sooo s 4. radiohead album! 2+2=5 findi recht cool s nächste lied isch chliii monoton BIS DE BE ABGAAAHT ohh sail to the moon isch sehrsehr cool! ja backdrifts isch halt radiohead han leidr chli abgschalte we suckyoung blood hetmi wieder chli wachgrüttlet! there, there het en suuuuper ufbau myxomatosis isch au wieder seeehr cool und rhythmisch suuper jaa es isch cool gsi, radiohead gsi aber mengisch für mich echli too much. oder genau z wenig.

I have actually never listened to Radiohead. Album was pretty good, I can hear the political influence and I've become to appreciate that in music more, especially as it ages. It's a good mix and what I imagined Radiohead to sound like I suppose. I can imagine if I was a Radiohead fan that I would have loved this album when it came out. The vocals in most of the songs sound like a ghost is haunting me, but I can't say I hate it. Singer actually kind of reminds me of the Grouplove lead singer at times. I like the guitar, piano, and drums.

A bit whiny vocals

Not my favorite Radiohead album

Hail to the thief came after such creative high from the band that it was almost impossible to do better than OKC/Kid A. They almost pulled it off, maybe if they trimmed the track list down. Or maybe that's just part of the charm. There are some high points of the band in here 2+2=5, Myxomatosis, There, There and A Wolf At The Doors can stand up next to the big tracks from their discog. But, why is The Gloaming the track that the band did the most post HTTT tour? Beats me. Since I've already shared the Thom entering without closing doors meme here's another one... https://youtu.be/1th0JYF4LbY Hail to the Thief? It's a 6/10, way too long for me, the band disagrees on what track(s) they shouldn't have put out with the album, so I'm not going to list them.

5/10 The Radiohead album I come back to the least in their discography, while by all means it is a serviceable album with a couple of fantastic tracks in it, it’s sandwiched between some of the most experimental songs in their career and one of the most pristinely written songs of their career. Hail To the Thief is a nice serving of “pales in comparison”, with mainly half baked ideas and songs that I think only really appeal to the most hardcore Radiohead fans. Gaydiohead

first time i’ve listened to radiohead cover to cover, and while i get it, it’s just not for me

not better than amnesiac but still good

Not my favorite Radiohead album

Sound like a band very much up their own respective backsides.

trancelike smooth repetitive rock w/ wailing vocals. 3.5/5

liked songs: Sit Down. Stand Up, Backdrifts, Myxomatosis Good but not excellent. 3.5

Some nice tracks

This was alright on re-listen. It had been a good dozen years or more since I last sought this album out. There are better albums that represent Radiohead's overall sound and aesthetic as a whole ('The Bends' and 'OK Computer' are significantly better), and while this was a return to form after everyone had a kneejerk reaction by immediately rejecting 'Kid A' and 'Amnesiac,' when those first dropped, this album doesn't hold up over time. To me, it lacked emphasis in any way shape or form but rather their attempt at a course correction to service the fans. In '03 or '04 I probably would have rated this fairly high. But upon a re-evaluation, it's pretty middle of the road Radiohead, almost forgettable.

4/8/2025: Pretty good.

Its radiohead so of course its good. I'd just listen to kid a instead personally

Not their finest, apart from There There

I never vibed with Radiohead, but overall I think I liked this record. Once again I think it'll take some more listens to have a fully-formed opinion here, but I'll revisit this for sure.

This is no longer on the list, but FOUR other albums by this group are. I like this fine but it's optional for canon.

Even after all these years, I still don't "get" radiohead. It's fine? "Light industrial droning"? Oddly, I'm liking the recent incarnation as The Smile. But yea...it's really hard for me to sit through an entire Radiohead album. I went looking for why this was on the list and...I dunno...it seems to be "because they made another album." There's 3 other Radiohead albums on this list, fer fuck's sake. I'm getting the feeling this list is really the "1001 albums you must hear before you die (that were performed by artists from the UK or US only)."

I think I don’t like Radiohead. I don’t really understand why they’re so hyped. Sonically, it’s pretty good, but the vocals sound whiny and, at least on this album, the lyrics aren’t as provoking as they think they are

Listened to half as I’ve been ill, wasn’t the Radiohead I was expecting and a little disappointing as I went in with high hope, still deserves a high 6. 6.8/10.

Good, but not my favorite Radiohead Album

Just not nearly as good as OK Computer. It was just OK but not great.

I really like some of Radiohead's early albums...but this one isn't anything special.

Like the last few songs, foind the first half repetitive

I liked this one. I don’t usually listen to Radiohead but this was good!

Not bad. Way better than Pet Shop Boys. At least the songs didn’t all sound the same.

i like radiohead. this didn't have any major standout songs to me but it's a cool vibe and a slightly different sound from their other albums (all of which I've enjoyed as i discover them)

nice enough

Great start but with a lot of disappointing songs after the first three. Definitely not nearly as great as other radiohead albums

At some point, this feels like Björk..

Mixed bag for me. I generally enjoy the band but have never loved a drum machine. It’s really one stylistic choice however it’s a choice with an album long implication. For me that dampens the sound overall. Maybe it’s mean to feel a little grating and out of place considering the band, in which case well done. Still not a bad listen. I probably won’t be back for the full run but I saved A Punch up at a Wedding and A Wolf at the Door for shuffle purposes. High 2 low 3.

