I heard “Inaugural Trams” a while ago and always meant to listen to more from this band. I feel like on paper I should’ve really liked this record, but every good moment came along with 2 or 3 moments I didn’t care for, and in the end I just didn’t enjoy it. 13 years of distance between this record and “Trams,” I suppose I should give their later stuff more of a chance.
In coincidence news that will interest no one, was singing demons off their second album as I was refreshing this page for todays album, imagining to myself if I got that album. You should listen to that album next if you even vaguely like this. This debut album isn't as good, but is still worthy of your time - varied, fun, a bit psychedelic at times, catchy, and doesn't take itself seriously. It has a few weak songs on it but overall it's a breath of fresh air even now. I was amazed to see people on here calling it the worst of British music at the time, it's so much more inventive and fun than most of it. Give me this over oasis and the verve every day of the week! Not sure I can trust anyone who can't enjoy this. I think of this as a post modern album, taking elements of psychedelia, British prog, rock and pop, and deconstructing them. It's also playful and whimsical and endearingly naive, from some young welsh men exploring their influences. It's earnest in its own way; these guys don't have a lot of affectation and their attitude is refreshing. They really hadn't come close to their true powers of songwriting on this album so I was surprised it's on here; I hope radiator and rings around the world is too but I'd be surprised if they had 3 on this list [mwng is also excellent and guerilla very good, even spaced out the b sides is very enjoyable]. That said, I think this album is great and I'm glad this sort of stuff didn't get overlooked on this list in favour of only the very "insisting upon itself" stuff of this era like oasis, verve, blur... Enjoy all the little details in this one, and relax, dont take it too seriously. SFA were a big part of my teen years and one of the first bands I saw live. Tempted to give this 5 stars as a biased retort to all the unfair one star reviews on here, but 8/10 is fairer

This was fine. Not as fun as I would've hoped given all the words on the cover, but fine.
Bits of Teenage Fanclub, World of Twist and even a daub of Edgar Broughton Band here and there. I tend to think the rockier numbers are the best - 'Bad Behaviour' rips, and 'Hangin' with Howard Marks' shines - plus the rather grizzled vocals are a nice feature in the mix. Not bad at all. Didn't entirely hold my attention, and the arrangements sometimes verged on the twee side of things, but altogether quite listenable.
This feels like the modern version of The Monkees, minus the hits. Songs and vocals didn't do it for me, but at least there were real instruments?
I found this one a little grating. The vocals were linear as well. Sad, as the title had me hopeful.
I loved Something 4 the Weekend when it came out but I didn't give SFA albums much of a listen. This is great, poppy and slightly kooky, with shades of early Blur.
Kinda cool, and probably a breath of fresh air in 1996.

Every time I put on this debut I forget how much I quote this in my life. Although I got old enough to be more focussed on the Dad rock Sessions of the last Albums from Phantom Power onwards I have to admit that this fuzzy, yelly, bratty whirlwind of a record is super important for my own understanding of what really was important on the waves of so called Britpop.
Another completely new one to me. Feels like British indie in the same vein as The Shins or something. Something 4 The Weekend feels a lot like a Spoon song, but I can't quite place which one. The whole guitar breakdown and composition is identical. I've had this on in the background and have generally enjoyed the vibe. Gathering Moss kind of feels like a Blur song -- standout to me so far. Mostly had this going in the background, and while it didn't command my attention often, it was enjoyable. I give it a 4/5 and deserves another listen.
Didn't do the best job listening to this one. Was having the stop and start a bunch so I might need to listen again. Felt like punk and alternative put together, but not in your face about it. I enjoyed a lot of the guitar solos. Feels like a 3.5 that deserves another listen.
Pretty typical 90's alternative to me. There were some good songs that stuck out I think If you Don't Want Me to Destroy You was my favorite. But then pretty forgetful otherwise. Good background music
Had never heard of this band before. But this album is pretty quirky and unique sounding. Really enjoying it. God! Show me Magic was a great start. Have definitely heard Something 4 the Weekend. Jam of a song. Solo on Hometown Unicorn slaps. Gathering Moss could’ve been written by Syd Barrett. Great chill tune. Fun fact: The devil brother from Little Nicky is speaking during the song Long Gone on the answering machine. Overall I really enjoyed this and sounds refreshing af to me. There were some inconsistent parts to it but over really good. Wish I could give it a 4.5 but I’m gonna round down to a 4.
I'm surprised this made it onto the list. It's good, it's like a bit derivative of 1960s music, like a lot of indie was around the mid nineties. It's got some extremely energetic tracks and great use of the theremin! Lovely guitar-based rock. I would listen again. Is it on a par with 'Dark Side of the Moon'? I am still working my head through my scoring system, but 5 is perfect, 4 is excellent, 3 is very good, 2 is ok but not great, and 1 is unlistenable. There almost needs to be a sixth rating to enable more variation between 3 and 1. 3-rated albums will have a big range of listen ability. So I think this is a 3... But it's very good, so maybe it IS a four.

