Reviews (page 7 of 8)
Fine album, good grooves, nothing too special
I'm inspired by the album art to just phone in this review. Please imagine I damned this album with very faint praise in some pithy 90's way.
This is so bland! I'm glad there's some lesser known stuff on here but it seems like I've listened to several bland rock albums by bands I've never heard of. I've said it before, but it's just taking up a spot something else could've taken. Especially all the non-western music this list is ignoring. I would prefer to listen to something weird or a different genre than stuff like this.
meh doet me beetje denken aan counting crows hoor het gezang nauwelijks door het geluid
Rating: 4/10 Some generic alt rock shit.
You know what, I’m in a bad mood and feel like taking it out on this album. Fuck this album, fuck all of its generic mediocrity. This is worse than the worst rated albums on this site, at least those are interesting. This is just run of the mill 90s alt without any heart. 1.7
A guy on vocals & guitar with a hired rhythm section. It’s not a band. It's not really bad but neither good. Won't relisten to this Power Pop.
This is average, run of the mill, mid-90s popish rock. If I had caught this act in a bar or as an opening act it would have been great. I do not understand why this would be on the list of 1001 albums you must listen to. You do not need to listen to this.
Generic 90s alternative rock
2 or 3 nice songs, but mostly generic and pointless. At least, it isn't a second Kid Rock album.
Bob Mould, it is fine 90's alt rock, can see how it influenced some of the scene, just not an overall great album.
fine garage rock sound, didn't know my socks off.
Did not like the mix 90 percent of the time. Vocalist was too quiet but "The Slim" was fire though.
Nothing new standard 90s alt rock
After two listens, I failed to see how the album was ""The last word in love songs," enthused NME, "and the full stop after heartbreak."" The lyrics were interesting and sometimes poignant, but I felt no emotional connection to the music to feel like I would reach for this in sadness. I'll leave that to others who did it better, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. 2/5
A couple decent tracks but nothing too special imo
It wasn't bad, but too generic. No variation at all.
Pretty mid and boring
Meh. Fine songwriting here and there but such a long album.
Hard 90’s rock
Couple of tracks in the middle very much annoying 90s pop rock sounding, which I guess makes sense since this is.. a 90s rock album.
Pretty generic, feeling like if Michael Stipe of R.E.M. decided to have a slightly harder sound for an album. In-turn, sacrificing anything unique about R.E.M. I realize the singer here, Bob Mould, was in a band that was a relative inspiration for Stipe, Hüsker Dü. But quite frankly both R.E.M. and even this album are far more interesting to me than their output, but I digress, this isn't really about them. Basically, this album is dull. You have a lot of generic power chords, repetitive vocals and lyrics, and just a general 90s vibe that leaves a lot to be desired. It isn't bad, but you won't find anything here that most other bands from the time don't do better. Considering the album gets softer as it goes on, one has to wonder if they front-loaded the album with the more forward bass riffs and rougher guitar effects because the rise of grunge spooked them. I mean, it was all happening while this album was being recorded, so it would make a bit of sense. It was financially successful, but assuredly you won't be getting anyone saying this is their favorite album out of the alternative 90s scene. As I said, it's just dull, and just kind of… exists.
From that genre of pretty good but also pretty meh American Rock
Seems not all that great. I put off reviewing this and for the most part forgot about the album now. Will I listen to again: 1%
Just more generic, non-distinct 90s rock. This album isn't bad, but there is absolutely nothing even remotely interesting about it, which one could argue is even worse than being bad, because at least most bad albums are still interesting, even if it's in a bad way. This is just like an AI generated 90s album to make the most typical album of that decade as possible.
Helpless was good. The rest was like Dollarstore Collective Soul
Full of 90’s flavor, a product of the time more than anything else
Seems kind of like angsty adult garage rock. Nothing in this one for me personally.
