Reviews (page 7 of 8)

Interesting Elvis cover. The rest is a solid punk record that is not my cup of tea to be honest.

A fun and noisy album, but listened to this on a day that was not what i was looking for. Not my style, but I enjoyed the craziness behind it!

Not my thing overall, but I always liked them for being out front with their sound and high energy. It’s not repulsive, just not something that I’m gonna go to on my own.

Just wasn’t my style, but I can see why it was an important album

My reyt run endeth here. First the positives: I quite like the name of the album and the dreadful noise only lasts a relatively short time. The negatives: The aforementioned dreadful noise.

Those vocals were meant to be a joke, right? If not I feel sorry for the lead singer for thinking it sounded good. Other than that it was mediocre I guess. 2 stars

Pre-listening thoughts: oh brother more punk... our amazing streak is over... Post/during listening thoughts: yikes! Wow this was not very good. I try to reserve my ones for things I had to skip through because they were genuinely unlistenable/gave me a headache and this cut it pretty close but I'm feeling kind so it will be a low 2. 3/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: no Fav tracks: Let's Lynch the Landlord Least fav tracks: Chemical Warfare but also most of this tbh. That was just a standout bad one

I hate Jello Biafra's voice and musically this strikes me as basically just angry noise. "California Über Alles" is pretty good as long as you don't listen to the lyrics too closely, which are dumb just like the rest of the lyrics to these songs. It seems like punk can either be completely nihilistic/hedonistic, or advocate for cliched "fuck the system" politics. While I think "fuck the system, burn it to the ground!" is fine if you’re a 16 year old white suburbanite, what about a mother of two kids with disabilities who relies on “the system” for support to feed her kids? “Well that’s just a band aid and we need to tear it all down so people like that will revolt and make real change!” Well how many people have to die for that revolt to happen? Are you volunteering to be one of them or is it just the poor and the old and the disabled? And are you going to rebuild a new system that continues to do the limited amount of good that our current system does? And is this hypothetical new system not going to be just as bad as every other system people have had in place since we invented agriculture? This time is going to be different? Punk rockers are like the angry dude pretending to want to fight the big guy who pissed them off at the bar while their friends are holding them back. They can only spout off at the mouth because they are safe in the knowledge that they can't actually do anything so they won't have to suffer any consequences. If you gave a random assortment of punk rockers the ability to make actual change they would wilt just as fast as the fake tough guy telling someone "you're lucky these guys are holding me back!" would if his friends let him go. I agree the system sucks in a lot of ways. But I don’t want to tear down the system. I want to keep the beneficial parts of our current system and work to make gradual change that builds a fairer and more just society. But that message doesn’t really help you sell records to angry teenage boys.

Not a big fan, some songs that were decent

Aluks mietin että miten jaksaa kuunnella. Vaikka aika tasapaksua kamaa, aloin lämmetä puolivälissä. Irtonainen meininki.

Sounds like punk music shrug

À bit too punk for me !

Not my thing

Really fun to listen to some punk rock because I wouldn't usually. Fun listen on a fast run but think I'd hate it in most other contexts

I wanted to give this a 3 really badly. I like the punk purity of it, but I just don't really enjoy the sound. It is a lot more musically engaging than something like Public Image Limited though.

Lyrics are still very poignant by and large. Instrumentation maintains a very rapid, unceasing urgency. Especially love the drums and bass on Drug Me.

It was good. But I probably won't listen to it again.

Панк, видимо с политическим контекстом, и сатирой Наверное здорово, но по музыке не зашло послушала 3 песни, походе на менее мелодичный соад

A lot of the songs sounded the same. It also sounded so frantic.

Better than I thought it was going to be, but still not anything I’d listen to again.

Not good. I would never listen to this again.

Not my taste. Fun for one song, but not a fan

"Kill kill kill kill kill the poor". Duidelijk. We krijgen punk in zijn meest kinderachtige vorm. En toch. Het is wel catchy. Toch even opletten dat ik straks aan tafel met de kids niet dit refrein zachtjes zing...

If you want to listen to some proper punk you should listen to Houmous & Chutneys 11th studio album ‘Hey Guys! This Is Proper Punk’ 2.3

слишком панк, долго я такое не выдерживаю, спасибо)

That was just awful. (Tim admires their moxie.)

