Am I the only one that thinks Radiohead is boring? et ole.... tylsää huohhoijjaakkkaaaa huaaaaaaaah...... toista radiohedi albumia mennään ja kolme ainakin tulossa nojassoo .. ei tule vitosta saamaan jokainen albumi heh (vähemmän suosittu tämä = ei voi oantaa viisi tähteä muut albumit suositumpia sekä kansa aivopesty, aivopesty että tämä albumi on hyvä kaikki sanoo se on hyvä no kuuntelempas joo joo... tosi hyvä tosi hyvä joo paras albumi ikinä tää ok computer (en oikeasti tykännyt)) sit down stand uö

One of the albums of this band I spent less time with, and such a shame! It's no Ok Computer or close to Kid A, but this record still reaches a lot of highs! I can see this one getting more spins in the future, loved it! 8 out of 10

I love Radiohead. Period. This isn't their best album but honestly I was pretty surprised at how good some of these were. This should be the soundtrack to the 1984 movie honestly. 2+2=5? That would be super cool. I loved the piano in We Suck Young Blood. Amazing album, 4 stars.

My least favorite Radiohead album is the most obviously depressing. A friend told me it was his favorite when he was in high school… and that, in hindsight, he must have been “pretty fucked up.” I put it on many times but never got past track 3, because I was not fucked up enough. A shame! The best songs are in the second half! There, There is gorgeous. Sail To The Moon is perfect for its off-kilter, slow-dance-during-the-apocalypse sound. Some of these swim in your head, an afterimage on a screen that never quite goes away. Even if they’re not the most sing-able, they haunt you. Like Amnesiac which we (crazy!) had also this week, you have to be in that mood. The mood that my friend was apparently in all through high school. If you’re there, this is the place. 4/5

Litt for amper stemning for min del

Better than I expected. Still not an enormous Radiohead fan.

Very good

Complex album that is by far not the best, but it has good experimental songs that differ from the other albums.

Beautiful, dark, dreamy.

Lesser known Radiohead album for me. Love that I'm getting to know it. Eerie vibes, great blend of electronic music and instruments. A nice slow burner.

A Radiohead album that finally connected with me! Not sure what I liked about this one that I didn’t like about In Rainbows. Maybe it’s the electronic elements. Maybe I need to give In Rainbows another listen.

2 + 2 = 5 // Sail To The Moon // Where I End and You Begin // We Suck Young Blood // There, There // I Will // A Punch Up At A Wedding // Myxomatosis // 4/5

This is very technically proficient, the production is top notch. Probably would need a few more listens 4/5

Enjoyed this - really good to just have on chilling. Liked go to sleep a lot!

I was underwhelmed until There, There. I like Radiohead in small doses. I appreciate it but don’t enjoy it for extended periods. Then I listened through headphones and real liked it 2 + 2

discazo por dios que viva el rock

Bien. Pero no es mi favorito.

Although it might be the weakest of the legendary run from OK Computer thru In Rainbows, this album still has a lot to offer. There's a near perfect blend of electronic and acoustic elements here that remains unmatched by any other band that's attempted it. But that also acts as a detriment to it in some ways, causing a lot of tracks to feel like leftover B sides from Amnesiac (which was already leftover sessions from Kid A). I think if the band would've put a bit more time into the song structures, a lot of what's good on this album could've been GREAT.

My heart tells me every post-Pablo Honey Radiohead record is a 5; my brain understands the unfair precedent set by Radiohead’s revolutionary 5s.

this one is sorta hard to review, it’s not as good from a radiohead perspective, but is an amazing album nonetheless. pacing is a bit confusing at times, but this is really such a cool sounding album.

Still good, not as into it as I use to be but enjoyable nonetheless. One of Radiohead's best Imo

Maybe my favorite Radiohead album… but actually upon relistening that’s wrong. BUT it does have some of their best songs just a lot of cruft in between

A sober tone for sure. But it does an amazing job of capturing a feeling that was prevalent for many at the time of its release. A few songs make me want to punch someone in the face. In a good way.

And the rain drops and the rain drops and the rain drops and the rain drops and the rain drops and the rain drops and the rain drops and the rain drops and the rain drops and the rain drops and the rain drops

Headphones and getting high music

Another excellent Radiohead album. What I don't get is why there's so many albums from Radiohead on the 1001 list. One, maybe two, would be enough. I do like Radiohead and often go back and listen to them. This isn't my favorite album of theirs but it's still very good. I'm surprised OK Computer hasn't appeared yet if it is even on the list.

Radiohead was a weird band. I've given one of their albums 5 stars and another 2 stars. The rest, like this one, fall somewhere in the middle, but more on the good side in general. On this song, my enjoyment between tracks varied, although there was nothing horrible on here. But I definitely enjoyed the tracks more that followed more standard rock structures, rather than being fully experimental. That's sort of strange, considering I love post rock. I guess their "standard rock tracks" are already pushing the boundaries of rock, whereas their fully experimental tracks tend to be insufficiently fleshed out, not fully coherent, and sometimes sort of half-assed. Still better than the average album on this list though.

Certainly not Radiohead at their best, but a compelling album nonetheless. Some fantastic tracks that really managed to capture my attention, some less than stellar ones that kept me from enjoying this album to the fullest extent. Still a great effort by the band.

I love Radiohead but have never listened to Hail to the Thief before now. This album is hated in because?? Sure it isn’t the most immediate record, and it has some low energy cuts but it is great. 8/10

I have been underestimating this album for over twenty years now. Fortunately, this exercise encouraged me to listen to it one more time, now with a clearer and sober mind, and I could not be more grateful for that. I am not a Radiohead connoisseur, but time and experiences have nurtured an appreciation of their music, and now I feel a heartful connection with their work. The album explores an exciting range of emotions. However, coming from an ex-nation, social alienation and political manipulation were the ones with which I felt the most profound connection. In this matter, it seems that Yorke and friends were able to anticipate where society was going with the emergence of social networks and political polarization (it is impossible for me to look at the "2+2=5" title and not recall "1984," for instance.)

