Reviews (page 7 of 8)

Very boring.

Overall pretty boring. Elevator music at times. SOME songs I enjoyed partially, but mostly, no. Just boring. Don’t think I’d do much with it. Maybe after a relisten I’ll like it more. But yeah, for now, a 2.

342/1001 🌕🌕🌗🌑🌑

Needed more electrons

Meh. Kinda forgot it was playing.

These songs sound like all the weird levels of Dr. Mario and/or the music that plays in the background of the time lapse video of people refinishing a deck or converting a school bus into a camper.

Eple Poor Leno Röyksopp's Night Out Remind Me

An okay electronica album, not a great one. Just revisits mostly great ideas by other people while not creating any of their own. Quite a bit overrated and probably does not belong on the list.

Was kinda weird but ok.

This was not for me. I think it suffered coming off the back of Everything But The Girl, which was a vaguely similar thing that I liked a whole lot more.

Lofi hip-hop radio beats to chill / study to. I dunno, I’ve got nothing against it, but I’ll never listen again.

Yeah, not my jam.

Electronic music... I'm not always opposed, I like some. But this was not for me.

Better than most of the "electronic" albums I've listened to so far, but still didn't thrill me.

Good not great. But Paper Planes is a jam.

Not so noticeable, at least not for good

Boring electro crap 3/10

Not quite Jarre

Snooze fest

Boring old techno

It really is mainly the first two songs, rest of the album isn’t bad but it does fall off a bit. Think it also suffers a bit from those songs being so well-known, that it was an album of songs I was either tired of or just wasn’t that into. First album that I’m not really sure why it’s on this list, if Drukqs or Selected Ambient Works II isn’t on there, or The Knife. No-one needs to hear this, it’s not good enough or challenging enough, and it’s already been on adverts. Don’t hate it, but I could have happily missed it completely.

It was alright

Some okay songs on here. I can see where they had some influence on indie electronic music but it’s so varied and yet…kind of forgettable? Definitely not bad listening or offensive but a little all over with the quality

Not my usual style of music- it was a pleasant enough listen I guess but just not to my taste.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Haven't heard of them before. A really chill album, even too chill I'd say. Good as background music but not much else 2/5

Enjoyed how the album seemlesly transitioned between tracks like the first fee track but the rest wasn't my bag

Ambient music I will not relisten.

Pleasant background music, but that's all it is.

Boring.

Another trip hop record. Not my favorite by any means, but not the worst. Just kind of meh background music. Too much of this on this list.

A little too atmospheric for me, but a good vibe.

Good instrumental beats, but not much to chew on. Got boring after a while. Songs that do have lyrics still direct focus to the beat in the background. I would have liked this a lot more when I was younger. Not my thing nowadays. Standouts: Sparks and Remind Me.

This is pretty boring. Maybe downtempo isn’t my thing, but almost everything here sounds plasticy and unexciting

Chilled, some nice tunes, wouldn’t put it on

Norwegian electronica > French electronica. Slightly higher 2 star rating

2.2 I think the winters in Norway might be a bit too long.

Decent but boring in terms of "must listen before I die". It doesn't feel like anything on this record made big enough waves to give it that title.

There are enjoyable moments but this is weightless

Not bad but it’s not like I’m gonna listen to this ever again.

Nice for easy listening, but that is it really

Has a couple good songs but most just became annoying.

It sounds like the music you hear in hair salons, mellow and harmonious but not quite enough to catch your attention or distract you

Leaves me like drawing a butter rum life saver from the 5 flavor pack everyone is sharing.

It's not bad I just don't care. 2.5

Not going to waste my time on an album review for an album that wasted my time. Terribly boring.

Favourite song - Eple

I'm not going to lie, this one was pretty boring. It has its moments but overall it's pretty boring.

Not for moi.

It’s ok

I got this right after another ambient electronic album, and if it weren't for that I may have rated it higher.

It's kind of funny that the only song I enjoyed on this album is the one with lyrics, "Poor Leno".

Beep beep boop beep

Mmm…

Light listening here. The opening track is familiar and enjoyable. The rest of the album is listenable, but it just trails off into mediocrity .

I didn't find this super exciting or interesting

Overall, not really a fan.

I can't even remember if I actually listened to this

Quite boring indeed.

