Reviews (page 7 of 9)

Meh. I've never been overly impressed by these guys.

Pretty generic classic rock. Guitar and vocals were both excellent, but this didn't really do much for me.

You can't be a 12 year old from the Boston area and not have a big Aerosmith phase. After your Boston phase, that is. We don't have many bands! I don't know how much they hold up for me now, they kind of give off the vibes of theater kids playing rockers, it feels a bit dated now, but it's still pretty fun to hear Walk this Way and Sweet Emotion in context. Big Ten Inch in between them is a bit cringe, just a standard blues track behind an extended dick joke. I'd go 3.5 for nostalgia's sake but 4 is too far for me 18 years later haha. Man, Steven Tyler loves songs about crying lol.

Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion saved this one. Not a big Aerosmith fan.

Pretty good hard rock borrowing more from Les Zeppelin than I previously noticed. The songs on this album are better than almost all of their later hits.

If I wanted to listen to Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones I’d do that. To me Aerosmith is a poor man’s imitation of these acts, and aside from “Sweet Emotion” (an absolute banger) nothing on here blew me away. Round and Round” was another highlight and had some great lead guitar by Joe Perry.

kinda meh

Fine, I guess. Nothing special. Would have scored lower without the hit songs.

Aside from Sweet Emotions (my fave), the rest of the songs were fine. Standard Aerosmith - heavy guitar, busy.

The most interesting and enjoyable Aerosmith album on this list by a long way. Whilst the other two go all in on the Aerosmith classic rock, this is much for varied in style. It includes 1950s Rock 'n' Roll (Big 10 Inch Record), a touch of psychedelia (Sweet Emotion), and is it me, or does Shenia Twain's 'Man I Feel Like A Woman' owe a lot to 'Uncle Salty'? It still has big riffs, but the variety gives them breathing space and allows them to stand out, rather than getting lost in unrelenting bigness like on 'Pump' and 'Rocks'. Rating: 3.5/5 Playlist track: Walk This Way Date listened: 27/08/23

Suck on my big ten inch...classy.

sounds classic. Some songs were so listeneable like Walk this way o Sweet emotions, but in this context were really great. Maybe Round and round was my fav, sounds heavy, good riff but a little bit repetitive. Good album, like it

This wasn’t very special. Sweet Emotion is an all time classic of a jam and Walk This Way is a rollicking good track but the rest is just ok at best, there’s some peaks but overall it’s unmemorable and Bog Ten Inch is fucking dumb as shit. 3 stars I guess

I really enjoy Aerosmith and I know this is one of their best albums, but the band really has a lot of unrealized potential. It shows on songs like Sweet Emotion where their experimentation is at its best. They are capable of great songs, but then fill the album with half baked, completely forgettable tracks. Everything else is great, I just wish the writing had a little more attention paid to it. 3/5

Ah fuck all my notes have disappeared! Anyway, I was surprised at how much I liked it, as I'm not a metal fan or whatever genre they were at this time in their career. Interesting sound, at times sounded a bit like a heavy Bolan/T Rex, mixed with blues. But you can hear the influence they must have had on the hideous soft rock from the 80's. Best tracks; Walk This Way and the second half of the album. - 3

This ain't too bad, restrains itself from typical cock-rock indulgence and awful solo's for the most part. I didn't love any of the tracks, but for the perhaps the first time on this list with a hard rock album, I didn't actively hate any of the tracks. Solid 3/5 Fav Track: Sweet emotion

Certainly an improvement on 'Pump', this one I found myself getting into a bit more. Still quite a fair bit of style I don't fully gel with, and there's some fairly cringeworthy lyricism, but there were some good catchy moments in here and I found myself pleasantly surprised by most of the album. A two and a half. Fave track: Sweet Emotion

Good album. Walk this way and sweet emotions are best. Adam's Apple is a solid track. I wish you could give half stars on this site.

Not my jam. There are some good songs that have endured so that is something. 3 stars

It’s ok

Prima muziek hier en daar, maar wel wat over the top. Niet echt essentieel bovendien. Hits zijn goed.

Only like 2 songs were really good, the rest were nothing special.

A couple of real bangers and the rest is pretty solid.

I get the glam influence. I didn’t find this to be essential or especially great. The hits are good, but the rest feels like filler. I’ll go 3 due to the hits, but this is really a 2.

Walk This Way is such a classic but I think my fave from this album is Sweet Emotion. Round And Round certainly borrows it's style from some of my favourite bands so that was an interesting twist on this album.

Meh. Fine but meh. That's my general feelings of Aerosmith though.

I've always thought that I like hard rock, but as this journey goes on, I'm realizing that I just like Led Zeppelin and thought I would like any generic version of their sound. "Walk This Way" is a gem, though.

Its ok. fairly standard hair rock

who the fuck was singing half of that album? we all know what aerosmith sound like and well over half this album wasn't them. that has really thrown me. i can't decide if i liked it or not because i was just desperately trying to picture it being sung by the aerosmiths.

It was a bit like a tribal penis inversion

Aerosmith was the first rock band I had the pleasure of getting to know. Being a young lad and being primarily exposed to the great Guitar Hero series of games, it was like a gateway drug to rock music. Of course, this led to me learning more than a 6th grader ought to about Aerosmith. This band is akin to the Rolling Stones in that they're 1. rooted in blues rock, and 2. relying heavily on singles. Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion are bonafide classic tracks, and even the title track is worth a listen, but everything else is run-of-the-mill blues-inspired hard rock. Aerosmith knew how to rock, there was no doubting that, but their capacity to write great songs was inconsistent. This is especially true for ballads, which all but sucked.