I used to listen to this one a lot as a kid. 2+2=5 was one of my favourite songs for a while, and there are some other great tracks on here (sail to the moon, wolf at the door). As a whole album it is a bit too long, and doesn't quite compare to the consistent quality of Kid A

Definitely one of their

Highlights: Sit Down. Stand Up, Sail To The Moon, Where I End You Begin, A Punch Up at a Wedding, A Wolf At the Door

Highlight: A Punch Up at a Wedding

Not as memorable as their other albums, but it still has much of their signature magic. Great listen.

4 with some goodwill. Lot of exciting unique sounds in this one, enjoyed most of the songs.

I liked it. Sail to the Moon is my favorite off the album!

Of the 7 Radiohead Albums we've received this is my 4th favourite :)

Quality fare from the heads doesnt reach the heights of some of their other albums. But still great songs.

Lovely slice of Radiohead. But why this album?

Ok I love Radiohead and I have enjoyed all of their albums but I feel like they are over-represented on this list. It’s a little crazy to include that many albums from any artist. I never listened to this one before and it is cool and vibey just like all their other records.

Strong 8

4.1 Not one of their best but still a great album. Fave songs: 2+2=5, Sail to the Moon, There There

Radiohead hadn't really got through to me before - but I like this quite a bit

Like it

Hard to rate this album because it’s really good, but compared to other Radiohead it’s average. I don’t listen to it much, and it’s probably my 6th-favorite album by them. The album feels very much like a product of its post-Iraq invasion time, and that specificity means it doesn’t hit me as hard now that we are out of that specific moment in time. Having said all that, it’s still a great listen. You’d take a less-than-perfect Michael Jordan over most basketball players at full strength.

Got that weird goodness but my relationship with Radiohead is still complicated

A solid and eclectic mix of Radiohead songs. Not their best, not their worst - tracks like 2+2=5, There There, Myxamatosis and Sail to the Moon are just very very good, and I think We Suck Young Blood is overhated

Based on my previous scores of Radiohead I was ready to hate on this, but then it grew on me. Damn you Radiohead, damn you!

Another boss album by Radiohead. Their consistency is a joke. Well played lads

Not my favourite radiohead album, but still showcases how amazing a band they are.

I used to have a fantasy of playing 2+2=5 to Simon Cowell on stage or something when I was 14 just because the drop is so serious and undeniably thick and heady. Thought his taught botoxed cheeks would loosen from their chemical girdle and wabble appreciatively and he would know, he would simply know that music had finally happened. That the holy war was waging and he was on the wrong side. This is a good, overlooked, Radiohead album. People get sniffy because it's not OK Computer or the Bends but those people are idiots. An extraordinary album if not quite their best.

always felt like this album is a bit bloated and scattershot. but compared to their other airtight masterpieces, it's meandering length is why i love this release.

3.5 * Loin d'être le meilleur album de Radiohead, mais quand même intéressant Pref ++ : I will ; A Wolf at the Door

PREFS : 2 + 2 = 5, Sit Down. Stand Up, Backdrifts, Go To Sleep, Where I End and You Begin, There, There, A Punch Up at a Wedding, Myxomatosis, A Wolf at the Door MOINS PREF : The Gloaming

Turns out this band is just as good at playing live as when they make Pro Tools do most of the heavy lifting. Not sure why some sour on this one. My hot take is that it'll ultimately be etched among the top 3 when ranking the best Radiohead albums.

Un peu trop véloce à mon goût

cette fois ci je l'ai mérité

A really strong start with 2 + 2 = 5 that lulls for a good chunk of the middle before coming back with an excellent last few songs. I can see the idea with a lot of the album, with a lot of songs building up to one part, but this one part is not given enough room to breathe, and the song feels cut off most of the time. I think the album would actually benefit from less songs, but make them like seven minutes long, as I can here things that are predecessors to the longer songs by bands like MGMT and Tame Impala, but the songs here are far too short. Those last four or so songs are doing so much heavy lifting for this album that it gets a light four.

Not my favorite Radiohead album, but a good one.

Somewhat eerie. Somewhat frightening. Somewhat claustrophobic. Somewhat unsettling. Yet in the end, it's a worthwhile addition to the 1001 club. Sit Down, Stand Up and There, There are outstanding tracks.

High quality album overall, one I haven't visited in several years. Go To Sleep is a highlight for me. I still love the haunting feel and Thom Yorke's voice.

Not their best but solid

It's definitely a Radiohead album.

Always inventive in unexpected ways. Strange and weird but in a good way.

Lyrics have a darkness to them that is really intriguing, but also scary and thought-provoking, but at the same time some mean nothing. The first two songs build slowly and almost explode into a serene third song. Middle of the album is a little more rhythmic, and it ends balanced. Definitely more electronic aspects to this album than I was expecting. Almost has some Daft Punk / Dntel vibes. 4/5

The raindrops. The raindrops. The raindrops. The raindrops. The raindrops. The raindrops. The raindrops. The raindrops. An album to help put food on your family. Radiohead's love letter to the bush administration. Great sounds. Some of the bands best songs are here. A bit of filler that prevents it from being thought of with kid A or ok computer, but a strong album nonetheless. Highlights: 2+2=5. sit down stand up.

Not their best, and perhaps the least excellent of the late quintet (Amnesiac, In Rainbows King of Limbs and Moon-Shaped Pool, – only the first two of which was included here). This perhaps most similar to Amnesiac in that's uneven and slow starting (which is why they both probably ended up on editors -ex list, though there are way more obvious ex-ing candidates). Indeed, the last part of Hail (starting with "There There") is first rate and just what one wants from what was then the best, most important and artiest band in the world.

solid album

Well, if you're into Gazpacho or Muse you might as well listen to this album. From start to finish, it's a textbook example of what to do in this genre.

Probably my least familiar album, as I've only given it a few listens. "2+2=5" is such a great opening track, though, and "There, there" is in my rotation. It was nice to reacquaint with "Go to sleep" and "Wolf at the door".

Good Radiohead. Not my favorite of theirs, but it scratched the itch.