This was not super good, not super bad... I could have live without listening to this for sure, but it didn't hurt me neither... * sigh *

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp offers a sleek, chilled-out listening experience that is perfectly fine for background music. The Norwegian duo crafts smooth, downtempo electronica with polished production and lush soundscapes. Tracks like Eple and Poor Leno highlight their ability to blend catchy beats with atmospheric elements. However, despite its polished sound, the album lacks the engaging qualities needed to fully capture and hold my interest. The melodies, while pleasant, often feel repetitive and fail to build to any memorable peaks. There's a sense of sameness throughout the album that makes it difficult to distinguish one track from another. The vocals are understated, adding to the overall laid-back vibe but not providing much in terms of dynamic variation. The production is undeniably clean, but it sometimes feels overly slick, lacking the raw energy or emotional depth that could make the music more compelling. While Melody A.M. serves well as unobtrusive background music, it doesn't offer enough intrigue or excitement to stand out as a truly captivating listen. The album's cool, ambient tones are soothing but ultimately too passive to leave a lasting impression. For those looking for engaging, dynamic electronica, this album might fall short. NUMBER OF BANGERS - 0 STAND OUT TRACK - None

Not a fan, just too over mixed and engineered for my taste. So Easy was okay.

not my cup of tea

How many electronic albums can a list possibly have? I don't even dislike it, but I'm also having trouble differentiating it from the other groups.

How do you get the two little dots to show up on an Android keyboard? Some mysteries in life were meant to be unsolved!! Royksopp°°...best I can do. Thought this might be relaxing to listen to, but then was disinterested fast. I thought the guitar solo at the 37 min mark was insane though.

Trip-Hop that lost its hop. Every song had a cool ambient vibe that is promptly wrecked by an off tempo beat drop. Melody A.M. sounds unfinished and thrown together.

I just didn't see what made this stand out. It was really dull.

I used to listen to Eple a lot. But this album as a whole - i didn't enjoy it.

A-ha! Now I know two Norwegian bands…it only took 40 years. This one is not my cup of nype-te.

unexpectedly not bad. 2.5/5

Hmm, it's fine. Records like this serve as another reminder that the majority of this book was written and compiled in 2005-ish. 20 years on its hard to listen to this and go "wow, what an essential listen that was." Still, yeah Eple (which I never knew by any other name than 'that Royksopp tune') was absolutely everywhere and is very evocative of that time, because I never hear it anymore. I had 'Blue on Blue' on a Sampled CD which I prefer to this remix which kicks off the record. The rest, is basically the stuff that spawned a million chill out CDs that served the audience of frazzled clubbers. Or it's just one of them, don't know or care really which was first. It's not music to engage with, but it does a job. I wonder if Royksopp ever did actually make another record?

Perhaps a car isn't the best venue to listen to a dance music album like this, but I don't think I would like it much better in a night club. The first track samples "Blue on Blue," a song I never liked. Other tracks sounded like what AI can produce in 2024. The final track was a bore.

Very boring electronic

Day77 - maybe it’s good for background music but that would be about it

Slightly more interesting hold music.

I was introduced to Royksopp in the height of the Nuevo-techno era in the early 2000s with their album The Understanding. That album was a club bop. This one sounds like the soundtrack to a martini bar. I’ll take dirty ‘Tini with three olives so I can leave please. Kind of forgettable

I didn’t hate it. Didn’t love it. Probably wouldn’t listen again.

this was certainly something that happened and did not move me in either direction could i write poetry to this? n

Suffers from having to follow Portishead's "Dummy". Some of these tracks have a solid groove and are almost club-worthy. Most of them are too ambient to be Trip-Hop, and too funky to be Ambient. Without any tension or urgency, it just sort of meanders without any resolution. I guess that's probably the point. Two and one-half stars.

Not sure why this made the list

Remind Me is a good song, but nothing else grabbed me.

I enjoy electronic music, but this was quite tedious.

Something about this album irritated me, nothing too monstrously but it borders on twee and too laid back and unimaginative.

Nothing exceptional.