Bob Mould is an artist I always meant to explore more, but I am surprised that his representation on the 1001 is through Sugar. Hüsker Dü, Mould’s 80s post-hardcore band, seems like the one with a bigger impact and influence, with Sugar only putting out two albums in the 90s. Meanwhile, Hüsker Dü’s “Zen Arcade” made some best of the 80s lists, including placing #33 on Rolling Stone’s top 100 albums of the decade. But Sugar doesn’t leave much of an impression. Sugar should be addictive. Sugar should result in a jolt of energy. It starts off decent enough, enough that on a second listen I thought after the first few tracks that my initial judgment had been too harsh. But the further in you get, the more it feels like there is a direct line from Sugar to Goo Goo Dolls and other bland late 90s rock. While “Copper Blue” may not have made much of an impression on me, it has at least prodded me to try out some Hüsker Dü (which I definitely like better than Sugar) and helped me discover down the Wikipedia rabbit hole that Bob Mould wrote the Daily Show’s theme song and even had a short-lived stint as a pro wrestling writer for WCW.
I'd never heard of this band or any of their songs really, though it sounded so 90's familiar. The songs felt polished but they didn't pop for me. Good music, but none of the songs stuck with me. I never got that interested.
Very average, monotonous, boring and just too common. I'm not sure what is this album doing on the list, there is nothing good or original about Copper Blue. Just waste of time.
Why grunge died. This being compared to Nevermind is an abomination. No intensity, lighthearted, low IQ horseshit. NO TALENT! no offense.
Idc
Unmemorable
Taki słaby rock 2/5
The most awful mixing I've ever encountered so far I think. I think it might be good, but I can barely conceive anything over the overblown drums and guitars.
I didn’t dislike it but I wouldn’t go listen again! Had some cool drums but overall just didn’t peak my interest or vibe with me
Never heard of them and not my kind of music but didn’t mind it that much overall.
Not horrible, but not really enjoyable either. Loud, although not as distorted as it could have been.
Cookie cutter early 90s “alt-rock.” It sounds like it could be the Friends soundtrack.
ну это альтрок приятно ли это слушать? приятно запомню ли я этот альбом? нет запомню ли я как звучит группа? тоже нет
гречка с сосиской
I liked some of this and other parts not so much. This isn't the type of stuff I'd generally seek out and couldn't quite give it a 3 but I get the appeal.
Run to the mill 90s alternative music
Not my thing
Radio friendly, safe 90s music. Sweet guitars.
Cool for a couple songs
It was listenable but it seemed like a product of its time (early 90s alternative, post hair metal grungey stuff). Not sure if it was trendsetting in any facet but I did like some of the driving guitar. The songwriting and lyrics/vocals left a lot to be desired. Its not bad i just think other bands did it better.
Ugh, like the bastard love child of REM and Nirvana. But they are related, so there the wrong number of chromosomes and teeth.
Rock alternativo genérico
Everything here sounded the same, and the base level wasn't good enough to make it enjoyable. Better than Husker Dü, but not by much. A weak ⭐⭐
Same old ,same old.... over and over and over
i did not like the vocals being mixed so in the back. and the tone/inflection got kind of annoying after the second song because it felt like the voice was just hanging around in the corner and bzz-ing at me and never coming in the front. apart from that the instrumentation is decent, the guitars get kinda samey after a while. the end of the album got more poppy and singy and i liked that a bit more. slick and man on the moon being the highlights for me. apart from that i liked a good idea as well. overall though it's not a standout album and i couldn't get through most of it without getting frustrated. it's a decent to strong 4.
Wunder mich nicht, dass ich noch nie von der Band gehört habe. Nicht schlecht, aber recht uninspiriert und langweilig
Langweilig und nichtssagend.
Not so much bad... just I think I fail to understand *why* this is on the list. Just feels really unexceptional.
There weren't better early grunge albums to pick from? Even the knock offs of knock offs did this better.
I'm not sure I cared that much about this one. Another generic rock album for me that left little impression...
Nothing special on this one.
