Reviews (page 5 of 8)
The first half of this album is the version of Dylan I just can’t do. It all sounds the same and his vocals are hard to handle, let alone understand. The electric half is more my speed, he seems to benefit from playing off of other musicians to keep more structure and pace. So it was nice to hear both and pin point that difference.
I’ve got mixed opinions. He’s a great songwriter but just can’t get past that voice. Fortunately the band played the last half and made the album worth the bus ride it took to listen. If I had been anywhere else I would have found something worthwhile to do instead. 11 minutes of Mr Tambourine Man with a lengthy harmonica solo consisting mostly of the same 8 notes? I agree there’s a lot of creativity in his songwriting and I get that he’s been a great influence on a lot of bands that came afterwards - some who are my all-time favorites. But I would rather listen to covers of his songs instead of him.
Its Bob Dylan…his Voice, his Instruments, not mine…but fhe second part of the album is okay 5/10
Not my favorite of his! Still pretty good
Had to wade through too many poor live versions of good studio slow songs before a few good jams.
I wish this included the heckling that was apparently happening. It must have taken some guts to go electric and keep performing when people are mad at you. I don’t like live albums and Dylan’s voice was extremely Dylan here but I thought the electric part was fun. High 3.
This album is likely on here more as a historical artifact than for the music itself. It’s not bad I just prefer the studio versions of these songs. I’d go see Dylan live if this was the setlist rather than Frank Sinatra songs sung badly.
This guy has never been my thing, but at least in the early days his voice still sounded nice.
My expectations were low but this was actually good. It being live helped a lot, he did some interesting things with his songs.
Good. But I think Bob Dylan, despite being objectively good to great, may be the most overrated artist of the last 60 years.
It's fine, but not sure why it is an album I must hear before I die. 3/5
Not a lot of variety.
Tale of two halves. The first one was more a poetry session, which is great for some but not me, and things picked up a lot in the second half when the band came in. Averages out to average
From the first few words of the first song I thought to myself "damn this will be a LONG 1 and a half hour". Then the super loud harmonica started playing. Jokes aside yes this was long and tedious but side 2 was better at least so I will give it 2.5-3
Too long. First (acoustic) half was a bit disappointing. The second (electric) half was more enjoyable. A good version of "Ballad of a Thin Man".
I liked the second disc or the other concert. Some good songs on there. Rounding down.

This is embarrassing. I think I prefer studio Dylan over live Dylan. I wasn't able to get into a groove with this album. I like Dylan. I just did not enjoy this live recording like I have enjoyed so many other artists' live albums.
not a huge fan of live records
Bob Dylan is great/transcendent/legendary/eternal. I think if I saw him live I would be transfixed for the first few songs, and then after that I might wander around and get a beer and a hot dog while he does his thing. There's certain parts of his sound that aren't pleasing to me; like his vocals here are a little grating and the harmonica can be very off and very forward in the mix and they both hit me pretty hard on this recording. I find it funny that the second half of this made people upset and was met with heckling and shouting during the performance. People were apparently saying that Bob Dylan had "sold out". I think the second half is what elevates the album and keeps me interested in the whole listen.
nice time capsule and historic recording, not exactly my cup of tea
hans röst låter ondskefull bästa låt: just like a woman
Vissa låtar är jättefina som Mr. Tambourine Man, It’s all over now baby Blue o Ballad of a thin man 🧍♂️ Men asså ibland vill man ju bara hoppa nerför ett stup när munspelet kommer in eller när han sjunger😁
Asså lite svårt att ratea som album eftersom det e ett liveframträdande, men det var iallafall väldigt bra o mysigt Bästa låtar: Ballad of a thin man, Like a Rolling stone, Mr Tambourine man
Meh - the usual Dylan. I never understood the hype
It's Bob Dylan I don't want to give it less than a 3. It really doesn't need to be here though. There's some great albums missing from this list and we really don't need a bootleg that offers nothing special taking up a space.
Kind of a sneaky way to insert a Greatest Hits compilation. I'm sure it won't be the last live album to serve this purpose.
Bob Dylan is certainly talented but his vocal style and harmonica playing isn't something I want to listen to for over an hour. Thankfully the b-side kicks in with a full band to mix things up. Interesting that a bootleg made it on the list.
Ehtaa sikstaridylania. Vaikken välitä kauheesti näistä livelevyistä oli tää parempi kun ajattelin. Hauska kokonaisuus kun jakautuu kahteen erilaiseen puoleen. 3/5
I do not understand the need to include a live album of Bob Dylan. The quality of his live performances is not that consistent (drunk, high, forgetting lyrics) to act as if this is his standard.
He's just too much some times, and this recording seems to highlight it...
Dylan's poetry is unmatched. But his voice is really tough to listen to on this album - the inflection is a bit much. I also feel that Live album's can be incredibly difficult to listen to and appreciate unless you already have strong familiarity with a band, and their inclusion on this list is often questionable when better albums are relevant and accessible.
I'll be contrary, Side A sucks, solo Bob Dylan with an acoustic guitar and a harmonica is a blight on humanity. Side B is literally electric in comparison and the (as yet not named) Band are tight and being a judas never sounded so good.
I'm not a big fan of Dylan--I don't like his voice. However, I recognize that he has cast a long shadow across popular music. Hearing him at this turning point, I'm sure glad he picked up an electric guitar, because just imagine how insufferable the rest of the 60s and most of the 1970s would be if he had stayed entirely in the all-acoustic "pure folk" camp. Ugh. Anyway, I definitely prefer the electric stuff on this album, mostly because The Band (aka The Hawks) could play the ever-loving shit out of their instruments and worked so well as a unit. I still can take only so much of his voice. This is a good album if you can get past that.
No doubt that was Dillon.
A good collection of Dylan songs with some interesting history. Not sure if I’ll ever particularly seek out the bootleg live album though.
Meh, I do not like listening to the rambly man. 3/5
Better than the last Dylan record I got. I found it hard to pay attention to his 10-minute long songs. I can list to a long song, Rush has done great ones, but these were pretty hard to get through. The guy still sounds like a homeless guy rambling and blowing a harmonica with his nose on occasion.
Bob has a certain twang live, it is unmistakably Bob.
