Reviews (page 4 of 8)
Listening to this album made me feel like I should be three pints deep on a pitcher of lager and playing pool in a smoke filled dive-bar. I enjoyed the album from start to finish and plan on putting some Bad Company on in the background at my next backyard BBQ.
Fantastic
Classic dad rock, can't fault it.
solid hard rock album with a few standout tracks 7/10
Very solid dad rock album
Very enjoyable listen. Great guitar work - no filler at all. Saved a couple of songs.
Solid. A Smashie & Nice 'Let's Rock' classic for a sunny roadtrip.
pretty dece
Cool old school alt rock sound, strong vocal, nice beat, and awesome melodies with occasional rock-style shouting.
loved it.
Route 66 vibes, but got a bit boring towards the end
Bad company by bad company with the song bad company. For real this was good I like it, I enjoyed the classic vibes of it, title track good and there's a really pretty slow song which is cool
Used to listen to bad company while playing battlefield bad company 2 in like 2010
great songs I guess I'm not that old.
It was an alright album, a solid entry into the hard rock genre.
Bad Company".
Very consistent bad. Paul Rodgers is underrated
First time I listened to a Bad Company album in its entirety although I already knew quite a few of the songs. There isn't all too much to say about the album. It's very good, but at the same time it's very standard rock-fare and just not interesting enough for a 5.
This album rocks - love it! Starts off strong with Can’t Get Enough of Your Love. Great album!
Un disco ok
I knew more songs than I remember. Good rock album.
Classic with a favourite song
Good ol classic rock
Needs just a little bit more to be a 5 star album. Very very good.
Paul Rogers innit. If he's good enough for Queen he's good enough for me
I think this album had so many classics all in one! I don't think this is close to a 5, but still falls in the 4 range. There was nothing too interesting here, but definitely a solid listen.
awesome album. so many memories!
Surprised how many songs I recognized. Will be likely to put this on more so than most other albums we have listened to
Big fan of the Bad Co. and this is a good album. “Movin’ On” is a lifetime favorite, and a lot of other good tunes here. I really like the soulful bluesyness on this solid Rock n Roll album. Upon listening, my mind wandered immediately to the other Paul Rogers (vocalist) albums I love - anything by Free, the Bad Company “Desolation Angels” LP and his solo blues album covering Muddy Waters - check it all out if you can. Easy 4.
generous 4
Classic album
This album just plain rocks, and still holds up. I don't really have anything else to add.
Promising, should listen again
Yes! Loved this!
Good, solid hard rock. I See it paving the way for heavier stuff! Song 'bad company' stands out more than everything else. Also I love that this is a supergroup where this band stands out more than any of the earlier bands. I guess Free was big? whatever.
Classic 70s rock album. Every song is good.
Pretty solid classic rock. Short and sweet.
This fine album.
7/10
not so bad=)
Timeless. Feel good music, with some great slow ballads.
Some phenomenal guitar work and some creative lyricism it balances it's ruggedness and tenderness really well.
-Classic rock tunes -What else to say, just a good rock album.
Fairly decent 70s rock. Good sound and highly polished. Never heard anything other than Bad Company's hits, so was nice to hear other B-sides. Favorite was The Way I Choose. Solid album.
une compagnie somme toute convenable
342/1089 this was an album that exists. i didn’t mind it but just found it suffered from a case of “good but has been done better” faves: The way i choose, Seagull 54/100
More enjoyable and less Spinal Tap than I expected - though, for a short album, the tracks go on a bit.
Nothing like listening to the song Bad Company off of the Bad Company album by Bad Company.
Dad rock. Nothing really exciting happens.
Two Megadeth albums in less than two weeks made me pause the project for a few days and now I'm going through the backlog.
a great time! recognised a few. very 70s
A pure example of Classic Rock from the 1970s. Nothing more, nothing less. Not essential, in the way that say a Black Sabbath is, but definitely an example of the more accessible beige style of hard rock from the 1970s. Often found playing on the stereos pubs/bars, cruisers, and in mechanic garages where someone is working on a muscle car. Favorite: the title track "Bad Company" Honorable Mention: "Seagull"
3 solid songs, sandwiched by similar, less remarkable songs
Prime example of classic dad rock. Not bad.
Plenty of good music, but in my opinion, nothing too special, nothing "great". I'm sure that'll change.
I like Bad Company. Really. But there’s a reason why I chose to listen to this list, and Bad Company is not it. It’s pleasant, but unoriginal rock music. I read that someone included it on a list of best heavy metal albums??? This isn’t heavy nor is it metal. This is Dad Rock, meant for classic rock radio and little else. There really is no reason to dissect it. I’m not giving it a good rating, even though I don’t mind hearing it. It doesn’t belong here. 2 stars for not belonging. 4 stars for the music I guess that’s 3 stars
Of all the 70s rock albums, this is definitely one of them
I liked this more that I was expecting to. This album is something of a meme in my mind, but I was thrilled to discover it's so much more than that. There's some great stuff here!
