One Way Or Another Heart of Glass
Fun album that besides a few songs, sounds a little ahead of its time. It reminds me of a female led Clash before the Clash. Favorite Tracks: "One Way or Another" "Pretty Baby" "Heart of Glass"
One way or another - classic Sunday girl
very okay. has two of their best songs but just not very interesting to me
gjjhg
Do I not like Blondie that much? It's too much basic standard pop for me. I think I enjoy covers of the best known songs of the album a lot more than the originals. Other than Heart of Glass, that song is great!
3.7 + A fun, light-hearted blend of new wave, surf, disco and punk digested for a pop audience. Out of context, it's a little dull and suffers from filler tracks. But Debbie Harry remains a template for pop starlet and she brings the vocals to back the look. \"Heart of Glass\" by itself could carry this record, it's a forever favorite of mine, but there are a number of other highlights - \"Fade Away and Radiate\", \"Sunday Girl.\" Definitely overrated as an album but good nonetheless.
A few songs missing from Spotify. Overall a really enjoyable listen. Pretty poppy but with some good punk vibes at times.
Really great had a lot of some of my favorite songs in one album. Outside of the top songs was a bit mediocre but very enjoyable
lol @ the hair on this album cover. I thought "I Know But I Don't Know" was going to be an underrated favorite until 56 seconds in and then it fell off; that guy coming in to harmonize sounds horrible
3/5 I would've enjoyed this 5-10 years ago when I used to listen to classic rock all the time.
Cool. Not really my thing, but still very cool.
Great!
Nice album.
You just feel cool when listening to this album. It's in your face and a wave of excitement. A great "cruise with your windows down" record.
1 listen. Great single power. A lot of filler
Liked picture this, hanging on the tele. A bit repetitive on the instrumentals and underwhelming lyrics.
it's basically background music
Meh
I love Blondie! So many bangers, great album.
fine. theyre iconic. Sunday girl is realyl pretty.
Where Blondie hit the big time.
Extra points because I’ve always had a crush on Debbie Harry. Heart of Glass has been on repeat for me for years. Solid album. Very digestible. Somehow it all feels 80’s vital, maybe not hits, but all contributing to the sound of the era, well produced and technically sound. A genre mashup between pop, punk and reggae. It’s the missing link between the talking heads and Ramones on the way to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Great drumming throughout. There are a few meh songs and every song is about love. Pretty good. B
I really want to like Blondie, and I think I do, but it just feels so time bound. Have to be in the right mood for this.
Knew a few already!
.
Didnt know they were the people that sang "one way or another" song.
Not bad, but not my jam.
Competent pop rock. Not sure what else to say...
Not a huge Blonde fan but can appreciate this
Oldies but goodies - heart of glass & one way or another . Great upbeat voice and good lyric writing
The very best songs are some of the best pop songs ever which makes some of the weaker songs stand out like a sore thumb.
A singles album really, with a mix of great and shite.
Well produced, diverse set of tracks that I'd be happy to hear on the radio, but would never feel like putting on myself.
Plusieurs classiques. Un bon album, mais plus pour ces hits que l’ensemble. 3.25
I didn't mind this, but I still would change the channel I think if it was on the radio. its 2.5 stars for me but ill give it three because its one of the more different sounding 80's albums I have heard.
Best track - 11:59 Let down slightly by the last 3 tracks (not the live ones).
Some I recognised
typical music idk
The singles are great. Rest of the album ranges from pretty good to middling. 6/10
#decent
I always thought that One Way Or Another was a one hit wonder. It was interesting to hear their other songs
A few big hits
fun early pop punk
This album had a couple classics and a few other good songs. Solid!
First album on the list, hard to rate. Enjoyed it, interesting history to heart of glass (disco vs original). One way or another most recognizable track.
Looking at this bbn playlist I wondered if I was going to recognize anything other than One Way or Another. Heart of Glass was the only other familiar song. This album came out considerably earlier than I would have thought. The musical style of many of the songs I didn't particularly recognize surprised me
Stuff from my youth.
Some high highs and low lows on this album. The Blondie hits on this one are good, but there are a lot of songs that don't really need to exist on the album as well.
Klassiker! Låtarna man inte känner igen är väl inte king direkt, men fortfarande godkända.
Decent album, Debbie Harry has such a lovely voice!
Stylistically inconsistent and occasionally annoying, but hasn't aged poorly and was still quite fun.
Enjoyable. Little too "pop" for my tastes for the most part. Heart of Glass really hard carries this album.
Better then I thought it would be. Lots of songs on there that I knew of but didn't know they made. Lots of classics on it. Some songs were a bit dated/weren't my style but most of them still bangs.