Bien. Pero no es mi favorito

In this album Radiohead take the techniques they used in Kid A and make a more rock oriented album while still using synthesiser and electronic instruments. This album is far less ambient and experimental than Kid A but it still stands out in Radioheads discography 8/10

Radiohead being Radiohead. More of a political slant apparently, but the lyrics are still still in that Dadistic approach that Thom Yorke seems to like. Not as immediate as their other albums but stick with it and you'll get a keeper. Best Tracks: 2+2=5; Go To Sleep; There There

It's a good album overall, and it was the first album of theirs I had purchased. It's among the weaker Radiohead albums overall, though, or maybe right about in the middle for them.

#1 4/5 Listened: w/ my 20-month old, driving, 2/1/23 Notes: An album I've listened to before, but hadn't held to memory, was a really great start to this 1001 Albums project. Not my favorite of theirs, and not their best, Hail to the Thief is an alt rock gem. A lot of electronic influence throughout this project, a holdover from their Kid A/Amnesiac sessions, makes this album more sonically diverse and more interesting as the tracklist progresses. Sagged a little bit towards the end, but the first half of the record is strong enough on its own. Really solid record. Fav tracks: 2+2=5, Sit Down. Stand Up., The Gloaming, A Punchup at a Wedding, Myxomatosis

Bit slow but fully deserves a 4.

Best band ever. Their live shows are amongst best experience in ones life. But despite e.g. the Gloaming and There There being highlights in their discography and live sets, I could never appreciated this collection of sons as an album, as I do with all others from OK Computer onwards. So this is the 4 star album between the 5 stars albums they made.

- Heard this many times before - Radiohead are my favourite band of all time but this isn't one of my favourite albums of theirs - Still really good, might be marking it down because of how good In Rainbows is - The raindrops (x42) - Fav songs: There, There; A Wolf at the Door; 2+2=5

Not the most accessible or hit packed album, even by Radiohead standards, Hail to the Thief is Radiohead taking everything they had done up till that point and bringing it all together into one sound. There's so much going on throughout this album that it almost defies analysis. I think that's the reason it feels so overwhelming, its so dense and changes so quickly even within tracks that there's not much to latch on to. When it does stick its head above water around the time of 'There, There' and give the listener some time to breathe there's an immense sense of relief which gives the whole album this great sense of tension and release, which is kind of what the best music does, just this is on a longer timescale. Of course Radiohead are one of the most analyzed bands in history and I could keep coming up with stuff for ages but I suspect that none of my analysis on this album would have really been intended. From what I gather about the way it was put together it was intentionally done in a slapdash way. Get something down and move on quick. Even to the point where they forgot parts and who played them. Its an exciting and liberating way to make music and a testament to how well Radiohead work together and how good Nigel Godrich really is that they managed to produce material so impressive. Its not my go to Radiohead album but its still a great 4. Its not particularly enjoyable in places but I'm left with the impression that that's not really the point.

Good album!!

In my review of Radiohead's OK Computer, I noted that the themes of technology and alienation remain even more relevant today. Unfortunately for the world, the themes about politics and the state of the world in Hail to the Thief are just as relevant today. My main criticism is that it seemed like there was a lot of droning.

Not their best, but still a really good album

Chaotic yet relaxing at the same time. Radiohead's music always has an ethereal feeling to it. Beautiful instrumentals and vocals. The video for There, There is so insanely creative. Fave track(s): Sail To The Moon

All elbows and weird dancing.

Sounds like radiohead, i like it

notes - radiohead’s sixth album - continuing their electronic experimentation - lots of political and societal themes - but more focus on raw live sounds - much more energetic and rough around the edges than their previous two albums - i would say very underrated album - some of my fav radiohead songs are on here fav - a wolf at the door - love this song every time and very unique in radioheads catalog least fav - we suck young blood - goes on a bit too long and the louder faster section in the middle is unnecessary imo 4.5/5 not in my top 3 radiohead but i love it

2+2=5, Backdrifts, Where I End and You Begin, Myxomatosis, A Wolf At the Door, Go To Sleep

Probably the most Radioheady Radiohead album. But does it need to be on this list? I can think of at least 3 other albums that warrant inclusion, and there probably only needs to be 2.

Aika kivasti sopii eilisen levyn jatkoksi! Pidän tästä. Edelleenkin totean että oon kuunnellut aivan liian vähän radioheadia. Kivan ilmavaa musiikkia. 4/5

Something is wrong with the list...it's an album that isn't bad. Pulled back from hyper-electronic of previous 2. Sail to the 🌙. Good. Punch up has the good middle jam (too short) but otherwise a weaker track There there is top level stuff I will is a throwaway...cast off track from amnesiac. Leave it in dead pile. Myxamatosis phat fuzz bass Last 1/3 bit hit or miss

Radiohead's 4th or 5th best album so I expect the UK bias of the list will include more Radiohead albums.

Already listened to it, very much enjoy. maybe a little bloated but still a nice listen the whole way through

Good album. Not my preferred genre but will give it a second listen to catch more of the nuances.

Not my favorite Radiohead but a good one.

I have this album on double 45 rpm vinyl and the sound quality is amazing. Side 1 is just excellent 2 + 2 = 5 signals that guitars are making a Radiohead comeback which with Johnny Greenwood always tasteful playing is a good thing. Side 2 starts and ends with synthesizer - drum machine exercises that are tasteful and they bookend an excellent song in Go to Sleep. Side three is the weakest part of the album. It starts with a haunting creepy piano based ballad and continues in the same vein with The Gloaming. Things pick up appreciably after that with There There a pretty straight ahead mid tempo guitar drums number that really takes off as we start hearing guitar layering that gives the song an epic feel. A gorgeous ballad that showcases Thom's beautiful voice ends the side. Side 4 has four more tasteful songs and just maintains the albums high quality. It took me a few listens to re-acquaint myself with this album. In the end I think I appreciate it more now that I did on release. It's marriage of old-school guitar sound with Kid A atmospherics give it a nice balance and variety and previews their next album to come; the brilliant In Rainbows 4 stars

Better than I remembered it

Myxomatosis slaps

First Radiohead album I actually enjoyed. It didn't all sound similar and the songs were more varied and sounded good.