Husker Du was already pushing the limit of how much 90s rock schmaltz I could be nostalgic for, but this project goes over the limit and still (even twenty years later) feels dated rather than a sentimental relic. Damn shame since some tracks approach a wild mix of R.E.M. melodies with Hum-like wall of sound instrumentation. Could've been an amazing combo if the songwriting wasn't so bland and the tracks didn't ramble on for so long.
It's probably not their fault that the 3-chord guitar-bath became an aggressively generic sound for so much of the 90's. Maybe it's like when I showed my wife the Matrix and her reaction was a kind of shrug, which then led me to explain to her how mind-blowing that movie was at the time. I liked the song about murdering your girlfriend in a river. Murder songs have fallen out of fashion and that's a shame.
brought me back to 90s rock radio
Lots of guitar I guess
Not for me 2/5
forgettable alt rock
Could nickleback exist without this album
One hitter
album rempli de tous les clichés du alt rock des années 90. probably deserve a better score, mais pour le manque d'originalité 3/10
first half: some alright stuff second half: mostly corny stuff
Formulaic 90s teen rock. Nothing wrong with that but it doesn't deserve to be on this list.
Pretty run-of-the-mill 90s alt rock. Not something I enjoy or care for.
started out not very interesting, got better after first track, but still 1.9/5. listened 2x and it grew on me a little but still <2.4
Finally, some melodic rock. However, every song sounds the same.
This was difficult to rate. The mixing was really bad at times completely drowning out the vocals with distortion. At time I couldn’t tell if lyrics were actually being sang! However the tracks either go from okay/passable to really good which makes the mixing a bit of a shame. I thought I’d get bored of this but I kept listening. I would give a 3/5 but because of the mixing I have to give 2.
Surprisingly ok since I'd never heard of them before. still not great.
It was okay. It wasn't particularly interesting. By the album cover I thought it'd be jazz or something
It wasn’t really bad but repetitive.
Achterhaald en niet interessant.
why does this sound like an average quality sitcom?
The ramblings of a drunk dinosaur trying to fuck its way back into existence
None of this makes sense
Mmeeh
Meh
I'm prob the one in our group who likes this genre the most but even I have had enough.
I let ChatGPT write my review for this LP (but I won't do it again, or at least, not soon): "Copper Blue" by Sugar disappoints on multiple fronts. Despite the accolades, the album fails to deliver a truly engaging musical experience. While Bob Mould's previous work with Hüsker Dü showcased his songwriting prowess, this LP lacks the same level of creativity and emotional depth. The tracks tend to blur together, lacking distinctiveness, and the production feels uninspired. Mould's lyrics, too, fall short of the introspective and powerful storytelling seen in his earlier work. Overall, "Copper Blue" pales in comparison to Mould's prior achievements, leaving listeners with an underwhelming sense of missed potential and a longing for the past.
Not surprisingly this sounds very similar to Husker Du given that they're both headed by Bob Mould (I do hope that's an alias and not his real name). They sound a lot like their post-punk counterpart, REM with a sprinkling of the Pixies. This record is fine, but it is not essential in my book.
2 stars
Highlights: "Fortune Teller," "Hoover Dam," "The Act We Act," "Helpless" It does take its transparent influence from Nirvana in another harmonic direction, and in doing so it's definitely nailing the general tone of Foo Fighters before Foo Fighters -- but there are almost no hooks, no breathing room for ideas, and the vocals are always hidden in a haze of modulation. Somebody needed to tell Mr. Mould that if almost all your songs are ABAB they probably shouldn't all be four to five minutes, especially if like "The Slim" it's more like ABAAAAAAAAAA. In spite of being a little ahead of the curve, it comes across extremely samey.
This sounds like every 90s band ever.
So many better examples of this genre and from this year. No reason for this to be on this list.
Very average. 2.5/5
2/5 Best: Changes Worst: If I Can't Change Your Mind
Vibes 3/5, dynamic & excitement 2/5, difficult to find the energy to think of things to say about it.