Recognized one song, and liked that one the most out of the bunch. Not my cup of tea though
Very nice !
blonde is a very talented song writer. This album has heart of glass. Other than that, a very average album.
nice dude
Good.
Blandet 70’er popmusik, flere gode numre
Not bad, not my taste. I would never desire to listen again.
Great guitat album and awesome vocal performance (Fade Away and Radiate is my favorite) but i'm really getting tired of Heart of Glass. Some tracks are a bit skippable and are not that unique.
Blondie's Parallel Lines is a decent, fun new wave album often brimming with character, largely thanks to Debbie Harry's personality shining through her spunky vocals. The album comprises fairly consistent pop rock throughout but seems to be the kind of record that's made by its hits; no song is bad, but everything aside from a handful of standout tracks feels a little samey and ultimately forgettable, one punchy song blending into the next without truly distinguishing itself. The album's aforementioned highlights stand as opener 'Hanging on the Telephone,' 'Pretty Baby,' and mega-hits 'One Way or Another' and 'Heart of Glass.' Blondie is no doubt a talented group of musicians, but aside from a few fun tracks, this album is merely palatable. This is probably one that hit a lot harder on release than it does decades later, but its most well-known tracks still hold up well. This would ideally get a 2.5 stars (low 2 / high 3), but that's not an option here so I'll round down. Rating: ~4.5/10 _____ Album 9 / 1001+
ist mir irgendwie zu poppig? oder ich mag new wave nicht? also geil aber iwie nicht ganz meins. sie ist queen though
There are pretty solid and thrilling songs in here, but at the end of the album I was waiting it for it to end -not a good sign. I have been guided by my intuition and emotions rather than a rational analysis of the melody, lyrics, whatever the hell is supposed to make an album 'good'. Perhaps this is an insult to my intelligence, but throughout these days in which I have listened to these different albums I have noticed a lack of enthusiasm and vivacity in songs. I am not only writing about Blondie, but I want music to excite and make me feel the widest, sharpest, and deepest parts of my own self, and unfortunately this album could only capture a fraction of an atom of a glimpse of that in a couple of songs. I am not a critic nor a musician, but I am someone who desires to encounter an album that can shake me to my core. Is that too much to ask?
Great album.
Few really good songs, but most of them were just okay
I did like the Heart Of Glass, but other songs were just ok.
Couple of good songs, otherwise meh.
Globalement je me fais plutôt chier Heart of glass fait du bien dans ce contexte Bang a gong pas mal ! 5/10
I liked it. Some classics and one new one I’ll add to the rotation. By the end of the album I was pissed off
Not a bad album, but not something that I would want to hear again.
This is just kinda boring. Yeah alright fun 70s rock. It has a woman so it gets a pass. I mean good music but just kinda unremarkable. Idk just I don't care. It's not anything crazy. A little bit musical esque. If you told me this was a rejected grease soundtrack I'd believe you. Some hits definitely just not much else. Favourite: Heart Of Glass Least favourite: I Know But I Don't Know
One of those brain worms, like the Arthur theme song, or something like that idk. Without nostalgia this brain worm is more of a tape worm, and not the weight loss type
“One Way Or Another” is up there with my least favorite songs so gotta dock a star
Felt repetitive. Feel bad saying that because I feel like I should like it more but I don't really.
Kind of the quintessential ‘70s new-wave album; has its classics, but also just kind of “meh” & same-y in my opinion.
vasatın bir tık üstü
Standard faux punk pop album
Fine
It's fine. It's a me problem, not a Blondie problem. Not my style.
5/10
I'm going to be honest, the first 2 songs were really annoying. I think it's the vocals, they're very bombastic and repetetive. Since they're well known songs I was surprised I didn't care for them. Picture this was really good, very much enjoyed that. Fade away has interesting sounds but not a lot of substance. Pretty Baby is meh. Nothing special. Same for the next song. It's more heavy and energetic, but still. There's a lot of boring throwaway songs on here. Sunday girl is lovely. Heart of glass is really good. The last 2 songs are ehh. Mixed bag here. Mostly mid with a few diamonds. Not essential.
I'm the problem, this just wasn't for me
A couple iconic songs and a list of girl power music - a bit reminiscent of GoGo girls (who came after) in many places! Likeable.
Three different genres of dad rock in a row. This is getting tiring. I don't really see myself listening to this.
I was exposed to Blondie in the early 80s and so I don't think I ever heard this whole album, which came out when I was 9, although I certainly was familiar with the radio play given to "One Way or Another" and "Heart of Glass". I'm a little surprised by the pop sound of so many songs on this album, many are "tamer" than what I think of with this band. Besides the two singles and "I'm Gonna Love You Too", I wasn't crazy about this album.
Not my thing.
