It grates by the end
No 21. Favourite track: Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
I always liked Adele, but never listened to her album. Her voice is gorgeous. I like the adventurous rhythms of I Miss You. Her lyrics are understandable, and not crammed full of words that pass by like wallpaper. Her melodies are actually melodies. Yes, she has her conventions but I find her music ear catching, listening, and lovely for listening. However, I got a bit bored about mid way through the album. She definitely has her formulas for melodies and it's not a rhythmic album by any stretch. Still, I'll rate it highly.
Not a fan of Adele's music, but she is very talented.
Good.
Not outrageously inventive but well sung and well performed, 3.4
Definitely not for me, but what a great voice. I can't deny that.
Well a lot of people gave this album bad reviews because they didn’t like it. I really REALLY wish I could have been one of them. I mean come on, ME??? Adele???? YUCK!!! But the truth is, I didn’t hate it as much as I really wanted too. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t super good, or anything I’ll ever go back too, but it had parts that where pretty catchy. I’ve always had a weakness for pianos, and to be honest, the music aspect of this album was pretty good and on point. It’s Adele herself where I get a little lost. I’m not a fan of her voice, and I can’t really say I enjoy her lyrics either, but she really had some great producers who she worked with that really gave this album much more potential.
Great voice, but mostly boring songs 3/5
Pop soul. Pretty mixed bag, this album. I can't deny Adele's ability as a vocalist but man do some of these songs just not hit. And the whole album has this like, mopey vibe. Everything feels way too slow, like there's not enough energy. She can sing as loud as she wants but sometimes it kinda just feels like she's going through the motions. Most of the tracks have good instrumentals, wouldn't really write home about any of them. And the album as a whole just goes on a bit too long. I will say there were a few songs I wasn't previously familiar with that I really like, towards the end of the album. Overall not super impressed. Might revisit a couple songs. 3/5
Adele has an incredible voice, and the opening two singles from this album demonstrate that perfectly. Perhaps had “hello” and “send my love” not been so heavily played across the UK and parodied (specifically hello) they might have been more impactful. The issue is then following this opening the album for me goes into a lull, the next four tracks seem to all talk about the same themes of love with little variation and without the impact of the opening two tracks. “River Lea” picks up the slack and then “million years ago” carries the back end being by far the best track here. Mainly because it addresses a different theme from breakup and as such feels incredibly fresh. The album closes strongly but the middle is too sleepy and repetitive for me. 3.8*
Lovely.
Honestly not bad. The back half of this album is Adele at her brightest though the first half has the mega hits.
Best song - Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
She takes us as a tourist to her pain but doesn’t let us in. I am sad. We are over. You hear it, but the lyrics are generic so you don’t feel it. Compare this to a Tori Amos or Laura Nyro record and the difference is clear. I hope Adele can grow as a lyricist or partner up - then I think we will see the dark fullness of heartbreak.
- good pop music - good vocals - fine/mid not-pop music - annoyingly samey
Mid
Much as I admire Adele I can’t really understand why a second album is on this list when there are some artists missing completely. Having said that, it’s an alright sound and she’s clearly talented so 3*
'salright.
Adele is dope. Amazing vocalist with catchy pop sensibility. I didn't realize how young she is.
Adele is awesome, but that slight lisp really puts me off. "Hello" is a banger, however I don't think this is her best record.
Many hits on this. Overall a good listen.
As always, Adele’s vocal performance is incredible here. Overall, the album is pretty good, but I think she plays it a little safe. On top of that, some songs were a bit too poppy for my taste. I actually prefer some of the lesser known songs, like River Lea, over many of the radio hits.
Good album. Surprised I liked as much as I did.
The vocal performance alone puts this on the higher side, but at times the songs all start sounding alike. Whether that be a patterned approach where every song has her starting soft only to then jump to belting it out, or the dramatic production. It sure would be nice to hear more with just her and a guitar or piano like on “Send My Love” as her voice is quite suited to that stripped down intimate feel. The last track “Sweetest Devotion” was one of my favorites. Still, overall a solid album that I will probably eventually forget about.
Like every Adele album, this one doesn’t fall short on vocal performance. Such a powerful voice. Unlike some of her others, this album lacks a variety and never really picks up enough steam for me. Probably doesn’t deserve to be lumped in with other 3s, but didn’t quite reach 4 status for me.
She’s pretty great. Amazing voice, lots of soul. I Iove songs where it’s just her and a guitar (a la beginning of Send My Love). I could be persuaded to a 4 but I think 21 is probably slightly better.
You could give this a 4* based on Adele’s vocal talent alone and I wouldn’t be mad at ya. But for me it started feeling a bit one note after the first couple songs. I love me some Send My Love. Def the highlight of the album. I’m rounding down on this one. 3.5/5
Hello is a really powerful opener. Vulnerable in subject, but sung with such confidence. Easy to see why it got such popular appeal. Send My Love strips away the vulnerability and that Hello evokes in favor of a more straightforward, catchy minimal pop song. The production and composition here is amazing. The little drum hit with plucked line that dominates the song with the swelling support through the chorus and the backing harmonies and vocal fills give a ton of depth. Catchy AF. Perfect song for mopping the floor to. Once again, a lot of depth on I Miss You that bleeds on epic. A lot to like here. By When We Were Young, I'm getting a little more worn on the power-ballad format. Like it _is_ pretty and powerful, but I only need a handful of these types of songs in my life. Kind of tuned out for a bit. Million Years Ago pulled me back in with its sparseness. Extremely pretty song. I have to restart my browser and don't feel like saving this.. giving this one a high 3. The front end is so great and there are other high points, but I get worn out by her voice.
Adele has some PIPES that is for sure. She is almost too powerful of a singer where it was getting exhausting to listen to towards the end, especially songs where it was just her singing with a piano. There was pretty much a different producer for each song which was cool to have them bring their own style to keep the album from getting stale. I enjoyed that a lot in the beginnning but started to lose intrest in the end. Sweetest Devotion was a cool song to end on though withe the guitar. High 3
Powerful vocals ≠ Talent Although I appreciate Adele as a vocalist, and acknowledge that she is one of the most influential female vocalists of her time, "25" is repetitive, with Adele whining about her relationship problems in every single song. Even her most famous tracks, namely "Hello", the monotony rubs off on you after a certain number of listens. I can take on that her songs resonate with lovesick teenage girls, but I do not fall into that category.
Another great singing voice. Unfortunately, her lyrics are uneven and tend to reach for the sentimental and for general tropes when they could have done so much better. For instance "Send my love (to your new lover)" fails to walk through the full emotional range of the situation and is staged like an ordinary love song when it is in fact about a jilted lover possibly jilted because of age. And "I miss you" is just not lyrically doing anything other than throwing around standard tropes, although how it is sung is interesting. Most annoying with this album is its constant looking back from a point of being older at a younger self. I myself released an album when I was four looking back at the time when I was three and all the hardships of that time but I forgot to release it.
