Reviews (page 8 of 13)

Adele a une voix exceptionnelle, la production est soignée, mais c'est trop sentimental pour moi.

Not exactly my sort of thing, but it's a killer album.

One of the best voices of my generation. Not my favorite of hers but some cool songs. I think I'd have liked it more if half of these songs weren't played to death for the last 10 years. "Million Years Ago" was a nice new find though!

She's good, but other than Hello and the last track all the songs sound the same. Enough Adele already!

A little to productionized for me. Still some bangers.

She has a good voice. Adele is pretty odd. I guess the right would to describe would be adult contemporary? It's not really the same genre but it's so similar otherwise, appealing primarily to older audiences. There was some other review that pointed this out but she's writing at 25 about missing being young. That's really funny to point out, but Adele kinda just has the vibe of an older parent or something, it's weird. The album is itself is kinda a mixed bag sadly. This is pretty poppy in a way that undercuts the emotion at points. The songs can also blend together in a way that makes the album seem kinda... boring? One of the tags for this is literally "boring." There really are some great highlights, but the rest is just... boring. 5/10

HELLO FROM THE OTHER SIIIIIIIDEEE

This is the kind of music that makes you feel like you just got divorced, even if you're single.

Good album. Melancholy but well written. Not something I’d seek out on my own but not mad about having to listen to it.

It meanders along happily with a single song that stands out. The entire album disappoints me

Very nostalgic for me. Made me want to listen to more music like this (ballady, strong vocals) but most songs were pretty repetitive. I’m sure there are albums that do what this one does hut better. But I added some of the tracks to the playlist so that bumps it from a 2 to a 3.

I only new a couple of songs from her, and I generally liked them. The album has a lot of forgettable songs, which her voice cannot rescue. 6/10

Loved her first album, liked her second album and was getting a bit bored by the third one! She can still sing, obviously, but some of the bite has gone and it’s all too much by the numbers.

Back in the early 2010’s, in my high school/somewhat early college years, my only gateway to music was my car radio. My intake was solely the songs I heard on the radio, which was mostly pop stations that played whatever was popular at the time, with some throwbacks. Miserable existence, I know. I eventually broke out of that. But in that time, I was familiar with a lot of the popular songs of the decade. So naturally, like millions of other people, I knew Adele, thanks to Rolling in the Deep, Someone Like You, basically all the hits from “21”. I remember Hello being this sort of “comeback song” for Adele since it was her first new song in a few years. That’s an eternity in the pop world. And then eventually I would barely listen to radio in favor of just plugging my phone into the radio to get rid of all the repetition I was hearing over the stations. After all of this time, I finally get the entire album experience for Adele’s return after 21 and… it’s okay. Like, it’s a standard album. Some pop songs here, some soft stuff here. It’s a little disappointing that someone of Adele’s talent is stuck making songs like this. I’d call it “Mariah Carey syndrome” but I think Adele’s a little better than that. Honestly, past the hits (Hello, Water Under the Bridge, Send My Love), there’s nothing of note here…expect one. All I Ask is this really nice slow song that I remember hearing being sung a bunch of times on American Idol. Not the Fox version, but the ABC one where everyone has a sob story and the flimsy belief that winning the show would make you a pop sensation is somehow still a thing. Yeah, it’s a popular pick and after hearing it, I can see why. I honestly wish more of the songs here were like that; more emotion and less pleasing-the-producers. But alas, that’s 25. Favorite track: All I Ask Other hits: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), Water Under the Bridge, When We Were Young, Love in the Dark

Adele is a once in a generation kind of singer. Hello, I Miss You, and the staggeringly beautiful When We Were Young are the standouts here. Beyond that, great singing as always, but the songwriting on display here is not the strongest of her output.

Dad- 5 Mom- 7 Mike- 6 Lori- 6 Michael- 4.5 Miles- NA Cole- 5 Avg- 5.58

A beautiful voice, competent lyrics and some good songs, particularly the first few, but here comes another piano ballad. 3 Stars.

I'm not a fan of overproduced pop, but this is a very well produced burner, worth listening to once, volume to the max. Some nice layers in the back channels. Only the occasional hint of 2015-era-skrillex-brostep, buried deep in the mix, like a dumb treat. Not a lot of risks here, but then again, not everything you consume needs to be risky to be good. You want an experimental sandwich for lunch every day? The age thing is a little irksome. When we were young? You're 25, unless you're getting nostalgic for tricycles I'm not buying it. Then again, Neil Young was talking about getting old almost 50 years ago, and no one gives him shit for it, so I'm giving Adele a pass. You kinda have to be insipid and self absorbed and melancholic when you're 25. Honestly, she had a 3-year-old kid at the time, a lot happens in those first 3 years. I'm glad I listened to this, and also glad I never have to listen to it again.

I’m sorry if I’ve misunderstood, but is the concept behind Hello genuinely feeling upset that someone you’ve dumped has moved on and is happy now? Jesus, you’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel of things to be sad about there, Adele. Fairly standard 2010s pop, nothing special.

It was fine. Simpsons: Yes

Some albums immediately take you back to a certain time and place. 'American Idiot' by Green Day always reminds me of heading to the cinema for Rozza's birthday. The self-titled album by Razorlight gives me nostalgia for long hours spent grinding away on Runescape. And '25' by Adele vividly triggers memories of April 1970 - a step back in time to the aborted Apollo 13 mission.

This album is like the apollo 13 mission. It all stared off so well, then near the halfway mark it all went wrong. Luckily no one died

Really good but not. Only hello really hits hard.

Impressed at how few tracks I knew from this album. Sweetest Devotion is a banger, instantly my favorite song on the project.

there are a couple bangers on here that I love to belt, but lots of tracks that don't quite resonate with me.

I didn't like it as much as 21, but it was still very good.

So this isn't really my cup of tea, but one cannot deny that Adele is an all time great vocalist. Amazing delivery, great arrangements that showcase the lead vocals without feeling like a nothingburger. The only problem I have with this is treating 25 as if it's some old age where you can look back at nostalgia. Hey girl 25 is young! Anyway deserves a spot on the list.

Adele's voice is definitely the main instrument for most of these songs, and Adele is a great singer. But her voice got repetitive for me after a few songs. I think there's a lot of emotion in her voice but it's kind of the same emotion? I also thought most of the lyrics were generic and boring. Favorite song was I Miss You, that had some good beats. I'd listen to that again. Worst song was Remedy. I've listened to her album 21 because it's one of my mom's favorites, and it's a lot better than this. More diverse lyrics and beats, and more impressive runs/notes hit vocally. I'm surprised that one isn't here.

This album really comes out swinging huh? Not my preferred genre but I can appreciate things about it

I think I might feel differently about Adele if her moment in the sun didn't overlap almost exactly with the period of my life where I was working in restaurants and unable to escape pop radio. It's hard to separate her music from the agony of listening to "rolling in the deep" 25 times a day every single day but I'm trying Adele's delivery is powerful but the production kind of feels like they stuck the vocals into the "make pop song" machine. Polishing the blemishes out of music that is so focused on vocal performance robs it of some personality for me. I really wish there were half stars here - overall I think I like more things about it than I dislike, but a four seems like it'd be overstating it

Big voice, big talent, but this album is a big disappointment. It’s polished and it’s over produced. There are some great tracks - Hello is the clear standout - but it’s very safe and predictable. It’s 21 lite, and it’s not even half as good.