Would I listen again: maybe Another rock album I am neutral about.
7/10 - Fav Tracks: Every time I listened, I thought it was just meh. But on my final listen, it started to grow on me. But i think i'd prefer other 70s rock acts over Bad Co when all is said and done Heard before? ---–- ❌ Saved a Song? ----- ❌ Saved Album? --–-- ❌ Will Listen Again? -- ❌ Album Cover ------- band name ain't cool enough to do this 🥱
This was pretty good, but ultimately felt like it was missing something. Came off a bit generic. 3/5
#409 / 1089 Heard before? ❌ Revisit? ✅ I always thought Bad Company was a US band! Anyway, great blues rock album, classic rock staple, but it's not hard rock in my books and I find it weird it's in Kerrang's list of heavy metal albums. It's nice to hear that none of "Mott the Hoople" has carried onto this album, even their cover song sounds fine here. I might return to this one at some point, couple of tracks got my foot thumping. Strong 3/5
I knew nothing about Bad Company, had no idea they were technically a super group but they do have that bombastic sort of vibe of a band making a ‘debut’ that’s not really a debut for any of them. It’s a bit formulaic and standard hard rock but honestly there’s nothing wrong with that if it’s well executed and memorable. Which this is in places. The rhythm section is very solid and Paul Rodgers has a great voice for this kind of stuff; distinctive but also takes enough of a back seat that it doesn’t dominate. I found the slower moments a bit too schmaltzy with unnecessary sax and uninspired guitar solos but it’s good fun when they up the tempo. I don’t think I’ll be adding to my collection but I quite enjoyed listening to it and I won’t mind hearing its better moments again.
6.5/1
Not bad.
Solid 70’s rock, that’s about it. Not really what I’m into but this was totally fine with some decent moments. 1 listen Favorite Track: Title Track
This is a pretty average 70s rock album. I enjoy it well enough.
Another one where I knew the hits, but not the deeper cuts. This was a solid album. Definitely sort of sounded the same as the hits, but I enjoyed it still. 6/15/26
Not bad
Solid rock album.
Not bad. This reminds me of classical dad rock. Favourite Track(s): Ready for Love, Rock Steady Least Favourite Track(s): Movin' On
Heard of Bad Company, seen the singers face before, never heard any of these songs. It’s ight. 6/10
Dad Rock, but not bad. Just not that great either.
decent
Enjoyed a lot of tracks but never got into a rhythm with them
Good rock album
Alright classic rock. Maybe cause of the five finger death punch cover, or the word bad in the title, but I expected the whole band sound to be a bit harder than it was
Basic dad rock ig
Perfectly inoffensive. Relatively enjoyable. Slightly boring. I'd happily listen again but similarly wouldn't hurry back.
Decent rock album
This album was where rock seemed to really hit the formula. Would frequently leave ,or turn it off whenever it came on. I have warmed up to it a bit or maybe realized that rock formula bands have worse offenders.
Don't let me down slaps but i do have to agree it's a bit dad rocky and doesn't have much variety
good music, didn't like it so much
I think I liked the feeling of the album more than the album.
I don’t really feel like I needed to listen to this before I died
Best Track - "Bad Company"
Lot of well know songs on here.. classic 70s sound. What's not to like.
Not bad but like Arena Rock without the flair
Not super exciting, but it's a safe play in a work environment, etc.
Good rock album with strong vocals. Songs sound a bit generic though
Usually not exactly my thing, not something id dislike but perhaps something I wouldn't stick on. But this is great Light and breezy, short, packs a punch. Good
This was totally listenable to and fine. Had a little dance around, was a good length, no awful songs. Really nothing revolutionary, but good!
A decent love-focused dadrock album, doesn’t blow me away but it does its job. Standouts are rock steady, ready for love, bad company and the way i choose.
The rare triple threat of the band name, album and song within a single offering which is non threatening to the listener.
Not too bad. At least three classic rock songs on here. You can see this is the point where 70s hard rock is starting to really evolve away from the 60s sound into its own thing.
Album I would put on if I owned and ran a bar.
This was fine. Classic
Can’t Get Enough was a familiar and pleasant opener to the first Bad Company album I’ve listened to in full. By the time I got to Ready for Love (a cover) I was wondering to myself why I’d never explored this band further. Familiar with them by name and a hit or two (Feel Like Makin’ Love) I was impressed by this debut album and the second for Zeppelin’s Swan Song Records! Good ole classic rock.
Dad rock. Can’t get any more rock if u tried
I can see why this album was well-received… but I prefer Free. Free had the singer and drummer from Bad Company, and I love their albums. Bad Company to me is like a supergroup, but one of the better ones.
