Reviews (page 14 of 14)

Not my cup of tea. Really liked Starman and It Ain't Easy.

Starman y rock n roll suicide mis favoritas. Creo me gusta más su voz en canciones más tranquilas

Was okay but not memorable

kijk het is een klassiek album maar ik ben niet echt een bowie fan.. het is niet mijn stijl en dit was echt best kinda saai

Among his peers, he is a legend, but I don’t like one song on this album. I would rather listen to the labyrinth soundtrack, which I’m sure is not his best work.

The sound was nice. The arrangement and sound of each track was great. I didn’t really enjoy the vocals. I couldn’t tell that it was a story if I didn’t know.

I skipped some songs and got bored overall.

I rated this a 4/10 I did enjoy some song not that much noting stuck to me

I think I only like starman

The playing on this album is excellent and some of the songs have stood the test of time. However the screeching vocals have not. Starman aside im not sure there is much here.

Easily Bowie’s most overrated album and period. The great stuff came later.

1. five - 1 2. zoul - 2 3. moon - 3 4. ztar -2 5. eazy - 1 6. duzt - 1 7. ztar -1 8. hang - 1 9. ziggy - 2 10. city - 1 11. zuicide - 2

Y cuando pienso que no está tan mal, boom, tema que odio. Esta página hizo que me dé cuenta: creo que odio a Bowie? Que me juzgue la historia.

Really liked the first four (especially the first one), but after that the sounds became kind of repetitive and I couldn't enjoy it the same way. Tried to give it a few more listens but it didn't resonate with me

I don’t think I like David Bowie.

Strange album by a strange dude. “Labyrinth” makes more sense now.

tamanho de nome é esse FAVS (top 3): soul love, it aint easy, star mençoes honrosas: moonage daydream, ziggy stardust, suffragette city, rock n roll suicide entao ta bom ne nada de extraordinario nota final: 2/5

so underwhelming, but i'm never going to like a rock opera ever. i agree with all of the early reviews of this album that call it odd and indulgent but david bowie had so many tricks up his sleeve that i can't get mad. you sit through this so you can get let's dance obviously

Альбом непоганий, але трохи не для мене, є щось в ньому, слова непогані, і подобається що є конкретний сюжет, але він мене не зачепив, вокал не сильний і музика також, можливо в театральній версії було б краще

Eh. Overhyped. Like I get why this was a hit, but it’s not Bowie at his best nor does it really feel like a rock opera—or all that spacey.

2 o 3 canciones me gustaron

nicht wirklich meins

Starman is the only good song so far, uh I question the background sounds. Maroon 5 needs to collab. Not my cup of tea bro but iconic for its time.

Naja scheint ja absoluter Peak Konsens klarster 5er der Musikgeschichte oder zumindest hier auf 1001 zu sein, inzwischen das wievielte vierte? Album von Bowie, wenns alle so toll finden muss ich ja auch, evtl sein bestes Album/schwächstes cover, i dunno, halt immer diese Rocky Horror Picture light vibes, ok i turned out to be gay boomer. c

man, i am just not a david bowie fan. starman, and lady stardust were fine, but overall this album just didn't do much for me. safe to say, i dont think Bowie is going to be a top artist of mine.

The music was very nice and lively, but the singing didn’t really draw me in like that, the song I liked most was Starman, but idk if I’ll add that to my list

Not really for me but Starman is a classic

1 good song

My brain hurts a lot. Just kididng. It’s a fine album, although I don't think it's anything noteworthy as a whole. Starman and Sufragette City are both great though.

Bowie’s not for me

starman is an okay song but this whole album is so overrated

It's no laughing gnome

I think the best thing to come out of this album is this pizza place I went to in Phoenix once. It was called Ziggy's but then you go through the cooler in the back and you're in a pinball bar called Stardust. Coincidentally, also the second best thing to come out of Phoenix, AZ. The first best thing is Stevie Nicks because her music is actually good.

I had no idea this album was about Bowie’s alter ego! I could picture the scenes in my head. The rise and fall of Ziggy Stardust made for good listening.

