Got a bit bored
Not for me
Was intrigued after I saw Tales From The Tour Bus episodes about George Jones and Tammy Wynette. It opens with probably the best song on the album "The Grand Tour". Can feel some emotional depth behind the album; unfortunately I'm so predisposed to hate twangy country, it's hard to give it much time or think I'd relisten to it that often.
Always thought George Jones was a bit overrated and this didn't change my mind I'm afraid. Really short album though at just 28 minutes for 11 songs.
Uninteresting
I can tolerate some old country
meh, too slow for me
Country music, and kinda bland country music at that.
really not my style
Nothing special.
It’s a no from me dawg
The name George Jones means absolutely nothing to me, but that's no surprise. Country music is like acid to my ears, so I avoid any assault on my good taste and hearing as much as possible. I hate the singers' drawl, but I guess that's how country music is supposed to be. I couldn't and didn't want to listen to everything. Most of the tracks seem rather slow and reflective, or even sad. None of it is my thing. Let the country boys and ladies enjoy it; I can't stand this redneck stuff.
Hit play, heard the country, hit stop, and listened to the new Olivia Rodrigo album instead
this is why people don't like country
I’ll never be old enough for this
Deze muziek kan ik echt niet aan
Not awful, awful, but boring enough for a one star rating
Definitely not my thing. I tried, I really tried, but this is schmaltz.
Fuck the author and fuck this list
Can't really differentiate this from other traditional country music, I think that's says something about the genre as a whole
Country? With pedal steel guitar? Snore. 1 Star.

Awful
I do not like this type of country
Oh look another white boomer with an acoustic guitar playing shite boring music. Why do I expect anything else from this fucking list
Does the photo on the album cover show the best example of sideburns of all time? I mean look at that thing - it looks like someone glued a piece of carpet to his face. Also, I'm immediately put off by any song called or including the word "Darlin'". That's always seemed like such a gross thing for a man to call a woman. Or anyone else for that matter. I'm not a country fan and can tell that this is probably gonna be a chore today. But only 28 minutes so here's hoping it won't be too bad. I think I lasted about 27 seconds before wanting to turn this off. I just really hate this kind of music. I hate how sappy it is. I hate the way the vocals always sound. I hate the way they build the melodies. I hate the lyrics. I don't know man, if you put me in a locked room and told me I had to listen to either this or hip hop for 2 hours to get out, I think I might just lay down and die in there. 1/5
enough with the country!
Noch hörbar. Schrecklich langweilig, leider.
Not my genre.
I'm not a country guy, but this is especially awful. Whiny heartbreak stuff and everything sounds the same. At least it's not long...
if this album was a person i would poke it with a stick until it died
Could only listen to a couple of songs. Really do no like this genre.
Yeah nah.
89. not for me
The lyrics seem well written, but I would rather read them in silence than listen to this.
Barf on a spoon
Oh, ok, so this is very country. If I were to make a stupid rip off of what I think country music sounds like it would basically sound exactly like this. Every trope: strong vocal twang, slooooooow songs, cheesy walking bassline turnarounds, panned background slide guitars, lonesome regret and heartache, something about the american outdoors I expect. I would have liked there to be more songs about bears, there weren't any, bears are very American, feels like they missed a trick. I do not like this. I wonder if you removed all the instruments and just had it as a folky acapella thing, like a campfire singing thing would it be better. Maybe. Probably. But they didn't. The slightly more upbeat ones are a little less nausea inducing. Essentially the last song.
Country music can do one. Dull.
Utterly dreadful, dreary country shite, apart from The Weather Man, which is not dreary, just shite. Nothing exceptional lyrically or musically. Pretty much unlistenable
Clicked on the link on the 1001 website and it opened in Spotify. Saw the cover. Thought this might be country and western so I skipped it just in case.
Not a fan of country music
Not for me. Not my style of music. There was some cute writing in there, but I found it hard to enjoy beyond the country twang.
Lame
boring as f
Why, god, why?
Nope.
I moved from Connecticut to Tennessee when I was 11 years old. I was a full on metal head & could not stand country music. Almost pushing 50, I want to appreciate country music for what it is but holy hell that was horrible.
Misery grim and misery too trad country for my tastes.
Country music. I don't generally like Country music and this album does nothing to change that opinion.
Sounds like quite generic boring country music to me. It's clear that this album (among quite a few others) wouldn't have been on this list if it weren't an American listing.
