Reviews (page 10 of 12)
After the first half of the album I was ready to give up, but the second half had some ear catching songs
Aika perus alternative rockia, meni hyvin taustalla. Parhaat: Caught By the Fuzz, Sofa Of My Lethargy
Nix besonderes
3.5 for me, why no half stars
3+
Compared to some of the British albums we have been handed in the past couple of weeks, this one was more tolerable. A couple of the stripped down songs(Time) were better than the others that were loud & messy. 2.6
Some good indie but not standout in my mind. She’s so loose is great
After three listens the album opened up and some songs, e.g. She so loose, Time or Sofa of My Lethargy (best song) do alternative rock all honor. Alright, is a well-made pop song.
Not bad
2.6
one hit wonder
Alright and Sitting Up Straight are the only tracks that really caught my attention, the rest is just okay. I couldn't connect with the lyrics or the vocals.
Debut album from a band that kind of hovers in the power pop/pop punk area, but has an interesting mix of sounds between songs. I'm hearing influences like Smithereens, Kinks, and Elvis Costello. Favorites: Caught By The Fuzz, Sofa Of My Lethargy, and Alright.
wotcha
Pretty fun listen with songs ranging from decent to pretty good. I'd never be bothered by someone putting this on.
Fine, but nothing of note. Seems to be a justified one hit wonder.
After a second listen through, I’d give this one a 3.5. Pretty cool
fun
They sound like the other British New age punk outfits, but not as innovative or memorable.
Okay! Probably won't revisit anytime soon but the boys sounded like they were having fun.
Usually a teenage release is a nasty mess, but this one has some real spunk. 'Alright' on its own makes this worth a listen, an unbridled blast of underage hubris and swaggering world at your feet energy, pure joyous optimism. They won't let you make em like that now of days. The rest of the album is less distinctive, drawing on the familiar pallette of British 90s guitar pop, but they do it as well as just about anyone: bright and crunchy guitars, propulsive bass, hyperactive drums and exuberant vocals. The Arctic Monkeys really stole these fellas' bag and ran with it, huh
Brit pop that goes a bit punk at times. Big songs from the 90’s, an enjoyable listen
Was ho-humming this album as another quirky alt British rock joint but then Caught By The Fuzz played and I remembered the Oasis album from a few days ago, which was made around the same time. I would’ve killed for Oasis to make anything this explosive and raw. This album seems like a precursor to the blog rock and tumblr rock sound that lasted for a good 20 years after. Solid stuff I may give this a relisten
Herausragend "Sofa of the Lethargy" und "Time to go"
3.5
Listened twice. Didn’t hate it but couldn’t really find anything exciting about it
If Green Day were from the UK
Enjoyed this
Alright - das Album ist ok.
Unique, interesting.
I like the song Alright. Otherwise it was fine.
A pretty good album. Starts off really hot and only has a couple breaks, but they are all alright. I wouldn't personally call this something too special but it has got some great songs on it
3.3/5 Best Track: Alright
It was ALRIGHT
Similar style of songs, all songs I think are British punk/pop mix similar to the clash another punk band, although they are a recent band, their music sounds like it was written 30 years ago which I think is a good thing. The only criticism I have with this album is they all sound pretty similar or almost the same, with the same tempo. Another small thing is I’m not a fan of this type of music but some of the songs give me memories from when I was younger which adds a lot of kudos. The most popular song on the album Alright, is undoubtedly the best in my opinion, mainly from the childhood nostalgia and the upbeat melody. Another thing I like about this album is the versatility between songs, for example some songs are upbeat and then on the contrast the others are more punk/rock sounding. Overall a big fan of the album
The opening track of this album, I'd like to know is a great song with good vocals and an interesting production. but the album rarely hits the heights that it hit on the first song. Much of the album is very guitar-heavy and extremely repetitive. There are some highs, such as the hit song Alright, but the album becomes slightly boring because of the repetitiousness. Overall, the album is a good listen, but few songs stick out. A good album, not a great one.
