Reviews (page 5 of 15)

One of my most listened to albums of all time

Wonderwall, Don‘t Look Back In Anger, Champagne Supernova, Morning Glory. Gute Hitdichte.

Oasis… I owe you an apology. I wasn’t familiar with your game.

An incredible album, hugely influential in developing my love of music. Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Cast No Shadow, Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova fuck yeah.

some chill some nice all gas

Under the bridge

Tons of great stuff here. Nostalgia probably playing a big role but I don't care. This is a band just dominating the popular culture. Amazing sing-along melodies, electric (albeit simple pentatonic) guitar work, solid rhythm section, exciting personalities... prob just squeaks out a 5 for me

There's a reason oasis is one of the greata and this album proves it.

I remember when this album came out almost 30 years ago and critics were calling Oasis the next Beatles. I can see why. This album has a number of tracks with skiffle chords and sunny melodies and lovely harmonies. What’s different is that they have the dynamic range of the Manchester City teams of the 2010s. Just full on relentless intensity, singing every song with a swagger and a volume that never waivers except as each tune drifts away at the end. There are not very many misses on this album, and even hearing it again after so many decades it still stands up. I’ll give it a five it’s more like a 4.7 only because a couple of tracks are rushed, but the hits are powerful.

Amazing Album. Great vibe!

5/5 Solid album

relisten. not to come out as an Oasis fan but I do love this album a lot. it truly captures the 90s britpop spirit to the fullest. its one of those records that make me nostalgic for something ive never experienced, places ive never been to and people ive never met. I still think Oasis used to make the same song over and over again but that one time it really worked.

Fantastic record. Childhood soundtrack and sounds so good still.

triste ne

Absolutely era defining. Nearly 30 years on and this album is just as relevant now as it was then. Every single song still an absolute banger, and not many albums can boast that since the 80s.

I totally missed out on the Madchester scene. Saddens me. Oh to go back, to relive those days, the 90s, and not fuck it all up.

Really good

I knew this was gonna be a 5 when it popped up, re-listened anyway. I listened to this shi as a baby. Certified creamer of an album, good length, every track hits, ordering works well too. Adele, take notes, being British and making a 'pop' album ain't it. Britpop was the kind of pop the world wants from the UK (also grime)

Absolute wonder! This album makes me so happy! It is an easy listen, makes you want to sing along! Great album! ❤️❤️❤️

unpopular opinion but I love this album. has some really good songs on it.

One of the best Brit pop rock albums. Ionic

Oasis was "the Beatles for the 90s" - as a British band that made great pop songs that become international hits. Morning Glory is the bands second album, and the one that made the band into one of the biggest bands of the decade. Oasis makes melodic, edgy pop songs, like their hit "Wonderwall," and this album is full of great tracks that helped define the sound of 90s pop music.

A f*cking classic.

eins der schönsten Britpops der 1990er

Well it's a classic for a reason. I liked some songs before listening to it

This album is the defenition of Britpop, a great album by Oasis, following their sucess with their first album, they done it again, just better in any forms. The album strat with Hello wich fake strat with Wonderall and then fade away and became the real song, pretty funny. Roll With It is a harder sounding song, with catchy chorus and destined for stadium rock, the song launch the Battle of Britpop with Blur. Then one of the greatest song of the 90's start to play, an accoutsrtic riff and a vereses that literally anybody knows, and i mean it. Probably on of the most beautifful song known to man, about relashopship between Noel And Liam. Speaking of him Liam did probaly one of his best vocal performances. That song is the reason why so many peopke know Oasis, and its so easy to understand why, Catchy lyrics and riff, beautifull melody and literaly magical vibe to it. Don't Look Back in Anger is maybe the Most Oasis-like song of Oasis, following step by step the Noel Gallagher recepe, Sleaxy guitare sound, powerfull and catchy chorus (i think he really surpassed himself). Plus Noel himself sing the song, and i think he nailed it, he voice might not be as recognisablke as Liam's but it is still a very beautifull voice. The solo on the song is my personal favorite of Oasis. The song is inspired by a John Lenon tape that Noel aquire further showing their respect and admiration for the Beatles. Hey Now! is pretty good, a but of a down compared to the three last song, but still, very decent rock song. Some might Say open with a riff that seem to alude with Get It On (the riff that they borrow also for Cigarettes and Alchool). With hopefull lyrics, and distored riff but very melodic the song is another classical Oasis song, very good. Cast No shadow is a tribute to their friend Verve lead singer Richard Ashcroft, the song have as always very cool and beautifull melodies. She's electric have a very 60's like sounds, almost like a Beatles (like in Abbey Road) or a Kink song, as always very ngood and catchy. Morning Glory lyrics refer both to cocaine and the Beatles wich is pretty cool, have on of the hardest riff on the album, but still a incredible chorus and Liam Kill it again. The album Close with Champagne Supernova, a psychedelic ballad, about love drugs and nothing very clear, but it really mesmeried us, so beautifull what a wonderfull way to close the album. The guiatre here is perfect nothing else to say, the lyrics dind't seem to mean nothing but it ok 'cause its Oasis. I felt a but repetitive in the way i describe the song, but they are pretty much diffreent in the music but yet very similar in the meaning or the structure, i could be a flaw but Oasis have make this their signature so i don't mind it. So much classic and good song on the album, no wonder why it was so sucessfull, more than 20 millions sales, in my mind there is no doubt who won the battle of Britpop.

Unreal. Every track is legendary status

An endurable classic. always sounds as good as the first day you heard it

I was thrilled to get this album today after a really rough day.

Listening to this made me realize I was introduced to Oasis first via satire (an old SNL sketch), not to mention various parodies and jokes that poke fun at the band. But just focusing on the music, I was really blown away, despite having heard so many singles before.