Obviously she has a great voice and the piano songs were very good, but can she sing about something else besides just love or not being in love.
Obviously still a great singer, but barring one or two songs this album could have been one long midtempo ballad with soaring vocals. Nothing new and nothing with the raison de etre of eg rolling in the deep
Adele has a wonderful voice. She has always seemed ahead of her age. I was familiar with several songs on this album, but the only one that I really like is "Send My Love". So, despite the many hits, I'll go with a 3-star for this one.
"Send My Love" is a genuinely great song, and a few of the other singles hold up. But, there's a melodramatic sameness to a lot of the rest of it, that keeps the album from being better than average.
Definitely prefer when Adele leans into her upbeat, R&B grooves (Send My Love, I Miss You, River Lea) over her straight up ballads, which dip into borderline cloying, schmaltzy territory for me. No denying her talent, tho.
Nice voice and songs but I’m not a 50 year old mum
All good, but no standouts. Songs got too long, too melancholy, and too similar as the album progressed. Needed to break it up a bit with some upbeat sound. 25 should have been much more fun and exciting! (2.6*s)
Adele has a great voice and is at her best when it's just her and a piano (Remedy and When We Were Young). On some of the songs on this album (like I Miss You and River Lea) the production overshadows her voice and doesn't fit. The album seems a little disjointed since it goes back and forth between her and a piano and more produced songs. This album is '25' and not 15. Favorite Songs: When We Were Young, Remedy, Hello Least Favorite: I Miss You, River Lea
These pop albums always surprise me in how many of the songs I already know. It’s not my genre and I wouldn’t buy it, but I can’t deny that this is a solid album. Great songs and a great artist. Favourite songs: - Million years ago
Hello is the best version of this type of song but the rest of the album is just fine.
Adele is just meh to me. And so much overkill. There was no getting away from her before the last album blathering on about her marriage. And then she went to the Brit school and is supposedly super talented but then Max Martin, Ryan Tedder et al are all over this. Good voice and some decent songs
she obviously has an incredible voice, but it's a very boring album
there were some hidden gems, but there were overplayed songs too
Adele has been a staple in my childhood and teenage life, and with her latest, my adult life. There's always a song she's dropping every few years that dominates the radio and, by extension, my head. I remember hearing many of the songs off this album when it came out back in 2015. If there's anything that allows Adele to stand out among the crowd of contemporary pop vocalists is her powerful, soul-inspired vocal style. Her voice is the standout without a question. I mean the song "Hello" has instrumentation that is so lowkey that it only makes Adele's vocals stick out. It's almost like some sort of glorified acapella song. Yet, the song still sounds huge and theatrical which is quite a feat and speaks to Adele's enormous vocal talents. For me, my enjoyment of this album came primarily from those nostalgic moments from when I was in high school and this album first dropped and I couldn't avoid those singles. I mentioned "Hello" but "Send My Love" has probably the catchiest chorus here. Adele's vocals here are reminiscent of her contemporaries as opposed to sticking to her unique power ballad style. "When We Were Young" has to be my favorite song here though. I just really enjoy the chorus here and I think the minimal production works especially well. The nostalgic lyrics here are almost tragic as Adele romanticizes her relationship's past while yearning to leave her barren and monochromatic present. At least that's what I get out of it. Lyrically speaking Adele may not be particularly special across this thing but she's capable of depicting breakups in interesting ways like on "Million Years Ago" and "Water under the Bridge" which I like despite it probably sounding the most 2015-poppy here (with those vocal cries in the chorus). I think the mixture of these intimate, heartbroken lyrics and the powerful delivery adds only to the message like "Love in the Dark" which is my favorite production here with strings and piano that complement Adele's vocals very well and I enjoy the harmonies here. "All I Ask" works to the same effect. This is a very intimate and personal album for Adele I'm sure. A lot of slow piano ballads and when the songs get faster, the instruments remain very underspoken (to the point where I think it's almost washed out on certain songs like "River Lea"). I think the ballad-type songs are the strongest. Can't say I enjoyed every single song here as much as the more popular ones, but it's still a very good listen.
Adele really has a beautiful voice, but I feel like this songwriting on this album is very pedestrian. There are certainly good pop songs on here, but overall it’s kinda meh. There are a lot of other songs of hers not on this record I like more. Notable tracks include hello, send my love, and love in the dark.
- Hello is a banger but I would never bump this album regularly - Okay some of these (Water Under the Bridge, Send My Love) are also bangers, but still a lot of slow stuff
I can’t listen to Hello without thinking of the SNL sketch.
Contemporary pop. Adele has a magnificent voice and sings the power ballads as well as anyone. Her songs come from her own personal experience so the emotions she conveys are honest and genuine, making her compositions very powerful. As an album, however, it's a little monotonic with all the lyrics and subject matter very similar. It's far less ambitious and exploratory than it might be -- Adele takes no risks here -- and so it can't get full marks in my book.
Not a huge fan of Adele but she has a great voice.
Great voice, but only a couple great songs.
Truthfully not a huge fan of Adele, but this album was a good listen.
I enjoyed this album a lot more than I thought I would. 3.5
Not sure how to rank this album against others so it gets a 3 but undoubtedly talented
Wel mooi opzich, maar zoooo vaak op de radio gehoord
Regular. Un poco monótono.
I really appreciate her music but this album isn't really my cup of tea
Prefer the previous album.
Wat ken ze mooi zingen he
Can't deny the vocals, and Hello is a banger, but I'm just bored with the rest.
I thought this was better than what I was expecting, I saw Hello and got scared. Decent album overall.
25/50
Good singing, good album. Nothing world changing.
Her voice is undeniable. Musically tho, this album is kind of boring and starts to feel repetitive.
I've never listened to this whole album before, but I'm familiar with the singles that came from it. 25 as a whole isn't as good as 21, but that's okay, because "Hello" is twice as good as any one song on 21. Even after all the times I've heard "Hello," it still has a physical effect on me, sending a wave across my whole body whenever Adele hits that first word of the chorus. Knowing this song well makes it even better, because the anticipation of that chorus kicking in every time is one of the best adrenaline rushes in popular music. As the song goes on, it rewards your ears with an additional treat: the booming but sparse drum kicks in during the first chorus, the strings get louder during the second verse, and the backing vocals kick in on the second chorus. "Hello" might be one of the most played pop songs of the 2010's, but it's also one of the best. The other singles on this album, while nowhere near as earth shattering as "Hello," are still great. "Send My Love" has an incredibly catchy rhythm, punctuated by what I assume to be some great finger picking on the guitar. The lyrics to "When We Were Young" really capture that nostalgia of past love, while channeling the anxieties that arise when that love resurfaces. "Water Under the Bridge" is the second best song on the album, with a great, driving beat, great lyrics, fantastic vocals, and a crashing chorus. There's something off-kilter about the pace of the lyrics in the chorus that I absolutely love. The other songs on the album are fine; they're not filler per se, but they definitely don't stand out, nor are they very memorable. This is a good album, but it falls short because we know that Adele can do more.
