Let's Stay Together
Nothing stood out in particular, but smoove soul vibing music.
It was good soul music, but didn't really connect with me. Probably won't listen to it again much.
That title song is so damn good but there's also sentimental attachment to it and that's hard to beat. The rest of the album can't match that, which is no fault of its own. Another solid 3 star album, for sure.
Kinda ok as background. Not quite my thing. Not terrible
For me this album was forgettable. Nothing stood out as being interesting and the album sounded like things I've heard before. Not a bad album but a mediocre one.
Listened Before? N He was a great talent. Good voice and awesome arrangements here on this album (not sure if he's responsible or not). Nice and smooth and good lovin' soul music. The inclusion of the timeless classic "Let's Stay Together" takes this one up a notch. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Let's Stay Together
My first Al Green album. Great soul singer but besides “Let’s Stay Together “ nothing really seemed like it would be too memorable.
Perfectly inoffensive music that'd do to throw on in just about any situation. Nothing particularly stood out, just a decent all 'round album.
A nice album, but nothing too special to me.
Sweet soul music. Who doesn’t like a little Al Green.
As easy listening goes, this is up there with the easiest. Not totally my thing but enjoyable enough. His voice is smoooooth!
#280. A few pretty good songs, decent enough on the whole. 3/5: good
The whole album is very easy listening. Great voice. Soulful music. And of course the outstanding "Let's Stay Together". Not exacly my jam but nonetheless really good. 3,5
Great sound, great voice, just gets a bit repetitive, even despite its short runtime.
Love Al’s voice and vibe, great Bee Gees cover song. The groove on these is pretty similar across a lot of the tracks. Was hoping this album had Take Me to the River, but alas…
Had a great time listening to this. It doesn't have a huge range or a standout aside from the title song, though.
It's okay - no strong feelings either way.
It's really good. I need to revisit more.
Let's Stay Together So You're Leaving Old Time Lovin' How Can You Mend A Broken Heart?
Classic soul
But that's just me. 7/10 Highlights Let's stay together So You're Leaving
Sweet album. Al Green is always going to remind me of the Cutspec clan. We all went to Red Rocks together and saw Al Green perform in 2023 and it was a blast. Dude just had such a unique voice that you can feel wrapped in. Great vibes all around.
Iconic titular song. One of those songs that has been in various media throughout my whole life. Also a song that is fun to sing and I know most of the words to, but if you asked me the name or who it was by I wouldn’t know. Glad this one came up. Definitely starts with the best song but what I best song it is.
Fifteen years ago when I was working in a factory at my very first job, I had a coworker in his late forties that was a temp worker like me. I’m pretty sure he came to work either drunk, on cocaine, or both every day. Couldn’t tell you his name, but I do remember that he was short-tempered if you even insinuated that he was acting dumb, and he loved some Al Green. This was probably one of the first times coming back to this album since then, and I can tell you it’s a much better listen driving around town than it is doing manual labor with a dude that will rage when you tell him he put something on the wrong pallet. Al Green has a great voice, but he’s no Marvin Gaye or Stevie Wonder.
3.5 smooth and soulful
Pretty mellow listen. Some real groovy love songs. 3.5/5
Al is great, wish this album would have a bit more energy but that’s my style. I would say this is probably a great way to get to know Mr Green. Rounding down.
Classic singles but the rest of the album feels a bit disappointing.
he alright, got some bangers! but not revolutionary, also the audio quality is kinda weird
Groovy
Let's Stay Together.
From the album cover alone I already know this has got to be great. I did like it, but the first track really eclipses everything else on this album.
funk and soul, carino
Meh
A bit of Funk..!! Let’s stay together was the first song but 5 in lost it..
Forgotten how rave-y this album was. So evocative of the 90s jungle scene in Bristol, as it matured into something beyond warehouses. Before the… unpleasantness… Hard recommend and got 2 spins today, one immediately after the other.
It was good. Old timey.
Groovy, soulful. Easy.