Backdrifts kinda slaps, aint gonna lie. Quite nice so far, definitely can hear the progression from kid A -> In Rainbows. Okay Backdrifts properly slaps. Where I end you begin is pretty tasty, yummy. Also very varied sound. Honestly, on first listen this has been pretty good, which is not always the case for even really good radiohead albums in the past. Think this may be a sneaky good one for my taste. There There is nice track. I will is very different as well, slow harmonies. Nice contrast. I'm feeling a solid 4 tbh.

Not their best but still Radiohead

Difficult to rate because it is an AMAZING album, but by Radiohead standards to me it's not even close to being their best. So I'll give this a 4 since other albums by them featured on the list will certainly be getting the 5s.

Another solid showing from Radiohead, with excellent atmosphere and vibes. It does not reach the heights of some of their masterpieces, and feels like a little more than the sum of its parts, with each individual song not being as strong as their collective energy is together, but ultimate a strong record.

I did like this, just wish it had something more to really elevate it to the other Radiohead stuff I've listened to so far.

Kid A and OK Computer seem to get all the attention but this album flew under the radar for me. idk if it's just that people forgot about Radiohead after the year 2000 or are just stuck on those other albums because of how great they are, but I think this album is a lot more accessible and less pretentious. Doesn't mean it's necessarily better but I am enjoying it more. Don't write this one off just because it's not Radiohead's most well-known

Not quite Bends and OK computer level but still solid

Not my favourite Radiohead album, but some cool stuff on here. A Wolf at the Door is amazing.

Highly enjoyable, nice relaxing music

I'm in two minds about this one. As a Radiohead fan, I absolutely love "There, There", "Myxomatosis" and "2+2=5". " Where I Amd You Begin" is pretty good too, and I like how the lyrics on this LP naviagte between pointed political criticism and heartfelt moments of optimism (you sure that map on the cover to do that sort of thing, right?). On the other hand, *Hail To The Thief* is also the rare *good* Radiohead album that contains clear filler--half baked songs or rather effectless experimentation that could have easily been edited out to streamline the tracklisting on *both* "sides". *A Moon-Shaped Pool* is the other one of those good records overall where this happens too (*Pablo Honey* and *The King Of Limbs* are not convincing enough as a whole anyway to be labelled as a "good Radiohead album"). So what am I gonna do? I hesitate between a 4/5 and 4.5/5 grade. Now that you're reading this, you already know which sort of grade I have chosen. It's quite funny that I have not yet. What's for sure is that I will probably not include that record in my own list of essential listens even though I still think it's a good one. That will leave some room for other artists. Pretty sure that other Radiohead fans will agree with me that it's the right thing to do here. We're cool guys and gals, generally speaking. Number of albums left to review or just listen to: less than 800, I've temporarily lost count here Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens:  approximately a half so far  Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: a quarter (including this one) Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more important): the last quarter

Alright, I liked this one! There was still a little bit of audio channel stuff that hit my ears wrong toward the beginning, and “We Suck Young Blood” brought the whole album to a screeching halt right in the middle, but I liked most of the rest of the songs

Sveto trojstvo -> Kid A (hladna noć) - OKC (kišni dan) - IR (sunčana jesen).

A limbo album. its clearly not part of the Kid Amnesiac hyper experimental era and it gets followed up by in rainbows (albeit 4 years later) which is arguably their most accomplished album. its not part of the previous era and it in no way compares to the quality of in rainbows so it just kind of exists in between, unbothered. it's still decent but it's competing with pablo honey for the radiohead album with the least individual draw.

7/10. I've come to realize I don't really care much for Radiohead, but I did like this album. The subdued sound and cynicism work well together here.

It’s pretty good, not amazing. 7/10

Another Radiohead banger, this time a more aggressive outcome than their previous efforts. Not often a sucker for political lyricism, but this works. Favourite Tracks: - There There - A Wolf at the Door - Myxomatosis - 2 + 2 = 5 - Where I End and You Begin - Sit Down, Stand Up - A Punchup at a Wedding - Backdrifts - Go to Sleep Overall Rating: 4/5

Haven't heard the album before, but as can be expected by Radiohead a great album. Very intrigued by the electronic drum's en synths.

Super moody. Needs focused listening.

Underrated Radiohead album

it takes a bit of commitment to listen to all of it, but overall the album is coherent and flows really really well. of course, I mean, it's a classic.

Liked it a lot but significantly less than their later albums. A bit flat for me at times. Would give it a 3.5, maybe 4 with subsequent listens.

Been a while since I listed in full. Couple reasons why it's behind the Holy trinity and AMSP like the production not so crisp and much more of mood album. But its still great.

I haven't spent much time with this album but certainly enjoyable.

Kind of a redundant addition to the list given all the other Radiohead already on here, no? This has never been one of my fave albums of theirs, but giving it a relisten, yeah, there are a bunch of tunes on here I like. Minus one whole star for "Backdrifts" - what a horrible flow-breaking mess. Fave track - "2+2=5" maybe, or "Where I End and You Begin"

A little experimental in the middle but less so than some other Radiohead albums. I’d rate it second best of their stuff.

I like Radiohead a lot and this is a great album, but I don’t feel like I have anything new to say about this music

2000s alt rock nostalgia 3.7⭐

I still haven't listened to enough of Radiohead's work, but I'm so glad this project keeps introducing me to their music. Fascinating band and I really like this album. Very interesting blend of electronica and rock. To me, at least, this music activates my brain in ways that I enjoy. Engaging, complex, and superbly performed.

This album defies any genre definition. There are rock tracks, electronic synth tracks, beautiful ballads and some jazzy moments, all bound together by a gloomy vibe, not least created by Thom Yorke's voice. I like a couple of tracks (especially A Wolf At The Door), but unlike a couple of other Radiohead albums, this album doesn't quite vibe with me. I wish it was different, because I can hear that there's some high quality musicianship in there. It just fails to reach me on any emotional level. Which is just too bad. 3.5/5

Melodic and melancholic. Cohesive. The best of Radiohead's analog and digital sides. Conor - 4.2 Bill - 4 Shannah - 4 (4.06/5)

I enjoyed this even more on the relisten

I don't think this one lives up the their previous album, The Bends, but it is still very solid. These guys are so unique. I really don't know why I've never listened to them all that much... except for the Pablo Honey CD I bought in middle school.

