It was fun. I liked Time to go the best.
isk me mrzelo da poslusam bas ceo album tkd mid
Kind of reminds me of a more experimental/poppy version of the buzzcocks.
What's one more Brit Pop album among all the others in the list? Listened before? N Saved tracks? N Favorite tracks? Caught By the Fuzz, Alright, Sofa of My Lethargy ⭐⭐⭐ Liked it. Saved a couple tracks.
ой, кул ого, я навіть одну пісню знала нагадує мазер мазер якісь пісні ніби однакові трохи
First time hearing of these guys and they're not bad. I read "I should coco" is slang? for "I should hope so". I like that. The music is fine, could be 4/5 but for personally going 3.
Good for what it is but derivative pop rock in the post rock era has a pretty limited upside
Meh. Alright.
cool, not amazing
Thirty seconds in, I found myself wondering if an album had ever been bold enough to put its worst song first and then progressively improve until the final track. I couldn’t think of one like that. This one started meh but did vastly improve. I went from 2 to 3 to maybe 4 over the course of the album, and that’s no easy feat after starting with that first song.
Yay more mid-90s brit-pop. Always well done, never relatable.
This is generic 90s rock music. Slightly reminds me of [[The Beatles]].
Alright has always been one of my favorite songs, album was good
- i feel like a rebel kid listening to this, listening to alright with the windows down is SUCH an experience - du punk rock accessible et facile à écouter - cet album a définitivement influencé le indie rock world surtout avec ses chansons un peu plus soft - meilleure chanson: strange ones, time to go
I'd never heard of this album (or this band), though it turns out that I was previously familiar with "Alright" without knowing who had created it. This is three-chord, slightly punky alt-pop, well-conceived and well-executed. The songs are punchy, short, and fun (though I could do without the Chipmunks-style sped-up vocals on "We're Not Supposed To". Favorite track is probably "She's So Loose" with it's interesting chord choices. Overall, it's nothing that rocked my world, but there's nothing here to object to, and I'd have no problem listening to it again -the very definition of a three-star album.
Good album. Alright is a classic great track. Some others like I’d like to know, Mansize Rooster, and Strange Ones really grew on me with a couple of listens
This was old but new. I liked it. Apparently I already knew the song Alright but never knew the band. Going with a 3.5 stars.
It was ok
Interesting. When does this end?
not bad, along with a handful of songs that i already like
jako je to takovy britpop nu, somehow mi to zni celkem povedome, mozna uz jsem nektere ty pisnicky slysela v radiu nebo tak (ofc "alright" je znama, tu mam naposlouchanou z internetu) ale je to fun, je to takove diverzni, takove skoro teenage zaujala me mansize rooster, lose it, sitting up straight a taak:3
This had me Caught By the Fuzz
Copied from 'In it for the money' by Supergrass from 30 albums ago... I like Supergrass. I like this album. Is it a vitally important album of modern music despite its fun? Not sure how revolutionary it was. Still great mind. I didn't enjoy this as much as 'In it for the money' and because two Supergrass albums is too much, this one just gets a 3.
3*
pusiau perklausiau bet gerai bet ne super
Album #15: I Should Coco - Supergrass Genre (according to Wikipedia): Punk rock, Britpop, alternative rock, pop-punk Singles?: Caught by the Fuzz, Mansize Rooster, Lose It, Lenny, Alright Have you listened to this album or group before?: Only “Alright”. Thoughts?: So far, the album has witty lyrics! I love the wry humor in them! Honestly, the album isn’t wowing me so far. I don’t know why, maybe I’m not so much into it. Favorite songs: Mansize Rooster, Alright, Strange Ones*, We’re Not Supposed To, Time to Go As a writer, what can you use this album for when honing your craft?: I can’t think of anything specific, but montages of morning scenes would be best. File correlations: File #009: Force Devils

Bara solid. Samt undir þremur, ekki yfir. Lítið ris fannst mér.
Caught me by surprise! Actually a pretty good listen!
Good ol' rock
Great 90s alternative album, it keeps getting better as the album progresses. Highlights: “Alright” and “Time”
It’s fun, but I think its significance may be lost on me as an American. Same goes for a lot of the Britpop albums I get.
Good energy and well-constructed songs.
7. fav so far, rock/britpop
Alright !!
The first track was slightly off putting but the album proceeded to get better. There was that one point where anyone unfamiliar with this band probably went “Oh, it’s THIS song!” I know I did. Anyway, alright album. Not enough for a 4, but not low enough for a 3. Alas, 3 stars it is.
Band is about as tight as you can possibly be, energy is good, but I still felt pretty "meh" about this. Alright is a good song but not stellar enough to make up for the "sameness" I felt through the album.
Fun. Maybe would've enjoyed more if I heard it in the 90s. Or maybe I would have hated it.