A lot different influences here. I have listened to some other super grass albums but never this one.
Not bad, bit punkier than I expected in places. I still don't really like them overall and I'm not sure why. Extra star for great album title.
Not doing very well at keeping up with my reviews. Perky was just what I needed on a rainy grey commute to work.
Fun vibes but I had never heard any of it.
Mid 90's Brit rock. I can see where these guys gave birth to the Arctic Monkeys, Radio 4, and the like. Not exactly my cup of tea, as it gets kinda noisy and samey by the end of the album. But it's a solid enough rocker. Unexpected banger: Sofa (Of My Lethargy)
cool.
Not bad. Not great
Better than I remembered. Very Kinksy feel to it.
Strong surfer rock vibes from "I'd like to know." Overall a fun, high energy album, but I'm not sure why it's on the list. Highlights: Alright (I loved this song!)
Upbeat listening. It's the kind of music I'd expect to hear at the pub.
Never heard of this before. I liked it. Good energy on most of the songs although I don't remember a whole lot anymore. Might need to give it a second listen. Will I listen to again: 50%
Early 90s Brit alt-rock/pop in a nutshell.
Better than expected.
Alright was fantastic, enjoyed the rest. Should be more well known
Pretty energetic, some good tracks
never heard this before, not really a fan of it.
Ok
Kann man hören, für mich sticht aber auch nichts heraus.
Meh.
Vermakelijk, en diverse nummers
Proto-punk Very typical
I'm pretty excited to see some britpop in here, but this one is One Gigantic Song and a bunch of okay songs.
Not bad
Nothing special. Very mid. 2.5/5
Nothing specific to say about this album;
I didn't know this album but enjoyed it to a point.
Never heard of these guys. Not bad but one song sounded like it was sung by Alvin and the Chipmunks.
It was ok.
Came in with very low expectations but ended up liking a song or two. Got some good 90s angst
Quite average, didn't wow me but still decent.
Liked it didn’t love it. I would’ve loved it 20 years ago. Dug Lose It marine the most. Some of the others were catchy too but, I don’t know, a little forced? Maybe they loosened up and cleaned up in later albums.
Enjoyed this one! Would give it a 3.5 in real life. Spoke to my 90s self. Bonus points because it has an iconic song from Clueless on it, so that was a pleasant surprise.
Prima, lekker beetje punky, maar te niksig voor mij :P 6/10
Energetic and fun album.
(Approx. 40 mins) Bops, punk and indie mashes with great instrumentals and a distinct sound and vocals. (6/10) Had no clue "Alright" was this band, good to know!
This has some bangers. Pretty fun, I guess I could come back to it... But Alright is definitely the stand-out here. Feels like a solid 3.5. Maybe room to grow, time will tell.
Alright
Very fun album. Not really my cup of tea though
Un album de pop punk sympathique et entraînant, mais pas forcément le genre de choses que j'écouterais plus que ça, la voix principale n'étant pas à mon goût.
Ganske bra!
Beatles Buzzcocks world Party maybe some Neil Young. Very nice but A couple of duds.
Solid britpop album. Not my favorite genre but stills seems pretty ok.
It's a fine indie rock album. Most of it didn't click with me as the melodies, vocals, riffs nothing stood out that much. It all passes for a decent middle ground indie rock and that's it. I'd like to know starts things with a lot of energy but it meanders a bit in the end. Caught by the fuzz is great, I like the distortion, the chorus is catchy. Alright, the big single, is good too but apart from a really catchy melody I didn't really find it to be that amazing as well. I found the mellower cuts in the second half of the album more engaging. She's so loose is great, the strings really add a lot to the track. Not supposed to is great, very catchy, and those scattered vocals in the background that keeping coming in and out are really fun as well. Time is decent as well. It stagnates a bit and doesn't progress after a well. The main guitar riff gets a bit monotonous as well. The harmonica embellishments doesn't really do much as well for me. Sofa is the longest track on the album and is it just me or the main melody is straight up similar to norwegian wood by the beatles? Despite that the song is great, but it does hamper the listening experience a bit because it constantly just reminds me of the beatles song. Time to go is great well. It's a strong 2 to a light 3 for me. The middle section post alright and before loose just does not do much for me.