"Sit Down. Stand Up." ist der beste Song mit einer 3,5/5. Album bekommt: 2,5/5

It was ok. Nothing really stood out as being all that great.

Fora, ali u trenucima dosadno. Pogotovo pri kraju. 3/5

I don’t think it’s their best album. A bit too long and poorly sequenced. Love Radiohead but rarely reach for this one

I've never found this album particularly interesting, like the band started focusing on all of the musical ideas I liked the least from OK Computer. Still some good things here, the singles stand out and Wolf at the Door was a nice surprise right at the end.

I do like There There, but not enough to bump this up to a 4

Good but def not my fave Radiohead album

What a rocker to open with. Especially when it explodes. Sit Down has a haunting piano which erupts into this frenzy of bleeps and bloops. And then when the drums kick in I’m levitating. Sail feels very Floyd when it starts. But then those vocals from Yorke destroy me. This is a good time to point out how dystopian, more so than usual, these lyrics are. Backdrifts didn’t do much for me but musically it’s interesting. It just goes on for too long for what it is. Go to Sleep starts with killer acoustic guitar and Thom’s awesome vocals. It really builds on this which I appreciated. The drums on Where I End stood out the most until that guitar and mysterious synths of course. We Suck is probably my least favorite on the album. I just don’t dig on how slow it is and the clapping bothered me. It eventually has a burst of energy but by then it didn’t matter. The Gloaming is a feast for the ears when it comes to the synths but that’s all that stands out. There, There is another standout but I did have a point where Yorke’s vocals were a bit grating. I Will feels more like an interlude so it didn’t do much for me other than the vocals. A Punchup is a great track especially that bass riff. The guitars sound like nothing I’ve heard before on Myxomatosis but that may not work for everyone. Scatterbrain feels like a leftover from the last two albums so I don’t know why they chose to use it here. Not a bad track but I do feel it sticks out in a negative way. Finally it closes with something that musically feels like a fairytale but the lyrics tell a different story.

Was not enamoured by the start of the album, first few songs. Go To Sleep was good, There There decent, A Wolf At the Door ok, recs from another review, didn't finish the rest of the album.

Radiohead I feel is only as amazing as people say it is, to people who haven't listened to anything else ever. I like them but this album didn't feel special to me

We meet again, Radiohead. An auspicious start to the week? This is a very familiar album cover, even though I don't have this album. 'There, There' was on the countdown for so long - it's one of the few (~50?) music videos I remember clearly, mostly because I hated it and thought it was creepy and boring. Memory aside, the vocals here are so ... thin? high? which is probably why I never got into this "middle era" of Radiohead. Bring back 'Thinking About You'! Bring on 'Weird Fishes'! Still comforting background noise though. Highlight: 'Myxomatosis'

I feel like I have to be in a very specific mood for Radiohead. Their lyrics are good but I often felt like the song dragged on. I did like this album and I think I will come back to it when I'm looking to feel meloncholic.

3.5, starts off strong but the last few songs are just filler, nothing particularly memorable. Some songs are good but they definitely have better stuff out there.

Pretty great but not Radiohead's best work

It is popular to shit on this one, especially for people who don't like radiohead's music. I think it is a lot like some modern art museums I've been to where you can see how thought out the exhibits are, and there are cool techniques at use too, but it's all too miserable and intense at times. I'm not going to hate on a concept album that clearly has an interesting artistic perspective on violence, but about halfway through the moaning and groaning of this one I was considering moving on.

Some really beautiful bits of what's overall a long and drawn out album. Need to give a better chance to indulge the lyricism a big more but for me it wasn't as atmospheric and moving as their big 4 albums have proven to be. Tentative rating: 6.5/10

RATING: 7/10 HIGHLIGHT: There There LOWLIGHT: Go to Sleep

2.8. We Suck Young Blood is grating.

A good Radiohead album, though in their catalog one of the albums I revisit less than some of their others. There's a few really good tracks, some are ok, and one or two I usually want to skip.

I'm not sure what to rate this one, I was bored. Maybe I'm missing something?

(4/7) I never really got the radiohead hype

I was relatively late to the Radiohead party - didn't get excited about them all at the time. I think it's mostly Yorke's whiny voice - bit of turn off for me. That said, they are in my top 100 artists on last.fm, so I mustn't dislike them. This is a fine Radiohead album, if not a good Radiohead album, but there are others that are stronger.

Peak mid

Only Radiohead album with no skips

Love RH. Never heard. Was okay

Dude, this was weird. I mean weird dude. Listening: 5/10 Background: 6/10 Is this even music: 5/10 I liked transformer yesterday more. 3 star. Bro this is weird.

Probably my favorite Radiohead album. That's not saying a ton, but I listened and enjoyed it. I can definitely see how this influenced other bands that I'm really into.

Maybe Radiohead’s slowest, moody, ambient albums with a bit of country twang. Still pretty enjoyable. I think I listened to this album in its best form, late at night in a taxi on the way home. Backdrifts was a highlight, as well as the crescendo of Go to Sleep (which seems like the antithesis to its name unless you want to shove a strong sleeping pills in), the almost emo Where I End and You Begin (with its impeccable bass guitar), and the harrowing There, There (like a broken lullaby). This type of album is also a film soundtrack curator’s delight (We Suck Blood gives real Season 5 Peaky Blinders). Overall, the moodiness of the album doesn’t make it easy listening on a day to day basis, but still a great listen.

I know Radio Head is innovative and widely praised. Somehow, when I listen to it I can both understand it and not love it. I'll give it another go, but I can't say I absolutely loved this album.

I like Radiohead, but this album is not their best.

Baladas agradables

After the success of OK computer I feel like this band decided they could do whatever they want and release it and people would gobble it up as art and creative and awesome. This is awful. It is drivel and lazy sounding. Cannot stand anything they have made since OK Computer which is unbelievably great

I heard it, I don't remember it.

There's so much noise happening here, and I'm just not sure I like the mesh it all creates. Yorke's voice is particularly grating on this, which maybe is appropriate considering the subject matter - although, on that topic, I find myself struggling to identify the point of this record; I understand what they wanted to say, I'm just not sure they really said it. Sail To The Moon is absolutely spectacular, the piano is so beautiful, and the whole thing just convalesces together so well.