This record tries to answer if a moderately okay new wave/pop punk record can be saved by having 1-2 bangers. The answer is sort of. You are listening and One Way Or Another just slams, but maybe that's just jingle staying power. The record does improve by the time we get to heart of glass, but it never reaches the same heights. I like the sound, and having a female vocalist is a nice addition to the other brit pop records. However, it still remains samey through most of it, and I never got a sense of what they were meaning.
Not my taste as well, few cool songs, however this album won't be in my rotation
I liked a song or two. Not really my music
Boring
Not bad but not my style
вроде хороший альбом, но нет желания его переслушать
Debbie Harry’s voice is undeniably impressive, but Parallel Lines doesn’t fully land for me. It feels overly polished, leaning toward commercial appeal rather than offering something truly bold or innovative. The same happens with The Police: technically sharp, but the records often lack the raw force or originality that would make them more compelling
Definitely an iconic album however one that I feel sounds particularly dated nowadays. From the throwback to the1950s rock and roll cliches to the grating sound of what sounds like a Casio keyboard synth playing overlapping Melodies, this album has some clear standout hits such as heart of glass, hanging in the telephone and one way or another l. However the resto of the album songs sound like a lack of effort has been giving to them and were more filler than anything else. I have always thought I liked blondie but perhaps I like there selected songs but maybe they lack a back catalogue that really gets me going although I will absolutely be putting that to a test outside of the list 4.5/10
Heart of Glass a banger but otherwise this doesn't really do anything for me. Fav tracks: Heart of Glass RYM: N Saved a song: N
T ex i I’m gonna love you to.
one way or another carries the album, otherwise not my fav
2.5
I am not really a huge fan of Blondie. I find their music is always so radio friendly and lacking any real substance, just very generic 70s/80s music that I associate with cringey film montages. I think in general though, I find the pop rock genre a bit shallow and went in already not loving it. Technically, the production on this is good in terms of it being super polished, but I think it leans too much into being accessible, and you can tell saleability was the main priority, making it very forgettable in the process. I don’t think vocals are particularly special either and could be easily replicated. Lyrics are prudent, sticking to generic themes focusing on catchiness and lacking depth. I’m sure this album was influential in its own right, hence the tonnes of great reviews, but it just wasn’t my thing. Despite being catchy and well produced, I just thought it prioritised accessibility over depth.
always get blondie and hole mixed up and then wish it was the other
not my bag... maybe not even at all... heart of glass is obv a banger and one or two others that i thought weren't bad
hmm. not for me. love debby harry but this album is so unispired and stale.
Niet helemaal mijn ding, wel veel hitjes.
I kept waiting for this to get better. It never did. I like the singles that I and everyone else are familiar with but the rest of the album was just very middling. Not bad. Just very average.
It was 80s vibes which i dont really like and thats why i didnt listen to the whole album but i did save one song to a playlist to give another chance and recognize some famous songs so it was pretty cool.
To be honest, I just wasn’t into this. Iconic band and songs. But really for me I didn’t think it was up there. I’ve never been a huge blondie fan anyway but, yeah, something wasn’t engaging with me on this one. Hanging on the telephone is probably the one i listened to a few times.
Kinda crazy that the frontwoman is blonde
decent; hanging on the telephone, one way or another
Meh.
Instrumentals aren't very exciting. The vocals aren't good. Nothing notable about this album.
I love the one song
Eh. I respect the snark and the riffs but every song is the same take on generic garage rock except for the disco song that is cooler than 85% of radio disco at the time. It's a perfectly acceptable album but it doesn't really move the needle a whole lot. Debbie Harry is cool but overall pretty bland.
340 albums in, and I have grown to at least appreciate genres that I hadn't given much thought to previously. The biggest holdout so far is New Wave. A couple of recognizable songs here that I've never been a fan of. There wasn't anything to change my mind about this genre.
Crazy how a few of these songs are so fucking good and so popular, and the rest are so fucking mid. As an album, not the best. But the couple singles on here slap. 2.5
Not a huge fan of this. To me it kinda epitomises everything I don’t enjoy from the 70s-90s. I felt the lyrics were fairly corny, uninspiring, rhyme schemes predictable. Similarly the chord progressions and melodies followed a similar pattern, predictable and corny. The vocal performance had a lot of conviction but felt like it was pushing a little hard and was over the top- which stylistically I wasn’t into. The beach rock feel wasn’t a winner for me. Taste wise not into it. The synths and electric pianos were interesting at times. Nice enough analogue mix- no complaints there but also nothing inspiring. Nice to place those well known songs in a context- heart of glass and such. But also don’t feel strongly about those songs either. I don’t know why but this reminds me of cruise ship music. Music they’d perform on cruise ships.
2.5
A slice of pop, many hit singles not much intellectual stimulation.