The funny thing about this record is that, although labeled as having taken place at the Royal Albert Hall in London, it was actually recorded at a concert at the Free Trade Hall in Manchester. Apparently it was a mislabeled bootleg that had been released, so when the record label released it as an album, they kept the Royal Albert Hall name. It's a double album. Disc 1 was an acoustic set that Dylan did, Disc 2 was an "electric" set played with his band, The Hawks. I had a hard time getting through this double record. I love Dylan's music, but can only take his voice in small doses. My fuck he has an irritatingly nasally voice, and live is worse, because there is no vocal editing that has taken place. It was hard to rate this record because he has a run of insufferable moaning, followed by an absolute banger like Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat. I enjoyed the electric set much more than the acoustic one. Favourite songs: Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat, Mr. Tambourine Man, Desolation Row, Like a Rolling Stone, Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues, "Baby, Let Me Follow You Down", One Too Many Mornings, Fourth Time Around, Visions of Johanna, "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue" Least favourite songs: She Belongs to Me, I Don't Believe You (She Acts Like We Never Have Met) 3/5
I didn't expect to enjoy this, not generally a fan of live albums, but this one had the right combo of mixing, sound quality, and choice tracks. I could have cut the set down though, it was a bit too long.
Je öfter ich Bob Dylan höre, desto weniger gefällt mir seine Stimme ...
A live album of a bunch of songs that are already on this list. Not sure why this qualified, there wasn’t much energy or anything. It just sounded like Bob Dylan singing Bob Dylan which is exactly what it was
Didn’t feel like a live album tbh. Harmonica was a little overplayed but pretty standard bobby D tbh. It’s good, not great
The first half is a boring acoustic set that feels like Bobby D’s reciting his unedited lyric notebook and busting it down sexual style on his harmonica. It’s the kind of thing you either love or hate. And listen, I like Dylan, particularly folk Dylan, but this is exactly where I jump off the Bobby D express train. This set is mostly meandering moaning. So yeah, Disc 1 isn’t for me. Now, as for Disc 2? Honestly, it justifies not only why Bob went electric, but the sheer ✨energy✨ that must’ve filled the room once he did. It still suffers all the same issues as Disc 1 — unedited lyrics, sprawling jams, harmonica galore — but a backing band really numbs those nuisances, and makes Dylan fun to listen to, even more fun to listen to live than on his albums. This bootleg makes that contrast really clear, and you get the sense that it truly must have felt like a revelation to hear these two sets back-to-back. You can complain about the validity of including a bootleg, a live album, even another Dylan album, but honestly? It feels more necessary to include this than the two studio albums that originated most of these songs. Listening to this makes the electric controversy clear, and this feels like an appropriate historical document. That said, do I actually enjoy it? Well, yeah, half of it, but it’s still not an all timer favorite, either. Its contrast may have historical value, but my ears are inverted from the ears who initially heard this performance; the acoustic set is still boring, and so I inevitably dislike half this album. Meanwhile, while the electric disc made the controversy click, it still sounds like, well, a bootleg — peaking levels and all. While I would put this above Blood on the Tracks, it’s still not fully “there” for me. And maybe that’s because, nearly 60 years later, Dylan’s not all that exciting to hear, and the things that made him a musical god are now par for the course. And this feels extremely par for the course, no matter how much historical framing I place around it.
I can take or leave Bob, but this seems like a good snapshot of him in the day.
It's so hard to get past his "singing" style sometimes. I enjoyed the full-band stuff on the 2nd disc a bit more.
Historically significant, but very dated quality-wise Definitely one you listen to once before you die, but not gonna be in my rotation.
Nicht meine Richtung aber gut
A game of two halves. Literally :)
I like this better than I thought I would. While I doubt I will seek it out again in the future, it wasn't a bad background listen.
Great live performance.
I think if you're a Bob Dylan fan you will enjoy listening to this. However I am not very familiar with him so the first half of this was very boring. I enjoyed the second half more but I still hate listening to clapping in albums.
I like Bob Dylan, but this was too much Bob Dylan for me.
Can hear so many other recent songs in their melodies
The second, electric, half is better than the first accoustic half.
It's good for a bootleg, and it captures a moment that's historic in some sense (although I'd think the Newport Festival rock set is where it really started, and, consequently, I wish Maggie's Farm was on this too). More curiosity with it for me than feeling like it's essential Dylan
Didn't lsten
I wanted to like this more than I did. The songs that I knew still slapped (Like a Rolling Stone, Mr. Tambourine Man, Just Like a Woman). But the rest didn’t stand out to me.
Good. Little too much harmonica in my opinion but good.
Fouts toi ton harmonica au fond du nez Bob on en peut plus
Grew up with Bob Dylan, but was never a huge fan of his voice. That being said, not bad.
Didn't hate it by any means, and while I recognize Dylan's genius and influence, I don't particularly care for it. It's fine. Just don't feel strongly one way or the other.
Solidly Dylan, with all of the vocal inflections that we made fun of for many years. Some of them are actually pretty annoying. But the songwriting is what we come for.
First few songs were definitively meh. The lyrics felt clunky and a bit like gibberish, and the instrumentals felt monotonous. Some of the songs feel sexist or abusive, like Just Like a Woman or You Belong to Me. It does pick up quite a bit in the back half, which makes sense for a live show. Mr. Tambourine Man fuckin' slaps, and Like a Rolling Stone is huge. Would go with 2.5 ⭐️ if possible.
Good Bob, but I don't love live albums
6/10
Not my favorite, but he's a musical genius, right?
I KNOW that Bob Dylan is a fantastic and important musical figure and he laid a lot of groundwork for one of my favorite genres of music, but I gotta admit I wasn’t sold in the first half of the album. It really picked up in the back half though, which saved the album in my opinion.
Second half of the album really picked up and was enjoyable. First half… not so much.
Good, too short!
Он смешно поёт. Напоминает моего друга сашку. Но что-то как-то никак.
Have to admit that a one time hater of Bob Dylan has come around recently, and grown to respect and enjoy much of his work. Really enjoy the electric blues albums as they provide a rich sound Tapestry. This bootleg, however is what the haters hear in their head as they deride Bob as overrated and untalented. This solo act only highlights his whiny voice, absent guitar, and overused hatmonica.
disc 2 puno drazi

2.5
I get it, he's a storyteller, but far too repetitive for me.
nice live album. Old Dylan for those who enjoy.
One of the best songwriters, but I can't forgive his "singing voice"
I always find Bob Dylan a bit hit or miss. I didn’t enjoy the first half of this, but the second was a bit better. Wouldn’t listen again
The switch to electric saved this for me
Man...do I like Bob Dylan? I think his poetry is fantastic, but his music can be a little grating, particularly live. The first half of this performance, an acoustic affair, features Dylan solo, delivering his phenomenal lyrics with his trademark nasally snarl and blowing away on his harmonica every few seconds. The back half goes electric, which I much preferred, but this still felt like a rather long 90 minutes. I can't say I was super into it. I recognize Dylan's status as a music legend, but I think I prefer his music condensed into a 40 minute album -- or even better, a lyrics booklet.
