Pièces préférées: I Miss You, River Lea, Million Years Ago

About 4 years better than the last one.
Great singer but it doesn’t grab me where it matters and the whole thing just passed me by in a gentle sameness.
I've heard at least one of these songs before, but ended up liking the album more than expected.
I recognize her talents. Amazing pipes, great lyrics. Yet, the music (chord structure, instrumentation) just isn’t very interesting in the end.
This is not on my copy of the list, once again putting on full display the absurd turn around time for new albums getting tossed on the list and then relegated to the dustbin. The single is a banger, but Adelle is a talent for making bangers. I've never bothered to give an album of hers a deep dive. Momcore isn't exactly a go-to genre for me, although I guess I'm glad there's someone out there not bad carrying the torch for Cher and Melissa Ethridge. I'm about halfway through at this point and, unfortunately, the singles are carrying this album pretty hard. Final verdict: A few standout moments but overall not essential.
Nice
I prefer the white-hot angry Adele of 21 over the blue regret-filled Adele of 25, but it’s still a nice listen.
I really tried but I found this bland. Three stars as she must be doing something I am missing and her voice is something special
13th May 2022 no idea what’s going on with dates Listened during the day while working from home, went to the pub with Cox to watch the north London derby. Not Adele’s best, but hello is a classic and there are some very moving songs on here. One of the great modern voices.
Sure
her voice is incredible and its wild how popular this became. Lots of praise for specialty production but not in a way that I can super recognize....humbling lol.
My greatest respects to Adele. She's a wonderful singer songwriter but, some songs haven't grow very well with me in this album . If you heard them too many times you don't want to hear them again for a long long time while some others are just mediocre to typically good . At least she doesn't cheat by using autotune like many others of her age and that is plus. Overall a good album 3.5
Not really my thing personally if I'm being honest but I can still definitely respect her vocal talents and the songwriting quality of this album. I don't know if I'd seek it out but I wouldn't complain if it was on.
Couldn't bring myself to listen, I can do without the diabetic shock. I liked it back in the day, but I'm as far from torch ballads as I can be at the moment
I suspect this is slightly over-rated.
Pop, soul. Melódico. Aburridito.
A good album but not nearly as great as her first, IMO. Feels much more over produced. Has more of a pop sentiment and is less soulful. Still... she's pretty amazing.
Good for what it is, plus a couple singles that belong on her greatest hits collection
Although the mood of the album can feel interminably conservative to the point of bleeding and blurring into each other, 25 showcases Adele doing what Adele does best: conveying heart, soul, emotion and regalia in her music. One can understand why this became a smash once it dropped six and a half years ago. Favorites: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), Remedy, River Lea, Love in the Dark, A Million Years Ago.
Pretty standard pop diva stuff. For some reason she seems to appeal to me more than most of the others, not sure why but I think she has a touch of I due in her. 3 🌟
Voz espectacular femenina con un gran timbre. Canciones muy bien elaboradas. Para amantes de grandes voces.
Obviously very talented but not for me
I guess I was surprised by how many songs I actually knew from this album without knowingly listening to it before ("Hello", "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)", "When We Were Young"). That's what being the second best selling album of the 2010 decade does: makes you a major staple of the pop culture. It's hard not appreciate the talent: a searing, powerful, soulful voice. Most songs are extremely dramatic and about relationships and regrets. They tend to be the former state of a relationship not necessarily a story. Working with superstar producers and writers, the production and songs sound great. On the critique side if that ene matters, most of the songs and structures are formuliac and the album tends to drag in the second half. The exception is the last song, "Sweetest Devotion", which might have been my favorite song on the album..traditional rock band structure, great backing vocals and especially her voice. l do like her next album "30" better which I'm sure is also in my future.
Obviously talented. Enjoyed 'Send My Love' and 'All I Ask'. The rest is a bit boring, and I can't handle that much sad/soppiness in one go. Needs cheering up a bit.
Incredible voice but could do with cheering up a bit. Moan moan moan.
Does little for me but hard to say she's not brilliant.
Still beautiful and powerful singing, but also a lot of anonymous fillers
She’s a damn good singer and I appreciate that her songwriting is deeply expressive without being so blatantly dirty laundry airing the way that idiot Taylor Swift’s is. This isn’t the kind of music I like to listen to, but I have a lot of respect for her tremendous talent. The album feels too repetitive in tone as it goes on to really give me what I need to be converted to a fan.
Top bird with a cracking set of... Lungs.
ok sygt
Fuld fløde, klaver, god vokal
Adele sings well.
Pop vocal is just not my wheel house, so I sm most certainly NOT the one to judge this albums artistic merit. For me this album sounds generic in its pop vocal performance. Her voice is sublime there is no doubt but you better bring more to the table than a pretty voice to catch my ear. First off ballad after ballad makes for a boring listen for me. When she does open up a little like on Send My Love...it sounds like rip off of the Lorde hit from 2 years earlier. I'm not an Adele officialdom but I've never heard anything that comes any where near Rolling in the Deep. As I type Sweetest Devotion comes on and it's easily the best song on the album. Makes the album climb from a 2.5 stars to 3 🌟.
Part of me wishes I saw in this album what everyone else saw in it when it came out, and while it's good, it's not the genre-defining masterpiece others seem to regard it as. Decent tho!
Adeles powerful vocals overpower some mediocre lyrics, there are some absolute classics on here but I found that many tracks got a little too repetitive over time
Likeable pop. Powerful voice. Hard to criticize Adele, but I'm not a big fan of this. Could be my age, but it sounds way overproduced and overly dramatic.
I actually find her voice a bit overwrought and I can’t listen to it all in one go. It lacks subtlety and nuance in the sound, but you can’t deny that she’s a good song writer. I’d probably prefer to listen to Kraftwerk than this.
I've never listened to an Adele album all the way through. I've always assumed that radio and shopping centres will provide me with enough of her (admittedly quite good) music. Obviously I've heard Hello a lot. The third beat song with that word in the title. I have a massive soft spot for it, as my daughter used to sing it when she was too small to pick up all the words. So I always remember her versions when I hear it. Hello. It's me, I've been waiting for this moment in the unagalaxy. Send My Love To Your New Lover is familiar and pretty good too. The next couple of tracks are pretty samey though. She definitely has a comfort zone... I recognize, but am fairly ambivalent about Remedy, and River Lea wakes me up a little, if only because I used to like a run along there. There's not much else worth writing home about tbh. She has an incredible voice, but it largely gets used in one way, which limits the enjoyment I can get out of it.
Not my cup of tea. Overly produced and I'm not wild about the timbre of her voice.
Not bad, love Adele’s voice, but find the music behind it uninspired
Rating: 4/10 If 21 is just above average with a collection of good pop tunes then 25 follows it up as a below average effort without the hits to match. The generic balladry is more prominent and the songwriting is comparably worse and entirely unmemorable. Where are the memorable choruses, at least? If Hello is the best there is to offer in that regard then this one is pretty weak. Adele might have peaked at 21
There's a heady market for this type of music, I'm just not the target audience, and this listen confirmed that.
