Very prodi

Peak 90's dance music. Great beats, inventive sampling. Smack My Bitch Up, Breathe, Diesel Power, Funky Shit, Firestarter

musically very interesting ! some right bangers on this

Findet irgendwie jeder cool. Ich auch.

Has one of my least favorite and all-time favorite songs on the same album. I can’t pretend I’m not a manwhore for a breakbeat. All the noise in my ears makes my brain buzz. Howlett’s sample game is so strong.

This is outrageous, this is contagious Sooo futile If this was not an inspiration for Jeremy from peep show, i don't know what was

Good album. Reminds me of Chicago underground in the mid-late 90's.

How do you not like this?

Plenty of fun and incredible album art

The Prodigy’s seamless blend of EDM with punk, rock, and hip-hop elements was a real achievement on "The Fat of the Land." I couldn’t remember the last time I listened to the album—or whether I’d ever actually sat down and played it straight through—but revisiting it was far more enjoyable than my memory had suggested.

Man this is great. The up-tempo, aggressive electronica just creams my twinkie. This is stuff that just makes you want to move. The album flows really well. They pepper in the bangers at the right spots so the lesser tracks don't pull the listening experience down.

I do very dangerous things when I listen to this album.

Great album, takes me back to the early 2000s!

In terms of British techno, this has to be one of the best albums I have listened to. Knew a few of these songs probably from other samples. Breathe was definitely in a video game that I played growing up but cannot find an answer for it. Shoutout to the cool ass crab on the album cover, he rules. Still not my favorite type of music but this album had me bumping.

Ah yes, all our parents favorite song "Smack My Bitch Up." I'm really enjoying this more than the last Prodigy album we had. Making me want to run through a wall. Loving the middle eastern vibes on Climbatize. Bassline is pretty sick. I enjoyed that way more than I thought I would. Low 4.

Actually listened to this fairly recently after watching a Halloween cover set of theirs. This album is great, very of its time I think, but still stands up today as some of the best radio frienu industrial tinged electronic music. Such a vibe.

Some iconic tracks here but overall I was surprised that as a whole the album is pretty boring.

Great tracks, I really enjoyed this. The album cover reminded me of crab rave but man did this album really captivate me. I always loved old school EDM as they influenced later artists that I also enjoy.

Nices Album Cover. Gute Musik

Loud and bombastic, this album doesn't hold back. Firestarter is obviously the stand out song, an absolute classic

Excellent album, a real music changer back in the day, awesome - Firestarter

The Fat of the Land isn’t really my jam, but I can’t deny how cool it is. The beats get repetitive, yet those counter-melody vocals keep everything moving with just enough variety. It’s big, loud, chaotic fun — and honestly, when my alt-FM station throws on ‘Firestarter,’ I’m not changing the dial.

I know singles but have never listed to a whole album. This was fucking great. I don't think of The Prodigy as a band I would listen to but I have seen them live twice and both times were incredible.

Legend!

The Prodigy är riktigt jäkla coolt.

hrll yeah

Amazing piece of electronic music. The sampling in this album is top tier. I genuinely don't know how people have the ability to stretch, warp, manipulate specific samples to fit so cohesively with each other. Obviously this album has the bangers everyone knows but the other tracks definitely deserve a proper listen too. Can see how this album could have laid the foundations for future releases in the electronic/punk/rock crossover such as pendulum, skrillex or chase & status. Iconic.

I don’t know if I can give this a 5 when I only gave jilted generation a 4. The highs are higher but there are a couple of lows / too long songs.

Feel like the consensus was this dropped off compared to Jilted Generation, but I think it's still really good

Loved this, great album!

Mixed feelings. Like the crab. You can't help but be caught up in the aggressive energy, but it makes me feel kind of...dirty? Lol maybe I need to be more open minded. I may come back to this

This is outrageous, this is contagious

Banger. The energy in this album is incredible. This album should appeal to a wide range of fans blending trance dance and rock into one dynamic cacophony.

I was massively into The Prodigy when this was released, following their brilliant sophomore Music for the Jilted Generation. And this really landed in '97, the band opting to move out of their rave and techno beginnings to incorporate elements of more traditional dance music, big beat, rock, punk and hip-hop,. But in the wake of their most successful period, I lost interest in them just a few years later with the follow up to this, Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned where they really leaned into the electro-punk style that had begun with the rise of Keith from dancer to frontman and I didn't return until Invaders Must Die, released over a decade after this. During that time, beyond the singles which you hear everywhere, I hadn't listened to The Fat of the Land and I still really haven't. It's a good album and it deserves to be on here for the capturing of the zeitgeist of the latter half of the 90s and there's some great tracks on here but they tend to be overplayed and the rest of the album dips, especially in its latter half. That'w despite it featuring the smash single Firestarter; iconic for sure, largely based around that video but I was never a huge fan and found it a bit simplistic and then grossly overplayed. If I'm reaching for a Prodigy album, there's 3 I'd choose over this but there's enough quality to return to it, even if it's not held up as well I'd hoped.

I loved this album as a teen. Turn it up loud for the bass. I remember the Prodigy being seen as the next big thing for music in general, alongside (or was it after?) Radiohead. The energy and key tracks stand up well.

A quintessential edm album with some very famous songs of the genre. Found myself bopping away whilst listening.

a classic infectious and banging if a bit one note

Not as good as Music For but still has some great tracks and equally nostalgic

Awesome!

Fun electronic album that takes me back to my teenage years

uhhh, kenn nur firestarter und omen vo ihne (bi omen han ich erst vor 3 jahr ussegfunde, dass das lied vo ihne isch und han jahrelang s metalcore-cover devoo glost. find s cover aber immerno besser😭) living off the fat of the land mussi sofort ah of mice and men denke hahah smack my bitch up isch abgseh vom titel undem chli komische orientalism teil no hard wnl breathe auno en banger sither laufts eifach chli aber finds no geil zum chli poste entsorge und so, es isch halt chli monoton aber gaht ebe scho au ab THIS IS DANGEROUS firestarter isch SOO en banger papa roach het das e ziit lang live gspielt hahaha chanmer vorstelle, dass s album am stuck chli ahstrengend chan werde, aber will ichs chli mit underbrüch gloset han, hanis na es verhältnismässig villsiitigs album gfunde v.a. live/eifach LUUT stell ichsmer extrem geil vor de "punk"-teil findi jz rein musikalisch weniger offesichtlich, hii und daa e e-gitarre machts nanig punk ABER vom vibe (und amigs gsang und perkussion) cheggi halt s punk-label trz?

I remember really enjoying this album in school

While this is a great album that propelled The Prodigy into the big leagues I'm more a fan of Music for the Jilted Generation myself

Teetering on 5. A tense, electronic album with perfect production and pacing. Having vocals on most tracks keep me engaged throughout and the singles brought back memories of a great era. Breathe with me!