There's some good stuff here. Obviously, Like a Rolling Stone stands out. And Dylan sounds good. I want to rate this higher but it's *** 1/2
Bob Dylan can write one hell of a song…but he can’t sing it…and shouldn’t.
Disc 2 was way better than disc 1. 3
For a bootleg this sounds pretty great. I just don't care for live albums unless it's something truly special

Live album
I respect Dylan as a songwriter, but the actual album is just alright. It was good background music for the morning.
This one is a tough call for me. On the one hand, the lyrical storytelling is fantastic. I can tell because I found myself actively listening to the lyrics, which is extremely rare for me. On the other hand, Bob Dylan’s vocal is lazy, almost drunken-sounding in this double album, and overall the sound is less refined than the studio versions of these songs. Even with the storytelling element being a big positive, the first disc is still a slog to get through, and the highlight is Mr. Tambourine Man simply because it’s the most famous song on the disc. Disc 2 is better, incorporating some electric guitar, drums, bass, and other instruments to create a fuller, more interesting texture.
Not a big Dylan fan. I think his voice is annoying and his harmonica playing is dreadful. That said, this is a pretty good album. No doubt about his songwriting. He can write.
It was long and alright. It is famous for the crowds reactions, but they are not in the recording...
Over the course of a few listens this grew on me. As I became accustomed to the quirks, the underlying qualities emerged. Like your eyes upon entering into a dark place.
As a proud Manc, I resent that they didn't take the opportunity to correct the title of this bootleg. As usual with Dylan, great songs, terrible singing, playing a harmonica like it's an inhaler. Didn't really have a problem with either the acoustic or the electric portions of this album. Don't think any of the recordings improve on the studio versions.
The more I listen the more the album unfolds. Dylan’s writing is genuinely dense and each line affords a myriad of interpretations. I like the folkier disc one better than the electric disc 2 as of now. Visions of Johanna, it’s all over now, just like a woman, tambourine man especially are fantastic. One too many mornings from disc two is great. Like a rolling stone is a stunning closer to the album. I need more time with it but it’s a 3 as of now because disc 2 hasn’t resonated me much and it’s a 90 minute album and I’d like to enjoy it more than I do now.
Didn't like
I have such a love/hate with Dylan. Brilliant lyricist and songwriter but a vocalist he damn sure ain't. +1 for The Band carrying the second half of this performance despite the wailing off key vocals
Maybe I am just not able to put myself in the shoes of a 1960s folk revival purist, but oh man: imagine going to see Bob Dylan, and he does a great set, and then he comes out for a second set with a band, and the band is The Band, and you’re like “Wow, this sucks.” So many people did that. Anyway, Bob Dylan is pretty much always good, right. This is neat, good time capsule sorta thing. Not the best live Dylan I’ve listened to, and nowhere even close to the worst.
Par for the course, as far as Dylan goes. I kind of prefer the second, electric, half to the folk side. But different strokes for different ... folks. I'll see myself out. 3/5
Dylan
Dylan. One of the most amazing songwriters ever, but I have a hard time getting all the way through this one.
Like this is good but it has limited appeal because the live experience doesn't really elevate the work or make you feel like you had to be there. There's just a lot more harmonica.
I'll have to revisit this one in a proper headspace. but it wasn't raining and i had no puzzle to do.
why are you singing mr tambourine man like that its so ANNOYING on to the actual review Okay, I’m writing this first part after hearing the acoustic part. Firstly, I’m surprised this is our first encounter with a Dylan record. He has seven, so it’s weird that I’m only having one from him when I’m so close to the midpoint of this project (since there’s 1,089, unless they release a new version before I’m finished with the project, that would be around album 273). Actually, it’s even weirder that I’ve had no Beatles or Beatles-affiliated albums. Seriously, there are 12. That’s as many as the Byrds! (His smile fades as he realizes the ramifications of this horrifying, tragic realization). Ok so the second thing is that we will ignore that fact forever now. The actual second thing is why not just listen to an acoustic studio album from Dylan? Seriously, this disc has no reason for you to play it for want of a live album. A studio album is A) more focused and B) doesn’t have this annoying version of ‘Mr. Tambourine Man’ on it. I don’t know why I dislike it so much, but his vocal delivery is annoying and it goes on for 4 extra minutes where nothing happens. The outro is really so long that when ‘Tell Me, Momma’ actually started it was like a jumpscare. Future me here: I actually quite like the second disc. It brings a lot of energy to the songs on it, especially to songs that I’m not the biggest fan of in their studio counterparts, most notably ‘Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat’, which I hadn’t really enjoyed both times I’ve listened to Blonde On Blonde (one time for a failed attempt at listening to every album in the top 50 albums in the RS500 and the other for a successful one of the whole list), but this version is way more enjoyable just for the energy added in. The one gripe I have is that ‘Ballad Of A Thin Man’ is kind of poorly mixed, especially since it’s probably my favorite Dylan song, but even then it’s not that bad. I debated whether to give this a 3 or a 4, but I’ll go 3 just to be mean.
Obviously this is a very important album to hear, given the pivotal moment of Dylan 'going electric' in the history of music. Honestly, this is not a really interesting album, and what stands out is how much *better* electric Dylan is, because (1) way less harmonica and (2) Dylan's frankly awful voice is less centred. Dylan's a great songwriter, the Nobel was a travesty, this is an essential album to hear, but not a very good or interesting one: all of these things are true and not incompatible with one another.
The mix is bad. Maybe if this was remastered sure but you can't really do that with a live performance. I know Bob Dylan is super influential in the music space, but I just don't get the music he plays. I love his music, just played by other people.
Belle retenue, en particulier pour un album live. Laisse toute la place aux paroles et à l’interprétation. Dylan toujours un peu monocorde à mon goût par contre
His voice is in between extremes for me on this one. The acoustic set was mostly pretty good. I get that it was a big change, but the electric set is pretty good. I wish they'd left more audience interaction in. The cuts are somewhat sudden.
All things considered a little bit underwhelming. I liked it fine but the songs kind of blended together. Can’t dislike an album with harmonica though!! Favourite song Desolation Row, since I already knew it.
I like Dylan and I like all these songs but I like them better recorded
Obviously includes some great songs. But also some that I don't enjoy/don't know as much. For me, I prefer the studio versions of many of the songs. The live versions didn't add anything.
Phenomenal lyrics.
Hidas alku, mut alko sit tulee vähän menevämpääkin. Hyviä biisejä päällisin puolin
Some good tracks but it's all songs you can get on their own respective albums. Nothing added imo.......
Sounded like Bob doing an impression of himself. Can't imagine it was a riot to be there?