Pretty mediocre album in my opinion. Definitely better then Pump though. The guitar sounds where definitely the highlight of this album for me, especially the solo on "No More No More", but the whole album is still not something i would listen to again.

Not my fav band but some truly sick riffs in this. I have to respect

I've never been a big Aerosmithhead but this album is very solid. It's just that good time rock n roll. Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion are classics. Big Ten Inch Record is a hilarious cover - love that dick innuendos found their way into songs (original Bull Jackson version is from 1952) over 70 years ago.

Not the biggest fan of Aerosmith. Talented guys but their music is lame. Adam's Apple seems like it was made exclusively to deliver a handful of Bible puns someone came up with, and it sucks. This would get a 2 except that Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion are absolutely fantastic songs.

Dig it

Another decent Aerosmith album. Color me surprised. I enjoyed this one pretty well. It's got enough variety to keep me interested. I still don't like Aerosmith overall, but I was happy not to hate this. 3.25/5

Some pretty solid 70s riff rock. The guitar lines are catchy and satisfying, sounds like they would be a lot of fun to play. The standout tracks are the big singles, (sweet emotion and walk this way) as well as the heaviest track "round and round." I cannot stand these horny-ass lyrics. Especially knowing Steven Tyler's underage groupie story, some of these songs really leave a bad taste in my mouth. "Big ten inch record" is a garbage fire song. Overall, a few really good tracks but also lots of filler imo.

"Sweet Emotion" is undeniably excellent, but the rest of the album's just okay. Aerosmith's one of those rare groups that actually got better over the decades. I definitely prefer their stuff from the '80s and '90s.

decent dad rock but nothing spectacular for me. the best songs on the album IMO I already knew. favorites: walk this way, toys in the attic

Some very good/notable songs. Album overall not great.

Three half-decent songs, a lot of bog standard 70s rawk filler and an embarrassment in 'Big Ten Inch Record'. Why is it that there's a bunch of guys who consider themselves Good Sex Men who feel they need to whack a hokey jazz number on their albums? David Lee Roth, I'm looking at you here... Underwhelming, but listenable. Just about scrapes to three stars.

J'aime toujours autant Walk This Way, qui demeure un classique.

I knew it would eventually come that someone who's personal life makes it difficult to truly enjoy their work - your Kanyes and Eric Claptons. Unfortunately Steven Tyler falls right into that category; if you don't know, he had an underage groupie right around the time of this album whose parents he convinced to allow him to adopt so he could take her on the road and fuck her - it's really gross. A lot of the lyrical content of this album feels extra icky with that knowledge. That being said, I did my best to listen as objectively as I could, so here's what my review would be with no preconceived notions: I'm a child of New England, so of course I grew up with Aerosmith. In my "classic rock is the only real music" phase I would have loved this, but my tastes have drifted and it just doesn't do it for me anymore. I still love Sweet Emotion, though.

For me Aerosmith are not quite up there with the true rock greats, this album didn't convince me otherwise

2 classics (Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion), but didn't really care for anything else. Big Ten Inch Record is actually awful.

It was OK - Walk this way is a great song (though Run DMC made it better)

I get that this is a classic album, but I'm just not an Aerosmith fan.

Was riding my bike to work today and had an encounter with an older man. It’s not like i whizzed by him or anything and slowed down to essentially a stop and politely asked to get by. Same thing as I do every day and no one ever has a problem. “You’re have to get off walk the bike on the bridge there’s signs”. I say “alright” and shrug it off start to resume pedaling… “but people like you think you’re special, think you can do whatever you want”. Now I stop, get off my bike and turn around. “ I was going very slow and was nothing but respectful. I don’t understand your issue, how did I inconvenience you in any way?” “You didn’t”, he responds “but people like you think they’re better than everyone” “No, YOU are the one who thinks they’re better than everyone. You took it upon yourself to enforce rules that are not your job to enforce. I did nothing to you and you’ve decided it’s your job to tell me what to do. What the hell is wrong with you?”. I ride off. As I’m riding away I look down to see our argument has gained the attention of fisherman below. “Fuck you, dickhead” echoes from behind as I ride into the wind. Based on our brief encounter, he seems pretty miserable. Maybe he has a lot going on. I hope things improve for him. Album was good, I’ve always liked Aerosmith. Ranking something like this is hard because I’ve known all of these songs forever. How would I feel if I had just heard it for the first time?

Good hard rock but nothing that really interests me. But I liked the good vibes.

I came of age with late 80s/early 90s Aerosmith so for me this record lacks the special sauce that makes Aerosmith fun to listen to. But I understand a lot of purists think 70s Aerosmith is best because you get actual rock without all the affected bullshit airs being put on. Call me crazy, but I prefers the airs to be put on. Here you can see the gradual build up to what they’ll ultimately become. The upward trajectory is just starting to climb towards full-blown Steven Tyler screech singing glory. The singles rule, the rest is okay.

No bubbles here. The staple for this band was in abundance but there are signs of being conflicted with the closers on each side. Very much out of step with the rest.

Didn't really enjoy or dislike it. "Generic" rock imo, didn't stir any emotions or anything, but then there wasn't anything that I didn't like about it, so I guess it is a weak 3 for me, just in the middle.