Bit dull
This does what you would hope and expect. It's pretty good.
First and last songs were good felt like coasting in the middle.
It's a bit dreary
Incredible voice. Ok songs.
Her voice is spectacular. Certainly one of the best female singers in decades. These songs are good but not great though. Doesn’t live up to “21” for me.
A letdown after 21. I was going to go 4 stars, but then Spotify gave me Amy Winehouse - Valerie after the album ended and I realized how much more personality her voice had.
Muy agradable, algunos temas muy pegadizos. 3/5.
Beautiful voice! Very moving album, but depressing subject matter
Helt okej skiva. Håller med om att det främst de kända låtarna som är dom bra. Blir lite väl tjatigt i slutet tycker jag.
solid commercial pop
I've always enjoyed the Adele singles as much as the next person but never really dove into the full lengths. It was enjoyable but the best parts were indeed the singles. She's incredibly talented, just not my taste. Standout tracks: Hello, Send My Love, When We Were Young.
One album that I’ve actually listened to a bit before since it came out while I was in college. Her voice is obviously incredible and the highlight. But something I noticed this time was the backup vocals throughout. Hello has kind of become a meme, but in the back half of the song, these incredible back up vocals come in. Orchestration (is this a word?) is amazing. Tracks start to feel “samey”. Damn tho, “All I Ask” is a Side B bop Dave Track: When We Were Young Runner Up: All I Ask Least Fave: River Lea
Beautiful voice! Mostly sad songs about lost love
Some good songs but pretty generic diva pop. She can sing.
Occasional good songs, fantastic voice, but overall very same-y and drab. I’d switched off before the half way mark.
Extremely frontloaded and some of the most overplayed songs of all time, but a solid album
Great voice. Not for me.
Not my favorite of hers, but not bad.
After starting with her heavy hitters, I really enjoyed getting to know her through her other songs. Remedy was my discovered favorites. It kind of becomes a lot of Adele after a while though.
Singen kann sie. Für mich ist das Album etwas zu glatt. Ich glaube sie kann mehr.
Hello- great song this a very unique thing about this song is that it is talk directly to someone and not the listener which is very interesting, and how well it is able to convey its message with subtle lyrics that let’s the listener figure out what it going on which shows the the complexity of the emotions and feelings in such a situation. Also if you notice there is barely any instruments until the last third of the song. And it is just light drums, and light piano. Which just shows how much her voice carries the music. Send My Love - has a little bit of the savage energy that is present in a lot of her good songs, tho the chorus is a little bit too poppy it sounds almost like a rock song and then it build up to something exciting only for it to be a bland pop chorus. I miss you - love the drums at the beginning they have this woosy sort if rhythm that constantly speeds up and slows down. Reminds me of the opening for Believe Me Natalie by the Killer the layering great and does really good with dynamics, reminds me how a Florence and the machine song. It feels like there are some dark undertones underneath the simple lyrics in the way that she sings it. It has some minor inflections. When we were young - has really great emotional impact on the listener. I remember listening to this a long time ago and thinking this song sounded really nostalgic of better day, and now I still feel the same things. You have hear the bittersweet tug in the way she truly expresses her emotions in this song one if her best songs, I personally think it is better than Hello. i also like how she purposely scratches her voice up at the end, a very nice touch. Remedy - this was a sort and sweet song very simple but fun and catchy Water under the bridge - this is an insanely catchy song, and it flows from on section to the next and the rhythm is unique and complex. River Lea - this is a really good song in the beginning and is almost a top song, but it falls into the trap most songs do where they drop the cool music after the first chorus and they go make to boring old pop noises. The beginning sounds like a cool folk song so it is very much missed in the rest of the song. A million years ago - this is one of the top songs in the album. It is heartfelt, acoustic, and it is the only song that is about something entirely different from the other songs. Really good! Love in the Dark - the instrumentation is great, but the lyrics are very boring and cliché, plus out of all of the 11 song about this topic this is the third worst. All I ask - another boring song about the same thing. This one also doesn’t have great music to cover it up so this is the second worst Sweetest Devotion - this one bored me the most, and it is about the same thing. This is the worst. Overall this album has some banger songs, but they are almost all about the same thing. I get that the pop industry is finding one good idea and then bash out songs about that same idea until people get bored of it, but that just means you get a couple really great songs that are incredibly, and then the creativity get burn out at the end causing the rest of the album to suffer. But the Greats are really great so they carry the album really well. Also Adele could be a rock artist if she stopped putting in those pop flairs in her songs. The song that don’t have them are really good. Though they are subtle enough that it doesn’t ruin the really great songs in the albums such as Water Under the Bridge and When We Were Young, they would be way better without them, they kinda cheapen the songs for me, and I really like them otherwise
il est bien bien bien mes sons préférés sont : Hello, when we were Younger, miss you et love in the dark voila le reste est vraiment pas mal aussi mais j'y ai moins prêté attention !
#90. If you had asked me yesterday if I thought I would enjoy listening to 48 minutes of sad girl r&b, I probably would have guessed probably not, but this was actually a fairly enjoyable listen. She has an amazing voice, and while this is definitely not my go style of music, I did find that I liked it. 3/5: way better than similar stuff like Taylor Swift
Great voice don’t know how often I would listen to this on my own but would not be opposed if it was playing in the background
Not really my type of music, but I really liked the massive "Hello"; I also liked quite liked "River Lea" and not just because of my connection to the river as a child.
Not a fan of the retro-vocal forward style of singing. Its clear she has talent and access to top producers. Just didn't move me, personally.
Schöne Pop Produktion. Super Stimme. Sehr respektabel.
Very formulaic... She has an amazing voice, but it's all a bit repetitive... Rather safe....
Own
I grew up hearing Adele on the radio and generally always liked her. Some of the instrumental sounds like stock audio though
Nice voice, but it is not mine.
Ok Adele, I see you.
Obviously a great singer who bears her soul through the songwriting. It's unlikely that I would just put on this album, but I respect it.
Adele is a good pop singer that makes good pop. That said, I am not a fan of pop music. But, respect where respect is due. Sorry Adele, you seem nice.