Pretty good Bowie album, still not really a fan

I feel like Bowie is hit and miss for me. So far “Five years” is really grabbing me. I wonder if the sounds are intentional or limitations of what the technology could do at that time. It’s sounds think and weak and like it was poorly recorded. The feel is there and the vibe is there, but some of the sounds put me off. Moonage Daydream and Starman left me flat. “It ain’t easy” is better. “Soul love” is a great tune. Two songs in and I feel like I might be getting the Bowie hype. This is pretty amazing stuff so far. And I think the sounds on the first song were intentional. These sounds are “smoother” is the best way to put it. Enjoying Lady stardust. There are moments I enjoy, but I really think I’m not a Bowie guy. Ok. Now I’m to the “hits”. Maybe I’ve just heard this stuff too much?

I really dislike Bowie’s voice. I like it when he’s doing the “Bowie thing” and kinda sounding a little nasally but otherwise it sounds like he’s screaming into the mic un-melodically. I love the writing of these songs but I can’t get over the vocals. Starman is phenomenal of course but the first three didn’t leave any lasting impression. It ain’t easy is good too! Ziggy stardust is famous but I’m not the biggest fan of. The lyrics are weird and it’s not really super fun to listen to. Suffragette City on the other hand is a straight banger. The rest of the songs weren’t memorable. Honestly makes sense why the songs that I know are the ones I do, the others just aren’t super memorable.

41/1001. Own? Yes. Do I love it? No. I guess I have been buying Bowie albums since every good record collector and music appreciator does. But besides some good songs they are quite a drag to listen to, and this album is one example. I don't know how this repeatedly gets picked to top 100, 50 or even 10 lists, just because of Starman? The playing is lazy, the drummer sounds like he is almost late, the story is sas stupid as Bowies interest in pantomime... for me the highlight this time was It ain't easy - and that turned out to be a cover song. IMHO Bowie is way overrated.

Flera klassiker, vissa ljusglimtar men är tyvärr allergisk mot hela viben. Förlåt, världen.

Simple, of its time, not particularly stunning on first listen. Grand like, wouldn’t be desperate to listen again

A well known Bowie album and a seismic departure in concept but, aside from a few tracks, it feels like a drone to me.

Une étoile pour Romain, une pour starman

I can listen to these songs. Ziggy Stardust would be fun to play on guitar.

2 because of Ziggy and Sufferagette

Good album but not for me

Better than the other, but I will not be returning to it

Kind of boring actually. I feel like there's better work from David Bowie that isn't this middle-of-the-road boring generic music. The best song on here was Five Years - it built up nicely, but still a B-list song. Having listened to this did help me find some other stuff which was better - Tin Machine amongst them. 2/5 stars.

Meh. Carried by Suffragette City

i liked it! moonage dream is fun oh god he's fascist? and groomed oh man

It was pretty cool. Felt a bit boring to me. His voice and production is good but it was missing some kinda kick, so it felt like the songs blended together. Might need to relisten eventually.

Only like Soul Love. Not wild about other tracks

Man can be write a chorus…but everything else leaves me cold.

Not a fan except an occasional karaoke stint with Starman 🎤

Listened. Was kinda decent. Not really my genre but I'll revisit it a few more times to see.

No me encanta. 4/10

I learned to play Ziggy Stardust on guitar when I was a teenager and I thought it was really cool with all this talk of spiders and crazy stuff. This is my first listen through the actual album and I was surprised to find I didn't really like it. Rating: 2

Bowie bowie and more bowie. The best of the Bowie albums, but still bowie.

I think this is my 32nd Bowie album. I knew a couple of the songs (Ziggy, Suffragette) and the rest sounded very similar. To me, his albums from the 70s all sound the same. It’s an ok album.

Unpopular opinion: Bowie just doesn’t do it for me. Especially an entire album.

I just don’t get the David Bowie love. This was strange, and nothing really jumped out to me as really good. Star man was the best track, but wouldn’t seek it out.

Good album. Iconic singer.

I do not like David Bowie

Never understood the hype around Bowie. Nothing on this album helped me see the light. Very meh.

yeah its alright i guess

Not my taste, and not his best work.