Title track is a classic. I really like the guitars and Al Green's voice on this album, but not many tracks after the first one really jumped out at me. Maybe on a different day this would have hit better but I can only judge on the listening experience I actually had
Ok. 3
It's funky soul, a genre I strongly associate with a themed 1p machine at metroland. I'm not sure if any of these songs were on its very limited catalogue but it wouldn't have been out of place, ticked all the boxes. It's not a genre I'm particularly fond of but this album was a solid example, 2.5.
Gefühlvolle Balladen und rhythmische Tracks.
Soulful!
Cool voice, though I wish he'd vary it a little more between the tracks. Given the album's release date in 1972, "variety albums" had become much more accepted than 10 years earlier – so give us a little more variety, Al! Regardless, it's pretty solid material, and Al Green's vocal has a soulful, warm quality that keeps on delivering. It's strongest in the track How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, where Al really goes all-out on the emotion. Good backing vocals throughout, along with the pretty (though dated) strings. On some tracks it's hard to distinguish between keyboard and piano - are they playing in unison? Great brass, but I would've loved more complex arrangements for them. The playing is a little predictable at times. (See: trumpet lines in La-La for You.) Interesting freeform-ish song structure that gives the impression of a live jam session - I'm not a big fan. The production is also a glaring step backwards from some of the incredible production showcased in the late 60s from other artists. You know what I always say: "If you've got the tech, then use it, heck." 3/5 Key tracks: Let's Stay Together, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart, La-La for You
Packed with enough sensuality and soul to get a monk a bit frisky, this record has a power that surprisingly few do. You ever want to pull a power move, just pop this album on during the drive on your first date, or your hundredth date for that matter. All that said, Green creates a mood here, but musically speaking, I get a bit tired of the ballads after a few tracks. Unfortunately the opener is never topped, and as we all know, when your first 3 minutes is your best, it's not a good night for anyone. 2 thumbs up on the drum production though.
STANDOUTS: Let's Stay Together OVERALL: 3/5...It's...fine?
Some sweet soul music, I’d put this above a lot of other soul we’ve gotten so far on the list
Opened so strong and never really hit that high for the rest of the album. But it was a pretty chill groovy listen. I was vibin for sure with my 3 saves
This record starts with an absolute banger (LST) and everything else after that feels a bit weak in comparison, Marvin Gaye did the same thing with What's Going On.
Saw Al Green back in the day. So good. Great listening to this voice again.
Good listen Standout songs: old time lovin' How can you mend a broken heart
One great song and some other nice grooves on this debut album.
Easy going, smooth and soulful. A lot to like, Al Green has a superb emotive voice, horns sound good though perhaps not mixed too well.
3.5
Fairly decent album with a couple of stand out tracks. But mostly chilled easy to listen to in the background tracks.
Not for me but its at least super listenable and pleasing. First song i knew well.
Amazing opening track. The rest of the album is a little boring. The problem is me not you Al Green.
Not a genre I explore very often, but very enjoyable.
3.5.
Sound gospel soul
Smooooooth.
Great opener. Good album. 3.5 stars
Pretty solid 3.5.
While I massively respect Al Green for his influence and contributions to music, I can't say anything about this album jumped out at me. It's a very consistent, solid album, but a lot of the songs end up blending into one another.
I like Al Green
The track Let's Stay Together is great. How Can You Mend a Broken Heart stood out just because I recognized it being a Bee Gee's song. Oh, and seven other smooth soul songs that kind of sound similar to each other. The album is OK for certain situations.
Pretty much all of Al Green’s good material was recorded and released in a span of about 2 years, which is incredible considering the consistent quality of the 5 albums. The thing that most impresses me about Green is his ability to cover songs and make them his own. There’s a Bee Gees cover on this album that I had no idea was a cover. Green’s soulful cover is completely original to the Gibb brothers’ pop-folk original.
I think I’ll like this more the more I listen to it
I really really gotta learn some of this on the guitar.
Good album.
