This guy's voice is the worst
I love psych rock but I definitely do not like the electric jug.
This was a nostalgia trip for sure.
Not a huge fan of old jazz but this stuff ripped.
Why exactly is this on this list. Boring and unremarkable
Really wish this was on Spotify but I totally get it. I would have saved every single track.
Never really listened to Neil Young outside of CSNY and his hits, but goddam this is good album.
Saved 5/8 songs.
Some great fuzzy, psychedelia. Couple of tracks just didn't do it for me.
OK, I like electronic music but this is just soulless garbage. I make an effort on almost every album on this list but I could not finish this. It's unbearably boring, repetitive, unimaginative...
Mostly uninteresting background music. Saved 3 tracks and Broken Heart was beautiful and sad.
My brother introduced me to this album when I was 13 or 14 years old. It's been a while since I've listened to the whole thing. It holds up!
Unlike anything else out there. Except for Kid A. Which is also a 5
Couldn't wait for this one to end
This album reminds me of the summer after junior and senior year of high school. Cruising around in my buddy Mike's Durango and playing disc golf.
Anybody that doesn't crank up Long Time to top volume and play air drums and/or guitar has no soul.
A couple of classics with a bunch of filler.
Couldn't finish. Singer is just awful
This gets 3 stars for purely nostalgic value. This was my first CD that had swear words in it and I blasted this in my portable CD player on family vacations. It definitely does not hold up listening with "adult ears" but still holds a special palace in my musical history.
This was a bit of a struggle. Very 90s and very long.
I see Zep, I give 5 stars
72 minutes of Bob Dylan might be a little too much for a single sitting...
Instrumentally this album is great. The lyrics are so damn corny and preachy.
Never realized how truly terrible Bon Jovi's voice is. This is only earning 3 starts because of the sweet talking guitar in Livin' on a Prayer
I don't know if it's just how much this was/is overplayed, but this was a chore to get through. I really notice all the annoying vocal flourishes that everyone since has tried to copy, like the weird word pronunciations.
I like Metallica but a lot of these songs just don't mesh with the symphony.
Did not like this as much as I remember. Which is a little bit sad...
I like the Talking Heads and Psycho Killer is a fantastic song, but the rest of the tracks on this album were underwhelming...
Musically I love this. But the "singing" just grates across an entire album
First time listening to Bjork. Maybe my last time?
It is hard to think of a worse voice to listen to
Not bad but the lead singer's voice really drags this whole thing down.
This gets 4 stars based purely on Boogie On Reggae Woman
This would have been a 5 if dude wasn't a nazi now.
I neither liked nor disliked any of these songs.
I put this one off for two months. Probably could have used at least another two.
One of the best country albums I've ever heard!
2 Stars
Great voice but soulless music
Not terrible but I really dislike when her voice hits that upper register. And she does that a lot.
This one's a tough one. The music itself is amazing but man, Geddy Lee's voice is grating across an entire album.
Couple of just awful albums in a row. At least I get why this one is here.
I don't think this is for me.
This is some corny shit. 3 stars
I like a select few B-52 songs. Rock Lobster is one of them. Everything else on this album is absolutely grating vocal-wise.
Yeah, this was pretty painful
It's very pretty album. Just not something I would normally return to.
As with all Bob Dylan I've come across on this list, I understand that cultural and historical importance of this music. I don't mind listening to the occasional Bob Dylan song here and there. But the incessant harmonica across an entire album becomes unbearable.
Jesus, this is fucking terrible.
This does not belong on this list. It's Bowie so I was tempted to give it a 3 but this was a slog.
Great voice, solid classics.
Didn't really need multiple albums from this group but here we are...
OK, I liked some of these songs. I like that this suggestion was from a band I had not previously heard of or listened to. My only gripe is the over-prevalence of this specific genre. Lots of 60s, 70s, 80s UK rock. Maybe replace those with some Australian psych rock? King Gizzard? Tame Impala? The Osees? I just fill there are a lot of genres that are just missing and instead we get 500 albums similar to this...
Much less worse than anticipated. Holy shit is that American Pie cover the absolute worst thing I've heard in a long time.
Great musicians, great producers, great rappers and overall just a super fun group. Some absolutely classics on here and some solid instrumentals sprinkled throughout. Super eclectic.