Basically Ween, which is a good thing. Some fantastic and fun songs but also some brutally cringy songs (bad behavior was the worst offender)
This is like if you modernized David Bowie music but then took away the musical talent to perform the songs. Not too sure what appeal this has overall except maybe that it’s British and kind of has similar qualities to 70s glam pop. This is pretty poorly executed and not too enjoyable to listen to. Not gonna revisit 4.6/10
Quirky and catchy A bit of psychedelic mixed with 90s alt/pop rock
I know pretty nothing about this band, aside from the inclusion of their song "Hello Sunshine" in the "The Rock-afire Explosion" documentary (which is great!). I was surprised to learn that this is their debut album. It's incredibly well formed and layered for a band's first output and that in and of itself is impressive. This is a lot more up my alley than the Brit-pop stuff coming out in parallel from their colonizers.

Here's another one of those bands I've circled around for years but never properly listened to, and that's a damn shame. This is really fun stuff. Another album I'll definitely be revisiting often and another catalogue I'll have to explore further...

It was alright. It feels a bit dated nowadays since the production feels very very 90s, but the individual songs were catchy at the least. I thought the end stretch was really strong, where I started to emotionally resonate more with the songs, such as Long Gone and For Now and Ever. Otherwise, the songs bled together a bit. Will revisit to get more concrete thoughts in the future.
I had not heard of this band or heard their music, and I enjoyed listening to this album. Nice variety of influences here.
An interesting mix of different styles and an eclectic collection of strong songs from the band's debut record. This approach can be risky and hit and miss, but fortunately there are more hits than misses. Their music offers a lot of things I like, with a retro 60's sound, modernized for the mid-90's, so I really enjoyed the whole record. I need to explore the rest of Super Furry Animals discography and see how the rest of their career played out. By the way, one of the best band names I've heard in a while!

I listened to a previous album from Super Furry Animals early on in this list, but the name of the band was only roughly familiar. I liked the last album and I liked Fuzzy Logic too. Almost of all of the tracks were okay or better. Super Furry Animals seems to fit within the categories of stuff that I would like. Occasionally the vocals reminded me of okgo, and the music sounded like it would fit in with Beck or Blur. Hometown Unicorn", "Long Gone" and "Something for the Weekend" were the tracks I liked the most. The album was a little long, and a couple tracks keep me from rounding up to a full 4 stars. I would come back to at least part of the album.

I am mystified as to why this is here.
Not a bad album, but pretty boring. A good chunk of the songs had a decent hook they did nothing with, and I believe had this album released in the era the Super Furry Animals are trying to emulate, it would've been a release that just blends in with the rest of the timeframe. Voice wasn't as annoying as most other Britpop, though, so that is a plus, I guess.

Fuzzy, Furry, Funny fun. Sounds very 90s but it's all good. A surprising amount of variety despite not jumping out of its genre too much.

Barely tolerable mediocre nothing rock.
It was okay I guess. Kind of felt a little all over the place stylistically which didn't exactly help me get into it. This band was on my radar for a while and I'm glad that I can cross them off the list now. It wasn't a super great experience but I'm glad that I heard it, if you know what I mean.

Appropriate for the times, did not feel as weighty as the Wikipedia and Critical reviews would've made me guess. Likely worth a listen, definitely an influence to many of the British Indie favorites of mine.
I have heard about the band before but never listened to an album before today. It's a great rock album with elements of pychedelic, pop and glam rock. There are many great melodic songs on it which are quite accessible, but not too accessible. I liked it!

