Reviews (page 7 of 7)

Irritating. I don’t know who enjoys this.

Annoying as hell

Goth nerds love this shit but it's mostly annoying. Amelia slaps though.

não entendi o álbum na moral. não é um tipo de música familiar, não me pegou hora nenhuma, a mixagem parecia ruim ou não funcionar

This was weird; if I had to describe it, all I could say is that it felt like Kate Bush had tried to record a sci-fi album underwater. If I found this treasure, I would probably put it back.

Some good ideas but trying to be moody without the weight to back it up. Couldn't understand a word for pretty much the whole thing. 2.5

I was put off by the 80s drum machine and the massive amounts of reverb on everything. Shame cos the songs actually sounded ok.

Bored, again with the chorus pedal and whispery pixie singing?

In a nutshell: and you thought The Cure was goth… Treasure is a blueprint album. I bet many artists who align with shoegaze, dream-pop and ethereal wave would draw inspiration from Cocteau Twins (artists from the 4AD label, Jesus and Mary Chain, Aldous Harding, The xx, etc). It feels like Kate Bush meets Siouxsie and The Banshees but in a medieval/baroque style. They’re songs that you’d hear in an 80’s indie movie (Allison from The Breakfast Club would play this album on repeat for sure). It’s not my thing, but I get why it’s important. Overall: 3/10

I was waiting for it to be over. 2.4.

Was looking forward to it but was too much of the same for one lidten

Knew the band name, had no idea what to expect, except I thought they had male vocalists. Got 80s ethereal female vocals with a influence from something I can't quite point to any more because the kids are listening to a song about a rhino having to poo.

I didn't like this at all. Too electronic and loud and abrasive.

Not really my thing.

I can appreciate that they're doing something original here, but it just doesn't work for me. 2.1

pandora (for cindy) amelia

I really don't get this one - all the songs sound the same and couldn't find anything enjoyable about any one of them. It's fine, but really not my thing. Also, they should've refrained from calling this album "Treasure" because it's anything but. 3/10.

Too “shoegaze” for my liking

Not my style at all. Just left it on in the background while working and forgot it was there

Very ethereal and almost trance like. I dont see myself listening to it again, but it would make for some interesting background music. Listen again: no Purchase for my collection: no Favourite Song:

I’ve always felt a bit of a mismatch between the intricate goth-baroque melodies that define Cocteau Twins and Elizabeth Fraser’s ethereal voice. Still, nice to know that bands like this could gain commercial cudos once upon a time…hang on. Do I mean the Thompson Twins? And how do This Mortal Coil fit in the puzzle?

Weird and floaty and annoying and boring.

This was…an album. I really didn’t get it. Not sorry. The echo on these vocals, good lord. I honestly wasn’t sure if it was in English because I could hardly understand what they were saying. The songs were repetitive and overly long. They rarely went anywhere. This was probably really forward thinking for its time, and in some ways is probably still ahead of its time. But I did not enjoy this very much, honestly. I was bored, and I hate that any music can make me feel bored so I do actually feel a little bad. But this has to be 2 stars. I have zero desire to listen to this again. Standout track: Lorelei

I didn’t hate hate this. But it was just noise mostly.

this was on and it just does not register. not bad but not something that pulls me into it. could i write poetry to this? n

Just can’t get into Cocteau Twins

I liked this enough while listening to it, but later realized I didn't remember a thing about it

It's 4AM. You're drunk. All your friends went home. You stare into the nearly extinguished bonfire. You should have gone to bed hours ago. Your every thought seems brilliant, yet fleeting. This music makes sense in this moment.

I think I just don't understand

Very synth-y pop from the 80s.

Nice enough. I can certainly understand the appeal but not really my mood today.

Bad just bad

Not for me 4/10

Lets hum and shit for an hour 4/10

Two women yelling jibberish over each other with some of the most generic 80s background music. T 3/10 K 2/10

ambienty type of music. Ivo was good

I can see how it's highly influential. I just find it a bit wishy washy.

Another in the long line of Enya? Obviously not my cup of tea.

This reminded me of Kate Bush in a good way, but it didn't capture my attention past the second or third track

Not my favorite....did like her voice some. Fav Persephone.

Personally I like a little more meat with my potatoes. Might work for a stretch session or meditation.