This shiny diamond was not for me.
2,4 stars
🌕🌕🌗🌑🌑 (rounded down my rating because they dumbed down these lyrics for the lowest common denominator) Okay. Alright. I gave this one a shot because Adele was really important to Emily growing up and, for someone who lives under a rock, I have very few—if any—conceptions as to what Adele should sound like. For perspective, my first exposure to the song "Hello" was a Westboro Baptist Church parody (don't ask), and I only recognized "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" from, y'know, "Semaluhtounuyulohowwah." Really, I was a pretty clean slate. Musically, I've got to say, there's plenty to like here. Everyone's already given Adele her flowers as a vocalist (though, and I'm not even saying this to be some kind of asshole, I feel like she's at times too controlled to really feel raw, right? Still impressive belting on a lot of these, but it didn't rip me open, I guess), but for as overproduced as this album is, some of the melodies are pretty fun. I genuinely enjoyed “I Miss You,” and I loved the sort of warped, fuzzy production on the background harmonies of that one, "Water under the bridge," and "River Lea." Actually, I have mixed feelings about "River Lea" in particular—it's super, uh, this era of pop with sort of an overproduced funk hook but, much as I tried not to, I kind of got into it. It reminds me of newer Hozier a bit, which I hope carries as much good as it does bad. That said—and with my sincerest apologies to little Emily—some of these lyrics are, to me, just awful. I started writing down the ones that made me groan so I could add them here but, and I feel cruel saying this, there was just too many to make it practical. When I was a kid and would write lyrics or poetry, I'd often throw in filler words to clunkily fill the meter, but listening back, I was always disappointed you could tell. Here are some that sound like that: “When the night keeps you from sleeping” “I should probably tell you now before it’s way too late / that I never meant to hurt you or to lie straight to your face” “Life was a party to be thrown / but that was a million years ago” “When the world seems so cruel / and your heart makes you feel like a fool” Lyrical fluff abound! Sometimes, there's also these passages that have a similar not-quite-human feeling, like they're grasping for a metaphor. This is also very evil of me, but if these lines were released today, I'd say they sounded like AI: “If you’re not the one for me / then how come I can bring you to your knees?” “I wish I could live a little more / look up at the sky and not the floor” There are a few that feel like they're trying to tap into a feeling that hasn't been felt, but look, who am I to judge? I don't know, something like this felt like it was grasping at straws: “When I walk around all of the streets / where I grew up and found my feet / they can’t look me in the eye / it’s like they’re scared of me” Finally, the simplicity of these words lulled me into feeling (correctly) like I could just predict which rhyme came next. But then there were rhymes that were so bad they looped back around to being unpredictable? Like, take this one: “Have I ever asked for much? / The only thing that I want is your ___” what’s it gonna be? Touch? NO! "Love"??? Huh?? Look, I really regret how mean all of this comes off, but truly, where the lyrics are a 1, I genuinely feel like the music alone would've been a 3. Sorry, Emily.
This is the same shit as 21. Adele is a good singer but she CANNOT make an interesting song to save her life
Honestly a little more bearable than 21, but still pretty boring
Hello is it me you’re looking for? Not really. Too much much of a muchness. That first track is a big single and good. And I like Send My Love (but Taylor Swifty) but then….meh. 2.4
4+ / 10
I'm turning 50 this year and I've listened to music from every genre but this dramatic, emotional radio pop has never done anything for me. i can't think of a situation where I'd want to sit down and listen to this. Obviously influential since so many artists make a lot of money for record labels by sounding like this but I can't get into it. Sorry, I gave it a shot.
Adele undeniably has one of the most technically brilliant, beautiful voices in popular music today. … But by god her music is so booooooooooring…
I expected to be giving this a 1 star. If she comes on the TV or radio I switch it off if I can't, I leave the room if I can’t do either I stick my fingers in my ears and sing la la la till It’s over. However, after listening to a full album of poor poor me songs, I have to admit she has a great voice and does have a talent
its fine. Not worthy of the 1001 albums distinction.
Feel like it says it all that my favorite Adele song is her Bond theme for Skyfall and almost nothing from one of her albums. Send My Love (To Your New Lover) comes pretty damn close though, and Water Under the Bridge is fine. It’s broadly inoffensive. She’s still the milquetoast white girl ideal of pop soul, which means she takes zero risks and gets a hell of a lot of reward.
idgaf
Alright look. I like Adele. I like her songs, I think they're well written. I like her voice, very powerful and distinct. Not just belting for the sake of it, and great range. But god the production and arranging on these albums is so grating to me. Send Your Love is probably my favorite song by her, GODLY chorus on that one, super well written song. But then when it actually hits, there's a bunch of 2015 bullshit in the way! The barking "heys", reverse TR808 cymbal right on every bar, weak ass claps instead of a snare, get that shit outta there. Hello, again, well written song and uses her vocal range and power really well. Same with When We Were Young and Remedy. They all have that "dramatic cinematic reverb piano" thing though and that stinks cuz it's supposed to be a display of raw emotion but god it's so BORING It's 2.5 for me but it's brimming with "what it could be" energy. This album has a lot of good in it, but suffers from coming out right at the boom of this wave of music that's just mixed and arranged to be safe and boring and appear in car commercials. I get this makes me a snob and I'm sorry for that but it's upsetting me. Give this woman and this album a dedicated live band and some more lively arranging and I'm sure she soars, plenty of reason to believe that on display. But the production and arranging are so goddamn flat, it just feels like I'm standing in an H&M or something.
she has such an interesting voice but the songs and album as a whole is unfortunately just boring me
Generally, this is well done "soulful pop," but it is just rather boring, as it doesn't do a lot besides that. It doesn't push any boundaries or do anything beyond what will get into the most houses and sell the most records. I do think there is some talented songwriting, but I just feel, like a lot of modern pop music, it is distilled down to the safest production and compositions instead of pushing anything further. I'd give this a 2.5, but it doesn't compare to other albums I've given a 3, so I have to push it down to 2.
nicht so meins
Nothing overtly offensive but really not for me
I think I gave the last Adele album a 3? Which is seeming pretty generous after hearing how bland this was. I'm not interested in hearing the same piano ballad for more than half the length of an album. I kind of liked the last song, actually. Her voice is great and all but it gets tiring
Brit bias? Anyway, these songs all kind of sound the same. Which gets even more annoying, as it goes on. Sounds like those singing contest tv shows, where it's all about how much drama and belting it out the singer can do. Using the same basic template to repeatedly strive for an undeserved/unearned/unconvincing (especially because of the repetition and sameness) sense of the epic and the anthemic. Blecch. 2 stars. A low 2. Saved from a 1 only by her voice. Which surely could be put to better use?
perfect for piping into a shopping area! I'm annoyed that there is more than one Adele album on this list. This one certainly doesn't bring anything better or more interesting than 21. All it has to offer are a couple massively popular tracks, albeit good ones, which I didn't need to go out of my way to listen to because I've been exposed to them without trying. Three cheers for more lowest-common-denominator pop. I mean some of the tracks on this one are mind-numbingly straightforward
Opening track is a great, well written song even if I’ve heard far too many times. A thousand times perhaps. I think they achieved what they wanted with this album, and the sales back that up, but i doubt I’d want to listen again. She’s got pipes though.
