Reviews (page 10 of 13)

I enjoyed it, not the biggest Dylan fan tho. But I can understand why people loved him back in his heyday.

Memorable line: 'Everybody must get stoned' I actually enjoyed this album, best album of the day so far.

Bob Dylan, often considered one of the most influential figures in the history of music, has a unique ability to convey powerful messages through his work. "Blonde on Blonde" is another testament to his lyrical brilliance and enduring impact on the world of music. As I delved into this iconic album, I couldn't help but appreciate the depth of his songwriting. Dylan's ability to capture the spirit of his era and convey thought-provoking narratives is truly impressive. It's clear why he's often referred to as a poet in addition to being a musician. However, despite the undeniable importance of Dylan's music, I found myself hitting a saturation point after the first few songs. The album's length and the somewhat repetitive musical style started to feel a bit overwhelming. While each song individually is a work of art, the cumulative effect left me yearning for a change of pace. "Blonde on Blonde" undoubtedly showcases Dylan's genius, but it might be an album best savored in smaller doses, allowing each track to shine on its own. Regardless, it's impossible to deny the profound influence of Bob Dylan on the music industry and his ability to convey vital messages through his songs.

What you listenin' to, Bobby?

Got dang it bobby

#10. Pretty good overall, but it suffers from entirely too many harmonica solos. 3/5: acceptable

Best Bob Dylan I've heard. That being said, that doesn't mean a lot to me. There were some songs that were actually catchy, and I'd want to listen to if Dylan wasn't signing. 3.25/5

Enjoyable bit ultimately a bit too long and the songs were too similar

i don't like his voice. kinda monotonous, but not that bad

Bob Dylan hasn't really done it for me in the past, but I did enjoy this album. Some familiar songs.

I get that he is a genius but except for a handful of songs I just don't really like his oeuvre

Blonde on Blonde: Proof that you don't need to be a good singer to be a great songwriter. Whatever you think of Dylan's singing, there's no denying that Blonde on Blonde is a classic album. It's an essential listen for any fan of music.

One hell of an album, absolutely love the the harmonica in these songs. Bob Dylan’s voice is a little tough to get though.

Pleasant listen, 3,5

As usual there's solid lyrics but I was not in love with the instrumentation. 3.5

~ = good + = very good * = already knew the song Pledging my Time ~ One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later) = + I Want You = ~ Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat = + Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) = ~ Temporary Like Achilles = ~ Fourth Time Around = ~ Obviously Five Believers = + Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands = ~

The story telling and instrumentals really stood out to me, especially in "Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again". No idea what it means, but I like it. Really the only song I could see in my rotation, didn't love the album as a whole - Dylan feels repetitive to a non-trained ear

Some good ones on here

this is my personal list, so it's one star. I don't care about lyrics in music, and that's really all there is to Bob Dylan.

I try every time to give Dylan a chance, however it's not my cup of tea. 3/5

Neis, ddim rili my teapot ond dal yn braf i wrando arno fo siwr

Interesting

Exceptional lyrics, nice songs. I really want to like Dylan, but I can't get past his vocal timbre and delivery.

you've heard one song, you've heard them all

3 for me

i liked this a lot during the first few songs, and then i got sick of bob dylans voice towards the middle and then i enjoyed it again towards the end because i forgot about his voice. its too long.

Might as well have been called "Bob Dylan sings the Blues". But still, this was a surprisingly OK listen, given that I usually can't get into Dylan at all. 3/5

this album is an impenetrable wall to me no matter how or how often i try i just cannot get through even like two songs of this. i’m waving a white flag.

I grew up on Dylan and this album is of course one of those things that played and formed my taste going forward. It’s a great album and one that I could listen to many times but I rarely go back these days.

Bit boring

makes me wanna smoke weed

Lots of different vibes in one album.

Syksyinen levy, Visions of Johanna on hieno.

His "singing" just gets so samey after a while. But the songs/lyrics are definitely strong.

Classic

Sounds like what I would call classic Dylan.

Whilst his voice doesn't exactly grate me, I do find it annoying and it does sour me on what is some quite beautiful song writing for me. Defs harsh but a 3.5 for me. Fav track: just like a woman

Never dived deep into Bobbo, but I know I like the pared back folk style a little better from him - I think his vocals fit better there. His voice is silly! Sorry but it is! Not a bad thing but there's definite silliness there. Anyway I quite liked this, his lyrical talent is undeniable, and I think that's the biggest strength of this record. Couple I'll be returning to for that reason. Three and a half. Fave track: One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later)

I’ve always thought that Dylan is at his best when someone else is performing his work, and this album did nothing to change that impression. Well written songs filtered through Dylan’s grating vocals and layered with distracting and unnecessary harmonica.

Some ok songs, a couple of cool sounding blues rock ditties and the rest sounds like sitting out the front of Mcdonalds at 2:30am on a Friday night listening to Jimmy the forklift driver who is pissed at a turnip shower me with a rain of half eaten quarter-pounder as he enthusiastically tells me about the best crypto currency he has just invested into.