HL: "Visions of Johanna", "I Don't Believe You", "Ballad of a Thin Man" Alright. If I saw this show live it'd be an easy 5 June 19, 2023
It's not going to be a long review - do I appreciate Bob Dylan's music? Yes, of course! Great songwriting, one of a kind. Do I like to listen to Bob Dylan's music? Nope, not at all. His style of singing, sparse instrumentation (in general) and his voice create just a perfect storm that I would not survive. Did this album change my opinion about Bob, one way or the other? No, it's just more of the same and only notable things is amazing rendition of "Like a Rolling Stone", which I will probably listen to more often. Other than that, forgettable experience, it changed nothing in my life.
Kun bändi tulee mukaan, pidot paranee. Alkupuoliskolla luulin joka biisin olenävan Norwegian wood, eli ajan henki vahvasti läsnä. Toki paremman kuuloisena kuin useimmiten.
Silly as it sounds, the value of the concert appeared when I saw Bob doing a full ninety minute quiet-loud on a '66 stage. Still, that first half is a little hokey: It takes a little getting by for the uninured. The selection of songs is appropriately broad, and they reveal blue skeletons under electricity.
I dont normally listen to live albums, much less boots. But this is a very enjoyable set nevertheless. The first half is decent but I think the second half is where it gets good.
As far as live albums go this wasn’t too bad. It had a lot of his great songs together which is nice. He also solo’d on the harmonica like he was convincing people the harmonica was as cool as the guitar. Overall this album just doesn’t have the same stereo recorded sound that makes music so crisp sometimes. The live experiences heard after the fact never impressed me. Overall this is a decent album with the songs but the recorded versions are better. 6.4/10
It was interesting to hear Bob Live in such an early part of his career, having already achieved international success. Concert is in two sets: the first is just Bob, guitar, and harmonica while the other has the band behind him. To think he was only 25 at the time and had already become so notable is wild. It's nice to hear his artistry resonate through the theater and this album is good, though this is not a standout favorite
Bobby went electric
1. Loved it! Love his tone 2. Nice turns of phrase 3. A song for the mornings. Nasally tone kinda endearing 4. Swag vagabond is standing at ur door 5. Tbh I wasn't paying enough attention to this one 6. Uhhhhhh 7. JINGLE JANGLE MORNING SLAY 8. funnnnnnn 9. well did u piss her off?🤨 10. slay i love devotion 11. wasn't paying attention again😶 12. swag 13. cool 14. gorgeous open 15. SWAG
Not my favorite live Bob by a long shot, but a good snapshot of a moment in time. 3.5
I guess this counts as a legendary bootleg of a historic concert, and that's great, but even to a dogged Dylan fan who enjoys their share of live albums (the Rolling Thunder Revue ones are fabulous, as is the gloriously weird At Budokan) this is hard work without the visuals, especially as the all-important "heckles" bizzarely aren't obvious on this version. That Thin, Wild Mercury Sound really was lightning in a bottle..
A bit repetitive, ok if you like Dylan but I won't rush back
Dylan deserves all the praise he gets but this inclusion is an odd one, basically a greatest hits until 1966, it provides little to nothing new compared to having the actual studio albums on this list. With its long runtime it's more fitting for a Dylan fan
Andra halvan swag, första halvan växer kanske på en men va kiinda boring
eh
I prefer Dylan's later stuff
Never been that into Bob Dylan. Enjoyed the side with his band over the solo tracks. Decent live record.
I’m sure bob dylan would be fun to see live but hearing him live did nothing for me. Overall this was fine but I was just mildly bored for most of the songs and my fav bob dylan song, ballad of a thin man, wasn’t even that great on this. Also I understand that this is historically important but it’s just a live greatest hits album which probs shouldn’t be in this list when I already heard most of these songs from other albums. Barely gets a three because bob dylan is still talented even if I was personally bored.
first listen its...a live dylan album
A weirdly amazing, or amazingly weird piece. Really vibing with the melodies, but then he destroys my ears with the explicit harmonica. Same with the vocals and the lyrics... Sometimes they are great, then I get used to them, and then he just gets weird again. Feel like this deserves a 1 and a 5 at the same time lol
I don't get why this album is on the list. What is special about Dylan's live performance? I just don't feel it. I like his studio albums, this is just fine.
Brilliant poetry and simple acoustic accompanyment. As a vocalist however, Dylan is a decent harmonica player.
I should listen to it more, to understand the hype.
I like Bob Dylan, I really like his storytelling style and songs. For me personally I find that there are better Bob Dylan albums, that aren’t live recordings, out there. So I’m giving this specific album a 3/5. One of my favorite songs ever is Desolation Row, and I do enjoy like a rolling stone. If you’re looking for something louder and faster go to My Chemical Romance’s cover of Desolation Row, it is a shorter version but very good!
Everything after the first two songs is worth a listen. Favorites are leopard skin pill box, ballad of a thin man, and like a rolling stone.
A little acoustic Bob Dylan goes a long way for me.....this was a bit too much....Bob Dylan is a class, however, so I'll give. it three stars out of respect.
Well, Dylan is a great songwriter, for sure. However, not sure why a forgotten live recording should be in this list, when there are so many original Dylan albums we could enjoy instead.
Bob Dylan is an iconic songwriter who hangs out at this really cool crossroads where poetry and that feeling of fireside song meet. I dig it. I don’t always enjoy how much that man loved his harmonica, and this album makes that feeling even bigger. Of all his work, this particular collection doesn’t feel like the best representation of him, with some of the songs I love done in ways I enjoyed less. This would get a higher rating if it was a different collection.
Hasn’t everything been said about Bob Dylan? What disappointed me about this is, if you’re going to have an iconic bootleg album, then why are you editing out the audience reaction? Surely the whole point is to hear how his change of direction affected the audience on that moment. I would rather have heard the original bootleg with all the heckling rather than a remastered, sanitised bootleg. Wasn’t the point to capture that moment in time? Bob Dylan has emotional resonance because my father had a picture of Bob Dylan on his piano as a young man which was the definition of rebellion in his household. My mother remembers it vividly. I’ve never been a fan of his vocals, but he is a superb poet. I love all the melodies. There are two camps I think for harmonica playing – love it or hate it. I am in the former camp and I actually wish I could play. So I am with him all the way for the first half. And I stay with him for the electric part too. My favourite on here is ‘The Ballad of the Thin Man’ - outstanding. But just imagine if he could actually sing?
This was probably the best experience I've had with a Bob Dylan album on this list so far. After listening to Time Out of Mind, it's nice to go back to how he used to sing. Quite a few songs were longer than they needed to be, in my opinion. I got bored at some points. This has a nice energy to it though. My favourite songs were Tell Me, Momma, Baby, Let Me Follow You Down, and Ballad of a Thin Man.