Nr. 132/1001 Ivo 3/5 Lorelei 3/5 Beatrix 3/5 Persephone 2/5 Pandora 3/5 Amelia 2/5 Aloysius 2/5 Cicely 2/5 Otterley 2/5 Donimo 2/5 Average: 2,4 Really unique with it's unconventional songwriting and lyrics. Nothing on here I hated, but also nothing I really liked.

This is the second Cocteau Twins album I have had. It reminds of Kate Bush a little, whose music I don’t really like but prefer to this. The high singing doesn’t appeal to me. Listens: 2 Fave Track: None

Ouch..my ears hurt. I tried to listen to at least one song but could not endure it! The songs would be great for an ethereal soundtrack. Kudos for people trying to make music that is very unique.

Okay was not expecting to warm up to this one. Definitely a slow burn, anyone else picking up Diablo catacomb vibes from this album ?? This maybe played a part in the game soundtrack, it’s eerily similar… who knows? The spooky and echoey voices in the later tracks make for a creepy ambience that are chilling ! Would I listen to this all the time ? No, I’m not of the occult. I liked it while folding laundry 🧺

“Lorelei” has a fun dreamy vibe, but it’s a bit off, which I think is on purpose…? It would be a good fit for a scene with Ryan Gosling acting like he has a subtle yet large potential for spontaneous violence (think “Driver”) 👨 🚗 🔪 “Pandora” is Enya on mushrooms 🍄 😜

Irrrreeeeelanddddd? Scotland? Lady birdy sounds, a little witchiness Cranberries? heavy SYNTH and jewel toned sounds Hang on, this is only 1 vocalist? layers, layers, layers "Lorelei" sounds familiar, although I swear I can't understand a single lyric. This is the soundtrack to emerging out of a coma, desperately trying to make sense of the words with a limited understanding of how language works.

not much of a fan

The vocals remind me a bit of Kate Bush, but a little too ethereal. Maybe I need to listen to this on headphones. I feel like it's too... thin. It could be the production style from the 80s, too. It just seems like there needs to be a bit more bass to it, like in a song like "Domino," it needs a big bass sound to it, and it's lacking. Many of the songs felt like they blended together. I couldn't really give you one that stood out over the others, which is never good. The vocals from one song sounded like it could easily go to another song. Really, it just didn't hold my interest. Next.

I recognize the band name and the parts of the song Lorelei, but nothing else. They must've came up randomly after I was listening to other 80's acts. Elizabeth Fraser sounds a bit like Kate Bush, only stranger. I never thought I would say that. I also hear some Siouxsie, which Fraser may have been going for given her adoration. I just don't know about this album, or group. Pioneers, but leading to two genres I don't really like - dream pop and shoegaze. So kudos, I guess? Sure, put wispy sounds together with fairy-like singing and it can work. But not always, and there were definitely times where I felt the music and vocals didn't fit right. I know their 1990 album is coming on the 1,001 list so maybe that one will impress me more. I just couldn't get into this.

The song titles read like my child’s class register….ethereal but a bit samey.

This is too twee for me. I am sure that the drum machine sounded great in 1984, but it sounds pretty tame now. I love the idea of this band, from growing up listening to John Peel and hearing them so much, but the tracks here lack any oomph, or spine. Sugar Hiccup is a lovely tune, but there is none of that here - it's an amorphous blur. It's probably meant to drift by without much ado, but it all merged into one after a while. The mannered titles didn't help.

This was over before I realised it. It was there in the background whilst I was tap, tap, tapping away on other projects. It didn't leave much of an impression or distraction. Not offensive, but not something that grabbed me by the balls and demanded that I give it my full attention.

I was pretty happy when that ended

Vind haar toch leuker en interessanter bij Massive Attack.

Pop. Ambiente. Aburrido.

i've not got much insight or humour left. VAR has ground me down.

Fucking VAR, man

Dunno what this is. Atmospheric?

2/5 not to my liking

I don't remember much of this album, so it can't be that good.

I just genuinely don’t understand this music. Ethereal 80s pop? I don’t really understand the appeal or the lyrics or what’s happening. Are they singing in a different language? Or is it some made up fairy language? I can appreciate the musicality, but at the end of the day this just isn’t for me. Blessedly the album is fairly short which keeps it from being a 1.