I will admit two things simultaneously. I am not particularly a Dylan fan. That said, it's impossible to have a grounding in popular music, particularly folk and/or music from the 1960s, without picking up a few albums and having some favorite tunes. Most Dylan albums therefore end up feeling a bit like a collection of "greatest hits" with some filler added in for good measure. This is one of those. Several absolutely classic tunes, several deep cuts. Dylan's voice is strong on this recording. I was debating rating it three vs. four and ultimately chose three as I suspect I wouldn't listen to this record again under normal circumstances. (I'm a lot more likely to grab a live album.)

Better than I expected for Dylan. Not his best work but definitely nice and captures my attention. Stuck Inside...is a brilliant song.

Favorite song: Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat The albums style grew on my quite a bit, especially about midway through the album. His lyrics remind of nursery rhymes in a weird way

Was ok

Classic Dylan, not really my thing

aaaaaayyyyy wats all dis it sez blonde on blonde and insteda uh lotsa naked chicks doin' all i got was some maroon singing all about his feelins or somtin aayyyyyy

Oh man, I love me some Rainy Day Women #12 & 35. Never really understood the title, but the song exudes a fuck-it attitude and I'm kind of amazed it made it on wax. Out of tune horns with a drum stomp and lyrics that can be summed up as you're damned if you do, damned if you don't -- lets just get stoned. Five songs in now. Lots of harmonica (as expected) and some pretty song structures in general (especially I Want You). But I generally just don't find myself caring all that much. As this continues on, my position is unchanged. Maybe its just my mood at the moment, but I really don't care. Fine songs, but doesn't move me. I'm a soft 3 here.

It's Dylan. What else is there to say.

I used to really like Bob Dylan, but I also used to smoke a lot of pot.

I don't get it. Something slow and interesting. I don't remeber anything from all songs. Maybe my English is soooo bad.

I'm still not a big fan but I can respect the lyrics (mostly). I won't be seeking him out but I won't automatically shut him off in the future.

Didn’t love this. A few standout songs but overall I found it a bit rambling and frustrating to listen to.

Bob Dylan, the man who dared to be silly. At first his vocal inflections were annoying but very quickly they grew on me, I started to ~get~ what he was doing. I did just crush a yerbamate so I am slightly just buzzin off caffeine, a clearer minded take is soon to come.. So now it is 7 in the morning, and those vibes are not nearly as enjoyable. What was once silly fun is now annoying as shit. I am a man of serious taste and discretions, Bob dylan is NOT for me

I think bob Dylan has some good songs but I’ve never been the biggest fan of his. This was my fist time listening to a full album tho. I like unique vocal deliveries so that’s not my problem with his. I think my problem is the lack of strong melodies and sometimes boring compositions. I’ve found that I don’t have the attention span needed for actively listening to lyrics so I know some of his songwriting gets lost on me. Also some of the harmonica was kind of piercing on headphones so that was annoying but not his fault really. That being said, I did like this album. He’s obviously a good songwriter and there weren’t a lot of low points. I really liked the guitar tone on “stuck inside of mobile”. Blues sound on obviously five believers goes hard. High 3- low 4 for me. Leaning 3. Best: stuck inside of mobile, one of us must know, obviously five believers, sad eyed lady of the lowlands (too long but good) Tom asked the other day if I was ever gonna do a non-vocal MMM and todays the day— MMM: the harmonica melody in between the verses on obviously five believers.

Interesting, but Dylan's voice is getting tiresome to listen to. Much better as one-off songs.

Rainy Day Women and Just Like a Woman are classics, but for as accomplished and revered a song writer as Dylan, I wasn’t impressed with most of the tracks musicality. Lyrically it’s probably worthy of all awards possible, but his voice is repulsive and droning. 3.2/5

It’s classic Dylan, and I’m not mad at it. But I’m a fan of the hits. And his Christmas record, but that’s my own business.

Not on the level of Highway 61 or Bringing it all Back Home; there's the seed of the annoyingly nasal and rambly persona he eventually adopted in here. It's still decent, but not the same

I do like Bob Dylan but wouldn’t really want to listen to this album so much.

The first song or two I felt like this would be an album I would really enjoy, but every son from there on our was pretty much the same. I understand this would have been some wild music at the time but it just stuck to the same few progressions the whole way through

Some ok Dylan songs on here. Not my favorite album, but not terrible either. Solid 3. Lotta of Dylan singing like Dylan on this one

As I proved multiple times previously, I'm not a fan of Bob Dylan's music. He is a great lyricist, and he has a unique, groundbreaking style, but I just don't enjoy listening tocany of his albums. Blonde on Blonde is not an exception to this rule. I'm not a fan of this type of blues, and definitely I'm not a fan of Dylan's style of singing. That's it.

Bob was an accomplished singer songwriter, I'd say I liked the songs and not the singing.... and bit less harmonica wouldn't go amiss.