Definitely overlong, but feels overrated as well. I enjoyed my time with it but probably won't be returning to more than a couple songs.

6.4 / 10

there are two wolves inside you: one thinks thom yorke is a musical genius and one wants it to end, end, end, end, end,

Has some great trucks, but it’s the only Radiohead album one might consider bloated and overlong.

This isn't that far removed from the stuff I really like from Radiohead, but if anything that only makes me like those albums less.

probably Radiohead's worst, they experiment a lot but don't land a ton of it, and the sound itself isn't that interesting

It was ok. Nothing really grabbed me

I have listened a lot to Radiohead and its a band that I will continue to listen to in the future. Although it was a fun experience today listening through an entire album this band is at its best a few songs at a time for me. Not a favorite band but they do have a lot of really good songs.

Unique production

I was kind of surprised and moderately enjoyed it even though I wasn’t expecting to.

There are some absolute heights on here (2+2=5, There There, Myxomatosis, A Wolf At The Door) but also some pretty boring and bad songs (We Suck Young Blood, The Gloaming, A Punch Up At A Wedding). That, combined with the pretty lengthy runtime, makes for a Radiohead album that is not nearly as good as the run of albums before this. Luckily, they found their strengths back in the album that came after this.

This sounds different from the popular Radiohead songs, you can tell it's radiohead though. I'm listening to the first song currently and I like the transition from soft and powerful vocals to aggressive guitar and the sounds make you feel things. On the second song and I like how the vocals contrast with the background and how they maintain a steady beat that holds the song together. Not exactly my style of music at this part of the song but it was good. Third song I'm liking so far, again not the exact style of music I normally listen to but I enjoy this, I will have to finish it tomorrow though because it is late.

Buen rock

Great album! 2+2=5 is my favorite.

Idk why, with Kid A & OK Computer both being considered not only Radioheads best album but “top 50 albums of all time” lists…..why do we get MORE Radiohead? I weirdly liked this one the most, but after hearing THE albums from the band, I don’t see the reasoning for more. Especially since none of them have realllllyyyyy brought enough variety to justify multiple albums. (True of half this list, but w/e, preaching to the choir)

It was interesting. Not spectacular, I prefer their earlier stuff. Struggling to see why I needed to hear this before I died?

Not my favorite radio head record, but ok

When I think of bleak, atonal Radiohead, this album comes up. There are some bits but not enough. It's in between a two and three. I gave it a three because I hope Duckbill will still hang out with me. Top tracks: "There, There," "Sail to the Moon"

--2 + 2 = 5...creepy anger --Sit Down. Stand Up...a little repetitive but builds to a satisfying climax --Sail to the Moon...creepy beautiful --Backdrifts...one of the rare times when Thom's voice doesn't work for me --Go to Sleep...always liked this acoustic guitar opening --Where I End and You Begin...the bass is good but not one of their best --We Suck Young Blood...not an entertaining track but I'm pretty sure that's the point --The Gloaming...production is very cool --There, There...love the percussion/beat. each instrument isn't doing anything too special, but it all comes together real nice --I Will...more creepiness. the layering of York's voice is great --A Punchup at a Wedding...nice bass, but mid otherwise —Myxomatosis…interesting production but not a great song —Scatterbrain…probably should’ve been the album title —A Wolf at the Door…delete

As always it's hit and miss with Radiohead post Kid A but this is more bleak and weaker than the excellent 'in rainbows'.

Controlled noise with occasional body moving grooves. Nothing memorable. Not my favorite Radiohead

Not their best but there were some undeniable moments.

I’ve listened to this record a multitude of times, but I did relisten front to back yesterday. This may be the best Radiohead album to display their range- in a bad way. “ the gloaming” is the epitome of just making strange noises and calling it a song On on this record there are Also some of my favorites such as “There, There” and “Myxamatosis”. It is possibly one of my least favorite Radiohead records.

Need to listen.

This is my third Radiohead listen of the project, and is the most recently released of the albums I've had generated. It melds the guitar-heavy sound used on "The Bends" with the electronic experimentation of "Kid A" without reaching the heights of either album. It feels rather mediocre for the most part, lacking the songwriting of The Bends and the atmosphere of Kid A. Lyrics are of a similar quality to most Radiohead lyrics. I don't know how essential this particular album is in the Radiohead discography, especially coming after their most seminal works. This could easily have been left off the list without much effect. However, it's not a terrible album, and it will still sound good to devout fans of Radiohead.

Hail to the Thief is possibly the weakest Radiohead album. A couple cool tracks but nothing to write home about.

Their sixth album. Indie Rock / Rock. Radiohead are classed on here for me as a 'controversial artist'. My ratings for them are either very high or low. I'm putting this one in the middle. 2.5 rounded up to a 3. The vocals just get to me after a while and not in a good way. The musicianship, writing and arrangements etc are brilliant. It's just those damn vocals.

not my favorite radiohead album if im being real.

What I’d call a very solid Radiohead album. Not quite at the calibre of their high standard stuff but solid for Radiohead is good for anything else… slightly too mopy at times but ill sit it at a solid 7/10 in my books

Meseta entre dos picos

I think I liked this, even it was a little too long. The lyrics of this album are a little abstruse to me, but maybe that's the case for every Radiohead record. The vocals are both grating and impressive at times, which was an interesting dichotomy to experience. Overall it's not bad, but nowhere near the best Radiohead has to offer. Three stars. (Favorite track: A Wolf at the Door.)