3.5 1. Bien 2. Cracra mais bien 3. Azy répétitif 4. The famous one 5. Same as 3 but better 6. Good 7. Banger 8. Bien punchy super 9. Tf is that title mais j'aime la proposition 10. 🏴🏴🏴 IS THAT BLUR ?!?! Good 11. On s'ennuie (riff de neuil) 12. blur ?? Vrm bien 13. reallyyyy gorgeous Et bien début d'album un peu too much qui donne pas bonne impression et fin super bien équilibrée supplément pas mal de chansons à réécouter pcq la voix pêche parfois + pochette traumatisante
Yeah like definitly a good time
Took a bit to open up to the album, but in the end it was really enjoyable, 3,4/5
This album is the exact reason I am trying these albums. I would have never listened to this naturally. I’ll listen to some of the songs again. I wish I could give it 3.5 stars. 1/5 didn’t finish the album 2/5 didn’t keep the album 3/5 kept it and will listen when songs randomly show up on shuffle 4/5 kept it and will listen to it again front to back on my phone 5/5 buying the vinyl
Mycket stark trea ändå! Några lite störiga låtar som drar ner tyvärr, annars härlig platta
Var på väg på mot 4 några gånger men det får nog bli 3.
The album cover is some demented Cerberus nightmare. Guarding the gates of punk heaven. Boo! Gotcha. When Peter Tork left the Monkees in 1968, the band continued as a threesome. When Hanson was MMMbopping the globe, they were a threesome. These three can easily charm their way out of a paper bag. Songs bounce from bouncy to borderline serious, bop-bop-boppin' along. If Coco is short for coconut, you're nuts if you don't dig this group, and your head is full of unsweetened pulp.
Jaunty powerpop from the mid 90s made mildly interesting by the way it overtly places itself in the Kinks-ish, punkish, new-waveish English canon.
I feel like I really should have more about this band considering when they arrived and their contemporaries. Good solid brit rock. Favorite track: Alright
Love it
Feel alright
I liked this better than I thought I would (read about it often but I never gave it a full spin before, it seems). It's a surprisingly versatile and highly infectious debut. I came to think of labeling it a very ambitious garage rock record. Supergrass have the ferocious energy that made a lot of their predecessors landmarks of the British Music Scene (oftentimes, the Jam and Buzzcocks come to mind). But there is also a psychedelic side to things on the flipside: “Sofa of my Lethargy” is such a nice little meandering suite of swirling guitar and a beautifully fuzzy build-up that I even get Elephant 6 vibes. I Should Coco doesn’t waste time — the four musicians let you know their ambition right out of the gate with their mod- and punk-infused opening triplet “I’d Like to Know”, “Caught by the Fuzz” (what an apt title) and “Mansize Rooster.” What makes the record stand out for me, however, is Supergrass’ ability to write instantly memorable choruses, which they perfected in the mid-section of the record — “Strange Ones” and “Sitting Up Straight.” There, their influences come together seamlessly and complement each other the best; the blend just works perfectly. A minus point for the utterly obnoxious “We’re Not Supposed To” (is it supposed to be an interlude?) Oh man… and it's not even a hidden track or sth. Just placed smack in the middle of the second half.
Good fun album 3.5/5
“Alright” is pure 2010s music supervisor-core. A great tune, but it’s hard not to think of a Kia commercial when I hear it.
Some solid fun songs!
Real good bar music. Fun jam.
I also want to like Supergrass, but end up thinking of them as a second-rate version of Ash, which is quite unfair, but that's where me head goes They can certainly bang out a good tune which I'm happy to nod along to on the radio, but dont have any space for in my collection
So close to 4 stars, nearly everything is really fun and enjoyable to listen. But only Alright was unique enough for me to think its an essential song to have heard.
I guess it’s a good example of the genre, but early- to mid-90s pop punk stuff is not my jam.
this either, think it was fine one good song idk i cant remember 3/5
I've always gotten Supergrass and Superchunk confused. All I can ever remember is that I really like one of them. Turns out, Superchunk's the one I like. This isn't bad, it's just far too... Britpop for me.
Not bad, better than I was expecting.
I honestly thought that Alright song was from the early 2010s. Pretty fun listen
A lot faster and heavier than I expected. Its not death metal or anything like that, but it has a bit of a kick to it Its better than a 3 but not as good as a 4
I think I’d always had Supergrass as inferior in the British music scene, but actually impressed by the opener and made me take notice. And of course, the classic ‘Alright’ great energy and vibrancy throughout. Grabs you and takes you through the streets and experience of youth. Can hear the historic influences, but also feels like it’s sets up for bands like QOTSA and a lot of what came afterwords in indie/rock. Couple of quick, sharp track in the middle. Better than expected and a new view of Supergrass (3.5)
I recall enjoying a lot of Supergrass in college. My favorite song wasn't on this album - Pumpin On Your Stereo - but Alright is also a classic. Still fun occasionally as an adult to dip back into this one! 3⭐️
This was just a fun album to listen to.
Pretty good, could see it growing on me. A bit one note at times but appreciate the straightforward energy of it.
Not great
Don't get the billy corgan vibes i got from in it for the money. It's serviceable rock and roll, but for the number of times I've heard them gassed up I was expecting more.