OK, I may not care for the Gallagher brothers' antics or the band's later albums, but this one is undoubtedly a banger. Coming up with "Wonderwall," "Don't Look Back in Anger," AND "Champagne Supernova" for one album is nothing short of impressive, and the album as a whole is such a breeze. Five stars for giving us one of the best group karaoke songs of all time.

One of the all time greats. Timeless and pure. Noel Gallaghers writing is just absolutely incredible. Liam is a wanker

Brilliant. Their best album by far. It was all downhill after this peak.

I know this album very well, and really enjoy the songs I listened to. I was gearing up to have to listen to Wonderwall again, but once it came on I just enjoyed it as a good song. The phase of listening to being held captive by people play Wonderwall on an acoustic guitar is over and nature is healing, so I can enjoy the song again. That being said, even if I had the reaction I expected to Wonderwall, there are plenty of other songs on this album that would have made it worth it. Ending the album with Champagne Supernova was a strong choice.

I still remember the hype when this album dropped. It had already been building for a while, with the first album and concerts starting to make waves, but this was massive when it was released. It's actually held up pretty well, sounding more like a greatest hits album than anything. I mean there's literally not a single bit of filler here, just back to back bangers. Yes, it might sound like the Beatles mixed with the Stone Roses, but it would be rude to not give it 5 stars - very much the high tide for Oasis.

There ain't a single song even slipping into mediocrity here, thats to say - each track is straight fire. Summer Memories of my Dad blasting this one through the windows while I rode my bike up and down the street. A total classic, and my preferred over Definitely Maybe.

Great album! This one definitely was a banger from the 90s that I feel like everybody in my junior high loved. It aged great and I think that it sounds just as good now as it did then 5/5.

A classic, anthemic banger after banger, they caught lightning in a bottle with this one.

Bekannte 90er Brit-Pop Songs 5/5

The Gallagher brothers obsess over the Beatles, shamelessly rip the Beatles off, make a perfect album. Sometimes it really is that simple.

Favourite song - Cast no shadow

i know three oasis songs: wonderwall, don’t look back in anger (DLBIA) and champagne supernova, and they’re all on this album. Wonderwall & DLBIA are the 3rd and 4th songs on the album too so i get a lot of good up top and then the rest is still a mystery this album slapped. i get it. 5/5 album from the gallaghers.

Sejt nok album.

Simplesmente excelente!

I know this album like the back of my hand and love everything about it. I will say that it's probably best that Liam went bananas as I think his nasally delivery expired after this album and I'm not sure how Noel's songwriting fell off after this--maybe he got bored? But this album and Definitely Maybe are wall to wall perfect.

I can't not give this album 5 stars - a seminal album from my childhood and the album that I know the best of any that we've listened to. I love the dissolve from the title track to champagne supernova. Roll with it, dont look back in anger, hello, cast no shadow, she's electric, and oh yeah, wonderwall. Just love it too pieces.

A perfect album with an all time run of songs to open the album. As overplayed as Wonderwall is, I still find it to be so beautiful. Champagne Supernova is a great closer.

As I mentioned before, I'm more of a Blur fan than Oasis, but if I have to be honest, this album is the peak 90s and absolute top of the britpop era. The number of times I have heard random people playing "Wonderwall" in hostels make it the most hated song ever in my book, and that says something about the fame of this record. Just a bit too good.

This was Oasis' peak - nothing subsequent to this was in the same class. Some genuine bangers here, even though they wear their influences on their sleeves (and some "influences" are straight lifts). Carried by Liam's charisma.

I said MAYBEEEEEEEE Class album from start to finish, not much else to be said here. You're gonna be the one that saves MEEEEE

Really enjoyed this one, it's a great record. At least half of the songs are straight up bangers, or at least great tracks. Gets a tiny bit bland after a while on some rare occasions, so normally I'd probably not give 5 here, but there is so much garbage on this list, that I feel like I have to give 5 stars for albums like this.

Absolutely impossible to be objective about the first album I fell in love with 15 years old. Listening to this on repeat. Perfect

Every single song on this album has been played to death and I still like most of them. Has to be a 5.

Really nice album to listen to, especially the more known ones, such as champagne supernova, Wonderwall, Morning glory, Dont look back in anger. Never listened to the full album, but will def relisten

Classic

I forget how much I actually like this album until I hear it again, and quickly remember that I love it, actually. Beatles pastiche and all. Highlights: Roll With It, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger, Some Might Say, Cast Now Shadow, She's Electric, Morning Glory, Champagne Supernova

This was such a massive record and interestingly seems to stand the test of time. Some of the balladry, orchestral and string arrangements as well as the helicopter sounds are a bit borderline pompous but Oasis manages to carry it off

Very evocative of a 1970s childhood, with musical borrowings from eg Gary Glitter, the theme tune of Whatever Happened to The Likely Lads and educational kid’s show You and Me. The last one I can’t stop mansplaining whenever She’s Electric comes on the radio. No Way Sis’s parody ‘I’d Like to Teach The World To Sing’ really nails what Oasis are about.

WHATS THE STORY MORNING GLORY!!!

My local band…during the defining time of my life…. Classic - A side flow then interlud then b side flow! The melodies/riffs for the songs are what makes them… i mean … some might say bridge!

This today and ‘Different Class’ yesterday! On a roll (with it). This was the first album to ‘get me into popular music’. From when I was about 10 to 14, I rarely switched on music. I had no specific taste in music but did not really enjoy the sound of ‘hits’ either. I loved (and still love) classical music, but I didn’t listen to pop. Until I developed a crush! His favourite song was ‘Wonderwall’. So I went home and I listened to this album. On repeat. For the whole summer. And then I moved on to ‘Definitely Maybe’. And then I kept moving… Thus, this album has a very special place in my heart. I don’t enjoy it nearly as much as I used to, but I’m glad it exists and still put it on from time to time. I don’t like their (ironic in my case) homophobia (none present on the album, but it has shone through in some interview comments). Blur is still my favourite band. I also refuse to stream ‘Hello’ because Gary Glitter still receives a lot of profit from it. Excellent song though! 10/10.