I mean, this is a classic album with classic songs. And I like it. But I really can’t stand Dylan’s voice 🤣

One of Dylan's classic albums, but lacking in the energy and flying by the seat of his pants feel in better albums like Highway 61 and Bringing It All Back Home. Cool that some members of the Band are on it, but not nearly as much fire as Bloomfield brought to the earlier albums. Memphis Blues and Pillbox Hat are highlights, and Sad Eyed Lady is one of his best and most underrated songs. Everybody must get stoned.

Great song writing, I would like to go back and listen again while looking at all of the lyrics. Not the greatest voice in my opinion, but overall a solid listen. Never listened to much Bob Dylan before, and this album is not strong enough to change that.

It's mostly nice. I've always been a bit lukewarm on Bob Dylan, not sure why

Why, just why so much harmonica?

Rigtig godt. Nogle sange lidt for lange - han kan godt lide gentagelser. Teksterne fortjener helt klart et genlyt herfra.

Fine songwriting, just ruined with his whining voice and harmonica nonsense

I know this in an influential record, and I like Dylan, I just can't listen to the whole thing straight.

No, no. Just no. The harmonica just isn't for me. Except for it, the album was fine it easily blended into the background. So easily that, to be fair, I could quickly forget that I listened to this album.

Harmonica was disturbing bluese parts that I was enjoying. Vocal was not great not terrible. Album was much better when I was focusing on combination of guitar and keyboard. Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat is defenetly the best part of that album. Temporary like Achilles is also not bad

"When I first saw that today's album was Bob Dylan, I had high hopes. Perhaps I should've been high, like Bob might've been, to turn those hopes into actual satisfaction." The Jennings Chronicle. "Each song had a similar melodic cadence to Dylan's meandering voice, often searching for a place to settle on, before being whisked away by the next verse." - The Buda Bugle

I feel like I'm sitting on a rocking chair out on my wrap around patio listening to my friends play some old blues, drinking beer and smoking some grass. I feel like I'm in the valley bar, drinking tequila and Modello, laughing, swaying and coasting on my high. This album is like a comfort food, it's hard to mess up french fries and pizza...I don't care what it sounds like or what he's saying, I care what it feels like in the background... and it feels like friends and home. Maybe it's because I'm just missing home and my homies.

This feels like "California summer beach day folk music". It's chill and easy. Harmonica and organ take up space and are sustained. I feel like Bob is really a beat poet who just happens to use music. I mean how many original words are in each one of these songs?! Big vocab. I guess he throws in blues too. I feel like his voice is constantly pushing and pulling. Not my fave for consecutive listening.

I Want You has kind of cool instrumentation. Stuck Inside … as well. The singing feels slightly disjointed from the rest of the arrangement? But that may be because his singing is so familiar even though I don’t know these specific songs. Is Just Like a Woman misogynist?

his voice really does get on my fucking tits after a while.

Deeply rooted and much easier to love than most of his work which offen hides behind giant walls of charisma. 3.3

It's difficult to rate this... If I do my best to tune out Dylan's voice and listen to the music behind it, it's one of the best albums I've ever heard. And then I remember, oh right, I hate Bob Dylan's voice so much. This one did make me finally face that he's an incredible musician though, and I'll be looking for a good cover album of this one. Maybe an instrumental one, if it's out there.

This doesn't blow me away with my current tastes but this is clearly very skilfully made and has some songs I like a lot.

This is the most tolerable Bob Dylan has been for me. I even kind of enjoyed a few songs. Gasp.

He learned how to hold long notes on the harmonica! But really, this is a better Dylan album with less of the vocal annoyance, and more of the blues.

Old sound, most of the songs are forgettable but some stick out musically. Great lyrics though!

This dudes a terrible singer lmaoo. “Spiders in my dreams, I think I love you” sounding ass

A much better Dylan album

its very bob Dylan possibly the most bob Dylan it wasn't bad but it felt really long

An album that as such a great reputation, but not one I particularly appreciated. He's not a great singer, obviously, and I'm not sure his songwriting is as good as it is often said to be. A couple of clever lines here and there, but sounds dated and boring, and I'm not sure it would be held in such high regard if it came out now.

I just can't take Dylan sincerely.

Not a fan. Couple good - classic - songs and a lot of typical Bob Dylan in between.

Great when it works ('Stuck Inside of Mobile', 'Sad-Eyed Lady'). Terrible when it doesn't ('Rainy Day Women', 'Leopard-Print'). A solid 2.5

i expected him to have a MUCH worse voice. overall pretty good

Nice album, not one I’ve listened to a lot.

It's Dylan

not a bad album imo

I prefer the blues-rock version of Dylan, but there was still too much harmonica folk happening here. It grinded my nerves so much, I had to listen in two parts. It was ok. I'll never fully get into Dylan.