Doesn’t blow my mind, doesn’t hurt my brain either. Whatevs

Som bem fraquinho, vocais meio ritualísticos, bem difícil ouvir até o fim

This band doesn't do it for me, this is the second record of theirs to come up on this list, which seems like at least one too many, probably two too many though.

There was absolutely no need to hear this before I die

A heck of a lot more interesting than Heaven or Las Vegas. A bit less up itself, if that makes sense. Still a bit daft for me, but Persephone was decent.

Pretty atmospheric and moody. Didn't mind it, but doubt I'll be back

not memorable

Didn't really enjoy it but not a bad thing I suppose

Not good

It was fine, I just immediately forgot it. Probably should have paid more attention.

I actually like a lot of shoegaze stuff but I couldn't really do this. The non-lyrics had the opposite effect, constantly bringing my attention to it rather than letting me get lost in the music. Might have been the prototype which launched a decent genre, but knowing what came since makes this sound very disappointing on reflection

No, no I don't think so. This is so bland and boring that it borders on frustrating. But it never quite makes it to frustrating. Which is a shame because then I'd have at least felt SOMETHING for these songs. What a useless waste of time.

Sounds like burning hair

A lot of soulful moaning and oohs and lalalas without any choruses

This is the most 80's records I've ever heard. Was it recorded in a cave? The reverb just drips off every instrument. All the songs sound the same too.

I appreciated that this was a change from male-led rock, and I liked the simultaneously old school and otherworldly track names. However, the music itself wasn't my thing. It sounded like one long song.

Listened Before? N I remember these two from the 80s. It's very mellow and echoey. I do like the concept of the albums songs being a bunch of different girl names but otherwise unremarkable. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Lorelei

I don't get their importance, even if I don't consider it an awful album. I enjoy the non-English insertions on some songs and the album's general mood, but it is still too much repetitive. 2 starts for me

Not my thing

This was unmemorable for me. I think it was gentle enough to be able to listen to its entirety, however too snoozy.

Starts off on with a nice dreamy, ethereal feel but something is lost along the way here.... This is the second Cocteau Twins album we've had and while the mood if not the sound is similar, I'm not connecting nearly as much with this one. The other/later one (1990's "Heaven Or Las Vegas") has a much better sound to it - almost like this one is a demo that needs a remix, especially with the drums/percussion - too often it sounds like a bad driver backing into the garage. Distracting at best. I'm ok with this being mood/background music but much prefer their later material. 4/10 2 stars.

Not a fan. Weird

It was strange. Not bad but not great

Dreamy, a bit dull, hate the drum sound.

Not my usual listening. Interesting and reminiscent of the opening sequence of a scandi noir programme but not very keen on an entire album

breathy singing is not for me

Listening to this, I'm thinking to myself "This is music for sex isn't it? They've gone out to create sex music. And they're twins. Ew." Turns out that thankfully they're not twins at all so the sex bit is less uncomfortable. This album is quite a lot like sex in that I don't get it. Other people, who do get it, seem to love it.

I don’t know who this is for, but it’s not for me

Fattar inte grejen. Trist.

I feel like me listening to this album triggered aomwthing in the world. Like I opened aome door to satan. At least I feel like a witch now. God this music is just way 2 nerdy even for me. I think it’s well made, but god damn it ain’t my jam. Now leave me with my tarot cards alone! 2/5

Some good songs, and the singer singing gibberish is different and fun, but didn't quite make an impression.

Unique. Interesting sounds. Not sure about it yet. Will need more time, but I am favorable in my opinion. 2.5

Pas pour moi

Based on the song titles this is some vaguely mythological concept album but honestly the only things I’ll remember from this are that it’s much heavier than cherry colored funk and that the cover reminds me of that slipknot album

Hmmmm - not very good, is it? Pretty but pointless

pretty decent background noise but nothing to write home about. 2.