“Hello” is obviously titanic and her voice is so special, but this album was just a whole bunch of ‘meh’
A bit over produced and weaker than first two albums. A couple of decent tracks
This illustrates exactly what is wrong with most music made today. Average at best songs. Slick production. Fake emotional vocals. All completely safe sterile no risk and no rewards for the listener. Adele clearly has talent but anything close to originality has been erased
Contrary to popular belief (unless this is a common take, I have no idea actually), this is a big step down from 21. Sure it has a hit, that I largely do not enjoy, the rest of the album is making an effort to emulate the success of the first but now from the perspective of someone successful. 21 had a good bluesy vibe to it but this is a little too much pop for her voice. Sorry girl
She has a great voice and some of the arrangements are really lovely. The songwriting is decent in places. But. I found a lot of this quite unexciting. When We Were Young, Water Under the Bridge and Sweetest Devotion are very good. Million Years Ago has a lovely melody but, like a lot of this album, sounds like it was written by someone much older reflecting on life- not someone aged 25 and by all accounts in the prime of her life. I’m 24 in a few months. That does not make me old.
Like a Celine Dion Album played by your parents friends on their Bose sound waves player but 20 years later with no innovation or risk taking gained from that time
Lacks the drive and purpose of the albums that came before it, that loss of focus reflected in stylistic experiments that don’t all come off.
I mostly don't like this. I find Adele is a classic over-singer, and her voice grates after a while, especially when she shout-sings. Most of the songs sound like they were designed to be epics, but end up feeling boring. A few exceptions which I don't mind are Hello, I Miss You (best track here) & When We Were Young.
Adele undoubtedly has one of the best voices in the last 50 years. However, she sings shitty pop songs. Her voice is definitely a five, but her content is a one. I wish she would move to jazz or blues. I think her voice is very much suited for that.
The ultimate modern mothers album Crazy good voice, predictable boring songwriting although quite interesting sparse production at times
I don’t mind a bit of Adele but doing a whole album was tough
Bolesno dosadan album.
classic case of a good voice but does nothing with it. truly coworker music.
She has a beautiful voice. “Hello” is powerful. But overall, I find this mostly boring.
Not.my tji g
Not good. I don't believe in any of the emotions here. This is not my experience of love. The only saving grace is that Adele's voice can be pleasant.
The faster songs are good but overall I just find this so boring. But she's sold buckets of albums so im in the minority.
I was expecting to hate this album, not because I dislike Adele but because I hate emotionally driven sappy songs. And I didn’t like the song Hello for that exact reason. But part of my hate for that song might also be the over exposure. That being said I did feel like the emotionally manipulative mom pop wasn’t as “thick” as I was anticipating. I did hate that nonsense pop song with barely intelligible lyrics “send my love”. That’s everything wrong with pop music today. It’s just a factory churned out brain worm that just has wailing vocals that can’t even be deciphered. I will say though, while I didn’t actually save anything from this album, she does have some incredible pipes. But the album as a whole was just not for me at all.
Music for people who don't like music.
I think that I will stick to a simple and very subjective evaluation of this record: it's not for me. There is some real talent on this record and clearly a lot of people love it, but I am not one of them.
‘M going to be honest. I try to listen to everything on this quest. But there are a few I’m not sure I need to. I have heard this amongst the zeitgeist. I know this is ‘good’. I have a lot of time for Adele as a person. But I don’t need to listen to heat wrenching break up music to know it’s not my bag. Like with a number of albums in the list - this isn’t for me, and that’s ok. A bang in the middle 2.5. But rounded down.
Talented with an incredible voice, but is a pretty standard affair.
Adele herself said in her Grammy acceptance speech that she couldn’t accept the award because she thought Beyoncé’s Lemonade should have won. Telling!
The weaker of Adele's albums. Not a true reflection of how good she really is.
naw i’m okay
Boring
Aretha Franklin for retail store playlists; the term “plastic soul” has never been more applicable. That said, I will say that “Water Under the Bridge” and “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)” are still good songs, no matter how overplayed they are.
Four years later and even more boring.
Heard it before. I like her first two albums but after them her sound became kind of boring. Same thing but worse. Send My Love To Your New Lover has such an annoying chorus I get a headache when I hear it 2/5
Adele, while very talented in her own right, is not really music for me at all. I'm going to be a good sport of course and listen to the album, but for anyone else reading this keep in mind: I'm not a pop guy, don't take this rating to heart. I listen to bands like Henry Cow and the Butthole Surfers, who are essentially completely different solar systems than pop music. Adele is by far and away one of the most successful musicians of the 2010s: Once she got big in the scene she kept it going. 21 is probably her better known album (with Rolling In The Deep/Someone Like You/etc), but could I really say that when the average plays on 25 are closer to a billion? Alright enough procrastinating on listening to the album by writing this meaningless introduction. Well, I survived. Wasn't as bad as I thought (definitely wouldn't be too abysmal), but I can still plainly say most of this music is just simply not for me. I'm glad it's good for most people! There's a few songs here I liked: I Miss You, River Lea (found out afterwards it was produced by Danger Mouse which helps), and the closing track Sweetest Devotion. Everything else: No. Simply no. If I didn't hear it a million times working in [retail-adjacent work], maybe I'd like it better. But I still dislike it. Overall: definitely an important album over the past 10-15 years, I'm never gonna say something like Adele is a bad singer when she clearly isn't, but like, this just isn't engaging enough to me. She has the conviction singing value, but I'd like to see what she can do with an orchestra or symphony. Something grander. 25 ends on a good note which was better than my low expectations, but I'm happy to not hear most of this again. Could definitely be a lot worse, and it's better than Taylor Swift at least. I'm not gonna feel bad for one of the best selling musicians this century though lol.
Not a fan. 21 is a better album. 18 has more sparks of originality and genius on it even if it is a mixed bag overall. This is just polished to the point where I can’t latch onto anything. She’s clearly a generational talent with her voice. This album just seems a waste of it. 1.5
By listening to this album you've listened to more Adele than 90% of Adele fans...
Fine. She has a great voice but I only need to hear once in a while. A whole album is a stretch.
Basically every song is co-written with a different producer which gives an interesting variety to the album. Tbf she does have an amazing voice. But yeah, not really my jam (sorry to be one of those guys).
4/17 Meh. Other than the song "Hello", which i only know from memes, nothing stands out.