Great record.

SMACK MY BITCH UP. mt insano, superestimulado do melhor jeito possivel. segunda parte do album comeca a ficar meio repetitivo.

Melhor do álbum: "Smack My Bitch Up". Pior do álbum: "Fuel My Fire".

Não tem jeito, Smack My Bitch Up é MUITO foda.

Never heard of artist or band coming in, so limited expectations. First song is the type of song you’d hear on an early 2000s sports video game, reminds me of childhood. EDM before EDM. Good opener. I don’t even know what genre this is but I think I like it. Second song is good too, they just throw sounds together but it works. Great guitar on both, subtle but great. Diesel power 🔥🔥🔥. Funky shit is good stuff too, it’s like new age jazz. Had no idea they were making music like this in the 90s. Great transition into serial thrilla. Good song not great. Another cool transition into mindfeilds, right of the bat I can tell this is a good song. Beat is sick. Narayan is very interesting, kind of dark but again good music, but a lot of build up of a lack luster beat drop. I think I’ve heard fire starter before? Stadium song, at least the intro. This song is awesome. No more notes needed. The Climatize guitar/bass wow. Whole song in general again is just really good. Biggest critique is that it could’ve closed with a better song. Overall a really good album that I will listen to again. 4.2 stars.

3.5 I listened to this while doing my monthly brain-dead data entry. I felt like I was in a late 90's hackers movie for a second. Solid album

What makes this album all the more impressive is that Liam Howlett recorded this in his home studio. The balance of loudness with clarity of sound is extraordinary. It should be admired for that alone. But beyond that, it is just a brilliant piece of techno, aggro dance music. It captures a time jn a lot of ways. That includes the first track - which I skip every time. The lyric/title is gratuitous and their dismissal of the problematic nature of it doesn’t fly for me. Every other track is impressive to me.

What an absolutely banging album. The middle of Narayan sent me on a wild trippy ride. 8/10

Been a while since I listened to this album. Forgot how "high-energy" it was from start to finish. Lots of fat beats and attitude. Great combination!!

Iconic - remember when Firestarter was released. Loved it then, love it now.

Smack My Bitch Up is definitely a classic and the rest of the album is pretty enjoyable. Breathe and Firestarter are jams, too. I think if I were in high school and listening to this, I might have blown out a 12-inch subwoofer and vibrated my mirrors off. It hits pretty hard. Diesel Power might be my favorite song and I had never heard it before. Pretty solid album, electronic but rock sounding. A little repetitive at times, but definitely bobbed my head throughout.

Banging techno album. Would give it 4.5 stars if possible.

I can still remember tuning in weekly to watch "Top 30 Hits" on Irish television (RTE Network 2). The black and white "Firestarter" video with Keith Flint is one of my earliest memories. I was fascinated. Nearly 3 decades later this shit still bangs. Got to see them once before Flint passed away and that was wild. 4/5.

BANGERS but tend to sound the same as time goes on but its dancable 4/5

3.8 Way better than the title suggests. The crab did not disappoint.

Not something I would think I would normally like. Good Stuff though.

oh yes

Ok I was ready to hate on this because I typically don't care for electonica, with soem notable exceptions. But this is a great groove.

Banger after banger after banger.

FUCK YES this is like if every game on the og xbox was turned into album. idk if that makes any sense but that's the best way i can explain this album

Awesome. Very fun and nostalgic.

Ég umbreyttist í tánings Lindu sem var að sjálfsögðu algjör töffari!!! Mikil nostalgía

Glæsileg plata. Frábær lög en flest aðeins of löng. Þess vegna fær hún 4 stjörnur en ekki 5.

Vraiment banger

This is such an unexpected banger so many ways ive heard these songs without knowing it came from here

"Firestarter" stands out, especially since it was used as the intro theme for Norm Hitzges' show on KTCK The Ticket. While electronic music isn't my usual genre, I recognize that The Prodigy are considered one of the most influential groups. The overall feel of the album can be repetitive to me, but it's well-suited to run mindlessly in the background. If you're looking for something to add energy to your background, without demanding too much attention, this album fits.

Interesting meeting of genres, this album is pretty stacked with hits. Some great textures and sounds to be had here.

Two pleasant surprises in a row after being accustomed to being unpleasantly surprised by the deep unpleasance of full albums of artists that I was never that into (ie RHCP, Motorhead). Not necessarily something I'd put on the old turntable but if I were the kind of person that went to gyms where they blare music, this is better than 90% of what they play.

Every track has great loops and beats but they ultimately suffer from the same fatal flaw: they repeat too much for too long Still, for its time, the production value is great and the sound must have been mesmerizing. This album also played a special role in my teenage years (a decade after it was released) so I’m willing to forgive some flaws.

Better every listen

Du classique, du mythique <3

Best Song: Firestarter I was stuck between a 4 or 5 and went with 4 simply because the relistenability of this is only when in a certain mood. A great 90s album full of bangers. 4/5.

Ah, the promise of 90's Electronica. It never hit as predicted but it was fun while it lasted. This kind of aggressive almost dangerous techno infused with big hip-hop beats, rock, and more is a solid album.

Not an album to think too hard about, Fat Of The Land is wall to wall bangers. This is some techno that has a little crossover appeal with the metal and punk worlds, The Prodigy just approach the genre (big beat in particular) with so much visceral energy and muscle. And they manage to keep this energy through songs that could be a little repetitive or annoying. But the grooves go deep enough, the drums hit hard enough, and the vocals are powerful enough that it works. I have very few complaints: I guess Smack My Bitch Up wasn’t exactly made in the best of taste, but so little is communicated verbally that I have a hard time staying mad. Aside from that there may be a couple songs that drag a little bit, but there aren’t any skips. This is most likely the peak of it’s microgenre and pretty much essential listening.

This is a banger, featuring some absolute classics.

The Prodigy are legendary, and this is probably their best album. The grooves on here are insane, truly some of the best electronic music to come out of the UK.

Great album!

I knew the opening track. I would never have voluntarily put this on, but now I might. It’s pretty good. For some reason I want to hate it and I don’t know why. Buts it’s too much fun to hate. 😂 Serial Thrilla has a great groove!

An unexpected 4 for me. The first track is clearly problematic and I rather it wasn't there even if the music behind it is good the lyrics were bad then and have aged poorly. But ultimately I have to go on the quality of the rest of the album and it really encapsulates the rave sound of the time.

Album I listened to many times, but not a classic by any stretch

Damn. Makes me want to smack my bitch

A classic!