Jazz
listened to while doing work. good background music. i overall like the sound but my ears aren’t attuned to this genre so it’s hard for me to pick out specific things that i loved, learned, or appreciated. glad to have listened to it though
Leppoisaa soulia aamuun, oli parempaa kuin keskiverto. Parhaat: Let's Stay Together, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart
Nothing to dislike, but nothing too mind-blowing. The opener is a classic, obviously, but the rest is unmemorable pleasant.
Before listening: I certainly don't love all of the genre, that would be insane. Some I hate, but others I just never gave a chance to. Soul is one of these genres. I've never listened to Marvin Gaye or Al Green, but people seem to love them. So I'm gonna give this one a whirl with an open mind, but I really don't expect to like it all that much. After listening: Not exactly my thing, but you know what, this was actually enjoyable. I don't think this is going to awaken anything, but there's a non zero chance I listen to this again.
Classic r n b/soul. Enjoyed it!
Decent enough with a couple of legendary tracks. 2.8 stars
3.27 per track.
Blows my mind that someone who sings so smoothly about love has also been involved in abusive behavior towards several women in their life. As for the album, it was pretty decent if not a bit monotonous. I've listened to better soul.
All very listenable, "How Do You Mend a Broken Heart" is transcendent. 3*
Lekker op de achtergrond
The award for weirdest typography on an album goest to...! great album! feels sooo good! That first track is just forever perfect. I’m never mad about getting something like this to listen to. Beautiful arrangements. The rest of the album kind of blurs together a bit, but it’s a nice blur. 3/5, good time was had!
It's good 3.5
Its got some bangers on there so slightly better than a 3 star album
Lovely vibe overall. Amazing, all time vocal and performer. Always loved the single, but would need more time with record itself however, to find its other standouts.
good light funk for the background. 3
Starts off strong but kind of fades in the middle.
Decent, enjoyable, but ultimately nothing (with the exception of the title track) left a lasting impression.
Overall the album was ok, 2 all time tracks elevate this for sure but otherwise an ok listening experience
Solid album with some memorable and passionate moments. He definitely has an amazing voice and carries the vibe masterfully. The album does have a lot of forgettable tracks though in between the more popular hits from the album.
naaaaaaaaah not for me
funky love it but didnt really pay attention
Ik stoor me bijvoorbeeld aan het gelal in What Is This Feeling.
One of the all-time great intros, to an all-time classic slab of soul. The rest of the album is solid, with top class horn section. Excellent weekend easy listening.
Not bad funky jazzy
Let’s Stay Together with Al’s rich, soulful voice that sounds like it could have been recorded 5 years ago. Holding up real well 50 years later. Smooth and very listenable. (2.9*s)
Solid Al Green submission from his early days. I could listen to the title track once a week.
Ok
Smooth 70s soul.
Another not bad album. There’s nothing bad about it. I don’t think a person could ever dislike a soul album, if that what it would be called. I’d listen to it while doing random chores around the house. Choice cut: I’ve Never Found a Girl
It's an okay album! I like it more as background music, like if I'm waking up for the day. It has some great beats and instruments, but sadly the songs didn't really click with me. It's the sound balancing, the vocals feel like they're being drowned out and such, I feel I would enjoy them much better if it was a bit tighter in that department.
wondering why this album made it onto this list. not because its bad or anything...just wondering Why. its an easy listening album though i like it! how can you mend a broken heart. ohhhhhh nice. 3/5.
Perfect for if I was in love or going through a breakup in the 70s
It was nice. Maybe a bit boring, but it's short and ends on a good song
forgot this was on but it was ok
Smothy music
Not my go to style but very good music.
This album takes me back to soulful R&B days of the 70s. The title track (Let's Stay together) and How Can You Mend a Broken Heart are very rememberable songs from my past.
Meh.
3.2/5 Best Track: Let's Stay Together
Pretty mid. Not good not bad. Good production value.