Excellent choice, by far one of the best ones. Been loving oasis since so long . Oasis my religion

bosh. no misses.

Think Oasis were just overplayed back in the day for me that I just ended up pretty much hating them... but honestly felt good just hearing them again for the first time in a long time and getting some of the feelings in general back from then good ol' days!

Quelle est l'histoire

great classic - everybody should know this one...

Iconic Album, classic

Good album, liked it

Already listened, biblical album.

Another great album and band from the 90’s!

Ah ok I get it, its the Beatles but 90's. Listen I'm sure this was sick at the time but I really think the value on these guys is just scarcity value. I'm bailing out at the end of disc 1. There's 4 discs and I'm just not gonna dig for gold on this one. From what I'm reading they pioneered whatever genre this is (alt rock?) but its like, "I understand what the kids are doing and I support it but I will not be putting my mattress on the floor any time soon."

I always stand by the notion that Oasis’s debut album was their greatest offering but after listening to this for the first time in more than 20 years although I still stand by my earlier principles I cannot deny that this is an absolute cracker of an album.

Großartig

This is such a well crafted album. The songs are great and the album itself is really well done

Some crunching guitar rock. Another album I never intentionally listened to straight through before now.

Like a train coming, very good. Enjoyed the whole album

First album I have ever bought. Still good after almost 30 years.

One of my all time favourite albums, not a single bad song on this one

Maybe the peak of Britpop. Biggest album with the most crossover appeal. Still holds up to this day. Banger after banger.

Loved it very much! Silly guys!

I liked their other songs about as much as the hits. Solid songwriting.

Wow, don't know how many times i heard Wonderwall when i was in uni in the uk. Can forget those days.

The bset album by the best band in the world. №1.

This album still slaps, even all these years later. Timeless. Sorry not sorry, but Oasis crushed Blur in the Brit Pop competition.

Discazo.

Phenomenal album. Banger after banger. Takes me back...

Pretty solid, classic 90s britpop.

Tired of pretending like I don't love this album. 5/5

Will it be a 4 or 5 is the question? I *know* it’s a good album, but I haven’t listened in a long time. Nostalgically, it’s a 5. But in reality is it a 4 with a couple all-time bangers? Because Wonderwall is fucking *gooood*, man. It is potentially the anthem of my generation - and I say that as a certified hip-hop head. Wonderwall is nearly perfect. Don't Look Back in Anger. My god, what a song. Morning Glory is the underrated banger of the album. Then, when you think you're winding down, they hit you with Champagne Supernova! What an album! It's probably a 4.5, to be honest, but man, it's an excellent CD that has sparked a long convo with a buddy about the best 90s music for a certain subset of our generation. The dopamine hit from the nostalgia is worth another half star, easy.

excellent. loses a star because they are Man City fans 4/5

"Daddy, what did you do in the Britpop Wars?" It was an epic time when this album came out. I had just started working as junior graphic designer at Smash Hits Magazine Australia, and hanging out in indie clubs being called a sellout. Never gave a toss really as music is music and this album was a belter! On a diet of cheap gin, cheaper champagne and stolen cigarettes, this and Great Escape were my soundtrack that southern hemisphere spring. A massive highlight was getting an advance cassette of Morning Glory and having a listening party at a friend's house, a dozen of us crammed in his tiny front room dissecting the album I got sick of it in the end and went a Long time not listening to Oasis. Still a belter of an album

Top Album

Noel basically wrote one song and they recorded it 12 different ways but its a banger so its alright

Hard not to give it 5 stars. So many classic songs and I'm not really a huge Oasis fan

I liked

Love this album! It reminds me of having my discman and headphones in the 1990s.

When this album was released, the little five year old version of me was obsessed with it and new all the words to every track. Unfortunately, that is when my coolness peaked and it’s all been downhill from there. Needless to say, I’m very familiar with this album. Songs I already knew: all of them Favourites: Champagne Supernova, She’s Electric Much like Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody, it’s hard to imagine a time before Wonderwall existed as it seems to have just always been there. Although a lot of amateur guitar players (myself included) have butchered the song, this along with every other track here is just so catchy, and so undeniably the sound of Oasis. Not sure I need to say this, but I really do love this album.

All time classic, brought me back to my teenage years !

I’m from Manchester I’ve listened to this before! 5 starts for my beloved - always great belting out these songs in a nightclub (especially 42s) xxxx Love the music

Wonderwall gets a lot of memes and some actual hate for being overplayed, but I will die on the hill that it only got so big because it's genuinely an all-time great song. The rest of this album is pretty close to that level, honestly. I found a few really good new songs besides the three hits I already knew. Highlights: Roll With It, Some Might Say, Morning Glory

Muy be muy be, wondewall y tal si si

first no questions asked 5 star album. something to compare others too. great across the board. an all-timer.

A true no-skips album with some of the most memorable songs of its era on it. I'm one of those who prefer it to Definitely Maybe by some distance and even the so-called filler songs are tunes I enjoy. Big big sound, epic highs, it's quality.

Upbeat & always puts me in a good mood!

10/10. One of my favourite albums of all time, every song in the playlist. Personal favourites: Cast No Shadow Champagne Supernova Don't Look Back In Anger Some Might Say She's Electric

The closest they ever got to the Beatles and it's fantastic!

Yeah, this is a prefect LP. Hands down, defines a generation in music

Great album

I loved this albumn!! Rich tones, delightful melodies and great lyrics. I’d forgotten that I’d heard them in the past and was Most Grateful to reconnect with their music!!