Certified carbage
awful
Nope.
country NÃO
No
Proper old fashioned country music, by which I mean it’s really depressing.
Not my cup of tea.
never again
I hate country omg im so sorry george
Country is as country does.
I really just couldn’t get into this. Didn’t even listen to the entire album.
I don't hate country, I don't even dislike some of the old schoolers, but George Jones crosses all my lines. His wife, Tammy Wynette, love her. Fun fact, one of the co-writers of The Grand Tour divorce song title track married Tammy after their D-I-V-O-R-C-E.
5 seconds in…. I think I hope this album is short. Kori will hate it. Complaint tally : 9 “This the album of the day? That’s unfortunate.” “Man country sucks” “You’re going to have to add to your tally Kerri, this is rough” “[running an ultramarathon] would be easier than listening to this” “Fuck it’s so bad” “I don’t get how people like this, country music is awful” “Like it isn’t even music” “I gotta listen to it before I die but it might kill me” “Good” (in response to me saying I think we’re almost done) I also didn’t like it but I do typically enjoy country thanks to the solid diet of exclusively country music I was fed as a child. It just didn’t feel like anything exciting or stand out.
I’d give this 0 stars if I could. Country music is so bad
< The Beatles The very kind of country i hate
Slow, plodding mid-paced 70s country... if you know you know and sadly I do! Thank god it was only 28 minutes long!
Not my thing at all
No.
This mostly disappeared into the background noise of the world and I forgot it was there entirely. It's not for me, too twangy by far.
Boring country
ooeee... ik heb het lastig... ooeee... ik ben triestig....ooeee... ik ben alleen... ach vent, jankt op een ander!
Country, 32eme album =>1/5
Only a 28 minute album, and I couldn’t finish it. Total snooze
I didn’t hate this but it’s not my thing at all
Country music is abominable.
Hvis det kommer mer cuntry og muricana nå, så klikker jeg. Dette funker bare i kontext av en Coen-film.
This lowkey pissed me off. Felt insufferably long and it’s only 28 minutes.
The first song was the nice. The rest was a slog to get through and just felt boring.
I try to give everything a fair listen, but this did nothing for me.
Two verses in and I caught my self standing on a bucket with a rope in my hand😥
Quite possibly the worst county album on this list
Not my thing. I don't like the twang of country music. At least this was short.
sorry can't do cuntry yes cunt-try. Just not a fan. Sorry George
With some albums it's literally down to you liking or not the genre, because theres no step out of it. To me this is the epitome of lame music
I do not enjoy this genre. I couldn't finish it.
Rólegt kántrí. Leiðinlegt. Get ekki einu sinni reynt að tengja við einhverja texta í svoleiðis rugli.
Anyone who knows me knows I hate country music. I do like some old country like Johnny Cash and Patsy Cline. This old country was too country-y for me. Didn’t like.
Whingy white music
This exemplifies the stereotype of the crying drunk country song. The first song is particularly maudlin.
I can’t imagine why this guy was divorced 3 times. If this is one of the “Kings of Country”, Country is going to get a lot of 1 star reviews from me. Every single god damn song is about some cheating, promiscuous woman, or him cheating on someone as well. I can’t stand his Country drawl, the simple guitar playing, lyricism, or really anything else. At 28 minutes, this was actually hard to get all the way through. One of 2 albums so far I only got through once without attempting to listen to again. I could not wait to turn this off. May God give me the strength to get through whatever mid Country album I roll next, because I foresee a lot of 1’s and 2’s in the future.
Oof. (9/100)
Fun fact - I do not like country.
A truly horrifying experience.
I don’t know who this guy is, but his music sucks. I would love to party with him though.
Does anyone outside of the US rate country? Folk music across is very cultural in the same way I wouldn't expect someone from Kentucky to understand the Wurzels
Kind of see above really, except that this one was a little shorter (so better), but didn't have a noticeable highlight. I really just think that the genre needed one, maybe two at a push albums from mardy men telling us about their hard lives or whatever, but accidentally spawned three million, all of which are on here.
such small horizons
Couldn't get through this one...
Лучшая песня - The Grand Tour.
I don't care for this type of country music.