I like Radiohead’s style. Most of the songs on this album were “good”, but nothing special. A couple stuck out to me: “I Will”, and “A Wolf at the Door”. Still not quite enough to break above 3 stars.

Less whiny but more mumbly. Still over rated.

I liked OK Computer, but after that I didn't really pay attention to Radiohead. After listening to this one I don't mind my relapse. They've gone to the other end of what I find interesting; minimal, laxed, artsy... a lot of the things I often do not care for. Sadly I feel I have nothing to say about this album, which is ofter even worse fate that hated. Meh.

I like Radiohead but this was not my favorite. It seemed like a collection of songs that were not good enough for other albums.

Comprends le bail mais c'est long au bout d'un moment 3

It sounds a little bit like a rock version of Kid A. It was pretty good

That's not my taste in music - But ok

за один день сложно радиохед понять, помню только уууааааааа, надо будет потом подольше всю дискографию послушать, пока только поняла что не бесит)

good, better than kid a for sure

I like Radiohead, but have never quite connected with this album. I love Kid A and Amnesiac and sort of feel like every other Radiohead album is superfluous, but that’s definitely just me.

I was excited when this album came up but upon relistening I realize while there are some good tracks this album kinda drags for me in some parts. The 4 album run that proceeds HTTT are some of my favorite records of all time but this one is a step back.

For some reason I could never get into this album. Still prefer the earlier Radiohead albums to this.

Decent. Nothing that stood out about it though.

Was okay, but nothing really stuck

Loved 90s and early 200s radiohead but this isn't nowhere near as good. It's pretty solid in places but just sounds overly boring to me

Good just not my thing

Decent listen.

I like this one a bit more now than when it was first released, but even though they brought some rock instrumentation back into the mix it still didn’t quite fully grab me. It’s impressive that they knocked this out over a brief two-week period as opposed to the years long process of earlier efforts, which confirms that they truly operate in the extremes. Other than that, it sounds…well…like Radiohead.

Sounds like radio head. I really have no idea how these guys right songs. Like thom just starts chanting high pitched and they just build some noises around it. Not my fave but not terrible.

Wasn’t expecting this Radiohead album. I remember being disappointed when it was released back in the day. I like it more now but it is still one of my least favorites from them. Not great Radiohead is still pretty good, tho. I’m rounding down to make space for the 4 other albums I expect will be on this list. 3.5/5

I just don’t get these guys. I try and try and try. Lame. It’s still three stars but I think Radiohead is one of the most overrated bands in music history.

Not my type of Radiohead

Ei ehkä yhden kuuntelun perusteella mun levy. Ihan ok. Ei kuitenkaan välttämättä sellainen, että palaisin uudelleen.

I really like "2+2=5" and "There, There," and there are a few other songs that are good, but there are several songs on this album that are too bland, and the overall album just suffers for it, making it the first Radiohead album since Pablo Honey that I did not like and still don't, overall. I do have more of an appreciation for this album as time goes on, but I'd just rather listen to The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, or In Rainbows, which I think are all 5 star albums, in their own ways.

Not one of their best but still enjoyable. 3.5 stars

Still a good listen.

I'm typically really into Radiohead and their experimentation. However.. This is messy, paranoid, and only *kinda* brilliant. Gimme digital glitches, eerie ballads, and anxious rock, please. It’s like an early malfunctioning AI producing the record. Sometimes the chaos works, sometimes it’s just… a lot. A little exhausting. I almost think this works better with your eyes closed and just enjoying the ride. Spins: 3 Playlist Additions: - 2 + 2 = 5 - There, There

bloated. some hits but it isn't incredible overall, they've got better albums

radiohead album

It is wacky, a little out there. Its alternative, and I like that about it. I think the second half of the album is more my thing than the first half. Best song on the album is 'A Punch Up at a Wedding'

Listenable.

Radiohead is way more noisy than I realized. Some good tracks, but a lot of noisy stuff I don't care for as much. Some I think could be okay if I was in the mood, others not so great.

Decent enough but nothing grabs me for a relisten

This is objectively pretty good, but it’s probably my least favorite Radiohead.

Not my favourite Radiohead album, but still enjoyable 3/5

Love and yet hate Radiohead sometimes. Some of the harder rocky bits are phenomenal then they add in some of the droning bits and I hope that it's building up to another mad crescendo but some songs just fade out miserabley. It's not terrible by any means I makes me feel like I'm missing out 😅

solid but too soft for me

interesting sound. a punch at a wedding sounds like marillion tbh

3.5? I need to listen to this again

Meh 3/5

Jag blir aldrig riktigt en radiohead-fan. Det är ju bra, men jag kommer inte riktigt in i det.

Radiohead albums have an ethereal, haunting quality that make them hard for me to enjoy.

I'm at peace with the fact that Radiohead is not for everyone. There are times when I really dig what they're doing, and I appreciate that they make unique music...I just don't always like it. I found this album a little more enjoyable than "Kid A" and "OK Computer" though, which probably means Radiohead fans like it less. 3.3

The opener 2 + 2 = 5 is pretty good. Sail To the Moon as well. This album is sounding a lot like Muse. By song 5 I feel I've heard all that's on the album and am ready for it to end. The most streamed song There, There was just tedious. I will has a nice melody but poor/weird lyrics. Myxomatosis and Scatterbrain are good. A Wolf at the Door is a good closer. This album has some good songs but the middle droned on a bit too much.

