Nice, if uninteresting twiddling indie acoustic. The kind of music made to appear in car and mobile phones commercials.

Very tough for me to mark this one as a 2 but I think I have to as it's not got any memorable or catchy jams and I care about that. I'd put this under indie-folk (indie rock + folk rock), as it generally matches that, however, this is an incredibly varied album. I managed to find tracks that covered the following genres (in this order): Western Classical (shout out to muted trumpets), Grunge/Rock?, Indie, Folk, Hip Hop, Blues (this guy fucking plays banjo), Alt Rock (crazy pedal effects), Pop Rock (sounded like The Beatles or something), Piano Balad (shout out to the harp), American Country, Disco (excuse me what!?) and Big Band Swing. This solo multi-instrumentalist makes an impressively competent and cohesive album with small interludes and mostly gapless tracks that flow well between each other (except that wild disco one). He manages to link them together with his folky style, and manages to get his electric guitar sounding completely different on every track, in order to match the style. Incredibly impressive and very peaceful music, but I've never really listened to folk rock before so am unattuned to it (unless you count Mundford and Sons lol).

This bored me mostly but it was inoffensive.

Thought he was a bit bland in 1999 and I think he's a bit bland in 2021

That was interesting. I'm not sure what lyrical content was going on but overall, the album felt like it went somewhere which was nice. There are some other whiney voiced acts that I would go to before these guys.

Alt rock, meh. I find this album flaccid and boring. Magic in the Air is a pretty decent song. Disillusion is more my speed.

Never even heard of this one, artist or album Nice intro cello/horn arrangement if not a little bland/Pachelbel A little worried because I absolutely hate the artwork Baroque pop folk Charming production Songwriting isn’t standing out to me initially For me this feels like a less exciting + emotionally resonant Sufjan Very ‘INDIE’ Honestly barely got through this one. It has all the dressing of something I would have really liked ten years ago, I think had our paths crossed earlier I might have a better relationship to it. Listening now it feels unremarkable. There were some cool production moments. The songwriting didn’t stick with me at all.

Unfortunately, this album isn't for me.

Crap English Band Alert!!! Another entry from a UK act that doesn’t belong on this list. This album has very little going for it. The one song I liked was Everybody’s Stalking, mainly because it sounds a bit like Alice In Chains’ Got Me Wrong. Everything else was very bland. This guy’s voice is below average and the songs were not well built out. Better than a couple of the others who sucked on this list, but still getting 1 star out of spite.

I normally put on the daily album when I get home and do my nightly jobs to keep the home going. Today I mowed the lawn. Listening to this made the the 1hour job seem like 3 hours. I would not listen to this again

Not sure if I'm still tainted from experiencing him moan on stage at a festival about the sound crew, then the lighting crew, the amount he was getting paid by the festival and then the crowd or whether this is just an awful album . . . no, I've tried to listen to it some more . . It's an awful album (he has a couple of decent tracks in his locker though)

It should be illegal for albums this boring and dreadful to be this long. I got the picture by about the third song, it could have ended there, though I'd still give this a 1. This is Elliot Smith for people who like watching paint dry. Bland, uneventful, uninspiring, dull, and soulless - half of the reason I hate this shit is the guys one tone singing voice throughout the whole album, making every song sound the same. The only redeeming factor of this record is the really shitty artwork that looks like a kids scrapbook version of Exodia the Forbidden One from Yugioh lmfao.

Ugh. I did not care for it. I was not familiar with the band or the album or any of the songs. I will not be revisiting it. It was indie music but not full blown indie music. It is better than a 1 not really a 2.

An hour long.... Bad start with first track 2 interludes in first 3 tracks.... And then fall in a river... I'm wondering if they forgot to edit this album before releasing I don't like this at all. Like a lot of 00s artists, Too vanilla for me and could easily have called it the 37mins of bewilderbeast Pretentious in my opinion with all the boring instrumental stuff and interludes. Just my opinion. Overall boring

could put me to sleep, but not in a good way

Some of the instrumental parts were ok but I wanted more from his melodys. Also didn’t like some of the lead guitar.

Look, I can admit that I was wrong to assume some kind of twee British project. I can grant that the headache-inducing sections - unnecessary as they are after the first! - are marginally interesting. I even hummed a melodic line or two to myself after finishing the Hour; Not all of its songs are grating. But I can't forgive the cumulative effect, that of utter early-millennium critic bait. Honestly would feel better about the album if the cover weren't such an abomination.

This guy is a dick. Worst concert I have ever been to. He got visibly drunk and couldn't play his songs, then berated the venue staff AND the audience for his terrible performance. Low class jackass. I have never been able to enjoy him since.

This needs to be removed from the list.

Track 1 “the shining” - really enjoy cadence of vocals and melody Track 2 “everybody stalking” - faster more upbeat despite the name Track 4 “fall in a river” - weak, but the outro is pretty cool.
