T3B 1. Let’s Stay Together 2. Old Time Lovin’ 3. La-La for You

Not my kind of music, but I can definitely understand the appeal

6,1 Funky, but not for me

Solid. Would i listen to it on my own? Probably not. However i do not mind if this plays somewhere. It's quite chill and funky so it has it's places. There's nothing really wrong with the album it just doesn't sweep me away. Great artist.

i know this is great but most of it just doesn't move me, the lack is mine

Great for biking downtown

Good jams

Very smooth very nice

Smooth

Re para escuchar en plan cena romántica 🔥

First time listening, not bad

Classic Al.

Pretty okay album. I love the soulful and expressive vocals from Green. My main issue is with the mixing. Everything is so understated to the point that it all blends together and feels too mushy. Also, I didn’t like how every song just faded out really quickly. Might listen again if I have to.

Al Green’s pure vision of love always inspires me. He’s just so damn wholesome, never running around playing, but seeking the natural end of love: to give himself completely to one woman for life. I love the touches of his sweet, sexy falsetto. Also this album has one of the best covers of any song ever: Green’s rendition of the Gibb brothers’ “How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?” I believe him when he sings.

barry white vibes, gostosinho

This is perfectly good music. It's just not anything I'd listen to all that often... BTW - I had no idea Al Green was still alive.

I love the song “Let’s stay together. The rest are fine. 7/10

One great song on an ok album.

Very competent. High 3.

Great voice of course, but I do feel he's let down by some of the material.

Pleasant enough with the classic soul sound. One absolute solid gold hit, but others are good, just not stand out.

I was hoping a lot more for this album given how good Al Green is for a singer. It just never soared when I thought it could. 3.5/5

Although I knew of "Let's Stay Together" before, I can't ignore the influence that the Pulp Fiction soundtrack added to my late teens. Yup 90s nostalgia of a 70s tune! No other standout tracks on the rest of the album, but still enjoyable contemplative easy listening.

I'm not the biggest Soul/R&B-fan, but this is quite nice. Standout: How Can You Mend A Broken Heart. 3/5

Great album, a couple of real classic songs on here.

It’s a 3 from me.

Classic voice. Some really good songs. 3/5.

oh man this album. definitely 3.

I had never heard this whole thing before and was a little bit disappointed. Title track is incredible of course, but there weren't any other great ones. Nothing bad either, fine to have in the background, but probably not something I'd return to.

This is the kind of stuff that if I hear one song in a movie soundtrack I go - that sounds great. A whole album of it doesn't work as well.

detta va ikkje så verst egentlig

Let's Stay Together starts with a humdinger of a title track and then just cruises through soft, soulful pop, a genre you can listen to for ages without ever getting tired or bored of it. Not an example of best in class but a 3/5 floor for sure, doesn't rise much above it but will never let you down.

Fine, but a bit dull. Gentle, smooth listening with a bit of soul, a couple of stand out songs that elevate it to a 3, but mostly background music really.

The title track was the only familiar song for me from this album. It was good to hear a full album from Al Green. "I've Never Found a Girl (Who Loves Me Like You Do)” and "La-La for You” grabbed my attention. Overall the album was okay.

Pretty good soul stuff!

Nice. Obviously *Pulp Fiction* has done a great job getting audiences acquainted with the 70s soul gem that gives this album its title. And I can't say the rest of the record was an unpleasant listen (half of those tracks are nicely done, there's no arguing about that). On the other hand, I'm a bit skeptical whether this album as a whole can be classified as an "essential listen", especially compared with masterworks from Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding or Stevie Wonder. Maybe this was a bad day for me to dive into a soul album, but frankly, I'm not sure what separates those tracks from Barry White stuff sometimes (apart from their diametrically opposed voices, that goes without saying). I leave this as a question mark here. Maybe with a little more time on my hands, I'll get more attuned to the subtleties of this album, who knows? Number of essential listens : more than a third so far, I've temporarily lost count here... Albums I *might* include in my final list: a quarter so far (including this one) Albums I certainly won't include in my final list: more than a third so far.

Such a smooth voice, and yet seemingly such a cunt. Anyway, as a fan of rap, i separate the music from the person. This one is a bit too smooth.