Not an album I’ve listened to before knowingly and not one I would seek out as my punk loving days ended about the same time as mainstream punk did. Would have liked this back in the day but I hardly listen to any of my punk albums bought then so this would have suffered same fate. That said all the songs were entertaining but like a lot of punk stuff became a bit boring due to repetitive three chord riffs. 2/5 11/2/25

I made it through. Seemed rather monotonous and angry to me.

I like punk, and I like angry music, but it's got to have some variety and *some* level of musicality. This one had one or two tracks I thought were good, the rest was pretty meh.

Stop, he's already Kennedy

I appreciate their influence they made with their punk/hardcore punk music - their playing is tight and very precise. The songs on this album are short and well made. But I don't like the singing and this kind of hardcore music is not my cup of tea at all, so I rate this album based on this.

Niet mijn smaak wel goeie gitaar 2.4

more generic rock

So this was one of the 8 bands that shaped punk rock? Ok great, not for me though.

I really wanted to like this album but I hate Jello Biafra's voice. I love a little satire and shock value but the lyrics were just barf. For being a big punk album it was a real let down for me.

Kozak. dojebana fajna przyjemna

it was fun, but not really my jam

I’m a big punk fan but DK has always been a little bit cringy to me.

I liked this more than I thought I would but it's still a bit too rowdy for me.

Wasnt that good tbh. quite boring

Didn't stand out from the usual grunge I listen to.

The cover artwork for Dead Kennedys' "Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables" features burning police cars, symbolizing the outrage following the White Night Riots. While the concept is powerful and aligns with the band's anti-establishment ethos, the execution falls short. The grainy black-and-white photograph lacks clarity, making it difficult to appreciate the details of the scene. This lo-fi aesthetic might resonate with punk's rawness, but it detracts from the impact of such a significant moment in history. Overall, while the artwork attempts to convey a strong message, its visual quality undermines its effectiveness, earning it a mere two stars. Album artworks rated: 14/1001 Music's great tho.

Reasonable in parts, but overall the album style and content isn't for me.

I did not like this album.

Ægte punkrock, masser af tempo og rå vokal

Loud and fast, if you like that sort of thing.

I'm of the persuasion that there are no good songs under two minutes in length (with the notable exception of You Gave Your Love To Me Softly), so this was more than a little challenging for me, to say the least. On the bright side, this did resonate with me more than the other albums I've listened to on this website. I may appreciate it more on a second listen

A hardcore punk staple of the genre that ultimately feels dated to my ears.

I like punk, but to be honest I’m not too fond of the very fast punk like this. But I did bob my head and tap my feet listening to this record though.

I wasn’t really feeling this album tbh. I think punk music has come a long way since the days of Dead Kennedy’s and Sex Pistols. The most refreshing part was the cover of Viva Las Vegas lol

Um, this was just not for me.

Not my thing

I don’t think I would have been a punk.

Some of the songs where kinda fun, but it's not something I would ever choose to listen to.

Yeah lead singer’s voice ain’t doing it for me. Guitar guy is killing it though

Punk sesentero. No me ha llamado la antención.

Ouf ça crie pas mal à mon goût, eeeeurgh 2 étoiles et n’en parlons plus

I think ultimately punk is just not really my thing. I can take it in small doses.I think maybe it's because of the vocals and the drumming being delivered in such a 1,2,3,4 on the beat pace. Strangely enough, if you take some punk guitar riffs and play them to a cut time drum beat, it gives it more of a groove. You hear examples of it with RHCP, RATM, and Alien Ant Farm. That, I can get.into. I remember my old college room mate was really into NOFX, Lagwagon and early Blink 182. Those bands seemed to be 90 percent of what he listened to all day and sometimes I'd need to leave the room because of it. I eventually introduced him to Deftones and Tool. This album was fast, furious, chaotic and in your face, which seems to be a main goal of punk from this era. It had a lot of energy. The recording sounded low quality and like it was done in a garage. The vocal tone of the singer to me was bordering on obnoxious, which again may have been the anti establishment goal. I found 'Stealing People's Mail' and 'Holiday In Cambodia' to be standouts.

I mean, it's okay. Sounds very 'formula punk'. Nothing really original. And every track sounds only ever so slightly different to the last. Not convinced.

Not really a fan. The best punk bands had split up or moved on to better things by 1980. Silly voice too!

I appreciate the politics more than the music.