Fun enough and catchy alt rock I didn't care all that much for it
Idk man
it's all one song como dice neil. no lo terminé, paré en la enésima repetición de la misma canción.
Boring music poorly produced.
Listened through all of this, excited for Man on the Moon, only to find out it wasn't the Man on the Moon that I was expecting. All in all, not bad, but pretty unspectacular. My man's voice got on my tits a bit.
"I'm making a 90s US college movie. There'll be frat house shenanigans and young adult lessons to be learned. I just need the perfect inoffensive soundtrack... this sugar album.... perfect!!!"
I like it when they sound like the Pixies. Actually, I just like the Pixies really.
Mouldy
This is not really doing anything for me. It sounds like generic background 90s alt/punk rock. The lead singer’s voice is really whiny sounding on a lot of the songs. It’s just consistently mediocre, there’s basically nothing interesting happening except If I Can’t Change Your Mind (which is unique and actually good). Maybe I'm just in a bad mood today, I don't know. I don’t actively hate this, but am struggling to understand why it made this list. Favorite song: If I Can’t Change Your Mind Other: The Act We Act
Rock alternativo. Ni fu ni fa. Mira, me ha rallado tanto el que la voz sea tan baja y que casi ni se les entienda que le voy a poner un 2.
Not bad, but kind of all gloms into one big mush. Each song feels like it drags just a little too long but none of it is bad. Going to forget I listened to this in about 72 hours. 2.5/5
Pretty meh. I would take the first two Cranberries albums over this one if I want early 90s alt. 🤷 I'll give it like a 2.3. (Rounded down )
Sounds like the less talented love child of the Foo Fighters and Buck 65
look, i know they predate Nickleback by considerable time, but that's the vibe i got
Not really bad but incredibly generic and forgettable
Just a really bland and boring version of what a lot of bands at the time sounded like. Nothing really unique or interesting to say about it.
2.5
2.5
Bland, seems like the mixing didn't age well at all
Instantly forgetable.
Right down the middle of the road.
It's good but another pretty generic rock record all considered. Stuff like this can't continue getting the equivalent of a 2:1.
Offensively American
To steal from one of the top reviews on this, it genuinely sounds AI-generated. So many albums out there better than this sludge
Not my thing. Very 90s. Grunge-Indie? See why it didn’t catch on. Sot The Way We Act Hoover Dam If I can’t change your mind 2/5
not for me? kinda generic-sounding 90s rock
Best Song: If I Can't Change Your Mind. I could easily see this playing over a montage in a 90s movie where the guy is trying to convince the girl he's been pining over to fall for him. Worst Song: Man on the Moon. Might not have been the worst (although that breakdown was awkward), but I was definitely tired by the whiny drone by this point. Overall: It's just a bit boring, isn't it? Certainly not so notable to make a list like this. It sounds like a popular local band that never made it big.
Very generic sounding
There is quite a lot of noice
Oasis did it better. 4/10
If I didn’t pay attention to the music, I wouldn’t been able to tell the difference between the songs. Lack of variety in the drums and guitar melodies. Sometimes it sounded like white noise.
Points for an artist that reinvents themself, but I can't get over how every song is laid out in the first 15-30 seconds, and then it's just a loop thereafter. The album made for fine alt-pop airtime filler when radio stations were clamoring to fill their dockets with "grunge", but I don't think this one really stood the test of time as being something I had to hear.
Also very 90s. Didn’t hate it, but not sure why I had to listen to this album before I die. Proper neggy comment, I know.
90's corny with some okay moments. Took a bit of a turn when 'If I can Change Your Mind' came on. Felt like the intro to a Friends spin off.
It’s ok but feels a bit one note with not much standing out. In large part I think that might be because the vocals are quite flat
2 pretty ok
90s skater boy tunes
Not my cup of tea.