Beautiful but a little slow

Bit disappointing.

I didn't find anything special about this album. It's nice and chill, but nothing more than that.

not very memmy sorry :(

Romantic sexy good vibes 3/5

Thought I was going to absolutely love this one because "Let's Stay Together" (the song) is one of my all-time faves. But that was really the only standout song on the album for me. The other songs were just meh. Giving this one a 3 purely due to that song.

Great voice, first song is the highlight. Good soul album.

okay for me...understand its impact at the time.

Not bad

Good soul album, he's not Marvin Gaye but he's good. I didn't know 'It ain’t no fun to me', catching and goog rhythm song.

Chill stuff

Ganz chillig, bisschen aufgesetzt

Was ok, not really my genre

A little dated for me, I could appreciate the musicianship and it's place in history but not quite my jam.

A fun listen...he's got a great voice. Definitely feel-good music!

Sweet sounding record.

First half is great, amazing grooves and great vocals. Gets slower and less interesting as the album progresses.

Average enjoyment

A very short album at ~30 minutes. I listened on repeat for several hours but still feel like I didn't hear the songs. Very background-friendly.

Really fun album to listen to in the morning. Helped get my day started and I know I've heard Let's Stay Together before because it was instantly recognizable. This week, however, felt like album after album of just ok albums that didn't really do anything for me save for a few fun songs. This one is part of that group, a good album that I probably won't listen to again. I'm sorry Al, we probably won't stay together.

This is what SOUL should feel like. Baby making music right here. Opens strong - kinda fades as it goes but never overstays its welcome Fav tracks: “Let’s Stay Together” “So You’re Leaving”

Al right

Very chill, might need more listening

-perfectly pleasant, but nothing memorable

It's fine. Al Green is smooth. But nothing makes a lasting impression past "Let's Stay Together."

Pretty smooth stuff. Opening track is a classic.

Very good

i didn't hate it

Decent album! I would listen to it again.

I liked the brass but none of the songs really stood out to me. Had a nice general groove though

If I ever feel the warm embrace of a woman again this is what I would listen to

What is this feeling

A good soul album. One really well known song.

Pretty good soul music, would listen again if I was in the right mood for it.

Good, felt kinda average

Mellow thoughtful lyrics, music that accompanies rather than overwhelm. What you played when you were with your best chick

3.5/5 i'll have to relisten to judge.

Paar leuke, opgewekte nummers.

He has such a calming smooth voice, it's very relaxing. I wish there were more stand out songs on this album than just the title track though. That voice could have done so much more.

Smooth!

Goeie vibe!

Wel mooi.

This had some classic hits on it, I was into the whole vibe.

nice rhythm but the music is to jazzy

Couple of great songs, good album overall, but not great start to finish.

Let's Stay Together

so good...

Stands the test of time. Strong horns supporting the vocals.

It's ok ╮(. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)╭

A fine, groovy, and soulful album.

Soul, trumpeter. Nice bas i I've never found a girl. 6/10.

Listenable. Banger title track. Not going to dial it up every day.

Cool but a bit slow for my taste

In general, this is my kind of thing, I love this style of music. This album was less upbeat than I like it, though, so not my favorite. I will hunt down some more Al Green, though.

Pretty chill

La la for you is my favorite song on the album, I really like the genre and will explore it further.

Some classics

Perfect dinner at home vibes

Smooth, relax, definitely something I can listen with a petite.

Really fun album good stuff nice to hear more than just the title track.

Great album, not for me though.

Lækker, afslappende 70’er soul, gospel-inspireret

Soulful and sensual. Pleasant, but not really my everyday jam. Love the lush instruments, and Green's voice is wonderful. Favorite tracks: "It Ain't No Fun to Me", "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart"

I enjoyed this. A few songs were standouts, but overall it was pleasant. 3.5

1972. Key Songs: How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, Let's Stay Together

Very 70's! Loved it

Pretty good. Superchill. Closer to a 3.5 though

I know this is classic, but it failed to grab me.

Perfectly good background music

Nice sound, i don't see myself reaching for it that much however

No, not for me this music.

i like it a lot its pretty funky and makes me dance to it i recommend it to others!