Dylan, just being Dylan
Definitely some good music here. I especially enjoy the unusual yet catchy vocal melodies Dylan employs in the first half. And despite the apparent criticism, I like the second half, as well. Based on the sound alone, I would have rated this more highly, but I didn't feel that this live album brought much value to the already existing songs.
enjoyable
It was okay, I prefer his studio albums
The older I get the less interested I am in Bob Dylan. This was ok but a 2 disc live album definitely starts to drag.
It's important. Because it's a document. Because it's Dylan with The Band (minus Levon Helm) on some songs. I just wish it was, you know, good. Sure, it was nice to hear acoustic versions of some Dylan classics. We went to see Dylan in concert a few years ago, not expecting much, basically just to see Bob Dylan live. Plus Mavis Staples was the opening act. Sure, Dylan was pushing 80 at the time so it wasn't like we were getting anything close to prime Dylan. Still, we left thinking Dylan just wasn't a great live performer. Half the time he doesn't give a shit, and I can't even remember one song he performed. Apparently he did an old Dean Martin standard I was either unfamiliar with or Dylan just mangled. This album basically solidifies my opinion. Dylan will go down as perhaps our greatest songwriter, but that clearly doesn't translate to anything remarkable in his live performances.
lots of harmonica, definitely interesting that a live album made the top 1001 i wouldn't have expected that
Interesting to have a bootleg on the 1001 album list Now besides Dylan being overzealous on the harmonica, this is a great time piece of Dylan live.
There are some Bob Dylan songs that I really love. But when I dive into the greater discography, it all cuts so close to parody. The fucking harmonica and the nasal whine of the vocals here can grate. That's the first half. Even Like a Woman and Mr. Tamborine Man... not great. But then the second half? The second half is a hoot. I mean, look, did I fall in love with any of the songs? No. But they had a lot of blood in 'em and made for a very good listen.
I'm probably not going to be able to make it to the 2nd half today, but I assume I'll like it better. The acoustic performances on disc 1 left me cold. I've probably heard "Visions of Johanna" before, but this time I realllly noticed the 8 minute length and the fact that dude's rhyming "jeez" and "please" and "knees," like he's a damn child. Enjoyed "Desolation Row," but that's about it from disc 1. Is this the tour he got booed on for going electric? I've seen clips from that shit and it's hilarious. People were way too far up in their own acoustic buttholes, ha.
3 I feel like this is one of those albums where you know if you’re gonna like it or dislike it within the first minute or so - I mean, it’s Bob Dylan. I enjoy Dylan, so I enjoyed this, but I can admit the live aspect of this album didn’t really do much for me to add to his music. I would likely rather listen to the studio recordings instead… especially so I don’t have to deal with constantly adjusting my speakers for piercing harmonica solos. The shift from solo acoustic to full band halfway through was a nice change of pace that helped prevent the album from feeling overly long, but I was little disappointed in what I heard (or didn’t hear) after reading the Wikipedia page on the album. Per the article, Dylan’s shift to electric alienated his audience, who seemingly turned against him and spent the rest of the show heckling and trying to throw him off rhythm, with Dylan firing shots back in return. So, while I guess I assumed the album was famous for what I imagined being the folk equivalent of a Steve-O live show I saw not too long ago, I ultimately didn’t hear any of that on my listen. Maybe the final product edited that out? Anyway, I digress - it’s a fine album, but nothing special. Favorite songs: Visions of Johanna, Baby, Let Me Follow You Down, One Too Many Mornings, and of course Desolation Row is always great
It always makes me laugh just how much outrage and pearl-clutching came when Dylan went electric. This was a cool little peek into that period, but Dylan's vocals can get extra... interesting, sometimes, when live.
Classic
Listened Before? N I have opinions about Dylan. He's great! in small doses. When he lines up a nearly two hour concert with so many long songs involved, it starts to blend together for me. Especially with all the harmonica involved. It just drones on. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate and love him, but THIS album got knocked down a star by its length and sameyness. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Like a Rolling Stone
Eh
Not a big fan of live recordings. Also included more harmonica than expected. Chill. Again didn't listen super closely.
Notes - Live album by bob Dylan - Disc 1 is all solo acoustic & harmonica performances - Disc 2 is electric, performed with The Band - Im not a huge fan of bob dylan’s voice, so I actually really enjoyed disc 2 where it was a bit more obscured - In disc 1 you can really focus on the songwriting and lyric aspect of his music but his vocals get quite nasally and abrasive at times, especially on the first song - Disc 2 also has a bit of a blues undertone that works really well with his delivery Fav - One too many mornings - Least fav - She belongs to me 3/5
I like Dylan. Not sure why this one chosen but I enjoyed it.
Importante para escutar mais da essência do folk.
sounds good
Never"got" this one. Some great stuff on here, without question. But the album in total seems to be less than most of its great tracks.
Kiva versio like a rolling stonesta. 1h 30 min dylania takana, tunnen oloni puhtaaksi tunteelta, en ääneltä, en. Rääkymistä on Dylanin ääni.... hyvät lyrics.. onko.... NO ON......ffff
Niet zo'n fan van de stem en ook niet van de grote hoeveelheid mondharmonica. Verder wel ok. 3*
Good. The second disc doesn’t have a good audio quality
Quire a long one, but a good performance
It was better than the last couple
Well mastered for a live album, some poorly recorded vocals in parts. A time piece of his transition from acoustic to electrical
3.5
This was fine as far as Dylan live goes, though his vocals, particularly in the acoustic set, already seem to be verging on self-parody - the exaggerated drawl, that nasal upward lilt at the end of almost every line. The electric set is more interesting to me, with Dylan consciously reinventing himself - in real time and in public - and by all reports in the face of angry opposition from some of his biggest fans. Still, I’d go with Before the Flood for a live set.
7/10
interesting story behind this album. I like Bob Dylan but in the first few songs, this feels extra whiney and the exaggerated inflections hit different for some reason. almost a parody of itself. that melts away to the dylan that I enjoy with a few songs that i know. im okay with it. I like the transition from acoustic to electric. gave it a little boost of energy that was appreciated.
Interesting
This and no Zevon on the list? Really?
Too much harmonica
09/18/22 Bob Dylan is the best. One of my favorites. But today I was not feeling Bob Dylan so I didn’t enjoy this the way I would normally have. I’ll come back to it. Came home from Houston. Stressful kinda because of Angela fiasco.
Low 3, not my genre right now but had its moments
This is my favourite Dylan album. All the songs I like, with great sound (on the acoustic stuff at least. The electric stuff sounds a bit shrill).
Good love album from dylan
Imagine a harmonica blowing in the wind for long stretches at a time. That's this album.