I had heard two of the songs that had some airplay time in the past and really liked them. I had heard the name oasis but didn’t connect them to those songs or to anything else. I absolutely loved this album and have added it to my listening tracks. I want to listen again to read the lyrics.

I used to listen to this album as loud as I could, several times a day. It was _my album_ for so long, and I know almost every note inside and out. And I'm still not tired of it. This is Oasis at their peak.

Excellent album. Highlights: Don't Look Back in Anger, Roll on, Wonderwall

One of the best albums of all time. Uni life in music form.

the other songs are better than wonderwall! and wonderwall is so great! very impressed

Love this album!

Kan ikke sige så meget. Et af mine yndlings albums

an instant classic. Love almost every songs

This whole album is so good it hurts, my favorite songs are: Wonderwall (obviously), Don't Look Back in Anger and She's Electric.

The answer to the question "What if The Beatles were a 90s band?" Honestly I love this album, jokes about Wonderwall and all.

Sublime. This album is just Britpop perfection, there isn't a single song on the whole album that I could think of a single way to improve. Its got great guitar, some more chill songs, some rockier songs, fantastic lyricism, and almost every song is a guaranteed floor filler. What's not to like?! 5/5

Best Songs: Most of them Listen Again: Already owned

Elsker dette albumet.

One of the defining albums of the 90's and the soundtrack of my coming of age.

Some filler but the great tracks are very great.

If the story of Oasis ended with (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, there probably wouldn't have been too many diminishing returns and overly gross heightened expectations surrounding what came afterwards and the on-going comically boiling pot of animosity that characterizes the relationship with the Brothers Gallagher wouldn't have surfaced. But, then again, that would have been pretty boring. (What's the Story) Morning Glory? sees Oasis approach the kind of rarefied heights that they often peered at and would never reach again, no matter how hard they tried. It was only right that Britain, and certain parts of the world, went mad for it during the mid to late 90s; for the often impressionistic, optimistic lyricism of Noel Gallagher and the earnest John Lydon-esque snarl of younger brother Liam Gallagher propped up the boastful attitude that suffused pride in not only themselves but of their country as well (whether that was the intention or not). The thirteen songs compiled here represents the other half of an ideal greatest hits collection, with room for novelties, short instrumental interludes and some of the greatest songs of the era. Regardless of how one feels about the band as a whole or its primary members as people, it cannot be denied that (What's the Story) Morning Glory? is a biblical achievement in 90s British rock. Anyway, here's Wonderwall....

Oh thats why theyre compared to the beatles

Great album, still sounds current despite it's age

Great album with some classic songs

They need to get back together already

Despite the meme’s around it, wonderwall is a great song and so is this album, which I have never listened to in full before now. The album contains no weak points, several all-time classics that I knew and enjoyed without being a particular fan of Oasis or the genre, and knows how to wrap it up before wearing out its welcome.

I’ve never regarded myself as an Oasis fan, but I think the greatness of this album is undeniable. I don’t know if I’d ever played the cd all the way through before, but I knew all of those songs (except for the two so-called Swamp tracks) because it dominated the airwaves so much. From the opening Hello (featuring a tribute to Gary Glitter 3 years before he got done for child porn), the hit tunes just keep coming. The only track I was always worried by was Champagne Supernova, featuring Paul Weller, which I thought was bloated (& I just didn’t like the title - a bit of a wank). Faves? Definitely the title track & I get to hear it every Friday morning in footy season, introducing Matthew Johns’s exceedingly irreverent & politically incorrect Morning Glory radio show ; Roll With It; Hey Now; She’s Electric (but I really fancy her mother - a bunch of lads indeed) and all the rest, really. Nearly 30 years on & it stands up well. I’d be here all day naming the influences, but there’s something very 60’s about a lot if these melodies. Love it.

A classic!!

Perfect album. Favourite album. GOAT. 10/10

So anyway, here's "Wonderwall". Perhaps because I am young enough to have missed this being ubiquitous for a period of time in it's heyday, it wasn't hard to come at it with a fresh look. Was not let down. It's mainstream rock that appeals to the masses without feeling too watered down. Standout is the closer, "Champagne Supernova" but start to finish it starts fast and doesn't slow down. No clunkers.

Favorite Track Don’t Look Back in Anger Wonderwall Champagne Supernova

Loved it!

Neben den Welthits Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger reihen sich Champange Supernova, She's Electric, Roll with it, Some Might Say oder Morning Glory in die Liste der Erfolge ein. Rating: 5/5

Instant classic, incredible album, have already listened to before, but never tires. Staple of Britpop, unbeaten? Maybe only by Blur… 5/5.

Bootiful

I felt like the third brother

THE quintessential Britpop album, and Oasis’ masterwork. Big singalong hooks, 60s-inflected guitars, and a smooth flow from one song to the next.

Classic, probably listened like 15 times by now lol

Been listening to this album since it released almost 30 years ago. A true classic in Brit pop and the pinnacle of what a functional Oasis could achieve. Although Wonderwall is now certainly played out and has become a meme in its own right, it still holds up as a classic of its time. The entire album is a masterclass in writing catching hook-driven music that leaves you tapping your toes and singing along. Standout tracks: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger Some Might Say, She's Electric, Champagne Supernova (Really though, the whole thing is worth a listen or several.)

Wonderwall!

I’m not sure how Oasis went from the derpy shite of their first album to the Britpop Beatles capturing lightning in a bottle. I’m convinced they met the devil at the crossroads for a one album deal.