It aint bad but I just can't call it good. Of course, Bad Company on the album Bad Company by the band Bad Company is always a great song. I was just surprised how uninteresting the rest of the album really was.
Didn’t mind this, some decent songs though some felt a little generic
Ei nyt mikään mestariteos. 2,5/5.
3.4 It's some fairly average 70s rock, I guess it being '73 is pretty impressive, but other than the title track there's nothing that stands out as really impressive. It's all... Fine. Might have been a pivotal album at the time but I'm not hearing it.
There's no need to bust out the ol' deductive reasoning for this genre prediction, aye? Going by the band name, cover and year of release, there's nothing this could be other than a 70s hard rock album, right? Might as well just rip this one open. Here goes. I was more or less correct with my prediction, though I wasn't expecting the bluesy sound. I'm usually apathetic towards blues rock, but the hard rock/blues rock fusion works surprisingly well in the case of this album. The blues sound counterbalances the blown-out, shitty production which was common with a lot of hard rock albums from the time and the punchy, conventional hard rock songwriting counterbalances how dull blues music can be. As a result the album strikes a happy balance between its influences, featuring both solid instrumentals and vocals. The runtime is commendable as well, though if I'm to nitpick there is a significant decline in quality on the second side of this album. The music on that stretch isn't as lively, nor is it as focused or deliberate. Despite dragging its heels by the time it reached the finish line, the album is a competent listen overall. Book time. A supergroup comprised of members from Free, Mott the Hoople and King Crimson. "...Bad Company epitomizes good time, blues rock". The rest of the entry is just about how the band came to be and who they knew, notably the members of Led Zeppelin, who signed the band to their label. Wikipedia says this album had some successful singles, with some of the songs on this album being "...classic rock radio staples". The critic reaction was positive, though the album appears to have been a bit neglected judging by the number of ratings. The charts were more receptive to this album, however. The album topped the US Billboard chart and was met with similar success across the Anglosphere, being the 24th and 40th best-selling albums of the year in Australia and Canada. The supergroup phenomenon has always been interesting to me. You'd think that a bunch of established musicians collaborating with one another would produce a superalbum and a legion of superfans, though I've never witnessed such an outcome. Usually, the music garners a middling reaction from critics and a mild cultural impact at best. I guess such an outcome boils down to supergroups typically being comprised of musicians who are on the commercial end of the spectrum, and whose demographic don't care about band members as much as much they care about the music itself. Anyways, this album seems like a respectable enough pick. I cosign this inclusion.
Many years after the band The Band (the inventors of playing in a band) named their album The Band "The Band" as a way of one-upping the avant garde rebellion of The The, music had diversified and bands were more common. It was thought that everything had been done - that is, until Bad Company. Bad Company took a bold and radical step by taking The Band's anti-revolutionary tactics and pushing them to the absolute limit: The Lyric "Bad company..." in the song "Bad Company" off the album "Bad Company" by the band Bad Company, produced by Bad Company. This nuclear option in the war for self-referential supremacy threatened the very fabric of music as we know it. The casualties numbered in the thousands. ...wait, have I already done this joke? I'm losing track of my own lore.
I have always ejoyed their music. Mostly the radio-hits, bangers. Not sure if this is that great of an album but definitely your standard 70s rock
Better than I thought it would be
Have to give them a shout out for pulling off the trifecta of naming your band "Bad Company", titling your album "Bad Company" and having a song called "Bad Company".
As it says on Apple Music it's 'the definition of no-nonsense 70s hard rock' and I can't decide whether that''s a good thing or not. I know Paul Rodgers from Free, who I own a couple of albums of and on balance I think I prefer the more stripped back bluesy rock of his former band compared to this slightly more polished stadium-ready rock. It also struck me that there's Beatles influences on here whether it's the rather Revolution sounding Can't Get Enough or the "don't let me down" refrain from Don't Let Me Down which echoes the Beatles song of the same name. This is certainly not a bad album, I'm just not sure how good it really is.
Cool
Paul Rodgers is a pretty impressive singer of the Hard Rock school. All a bit slower than I expected. Would have liked more like the opening track.
This album was really polished and sounded great on a technical level but that almost worked in its detriment. As after I finished this, I was left with no sense of character or personality from this album. It is a undoubtedly great sounding album and each song is produced excellently, but it’s all so squeaky clean that I couldn’t find myself gravitating towards any sort of feeling about it.
Not bad, but nothing special.
Once again finding myself in a situation where I genuinely wonder if an album on this list is actually "essential". Is it because this is basically a supergroup? What about this is "cutting edge" or "essential" for the genre? It sounds so middle of the road and the only song here I genuinely enjoy deeply is the title track, which I've already heard more than I ever planned to thanks to its repetition on classic rock radio (and being a retail employee, that gets old real quick).
Decent. Ultimately: very forgettable.
Features some all time classics for sure and feels right at home with that "classic rock" vibe. The deeper cuts aren't nearly as good as the songs everyone knows.