Bob Mould is a legend but I’d rather listen to Husker Du. Didn’t do much for me. Nothing memorable
meh
This sounds like a forgettable example from an era of much better grunge/indie rock. Not my thing, too generic sounding.
Some of the songs are catchy but much of the album just blends with each other with a generic sound
It’s ok. Never heard of them or any of the songs. 2/5
This sounds like what you'd get if you searched "90s grunge" in a royalty-free music library. It's like the diegetic music you'd hear in the background of a teen film set in 1992. Like a previous reviewer said, it's like it was produced by an AI trained on existing grunge albums. Its biggest flaw is being dull and having nothing new to say. I'm not a huge fan of the genre butni know what's good and this just isn't. I'm honestly surprised it's in the list.
J’ai pas aimé ça
I didn't care for this. Super receptive, annoying voices and uninspired writing. Boring and a waste of time. Also, I'm in a real bad mood and haven't even finished but sounds like Nickelback.
Meh
Hmh olipas aika keskinkertainen. Joitain pirteitä hetkiä niin ei nyt ihan ykköseen jätetä.
Eh vähän tylsähkö. Jotain hyviä biisejä joukossa, mut kokonaisuus 2/5
So forgettable. Generic, might've been great at the time, but I wasn't impressed by all but one song on this whole album. Meh
this will be a boring review, because it was kind of a boring album. it wasn't bad music (and there has been some bad music on this list! i know this wasn't bad). it was just unremarkable to me.
SUGAR !
Меня почему-то выбесил этот альбом. Хорошо, что 90-ые вспоминают не за такое.
Meh
Bland.
Too generic
So much meh
Beetje klassieke punkrock.
2.5 - Insipid rock that occupied a general “alternative” gray area in the early 90s, back when that designation was just starting to take hold. These guys were in and out of my radar, along with outfits like Matthew Sweet and Teenage Fanclub, never resonating. The loud guitars hold as much interest as a buzzing refrigerator. The vocals and lyrics are similarly uninspired. If I’m going to bother listening to shoegaze-inflected pop rock, I’ll choose “Chrome” by Catherine Wheel anytime over this.
Copper Blue by Sugar sounds like the type of music that you'd find in a 90s to early 00s teen angsty movie or tv show. This album is only helped by the fact that it came out around the time of the Nirvana Boom in 1991. Best: Man On The Moon Worst: The Slim
Had never heard of this or the band before . 1990s American Indie rock - I could place it by the sound. I didn’t love it, listenable, I thinks they take themselves seriously- the sound is quite dated - very typical of early 90s
It really just sounds like imitation pop punk/rock. And this is an era of that music that I like a lot. I feel like I've heard all of these songs before but don't actually know any of them. Just doesn't hold up as one of the greatest albums of all time. This might be one of those albums/bands like Sparks where the average person doesn't know about them but all your favorite bands say they are a major influence, but I just don't see it. The only track that feels "individualistic" was Hoover Dam. I think a 2 or 2.5 is fair. It's not an album I wanted to turn off but I don't see myself listening to any of these songs again.
boring
Nothing new about musci w this band ...
Alternativ 90’er rock, lidt generisk
Listened before? N It was okay. Heavily layered guitars and gravelly vocals seem like Social Distortion. Nothing special for me here but I could see how people would like it. Added to Library? N Songs added to Playlist: Helpless
The best songs of this album IMO: - Fortune Teller Generic rock band from the 90s. 2.4/5
Enjoyable but very 90s alt rock, which is to my taste. Almost 30 years on I wouldn’t say it’s an album you need to listen to, unless this is the music you are into.
pretty forgettable - not really sure how it made it on the list. not terrible. 2 stars
Indistinct generic “alternative” music
Well, they're singing and playing something, but that's it.