The follow up to Highway 61 Revisited. Plugged in but traditionally folky for the most part. Vocally, this is in the sweet spot on the 'mumbling -> straining for a poo' continuum. Dylan can't hold a note, but appears to know it and accepts his limitations here, so and at least it's easy to hear the words. However, for a double album so frequently praised for its poetic lyrics, the words and themes of the album didn't strike me as particularly interesting. Rating: 3/5 Playlist track: Visions of Johanna Date listened: 19/11/22

lyrically p cool but soundwise quite repetitive. is a classic tho! one of us must know, just like a woman, rainy day still stand out ones. sad eyed lady was... long.

I don't get all the fuss, in all honesty

Ok singer songwriter album, not my favourite Bob Dylan but he knows how to write a song

A couple of the songs were recognizable. I wasn't completely annoyed the entire time listening to this album. It was better than some of his other ones. I will round up but it was a close call.

Since great songs and some not so great

Bob Dylan double album. This will test your tolerance for his voice. There was never any doubt that Dylan is a fantastic songwriter. It's incredible. They're so unique and memorable. The best part is I can stand his voice on this one. I wish I had more thoughtful things to say but I have a cold. This is good, check it out.

Blonde on Blonde is the 7th album by American singer-songwriter Bob Dylan and it's a folk rock double album. It is considered one of the finest folk rock albums of all time, and it has been certified double platinum, as well as being inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1999. This album was a joy to listen to and I can see why it's received universal acclaim. Bob Dylan makes some great music and this may be his best album. However, folk rock has never really been my thing since I feel it can be a bit slow at times, and for that reason, I can't rate this album as highly.

Bob Dylan was out-dylaning himself

God, what a fantastic poet. Same cant be said for his singing

Better Dylan than most albums, but still not super interesting.

I was pleasantly suprised by the varied instrumentation, especially the guitar and organ work. Still, Dylan is Dylan, and his lyrics are DUMB sometimes. 7/10

Can’t get past his voice.

Identifying Dylan : It’s Dylan

All Bob Dylan sounds more or less exactly the same to me. It's all fine, but I think you have to be a boomer to pop a tent over it

The “everybody must get stoned” song is called “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35!?” It’s probably my favorite Bob Dylan song, and I apparently would have had a bit of trouble finding it on my own. Who are these women? Are they the ones doing the stoning? And what about Rainy Day Women #1-11 and 13-34? What do they have to say about all this rock throwing? Sometimes I like the way Dylan uses his voice. And sometimes I can’t stand it. He’s a great songwriter, both lyrically and musically, but the vocals are sometimes a parody of themselves. Weird to make a serious career out of a voice gimmick that tries to sound like a drunk karaoke singer.

Not a massive Dylan fan. I saw him at Glastonbury '98 and commented loudly that "He's not that good live". Oh, the looks I got from the Dylan acolytes. It was like a scene from Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. But this, this I enjoyed.

I'll never understand the love or acclaim for Bob Dylan. This is maybe the fifth Dylan album on this list I've endured. It's fine. Musically, I enjoy this more than the others, but Bob Dylan is still providing the vocals, unfortunately.

Not a big fan of some of the early songs, but the farther I got into the album the more I enhpyed it

I appreciate the fact that the harmonica isn't on EVERY song, Bob you fucking crusty-lipped dickhead. This is a hard album to rate, because I have to take many factors into consideration, both good and bad. The singing, the lyrics, the rusty ass harmonica, the headache I had once the album ended (something about causation and correlation, no clue) and also Bob's magnificent hair. I usually really don't like folk rock, but songs like "Visions of Johanna", "Stuck Inside Of Mobile" and "Just Like A Woman" tickle me fancy. On the other hand, there's also shit like "Pledging My Time", which is the world's first noise rock song. Imitating the sound of the white bellbird usually does not make for good music, Robert.

Interesting lyrics and good band but just can’t stand his voice and harmonica playing

Don't let the absolutely horrible album cover deceive you, the music here is prime Dylan, that is to say, top notch Americana folk-rock. Considering there are 7 total Bob Dylan albums in this book, the fairest way to rate this, is relative to all of the other Dylan albums. Which makes it a solid, middle of the road 3. Best song; Memphis Blues.

Bob Dylan just has one of those voices where it works for some songs and it doesn't for others. It worked for like half the album.

It was a great album , just not my type of music.

Not bad. Favorite songs were Just like a Woman and Rainy Day Women.

Very good album by bob dylan. This album has a lot of folk and various other instrumental sounds that make this a well produced album. He does a good job as always lyrically with rhyming and telling anecdotes via song. Felt like this album didn’t have any major hits but it’s a great example of a consistent album. 7.5/10

5/14, 36%

Singing style/voice grating to me.

Filled with folk/blues songs. I liked some of these songs, but would this be an album that I need in my collection? No....

probably just wasn't in the mood for Bob this day

I appreciate the songwriting and the musicianship, but I can't get over Dylan's singing style. The annunciation just ruins it for me, and I really can't take him serious. These would be better received by me if someone else sang it.

I appreciate Bob Dylan as an artist but his style has never really connected me. As an artist I appreciate what he was doing but to me it felt like he was trying to not try. If I was living in NYC in 1960 my perception would be different.