3.5 First track def the best, an all time classic. It’s nice and smooth
The opening track Let's Stay Together is a classic for sure. But the album really falls off after that. Maybe because I'm not a huge fan of soul but the rest of the album just feels like more boring spin offs of Let's Stay Together.
6.5/10
It's fine
Despite Al's great voice, I didnt find this too remarkable
It's a real beaut
A lot of the songs are almost interesting (so you’re leaving, I’ve never found a girl) but not quite Best songs: let’s stay together, how can you mend a broken heart Worst song: La-La for you
Happy to stay with you for 34 min and 4 sec, beyond that, I can't make any promises
Han mostly chlige drüber gskippt drum chanis nid mega genau sege. Es isch sicher ahgnehm aber us de Socke hauts mich jetzt au nid. Drum es soldis starches 3. 3.4/5
Let’s stay together and 8 fillers. Not my cuppa I’m afraid. At least he wrote his own stuff.
Smooth and easy.
Smooooth.
Soul for lovers. Al Green does not phone it in and this record has some of the finest production of it's time. An enjoyable album through and through.
I grew up with soul music all about and never really liked it. This is very good soul, Al has a great voice and much skill, the songs are solid - I just would never choose it.
Let’s stay together has to be one of the all-time Greats. The rest is pleasant and accomplished but all a bit too samey-wamey for me.
He’s got a great voice. Let’s Stay Together is a classic. His version of How Can You Mend a Broken Heart is almost my favorite version. It was a little more than a 3 but I wasn’t feeling generous enough to go to a 4.
Nice album from a different era
Might be voting it low just because I’ve heard the same damn genre three days in a row This one was at least short Also rebellious guy making innocent songs haha
Sonido satisfactorio, nice y tal.
Okish. Be a good background album. Opens with Let’s Stay Together.
Really good album, the composition is amazing and his vocals are top-notch. A shame that he's a wife-beater.
Not my genre
Great, soulful songs. Familiar to me even though I don't remember them.
love it, very funky
Good but did not blow me away.
smooth and easy
I especially liked " Let's stay together" and Bee Gee's " How Can you mend a broken heart."
Some very good vibes
Nice
Good album. The only song I would come back for is the title track.
lets stay together: funny how i been listening to it from works radio for years but never knew how this song was called although i can sing along 😐
really easy listen. and smooth. not my kind of album but i really enjoyed la-la for you and i've never found a girl (and let's stay together of course). went to listen again and wasn't really feeling it. definitely need to listen when i'm in a particular mood
I've never listened to Al Green before, but I thought this was a pretty good album. Oddly enough, I reviewed Let's Get It On two days ago, so it was a nice coincidence to get another soul album from the same era so soon. I want to make a joke about these two albums being spiritual sequels, but I can't come up with anything clever. Anyway, on to the record at hand: Al Green's singing is easily the star of the show on Let's Stay Together, and his falsetto really sets him apart from other soul singers that were active in the seventies. Even with his falsetto, there's a raw power in his voice, and he easily goes from softer singing to louder singing within the same breath, all while keeping this smooth texture to his voice. The title track is fantastic, and I loved how the horn, rhythm, and string arrangements created such a rich sound. Al's version of "How Can You Mend a Broken Heart" was fantastic as well, and his voice really draws you in as the listener, and you can't help but feel that his rendition of this song is autobiographical. Everything else on the album was pretty good; the overall sound is incredibly cohesive, bound together by Al Green's voice and some nice musical arrangements.
Enjoyable
Very listenable, not a whole ton of standout moments for me
Jazzy
Classic soul album about love. Great but lacks the uniqueness and innovation for 4/5.
pretty relaxing
Smooth throughout. Some soundtracks felt too similar,
Meh
Yeah, ok.
Solid stuff, especially the title track. I enjoyed listening to this. A pretty strong 3.
Good
A legendary voice and a classic album 3.5
I like the Rev. The whole album is a really nice vibe.
7/10
Fint, men ikke helt min smak
Let’s stay together is a classic song, one of the greats. For me personally though this album was another situation of think one song could carry a whole album.