Repetitive, basic and maudlin.
what a surprise! but, Adele
Honestly, just a bland record carried enormously by Adele's singing. Definitely a product of its time; at some point I had to check if I still had ads disabled, that's how some of these songs sound to me. The best parts of the album for me was where there was minimal instrumentation and she was allowed to showcase how she's capable of carrying a song alone, like in Million Years or All I Ask. Regardless of my opinion though 25 deserves a place on the list. I was in the dead center of its targeted age demographic (if not social demographic) when this album came out, and even describing this album and Adele at the time as inescapable feels disingenuous - she was downright pestilent. Millennials can have this album on this list for that reason, but I'm gonna go with my gut, be a bit cheeky and give 25 a 2/5. Listening notes: Well just going by Spotify listeners this is by FAR the most popular album I'm supposed to listen to so far 2 tracks in, this would and did kill at millennial parties Damn, Adele can sing but I'm not gonna pretend that was a mystery to anyone including me Water Under the Bridge made me do a double take to check if I still had ads disabled I like Million Years Ago, but it feels iterative, like I already heard the same song before from someone else All I ask is another one I like simply due to the vocal power
Meh
This was very boring but at least it wasn’t as bad as Mariah Carey or 50 Cent.
Notable Songzeile: Yeah, I blame it on the River Lea, the River Lea, the River Lea Blame all rounds: Wer ist nur schuld daran, dass dieses Album so langweilig ist? This was all you, none of it me. I call you never seem to be home but at least I can say if tried? Das in 2015? My ass.
Fav- remedy 2/5
I was about to get surgery on my hand as a result of a sandwich-related accident. It was just a local anaesthetic. My arm had a tourniquet above the elbow and was strapped down to the table. The surgeon entered. “So just a local?” I assumed he was talking to me. The tone was vaguely judgemental, as if I was responsible for the whole thing. Which to be fair, I was, between me and the sandwich. “Ah, yeah,” I said. “I’ve never had general anaesthetic and the concept makes me nervous, so I’m pretty glad.” “The concept?” “Yeah.” “Well, I’m not.” “Not what?” “Not glad. The ‘concept’ of general anaesthetic prevents conversations like these. Why are you so sweaty?” Also a fair observation. I was in a gown and lying on a bed lined with what felt like paper. Both materials felt like they were about to dissolve under my back sweat. “I’m nervous, I guess.” “Well, stop it. Stop being nervous and stop being sweaty.” He sighed. “I’m going to put on some music.” He walked out of sight to the corner of the room and pushed play on what sounded like an iPhone in a cereal bowl. He sat down and started pulling on my hand. I couldn’t feel anything other than a vague sense of pressure. “What’s this song?” I asked. He stopped what he was doing. I heard the clatter of the scalpel on the table. “Adele.” He said. “Ah. Day. El. The most popular artist in the world.” “OK, it’s not really my cup of…” “Would. You. Please. Stop. Sweating.” This was the first time I listened to Adele: strapped down to a table getting my hand cut open by a belligerent surgeon and trying not to sweat. Towards the end of the album, the operation was complete, and he removed the tourniquet. It unleashed this wave of the most intense pins and needles I’ve ever experienced. It felt like pure electricity running down my cold sausage of an arm. The surgeon picked up my lifeless arm, wiggled it a couple of times, then dropped it with a thud. He walked out without another word, with Adele still warbling away from the bowl in the corner. The second time I listened to Adele was today. I’m unsure which was the more painful experience.
girl get a grip this album is well constructed and wholly inoffensive not my kind of music and I don't think anyone should be writing this much about a man I liked River Lea
not really my thing but i respect its cultural relevance. i find adelle to be super samey. i think i havent experienced an adult breakup to apricate her lyrics
Very unrelatable and very bland.
Chart pop isn’t my thing, and I’ve not listened to music radio since the mid ‘80s. But even from this position of supreme ignorance, I know Adele is a big deal and could probably name two of her songs without any prompting – I know, impressive. However, this is my first time with one of her albums, and it’s not what I expected at all. I thought it would be more fun. I don’t know why, but I assumed a ridiculously successful artist with a happy homelife and a new family, would be writing songs that reflected her experience – instead, 25 is a ballad heavy ball breaker of an album, with songs mostly steeped in regret and nostalgia. There’s no doubt that she sings the shit out of everything put in front of her, and in the moment, she believes and lives every word. It’s undeniably a collection of great performances and, for her fans, that’s probably enough, but I’m not anywhere near convinced. Sorry. 4/10
After 45 minutes I have no memory of what I listened to aside from her voice. Aural wallpaper.
4/10
Yikes, 11 back to back breakup songs in a row. Adele sings well and I like her voice, but damn, this ain't for me. I could at least appreciate the other Adele album on this list a little more because the break up songs were broken up by some cool sounding songs. Those are all absent in this album other than some slight bounce in River Lea. Otherwise just moping. Somebody really needs to bite the bullet and stay in a relationship with Adele so she can make better music. 2/5
I don't really remember anything that was on that album
Not an Adele fan for a reason
Swing? 2/5
hello é iconico em niveis dificeis de explicar e a segunda música mantém o sarrafo. miss you absurdo os vocais. gostei de como a musica sobe no refrao de when we were young, mas nao gostei muito da lirica. remedy achei menos repetitiva. river lea é maneira. love in the dark perfeita. million years parecia q n acabava nunca. all i ask gostei pq parece um pouco mais diferente de como todas as outras soam. sweetest devotion bem diferente também, gostei. irrefutavel a voz da bicha.
I don't know 19 or 21 so fresh take, I gotta agree with her self-assessment that she's a young fogie. The writing sounds like the songs my mom would have a scotch and get misty eyed over, which I guess speaks to its universality. That little edge or timbre or whatever you would call it in her voice is the interesting part, it sounds halfway to Miley or Rihanna with none of the edge. So I guess I'll give 21 or 30 a listen.
I don’t know why she has to sing so much. Just too much for me.
Подобаються лише I Miss You та Love in the Dark. Окремий прикол співати в 25 років про good old days.
TOO MUCH FACE. BACK. UP. I haven't even hit play and I'm already intensely uncomfortable. Top notch vocal performance but she really did herself a disservice with the title/theme on this one. It taints the interpretation of the whole thing: "Songs about how hard it is to be the ripe old age of 25. My life is practically over, boo hoo, what will I do? I'm all shriveled up and will never find true love. Remember being young? I miss it so." -_- uhh, ok I would have liked a few of these songs ('River Lea' is actually pretty amazing) had I not been listening to them through the lens of some barely grown woman pining over 'lost youth'. Gurl, I'm 42 and my midlife crisis isn't this dramatic. Pass. Thanks.
I am not a regular listener to Adele, but I generally like her, or at least admire the strength of her voice when I hear her songs. This collection of songs has the vocal strength, but lacks the substance of the "hits" in her catalog. Water Under the Bridge was the only track that really stood out to me that I would want to add to my regular rotation. The rest just make me want to listen to Adele songs I already know.
Boring - probably her worst album. I Miss you and Water under the bridge are good
Oh man, it's very hard to rate this album in an honest way. I guess it's well made, she has a good voice, it's well produced and there's a healthy dose of sadness and depression which I appreciate. But it's too "Mother's Day Soundtrack" for me. I just can't. I'm not the demographics for this.