I kinda felt as though there was a weirdly high amount of 90s British Rock (of a few different stripes) on this list, and most of it has been a miss for me. Maybe it was a function of my lowered expectations, but I actually ended up enjoying this album. Not sure I'll ever revisit, but I think I'll enjoy it when the songs I saved come up on shuffle. This is a good rock album that combines elements of rock, pop, and psychedelia. Clearly drawing inspiration from Bowie and Elvis Costello, Super Furry Animals push some boundaries of innovating the genre. The album's first half is the most solid with catch rhythms, riffs, and some quirkiness. At the half-way point, some of the songs amble off the deep end and lose me, but overall, this is a decent little alt rock record.
I’m a little fuzzy on the logic of this album. Ha, it’s fine. Just kind of harmless 90s rock that has a slight psychedelic twinge to it. There wasn’t anything that really jumped out to me, but I appreciate some of the left field tracks.
Immediately left me with a fuzzy memory of its contents.

There are so many good things happening on this album but it doesn't seem to have adirection.
Overall pretty pleasant, not writing a sterling letter to the editor about my undying admiration but I didn't want to chew my own ears off or fight myself to not skip any tracks so that's a plus. Had some good rock sound with the band but vocally not that interesting.
This is a weird album. It's really interesting to hear a glam/psychedelic approach from a band that is firmly rooted in the 90s. It sounds good overall, though there were certainly times when it felt like they were trying to do Bowie, which I don't particularly enjoy (I love Bowie, but it's a big gamble to try and do a meaningful impression of him). Overall the album is really catchy and has enough diversity in the music to keep it interesting. It tapers off a bit toward the end, but overall it's really consistent 4/5

A decent album ruined by its production. This is pitched as a psychedelic rock album but it’s actually just a rock album (with some pretty fun and inventive songwriting here and there!) drowned out every few minutes by the tinniest phasing you’ve ever heard

I feel like I zoned out for 5 minutes and this album was already half over. It was really good but it felt super short to me.
Solid rock, a longtime favorite. An interesting flavor to this sort of post-heavy turn-of-the-century era alternative, is it Welshness?
Great to see SFA on the lift and whilst I world pick Radiator over Fuzzy Logic, this is a pretty fun debut and one of the more unusual indie records from the era. The band had their lively rock moments and delivered those well but they really shone on gentler tracks such as If You Don’t Want Me To Destroy You. I like the nods to psychedelic rock and their dabble in electronica.
Just like supergrass, very easy to hear where it came from, and what it helped inspire, which happen to be some of my favorite music in both directions.
It's a lot of noise going on. But not too bad. I think I was too harsh on George Michael last time cause I rate them similarly, and I think this is worth a 3.

I probably need to give this a few more listens. Only songs that really stood out for me were Long Gone, and For Now and Ever. After reading other reviews I feel like I'm missing something, maybe just not in the right frame of mind.
I don't have the same sort of deep rooted love for this album that I do for "Rings Around The World", but it's still a lot of fun. I think with more familiarity it could rise to a 5.... Fave track - "Something For The Weekend" for the more scuzzy rocky side of things, "Gathering Moss" for the more floaty psychedelic side of things...
This was a pretty standard late 90's British rock album. Kind of poppy, kind of manic, hardly intelligible, but fun and not too long. Reminded me of Harvey Danger or REM in its way, this was also kind of dreamy. I did listen twice just because I needed some music to have one while working, and this was a fine diversion. It didn't really have too many memorable songs, but again, nice to listen to once or twice. Favorite track: Gathering Moss

My first thoughts were that it was too silly, but then I realise that this is the ultimate party band and sounds so much better than Blur and Pulp. (I like Oasis)
Can’t say what’s precisely Welsh about their uninhibited and totally out-there approach, but it’s a both a hoot and a blast. Lots of Bowie, with easily as much glam as psychedelia, which is mostly of the Pink Floydesque variety. One fully digs the ebullience and is inclined to make the case that their sound is every bit as big as Oasis (without the posturing and pomposity) and much cleverer than Blur (without the self-congratulatorily thinking themselves the cleverest). The zany sound effects are additive to the mostly melodious mayhem, rather than being thrown in just to show off. Nice mix of full-on bangers (“Bad Behaviour” being the best) and a plethora mid-tempo thinkers (“Something 4 the Weekend,” “Hometown Unicorn,” “Mario Man,” “Long Gone”). One finds it all quite satisfying, however Welch is it, precisely.