It only took 32 days, but we’ve finally arrived at an album that I actually own a copy of! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve given The Fat of the Land a spin and I’m super into breakbeat at the moment, so I went full poggers when I saw that this LP as today’s assignment. Weirdly, I don’t honestly have that much to say about TFOTL. It’s just sick breaks with pretty memorable hooks! Every track is distinct, but also feels like it belongs alongside the other tracks. The album is also a tight 10 tracks and there really aren’t any stinkers in the bunch. I guess the only bit of negativity I feel about this project is that the songs are fairly long and generally pretty repetitive, so if you’re not feeling a specific idea, it’s going to get old real fast. I’m very used to repetitive dance music and even I felt like some of the tracks went on a smidge too long. That aside, The Fat of the Land is a great listen and a perfect time capsule for late 90s rave music. Keith Flint really shines here too – rest in peace, twisted firestarter. Highlights: Smack My B**ch Up, Breathe, Funky Sh**, Narayan, Firestarter

YOU WOULDN’T DOWNLOAD A CAR

Overall this album is front and backloaded with some amazing songs. The 1-2 punch of SMBU and Breathe is hard to beat. And Narayan though to Fuel my Fire is a strong way to finish. Issue is the songs in the middle are a bit of a step down. However, can’t deny the strength of those other tracks. Huge amounts of energy throughout. RIP Keith.

🗯 Testosterone-fuelled electro mayhem — glowsticks, ecstasy, breakbeats, and danger in every drop. The Prodigy’s third album was their world-conquering moment, the first with Keith Flint up front in full firestarter mode. Three utterly perfect singles (‘Firestarter’, ‘Breathe’, ‘Smack My Bitch Up’) turned them from rave outsiders into global icons — the dangerous face of turn-of-the-century electronica. Listening now, it’s like stepping into a skanky London nightclub circa 1997: sweat dripping off the walls, dancers still going after a days-long trip, the air thick with drugs and big beat bravado. It’s one part Kool Keith’s scatological genius, one part Rage Against the Machine-style intensity, all funnelled through beloved samplers and Liam Howlett’s brain-melting beats. Sure, it sounds of its era — but honestly, not much holds a glow stick to a massive big beat banger in full flight and this record mostly holds up. Dangerous then, nostalgic now, still pretty damn irresistible. Verdict: Essential (if only for remembering when dance music terrified your mum) For fans of: The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Rage Against the Machine, sweaty basements and strobe lights.

Total banger of an album.

This one was a pleasant surprise, as I never really liked the Prodigy. I think as a kid I found them a bit scary, cause of the Firestarter video. A pretty decent album, if a bit repetitive. But that's the point, I guess, as the album decent seem to be made for sitting down and listening. Punky attitude and very much Johnny Rotten inspired from Keith Flint. I was also surprised that there was a more standard rap track! The drums were very much the highlight! I got lessons at BIMM from the Prodigy's live drummer! 3.5 again but I'll give it a 4, as it was also better than the other 3s.

It’s great but very of its time. Doesn’t hit like it did in the nineties unfortunately.

Holds up.

Like it didn't love it. Great for a dance party though.

A fun album with a touch of punk that I enjoy now more than when it was first released. 4/5

Cool 90's vibe

Bockt aber bisschen lang 4/5

A very solid good time is all I can describe this album as. I've certainly heard better electronic albums on this list but this one jams thoroughly as well. In contrast with many albums on this list, this album is feels backloaded, with the second half being a lot more enjoyable to me than the first.

it's giving the background music in the bring it on sequels

Stands up pretty well, especially if you were alt in the UK in the 90s/00s.

hell yeah

really awesome can tell it has influenced alot

Listened to it once and then most of it a second time. This was solid. Energetic but not over the top. Some standout tracks. There is a little nostalgia factor here as my brother had this album when we were kids. 3.5 but on the 4 side.

CRAB RAVE GUY???? it's not but I respect the image

Ah, The Podigy. If you're a person of a certain age you may remember Wipeout on the PSX with a pretty great soundtrack including music from The Prodigy. Great samples and synth sounds layered for maximum ear candy.

This isn’t really an album review, I just want to say that The Prodigy are amongst the best live performers I’ve ever seen. I hadn’t listened to them much at all when they came on stage at T in The Park in 2015 and their set blew my mind, so much energy. I went to see them again that same year, where they were supported by Public Enemy. I still wouldn’t say their my favourite group or that I’m into this kind of electronic music, but when you’re 18 and drunk and in a field, there’s truly nothing better.

Ok so for some reason I never really got into this, or the Prodigy in general, at the time. I’m still not sure I would have got into it back then but listening to it now I’m regretting not listening to it sooner. So the singles are instantly recognisable but I hadn’t expected to like as much of the rest of it as I did. In fact I think I preferred more of the album tracks than the big hits themselves. Overall a very good record.

This is really good festival dance music. Beyond that, it’s also pretty listenable in other contexts. Varied influences include Rap-Rock (like Rage…). Some parts brought me back to The Matrix I (they were part of the soundtrack). An impressive album I’ll listen to again. A four.

When I was given another The Prodigy album earlier, I decried that it wasn't their smash hit The Fat of the Land, and said I'd give this a 4*. So, it's a 4*. But it earns it. Starts off with the smash hits and keeps the party moving through the run time. This was the peak of electronica in the late 90's. Big time influence, all the hits, and I like it. Sorry, The Prodigy, you lose the 5th star for the lyrics of Smack My Bitch Up and being a hare to monocromatic. 4

Although I know I've heard many times two of their hit singles from this album ("Breathe" and "Firestarter", both with great videos), I'm not sure how I neglected to buy a single Prodigy album all these years, especially because I've always enjoyed this kind of sound from the likes of Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method, even Fatboy Slim. Aside from the aforementioned singles, I also enjoyed "Funky Shit" (with its Beastie Boys reference) and "Mindfields", and was surprised that "Smack my b**ch up" wasn't quite as horrible as the title might suggest (although it's definitely not a title or lyric that was *ever* a good idea, no matter how inflammatory they wanted to be). I'm not entirely sure that we need two Prodigy albums in this collection, but I'm glad we got this one.

I've always found that with a lot of the big UK dance albums of the 90s that they often have really strong singles, but the rest of the album is kind of ok. That really isn't the case for The Fat of The Land which feels absolutely stacked with blistering dance tunes. Even just listening to it at my desk it loses none of its energy and raw power.

Nice surprise - grunge techno that reminds me of 90's. One song features in Charlie's Angels movie.

Explosiv, kompromisslos und stilprägend: The Fat of the Land liefert mit Tracks wie „Firestarter“ und „Breathe“ einen aggressiven Mix aus Rave, Punk und Breakbeat. Ein Meilenstein der 90er.

really good, i like the blend of genres with drum and bass, punk sort of and rap.

big fan of this. another album of theirs, music for the jilted generation, had come up previously which i couldn’t get into as much - but i can see myself getting into this one. some of the bits i really liked were the vocals at the end of ‘smack my bitch up’ (crazy work!!), and the guitar in ‘serial thrilla’. intense but not too intense. also love the album cover, crab rave!!