The albums breath surprised me. From "toys in the attic" which felt like classic rock, to "Big ten inch record" which was old school Rock N Roll, to "Round and Round" which has taken inspiration from heavy metal and "When the levee breaks". Most of these tracks felt like they weren't as good as some the ones they had taken inspiration from. All in all an I liked the album where Sweet emotion is a highlight.

It’s ok but nothing more Prefer the REM cover of the title track and the RUN DMC version of Walk This Way There’s a lot that hasn’t stood the test of time particularly well, but equally nothing that’s terrible

I was highly anticipating this album as I haven’t listened to Aerosmith in ages nor even a full album of theirs. Walk this way and sweet emotion are classic rock songs. The rest of the album was decent.

Much better than anticipated. Some of the bigger hits have worn out their welcome. I like how song styles change pretty frequently to mix things up. Last track kind of soured the overall experience.

I like this album a fair bit more than Rocks. I like Sweet Emotion but it's in the Queen - We Will Rock You bucket of songs I would be content to never hear again because overexposure. Walk This Way is still excellent, great groove. No More No More is another that still gets regular radio play. The first and last tracks are my least favorite. The title track, something about it feels insistent in a really unpleasant way. The last song, I see what they were trying to do with the strings and pleasant major chord progressions but it didn't at all land for me.

Decent...I don't love Aerosmith but enjoy some of the highlights on this album...Sweet Emotion, Walk this Way, absolute classics. 3/5

I've never really cared for Aerosmith, though I recognize that "Dream On" is a legit great song, and "Sweet Emotion" is pretty cool, too. So I went into this expecting to shrug my shoulders and give it a 2. But side two of this album is actually pretty dope. I dig how weird they can get at times. I actively dislike "Walk This Way," though. In fact, I found most of side one kind of mid-to-bad. So, this is more of a 2.5, but let's round up to 3.

Not the greatest collection of songs, but they're not bad, and they're well made with lots of energy and fun. Sweet Emotion is great

A solid album. Walk this way is clearly the stand out track though.

Bluesy, hard rock. Heavy metal influence/ innovation. The title track has a motorhead feel but a few years earlier. Better than expected but nothing truly stand out. Adequate. Highlights: walk this way. Toys in the attic. You see me crying.

Got swagger, sure. I like the blues element. that "suck my 10 inch record" or whavever offended me in a fun way.

Taking care of the obvious: "Walk This Way" has an all-time rock-and-roll hook (besides being maybe the first contemporary song one ever loved – sixth grade-ish) and "Sweet Emotion" one of the all-time vibes, plus a first-rate hook. And Steven Tyler was something like a Platonic ideal of the second-tier rock-god vocalist (behind Plant and Mercury in terms of sheer pipes; and not as idiosyncratically original as Jagger or as cool/poised as Morrison). The rest of this record is just dripping with mediocrity (which is never more apparent than when they go for the big, syrupy finish with the strings on the closer, which simply does not work. And oh, look, a song about having a big d*ck – how clever, how witty. While this is fine on its own terms, their later high crimes against music – not just rock and roll – simply cannot be forgiven.

Nice bunch of songs. Can’t beat a bit of 70s blues rock. Love the guitar tones.

Only knowing the big two singles off this one, I wasn't sure what to expect and despite loving the singles was worried I'd hate it. Far from hating it though, it's a very solid rock n' roll album. Solid semi-sleaze. "Walk This Way" is, was and always will be an absolute BEAST. And it only got better when they remade it with Run-DMC!

7,5/10

Sweet Emotion is an amazing song, but Aerosmith generally comes across very juvenile to me. In a bad way. I thought this might be the one album of theirs that I could enjoy throughout. Aside from Sweet Emotion though, this album didn't offer much to me. Walk This Way is better with RunDMC.

meh, just another aerosmith album

Hey, have you ever wanted to hear a man with a giant mouth shout into a tin can? Well I've got good news for you!. Steve Tyler is so far back in the mix he's in the fucking car lot out the back of the studio grinding the air next to the homeless man that has soiled himself, but that's just the version I listened to. Might give it a listen again on a better format to see, Liked about half the album, but the others weren't bad just didn't grab me. Favourite tracks Walk this way, Big Ten Inch Record and Sweet Emotion.

Totally had no idea sweet emotion was on this

The lyrics to Walk this Way didn't age well, but classic hard rock. Hard to beat Sweet Emotion.

Good album. Liked many of the songs

Nice, very easy to listen to and some catchy bits

Not as much of an old school rock and roll fan as I thought

- Big Ten Inch Record is surprisingly a bop - I expected to like the album more, but You See Me Crying was a strong finish

Some classic Aerosmith on this one, but just good ole rock

This an alright rock album that has some pretty big hits on it.

Prefs: Toys in the Attic, Walk This Way, You See Me Crying Moins pref: Sweet Emotion

Veilig

Not bad -- a few highlights, less "campy" than I usually think of Aerosmith. I guess that's true of a lot of these bands that got huge, they only became overexposed or whatever you want to call it because they were good before

Not an excellent record but still fun - it’s got the original pre RUN-DMC ‘Walk this way’ and ‘Sweet Emotion’, which are bangers but the rest is quite forgettable albeit agreeable.

Decent, some iconic songs on it. I've always like Aerosmith.

Not bad - a couple of cool songs but also not super exciting. Probably a different story if I had heard this in 1975 when it was released but rating it now I can't give it more than 3.5 stars.