Obviously he invented a lot of ideas around lyrics, so a lot of credit due. Haven't listened to this before and the only songs I knew were Rainy Day Women (bizarre title) and Just Like a Women. Band is blues influenced/folk rock with prominent keys. Similar arrangements on most songs. Some songs much better than others IMO. I am not a fan of his singing. Like the rhythm of the delivery on some songs though. A lot of the music sounds a bit disconnected, more like an accompaniment than a coherent song, and rather samey. Don't like the harmonica. I don't think I'll ever want to listen to a whole album of this. Fourth Time Around sounds like Norwegian Wood. Probably on purpose - apparently the Beatles song was first.

Undeniably classic and genre defining, it is still hard for me to get into unfortunately.

I get that Dylan is an icon and a master storyteller. But his voice is like a cheese grater on my nerves.

Ok, so I know he's a lyrical genius, but as someone who notices vocals first and foremost, Bob Dylan is not my favorite. Sorry, I know. I KNOWWW. I will say, I like the use of organs for a gospel sound in "One of Us Must Know" to kind of break away from the same blues/harmonica combo of many of the other tracks. And "Rainy Day Women" is a fun song overall, with the marching band feeling and tongue-in-cheek topic.

Some of these songs sounded like some of Bob's other songs. If you like it you like it I guess. It made for a low key drive to work.

Bob Dylan. Siempre bueno, pero nada espectacular

Suppose this is the Bob Dylan experience. Loved a few of the songs and found a few covers that were awesome as well. Loved “I want you” and “stuck inside mobile” but still didn’t necessarily find the whole thing to be the most listenable. Seems about right!

This is the first "classic" album on this generator so far I didn't enjoy too well. Half I enjoyed a lot, the other I couldn't stand. It may be due to the fact I don't like Bob Dylan's rock n roll and blues material and that dominates at least half of this. Also his voice can get incredibly annoying during those songs. Thank goodness Blonde on Blonde has his more slow, calm and soothing folk acoustic songs to balance it out. Favourite songs were Visions of Johanna, Just Like A Woman, I Want You, Fourth Time Around and Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands.

Its a sad testament to the state of modern music that Dylans voice just would not past muster if he were starting out today. Autotune and access to better resources would have minimized his career or damaged the "authenticity" of his music.

Lots of funny words and sentences.

Every song sounds like dylan. Almost every song with the same type of singing, harmonica. Good lyrics.

Harmonica.

Very Bob Dylan , but that’s not always the best since I am not the biggest fan

I'm always game for some vintage Dylan. This one is one of his greats, and I'm not sure I'd heard it all the way through. Some great tracks, especially "Visions of Johanna," but overall it didn't grab me like Highway 61 Revisited or (my personal favorite) The Times They Are A-Changing. Plenty on here that I don't feel I want or need to revisit. Still, a decent Dylan album is quite good. Favorite tracks: Visions of Johanna, One of Us Must Know, Stuck Inside of Mobile, Leopard Skin Pill-Box Hat. Album art: Iconic for sure, I'd recognize this one a mile out. Slightly blurry Bob, perhaps a distant ancestor to Earl Sweatshirt's Some Rap Songs cover? 3.5/5

Genre: Folk Rock 3/5 My second Bob Dylan album of the book, and guess what: it's fuckin' Bob Dylan. Unlike Freewheelin' Bob Dylan, a much more "folk" album than this one here, and the other Bob Dylan album I've listened to for this exercise, he makes the decision to use session musicians here. The result doesn't make the music much better in my opinion, but it certainly gave him more freedom to record a whole bunch of new shit. We get drums, organs, pianos, oh my! It certainly makes these songs have a lot more oomph and energy, but it's Bob Dylan. It doesn't go beyond that. Blonde on Blonde is a double album, 75 minutes of what could be mistaken as the same song for the wide majority of its length. I illustrated this in the last album's review, this guy is a phony, and is not actually a poor man singin' the blues. He's the ultimate canned version of it, and it's amazing to watch how some white people eat his shit up. I've heard rock albums that sound like this made by guys like Bo Diddley 8 years before this was made, and I don't witness the same shock and awe as with albums such as these. Does that make this album bad? No, not necessarily. Does it mean that Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat is a song worthy of my time? No. I'm sure the Dylanites eat this shit up with just as much relish as any of his other albums, but to me, this is milquetoast folk pop at its milquetoastiest. And his voice sucks.

Parts of this I love, like when it gets bluesy on ‘Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat’, or full New Orleans on ‘Rainy Day Women #12 & 35’. ‘Obviously Five Believers’ is another highlight as is ‘Visions of Johanna’. Ultimately though, a double album of Dylan is a bit much to take in over a single sitting for my ears as his voice grates after a while, and this makes the album feel much longer than it actually is.

I just like him so much better as a lyricist and songwriter than performer

Bit bored of Bob these days.