Solid indie album, although it feels strange hearing Gruff sing in English for the whole thing. The man don’t give a fuck is a classic.
Fun pop rock that sounds like a combo of 90s alt, The Beatles, and STP. Easy and fun melodic and catchy band that I will listen to in the future for sure.

Reminiscent of New Pornographers or Supergrass. I’m not sure what sets them apart enough to have an album on this list. I tapped along to most of the songs but couldn’t tell you one now and it’s 30 minutes since I finished.
3/5 For being forgettable and repetitive. Who the fuck thinks that Fuzzy Logic is a "Must Listen to Before You Die?" "Have you heard Fuzzy Logic?" "No." "Oh ok it's fine, you arent missing anything." Have you heard cats in heat? Have you heard the brakes of a train? Do you need to before you die? No. It's like an album full of Helter Skelters.... Just why? Why is it a must hear?
Felt like the singer was doing his best Bowie impression and I wasn't overly impressed with it. The album seemed a bit... Messy? Unfocused? Pretentious? Not *awful* but not great - have heard far worse lately.

While listening to this album, I couldn't help but thinking what an apt band name and record name. It does sound like super furry animals, and does sound like fuzzy logic. It's a fun album in the usual strange unique vein of the band - closest references I guess might be Supergrass and The Flaming Lips, in quirkiness of the latter and pop-sensibilities of the former. Fun album to explore again in the future.
What a weird mix of britpop, art rock and glam. This is a record for people who want to dive into the musical history of Britain but have a very short attention span. I enjoyed the ride (I think?) but it feels like a tasting menu, where I never truly got to immerse myself into what was going on.

I don't think I'll often say this, but I didn't finish this one. There were elements, small elements that I liked, but overall the annoying parts really outsized the minor parts I liked.
This is a hard listen on a morning with a hangover. If I'd known about this last night, I'd be worse off today. I spent yesterday drinking alone, stalking Facebook for old girlfriends, thinking of all the tail I slayed and all the acid I ate. This would've been the perfect soundtrack.
A writer for NME, in reviewing Super Furry Animals' 7th album in 2005, wrote that "There’s a case to be argued that SFA are the most important band of the past 15 years." And compared them to the Beatles. Maybe they're way more popular and influential in Wales? Their debut, "Fuzzy Logic," was fine, but it didn't exactly set the world on fire or launch a Welsh Invasion of anywhere. But I must thank SFA for their most important decision in the lead-up to "Fuzzy Logic." An early version of the band featured actor Rhys Ifans on lead vocals, and while I'm not sure what caused him to split from the band, all were better for it. Well, at least Ifans was better for it. He's gone on to a terrific career, with performances ranging from Mycroft Holmes to the Lizard to Xenophilius Lovegood to his best and most recent, Ser Otto Hightower. Meanwhile, Super Furry Animals have... I'm guessing had lasting popularity in Wales?

I can get why people are into this, but I don’t find it to be Amazing. Definitely some good listens but it just isn’t hitting me in the way I have heard other people speak of this band. Scottish doing a Beatles but more Rockin’.
First listen: A throwback, but very fun. Some Blur vibes. Impressive horn section. Zombies influence. Verses on 3 bug me. Song 4 is fun but the whoo hoo vocals get very annoying. All in all the production is very nice 1970’s vintage sound. The vocals tend to be the element I dislike. Sentiment is clearly ‘90s Britt Pop Rock. Gathering Moss sounds lovely, again lead vocals come across as slightly disingenuous. The budget behind the album (orchestration on 7) screams a bit loudly paired with the kinda fuck-it vibe of the lead. This guitar solo sounds like an electronic slide whistle. Mario Man also sounds like Blur. Continue to be surprised by the money thrown at this project. For Now and Ever is very Weezer-sounding. Second listen: All sound very derivative of things Blur had done on their previous 3 albums, though Super Furry Animals might have done it even more consistently, , but there aren’t any songs I latch on to here as favorites. It all just sounds like some really decent Blur B-Sides, albeit really well-produced. Don’t think I could ever classify this album as a bucket-list record, just not hearing the innovation.
Most of the time this just felt like Weezer, but Welsh. It didn't have the zaniness that really drew me to Rings Around the World, but it was still a nice and fun record.
Really fun stuff, a bit of a Rocky open for me, but definitely swung an hit its goal after the fact.