A good lounge album, some great vocal performances. Overall a bit samey.
not my type of music but great voice
some good songs others are a bit boring
Great voice, kinda hit or miss song writing IMHO. Hello is a banger, most of the rest just kinda slides past inoffensively. It's fine.
No es mi favorito.
First half was really good and second half was slow. Rating: 3.4
Overall, I enjoyed listening to most of the songs but no particular track stood out to me. Adele is clearly very talented but it started to feel repetitive about halfway through.
I did not realize that so many of Adele's HUGE hits were on one album. This whole thing is pretty much just a collection of pop songs that had a chokehold on 2015. Not bad by any means, Adele has an amazing voice, just too poppy for me.
Hello is rather epic but I feel it deserves to be clowned on, its pretty cheesy. Send My Love (To Your New Lover) is my favourite Adele song, its a bop. If you gave me the aux and said play an Adele song I'd definitely pick this one. I Miss You, When We Were Young and Remedy are fine but all a bit bland and slow for me. Taylor Swift vibes from Water Under the Bridge. Love In the Dark strings. Million Years Ago sounded for a sec like it was going Fleet Foxes. Its just not for me this. Obviously Adele has a great voice, but I would love to hear her turn out more fun or creative songs. Fave tracks: Send My Love (To Your New Lover), Sweetest Devotion 2.7/5
eh its adele, nothing interesting to say. not my type of music but some catchy tunes
Doesn't have my favorite Adele songs, and its a bit tedious and heavy to listen to the whole album at once. She has a tremendous voice, but this isn't my favorite listen.
Nice album
Good pop Album. Great Adele's voice. A lot of hits
Adele is one of the greatest singers of this generation. Still, the music isn’t necessarily my jam and nothing about this album blows me away.
its ok, 2.7
Dummy talented vocals but the production/instrumentals/everything else is just kind of there
This album made me like Adele. She's pretty impressive.
She’s got skills. If I was on a road trip and only had this album, I’d let it go for a few turns. Not sure I’m reaching for it otherwise. Anyone else get the feeling she knows heartbreak?
She really misses that guy apparently. Her voice really is pretty incredible, wasn’t as slow as I thought it would be.
Individually the songs were good but just gets to be too much for an entire album.
Going from memory here, trying to get my next album
Every song kinda at the same speed. It's fine. She has a great voice. "Water Under the Bridge" sounds just like "I Love You Always Forever" by Donna Lewis.
Boring, but some good songwriting
Kovahan se on laulaa, mut emmätiä suurin osa biiseistä aika geneerisiä.
"Meh"
Classic, many power ballads, love it
Good music to get pegged to I wouldn't know that of course, my friend told me
Aretha-tier vocalist doing some ice cream + red wine jams
Never quite hits the highs of Hello which comes on strong right out of the gate - 10/10 song. Unfortunately the rest of the album can't even get close to the quality and emotion again.
Its got a bunch of hits and Adele is really talented
There is no doubt Adele is incredibly talented - wow, what a voice! Apart from hearing her well known tracks I haven't listened to much Adele. I enjoyed listening to this album, however its not something I think I'd revisit as a full album - it became a little repetitive plus is not a genre I'm that into. I think it was maybe just a bit too over produced for me. Fave track: Million years ago
A very nice album. Not groundbreaking or striking but nice
Amazing voice. She knows how to write fitting songs to take advantage of it. A bit sad and sappy, but a lot of force behind it. Not my cup of tea, but guaranteed to be many other people’s favourite album. High 3
Beautiful. Even the overplayed stuff. Just earnest, confident vocals and high quality production.
a lot of hits
Really loved her first two albums but haven’t listened to this one. Solid album though, beautiful powerful voice as always. Always listen to her songs with ur ex partner in mind, v depressing. Remedy was probably my fave on the album tbh, with water under the bridge a close second. Some of it is a bit cheesy like Hello but maybe that’s just because it’s overplayed idk.
Heel goed!
It's a solid outing by Adele (as expected). 25 is a good pop album, but it's really nothing special. I will gladly listen to it on line, but it's not one I would purchase on vinyl.
Not a huge Adele fan. Personally think she is overrated. She has a few great ones and Hello and Send My Love are in there for me. I completely endorse this being on here for the many reasons listed in the wiki. I can acknowledge that and still not be a big fan. Especially when I see her albums just piled up in stores because they were over produced. And if I remember right, costed a lot of other albums their time in the vinyl light because her album took up so much production time. Talk about waste.
I've never been a big fan of Adele. She's a great singer of course, but how's the music? Often, not very inspired. I've noticed before, and even more when listening to this, that I don't really get along with her hooks. A couple tracks on here that are really interesting in the verses, and then the chorus is so bland. Specifically "When We Were Young," a little of "Remedy" too. "Hello" is still a great song. It's still a pretty good album, that's what she makes, good music. But how much of it is "great" anymore? Favorite tracks: Hello, When We Were Young, Remedy, Send My Love (didn't realize this was an Adele song). Album art: Jumpscare level close-up. Do not like this one at all, there's really nothing to it. 3.5/5
Lovely record. Not groundbreaking or earth shattering, but she sings beautifully and the songs are soulful and authentic.
Doesn’t hold up as well as I’d hope. Still has some good tracks but there are too many maudlin middle ground tracks here.
2.5 Its fine if 1 songs to pop up in a playlist once in a while but the whole album together is too repetitive. Even 5 minutes of Hello is too much.. Favourite: Million years ago Least favourite: River Lea
Not as good as 21
A couple songs on here are pretty good, but the rest of it isn't anything special. Probably more excited for the other one on here. 21 is on here, right? I can't remember. Anyway, her voice is nice, even if the music can be kind of nothing. My favourite song was Million Years Ago.
Vallan pätevä mukanalaulamislevy. Muutama filleri liikaa, 10 minuuttia liian pitkä, se riittää puuduttamaan. Kaipaisin väliin hulluttelevampaa tyyliin Rumour has it. Myynneiltään merkittävä albumi, mutta ei jätä paikkaan onneksi aivan sen varaan vaan on myös taitava.
5/10 - Clearly an impressive album, but not up my alley.