What an album. A classic. The problem with listening to albums like this is you listen as your 20 year old self. Memories of spending time with your girlfriend listening to Oasis the first time round. So easy to listen and letting the memories cloud your review and judgement almost 30 years later. However.... None of that applies. This album is as fresh and amazing today as it was when listening in the girlfriends bedroom as a young lad with a different outlook on life. The album brings together so many influences yet is so unique in its sound. T-Rex, The Sex Pistols, Slade and of course the Beatles bubble under every song but above this is the Oasis sound. Great proper rock with Liams voice growling alongside (for the majority). Pure bliss. It would be so easy to pick the obvious 'Wonderwall' as the standout track but for me the highlights are 'Some Might Say' and 'Champagne Supanova'

Pretty good! Catchy, totally a listen-thru album

The 90s in one record. Bloody love it.

The best Oasis album

- Heard this many times before - It's basically like a greatest hits record, some of the best Britpop songs back to back on this - I think I still prefer Definitely Maybe, but after listening to this again it's a lot closer than I thought - Didn't think I'd be going 5* before listening today, but I can't give it anything less - Fav songs: Don't Look Back in Anger, Some Might Say, She's Electric

I'll be honest that during the Britpop wars of the mid 90's I was cheering for the other team. But if there was a prize for who's music stood the test of time, it's definitely Oasis. Never was much of an Oasis fan, but separate the music of Oasis from the drama of Oasis and this makes this album a good listen. They are not The Beatles, but each song is a banger, and easily their best album.

Already familiar with this album. Every song is great.

The summer after this cave I was 14 or so and I was cutting a lot of grass. The next year I found out about metal. But this summer Oasis was king. I hadn't yet gotten high. But I assumed it sounded like this record.

I enjoyed this very much. This just feels like quintessential 90s alternative rock, some of the best of it anyway. I know the main hits were so overdone, but unlike a lot of hits that get overplayed I still like them.

Hitazo tras hitazo

Very good album - lots of recognizable hits, but the whole album is solid. Good dynamic between heavier and softer songs, good songwritting, and just well done overall. Anyway, here's Wonderwall.

Essential for guitarists

This is a favourite from my teen years. I never did choose if I was team Oasis or team Blur. I was happy to enjoy both.

Masterpiece

Pure nostalgia rating. But nothing gives me more satisfaction than singing screaming Don't look back in anger

didn't appreciate how good this album was in the nineties. All the thrash metal I listened to blunted the impact.

Favorite song: Don’t Look Back in Anger Worst song: Champagne Supernova One word: McCartney-esque

The guitars are obnoxiously loud, obnoxiously treble-y, and distorted to death for no evident reason. The lyrics are often faux-deep drivel. Liam Gallagher’s snide sneer of a singing voice is easy to get sick of. A lot of the songs are same-y. All this is true, and this album still kicks an insane amount of ass. Best song: Champagne Supernova

Dont Look Back in Anger and Champagne Supernova are some of the best rock anthems of all time. Its funny to me that Wonderwall gets so much press from this album. I can't think of any song I don't listen to on this album, although Cast No Shadow is weak. Oasis were just fantastic, chord driven song writers. Great melodies that you can sing all day. This is one of my more five star albums of all time.

Tons of bangers. Easy listen to over and over

Tweenage me had this CD but also had posters of Damon Albarn on the wall, so you can guess which side of the Blur/Oasis thing I was on. I was pretty sure it would be a 4*, but ended up listening to it three times in one day... so fine, have your five stars, Noel. What struck me most was I didn't know the Beatles that well back in the 90s, so didn't really understand when people were accusing Oasis of being derivative. Now I do get it; nevertheless this still sounds pretty fresh for a nearly 30 year old record. Shame it all went downhill quickly after this album.

Oldie but goldie!

know it so well...

Loved it.

One of my all-time favorites.

"What's the Story Morning Glory?" captures the essence of '90s British culture. Its influence and enduring popularity cement it as a seminal album in the annals of rock history. Whether you're an Oasis fan or not, this album is one demands a place in your music collection. It remains a quintessential record of the Britpop movement. From the iconic opening chords of "Hello" to "Champagne Supernova," this album is a journey. Standout tracks like "Wonderwall," "Don't Look Back in Anger," and "Some Might Say" have become classics, but even songs like "She's Electric" and "Cast No Shadow" deserve more credit than they are given. This album is a perfect balance of sincerity and bombast.

Round up from 4.5 stars to 5. (An album with a song with over 2 billion streams almost has to be at least 4 stars, even if the rest of the album was mediocre.)

I haven’t listened to this album since hearing it in my dads car in the 90s. It used to remind me of long journeys and feeling sick. I rejected oasis completely as a teenager as it just wasn’t fashionable to listen to them. Coming back to it now I have to accept it is a great album. They do wear their influences on their sleeve, and the lyrics are complete nonsense, but there is a certain magic about the album, and the choruses are huge.

one of my most favorite albums of all time.

Amazon my album beginning to end

To be honest, I dig this quite a lot. Must be reason I was a top listener of Oasis in 2020 (According to Spotify so does it really count?!)

I started the nineties aged 20 and the next decade was madness. American rock, grunge dominated the airwaves in the early part of the decade. Around 1992 a new scene started to emerge, guitar music with swagger and a very distinctive British feel. Oasis dropped their stunning debut in 94, and a year later they followed with this. WTSMG wasn't as strong as DM, but the mood of the nation was whipped into a frenzy by now. There was so much good music coming out of the UK at the time, we were on the crest of a generational wave and having the times of our lives. Nearly thirty years later and its possible to be more objective. If I had a scale out of 10 I'd give DM 10/10. WTSMG for me is a little off the pace, but I can't mark it down from 5 stars, but its a 9/10 for me.

Legendary

I'm just straight-up having a good time 😁

What can I say about this album? I was never really 'into' them and to be honest I don't like the brothers as people. Having said that this album has some massive massive songs and despite being played to death Wonderwall is a real anthem. This is an iconic album from the cover inward despite everything else that has happened since. You shouldn't deny greatness, whatever the form.