Not my style

4/10 Pretty fun but not my thing

dont really enjoy em all but pretty good in some specific vibes

That was ok, the only point that standed out was the title track.

Great title track, but otherwise faded to the background

boring

I tried to like it, I really did. there were even a few times in the first song that I thought I might. But then, tragically, t just kept coming and getting sappier until I could my acceptance could take no more. I finished it, because I felt obliged by the project, but I would not have otherwise.

Not for me

its okay but yk pretty old and not really my style :)

No es mi tipo de musica

Very old, not really my jam but still ok nonetheless. Just finished listening and it was boring not bad but I wouldn’t willingly listen to it

bella let's stay together

I know and own the song Let’s Stay Together. I also knew the song How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, but I don’t know if I know his version of it or not. It was short, but none of the other songs stood out.

A classic for sure, but my tastes are a bit picky.

Let’s Stay Together by Al Green is a really solid album. It sounds incredibly good despite its age. Green’s vocal talent is outstanding—he truly conveys emotion in every song, moving effortlessly from powerful vocals to softer, more intimate moments. The album takes you from catchy, danceable tracks to slower, more personal ones. It’s not my style at all, but I still enjoyed it. I actually listened to it while writing, and it ended up surprising me in a very positive way.

Another album that didn’t do much for me generally, but you can’t deny how good his voice sounds. Favourite track: Let’s Stay Together

0/9 bekannt 4/10 Beste Songs: it ain’t no fun to me, how can you mend a broken heart, let’s stay together

no es mi estilo

Entirely okay

tbh, I couldn’t vibe with it — I felt nothing while listening and I think feeling is really important… I liked 3 songs out of 9 that I can maybe put to sleep. my rating is: 1,5/5

No fue realmente lo mío. How can you mend a broke heart muy linda

Its no dat good

I liked the horns when I noticed them, but none of the individual songs really stood out to me.

Soul isn't my preferred style of music, but this album is no doubt groovy and catchy. It would be good to listen to if you're down and want to lift your spirits. Most everything on here is upbeat and definitely passionate. Not my favorite, but I can appreciate the sentiments.

Top 3: Let’s Stay Together, I’ve Never Found a Girl, So You’re Leaving

Title track is good and I know it from Pulp Fiction. The band seems competent enough, but the singing seems kind of whiny to me and the monothematic lyrics actually made me angrier with every song. May have just been that day, but I have no desire to listen to this again.

OK. 2/5

boring

Was alright, not my genre so didn't think anything much of it. Still a pleasurable listen. 2/5

The title track and a few of the others are pretty nice. Not going to listen to the whole album again though. 2.5.

Really not my thing and rather boring.

Sorry Al, this one didn't really do it for me. High 2.

Rating: 5/10 Never even got more than a resounding ‘meh’ from me as the album carried on this Al guy is extremely overrated.

Man, I can't believe how disappointing this album is. Title track is an all time classic but the only other attention grabbing part was the "How Can I Mend A Broken Heart" cover. And I was very intently listening. It's just mostly so dull and done far better by someone else

Fantastic song, poor album.

Just not my cup of tea

i didnt mind the music, but nothing stuck out to me. would listen to again maybs

ok great voice, great sound, but his wiki article what the fuck

Ot my style. Boring then, boring now.

SUUUUUPER boring. But still real music so not a one.

Smooth, influential soul that leans too whiny for my taste, saved only by moments of grit and groove.

in one ear and out the other

- Yet another SA'er and woman (and man) beater singing songs about love. Pretty difficult to separate the artist from the art when all the lyrics are supposed to be about love, even just to rate the music. - Title track is a classic banger. The only other song that competes is the Bee Gees cover. I found the rest pretty forgettable. - His voice is thin and nasal/closed, which is a type I just don’t like much. It’s better in his lower registers, but he doesn’t seem to go there often. I like that it is emotive, though.