On the first listen it sounded fun and I would definitely listen to it again or use some songs to study. I liked that the album was consistent with the whole vibe, but the genre was my favourite. For me the album lacked replayability with some songs and I found some parts of songs quite annoyingly repeating. Favourite track was Serial Thrilla. I would rate this album 3.8/5

This was not my scene at all. I was into guitars. But it's great. Very high energy. More aggressive than a lot of other big beat music. It has very little filler, but there is some. Almost 5 star. Favorite song: firestarter

8.4/10. Way better than expected.

This was a really fun album

When I listen to this I feel like the dancing crab on the cover. It just sounds like the sweatiest rave ever that just doesn't stop. Those epic electronic bangers are really my thing. The beats, tempos and grooves are so insane and hypnotic. I wanna go to this guy's concert

One of the top 5 electronic albums.

This was great, refreshing, energetic way different from how I remember it when I originally heard it. Not as doof doof as I thought either.

Love the sound and energy. Lyrics are lacking and the tracks are excessively long and repetative. Still, a solid album.

this album sounds like england to me (derogatory) (complimentary)

can't believe charlie's angels are prodigy stans so now i'm a prodigy stan cause that's all i can think about... my sisters and i were so obsessed we'd watch the movies all. the. time. and then we'd play charlie's angels and our dad was the bad guy we'd fight LMAO he'd hate it so much cause sometimes we got too into it we'd really best him up...... anyway this album took me down memory lane and then the songs kept going and i wasn't too mad! they kinda remind me of ratm like the rock rappy vibes? i hope this makes sense! LMAO ANY I LIKE IT

Overall: 7/10 My first thought when this popped up was "damn, another electronica album!" I was not excited in the slightest. Then a couple tracks in, I realized how much I was actually enjoying this. It's certainly not without It's faults: it's repetitive, it has a couple annoying tracks and it's singles are way better than all the other tracks...but it's also heavy, loud and super fun to listen to. They certainly knew how to make dance music enjoyable outside of the club. I still won't listen to this a ton, as I feel overplaying it could lead to a change in opinion, but I really dig it right now. Fav Song: Breathe

This album was pretty great. Ultimate example of the rave sound of the 90s.

Pretty CEX but ye good

Hard to separate my nostalgia from the objective quality of this album. It makes me move, though

Exciting!

Album I already knew well having seen The Prodigy several times through the years. Highlights for me are Mindfield Narayan Climbatize 8/10

This album slaps. So much fun and energy. It keeps itself fresh while still maintaining the key vibe that the album is going for. First half is better than the second but still a really good album.

I ran to this album. They're a band I've only known for raw aggression. And that snare that sounds like a glass bottle being smashed. The first few tracks ticked all of those boxes. It kept my heart pumping, and while I wasn't hung on every sound (dancing between stereo for a lot of the 'extras'), I did find myself enjoying it. Even if 'Smack my Bitch up!' isn't the most appropriate line (it's gotta be satire, right!). But, between the shouts and angry bpm dittys, I found a really nice mix of different sounds. They veered towards an Asian and Indian sound in various points, 'Mindfields' being a nice break from the shouting and 90s aggressive guitar-over-beats-n-bass. 'Climbatise' was also a welcome addition, and in my opinion, should have been the closer. The Asian drones over the tight bass and arpeggios left a pleasant experience in my head (and provided much needed tempo for my run in the hot Korean humidity!). I probably won't listen so aggressively again, but a solid 4 stars. Wait a minute! Is that a crab on the front?! Can I give it another star for that? Probably not.

I know it

This album kicks ass. It kicked ass when I was 11 and it kicks ass now, which is weird because a lot of stuff I liked when I was 11 seems kinda trite almost 30 years on. I saw someone talk about how this album, unlike similar electronic-adjacent acts, matches the song structure of a pop hit and it's true: it's harder, heavier, more aggressive, but it's ultimately pop music for people who think they're too cool for it (me). This means that if you're amenable to the general sound, this thing will light up those parts of your brain that are lit up by simple sugars. The hit singles are still great, they do the exact same thing they did in 1997, which is less like time travel and more like a timeless sound. That is rare to come across. Here comes the but: as an album, it's just ok. Some of the songs feel like filler which goes hand in hand with it being a little too long. I can forgive that, a little bit, but that means it's not a masterpiece. I love it, but because I love it I have to be honest here: it gets docked a point. Probably two, but if this album had just been smack my bitch up, breathe, and firestarter it would've been an all-timer EP, so I can't relegate it to the middle of bell curve.

I miss the 90s when the alt stations where much more eclectic with rock, grunge, electronics.

Me: This feels like The Matrix. The Matrix Soundtrack: Good job.

This could be easily said to be one of the true landmark albums of the CD album era. Just under an hour of runtime, engulfing bass, era-defining singles and long deep cuts. It’s the epitome of mid-to-late nineties Big Beat. As for the album’s flow, it begins with the double threat of Smack My Bitch Up and Breathe, and with putting any domestic violence connotations of the former aside, they’re both instant classics. You’re then lulled into a hip hop-cum-electronic landscape through track 7, Narayan, where by the end you’ve forgotten what’s next until the iconic ‘riff’ of Firestarter jolts you back. The most interesting thing about the Prodigy for me is how surprisingly universally liked they are. I’ve been surprised by my parents enjoying their overwhelming Glastonbury sets, and even more so by having Firestarter played in my year 10 history class alongside facts about the Reichstag fire. I’m no different, I suppose. I wouldn’t say it’s even up there with the best albums of 1997 (a tough year to compete in), but I sure wouldn’t argue if someone said it was.

A cool hip-hop inspired electronic record. It’s really good!

4 - Intense, but I think I enjoyed as it was in my youth

Voi minun luojani tuo on funkeinta paskaa

Brilliant RIP KEITH FLINT

After hearing the adrenaline filled Dance music from The Prodigy, it totally doesn't suprise me that the nineties ate this up like a big bucket of popping candy. 'The Fat Of The Land' is surprisingly musical. Just a bit too long.

some of these songs so go hard on my dad's car CD player but there are some weak songs towards the end. pure adrenaline in the sense that you feel like you can do anything and then suddenly you wear off and get exhausted

The Prodigy are guilty of stretching certain musical ideas out for far longer than they deserve. Most of these tracks could have been cut by at least a minute. And their faux-edginess is a bit ridiculous at times. Other than that, this is some of the best dance music of the 90s, with plenty of moments of brilliance.