Today's album is Norwegian downbeat ambient electronica. Perfect call centre hold music. I've heard worse, but it's not great. It's electronica after all.... So Easy samples the song Blue on Blue by Bobby Vinton, which was featured in Trailer Park Boys: Countdown to Liquor Day. It plays after Mr. Lahey accidentally shaves part of Bubbles hair, and Bubbles is biking down to the animal shelter to see his kitties. One of my favourite scenes from the movie. Favourite songs: So Easy, Sparks, Remind Me Least favourite songs: A Higher Place 2/5

I imagine if there was music in a Finnish sauna, this would be it. Background and quite forgettable

Not really my type of thing

Torn between 2 and 3

Elevator music

I didn’t catch all the lyrics, but I’m pretty sure a few times I heard them say, “Your call is very important to us. Please stay on the line for the next available associate.”

I guess I am not a Lofi kinda girl

I didn't despise this as much as some of the other electronica I've run into here. I also didn't find it to be all that interesting either.

While there were some good beats, I mostly wanted it to be over.

Lofi beats to relax/study too; fine as background music, but in my opinion, not very interesting or stimulating.

Interesting sound, but too much sameness left me bored.

Electronic bop. Lots of noises for sure

Music for posh people I reckon. Pleasant enough but just kind of passed me by. Nothing jumped out enough to make me want to listen again. Background music. A mid 2.

Nah Rating: 2.3

One song Remind Me was memorable and I would be happy to hear again by chance not choice. Beyond that they play a little but not enough to escape sounding like background music at Euro hotel.

Not very interesting, lacks dynamic tracks. 2/5 Won’t listen again

Not great. But really I think I'm just getting old and cranky.

This album inspired a haiku. Beep-boop, endless loops Soulless drums that sound like poop Electronica Electronica is just not my thing. It's too empty, too repetitive, too sterile, soulless. Music needs more feel and a human element electronica can't deliver. Some of this album had listenable moments which saved it from a 1 star rating. My life would not have been a single degree less for not having heard this album.

This was fine, 22 years later it really feels of it's time.

This is fine I suppose. It’s electronic music that isn’t horrible but also nothing truly special. It has its moments that are catchy and fun but overall it lacks anything that would make it stand out. 4.0/10

This album was a fun listen, and I'd recommend it to anyone who likes any kind of electronic music. I definitely added a few of these songs to a few of my playlists after listening through this thing. Id never heard of this Norwegian duo but I really loved the different, but equally chill sounds they had.. Some of my favorite tracks were 'Eple' this thing has this weird but catchy lil sound to it, 'In Space' just felt like the title suggests, like you're "In Space" and 'Remind Me' is just.. easily my favorite track on this thing. I loved this song and its been stuck in my head since I heard it. Just a catchy, kind of homage to a classic. Overall: 2.8/5

Okay background music, that's about it for me

Now that's what I call music for airports Vol 62. I used to put this on a lot when I was working. It's the sound that birthed a million 'chill focus: lofi vibes to study to' playlists - the main virtues are being louder than background noise, pleasant and ignorable. They're good at it, but it's not exactly the highest praise ...

Awful trip-hop.

Nada llamativo

This album begins with a bang, featuring two of Röyksopp’s most iconic songs, “Eple” and “Poor Leno”. However, the rest of the tracks fail to maintain the same level of excitement and innovation, and end up sounding like generic ambient music. While the album is not bad as a background soundtrack, I don’t consider it an album you should listen to before you die.

Ambient electronic music. It was ok background music, nothing stood out to me. A bit boring. I don't know why this is on the list of 1000 albums. It wasn't bad, just ok

Kind of boring electronica. One or two songs I liked

Each song had a potential to be good in its own, unique, way, but they squandered it at every turn with a relentless effort to keep it boring. A lot of potential. Also, bad production. 2/5

Not my thing

I really wanted to like this album a lot more than I did. I’m a fan of electronic music and to a certain degree trip hop and ‘Remind Me’ takes me back to a nostalgic place with an old ex girlfriend of mine. I just don’t understand how this is ‘one of the most important albums of all time’. When I think of important electronic albums that pushed the envelope, I don’t feel like this album said or did anything besides made a few memorable Geico commercials. This album sounds like Runecape music Solid 2.5 from me. There are some songs that I’ll keep on the rotation but the other stuff is just such meh music

Haven't heard about this group since like 2000. Feels like they could easily be in a bond movie soundtrack. It's hard to describe, their music transcends a genre pick, cause theres a bit of electric, bit of jazz, bit of rock. No vocals. this is the group that did the geico commercial caveman music

The first record in this genre so far that I haven't outright hated. It's still not something you're gong to put on your turntable and actively listen to, but it works reasonably well as background noise. I don't know if that could be considered a high compliment really, but at least it didn't leave me reaching for the Excedrin.