My first Frank Ocean experience. Very enjoyable, very chill.
I always say that I don't consider myself a fan of country music. These sorts of albums are starting to change my mind. I guess I need to qualify it and say that I'm not a fan of "bro country" or "country pop."
Not terrible. Consider this a strong 3
Weird inclusion in this list...
Unremarkable. Could have been better albums here.
This was a gem. Hadn't listened to any of these songs before.
A little too noodly for me but it's still Jimi...
A bit repetitive but too cool not to give at least 4
The songs I knew before listening are solid. Everything else was pretentious, boring, sleepy...
Beautiful album but drags in certain areas.
A little too corny for me
Music is a 4 but that singing is a 2.
I like Bowie but there's too much Bowie in this list.
I think this would get even better with subsequent listens. Surprised me.
I understand why this album is important. I understand why people dig it. It's just not for me and, as a white guy in his 40s, I'm pretty sure it's not meant to be.
I feel like this is what lead to Meaghan Trainor. 2 stars
Meh. Just kinda soulless. Knights of Cedonia brought back fond Guitar Hero memories though so 3 stars.
Extra star for being mercifully short. Otherwise this was trash
Spent most of the album waiting for it to end. But there was always another song.
A little too Morrissey for me...
Probably need to give this another listen at some point as I was distracted throughout. Heard some Billy Corgan in there, some Oasis, some Bowie. I'll give it a 4 for now.
Atmospheric. Annoying. Ambient. Loooong.
Almost gave this a 2 due to some decent music here and there. But this really deserved the 1
I like some shoegaze. I don't really like this.
Bounced from B-Side Bowie to Bob Dylan with a couple of actually decent songs thrown in.
Almost a 5. Last 2 songs were comparatively weak
Docking multiple stars due to being the template for Meaghan Trainor. It's pronounced "curb" not "coyarb"
I liked about half these songs but I'm gonna go ahead and give an extra star for not being some obscure Britpop or shitty British electronic garbage.
OK ba k ground music. Very 90s feel to it. Really hated some songs and others were groovy.
This is such a tough one to rank. The nostalgia factor is super high with this one. Adolescent me loved this. I still really enjoy the music side of this album. But I just cannot handle Anthony Kiedis creepy ass lyrics and weird affectations throughout. Goddam Flea though. Amazing bass.
Another nostalgia trip here. I loved this double album in my teenage angst years. I feel like some songs are definitely dated but their hits hold up. Some weird lyrics looking back...
This was a bit of a slog.
First full album from The Cure. Very solid. Liked it a lot more than anticipated.
Hit or miss throughout. Sometimes it was really annoying.
Entirely too many Elvis Costello albums in this list. Every one of them sound alike so could have gone with just one...
I feel like this is one of those albums that would get better with repeated listens. Interesting guitar work, strange voice. I appreciate the uniqueness here.
Docking multiple stars for extreme pretentiousness, extreme boredom and lack of anything cool.
This is a tough one. Really cool music. Interesting voice. Raunchy ass lyrics.
I feel like this is not the most representative work from Hooker to have on the list. That does not mean I'm surprised it's on here.
I don't remember having listened to Pixies at all before. So this was unexpectedly fantastic. Killer bass, drums, guitar throughout. Broad range of musical styles. Absurd lyrics delivered absurdly. Loved nearly everything about this. One of the few actual gems that came out of this often laborious project so far.
What is this nonsense? Why is this on here?
Last song goes a bit off the rails but great album!
Another surprise 5 star. This was funky and jammy
Read their pretentious Spotify profile and try to give this more than a 3
One of the best "recent" rock bands. Kinda weird that this made the list over R Rated, Like Clockwork and Songs for the Deaf though. Those are much better albums.
Surprised at the low ratings. One of the best live albums ever with some of the greatest guitarists ever. 5 stars. Easy
Great album. Don't know how these guys haven't been on my radar.
I was a freshmen in high school in Pontiac, MI when this came out. Gtfoh if you think I'm not giving this a 5.
Mostly weak rhymes over annoying ass beats. Still, I get why people dig it and appreciate that it's not another no name British punk or Electronica album.
Probably in the minority here but I really don't like Debbie Harry's voice. It has a weird Kermit quality that I find off putting. Some of the music is groovy though.