A talented vocalist.... making boring music. Low 3
Adele was my sister's favorite artist while we were growing up (I know this dates me), so I grew up listening to her (and Adele) sing all of these songs. Although I don't particularly like the style of music that Adele creates, it was really nice to be able to listen to the album and know practically every song that played. I found the overall sound of the album to be pretty boring, and listening to the same vocal range and sound got a little bit boring. No particular stand-out tracks, but I threw Water under the Bridge on the playlist. One song gave me a headache, but overall I didn't hate it. I wouldn't listen to it again if I had the option, so... 3/5
Closer to 3.5 stars. An iconic voice with some iconic songs, and I had to keep reminding myself that she made this at 25. Why it wasn’t my favorite album: -I think Adele is at her best when she isn’t belting. I think the loveliest parts of her songs are where she sings low, and I wish there were a song where she avoided the high notes. -The songs felt repetitive and like there was no experimentation to them, like they followed a formula. They’re a few exceptions and they’re my favorite songs of the album, but for the most part the album had too much predictability for me. -I wish the songs flowed from one to another. The album itself feels like an Adele album and is cohesive sound-wise, but the transitions between songs felt more like a bunch of songs thrown together in a premeditated order of light songs, then ballads, then light, then a little edgy, then ballad, then light again that I think many pop albums follow. It felt like there wasn’t much mind towards how the songs felt side by side. All that rambling aside, Adele’s voice is beautiful and I think that’s why you listen to an Adele album, not necessarily for her experimentation. These songs are almost 10 years old and some of them I haven’t heard for years but still knew and still loved, and I think that’s the sign and the power of a good song.
Not my favorite genre of music but Adele has an awesome voice
Nice Voice Adele, not that much my stile I would give a 3,5. I listen to this a bit whent it came out. Havent paid that much attention to the lyrics...
It’s fine. Great voice, polished production, but it’s just not for me.
Adele has a powerhouse voice, and there’s a few songs here that put it to good use, but far too many quiet piano ballads for my taste. Still can’t deny Remedy is pretty good.
Adele is one of those artists that a lot of people get enjoyment from and that’s great. She’s just never blown me away.
es un album que jamas escuche entero pero que si escuche entero gracias a la 100/radio disney y demases todos los temas eso es increible dicho esto escucchar un disco de adele me hace sentir una mujer blanca clase media recien divorciada
Some great hit songs and a solid album.
It's become a classic.
sporo
she is very talented, but the album itself feels repetitive. There are some songs with differences however. There are some nice tracks on here however
Escutado frequentemente, a voz garante a passagem do tempo com emoção.
Hello - boring and overplayed so I really dislike it Send My Love - it was ok I don’t love the style of music I Miss You - I actually liked this one it reminded me a bit of her earlier stuff, thinking five mins is a bit long though When We Were Young - did not like this one, felt like it was sampling something Remedy - boring again sorry not sorry Water Under the Bridge - didn’t mind it but again don’t love the style River Lea - this one is kinda a bop actually Love In The Dark - this again reminds me a little of her older stuff so I like it Million Years Ago - straight away this reminds me of older music but I’m not hating it. Omg looked on genius and it uses the Phantom of the Opera as a melody, I kinda love it actually All I Ask - not loving this one, not a very strong track Sweetest Devotion - it was almost like an 80s power ballad I did not really like it
It decente, but the songs almost the same no variation
I’m not 80.
"Hello" is a fantastic example of voice as an instrument. Adele has such an impressive voice and this song has a beautifully understated accompaniment that builds over the 5 minutes. Total jam. The rest of this album is mostly just pop to me. It's not my style most of the time, but Adele's voice is great.
She screams a lot.
Not my favorite album but you can’t deny her talent. Strong voice.
I love Adele's voice, but this album sounds like it's leaning a little too much on some of its influences. But I did like how many styles were covered. Overall I liked it okay.
She’s so talented and has a beautiful, powerful voice, but this isn’t really my taste.
I don’t dislike this. Don’t really care for it, either. Sounded like contemporary Christian music with sexy lyrics. It’s alright. I guess.
Well now, Adele is someone I’ve always been aware of but have never dug. This album is proof to me why. It’s just…ok, and that’s it. There’s a couple of great tunes on it, and there’s no doubting her talent as a songwriter and especially as a singer, but will I ever get home and think “I want to listen to Adele”? No, no I won’t.
Not my cup of tea, but a great artist, songs are composed well and the production is really good.
Some true amazing songs but a bit bloated with bland pop songs and repetitive stuff. 6/10
Adele is great but not my favorite.
Familiar with a lot of these but ‘I Miss You’ was the stand out
I got most enjoyment from the tracks I hadn't heard a million times. I like Adele's voice but over the course of a whole album the brassiness of it wore on me a bit. I think I'm being unfair because of overexposure though. If I was hearing this for the 1st time I reckon I'd be raving about it
don't like it as much as i remember, obviously her voice sounds nice but the piano ballads can get a bit boring, the more busy songs like 'water under the bridge' are a nice change of pace
for someone so talented she is unapologetically boring. i can kinda respect it tho. female charlie puth who i enjoy listening to a bit more
по результатам одного дня прослушивания надоел не так сильно как 19 и 21! хороший результат! но всё ещё не мой жанр и не мой тембр
It was nice to get a "fresh listen" on some of 25 again. Considering Adele was already a superstar following the incredibly well received 21, so many songs from 25 just immediately soared to #1 on radio charts and were just being played nonstop. It's been 7+ years since then, and I'm also someone who has more or less dumped listening to the radio. I have always thought "Hello" was an interesting album opener. It carries with it a lot of emotion and is overall a very powerful and beautiful song. It also seems to convey a bit of a reintroduction to Adele; she's letting the listener know upfront and immediately that she's not the same person as she was on 21. Ultimately, in keeping with elemental descriptor words, I would say 25 when compared to 21, is a more watery, less fiery soul album. It's generally more soft, peaceful, and reflective. As a result, this album ultimately has fewer "bops", but either way, Adele's raw vocal talent and skill are very much intact on what is a very well-crafted and well-sung album.
Beautiful
Adele has an amazing voice, and yet the album starts to feel repetitive after a while. Not at all bad, but didn't quite hit the mark for me. 3.5 stars.
This was okayish I suppose. I don't think I would have recognised an Adele track before as I have zero interest in pop music. I didn't recognise any of the songs on this album, but they were inoffensive, just maybe a bit bland in places. She has a good voice, so I'm going for a three.
After the fantastic 21, Adele has been unsure of her next career move and while this isn't as staggeringly pointless as 30, it represents the diminishing ambition many artists face when they achieve great mainstream popularity.
Immediately striking with a single package stronger than the debut, 25 remains over-mature and over-produced. It sits in the middle of the pack, realistically, the hum of the back of the record just maddening enough to be interesting. Glad Adele keeps coming back; Not sure why this visit took this form.
The voice is divine, no doubt about it. The music? Less so. Very much so. Would I ever listen to this album of my own free will? Nah. But I feel I should give this voice some credit.
She's very talented but there's nothing on here for me. Don't really like this kind of stuff but I hate giving a bad review to someone so obviously good, so 3 stars it is.
Good singer, but I think she's more about the lyrics. Otherwise all the songs sound pretty similar.