It has a few tunes, but its quite a 2 dimensional album

Must hear? Not here.

bland - like advert music

Not for me, can't bring my self to listen to it. Sound is good and it's interesting somewhat.

Non-offensive but rather generic electronic music. I did like Eple, but found the rest somewhat forgettable.

Rokysop - some interesting stuff going on with textures but it gets less interesting quickly. Pace seems a bit slow to me and songs seem long. Maybe I would like it more if it had more live or lead elements? It does have vocals but super boring ones on songs like remind me. Songs with verses, choruses or more contrasting sections would be cool. Favorite songs: So easy, Eple, Higher Place

It’s like AI generated music

Not for me. I’ve never been chilled enough for this kind of music.

Genericised EDM that barely registered a pulse, except in *checks notes* the UK - the location that the author(s) seem to believe all must-listen music originates from. Meh. 2.5/5.

I like the Oye tracks, 'Remind Me' is great. Rest of it just bleeps along. Downtempo music like used to be interesting for me, but I lost interest somewhere along the line and I now find this sort of thing a slog.

melody a.m. is an album that stands out on this list. it felt like a film soundtrack in many parts. like, i swear one track sounded like it was from a forties noir movie! or another song would be something out of a horror flick. röyksopp is definitely wide ranging in their electronic music. when there were vocals in the songs, it seemed so out of place. it was, for what it's worth, easy enough to listen to, but it wasn't of too much interest to me.

Relaxing in places and a bit more exciting in others, this still ultimately came across as a bit boring. That said, it was fairly diverse from track to track. This probably clocks at around a 2.5 or so for me, but I don't know if I liked it enough for it to be a 3. It wasn't bad, but I didn't find it engaging. I could honestly leave this album and be just fine.

It just wasn’t interesting enough to give it 3

Meh. I don't know who listens to this. It's basically background noise.

Aside from a track I realized I already knew, this didn't connect with me. Maybe another time. Just felt a bit bland and generic.

Etwas experimentell 👨‍🔬

this was boring and I honestly don't know who it's for. I'd genuinely love for a fan of this to explain the appeal to me.

Was I waiting for AXA to process my insurance claim throughout this? Seemed so.

You definitely need a decent speaker to appreciate all the textures in some of the tracks. Wasn’t my kind of music though - very electronic

as with most music in this genre, redundant and boring.

Not a classic

Elevator music it's OK to like, and this even if you're going from the ground floor to the top of a skyscraper. But elevator music nonetheless! Don't get me wrong, Röyksopp are talented beatmakers and composers, and they're sometimes quirky enough to be interesting, at least once in a while. Yet the overall "feeling" I have from listening to *Melody A.M.* is that it's a little too bland and/or unobtrusive to elicit a strong response from me. In a close genre, an act like Boards Of Canada makes a far stronger impression. They're more poetic, more conceptual, more evocative, more off-kilter, more surprising... Eeerier and weirder, in a good way. That's how they hit the mark. And Röyksopp are definitely not up to that level. Now let me use this review to point something out when it comes to the general philosophy of my personal "grading" here: 95% of the artists and bands that managed to be included in Dimery's book actually deserve to be noticed--whatever your tastes are, and whatever your personal feelings about their music is. Making it to this list proves you're not an "average" musician. It shows that you did a good thing for you and others when you chose a career in music. And that you were right to persevere. So in that sense, you probably need to add 5 points to the grades given in here. It's not because you didn't make an essential album most people "should" listen to that you're a bad musician. Take Röyksopp, for instance. I'm giving them a 2/5 grade. But "objectively", given the amount of work, skills and imagination they put into this record, they probably deserve a 7/10 grade (2 + 5 for being talented artists nonetheless). It's just that for the purpose of this list of "essential" records, you can't do such benevolent gradings--otherwise the end picture would be quite unclear, even confusing. And I feel like most people using this app have the same philosophy, whether they consciously realize it or not. You have no choice but to be quite severe. That said, there are two or three exceptions to this rule of thumb. Examples: those horrid turds pooped by Limp Bizkit and Kid Rock, inexplicably listed in this app. To be clear: those turds can't deserve more than a 3/10 mark. Personally, I would even give them a 1/5. Being "subjective" is OK, and trying to be "objective" is fine as well. But then there's just common sense. And when you combine being an absolute moron with an obvious lack of talent, and add the bad taste factor to the equation, all that you deserve is contempt. Hope fans of those two acts are offended, because they need to wake the f*ck up. I can be nice and tolerant, but there's a limit to the sheer amount of idiocy I can put up with. About Röyksopp's *Melody A.M.*: Number of albums left to review: 633 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 182 Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 85 Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more essential to me): 107 (including this one)

Not my thing

It’s just fine

Not my favorite album by them, but there were a couple of tracks that stood out. "Eple" and "Poor Leno" were the only two I saved. Röyksopp offers better albums from this discography.