I like some Bob Dylan from time to time, but I prefer to hear individual songs over entire albums. Although not my favorite Dylan record, it is certainly one of his best.

I've always felt Bob Dylan is best as a poet, sometimes his voice just grates on my nerves. But I have respect & there are some fine tunes on here, & enjoy the harmonica. Sidenote we got this album on the day it was announced Bob sold master rights to his recorded catalog to Sony. It's a Bob Dylan kind of day.

It just sounds like good folk music. So it's good.

Has some classic songs but some do drag on a bit too long. It’s raw, live and has that classic Dylan feel.

Te oude muziek

it wasn't bad but i dont think id ever listen to it again when i could just listen to leonard cohen instead

these are great songs that i would like a lot better if someone else was singing them. i prefer the slower cuts to the more blues-y ones, the orchestrations and arrangements are beautiful on those. but to be fair a lot of my favorite bands have singers whose voices i once couldnt stand, so maybe i just need to give bob more time...

Tunnistettavaa Bobia

First Dylan album I’ve ever listened too. Still not a fan of his voice but the sound is iconic. Hard to separate a lifetime of his music being used as a set piece in movies from just enjoying it on its own.

Chill folksy

Some of Dylans' biggest songs on this one.

Forlorn tone (with some exceptions) and nice harmonica, but I found myself losing interest before the end of most songs. "Just like a Woman" is the main standout

I liked the harmonica. This is good background music. The singing is meh for me.

Man a lot of this I like... but im starting to understand Fred

Not my style nice to recognize some songs

Surprisingly good. Loses a star as Dylans drunk at a wedding vocal style gets on your tits after a bit.

Nomás no le encuentro por dónde,

Rock folk.

Buen disco. Interesante

Could not finish the whole thing, every song was too samey

This is a lot of Bob Dylan

Beetje vreemde muziek. Ik vind het liedje "I Want You" best leuk. Steekt er wel bovenuit. Verder zijn de liedjes wisselvallig van kwaliteit. ***

3/5 sadly no. I'd like to, but no.

Dylan is a mixed bag to me. There are select works when I think his monotonous tone, offbeat cadence, and bluesy instrumentals really work to produce some of the best folk-rock songs in history. In other songs, I find these elements either lacking or too harsh, and it really puts me off. This album perfectly reflects that sentiment. When it hits it stride, like in the run of Visions of Johanna --> One of Us Must Know (Sooner or Later) --> I Want You --> Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again. It feels REALLY good and like this record is shaping up to be a masterpiece. His masterful writing, the bluesy instrumentation, and even some effortful singing comes together to make a album that really is more than the sum of its parts. There are just a few harsh tracks on this record, like Rainy Day, Plenty of Time, and Leopard-Skin Pill-Box Hat that hold it back, not because they don't fit with the product as a whole, but they usually lack a component that elevates it. In those songs, I feel like Dylan tries to overcompensate with either harsh harmonica tones, extra dry and drawn out notes, or silly phrasing. Overall, I like this record and some select songs, but there are a few too many tracks that wouldn't have me consider this one of the best albums ever made. I'm not enticed to listen to the whole project front to back.

Some great ones, fun to listen to, but pretty inconsistent. Rainy Day Women is the best.

Without ever listening to Bob Dylan before, but also being alive, this album just sounded like what I expected Bob Dylan to sound like. It wasn't bad at any part, but it also didn't make me want to listen to it again.

So long

decent dylan album, i want you is its only 'hit' but the rest is consistently dylan so you know what to expect

Bob Dylan to me is like salt. Too much and things are ruined. 2.5

Volgens mij niet zijn beste album

holy crap. this album has serious highs and lows. i cannot stand the first two songs, "most likely..." and "obviously fine" ... it seems like they are cliches of bad blues music, but visions of Johanna and stuck inside are excellent. there's a lot to digest, but credit on the variety.

Classic Bob Dylan, harmonica solo baby, 7/10

7/10 Not my genre, still good

Fun time a harmonic slaps

Pretty good voice still grates a bit

It's said that this album is very good quality, sound-wise. So I guess it's essential to have it as an LP instead of on Spotify. It is very good quality, I just don't dig the harmonica. It will never sound like good quality

Not a big fan of bob dylan. Cant relate his lyrics, and their chord progression is not yer my style.

me gustó

"EEEEEEEEEVERYBODY must get STONED!" A couple classic bangers, overall not my favorite Dylan record.

I thought I really liked Bob Dylan, and I do, but his voice kind of grated on me today during the longer songs. Although it did remind me of my parents too which was nice.

I was wrong about bob. Not too bad. Thus album not as good as blood on the tracks, still 3 stars

quintessential cool-grandparent-core

Firmly in the 3.5 territory. There's way better Dylan but there's also a lot worse.

pretty interesting songs and songwriting

Needs more harmonica

Nice enough but hes not a favorite of mine and this goes on forever. 3/5

Not his strongest but ok

Con buena voz, excelentes melodías y letras acordes.