Kill The Poor // California Uber Alles // 2.5/5

Ah. American Punk. It has/had it's place, but it's place is not in my music collection. I enjoyed it once though, so it's two stars rather than one.

Uninspiring punk with repetitive track list. Exhausting to listen to. Terrible sound quality. Some good riffs from time to time.

Nog meer punk, joepie!

Es un punk mezcla con ska bien crudo, a mi particularmente no me interpela y me revienta la cabeza. Por ahí en otro contexto, que no sea estudiando, se valora y disfruta más.

Punk rock band does punk rock things. Edge lord singer does edge lord songs. Nothing out of the usual or remarkable, maybe just how they were noticeably worse at doing punk than any other punk band I’ve had so far.

Some punk hasn't aged well, and most of this album falls into this category apart from their single "Holiday in Cambodia" which I quite liked, and the quirky cover of the Elvis song "Viva Las Vegas".

It was ok. Sounds a bit dated. Not really for me.

Hectic

They've got the spirit, reminds me a lot of System of a Down. Probably because I listened to them in reverse order this one sounds undeveloped, rather than influential

US punk always seems basic to me, un melodic.

fila þetta bara ekki neitt

Um yk I feel like fighting the man but like all this kinda music isn’t my cup of tea. I bet I would like it more in a mosh pit tho.

It's an alright punk album. Not the biggest fan of the vocals and the lyrics are pretty corny but I guess that may just be it aging poorly. The instrumentals are pretty good but they tend to blend together from song to song. 2.5/5

I don't like punk music in general. This album occasionally had some funny or interesting moments, that's why I rate it as 2, not 1.

Higher artform music

Punk sesentero. No me ha llamado la antención.

One thing I’ve learned from this 1,001 albums project: I really hate punk.

Not my style. Can’t appreciate much about it.

Fine but monotone

I can't deny that it's the punkiest punk that punk can get. Perhaps it is if sounding annoying is a feature of the genre. I appreciate the concept and the punkiness, but I wouldn't listen to it again.

I quite liked the singles from the album when I first heard them but had no real interest in exploring anything else by the band at the time and still don't now.

favorites: your emotions, holiday in cambodia

Very fast paced punky rock songs, could be mistaken for sea shanties. They're all just a bit disorganized for me and the melodies don't make up for it in my opinion. Lyrics are also quite random. Could see them being fun to listen to in a pub, but honestly nowhere else

Other than 'California Uber Alles' this was not enjoyable.

I really didn’t like this album. For some reason it bothered me- I think it was too scratchy for me and not classic enough which I know sounds like I have a closed mind but it just really irked me.

Not my cup of tea, but I can see how people that enjoy this style of music would enjoy this band.

Malo tvrdo za moj ukus. 4/10

Interesting but dated. And not in a good way. Less a document of a time than an album that no doubt sounded radical (tm) and wevolutionary (tm) (in my best rik Mayall voice) when they’d finished. There’s perhaps a hypothesis - let’s call it Lewis’s hypothesis - the more offensive the artist name, the less interesting the music. Again maybe too harsh. But … give me never mind the bollocks or Ramones.

not my favorite genre

Not really my thing but it's not like it was bad

Partly heard before Saved ?/14 Top track:

I had high hopes for this album, as I am a fan of punk rock. However, I was disappointed by the lack of originality and creativity in this debut album by the Dead Kennedys. The songs sound like a poor imitation of the Sex Pistols. The music is fast and loud, but also monotonous and repetitive. The vocals are shrill and annoying, and the production is poor and amateurish. The only song that stands out is “California Über Alles”, which is a catchy and sarcastic satire of the hippie culture and the political situation in California. The rest of the album is forgettable and boring, and the final track, a cover of “Viva Las Vegas”, is a terrible way to end the album. It is a mockery of the original song, with distorted vocals, distorted guitars, and distorted lyrics. I would not recommend this album to anyone, unless they are a hardcore fan of the Dead Kennedys or punk rock in general. I give it 2 out of 5 stars.

Musically, so much better than the Circle Jerks rubbish we had on here recently. But I can’t stand the vocalist. So it can’t be any higher that a low 2 rating because of him.