I like how weirdly and defiantly punk it is during Britpop’s hey day, and there are some really cool harmonies here. Would like to hear more. B

I really like Super Furry Animals, but this isn't the album I would have chosen for this list. It's a decent pop rock album with plenty of good songs, and hints of the genius to come, but more direct and less creatively interesting than their later output. I do not recall hearing this band before. Despite that - they sound familiar. They sound very British and some of the songs remind me of The Beatles or Oasis. It is an entertaining album.
Super Blurry Animals! I had heard a few of these songs before but had always assumed they were by Blur and was never that intrigued to check. This is all very jolly, but to me sounds very derivative.
Fuzzy Logic is SO out of sync with the whole Creation / Britpop narrative of the time. It could have been released in 1971, it could have been released in 2022. Dumbed down rock sits happily alongside baroque. I love the almost cult like quality of SFA. They've always been very insular, and like The Man they don't... give a fuck. It was a pleasure to revisit Fuzzy Logic. Trippy.

Nothing special
If Pulp was on coke and listened to more glam rock. Production work is well done. It's all over the place, too ambitious for what they planned, with many ideas falling a bit flat. I especially liked their fusion of 60s jangle psychedelia with space noises, though the songs themselves are nothing extraordinary. This was a pretty solid 90s Britpop album. While I didn't really LOVE any track, I thought they were all pretty decent. I would give this another listen. I thought mostly the singles (opening track, Something for the Weekend, Hometown Unicorn) were the standout songs, with the solo/outro in Bad Behavior up there as well. 3.5 for me.

The psychedelic notes sprinkled throughout do add some color, but often the songs seem to peter out long before they actually end. A good effort.
😐 All the worst of British pop in one album. I became angrier with each subsequent song. These boys decided the worst album of the 70s hadn't been released yet so they dropped it themselves in 1993. Is this a satire album? If so, why is it so inane? Is that the joke? Absurd.

Trying to hard to be a tribute to Bowie and the seventies in general. Probably very smart, but not for me. One of these songs doesn't really annoy me, but two or more gets irritating.
This was okay. It felt very 90s to me. Based on the description, I expected to like it, but I didn’t really care for it.
I really like Frisbee. The song long gone reminds me of Pink Floyd, but in an irritating way. Not a bad album, but not my favorite. For Now and Ever is a great closing track.
I like this a lot when it was first released and think it was in my top ten foe year. Revisiting it for this exercise, I find it wears it influences on its sleeves a bit too much. As a result the album comes off as a singles collection with some very good filler. That, in itself, is retro, evoking the 60s. The catchy hooks of the individual tunes, and harmonies push this to a four star review.
This is a good but not great album. Nothing about it really stands out to me. Personally, I've never heard of this band but I don't feel like I missed out on anything. I can't imagine it would be on this list if the list was created by Americans.
I liked this album but not enough to listen again. It sounded a lot like David Bowie and got better with each listen, but I don’t really see what’s special about it. Another British 90s album which could have been cut in favor of a far more relevant Black artist.

kinda fun, fuzzy pop. I've never listened to this album but have listened to some of their other stuff. Never really got into them but they're not bad.
this album is all over the place! i do admire when an artist does not confine themselves to any one genre--or two. or three. i liked the range that super furry animals were able to project. it was such a weird listen but an enjoyable one. every song was unique, and somehow the whole album flowed? i wouldn't think this album would work but it does. some songs were absolute bangers ("god! show me magic", "something 4 the weekend") and others were sleepers ("long gone", "bad behaviour") and some weren't as good, but it made for a cohesive listen.
This album was fun and pretty unique! "Fusion" is a strong word that comes to mind when I think of this album. There were obvious fusions of glam, punk, psychedelia, and grunge throughout this album. As shown on this album, glam and grunge make such an enjoyable juxtaposition when done correctly. While this didn't blow me away, I really did enjoy it, and would gladly listen to it again!