Was so confused by the first half of this album. Couldn't get into any of it. The second half kind of blew me away. Surprising to me that all the singles are in the first half. I'd call this a great album if it weren't for that. Sofa of my lethargy is their Beatles song.
Some really fun jams on this record... others are just repetitive and whiny.
Fun album. Good songs. 7 out of 10. But rounding down. (Also: from Wikipedia: "selling over a million copies worldwide and 500,000 in the UK." Sounds like almost half their album sales were in the UK. This project is very biased towards such albums.)
I only new "Alright". The songs have variety and in general interesting, though a bit too Pop for me. 7/10
Sometimes fun Britpop, interesting to find out where the song Alright comes from. Saved a song: N RYM: N
Ah so nice to get back to some rock ‘n roll again and this one rocks! Once again a band I’ve heard of but never really listened to. There’s a lot of good energy on this one with some hyper drumming and loud guitars. The songs are good with some interesting chord progressions and vocal melodies, all in a pop rock framework. Not sure if this is essential listening right now but with repeated listens I can see this one being justified so. Definitely want to hear their other albums to see where they went after this.
Hat gut Druck, zieht schön, angenehm weirde Stimme. Hält das Niveau bis zum Schluss. Gutes Album! 7/10
One 5-star song and some filler brit pop
I thought this was great when it came out. It's OK.
I could write a few more paragraphs about my hate towards britpop, this album doesn‘t deserve it though, it‘s actually decent. Nevertheless it‘s nothing that I would actually return to
Good, chilled out, pleasant vibes, nothing standout.
WE ARE STRANGE IN OUR WORLDS
Since it's a rule for every album for some reason, we've got the weird track of We're Not Supposed To. Everything else is alright though.
Fun songs with lots of energy. Reminds me of The Jam or a punkier version of the Kinks. It really dips for me in the second half tho. They try to go for a spacier vibe but the songs aren’t really that memorable and it kills the pacing. It’s like they discovered weed half way through making this album. Not essential listening but still a good time. Favs: I’d Like To Know- Super high energy and the organ reminds me of Elvis Costello. Alright- One of the best pop songs of the 90s. Least Favs: We’re Not Supposed To- Discount Ween. Time- Boring.
Hmm. I think Alright is overrated tbh
3.5/5
I can't believe the only song I knew previously was Alright. I would have thought I'd venture deeper after hearing that one. Love the energy. Has a great Brit sound.
Okay I know it's a three, but it's a very high 3! Really wish they'd let us do half stars on this, but I get it. Too many divisions makes the rating system somewhat pointless, blah blah blah. There are some great tracks on here (Damn, "Caught by the Fuzz" is a banger, "She's so Loose" is real Pinegrove-y before Pinegrove could be Pinegrove-y) and just a few complete misses (what's happening with the album closer?), so I guess overall I really like but do not love this one. Points for surprising me with "Alright"; I figure we all know this song, but I could never have told you who wrote it *or* that it was a product of 1995. I know the phrase "ahead of their time" is such a meaningless cliche, but I do think it applies here for the most part.
This album was Alright, pun intended. It really is by far the best song on this album. That said the rest of the album was definitely listenable.
I REALLY enjoyed the first half of the album, but then it faded away by the back half. Probably because my expectations of the album changed as I heard the first few songs. I wish they kept the catchy up tempo vibe throughout.
Perfectly fine.
Reminded me of Ponte Pilas. A reckless late-teens British energy casting aside rules, drunk on the good times.
I wish this was a little shorter, but this was a fun ride.
Too punky for me but solid
Punky
In late 1994, so the story goes, Supergrass were introduced to Sir Cliff Richard as "a young group aged just 18 who just released their debut single". To which Sir Cliff replied he started at age 17. In a magazine a year later, Gaz Coombes of Supergrass recalled his response: “Yeah, but I bet it wasn’t about snorting coke.” Perhaps apocryphal but it's a story about quick wit, a finger up against the establishment, and utter confidence. And that pretty much sums up this album. Fun times.
J’étais assez sceptique au départ, mais certaines chansons m’ont beaucoup plu!
Love the band but think this album is just alright. Personally think road to Rouen is much better
Supergrass’s I Should Coco comes barreling out of the gate with a frenzied, youthful swagger, the trio clearly enamored with glam rock’s strut and sneer, but the album’s blown-out, everything-in-the-red production keeps it from ever fully shining. There’s a raw, shout-along exhilaration in tracks like “Mansize Rooster” and the sugar-rush anthem “Alright,” which captures the band’s wide-eyed, hyperactive charm so perfectly that it practically advertises itself. But the lo-fi muddiness often mashes their bright hooks into a noisy smudge, and when they stretch into cheeky pastiche—like the throwback weirdness of “We’re Not Supposed To”—it starts to feel more like affectation than attitude. Still, the record winds down nicely with the strummy, mellow “Time to Go,” hinting at a band that could sharpen its sound and still keep its pulse racing.