The popular songs are good, but the songs surrounding don't have much replay value.

Streit bluesrock

Generic 70s feel good pop rock.

Pleasant surprise. I only know them from their hits - this album is definitely more old school and bluesy than expected.

I’ll hold my hands up here, I hate Aerosmith, they’re lame as fuck. But this album is pretty good. This is a far cry from the extremely safe, bland, anaemic square-dancing bollock rock they would go on to make, and even further from the cartoon rock band they would become by the end of the century. This album is far more interesting than anything I’d heard by Aerosmith previously. The combination of Joe Perry and Steven Tyler works to perfection at points on this record. Perry’s guitar work in particular is quite underrated on this showing. Tyler’s voice is a complete one-off but here he uses it to serve the song rather than prance about like a wannabe rockstar. He has a timbre very similar to Paul Westerberg in fact, and that’s not a throwaway comparison. Because while Aerosmith would lean in to bluesy, root-beer chuggin’ rock and/or roll, a lot of this album is straight up power pop - and I rate it. “You See Me Crying” draws the album to a painful halt. But “Uncle Salty” and “No More No More” are fantastic songs. I have a lot more respect for this band than I did this time yesterday. Fair play.

It definitely has some classics but the rest of the songs didn't really click with me Favorites: Toys in the Attic, Walk This Way

3,5/5 Best song: Walk this way Konnte ich mir nicht den ganzen Tag anhören etwas anstrengend

Nice...

Middle of this album fucks so hard.

I'm starting to think that the only reason Aerosmith is still well-known is because of nostalgia. The lyrics are a teen boy's idea of "cool". The songs are not too interesting musically, but they are in the popular style for the time, which is enough to attract an audience of high schoolers trying to follow along with the trends.

I can understand this is a legendary album. I just don't have much desire rn to return to it.

solid rock

Ok niks bijzonders geen persoonlijke verbinding met de nummers

Solid classic rock. One of the best from Aerosmith

Fairly enjoyable for someone who was not a big-hair-rock fan.

I have definitely heard stronger albums and songs by aerosmith, but this album is still pretty solid

An enjoyable record

Nothing too special. Good rock and roll, but nothing that compels me personally.

Good Rock and Roll.

First Aerosmith album, not bad

This a solid rock record. Groundbreaking? Pushing rock in any new directions? Not really. But a lot of fun anyway.

I enjoyed it, almost a 4. There are some classic tracks on here, but its not as consistent as some other Aerosmith I enjoyed more

was pleasantly surprised with this one….couple of them were stupid but that was expected tbh. wish i could give half stars :/

08/18/2022 I have been wanting to listen to this album since high school, but I never have until this app gave me an excuse to. Overall, the album is honestly super generic, there is nothing special about it to me. Not horrible, but definitely not great. Sweet Emotion really carries this whole album on its back bc without it, the whole album would probably suck. In other news, today was good. I met my student mentor today named Paul. We talked for a few hours and had a great conversation with lots of good insight and information about what to expect during this journey. After that I walked home and waited a few hours until heading back to campus for advising. I've got my schedule mostly figured out, now I just have to wait to start classes in 4 days :O

3.4⭐️

Yea not bad I guess

It's here because it has two of the most ubiquitous, quintessential songs in the entire rock cannon. Interesting how Sweet Emotion has become more of a legacy song for the band (I credit it's appearance at the beginning of Richard Linklater's Dazed and Confused), but Walk This Way still slaps. Everything else begs to be skipped. The Toxic Twins were just Glimmer Twin wannabes.

Such a hit and miss band. When they're good (and they can be) they sound like themselves. When they're not, they sound like very bad Led Zeppelin or bad Rolling Stones. It's always amazing to listen to ST's vocals on 'Dream On' (as later covered by The Mission!) and then listen to how coke-ravaged his voice is by the time they did this album a couple of years later. This is such a mixed bag. I think they found their true place in the '80s with 'Permanent Vacation' and 'Pump' (with a few bangers on '93's 'Get a Grip'), with MTV playing a large part.

Heard before: yes I feel the same way about Aerosmith as I do the Rolling Stones. There’s some kind of mass hysteria by which everyone convinces themselves and each other that the bands are great, but they’re actually good. This is probably one of Aerosmith’s better albums. There’s some nice guitar work and drumming on here. There’s a couple of missteps- not a big fan of the novelty Big Ten Inch track. It’s neither good nor funny. Favourite tracks: Sweet Emotion Worst tracks: Big Ten Inch

Rocks is better

Some good songs but overall as an album it didn't really do it for me. Didn't bother me either but won't listen to it again.

I definitely see why people like this. It's not really my thing, but overall I found it decently enjoyable. Drops off in quality after Sweet Emotion, and I downright disliked You See Me Crying.

oof good one ! de klassiekers springen er uit.

The super hits like Sweet Emotion and Walk this Way are really great songs. There's a reason they're super hits. And Round and Round spoke to me. But the rest was just kind of ok. Not super impressive. This might be the first time I've listened to an Aerosmith album from start to finish.

couple classics

Good album in the dawn of Aerosmith career. I like its rock style, in the rise of hard rock, there combined energy with certain balance.

If you were to make a movie set in the 70's about a mid-western stripper and her dysfunctional guitar playing, whiskey drinking boyfriend looking to strike it big as a pro darts player, while being on the run from her trucker stepfather, and also dodging the law along the way, breaking up, getting back together, finally riding off into the sunset together, this might be the soundtrack for you.