"Breathe" made 18 year old me want to fucking kick down walls.

couple of classics on here for sure

Some absolute tunes on it - loved stomping through the city of London to it, and loading up some spreadsheets. The issue was some of the beats out of the club scene go on too repetitively and long. A few songs I wouldn’t listen to again “narayan” and Climbatize, too long. But over all the other songs hold up the album and really enjoyed the album.

First album I ever bought when I was 11. If I hadn't listened for nearly 30 years I'd probably rate this lower, and like some albums here my tastes have probably changed a bit. As such, I can't give it a 5, but the likes of Breathe, Climbatize (that bass! Which Kula Shaker ruined when they sort of sampled it) and others are great.

I didn’t pay much attention to the lyrics but I like this album way more than I thought I would. I remember them mostly from being on Big Shiny Tunes 2 and I didn’t really like them then (while listening in my teenage room) - but in a club setting this album would be awesome.

One of the few good hip hope artists imho

Really cool fusion of styles. Great workout or cleaning or driving with the windows down music.

Really loved this one

SISISISI THE PRODIGY.

7.5/10->4/5 ELNEGRODETHEPRODIGYELNEGRODETHEPRODIGYELNEGRODETHEPRODIGY

Pues esytá chulísimo el album, no sabía muy bien q esperarme pero me gustó mucho. Debería escucharlo con más atención pq lo escuché mientras leía, pero bueno. Le doy como un 7'5/10

This record was every. where. in the 90s. It's still a good listen and I think with this much time between the releases, this list only needs one Prodigy album. 4/5

Oh I'm looking forward to this one! Classic. Not really my music style but really enjoyable in spite of that

it made me feel like i was in some kind of action movie and i enjoyed every second of it, sounds like a primitive rave scene

So despite this album topping charts everywhere, I missed it. I never explored electronic music much until my bow college-aged son convinced me that I was missing out. When exploring music that is less familiar, I require several listens and I can conclusively say that this is banger. At least for me. I was going to plenty of great grunge and indie rock shows at the time, but this album is me wish I'd explored the race scene more. Unfortunately, the next this old man can do is be grateful that I added a subwoofer to the audiophile setup. I still dig Justice (who I saw with my son several months ago) and LCD Soundsystem more, but it is really fun to see the roots of that with this album. Oh and I sent a link to my son and it has his approval, so I'll probably hear more while hanging with him, so it gets a covered extra star. I'm sure the band will be excited to hear this.

Hope that crab got royalties. 7.5/10

Not sure what I expected, but wow.

The Prodigy are one of those bands that reach across the genre divides to a point where everybody likes them. EDM fans, goths, mums… everyone loves The Prodigy. This album is full of classics and was a joy to relisten to after seeing their recent Glastonbury set. I have a vivid memory of how much each of the videos from this album scared me as a child, but something about them stuck with me and made me fall in love with this album. Gutted I never got to see them with Keith at the helm.

Great, energetic dance music. Still sounds good. Narayan is a bit too long but otherwise still a great album.

Countless bangers on here. Love the hip hop kinda influence

I dig it

Pretty amazing at times. Still too long. Ez 4 5

I think I'm just a permanent sucker for '90s electronica, album is pretty sick, if not a little stronger towards the beginning, as albums like to be Truly they have a style of music with no parallel, unique beyond any possible comparison... i.e. just like the Chemical Brothers! ENCORE!! But does that crab know The Prodigy is calling them fat?

Not gonna lie, I saw this and thought oh boy, another 90s English electronica album. But pleasantly surprised, this is a very cool project. Love the punkiness, aggressive beats, and overall energy of the thing. I always liked Sleaford Mods and these guys seem like a clear inspiration for them. Misogyny on first track is out of pocket, but the album is still banger after banger. Overall definitely a fan of this

Absolute banger of an album. Enough new and old styles to keep longstanding and neophyte fans happy. ‘Mindfields’ is a killer of a track, as is ‘Climbatize’.

High energy

Music to be Fast & Furious to

Goring Primary School Disco 1997 - swathes of red faced boys in Ben Sherman shirts or full football kits use the panda pop induced sweat and excessive Brylcreem to style their hair into 2 spikes in time to go absolutely mental and break out their best Keith Flint impression for Fire Starter. Experience is their best album in my opinion, but Fat of the Land was truly iconic for my pre-adolescence. Two songs with a curse words in the title and cool music videos. Keith Flint’s first track as a vocalist vs a dancer. Globally recognisable and completely superb.

This album has a Punk attitude running through it in spades. It's a very good album that in places is excellent. Put it on, turn it up loud. 4 stars. Would I listen to this again? Yes. Would I buy the album? Yes, I did. 1 "Smack My Bitch Up" (featuring Shahin Badar) - 05:42 - What a groove, then the drums kick in. This is a great song. Few at the time thought this was about promoting the physical abuse of women, especially if you watch the music video. At the time I thought this was a drug reference, which I don't care for, but nonetheless this is a brilliant song. - 5* 2 "Breathe" - 05:35 - Two brilliant songs on the bounce. I bought this as a cd single. Keith Flint is excellent on this. This has a punk attitude with great musicality. "Breath with me" - 5* 3 "Diesel Power" (featuring Kool Keith) - 04:17 - The pace drops a little. Again great samples. Rap vocals can be hit or miss for me but this is good. - 3* 4 "Funky Shit" - 05:16 - Great electronica rhythms and samples. This always made me smile. - 4* 5 "Serial Thrilla" - 05:11 - A straight ahead rock song, with a great riff and driving beat. Flint's vocals are excellent. - 4* 6 "Mindfields" - 05:40 - The electronica intro is excellent. - 4* 7 "Narayan" (featuring Crispian Mills) - 09:05 - Ah Crispian Mills of Kular Shakar. I love the chanting in the breakdown. Nice keyboard melody. - 4* 8 "Firestarter" - 04:41 This is an iconic song. A great video accompanied it. Keith Flint's vocals are brilliant, aggressive and menacing. I believed him when he said he was the "Firestarter" 😊 - 5* 9 "Climbatize" - 06:38 An excellent instrumental. - 4* 10 "Fuel My Fire" (L7 cover; featuring Saffron) - 04:19 A good cover. Straight ahead rock. - 3* Total - 41/50 Average - 4.1

Crab raves dad

I’ve heard a few of these songs before growing up but wouldn’t be able to tell the artist or album. Fun, funky beats

I liked it

This kinda funky and cool

This is an album that comes out all guns blazing. It's the mix where techno and pop meet up for a dirty weekend - both enjoying it at the time and ignoring the grime while always secretly looking back with a fond memory of the tryst but never to be repeated. Best Tracks: Smack My Bitch Up; Breathe; Firestarter

Smack my bitch up Breathe Narayan Firestarter

Love the Prodigy!!