I really did not like this on first listen, but saw some of the other positive reviews and decided to give this another run at a different time when I could focus on it more. On second listen, I think I got it more, but still didn't like the songs where Thom is mumbling the same lyrics over and over (Sit Down Stand Up and The Gloaming come to mind) or were just straight electronic-sounding (Myoxmatosis is another example). The shit just sounds so jumbled and creates a few down points on the album. I much preferred the songs that had that a good blend of electro with rock like There, There or 2+2=5 or Scatterbrain. Sail to the Moon and We Suck Young Blood are really haunting tracks that sounded a lot better after a relisten. All in all, some of this album worked for me and some didn't. Strong 3, but couldn't get it quite to a 4 for me. I'm glad I relistened to it though and might come back to it once I get more Radiohead albums under my belt.

More whining from Mr. Thom and this one never quite got me in a groove. Backdrifts was a standout. Best thing about Radiohead is the production. Otherwise, they aren't really my style.

Not really my thing but I didn’t hate it. It felt very long though. I liked There, there and A Wolf at the Door

Pretty decent. Added “We Suck Young Blood” and “Myxomatosis”

I've found that I like Radiohead's earlier records much more. This one is still good and can have its place, but their older stuff just feels better to me.

Not bad

Not bad but not my kind of music

Listening whilst doing dailies. We’ll see what happens. Radiohead is cool! Melancholy though. Didn’t miss what I didn’t hear.

I've always had mixed feelings about Radiohead and this album doesn't help. Some of the tracks sound like the soundtrack to some pyschological horror movie and/or mental breakdown. Not as commercial as some of their other albums.

3- sonically this album is a 5. However thom Yorkes annoying voice is a 1. Overall enjoyment of the album is a 3

It was an interesting album from a song writing and sound engineering perspective. Very creative. Things get so fuzzy and static charged that it's like they are inventing a new genre of ASMR rock. I think it's not an album that I take to right away but there's a lot going on here and probably deserves quite a few more listens for me to really get my ears in it. Kind of a break through for me listening to this album cuz I started thinking about the band's music more from a jazz or art perspective than from a traditional "alt-rock" genre. Sound painting.

Obvious musicianship, as always with Radiohead. But I can't relax around this kind of falsetto harmonization unless it's Art Garfunkel (or maybe Axl Rose!). The great songs remain good. The rest can be difficult.

Not their best work, but a few decent songs. Overall pretty melancholy, whiny, and slow even by Radiohead standards.

Don't mind Radiohead - Where I End and You Begin is probably my favorite for this album :) Album as a whole isn't too bad, very much background music though nothing special.

I don't love the main guy's voice. I do like this artsier rock though.

This is Radiohead being Radiohead. Loud, sensitive, meandering, avant-guarde, the works. No one track grabbed me, which isn’t typical for their albums - but instead the whole thing washed over me.

Never was a fan of this album despite loving Radiohead. I see glimpses of the aspects I like but overall this is a disappointing showing. Fav Track: There, There

Fav song was backdrift, I like the funky intro! Sounded like the shit I listened to to clean my room when I was 15 and trying to be alty - tb to my choker stage

Well it’s definitely not in rainbows 😔 🫡 sail 2 the moon does kinda slap tho

Interesting album that I can see myself revisiting Best track: Myxomatosis

I liked it, but it was far from my favourite album of theirs. I feel like it was missing the soul of the previous albums and at times sounded kinda aimless.

I’ll just never get it

I'm not really sure about that. I'll have to relisten when I grow up

Production is ok not my thing

Enjoyed the last 3 songs the most, felt it was a very sad dark genre, familiar with Radiohead but isn’t my usual cup of tea. Myxomatosis was a strong piece of music

Better than I expected. Three or four listens in and I feel I can do another three or four more. Lyrics are getting to me more so than other albums..3 stars with potential for more.

This album has its ups and downs, but it's overall a decent listen.

Look, I like Radiohead. I think Radiohead has many five star albums. I think Radiohead is a group that deserves multiple entries on this list. But Jesus Christ they put every freaking Radiohead album they ever made on here while completely ignoring other artists. So if you have to pass on one of their 17 submissions, I might make it this one

Not my favorite Radiohead album but I like their sound enough for a 3

Raro. No mal, tampoco increíble. Solo raro.

Banger album, not the best radiohead has produced though

Good music for a cold, rainy day

This is a weird one. Many of the songs are good, like 2+2, Where I End, There There and A Wolf. However, it doesn’t feel like a proper album. The sequencing is weird and makes the album hard to «get».

Alright

Alot of it just didnt sound amazing. Of course a few radio head bangers but alot of it didnt jive with me

More accessible than I thought it would be, but kind of heavy-handed and grim, even for Radiohead. Nothing really stood out.