Fun album, felt like a few songs on here I'd heard before on a soundtrack or maybe the radio. Decent start to the week but still waiting for that next five star album (or even four at this point).
Surprised to find that this is our second album from this band. I liked a few songs, it's just a run of the mill rock band with some good melodies here and there. I honestly don't know if I liked this more or less than the other, but we really don't need both of these. I'm going to vote to axe this one. Favorite tracks: Something 4 the Weekend, Hometown Unicorn, For Now and Ever. Album art: I don't dislike this one, it's a pretty cool mosaic cover. Not as vibrant or exciting as the cover for the other album we got, but it does the job. 3/5

Definitely an improvement over the last Super Furry Animals record I had. I would say I *mildly* enjoyed most of the songs. Very 60s/70s vibe and they pull it off well. 6/10

Pool party music from the 90's in the vein of Blur and Weezer. It still charms with its off-kilter vibes and hooks, but for the full experience you had to have been there. I wasn't. There's something very off-putting about the lead vocals, and maybe the production too. Why is it... raspy? Or like there's too much static in the mic? The problem with this album, for me, is that the melodic structure of many of the songs is quite basic so the songs really have to depend on expressive elements, like instrumental flairs and vocal style. And expressively this just doesn't do it for me.
its a decent album, mostly punk influences combined with some experimental rock. its not bad and it evolves throughout but i can't say it's really great either a weird one

Weird how familiar that album cover is considering I've never listened to it. I thought maybe I'd never listened to it because I didn't like them but I guess it was more just the restrictive price of cds and means of music sharing in 1996. And the fact that I wasn't indie enough. No beef with sfa.

It's about my third or fourth favourite SFA album, in that every second track is perfect riotous pop genius, as opposed to everything. The 90s Beach Boys were Welsh, and if you liked this, grab Radiator and Guerilla now!
3.6 - I was deep into Britpop back in the late-90s but these guys didn't get much airplay in the States so they weren't on my radar. To me this record sounds like a more cooky, less grandiose version of "The Bends."

That's what I like about indie rock. It's so adventurous and pure. Fuzzy Logic in particular sounds like a pastiche sometimes. I caught stuff from '70s rock to the britpop sounds of the '90s. But it didn't come out as unoriginal nor uninteresting. In fact, it's the most adventurous and fun indie rock album that I heard for a while. It can be messy and all over the place, but it's great rock nonetheless.
It is an interesting album, it's just not my thing.
Well, oh well. It's decently crafted, at least, and if I try aiming for objectivity (an impossible task, admittedly), maybe that's three stars. But to be honest, the overall feeling I get from this band (and album) is that it's a subpar version of Blur trying to imitate the Kinks with a few glam or psychedelic sprinklings here and there (nice arragements but rather inconsequential for me given the nature of the songs). Super Furry Animals admittedly got right a lot of ingredients from one of those oh-so-effective britpop formulas. Except from one *key* element: truly *dynamic* melodies and harmonies. So, I'm a little sorry to say this, but overall, this record is way too bland for my rock tastes. And consequently, this "Fuzzy Logic" is gonna get two stars only. Because I can't feel anything listening to this band. The artistic intent and overall sense of pop melody is a little too... fuzzy for me. Instead of writing a new review that criticizes the overabundance of British-Pop on this lis, I'll just copy/paste my last critique, which was also a Super Furry Animals album - just 12 albums ago. "With all due respect to Glass Animals fans, and fans of late 90s / early 00s BritPop – No. Understanding that the book this list is based on is British and most of it's contributors are British, the amount of unnecessary BritPop on this list is a head-scratcher. Rings around the world is an okay album. It starts off strong and almost halfway into the album I started getting annoyed and frustrated. Yay for the band that they peaked at number three on the UK charts, but across the pond you have to get to the Indie Charts before you even see this album rank a moderate 32 for the year. This is not a list-worthy entry. Perhaps I'm becoming annoyed at the draws that are giving me mediocre UK pop for the the third time in four days, but I'm hopeful tomorrow will be better. 3/5 for musicality | 2/5 for list worthiness."