Though I don't know this band, I have high expectation as its ex-husker-du. "A Good Idea" could be a Pixies song with different vocals The rest is quite forgettable. "If I can't change your mind" is so saccharine, sounds like a jingle or a 90s sitcom theme tune. Disappointing. I mean again, its not unpleasant, actually quite enjoyed some songs, but really wondering what it special here to make it into this list - I listened to loads of alt rock bands like this that don't make this list.
Feels of the time. Good background music but none of the tracks really stood out to me.
Definitely a 90s album. The mix isn't great, and a lot of the sound is lost in the jumble. This almost sounds like a band that is trying to mimic the stereotypical 90s sounds, as opposed to a band that helped create it.
Hmmm. Not really sure about this one. It seems stuck in it's own time. I can imagine my friends listening to this one, but me not really 'getting it'. This could be one of those that I may need a few listens to appreciate it fully.
Like a less good Pearl Jam. 2/5
okl
Didn't care for it
Pretty bland 90s rock, and nearly every song is 2-5 minutes too long. Sounded like bad Foo Fighters at times.
A poor man's Pixies
Expected to like this a lot, was left feeling meh
Like a less woeful Nirvana. Nothing particularly exciting, but pretty catchy and bouncy in places. Quite liked the poppy bits, disliked the dirgey grungy bits. 2.5/5.
Pretty generic 90s alt rock. Musicianship not too bad, but songs sound quite samey, and the singing is truly, truly awful.
Solid - never heard of this band before today. Highlights are If I Can’t Change Your Mind and Man on the Moon.
When I started listening, my first thought was that I was going to like this. But as I got in to it I noticed how it was very repetitive both sonically and lyrically. Overall pretty disappointed about this album.
Similar reaction to below. Some harder guitar riffs but I found it melodic to a fault. It sounded corny to me. As I was listening I thought several songs could be a theme from a bad 90s CW teen drama. I guess the song A Good Idea is ok but again boring 90s alt overall.
Did nothing special for me. Not sure where this fits in. Basic instrumentals, vocals and lyrics. Had the nineties sound without the nostalgia.
Sounds like every band from the early 90’s
this album probably paved the way for all '90s and early '00s alternative rock bands. Not for me.
Not bad but nothing really that special or standout about it. Didn’t hate it but didn’t really think anything of it. Borderline 3 but today I’m not feeling as generous.
It was all a bit meh. Tunes sounded very similar to not only each other, but a load of other bands I've heard over the years in American Pie soundtracks.
Not bad but didn’t have enough to make me wana go back. Weird shout by NME
Generic is the word. Forgettable as well 1.5
Ive never heard of this band. Man this feels very ninties, grungy droning guitar and vocals that sound like a painkiller addicition. I enjoy the ska influences. I enjoyed hoover dam and slick. I noticed I enjoyed the songs better when I don't pay attention
I was a 90's kid and have never heard of this band or album ( I am l little familiar with husker du). Does not make a good first impression. Sounds very dated. Sounds like old people trying to sound young...
Trop d'album dans ce genre sont sortit dans les années 90. Ce n'est pas le meilleur que j'ai entendu de tout ces groupe de Punk/Pop rock. Il y a un côté grunge, mais pas très mémorable. 2.75
7
It’s just so middle of the road for this genre. It’s not bad, but man it feels so uninspired.
Meh. Pretty generic 90s alt-rock. Definitely the thing you heard on the radio in the 90s. Not sure what to say, but it's... there. I don't remember any of this either.
eh.. pretty typical 90s band
i'm not nostalgic for the 90s
Bah.
If I wanted to listen to the music that plays in the "lesson" moment of a Scrubs episode I'd watch Scrubs. At least then the music only goes for a minute or so. Too alt-poppy for me.
I’m listening to this and trying to figure out why it sounds exactly like the other album I just listened to, and low and behold, the previous album was by Husker Du which was the last band this vocalist was in. This is like being stuck in ground hog day. Minus one for incredibly bad timing.
trash
Boring. It smells like a commercial attempt to follow Nirvana rules... without soul...
feels like a pointless noise carpet leading to boredom nirvana
Nickelback vermomd
Another one I don't like. What a streak! 1.0
Dislike
ciężki listen
Bland. Nothing interesting at all.