This was okay, pretty enjoyable but not something I'd listen to again. At times I considered going up to 3.5, but it was too cheesy overall to get there.

Toys in the Attack has two massive songs (one made better by the RunDMC mix) and a bunch of other stuff that was fine, though casual Aerosmith fans wouldn't realise it was them I think, such was the style. 3/5.

Listened to this not long after the generator first gave it to us. Clearly didn't generate a huge amount of energy in me! That said, listening to it again now, it's decent - not outstanding, but fits together nicely, doesn't outstay its welcome, and Walk This Way / Sweet Emotion elevate it a level. 3/5.

The best American rock album

one of their best with pump

Nice classic rock album. Not my favorite, but "Walk this way" is banger.

If I have to listen to an Aerosmith album this is the only one I really would be ok with.

Not as annoying as I thought it would be, some good songs I've never heard before

I mean, sounds influential af, and The rock n roller coaster is still a thing lol but the album drags and feels longer than 37 minutes

Okay, not bad, just not a huge Aerosmith fan.

Probably ahead of its time, but there's only, like, two tracks on here I actually liked. Overall pretty meh, as I'm fairly certain I can't remember anything much about it beyond the two I tapped my foot to.

Eigenlijk niet zo heel boeiend, en beetje saai. Maar een extra ster voor Sweet Emotion, dat is echt een top track!

Het kabbelde voorbij zonder dat ik het doorhad. Maar; best ok.

Aerosmith was the first band that I ever fell (briefly) in love with, so it's weird to reflect on their early career now that I've decidedly lost interest in the band that I was so infatuated with in the early-mid 90s. This is much more straightforward blues rock than I would have anticipated. Very much of its time and not showing many of the elements that would define their style in the 80s and 90s. Walk This Way is a notable exception, which is appropriate since that sound would kick start their success in the 80s. Sweet Emotion is another highlight of the album that sounds more like 80s Aerosmith. The rest of the album sucks ass and you can quote me on that (my name is Bill Gates) 3/5 and the two good songs on this album are pulling a lot of weight

Single entendre, double entendre, triple entendre. Something for everyone.

unaexpectedly aewsome

Some awesome guitar riffery, walk this way the star of the show. No filler, was close to a 4 star.

Año 1975 y ya están aquí "Walk this way" y "Sweet emotion". No hay más preguntas señorías.

The blueprint for Aerosmith's career is set here. Sleazy rock mixed with overblown pomp with a dash of FM blues. Not bad at all. Best Tracks: Walk This Way; Sweet Emotion; You See Me Crying

I went into this one only knowing their two big hits (which are insanely BIG hits… like who doesn’t know “Walk this way”, and have you ever seen a rock n roll playlist without “Sweet emotion” on it?!) The rest of the album is pretty great, too, particularly the guitar licks. Solid rock.

Aersomith have some bangers. But they're littered between mediocre tracks.

Hey ! I got this CD at home. It's nice somehow, probably one of Aerosmith's best albums. It's got the original version of "Rock This Way" in it. The thing is, should Aerosmith be included in a list of 1001 essential albums to listen to? No. And this here is why I won't say anything further about this record. Please, Dimery and associates, check your priorities a little. You need room for genuinely great or moving or grounsbreaking albums. You can't waste it like this. Number of albums left to review or listen to : more than 900, I've temporarily lost count here. Number of essential listens: more than a third so far. Number of albums I *might* include as essential listens: a quarter so far. Number of albums I *won't* consider as essential listen: more than a third so far (including this one)

Yeah, cool. I didn't think I was that into Aerosmith, but I can definitely appreciate 😁

In terms of Aerosmith albums, this is a strong candidate for their best. Least filler and fairly consistent. But that doesn't mean any of the songs are anything to write home about. "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion" are well-deserved hits, and I'm glad they were re-popularized by Run-DMC, they're catchy and loud. The other tracks are mostly decent... it's polished and coordinated, but dull and uneventful. Their influences are very obvious. It's pretty safe blues rock mixed in with glam rock. They have hooks and riffs that stick out to any listener in all their songs. It's very much popular and riding on the wave of success of their predecessors. It's no surprise that their comeback in the late 80s was modeled on the very same concepts.

Better rock out there but sweet emotion is a damn good song

ekki vonlaust

Better than I expected

one big fat song and a bunch of alright but less imposing rock

aye, it's not bad. sweet emotion is a good song like. also, shorttttttt. so many of these albums are way too long, thank you aerosmith for knowing when to shut up.

Some classics but also some meh songs

Back in the 70s the boys loved this album because Boston's Aerosmith brought The Rolling Stones sound to an American band. The girls loved this album because of Steven Tyler and his big ten-inch… record. Great rocking album with instant classics Sweet Emotion and Walk This Way. 3.75/5.

Walk this way Sweet emotion Pas l'album du siècle mais bon, deux chansons marquantes

I like Aerosmith well enough so was happy to see this was today's album. When it got going though I found I wasn't enjoying it too much. Very jangly guitars, the first 3 songs were all just not doing it for me. Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion are obviously great songs and was nice to have them in the list, 10 Inch Record is a weird ragtime tune with not at all subtle innuendo. I did like No More No More, and Round and Round. Very up and down album, just couldn't grab me but had some solid moments in there.

Only giving a three for Walk This Way and Sweet Emotions. Rest of the album is ho-hum.