Another from my teens when I know no better! Good old US Punk. 'California Uber Alles' and 'Holiday in Cambodia' always the standout tracks. Loved Jello Biafra's vocal delivery. Haven't listened probably since my teens, as moved onto more mature listening experiences, nice to revisit and enjoy. So a gets a high 2

Ihan punkkirallikimara. Ei kuitenkaan mun intohimo

I suppose that's the lamest in all the "classic punk" era

Lead singer has an annoying lisp. Songs just kinda feel flat. Pretty stereotypical 80s punk rock. Kinda reminds me of background music in a tiny hawk game.

Not the biggest fan of hardcore punk but they were influencers, respect.

Wow, I do NOT like punk. This one could benefit from a remaster. Sounds like a lot of noise to me - although there's a good amount of creativity. Song titles like Califoria Uber Alles get me thinking, which is part of the intention of this record. I'm also noticing that a lot of albums from 1980-2000 just have covers/alternate renditions of songs? I don't like this trend, Viva las Vegas isn't a good song for this album IMO. Sonically though, just not for me. 3/10

Tricky. Very mixed bag. I can see how it was seminal at some point, but I'm not really enjoying it (not hating it) today.

I require a special brand of punk music. This is not it but I appreciate the commitment, especially in songs like Chemical Warfare.

Manic and satirical. Sounds like they inspired several 90s bands. Tough to enjoy.

I can hear why so many metal and thrash bands were influenced, but not my jam. Kill the Poor isn't bad nor is Holiday in Cambodia

I liked the name of the songs and the angst in them, but I had trouble differentiating the vocals from the cacophony in the background. I would love to see this album remade by Miley Cyrus and Five Finger Death Punch , each with their respective artistic tastes and styles.

Interesting

Early punk, probably better with context of the music scene. Basic premises but controversial topics with aggressive delivery, short songs.

Punky punk. Never been my favorite

I don't like it, it's just so chaotic and noisy.

I didn't prefer this.

Interesting to say the least. A few of the tracks made me bob my head a little, but overall it was too much noise. Which is what they're going for, but it wasn't nice to listen to. I'm finding a lot of the punk albums don't land with me.

Fun listen, muddy recording

I love the spirit of punk - much more than the actual music it must be said. Although the second time listening I did enjoy it a lot more.

Punk. Not the Sex Pistols or as catchy as the Sex Pistols.

Mercifully short

Lead singer has a distinctive voice, the album grew on me as it went on. Then it stopped growing on me.

Going back to day 1 quickly, just to give a rundown of the 4 prior albums: Enter the Wu-Tang: A very good album in a genre I wholly enjoy, it just didn’t have any standout tracks for me to elevate it to a 5 Born in the USA: Some of the clearly less ‘American Hero’ songs were really fun but as a whole, it was a little too much of that at times. Ready to Die: As good as this album is, and I truly loved each song, I would revoke the 5th star if possible. No album in the world should be 19 songs long and it takes away from the final portion. If each segment before and after the interlude was a separate album I would 5-star each. Having that many songs with a similar sound does make it harder to appreciate the final 2/3 songs. Deep Purple in Stone and Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables: Both under explored genres for me so I’d hope to come back to both with more appreciation. That being said, Deep Purple was a mixed bag, some really enjoyable and others a bit too much. Then the Dead Kennedys, I could appreciate the talent throughout but it all merged into a singular song for me almost, making it to harder to Identify particular points.

Punk sesentero. No me ha llamado la antención.

2/5 Best: Holiday in Cambodia Worst: Stealing People's Mail

This guy's voice kind of got on my nerves haha. Not my kind of vibe.

This was kinda funny

I can see the appeal here, but it's just not for me. Lyrics are really fun and cheeky once you actually look them up, because otherwise understanding more than half of it feels impossible.

ваще не понял панкуха как панкуха

Not at all for me, but I can understand their appeal.

I’ve never been a fan of punk and I’m not now although I can tolerate some bands. I only listened once which was enough so a disappointing 2*

Alright so I know it's influential and I know this came out in 1980 so it's ahead of it's time but I just don't love it. DK are such a well known and respected band in punk but to be honest if I need someone to justify the music not being great by all of these other factors then I'm not really going to be swayed too much. Jello Biafra's vocals sound kind of boring and the forced vibrato to me sounds like someone who said "my voice is uninteresting let me add something silly to it to remedy that". I just don't love it. Maybe there's another release that they have that I would like more?

Painful

2/5 not impressed even for year and genre

Good punk, all sounded fast and the same

Nog steeds niet mijn genre. Nummers hebben wel leuke titels.