So bland please no more David Bowie albums.

Maybe stop giving me Bowie albums. 2/5

Very boring and empty sounding overall other than like 2 or 3 songs

Noteable album for Bowie

Apologies in advance, but I just don't get it with Bowie. I've tried, and tried again. And again, with this album. Not for me.

I can recognise it's a masterpiece but I just don't like it

I really don't like Bowie's voice and the songs are just meh, with the obvious exceptions of Ziggy Stardust and Suffragette City. Hard to believe this album is so beloved.

for me, a bit too nervous

Not my favorite Bowie ever but Starman is a standout. This is more of the pure rock side of Bowie I feel like

i’m not a big bowie fan so gonna skip . i don’t skip a lot ok don’t judge me! going for a 2star

Two in a row, I mean come on man. I think each album gets worse than the previous. I just find it hard to get behind a whole album about an alien rock star trying to save the planet.

I'm not really a fan of concept albums or of Bowie's voice so no surprise that I just didn't care for this at all. 2 due to the music (otherwise would be a 1.5)

I really wanted to enjoy this album, but I just didn't.

For a David Bowie album, it was pretty decent. I'm sure it goes into a whole story that I was unable to truly appreciate due to listening to it at work, but from a musicality standpoint, it wasn't a bad listen.

Why do people like Bowie he's pretty mid 3 stars

One thing I can say about Bowie - he was amazingly consistent at writing either really great songs or comically shitty songs. I knew three songs from this album coming in…Starman, Ziggy Stardust, and Suffragette City. The first two are great, the third well let’s just say I’d rather listen to two cats f&@#ing in the alley. As for the rest of the album, well I guess I’ve come to the realization that I just don’t like Bowie much. Also, this doesn’t seem to connect together very well for what I always thought was supposed to be a concept album of sorts?

I understand the significance of this album, but I personally don't like it and have no urge to really listen to it again.

I honestly didn't like it at all.

I could tolerate it for 2 tracks

Not particularly a fan.

Started off poor with 5 years and needed to stop screeching. Couple of classics on there. Won’t be relistening.

It was fine, couldn't get into it. 2/5

Neanderthal here. No idea why this album, or Bowie for that matter, is treated with such reverence. The music isn't that great and the voice is strained and sometimes all over the place.

Interesting album. I especially liked the concept behind it and the story that Bowie was able to tell. However, there were a lot of songs that I wasn't too fond of, or at least don't see myself revisiting. Overall, I can see how this album was very impressive, but it just didn't age well. Some of the songs I did like was Five Years, Starman, and Star.

Meni työmatkalla lähes huomaamatta ohi. Starmanin lisäksi ei tainnut olla mitään mainittavan arvoista joten ei kovinkaan kummoinen kokonaisuus.

Can’t get behind this guy. If you like musicals then this for you

I appreciate Bowie’s creativity. I want to like him better….

I've never really got Bowie or understood the hype. I've never really been into prog rock though so makes sense I'm not into prog pop

only redeeming quality was that it was short

i do not like his voice

Ah Bowie, both amazing and ridiculous. Similar to other great artists like Zappa, he makes some really good music that is sometimes too weird to enjoy.

Five Bowie albums in and I can officially confirm - David Bowie is just not for me. And I think glam in general is not really my thing. I actually think "Moonage Daydream" is great, but almost nothing else on "Ziggy Stardust" works for me. "Suffragette City" is good, but it's also the third example in the last four albums with a song that I know much better (and prefer) in a cover version. Alas, five albums in doesn't mean we are at the end. Bowie still has three more to come on a list that seems to love his every iteration.

Bowie just not for me

I don't like Bowie.

Well, it's David Bowie so it's already at a loss! He was a better actor than a musician and he was a shite actor. While this album isn't 'terrible' as the songs are well structured, they have a good feel and sound to them, unfortunately, you still have to hear David Bowie try and sing.

I do enjoy Starman but other than that the rest was just alright. I think I'm missing something with the David Bowie love. Really just not for me I guess

I liked the songs I already knew, but not much else.