I guess it's good for it's time. The more ballad-y songs were nice, but all in all it's still just "good" to me
I like the way this album started. His sound is rather unique and Let's Stay Together is definitely a classic but the rest of the songs didn't hold up as well.
Enjoyable but not a listen multiple times album.
Soul. Ça sonne très smooth lover.
Nice, easy to listen to soul record, but didnt excite me that much Fave tracks: lets stay together,so youre leaving, ive never found a girl, how can you mend a broken heart 3/5
Big fan of his first song, Let’s Stay Together. Classic! The rest of his album wasn’t as good of a vibe as the first one in my opinion, but was pretty nice to listen to. I liked the relaxation of it and the music and his voice sounded really nice together.
Let's Stay Together is such a classic. Interesting to learn how this was kind of the start and the end of the height of his success. Fave track: I've Never Found a Girl
Nice voice, enjoyable to listen to, not life-changing.
It’s cool. Not my fav by him but I appreciate the guitar work.
It's Let's Stay Together and some other songs that are easy to listen to, but not as good as the title track.
What a voice this guy has! Songs between beautiful and too candylike sweet for me, so 3 stars
I recognize Let's Stay Together. Enjoyable listen, 3*.
Let's Stay Together and the sample of Chicago's Color my world (how to mend a broken heart) are the big stand outs - otherwise nothing feels amazing about this album to me.
Empieza altísimo con Let's stay together. Me han gustado también I've never found a girl y un poco menos How can you mend a broken heart.
Pretty, pretty, pretty good
Classic pulp fiction, Tarantino sounds
smooth and effortlessly cool, the reverend al green. some hit more than others, but a pretty solid album overall, including a pretty good cover of the beegees’ “how can you mend a broken heart”. highlights: “let’s stay together”, “i’ve never found a girl (who loves me like you do”, “how can you mend a broken heart”.
A little slow. Great hits though
Would listen again
didn't really listen but first song is a bop.
This is the first time that I have ever listened to this album. Green's voice is as effortless and full as always, however nothing really grabbed me from this record.
Smooth..
Easy listening. Classic.
3/5 - Good Soul album which starts off strong and then pleasantly continues. The two standout songs having stood the test of time for a reason.
His voice really brings the album together but outside of 1 song nothing stands out.
I was only familiar with "Let's Stay Together", which I really like. The rest of the songs have a good sounds, but none of them hooked me after 2-3 listens.
Imagine house plants hanging from macrame hangers. Silk sheets on a waterbed. Now, if only record players had a way to play that one song over and over again without having to get up and shift the needle back...
Thank you Mr Tarantino
It was okay. Had some good grooves but wasn't totally feeling it.
An immense pleasure to hear Rev Al Green singing his heart out - such a silky smooth voice - and the orchestrations, especially with organ and horns, give this music a warm, rich, comforting feeling. The title track is of course brilliant but not all the tracks matchup - indeed, there is a sense that Al Green made some incredible singles but never quite delivered an incredible album.
A nice album, only saved a few songs for later.
listened 3x - nice easy listening and i enjoyed it, but nothing stands out. 3/5
Solid
Not my genre but I did not hate it. Not something I would put on much again but was good to listen to something else for a change
Ok- easy listening, pleasant to listen to. Not my go to choice in music, but Ibcan understand why people would rate it.
It's a nice smooth listen, he's got a great voice, but I dunno, it doesn't really grab me the way some of his other records do.
Bonbon pour les oreilles mais très répétitif.
His vocal style is a bit too talky sometimes for my tastes. The title track is great, but not many other songs stand out to me.
Good stuff.
Such a smooth voice from Motown. Relaxing easy listening classic album.
Great talent; a lot of soul and emotion in his voice. Outside of the title song, the rest of the songs are pretty forgettable IMO.
Al Green at his best is 5 stars. But this album is almost all 3 star songs.
A lovely album, a fantastic voice a smooth set of songs a pleasant Friday listen and one of the great soul songs. Could have done with a few more like that though.