8/10 straight bangers no notes

Banger Album

Distorted electronic chaos - I love it. Forgot how many hits Prodigy had back in the day, but this album certainly reminded me! And I learned that Kool Keith is featured on this record ("Diesel Power")! Really enjoyed this one front to back. It's upbeat, wildly experimental, great rhythm and just the right duration. Very solid record from a very fulfilling era in music history - the 90s may be the best decade ever.

Classic

Not really inclined to listen to this much these days but it is an archetypal banger. These guys were talking over main festival stages all over the place at the time and their sound was absolutely immense. Impressive from Liam, as he seemed to be more or less executing the tunes solo. It's also a bit of a masterpiece of studio engineering. Everything sounds lean, sharp, and loud as fuck. And while to a passerby it might seem quite basic in its intent, I think there's a lot going on in terms of genre mashup and sampling. There are hints of punk, hip-hop, hardcore, trance, and jungle influences all over this. But it becomes its own thing; somehow at once really commercial, but also still undeniably popular with the ravers.

Energetic, chaotic and powerful. The sound is electric (pun intended), and love how well done is the transition between songs. Helps to keep the energy alive. A great album to forget about everything and just have fun.

Overall, some great songs and a solid part of the late 90s music scene. It’s got an overplayed Christmas number one. It’s got a song from The Matrix. A few fillers, but mostly killers.

Fantastic album. Great memories from their concert!

A great album, I really don't like electronic music but his is great Fav song - Firestarter 4/5

Enjoyed revisiting this album.

Prodigy hits hard and doesn’t let up. They’re what you get when punk meets electronic meets thrash. As a general rule, electronic albums are nowhere near as good as the live, transcendent communal experience. Prodigy is no different. They completely destroyed the Mojave tent at Coachella this year—performance, energy and crowd were bonkers. Still, this got me dancing and headbanging. A four

Drove too fast

Fever Dream. A night out on chemistry. You're breaking free and the morning's come. It's a gonzo masterpiece - first person. dutch tilt. tweak, drift, pray for the unbearable high to level back out. Ecstatic scum. Grounded in the anxious baseness of all alleyways and dingy sticky ugly clubs, The Fat of the Land stumbles from the stall: a quixotic adventure in a landscape that is nonsensical, romantic and foreign. Eyelid stretchers. The 56 minute Ludevico. Overture. Take my pitch up, Smack My Bitch Up - sharpen the blades that will swing for Breathe - a prowess exhibition of pulsing descending melody. A promising, throttling, uncompromising start. Reaching Diesel Power, a masterclass in keeping the engine ticking-over as the cadence of Breathe evaporates. We are reminded; unnerved by just how potent what we've bought might be, how magisterial our chemist might be. Horrorstricken by this prospect, our unrelenting trip is not letting up. Beastie Shit. 16ths, Choppy 303, no glide. Haskins pounds digital vellum. I will never be tired again. We hit Minefields and everything changes. Then Narayan, the climatic epitome of what this insanity trip has come to be. It's your cousin's iPod in 2005. What a discovery. But then it’s all over before it could begin. Climatize is the perfect encore. The police arrived and shut it down. Driving home and Fuel my Fire; like some strange acid flashback starring the B52s parodies our nascent 50 minutes of rebirth. Here, somehow in this strange sonic desert, Prodigy made Genesis 45:18 sing. It was outrageous and contagious.

Pretty sick chewnz innit.

I remember a few tracks from when this came out, especially the video for Smack My Bitch Up. I finally listened to the album all the way through and ended up listening to it several times!

Really great, abrasive production Reminiscent of Primal Scream's Vanishing Point and XTRMTR Could do with a little more sonic diversity in the middle

Some absolute belters, but I can't lie I mowed the lawn while listening and it did all become one sound after a while. 4 stars purely for the big hitters though!

This album is really about the music. The lyrics are simple on most songs where phrases get repeated, granted they compliment the music but there is nothing here that tells an involved story with the exception of a rap on “Diesel Power” and “Fuel My Fire”. The beats and mixes of instruments and programming here are engaging, fun, and clever. The album will not relax you but it will allow you to get out your aggression or dance till you are exhausted depending on your mood. I really enjoyed this album more than I thought I would since electronic music is not really my thing. Favorites include “Breathe”, “Diesel Power” (What an amazing rap), “Minefields”, and “Firestarter”

Heard this album many times at the record store. Always liked it. A bit stuck in its time, but then that was my time too. Would be more of a 3 1/2 if we could give half stars.

When this initially came out I didn’t enjoy it, but now I can appreciate some of these bangers “firestarter”, “smack my bitch up”, “breathe” are all popular standouts. Hype beats but it does feel like it all goes at the same BPM and as an album it can feel a bit one dimensional at times. Solid stuff!

RIP KF

Banger

Some day we have to have an honest conversation about the geniuses of sampling. And about the charlatans who pissed in this pool of genius. Liam Howlett, self evidently, is not of the latter category.

Pretty good, not a huge favorite but still an easy listen

The Fat of the Land sounds like pure, peak '90s electronica — loud, aggressive, and totally unapologetic. It captures that chaotic energy of the era with pounding beats and distorted vocals, and somehow it all works. One of the things I liked most was how the songs flow into each other. It’s not just a bunch of singles thrown together — the whole album feels connected, kind of like what Pink Floyd did with The Wall or Dark Side of the Moon. Obviously a different genre, but the same idea: a full experience from start to finish. Favorite song: Fuel My Fire

Classic

Uffff 💯💯💯

Good EDM beyond the edgy, big hit

Interesting electronic album. Good intro to classic rave

THE bubble perc is in the diesel power song, makes me think that it’s part of some sort of old sample pack or drum machine, gotta find it one day. I really like the 303/acid bass use, as it is actually used quite diversely on this - I think. I like also that it’s not horrible techno, there’s actual breakbeats. There’s actually so much diversity with the actual styles on here, some definitely work better than other, like that limp bizkit ass song is not so good. The vocals are generally good and the effects are very creative, as is some of the sampling. A bit repetitive in some areas, but doesn’t feel as annoying as the chemical brothers. Favourite songs: smack my bitch up, diesel power, funky shit, narayan, firestarter, fuel my fire Overall around 7/10

Iconic album - much more than its singles, but they are certainly the standouts. Genre defining and bought about a cultural shift on how dance music was perceived and performed. One of the greatest live acts - was lucky to see them at the peak of this album and it was truly unforgettable!

Some bangers on here. I like it. Climbatize was a surprising find.

Already listened ❤️ I love the crab album BANGERS

Total banger, including two of their most iconic tracks

Interesting punkish techno

Fun upbeat album!