When scouring the charity shops for CD bargains the largest majority of CD’s for sale all have album covers like this. So I quickly flick past them without giving them a second thought. Sometimes without a thought at all now that I become adept at sorting the wheat from the chaff. A silly practice I know as I’m in danger of missing a gem. But as this album cover depicts you know exactly what you will get from the CD and why it needs ignoring. American Country Music means nothing to me in my UK northern environment and I know of no one in my circle of friends who would disagree. Although I did share a bedroom in a hostel with a fellow recruit when I was 17. Despite my love for Hendrix, Genesis, Yes etc which was also shared by most of the other guys in the hostel, my bedroom mate did have an unhealthy love of Country Music. Don’t recall him liking George Jones but I’m sure he must have been on his radar. So whilst listening to this today it was nice to recall Phil (that was his name) singing Jim Reeves songs at the top of his voice and 18 other lads shouting at him to shut the fuck up. Which in my view George should have done before cutting this album. 1/5 8/6/25
This collection of tunes is like a flavor of tea that I just don't like. I can see why others might love it, but I just could not get into it. I am glad that it existed to bring the great country that is being made today, but nothin I would ever return to. 2/10
Please, not for me, absolutely no country... This is something that will make me die if I have to listen to it! So yes, I think it's apropriate to say that with a record like this on this list, if you're not dead afterwards you'll survive pretty much anything :-/
This guy has a billion albums, bet they all sound like this
Way too country for me, I find the typical male country singing voice to be grating
I haven't given a 1* for ages but maybe it's time to break that duck. This is just bland.. slow tempo, generic lyrics and the amount of slide guitar! I quite like that sound sometimes, but it's a trick he clearly liked and repeated endlessly. It gets old fast I confidently predict when I finish all 1089 albums and scroll back through, I will not remember this at all
Old school country. Still not for me.
It’s hard to explain how much I hated this album! “She told me so” is especially bad. I was 12 when it came out, but have never heard of him.
The average person gets to spend roughly 38 million minutes alive on the planet Earth. During those minutes you have the opportunity to invest your time with loved ones, creating new things, doing productive work, and enjoying art. Somewhere along the way, a mistake happened and country music was created. I've spent 28 of my minutes suffering through this album, but you don't have to. Please take this review as a warning. Call your Mom. Do anything else. It's too late for me, but not for you.
Latte
Slow, depressive old-school country. This is a 28 minute long album but it's dragging on and on.
i can appreciate it for what it is and what it probably did for country music, but this one just ain’t for me. 1/5 only because it made 28 minutes feel like a long time. sorry george jones :(
I reflexively dislike country music but I gave this a fair chance and it was shit
This is more of a schlager than a country record. But aside from that, this is not what country music is about.
Meh, country music. Not a bad voice but I just don't enjoy country that much.
Was excited when I got the album, but couldn’t have cared less about it just a few songs in. Either he cheated on her, or she cheated on him, or she’s cheating on her husband with him, or she’s just plum left him and gone. Boring
Country folk music, not for me
This is what you hear when you turn on AM radio and your girlfriend just broke up with you. 28 minutes of torture
11 songs in 28 minutes....the huge hit The Grand Tour was a snooze, the rest was....worse.
At least it was short!
Could not listen to this album directly but heard on several 'greatest' hits. Not really my thing. 1 star.
Took me a while to get to this because it's not on Amazon music, had to get most of it from youtube. Don't think Jeffrey B has done many positive things but I appreciate him trying to save me from this album. Croony slow country, is there a worse genre. The songs were mercifully short but they are all one verse and chorus so even the two minute runtimes are a pisstake.
Not great this - doesn't work. Incredibly dated.
Thought this was pretty terrible. Country just doesn't do it for me
Drab dogshit, shut the fuck up you whiny bastard
The only good thing about this album is that it was short.
Way too much disgusting twang. 1.3 stars
No…
This is #day83 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudie challenge, and... I wonder what the percentage of country music on this list is... Country is in my top 3 worst genres now. What else is there to say? Ah, wait. It's a 1 out of 5. Again. Looking forward to #day84.
Ja nee dit is niks
Modern technologies made it possible to save some who would not have made it just fifty years ago. Sadly, even with 8 parallel subway surfers videos lined up in a osu! world cup manner, this one is still beyond saving Time of death, 1:49
Was in the mood to listen to sex-music and this album has not once been fucked to by anyone
Blergh
No va
Just not my thing at all
Did not click at all with this one.
Gear: Focal Clear (ZMFed) Artwork: 🏜 Mix: 🆗 Musik: 🐂💩🐂 Wertung: 💩/5
Fucking terrible
There can't be many more country albums left on this list, surely?
You know those arsehole country singers from The Blues Brothers? Them.