Not for me!
Son com uns Blur accelerats,ni tan mal,un hit comercial entremig i diversió. Lo dit...ni tan mal. 6'5.
Hmm. This is tricky. On the one hand, the shredding rock on here is great, while the mellow tracks are more forgettable and blend together. Don't think I'll listen to it again.
Hey, this album. YouTube Music recently put on a song from this which I remember liking. This is 90s alternative, if I'm not mistaken. I'm curious to rediscover the one song from this that I liked, so I may as well just hop into it. Yeah, not bad. There's a surprising spread of stylistic influences on this album, and the echoey guitars and distinctly Britpop vocals are both pretty good. I'm not too crazy for this style of music and I think the album gets weaker as it enters the second half, but this was a good time overall. "I'd Like to Know" is a solid opener. The drum explosion at the beginning of the song is attention-grabbing and the guitars have a nice bit of weight to them. Decent vocals, too. "Alright" is the song I've heard before. I never would have guessed that it hails from an album with a prominent punk influence. Still, it's a good tune. The piano guides the song along nicely, and the punchy vocal melody makes for a gratifying listen. "Lenny" has a pretty good guitar loop. "Time to Go" is a nice closer. It has some more of that nice guitarwork, and the addition of an acoustic guitar goes a long way in creating a nice, layabout sound. I'm checking the book. The band were pretty young when this was released. Nothing else is in there aside from a history lesson. Wikipedia reveals that this album released at the height of Britpop, was influential within the genre and charted pretty well in the singles and album department. This doesn't appear to have much in the way of an enduring legacy for this album and I'm beginning to grow weary of the reverence this list has for Britpop, though I can let this one slide. It's pretty decent, and I'm beginning to hit a deficit of albums that I can replace the weaker cuts with. I cosign this inclusion.
Don't have a lot of thoughts on this one. Pretty good, wouldn't hate listening again but not particularly tempted to replay immediately.
Decent guitar band. Didn’t change my life
more britpop. alright is a great song
Pretty good stuff never listened before. Will probably go back
"Time" is the standout track. “Alright” is just that.
Started to all sound the same towards the end.
Oi listened to thees punky album on a chewsday innit
to angry for my liking, but a few good songs
Solid Brit-pop album. Solid bunch of rock songs, nothing exceptional here aside from one track “Alright” which is a wonderful pop tune! 7/10 Favorite tracks-“Alright” “Mansize Rooster” “Strange Ones”
3/5
3.5 like it
This album was a mixed bag for me. Some good stuff, some bad stuff. I can appreciate that it definitely wasn’t a one note album. There’s a lot of variation between the songs that make them distinct, which is something that a lot of these rock albums lack. Though, I personally didn’t enjoy all of it. Alright is still a fantastic song and I’ll enjoy that on any listen.
I expected to hate it, I've always found britpop to be overrated but this started like a train. And the alright happened and that song is much more ploddy than I remembered. From there it seemed to promise excitement a lot but never quite delivered.
3.5
Supergrass is always a solid B+ for me, but somehow never higher.
Beach babies and grunge. Second side much better
B I'd Like To Know 3 Caught By The Fuzz 5 Mansize Rooster 3 Alright 4 Lose It 3 Lenny 3 Strange Ones 4 Sitting Up Straight 3 She's So Loose 4 We're Not Supposed To 4 Time 3 Sofa (Of My Lethargy) 3 Time To Go 4 It’s a fun album, but I wish Wait for the Sun was in it instead of being bonus content because it’s the best song.
Pretty British
I knew alright from this album but nothing else. Some songs are jams and then the very next one will be mediocre. Overall, I dig it. 3.5
Never been a huge fan of the most well-known song on this album "Alright". The rest of the album is passable.
Not much to say except I definitely recognized Alright.
Some really fun different punk songs and then some that were not so spectacular. Pretty much right down the middle 3
I enjoyed this, but it didn’t blow my mind.
Probably quite influential on all the garage rock bands of the noughties but I didn't find it all that exciting.
Enjoyable listening. 3.5⭐
Not my style. Probably and excellent representation of the genre but there are better. Didn’t finish all songs.
meio punk top
I think it's funny how Alright, a nostalgic banger of a track that's only really known for its use in Clueless and other commercials in America, comes to me at a time when I'm depressed out of my mind. But with that fact notwithstanding, Supergrass' debut is well worth the time. There's some weird tracks with high pitched Cockneys running wild. It sort of takes away from those songs, but most of the other songs aim to kick ass. They do it well too. It's English punk with the alternative/Britpop flavoring. Also I learned that Spielberg saw the video for Alright and wanted to make a Monkees type TV show out of the band, true story (7/10, 3/5 on this scale)
Standouts Time Sofa of My Lethargy
Ok
Better than I expected from supergrass/a post punk album in general. 3/5
Everytime Len Houmous met Gaz Coombes he always called him Damon Alburn. Gaz hated it. 2.5 4/13 Alright
Nothing on here that cought my ear. It was ok but not special.