1/10… 90s indie / *1992
I mean, it's not horrible. This was certainly listenable, and maybe even a couple songs I enjoyed. But boy, this dude's voice is not pleasant to listen to, and that whining, droning guitar is painful. Most of these songs sound the same, the mixing is mediocre, and the songwriting seems uninspired. Just barely out of 1 territory here. Fave tracks: - Helpless - Hoover Dam Edit: The more I listen, the more my head hurts. One star.
1001 albums that indicate that space is not the place. 1
No
Tepid and bland. Adhering to 90's trends. Like a grunge version of the monkeys. But the monkeys had good songs and singing.
Very early 90's grunge.
One of the most generic sounds I've ever heard. Lasted three songs.
aburrido
not a fan.
1.5* boring
I could not finish this. Very much not my thing
Noisy 80s rock. Yelly male singer(s). Distortion. Bad.
Not for me
Is this grunge? If so I don’t think I like grunge
Absolutely couldn’t listen to this whiny garbage
• an sich finde ich es gar nicht schlecht, aber ich würde mir wahrscheinlich trotzdem keins der lieder in eine playlist tun
Not a bad alternative band from the early 2000’s. No big hits, but ok sound.
Generic 90’s alt-song, something safe and boring, generic 90’s alt-song, something from Seattle??
The biggest meh.
Gear: HEDD Audio HEDDphone Two Artwork: 🫐⚡🍊 Production: 😱🔪👂 Music: 🙄🫤😴 Rating: 🧂(🧂)/5
would not play.
Didn’t like this
Can’t prove it’s AI slop but the genre is definitely AI slop. Who the fuck makes this list. How did I just listen to 3 5-star albums in a row last week and then get this bullshit that literally no one needs to ever listen to.
Lame
ehhhhhhhh
very rote, unmemorable 90s rock. like if nirvana had no personality and the world's blandest lead singer. this is awful- the mix, the mastering, the songwriting the performances- nothing is doing the music any favors. how the ever-loving-fuck is this piece of hardened bird shite a part of this list?
Really generic and boring, all blended into one.
Devoid of artistic merit. The keyboard solo in Hoover Dam wasn't bad.
Mouserat really did a number on these bands. It sounded so generic and hilarious i gave up 3/4 of the way through.
Inte bra
Unknown band to me and too alternative to the point of being annoying.
What the everloving fuck is this generic 90's pop rock bullshit doing here? There was a time when one could cast a line into the ocean and inevitably reel up one of these bands. From Toadies to Meat Puppets and Presidents of The USA, this sound was pervasive and undeniably... mid. Ironic timing that this album came up following Metallica's best work, because that's how it went down, and everything rock tasted a bit worse thereafter.
sounds like foo fighters
vi prego un album decente domani 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Punkige Gitarren - Dauerrauschen...
1/6 noisy
Did not like it. Sounded like music used for a C rated 90’s movie
Meh. Oh. You wanted a longer review? "Relentless, unimaginative, tedious, meh". Is that better? 1/5.
Highlight: Helpless In a nutshell: dark and poppy Very 90s sounding. Pixies meets Lemonheads. Helpless would be perfect on a tv/film soundtrack set in the 90s. I'm not sure if it's "essential listening" though. It sounds bland and trying too hard to be the new Nirvana. This isn't NME Album of the Year content IMHO. Overall: 2/10
Vocals had annoying effects. Music by numbers. Forgettable
Sugar made me wish I was diabetic
Stereotypical 90's alt-rock. 1/5
Technically competent but I don't like how it's mixed and I don't think it stands out in any way. D Seriously why is this on here, I've never heard of this artist ever, there isn't some hit single inflating the albums standing like the beta band album. Why is generic alt rock on here, this is the Posies but generic.