I'm not one to listen to this kind of stuff yet it hit me at some point. Then it just stagnates. Like there isn't much development. I understand there are powerful lyrics which signify nostalgia, there is some self-reflection and its retrospective. But overall it's mild and boring. Don't get me wrong she has a beautiful voice but I wish her talent was used more remarkably like some kind of build up would've raised this album to a more impressive level. 5/10.
I don’t quite buy into Adele’s music. I know there’s stuff to like about her as an artist and a person but this is a set of quite samey power ballads that don’t rise above the predictable often enough to get or keep me interested.
Hot take: Hello is the only really good and memorable song on this. The rest falls flat
okay, so I've never been into adele, but I'm gonna give this a genuine try. Her first album came out when I was 10, i think, and I just remember it being made fun of as "mom music". She's kinda just permanently in my brain like that now. Okay, honestly i'm just really really bored. *maybe* if i had a friend who LOVED adele and sat me down and tried to show me her greats then I could get it, but like rn it's just really really not my vibe. It's kinda funny cause I am a Pop and Indie Pop girlie, this should be my bread and butter. I Love Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, Hozier, Florence and the Machine, Olivia Dean, etc etc. But yeah, she's just really never clicked with me, sorry. I wanted to give this a 3 at least. I don't think I can? idk. 2.5 i guess
I bun a zoot on the river lea once #realshit
Hun er flink, og jeg kjeder meg.
For mange kjedelige pianoballader med svulstige tekster. Og den sangstemmen er irriterende på minst halvparten av låtene (spesielt Love In The Dark).
Beautiful voice. Not my thing though.
I can’t stand it to be honest. Hello ist still a great song but the rest does not reach its level.
Your aunt is going to love this album. Not for me but Send My Love is a good song.
I have not heard this before. I’ve heard Adele before of course, but I didn’t keep up with a lot of pop music during the ‘10s beyond what was playing in the background. There was a lot of bad pop music going on at the time but I’m sure I was being overly dismissive. As I’m listening to this I recognize a few songs from the radio and from grocery stores. There’s one that I like, and the rest are formulaic, maudlin, and not very catchy. She’s got a good voice and the instrumentation is nice, but nothing in here is what I like. I’m still sure I was overly dismissive of ‘10s pop but not in this case.
Not bad for this type of thing. Million miles away sounds uncannily like Dusty Springfield.
These songs all sound like the inner monologue of a very bats ke reality tv show person
*2015 *Several radio hits - Hello, Send My Love to Your New Lover, and Water Under the Bridge. *A little Adele goes a long way - it's so dramatic as we build up to the bit in each song where she sings VERY LOUDLY at us. *Not a very exciting album. It almost sounds like someone doing Karaoke of Adele. I guess she is only 25 here, but it sounds like the voice control is off and she's just not doing much with that powerful voice. *There are some pretty parts, but I just don't care for this at all. The last song had potential if she'd just chill out and not shout. RATING - 5/10
I’ve got no need with Adele and think she’s a great singer. But this album is a snooze fest. A handful of these songs make me feel like I’m at a worship center on Sunday at 9am, no disrespect. But just not my vibe. Specifically, songs like All I Ask, Remedy, Water Under the bridge. While they’re beautiful songs, they’re also very boring songs that just kind of fade into the background. The last song, Sweetest Devotion, had more of the vibe that I appreciate for this type of style. Drums are rocking, cool guitar licks, great strings and great breaks. But there’s no denying how big of an album this was for the mainstream. I knew about half of these songs from them just being in the ether of popular music (Hello, Send My Love, When Were Young, Water Under the Bridge). Not a bad album, just not the album for me.
Powerful voice, boring album
Say no to power ballads
Maybe I just didn’t want to listen to a pop album today or maybe Adele just isn’t for me, but I enjoyed this magnitudes less than 21. I get that it is probably pretty good, but I refuse to sit through it
4/10 - This album is a 4/10 because of how incredible Adele’s voice is. The talent and power of her vocals drag an otherwise boring, made for radio album as far as humanly possible.
There's no denying that Adele’s voice is absolutely insane, but I can't listen to this album in full without feeling like it's just a bit…. bland. There’s very little of interest in how the songs are written, and whilst the delivery is impeccable, the flow of the album makes me feel flat. I also felt like I was listening to the same song 12 times which truly says it all.
I think most of the other low reviews already said it. Adele is incredibly talented and her voice is SO good, it's just a shame she only seems to use it on piano ballads. Please, someone convince this woman to get in front of a band with a bit of a groove. She could absolutely slaughter with a touch of soul or R&B in her songwriting but for some reason she insists on writing soundtracks for Lifetime movies. Such a waste. I reserve 1 star for actively bad albums since evidently that's a problem on this 1001 albums list... so she gets 2. Not actively bad, just uninteresting.
Very boring. Adele is an amazing singer but the instrumentation, which helps to highlight the strength of her voice, is lacking.
As a devout avoider of pop music, I was shocked how much of ‘21’ I recognised and didn’t hate. Can’t say the same here. A load of poorly written depressing dirges and nothing recognisable. I’ll give it a 2 because I can’t deny she has a great voice but the song writing (whoever does it) fell off a cliff for this one.
We all know she has a booming voice and the respect of many fans and music enthusiasts alike. With that said, this album isn’t for me. Too dramatic just for the sake of being deep, and too poppy to strike a meaningful chord with me. Boring pop opera, it’s too constructed and perfect.
eh it's fine. adele's a really good singer & instrumentalist and the production's really good, everything feels really big and stadium-y, but also this is a top 40 pop album from after 2012 so despite the big emotional swings its still kind of bland and toothless and i dont think i'll remember any of this album in a week. i suspect i was having a much rougher go of things when i was 25 years old than adele was. the youtube playlist i found for this album ended with a short travelogue about a beach in the phillipines so that was a pretty fun bonus.
Most of this is annoying but secretly there are a couple of tracks I actually quite like….
Technically competent but dull
I feel so harsh rating this so low because she is undeniably and incredibly vocalist but I just found the whole thing unmemorable and a bit boring. Felt like I was waiting for it to end and by the time it did I had forgotten it all
Hello. It's you. A perfectly serviceable album that doesn't take much risks and is rather boring, if I'm honest.
Despite having sold so many copies and getting so much airplay this record just feels like one big sigh. Her voice is good, but the songwriting is too simple and if you pay close attention to the lyrics it becomes clear this was created by songwriters for hire, not the person on the cover. All pretenses of authenticity fall away and leave a shallow ( and thus easily latched onto) breakup/makeup record.
I'm not the target I think, where is the music ?
The final boss of mid discographies

According to my Last.fm statistics this is the first time I'm listening to Adele but of course I've heard many of these songs before. Adele has a beautiful voice but the album gets pretty boring pretty fast. En jaksanut loppuun asti.
