I was in college when this came out and I knew a lot of people who loved it, including my roommate. I did not. My musical tastes have evolved over the years and was kind of excited to listen to it with fresh ears. I still did not like it.
Fun fact, I saw her and her harp perform when she played at my college. She showed up over an hour late because she was having such a wonderful time at dinner she lost track of the time.
Tom Waits

Have you ever tasted flavor extract? It is really strong and tastes terrible. That is how I feel about this album. It is too industrial to the point it almost doesn't sound like anything. But there is a lot in there that would be awesome if incorporated into other songs, but to the extreme it is, is not good. It almost seems like an experiment of saying "hey look what is possible in music"