Not really for me, I think it was because I wasn't in the mood for this type of music, but it still didn't do anything for me. There were only 2 songs that I would go back and listen to again, so for that reason I don't think I will be revisiting this album

wasn't my cup of team, opener was great, but I wasn't in a mood for this kind of music - I don't see myself revisiting this one

Was really gearing up to hate on this, but I just can't. It's too smooth and mellow and satisfying, and Green it too talented a vocalist (albeit also a piece of shit human being) to just bin it. Doesn't mean I have any desire to hear it again, however.

It's not a bad album, great singer but it's pretty dull

The hits are so good. The other songs range from decent to boring.

Tämä levy oli vähän liian rauhallista soulia. Ei oikein jäänyt yksikään biisi mieleen. Vähän liian tasapaksua. Soitto oli hyvää ja rennon letkeää…

achei ok, sla

My controversial take (?) is that soul music exists to make me feel bad for not finding it engaging at all, and placing it purely in the realm of background listening.

If you told me a guy named Al Green looked like this, I wouldn't believe you

almost crashed my car listening to this auto 2 star

Pretty good, a little too slow for me but good music

Bee Gees cover is great - rest of it is good easy listening

Too Sunday afternoon

Olisin kaivannut työmatkapyöräilyyn vähän vauhdikkaampaa rytmiä eikä tällaista ”I will make love you all night long” kermakarkkia.

No me enganchó.

First half repetitive trumpet. Second half repetitive miserable ballads

Made the same song 12 times, but 2-3 of them are good.

EN I don't feel anything for this album. Not a good feeling, neither a bad feeling, it's just an album that exists. The first track is pretty cool, though! A primeira faixa é bastante legal, no entanto! 5/10

ok, bem fraquinho, não curto muito soul. musica melhorzinha: old time lovin

Soft, smooth, pop soul. Green can deliver a real tender vocal line. But overall, this just washed over me - I remember little about it other than the famous song Let’s Stay Together. Certainly not a bad album to listen to, just in memorable.

classic. wouldn't listen usually. like the 'how can you mend a broken heart?'

Al Green has a great voice, but this album doesn't do a lot to showcase any kind of range for him. While the opening track "Let's Stay Together" is iconic, the rest of the album feels very similar. Most of the tracks have the same pace, similar sound, and don't really do anything to break things up. It works well for background noise but doesn't really do much for me as far as active listening goes. Nothing "sounds bad" just doesn't switch up enough for my taste. A fine album, but not a particularly great one.

I used to be a big Al Green fan — I pitched and landed "Al Green 1 p.m. listening hour" at work — but after learning about his history of domestic abuse I dropped him. This album is ok.

Insipid yawning created to soundtrack crecednos of mediocre romcoms. Didn’t hate it but gosh was I glad when it was over.

This is a nice short album full of soulful love songs, but it's kind of one dimensional. Some jazzy guitar parts, some background organ and horns. Vocals and backing vocals are all nice but kind of bland sounding. There's nothing bad here but nothing that really got me going either. Not really my style, but was a nice easy listen. I dunno, just didn't do much for me. A solid 2.5 down to a 2, wouldn't revisit.

There are two or three cool songs, but not enough to make it memorable.

chill af. no standouts, very consistent. not really connecting with anything here but it’s okay.

Not crazy about this. Nothing wrong with the music, but it's just not my style.

It's another Green Onions. Let's Stay Together is a great song but it's not a great album.

I thought the first song was ok but the album as a whole was a bit too samey and I didn't find it very interesting or engaging.

Too much of the same. Didn’t hold my attention.

Lets not and say we did.

Look—I’ll be real. It’s a short album, so it’s gotta hook me the whole time, and this just didn’t. I like soul and jazzy chord progressions, but this was just kinda… dull? It’s super laid-back, which isn’t a bad thing, but for me, it just never really went anywhere. His voice is nice—kinda nasally but in a good way—but the songs all blended together. Samey chord progressions, nothing that really grabbed me. It’s funky, but I’ve heard other soul artists bring more energy or just more something to the table. Probably won’t revisit. 2/5.

Classic, but a lot of the songs sound the exact same.

Average album 2.5 overal.

Opening track a banger, rest is decent enough.