I'm pretty new to Radiohead, so I hadn't heard this one before. I like both their rock era and electronic era, so I dig the sound of this one. That said, fewer tracks stood out to me than I expected. ("Where I End and You Begin," "There, There," and "Myxomatosis" were the highlights for me.) I think if I wanted to listen to Radiohead, I'd probably just pick a different album. 3 stars.

idk radiohead just isn't really for me

Gonna have to listen to this one again.

I do get why you’d make something like OK Computer, basically building the blueprint for experimental rock, with the world sitting with baited breath for your next move… and go nuclear with what Radiohead did next. But that doesn’t mean I particularly enjoy it. Thom Yorke stopped singing like a rock singer and adopted his fractured, falsetto style, Johnny Greenwood basically abandoned the guitar for synths and the drums became mechanical and stuttering. Hail To The Thief is probably the ‘rockiest’ of their experimental shift from where I’m sitting but I just can’t get on board with it. I’m craving a riff, hook or melody in the swirling murk. Maybe if they’d always been like this, I’d have appreciated it more but I’m just frustrated that what we had on The Bends and OK seems to have been thrown out. There are some nice moments but it’s too much hard work to go through this and keep finding them amongst the discordant space debris.

Was not familiar with any of the songs, not my favorite Radiohead album. Maybe I wasn't depressed enough to properly enjoy it. However I did still really like these songs: 2+2=5, sail to the moon

A little goes a long way

More of a The Bends guy I guess

I have no recollection of ever listening to this album. It's got some cracking songs thank goodness and not as w*nky as the last effort. Bit too long ...

Radiohead remain such a marmite band for me. Thom Yorke is capable of singing like an angel, and yet so often he drones. The album is never unlistenable, but a lot of it blurs into one for me, so it never quite gets above the level of “background noise.” I’m starting to think that my love of In Rainbows is an exception to my usual take on Radiohead. Standout Song: We Suck Young Blood Score: 3/5

This is my least favorite of all their albums. I remember feeling disappointed a bit from it. Still some good gems but I don’t return to it much.

Sad boi

Sonically interesting with some good songs. Plenty of unique percussion and engaging rhythmic elements. The music is good, and the tones and textures always sound good. Except his voice. Man I hate his voice.

This was fine but I’ve never gotten the hype of Radiohead. Above average background music for me

I think that I’ve always had the opinion that Radiohead was kind of boring. Like their biggest song is Creep which is pretty boring. I kind of liked it though

Didn’t dislike this one but liked it less than previous album I listened to.

Some very good songs, will need to listen again as it can rise to perhaps a 4.

Still sad boi music but more radiohead esq. Fav song 2+2=5

Oddly enough Radiohead is one of those bands that I just never could get into or understand. Their music isn’t bad or anything, it’s just not exciting? Maybe it’s also his voice/vocal style that is a little stale sounding to me. Music is subjective of course and I can see why people adore them.

Fluttery, indecisive, prone to pretentiousness. No boldness in any way.

altern. Rock, 2003 -> 3

Solid, but better Radiohead exists

2 + 2 = 5 Where I End and You Begin There There Myxomatosis A Wolf at the Door

not really listened to these before but i liked it and will check out more

Not my favorite Radiohead album. I like the mix of electronic and more typical guitar rock, but the whininess of his voice got a little old.

wow, maybe they DID make a radiohead album for me. 3.5

angering every indie music boy I ever knew by calling this one "fine?"

Just can't get into radiohead. This was sunshade ok but had a lot of posts i just find boring.

Alright for me. Solid 3

Comparing it to other Radiohead albums, this is a strong three.

Dislike his voice hardcore. Music is ok, though it's not a great morning listen. Kinda puts me to sleep.

bueno, pero muy experimental

I like Radiohead. I didn’t think this was their best album. I generally liked the songs but nothing stood out.

Everyone's second least favourite Radiohead album? Definitely too long. Glad I tried Thom Yorke's alternative track list, which is a superior version and would definitely up its star rating by one.

I certainly wasn't cool enough to be listening to this when it came out, and maybe I'm still not cool enough.. All hail to Thom Yorke. This album has always passed me by and never quite hit so much. I would place this among the lesser albums from them. It was made in the time of George W Bush being president and in the aftermath of 9/11. A bit too all over the place, too long, not consistent enough.

There was a time when this album probably woulda hit hard, but now it's mostly dated, probably about 20 minutes too long, and not really very interesting. Comfortably in the radiohead catalog with nothing to distinguish it.

once again---fine

Not fave radiohead but still decent

Not sure what all the hype is with this band.

Started to loose interest around the time of this album

I’m a decent Radiohead fan. When I’m in the mood they can be a great band. Though I will say they are a group Id probably never want to see Live , they are definition of listening to experimental melancholy music at home. They just don't conduct to many sing along numbers Now of all Radiohead Discography this is probably the one I rank lowest (besides “Pablo Honey” which I should give another listen too) , yes I’m one of the crazy fans that loves “The King Of Limbs) This record is still decent but it’s kinda scattered brained (no relation the song haha) and it’s a little drawn out Standout Tracks 2+2 = 5 SIT DOWN, STAND UP (favourite song on here) Sail To The Moon Backdrifts Where I End and You Begin We Suck Young Blood (works better as a standalone song) There , There I Will Myxomatosis ((works better as a standalone song) A Wolf At The Door In hindsight this everything Radiohead does well but is not taking the material to that next level. It’s not even that experimental by their standards. It’s a record that wants to do everything and in the end accomplishes almost nothing 3/5. (If I was to listen to each track on a song by song basis then it could be a 4 but with them all here in one BIG PACKAGE It doesn’t work as a body of work.)