Not my thing but no doubt a good easy listening album

Ja, Gesang ist episch, keine Frage. Aber die Songs sind doch recht generische, repetitive Popsongs :/

Some proper hits and some mediocre songs that have been played way too much on tv. A bit too much drama here and there, for my taste.

Clearly, Adele is a talented singer and songwriter. And the second song here, Send My Love, is a banger, Adele just isn’t for me. I am clearly not the intended audience and would never seek this out without this project.

Great voice. But at some point they all start to sound pretty similar.

Heard all these songs on the radio at least once. There's some catchy songs in here, but Adele isn't really my vibe.

Great voice... some bangers, it's fine

Have on Vinyl: No Fav Song: All I Ask Notes: Great voice just not my style

I can appreciate her voice, not this kinda music just ain't my jam. Not hard to hear how her talents lend themselves to a Vegas residency.

Didnt hate it like I expected I would. 3 stars.

Exceptional voice, but not the best moving content. There's just something about the songs that makes it feel like it's meant to be listened to by people that don't know much about music. Again, Adele has amazing vocal talent, and the production is very well done, but the songwriting leaves something left to be desired. Overall, an enjoyable record.

One hit, but rest is just her voice except for the last song

Most mid album for me, exactly what you would expect is exactly what you get, Facebook globalisation ahh music. This was filled with piano based ballads and some more energetic yet still incredibly radio friendly songs. None of them were bad by any means but nothing I found personally exciting or unique especially as most of these songs were played on the radio back in the day anyway, I think the thing about Adele is that she’s obviously a really good singer and her hits are actually good unlike a lot of constantly played radio songs but delving in her backlog doesn’t really provide too much else in variety which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if you enjoy that kind of thing but I think her voice could be good for a bigger variation of music. Overall, 5/10.

this is just really not my kind of music at the end of the day but i appreciate it for what it is. i only knew “hello” before going into it so i didn’t really have any expectations—it was pleasant to listen to overall. i feel quite neutral about the whole thing although i am able to recognize that she is objectively very talented as a singer. some of the arrangements were pretty cool.

Talented individual but album just isn’t my cup of tea

Pretty nostalgic. All the songs sound kinda similar tho. Her voice is great.

Better than I thought it would be. TikTok songs

Not my cup of tea but a cracking set of pipes

Banger på banger på banger. Er jo ikke den type musikken jeg egentlig hører på men kan ikke lyve, Adele er flink! Men noen sanger synes jeg blir litt kjedelige, litt skrikete.

Nice voice, but pretty tedious music

Just boring. She could do soo many better songs. I found one good song again

25 By Adele is a solid album. It’s class and pain through and through. Themes of commitment and emotional turmoil are peppered from start to finish. Notable standouts, When we Were Young, Water Under the Bridge and Love in the Dark.

Not necessarily bad but it's just so middling and I'm a little sick of Adele's vocal performance due to being overexposed to it around when this album came out, as impressive as it is. I wish I could rate it a 2.5 (hehe) but I'll be nice and round it up to a 3.

I read the negative comments and thought shut up she is amazing, but then on listening I found myself agreeing. It's not her voice it's the quality of the songs, her voice deserves better. "Hello" is amazing but the rest are standard platter. Polymath

Hello is a great lead track but the rest of the album fails to inspire .

No doubt Adele has a great voice & rich, soulful style. The songwriting, composition, production is all solid, however the individual tracks are a bit hit-or-miss for me. Not to mention, it seems to be a theme with Adele that every song is about being a jilted lover. Becomes a bit one-note in that sense. Also.. if her album "19" isn't on this list, but "25" is, that's a shame. Just my two cents.

The affected "soulfulness" of the cursive singing grates on me, even when the pop hooks are undeniable

kraftmikill söngur. ballöður. vel gert en ekki fyrir mig.

I enjoyed 21 more. This is a bit too mid 2010s and overproduced. My opinion could be skewed by how much these songs have been overplayed.

Trying not to be overly influenced by the amazing voice and what she is capable of makes this a 3.

This was really similar to the Coldplay album for me - I totally get why it's a huge hit, it's just not for me.

Listened to this one with my wife today, she remarked that all of Adele’s songs are about regret. overall it fine, she has an amazing voice, albeit a little breathy at times.

I have obviously heard Adele songs before but they have never been to my taste so I have never listened to a whole album of hers before. I would say it is much better than I was expecting it still suffers problems that I have noted in the past like very repetitive, but she does have an incredible voice and lyrics that carry it past its musical challenges to be a solid album. But it needs something more exciting for the length of album that it is to get to the next level.

beautiful voice

Full bodied vocals Sing dramatic, classy pop With a splash of fun

Not as good as 21 but still some bangers

Some great songs, but Send My Love (To Your New Lover) is one of the worst songs ever written. I listened to it again just to see if it was as bad as I remember, but I was wrong - it was so much worse.

who remembers when all new iphones came with this album preinstalled (🙋🏻‍♀️) no it’s not her finest work but i’m a sucker for drama and this album got me thru the immeasurable tragedy that was my elementary school crush going to a different high school (lol)

Adele's vocals have definitely grown on me with this listen, and I'm honestly questioning why I didn't like them in the first place. There we so many amazing songs on this album, the only issue was a few questionable choices in specific songs that made them kind of lackluster, I guess. Favs: Hello, Love In the Dark, Sweetest Devotion Least fav: All I Ask

psychological warfare but in a good way

I love her voice. I saw someone describe it as luscious and it’s the only word I will use. I, for whatever reason, never thought of her as a pop singer until I listened to this album today. I see it now and I wish she had more to say. I wish she were a little messier or gritty. I’ve seen clips from her interviews where she gets raunchy - she has personality. If she brought it to her music, she might feel more dynamic. Her hyper fixation on nostalgia makes me look at her like a republican. I get it, you miss being young (as a 25 year old?), but let’s hear something new.

Perfectly fine. She is a great vocalist, would be killer to hear it live

Adele has an absolutely gorgeous voice and beyond just having a great voice she oozes emotion. You feel all of her past love and sadness. You hear every kiss, fight, makeup and break up. You can't help but fall into the songs and feel every love and sadness in your own life. It is an album that following a break you could easily fall into and drown your sorrows for days. A couple of criticisms, she was 25 years old when she recorded this...yes you can have these feelings at 25, but something about that makes me a little old and cynical, and that you don't really know those feelings that deeply at that age. My other criticism really is emobided in Hello, as a person that was usually the one broken up with this songs hits differnt. Its your ex, that broke up with you because love got comfortable and they decided something new would be so much better. 10 years later they realize they lost the most important thing and just want to 'check in.' Nope, not at all...I moved on and made a better life I don't want you checking in and don't feel bad for you. There are others on the album that give that same vibe and for me, those emotions just frustrate a little.