Alan Greenspan’s side project? Who even is Alan Greenspan? My mind is a kaleidoscope of unfinished references. I can’t imagine this one will go my way today. I also don’t know why the text is dripping down the wall. I think it’s a 1972 graphic design attempt at graffiti. Mission accomplished fellas. Now hit it, Al. Oooh this was a sample somewhere. This song is mostly boring. Not my genre. Music to be played in the background at gentrified coffee shops. I’m asleep. I am dreaming of a musical album that was created for the purpose of releasing a real emotion and was not intended to be put on the shelf next to other music like a product. This one tries to wake me up. The music is fine. I can’t hate it, I just don’t really care. What is this feeling? It’s apathy. Al-Pathy™️. Actually. I don’t trademark it. You can have it, Al. Call your fans the Al-Pathetics. Sell merch. Holy hell this is even sleepier. I don’t know if it’s because I waited until later in the day, but yeesh. I’m just spent. Old time boredom. We’re attempting to wake up. The bass is nice here. The stereo backing vocals scared the shit out of me for some reason. So. I’m big time jacked now. Al is a virgin. Oh wait. LIKE you do. I see. Well, virgin or not, this song is fine. I like the weird fast talking part. That seems different. But this is a sway song. I’m sure some people have really good or bad memories associated with this. I just hear an attempted prom song. Oh hey. Poor Judy. Why do you have to sing directly to a person via a mass release? Are all these songs about Judy? Why isn’t the album called Judy? Or Songs for Judy? Nobody says, “meeting my girlfriend was a real hip thing” anymore and that’s the real tragedy here. It ain’t too much fun to me either, Big Al. Take us home. I know everybody really liked the “Guardians of the Galaxy” soundtrack. It was different for the time, and it accompanied the well-received blockbuster film in an interesting way. At least that was the perception while the marvel franchise still had goodwill with the populace. It seems like everybody hates them now, but who’s keeping track? I never really liked the playlist and it dragged worse with each passing summer, having to hear the same 70’s pop/soul songs everywhere. This is a collection of songs that would fit right at home on that list, and I felt the same exasperation during Al Green’s plea to stay together. Tracks that may have hit stronger in 1972, are now sappy love songs that are completely arid after being milked dry for 50 years. None of these songs are “bad” per se, but the album just has nothing strong to offer me in 2025. It’s a listenable album and that’s what it was designed to be, but listenable and passive music is not why I’m here. Hey Al?Maybe we should see other people. It’s not you. It’s me. 2 HIGHLIGHTS: One big chunk of mediocrity.

Not bad. My appreciation for soul is limited.

I liked it in a general sorta way. Not terrible, but not my thing for sure.

Artiste inconnu. =>2/5

It's quite nice, but I'm not keen on his voice. I wouldn't rush back to this one.

Thought this was going to be a slam dunk 3, mebbee a 4. Caught me on an off day?

Sounds like generic sheets slow jam

I like his voice, sorta, but it feels shallow and thin, 2 stars

This sounded like “grown-up music when I was little” and reading the Wikipedia page for the singer didn’t help…

This made no impression on me at all. Boring.

It's the pulp fiction song!

Great talent. Decent album

Meh.... I guess it was OK. I really couldn't care less whether I ever hear this again or not. Let's Stay Together, the best song, is so overplayed that it's worn out it's welcome. 2.5/5

First song good. Not rest.

A smooth style and nice voice. Overall a fine time with this album, but not much more than that

Middle

Saai saai aaaaaai

Only know the one song. Pretty groovy. I don’t see me asking Alexa to play this one after listening but I can see why it’s on the list.

Just okay

Didn’t really enjoy it that much after a few listens

bastante monótono.

I'm not a fan of RnB in general, but this 70s version feels very overplayed in movies etc. Sounds like I've heard it all before too much. It's not terrible though. Fav track: Old Time Lovin'

objectively, this is a near-perfect representation of the early 70s blues-gospel-soul-funk marination. it's hard to fault as a contributor to this scene: great soul harmonies, melancholic guitar, jabbing horns, even an organ. if you are looking for the pinnacle of the al green sound, and the sounds of this genre, look no further. personally, al green always feels like an artist I am supposed to love, but I can't quite get there. sure I like many of his songs (many of which I discovered studying samples), but I can't help but feel like you had to be there when this all came out to fully appreciate the artistry and what his work meant. i'm sure many love this album, and it is iconic, but I found myself wanting to skip most tracks. imo he has better albums with better songs ("livin' for you" and "i'm still in love with you" namely). best songs: so you're leaving, judy worst songs: let's stay together

Easy listening typical AL Green with 2 of his biggest hits.