Its OK. I dont know if I would say that everyone should hear it though. 2/5

Too much 80s for me thanks, terrible mix didn't help

Eniten tästä jäi varmaan mieleen kaunis lauluääni ja rauhoittava tunnelma, mutta ei oikein muuta. Suosikit: Ivo, Pandora (for Cindy)

Okay album. I liked the strange Greco-Roman theme to the album, but at the same time they sounded like they were speaking latin through the whole thing. They have better music than Treasure and I'm not sure if I'd listen to any of these songs again. Best Songs: Beatrix, Pandora, Aloysius Worst Songs: Otterley

It was good for background music

-S Tier- ***n/a*** -A Tier- ***n/a*** -B Tier- Ivo Pandora -C Tier- Beatrix -D Tier- Lorelei Persephone AVG SCORE: DNF - - - At its best, it’s mood music. At its worst…well, there’s a reason I gave up on the entire album in the middle of track 6. What frustrates me is that I caught hints of greatness, but they were [often quickly] obscured by overproduction or overpowered by abrasive vocals. I know Wheeler has earned a lot of praise for her voice, but from time to time it felt like an homage to Yoko Ono — it totally ruined Persephone for me. This is the first album of the challenge that I “don’t get.”

A smooth soothing, dreamy quality to the music, that had it's moments, but mainly unspectacular and unmemorable. Not hard to listen to, so I guess that's a positive, but I can't say I would purposely listen to this again. Reminds me of why I avoided a chunk of the 80's, synth pop with drum machines, no thanks!

Lacks the mystery that made Heaven or Las Vegas so good. Best track: Donimo

Not a fan of shoegaze. The drum machine was annoying but the vocals were nice. The songs were mostly bland ear wash.

Not my favorite, and I think it shows the tendency of this list to focus on the UK too much.

23rd June 2022 Finished on the 24th, still in bed. Circumstances are everything when doing this and being bed bound with an intense fever means this was not up there for me. Approach to vocals interesting though

I want to like this, but too ethereal.

Not my bag. Struggled to get into this

Eh, few okay tracks…kinda forgettable background music

Enya mixed with Metric and produced in the 80s

J,aime pas vraiment ca, c'Est trop cristallin et le style ne me rejoint vraiment pas. Je n'aime pas ce genre de musique et franchement je ne me vois pas écouter cela.

Dreampop, indie, gotisk, alternativt

-Well it certainly was ethereal -Idk if I'm just not being super nice to this album but nothing friggin' happened

Not horrible, but not for me.

Doesn't really do it for me.

Not as definitive or memorable as their other works, mainly lacking in verve due to a noticeably less prominent rhythm section.

something strange

This is one of the least memorable albums I've ever heard. I won't remember one song from this more than ten minutes after the album ends.

The vocals were too weird for my linking. The music was great though.

Interesting, but not quite my thing.

This is a group that my wife, who has very questionable taste in music, might enjoy. Me, not so much

I have never heard of this band before and it wasn't necessary. I am not sure they are even saying words in their songs.

i like "persephone" & "pandora". i understand why people would like this album but nothing about is really grabbing me. 2.5

With the caveat that I’ll have to re-visit this and re-evaluate in the future. HoLV didn’t really hit for me the first time either

Can't think of a time when I'd want to listen to this. Even the good parts I liked in the songs (to be fair most songs had a part I liked or didn't mind) they would only last for 10 seconds or so and then the song would take another turn into something not as good.

Songs too "slow"

Not sure what to say about this one. Not my thing.

Music when the lights go out... Drömmig drömpop. Liz Frazer spännande sångerska, melodiösa ordljud, men good fucking luck med att lista ut vad som egentligen sjungs. Siouxsie and the Banshees-känsla. Bästa låt: Persephone

Dreamy Goth Pop

I have heard the name, but wouldn't have guessed that I would not recognize their most popular songs. I half-listened to a lot of pop-radio in the 80s (we couldn't just ask Alexa to play something different when our parents were listening to something!), but none of the Cocteau Twins' stuff sounds even remotely familiar. And probably because its quite unspectacular and wasn't that popular when it came out. But they have two albums on this list! So, some additional notes after listening to the full album. It is not radio-friendly pop, and that's likely why I never heard it. It's... "dream pop?" And yes, it has a lot of dream-like, ethereal elements. A lot of fluttering soprano and meandering tracks that feel a lot longer than their actual run-time. Not my jam, but more interesting than I expected.

I find it hard to believe that I know who this band is. So not my bag. It's like listening to Bjork. The music is well written but I can't stand listening to what amounts to someone putting a peacock in a rear naked choke.