I still don’t enjoy Adele’s overly showy voice but whomever is writing and producing these songs is mostly nailing it. I’m surprised because i’ve always placed her brand in the wildly overhyped category of my head. Some of these songs drag as expected, but then some of these songs are a genuinely nice surprise.

Never really been one for the Adele hype. Yeah her voice is impressive but for the most part I find her pretty boring. Some good songs on this but I was begging for an upbeat number after 7 slow ones in a row

I’ll admit I groaned when I saw this had been generated. This isn’t really a genre I care for but I was pleasantly surprised at how much better this was than 21. This is the superior album, no questions asked. Still not a genre I like, but these were catchy songs.

I can't say I've ever wanted to listen to Adele, and rolling this album on here hasn't changed much. I'm not a particular fan of piano ballads nor melodramatic overblown choruses. Yes the girl can sing and is probably one of the best at what she does, but what it is puts me to sleep. I'm not too excited to get into this, but might be surprised. Hello Was overplayed when it came out. I think the subtle echo effect on her voice is really cheap. Powerful voice on the chorus. The chorus is overblown, don't like the lyrics. The production is fine, might be a bit much at times. The chorus is the entire song, everything else is just a setup for it. It's a competent enough song, I just don't like it. 2/5 Send My Love (To Your New Lover) The echo effect is back. I appreciate the instrumentation. The first part of the verse is a bit awkward, the rest of it is really good. Stellar production on the chorus, really emphasises the vocal performance, really catchy. Lyrics are pretty standard for this type of love/breakup song. The recording quality is amazing. Quality. 4/5 I Miss You Interesting intro. Empty chorus. The verses have a slight atmosphere to them. I don't have much to say about this song, it just kind of exists. Feels like it's meant to appeal to as many people as possible which to its credit is the point of commercial pop music like this. Does its job competently, Adele sings with a lot of fire and passion and it's produced well on top of her performance. However can't say I care much for it, just not my cup of tea. Fine. 3/5 When We Were Young Another immensly popular piano ballad. She pours a lot of soul into this performance. Really well written chorus. Subtle, but powerful. As far as piano ballads go, probably close to as good as it gets. The powerful final chorus and the emotion in her voice really shines her. Can't say i find anything in particular that I don't like. Good. 4/5 Remedy A fairly standard love song. I like the piano, written and played well. As with all these tracks her voice and her vocal performance is the main point of interest. Would be a really boring track if not for a stellar performance. Fine. 3/5 Water Under the Bridge Livelier and airier (is that a word?) production is breath of fresh air. Well placed in the track listing. Feels a bit empowering. Really large, a powerful chorus which brings a much needed lift of energy after a series of somber, slow, low energy sad or reflective songs. Feels like the production on the final chorus added a bit more colour to what has so far been a very sepia shaded tracklist. Decent. 3.5/5 River Lea Immediately sticks out because the synths in the background in the intro. I think the vocals sit a bit awkwardly in the mix. The lyrics feel personal, they feel fairly authentic. A bit of a nothing chorus. Appreciate it for being something a bit different, even if it doesn't keep my interest for long. Fine. 3/5 Love in the Dark It's another one of the big piano baølsds from this album. I like the hint of strings in the background. Something something poweful voice, something something vocal performance. I think the buildup to the chorus is fantastic. I also really like how great control she has over her performance here. While she has the capacity to belt the entire thing out she chooses a more varied approach which portrays much more complicated emotions. It feels really genuine, I love how she ends the song in a very direct and unceremonial note. Magnificent. 4.5/5 Million Years Ago The guitar adds a bit of down to earthness to the song, has slight classic mediterrarian vibes. Reflective. Doesn't really capture my attention. After a series of somber reflective tracks this one sadly becomes just another one in the pile for me. I however appreciate the difference in musical style. Potentially a grower. Fine. 3/5 All I Ask There's only so much I can say without repeating myself. Yep, that's an Adele song. Average. 2.5/5 Sweetest Devotion I don't care for the verse. The bass on the chorus is really overblown. Passionate, the positive energy coming from this track is a great tone to end the album on. Wraps it up decently. I like the idea of the track more than the track itself. Fine. 3/5 I might've been a bit too harsh in my thoughts prior to listening to the album. This is definitely the most popular album I've reacted to so far in terms of streams, several tracks reaching into or close to the billions. I genuinely see why people like this, it is fantastically well made. An album like this, where everything about it is so thought out and meticulously well crafted has me questioning the way I rate things. The reason why is I honestly don't think a rating scheme of just 1 to 5 stars really comes close to summarizing my thoughts on something like this. Through the course of listening to it I had emotions ranging from intrigued, to bored out of my mind to absolutely amazed. But even in moments of immense boredom I recognized generational talent. The mastery over her voice, and the choices she makes with it is close to perfection, but I just can't find myself wanting to listen to it again. And it's not the production's fault either, as I feel like they're doing a great job, doing exactly what they should, never really overstepping or taking away from the performances. I just don't think this is my type of music. The piano ballads are, well piano ballads which I feel appeals to a specific category of music listener that I'm just not a part of, even if my favourite song from this album ended up being one. The non piano ballads are solid pop songs in their own right, but they're just too smooth, too polished and too serious for my taste. I'm giving this 3 stars, and it probably deserves higher, but I'm basing my ratings on completely subjective metrics. It doesn't feel right, but 3 stars it is. Fave track. Love in the Dark Least fave track. Hello

she got me in the second half ngl. She has an incredible voice but unfortunately i dislike 90% of modern pop including pop ballads so i tire of her popular (radio) songs in the first minute. the songs "love in the dark" "million years ago" and "all i ask" were really nice tho. a lot of songs on this album def suffer from being over played TO ME.

An absolutely phenomenal vocalist, it is a shame she couldn’t find someone to write the songs less generic and mid

I mean, undeniably she has amazing pipes and these songs showcase them. It's not so much my thing, but it's a very well-done pop album and I salute that.

just not for me

She's not too shabby

che bella

Fuck, man, how is this album already 10 years old? Setting my suddenly impending mortality aside, I found this album kinda disappointing. Her voice sounds great, and the production on the album is good overall, but the songs really start to sound samey pretty fast. I think a little more variety in the songs would have gone a long way here. It's not bad overall, but it was hard to stay interested while the album went along 3/5

Vocalperformance muss man kaum drüber sprechen. Schade! Fav Tracks: Remedy, I miss you, Hello, Million Years Ago

It was better than i expected it. Adele's voice is great, but songs are slow, which aren't my thing.

it's not bad, it's just not my thing at all

certified hood classic Dacht dat ik na het luisteren van dit album dood wou dit viel wel mee

I'm glad that Adele got over her stalker stage, Lovely, powerful voice over toned down instrumentals was great. I liked this album more than I expected I would.

"Hello" is a powerful song that serves as an excellent start to this album. Adele has such a huge voice and this album perfectly showcases it and allows her to use it to communicate the emotions that she's feeling in each of the songs. My only issue with the album is that it's kinda the same idea over and over. Yes, she's talented and she's really good at it but some variety would make this a better album in my book.

“The better a singer's voice, the harder it is to believe what they are saying” - David Byrne

Actually enjoyed parts of this much more than I thought I would although found myself getting quite bored with it by the end

Look. Let's be honest, it's Adele. She's a chick with a big voice and some big hits. But that doesn't make it a great album, as all the songs seem to sound the same.

