Reviews (page 7 of 7)

Perhaps a bad artist saved by a good producer to make a hardly tolerable album. This should be on anyone’s must listen to list, except teaching what not to do.

Garbage experimental music again. 1/5

Pretty bland 90s music that would be used in the background of some try-hard small town wine bar.

En jaksanut kuunnella kovin kauaa. Ei osu.

p839. 1999. 1 star. Background music for shopping at Ikea. Why is this on the list?

Muzaaaak

Seriously boring. Lacking in dynamics and doesn't sound organic. Also I am not a fan of Brazilian music generally. 1 star

São Paulo confessions that by themselves are more wretched than the crime. All in all a bunch of noisy Latin and sterile, listless electronica and downtempo styles that don’t mesh well at all. Some tracks are technically ok whilst others are just jarring and awful. I give it 1 star for not being essential listening at all and for being murderously long and dull.

Turns out electronica drags jazz down hard

they combined discordant electronic music with bossa nova but no one asked if they really should. in all seriousness, this takes the fun, calm, and smooth sounds of brazilian music and makes it feel like a panic attack. really really not my thing.

Why is this on here

Well this was atrocious. Very relieved when it ended, although I did get a bit excited in the final song when I heard the PS2 noises that Chris pointed out.

No thanks

Man, who listens to this?

This was weird.

Elevator music

Terrible

This reminds me of the Friday night drum circles that would happen in Asheville, NC when I used to live there. Infectiously fun for five minutes, then the novelty begins to wane and it becomes droning. This is the second album this Serbian has had on this list (the other being the one he died trying to save from a studio fire), and though I appreciate the tragedy of his life cut short quite literally for his art, I just don’t see anything more than techno-laced samba. Forgive me; I’d rather that some other 90s club scene albums would have made this list.

The singer sounded a bit like a Brazilian version of Sade - absolutely terrible. The album itself was at times boring and at others downright unpleasant, the strange clicking sounds were the most annoying. At times I thought someone was knocking on my window - very intrusive. Awful music and a waste of just over an hour of my time. Thankfully I know to never listen to this abject shite ever again.

Really very dull

Did not know like

What a bunch of balloney

Listened Before? N Many of the songs on this record have less than 100k listens on Spotify. Is it an undiscovered gem or trash? I don't know because I don't have the patience to listen to over an hour of Portuguese. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Tantos Desejos

Lazy, repetitive crap

What if Nujabes, but bad? Total snoozefest. Some of the vocalists were cool, but this was a slog to get through.

Entirely too repetitive and never really exciting. Maybe if you were at a dance club on acid this album would be good.

This sounds like you’re in a Starbucks and the only thing they’re serving is MDMA Not my thing

Again, not my bag. I can see how it spawned a million mass produced tracks known as ‘chillout’ and that’s a million tracks I don’t like. There is clearly skill on this work, but I want songs and lyrics, not just monosyllabic riffs

This was hit or miss for me. The first track (Tantos Desejos) the vocal on the long holds sounds couple semi-tones out of key which messes with my brain significantly. The second track (Você Gosta) is interesting but sounds like the mario star-power-up music during the syncopated bits and that's hilarious to me. The rest of the album was equally confusing. There were moments of "cool hip coffee-house-vibe" and then moments of "what the actual eff?". Not something I'd seek out and I couldn't make it through the entire album sadly.

Did this make the list because we needed a best album for the genre of background music. This is nothing more than something you hear at an upscale place and say oh that sounds cool because it fits the vibe only to never think of the song again. 3.5/10

Not my cup of tea.

Uhh, yeah, sure. THIS had to be listened to before I died….said no one ever. Latin Prog Synth Alt something or another.

Meh. Pretty forgettable. 1.5/5

good background music but some of the use of out of tune, twangy instruments was piercing. dislike.

Not for me. I feel like I should like it but I didn't. 1 star.

There's a vibe to it, but it's hidden under a bunch of stuff that's bad. Just not for me.

En ihan ymmärrä tätä, ainakaan levyn pituutta. Loppujen lopuksi tää on vain yksi ysärin elektroninen junnauslevy. Sentään vähän bossa novalle kumarrusta, joka tuo omaleimaisuutta. Aika vähän.

Musiikkia, joka on tarkoitettu unohdettavaksi jo kuunneltaessa.

Boring

Interesting to hear once but not something I'd listen to again.

Just not my thing

Not my thing at all. I thought her voice was good, but the album way too long. Some songs I thought the overall vibe was OK, but this isn't really anything I could see myself playing, other than for this list. I'll give it a 1.5. Mainly for the release date of 1/1/1999. I'm now going to play a few tunes by Prince and get my head straight. 1.5

Not really sure why this is on the list. Possibly to fill some quota of South American music maybe?! Either way it did nout for me. Coffee shop background music, minus interesting bits. Was expecting something that reminded me of being in Brazil, but this has more vibes of weak coffee and expensive Italian biscuits

Brazilian instrumental background music. Not particularly interesting to me, listened while working and only it distracted me a couple of times when there were some discordant noises that didn't really work. It might sonically capture sao Paulo really well, can't say, never been, but it wasnt a great listen so regardless it get a 1.

Antropofagus is a bit of a laugh. A hard listen.

Long and largely uninteresting. To be fair, as background music some of it wasn't too bad but there's other background music I'd much prefer. Not sure why it's on the list

I gave it a try and nope

Doesn't particularly stand out.

2.5/10. sonaba bien on paper mezclar weas brasileras con electronica y weas pero real este album es como el pico. suena cmo musica de restaurant caro pero como el dick. enbola hay algunas canciones q se salvan pero son 0 inspiradas pa mi gusto.

If I spoke Spanish I still wouldn’t listen to this album.

Did not liek.

FFS really

I thought this would be really fun, but I was wrong, dull and repetitive. Defo better Latin music out there.

Combines aspects of electronic music that I don't like with Latin music that I don't know much about. Not something I'd ever put on of my own accord.

Just bored by it.

Nothing good in here at all for me

Bad. A truly bad album.