Day 45 Listened to this a lot as a teenager in the 90s, musically or lyrically it’s not reinventing the wheel but it’s still pretty fun 6/10 Highlights I’d Like to Know Lose it
Starts as pretty typical 90s British grunge/punk but gets pretty deep and melodic near the end. Would listen again.
Some great tracks here. Love the sound. I enjoyed this one
Look. I am not completely against Britpop as a genre. However, going into this album thinking it was British punk put it at a serious disadvantage in terms of my initial perception first listen. Not to sound like a passe baby boomer, but it felt quite teenybopper. Reminded me of the Beatles/Monkees. Actually, my favourite parts were when it felt more like the Stones. Like most Britpop at the time, I think this album looks to encapsulate the 'voice of the youth'. I was going to argue that Supergrass did a pretty good job of this because they were teenagers at the time, but this time I actually researched before I opened my big mouth. And guess what! I was wrong. Only frontman Gaz Coombs was an adolescent when the album was recorded, the others in their early to mid 20s. But who cares really, I mean, the relation between maturity and age is not statistically significant, and maturity isn’t an all-or-nothing kind of thing. I know people in their middle age with the maturity of a child who cannot take accountability for spilling a glass of milk, and people my age with almost too much emotional intelligence. I Should Coco contains songs that celebrate being an independent, free young person, as well as songs designed to please their mums. Supergrass quite comfortably push and pull between trying to separate themselves from the dominant sound and finding comfort in its normality. There are times they get too mawkish for my tastes, and there are times they kick ass with confident command. If I were to place them under the larger umbrella of Britpop, the band did well to capture the ebullience of the cheerful years of youth, but, compared to Blur or Pulp, did little to really make a mark in the area of socio-cultural reflection.
it’s time to go to the place where the strange ones go just not really my typa music
Had a couple songs a knew and liked but probably won’t listen again
That song Alright is from this album! They are a little too *$-#(_!@)@)(✓{€×¢ sounding for me but i appreciate them! i will keep in mind for next time i want a rock bop thing
Good, very good listening, but not Whoa!
Terrible album cover, mildly enjoyable alternative brit pop/rock album that seemed to go completely unnoticed in the US. I was also surprised that I actually knew a song from this album, "Alright," which I believe has been used in either commercials or movies (or maybe both) giving the feel and spirit of a teen anthem of sorts. Not bad, but nothing more than a 3.25/5.
Raucous, frenetic, energetic, upbeat, yet melodic brit-pop. Much better than anything Oasis or their copycats have ever done.
The way this started I thought it was from the late 70's early 80's. Very punk. After that it settled down a bit, not a bad listen to be fair, got to be worth a 3.
It's ok, not their best. Safe Britpop. I'm not sure why it's on the list. But I still like it apart from the song which sounds like a kiddies TV theme.
I only really knew alright and I think that's the main one I will keep listening to. But fun to hear it in the context of their oeuvre. Peppy and british.
I think this one could definitely grow on me, but for now it lands on a 3.5. Should've listened to the remastered version bcs the original is a bit Wall-of-sound imo...
This was alright. I didn’t listen to the whole thing.
Surprisingly enjoyable punky brit-rock.
At first I was like oh great more 80's brit pop rock, but they had quite a few different sounds going for them on top of that, decent listen but I won't revisit it
Never my favourite britpop band, and I don't think this has aged well. Couple of bangers but a lot of forgettable tracks
Better than Coldplay
decent pop punk record
Not my thing. A couple of listenable songs. I don't get why some of these albums are considered to be "must listen"...
Pas mal plus aimé la fin que le début, qui lui sonnait plutôt générique
3.2 straight britpop w some catchy stuff but overall kinda weak songwriting
Eh... It is okay. It sounds good, but it also doesn't really sound all that special. No idea why Alright is such a big hit, that one was one of my least favorite. High 3.
It was alright
Meh 2.7
This is my first time listening to this album in full. Before I only knew "Alright". This is a pretty average britpop album. It's full of energy and has a bit of a charm to it. I really liked how "Strange Ones" relates back to "I'd Like to Know" both of which are highlights for me. Moments like this and the aforementioned "Alright" are really great but for the most part it doesn't beat what other britpop bands were doing at the time. I personally prefer Supergrass' 2005 album Road to Rouen. I'd recommend it if you're interested. Favorite track: Alright
The only song I was familiar with off this, was Alright, which feels like an anthem of the 90s. I remember the iconic music video well. Caught By The Fuzz is another stand out track, the rest was alright but nothing that really caught my attention.
I'd only heard "Alright", but there's some other fun stuff on here
really fun. they sounded edgy but it was also very rhythmic. I don't think I will buy the album but I will turn it up when I hear them on streaming. 6.4
It's a pleasing, natural variance that doesn't reek of showiness.
Pretty fun! Bias for that song from Clueless, but it's definitely a fun kind of summer album. Movie music.
overproduced, but catchy tunes, but also just nothing really standoutish?