Boring to the point I forgot it was on. 2 stars because it was not actively offensive.

Nothing really stood out. I just got bored with it. Pretty low energy for dance music.

Soundtrack to the days in hip cafe's before they discovered charging a tenner for avocado on toast

This wasn't unpleasant at all. It would be a great album to use for falling asleep. However, other than "So Easy" being a take on Bobby Vinton's "Blue On Blue", there wasn't much to remember this album by.

I don't get it. It feels like the ambient stuff that any number of amateurs could make today.

Pretty indifferent on it. I slept like 4 hours last night so this thing kind of put me to sleep. 4/10

i don’t know — maybe my genre bias is showing (it’s not), and i’ve fallen out of step with what’s considered cool (i’ve not), but i don’t know that i buy into Melody A.M. as being anything more than a collection of vibey nothings that blend into the background; a footnote in the story of the endless youtube stream “lofi beats to relax/study to”. it’s not innovative enough to stand out from the rest of the wave of downtempo hip hop instrumentals (though tracks like “In Space” and “Röyksopp’s Night Out” make a valid enough argument for the existence of the record altogether, who are then followed immediately by nondescript low points like “A Higher Place”). Melody A.M. is not boring enough to hate, but is not interesting enough to truly like.

So unmemorable I didn’t even notice it had finished.

Funny music

Some of the songs added in the last few tracks were pretty cool but overall this is largely forgettable.

I really like Röyksopp, but this album didn't resonate with me.

idk not my cup of tea. Maybe on a second listen. I know ben enjoyed it tho

I got about a third of the way in and decided I needed to go and listen to some mclusky

The sound of wallpaper.

Felt like a soundtrack to a secret agent PS2 game. Was like "how do I know Remind Me" and it's the freaking Geico caveman song 😂 unfortunately ambient albums just haven't caught me right yet. Always just feels like credit to a movie for 45 minutes

It was an interesting kind of music , something that I am not used to listen every day , but I enjoyed it ,I found a song that I like .my overall experience was a trance like one ,the album have more tones and songs to get lost in ,something that I liked because I am an occasional classic listener ,and I could see where the sounds can get me ,and the landscape that they produce , it was nice , something new that I enjoyed

Electronic background music, simple as that. There is one notable track, but nothing too crazy to write home about. Like other entries on this list, this is a definite example of a British/European perspective. While fine, it is hard to label this as an "album to listen to before you die".

Too slow, had a hard time keeping me interested. Not a fan of songs that are both slow and don't have a strong vocal melody, they just feel forgettable in the end.

decent muzak, but not my style

I agree with the other reviewers - starts off OK, but then becomes a bit boring. With that name, and coming from the Arctic, I thought they'd be more interesting

This one had some highs and lows. At times I really enjoyed it, but at others I wished it would would just stop.

Ehh...nothing special...and I typically like this type of music.

Ok.. this is chill. I'm into and it's wild that they released this in 2001. Music still sounds like this today, it's that future is now vibe. I liked the vocal tracks more though the instrumentals but those were solid, gave me Dam-Funk vibes. I'm not sure I'd come back to this album often but would definitely keep it on when shuffling and appreciate the groundwork re: dance music, indie club dance sounds.

Dull. Sounds like adverts.

This is a great album if you're looking for something to fall asleep to.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So average!!!

background electronic music to work to. within this mindset, this is okay.

not interested.

I guess if I ever need to study again this is good music for it. The first 3/4ths, the last bit got annoying.

alright.... too mellow and lacking words for me lol.

I’d probably like this if I had robot ears

Decent electro for 2001 but there’s a lot better out these days

Background music to a poorly designed Sega Saturn game from 1995.

It's like the boring parts of Air meets the soundtrack to N64's "Golden Eye". Will probably never revisit.