It's only as good as its weakest link. I could've listened to this a couple times more but then I heard ST talking about his "big" 10-inch... I'm no penis expert but I think Long Dong Silver and John Holmes were bigger than ten inches. I had enjoyed it up to that point, but if I'm going to listen to a dick song, it'd be this stellar piece of art: https://youtu.be/bbJDjNLzv8U Thankfully, Sweet Emotion followed that which has got to be one of the best tracks in classic rock. All in all, I liked most of this album, but had to deduct a star for the cockiness.

"Toys in the Attic" is very much carried by "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion." I am so used to the Run DMC version that the original "Walk This Way" sounds a little weird, but "Sweet Emotion" is a six-star absolute classic. However, these two hits are not enough to carry the album to a more re-listenable level. "Big Ten Inch Record" is funny, in a "should I be bothered by this" kind of way, but the one pleasant standout was "Round and Round," with a grunge metal edge that could have been a Soundgarden inspiration... it was bizarre to follow that up with the Elton John-ish lead-in of "You See Me Crying." (Well... it turns out "Big Ten Inch Record" is a cover of a Bull Moose Jackson song from 1952. Jackson's other songs include "I Want a Bowlegged Woman." I am now half-way between appreciating it more for its full context and appreciating it less for another case of white rockers appropriating a black musicians song.)

So this album has two of the best rock songs ever written (Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion, as if there any doubt) and then some other songs. With the exception of 10 Inch Record, none of them are terrible - even the aforementioned is an amusing music hall pastiche. But the rest is just holding for the best bits.

I like to tease and roll my eyes at Aerosmith because I think the band and a lot of their hits have been overplayed and overrated, but damn the hard blues rock groove to open the album was killer! Truly unfortunate they let that energy die with Uncle Salty right after. I am still sick of Walk This Way, but it's groove is undeniable. || The lyrics are wildly, unabashedly horny throughout (esp big 10 inch record lol) which tracks with the era but is also more unsettling now considering some of Stephen Tyler's more salacious and predatory history (look up Julia Holcomb). || A few real good stand out songs and riffs make up for some filler. 3.5. I would round up to 4, but I already rated another Aerosmith album (Pump) a 5, and I don't think this album adds anything to the list that Pump doesn't.

This album is mostly forgettable, besides a few standout tracks. Overall mid, 5/10.

Was different but wasn't the biggest fan of it tbh.

S’alright. Bit more bluesy than I expected but, it’s Aerosmith, init? Like eating at McDonald’s, might not be amazing…but you know what you’re getting.

Probably Aerosmith’s best album yet still not an album that I thoroughly enjoy. Walk this way and sweet emotion are some of their best songs. Steven Tyler still finds a way to do some annoying things in this one. The sound was pretty good thought out but still just a over average to me. 6.8/10

If you are into the melding point between Southern and classic rock, here it is. Walk This Way is too big to be ignored. The boogie is real on Big Ten Inch Record. Sweet Emotion is the other pillar of this album. It's just not something I'm interested in. The singles keep this from being a 2 star.

3/5, fun listen but probably not going back to it

Didn't really enjoy this album, a bit dull

Rien de particulier à signaler au sujet de cet album.

Ganz nice, Mischung aus altem Rock und eher Richtung Rock'n'Roll. Würde ich natürlich so nicht hören, aber trotzdem ne stabile Platte denke ich.

average album. I don't like aerosmith at all. This was a nice surprise, though.

I've always hated the riff in sweet emotion with the weird backwards bit in it... also listening to this after Led Zeppelin iV, it just doesn't compare on any level....Walk this way basically saves this one

Blimey, Aerosmith have been going for ages. This wasn’t half bad actually, entertaining and more varied than I expected. 3.whatever.

Solid rock album, some good hits. Favorite Track: Sweet Emotion Relisten: No

// Favs: – Score: Decent 3

a solid mid 70s classic rock album - doesn't swing as much as I had remembered it as doing.

very much what you expect. doesn't over stay its welcome

Good, very 70s rock, easy to listen to

28th October 2021 Listened on the living room speaker while me and jen worked at the table. Went to M&S in the evening. Massive. Enjoyed bits of this but didn't give it my full attention.

Más allá de las obvias (Walk This Way y Sweet Emotion) me gustan mucho Toys In The Attic y Big Ten Inch Record.

This is how Blues Rock should sound: hyperactive riffs and smoked-out vocals trading blows; guitar licks lapping up your thighs like the sea before you pluck up the courage to dunk your rude bits; lyrics lamenting loves lost. It's just a bit of a shame that Blues Rock isn't really my thing, or I'd be all over it.

some enjoyable tunes, some dull ones

Lots of different styles here.

Good bluesy classic rock

I'm not a big fan of Aerosmith. There were better bands doing what they were doing and they've just never resonated with me. This album does not change my opinion. There are catchy riffs, some good hits, and decent vocal delivery, but even though this album is less than 40 minutes, it gets boring by the end.

Decent album by a decent artist. Heard most of the songs before, maybe a few of the too many times which put a damper on things...

Not bad. Never been super into Aerosmith, but never hated them before. The title track from this record is one of my favorites. Solid rock record. Call it a 3.5. Favorite tracks: "Round and Round", "Toys in the Attic"

Itselle useita uusia tuttavuuksia tällä levyllä. Tykkäsin menosta ja soundista.

Some decent 70s rock but other than Walk this Way and Sweet emotions, nothing stood out for me.