Adele's talent is undeniable, but this was squarely in the era that I really dreaded pop music and that's difficult to reconcile for my rating here. The beginning is full of iconic, overplayed, and frankly boring grand pop songs that were hard for me to get into. But the back half of the album contained many new songs for me, and I enjoyed several of them, particularly Love in the Dark, Million Years Ago, and All I Ask. That 3 song section was worth the listen for me.

I appreciated the varied musical arrangements, and she’s got a great voice, but I just don’t care for it. 3

-**Hello—gotta be in a reflective mood for this but that chorus goes hard. -Send My Love—very 2010s; sounds like a Lorde song; not bad, not great -I Miss You—I can imagine this song being featured on Grey’s Anatomy or similar. 🤷‍♀️ -When We Were Young—bored (gotta be in a mood for this one too) -Remedy—nice message, but is the song good? -*Water Under the Bridge—that’s a foot-tappin’ beat. Like this one. Blasting this in my car soon. -*River Lea—one of those songs where the intro verse, which is like talk-singing, feels too long, when is this song going to start?? But then it gets going with a good chorus. -Love in the Dark—very moody and heart-wrenching. -*Million Years Ago—self-reflecting style; easy listening; reminiscing type of song -All I Ask-when I’m in a sad mood this will hit harder; “it matters how this ends/‘cause what if I never love again?” -*Sweetest Devotion—love the echo-y intro; the melody, lyrical flow, beat etc. Like this one. Adele belting “the sweeeetest devoootion” is great. These song titles are so cheesy 😅 but I did just come from Nirvana & Dire Straits. Adele’s voice is beautiful and emotive. The songs are well (or over?) produced. Nice album. I find myself not quite paying attention to the lyrics so a bit boring or just background music. I can see myself enjoying this more or less depending on how I feel that day. It’s a bunch of love and heartbreak songs. *would download **have heard before 3/5

Adele's incredible vocal talent makes for a great album, and her singing would not be out of place in an opera, but this is a pretty safe pop album. 3⭐️

I'll say the same thing as pretty much everybody else on here. Incredible voice, wish she did more with it. Still an enjoyable album though.

I'm surprised this one was picked instead of 21. Great voice, easy to see the appeal even if it's not a style I usually enjoy.

3.5? Her voice is SO amazing, but then the songs are maybe a bit bland? I feel that’s mean, and her singing is objectively spectacular, but I felt a bit bored. Maybe better as background music?

There's a reason that she's been so successful. Not my jam, but I would leave it on the radio until the next song came on.

Can't deny the vocal abilities that she has even it's not really my style of music.

Of course I knew "Hello" (which is still great) but I'm not sure I was familiar with any others. Overall an enjoyable listen even if nothing else quite hits the high of Hello. 3.5 stars

Another completely new experience for me. There's no arguing that Adele can sing. If I were in a different place in life, I could see these songs hitting pretty hard. Thankfully, I'm not. Though not in relevant resonance with me, it's still a very strong work of art. Maybe a 3.5? Tell you what, I'll do Adele a favor and round down so that she has some new material to lament about on her next album.

Hello is much worse than I remembered. Skip that and you have a good album of musings of a woman who has it all except the respect of a man. Yes, that doesn't sound very different from 21. No, that doesn't matter much.

Obviously she's got a fantastic voice and both the song writing and production on the album are fabulous. It deserves to be on this list for sure: not even close. But, as with 21 - which I got just over a month ago – it leaves me cold. A hit with algorithms, AI, wedding DJs, and colour designers who enjoy beige. There's plenty of torch song passion, but no *passion*. It seems odd that both of these albums have fallen out of the book in more recent editions. I'm not sure that's entirely deserved, given some of the shite that's in it. This is pleasant. But I just don't like it.

All-time voice; not an all-time album. Talent may speak for itself, but so does craft, subtlety, a diversity of sound, and expressive language, all of which this album has only some of the time, and not all that convincingly. But she can sing so damn well that her underachievements are now and then compensated for. She'll go down as an all-time great b/c her vocal abilities are, in fact, incredibly rare, and she has composed some pregnant, memorable songs. On this one: 'I Miss You,' 'River Lea,' 'Love in the Dark,' 'Million Years Ago,' 'Sweetest Devotion.' And yet, the whole gestalt lacks.

I heard this album one or two times when it came out and dismissed it as boring, frustrated by the slow tempos I felt occupied the entire album. This hit me now differently. I haven't listened to Adele in a long time. What a beautiful, powerful voice. I'm astonished at her control. I'm not surprised she stood out when I caught an early TV performance. I enjoyed this album a lot more this time than I did 9 years ago. It doesn't have any of my favorite Adele songs on it, but 25 does have the one that got so big it became a joke, even being lampooned by SNL. And hearing it now and really listening to it, I was really impressed by "Hello." 25 is not always my thing, but is impressive the whole way through.

I think Adele is a much better singles artist than an albums artist - to me, "Hello" and "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" are two of the best singles, period, from the past ten years. Adele's voice is undeniably unique and incredibly strong, but I strangely haven't been able to connect to most of her non-single songs. Personally, she has always seemed too mature, too unreachable, perhaps, for her age. It's a bit strange, for example, that she's singing about her divorce and wishing being younger at 25. I mean, when I was 25, I was still feeling like a lost child trying to navigate this messy world, but maybe that's just me.

Great album that obviously deserves to be on this list.

Hello is a great song. But the rest fall short, so opening up with that song makes the rest of the album less exciting

Simple instrumentation. Solid vocals and writing. Liked track 2, pretty powerful and track 4. Pop that is somewhat timeless with the simple piano selections. Mr. Gum.

A great voice but I just don't have any interest in any of the songs, except Hello and Remedy. 3 stars or C+.

I enjoyed this record and there are some killer vocals on display here, but most of the songs are too mellow for my liking. If she leaned more into a soulful sound, I think it would take her music to the next level.

Not a massive Adele fan, but she's good at what she does. Some of the deeper cuts were surprisingly great. ('I Miss You', 'Sweetest Devotion')

Sometimes, Adele just stops me in my tracks and I have to listen. But then it goes away. More of a Dusty Springfield guy, I guess. You can't deny that she's really, really good, of course. I have nothing but respect, and I wish I liked it more.

I like Adele but she puts so much emotion into every song that it was too much for me. There was almost change in pace of the songs. 2.5

I really enjoy listening to Adele! This album was a bit somber and samey for me, but the songs that hit really hit. Overall, I'll go with 3.5 stars.

Sweetest Dovation is alfa. The rest is fine. 3.5

Enjoyable 3.5

Better than I thought it would be. Some decent songs here. 3 a little low but probs marginally closer to a 3 than a 4

♥️

Great voice, some OK singles but every song is perpetual heartbreak. A stocking gift for mums

Great album. Not my typical type of music, but I enjoyed the entire album. Adele has a magical voice and is easy to listen to. This album definitely deserves to be on the list.