War wieder nix für mich Hats nebenbei laufen, vlt deswegen manches versäumt

Nope. Kann nicht wirklich sagen was, aber einfach gar nicht meins.

Musical wallpaper

Whilst I did love the big atmospheric reverberating rock sound and the beautiful choruses sung by these big female voices...there was no real substance in my opinion. It made me feel really disappointed as all the songs held so much promise. Oh well...2 Stars!

The wailing turned me off.

still better than punk

There were some good parts to this album. I particularly liked Amelia, and some part of Lorelei. But on the whole I felt like this album tried too hard to hit a particular style. The combination of overly dreamy music and forward vocals, paired with harmonic background vocals, and (in my opinion) overly strong drums made for a not so pleasant listen.

Reading about the album helped me appreciate it more. Not sure how often I would come to it.

nice, nothing special

Musik ganz geil. Aber diese Stimme, heieieiei.

Wie Helium atmen. Klingt komisch, bleibt nicht lang im Kopp & hat keine weitreichenden Folgen. Extra points for „Pandora“ and helping 4AD getting on the map. 2,2

I thought some songs were okay, the rest were quite boring.

Not really my thing

dream pop

Fav Song: Lorelei

I could never get into the vocals. The music is cool.

Didn't know Dream Pop was a thing before this! I wanted to like the weird psychedelic vocals and stuff but it ends up just being annoying noise for the most part. Lorelei was cool though.

Aika outoa settiä

Nah, not again. Why is there 2 of their albums in this list?

3/10 No le preste atencion, no se si es malo justamente por eso pero no me gusto, no me atrapó en ningún momento

Not mine

Treasure but Cocteau twins was nothing special, it kind of reminds me of enya but less encapsulating. Cicely is ok, but they all sound mostly the same and nothing particularly stands out. (2 songs in) I'm not going to lie, I did check multiple times to see when the end of the album was near. I forgot that I put it on shuffle so I was disappointed each time. (5 songs in) Nearing the end I felt pure relief, my opinion on Cocteau twins have plummeted as the album continues. I was feeling pretty tolerable at the start however my patients has worn thin as I crave the end. (9 songs in) Finally finished 1/5 would not listen again

i can agree that it's soothing but isn't it bit overdone? overdone for 41 mins and 35 secs to be exact. the ''soothing'' harmonies are pretty similar every song. i guess they were trying to create alliteration in their lyrics but r2d2 forms more understandable sentences. Pra-da-da-dee, Peep hole. haha this isn't r2, it's an actual verse from this album haha :/ anyways, i didn't hate it but i'm not sure it's an album i ''must hear'' before i die. i would have given it 1.5/5 but since you can't do halves here, i'm gonna round it down to 1. 2 would be too much.

That was hard work. Will not listen again.

This entire album was way too breathy and had falsetto coming out of every orafice. I couldn’t understand a single word that was sung. I’m pretty sure Spotify didn’t provide the lyrics because AI can’t figure out wtf she’s saying either!! While the music behind the vocals was somewhat nice, this album did absolutely nothing for me. Hard pass.

Were they singing words or just making sounds? Sounds like they might be saying something, a cry for help perhaps?

Charlie Browns teacher over synth pop

not for me

Not my cuppa tea

🤮 No fucking way!!!

Enjoyed some of the songs for the ethereal qualities. Vocals, as well as some of the arrangements made it difficult to listen.

The production was great on this album don't get me wrong. But this album is such a bore. You yawn through this album wishing you were listening to anything else.

Nicht meins.

Not the Treasure I was hoping for. I tried really hard to like it, and maybe I need to be in the right space and feels, but definitely didn’t need this in my life

Definitely wasn't English. I really don't like when I can't hear what they are saying. The ethereal thing is fun for a few songs but quickly looses me.

Not my cup of tea

Too slow and basic for me

no 4 me

Besynnerlig new age-indie.

Men det går snabbt över i något slag new age - Enya- gregoriansk kloster-sörja.

Moody, atmospheric, excruciatingly dull.

Insipid, dull, repetitive, encouraging suicide - Paul (guy I work with)

One cocteau twins album is enough for this list. This one was not all that pleasant to me.

At least this was 25 minutes shorter than the Nick Cave album yesterday.