A few good songs. Sweet Emotion the highlight for me.

3/5, nothing impressive

There are a few tracks like Round and around that are much better than others. I could have seen me given this a third star, but in the end, oh hell, who am I kidding? This is a three star.

Honestly I was not that impressed with this album for as much as Aerosmith is revered. I like the breakout songs on here, but beyond that I wasn’t really entertained.

What stands out most for me is the bands potential and out of this world ability. It doesn't all quite hang together, but it's a hint of incredible tracks to come. Walk this way, never tires and Big Tench Inch Record for a change of style caught my attention.

Some decent tracks, but overall lacking anything special.

I actually enjoyed it. The heavy rock sound was enjoyable.

Not a fan of Aerosmith, but it was ok.

Weak ending, strong middle of the album, a few well known classics (walk this way, sweet emotion)

Good album and some good tracks

Nothing really stands out apart from Walk This Way. Enjoyed No More No More, but that was about it, rest seemed average

ok boomer

I thought this album was pretty average, but not bad. I liked most of the songs but there were a few I didn't like. 3/5 stars.

A mediocre classic rock album with two above average songs. 7.2/10

It was fine - typical Aerosmith - Walk this way and Sweet Emotion highlight it

A couple good songs with some long gaps between, for me

Adam's Apple y Walk this way son muy buenas. El resto del disco está bien, es divertido y se puede escuchar del tirón con facilidad.

It has Sweet Emotions. That makes up for the fact that it is a middling at best rock album otherwise. Round and Round is a solid deep cut

Done listening. 3/5

No es de mis álbumes favoritos de Aerosmith, encuentro rara la voz de Steven, tal vez porque son canciones del 75 y su voz es diferente actualmente

I'm not really an Aerosmith fan, probably because I grew up with the stuff they made in the 90s. This album changed my mind a bit though. I'm well versed in the singles released from this album, but the other songs were a treat to listen to. Overall a win.

Didn't love it but there's some great songs and riffs on here.

Solid guitar riffs throughout, Steve Tyler's voice rings in its full glory. Strong as far as blues-based 70s hard rock goes. "Sweet Emotions" is still a banger. Some good deeper cuts in this one - all around a good groove from start to finish.

Fun album, high energy, not entirely my cup of tea

Without a doubt, one of the albums of 1975.

A fine rock album.

I think the last time I listened to this entire thing was 1978, when I was in middle school. To me, "Sweet Emotion" is the only memorable track. Meh.

not so memorable

its alright

Rock N Roll chops! 2 rock masterpieces with Walk this Way and Sweet Emotion. The rest of the album is pedestrian bar band blues. Steven Tyler has a great rock n roll voice. The final track of the album seemed to be a blueprint for their ballad hits they went on to have 30 years later.

Sweet Emotion is still a classic banger, that intro and bass especially

Some of Aerosmith's best work. Highlights: Toys in the Attic Walk This Way Sweet Emotion Round and Round

I think i am marking this down because I expected more. 3-4 really good songs and the rest are standard rock songs.

Meh. Sweet emotion was cool, rest was pretty lukewarm

Pretty good rock album not really anything special though.

listening to these albums in the afternoon is so hard WHY. walk this way riff tho.

Meh, not a big fan, ok but boring

'Walk this way' and 'Sweet Emotion' are well known songs of Aerosmith to me. It was nice to have listend to the album.

Walk this way!

Not much of an Aerosmith fan. Round and Round is a good track. Never liked the title track. Trying to listen closer to see if it’s just me. Sweet Emotion is a classic.

Better than expected.

I'd never heard the full album before, and the popular tracks definitely carry it. Still, Aerosmith is closer to my wheelhouse than most other music of this era, and this one is definitely better than whatever nonsense that yesterday's 2-star offering earned. 3 stars.

Ikke de helt rigtige Aerosmith, men ok med et par gode numre på

Solid rock album with a lot of notable tracks. S/o Guitar Hero Aerosmith

yall stopppppppp

apart from 'sweet emotion' and maybe 'walk this way', this was such a bland and boring record

just not my thing, it seems like they took everything i dont like about the stones and brought it to america to make a band around it feel like my criticism of this type of music always ends up being redundant, so yeah; uninspired, superficial, underdeveloped and completely removed from the fundamental spirit of the blues

album #117 i grew up listening to aerosmith with my mama, but never really knew much about steve tyler's background save for liv tyler (i had a huge crush on her). anyways, i found out that steve tyler is a retched pedophile. the run DMC, and girls aloud versions of walk this way are superior, anyhow. even if you separate the art from the artist (which you can't), this is not a great album and doesn't deserve it's placing. ꩜ favourite track(s): walk this way ꩜ least favourite track(s): toys in the attic, uncle salty ꩜ album rating: ★☆☆☆☆ ꩜ number of albums left to review: 972 ꩜ number of albums from the list that i agree with being on the list: 53 ꩜ albums from the list that I would consider on my list: 24 ꩜ albums from the list I won't include on my list: 93

Giving it 2 stars, one for Sweet Emotion and one for Walk This Way.

I feel like Aerosmith was everywhere in my youth, albums, movies, videogames, but you hardly hear about them or think about them now. Oh yeah, problematic. Walk this Way definitely had a cultural impact, but most of the songs just sound generic. They are good at what they do, but Chuck Berry, The Stones and Lead Zeppelin do it better. I'll give them Sweet Emotion, it works. Steven Tyler's voice isn't for me.