Not my typical genre.

Mildly interesting. At times annoying. Not my cup of tea.

Electronic tastes are so finicky. I've heard a bunch of times that this group should be up my alley. And it's not too far off from Thievery or Tycho, who I really like. But this whole thing gets a meh from me. And Eple, the supposed breakout hit, was the most annoying part.

Didn't love it, didn't hate it

Extremely dated

Total background

So I put this on towards the end of a car trip, because putting ambient/dance/electronica on can be dangerously soporific. This is better than most of its genre, but it still begs the question: Why don't they try to write an actual song? They do the same thing we used to do in the 60s/70s/80s... which was to jam with your friends. Sometimes you came up with a good sound and tried to turn it into a song. But these electronic types record it and put it out. They're fragments, not songs.

Ok music to drive to, but overall pretty underwhelming.

This is the music you'd hear at a department store or something. Great if you suffer from insomnia. 4/10.

meh, went on a fair bit

I mean...I like some of Röyskopp's music, honestly, but this wasn't it. Sample of Blue on Blue was creative, and cemented the opening track as my fave song, but aside from that song I wouldn't relisten. Fave track: So Easy

Not spectacular, but not offensive. Yeah, I think not offensive is the best I can offer.

This album sounds like it belongs in a Jon Bois video - and not in a good way. Outside of a few moments, this album really wasn’t fun or exciting.

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp (2001) If you want to hear an old Burt Bacharach/Hal David song (made famous by Paul Anka) covered by a Swedish vocal ensemble and sampled into a synth dance track by this Norwegian electronic music duo, then listen to the opening cut on Melody A.M. Then you should seriously lower your expectations. This record is primarily suited for video game and/or advertisement soundtrack, manufactured on expensive electronic toys. It’s a lot better than some other music in the genre, such as american dream by LCD Soundsystem (2017), but that’s not saying much. Lead vocal by guest artist Anneli Drecker on “Sparks” is quite listenable, however her lyrics, which hover around feelings of being “wounded, sulky, and alone”, don’t make for a concordant musical mood. There are some dreamy sonic settings, and intriguing jazz harmonic and percussive inventions, but several tracks are spoiled by much too much gimmickry, with artificial noise in the highs, excessive phase shifting and channel-to-channel wobbling. And most of these compositions are heading nowhere. It seems as though the majority of the tracks just give up on any notion of development, and simply stop. Listen to this in the background while you work, but don’t hope for an increase in productivity. 2/5

Röyksopp are like a commercial version of Boards of Canada, who I dislike so they don’t have too much going for them. Mindless, cold, detached and incredibly boring electronica.

Not very catchy or easy to pick up initially. Electronic isn't my favorite genre but I'm always willing to give it a chance. Not a fan of this album.

Same review as all albums in this genre, it’s not bad but for me it’s just background music..

Ehhhhhhh....

Really not into this electronic stuff. Prefered the Malian guys from a couple of days ago

it’s nice but just not interesting it’s just ugh and come on be not boring #forgettable sorry!!

Fairly uninteresting background music. Some songs seem ok, but most are forgettable. 2/5

Not my type of thing admittedly. There were a few tracks that had me grooving along a bit, but even those tracks would get old pretty quick.

A bit boring and uneventful. Not very memorable. 5 min later I already forgot what I was listened to. I would not recognize a single track if it would be played to me in the next few weeks. I guess that qualifies for a 2?

Made me feel weird.

Oddly enough, I liked a couple of songs. Overall this album was a miss for me.

Yhden hitin levy, jonka kuunteli mielellään pitkästä aikaa, mut loppulevy olikin aika harmaata ja massaan katoavaa

Just don't rly like chillout

Not bad, just not necessarily what I would listen to

More uneventful electronic music. This is not my bag.

Few nice classics. All other songs just fillers

Not my thing but I can appreciate the craft.

Kinda weird soundtrack type music. Didn’t really enjoy.

Pretty shit

Not very memorable for me. The songs were not bad and super chill, but I will probably not listen again

Boring

Ambient Electro Downbeat Gedudel Vorallem Instrumental Ruhig. Hintergrundmusik

I wanted this to be chill background music. And there were definitely hints of really good chill electronica. But there was too much... I'm just gonna say "weirdness." Just when they find a nice groove, there's a radical shift or a new jarring sound mixed in. Ah, finally got to "Remind Me" after 8+ minutes of "Royksopp's Night Out" - I recognize this one! And it totally sticks out on the album. It's good, not great, but the vocals are different from anything else on "Melody A.M." This is nowhere close to reaching the trip-hop heights of Portishead or Massive Attack. Those songs flow, whereas Royksopp just feels disjointed.