These concert recordings have some reputation and they sound absolutely great (5 star music), but I do not think such live albums should be included in the list. For sure, numerous major artists have given great concerts playing their best songs... and each of them could have a similar album as this one. Maybe if this album had an official release in 1966 it would have been a bit different but still live albums do not make much sense to me. Hence, a neutral 3 stars.
Bob Dylan live, acoustic & electric. Nice harmonica, voice as usual, rating as usual.
Sounds good and all amazing songs obviously. I just think that they sound better on the original records. Bob's voice doesn't really hold up live.
The Acoustic folk tunes are ok, but really only rate a 2. The electric stuff is much better - solid 3 and bump that to a 3.5 because it ticked off the folky goobers in the audience. Big disappointment here is that this album edits out the heckling - that’s the point of really enjoying this concert to its fullest!
Not a fan of the voice. Lyrics are tangential and not appreciated despite attempts.
bob dylan ao vivo, legalzinho
Well that sounded like Dylan
Bof
Liked this one more than I thought I would. Seemed a bit more chill than some other albums.
A bit long, but I can definitely see the quality and appeal of the record(ing). Bob is best when you listen to the stories he’s telling through his songs, but after ~90 mins of this it was tough to keep that interest. I’m sure with more listens it grows though. 5/10
Bub, sko. Ýmislegt sem hann hefur samið sem er gott. En um þetta leyti var hann ógeð. Og ég hugsa bara um J.C. og trúi henni. Mæli með að þið lesið yfir textann "Just like a woman".
I don't find many live albums that should count on a list of 'must listen' too, and despite my love Bobby D, this one is included. The mythology of the concert and the stigma of Dylan going electric is what merited this album on the list I'd wager. But its inclusion as a live album is okay. Dylan's acoustic set is amazing, filled with a greatest hits blast. Moving into the electric set backed by the Hawks before they became THE BAND, you can hear Dylan struggling to set the pace - or maybe that was intentional and he played sloppy to antagonize the crowd that was not so happy that he was playing electric. 3.5/5.
К сожалению, альбом совсем не мой, потому что нужно знать стихи, а я в первую очередь (несмотря на то, что ценю стихи) оцениваю музыкальную составляющую альбома и его целостность. Боб Дилан в данном случае не для меня.
Probably not the best to listen to while working since he's principally known as a songwriter. Anyway Like a Rolling Stone is of course a jam. I also liked One Too Many Mornings, thought Tell Me Momma-Baby Let Me Follow You Down was a good run.
Muy del estilo del compositor. Poca instrumentación, voz inequívoca y estilo muy folk. Un tanto monótonos algunos temas.
Keeping this one short as I have a feeling more Dylan albums will come - I've had one and will probably repeat this on each review: I'm fine with his voice etc, he's a lovely poet...I just don't get much out of the music. After reading a bit about this in advance however and giving it a listen...it is fun / interesting to listen to as a(n?) historical document - learning about the heckling as he "goes electric" is just...weird (get over it already, people). Although...I didn't realize I would enjoy his music much better in this live setting - both acoustic and with band - enough that I would say if I were told I needed to listen to one Dylan album... thus far this is the one I'd pick. 7/10 for history 3 stars.
So it's live, it's a bootleg, and it's Dylan. I'm not sure what all the fuss is with the two sides but sounds ok to me. Faves: Desolation Row, Like a Rolling Stone
Highlights: Fourth Time Around Mr. Tambourine Man Baby, Let Me Follow You Down Just Like Tom Thumb's Blues Artwork: 5 / 10 Rating: 5,5 / 10
I felt the sound for a show over 50 years was pretty good, actually. I first appreciated Bob Dylan thanks to the Concert for Bob Dylan that was released back in 1992. It's hard to believe that that's 30 years old now. He even came to perform at my college in 92 or 93, but I did not go to see him. Thing is, the Concert for Bob Dylan was just about performances where almost of it was other artists singing his material. Listening to this performance, it makes me appreciate his songs, but it really cements the fact that I just do not care for his singing. The studio really brings out the vocals better, because live he can't sing for crap, even in the 60s. And his harmonica playing is just sloppy and all over the place. And not in a good way. It's great to hear Mr. Tambourine Man by the writer, but an 8 minute live version without the Byrds just doesn't cut it. And there are very odd... pauses in some of the verses. I mean, he wrote it, so he can choose to do what he wants, but still, it's very off-putting. Live with a full band, Robertson's guitar does a great job of harmonizing with Dylan's harmonica, but it's a struggle. As someone who has heard a lot of bootlegs from many bands, it's interesting to hear the audience cut out of this. There's applause, but the pause in between the songs is cut out (for time, I assume). I would have liked to have heard their reactions to the electric portion, as from what I understand, it was less than favorable. So yeah, I would rather hear the studio versions of these songs, or another artist cover these.
God, Bob Dylan is just a terrible singer isn't he? I mean he can write and he can play but his Captain Kirk meets Lou Reed voice/stilted cadence is cringe-worthy at times. Mr. Tambourine Man is a perfect example of his super odd singing rhythm. Just Like a Woman isn't much better. The other problem is the recording quality doesn't allow me at all to feel the atmosphere of the concert. So disc one is stripped down and all Bob/all acoustic, but that's not all that much different then his studio recordings. On Springsteen's Nebraska I could feel all the emotion of a solitary songbird but not here. And then apparently the crowd was fired up and firing Dylan up (not in a good way) when the Band joined him for disc two but I don't hear that either. Another case of a recording of a live performance not living up to being there live. At least you can feel some energy from Dylan's voice/guitar and the Band's playing on disc two. And I know that's sacrilege because they were plugged in and he is Mr. sans electric. But the point is there's not enough feel to his acoustic performance; that's probably what you get with a shite bootleg copy.
I have a love/apathetic relationship with Bob Dylan. There's no disputing that he's an amazing poet and quite a good songwriter. The songs that I love, I really love and the rest doesn't really do much for me. This concert was a mix of both but I preferred the studio versions over the live stuff. Great playing by the band on disk 2. I listened for the guy in the audience that was supposed to call him Judas before "Like a Rolling Stone" but either I missed it or it was taken out.
It's a live album, so you know what to expect. This didn't seem like a very daring one either, but it's not bad. The Death Grips reference is nice, and there is a standout performance on Ballad of a Thin Man, but otherwise it feels pretty unnotable for a live album. Highlights: 12, and 14.
Musically I liked the studio albums better, but def respect Dylan's abilities.