In the same vein that I am not a huge Ramones fan, I'm even less a fan of Dead Kennedys. That punk rock one minute long song that sounds the same as the last one just doesn't appeal to me. I won't say it's bad, and I recognize the effects these types of albums had on the zeitgeist at the time, but just isn't my type of music. Though, this album has Holiday in Cambodia which was on Guitar Hero so props there (also a 4 minute song!).

Not a fan of this one.

Feels kind of dated, not the most interesting thing to listen to.

The energy is impressive but it's just not an enjoyable listen for me.

Too fast paced and arhythmic for my taste

Well this got pretty tedious pretty quickly. A lot of noise in search of a song Only the Viva Las Vegas cover saved it from 1 star

Not a fan of early punk

Its ok. Holiday in cambodia is good

meh. mediocre punk.

Ain't my thing.

Punk sesentero. No me ha llamado la antención.

Never been my thing.

Meh. Screaming.

I might need to listen to this album a bit more before it grows on me. Felt a little formulaic from my perspective.

Rowdy and lyrics centering on social issues. Fast-paced punk. Standout is "Kill the Poor"

old metal was wild lmao

Decent punk album, it doesn’t really hit my taste and the songs aren’t long enough for me to enjoy

I can see why somebody might like. I can disagree with people

Of its time. Still a good noise but not a keeper

4/10 some good moments, but.

Loud and aggressive and interesting ideas on how terrible the world is but personally a little too much.

Can't really vibe with these guys. California Uber Alles.. great song tho.

Un peu dur de se mettre dans l'ambiance mais une fois qu'on l'est c'est sympa, un peu trop criant à mon goût.

Well these guys can certainly play fast. Lots of energy here and this is much more listenable than say the Sex Pistols. Jello Biafra’s warbling vibrato singing and their political lyrics that try to shock seem very quaint and cliched today though. Not my jam but I’ll give a nod since they can actually play.

Not much of a fan

What do these boys have against the poor and landlords anyway?

ja nou, soms leuk soms niet maar ik ga het niet nog eens opzetten

not a fan

low brow political, i'm sure they had impact at one point

I only kinda dig it

Not for me.

Engelse punkrock. Leuke melodie'tjes, maar beetje vervelende zangstem. Wel geinig, niet heel geweldig. **

It is a punk rock album. The lyrics are really eccentric. It was kinda of meh overall but that is all punk rock albums. It was relatively short, but there were 14 songs. I will not be revisiting the album.

Low-variation punk. Not horrible, but does nothing for me. 2/5

Too heavy for me - appreciate the talent but I’m not into this sun-genre

Although I love their politics I found them a little too one note.

2.5 / 5. Not bad for a first listen. I can definitely get into this one. need to hear it more though.

I get that it's an important album but fuck me Jello Biafra is insufferable.

One of my college roommates loved these guys. He was my inroad into hardcore punk. I did not not like it. The first time I listened to this album (this time) I was enjoying some of it. Nostalgia had something to do with it, but I’ve also come to like proto punk and other punk adjacent genres. There is some good guitar stuff throughout. The energy comes shooting out of the speakers. The lyrical social commentary is anti-establishment, pro-down-trodden, and anarchical. The poor get fucked over and corporations control everything. Not much has changed. Upon second listen (this time), my feelings are similar to those from college. My biggest issue is how Jello Biafra uses his voice, his affectations. It’s thoroughly annoying. The way he sings makes it difficult to understand the lyrics. Maybe that’s part of the point, but I had to look them up. To end on a positive note, I do like Holiday in Cambodia.

Some good some not so good

Dont like this type of music, really.

Political energetic punk, reminiscent of Sex Pistols, but not quite as tuneful. Not my taste.

I mean this is fine, not particularly a fan of Dead Kennedys or their style of early punk but can appreciate it. 5/10.

I don’t think I needed to listen to this before I die. But, I have and I wont be getting that time back. Oh well.

Unbelievably hateful. Coming in a close second to GG Allin. I wonder when I’ll be assigned his slop.

Pretentious, theatrical punk rock feels like a betrayal of an ethos. They’re all technically talented (with the possible exception of Jello who’s too busy with his sophomoric character study to let on). But It just doesn’t sound like anyone takes the music seriously; it sounds like a prop for Jello’s nonsense which pushes the band into the novelty act category.