"Say Hello..." is a tune - didn't realise how much Self Esteem sounds like Adele (stylistically) until now. "Hello" is bang average though
No doubting the quality of the songs and Adele's voice but I found an entire album' worth of introspective, personal songs way too much
This is quite unexpected, but I was tempted to skip so, so many times. Just when I was getting really sick of the awful 2015 production on some of these tracks, they wisely decided to strip back the instrumentation for the last few tracks. Doesn't help much though. When "All I Ask" comes around, she sings "what if I never love again?", and I just want to shake her. Girl, have some self-awareness. Clearly, you have and you will love again. Apparently it's all you do. Calling this album 'mature' is laughable. I'm in my thirties now, and maybe I just can't handle this level of mid-twenties self-seriousness. Her stuff on 21 was better, across the board. "When We Were Young" is just about the only song that actually resonated with me, I think especially because it's such a funny thing to say in your mid-twenties but it feels vulnerable and genuine, and it has a profound tenderness for its subject that suggests more than what it says, and that has a sense of melancholy that isnt entirely focused on her own inability to let go, or at least, understands that things are inevitably going to change.
Adele has a great voice as usual, vocals are unmatched. Overall the songs were variations on a theme, lots of similar sounds, Hello was a huge hit when it came out, a decent album
I didn't enjoy it as an entire album as much as I thought, even though there are some excellent tracks here.
Little bit more pop than 21 and I think I preferred the more soulful sound of 21. The songs were all good but they just didn’t pack a punch as much as the ones off of 21. Singing was all outstanding as always though. Adele could sing basically anything and make it sound good. I think part of what hurt this one personally is that when I lifeguarded as a teenager the people at our pool would always ask us to put on key 103 and that station play Send My Love ALL FUCKING DAY. I started that song and was like “you know maybe enough time has past cuz these verses sound pretty good” then the chorus came and I got flashbacks to yelling at annoying ass kids and their alcoholic, entitled ass parents. 👍: hello, water, love in the dark
alright I don't know if Adele is THAT good..two albums???? Tommy wasn't lying this album is perfect for this weather. her vocals are impressive of course, I'm finding the album to be a bit underwhelming though. bro seriously her tracks with the least plays always end up being my faves. Sweetest devotion is a bop.
more backbone musically than 21, but otherwise just sort of "there"
Can't deny the talent, but it bores me.
Solid disposable pop. Which is not intended as a slight that , but rather a cautionary comment warning about overstating its lasting power.
Beautifully made
3.5/5
Adele's vocal talents are undeniable, and this is a well-polished and smoothly produced album. A bit too middle of the road for my liking, though I respect the talent.
its pretty cool songs repetitive though
Album Notes: - great highlights with some middling tracks - production is very average and safe - vocals and melodies carry - When We Were Young and All I Ask are EASILY the best tracks here I love the timeless melodies they have Best Tracks: When We Were Young, All I Ask Worst Tracks: Water Under The Bridge, Hello
-didn’t write a BL- AL: Adele is such a well known figure. And it’s no surprise, she’s got an amazing voice, so powerful and yet so fragile and never looses a hint of emotionality throughout any of it. However it just doesn’t click with me, I find that David Byrne said it best when he said “The better the singer’s voice, the harder it is to believe what they’re saying”. While Adele generally does hit home a lot better than the other pop stars out there I still find it hard connecting with her music. I suppose me and the mentality a 25 year old woman has are radically different from one another. So maybe I’ll change my mind at some point. As of right now however i had to say this album was OK, nothing more nothing less FT: “when we were young”, “remedy”, “a million years ago” 3/5
Never got into Adele. Yes she has a great voice, but I genuinely don’t believe she has soul. Watching her do carpool karaoke with (never very funny or relevant) James Corden proves this to me. She’s a pop star with an above average voice and some solid songs, but I wouldn’t put her material up there with the all time great singers.
AJ: I mean, she’s amazing. Imagine being able to take all your experiences and hurt and write them down and shout them out and sound so fucking good? Can’t afford to be sad all the time, but I mean, she’s amazing. Cat: What a powerhouse. She actually moves me to tears, just the raw emotion and tone of her voice, never mind the lyrics being great - paints a picture. Songs are so well written and produced. She’s incredible. Music is so beautiful. Can’t listen to her all the time because I’ll just be drained! Hot damn, Adele.
Adele has a beautiful voice, but this album’s songs were just average pop ballads. She could sing a grocery list and it would sound good.
Bill
Idk man feelar 21 e tillräckligt Adele för 1001, denhä har en okej hit (Hello) och en otroligt störande hit (Send my Love) och resten av a side är mediokert. Side B är bra och mysig pop musik och drar upp dehä till en svag trea.
Great singer. Hard to listen to a whole album at one time.
Probably the best voice of 21st century pop? She gets an extra star for writing her own material instead of having a 10 man songwriting team or algorithm do the work. Too many songs with a bare piano arrangement, I started to get bored as a result.
Not really my thing, well produced and an amazing voice though
I'm not sure what I expected here. But given Adele's talent and all the adulation she gets, I don't know... maybe something less boring? She has a lovely voice, but production is bland and most of these songs are pretty forgettable. Low 3. Fave Songs: Love in the Dark, Remedy, Water Under the Bridge
It's Adele. It's.... fine.
If I allowed myself to feel or pretended to do so on every commute looking out a rainy window on public transit, I’d probably be super into Adele. Great musicality and voice three cheers
I enjoyed this record a good bit. She’s got such a great voice and really great phrasing that really heightens the pop song chords. Does drag a bit towards the middle but has some absolute earworms.
I never really listened to Adele at all, and I tried to go into this album with really fair expectations. I have to say... this album was full of songs that sounded EXACTLY like an album full of Adele songs to sound. And that's okay - she has a good voice, the songs sound meaningful, etc. But there isn't enough there for me to rate it more than average. Ultimately, Adele sings a ballade everytime.
Adele is an extremely talented singer, she's beautiful, and seems to be quite funny and charming in interviews as well. So yeah, overall, I'd say I like her well enough. But I never quite want to listen to her music. This album, for example: it's a fine pop album, but it seems like the sort of thing that would be playing in my mom's car stereo. It often sounds like radio fluff, or like well-trodden territory. To be fair, I don't believe this album to be one of her best. Even the singles here are sort of boring, which is not a problem that her previous album 21 ever had. I just don't know if this is the album of hers that should've made it to this list. I've always really like "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)", though. Fun song.
Good album much better than expected
Definitely mom music, but some of the last couple songs, Million Years Ago and All I Ask, with just her voice and an instrument really blew me a way. I wish the whole album was that personal, but instead they mostly went the mid-2010's pop production style, and it really drags it down.
Her voice is amazing. The production is amazing. But...it just feels like something is missing? The risk-taking thing kind of just sounds like people parroting music critics, but I guess that could explain how I feel overall. Favorite track: Send My Love (To Your New Lover)
Something tells me she may have gone through a break-up.