Bastante inocuo.
Pretty good. 3.5
Zuhause, Gerstetten, Deutschland. Ganz gut.
A completely insignificant album. It didn't get on my nerves, but I also forgot about it immediately. 3/5
Decent classic rock album. Nothing crazy.
A fine album, that's for sure, but an exquisite one? I don't know...
3,5
wel groovers ma ni zo speciaal
Bad Company is a good song. The rest of the album is pretty mediocre though, nothing too exciting. Maybe they just wanted to have the song with the album name with the band name pop and everything else to be mid.
Vocals are fairly good, though pretty bland. Instrumentation is just generic rock (guitar/bass/drums). There was the odd semi-decent guitar solo, but most of the riffs throughout the tracks were pretty bland. Not bad at all, but also didn't really do anything all that interesting. Completely listenable, reasonably enjoyable, definitely Dad-rock. Not sure I have much specific to comment on... Low 3.
Dad rock I didn’t hate. Beautiful vocals. Nothing really grabbed me except a good piano bit near the middle.
Solid rock & roll. I can appreciate this. While I think that objectively it's a great album, subjectively it didn't make me feel particularly engaged, hence the three rather than four stars.
A competent rock offering, but without the nostalgia glasses it's kind of impressive how much 'nothing' this album evokes from me (aside from the PTSD I feel from hearing "Bad Company" and "Can't Get Enough" 1000s of times on FM radio in the car as a kid). More than anything else, to me it feels like a testament to just how far rock has evolved in the 50+ years since this supergroup laid down their pivotal debut offering. So yeah, idk. It's fine.
Bad Company, more like good company am I right? Honestly theres not a ton to say Bad Company's eponymous record. It's pretty good fun, and the tunes all have the energy of a guy slinging on his leather jacket, and walking into <insert manly place where guy is going to kick ass here>. I just know that Johnny Lawrence from the Karate Kid (and Kobra Kai) would absolutely love them, and I don't mean that as an insult. Glad I know who they are now, but it left a fairly minimal impression on me beyond "I bet this absolutely slapped in the 80s".
Will today's sexed-up pop anthems written by the likes of Harry Styles and Sabrina Carpenter one day sound as corny and dated as songs like Ready for Love do now? Maybe, but that doesn't change my opinion on how cringeworthy songs like this from the 70s sound to me. I suppose it was easier for me to understand when the songs were performed by bands like Led Zeppelin, who this band seems heavily inspired by (although who wasn't back then). To me, this just sounds like a band that desperately wants you to think they're cool, while simultaneously pretending not to care about other people's opinions about them. Like the musical embodiment of the fake tough guy energy that people who ride their loud ass Harleys around town have. The singer sounds like someone who was blessed with the proper vocal anatomy to be a good rock singer, but also lacked the ear to tell how off-key he is most of the time. That being said, some of the songs were still kind of fun to listen to, and I totally understand how this music would have been popular 50 years ago. I just think it hasn't aged well overall, and that it doesn't belong in the year 2026. It lacks the lyrical cleverness and timeless instrumentation that has allowed some 70s bands to remain popular throughout the years.
Eh?
Good album reminded me of life is a highway (the other played in cars) and a worse audioslave but still good . 3.5 starts
Pretty alright 70s generic rock. I've never listened to them beyond the popular radio hits. Solid 3 here I think.
Solid blues rock. High 3 stars, but can’t quite round up to 4.
I hadn’t heard or recognized their songs and they were rather good
some classic rock standards. enjoy their variety and mixing in some other different instruments.
good old US of A rock n roll. Some good tunes on here .
fun
I was expecting a big dumb rock record, and there was some of that. But there was also a lot of songs that I didn’t expect. All in all, I can see why it’s a classic.
Listened previously. Expectations: High - Verdict: Very Good - This is basically classic rock distilled into one album. Riffs, horny lyrics, solos, it has it all. A very nostalgic album for me. The title track is an absolute masterpiece.
In my summary, Classic Rock is currently my third favourite style. The 1970s are correctly my favourite decade. And I am a dad. Despite all these factors suggesting this should be right in my wheelhouse I found this album pretty sterile.
2/8, 25%
This album manages to be so uncool it reverts back around to being really cool. I want to call this boring generic 70s rock, and it is, but it manages to be the perfect distillation of that. Bad Company as a song is to me the epitome of macho posturing with literally no backing, have you seen a picture of these dudes? They’re not scary at all. But fuck it, I guess they’re kinda bad. But then the rest of the album falls flatter and is kinda the boring shit side of 70s rock. Soft. Tired. Boring.