I've never listened to this; I went off Radiohead before this. Some nice stuff but, mostly they're still up their own arses. And to the reviewer who suggested watching their 2003 Glastonbury performance. I did, live — had a miserable time watching guitarists play their effects pedals while refusing to play a hit.

Just not a Radiohead fan.

Not one radioheads strongest albums but I enjoyed the listen

Not my favorite albums there but very interesting

5+ listens, still can't decide if interesting or boring. Fine as background music at least.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed Amnesiac, so I had high hopes for this album. While it didn’t live up to those hopes, there were parts of it I really liked. And while I enjoyed it, I still don’t get why they have so many albums in the best ever. I keep listening to see if I can get it.

1st Radiohead album I've listened to from beginning to end. Pretty good, I missed out on a lot of their music as I was heavy into house/trance when they got big. It's good though, Im in.

I like Radiohead, but i think that this is an inconsistent effort.  It's certainly nice to hear more guitars on this one, but I struggled to listen all the way through. I guess I'm more of a Bends person. Liked Songs Added: - 2 + 2 = 5 - Where I End And You Begin - There, There

It’s good. Not my favorite Radiohead album (king of thieves takes the cake)

OK ***

Definitely the worst Radiohead album I've listened to but worth the listen... liked the jungle aspect in some of the songs but felt a bit strange generally. Will undoubtedly give another listen at some point. 3.2

Only my second Radiohead album I’ve listened to (other being OK Computer). It’s cool, I like it, but I don’t know, it’s just not my vibe. Maybe something about Thom Yorke’s vocals, something about the music just doesn’t stick with me. Faves: 2 + 2 = 5, We Suck Young Blood

I listened to this album twice and was surprised how bored I was with it on the second listen (that's what I get for listening to it while working the first go around). Don't get me wrong, there's some really enjoyable songs (There, There) and moments (the fuzz on Myxomatosis and the beeps and boops on A Punch Up at a Wedding). Yet, I feel like overall, it's just a less punchy version of Ok Computer. Favorite song(s): There, There, 2 + 2 = 5 Least favorite: The Gloaming Knew before? no

Too many radio head albums on this list. Sorry, but they are not all unique enough to have so many here.

Solid outing for the start of the work week. Excellent contemporary band that fits the times

72/100 very strong 3

Not one of Radiohead's best overall, but there are multiple amazing songs and it is still high quality

A couple of songs I really liked, some others I was just lukewarm on. Overall a nice album, not my favorite of theirs though.

I enjoyed listening to this. My enjoyment peaked around Backdrifts and Go To Sleep, but then it waned. I'm sure I'd get more into it if I listened to it more, but I can't imagine putting this on often. It feels like hard work.

Not one of my favorites by them but definitely a great album.

to me this is pretty boring I prefer more base to mine enough to shake a car and anything im not really into smooth music i like it aggressive

I like this album but I don't think it is their best work. It just doesn't catch my attention and isn't really my vibe. I'm sure I will listen to it again because it is decent just not my favorite Radio Head album (OK Computer is my favorite).

First album on this app! Am very excited to begin the journey. All of these will be listened to while I am working so I won't be 100% locked in on every song. But from what I got from this album it was a solid start! Am not the biggest fan of Radiohead's music - this album being no exception. Solid 3/5 for me.

First Radiohead album I’ve come across om this list. I think this album is fairly mid when it comes to Radiohead. The highs on this album are high but the lows unfortunately outweigh those highs. That being said there are some killer tracks individually but as a whole project it feels a bit bloated and over stays it welcome. Fav tracks: 2+2=5, Sail to the Moon, Where I end and you begin, there there, a wolf at the door

Consistently good but rarely great. I know Radiohead can do better because I have heard four projects from them that I love.

Not a fan

I really need to listen to their albums in chronological order. I liked it, but not as much as I thought I would and I can't even tell why

one of their worst albums

We Suck Young Blood, 2 + 2 = 5, There There, A Punchup at a Wedding, Scatterbrain, A Wolf at the Door

Ok. So. Radiohead. A band I have tried many times to properly appreciate. Lots of people I love and have huge respect for adore this band. And when I hear them talk about why, it always draws me in. I always think, wow, that band sounds amazing and right up my alley. And then I go and listen, and I have an experience roughly similar to when I read The Lord of the Rings. I love reading ABOUT Lord of the Rings. But actually reading it? Well... Likewise, listening to Radiohead always pales in comparison to hearing people discuss Radiohead. Mostly that comes down to the vocal. For me, I either love the singer and that makes me connect powerfully with the music, or I just can't stand the sound of their voice and it makes listening a chore. Musically the band is right up my alley. They mix up genres and rhythms and dynamics and everything is this nonstop series of beautiful surprises. But Thom Yorke is just always the same reed thin monotone drone. It works, and if I listen to the band one song at a time, it REALLY works, but an entire album of him sounding like air squealing out of a balloon is just too much for me. That being said, much love to anyone who's here for the band. Highlights for me were "2+2=5" and "Myxomatosis", the latter because it gave me something a little different from Yorke's normal whiny vocal and the music was just incredible.