🥱
Country
You can hear what this sounds like, just by looking at the cover. Why did she leave you George? Have a look at yourself? Sit in that chair and think about why she loves the one she's with, George. Is it all that time with your Borrowed Angel? "I'm dysfunctional, maybe I cheat. Probably a drunk to boot. But I can't understand why my wife left me. We had some good times didn't we. I guess I'll never understand, let's have some whisky" Sing that in a voice like baritone chocolate, with some steel guitar. It'll save you 28 minutes. One star, for Mary.
Country sucks.
Hmm not for me. Very twangy with lots of slow love ballads.
Just another day with another country album...let's go to listen to it and then forget about it tomorrow. The last song was almost enjoyable and resembles a bit of Johnny Cash.
Boring old generic country twang. No hits.
Yee haw, howdy howdy, yuck
Like an old cheeseburger left out in the sun.
Kann man vermutlich nur als weißer US-Amerikaner verdauen. Da fehlt mir einfach das entsprechende Enzym.
One of the thing I like best about doing this is the little buzz of anticipation I get just before clicking ‘Vote’. Oooh what will today bring??? “Oooooohh SHIT. OFF”
I mistakenly thought Jones was the musician whose song killed the Martians in Tim Burton’s Mars Attacks! I was wrong, although it would’ve been appropriate. I appreciate the inclusion of some Nashville Sound country music which I otherwise don’t get much exposure to. But Jones just doesn’t do it for me, there’s other similar musicians out there with a much more palatable and even impressive sound: Glen Campbell, Tammy Wynette, Charlie Rich, even Dolly Parton has similar music that just sounds sooo much better. At least this is under 30 minutes.
Grew up in mostly rural Colorado where you’d walk into a barbershop or a restaurant and hear music like this on in the background. Didn’t like it then and don’t like it now.
Too much dobro…
😴
This is awful. Every song sounds the same. I wanted to hope there'd be any likeness to Cash or Williams but his voice is mushy and over sentimental without payoff. Sorry bro. 1 Star
Not my vibe at all
meh
Too country. 1/5
Dit is echt prut, nummers niet interessant, productie ook 13 in een dozijn. Weinig afwisseling
I've finally stumbled across the worst album on the list!
Lying, cheating, and drinking. Songs to represent our Country. Never really liked country, but ol George Jones has some entertaining songs, I’ll give him that.
I’m will never like country music. This album seems to consist of every hackneyed cliche that makes me despise the genre. Burn it with fire.
Ain't no way this released after dark side of the moon. Obviously people love different music but this seem so behind and non interesting or unique.
How ???????
I do not care for old, twangy country music; and this sounds like the oldest, twangiest country of them all.
So so so so so so bad.
Oh dear. Just so dull. Very very country and it all sounds the same. Some poetic lyrics and he has a good voice but I have no interest in coming back to this.
I can absolutely recognise that George Jones is a giant of country music, and The Grand Tour is often held up as one of his finest records. Going into it, I knew I was stepping into classic 70s country storytelling at its purest. It just is not really my thing. There is no denying the quality of his voice. It is rich, controlled and full of emotion. The title track in particular is a masterclass in heartbreak and delivery. You can hear every ounce of pain in the phrasing, and the production is polished without losing that traditional country feel. But as a full album, it does not quite connect with me. The themes are heavy on sorrow and domestic heartbreak, and while I can respect the craft, I never feel truly drawn in. It is beautifully performed, just not something that fits naturally with my taste. I can see why it is revered, and for fans of classic country this will be essential listening. For me, though, it is more admiration than enjoyment. Favourite song: The Grand Tour Least favourite song: She’ll Love the One She’s With Album artwork: Very much of its time. Simple and classic country styling
I just can't
No thanks.
Suffered a bit from being the day after EmmyLou. “If she’s not with the one she loves, she’ll love the one she’s with.” Painful. Track to listen to again - Nope.
Waiting room for the next album
Så plat amerikaner gøgl. Simpelt og uinspireret
Country music has evolved so much and has left this album so far behind it could be buried with a stegosaurus!
Not my cup of tea
Surprised punk didn’t happen immediately after the release of this record.
When I started using this site, I did so with the hope of exploring more styles of music. One of the unfortunate aspects is that it has merely reinforced my prejudices againsy certain type of music. I am not fond of Country music, and this album seems to represent everything I dislike about it. For me.
The literal first few seconds of this was enough to tell me it's not for me. The most country of country. Nope.