Pretty enjoyable. Could find myself listening to more of them for sure!

JP in grandmas boy would listen to this. I thought immediately it fits in the matrix, only to see theyre on the soundtrack. good music to get in the groove to while working or focusing.

Very cool stuff makes me appreciate the Electronic music a whole lot. 4.5 ish

A quality album of its type, for sure. Something makes it not my thing though; just a bit too much. Musically it's actually pretty great: powerful and exciting. Everyone will "@" me, no doubt, but I'd truthfully prefer it if it was just instrumental, I think because the words bring an additional layer of aggression and "f**k-off-ness" that I think aren't needed! Great beats and energy in the music though, and an extra star for the crab.

A classic!

Pleasantly surprised by this

rave music

Iconic. The songs on this album have been played over and over again in all kinds of media since I was a kid. Not exactly easy listening, but it hits that millennial nostalgia so hard.

Detta låter som den musiken till "You wouldn't STEAL a CAR" hahahaha men jag gillar det det är typ lite gritty lite roligt

4. Good album. Falls off. Not for me. Worth a listen

A good album when your in the mood for it

Brilliant rave album. The illegitimate love child of dance-electronica and metal. I get the controversy about Smack My Bitch Up and that some people take music and lyrics too seriously (the video has a great twist at the end), but for well adjusted, normal people this is just a great dance album. Nearly a 5.

Production: 5/5 Lyricism: 2.5/5 Sound: 4/5 Enjoyment: 3/5 Overall: 3.6/5

Something about this hits so much harder after weeks of milquetoast guitar and jazz albums.

This has been on my listen list for a while, glad to finally check it off! Liked it, would listen again, especially when I need to get shit done.

A L7 cover wins me over every time!

84/100. The Fat of the Land by The Prodigy is a powerful UK big beat and acid techno/hip-hop hybrid that delivers high energy from start to finish. With iconic tracks like "Breathe", the album showcases the group’s aggressive sound and relentless pace. It's consistently strong, maintaining a tight flow and intensity throughout.

Ну с нятежечкой

Finally a good electronic album on this list that is enjoyable to listen to. Gonna take a star off because the first song hasn't been funny in a very long time.

the vaguely middle eastern female vocal on smack my bitch up. running to lose weight for high school wrestling “breeeathe with meh!” lol enjoyed that from start to finish. if five stars means i’m buying it on vinyl, i’ll go 4. i should be on my way to a wendy’s in the back of a sedan someone inherited from their grandma. case logic binder. “crab destructah” (?)

The album cover somehow exactly lets you know what you’re in for, a little weird, pretty bold and very fun! Great music to hang out with

I feel like I couldn't have got this album at a better time. The new Clipping album just came out a few weeks ago, which sees them still going for their signature brand of industrial hip hop, but this time with a very breakbeat influenced sound. That's where this album comes in. The influence that this album has had on the new Clipping album is almost uncanny, and falling in love with that album and then hearing this one so soon after has really made me appreciate it so much more than I likely would have done otherwise.

3 absolute bangers and the rest are pretty decent.

GREAT musical album. perfect running music. fast paced, great drums

Hell yeah. Time for some high energy aggressive dance music. Not heard the deep cuts, but the hits are all bangers. Would call myself an enjoyer of what I've heard from this group. Looking forward to listening. Smack My Bitch Up Starts off with a bit of a strange buildup. Instantly gains a lot of energy once the bass comes in. The repetition makes for a really intense track. The calmer part leading to the switchup adds depth to the track. Having the female vocal part keeps the song interesting before the final repetition of the main electronic part. Great way to kick things off. 4/5 Breathe Absolute classic intro melody. Maintains the energy from the previous song. Amazing effects. Extremely catchy vocals. Simple and easy to follow. The aggessive delivery really adds intensity to the track. The entire song is a highlight. Landmark song in electronic music. Has aged really well. 5/5 Diesel Power Feels darker and almost industrial compared to the previous tracks. The rapping is pretty typical of this type of music from this era. The instrumental improves what's honestly a slightly dated lyrical performance. Still has some swagger to it, remains quite catchy. Decent. 3.5/5 Funky Shit Charming opening synth. Great use of the sample. Quite a trippy track. Builds well upon a simple premise. Could imagine this going hard live. Fantastic groove, almost hypnotic at times. Good. 4/5 Serial Thrilla Was not expecting the rock influence to be so heavy on this track. Vocals almost give me punk rock vibes. Keeps the same high energy throughout the track. Well composed, they manage to keep the track interesting throughout. Good. 4/5 Mindfields Quite a contrasting intro heading into it from the previous track. Strange, dark instrumental. The slower energy is almost welcome at this point. Has an experimental vibe that I didn't expect, but do appreciate. Really crunchy electronics in certain parts. Immaculate vibes, tickles the brain in a satisfying way, while not being overwhelming. Great. 4.5/5 Narayan The opening strays a bit into too familiar territory, it sounds good, but isn't anything special. A bit flat instrumentally. The difference in vocals adds a unique edge to the track setting it apart from the other tracks on the album. The instrumental is growing on me as it evolves. Love the drum beat. Did not expect the chanting, trippy, love the synth and distorted vocals in the background. Goes through many different loops and hurdles, constantly changing the track. An interesting journey. 4/5 Firestarter Fantastic synth riff. Fun drum beat. Great energy yet again. Love how full of attitude the vocals are, the accent adds an extra edge. Instantly recognizable, dancable, fun track that kicks an immense amount of ass. Goes hard. 5/5 Climbatize Did not expect the lighter airier synths. Like how it distorts and twists. Quite strange, like the use of the bass. Honestly builds upon itself into quite an infectious groove. Creates a lot of interesting imagery with its field of sounds. Has some psychedelic elements I really enjoy. Amazingly composed. Fantastic, unexpected favourite. 5/5 Fuel My Fire Really fast paced. Has punk rock vibes. Original take. Really dense and high energy. Love the subtle background synth. Fun to hear a song that's so drastically different from the rest of the album. Decent little cover. Works well as a closer. 4/5 I had a lot of fun with this. Just can't beat the energy. Somehow manages to stay sonically varied while maintaining that consistent blood pumping energy which remains infectious throughout. Even in today's saturated musical landscape I think something like this holds value, and has aged quite well. Nothing quite sounds like the Prodigy. The aggression and the crunchiness alongside the extremely catchy hooks and electronic melodies gives it a unique sound that puts the listener right in the mood to get lost at the nearest rave. The album is pretty consistent quality wise having no real duds, and the moment something is about to get stale the tracklist is set up to change the sound. The only thing keeping this from a full score is that some of the track just lack that little extra something that would pull them over the edge. Final score. 4.5/5, leaning towards a 4/5. Fave track. Climbatize Least fave track. Diesel Power

I haven't listened to this album in a very long time. My first impressions was that It was great. But I listened to it a couple of times over the weekend and liked it a little less each time. It contains some absolute classic song however big chunks of the album are quite forgettable.