She has a great voice; there is no disputing that. But the majority of songs by her that I know are obsessive, stalker-like songs. "I keep calling hundreds of times to tell you I'm sorry, but you never pick up the phone!" Girl, get a clue. "Hey, I know you're married now, but I'll never find someone like you - not trying to ruin your relationship or anything, tee hee." Again, girl, tone it down. The non-stalker songs on this album were boring and similar-sounding. You're 25; stop wishing you were young again and move on with your life.
There are like two dozen producers, songwriters and engineers on this album. Far too many for it to be this mid.
No doubt Adele has a powerful voice - I just can not for the life of my listen to it after hearing some of these songs a million times. Ads, supermarkets, radio etc. have ruined it for me
not my cup of tea found it boring but her voice is incredible
2015 was my senior year of high school, and so probably the year that I was most aware of what was going on with pop music before I went off to college and dove straight into college radio indie rock. As a result, I remember the release of 25 being supposedly a very big deal! And yet, I'm pretty sure I never heard anything off this except "Hello"?
Another Adele, hmm. Starts ok, but drifts into blandness quick enough. The lyrics are so banal, uninteresting, music by committee. 2 Heard before? Some Owned: No 47/195 (24%) Will I get: No
I love her voice but I feel like her albums are just more and more of the same
Unsubtlissimus
album for lovers of the color beige
It's ok.
Nah.
There are a few more highlights than I expected (Send My Love, Water Under The Bridge) but man do all the ballads get tiresome. An undeniably talented woman with an incredible voice just so many boring songs. Playlist track: Water Under The Bridge
Send My Love (To Your New Lover) is the only real banger here, When We Were Young is like two ratchets shy of hitting the Elton vibe it's aiming for, but it's never bad
I like it! First 3 songs and the closer are the clear highlights for me due to being way more dynamic than everything in between, but when we get several songs of sad piano and virtuostic vocals it starts blending together, even if it's not getting on my nerves
Songs added to my 1001 Bangers playlist: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), When We Were Young, Sweetest Devotion (I mainly like the backup singers here)
She’s got a beautiful voice but I also find it super boring….
Boring. She can sing I guess.
Cheesy warbling power ballads, every song sounds the same, this should not be on the list
Her voice is horrendous, it just cuts through me like a carving knife. She's permanently wailing. I can't stand it. It doesn't help that she's a bit of a cunt too, very full of herself, and comes across poorly. The actual instrumentation and songs aren't terrible, it just her nasally, whiny timbre that ruins it. She can stay in the US for all I care. I did make it all the way through so it's 2 stars.
I get the appeal, so please get that this does not appeal to me. The songs are so earnest, and her voice sounds like she's straining -- it's occasionally painful to hear.
I hate adele there is like 2 song I am intrested in here million years ago is ok
2.5
This album was frustrating for me to listen to, because as talented as Adele is, her music lately is just SO dull and not compelling to me. I enjoyed 21 (though that might have more to do with my associations with it), but many songs from 25 fell flat for me, or were a bit irritating (the chorus of Send my Love has always irked me).
I have heard songs many great things about how good Adele is, but have never listened to anything beyond her James Bond theme. First of all, yes I can agree that she has a great voice. But as with 90% of pop artists, this is where her talent ends. Once again, like most modern pop artists, the first thing I look at is the the writing credits, and of course every song has one or multiple songwriters attached to it. And when you Google these songwriters, they write for all the big pop albums. But I have complained about this for years, and I will always complain about it, you cant call yourself a singer songwriter, if you don't write all your music, that would make you just a singer. I digress. What really made me laugh was the wiki writeup on the writing process of this album, and how she suffered from writers block, and could not come up with any new ideas. Oh poor Adele. You dont write all of your songs, you always have a team of writers, so how can you complain about writers block. And I laughed out loud with the remark about running out of ideas, well that is because you write about the same subject in every damn song, love, breakup, relationships. What I would give for an original written song by Adele about standing in her kitchen baking cookies! You cant complain about writers block and that you have no new ideas when you sing about the same shit in every song. Rant over! From now on every company manufactured pop album on this list is getting one star. I am giving this one two only because she has a good voice!
for me it gave too sad vibes
Harsh but I just didn’t need to hear about her getting dumped again.
electro pop, she has a fantastic singing voice. the first 2 songs are great then it really falls apart. the whole vibe is just way to sad and sappy for my taste. I am impressed with her vocals, but the music just doesn't do anything for me. I will give it 2 stars just because her voice is that good, but this is an album I will never play again.
2015 - 2018 weren’t great years for me. Was it because this album was completely inescapable? No, but it certainly didn’t fucking help! I have a hard time respecting Adele as an artist when she makes millions capitalizing on bastardized renditions of heartbreak. The production style feels dated now, thank god. Her performative vocal style is nauseating and the lack of emotional depth in her lyrics is laughable. The only way I could sit through this album was trying to put words to why I have such a strong aversion to her. (Also, I’m not saying she’s an unattractive woman because she’s not, but her album covers are ass.)
Honestly I can only take about nine ballads in a row (granted some of these aren't ballads but.....they're on thin ice) 2.5
Powerful voice but so much sameness...stopped listening after 4 or 5 songs.
Not her best work
Great voice, just not a fan of the music
2/5 Songs are well mixed and mastered, but ultimately aren’t interesting musically or lyrically. The general feeling on this album is that of vulnerability, mistrust and hopeless optimism. Adele has a really great voice but I’m totally incapable of relating to the songs on this album.
It was alright. Lots of radio hits. Many of the ballads began to sound the exact same. Defiantly prefer her earlier work.
Great voice but honestly, this is a very boring album. The tracks aren’t bad individually, but personally, I don’t enjoy listening to piano ballad after piano ballad after piano ballad. If you can sit through this without wanting to explode, I salute you. 2/5
This is a hard one to rate. Her voice is excellent, obviously. The first song Hello is good, even though we've all it heard it a million times. I genuinely like Send My Love. Then the album just becomes a blur of overproduced ballads and it was hard to get into it. Looking forward to her reprise of "When We Were Young" on her 50 album.
I found the album underwhelming. It's mostly a re-hash of previous albums, with nothing new to say.
Bigger is not necessarily better. Not sure pop acts like this belong on this list--the whole point of albums like this is to be flavor-of-the-week, no? Woman has a voice though.
I know she’s talented and has a distinctive voice, but I find this brand of Maudlin lost love droning extremely tedious.
I couldn’t get through the whole thing. She uses the same vocal techniques in almost every one of her songs, and for all the applause she gets as a singer, her range is really limited. The material isn’t half bad, but there’s only so much Adele I can take. (She does have one of, if not the, best Bond songs, so there's that.)
I prefer when she was rolling in the deep and not belting ‘em out with such drama. Empty
good but boring
Not my thing. She has a great voice but the song writing seems like it doesn’t catch her essence. Million Years Ago and Sweetest Devotion were alright. The lyrics are sometimes cheesy. Overall would not listen to again.
I just don’t like it
It's great that a lot of people have this as their favorite music. I love it when people enjoy things.
Clearly very good if you like this sort of thing, not for me.