Classic Dylan - the bourgeois counter culture? Highly regarded and politically admirable, but over rated in my opinion.

Listened to the first 4 songs. Didn't grab me.

Really enjoy this style of singing

Honestly I expected more from Dylan, I thought he was more of a hippy and not a blues man but I guess I was wrong

Musically, I enjoyed the album. His voice however, continues to be a major reason why I don't regularly listen to his work.

Mumbly boi

Bra, men Bob blir lite gnällig på rösten :)

3.5 | Nunca me he adentrado mucho en Bob Dylan.

Not his best album for me, but what’s not to like

If you like harmonica... this is the album for you. Visions of Johanna had a good energy.

I have not listened to I think any Bob Dylan album before. Of course I know this well known artist and I like several of his famous songs. I enjoyed listening to this album.

The first Dylan album I've ever listened to all the way through.

Bob Dylan being Bob Dylan

Gaita...

boring

Was pretty alright. I would say it's closer to spoken poetry than a song. Needs a focused listen.

First McCartney and now Dylan? The dad jams are strong this week. I love how this record has an out-of-focus picture of him. The songs are fine, albeit a touch misogynistic at times, though it all starts to sound the same after a while...

Really good album just not my favourite

My favorite Dylan album I’ve listened to, certainly the most “musical” one as well

Fairly good folk rock album, the vocals are kinda wack but the instrumentals are pretty good, if you can deal with Bob Dylan's vocals you'll like this album

Okayish. I think I liked the songs on this more when I was a teenager. Now, they just remind me of bowls smoked and time wasted.

All rather samey and ended up finding his intonations annoying. He almost sounds like a caricature of himself.

More Bob Dylan Really? I feel like we’ve had like 4 already.

Too much bob Dylan, his other albums are better

Bowie said it best, he has a voice like sand and glue

im sorry to this man but brad sherwood on whose line really had him dead to rights 💀

I’m not old enough to have been there at the time. Any time I hear Bob Dylan, the music seems good, but then he sings and it sounds like a bit, like a Saturday Night Live skit, and I just can’t take it seriously.

Meh 2.2

I liked it but it felt very samey

I like early Dylan when he did folk music, but this wasn't my favorite. Visions of Johanna was definitely the standout track.

I can defend some Dylan, this is too Dylan for me

This all sounds so similar that it kind of drags on. It started strong but kind of felt like a slog to get through.

naja, nicht meins

his voice is absolutely grating to sit and listen to. It's a mix between talk singing and cursive.

The harmonica and i have beef now. 3/10

Matt: he’s mewing on the cover. Rose: I wish he would lighten up on the harmonica. Better than highway 61 though.

This album wasn't for me. I did like the harmonica playing on some songs.

Bob Dylan kuulosti taatulta Bobby-sanilta.

This album made me like Bob Dylan less. At the end I found him almost insufferable.

Not for me

its ok but can he put the damn harmonica down lowkey did not get all the way through this album sorry

I thought I hadn't heard this album before. I immediately realised I had. It was played at full blast at 3am by a bunch of Swedes that I had the misfortune to be pitched next to on a festival campsite. As Dylan albums go, it's actually decent but one start subtracted for the festival Swedes.

I've always believed that some of the best songs are written by Bob Dylan and performed by others. This album didn't change my mind on that. He just is miserable to listen to.

God he’s annoying

I got this on a day that I had a lengthy drive. Which was okay because this is a long-assed album and the drive gave me time to listen to it; on the other hand this album is tedious and only reinforces how long it is. I understand that Blonde On Blonde is widely considered one of these all time great albums, and Dylan is widely considered one of the all time great singer-songwriters, but I just don’t get it. I suppose if I imagine myself hearing this in 1966 I can intellectually grasp the appeal of this rambling, free associating folk(-y) singer because I can’t think of anything preceding Dylan that does the same kind of thing. And maybe it speaks of his influence, how much he changed the trajectory of music, but it just doesn’t feel revolutionary at all in 2026. Sixty years is a long time though, probably more reasonable to think this is a moldy old record than something that still retains some of the shock of the new. Mostly though, while listening to the nearly hour and a quarter running length of this album, I thought about how much I hate how this album sounds. His vocals, the harmonica, the organ, the guitar, even the drums, all seem to sit around the same frequency range, and it’s just way to long to listen to listen to something with no sonic range. It’s just fucking boring.

Not interested

i HATE harmonica

"а вЫ тОже вОт так вОт рАзговАриваете". Я не выкупаю прикола, мерзкий вокал, примитивный текст, такой же инструментал с бесящей губной гармошкой. 2/5

I appreciate Bob's songwriting skill but cannot get past his awful vocal qualities.