A decent British pop/rock album. I recognized “Alright” from some ads in the past. Nothing else too memorable. 3/5 would passively listen to.
They are like the upbeat, good-natured younger brother of the indie / British scene—catchy and fun, but without the cool of the big boys. Weak 3!
Alright is a great song but the rest of the album doesn’t rise to the same level.
Bastante interesante, precursor de muchas cosas de los 00. 3.5
Ok, this was fun. I felt like I was 16 again learning to skateboard.
6/10
conoscevo già alright album carino, la musica ti gasa, genere che potrebbe piacere a papà
great but not very my cup of tea at the moment, I already new one song in it so it was nice to discover the others
It's alright
Pas foufou
Felt like a decent album to listen to at a rock pub or in similar settings, but otherwise found it mostly a bit annoying. More speed and tempo over finesse and catchy riffs in my opinion. Just didn't hook me somehow. Don't think I was a big fan of the singing to be honest, think that dragged it down a bit. 'Alright' stands above the rest of the songs for sure, quite catchy'! 'We're Not Supposed To' sits below the rest for sure, both because of the smurf voice, and juvenile lyrics.
Alright is pretty good, but the rest of the album is a bit disappointing compared to this track, though not completely boring.
Everyone should Coco
Ich würde mir wünschen ich könnte es höher bewerten. Komplex, vielschichtig, abwechslungsreich. Wahrscheinlich zu anspruchsvoll für mich 🙂↕️
Pretty good just not a massive britpop fan
Seminal mid 90s stuff but hasnt really improved with age.
Proper punky debut album 💪
Pretty cool Favourite song: Mansize Rooster
Cool dirt bag teenage band in some dads garage kinda vibe but loses its magic halfway through
Very interesting. The tempo of the songs is similar, but are short, energetic songs. Good for running, actually. And it has Alright, a fucking banger.
I had no context for this album prior to hearing it today, with the exception of hearing Alright on various commercials and not knowing who wrote the song. Overall, I was caught right from the get-go with the surprisingly punk I’d Like to Know. What I thought was interesting was the long the album players, the more Beatles the album became with a little Kinks mixed in, and by the time Sofa kicks in I excepted Paul to chime in somewhere in the song (which was a great song). Key song, aside from the aforementioned, was She’s so Loose and the very Bowiesque Strange Ones. If there was ever a band that ate, mesticated and digested English rock culture to grow into something new, it is Supergrass.
Random thoughts: * I definitely "heard of" Supergrass before but was pretty sure I've never heard their music before and then "Alright" came on I instantly knew I'd heard this song many times before. * "Alright" has a very timeless feel due to the use of the jaunty piano backing. I wouldn't have picked that as a song from the 1990s because I was expecting more grunge than Britpop. * Supergrass is in that Blur/Oasis 90s Britpop scene solidly. Seems like they were a bit more aggressive/punky than their counterparts on most songs beyond "Alright" * I never really listened to Supergrass in the 90s but I was basically out on the Britpop scene so not really surprising. They seemed a bit more fun and upbeat than Oasis. Too bad I didn't get into this in the 90s.
Mediocre mid 90s
Never heard of these guys. Good music.
Pretty high energy overall. I could see myself enjoying some track occasionally but a whole album at once was a bit much.
pretty good. i kind of hate the vocals but the songs are pretty catchy 6/10 Favourite: Alright Least Favourite: We're Not Supposed To
Vibes: Rebellious and very energetic Favorite: Alright, She's so Loose Least Favorite: We're Not Supposed To Rating: 7.6/10 Would Listen Again: Yes
Lots of songs I didn’t know were from this. Also it’s nice to hear a bassists cutting through

Good album, nice cleaning mix
Pretty good
Oh man, the ‘90s. I loved this record back then. Hold up well.
Pretty great
Good bass lines. Can see how this influenced a few artists, maybe the strokes or even the shins?
I'd heard Alright before. The whole album was fun.
didn't know they did "alright!" this was fun
couple good ones on there
Ok rock album
I dig this a lot. Some of it was a bit derivative and the subject matter juvenile, but it's a good time, and I'd listen again.
I hadn’t heard of this band before, but recognized “Alright” when it came on. Really solid British pop/rock album to play throughout the weekend. The album cover kind of reminds me of the old Western Hills O’Charley’s mural… IYKYK. Favorite tracks: - I’d Like To Know - Alright - Strange Ones
really good debut album, and supergrass get even better after this 3.5
Está bien
neat
ook
I’d like to know is good, like how it ends. She’s so loose is fine, sofa is great minus the very beginning which is annoying. Time to go is a solid way to wrap up the album. The overall sound of the album is alright, and some of the tracks are well put together
Meh
A group I'd never heard of before, and an album that's fine. "Mansize Rooster" and "Alright" are two pretty nice bops. Coincidentally, I had a Nirvana album yesterday. Though roughly from the same era, these guys are pretty much the opposite of that.