Good thing I didn’t miss this! Never listened to the whole album. Starts off not great but after wonderwall obviously gets way better

Classic init

Love it

I prefer definitely maybe, but this one probably had a bigger mainstream impact, the songs are now ingrained in U.K. culture. Huge album for the 90’s needs to be 5 stars.

An absolute classic. First listened to it over a decade ago when I was a teenager, and it gives a lot of nostalgia. Some absolute bangers on here, like Roll With It, Some Might Say, Don't Look Back in Anger, and obviously Wonderwall. Holds up a lot better than expected

Really strong album from start to finish with a bunch of hits, most notably in "Wonderwall". Really liked it, shame these brothers couldn't stick together because great music could've been made beyond this. 9/10.

Although I can't stand Oasis as a band, especially the Gallagher brothers, there's no denying that their music is brilliant.

It's very difficult to be objective about this album when you are my age, because it was the soundtrack of my youth. It's evocative of the nineties, of teenage years, school, underage drinking, TV.... It's all the songs that men sing in pubs. It's an album of 20th century folk songs. People will still be singing Wonderwall in fifty years' time. It still sounds great now and it will still sounds great in the future. A well deserved place on this list. Five stars.

5-stars because I don't want Liam to beat me up if he finds out I gave a lower rating. Also - great songs, real guitar, real drums, real rock star attitude.

The perfect amount of British. People can say they are just cut and pasting pastiches from the Beatles…but why aren’t more bands doing the same? Out of the three mega-classics on this, Wonderwall is by far the weakest. Don’t Look Back and Champagne Supernova are pop perfection, and I’m surprised I didn’t know Some Might Say before this. Loved it.

This might be one of the ‘90s best albums. Strong from top to bottom. Its britpops arguably finest hour. I didn’t for one moment consider skipping a single track on this absolutely excellent sophomore effort.

Very nostalgic, Ive only known the singles but it was really cool to listen to it front to back

hate to say it as a blur girly but this album slaps. but for what a hypocrite for saying "dont look back in anger" when all he did was... anger. but no this is one of the best british albums since the beatles, I said what I said.

Britpop! Our friends in the north (kijktip).

Makkelijke 5 sterren

Timely, this one. I just did a podcast on the rise and fall of Britpop, and of course Blur has a new album coming, as does Noel Gallagher himself. It may be unfashionable to say this, but this is an amazing album. Strip away the ego and hype and bullshit and you have a collection of truly beautiful songs. Noel never wrote better, Liam (and Noel on one) never sang better. Just love this.

awesome

i mean... it's a 90s classic, i can't not love it

Already know and love this album. A true classic of modern rock.

why no one likes my reviews

This album slaps. Yes I am incredibly white.

Put UK rock back on the map. Great album

Glorious album with several bangers. It grabs you from Hello to Champagne Supernova. This one, plus Definitely Maybe, show the finest of British rock from the 90s.

This one is a bit tricky to be honest. It has very high highs, but it also has some fairly low lows. Still, it basically contains all of the Oasis bangers on one CD, which is very impressive and can probably only be said about very few other albums. I've definitely grown tired of hearing the top hits of Oasis after having heard them what feels like a million times, but giving this anything other than a 5 would be unfair.

Another 90s britpop album. Wasn't looking forward in particular to listening to it but i found myself quickly enjoying it. Besides all the hits, "Wonderwall", "Don't Look Back in Anger" and "Champagne Supernova" the rest of the songs were good too. With the hits on one album i think this one has to be a 5. I only miss songbird.

5/5 I’ve listened to this a lot lately due to the Ryan Adams take on the album. I’d forgotten how great it was.

The best. Such a perfect album.

Ah, I miss the days when bands made albums like this. This is pretty perfect. Big, anthemic sound with elegant melodies, muscular guitars, and some of the catchiest, most engaging pop hooks ever put to record. There's also a lot of variety from track to track, which I really enjoy. This is an album that begs for repeated listenings and delivers every single time. Fave Songs (All songs, from most to least favorite): Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, Wonderwall, Some Might Say, Cast No Shadow, She's Electric, Hello, Hey Now!, Roll with It, Morning Glory, Untitled (Swamp Song 2), Untitled (Swamp Song 1)

Just had a good oasis album now I get the best oasis album. Morning Glory is one of the best 90s albums. Almost every song is well made and fun to listen to. It’s impossible not to at least nod along to wonderwall. It’s a bit poppy but it’s so well written. This album has my favorite oasis song, don’t look back in anger. There is a lot going right on this album. 8.8/10

A good album with a lot of Oasis best songs, if you like Oasis

Rock masterpiece of the 90s.

Such a seminal Brit-Rock Album. (What's The Story) Morning Glory has so many great hits on this and likely in the top 10 albums of the 90s. With their six released singles from the album, it's hard to deny they are all now classics with deep nostalgia attached to them... anyway, here's Wonderwall ... Best: Wonderwall Worst: The Swamp Song - Version 1 & 2

aw so much feeling, such an unpretentious attack at life. rejecting all self pity our little guffy manc protagonist noel realises we have one life, and for council listens to the only real source of truth available, the heart - and it says to him: lets be fucking aving ya x from sibelius to chuck berry music is fundamentally no more than the relationship between different chords. the effect they have on us is inexplicable and seemingly arbitrary. i do not know what well noel was drawing from when he wrote dont look back in anger, but i do not think it is a coincidence that it speaks to the heart in the way in which it was conceived, which is living by pure feeling and damning the rest. when i listen to roll with it for me in that moment it is the greatest thing ever cut on record. songs like 'hey jude' have a quality that makes whole stadiums sing - and that quality pervades about 70% of this record. it has been vindicated from critical snobbery by public opinion and will continue to do so for decades. when will we ever see a rock n roll group so indisputably great again? when will the mainstream press again acknowledge such a phenomena as knebworth 96? i do not know (for records i really quite like i am introducing a new system - i decree this record worthy of a badger emoji) 🦡

This is an absolutely great album. I wish that they could have gotten along. Oasis, heavily influenced by the Beatles, made outstanding music and could have gotten even better if they stuck around longer.