Great voice, total snoozefest
I could understand really liking this album if you were in your feels. I Twas not.
Her voice is powerful and clear like water. But the album felt like a pot of water I was watching intently, waiting for it to boil.
I can hang with 21. This - I just can't. Too many similar sounding ballads that share a nearly identical sentiment - a sentiment that has been shared many times before with nothing to make them stand out. Her voice is great and all but I just feels so smooth here with no grit. That being said - what the hell was I doing at 25?
The high production value stands out but I think that’s what turned me off. I prefer her first album, where’s she raw and a bit rough around the edges.
So melodramatic. Would probably enjoy it more if I were a depressed person.
Not really my bag. She is extremely talented but just really not my thing.
2.5
Never really got Adele. Just so boring
Zu den besonders bekannten und stilprägenden Songs zählen „Hello“, „When We Were Young“, „Send My Love (To Your New Lover)“, „Water Under the Bridge“ und „All I Ask“. Inhaltlich setzt sich 25 mit Rückblicken, Reifeprozessen und persönlichen Beziehungen auseinander. Im Vergleich zum Vorgänger wirkt das Album weniger dramatisch, dafür kontrollierter und reflektierter. Insgesamt ist 25 ein geschlossenes, konsequent umgesetztes Pop‑Soul‑Album, das auf Kontinuität statt Experimente setzt und Adeles Stärken klar ausspielt.
It was interesting for the first 1 min and 15 seconds. Who told the girl she sounds good when she adds volume to her voice? She doesn't 'sing' at high volume, she 'shouts' and forces here voice. There is a difference. Wikipedia describes her as a 'mezzo-soprano'; much laughter. Go and listen to some proper mezzos, Cecilia Bartoli, Ann Hallenberg, Adèle Charvet... Track 2. Why is she singing with a distinctly US accent? Apparently she's one of the 'world's best selling artists'. Fair enough. The Toyota Corolla is the world's best selling car. I have no desire to drive a Corolla. or listen to more of this generic, predictable pop. Included solely on the basis of sales? I can think of no other reason. Technically the recording clips quite badly. Hire a decent sound engineer while you're at it. I am sure she can afford it. 2/5
Zu viel heulender Gesang
hello
She is an EXCEPTIONAL singer, and there are a couple catchy songs on here, but this sort of 2010's pop just makes me nauseous. The production is tight and well-mixed, but so boring. Overall, actually kind of hard for me to listen to.
As incredible a singer Adele is, there is not much on her 3rd outing that hooks me in like its predecessor. It peaks on the first song and after that its all run of the mill.
Not my vibe. A lot of the songs sound the same
Musically nothing special, I suppose if you like her voice it's ok but for me it was just a showcase for a style of singing that does not appeal, with generic music and unoriginal songs.
Nice voice but the whole thing just feels like a checklist of "add drama" production cliches. And girl does not need more drama; this is her celebrating her 25th birthday by whining for an hour about "how mad I am at getting old" and her high school crushes not working out. Gotta wonder how she feels listening back ten years on, for an album about being old she's probably the thing thats aged the best.
Better than Coldplay
I could just copy/paste my review for "21" here - boring!
im so sorry adele, you seem like a nice lady, but i cannot take any of these songs seriously. theyre either so dull or just goofy.
Didn't listen not my thing
I was not very excited to listen to this one. With that being said, it’s really not bad by any means. 25 is a pleasant listen mostly due to the very safe pop formula and Adele’s vocal talents. My biggest gripe is that this kind of music is uninspiring and doesn’t lend to much replay value.
Not a fan of this one
She has better albums
It’s just boring to me. It’s a deeper Mariah Carey, but without the fun.
Whilst Adele can certainly sing her voice is not really my jam. I enjoyed the plodding/brooding melodrama of Hello - but everything else was very vanilla X-Factor ballads. Lyrically its pretty dumb and thematically its all very samey about the one that got away. Perhaps by the time we get to 50 Adele will have a bit more range in what she writes about.
I don’t listen to a lot of Adele. She’s not my favorite artist. Her voice is cool, but this is not an album nor artist that I resonate with. I remember vibing to Rolling In The Deep though. But I find her music to be too depressing and somber for my taste. So I’ll give her a 2 as she is talented, but this is not for me.
Removed Album #18 (List: https://pastebin.com/cSThNiK9) Hey, another snubbed pick. This time it's Adele whose on the chopping block, having had both of her albums mercilessly struck from future editions of the book. How tragic. Anyways, time for yet another contempop album, this time twenty-six albums after the previous one. Normally I would malign these contemporary picks, though I appreciate these albums as an opportunity to unwind (even if my review of Taylor Swift's 1989 album occupied way too much of my time). I probably know a respectable number of Adele songs thanks to radio osmosis, though the only one I can think of off the top of my head is Skyfall. I can see the niche Adele occupies in the normiesphere, though I've always had a slightly unfavourable impression of her, truth be told. The deep vocal style is deeply restrictive and immensely boring, and I'm not a fan of the needless dramatism and vapid introspection which surrounds her public image. That being said, I've never engaged with Adele's music all that closely, so I can forego being a cynical twat on this occasion. Yeah, it's Adele. Perfectly fine adult contemporary music, though there isn't much in here for me to latch onto underneath the hood. I can commend Adele's singing - she's a pretty distinctive vocalist. I'm not a fan of this modern singing style where vocalists go bonkers and oscillate between every pitch in the singing book, but I can admire the fact that she pulls of this brand off singing well. The instrumentals are also solid, if superficially appealing. I've heard "Hello" before. It's a fine song. Good vocal melody during the chorus, and the adult contemporary instrumental is archetypical, but decent. The high notes near the end of the song do not land, however. "Send My Love" is another heard-beforer, though I didn't know this was an Adele song. It sounds like it came out a little earlier than it did. Anyways, it's also a solid track. The plucky acoustic instrumental makes for some easy listening, and the songwriting is, again, very adept during the chorus. I've also heard "When We Were Young" before. It's solid. I'm always a sucker for the piano, and those backing vocals during the latter-half of the song is good. "Water Under the Bridge" is my pick for the best song on the album (I've also heard it before, unsurprisingly). Again, the plucky guitars give the song a nice sound, and the song has the best vocal melody during the chorus. The bridge in the latter half of the song is pretty good, too. Alright, book time. I gotta bust out my shitty 2016 edition pdf which takes forever to load. First album to sell three million in a week. Danger Mouse was one of the songwriters on this, which is surprising. "Authentic", which is bullshit for a slam dunk pop album. "...the most powerful singer of her generation and a savior of the medium that this book celebrates". These curators sold the fuck out. Anyways, I'm not convinced yet. Over to Wikipedia I go. "Hello" was an international chart-topper and the fastest-selling digital single. Best-selling album of 2015. Kind of brought back the album era. Award-winning. Record-breaking tour. Modest critical reception. I always thought Taylor Swift was the alpha female of contemporary pop music, but I guess Adele completely blows her the fuck out. Anyways, all of the reasons I'm getting for why this album is in here comes down to money, money and money, which is likely the reason as to why it was removed from future editions of the book. I cannot be bought out, and this album shall be rightfully placed into the woodchipper where it belongs. In place of this album, I humbly submit Recommended Music by Halcali for inclusion on the list.