It was ok
boringde
Cracker Jack pop rock with a hot lead singer. That's what I think about this. One Way or Another is also one of thee most annoying songs ever recorded too.
Для меня ничего особенного. Те два хита, что я уже знала, только и понравились. Остальные никак не зацепили.
Besides One Way or Another and Heart Of Glass. It was a very average album.
Nothing on this album was hard to listen to per se, but I definitely didn't love any of these tracks, including the hits.
Couple cool songs but overall meh
how she became a thing I don't know, other than she was hot back in the day. she sings off key. and is she pop, punk, rap? who knows. I just know it's not for me.
the obvious hits and classic are pretty good. not my fav but they’re alright
Not my taste. Blondie had a couple of hits from this album, but I found myself just waiting for it to be done with the rest of the tracks.
Kind of bland
Sorry Blondie, Lorna Shore relased a new album
I respect their place in history, just isn’t my thing.
Meh
This album was actually less bland and tame than I feared, it had some real punk elements - gritty vocals, strong mic on the drums, some great bass lines and guitar work. But ultimately, too much ABBA comes through and the lyrics were so bad. Kudos to being essentially an 80s pop album and not being terrible tho.
This was okay. Other than heart of glass (a hall of famer) I liked hanging on the telephone. I've always found one way or another a little more annoying than it's intended to be. 2.5. Was initially gonna round up to 3, but with more time to think, 2 feels appropriate.
I want particularly excited by this album. I don't think I finished it
Nem a presença de Robert Fripp na anacrônica faixa "Fade Away (And Radiate)" salva o disco de seu conceito de música infanto-juvenil e sem graça. Fraquinho!
I can understand why this is a huge band for a lot of people, not quite my cup of tea. The recognisable singles are pretty good, however the rest of the album isn't particularly interesting not captivating. I wanted to like Blondie, but not for me.
I feel like I’m supposed to like this but I just don’t. Except I did add Heart of Glass to my liked music because that’s a solid song.
Over produced - especially Deborah Harry’s interesting and pleasant voice.
Perhaps a product of their times. Heart of glass was familiar.
Not too bad. "Heart of Glass" is the only track I can somewhat enjoy.
I honestly think I just don’t like Blondie
kedelig pop. enkelte kendte numre (one way or another).
Overall rating - 2 - only a few songs I liked and a couple I've heard too many times over the years. Hanging on the Telephone - 4/5 One Way or Another - 5/5 - Have heard this my whole life - good song Picture This - 2.5/5 Fade Away and Radiate - 3/5 Pretty Baby - 2.5/5 I Know But I Don't Know - 4/5 - Good song 11:59 - 3.5/5 - I like the music Will Anything Happen - 4/5 - I like the tempo. Good song Sunday Girl 4/5 Heart of Glass - 5/5 - Good song. Heard this one my whole life too I'm Going to Love You Too 3.5/5 Just Go Away - 2.5/5
I get why they were popular at the time but doesn’t track for me
Good singles 'hanging on the telephone' but bit new-wave-odd-chord-change for me
not a big fan. It's got some good songs but its not my favorite record
Meh. Couple great songs otherwise poor musicianship
this is one of those reviews i'm mostly doing so i can reveal the next album. punk, new wave, those things are in the background but also really radio friendly pop. I'm hearing the Cars. Lots of it. Album cover is funny. Fade Away and Radiate caught my attention. Pretty Baby is not my Debbie Harry fantasy. Maybe. We're at a diner. It's the 50's. She gets in a fight with her boyfriend. Throws her milkshake all over him. He gets aggressive. I step up. Hey now mister. He turns around. Doesn't even give me the dignity of a fist to the face. Just backhands my glasses off. In my frantic search to find them I accidentally deck the guy. He's out cold on the floor. The sweat drops down my brow. Turns my hair into a perfect greaser curl. We're on the back of his hog. Debbie and me. Wind whipping through that white dress. Drive down to the lake... WHOA. Got a little distracted. This is a public review. This album just made me want to listen to the Cars.
It's an okay rock album. Nothing stood out to me accept the hits which were really good. Just boring.
Random Blondie thoughts: I don't have a lot of vivid memories from my early childhood - probably because of a combination of trauma repression, general old age, and alcohol killing brain cells - but one of them is of lying in my parents' bed and watching Blondie sing "The Tide is High" on Solid Gold. That song is not on this album, of course, but it's usually the first thing I think of when this group is mentioned. The second is the hip-hop "pioneering" they did in "Rapture." And the third is that Maggie and I used to have fun doing "One Way or Another" on Rock Band 2 on the Wii. I had never listened to this album start to finish. Now I can die. (lol)
Mostly "shit list" classics with an upbeat happy vibe. Probably not a good listen for a Friday when you're ill with the flu. Could be a good album for early stages of a party--just when people are arriving!