Simply excellent. Almost every song on here is a classic in its own right and while the Beatles influence is clear, the sound is Oasis’ own. One of the best albums made by brothers ever.

This has so many great singles and the non- singles are great too. Too bad they through away a promising career through being a bunch of wankers and making a train wreck of a follow up album (Don't Go Away was pretty good though)

Not the best Britpop band by a long shot (both Blur and Pulp blow them out of the water), but this is a great album full of enjoyable songs. ‘Wonderwall’ is the worst song on the album, though.

still a really good album start to finish

I'm just going to Rollllll with it and Takkeeee my timmeeeee with this review. Wonder wall, don't look back in anger, cast no shadow, champagne supernova, she's electric etc etc. Wow so many bangers, basically perfect from the Manc lads 👌

One of the best of all time. Classic album

I don't consider myself a huge Oasis fan, but I do love this album. A few tracks on here start to feel corny, but they're saved by a twist on an expected chorus or layers of instrumentation and harmonies. It bounces around between tracks like that, which were maybe attempts at radio hits, and tracks like Champagne and Don't Look Back that seem to come from a more real place. Around the time this album came out, I took a school trip to Austria and the flight back had a BBC radio loop as one of the maybe five channels you could listen to through the player in the armrest. Don't Look Back In Anger was on that playlist, and I believe it hadn't been released as a single in the US yet, and I didn't own the album so I'd never heard it. But I was obsessed with it.

A classic :)

Everyone knows the big tracks off this album but I've never taken the time to listen all the way through before. Can hear why Oasis has such a mass appeal throughout - Even the "deeper cuts" are very catchy.

Time to admit another bias: I've been given a lot of Britpop albums so far, and each time I get another Britpop album, I've just longed for this one. Today was finally my day (the day after my birthday, oddly enough). I absolutely love this album. Every track is just brilliant. This is the perfect album to pop on some headphones for, so that you can hear every little guitar strum and every drum hit. The instrumentation on this album is just so rich, that it's almost beyond words for me to describe. This is exactly what I want in a Britpop album: it sounds like The Beatles in a sense, but it also sounds like something completely removed from them as well (that might be the lamest thing I've ever written, but it was the best I could come up with). Liam's vocals are great, and Noel's vocals on "Don't Look Back in Anger" are superb as well. I wonder what could have been if those two could have managed to not be complete dickbags. I don't think I could pick a favorite track off of this album. It's genuinely a 'no skips' record, and one of my favorite albums from the 90's.

Great album. So many good songs.I’m not a huge oasis fan but can’t deny how good it is.

Ahh, the sounds of my teenage years.

Pretty damn good.

All my life I have lived in fear of my dad's deep hatred for Oasis ("all their songs just sound the same")... But teenage rebellion always finds a way to take a sledgehammer to your parent's hopes and dreams for you, and while at university I developed a secret, silent taste for Oasis - thanks to this album. I don't know how you can listen to Don't Look Back In Anger and not feel, like, something, anything. Lots of songs I love on this album, some I just like. Overall, great. Forgive me Father.

Bar the opener which is shite and excluding the swamp song 1&2 - this album is perfect

A 5⭐️ album with another 5⭐️ album on the b-sides. The 🐐 Regardless of what Neil McGaughey says, the big wally

This is the album from Oasis that I expected to be on the list of 1001 albums unlike the first one that's also on the list for some reason. (What's The Story) Morning Glory is an excellent album and outshines Oasis debut album. It got some timeless classics like Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger but the whole album is full of hits. Noel Gallagher's excellent writing combined with Liams distinctive singing really makes the record stand out from other bands. Everyone should give this one a listen.

Likely my most listened to and I’m pretty sure favourite album. I started listening to Oasis seriously at the end of high school, but really in university. This was also in 2004, once they had gone through several lineup changes and pop culture had more or less moved past them. I think it’s because I was so into the Beatles in high school that I eventually migrated to Oasis. I had a ton of memories come back today while listening, mostly playing this on my iPod on the city bus back and forth from university. In 2009 before graduating university I went on a month long trip to England and Scotland, mostly on a self administered Britpop tour. I actually had never seen Oasis live up to that point, so my first day landing in Scotland I had a ticket to see them in Edinburgh, with The Enemy, Reverend and the Makers and Kasabian opening for them. That solo trip now seems impossible I did without a smartphone, but I landed in Edinburg, I think walked to my hostel (some student dorms in the summer) and then took a bus not knowing where it was even going and I guess just expecting I would end up at the stadium? Maybe I just followed the crowds of drunk hooligans singing Oasis songs. After the show, I walked back to the hostel, again not knowing where the hell I was going and not recognizing any landmarks. How did I do that?! I had also been up for 36 hours between flight time. I remember trying to use my calling card to dial back to Canada to tell my parent I had arrived, and crying that I couldn’t figure out the card. To be in your 20s in a pre smartphone age. Anyways the show was amazing and they tore the place apart. Later when I was in London I took an afternoon to find the street this album shot was taken. Surprisingly not a lot of fanfare-there was one record store that had the Morning Glory record in their window. But compared to the current Abbey Road there’s nothing. Some Might Say is just perpetually underrated.

To me it is no longer quite as perfect as it was, some 25+ years on, but still an excellent example of 90's brit pop. Great Album

Just because I love this album and it's awesome does it deserve five stars? Doesn't seem to make any sense. You know what I mean?