Of course I’ve heard of this guy and I know he’s a good songwriter that basically can’t sing, I wouldn’t have put a bootleg live album on the 1001 albums book though… The set starts with she belongs to me a good friend enough song ( I won’t criticise on singing because its Bob Dylan), the harmonica solos also good. Fourth time around was good (I don’t know the studio versions of Bob Dylan’s songs because I don’t listen to him really), it felt like it took a bit too long to start buy it was decent, creepy lyrics by the seems of it. Visions of Johanna is good all be it very long … wow this guy likes the harmonica it’s been used so much throughout and we’re only on song 3. It’s all over now baby blue has brilliant lyrics! Again lot’s of harmonica, it’s just not my thing this instrument. Desolation row is really, really good on a lyrical standpoint, probably one I wouldn’t return to much (with its 11 min length) but I like it. There is harmonica again but it takes so long to get to that bit that my anger of the harmonica sorta went away a bit. Just like a woman was also very good again he’s back on his harmonica but what are you to expect. Mr tambourine man is good again great lyrics all be it a bit too long for what it is, there was ANOTHER harmonica solo and now I think I need a break before going to the second half The second half of the set starts with tell me momma while not lyrically my favourite on here the backing from the band works really nicely it’s sad to see this was never played or recorded though. I don’t believe you ( she acts like we’ve never met) is really good as I think his vocals improve ever so slightly being backed by the band. Baby let me follow you down starts off with the harmonica then going into the main song it’s not as good as the last to and the lyrics are some of the weaker ones but it’s still alright. Just like tom thumb’s blues is definitely a great certainty the best lyrically on the second set so far and good guitar solo . Leopard skin pill box hat has a cool rhythm to it great lyrics again you know the drill ( I also think the same about one too many mornings but I do think that one is slightly worse). Ballad of a thin man is so creepy sounding I love it has to be Bob Dylan’s best song. Like a rolling stone is a great song to end a setlist on everything good pretty much applies here to be fair. I liked it but I couldn’t listen to that much Bob Dylan ever again.
Bob Dylan is cool. I'm a fan of his for kinda being bad at guitar and singing and harmonica but somehow making it all work to create something unique and interesting. Still, I'm not sure how I feel about all these live albums being on the list. All these songs are on other albums. Am I rating his performance? I don't know. It's fine.
3 I suppose. He's very talented but I was getting a little tired of his sound by the end of it.
Just average to be honest. I know some people think Bob Dylan is the greatest, but personally, I don't find him to be anything special. I do think his music is good, but it is nothing that blows me away.
This album is split between the “old” acoustic Dylan’s and the new rock n roller. After all these years it doesn’t sound all that wild.
I don't like live albums and I don't like live Bob Dylan albums and I don't like double albums and I really don't like live Bob Dylan double albums. It's like he's trying to make his voice sound annoying on purpose. Like, he's a groundbreaking musician and an excellent poet, but when he's live he sounds like he's singing directly through his nose and blowing snot into my ears. I like a lot of these songs, but even some of those are...strange. I'm all for artists reinterpreting their work, but it feels like this version of Mr. Tambourine Man is just him being weird on purpose, and then it lasts for 9 GODDAMNED MINUTES. What kills me is that there are some greats songs on here, but I keep finding myself pausing this album to listen to other things. Like, this was probably an amazing concert to attend, but I'm just sitting here at work. The electric half of the set is a saving grace (I was going to give 2/5 stars for the acoustic part of the set). It brings of a lot of sorely needed energy to the performance. It's fucking hilarious that many people at the show felt the complete opposite about it and heckled Dylan between songs 3/5 stars
I suffered to finish
I was a little tired of the Bob Dylan vibe, and I'm certain that influenced my resistance to this album. Tell Me Momma was the first skip in my step as a departure from things already heard, or at least that felt tired.
The first half was only passable by me. It wasn't offensive, but I was definitely bored. I dislike Dylan's vocal style with his upward inflections. I was ready to just slog through it, but did the research quickly and saw the back half is electric so I waited for that. I found the electric half much more enjoyable, as I'm way more taken with interesting guitars and drums and such than the lyrical content. The electric saved it from being a 1-2 star listen.
I've never liked his vocals. It was just ok.
Never been a fan of this style of music, but I can appreciate its status. Songwriting is strong, though it does grow samey for 1,5 hours of acoustic strumming, harmonica and Dylan's signature vocal inflections.
It's ok but not for me
I don’t understand why anyone would think Bob Dylan live in concert is good. He isn’t.
I like Dylan, but this one goes on a bit.
Bom.
I think I have had my quota of Dylan, no more please.
It was good, but I much prefer the studio versions of the songs. I'm aware it is the 'Judas' going electric gig, but while the show was obviously a hugely important cultural event, its historic weight doesn't make it any more enjoyable. Love albums are (nearly) always a disappointment, aren't they?
This was getting a 1 star until the last 2 tracks which are absolutely brilliant. Both 1 star songs to my ears.
Bobs your uncle
I have said it once and will say it again. Bob Dylan is awesome, amazing talent and love his music. I just cant do more than 30 minutes without having to take a break.
There's not much to say about this album. It's really just a live album of Bob Dylan performing his songs, although I did enjoy some of it. It's interesting that a bootleg made it to this list though.
While I'm certainly familiar with Bob Dylan I've never sat down and listened to a full album. It was definitely an interesting experience, and it's easy to see why he's such an important part of music. Sometimes the harmonica got a little grating but overall this was a lovely time.
Ich interessiere mich nicht so für Texte und dann bleibt teilweise recht wenig übrig. Mundharmonika auch gewöhnungsbedürftig. Später wirds besser.
Oh boy. So Dylan. I appreciate his poetry and his gentle folk style. I like a lot of Dylan. I am not an obsessive though. I don't crave the bootleg sessions. I don't seek out little known, previously unreleased recordings. I didn't faint when he went electric. I know many who claim he can do no wrong. I beg to differ, but this concert is pretty good.
An important concert from a historical context, but this begs the question: should a recording of a concert that took pace in 1966 be included on this list as a release in 1998? Should it be included at all? The cultural impact it had was as a concert, not an album. And, to be honest, they aren't the best performances of these songs. This loses quite a bit of the impact of the actual concert because you aren't there, experiencing the event live. The atmosphere is completely lost in the translation.
Bob's voice doesn't sound up to its usual standard on this LP. He sounds a bit alto and raspy on the acoustic disc and a bit drunk on the electric. Maybe he was angry about being heckled? That said, it was hard to pick up much heckling on LP2, I guess it got edited out. Anyhow, it's a historic event - there was even a trivial pursit question about it, whcih I answered correctly, as I recall. It's good to have it on an album after so many years as a bootleg and good to hear "the Hawks" accompanying him this early. That said, I think I like the originals of most of the songs better than this bunch.
Best
I am a fan of some of Bob Dylan’s albums. I didn’t know this one, and I don’t think that I will be adding it to my library. The acoustic set had me at times mumbling “oh…no” and “please, no more” with some of the Dylan droning and harmonica breaks. Once the band joined, it was a bit more enjoyable.