Didn't know the first one! Very fun. Forgot the mad way she sings the chorus of One Way Or Another. Also very fun. Great guitar solo halfway through Picture This - otherwise fairly BASIC. Rest are fairly forgettable, till Will Anything Happen which is pretty good - love the key changes, switching moods and tempos. Sunday Girl and Heart of Glass always excellent. Last two are forgettable (I'm Gonna Love You Too is so ditzy haha) but I like some of the Lyrics of Just Go Away: "You got a big mouth and I'm happy to see - Your foot is firmly entrenched where a molar should be" "Don't be mad or lose your medicaid cool" "Don't go away sad - Don't go away mad - Just go away"
Blondie is Blondie. I can listen to her or not. A so-so album for me.
Huh. A bit of a disappointment I gotta say. “Heart of Glass” is a certified banger and I thought this would be an album full of them. Most of the tracks are really bland and forgettable. I’ll have to poke around and see if Blondie has any other options.
The lead singer of Death once wore a Blondie shirt, making this band one of the “acceptable” pop acts to enjoy for adult children in YouTube comment sections who say things like “Horns from South Dakota 🤘” or whatever. I mean I’ve heard the hits and it sounded like run of the mill pop to me. Reading the track list, there are some recognizable ones in here, so hook that hair dye into my meninges and let’s get on that telephone, brother, err sister. I started to write that I feel bad, but why should I feel bad for not liking this? The chorus is fine, but the vocal pattern in the verses induces motion sickness. Corny. I don’t know if it’s the remaster, but this sounds so flat. Also I’ve heard this a million times in what feels like every movie ever, and I hate the growling female vocal. It’s drunk karaoke. The instrumental break that you never hear is actually pretty cool. It would be nice to hear these untarnished, but it sounds like she needs to clear her throat and I can’t escape the montage(s) in my mind. Nice start to “Picture This.” Simple pop song, sweet sound, better vocals. Ugh except when she gets shouty, but otherwise, nice little “chune” as the English may say. Cool opening. Very cool. It’s kind of going nowhere. It’s dawned on me that someone born in 1955 would’ve been 23 when this came out. They’d turn 70 this year. Time is wild. Ended up being a boring song. I’m not falling in love with this song. It’s so generic and bland. Is this an 8-but Rush cover? The fact that this riff is even bringing Rush to mind makes it the best thing going. Is this Carpathian Forest? I like the synth. Not bad. Not great. Will anything happen? That is the real question. Nah this hasn’t been that boring. This song however? Well, YOU be the judge. Wait. This is my opinion. Yes. It’s boring. Ooh I like the upper register vocals here. Is that falsetto? Whatever. This is a sweet, 50’s-esque pop song that I quite like. Oh whoa another hit. I forgot about this song. I like it. Always have. That higher vocal she does is so much more captivating than the honky tonk bar growl that so many bad vocalists co-opted moving forward. Excellent track. This isn’t too bad. It’s kind of silly. I would never advertise that I listen to this in any way shape or form because it is super dumb. I don’t hate it though. Except the riverboat piano underneath. And the somehow farm-based chorus. Clear your throat. Go away?? Jeez I’m sorry blondie, you don’t have to clear your throat. Shut up? I suppose I’ve been so mean to so many artists, ol Debbie is putting me in my place. Well, I’m not going anywhere Blondie. This sounds like some drunk former musicians playing in a garage. I’m filing a noise complaint. And with the arrest of the pompadour brothers on the right, we fade into the silence of forever. I await Monday, where I can expect another steaming pile of album to be slid into my now empty trough. Oh I have to sum up Blondie. Uhhh. It was fine. There were moments that surprised me with how interesting they were and then there was also a heap of underwhelming songs featuring surprisingly awful vocals. This album falls in the “ok” category. Nothing terrible, but certainly nothing special in my humble opinion. You can’t be humble if you say you are. Ugh. Whatever. Let’s move on from this. My fingers grow weary of typing about this album. It initiated more spills than thrills and without the invention of rap on “RAPture,” I don’t know if I can say I had a good time. Hanging myself with the telephone. See you Monday. 2-2.5 HIGHLIGHTS: Picture This, I Know But I Don’t Know, Sunday Girl, Heart of Glass
My second repeat. I really enjoy the core sound. However, the songwriting feels largely unmemorable and a bit uninspired this time around. good vibe for when you aren't listening too carefully. The hits are hits for a reason, and a couple hidden gems. Best tunes: one way or another, fade away and radiate, pretty baby, will anything happen, sunday girl, heart of glass
Got a bonus star for the rudy can’t fail rip off
Sucks
This is another album that is entirely on here because of two major hit songs. Unfortunately, the rest of the album is just filler of babbling, and mediocre instrument play. Favorite Song: "One Way Or Another"
did not enjoy the fusion of pop and rock
I would've given this album a 3 but I hate Heart of Glass. This band also feels like it's trying to be so quirky by having a female singer and male band, like that's never been done before!