For me the album hasn’t aged well.

I’m not in the mood for this Steve.

Yet another rock band. Same old same old. Walk This Way is its saving grace, hence the score...

Not their best

God this is so BLAND

Never listened to a full Aerosmith album before. This was ok. They were always an inferior kind of band musically for me. They didn’t have the songs that Kiss did, and overall they have been underwhelming. This was good enough, but wouldn’t listen again or investigate further.

Meh. 2.5

Boomer guitar rock a bit too leopard for me but it has its highlights and lowlights but the songs that are iconic are iconic for a reason. The deep cuts sometimes just were far fetched still. Let me be specific. I don’t really enjoy sweet emotion I don’t think it adds anything exciting we haven’t already heard so when round and round comes on it’s like why are they doing a sabbath impression and then a solo at the end it’s just uninteresting it’s wait your turn music instead of truly meshing. When they do hit that high they don’t hold it not confident enough it seems. Just mediocre not ground breaking stuff

More cock rock hair metal nonsense. It's indistinguishable from guns and roses and Bon Jovi so I suppose it's worth 2

Pretty boring, also fuck you Stephen

after only giving this one a single slightly interrupted listen today, I'm just not getting it. It sounds ok, with a couple of very decent singles. I can understand this being popular at that point in time, but it's a bit basic by today's standards. I did a little reading to see if it's something I'm not appreciating, and apparently this is the more thought-out side of Aerosmith, where things really started gelling, and where we notice the quality of the pen and the vocals, how important they are to the music. Now, when I think about that, I do see some well written songs here, but there's an even more iconic soundtrack single that really sums those talents up entirely on its own. After a more careful listen with the lyrics and vocals, I'm unimpressed. The poetry has a stylistic ceiling, the quality of the message isn't generally that deep. They're just impressed with themselves for doing it in a professional setting, and the talent it takes to pull a couple of really good singles carries the weight of the rest of the effort. 2.4/5

*Triump voice* Steven Tyler seems like a good hang...from a GIBBET

back to back aerosmith. it's like you want us to off ourselves. some good ol' southern rock. meaning pedophiles are involved in some way (obvi). all i'm saying is that when i say "fuck indie sleaze" I'M the bad guy????? 2.3-3.1. "big ten inch record" is an affront to humanity. i liked the songs i'd already heard though (+ opener/closer).

Pretty fun

Never been into Aerosmith. They have some hits that are fine, sometimes good (I always liked the live version of “Dream On”) but this album just wasn’t doing it for me. I don’t think time has been as kind to this particular band as others

Extra star for Sweet Emotion, otherwise it’s very very dull.

4 / 10

Sweet Emotion is good, not much else here is though, Walk This Way is fine I guess, it wound up annoying me the longer it went, much like most of the album. I dunno, you can call it timeless rock but holy moly has it aged poorly, much like Steven Tyler himself. Plus, you know, being a garbage person certainly doesnt help. Glad to be past this one.

Boomer mid

This was fine I guess Playlist add: "Sweet Emotion" obviously

sin máis

Sweet Emotion and Walk this Way are bangers. There's a reason they are on so many soundtracks and still get regular radio play. The album tracks on this album are bland, boring, and weird. Aerosmith is one of those bands where the Greatest Hits album can be a good time, but the albums are a hard pass.

Best Song: Walk This Way. It's the best song on the album, but it's not even that great of a song. The riffing is iconic, and fast-talking sections are decent, but once again Steven Tyler has to punctuate with these garbage adlibs. "Just gimme a kiss". Goddamnit Steven, can you please focus on the song for Christ's sake. Worst Song: Big Ten Inch Record. Who on earth wants to listen to Steven "Sex Pest" Tyler make the most juvenile "haha, big penis" euphemisms over a basic blue rock backing? There's absolutely nothing creative, interesting, or funny here. How did anyone ever think this was cool? Overall: I just don't want to listen to Steven Tyler sing about sex, especially with how frequently his lyrics emphasize the (young) age of women. In my opinion, Aerosmith is a wholly mediocre band, elevated by a few hits, and bolstered by some perception that Steven Tyler can really powerfully sing. He can't, he just wails, but at least that wailing is better than when he tries to ape the blues.

This is passable but, seriously Robert, get a grip. No, really. 'Get a Grip' really should be on your list, mate. It's more relevant and accessible.

Beside the couples of songs that I knew the rest was a dud. Those other songs are solid enough to get this out of One category

It's alright but not my genre

I have never heard any of these songs beyond Walk This Way, so firmly in the one-hit wonder bin. Otherwise just a bunch of super-70s weak white rock and roll without any hooks or riffs at all. A song called Round and Round could easily have been a foot-tapping, head-banging monster in the hands of other musicians, this sounds like a diluted Who. Two stars, not even boring enough to offend.

Broadly middle-of-the-road rock music, with the occasional highlight on the guitar. Don't particularly enjoy Aerosmith's vocals and from some brief research the singer is a disgusting human 4/10

not good

tedious

Maybe two good songs here

1 of 2 goede nummers en de rest fillers... compleet overbodig in mijn verzameling

Why did the week have to end with this album? "Toys in the Attic" is a bit better than the other two Aerosmith albums I reviewed. That's not to say I liked it. I learned that "Walk This Way" originated from "Toys in the Attic". The chorus of that version of "Walk This Way" is better than the version with Run-DMC. 2 stars for "Toys in the Attic".