Yet another british band. Not very memorable but had a few good songs. I think I already knew Alright. Stand-out: Strange Ones
Meh. Nothing music
I do like the songs "Alright" and "Time To Go" - nice melodies - the keys on Alright are a nice instrumental change-up and Time To Go is a great pace slowdown from the rest of the album but on the whole it is not in my wheelhouse
Vraiment pas de souvenir et c'est rédibitoire à partir de 1000 albums générés. Désolé les supergrass.
Decent 90s punk/alternative fun
I had not heard of this band and I don't recall ever hearing any of their music, so I'm glad I've been introduced to them. Very cool album and I like their style. Nice weaving of many influences, and it just sounds like they are truly enjoying playing their songs.
I wasn't feeling for the first couple songs. It's a throwback to 60's rock, some psychedelic and some garage. But towards the middle they get a little heavier and it hits it's stride. Best Songs: Alright, Lose it Listen Again: Yes
Some nice bits, upbeat feeling
Different sound - have never heard of these guys or this album before, but it's not bad at all.
Great debut album, but feels like it gets more props as a really great debut then it does as a really great album, it's uneven and the highs are high but the lows are so forgettable
Perfectly fine album. Closer to 3.5 stars. Alright is a great track
This is energetic and pretty good. Everything is well polished. Very radio friendly Britpop. Not sure it belongs on this list but I do love the energy from the band.
More Britpop!!! This album is more adventurous than I’ve noticed previously, but still mostly just okay. “Sitting Up Straight” was a standout track
Man I hear so many bands this album has probably influenced in here , I hear a bit of the mint chicks and lots of influence on modest mouse .
Sólo me gusta Sofa Of My Lethargy y Alright. Estilos distintos.
This was a fun album. Good.
Some strong tunes but sounds dated. Great for then, meh for now. 3.5/5
Solid alternative rock. Got the groove, got the random pitch squeals, got the chorus hooks. Like it.
Felt a bit scattered. Some good tunes but for a 40 minute album it dragged.
Alright is a banger. The rest of this album is average
Hauska kokonaisuus.
Iha ok
I’d Like To Know // Caught By The Fuzz // Alright // Sitting Up Straight //
Solider Brit-rock; Teilweise sehr wild; Random Chipmunks song
fun all the way through
I liked time to go, so +1 star from my 2 stars for the rest of it
sure why not
Pretty good. Not quite a 4
I enjoy the song Alright to some degree. Otherwise, and I don’t know if it’s the mood I’m in, but I find this album hard to listen to.
Ég hef aldrei fílað Supergrass neitt sérstaklega mikið. Hálft hús.
Fun album!
a couple great songs on there. overall kind of bland.
This album is much better than their next album, "In It for the Money". Love the energy of the opening song. Pleasantly surprised.
It was fine, but not something I'd seek out. Didn't really catch my attention.
fine. 3 stars
So this is the album where the legendary “Alright” comes from! I had a lively time listening but it was a bit too theatrical for my tastes.
Better than the 300 other British alt bands I’ve been forced to listen to that aren’t the Cure or The Smiths
Pretty average. 1 hit track.
Firstly, I have to disclose that I really dislike Oasis and I’m not a fan of britpop in general. This is a lot better than Oasis! Fun and melodic - I would listen to this anytime - but I lost interest in the second half and I didn’t really relate to the songs. Fave Track: Mansize Rooster Rating: 3
So far Supergrass didn't really impress me but I do like this album as a nice, direct approach.
Not bad, but not necessarily good either. Songs are fine, but nothing special. 3/5 Probably won't listen again
britti poppiahan tämä... kitaran rämpytys chilling wibing loppuosa... villi alkuosa..