The story about Dylan fighting back against the purists who called him Judas at this concert is cool, but it doesn't mean we need a live best of album on the list. (We also don't get to hear the famous moment. What a tease.) With a couple of notable exceptions, the album cuts are just better. Best track: Just Like a Woman
Slechte opname kwaliteit en de muziek is toch al niet waar ik op ga
Lyrically it's good, I mean it's a Bob Dylan album but I guess I just wasn't vibing with it much.
yeah, i know it's something i had to listen, but didn't feel great pleasure. Cool voice tho.
Different from some of the other live albums that've been on the list so far, not as crowd-involved and just nice renditions of his songs
some good tunes
I don't get the hate for Bob, he's overall pretty enjoyable. Live albums are cheating but still was a good listen.
You know Bob Dylan is a great lyricist, and some of his music is really transcendent. However, I don’t find myself enjoying him as much as I feel like others do. This was a fine album, but just that, fine.
13th August 2021 Started this while away in Suffolk with all of Gareth's mates. Didn't realise it would be this long, so took me all weekend and finished on Monday morning. The more I listen to Dylan the more I don't think I get him. Obviously he's a cultural behemoth, but I find his lyrics quite inaccessible, especially live.
Genuine mixed feelings on this. The first half is a 2 star, great songs ruined by a nasally whine. The second half is glorious though.
It would have been very cool to see Dylan in the 60s. This is a goid example of his live shows at the time, but I felt this album went on a bit too long and dragged in the last third. Absolutely loved the first third. Dylan is a force and a fantastic songwriter, and I'm undoubtedly going to give 5s to Blood on the Tracks and Hwy 61, but this was just ok overall.
lot of harmonica you see
Never lostened to much of bob, but i enjoyed this
Rating: 7/10
Good album Irritating (mondharmonica) Good voice 3/5
I'm glad I heard this but I this is not my favourite Dylan album despite its historical significance. Great versions of pill box hat and rolling stone though
amazing vocals, slow acoustic guitar, not my style of music but was an enjoyable experience 6/10
I like Bob Dylan. This album sounds very much like Bob Dylan. I've heard other albums by Dylan, but this album was new to me. I am familiar with studio recordings of several of the tracks, but otherwise the tracks on this album were new to me. I liked Side B of the album a little more than Side A. Based on this first experience, I don't see myself coming back for a second listen.
This album should not be on the list. It has been included for apparent historical significance. Plus it was released more than 30 years after the actual event. As to the content it is solid early Dylan showcasing his songwriting of that period. With it being live there is an opportunity to vary the delivery which is at best funny but more often irritating. The electric side is variable and now sounds a little limited. There are some songs where his vocal style works with a band.
Bob Dylan is an undeniable talent and legendary song-writer. But I've always struggled with his vocals.
solid sound. I am not a huge fan, but can respect the influence.
Oh good, ANOTHER Dylan album.
Amazing how fully rounded the new folk-rock sound was.
This is kind of a curious addition, but I suppose I shouldn't be so surprised to see a live album make the list. It's kind of hard to evaluate this on the same level as the albums we've had so far because it feels more like a document of an important moment in popular music history than an album. The fact that it wasn't officially released until 1998 kind of supports this. I'm also kind of struck by the fact that, after all the smoke over folkies being *shocked* about his electric turn, the acoustic disc is has significantly more plays. I know popularity doesn't infer quality, but it's kind of striking that those recordings seem to have more staying power into 2020. It somewhat delivers as a document of Dylan's status as a provocateur. But also, why does this release cut out the key "Judas" drama from before they play "Like a Rolling Stone"? I can't contain my disappointment that they cut out such a critical part. It's like watching an airplane version of a favourite movie. If they included the "Bootleg Series" version, I think this would be more justified. Ultimately, I can't help but feel other records deserve this spot on the list over this one. Favourite track: "Ballad of a Thin Man" and "Like a Rolling Stone"
Yehhhh OK, alright, struggling to get into it though. 2 or a 3, not sure yet. Picked up a bit towards the end. Deserves a 3 but still not my favourite Bob Dylan stuff. 3/5
Dylmeister at it´s best.
Good live album
Classic stuff if you’re a Dylan fan.
Forth time around hört sich an wie Udo Lindenberg der englisch spricht. Das Album ist so ein bisschen wie stumm Filme in Schwarz Weiß. Man kann manche auch noch gut heute schauen aber braucht die richtige mood dafür.
Overall pleasant to listen to but a bit disappointing. I just didn’t find a lot of these songs compelling and it’s suchhhhh a long album. 6/10
sure it is more important because of the period in his career and the venue etc than it is because of musical greatness. but.....i enjoyed it
Better than on the studio album.
Dylan live - not sure about that.
Legendary concert. Enjoyed it as a historical artefact more than a listening experience.
Nice one but not my style
Man this is too much Bob Dylan
Another Bob Dylan, this time live. Disc 2 is way more energetic with the full band than disc 1. I found this album to be somewhat less enjoyable than the last Dylan we did. He seems to be kind of phoning it in on his performance, something Dylan is rather famous for. His songs here also lack a certain amount of anger, which I really enjoyed on Freewheelin'. Not a bad listen, but nothing life changing.
Un bon album live mais j’aimemieux les albums studio. Je n’ai pas ecoute l’album avec attention. C’est peut etre la raison. A hidden ca fiterais bien je crois. 3.5
It was okay. Not a huge fan of live Dylan. I actually liked side 1 (all solo acoustic) more than the electric stuff.
3 - Keine Ahnung was ich hier noch sagen soll.
ok.
I don't like Dylan's singing that much to be overly positive about this one. The guitar on Ballad of a Thin Man is great, but man, is this album long.
Es un buen show. El setlist me agrada pero creo que de artistas como Dylan que tienen varios discos en la lista, es excesivo meter además discos en vivo. Songs: Fourth Time Around, Like a Rolling Stone
I have to be in the right mood, but Dylan can be enjoyable.
Standard Dylan.
Good concert. Some songs were a bit uninteresting. Some classics, some lesser known. All in all pretty good but probably not going in my rotation
Imo very boring
Not a huge fan of Bob Dylan, but the album I listened to had commentary before every song so it was neat to hear why he wrote certain songs
I just done like his voice (or the sound of harmonicas).
Den första halvan var typ en etta och den andra halvan är kanske, kanske en fyra. Så det är svårt. Seglar nog in på en trea.
Not bad but the music portion always seems ancillary to the lyrics
1966. Key Songs: Like A Rolling Stone
Ballad of a Thin man sounds amazing, but Dylan isnt an amazing live artist
ok