Το είχα ακούσει και όταν είχε βρει, έχει κάποια αξιόλογα κομμάτια

A few stars have the voice of an angel. Adele has the voice of a goddess. The fact that I can stay engaged in this mediocre collection of songs with its Adult-Oriented-Pop production is a testament to her astonishing talent.

The vocals and instrumentals

I mean, great voice and good songs, but would never be my go-to.

Great voice. Never knew her albums were titled after her age at the time of recording…about the current state of her life. Clever. 60 should be an interesting one.

It’s good but compared to her previous effort, 21, it’s both less consistent and less interesting.

I knew more songs than I thought I would. Not an album or genre I’d seek out, but I would listen again.

Adele's voice is undoubtly incredible and unique, but I can't say the same for the instrumentos. Sometimes, I feel like this is a product from that time, as it takes me back to 2015. And that's about it. Also, I want to point out that 'Send My Love' feels too much like a Imagine Dragons song, and I do believe too that the album cover is really bad. It makes me feel uncomfortable as it seems like her head was chop off.

She's great - the album was fine

It's certainly not bad, but I'm unsure how this is one of the best?

Dit is natuurlijk super groot geweest terwijl ik tiener was. Daardoor heb ik het al te vaak gehoord, het sparkt geen joy of interesse, het is comfort myziek

Adele feels weird for me to encounter here. Among music I am familiar with, this is the most recently released album the project has served to me thus far. I enjoy her voice, and I think most of these songs are pretty good, but they aren't among my favorite of her work. "Hello" was memed to death within days of its release, and it's hard to take some of the emotional pleas seriously after that. Listening through the whole album for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised by the tracks I hadn't heard before, but unfortunately the tracks that did receive a lot of radio play just end up reminding me of the lousy jobs I had at that time. I considered picking "Hello" for my playlist (despite thinkingof that Star Wars parody everytime I hear it, it is a good song), but "Sweetest Devotion" really stood out to me at the end of the album. Altogether it is an enjoyable listen- but not one that I feel strongly about.

21 better

Fav: When We Were Young Least Fav: I Miss You Adele doesn’t do much wrong per say, but it’s the lack of originality that’s holding her down

Bit sad and slow

She’s got a great, soulful but authentic voice; it’s impressive how she can channel who she clearly really is herself, while wearing her influences right on her sleeve. This is not a style of music I really enjoy but I’ve appreciated it and respect the quality of the songcraft and the talent. Don’t mind hearing it again but probably won’t seek it out.

Her voice is great, but I find it hard to connect with the songs

Awesome voice. Aside from one or two songs that are great, the rest are just a little ho hum for me.

Thoughts before listening: Adele has an amazing voice and in sure I'll know the hits from this album. This will be fine...probably the definition of a 3-star album in that it's not really my thing but I can't deny that it's good. Review: This is what I thought it would be. A few bangers I knew were by Adele ("Hello"), a few songs I recognized but didn't realize Adele songs ("Send My Love (To Your New Lover)"), and a bunch of filler. In general the filler was enjoyable because of Adele's voice and just the fact that power ballads about relatable subjects is hard to hate on. 3-stars

Didn’t like this as much as the other Adele album we’ve had. The songs were kinda blah overall, except for I Miss You and Hello, although I’m a bit weary of the latter. Had high hopes for the Danger Mouse track River Lea, but alas, it didn’t do it for me.

are we sure? are we absolutely sure u need to hear this before u die? are we like Sure sure? over any of her other albums even??? almost inevitably there are moments where everything lines up right: the great timbre of adele's voice sings what just happens to be a genuinely moving melodic twist which just happens to be lined up with an effectively bittersweet worldweary lyric and its all washed over with that big echoy pop soul cathedral production. unfortunately it happens less for me than id like (tho more than i expected based on the tbh kinda drab and inert famous singles), and the Maturity here in place of the melodrama i remember from 21 kinda dulls the emotional colors all over the place. fair enough ig and im mom-coded enough to give this a passing grade but im sure she can do more vivid and distinctive work than this. at least its better in her vocal chords than it would be in many others

+ Beats sind ziemli abwechslungsrich + Natürliche, echti vocal performance (v.a. ihres falsetto & lower Register gfallt mer) + d Ballade - Bide weniger ruhige / lüüteri Lieder het ihri stimm für mich epis chli zu usequetschts - find d stimm versinkt amal chli im mix

It's alright. 3/5

Capital m Music, her voice was impactful then grew grating and then circled back around to perfectly fine if I can turn it off. I’d love to hear her sing in her home away from a stage. Still her songs have spirit and I really gravitate towards some of the production. If this had more granular rating, would be the highest of 3s

可能还是更喜欢前一张专那种关乎生命的爆发力

A voice like Adele's deserves much better songs

Solid.

Good!! Adele!!!

No doubting the voice but it lack subtlety. It seems to get to shouty and stay there. The producers certainly got a performance but they didn't get spine tingling songs.

Like, it's fine. Except for Send My Love, I find most of these songs unobjectionable. I like Hello and a couple of the deep cuts, but the overall experience is just so unremarkable. 2.5/5

Eine große Stimme in glatt produzierten Liedern. Mir ist es etwas zu sehr massenkompatible Musik. Und höre ich da nicht immer wieder so einen Schunkelrhythmus?

Powerful opening, big sad middle, and good last song

Phenomenal Comeback!

could i write poetry to this? n

Send My Love is my favorite Adele song. Water under the bridge is OK. Everything else is blah.

Never really been a fan of Adele. I can appreciate her writing & voice. She seems to have gone through some heartbreaking times in order to achieve her hit, after hit albums. I did however, love 'A Million Years Ago' it has a very melodic 'Beatles' feel to me. I'd love her to have happier albums but maybe she's more suited to heartbreak?

Wow! That voice is incredible. She could probably sing shitty Tweets and it would be worth listening to. The first 2 tracks are amazing. I personally really like "Send My Love". It is maybe my favorite Adele track of all time. After that it is all pretty much the same but that voice carries everything. I probably won't reach for this album again but I will listen to the first 2 tracks many more times.

Eh ok I guess couple of good tunes but gets a bit boring after a while

this is good stuff, but it felt a little more formulaic than her previous work

It’s undeniable that Adele has an incredible voice. The album was easy to listen to and beautiful, and I recognized and liked several of the songs, especially Send My Love. That being said, I don’t think I’ll listen to it again in its entirely. It did get a bit boring after a few songs. Just kind of faded into the background. I know people love Adele, she’s wonderful, just not my cup of tea. I can’t give her less than 3 stars though, because she does have a fantastic voice.

There were songs that I really liked but not enough.

This album is much more pop-oriented, with highly polished production. Adele is an extremely good vocalist, but this album didn't resonate with me as much as "21" which was far superior. 25 had less soul and R&B influences than "19" and "21" did.

It's an Adele album. Powerhouse vocals, but not a lot of variety. It's enjoyable but not interesting.

Yes, she can sing, it's just that it sounds like a distressed seal.

i have some of these songs on my playlist and i don't even know why anymore

Fine. I get swept up in some of the songs. It’s at least as good as her previous album, I think. Still not really my thing, but it’s good enough for a 3.