I sometimes like this style of music -- ambient, video-game background music (no, they didn't make this album for video games; just my description) -- and this has some nice tracks on it. I have a feeling when it came out 20 years ago, it was a bit more of a standout. These days, this kind of music is, I think, fairly widespread? Probably. Anyway, overall, I liked this album.

Chilled out music - but too much

The second half of the album is much better than the first....but still, I felt at the time that this album's success was based more on hype than hits.....still feel that way

How fucking dare you, 1001 albums list! How dare you! To even call this music is outrageous. This is the worst DIY schlock I have ever heard! There are so many albums that I did not “need to hear” before I die but this is, so far, the only one that makes me think death is the better option. If I heard 1000 5 star albums prior to this garbage and this was the the 1001st, I would still disqualify the entire list. (Not a fan)

legit XTRA fit. hm

boring h&m crap, how this was ever considered cool or interesting is totally beyond me. admittedly charmed by the Arthur Russell-biting Remind Me, but it can't save how shit the rest of this is

This album should have stayed in the google drive Junkie Hipster cafe/ elevator music Some songs might be a 2 if JayZ was on there RöykSLOP: 1/5

Beepboop and move on

Its giving Scorpios beach club.

Not my type of music. Sounds good but dont like this.

Scandinavian elevator music. I saw one quote say that it bridged the gap between electronic and indie music, and I'm here to say...No. No, it didn't.

p881. 2001. 1 star. Tedious electronica for the millennium. The rule holds true: if no-one is talking about it 5 or more years after release, it's not essential listening. Who put this on the list?

I found this without substance to an offensive degree. Not unsimilar to hearing Steely Dan, this music elicits no feelings in me at all. This is difficult for even just sounds in general much less intentional music. Unlike supreme fart sniffers such as Steely Dan though I'm not convinced the creators of this album even enjoy this. I can't discern the intended audience or use of this music. My piece of my life I dedicated to hearing this was substantively worse because of it.

Elevated elevator music

Quite why this made the list is beyond me. Let's all go to Ibiza, look at the sunset and listen to some beats

1.5 - not for me

Ei oo miu

Vôbec by som tento album nedal do tohto rebríčka

not my speed

very weird

Well this fucking sucks

Dance. Not great. Bland and uninteresting even for dance.

Music they play in IKEA

Hipster Lounge Music

Die nächste für den Elektroschrott!

Sorry, I tried. I listened to every song and it all sounded the same. Not for me, but according to the comments a lot of people dig it, so check it out

Awful 😣

Boooored

Repetitive electronic instrumental music. Some of it is ok as background music, but as a whole, hard pass. Poor Leno was repetitive but at least it sounded nice. Best song: Poor Leno

Did not enjoy this album. Struggled to finish it.

This album is dogshit 1001 album worthy: no 81/148

Oh, great another fucking EDM/Techno album 🍑💨

not a fan turned it off after 3 songs

Boring but not good or peaceful enough to put me to sleep.

Playing around with some electtronic equipment from the waste - box, adding some auto-generated gently tr-808 drums and put all together to an album. maybe nice for elevators or stylish hotel lobbys. Please wake me up - when the album ends

Easy listening. Very electric. Elevator music.

Dull, bland and fucking boring

Lots of beeps and boops, like Eno but not as good, thought I would like it more as I remember it getting good reviews back when it came out. Not for me, nothing much else to add.

no words. not a fan of electronic music

Album 458 of 1001 Röyksopp - Melody AM Rating : 1 / 5 Electronic BS

What buying a Kia Soul sounds like

I mostly skippade through this, because it's really not my cup of tea. I did enjoy the beat on "Eple" but im missing the vocals, but I get that's not what this is about.

Not an electronic kind of person

No, gracias

okay, but dull

Meh…

Instrumental nope.

Why is this something I have to listen to. Who picks the junk. It's a no for me dawg.

God I really dislike dance music. I just could not get into this. Irritating pulses and beats that are akin to a vasectomy permeate throughout this slog of a dance project. Not enjoyable to me at all.