Another album where the one famous song isn't best
Pretty bland stuff. Never felt very inspired. Chock it up to the author's love of mediocre 90s Britpop.
Favorite tracks were I'd Like To Know and Lenny
I enjoyed it but wouldn't really play it again. High 3s
I enjoyed listening to this album! The instrumentals are fantastic and kept me on my toes throughout. It gives the listener a breather from the high energy when needed, but still delivers through to the end. This isn’t the genre for me, but I would wholeheartedly recommend it to people who do like it. Standout tracks: Actually all were great, especially from the middle onwards. Would I revisit this album: Probably not.
Liked this much more than I thought, the only song i'd heard from them was actually my least favourite on the album. No fuss just good fun tunes
Some good songs and some ok ones. Solid 3.
7/10
3.5 / 5
It was good. Sounded very mainstream 90s pop.
So far so good. Alright was just that.... alright - but not that good - surprisingly popular. More of a Lenny fan. This may be disputed but I get a "Beatles but in the 90s vibe from these guys"
Did not like it with the first couple of songs, sounded like boring punk. The album got much better by the end with more rocky sounding songs.
Fun rock, solid throughout, nothing special.
Mid 90s grunge pop cross ranging from sound garden, to oasis, to hole
When I’m initially unfamiliar with a song with over 300 million Spotify streams (especially anything tangential to 90s rock), I’d like to say I usually recognize it once I put it on. I can pretty confidently say I’ve never heard “Alright” though. It’s presumably the reason this album is on the list, but for a one “hit” wonder, I’m a little disappointed in Supergrass. At best they sound like a generative AI’s response to the prompt “Write an album like you’re a group of uninspired horny London high schoolers hanging out in their mums’ garages, bruv. Oh, and make sure you somehow incorporate vocals from the Minions!” They are by no means bad, but nothing stands out about this band or this album other than their aggressively British accents.
Fast paced British rock. Not a fan of the vocals - a bit tiring to listen to. Rally like the guitar shredding on the songs Lenny, Strange Ones, She’s So Loose and Time. Includes famous hit Alright.
Good, felt like some surf rock at points but a generally good 90s alt album
Never liked Supergrass. Never liked their childish, playful mood. Damn them! Hate Alright. Coming off the back of the Britpop wave, rock music was always going to take a turn. Plenty of well written songs, and really, a style that at the time, was probably quite unique. Picked up by 00's indie bands worldwide. SOT: I'd Like to Know Caught By The Fuzz Alright 3/5
This is a pretty decent album and maybe ahead of their time as this sounds like something that could’ve came from the 2000s alternative rock scene. Alright is a solid song that has been played in commercials. I enjoyed it and some of the other songs were still pretty good too. Other songs didn’t mesh too well and it went back and forth between indie rock and softer punk rock. Overall it was decent and there are songs worth revisiting. 6.2/10
Sólo me gusta Sofa Of My Lethargy y Alright. Estilos distintos.
3.3 - The best thing I can say about these guys is at least they didn’t follow almost every other British rock outfit of this era and attempt to replicate “The Bends.” Instead they drew inspiration from arena rock bands of the 70s like Foghat and mixed in rollicking punk energy à la The Clash. Theirs is a durable sound but I find the songwriting lacking. Nothing here warrants a second listen - not even “Time”, one of the better tracks.
Not normally being too much into really british punk/rock, that was a surprisingly refreshing listen. The tracks are overall good and fun, really like the more mellow tunes at the end but the more punky parts were still very nice to groove along to.
Closer to 4 but not enough to give it one
Sólo me gusta Sofa Of My Lethargy y Alright. Estilos distintos.
It’s an album I’d have to be in a certain mood to listen to because a lot of it is not really my taste. Most liked tracks: - Alright - Time - Sofa of my Lethargy - Time to Go
Jolly Britpunk/pop by teenagers. I find it a bit insubstantial.
It sounds good and had a good feel, but not something I would have on my playlist.