His singing voice is annoying, but there’s about two songs I fw. Don’t agree that it needs to be on the list tho

It is utterly boring, imo, although I do respect his work, but beside meaningful texts (to him personally), I find his voice awfully flat and it's like songs are all the same, continuation of one to another; the only positive side is the harmonica, to be honest :)

I like bob dylan but not this album so much

so much harmonica I don't like it. Visions of Johanna is fun, the harmonica isn't driving me insane in this one. Ok the harmonica is kinda growing on me. I Want You without Dylan's vocals sounds like some shit you'd hear in a kid's dental ad. Fourth Time Around is the only standout that I could find for a while, because the guitar pairs really nicely with his voice. It's kinda like the Beatles to me. Altogether, solid album, just not my thing. I don't like the harmonica all that much, I could definitely enjoy the album more if the harmonica was more subtle. Current rating: 2/5

Pre Listen: Despite knowing how influential Bob Dylan is, and despite my affinity for music out of the 60's and 70's, I've never really given any of Bob's album work a good thorough listen. I'm looking forward to giving it a try, resultingly my expectations are higher than usual. Notable Tracks: Stuck Inside of Mobile with the Memphis Blues Again - Just like the title, this song goes on for wayyyyy too long. Easily my least favorite on song on the album. It's repetitive in a bad way. Fourth Time Around - Reminded me of the Beatles' Norwegian Wood. Would be a great track and playlist worthy if it didn't go on for too long. Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands - My favorite track on the album, good enough that I'm adding it to my playlist. The piano is a nice touch. It's repetitive in a good way. Post Listen: What an interesting album. I had a lot of comments for a lot of tracks I felt were notable, but they all essentially boiled down to a few key feelings I had about the album; Bob Dylan's lengthy drawn-our pronunciation of words, intentionally slurred lyrics, random harmonica breaks, and jumbled verses works in small doses, but becomes grating after back-to-back tracks. The actual content of the lyrics, especially in his songs relating to women or relationships, make him come off as a creep. Whether that's intentional or not I'm uncertain, but it's unpleasant regardless. That being said I did enjoy a few of the songs, but I won't be listening to this album in it's entirety again. It's too long and Bob got on my nerves after the 4th or so song. I give it a 2/5.

kinda had to turn off after a couple tracks idk bob dylan is a 1-3 track listen then turn off kinda guy for me

Bob and I are not friends and will never be friends unless I hear him actually hit whatever note he’s attempting to sing. Credit where it’s due for his poetic prowess, but I have no interest in hearing his voice or harmonica at this point.

Too much classic Bob. I tried listening in the car. Big mistake.

So much shrill harmonica. So much bad singing. I'm out.

This is where every impression of Bob Dylan's singing voice comes from. Wasn't the best, but I'm probably just burnt out on Dylan albums on this list.

I have you given my thoughts about Bob Dylan in other reviews. What I want to know is why this album is so highly regarded? It doesn't seem like anything special of his. There's no hit songs on it. His other albums have just as deep of meaning. It's too long. I feel like I must be missing something.

Okay lyrics, but I’m afraid this is as far as this album’s redeeming qualities go. Barely any singing, he just rambles with music on the background. Goddamn harmonica is so annoying. This is not a 1 only because I have respect for Bob Dylan.

Mumble, mumble, mumble - harmonica. Mumble, mumble, mumble - harmonica. Mumble, mumble, mumble - harmonica.

Sorry this sucks, Dr Seuss level rhyming every song with the same Dylan bob at the end of every sentence, annoying.

Not really my thing

Bob Dylan is an astonishing artist: all the covers of his songs I've heard seem better than the originals to me. Dylan's lyrics are paramount, with the music coming second. But firstly, even native speakers don't always understand the lyrics, and secondly, are we listening to music here? It's incredibly monotonous: a semi-acoustic verse, a chorus, a harmonica solo, and we repeat. Blonde on Blonde is considered Dylan's best album (the more devout consider it one of the best albums of all time). Why? How does it differ from his other works? Nothing, really, except that it's a double album. And I'd give it a three if it weren't for the last song, which features the artist reading his poem for eleven minutes and then fading out. Now let's wait for the ∞-minute AI version, where Dylan's nasal voice simply combines all the existing words.

Actually pretty fun music behind him! However… OH MY GOD WHY DOES HE DO THAT WITH HIS VOICE??? JUST HAVE NORMAL INFLECTIONS ON YOUR VOICE AND I WOULD NOT HATE YOU!!!

mid bob

erittäin keskinkertainen bob dylan albumi

Bob kinda sucks tbh

Listening to harmonica is as pleasing as listening to a chalk scratching over blackboard. Maybe the lyrics are worth listening, although I CAN'T HEAR THEM OVER THIS DEVILISH TOOL

Talented songwriter. Just can't handle the voice, sing as if he has a cold

The songs themselves are fine - I didn't even mind the harmonica that much - but the eccentricities of Dylan's voice were a real killer for me. It started to feel like he was singing like that just to annoy me personally.

yeah i don't think I'm a bob dylan fan and that's totally okay. i just can't seem to get into it that much. it really felt like the songs had too many verses i'm not gonna lie. there's some good instrumentation on there but that damn harmonica pained me. solid 2.

Not my thing