Absolutely stellar. Both melodic and angry, with plenty of attitude. So many great songs on this album, start to finish.

No question, one of the Beatles best albums. Seriously though, I think I overplayed this album when it came out. I am a little tired of some of the songs here. But to me this is still undoubtedly a fantastic album. Hello and Morning Glory still have great energy. I think all the tracks are quite good at least, albeit maybe a tad too long for some. I don't entirely feel a 5, but I think this album deserves to be in the 5 star club. I endorse this album as one you should listen to before you die.

hey siri play wonderwall

Großartig!

So many good memories from this album. Wonderwall, Champagne Supernova and Don't Look Back in Anger still in high rotation.

Criss c'est bon! Pratiquement un greatest hits! Rien à redire, c'est juste parfait.

As a teenager I snubbed Oasis. Wonderwall was overplayed, the band didn't deserve all that attention, the music wasn't even that good. I'm glad I re-listened to this album later in life. And I've full come around. I like Definitely Maybe quite a bit, but this album is the best Oasis have released. Yes, Wonderwall is still being overplayed, but I can't really fault the band for writing a song that apparently resonated with so many people. And besides, songs like Hello, Roll With It, Don’t Look Back In Anger, Hey Now!, She’s Electric and Champagne Supernova are just amazing. Happy to have (re-)discovered it and have finally given it the time it deserved

The Gallagher brothers are absolute wankers but they sure could belt out some tunes.

Även de dåliga låtarna är bra

Este es un clasico.

Et av nittitallets bedte albumer.

this album is gonna be a great crazy ride. so many hits from one album. gotta love a whiny voice. this is definitely more of a sound that I like and want to hear. don't look back in anger is so good i just want to belt it out. all of these songs are so anthemic. guitar hero represent. i think every song on here is good. champagne supernova is maybe my fav. it's been my fav for a long time i think. everything on this is grand and cool. bands wish they could achieve this effortlessly cool sound.

One of albums I grew up on.

Being a British kid born in the late 90s to young parents, I certainly knew quite well of Oasis, and recognised most of the songs on this album. However there were a few songs on here that I didn't know so well. There may be some nostalgia speaking for me here, but I loved this album and every song, even the more overplayed (and potentially overrated) tracks like Wonderwall. Additionally, I personally believe that Champagne Supernova is one of the most beautiful rock songs ever made. Favourite: Champagne Supernova

One of my favorite albums. I'll acknowledge my bias as a child of the 90s and admit that it may not be as great as I think it is. There's a fair bit of nostalgia creeping in. Still - I've listened to this album hundreds of times and I still love every song on it. I let out an audible "Yes!" when I saw it pop up on my list. Objectively, I think it holds up as one of the best albums of the 90s. It epitomizes what that decade was.

Do anyway, here's....

Aquí n'hi ha dos, 'Wonderwall' i 'Don't Look Back in Anger'. Que l'altre combinava les melodies beatlenianes amb un rock corrossiu a 'Cigarettes and Alcohol', 'Rock and Roll Star' o 'Supersonic'? Aquí la inspiració creativa arriba a cotes més altes amb 'Some Might Say', 'She's Electric' o 'Champagne Supernova'.

- so this algorithm gave me Blur, Suede and Oasis... which obviously makes me to compare them. And that is not good news for Suede and Blur - I must say as much as I don't like Oasis as a band (pure judgement of characters) I need to judge them by their craft and talent, which is obviously superb. - Wonderwall, for some people overrated or overplayed, for me one of the unskippable ones, even covers, samples and jazz reeditions and shitty Superstar versions are good

Still writing, First day Of Ramadhan

I spent many nights laying on my best friend's floor gossiping about our transition to high school and summer camp changes while listening to this album. Once your adolescent heart has seen a boy with hockey hair play Wonderwall on an acoustic guitar by a campfire, what's left? I started listing favourites and realized it's 9/12, so it's easier to say swamp songs and cast no shadow resonate the least with me.

Such a shame that they went to shit after this. Amazing album

Klassiker, einfach gut.

I've listened to this album in the past.

UR MY WONDERWAAAAAALLLLL!!!

I was born in England in 1994 so needless to say, they’ve kinda been pushing this one on me ever since I had ears. But for all the time I’ve spent listening to it, and then trying not to listen to it, and then listening to it some more, I don’t think it’s ever really lost its particular (and singular, considering how they fell off afterwards) charm. There’s some tracks I love, there’s some tracks I like less than others, there’s times when all the inspirations click and they make great work, there’s times when the wall of sound and Liam singing out of his sinus bugs me. Yet, it’s all in the charm, the undeniable swagger of the thing like a perfect monument of Manchester and Britain in 1995, from saying hello to blowing up like a star in the course of an hour, and taking you on the journey with them. Just messed up I had to stay indoors listening to it, when it’s a sunny day and I should have been out in my bucket hat with a few cans and the lads talking about the footie.

Was long saved a lot of songs that sounded good, loved the vibes, especially Wonderwall its popular for a reason recommended.

This album is so good. It has a really recognisable vibe and all the songs fit well into the timbre soundscape. It also has some CLASSIC songs that have stood the test of time. I think my one thing that I would say is I wish there was a little more variety because sometimes the songs can blend together a bit but I don’t know if that’s just because it’s my first listen through as well

Pretty solid britpop album with one of the most infectious and overplayed songs ever. Keeps up good energy but gets a little lackluster after the first couple tracks. The vocals sometimes work for the songs, sometimes cut through in a less that ideal way that can be distracting. Overall entertaining enough to put on, but doesn't quite hit that final gear of total excellence. Top tracks: Wonderwall, Don't Look Back in Anger, Morning Glory

Svag fyra!

overplayed yet overhated

not a bad album. didn't think i was going to like it, but i did