Good overall album

1.Ivo - 1 2. Lorelai - 1.5 3. Beatrix - 1 4. Persephone - 1.5 5. Pandora -1.5 6. Amelia -1 7. Aloysius - 1.5 8. Cicely - 1.5 9. Utterly -1.5 10. Donimo - 1

Too many vowels in this.

It's always a good sign if I say "oh god" after a few secons into the album. why is she always screeching as if she's frightened by a spider

Boring music. All songs sound alike. Annoying voice.

Treasure = Trash

Not my cup of tea

I don’t think I’m in the right state of mind to listen to this one. I didn’t vibe with it at all, but I can see why the whimsical voice would be welcome to others. Not one that I’m personally going to revisit though.

I found this practically unlistenable to be honest.

Meh, not very good, IMHO.

The ambient/dream pop just doesn’t work

Vaaaaaaaag

definitely not my style

Weird whisper singing

There are times where I would thank 1001 albums because I never would have found an album on my own. This is not one of them. Really annoying and boring. I kinda liked Pandora but not exciting to listen to.

Modern opera?

Garbage wish I could give 0 if I could. Not a treasure

Wow it aged so bad

Absolutely unbearable.

No likey.

Just no

Sometimes a bit cringe but otherwise great

Real whiny sounding, just high and shrill - not my favorite.

I don’t want to know what kind of person willfully turns this shit on to listen to.

I don’t get it. I don’t like it.

Boring

Yeah this was some weird stuff

This was incredibly boring.

What the hell is this crap anyway

Droning

Not by cup of tea

Bad lol.

This album sounds like someone locked a banshee in a cathedral and recorded her trying to remember the lyrics to a song she heard once in a dream. It’s like they handed a reverb pedal a record deal and said, “Go nuts.” I don’t know what language the singer is using—maybe Elvish? Maybe baby talk? Either way, it’s not working. Every track blends together into a swirl of unintelligible wailing and echo-soaked guitar noodles. It's the musical equivalent of trying to read a foggy mirror. I know some folks call this “ethereal.” I call it “unlistenable.” Just awful. No other way to describe it.

Bjork’ish.

i do not like this

Not quite

It was fine I suppose, but I do not enjoy that kind of music.

The whispy singing gives me the feeling of breathlessness. Can't stand it.

esti que c'est plate

Not really my jam, that was all pretty terrible.

Pretty good if you want a woman yelling nonsense in your ear for 41 minutes.

Furchtbare Aneinanderreihung von Tönen. Schreckliche Stimme. Das Gequietsche nervt.

I guess the saying "one mans trash is another mans treasure" works both ways.

Not for me.

I didn’t really like this at all. Way too dreamy. Seems like a stream of conscience with no real focus. The vocals are nearly impossible to hear they are buried so far in the mix.

I have to quit reading the Spotify profiles and Wikipedia entries for these albums before I've listened all the way through because I am not able to separate my evaluations from what is written. The lyrics are literally nonsense words. This album apparently influenced later "shoegaze" music which is a genre I just now learned existed and am also pretty sure I will not be a fan of. A girl making up silly wordless songs over "dreampop" (another genre I just learned about) is not an alum you need to listen to before you die. I just put the shoegaze genre and the title of the Alabama Shakes song together. This is worse that ambient noise music because this woman "wrote" these lyrics knowing they are just sounds. She should have just gone to Japan and read off the strange English you find on some t-shirts there. The lyrics are dumb, the music is terrible, there is nothing redeeming about this album. This could be the music from a Final Fantasy game and I wouldn't know the difference.

This just wasn't for me.

I had no memory of listening to this, which should tell you all you need to know.

Diablo II town music ass album

Not for me - did not finish. Not sure why it’s on the list.

I dislike this type of music. Not my thing I find it boring. Dont like Kate Bush either. They should leave these groups forgotten.

Not for me

Just straight up boring and uninspired, if I wanted to listen to something like this I'd listen to Sisters of Mercy who have much better production values and far more interesting songs.

Couldn't wait for it to end.

From members of the band: Raymonde alluded to Treasure being rushed and unfinished, while Guthrie referred to it as "an abortion", "our worst album by a mile". (I wholly agree) If you look at the lyrics they all have the same thread. Choose a letter of the alphabet, come up with as many words that start with or contain that letter. Then play the same tired music while softly saying those words over and over again. Add a splash of reverb with some vocalizing to give it an "ethereal" touch. Vapid and self-aggrandizing. The whole collection of the human race's musical achievements would not be lacking anything if this album was never created or recorded.