1.4/5 country
When we go back to classic country, all i can hear are the parody songs mocking the genre. I guess this is a good example of this sound, but i just didn't like it.
Godawful. I can appreciate old country, but this ain't it. Every single song was a variation on "love ma darlin'". The one (maybe 2?) upbeat songs were almost tolerable, but the rest was unbearable. I went into it open to awarding a star for the slide guitar, but there wasn't a lot of it, and what was there wasn't very good. Listening to this album actually put me in a bad mood.
I ALREADY RATED THIS YOU IDIOTS
Really did not enjoy. I know some people love this kind of stuff, but it’s just a wash of twangy country over my head without any of the substance that makes other country albums at the least interesting or at most incredible. Not my lane at all, never will be going back to this. Much better, much more inventive country out there if I’m ever in the mood.
Not as long as the hole in my arse points down will I listen or give credibility to this style of mournful hick country music. Need a frontal lobotomy to sit through this one.
Not my cup of tea. If you were close minded and had no outside contact with society for decades, and this was the only album available, it would be acceptable. 1.9/5
Yes, Virginia. There is something worse than gangsta rap.
Simply not my thing at all
Couldn't do it.
Cowboy shit
Fuck this guy
Genres: Country Formed: 1959 Run time: 11 songs, 28 min 41 sec It’s what you’d expect from 70’s Country. It isn’t my cup of tea (and never will). Whinging about what you’ve lost, instead of asking yourself what you did wrong and how to put it right. Self-pity probably did it for 70’s listeners, it won’t hold a modern audience. My Rating: *
Naahh
It's country and it is twangy. It's a one.
Not for me, I couldn’t finish this one.
Psychopath music. Ruined my day.
Country wank
Not a fan - tolerable.
I did not like this. It felt bad giving it a one, but it also felt bad to listen to. You reap what you sow.
Slow sad songs about women, slow happy song aboiut women. Meh
luckily for me i couldn't find the full album on yourtubes. i could only find the title track and about 30 seconds of that was more than enough. comfortably the least i've listened to an album on here and i couldn't give a fuck because fuck country music.
One word review: SHIIIIIIIIIT
Sad old country man: the album. Gotta be grandpa mikes favorite
I can appreciate some of these George Jones / Tammy Wynette duets (had expected a George Jones / Tammy Wynette album in the list) but this album is just too boring.
I despise country, but I’ve never listened to older country (because I don’t like the genre), so hopefully it will be better than modern country. Reminds me instantly of the songs I didn’t like from the Fallout New Vegas soundtrack. Not looking forward to the rest. I’m just glad it’s short, because it’s exactly what I was expecting from country. Do not recommend. Just stereotypical country. Fav Track: none 1/5
If I could give this grand tour a trip advisor review it would not be flattering.
I've really tried to be open-minded with every county album so far, and I swear there are country albums that I like, but this was just so tedious
My most despised genre is Country & Western. Apart from Dolly Parton, because, well...she's Dolly Parton.
That's a no from me
I'm sure if I liked country at all I could have some appreciation for this album but I just hate the twangy vocals and the songs we're very boring. The song tempos felt like he was trying to avoid a speeding ticket.
Old school country. That type of music I always imagined farmers listened to. Not my style.
Ye-hah. No
Not my favourite genre.
This is not for me. I do love lap steel though.
muck
Again, not one for the ages. Miserable subject matter, in a musical style that isn't my favourite. Just getting to the end of this now, and been tempted to tell him to pull himself together at least four times over the last half hour. This is my first 1.
Yeah, I'm passing on this one. I managed two songs, but country really isn't my thing.
Det är för deppigt att de svarta fick blues medan vi fick.. detta?
Mikið þótti mér þetta leiðinlegt
I could tell just by looking at him that I would hate this album, but I clicked to open it anyway. Spotify's algorithm will unleash severe consequences. Fothermucker!
Lots of dreary vocals that hang tortured to the end. Why do so many old love songs just sound like the diary of a creep?
It's country.
Dit is niet te harden zeg! Wat een gezever: You got more love in your little finger than all the rest!
Not for me
I feel asleep after the first song
Same as At Folsom Prison. I hated it. Country music just isn't for me.
Baaad!
Not terrible, it's old people country. 1.5 if I could. more honest than Odelay.
not for me
Dicknose Carrey Does It Again
Country pop-ish, was not really a fan but it often needs to be exceptional for me to like it in the genere in general, liked that it was short