Okay, expecting hard hitting dad rock that doesn’t have too much depth but brings a bit of grit… Yeh, hunch was pretty much spot on. The perfect backdrop for a denim clad biker bar in the US. I mean it does what it does pretty well, but just not my bag, really. A bit too cheesy and predictable for me
Just in and out dad rock. Not amazing, not terrible. I'll always chuckle then the sign Bad Company by the band Bad Company on the album Bad Company comes on. Didn't know they were British or a quasi-supergroup, or that they still tour.
I should start taking shots when I get an album and its a rock album (+1 more if its English). on first listen, I really liked Movin' On. overall not a bad album at all but to get a 4 or a 5 will require albums to tug on my heart a bit. so 3 but not bad at all
This seems to be your common or garden early 70s rock album. Less awful than many, but nothing to write home about. I'll be generous because it was presumably sounding fresh and new back in the day.
Very 70's rock, cowbell and all. And while this album does have a couple of classic tracks like 'Ready For Love' and 'Bad Company', it's largely forgettable. I prefer the grittier-sounding bands of the era, chiefly Led Zeppelin. The production here was just too clean, sounding like they washed everything in the studio with soapy water and forgot to dry things off. Just such a strangely damp sound.
Pretty decent classic rock that I wouldn't mind if it was on, but wouldn't really go out of my way to listen to. What I find rare about bands similar to this, however, is that many have rather poor vocalists, but Paul Rodgers is an incredible singer. Bumps this up to a high 3.
As straight down the centre of the MOR as it is possible to get.
Slow, jammy, rock. Rodger’s vocals are clear and strong. Not something that’d be going on my regular rotation list, but nice.
the whole album i heard over FM radio growing up, hit after hit …
Pretty good as Dad rock goes.
A perfectly cromulent album. There's nothing exciting about this, and nothing bad about it. The needle sits perfectly in the middle. Not a single fist pump or foot tap from me, but I also never thought it was anything other than well played and well put together.
It’s an ok album with a couple of ok songs
3.5 stars. English blues/hard rock. Varies a bit with some piano-led stuff, ballad-y tracks and more basic rock and roll. Some of it is decent, some of it is meh. Clean production and good lead singer makes it easy to understand why it was popular. Standout is "Rock Steady" along with acoustic ender "Seagull". Title track is also good, but get irrationally annoyed when a song, album, and band all share the same name.
3.5 Wasn’t looking forward to this but this ended up being pretty solid dad rock. Especially liked the sequence of songs in the middle; they’re rocking. Listened to this twice! At barely over 30 minutes long, it goes down realllll easy.
Pretty fun listen. I'm familiar with the hits but this was a great album to get ready for and drive to work to this morning. Quite motivating. Some of it was a little samey dad-rock but overall a decent listen.
There's really not much to say about this, pretty standard rock affair. I had a pretty good morning after this though, I was talking to my friend Bill for like an hour this morning, it was great. Favorites: Ready for Love, Bad Company, Seagull
good, but fairly soft recording, lots of familiar songs but wish they were live
A couple really good songs that carried the album.
Clean simple rock. Recognizable by multiple generations. It’s a solid album, but overproduced.
Generic 70s rock
I get these guys mixed up with Whitesnake all the time, which is likely a huge insult to both bands. Sorry. BC does have some good swaggery songs on here, but I confuse the bands because they both do the tiresome “admire my schlong” rock that I’ve outgrown.
3.0
roque
I was obsessed in my youth by Bad Company in order to diversify my classic rock pallette. But under 15 years have passed and I can tell you there are some good sounds, riffs and rock themes here but the bulk of it is just blasè classic rock.
Classic rock mediocrity.
That's definitely some early 70s classic rock, all right. Not much else to say. 3.5*
Nostalgic
Inledningen osar glamrock i boogie woogie-tappning. Framförallt mittenpartiet med titel- och bandnamnslåten, och souliga Don’t let me down och The way I choose.
Vibes: 2 Instruments: 3 Production: 4 Emotional Value: 4 Storytelling: 2 AC: 0 Stand Outs: Ready for Love, Bad Company Overall: 3 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I like the classic rock feel, but it just didn't really move me
Aivan täysin ok rock-levy, joskin ehkä vähän tylsänpuoleinen.
Favorite: Rock Steady
Fair basic.
It's OK. Paul's a good singer, but I'm just more luke-warm to BadCo than I used to be. Not exactly sure why, honestly.
nice
Way moodier than I thought. I’m more fascinated about them after learning they also recorded at the hallowed Henley Grange and were good friends with Led Zeppelin.
Fun one, for sure, on a cold Saturday. Grocery shopping.