Adele is at her best when she is belting out big vocals. While there are a couple songs that do this, the majority feel shadowed by overarching instruments. I think all I Ask might be one of my favourite songs from her. Real rating 3.5/5
Adele is generally not my cup of tea but you have to admit, she is great at making the type of music she makes. My problem with this is that I can tolerate maybe 2 well-placed ballads on an album, otherwise I get bored. Got a soft spot for All I Ask though.
This is a perfectly fine album, but I don't think it really deserves a "you NEED to listen to this" designation. It's not really significant. 21 is worthy of that, I think -- this is just the weaker follow-up to a modern classic. Whatever though, it's still a nice listen. Favorite track: Water Under the Bridge
If I am honest, not amazes by this album. Too much warbling. Outstanding song is hello and then goes downhill. Solid enough but not planning on listening again
Adele has a ton of talent. Her third album showed that with her vocal range. The songs however were pretty boring and morose compared to her previous two albums. I get there may be a reason behind that but overall this album didn’t have the great quality that 21 had. Hello is a good song and vocally she’s one of the best modern pop singers. Overall this is okay but not the best. 6.2/10
This wasn’t bad. The first song is a highlight but also establishes a formula of soft, piano driven verses followed by blown-out choruses. It’s very 2010s-ish. A million years ago and all I ask are refreshing, with their colorful chords and vocal melodies
Hmmm…. She certainly does have a great voice. Rich and smooth. But there doesn’t seem to be a whole hell of a lot else going on. It sounded better in the evening, making dinner and drinking a beer, than in the morning with coffee and a crossword. But in both cases, it was sort of just hanging out in the corner, a good-looking vase or a thriving potted plant. Yep, that’s nice, but I’m not going to dwell on it. 3/5.
3.5
Ooit op vakantie met de fam dat andere album veel gedraaid, vond dat wel leuker eigenlijk. Mooie stem, maar muziek die ik zelf nooit opzet
I respect Adele, because I think she's one of the few modern artists who are popular for actually being talented (genuinely what is the deal with people like Ed Sheeran?). She's got some pipes, man. That being said, this is not as consistent as "21" and way simpler. Too many songs here feel like throwaways and nothing reaches the same highs as "Hello" and "When We Were Young". Good album, not an essential listen though. I can see why they removed this from newer editions of the book.
Definitely not Adele's best album but the singles were superb. Her voice is excellent, the piano is excellent I do not know how in God's name Beyonce lost to this when 21 was Adele's best. Having heard 30 makes me realize that Adele could expand more sonically and artistically
Just a regular pop album and I really don't like modern pop
She’s a proper Spurs fan so that gives her a boost from the jump. 3/5
Nice, but nearly as classic as “21”. 3/5
Hyvää poppia ja ehkä sitä 2010-luvun parempaa, mutta ei siltikään mitään aivan taivaallista
Tjoa. Der Kritik, auf dem Album sei zu wenig gewagt worden, schließe ich mich an.
Love her voice and style. I think the album is fine. Not really sure that it belongs on this list. Newer albums need more time to prove themselves… this is just too recent. It’s good, but…. 3/5
I like most of the track on this album, I really tracks like WWWY or Send my love, shit, I still have to this day Million Years Ago and All I Ask in rotation on my playlists, but man, I'm just learning this is the ONLY Adele album on the list and I have to say It does not make any sense. Is this record a legendary record with youthful bless? No, that’s 19. Is this a legendary breakthrough which took the whole world by surprise and made an instant classic of its author and itself? Nah! That was 25!! Don’t get me wrong, it is a nicely produced and soulful, but none of its tracks go as hard as the ones on the first record. Even if you don’t like Adele, those are records to be heard. This one on the other hand is something we had already seen and with lesser spark than it predecessors. So let’s see, songs like All I ask and Million years ago (which I fully believe it’s written over an Spaniard 70’s song) could easily make this song a 4 stars, but, that fourth star will have to go as it should be 25 and not this, the one on the list.
Not in my edition of the book! 2015. 3 stars No doubting that she can write a tune and has got a good voice but... I don't think she's moved on from her earlier (and better albums). This goes on a bit, and on a lot of the songs she sounds like a pub singer. It's perfectly acceptable fare, but it's not essential. If you're going to have one Adele album, listen to 21.
Puede que sea el disco de Adele que menos me gusta. Aún así qué bien canta!!! No puedes negarlo. La cuestión es que la fama en general la hece menos disfrutable para mí.
Might be an Adele fan 3/5
Lovely, rich voice full of soul and emotion. No real hits on this collection, so not special and really only a trillion seller based on her star power alone. I won't be listening to 25 again since 19 and 21 are so much better.
The first 90 seconds of this album are emotionally powerful, but this genre isn't my speed. There are a couple tracks I thoroughly enjoyed, but I the rest didn't hit for me. Overall great production and excellent material.
Not something I would normally listen to but actually an amazingly strong opening. Kind of tales off in mediocrity for me, probably wouldn't put on the full album again though I enjoyed it more than I thought.
Fine Pop album.
Hallo
Broken up hey?
Powerful and captivating voice. Adele knows how to convey her feelings and hypnotize her listeners. A couple of majestic songs in this album but, should I feel any type of shame for considering that most of the album sounds the same? Yes, those songs were performed flawlessly (compared to other things in the pop landscape, are gold). I am quite sure that’s my problem, because Adele has lots of praise and success and is one of the most talented pop stars of our era.
Not her best and becomes tedious
3.25
I think her prior album was much better. Good overall.
6/10
There's no denying that Adele has an incredible voice that commands your attention, singing lyrics that you feel in your core - whether or not you've experienced it first hand. Her hits are worthy of being hits (both those from this album an those throughout her entire career), but the deep cuts here are just okay. They aren't particularly memorable or influential, and I feel like a voice as strong as Adele's deserves music that's more groundbreaking than this. 25 is catchy but a bit too regular for Adele. Still some good songs though, like When We Were Young, Hello, and River Lea.
I know she's good. It must doesn't grab me, I don't need to listen to again.
What a voice. Sounds started to all sound the same to me - I don't think I am the target audience here...
What a voice. The production on this album is amazing. Nevertheless it's an album made of a 25-year-old who, at the cusp of adulthood, thinks they know everything there is to know about life (I did too!). Heartbreak suited her better.
Not mine
Fine, not one that I would buy, but fine.
Top notch vocal. The music, however, is far outside of my wheelhouse. It is that type of music that is so bland.
Adele has an amazing voice and I'm not usually into her music. However, I did like it more than I thought and when I am concentrating on the music I found I liked many more songs. Overall I thought it was decent. Highlights were "Hello", "Water Under the Bridge" and "Sweetest Devotion".