нууу просто норм
Loved the album cover. Pretty alternative Indy sound. There was some catchy tunes. Kinda between The Monkeys (Alright), The Killers (Lose it & Lenny) and Fraggle Rock (We're not supposed to)? Eh? I don't know I'm a doctor Jim not a music critic.
Honestly a lot more fun than I thought it would be. Great musicians.
I usually don't like Brit Pop, but this band has a punk feel. Most will recognize "Alright" from Clueless, but there are other songs worth listening to.
Not my usual choice in music but by Sofia I liked it. Fast mostly but under control. Shades of old groups like who pink Floyd and John Lennon Norwegian wood drop in and out. Most of it I liked. Best to me were alright and Sofia.
Don't mind it but not into it either.
This one is pretty fun to listen to. Not my usual jam, but decent.
aight
Solid enough Britpop. Alright is one of the best songs of the genre/era, I’m surprised they aren’t more of a household name in the US based on the merits of that song alone. Caught by the Fuzz, Strange Ones are also very good pop rock. They are basically a rattier sounding Jam. It’s impressive for a debut too, they sound more confident than cocky. Nothing about this is innovative or unique though, just solid Britpop.
3/4
Mansize rooster is a sleeper track, I was a fan of the melody. Of course Alright is a classic. I am a bigger fan of this than i was expecting.
3,5/5
It's "Alright"
02.09.23 - listened on my way to work. I can see why it’s in this list, classic Brit pop. A few songs I will go back and listen to!
••••• Banger! •••• Playlist material ••• Wouldn’t turn it off •• Take it or leave it • Not feeling it 1 | I’d Like To Know •••• 2 | Caught By the Fuzz ••• 3 | Mansize Rooster •• 4 | Alright ••••• 5 | Lose It •• 6 | Lenny •••• 7 | Strange Ones ••••• 8 | Sitting Up Straight •••• 9 | She’s So Loose ••• 10 | We’re Not Supposed To •• 11 | Time •• 12 | Sofa Of My Lethargy • 13 | Time To Go •
Okay music, I listened 3 times and while the guitar riffs were okay, I couldn't really feel it. Lyrics kept washing over my ears and I could never latch on in my listens. Might be a me problem, but didn't enjoy this one.
3rd Listen: Previous ratings: 2/5, 3/5 Standouts: Alright, Mansize Rooster, Caught by the Fuzz, Lose It, Lenny. Rating: 3.5/5
Supergrass is one of those bands that I knew of, but never listened to. This was a pleasant introduction. From the get go, there's a ton of energy and I found my hands drumming along throughout most of the album. "Alright" was the only song that I recognized, likely from soundtracks and commercials. To me, this album sounded like what I think adolescence was supposed to be like. Running around with friends and getting into all sorts of trouble (but not too much). Admittedly, it is not the kind of music that I would normally seek out, as I'm not a big Britpop listener, but that's what this 1001 albums project is about. I enjoyed, but I didn't love it. 3.5*, which I will round down to 3*.
Feels very like....Fratellis-adjacent which is a style I don't mind at all, but it just doesn't get me super stoked.
We gon be alright
Only like four of these songs made me feel something and one was the one with the weird minion-ass vocals in the beginning, so make of that what you will.
Hmm... 3 bis 4 Sterne. Nöd so min Sound. Aber glich no guet gmacht. Mal luege.
I don't know anything about this band or this record, and when I see a band if from England in the 90s I immediately cringe because of the very bad track record this list has in egregiously over representing British music, but this record was surprisingly enjoyable. A much more punk vibe and energy than I was expecting. A pleasant surprise.
Alright es un temazo
Pretty good. Not remarkable.
Actually liked this album more than I thought I would.
Not particularly a fan of Cockney rhyming slang. Otherwise this is pretty fun.
Some interesting stuff every once and a while. 5/10
Decent, some fun moments but nothing really stuck out. Kinda blah overall, I'd give it a thumb sideways if there was such an emoji.