Yeah it’s ok. Not in my collection, she had some attitude did DH & fair play to her but it’s not an album I have really connected with and even after giving it a try today it still leaves me with little to change my mind
Meh. Nostalgic, and I could see it was occasionally crunchy / more than just straightforward rock, but not handsome enough to tempt me
A high-ish 2 stars. Nothing on the album hits the heights of ‘Heart of Glass’ or ‘Hanging on the Telephone’. What a shame.
It starts off so strong but then kind of shows its age. Debbie Harry was an absolute rock star though. I missed "Call Me" and wished it were on this album. I think I would've liked this a lot more if I'd been around when it came out.
blondie walked so gwen could also walk
2.5 I thought I would have liked this more than I did. Felt a bit more disco-y and pop than new wave in a lot of spots. There was some interesting guitar work in the background. Skipped through a bunch of it though
Was fine. Didn’t like the choice for intro. I like Heart Of Glass. Some other fine songs. Would've rated 2 and 1/2 stars if it were an option.
1st song- its pretty good but I don't like it because it didn't make any sense 2nd song- I like this song it's good than others ones and super good it make sense . 3rd song- its ok but I don't like it just it just hear funny 4 song - its ok i like it little bit
Had to be there I think lol
Not really my vibe.
Fun, but not an album I'd revisit (even despite all the classics).
Heart of Glass: 10/10 Sunday Girl: 8/10 The rest 4/10
Meh
fuck heart of glass. i've heard it a billion times at work
A couple decent songs but it just doesn't interest me. 2 stars or D+.
sigga beinteins
some fun new wave, but it's never really been my sound. However, I can see the appeal.
One Way Or Another brukar min hjärna nynna på då och då. Har inte riktigt tänkt på att det är Blondie. Men den är ju bra. Inte alltid låtar som fastnar på hjärnan är det. Fade Away And Radiate har något. Heart Of Glass och Once I Had A Love är jag bekant med. Det var väl allt jag hade att säga om denna skiva som i övrigt passerade in genom ena örat och ut genom det andra. Meningslöst. En trea för hitlåtarna en tvåa till resten.
super pop. 2 stars
Was a bigger fan of Debbie Harry and her 70s rocker sex appeal than of Blondie and their music. Their style and sound are too dated for me to enjoy today. High 2.
In short: this sucks Long answer: I remember hearing One Way or Another as a child and I thought Mimi from The Drew Carey Show was the singer so thats always been in my head and certainly colored my review. Even the hits dont do anything for me, Heart of Glass makes me think of Vice City and changing the radio station immediately. Just wasnt for me.
personal rating: 5/10
Not for me
I wanted to like this album but it just didn’t fit my day.
This late-70s/early-80s “new wave” wannabe punk stuff is always the most underwhelming music. Not a single memorable melody in the bunch.
Almost nothing of note besides the singles. A very puzzling entry to the list.
Respectable but not my thing
classic
Couldn’t finish it. I’m sure it was great at the time but just a bit annoying innit?
Alright.
“Blondie” A bands name has perhaps never been so important to its success. Just can’t get into it. Blah.
👏🏼
It was okay, can’t believe it really is recommended as a must listen to album though.
Not for me.
Preferred the songs at the start of the album, didn’t like the live songs. 2/5 overall
damn this did absolutely nothing for me. I know the hits obviously, but it just bored me and that's unfortunate.
Fun vocals on pretty decent tracks. Nothing remarkable, but a good time while it was on
Oh man generic 80s pop! That's a little extreme but yea this album just sounds like stuff that plays at low volume in shopping centers.
70's Pop.
2- Stars (4/15)
Blondie is not my fav only like a few songs
Too poppie
Some of the songs were a little unsettling for me to listen to melodically. The overall tonal quality is pretty driving/frantic, which wasn't really the mood I was in when listening. It was fine but probably not an album I'll listen to again.
Decent, not my jam.
Ok
Eh, it was fine, I guess.
Lots to suggest Deb Harry is a great singer. Have heard the mythology about this group's connection to underground music. Mostly I do not hear that on the record - I hear some of the pieces ground up into a paste to pour in the 80s radio rock mold. hated. (⌐■_■)
I know
Really enjoyed it
i liked the first song but the rest was a biiiiig meh
Heart of Glass is an all time track.
New to me. Pretty basic rock, a few hits. Meh.