I don't know that ALL the Radiohead albums need to be on the list, but this one (like the rest) is pretty solid. It gave me some weird Neil Young vibes for some reason. But, it also sounded much more like Coldplay or even Travis than some of their other work. Obviously, I'm not saying Radiohead copied these other bands - they were clearly the influence on them. However, they sound more like their contemporaries on this album than they did with other releases.

Expected more from Radiohead. Some good songs: Sail to the Moon Backdrifts There, There Scatterbrain but rather uninspiring stuff. Cool album cover though.

This is generously the 6th or 7th best Radiohead album. I was hoping I'd missed out and just overlooked this album. I remember not liking it much when it came out and have not revisited it since. There are a few tracks ("There, There" and "Myxomatosis") that point to the highlights of their other superior albums. But this is not the album to give someone to turn them onto Radiohead. This one is for the die-hards only. This is best forgotten like George W himself.

I've enjoyed previous Radiohead albums far more than this one.

It's ok... as with everything Radiohead I think this would get vastly different scores depending on the mood you were in going into listening. I think if I was out on a mindful walk listening to this it would get a much higher score. But I listened to it whilst at work, so the score is just meh.

Another band that I more or less hated in high school, although in this case it wasn't because I was overexposed or really felt strongly one way or the other about their songs but because I was a wiener about being a metalhead and hated almost anything that wasn't metal more or less by default. Given the popular opinion of Radiohead, especially their material of the late 90s and early 00s, I'm actually looking forward to listening to this. First track is great. I'm wondering why I was such a lil bitch about this band for so long. 2+2=5 makes me want to write music like it. Next few tracks are... there. This isn't bad. I don't hate it. But it sounds kind of like noodling sessions that got dressed up a bit. "Experimental" as they say when they are being generous. I'm up to There, There and haven't heard any other standout tracks but I will cede that the album has been extremely consistent thus far. The back half is more or less the same. Rounding out the symmetry, I love the final track. Overall, Radiohead is much better than I was ready to admit in high school. I would not be upset to listen to this album again but I'm not going to cue it up myself either.

The first half feels like the 2nd cousin once removed from Kid A (🙌). The second half got better with the more guitar based sound. This could easily be left off the 1001 list considering the other Radiohead albums that are already on it.

liked sail to the moon and wolf at the door the most

Last time I reviewed a Radiohead album, I said it made me want to listen to more of their music. This album has cured me of that affliction. I have had all the Radiohead I need in my life and more.

Doesn't really have standout tracks, overall it's enjoyable. But 2+2=5 is the only track that is a proper bop. Weaker album than most mainstream RH ones.

Not in my edition of the book! 2003. 3 stars. Perfectly acceptable, but not their best work by any means. Why is this on the list when there are already 4 other Radiohead albums on it, and even the band think this is one of their weaker efforts?

Not my favorite Radiohead album but still enjoyed it

Thought I would enjoy these guys, not so much. All such melancholy tracks! Go To Sleep was the best of them.

Felt quite conflicted listening to this record because I wanted to like it and at times I did and it had promise, but other times it was really depressing (which maybe is the point) and I didn’t really feel the need to ever listen to it again. But I’m also glad I did listen to it, so there’s that.

Kinda middle of the road for me. I appreciate the weird sounds merged with the music. Where the beat picks up, it's great but then we dive into just noisy keening by the singer which is hard to sit through. Hoping there's a better record of theirs here somewhere.

decent, not as I was expecting, but solid

Enjoyable vibes but more ambient than AHHH. Favourite track: Where I End and You Begin.

Steady.

Nothing stands out. As an album it works. Background music

Starts slow, ends langsam

This is my first real experience with Radiohead, other than having heard Creep and Karma Police around. This is generally fine, but I don't love it. Maybe I'll figure them out when I get to OK Computer. (That's got to be on this list, right? Also, this has to be one of the few artists where the name of an album comes to mind waaaay before the name of a song. I had to dig in my brain for Creep.)

Not bad, not something I’d want to listen to for an hour, lost its novelty for me after awhile, but worth it to get to the last song Wolf at the Door.

Not nearly as bad as I remember. I think the problem is that after OK Computer and Kid A, The only place to go was down. I think the more conceptual these albums got the less interested I was in them. It wasn’t until In Rainbows I happily got back on the bandwagon. I give this a 3.5 out of five.

Good, but not my favs of Radiohead.

Definitely not one of my favorite Radiohead albums. But it's always a pleasure to hear Thom Yorke's melancholy voice. I have a very serious problem with the post OK Computer albums released by Radiohead. Albums like this, Kid A, Amnesiac and others, never really appealed to me. But it definitely has its value.

Too long and far from their best work. Still good though.

This album just makes me feel kind of anxious but I dig it, industrial alt-prog? By end of the album felt a little Radiohead fatigue. Not the easiest listening but fascinating and jarring.

Most people's first Radiohead album is not this one but for me it is. I thought it was good but just didn't really do anything that crazy. I've never heard of this album before today and I get why. It uses synths a lot, which can be ok, but in this instance was annoying. I'm hoping the other Radiohead albums sound better than this one.