Very cool and of the times but feels like they were playing with new music tech like drum machines and updated DAWs and they relied on the novelty of that instead of the creativity they're known for. Radiohead is a head above the rest but def not their best work. Highlights: There, There

7/10 - at least until I find the time to listen to it in a dark room and understand it Fav Tracks: 2+2=5, There, There, A Punch Up at a Wedding Saved a Song? ----- ✅ Saved Album? ------ ❌ Will Listen Again? --- ✅

Disappointed by this. Have loved other Radiohead albums I've listened to, but this was just not my thing overall. It did have some highlights tho. Myxomatosis was my fav song and first listen. 2+2=5 and A Wolf At The Door were my other highlights

I wasn't listening to much new music when Radiohead came on the scene (my kid's birth through early years) and so was late to the party. Now when I hear them, it takes me a while to register who it is. I like what I hear and ask myself, "why don't I listen to more Radiohead?". Then I listen to the rest of the album and wonder if it's on repeat, and remember why I don't listen to more Radiohead. I like their sound, but can't tell their songs apart. :) 3 stars

A solid 7/10. Great album. You can tell how strong Radiohead is here. It has a bit of everything—moments that really hit, others that feel more experimental and don’t fully land for me. Still, the atmosphere and ideas are there. I respect it more than I love it… but it definitely has some standout tracks.

The melancholic voice of Yorke is nice to listen to... Sparingly. An entire album of soft anxiousness can get boring after a while. But, I do appreciate whenever the guitars start to shred in this album. Just wish there was more of it like in The Bends.

I live for Radiohead but they definitely have better albums

5/10 I liked this more than Kid A but unless future albums hit harder I think I'm just not a big Radiohead guy.

This was decent but not my favorite Radiohead

Not Radiohead's best. It's not bad, but falls short of their other albums, and it feels hard to say that it deserves a spot on this list.

5/10 Best songs: 2 + 2 = 5, There, There, Myxomatosis No matter how much I've tried, I am not a Radiohead fan, mainly because I hate Thom Yorke's voice and singing style. The music also bugs: it's often in a minor key, which, while unique (particularly when they manage to get their ways out of it), is off-putting to the extreme. Both voice and music are at their best when the song reaches a climax, emphasizing intensity, or the culmination of a rising period of building tension. The problem is that half the songs don't have this, which, again, is off-putting. I appreciate that the band is doing something unique - they are breaking the rules of what music "should" be - but man, it just doesn't sound very good to me.

Nice album but I liked ok computer more

less mainstream record but still so many bangers - sail to the moon, there there, myxomatosis, a wolf at the door. the whole record feels complete and has a cohesion

I do like Radiohead, but not so much this album. I kind of lost interest after "Kid A". It's diverse, complex even, but for me too experimental. There are some good songs, such as "2+2=5" and "There There", but overall I find it hard to digest. I have tried to love it like the other albums before it, but I struggle. I know I should love it, but it is what it is. A very, very, hard to give 3.

#100, and a Radiohead album too! 2+2=5 starts it off alright, I don’t love the slow start of the track, but as soon as the rest of the instruments kick in it becomes a bit of a bop. Sit down stand up had some really nice percussion. Sail to the moon had some of that sweet whining that Radiohead is known for, but it wasn’t too bad. It was actually quite melodic and pretty in a way. Backdrifts was weird. But what else am I to expect. Go To Sleep picked up the pace a bit, and I really enjoyed it. Where I end and you begin was almost haunting. I thought it was quite a good track. We suck young blood was even more haunting. It’s not my style of music, but it totally has its place. Similar thoughts on The Gloaming. There, There was honestly good. No comments here. A Will again wasnt really my thing, but half of Radiohead isn’t going to be. I liked the piano in A Punch up at a Wedding. Myxomatosis was actually sick!! I thought it was the best track on this album. Scatterbrain was alright, and to close I did actually enjoy a Wolf at the Door. 3/5 ⭐️ 100/1089

Despite liking Radiohead, this album slipped by me completely. In 2003 I was a first year teacher, newly married and had other things on my mind. File sharing websites were on their way out, and streaming music was still a few years off, making hearing it a challenge. In subsequent years the band has expressed disappointment that this album felt unfinished and bloated with too many songs. Album rankings by fans often place this near the bottom just above the lackluster debut. With all this said, I’m surprised to see this as a part of the albums list. I listened with an open mind twice through and ultimately agreed with the bands own sentiment. We Suck Young Blood could have easily been left on the cutting room floor. Other tracks felt a bit aimless. There are some outstanding tracks here. 2+2=5 was the one I was familiar with. Sail to the Moon is absolutely gorgeous and There There easily stands among Radioheads best songs. This album seems to be a band in transition from the highly experimental Kid A and Amnesiac to firing on all cylinders a few years later with the fantastic In Rainbows album.

I didn't hate it but I've been disappointed with the radiohead stuff so far. I don't know much of their catalog so I've been excited to try them

To me Radiohead starting with Kid A is that band that is a gateway drug to experimental music. Have they been doing it as long as say Matmos, no. But they are a commercially successful band making interesting music. This is not their best but I still like it.

auch eher eines der schlechteren radiohead alben?

hab nicht aufgepasst, war aber ok

Think I went in expecting a different sound but not bad

Radiohead is a band I should like, but I'm just kinda meh about them. Their good songs are incredibly good, but the rest are meh at best. This album is fine.

168/1001 When you release a string of great albums followed by this dud, it’s called experimental. The cognitive dissonance of it. This band is clearly good but I don’t like this. It must be me. I’ll listen to it again. Actually, I’ll just play The bends instead. 5/10

Typical radiohead experience, good, id listen to it again

Nice love Radiohead. Not my favourite of theirs but very good.

First Listen; 3.5; Really enjoyed the vibe and ambience of the album, but at the same time, it felt like there weren’t a ton of standout tracks. But when listened to together, I think the sum is more than its parts. Favorite Track: There, There

3.5, not Radiohead's best but pretty enjoyable.

Ver nota anterior

Interesting.

Big Radiohead fan, this is probably my least favourite of their albums

it's fine. not really in the mood for this shit today, but it vibes with the depression I guess.

Interesting and cool album, but not really playlist worthy. 3

More listenable than Kid A and Amnesiac. Underrated as Radiohead albums go maybe. But still a bit too Radioheady for me to give more than a 3.4.

I enjoyed the live version of this that was recently teleased probably more than this. Possibly my least favourite Radiohead album.

Looks as though Radiohead have a 6 album run on here, from Bends thru In Rainbows, seems a little excessive, drop this one and/or Amnesiac and add Moon Shaped Pool insteaf!!

Left me with a sense of “what might have been”. Doesn’t really land that often enough for me to get excited about. It’s inventive and eclectic, it’s just not that good.