Average 90s British alt rock. Fun listen to, but their were better albums in this style at the time. Not sure why this era is called pop. - mitona
Didn’t know Supergrass apart from their big hit which did have a real Brit pop feel. Other tracks were a bit more post punk which I quite liked. Worth a listen
I’ve never heard of this band, but I’ve heard “Alright” in plenty of tv/movie scenes. I listened to this one twice and still don’t know how I feel about it. For the most part, I enjoyed this but don’t see myself revisiting the album or any of their others.
its okay
Første del av albumet ble litt masete for meg. Siste del ga en litt Beatles vibe. Sterk 3’er.
Not for me. Wouldn't buy.
Surprisingly palatable, punk is usually not my favorite, but there was some good stuff in here. I like the more alternative rock tracks on here but even the punk stuff was not bad.
This is one of those bands that that every song is a winner but when I get the car right combination, it’s gold. Don’t love this full album, but there’s definitely some songs that I’ve put on from time to time strange ones being one of them. I’ve always loved that song put it on many many mixtapes I like the abrupt stops in it and just in general reminds me of a theme song for you coming to Sandy movie or some kind of adventure flick overall this band has always been fun to put on. Can I have die happy not listening to Supergrass sure but I did enjoy Seeing this pop-up on the list out of all the super bands (super chunk, superdrag, etc) supergrass is 2nd favorite, ha. Some cool guitar tones and fun audio clips throughout this album. Hard to rate but feel good with a solid 3.
Creative and spastic I didn’t mind it
Great energy. Cool guitar tones. Catchy enough to be fun to listen to but punchy and aggressive enough to not lose its punk edge. Ohhh these are the guys Travie McCoy interpolated... I understand why, Alright is a good song. I can't tell if this is ahead of its time, a throwback, or exactly where it should be in the timeline. Probably a mix of all 3. Strange Ones is a lowlight, but still not terrible. "Every f****r needs a home" 🤔 Album falls off a bit once it gets softer, which is a bummer since it starts out so good. It also starts to incorporate some weird, high pitch, borderline South Park-y sounding background voices and spoken bits, which are just goofy and don't enhance the experience in any way. Sofa of my Lethargy picks it back up a bit in both interest and volume... And then lingers around for 2-3 minutes longer than it really needed to. Close out song is kind of cheesy.
Decent. Didn't hate it. 3/5 #105
album full of energy, quite cheering to listen. The 90's in all their glory
solid
Pure 90s pop. Infectious.
שירים שאהבתי: caught by the fuzz, Alright, she's so loose, Sitting up straight, Lenny, Sofa of my lethargy.
Punkier than I'd expected.
Simple but very fun. The beginning was great, but later on, this album lost a lot of its energy. Still, there's no song I dislike here. They're all pretty good, but I feel like only a couple stand out. 7/10
Easy listen. Not bad
Well looks like another crappy album after all. Let’s see. Half way through and I wouldn’t call it crappy at all. More mid 90s British alternative reminds me a lot of pulp. Couple of catchy things here nothing I’d ever come back to. Unless something blows me away in the back end of the record. Nope. Nothing blew me away.
90s britrock, emblematic of the time it came from.
Alright is the star of the album but there are a lot of enjoyable tunes as well. Supergrass brings a fun energy.
it's "Alright"
Loud and angsty. I liked strange ones, 'alright' is very famous (we are strange, we are blah, weeeere alllll right), shes so loose , second half of the ablum is more my speed, gets more indie than grunge-ish
Despite this being another British band on this list, I actually didn’t hate this one. It does have British comedy theme vibes (like this gives me vibes of Peep Show or the Inbetweeners). I like that though, the opening song was solid and so was the rest of the album!
I love Britpop, but this record never quite connected for me in the ‘90s like Blur and Pulp and Oasis and others…and still didn’t this time. Good, but not great.
3/5 for alright song alone
It's mostly fine assortment of songs but not practically memorable either 3*
Some good ones on here.
Not amazing, but good fun. I have heard of the band but none of these songs sounded at all familiar. 𝘏𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘮𝘶𝘮 𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦
A veces resulta interesante escuchar álbumes de las típicas bandas "one hit wonder". El debut de Supergrass resulta fresco y entretenido, pero poco memorable. Además de la famosísima Alright, destacaría Mansize Rooster.
i associate this album with my dad so heavily lol
This was a fun album. It wasn't really on my radar in 95. Too much Brit pop/rock at that time and I probably lumped this in with the rest which was pretty mediocre IMO. In retrospect, Supergrass dominated their peers and I wish I had given it more attention back then. This has Buzzcocks stamped all over it and I am down with that. There are a couple of whatever tracks on here, but overall this is solid. I appreciate the faster pacing of some tracks. I will spin this one again.
This one had some fun moments. It’s middle of the road for my personal taste but I enjoyed it for what it is
Alright is memorable. Not much else.