She has a beautiful voice, but most of the music itself didn't make me feel much. It feels safe and a bit boring. Favorites: "Hello", "When We Were Young", "River Lea"

A solid album, showcasing Adele's powerful voice. A bit letdown that she's still on the heartbreak train of her fantastic album 21.

strong voice, but rather one-dimensional songs

Lawd, why does every song sound the same? It sounds fine and all and lyrically this thing is great, but I would love for her to switch it up a bit.

she can sing, but this music is boring

Full of classics

Okaish Pop soul. Tremendous voice but after 21 the bar is high.

Undeniably, Adele is one of the finest vocalists around, and is in contention for top British vocalist of all time in my opinion. This is a good album that showcases her phenomenal ability, but I think it lacks any real depth. There is a lot of sentimentality, which I think one should expect from Adele. I like sentimentality, but only in doses. I think the album bordered on samey at parts. Good Sunday morning listening, I think. The production is good. Highlights: Hello When We Were Young River Lea

nice for the melancholy-minded

Adele’s debut album. Hello is a highlight to start off but find the rest of the album less inspiring. Hard to follow the lead act.

It's not for me. That said, I can see the appeal. If you are a 16 year old girl who is heartbroken after breaking up with their boyfriend of two months, this album is for you. Hits you right in the feels (again, only if criteria mentioned above is met). Adelle is clearly an amazing vocalist, but instrumentally, there is not much going on. Which leads to a snooze fest and all the songs sounding the same to me. But I can recognize the appeal.

Not my cup of tea, a bit samey imo. 2.5/5 stars.

Amazing voice, fab production. It's all just a bit overwhelming in drama and emotion.

Adele is definitely a gifted singer. I love her lower register. I didn't have a problem sitting through this album but it was kind of boring and it's not my kind of thing. This isn't anything I would seek out on my own.

For the record, this album was released when Adele was 25 years old. I've always had mixed feelings about Adele. In one way, she has an excellent singing voice, and is obviously talented. On the other hand, many of her songs tend to "blend in", if you know what I mean. They don't stick out much, and can be a bit boring. This album starts out strong, but unfortunately, dies off as it goes on. It was okay. Favorite Song: "Send My Love(To Your New Lover)".

This is kind of like extreme metal for me: I like it, but there are very few situations where I feel like listening to it. Adele is a great singer who work with talented people. The ideas for the songs are usually pretty interesting, but the ideas are never developed as much as they could have been. The majority of these songs contain about as much creative material as a 30 second section of a Genesis or Yes tune.

I’m happy this was one of the 1001 albums I listened to before I died.

Great voice. Hello was so over played it’s nice to listen to it fresh and remember what a good song it is. I thought it was going to be a 4 until I listened through it and found some of it formulaic compared to 21 or 19

Not my kind of music. Great voice though.

Puntos altos: When we were Young (Dios mio hermana, que canción), All i ask (Destreza pura), Millon years ago (un bossa?)

Day 42 - September 9th Not an Adele fan, but there were enjoyable tracks. 3/5

Same old same old, which is great if you like Adele, which I do so yay for me.

Not bad, as to be expected, but emotionally jaded. Would have wished for more joy, silliness, and fun, or even real sadness, desperation, or rage. All I get from this album is a very mature rational distance to all things, very well sung onto uninspiring ballad tunes.

Okay, but I’m not a huge fan of Adele’s voice.

My colleague loves Adele. When 19 came out it was unique and cool and was also my Kate Nash era. Now its fine. She's and incredible singer. But the constant over the top vocal theatrics and sameness just get to be too much. I'll stick to hearing the occasional single and maybe switching channels depending on my mood.

Didn’t really want to listen to this, but she’s got a really good voice!

Undeniably great voice, not super thrilled with the backing music - could have been anything.

Bit dull

She’s a really good singer. But not something I’d put on.

Hello from the other side. I’ve heard Adele’s popular stuff but not much more. I liked it fine but probably wouldn’t actively pursue listening to it

I can't say it was bad; her talent and voice are amazing. It just felt like it was missing something. 3/5

Rating: 6/10 A more poppy album than 21, which is not necessarily a bad thing but definitely sounds more derivative than its predecessor. Adele excels at her trademark soul sound, which this album has but not nearly as much as 21. There are a few fantastic songs here but many that fall flat. Best songs: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), I Miss You. Worst song: All I Ask.

semaluhtounuyulohowwah

Best Song: All I Ask. I like the way she has the piano mirroring parts of her vocal melodies. Worst Song: Sweetest Devotion. Don't know that it's the worst, but it just really didn't need to be here. Overall: She obviously has a powerful and impressive voice, but I found myself sometimes wishing that she reigned it in a bit more. This probably isn't a fair criticism, because that vocal power is a big part of her appeal- and I get it - but sometimes that it felt too repetitive knowing that each song was inevitably going to soar to some towering height. I wish there were a few totally soft-sung songs here to break up the consistency, and let the big songs sound bigger through the contrast. That said, her voice is great and the production is solid throughout.

No es mi favorito.

So many great songs on this album.

Starts really strongly, those first two tracks are superb. But it's all a bit too safe, the songwriting isn't as raw as on previous albums and the ramped up production doesn't help there. Her voice remains absolutely fabulous, but a lot of it, particularly towards the back end of the album, sounds quite samey. Think it merits a 3 given the strength of her voice and a couple of iconic songs, but it's definitely disappointing from someone with her talent.

It's funny to see the Global Reviews whenever you're assigned a pop album. You hardly ever see tepid, lukewarm reviews; it's either a straight 5 or 1. Rarer still are reviews that actually grapple with the music itself. Like many of you, I too had contempt for pop music (back in like, middle school), thinking that it was insipid and craven. And some pop music is, but even then, it still says something about The Times We Live In. Now I find I'm someone who has a hard time keeping up with most pop music, which I realize is to my own detriment. Adele always seemed to be one of the few pop artists that managed to reach across the aisle. That may be due to the aesthetic sensibilities and overt influences found in her earlier records that sought to usher in the 60s jazz-soul resurgence in the early 2000s. '21' - her previous album and the era that truly marked her musical dominance - was rife with this particular sounds that rendered her music as bearing more authenticity than her pop counterparts, at least seemingly so. Like "Rolling in the Deep," "Hello" was a monster of a lead single. I remember this song was absolutely everywhere. Its premiere was like, a massive global event. And truly, everyone loved this song: your mom loved this song, your grandmother loved this song, your boss loved this song. SNL had like 200 sketches about it. Everyone sang "hello from the other siiiiiide!" as a meme for even the most mundane things. It's a powerful single and a powerful way to start the album. Probably a test for a listener to see if you can endure Adele's Whole Vibe, especially on this new record. "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" summarizes the album's thesis, which is about living life as someone in your mid-20s, when you start to think "we both know we're not kids anymore." Bruce Springsteen said the same thing on "Thunder Road" and he wrote that song when he was 24. This track has that classic Max Martin bouncy chorus with an effective and catchy breakdown of the words, syllable by syllable. Truly, the rest of the album peters out for me and is nowhere near as consistent as '21.' Some pained singing that at times resonate and at other times feel just screechy. I would point out "A Million Years Ago" as a highlight and man, I do wish Adele would do songs of an understated quality a little bit more. B+

some bangers, extremely popular album

One and a half great songs, and no clunkers, but generally not something I'd put on repeatedly.