Alright is a tune and Lenny is also very good. The rest is perfectly fine - there’s some nice and interesting stuff towards the end but it’s pretty inconsequential on the whole
This was hard to rate because I have feeling that this album has wide spectrum of songs. Too wide in my opinion. There are songs that are too chaotic, one or two are more mainstream and some are between those two points. This inconsistency made it not very pleasant as a whole but some songs are good.
I’d Like to Know, Alright, Lenny, Strange Ones, Time, Sofa of my Lethargy and Time To Go. Instrumentals are better than the singing. I hate We’re Not Supposed To. I don’t like the cover. No don’t show me that.
Some good parts to this album, but nothing special really. Much better britpop out there. FS: Mansize Rooster, Time to Go
Britpop-punk sounds promising but turned out to be quite a mediocre variety of alt-rock.
Feel-good punk. Catchy tunes. A bit generic at times, but overall a fun listen. The Undertones are still better though.
Kinda digging it...
I'm not a fan of this 90s britpop. I don't think it's bad but I'm not a fan
Feeling a bit burnt out after weeks of gravel so probably didn't give this as much attention as I should have, but I did enjoy it. Realized I knew Alright but everything else was new. 3.5/5
I preferred the second album. This one is quite raw, some places in a good way, other places in a not so great way. I don't like "Alright" and that soured the experience for me slightly. I really like "Caught by the Fuzz" though, so it's all good. There was a nice variety of tempos and sounds, but it felt a little incohesive.
Pretty decent.
Not as good as "We Only In It For the Money" but still a decent album from a fun band.
I didn't realise that punk was still a thing in 1995, although "Mansize Rooster" sounds like it could have been inspiration for the Kaiser Chiefs. I quite like the classic "Alright" but didn't realise it was by Supergrass - if pushed I would have said Blur or Squeeze. Pretty average on the whole.
Good but very repetitive.
Effectivement je coco
je découvre avec effroi l'existence du cockney rhyming slang
Banger
Enjoyed
A pretty standard album from an otherwise great band
Pretty easy fun pop punk. 3.5.
Melodic n quirky Britpop. Good stuff.
Out of context, since I didn't know about this band before, "I Should Coco" is ok. It doesn't fall clearly into any categories such as punk, new wave, emo, or some kind of "post-" descriptive prefix. I couldn't even tell exactly what time frame it was from, just that it's energetic, frenetic, sneery, glamy, brash, and juvenile - dictionary definition of a rock band. It can be a good thing to evade a clear context, but in this case it's more like being inert and innocuous.
The singles are great but the album tends to drift a little.
The album starts off at 100 mph but just seems to loose pace and slows down to a crawl. Supergrass were one of those bands that didn't seem to get as much of the spotlight as their britpop counterparts save from their song "Alright" which is pretty much a staple of every 90's playlist. This album kinda shows why as after a blistering start it just sort of deflates.
Pleasantly surprised by this album
Good frantic 90’s bitpop. A happy listen but I prefer their later efforts.
I like it, but is it really an album I had to listen to? 3/5
Classic brit-pop album! Some nice guitar work at the beginning, and after "Alright", the jammy tracks come on and are quite nice. Slightly repetitive, but the rhythm changes sort of make up for it.
Not bad. Not much to say. 3 T3B 1. Strange Ones 2. Alright 3. She’s So Loose
Alright...classic
Best song Alright
Not my thing
not as good as the other one, but solid.
Album was a fun listen, didn’t find anything groundbreaking but a solid album.
När brittisk musik var bra. Blev dock ledsamt att lyssna på exakt samma sak i 40 min. 6/10
This was just ok for me. Sounded like the soundtrack to a movie I haven’t seen.
Some great tracks on this record. However, do yourself a favor and skip the song “We’re not supposed to”. That track is an absolute ear bleeder, especially with the high pitch noise in the beginning.
Frantic and nervy, like a jittery Elvis Costello jawn.
I had never listened to a whole album of Supergrass, just the singles really. It was ok but hadn’t made me want to listen to more. Sorry.