Mid
Fine
68/100
I liked this, would listen again.
If I could sing like this, I’d probably never shut up. Voice like butter, the songs themselves are just ok. Good grooves.
It has the classic soul sound all the way throughout, but really feels confined to that box. Al makes the most of that box but it is still pretty repetitive. 6/10
Fine
I didn’t want to listen, and took days to hit play, but then immediately liked it.
Nice to confirm that the single is not a fluke, it's all very good, smooth and very pretty. A very nice complete package.
Classy early 70s grooves.
How Can You Mend a Broken Heart is beautiful, Let's Stay Together also. But the rest of the album is medium.
Couple of standout tracks that are better than the rest of the album but still enjoyable all the way through as a smooth album
I don't think I'm "soulless", but it's not something I would listen to on the daily basis. Although music like that has its purposes.
Easy listening. Some good classic soul. It's exactly what you expect in a good way
Great start but seems to lack in other songs. Enjoyed, but wouldn't go out of my way to listen to. I enjoyed 'How Can You Mend a Broken Heart'!
Romantic funky album, not bad but not really my style.
idk it’s fine. i think after playing 2 (3?) al green songs in jazz band this year i’m a little fatigued. it’s also just kinda bland
It's okay. The title track is easily the best song.
Al Green had a lovely voice and I was impressed by the fact that he co-wrote Let's Stay Together, which is truly a song for the ages. He doesn't have the voice of someone with a history of beating up women (guys too, but usually he had his heavies do that).
Let’s stay together is of course one of the all-time greatest soul singles and a monster track. He also does a serviceable cover of the Bee Gees’ How can you mend a broken heart. The remainder of the album is pretty generic soul though, and did not resonate as much for me.
Let's Stay Together is a tune. The rest of the album is a nice time overall.
Great music, just doesn't range very wide and songs sound similar
Good. Need to listen again.
Great selection of songs, didn't blow my mind but Al Green has an awesome voice and groove.
I had heard of a few of these songs. Pretty good!
This guy is a solid soul singer. The title track is really good!
Good listen! Enjoyed Ally Boy, but pretty standard for that genre
What an opener. Good stuff but gets a little stale for me
Preach to me, Reverend.
6/10
Half decent soul music. Bit too slow and boring in most parts though. Would flick between 2&3 stars depending on my mood, I'll give it 3 today though. 2.5*
While Al has a smooth voice, most of the songs aren't memorable.
I liked the "hits" before and I still do.
Smooth soul/R&B
Deliciously smooth with a hint of funk. Nice stuff if a little dated
buena de fondo
Klassiseen kutuiluun
Smooth listening today. After an opener as "Let's stay together" nothing comes close to topping it. The rest of the album is nice and i enjoy it but nothing really stood out. Bonus points for feeling like I'm in "Pulp Fiction" when the first song starts playing.
Chilled and smooth soul music. Nice and relaxing, if ever so slightly on the bland side. Rating: 3/5 Playlist track: Let's Stay Together Date listened: 17/04/23
Nothing that stood out, pleasant to listen to.
I've never really listened to soul music much; nor have I actively avoided it. It's interesting that this comes following the 2pac album from Monday because the (very brief) bits of that I could have enjoyed, if it wasn't all so awful, had some of the same vibe this album has permeating the whole thing; although this isn't so much in a different league as on a different planet! I'm listening to most of these whilst working and this is a great album to do that to. His voice is amazing, the music is spot on, the production is so crisp. The conclusion is that I loved listening to this and it's probably the first thing on here that I wouldn't have chosen to listen to but may well revisit in the future, and the possibility of that is exactly why I started doing this in the first place!
I feel like this album was mostly just included for the title track, which is fair - it’s a great song. The rest of it didn’t really move the needle for me.
álbum bem jazzy, gostosinho, curto a voz.