I checked how much listening time I had remaining on this album multiple times. It was always another fucking hour. This is so so SOOOO bad
I get the importance of this album but it's a hard listen.
Imagine listening to Smooth by Rob Thomas and Carlos Santana for 50 minutes.
Liked this more than I should have
Really enjoyed this one. Should probably give their other album another shot...
More British punk, like this list doesn't have enough
I really enjoyed this one. Much more than their other offering on this list.
The unnecessary runs always make me laugh
I did not like her album Dry but this one fucking rocked.
Not a huge fan of the singing but the underlying beats are excellent.
This was way too long and very outdated.
This one was odd. Sounded like ACDC, Beatles, Zeppelin, and some atrocious vocals here and there. Still some of these songs were solid.
I fell asleep listening to this. I remember it being very pleasant. 4 stars for that
Very samey. Couple of classics here though
Was going to give this a 4 but this is like the godfather a bunch of the jamgrass stuff that I love (yonder mountain, greensky)
This album made me feel nothing at all. Generic. Trite. Milquetoast. Worst of all, boring.
Probably won't come back to this one but she has a beautiful voice and she was fucked over for being right about the church.
How little things have changed
I don't think I really "get" Devo...
This was funky and fun as hell.
I understand why this album is on this list. But you can tell most of the 4 and 5 star reviewers enjoy the smell of their own farts.
I really liked their Suburbs album. This one just felt very vanilla comparatively.
Love me some zappa but this was not good
So many classics. Even the deep cuts are bad ass.
It's OK... Not sure why 8ts included on this list though
OK, the lyrics are hilariously bad. But sit back and listen to those fucking shredding guitar riffs. Also, I appreciate that you can actually hear the bass.
Definitely one of the albums on this list
One of the worst things I've had to endure.
Weird mix of Renaissance Fair garbage and some actually solid folks jams here and there.
Lou Reed with none of the charisma.
This got old a out halfway through.
Hey, this list has come through with a solid recommendation that I'd never heard before instead of yet another garbage British post punk ass music?
One of the greatest albums of all time
Do people actually listen to this shit when it's not St. Patty's day? You get a pass if you're actually Irish.
Intro is awesome. Then the whole album falls off a cliff into a sea of boring.
I went back and forth between 2 and 3 stars on this. At the end of the day I didn't like any of these songs on Spotify and would never come back to this album based on the "singer" alone. Just a terrible shame since the music is actually pretty decent.
Very poorly mixed average 90s grunge
I get what they're doing here. But no
Dumb, face melting heavy metal. 5 stars
Music is a solid 4. But the vocals just kill any vibe. Curse my western ears for that I guess but it just doesn't sound good.
Looks at this smarmy twat. Get over yourself.
Won't listen again. 3 stars for that. Another star for being righteous.
A generous 3. Just an awful voice
My all time favorite Morrissey album. 3 stars
I will never understand how so many people consider Oasis to be one of the greatest bands. An hour of this monotonous droning is a bit much.
Thisiat has taught me that I rwally like Neil Young. Not sure how to feel about that...
Couple of solid songs to start, then just rambles for the rest of the album.
I was torn between a 4 and 5 but I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this. One of the few PLEASANT surprises on this list. Mostly I've been surprised at how bad some of these entries are.
Much better than the reviews suggested. Music was funky and tight. Just a bit too silly.
Took a few songs to grow on me but this album was very good
Lengthy but great music to have on in the background
Ozzy one of the GOATs. RIP. Every song is an absolute banger
Had to give it a 4 based solely on Do You Feel Like We Do, which was a mainstay on my stoner Playlist back in the college years.
This is a tough one. The whole thing is objectively bad. But I loved these guys back in the day when my musical tastes were... Less mature. Nostalgia is strong with this one.
Rock and fuckin roll, man
I had a dream, Joe. I never had to listen to Nick Cave again. It was glorious.
I was all set to give this a generous 2 but then Green Eyes came on. And I gotta say, that may have been one of the worst songs I've listened to for this entire project.
Although light-years better than most of the junk on here, it's not quite a 5 star album
Funny one to rate. I was a freshman in high school when this came out. Went to a Britney concert in her prime. Now I'm over 40 and it feels weird listening to this. Can't not give it at least a 4. Her 2nd album was better too. So there's that.