Dull unimaginative pop, sigh
Namen der Band noch nie gehört, Sound schon. Austauschbar!
Generic and boring - why is this in this list?
Nothing stands out.
Do respect the quality of this work, but it's really not enjoyable listening for me. Mid 90s rock is soooo full of meh for me.
Mid
Kinda ok. Kinda not my thing. Unlikely to listen to again. 1 star.
sounds like a collection of awesome songs that are out now but really rough drafts and before the good drugs kicked in.
I don’t like how this is mixed , very guitar and drums forward but the singing isn’t great so maybe that’s why it’s so quiet ? Anyways not amazing
Awful
None for me thanks
Agree with another reviewer: it sounds like this is AI trying to create a 90's sound. Very generic, nothing catchy or interesting. How did this make the list??
ja nee dit is helemaal niks voor mij
flat flat flat tasainen tasainen tasainen missä ilma ilmavuus .. usko. matonta sokru... poor some sugaar oon meeeee... haradest rocking song of all time..... that is rock.... rocking song.... hhmm täyttä paskaa! aivan uskomattoman pitkästyttävää kuunnella tätä kekkaletta. ehkäpä yksi priimoimmista esimerkeistä yhdysvaltain ja läntisen maailman kommersiaali musiikin tuottamasta täydestä syöpäläis humpasta... muutan indonesiaan... kaikilla kiire, ei mihinkään... aaaa hhhhhhaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaaaaa..... kuka on rumpali + kitaransoittaja + vokalisti. sano, hei tarjoilia... sano kokille etttä olipas harviinaisen paskaa ruakaa.. ja huskeri konnektio löytyy täältäkin, karmii nykyään painajaisianikin a good idea
Bob Mould projects generally sound like tinnitus with vocals and drums.
This is trying SO HARD to be something it's not. It's meaningless, bland, and boring.
this album reminds me of branson, missouri in the sense that it's all style, no substance, kind of annoying, and gives me a headache.
So monotone and boring
Couldn’t finish
Didn’t care for this
Nah
Not for me
1 - Ew. This album is so annoying. A lot of the time, the chorus would be very repetitive and they'd repeat it over and over until the song ended. Also, some of the songs follow the structure of just repeating the title as the chorus, which is something I hate to hear in multiple songs in an album. I actively hated some of these songs.

Just awful.
It's like music openings of sitcoms, didn't like it
Nope.
Very generic American soft rock. Nothing that will change the world here. It's all a bit of a dirge with no stand out tracks. I'm surprised this has made the list - there are definitely 1000s of better albums out there. This list must be compiled by a person rather than a poll.
Grungy, very 90s. Sort of just washes out. Not a huge fan.
Like a load of 14 year olds being given musical instruments for their birthdays. Awful.
Not good
Nicht meine Richtung
not my thing - 1/5
?????
First listen Saved 0/10
Copper Blue packs the punch of stale bread, which has been chewed, gargled and spat back out. Its sogginess and general lack of flavour discourages further inspection.
This is some real basic bitch shit. I would rather listen to the FRIENDS theme song on repeat for 45 minutes than hear this album again. You're wasting my time, list.
Ass
Boring average rock 1 star
Toothless, safe rock music… yay, paired with some of the most annoying vocals I could imagine being sung on top of it. 2/10
Disney Channel
1.5 Some songs sounded like a continuation of Husker Du's melodic-hardcore kinda sound. Some sounded like unremarkable alt rock / jangle pop. One track sounded like the Pixies.
Uhh, I understand there is a whole slew of questionable albums that somehow slipped through the cracks and made it onto this list, so I guess once again it's up to me to pull out the broom, and sweep the junk away. 🧹
An hour of my life wasted.
Nineties college rock - what's to like? Not for me, I'm afraid.
every song sounds the same
Nah don't like it.
An extremely forgettable 90s release and a reminder that neither Yo La Tengo nor The Cranberries made this list.