All kinds of manic energy but I'm not feeling it.
Kinda interesting energy but parts of it just kinda went by. Curious to listen to more of them if it gets a bit more polished though.
A pleasant surprise! Lots of energy, fun to listen to, and didn't feel dated like a lot of the 90's albums on this list have. 3.5 stars
brit-pop punk
I'll give it another listen somewhere down the road, but my current assessment has it rated as not spectacular, not horrible, and most importantly, not immediately forgettable. As an aside, my wife was dancing to the whole thing. So whatever my rating, I suspect this will somehow end up in my collection.
Ionno if I’d listen to it again but it was an interesting dive into a fruit medley of punk, surfer rock, and psychedelic. Sofa of my Lethargy was prolly my favorite song. The way the vocals sound dunked under water reminds me of some Avey Tare, but this music took a lower hallucinogen dose
Mmmm
Caught by the fuzz, Mansize Rooster, Alright, Lose It, Lenny Bon album! Rend bien en concert
A couple really good songs, but not enough for a 4-star rating.
Very mediocre. 2.5 rounded up.
Surprised, had only heard Alright before would probably listen again.
Pretty decent upbeat, pop rock. Could have fit right in with the early 2000’s indie rock surge. Alright is a bop and a half. 3 stars
???/////
Fun britpop type album
Not the best of the britpop
Proper 90s flashback!
A decent album but ultimately not for me.
There is a lot of britpop on this list. This one was one of the better britpop records on here. Great production, and a diversified sound. Solid record.
fun!
This was decent. The song from the Clueless soundtrack made me like it a little more.
Cool pinky like sound with good energy
Not my style
I've known about Supergrass for ages, but was never impelled to listen to them. I found this album pretty good, but don't feel that I was missing anything particularly
inoffensive and more to my taste than others. but not exceptional.
Interesting album. I've never been exposed to this one. I find this catchy, and as the album progressed, began to like it more and more. Definitely could see rolling down the highway to this one all alone in the desert. The vocals are unique and interesting. Drums were notably good and drive the power of the band. Guitar on She's So Loose and the song overall is very attractive and kept me in. Great chord progressions and cadence shifts. Overall, I really like this album and it was much better than I expected!
Lively, good fun from the 90's. Nothing wrong with this one.
Mostly solid album. Loved "Alright", brings me straight back to the 90s. Hated "We're Not Supposed To", why do they sound like chipmunks? Averages out.
90s sound alright
Mediocre English Green Day that has a keyboard to start. Has that song 'Alright' that's alright I guess. Sofa of my Lethargy was good. Album improved as it went on
5/10. I'll probably forget this album by tomorrow. By the way, what the fuck was "We're Not Supposed To"?
Sure is britpop. I knew the big hit but I can’t help but feel this is another one hit wonder album on the list. 5/10
It's okay.
Sólo me gusta Sofa Of My Lethargy y Alright. Estilos distintos.
I don't really love anything here... Alright clearly stands out and Caught By The Fuzz has a moment... but much of the album is just adequate heavily british rock...doesn't really hit me. It's OK.
There are like 30 different albums already on this list that sound exactly like this one
Alright
Enjoyable, 3*
Alright. I liked 'Caught by the Fuzz'
A pleasant surprise. Can't quite give it 4 stars, but I'd give it 3.5.
I enjoyed this!
3.5!
decent. 3/5
I liked this for the most part. I hadn’t listened the Alright for a few years and I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Lose It and Time To Go were two nice discoveries.
Pretty cool. I like the drums and rhythm section really seems to push ahead with punk rock energy. I Remember that song “ Alright” is super catchy. Can hear lots of 60’s British rock influence it even got a little jammy towards the end. I didn’t like the chipmunk voices song.
I actually enjoyed this. I liked she’s so loose the best. Don’t think I need to hear anything again.