Grand, You han hear how influential it was, a little bit bland for my taste
3.5
I've noticed in the last few years my interest in classic rock has dropped sharply, at least for the stuff I wasn't already into. I usually try to look at albums (especially the ones on this list) with the context of the time, but I'm struggling with that a bit here because the sound has become so homogenised. There are literally endless that play stuff like this now and I struggle to separate it from that to judge it on its own merit I'm sure this was really cool in 1974, but I find it a bit bland. Everything is competently done, but nothing really stands out or is particularly memorable. The vocalist has potential, he sometimes swerves into a Robert Plant style. He would suit something more upbeat or exciting, but the instrumentation is just too lax. The saxophone is cool on Don't Let Me Down though, they should've utilised that a bit more Decent enough but I won't return to it Highlights: Don't Let Me Down
I hated the first track but it got better from there. In “Rock Steady” I heard the basis of early Soundgarden.
Bad company by bad company, featuring the song bad company. This was solid “hard” rock but none of it stood out to me at all. Very consistent though. High 3.
A serviceable classic rock album from a band that certainly did not deserve induction into the rock hall of fame this year. However, they do achieve the triple crown of "bad company" by Bad Company on Bad Company which is always funny when a band does it.
It fine... I guess, However, the production on a few of these tracks is straight garbage.
like yeah, that song’s good

Solid 1970s no-nonsense rock album. Lotta hits on this one.
meh dad rock
Mediocre noises.
Good solid Rock album! Would listen again.
It’s a bit more dynamic than what I’m used to from this period. Will add more notes later, high 3.
5/10
Solid old school rock
A 3. Title track is iconic.
Couple of known tracks but fairly ordinary sound. Seems there are better bands in this genre
a little more variability than i was expecting from this band
boring but fine
a quanto pare l'ho sentito
Started off promising but got bland later on!
Ok, had some decent moments.
Jamais réussi à accrocher sur Bad Company.
Can't Get Enough 3.3 Rock Steady 3.5 Ready for Love 3.6 Don't Let Me Down 3.4 Bad Company 3.7 The Way I Choose 3.3 Movin' On 3.5 Seagull 3.1 Score: 3.425
I bet they were better live.
Solid dad rock!
This mix was way better than what I used to hear on the radio.
I liked this and it was nice to have a change. I felt like it was quite a generic sounding rock album, but I think it was slightly ahead of its time. It sounds like the influence, not like it has been influenced, which I think is a hard task. I recognised a few songs on this album, but none I could name. Favourite song: rock steady
…til the day I die. Bad Co. is a hits band, but we love them for it. This debut album by the 70s “lovers rock” has some surprisingly good songs that aren’t the 3 main hits, but the hits are so catchy, you forget the others very quickly. I’m still convinced the best use of Bad Company’s music is in the movie “Scotland, PA,” which is Shakespeare’s Macbeth, but is set in and around a 70s fast food burger joint. It’s also the first time I heard the term “Rock Block.” 3.6/5. (Should I round up, you think?)
Pure 70s Gold. Still ridiculous and pretty dumb, but would put this on over KISS’s 1998 arena crock-of-shit “Psycho Circus” 10/10 times. I mean. C’mon! Bad Co is waaaay more satanic than KISS EVER was! If you play “Can’t Get Enough Of Your Love” backwards, it gives you directions on how to open the portal to hell. Turns out it’s in Valentine, Nebraska!
Perfect for the long drive down the North American West Coast
Wasnt half bad enjoyed it, nice and calming. Recommend but not a crazy album. 6/10
Shorter than I remembered, a slim 35 mins. Classic 70 rock
Decent.
Rockmusik die dein 60 jähriger Onkel hört
Is there any band that represents classic rock FM more than these guys? It screams construction site, biker bar, DAVE FM. Now, was that who they were in the original context? Maybe not. Maybe they were just a band that bowled right down the middle, roping in elements of rock, country, soul, and blues - with just a great sensibility for what makes a mainstream hit. I can’t say that I love it, but it’s not BAD.
Cool basic rock. Nothing that feels very revolutionary. Seems like some nice execution of that style. A precursor to bon Jovi maybe? Quite surprisingly enjoyable, given that I'm struggling to identify anything particularly interesting about it.
Better than Coldplay
If I were a dad, I’d be like hell yea. But I’m not, so I’ll say “just the usual”
I don’t feel any particular way about this album as well.
Soft rock that goes hard.
dad rock but I don't hate it
The more I listened to this, the more I didn't enjoy it
Starts strong and drops off after ready for love.
Feels like the music industry trying desperately to hold onto white boy blues rock in its purest form. Banal lyricism with some fun moments. Reminds me of 107.7 the bone’s interstitial ads. Who shoots seagulls?
In a modern context this is a straight down the middle quality rock record. I’m sure it blew people’s minds at the time. 3/5
Bad Company by Bad Company on the album Bad Company doesn’t have the same aura that Black Sabbath by Black Sabbath on the album Black Sabbath has. It’s could always be worse company. Absolute meat and potatoes rock. Built to fill the dead air of classic rock radio between Stairway and Welcome To The Jungle after the morning show but before the midday DJ starts. I will not complain about listening to this, but not much more than that. Favorite songs were Can’t Get Enough, Ready For Love, and Bad Company.