That album font was an indicator

Mmm top 1000?

not my style

They startled my partner

Very creepy

Not good.

Oh that voice…. I’d rather have root canal without analgesics than listen to that again. 1star

80s Cranberries with the 80s turned to the max, and nothing that held up

Eh should stay in the 80s.

This sounded exactly the same as the previous Cocteau Twins album so I'm just going to copy/paste that review: The album has a very psychedelic and dream like sound which I was not a fan of. I really struggled to get through all of the tracks. I'm sure it was intentional but I hated the production/mixing because at times it felt like they were singing in another language.

I had a difficult time enjoying this album as it just felt like poppy background music to a positive movie. Dream pop is an interesting genre to me and I’ve had a hard time enjoying it. This album isn’t much different. 3.0/10

I don't think I'm cool enough to get it.

Album 15 of 1001 Cocteau Twins - Treasure Favorite Track : Pass Rating : 1 / 5 All songs sounded the same. Not my thing. Kind of a mess, in my opinion. The "related" music that Spotify offered after it finished was interesting.

Eh, not my vibe at all. Soft rock with echoes of Enya. Pass

Oh man. After Leonard Cohen I was hoping for a nice rock or metal album. Hell I could have gone something pop or even jazz or swing. Instead we get this... Oh man. I needed to check if my ears were bleeding multiple times.

I didn't realize that Treasure was a synonym for steaming pile of 80's dogshit.

No no no no please no

Pffffffffffff

Fasansfullt. Är det bara denna plattan eller var det lika illa hela vägen?

Not bad or terrible. Just very strange. Not my cup of tea. Not even sure if it was foreign or not. Just very strange.

Horrible, I couldn't even listen to half of the album

Ooo-ooo-ooo, ahh-ahh-ahh, sigh-sigh-sigh.

Boring

Crap. Absolute crap.

Trash.

Really not my favorite just didn't stick with me or made an impression

Generic 80's sound.

As hard as I tried, I couldn't get into this album.

I was a bit underwhelmed, it sounds like it may have been fresh for the time but now it sounds badly produced and there is so much better ethereal stuff out there now

This was not something I would listen to again.

very strange trance-like featuring airy/moany vocals that are unable to be interpreted with a very old school production sound. Not for me

Remember that time you were huffing nitrous while being chased through the house of mirrors by those clowns playing the bagpipes and you couldn't find a way out? THIS IS THAT ALBUM!!! I bought my first and only CT album in 1993 because of Jeremy Klein's part in "Ravers." I liked that Iceblink Luck song, yet it wore on me after only a few plays and I never listened to it again. But that was 30 years ago ... on a different album, and we've all changed ...so why not start fresh, eh? No such luck, and if I changed, it's only to be less forgiving. Yes, this album is terribly-unique in that it's uniquely terrible. I had a visceral reaction to Treasure and though technically, it is music, I hated everything about it. The bajillion fasletto voice overlays, high-pitched keyboard overlays and more overlays of echo-y feedback overlays gave me the sickly-anxieties so bad that were tough to shake even after it ended. Somehow, I managed to find my way though without barfing and lose the clowns in the process. So, that's one good thing about this one. Truth be told, I'd rather be in this room, with these two guys just before being murdered than giving Treasure another listen. (https://youtu.be/7E_U1xyK7Gw?t=91).

Not really my jam. Plus, it all sounded the same to me.

A Scottish electronic pop act…I must love this…right? No…no I do not. I most certainly could have died without hearing this album. There are a lot of seemingly random elements to this album somewhat like a Salvador Dalí painting. However unlike a Dalí, there is no overarching theme to the elements, no thematic beauty. Just random shit…like I swear there was yodeling in Amelia…WTF. According to Internet, these guys started the modern dream pop genre. They deserve credit for doing so because Internet also tells me these other bands are dream pop too: Au Revoir Simone, Chromatics, and Troye Sivan. They all kick some major, major, MAJOR fucking ass. So kudos to Cocteau Twins for pioneering this genre. This album is still shit though.

No meme high ca le fait las