Einfach nur Herumgebrülle! Simply bad, very bad!

Yeah, nah. Probably a good example of that style, but it's an inaccessible style.

Lustige Namen aber nicht mein Musikgeschmack

Lucky for me I had two young children in the ‘80s and had no time to listen to this garbage.

Just remove all punk and replace with a best of album, as all sounds the same

Not for me. There's a few songs where I kinda saw the vision, but the general singing style and most of the vibe just didn't work for me. I think because of that this is going to be one of my rare 1 stars. Sorry, Dead Kennedys.

Militant qui tâche. Ça fait le taff mais c’est inécoutable.

I think i simply dont like punk as much as i thought cus this was not good at all.

Exceptionally unlistenable.

Not for me. 1/5

Not my cuppa. Appreciated the instruments (impressive drums, guitar) and those were a five for me but couldn’t get past the vocals.

Frenetic hardcore punk built on jagged surf-tinged guitars, rapid drums, and biting, sneering vocals explodes with chaotic urgency. Listening feels like being dragged through a crowded protest where slogans, noise, and satire collide at full speed. The result is sharp, abrasive, and politically charged—messy at times but deliberately confrontational.

Some fleeting moments of musical interest, otherwise dire. 1.5

Nomen est omen

Angry puno

Kut punk

Blödschrei

ZERO star. Not music, just screaming. I don't get it!!!

Onkohan tässä joku idea että biisit kuuluu eri voimakkuudella? Yhteistäkin sentään biiseistä löytyy, yhtä paskoja kaikki. Ei oo Kennedyt ihan tarpeeksi kuolleita selkeesti.

Dead Kennedys – Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables While I can't deny the influence this band/album had on punk genre, this might be the absolute side of rock I fear. Chemical Warfare, bro that noise was menacing. The lyrical content throughout the LP is built on extreme, violent satire and feels needlessly to be dark, trading the immaculate musicianship of previous days for a wall of noise. This might be me standing behind the moshpit with a my hands on the chin wondering what I got myself into. For a listener who values groove and soul, this is a "hard pass" on the genre a 1/5 that marks a low point in an otherwise triumphant month of discovery.

No pude escuchar más de una canción. Primer día hábil de trabajo del 2026.

Bad 1/5

Horrendous. Horrible. Dumpster fire. Hot garbage. I could go on …

This made me angry.

Trop crié, trop répétitif.

This blows. Borderline unlistenable. 1.5

Punk, but a bit too much for me

Jello Biafra's vocal style has always got in the way of me being able to enjoy DK songs

I appreciate their protest and anti-establishment lyrics but their music - no!

Not interested. 1

1st song - nope. second song - no way. 3rd song - nope. NEXT!

I hate punk so much I can't get to the important parts. Objectively is it a 1? Probably not. However, this is a subjective assessment. 1

very noisy and tiring listen. besides "Holiday in Cambodia" there's not much memorable stuff inside

No, not my kind of music.

Ho provato a dare un’opportunità a quest’album ma non ci siamo. Mi dispiace not my cup of tea.

No puedo. L'album que j'ai le moins aimé jusque là. Les instruments m'ont pas touché mais c'est surtout la voix que j'ai vraiment pas aimé. 1/5

A whole bunch of shouting and noise, so when I had this in the background while working, things felt a lot more intense than they actually were. I wasn't a huge fan of this at the time, so I would say overall a bit meh.

Dead Kennedys is a seminal punk rock band no doubt. I like some music from the genre and listened to this album with the GF who is a huge fan. Fresh Fruit may have been fresh at the time but it was more a pile of rotting vegetables for me. Jello Biafra is a strange dude and I could not get into his vocals. "California Uber Alles" was the only song I cared for. The rest was a fast, noisy mess. The DK, Operation Ivy, and misfits logos are common tattoos for the diehard punk rocker and I guess I can appreciate the foundation laid down by these groups. I'm just not that into it...1.3 stars.

Hardly any fresh fruit but plenty of rotting vegetables. (some reviews just write themselves)

I get it’s an important stepping stone but goddamn this shit is hard to listen to

Not for me

Punkrock band, with some okay songs, but then also noise such as Drug Me. The overall vibe is really busy, not what I listen music for. I had to turn off chemical warfare, as it got too alternative.

Why? Just, why?