This record came at a sort of pivotal moment in Blondie's career. They were in the middle of transitioning from the punk scene to a more pop/disco sound. There are still some remnants of their punk roots on this record, such as the track "Will Anything Happen". However, their efforts in changing their sound proved successful as the big hit from this record was the disco track "Heart of Glass". Personally, I am not a fan of their more pop/disco tunes.
didnt fully listen but they have bops
Always thought Blondie were overrated and this has only confirmed my suspicions.
Just ok
Just not a fan. Slightly better than expected but would never revisit
Not my flavor
It just isn't for me.
not my type of music unfortunately. liked 1 or 2 songs though.
~ = good + = very good * = already knew the song One Way or Another =*+ Pretty Baby =~ Sunday Girl =~ Heart of Glass =*+ Once I Had a Love (AKA The Disco Song) 1978 version =*+
It was just ehh.
Couple hits, otherwise not memorable
Obvious 'ONE WAY OR ANOTHER' is a great song but the rest of this album was meh for me.
Possible 2.5. Mostly felt bored/indifferent. The “hits” are lackluster and not sure why they stood out to begin with to reach hit status.
1. hanging on the telephone - 1 2. one uuay or another - 1.5 3. picture thiz - 1 4. fade auuay and radiate - 1 5. i knouu but i dont knouu - 1 6. 11.59 - 1.5 7. uuill anything happen - 1 8. zunday girl - 1.5 9. heart of glazz - 2 10. im gonna love you too - 1 11. juzt go auuay - 1 12. once i had a love - 2
No thanks.
"One Way..." und "Heart of Glass" sind mega, sonst eher ohne große Überraschungen.
Had 2 good songs but felt the other were pretty forgettable and trivial
3/10 Top 3: Heart of glass One way or another I know but I don’t know
Todos los temas medios parecidos, muy popero Tiene Glass of Heart y One Way or Another.
Didn’t love it. Felt too elementary. All kinda blended together
Some of it was fun and cute, some was edgy, some was very, very meh. Really wanted to like it more.
Never was a big fan of the hits off this album (or Blondie in general) and the rest it wasn't much better. "I Know But I Don't Know" was the only track I really enjoyed, some of the guitar and bass work was cool. At least it was short!
Come on guys, Blondie kinda sucks and "kinda" is doing a lot of work here. Take away the cult of Debbie Harry and there's really not much there, with the important exception of Rapture being a seminal event in the mainstream legitimization of rap. Hanging on the Telephone is great. Fade Away and Radiate was a pleasant surprise. One Way or Another sucks. Heart of Glass is great for the first 15 seconds then sucks. Everything else sucks.
Strong intro track, sets a vibe already kinda getting to a 80 sound. Forgot to save My notes, but over all pretty mod album 3/10
i don't really like it
I don't get it. It's like cheap Cheap Trick, so that reaches a high level of boredom. I'm gonna love you too, Sunday Girl and 11:59 are painful to listen to.
Not great, the two popular hits were alright
Einzelne Songs ganz gut, aber im ganzen nichts für mich
88 / 1069 Not for me - I knew quite a few of these from their endless radio and TV adverts plays. I can see the appeal it would have for a lot of people, but I just can’t.
The boy-bandification of Punk.
One way or another is so sickeningly overplayed that I had to skip it. Pretty Baby annoying and forgettable 50's inspired song. Sunday Girl fun and boppy. Heart of Glass the obvious star here, very different from all the other songs as it departs from the vaguely 50's theme. Just Go Away pretty funny and lighthearted. Overall a fairly forgettable album other than Heart of Glass and one I'd like to forget with One Way or Another.
Just OK for me, she must have been an incredible performer because the album left me underwhelmed.
List should be renamed "1001 albums that made me die." The singles are singles for a reason. Rest is generic stuff. Pretty terrible era for music.
Poppi hittejä, aika hyvä.
Idk man just didn’t vibe
Vocals sound like the lead singer was joking or messing around somehow on a few tracks, which is annoying Some tracks sound kinda Honky tonk, but some still stand up Not really my jam
I suppose I didn't hate this, but having said that, I'm pretty certain I would be happy to never listen to this album again and wouldn't be opposed to never hearing a single one of these songs again.
Knew it, doesn't really like.