I didnt think i would like this album but i really did. i love the big beat sound of overblown drum samples and hardcore prdouction. Especially on "Smack My Bitch Up" which is probably one of my favourite songs of all time with the repreated refrains of the songs title and the ethereal transition from a section of hymns back to the original song is amazing 8/10 Favourite: Smack My Bitch Up Least Favourite: Mindfields

#533. As long as it doesn't have that song where they scream 'give me a ride' that they used for MotoGP for years, I'm down. 4/5: crab

Funky Shit - new to me but liked this one . Some of the transitions are so good. Narayan > Firestarter Enjoyed. Will listen again.

Crazy good eclectic electronic album by a band that really paved its' own way. I appreciate (The) Prodigy for this and will always be a fan. "Smack My Bitch Up" is a wild badass track that makes me feel like I'm in a montage of scenes from The Matrix. "Firestarter" and "Breathe" are also really fun and memorable. My uncle used to listen to this album when he was going to soccer practice / practicing soccer. I remember hearing it a lot with him and thinking it was weird but cool.

Listened back in 2018. Fun memories. This genre doesn’t hold up well.

Oh man, I heard this album hundreds of times during the years I worked and played at lazerzone

A couple of epic songs and a whole bunch of kick ass songs to follow. They really are the epitome of this type of sound...anyone else seems like a pretender.

Added To Library: TRUE This is probably the only Prodigy album I've listened to. It's mandatory listening for someone who's into early electronica or experiencing electronica's roots. Diesel Power features Kool Keith which is pretty sweet. My favorite song used to be Smack My Bitch Up until a coworker said something dreadful to me: that the entire song only consists of two sentences. "Smack my bitch up. Change my pitch up." Something about that dawning on me ruined the song for a while. It's still really damn good though. The whole album is. 3.5

hell yeah I love songs about beating the shit out of my wife

Dig the singles from the 90s. The rest holds up okay as well. 4 stars

Solid dance album chock full of cool beats n loops with a futuristic hard rock, hip-hop and also strong mystical eastern elements as well. Good for an ultra violent night out at the club smashing glass bottles at people or a long session of Wipeout on the PlayStation. The album tracks are good but the main singles Breathe, Firestarter and Smack My Bitch Up are absolutely the main draws here. Firestarter in particular is one of the wickedest and most yummily malevolent singles of the 90s. Narayan is another very groovy highlight featuring my main man from Kula Shaker, Crispy Mills on vocals in what is kind of a smoother cuddlier version of Setting Sun by Chemical Brothers. Fuel My Fire cover at the end is cool n rawky. Definitely a midge better than Massive Attack’s cover of Light My Fire a few years earlier.

."PSYCHOSOMATIC, ALAN IS GAY" merrily sang the 16 year old me. Like many things, neither that, nor this album have aged particularly well. But my word, what a revelation this was when it appeared. Obviously the overblow tabloid nonsense "they're obviously teaching children that arson is a good thing" made it even more appealing, but personally, this album was one of the first to teach me that "electronic" music could absolutely slap. Probably a 3, but what the heck, 4 stars for the sheer joy of underage drinking and yelling along mindlessly with your mates.

The nightclub rave music structure that all the songs have (the moment of silence in the middle and then the song restart) is a little annoying. But overall I really appreciate this record and the innovation that it brings to rave music

Stark vom ersten Ton an! Und bleibt dann intensiv solange man es erträgt, die Lautstärke hoch zu halten.

Jimi Hendrix’s music is definitely the complete package. Every element stands strong on its own but also works together perfectly. I love the raw, dirty, and gritty feel that runs through his music. The drumming brings a lot of complexity with its clear jazz influences. The bass stays steadily in motion, holding everything together as Hendrix’s reverb-heavy, fuzzy, feedback-laden guitar tears it up. The blues influences in his riffs really add that extra layer of grit.

Bro, how have I never heard these before. Lots of present EDM can be a bit too beep-boopy and lack some relevance beyond listeners who like robotic sounds, but these are so different. The album has proper timing and is clearly built for a club atmosphere (as EDM should be), but also mixes surprisingly well and transitions between aggressive and light? I mean everything in here worked. Sure, the songs may be long, but everything in this era was excessive for EDM. You got a new fan, The Prodigy.

at least a 4. A great listen during the workday very energizing and fun.

好硬的风格

This album is great. Smack My Bitch Up, Breathe, and Firestarter have been on regular rotation for years, and I had forgotten how cool Climbatize was. The other tracks are good too. Wish people played this one more.

Prodigy is just neat, also great background music

Loved this. Energetic, creative beats.

A great live band but not their best album … Some great songs … some OK songs. On balance I’ll give it 4.

90’s dance music at its best!

the most energetic nostalgia trip I’ve ever experienced

English electronica. With some rap. Very cool electronic beats, fantastic running or workout music. I really like the Prodigy. Not enough to buy an album but would happily listen again. Can see why this a staple and a classic.

Incisive and very effective! 4.35

OMG IT WAS A WOMAN THE WHOLE TIME? This is the only Prodigy I knew, and the singles still knock. Breathe makes it way into my rotation every so often. This was groundbreaking stuff for the time and is still weird and good.

Shout-out to the guy from Leedsfest who would turn around at every song and say 'I think they're playing firestarter'

Joar geht rein. Chillig für Prodigy

This is a solid album all the way through. I'm a fan of the big beat genre and this is one of the top albums in that genre. This will continue to be in my rotation.

How the hell is The Fat Of The Land so much better than their previous effort??? Legendary singles.

And award for “Most improved album when compared to the massive shit the band released as their previous effort” goes to The Fat Of The Land.

If I was being honest this album is a 5 for a certain time of my life. I’m glad I’ve moved past that time.

This was a fun album with some songs I haven;t heard from a while. Well worth a listen.

goed album, al begint de drummachine soms wel tegensteken ...

U nekom savrsenom svijetu Keith Flint bi pjevao na svakoj pjesmi i album bi bio jos bolji. Sve u svemu zanimljiva elektronika s dobrom produkcijom. Ne mogu se otet dojmu doduse, kako nekolicina pjesama gdje nema Keitha krenu brzo bit zamorne i repetitivne. Fav tracks: Smack my bitch up, Serial Thrilla, Mindfields, Fuel my fire 7/10 = 4

Great energy to this record, a band I'd like to see live, not something I'd listen to frequently but when in the mood I'd play this again

I'm a fire starter, twisted fire starter

Most 90’a album ever. Fun, aggressive. Can’t complain too much. Songs might be a tad too long.