Not terrible but baffling inclusion compared to In Rainbows and A Moon Shaped Pool, definitely warranted removal.

was nice to have on in the background!

Very funky and unique rifts and drum sections. Haunting voice.

Shocked that we are 186 albums into this list and this is the first Radiohead album we’ve had so far. Like so many albums in the early/mid 2000’s, there’s lots of despair and grappling with the world post-9/11. I’m pretty sure Radiohead has better offerings than this though

I've somehow managed to totally avoid Radiohead. This is worth listening to, but just doesn't do anything for me - the singing is too strained, too many weird metaphors and descriptions in the lyrics, and I often find the music a bit repetitive. Some inspiring use of instruments and rhythms though. Glad I heard it; solidified my opinion as, "solid but not really for me".

Unmistakably Radiohead, yet I didn't know any of this album. It's very good, but it's all of a certain style. Think I'm a greatest hits Radiohead fan 3.5

Not the best Radiohead album, but still quite ok.

It was a decent album. Nothing amazing though.

Solid album, I know the Radiohead sound and some of their more famous songs but first time listening to a full album. Good one to listen to in winter or a rainy day. Fave song is There, There.

Playing catch up 6 months later - this one was okay. Nothing really stood out, good or bad.

A musical puzzle box. It may be a masterpiece, depending on who you ask. I'm completely on the fence

This isn't a Radiohead album I know so well, and it didn't do that much for me I have to say. I was a little distracted so perhaps need to dive a bit deeper.

Good but kind of boring.

3 or 4 albums later I still don't get Radiohead but their covers always slay not gonna lie

This one sounds like a film score. The ebb and flow, the moodiness... Given that Thom Yorke's lyrics were pulled from political discourse and combined with fairytales and children's literature, I see the intent throughout. I would love to hear the soundtrack for the upcoming election. Some phrases, such as "You have not been paying attention," could be lifted from this one and reused, again..."more rotten fruit".

Radiohead isn't even satisfied with this album, so it feels a bit of overkill to have Hail to the Thief in the book. This is not a bad album by any means, though I think if you have heard one album of Radiohead's post-Ok Computer work then you would get the picture. I agree with Radiohead this album could have been trimmed down a bit for maximum effectiveness. A lot of this album is Thom Yorke (yet again) moaning over weird rhythms and background music. There is a place for that, but I still feel like Radiohead sometimes does performative weird music. Just to see how odd they can be and how fans will say how brilliant it is. This is an album I have listened to in the past and I will probably end up listening to again in the future. Not sure I seek it out intentionally though.

First half is good

I'm not the *biggest* Radiohead fan but have come to appreciate them. There's songwriting talent, well-crafted arrangements, high production value...but this album was really kinda depressing.

Not bad, but as it's Radiohead, it's kinda boring to me. 3/5

Roulette for whether a song is laborious or pleasant to listen to.

I never really got into Radiohead. This one is not accessible or easy to grasp. No problem, as long as beauty can be found. Or meaning be revealed. I don’t like the voice, which is limited. The music and the production is very special. Dystopia is here in the music. When I was young I listened to somber music and lyrics of The Velvet Underground, Lou Reed, Nico. Now I don’t understand anymore why this appealed to me. And I listened to Meddle of Pink Floyd. Now I search for meaning, renewal, honesty and some positivity without the superficial of really commercial music.

I feels like I've gotten Radiohead's entire discography within my first 200 albums here, this is my 4th of theirs. I'd never heard Hail To The Thief before. It didn't have the same magic to it as The Bends or Kid A; I rank it more in line with Amnesiac.

I kind of struggled with Radiohead after OK Computer, never quite finding the same rewards on later albums which delved ever deeper into complex electronica combined with rock. Hail to the Thief finds easy targets for their ire in President Bush and the general commodification of everyday life and presents it in antagonistic, spiky style. As the album progressed, I found rewards in later tracks, but the overall misery makes it hard to love. Possibly rewards are to be found on repeat listens - submitting to the mood seems to be the right way to go.

Great album, I think often outshined by Kid A.

Radiohead depends on excellent songs to pull its sound out of the mire of mediocre playing. This group of songs is not a good group of Thom Yorke's tunes.

Heftig maar wel cool. Early edm en depri vibes

I really like Radiohead but this isn't one of my favourites.

Enjoyed the listen. So much in this album. Great percussions and also dreamlike vocals. It has it all.

Maybe it's the rainy weather today, but this Radiohead album did not annoy me as much as the 28 other Radiohead albums on here.

Better than In Rainbows, this is still nothing to write home about. The first really interesting song was the ninth.

It’s okay. Better than In Rainbows.

I wish I liked Radiohead more. I like the angsty sound but I can't always tell what the songs are about with all the mumbling.

I think I'd like Radiohead up to 20% more if Thom would try to sing better more often. I just don't like his singing style, which makes me not even think about attempting to pay attention to his lyrics.

Radiohead halt

Some songs were good

Not the best radiohead i've heard but some of it sounds kinda like one of my old favourite bands, everything everything, so that's cool. Bit too same-y and a little bit long for me.

Bliver lige bittert nok, men godt hvis man er i humøret til det

It's an interesting album. There There is a commercially successful song, somber. The Gloaming just took too long to go anywhere. One of the more difficult songs to listen to.