It’s a Lot

just awful

Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables is a furious, politically charged punk record, but it does not bring anything genuinely new to the genre’s established formula. The riffs, tempos, and song structures feel so rigidly tied to classic punk conventions that the album rarely steps outside familiar territory or offers a fresh perspective in terms of sound. As the record goes on, the relentless similarity between the tracks creates the impression of hearing a single, extended song rather than a varied collection. The energy is undeniable, but the lack of musical variation and innovation makes the listen increasingly monotonous, as if one long, noisy blast had simply been stretched across the entire album.

I found it insufferable

1/5 I don't like punk

Punk band.. Music ok for punk. Fun to see them take some older songs, and put their punk rock spin on them.

I really thought I was gonna listen to the best albums I must hear before I die, not the shitty ones...

Sjonge jonge, m'n oren gaan hiervan tuiten. Meer punkmeuk in razend tempo. Er wordt nog wel aardig gespeeld, maar de zang is echt afgrijselijk. Dan nog liever de bekende volkszanger uit Fijnaart.

I don't need this kind of thing in my life and the lead singer's voice is annoying.

Ei yhtään omaan makuun, yksi kautta viisi.

I can’t do this punk shit I’m really genuinely sorry

This was painful to listen to. Couldn’t make it through more than a few minutes of a few songs. But I can see how this was way ahead of it’s time in 1980.

I've heard better sounding noises coming from my bathroom

Good music. Not a fan of the lyrics

Not good. Sounds like REM trying to do trash metal. I prefer thrash metal a lot more than this crap....and I am not a huge fan of it,

🙄🙄🙄 Just awful. I can’t understand how a person could listen to this and think “now THIS is talent!!!” Stupid lyrics, awful singing. Is there a worse combination for music out there?? It was so unpleasant. I must have a totally different idea of what the point of listeninfg to music is. Some people must listen to feel like garbage. To each his own 🤷‍♀️

Not for me

As much as I love the band Rage Against the Machine and the fact that the Dead Kennedy's hugely inspired them, I've never been a fan of the band particularly . I find the punk they played (despite pathing the way for many) a little too raw and primitive, Early Punk came around at a pre-teen time for me so I never really identified with it. But I can understand this identity that some would connect to, and help them rebel against society, the system, parents or the general grown up world! It's just not something I can relate to, and look back at with any warm nostalgia, it was just a noise.

All sounded the same and it wasn’t good

This guy's voice is like nails on a chalkboard

I don't like punk rock. I partially listened to a few tracks and it confirmed it again. I don't like punk rock.

Lot of shit

Utter chaos. Not my thing.

Not really my cup of tea. Not bad punk per-say, just not my genre of choice.

Hard Pass, can't believe I made it through this garbage. I must have been feeling masochistic that day. Will never listen again.

Certainly I just HAD to hear such great tunes as “I Kill Children” and “Let’s Lynch the Landlord” before my demise. They get a point for staying on tempo at such a breakneck speed, and at least the ‘songs’ are short.

STANDOUTS: Viva Las Vegas (Cover) OVERALL: 1.5/5; fun band name though.

It’s probably wrong to complain about a band being formulaic when they invented the formula but apart from Holiday in Cambodia (which teases doing something else), everything was just ever decreasing circles of the same muddy songs and crap singing.

From track 1 this came off like a worse version of the clash album we reviewed. I really just don’t get that feeling that they truly care out of these songs. Feels like it lacks genuineness and it lost me very quickly as such.

Just terrible

I like punk, but this one sucks.

There is a lot of music in the world, why does this list need so much punk?

I just don’t like punk, it feels like it’s satirising something and I just can’t take it seriously

Rare 1 star review ^ω^

Holiday in Cambodia is catchy but the rest of the album just gives me a headache.

not a fan

Weir and political ... a fitting combination

What is even this crap?

Punk sucks. The only nice part of this album was that it was short, competitively.

Not really.

The titles of the soungs wouldn’t want me to play them. It not my type at all.

No just no 1

Horrible

Not my jam

My head hurts...

Deaf punk trash

Not my thing

Not my style.

Not to my tastes american punk is not good

Rubbish. Just a load of noises. I'll never get this sort of music

This album is sincerely bullshit. All the songs sound the same with some random guitar noise in the background and no correlation with the vocals or anything. It feels empty and created from an important lack of artistry. Expected Marc rating: 3