Rigtig solid energi på de fleste af de her numre, det var ret fed!
very british
Fun album by teens, for teens
6/10 its from England and it sounds like it. 6-15-2025
Witty lyrics, but the music sometimes fails to sell the story. Strong 3*
Back to back mid rock. Stfu. 3/5
id like to know- 6 caught by the fuzz- 5 mansize rooster- 5 alright- 5 lose it- 5 lenny- 5 strange ones- 6 sitting up straight- 5 shes so loose- 5 we're not supposed to- 5 time- 5 sofa- 5 or 6 time to go- 6
Good angsty album
This one gives punk vibes, I’m not super into most of it, though I do think it got better as it went on, I really disliked the first three songs but I really enjoyed “Alright” and “She’s So Loose”. I do think much of the record was kind of boring, its whole vibe is definitely not my main interest in music so that makes sense, but it had some pretty strong songs especially near the end.
90-talls stressa pritpoprock. Holder seg greit.
Some classic britpop with some well known tracks
Underrated band! Will def dive deeper into their catalogue
Not super impressive. Didn’t really get into it.
Not sure what to say. Was a solid Britpop album, both great, not bad 🤷♂️
It's good, catchy and fun. But one or two songs cut from it would of done wonders for overall listen. 3/5
The record is nice, but I didn't find it groundbreaking. I like the vibe, it's an interesting mix of alternative rock and pop punk. The first half of the record is very energetic, although it feels a bit monotonous. Besides "Alright", the first half doesn't have much variation in terms of sound. The second half mixes more moods, and I feel the record works the best when alternating between more laid-back tracks like "Time To Go", or even "She's So Loose" and the other high energy ones. The performances are pretty good, some nice drumming and solid guitar playing. The keyboard can be a bit much, like for example in "I'd Like To Know". The vocals are very fitting for the Britpop vibe, and the lyrics are good enough: nothing groundbreaking but not out of place either. I did find it remarkable that Supergrass were very young when they put this record out, yet they were great instrumentally and very cohesive with their sound. As for favourites, "Alright" is a classic, and deservedly so. But the one I liked the most was "She's So Loose". "Strange Ones" was also good and pretty catchy.
3.6
pretty good. great time period album, a fun nostalgic listen
A bit of a mixed bag, I feel like it packs both some of the best britpop songs I've heard so far (not made by Pulp) like Caught by the Fuzz, Lose It or Sitting up Straight, these songs pack so much energy and fun groves but also emotion which I enjoy a ton and wished more power pop-y stuff had this type of sound. But also has some whatever songs which I can just take or leave, mainly because they dip into the typical pop rock sound like Alright or Strange Ones. Still, not a bad record at all and one I fully expect to keep growing on me in the future
paar zeer goeie, paar flauwe, en soms wat overbodige gimmicks
Okay alt rock album, a lot of same sounding tracks.
Standard rock
Pretty basic rock
better than i expected it to be. actually enjoyed a lot of the songs
3.7, grimy good british
it was very nice!
that song was in everything for so long
Pretty good! I’d never heard of them and wasn’t expecting much, but this was fun to listen to.
3.1/alright goes hard but the rest of this is an acquired taste
Not a genre I’ve been too fond of but this one kindda clicked better for me , I can totally see myself in a arena bopping head and screaming along
Fun, upbeat album. ‘Alright’ is iconic. Bright and playful. Classic Brit sound. Gritty vocals.
Decent if not typical brit pop/rock.
Alternative rock with heavy keyboard
I like their second album "In It For The Money" much better, but that's probably a matter of taste, like everything else here.
It’s Alright ::wink emoji::
Smurfig punkpop, alright är onekligen en banger. Jag hade förmånen att se de live på Hultsfred det året. Om sanningen ska fram så ha inte albumet åldrats speciellt väl. Lite charmigt, men det är jobbigt att orka en hel lyssning
Kinda generic 90s alt rock Neither bad or good. Just there
Not bad. Like an earlier poor man's British Strokes. Caught By The Fuzz the prime cut in amongst the other meats.
Great energy, and Alright is a classic, but a few of the songs get repetitive while the rest are just a bit plain.
Overall I thought it was an okay album. Alright is the highlight, wasn't expecting to get something from the Clueless soundtrack this morning but it was a welcome surprise.
Alright is a classic and the rest is pretty good. A few songs that could be cut from this.
This is another case of between 3 and 4 for me
think special, but not painful. solid 3.
Fun! I like this vibe. Would have been a 3.5.
I had heard some of Supergrass later stuff but had never heard this album. This was good and helped highlight some of their growth musically as a group
sure
The first half of this album sounds like an uncovered lost album from MGMT. Strange Ones to Sitting Up Straight was a high point of the album, that stretch sounds like MGMT and the Pixies collabed. I also loved the harmonica on Time and basically the rest of the album. The first half was nothing special, but the second half was strong. This deserves somewhere between a 3 and 4, probably a 3.75. We'll round ... down.
Meh. I like alt rock. The bones here are all good. I just don't feel like anything here was super impressive.
Generally good 90's Brit Rock. I'd probably give this four stars. But then there's the song, "She's so Loose", and I'm not sure if it's slut shaming or not? So downgrading to 3 stars.