Baaarely three stars though. Adele got a tremendous voice (duh) and I like several of the songs, but holy hell does it get weary with how repetitive and melodramatic it is on the subject of love and about aging (from a 25-year-old!).

Great voice. Good songs.

Hello 3.3 Send My Love (To Your New Lover) 3 I Miss You 3 When We Were Young 3.2 Remedy 2.9 Water Under the Bridge 3.1 River Lea 3.1 Love in the Dark 3 Million Years Ago 2.8 All I Ask 2.9 Sweetest Devotion 3.2 Score: 3.045454545

She sold a lot of records, and there are some pretty songs on this album, but I don't really see the appeal. I like much more dynamic music, with rhythm and swing and bass and energy and edge and quirkiness. I can't argue with the musicianship, or production, but it's not for me.

I find it fascinating how Adele begins this album. The opening line, "Hello, it's me," the realm of the character in the song and addresses the listener directly: this is Adele, the powerhouse, the voice of heartbreak. Overall, I really enjoyed this album, but I don't see a coherent concept that justifies releasing a whole album instead of just singles. Still, solid.

Damn, some pipes on Adele. Okay, so I’m a hater, sop-pop is garbage, no one can change my mind. I thought this list was made in 2005 so was surprised to see Adele’s mug staring into my soul first thing in the morning. That’s my take anyway, but 50,000,000 Elvis fans can’t be wrong. This album and these songs were on everyone’s ears and everyone’s mouths growing up, a massive impact on the charts gan dabht. I didn’t absolutely hate it, just does nothing. The backing music in the finale, The Sweetest Devotion, was pretty sweet. A Million Years Ago

looking at the writers' credits for this album was an education in the who's who of pop production. Max Martin, Greg Kurstin, Bruno Mars, even Rick Rubin who was unimpressed by an earlier version of the album. Following up 19 (my personal favourite of hers) and 21 was always going to be difficult, and Adele claimed she suffered writer's block for years. Working with those at the forefront of pop production always helps! But ultimately I think this falls a bit flat compared to her older stuff. Less soul behind it. Of course, vocal performance as always was stunning, but it was brought down by "safe" songwriting and an overly-pop feel (I understand why she went further down that route though - the album was credited with saving the pop music industry the year it came out!). Also interesting to note that all the other big names in pop music (apart from Coldplay) rescheduled release dates to avoid chart competition with Adele. Some power! Favourite songs: When We Were Young (co-written with Tobias Jesso Jr.) Love in the Dark (co-written with Samuel Dixon) Million Years Ago (co-written with Greg Kurstin) All I Ask (co-written with Bruno Mars and his entourage - and it indeed sounds like a quintessential Bruno Mars song...) Sweetest Devotion (co-written with Paul Epworth, some nice instumentals on this one) I hope that this is not the only Adele album they chose for this list. If it is, I really wonder why 19 or even 21 weren't chosen instead. 3.3*

i liked it but it wasn’t all that i hoped

Not a huge fan of this kind of pop ballad-y type of stuff. But give Adele credit for an amazing performance

Well produced pop music. She’s got a great voice, but all songs are pretty similar. Hope she gets a good boyfriend and heals her heart soon

Nice voice. lame songs

This album came out during my junior year of high school (probably the worst year of my entire life) so returning to it is interesting. I’m not old enough to be able to associate most of the other albums on this list with a specific time in my life. I was surprised how “meh” this album is. Adele is an incredible vocalist, but much of the music on this album sounds like royalty free travel vlogger music. I feel like 21 is a much better Adele album, so if this is her only entry on the list, I’m surprised this is the one they went with.

A classic

it’s a decent pop record with meh production

I've always been a fan of Adele, and this album is probably her best. She is a vocal powerhouse, no doubt. I'm not convinced she is musically notable or brings much innovation.

Adele has a great voice, but after several songs I can't handle the intense vibrato

Adele has such a great voice, but her music just comes across as a bit boring to me. Send My Love and Water Under the Bridge both slap, but the ballads just sort of run together for me.

Hello is a really good song. Well written , engaging lyrics and performed super well. Since that song was ubiquitous when it came out, I don’t think I really listened to it. Really subverts expectations The rest of the album is ok, not much my style.

not moving

Hello, it's me, writing a review. Adele is such a solid singer. I remember walking around griffith park one day and thought someone was blasting Adele on the loudspeaker but she was actualy doing a soundcheck for her PBS special live. Her voice was so good I thought it was a professional recording. Now the stories over and onto this record. I think it's pretty good. I'll always be nostalgic for 21 since that's the one I remember loving but otherwiseeeeeeeee it feels like a rehash of that style. Some epic florence and the machine style instrumentation, some classy singer songwriter stuff. Remedy and All I Ask are cool. She carries it really with her voice for better or worse.

okay so this was a difficult one to rate because i really thought that it was excellent musically and lyrically and those typical marks of a good album but i just didnt enjoy it one of the most prominent examples of music i know is good but dont like and i completely understand anyone who thinks this is a 5 star album because it has everything for that i am just not a fan i think i would like to listen to more just to make sure i feel this way about adele as a whole and not just this album

Not sure if her other albums are on this list (yet) but this isn't my favourite of her's. She's still so talented but this one is kind of boring.

I listened to it. I didn't love it. I just didn't fell that it spoke to me.

I liked this a lot better than I thought I would. 3

Obviously carried by Adele's vocal performances but becomes way too repetitive, making it a little annoying to get through.

Voimapoppia valtavilla palkeilla. Jylhää on! 3/5

Tää oli yllättävän kelpo

Ihan kelpo pop-levyhän tämä. Vähän itseään toistava mut menköön nyt kolmosella eteenpäin.

first listen in entirety. But I felt like I knew all the songs already anyway. It's good, very solid and enjoyable. Not sure if I'll ever come back to it tho.

Disappointing, quite boring and repetitive despite some incredible performances.

This sounds so much like 21 I had to make sure I had not already listened to this one.

I mean I like Adele and all but this one is a little hard to get through for me. Not quite jiving with me.

I liked 21 a lot more, defiantly had its moments but didn’t live up to 25

B Hello 3 Send My Love (To Your New Lover) 4 I Miss You 3 When We Were Young 4 Remedy 3 Water Under The Bridge 4 River Lea 3 Love In The Dark 4 Million Years Ago 4 All I Ask 4 Sweetest Devotion 3 Always been my least favorite Adele album. Too mainstream.

Surprisingly disappointed. Nothing really hit me. Love in the Dark was good tho. River Lea is fine. Then Hello is Hello, but that’s it. All I Ask is hard tho, might be better than Hello. But album over all I kinda expected better. Ok Sweet Devotion is amazing, way better than Hello. Fuck these last few tracks saved the album.

as far as pop music goes, this one wasn't too bad. Hard to listen to it all at once since she's always belting out the lyrics.