Blonde – Parallel Lines Blondie isn’t a band I’ve listened to that much. Let’s se ehow good they are. - Don’t Leave Me Hangin’ on the Telephone – Straightforward rock with some surprisingly good guitar. I especially like the background trills in the choruses. Pretty good track. - One Way or Another – A poppier track, and not one I particularly like. It lacks the aggression and sinister vibes of better yandere songs. It predates “Every Breath You Take” by the Police, but it’s definitely a worse song. Apparently singer Debbie Harry was almost kidnapped by Ted Bundy, and this was her way of dealing with that event. It’s not a pleasnant listen though. Way too repetitive. - Picture This – It’s a song about longing for various things (a street with a view, a guy etc.) Not really a fan. - Fade Away and Radiate – Much more low key song, with muted instruments and softer singing. Describes how dreams and people can die so quickly (the lines “dusty grames that still arrive die in 1955” references James Dean’s untimely death, for instance), but television causes them to live on. IT’s conceptually kinda interesting, but not one I like that much. Parts of the outro are kinda good I guess. - Pretty Baby – A song about child star Brooke Shields who played the role of child prostitute in the film Pretty Baby at only 12 years old. ICK. I don’t like the song that much, either. - I Know But I Don’t Know – I don’t like it. The backing vocals from Frank Infante are kinda bad. The end solo is nice though. - 11:59 – I don’t like the keyboard playing. The parts don’t really fit together for me. - Will Anything Happen? – Stuff happens, but it’s not particuarlly good. Rockier than most, but has enough awkward parts and goes on for too long that it fails to make the cut. - Sunday Girl – Don’t like. - Heart of Glass – The pure disco track of the album and one of the two lead singles. The quavering keys are nice, and the bass has a nice beat on this one. The “mucho mistrust” lyric is dumb though, lol. Are those enough to carry a song I otherwise don’t like much? Not quite. - I’m Gonna Love You Too – Generic 80s pop rock love song. I don’t like. The guitar solo is decent, but that’s it. - Just Go Away – Please do. Of all the albums I’ve listened to, this is probably my least favorite so far. The only track I’d save for later is the first one. The rest are either annoying, boring, or vapid. I like some Blondie songs, but very few from this album. Top Tracks: - Don’t Leave Me Hanging On the Telephone – Rockiest track and only one that didn’t kind of annoy me. It’s also a cover, lol. - Fade Away and Radiate – the most unique and conceptually interesting, though it doesn’t quite live up to that potential.
If you had asked me a year and a half ago, I would have told you that Blondie rules and that Cyndi Lauper sucks. This was based entirely on a general feeling and not actual experience. Well, if the albums featured here are any indicator, I was completely wrong! This album is pretty soulless and feels very perfunctory.
Helt OK.
Nokkur fín lög en platan barn síns tíma.
Ekkert spes, en ekkert glatað heldur. Mjög svona la la.
Je pense que ça a été un album influent: il y a one way or another et heart of glass, deux classiques pas fan mais très respectable
It’s ok…
Ok, not really my style but some good songs.
Heart of Glass is the only reason this album is not getting one star. Not a fan of Blondie.
Eh, precursor to some great 80s music. This just isn't it.
One Way or Another ist ein Banger my Memes become Dreams I'm gonna love you too lowkey banger
Meh. Some good hits that are super catchy, but also a bunch of really bad songs. I certainly wouldn't go so far as to call this Punk either. Def new wave. There are some hints of punk. But really, I find it far too poppy. Has no edge. No angst. No anger. I'll be fine hearing the 2 hits on classic radio. No need to hear this again.
A few well known songs, but I was underwhelmed by the album as a whole.
eh
2/5.
бесячая группа
A couple of classic tracks, but it's mostly pretty dull. My dad likes blondie for some reason
Meh, never really got it.
Meh
I don't like pop music. Ein paar songs kennt man wohl. Finds aber ehr mittelmäßig alles. Brauch ich nicht nochmal. Aber es war jetzt nicht bodenlos. Deshalb 2*
knew like 2 songs. cool sound. not fitting for doing art. too hectic and gives off socialising vibes
It's a fine album, but nothing that made me be like "yassss!!"
Bottle blonde at best.
eh
rätt ösigt utan supercatchiga refränger
blow my shit smooove off before I listen to all of it
Boring but some good guitar riffs
A few hits
Me gustaron 3 canciones. No mi tipo
too 70’s for me
Определенно нет….
i like one way or another but that might just be because of hocus pocus
2/10. 2 one hit wonder songs and that’s pretty much it🤷🏼♂️.
Trivial pop rock. I never saw the allure of this band.
Ass
Reminds me of americana or beach music, there's that one song that everyone knows but it just feels all samey because the musical dynamics rarely change, which might be for someone else, but not me
Struggle with Blondie. I will turn the radio over when they come on. Find them overrated and dated. Maybe I’m in a mood but really couldn’t wait for this album to end.
Not for me
Why do 70s “punk” bands sound just like 50s doo woo?
This is one of the those artists where I knew a lot of there songs already. Highlights: None Not likely to return.
Whew. This one is not for me. It was hard to get through it.
Listened to this while working out so no track-by-track. Didn't care for much of it really. It was fine. Nothing offensive nothing amazing. Fav tracks: Hanging On The Telephone One Way Or Another
Brondie