From Wikipedia: "James Delingpole in a January 1997 review in The Daily Telegraph wrote the band had produced a 'strange mix of Bowie-esque glam rock, school-of-Syd-Barrett psychedelia and DIY kitsch'". I could not have said it better. This band is so distinctly out of time for 1996, it's hard to praise it for doing anything particularly daring. For what it's worth, Fuzzy Logic is certainly a successful blend of these influences. I just feel they do little to expand on them in a way that matters. It's a good sound, but nothing to write home about. Is this the best 90's act that Wales has to offer? I hope not.

A strong start, some good tracks, but a couple overstay their welcome...however, loved, loved Something 4 the weekend, although it reminds me of something I can't put my finger on...I want to say Polyphonic Spree's Light and Day, which came 8 year later so maybe they heard this track.

Do tego albumu muszę jeszcze wrócić, na pewno o wiele ciekawszy, niż większość tutejszych średniaków. Dobrze się tego słucha, szczególnie na słuchawkach - ktoś długo przesiadał nad masteringiem płyty. I są smyczki, z automatu +1 byczku.
Powinni bardziej się skupić na cheezy-rock-popie bo te kawałki brzmią dużo lepiej jak "something 4 the weekend"".
Nierówny album. Niektóre kawałki ze smyczkami bardzo mi się podobały, niektóre miały dziwny mix i bardzo nużyły, a wręcz były nieprzyjemne. W sumie jak na popo-coś, za mało są chwytliwi. Uczciwa trójeczka.

It took a couple of listens to get intrigued but after that threshold I found an alright album. It's pretty noisy but has clear melodies. I'm glad I gave it another chance otherwise it would've remained as a bad image. Still not a favourite of mine and only really liked a few songs, but have learned to appreciate it more. Something 4 the Weekend was the best song on here. I like how Super Furry Animals have Howard Marks, a famous drug smuggler from their country of Wales not only on their album cover, but referenced in one of their songs too. Not one of the best songs on the album but it's pretty cool regardless.

C'est pas mauvais. Quand c'est plus rock, on est dans du Weezer de cette époque, mais moins accrocheur. Quand c'est plus psychédélique et calme, les arrangements sont intéressants. Et dans les pièces plus smooth comme l'intro de Mario Man ou Gathering Moss, la voix est mixée comme dans bien des pièces de Damon Albarn (dans Gorillaz et surtout The Good, The Bad and The Queen pour la pièce Gathering Moss). La pièce Long Gone me fait beaucoup penser à The Dears à cause du ton de voix et des arrangements. Bref, pas mauvais, mais pas mémorable. Sûrement que j'y retournerai et si j'avais une playlist rock des années 90 à faire, j'irais sûrement y piger une pièce ou deux pour avoir un peu plus de variété.

One of the hippy guys that I worked with at Pizza Planet in Mt. Pleasant loved this band. I was always happy he was playing this instead of Phish. But that alone isn't enough to put it on this list...haha. I liked this record. Fuzzed out guitars and great vocal harmonies. What's not to love? I like that the record starts screaming out of the gates. No warm ups here like Supertramp. Which just proves there are a number of ways to effectively start a record. This is another record from the late 90s that I really wish I would have heard at the time. I was searching for something interesting at that point. Beyond the power chords of Nirvana, Bush, and Silverchair. But not so heavy like most main-stream rock at the time. When Weezer shit the bed after Pinkerton (I've since realized there are moments after that, but they aren't the lighting-in-a-bottle that the first two records were), I was really only left with Superdrag. Whereas the 'drag brought American Power Pop influences to my impressionable mind, Super Furry Animals would have brought in the UK pop sensibilities into the mix. There is a lot of Bowie and Eno-esque stuff happening here. And I love that. FAWNN played a show with Gruff Rhys in Pontiac once. He was a very nice dude and it was fun talking to someone from Wales about American Whiskey. He loved it. And weed.