Hello Send My Love (To Your New Lover) When We Were Young Water Under The Bridge River Lea

Generational Voice and Hello will always be timeless but entire thing is not really my style and is corny at times

No es 19 ni 21 pero bueno tiene buenas power ballads y eso lo que Adele puede ofrecer

I mean, if you like big voices and power ballads, but I can only take so much.

She's certainly got an impressive set of pipes on her. But other than her singing voice, I find the music a bit unmemorable.

Great vocalist

You can’t deny the quality here, but it’s not my cup of tea

Adele has a beautiful, unique voice, but for some reason I don’t really like her songs. I can’t put my finger on why, but I always feel as though her voice is being underutilized. Maybe the songwriting is just bad and she needs better songs. Also, maybe don’t sing so much lamenting your youth when you’re only 25.

A technical marvel voice that doesn't catch me to the dizzying hype heights.

Adele is always pretty great vocally, but the question is, are the hooks there? Not too many here, but the ones that are are pretty great.

The third of her four albums which, in my opinion, get gradually worse. She clearly has a wonderful voice, but the songs feel a bit "play it safe", and don't do much apart from show off her pipes. She had so much potential on her first couple of albums, and it just all feels quite "corporate" by this point. Doesn't help that she had such bother with her voice I suppose, and she has had (and will continue to have) a great career, but I was kind of expecting more from her, in terms of how good she could have been. Sometimes the 'music' as an art can be secondary to the 'business' side of the music business. The story of Adele should be a cautionary tale, but I worry some young artists will see "selling more records" as better than "making the best records you can". Judged solely on its merits, it probably deserves 4 stars, but based on how much I loved her first album (and liked her second), she should have been making 5 star albums by this point!

Very good songs, but very repetitive

I did not expect to like this album as much as I did. Love surprises like this!

A couple of real bangers here (hello, send my love) and i think it’s overall a nice album, but it’s not genre I particularly am drawn to. Probably wouldn’t listen start to finish again.

I liked 19 and 21 very much. This one is not as good. Not really bad, but not list worthy. Favorite song: Send My Love.

After being surprised by how much I liked 21, 25 was a bit more predictable. Sure it was about heartbreak and yes Adele’s voice was boomeing but it just didn’t have the staying power of her previous album.

Adele does have one of the most distinctive voices of recent years and she has certainly made the most of heartache and relationship challenges. I expected to not really "enjoy" this recording but I came away appreciating her talent. Of course, there isnthe song "Hello" to begin this album. There is absolutely nothing I can say more about this song as there is not a person on earth who has not heard it. A pleasant surprise was the last song on the album, "Sweetest Devotion".

Finishing a great weekend with back to back albums.. first up Adele. Must be said that I appreciate Adele’s thing of naming albums after her age; with the songs telling the story of her life at her current age. Cool stuff! I found the opener overrated when it came out, and I still find Hello a bit anti-climactic and it surprises it was such a big single.. That being said, the 3 track run that follows it (Send My Love, I Miss You, and When We Were Young) are really brilliant - such a powerful voice and great music behind it. Remedy is where things slow down a little but it is still a good listen, definitely demands full listening attention but doesn’t justify having it as much as the previous few songs. Million Years Ago is a good song too. I do think the Adele formula grows a bit stale on me over the course of 11 songs but I think it remains consistently decent - and the quality of tracks 2, 3, and 4 can’t be denied! Very curious to see everyone else’s reviews for this one :)) Favourite track: I Miss You

I really wished I got Adele, for my partner's sake, but she just doesn't really do it for me. It just feels a bit empty to me, despite the subject matter being apparently very emotional. Compare this to Bjorks vespertine for example and they're a world apart. One tugs on the heart strings, this just sits in the background until your realise you're still listening to it. I think I preferred it to her earlier 21 album, but given that was relatively forgettable I'm not too sure.

extremely competent

Her greatest hits album would be a banger.

lots of vocal talent but thats it

Better than expected, Varied,

No denying she has a great voice, but the songs don’t compare to other great singers. It’s not a bad album, it’s just also not particularly an interesting album. Meh.

Adele has a great voice, but most of the songs are a bit vanilla. It makes good background noise, but I doubt I would ever just sit and listen to it.

Mmmm difficult. Adele has undoubtedly got a wonderful voice and the songs are well crafted and produced but...... Listening to 21, 25 and 30 the songs are pretty indistinguishable. There's not really any attempt to try something different.

3.5/5 - I do love Adele but I cannot listen to a lot of slow songs in a row bc it makes me sad Standout tracks: - Million years ago 4/5 - Sweetest devotion 4/5 - All I ask 4/5 (I sobbed)

S’ok

The album has two gears. One where I’m completely in tune with what Adele is singing. The other where I’m not vibing at all. There is no in-between. I still enjoy it more than I don’t. But there are a handful of tracks that are very skippable. 3.5/5

Enjoyed it. Voice is amazing as always. Nothing crazy in terms of creativity, just good stuff.

Inte lyssnat på Adele så mycket tidigare. Men jag hör ju att det är bra. De två första låtarna är riktiga bangers men jag vet inte. Det fastnar ändå inte riktigt. Water Under The Bridge är skivans bästa låt. Det är något med vemodet som bara får mig deprimerad på ett deppigt sätt. Jag vill verkligen gilla Adele eftersom hon är grym på sången men det når inte ända in. Jag respekterar hennes talang och musikalitet. Det blir en 3a.

listening to the albums on this list has made me like Adele less. I think she has an incredible voice but her songs are pretty bland to me. some songs are still nostalgic and I like them.

6.5/10 - The songs that are popular are popular for a reason. They are good her voice is great and they tell a decent story. The songs that are not popular are not popular for a reason, they are just fine. Overall a decent album but not something I will probably listen to on a daily basis. If they came on on the radio I would sing along but I am not turning it on.

Did not know this album was on here. Obviously have heard a few of the songs, but none have ever really stuck out to me in the sea of generic corporate sounding pop music, and none stood out on this listen either. Reading that review back makes it seem like I hated this. I didn't, it's just kinda bland, especially for pop music 6/10

Probably 3.5 - lots of very good songs, Send My Love being my favorite.

Favourite song - when we were young

21 was better but this was still good.

Yep. Another decent album by Adele

Enjoyed this. 3.36

Never listened to the whole album, was better than expected. I prefer the more bigger production songs than ones with less instrumentation.

It's an enjoyable album if you are in the mood. Unfortunately Adele has been very overplayed so her voice/style gets old quite quickly for me. Good songs though.

So much talent. So incredibly safe and boring. Yes, "Hello" is a great track. "Water Under the Bridge" is more interesting than the rest of the album, but that's about it. Take a chance, do something less safe.

Fine, not my cup of tea but Adele's voice is impressive as always

She old

I am conflicted, Adele has an amazing voice and no doubt is an incredible musician, but her songs off this album are just miss after miss for me. Too slow and verges on whiny, although there are a couple of very big hits on this. Rolling in the Deep was and still is my favorite song by her but none of it comes close ilunfortunately.

Bit too AOR for me.

Clearly very talented but didn't do a lot for me, I'll give this a 3

Adele is more palatable than the average adult pop

I like this album a lot. Adele has a great voice and her lyrics tend to hit my spots.