I like the back end of this album far better than the first bit. Also not my fav RH

Not my favorite Radiohead album

Radiohead was absolutely at a high point when this came out, this follows The Bends, OK Computer, and Kid A (plus Amnesiac), and In Rainbows is right after it. That's quite the run, so it's not a shock that there's one (slight) dud in there. This album isn't bad at all, and "dud" is definitely in context (I'm sure a lot of other bands would've killed for one album this good). There just isn't a ton that really captures me on this. "2+2=5" is a great start, and "There There" is awesome in the middle, but beyond that it's a lot of decent songs to me but not much I find myself coming back to (and I'm writing this almost a month after first listening to this and now having listened to it a couple of times). It's got mostly an electronic-rock sound, the lyrics are a bit protest-y (Thom Yorke was pissed about Dubya getting elected), but overall just a bit too long and meandering to me. I think they could've cut a few songs on this and made it better. Not bad at all, but I'm looking forward to what's to come with Radiohead. Favorite song: There There Other: 2 + 2 = 5, Sail To The Moon, Go To Sleep, Where I End and You Begin, We Suck Young Blood, I Will, A Punch Up at a Wedding, A Wolf at the Door 5/13/24

It's another Radiohead album, and I'm more or less out of things to say. I have always liked There There quite a bit, I very much like the chord it's anchored around, nice melody. The band goes for some different smooth sounding thing on tracks like Sail to the Moon, and as a teen I thought this was very cool but now it doesn't do much for me.

There’s at least one too many Radiohead albums one must hear before they die.

Rock alternativo. Se me ha hecho un poco pesado. Ni fu ni fa.

Never listened to this, fine but not sure if I'm bothered about it

the raindrops (x47)

Difficult to judge as "Hail To the Thief" is less cohesive than "OK Computer" and "Kid A" and there is nothing particularly noteworthy about it. Although it was a fairly simple listen, the album drones on and on. Best songs are "2 + 2 = 5", "Sail To The Moon" and "Where I End And You Begin."

I love Radiohead, but this is mid-tier for me.

Schönes Album, aber OK Computer fand ich beeindruckender, auch wenn bei Hail To the Thief die Texte politischer sind.

Inga låtar som sticker ut direkt. Ett solitt album.

My enjoyment of this album was much more academic than emotional. I found the dissonance and eclecticism really intriguing, but also didn't feel inspired to want to come back to this. Does make me think about listening to this album in the context of Radiohead's artistic progression over time.

This is one of those albums that feels like it would be more rewarding upon a re-listen, but my first impressions of it are kind of "eh" despite being a substantial Radiohead fan.

- not for casual listening - way different than other Radiohead - not something I would throw on for fun, but definitely for a specific vibe - favorite song is 2 + 2 = 5

Not my cup of tea

This feels like Radiohead Light. It is distinctly them but there's no song I can really point to (or album vibe as a whole) that stands out. Unlike just about everything else they've released.

I believe myself to be a Radiohead enjoyer, but this album at time was not it for me. Still a solid amount of additions to my library.

No está mal

I appreciate the variety, although none of songs stood out that much. This could've been better but I'm really not fond of Thom's whining

Interesting album. Some songs are an absolute chore to listen to, but there were a decent half of the record where I got it. Definitely interesting sounds, mixes, and production.

I throw on Radiohead every once in a while because it’s a band I enjoy, but, to be completely honest, this is not an album that I usually put on

Echt alternativ. Man muss sich schon darauf einlassen.

I've never been a huge fan of Radiohead and their later albums after OK Computer. This album was okay and I just can't see myself listening to this one again

Interesting

This is my least favorite Radiohead album in the book so far. Granted, it's still Radiohead, so it's still good. But this album is peak "Variations Under Thom Yorke Moaning" that grows old rather quickly. Favorite track: Myxomatosis.

Hey that’s not bad! Hey that’s also not good!

easy listen. very relaxing and chill with a powerful message. ambient and rock vibes.

Feels like a collection of b-sides more than a complete album, but it's pretty fun.

I've never been the biggest fan of Radiohead and this album sort of skirts the boundary between getting it and hating it. The instrumentals are all pretty top notch, but I'm just not a fan of the whiny singing that pervades most of this album.

I don't hate Radiohead but find them way too lauded for the at times mediocre music they deliver. I do think occasionally the release some amazing some amazing songs which make me rethink my ambivalence towards them. This album isn't one of those times. I didn't find it very engaging and the one song thought was ok used a template stolen from a Beta Band track.

Voor mij begint dit toch wel classic Radiohead te worden: niet slecht, maar best wel saai, en geen fijne stem.

Pleasant listen, but didn't compare well vs Ok Computer

I want to put this at a 3.5. I went between really digging a song to not paying attention at all, and back again.

I love Radiohead

I swear I've heard a lot of Radiohead that I enjoy before, but this didn't quite do it for me. The vocals are whinier than ever here. What I will say about Radiohead that does extend to this album, though, is that it definitely doesn't have a generic pop or rock music feel. Lots of songwriting decisions set them apart from what is standard, so even this collection -- which I didn't love -- is at least an interesting listen.

Inget supersexigt tror jag

2+2=5 is like a bad system of a down song which means its ok.