Familiar with the title track. First impressions: smooooooth. Not much to say here. Soulful. The vocal delivery is dripping with passion. (I use the word "dripping" deliberately because what the heck is up with that typography on the album cover?) Standout tracks: Let's Stay Together, I've Never Found A Girl, How Can You Mend A Broken Heart 3.25 / 5
Contains the title track, a Bee Gees song, and seven others in very similar vein. Great voice, obvs., but as a wise man once said "stick to the Greatest Hits"
You can vibe to it, I really like the trumpets, it’s good background music, but I wouldn’t listen to it normally. Judy is a very cute and chill song. It’s my favourite song of the album.
It was good but there’s similar things which are better. 3.5/5.
Why would you EVER use that font for an album that sounds like this
very pleasant sound! 70s music always been something i would love to explore more and this is a great start, trumpets galore
Enjoyable Soul but just the standard 3 stars from me
Smooth groooooves from Al
Didn't enjoy this as much as some of the other soul albums on here
Put it on and enjoyed it. Unlikely that I will give a repeat listen any time soon.
The title track is great. After that nothing was very memorable but I liked the brass instruments and its not like Al couldn't sing. It was OK overall I guess. Probably only ever going to listen to the title track again I the future though.
Silky vocals. Nice songs. Starts strong and tails off a little.
Amazing vocals. Great songwriting that keeps you mellow throughout . . . nostalgic for me as a child of the 80s. Similar to alot of what I heard on the radio during my childhood. All of the instruments are clear and easy to hear, not at all overproduced.
Title song obviously a classic. Also Never found me a girl and How can you mend a broken heart are great.
Very pleasant to cook food to. I wasn't expecting to like this one very much
Nice, easy, listening. Not ground breaking but exactly what you want when it’s right.
Soul
More chilled than I remember, album tracks background music.
The deep, warm analog sound with his slightly scratchy beautiful voice. Great album. Solid.
Many of the reviews seems to be nondescriptive: great, classic, amazing straight 10/10 I enjoyed it, his voice is very smooth, his song has been covered millions of times, I may forget about this album soon though
Super groovy, it was great as background music while working - and I mean that as a compliment. I made the mistake of reading Al Green’s Wikipedia though. Is there a way to opt out of being recommended people with a history of domestic violence (or similar) allegations? Should I avoid Googling until afterwards, because it ruined listening to the second half of the album lol.
Amazing first song. Great vibe through the album, but couldn’t see myself listening to it again.
Classic soul, easy to listen to but I feel like it is not exactly what I want to listen to while working which is when I listen to these albums.
I recognized the title track thanks to Pulp Fiction, otherwise it all kinda just faded into background music, nothing especially stood out, but nothing was annoying either.
Little different taste for me but I can get down with some old stuff
- Pleasant listen - Floats in and out - Really nice sound - Maybe too smooth? Could benefit with more grit - Good songs: How can you mend a broken heart - Bad songs: N/A - 5/10
Fun, nice to get ready to
Awesomesauce
Quelques fulgurances
was a good listen
Pretty chill album, some good tunes
Cool.
Was Al Green a one hit wonder? I couldn’t say with any confidence whether he was or wasn’t, but I couldn’t name any other songs aside from the title track before listening to this. It will be interesting to hear the rest of the album, when the song Let’s Stay Together still gets very frequent radio play. Songs I already knew: Let’s Stay Together Favourites: Let’s Stay Together The album opens with the track we all already know. It’s easy to not realise how well composed Let’s Stay Together is, with its unusual chords and key changes dotted around, as it never sounds harsh when doing so. This, to me, is a marker of a well written song. However, the rest of the album is much less interesting. His voice stays as you would expect, but the composition stays somewhat simple for the other tracks. You can see why they leaned so heavy on the title track. Overall, I did enjoy the album but one song certainly outshines the rest by a wide margin.

Liked the first couple songs but lost interest as the album went on.
Too much one noted for me.
meh
Not my style, but very fun to listen to - 3.5
Funky and fun, but nothing really stuck.
Not bad
Solid throughout, but fewer highs than I was expecting. 3/5