Not as good as the other one, hearing hello is like a time machine back to 2015.
Gal has pipes
Adele is incredibly talented but also has a habit of writing some tedious piano ballads that don't really go anywhere. This album is far less fun and impactful than the previous two and less raw and emotional than her latest one and is just a very middling point in her discography. There are some incredible songs here - Send My Love is really fun, and All I Ask is absolute gorgeous. Just a shame that a lot of the stuff in the middle is so lifeless
It was a good album, I would probably listen to it again.
This has to be the most popular and recent album on this list so far. I think in terms of the most known pop singers from 2010s, only Taylor Swift is more popular than Adele. Surprisingly, the album chosen in here is "25". If I had to guess, the record with more singles and hits is "21", at least it stands out much more. In case of the former, the only hit that I know of is "Hello", which actually is a pretty good song. It was a summer tune, but definitely it has quality and the lyrics are slightly more meaningful than of your usual hot tracks list. The album starts pretty strong with songs like "Send My Love" and "I Miss You", but soon after that the quality of the album drops, and we are greeted by fillers, or just a bunch of uninteresting songs. I'm not a big fan of anything there, let it be for music or lyrics. It's clear that Adele has a powerful voice, but it's not enough for me to be kept interested in the album. Not a record I would choose from the popular music in 2010s.
Some solid songs from a very talented vocalist, but by minute 30 I was ready for it to be over.
Kelpo tulkintaa ja hieno ääni, mutta ei kosketa sielua (jos sellainen olisi).
Quite listenable not really my thing Fav song: when we were young Least fav song: hello
Great voice, but little variety in the album.
mom music
Lar tvilen komme til gode her
-I like "Hello," "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)," "When We We're Young, and "Water Under the Bridge" since I heard them enough on the radio -I like the drums and the harmonies in "I Miss You" -The harmonies and swells into the main chorus in "River Lea" are great -My familiarity with it maybe held boostit, but it's right on the border of strong 3 and weak 4
Here's the thing: I listened to this album on Spotify. And then it did the whole "You listened to 25, so you'll like this..." and it played another Adele track: "Right As Rain" from her 19 album. I liked that one song better than the whole of the 25 album. Why? Because it was different than all of that album. 25 seemed to just be torch song after torch song. It just... got very morose. Halfway in, I was looking for a knife to slit my wrists (ok not really, but you get the idea). I will say I did not hear as much vocal processing. Adele's distinct vocals were very easy to pick out; it did not sound like anyone else (which always frustrates me, how autotune will usually kill any uniqueness of a person's voice.) So the album is pretty depressing just because the songs themselves feel the same (I think the 4th song was a little upbeat, and maybe one other). So as well done it was, and how great of a voice Adele has, it's not going to be something I go back to.
9/6/22
First few seconds of this album I thought she was going to do a Lionel Ritchie cover. Thank goodness that mission was aborted. Her voice is amazing but the songwriting would be nothing without her voice. Also, her musicians are kept on a tight leash in all but a few songs. It's too bad that her singing is trapped in a one dimensional world. I'm rounding up due to her voice.
I remember seeing Adele perform Hello live at an awards ceremony the year it was released. I got goosebumps when she belted out the first note of the chorus and the crowd went wild. She has one of greatest and most recognizable voices of her generation. Young girls, and older ones too, must go crazy for her lyrics. On this LP I prefer the songs that aren’t the most popular. River Lea has a bit of a gospel feel, Million Years ago sounds like something I would have heard on 8-track in my uncle’s car in the 60s, I think I Miss You is my favourite with its moody feel. As a side note, it’s interesting that, Adele, like Beyonce & Amy Weinstein had all the songs written or co-written by the producers, who have very impressive resumes. I'm giving one less point than her 21 album.
Good enough for background music but I honestly don't see what the big deal was. Certainly not worthy of a cultural phenomenon spanning years and years
For an international powerhouse, who's third album stirred up so much hype, this has a lot of skipable tracks. Great voice but rudimentary song writing.
I've heard probably half of these songs. Not really my type of music, but Adele has a great voice and I mostly like the songs fine. I did find the general tone a little sad and depressing though.
Starke Balladen und 1-2 Lieder die auch abseits ihres Radio-Pop-Daseins eine gute Figur machen
She certainly does have some powerful pipes.
She can sing, f'sure, but about half of these songs are too straight forwardy pop to properly hold my attention. Some of them had some quite nice wall of sound cinematic production, I guess. Fave track - "Hello", I guess?
EVERYTHING IS SO DRAMATIC AND HOW DOES ADELE GET THROUGH A DAY WITHOUT WARBLING
of course we're familiar with this album. I think it was overplayed and that usually dampers my association with an album/songs. I don't think this is her best album but i do think it's better than her newest one. 19 & 21 still are the top. i was also listening to adele in high school or middle school? before she blew up so 19 & 21 hold a special place. this shouldn't have won over lemonade.
Beautiful, powerful voice. 5/5 stars for that. Of course the music isn’t my favorite and, as most music these days is, the focal point is the vocals. To me, vocals should be a supporting role to the music and nothing more. The music and instruments are much more important.
Cheer up luv, its not that bad. Cracking pipes but not really for me
Better than i remembered, or at least the first half was. The piano and vocal balads as shite though. Undeniable talent, but not always used to her full potential
Love Adele the person. Her music just does nothing for me. That's cool, she's chill about it.
None of the tunes made an impact on me. She has a strong voice, though she sounds like she has a sore throat. The back up vocals are nice, and there's some pretty piano in there as well.
She has a classically trained voice, which is raised by the professional production. There is more depth to the mood of the album than an average pop album. The album is piano and string driven. The songs with drums act as high points to the album. The guitar driven song is a nice breath in arrangement near the end. The album is bookended by two stand out songs. The middle gets washed out in mood from too many similar feeling songs.
Very well written pop songs that allow Adele to highlight her vocal abilities without resorting to going to a falsetto for every song (a common complaint I have with modern pop vocalists). Overall though I found the first half of the album to be much stronger than the second half. The main highlight for me on the second half was the closer Sweetest Devotion. It just felt like all the tracks after Water Under the Bridge ran into eachother until reaching Sweetest Devotion.
A few undoubtedly popular/great songs, but I was underwhelmed with the majority of the album. Highlight: Hello Lowlight: Million Years Ago
Not my thing, did not enjoy
One of the few modern pop stars I really can get into.
Adele has such a wonderful voice and phrasing that this record is a bit of a let down. 19 absolutely belongs on this list, 21 perhaps, but not this. Some good tracks and beautiful production, especially the piano accompaniments, but not her best.
OK, but not for me