Zzzzzzzz
it was okay, i can see why it was so popular. It’s just not for me. this album was very of the era though sooo…5/10
Wow, i think ive heard every song on this album before. I just wasnt bothered. Still isnt.
Too polished
#168/1001. Hello from the other side - from the listener side. I honestly think you have your right to express all your big and sad and awful and disgusting feelings and emotions with your amazing voice, but I feel it is all a bit too much. You know all the emotions sound quite the same, or at least the songs do, I am not sure if singing them aloud helps you or some other listeners or should you perhaps consult a therapist or something. Perhaps you have and there were a lot of things to discuss and a lot of trauma to go through. Yes it does feel sincere here too, but it is not anything I would really need in my life at the moment. Thanks and goodbye.
Firstly, Adele’s voice is of course the main draw here. The music that supports it can be a weird mix, oddly flipping between piano balladry and something akin to dance beats, with some sweeping orchestration thrown in for good measure, to varying degrees of success. Lyrics are mainly your typical affair of love and heartbreak. Nothing too memorable.
2.8
Yes Adele is an impressive vocalist, but did this album really need to make this list? It's boring radio music for folks who had teenage pregnancies
She is undeniably a good singer, but I really didn't find anything interesting
At first I thought "Okay, I'm not the target audience but she has a great voice and this is well crafted and well produced pop music ". Three songs in though, and I couldn't wait for it to be finished. This is suffocated, systematic songwriting. Every second worked out and formulated so that it's reminiscent of itself and every other high charting pop star. Sure, it's through the packaging of a young woman singing (still fucking more) break up songs, but it's the same product as Ed Sheeran, Meghan Trainor etc etc. Literally. Record labels and radio stations have done high budget research into how to appeal to as many people as possible to guarantee hits. Its the result of market research, there's no interest in any real art or expression.
Adeles music is just so obviously constructed to sell singles that I can't discern any personality in her albums. This is no different from 21. Beautiful voice with absolutely no depth/personality. 2/5
I was actually really surprised by how boring I found this album. I had never listened to Adele beyond hearing her in commercials and movies, so I was excited to see if there was anything else I might enjoy by her. It was not interesting to me
i am not an adele hater at all and think she has many amazing songs (my fav is chasing pavements since youre curious) but this album is a snoozefest Fav song: Send My Love
There is shiter pop music that I'd rather listen to less, ⭐⭐
Its just so samey !!!!!!!
Some of the up-tempo stuff is good, but most of this is a boring slog. And it's a shame, as most other people have noted, as Adele is one of the greatest vocalists of this century so far. Very talented, very strong. Ain't it a shame that it's wasted on this snoozefest. It's not offensively bad, but it's a melodramatic bore for most of the runtime. It's too safe, simple, and sterile to be noteworthy.
Not the best.
Hello. (I am excited to say good bye.) Adele is an undeniable talent. I’ve spent the majority of my life being a dirtbag and Adele makes me well aware of the times she’s been sang along with in lamentation of my name. Send my love is a nice bop. I like the tune and really love the harmonies. Semi related: I like the concept Adele has running with her albums. Titles that reflect her age, close pictures of her face, to accompany these songs do make it feel like we are up close and personal with her. In an industry that fetishizes infantile sexualization of young women it feels like an act of rebellion to make a firm decleration of age and womanhood. If she continues this into her 40s and 50s it’s gonna be out right punk rock. A 25 year old singing about “when we were young” and life “a million years ago” feels kinda goofy listening at 36. But I’m saying that with hindsight. I suppose it encapsulates the feeling of arriving to adulthood. It’s an age where you feel firmly I feel like we need to bring back “adult contemporary” as a genre for music. I want this album to be over so badly. Amy Winehouse is Adele’s Wario. This music is objectively not for me. I don’t mean that in a pejorative way at all. It is good though. That lady sings good. Sweetest devotion is a good song. FinallySomeGoodFood.jpg I think Adele is just a female Michael Buble with producers that have more of a pop sensibility.
Beautiful voice for sure but how many times can you listen to songs about breaking up or terrible boyfriends. She’s Taylor Swift with a much better voice
Sad songs, heartbroken songs, good voice, but not quite for me
Great album to nap to
Incredible voice, incredibly underused.
Good singer, boring songs Favorite tracks: Water Under the Bridge, Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
She's a good singer, but this is not for me. The first 2 tracks were massively overplayed, the rest is just bland and repetitive.
This is a great album for people who want Adele in their lives.
Adele is talented, and I like her voice a lot. I just wish that she did anything else than the risk-free pop snoozefest this album is.
Very bland, a waste.
She is so talented but I just don’t enjoy listening to whole albums of her music. I think it is just too many huge powerful songs with intense production all non stop. I think a good album needs some ebb and flow and it’s just nonstop emotional anguish. Great voice but just not for me.
2.4 great vocals but this is wine mom music. makes me feel like I'm trapped in the checkout at a T.J. Maxx while this blares over the loudspeaker. the kind of songs where I've heard them unwillingly so many times that they've lost any and all semblance of soul.
pretty generic. some catchy songs.
Too many ballads. She has a strong voice but this is very pedestrian and bland that doesn't move the needle for me.
Hello - 5/10 Send My Love (To Your New Lover) - 7/10 I Miss You - 6/10 When We Were Young - 5/10 Remedy - 5/10 Water Under the Bridge - 6/10 River Lea - 6/10 Love In The Dark - 6/10 Million Years Ago - 6/10 All I Ask - 7/10 Sweetest Devotion - 7/10
Love song this, love song that, how about you come up with some good fucking music?
I feel like Adele has some of the best voice in the pop world, yet her music doesn't displays it as much as it should. Songs about being older than before and heartbreaks just dont cut it after a while. 2/5 just more variety would do good. When We Were Young would slap if it was done by a late carrer singer, Adele was just in the middle of her most dominant era lmao https://www.reddit.com/r/TIHI/comments/1gy98ma/thanks_i_hate_upside_down_adele/
La vie est trop courte pour ça.
OK
I've already listened to 21 by Adele, and this isn't 4 stars better. Same level of interest for me - fine voice but utterly uninspiring in every other way. Leave this one to the bored and middle aged.
Synd!
Downhill after Hello - amazing voice but these don't sound like songs written for her...
I think Adele gave her everything on 21 and there was barely anything left for what followed. Nothing bad, but nothing attention worthy either.
Adult contemporary to the very core.
mehhhhhh
Skapligt, men inte min genre
Good but not for me
Great vocals but depressing without the feeling that alanis Morissette for example gets.
yeah adele can sing, but i really can't recall any song from that album except the first track because that was everywhere for a time. no memorable tunes, no sax solos, just a super generic creamy beige.