Even though In Rainbows and OK Computer are far better records, this album is still pretty good.

Oh man, my first Radiohead album and it's pretty mid. I have admittedly only listened to Radiohead in passing, and never a full album all the way through. This wasn't bad and had some really good moments, but was all kind of one note and not super interesting album to me. Maybe it's just the hype surrounding this band (see the fans proclaiming they're better than the Beatles, which may be true but ask the general public here in America to name a Radiohead song that isn't Creep and I'd be surprised if you get another song) but I just don't quite get it. That being said, this is apparently one of the lower regarded albums in their catalogue, so maybe I'll have my mind blown. It is an album I'll listen to again due to the political nature and current events that are eerily similar to what led to this album. Curious if I'll change my mind on this album due to that, but I am trying to rate these within the week I listen to them. 3/5. Song added to playlist - 2+2=5. What a banger of an opening song, though the rest of the album was just okay to me.

To me, it started off a bit rocky, but got better as the album went along. I really enjoyed A Punch Up at a Wedding! Some songs were forgettable, others were good. It was a bit of a mixed bag. But overall I enjoyed discovering Radiohead more.

I love radiohead, but i never found this album very compelling. Hits all the radiohead notes for me, but none of these tracks have lastings power

beep boop this album was blorp

i cannot get into radiohead, i’ve tried. the production here is good, the singing is good, but their style and taste just doesn’t appeal to me. my favourite song was punch up at a wedding.

Ooh, Thom Yorke, a fellow Autechre fan!

Has some brilliant songs. Way too long and padded.

its not my favorite radiohead album, its nice tho

By the time Hail To the Thief came out I had pretty much forgotten about Radiohead. Outside of the two songs I kinda remember, it doesn't really have anything that you can't get on earlier records and done better.

Forgettable then forgettable now, it brings me no joy to report

Not my style but I liked the latter half of the album more

My first real Radiohead listening. I need to dive deeper and appreciate more.

Thief of Variety I’d give this album a 3 out of 5. I enjoy a bit of Radiohead, and there’s a lot of interesting stuff here, but it does get a bit repetitive in places. Some tracks stand out more than others, but a few start to blur together. I didn’t dislike the experience, but I wasn’t fully immersed either. I saw someone compare Radiohead to the Rick and Morty of music, where the fans act like you need to be some kind of genius to “get it,” and I have to agree. People don’t like when you say albums sound the same or repetitive, but I genuinely feel this one does feel a bit repetitive at times. Overall, it’s a decent listen. I had fun with it, but it’s not going to become one I go back to constantly.

Like an experimental in rainbows. Not the biggest fan but there were some bangers (2+2=5, there, there), but the sequencing threw me off. All in all 3 stars

I definitely liked this album more than Kid A

Fine but not my fave

I suppose it was only a matter of time before more Radiohead entered the chat. There’s so much interesting stuff going on musically that it almost makes up for how whiny Thom sounds. More so than usual. A headphones listen for sure, but not one of their best. Could easily have been left off the list of essential listens. 3/5

Not the album I would use to introduce someone to Radiohead. This album is messier and less pleasant to me than In Rainbows, the other album I've had on this list so far. Not to say there's not any good in there. Myxomatosis and There There are both good, and the stuff in between is... Alright. But they've made better before and since this album.

I remember this album as the one where I realized I no longer LOVED everything Radiohead released, for the first time since Pablo Honey. I didn't hate or even dislike this one, I just didn't love it and have felt pretty much the same about everything they've released since then, which seems insane that it was 23 years ago now. Having not listened to this album in about 20 years, I liked it more than I remembered liking it. I liked the sparseness of "Backdrifts" into the jangly "Go to Sleep," which kind of sounds to me like if Nick Drake had formed a band and had access to a modern studio. Liked the drum sound on "Where I End and You Begin." Not sure how many times I made it all the way to "A Wolf at the Door" but it doesn't sound familiar to me. Better than I remembered but still not one of my favorite Radiohead albums.

I’ve heard this before and I own it as well. I don’t remember how long it’s been since the last time I listened to it but it might have been 15 years or more, to the point I don’t remember many of the songs. I liked Radiohead a lot in the 90s but stopped following them in the 00s as I was getting into other bands and genres. So it’s nice coming back to this. Builds on what they were doing in the last 2 albums with electronics and other instrumentation but no wild departures. Altogether the album is very well put together and every song is good, but not as strong as Ok Computer or Kid A, and only 2 or 3 songs jumped out as being great. Maybe needs a second listen to fully appreciate. I went back and relistened and all in all the songs are all solid but in the end not very moving.

I know this gets rated as like GOAT albums but it's just a bit much for me. Not really my style. Some stuff I like, other stuff is just alright.

Sail to the moon and I will were pretty but the rest was only okay. Mostly felt like filler but had some cool moments

There there

It was okay, only a few songs I'd actually listen to

Honestly one of the weaker ones, not sure why it's on this list. There, There is great though.

Not my fave Radiohead album.

cool listened to before

Bukvalno me znam šta da kažem, album niti smrdi niti miriše. Ocena je 3/5

There's much reason to the fact that Hail To The Thief took the longest time for me to get through. 2 + 2 = 5 was always a great opener, but when Sit Down Stand Up came next, I began to ask "What's the deeper purpose of me listening to this?". There seems to be two types of songs that either are successful or subpar in their missions. Success is found on There, There with its gratifying build and climax or Sail To The Moon where Thom Yorke's falsetto soothes the lunar surface. I don't feel the same for We Suck Young Blood or Backdrifts which show up and become forgettable midway through. The only reason why this album is still remotely well-regarded by me is because the last four tracks are all great. Punch-up, Myxomatosis, Scatterbrain and Wolf At The Door all work very well to wrap up the record. Prior to that though, you get a very mixed bag of electronic/rock scramble that feels like it should be bigger as a whole. I don't think the goal was to make another "OK Computer" or "Kid A" because those sessions were beyond stressful. Radiohead just wanted to make something that was grounded rather than groundbreaking. In that case, they were successful, but it's not something I would return to on a full-listen basis frequently (7/10, 3/5 on this scale)