Sometimes dudes just want to rock out
Paul Rodgers has an incredible voice for rock. The songs on this album are just ok though.
The iconic album cover has always caught my eye and with the pedigree of the musicians, I was expecting something a little more exciting than competent blues rock but I guess that's enough for most.
Now that’s what I call dad rock vol 20! A pretty good collection of hard rock from the 70’s. Nothing exceptional here but not a bad album either. Just straightforward rock n roll. The perfect length for a rock record too imho.5/10 Favorite tracks-“Can’t Get Enough” “Don’t Let Me Down”
Started off reasonably well but got a bit samey after a while
good rock with a lack of heart
It was fine, pretty generic 70s rock. I like 70s rock but probably wouldn't listen to this particular album again. I'd give it 2.5 stars, but I'll round up to 3 because of Don't Let Me Down. I particularly liked the sax and guitar solos in that song.
Very good album from. A good band. Nothing out of this world but good listening to good pop rock.
More dad rock.
Pretty good, didn't expect to like it as much as I did
This is the medicore white dude music that I enjoy. 3.4.
This is the epitome of Dad Rock. Personal enjoyment: 3/5 Relevance to this list: 4/5
It's solid, maybe a little too clean and polished, lacks an edge maybe. But it's am enjoyable enough listen, great vocals and musicianship.
Rock steady mid-70s rock. Nothing to complain about and nothing to write home about either. Don't know if I realized how many Bad Company songs were staples of the classic rock radio of my younger days.
It's a very average hard rock album, which is a fat meatball over the plate for me, but wasn't a notable listening experience. 2.75
Bad Company is a band I have heard of but never dove into any of their music, my only real association with it is that Paul Rodgers' daughter, Jasmine Rodgers' is in the band bôa. Anyways, for today's 1001 albums to hear before I die I got Bad Company's debut album Bad Co(mpany). This project is a pretty laid back and groovy Rock album that fits the stereotypical mold of the times so beautifully it almost hurts a bit. Everything from rocking to sappy love songs are all encapsulated in this 34 minute run-through of just about your standard Rock album for the time. This album isn't remarkable or even all that memorable by any means, but I can't lie and say it isn't good if barely even so. There really isn't much to say or look at here and I again question why this album was even included, especially when the popular song here isn't even all that good or special. This album kind of does its own thing and takes its' time which can be a bit frustrating as you wish it would get on with itself a lot faster or in a more meaningful way, but it truly doesn't care about what you think or want. Bad Company's debut self titled album is definitely a project I wouldn't mind hearing again, but is far from being essential in my eyes and that is quite evident even from the beginning.
Peak dad rock right here. This “supergroup” quartet definitely has some chops - a good singer, good musicians. But the end result is underwhelming. Sure, each song is a good enough straight-ahead rock song, and the album spawned some ubiquitous AOR singles like the great “Bad Company” and some others. Still, nothing that special here.
I feel like this could be better described as "mild" company - nothing to standout of horrible. 3/5
Bad Company are known as a hard rock band, but there's nothing particularly hard about this album. I'd much rather listen to this than Back in Black or whatever. This dude can sing.
Bland company more like
bout as cookie cutter classic rock as it gets
Rock, 1974 -> 3
rock on bro
Solid album, carries it's weight even after all these years.
Generic rock. At times good (Bad Company is solid), but mostly forgettable. The latter half of the album is enough to fend off 2 stars, but not by much.
I thought this was a nice album but it didn't register for me that much.
The dad rock album of dad rock albums. Way overplayed on classic rock radio but admittedly, there's enough decent songs on here to give it a passing grade.
Way too crisply precise to be real bad boys. Dad Company, more like.
Solid effort here. 3.5 stars
it was good… nothing surprising but nice to listen to
Pretty average, dad rock
Mid dad rock
Straight ahead and enjoyable rock.
Basically the experience of listening to a mid classic rock station for half an hour.
While this album sounded very good, it was one of the more kosher and meats and potatoes rock records I've heard. I don't know why, but this just feels extremely... fake and uninspired? Songs were naturally about them being bad company and they liked to pick up chicks, but it just didn't feel believable. When Motörhead sings about picking up chicks and drinking whiskey for breakfast I can believe it, but here it just feels... not so cool. The tracks were decent otherwise, but nothing that really grabs me at all. Quite boring record overall, but probably decent jam in a rock bar. Weak 3.
Meat and Potatoes blues rock. I think “Can’t get enough of Your Love” was on my “Greatest rock songs compilation album” which was my first endeavor to my own music journey that wasn’t songs on the radio or music my parents listen to (although it was my dad’s CD). Bad Company feels like a slightly forgotten band which is too bad because they are quite skilled. They don’t have too many hits but it is just nice easy-going rock. It is a good length, and I enjoyed listening to it. Strongish 3.