It Ain’t No Fun to Me is worth holding on for. That bass/beat is something else from the rest of the album.

Amazing voice, only liked the first song though

I'm team Marvin Gaye. This did not get me groovin like I was expecting. Couple good ones but overall a flop.

First song is an absolute classic. Unfortunately the rest of the album isn't as strong and doesn't do enough for me to give it any high praise. It's a solid entry but nothing special. 2.25 stars.

Voice like butter on a warm non-stick. I found many of the arrangements tedious, though.

Sounds like a muppet.

Good sounds, just not my taste

It's fine. All the sexy hits, but by 72 it's a derivative of a throw back Era. All the style and class, dripping in backup singers bit it's over. Falls in the face of the new consciousness and direction of 1972 and where music of all styles was going. Motown in the face of Hendrix and Floyd.

I thought I’d like this more than I did. Kinda boring, tbh.

Not my cup of tea wie man so schön sagt

Objectively, this seems to deserve to be on the 1001 list. Some of the backing instrumentals are solid. But man, I don't like soul. I dropped out on the third song.

Decent background music.

Not a fan, but not bad

One or 2 great songs. Not my thing

Im not really a soul music fan, so this didn't do it for me. No doubt he could sing though, and backed by some decent musicians, im sure this is a fine album to the right audience.

Lovely voice but the songs passed me by

first track is awesome but after the first couple it quickly plummets into fairly generic 70s rnb

Hmm.. ok classic soul, but without really standing out as anything special

It's good background music for a sunny day.

One classic track the rest was me'h

Almost liked it but not quite.

He looks young in the picture

Kutumusaa ilman kutemista ei oikein jaksa kuunnella. Toki omassa genressäänkin jää kauaksi kärjestä.

Regular

I was eager to hear this, but ultimately disappointed by the redundancy—every song is essentially the same. At least the Bee Gees cover spiced up the set.

Sigh. It was fine. Not my genre of choice, was quite bored by it. Best tracks: Let’s Stay Together, So You’re Leaving Worst track: I’ve never found a girl, How can you mend a broken heart , Judy

Soul is one of my least favourite genres, so I never would have listened to this album on my own and I probably wouldn't listen to it again. The vocals were amazing, the instrumentation was solid, and the vibes were good, but it's just not for me. Best tracks: La-La For You and How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.

Enjoyable for sure, but not going to pop up in my regular rotation!

Not bad but didn't blow me away. Pretty enjoyable overall.

Pretty bland stuff, not my bag.

Not terrible, but nothing really stood out for me.

Aika hyvä

not a big fan of this album to be honest, I like a few of the songs though

I get it. Decent. Will I ever listen again? Very unlikely.

A great voice but not an album I enjoyed that much apart from the title track.

One hit album.

I'm sorry, but nah. This album activates my fight-or-flight response.

Not really my vibe... But I could appreciate a few of the songs.

Just not my style.

I love Al but I didn't love this.

Kjedelig

All of the songs sort of blend into each other. The second a song ends and another begins I've already forgotten what it sounds like. Nice background noise, not much else

No doubting Al's got a great voice and the opener is a great track. Otherwise all a bit soul-by-numbers for me.

I only knew the first, homonymous song of the album, from Tarantino's classic "Pulp Fiction". Apart from that, the album was chill, but not worth any more words from me.

How can you mend a broken ❤️‍🩹? You listen to Al Green . He did a great job creating life long love songs. He got better with age, like a fine 🍷

I like the title track quite a lot. The rest I am completely indifferent to…meh.

This soul album from the 70's is Al Green's fourth. It is critically acclaimed for the beautiful soul music and Al Green's smooth lyrics & golden voice. I enjoyed this album, but it's not something I would listen to normally.