For a UK punk "ugh..." sounding bad, I enjoyed it. Wasnt great, wasnt bad. 2.5 stars but ill give it a three only because they had some change ups and their sounds wasnt the same bland chords and whatever. Plus, I knew a song on there thats a classic tune. Maybe these guys were moving out of the GAWDY 90s and into the bright 2000ks
I didn't much like the first third of this album. It became more enjoyable towards the back end of it though.
considering this album art intrigued me i have to say the first 3 songs dragged a bit. can't imagine why anyone would want those as album openers but w/e. i didn't know they were responsible for 'alright' so tht was a nice moment of realisation. then immediately afterwards everything picked up at breakneck speed. i love how eclectic the entire body of work turned out to be and this is doubly funny to know ppl gripe abt this album when it it's considered a part of the sonic british canon or w/e. like,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,it's not tht srs babes
Standout tracks: Caught By the Fuzz, Alright, Time Definitely a solid mid-90s Brit power pop album. That being said, this isn't my favorite style of music, so I don't see myself coming back to it much aside from the standout tracks mentioned above. Fun album though.
Favs: – Caught by the fuzz – She's so loose
garage punk band 3.5
somewhat misplaced, not my dig
It was very fun
It was fun
Overall, there’s a great energy, and this is a fun pop rock album that could be thrown on for some background vibe energy. There are times the album sounds like something offered up by a band like Madness or Oasis, and maybe been something that could have popped up 10 years later in the 2000s. Finding “Alright” answered a question I didn’t know I had, as I know I’ve heard it in a million commercials (might be the same one commercial played over and over). Until now, I’ve never known who performed it, so this was fun to learn today. Overall, this was a fun listen and maybe after a few extra listens, a few more gems could emerge for you.
It was good. I wasn't paying much attention to it.
Eh
Really British :( but it's good.
That one single, Alright, I recognized. It’s a fun song, heard it used before in lots of movies and ads. The rest is generic Brit pop rock, unremarkable.
Un album de punk qui me laisse indifférent... Après avoir écouté The Stranglers, The Hives et the Smiths (The queen is dead) dans la même semaine, celui-ci tombe un peu a plat... Un 3 car c'est pas si pire.
Another fun album. Been getting a lot of different he genres lately so it keeps me on my toes
Brit pop passed me by, so this was a discovery… a pleasant one. Enjoyable, a bit manic but worth a second hearing.
The first two songs absolutely slap, which I am filing under false advertising
Three hairy boys come stumbling out of the mid 90's with some classic Britpop. Think Mexican wolf boys on speed, but they're from Oxford. Best Tracks: Caught By The Fuzz; Mansize Rooster; Alright
Ok but other than a couple stand out songs, kinda samey
A fun, pleasant listen
It wasn't good and it wasn't bad, it just was.
Interesting album. Sofa of My Lethargy sounded like it was from the 70s, I’d Like to Know from the 80s, and Alright is peak 90s. I don’t know that I’d ever listen to the album straight through again, but a few good songs
Very high energy, most of it is pretty good.
Catchy, very catchy in places.
Some loud punk songs, some slower acoustic songs, overall a mixed bag, a typical example of mid 90s alternative rock. I recognized the song "Alright" from a few TV shows, movies, and commercials.
It was alright. Sounded like some inspiration for the New Pornographers. Wasn't quite catchy enough for me to think I'll return.
We are young we are free I think I’ll give this a 3
The last group I was in I believe that this album came up. It wasn't terrible, sounded very much 90s, kept me moving on my walk, so 3 stars for you Supergrass!
Not bad.
i dont rememember 3?
Middle of the road guitar-based 'geezer' rock. It's OK but nothing special.
The album was alright. It not really a punk album but whatever a step below punk is. It was relatively short which was good. I did not recognize any of the songs, nor was I familiar with the band. I did not skip any songs. I do not think I will relisten to the album.
Was okay, not the biggest fan, similar to a lot of albums on here.
It's not necessarily my thing- garage rock never was. Hipsters love this shit. It's certainly not bad though, and Alright and Time to Go were good.