Only two tracks really stick out for me, the timeless 'Starman' and 'Suffragette City'. The rest is ok-ish but sometimes the arrangements plod or outstay their welcome. I own this on CD and rarely play it and a listen today has sadly reminded me why.

Only liked Suffragette city….

It's not a popular opinion, but I reckon I could happily live my life without Bowie's music. There's a couple of decent tracks on this album - literally a couple - in Starman and Ziggy Stardust. Five years is an absolute chore and almost had me skipping. I understand his influence and his talent, but his music just isn't for me. Not actively unpleasant (Five years excepting) but by no means something I'll go out of my way to listen to again.

This story felt like it needed to be a longer album. I liked it and some of the songs I listen to every now and then.

Opening track is not the way to turn me onto Bowie Starman is good Has a palette and pace I do not enjoy Suffragette City is good

Bit all over the place, recued by ziggy stardust and suffragette city

I know Bowie is cool but I remain ignorant

Nice album, good listening.

Not my cup of tea lol

High energy. Key songs: Starman, Ziggy Stardust, Suffragete City

I realise I don't like Bowie

More noncing. This time 1970s noncing. Stop sending me Bowie please. Favourite track: nope

Music composing was good.... but, not my type :(

it is an honor, of a sort, to be the most overrated artist on a list that includes so much of The Beatles and Bob Dylan On paper Bowie should work for me and I’m actively trying to change my own mind but with every listen I like it less. Why do I hate this when I otherwise love this kind of oddity, bands with singers who can’t really sing, concept albums, androgyny, convoluted backgrounds, etc? Bugs me to no end that I can’t sort this out.

It's a really boring album. He didn't sing well.

I did not gaff but ill give this album a shot later first tracks didnt hook

this ass😭✌️

langweilig

sht albunm

So whiny

Everything sounds the same and I don’t like the sound. Never been a Bowie fan tho.

HATE BOWIE

I would love to love this, but it just doesn’t resonate heavily with me.

Very underwhelming. Did not have the patience to listen to the whole thing first time round. Then I gathered the patience and braved it, and I genuinely do not understand what the fuss is about. Quite generic, didn't make me feel or think anything. 'Starman' is a pretty good song, but I knew that prior to listening to the album. Perhaps it's just not for me, but I feel it's massively overrated

Bowie is the most boring artist. The world is fooled and only I can see the truth...this music sucks

Tired of Bowie

Trash. Absolute trash And you are telling me 9 savid bowie albums needed to be on this list. Come on guys dont be bias and actually like good music not just a fucking name We know its meant ti be a 0star

Difficult to listen to. Title track is ok.

DNF. I want to like Bowie so badly but I just can’t. I don’t get it. I just find it boring. I liked starman or whatever the famous one is. But I didn’t finish the album.

Bowie=bad

The opening bar to moonage daydream and all of suffragette city were enjoyable. The rest I have already forgotten.

Awful. Terrible production. Bad singing. Thin sound. Suffragette city and it ain’t easy were the only tolerable songs on the album. No surprise that one was written for someone else and one was written by someone else. Bowie’s singing is elementary school play levels of bad. I put on Bat out of Hell immediately after this to cleanse this tinny sounding trash out of my brain. Cant say enough bad things about it.

Unenjoyable for me, too chaotic

Too much Bowie.

Please no more Bowie

Warum soviel David Bowie????

“Maybe I might like Bowie” *Listens to this album* “No, he sucks.”

naggghhhhhh

absolutnie nie moje klimatym, angole sa dziwni

Ya escuché

Better visually.

Just OK for its time.

Not my cup of tea. Bowie's voice is so annoying.

Not for me 😔

Was looking forward to Bowie and didn’t like any of it

I'll give it a 1 or 2. I skimmed some of it. It all sounds like David Bowie. The fast upbeat ones are the worst. One sounded like a bad mix of Sex Pistols and I dunno what.. something bad. Can't stand his voice ... Goes right through me. Sorry. He's definitely on my top 10 dislikes lol.

didn’t really care for it tbh

Garbage