Not bad but a it’s a bit outdated now. It was a pleasant experience to listen to it but I won’t come back for a second run.
Acceptable generic classic rock. The very definition of dadrock to me. It's got a few hits, it's got some well made deepcuts, it's the average length of an album. It's not really an important album, just one of the many classic rock albums people like that you still hear on radio stations. It's fine all in all.
Didn't pay too much attention to be honest, but it seemed alright, nothing special.
As much as I am a sucker for 70s rock, I never really liked Bad Company. I remember how I was excited in my early teens - I like Mott The Hoople, I love King Crimson and Free was (and is) one of my favourite bands since I was 12 years old. I REALLY wanted to love Bad Company, because I loved all the musicians. But I couldn't. Musicianship is fantastic, but songwriting is just boring. There's some nice hooks in Can't Get Enough and Movin' On and listening to it again today I realized that Seagull is great. But the rest of this stuff is just painfully unmemorable, when you think of what talented people are behind this one. This is probably the only one hard/blues rock from 70s that will get 3/5 from me. ALBUM THAT YOU SHOULD LISTEN BEFORE YOU DIE INSTEAD: Free - Tons Of Sobs (1968).
You got me a birthday gift for my birthday on my birthday? Pretty good album. Or should I say bad?
Album with songs for a playlist to listen to while driving to work. But not the entire album.
pretty middling arena rock, nothing really very deep in any of it
Probably the most boring pioneering hard rock album ever. Thank you to the esteemed woman abuser Ivan Moody & Co. of Five Finger Death Punch for at least sprucing up the track Bad Company a bit. The Way I Choose was definitely a standout track. I feel like this band's sound really ought to to be rooted in blues, not hard rock. The Way I Choose is such a damn banger. Anyways, this album is still a good listen - just not quite up my alley. I still had a good time!
Maybe one of the most middle of the road albums I have heard on this list. I’m fairly convinced that ‘Rock Steady’ was not just a song on this album but rather a mantra for the group. They’re here to play serviceable music and not rattle any cages while doing so. This one was really missing any kind of sauce to either help or hinder its chances at ranking elsewhere, which almost makes me want to duck its score for unoriginality. Though I think I would find much worse company among some of the music I have scored down there anyway.
I had to think about it a bit but this is really a very plain album. I think if any track here came on I would gladly listen to it, but I didn’t find it memorable, and I don’t think I’ll be going out of my way to listen again.
Album is OK as a casual rock album
First few songs were boring got better song 4 onwards but more of background sound than something I really like
First impression: Not particularly noteworthy but serviceable rock album - very clean production which I enjoyed. The last song was especially pleasant.
Bad Company’s inaugural album arrives with an impressive pedigree: a supergroup featuring Mick Ralphs (Mott The Hoople), Boz Burrell (King Crimson), and Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke (Free). Each musician is highly skilled, and Paul Rodgers, in particular, possesses an exceptional, soulful voice. On paper, this record should be an ideal fit for my tastes. Yet, after many years of collecting and listening to albums, I’ve never connected with it enough to revisit it more than once or twice—nor have I felt compelled to purchase it. I first became aware of this album around 1978, during a period when Bad Company was still active. However, at the time, the musical landscape was crowded with acts like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, and a formative AC/DC. The latter really made an impression with their energy and performances. As my musical journey continued, the emergence of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal drew my attention toward bands such as Iron Maiden, Saxon, Def Leppard, Judas Priest, and Motorhead. To its credit, “Bad Company” is a finely played and well-produced album. Still, for me, it falls just short of entering the upper echelon of rock records. There’s an elusive quality missing—perhaps it’s too polished, or maybe it lacks a spark of excitement. The album doesn’t quite “rock” in the way I hope for; it’s short on truly up-tempo tracks and is missing a certain groove. Even the title track, “Bad Company,” while well-crafted, never fully delivers the energy it promises. Ultimately, this debut is a solid record, but for my personal tastes, it doesn’t go beyond that. A respectable effort, but not essential. I'm probably doing it a disservice but three stars. Would I listen to this album again? Yes. Would I buy this album? I haven't so far, so probably not. 1- Can't Get Enough"- 4 2- "Rock Steady"- 4 3- "Ready for Love" - 3 4- "Don't Let Me Down"- 3 5- "Bad Company"- 4 6- "The Way I Choose"- 3 7- "Movin' On"- 3 8- "Seagull"- 3 Total - 27 Average - 3.375
Paul Rodgers has a nice voice, and I enjoyed most of the songs on this album. I liked the sultry tones throughout, and it suited the Rodgers’s voice well. A good listen, albeit a bit generic.
Not my personal cup of tea
This album really must have blazed the trail for middle of the road classic rock with lyrics that are mostly the title of the song on repeat.
3.4
Platonic ideal of a 3 star album. Fun to listen to but not coming back. Brownie points for having a hit that shares the band’s name… that takes balls
