Reviews (page 7 of 13)
You know what I do love Adele but this is not my favourite album.
As a casual listener of Adele, I’ve always been aware of the hits without delving much deeper. However, I have long admired her vocal prowess; she is truly wonderful in that regard. Crucially, she avoids the trap of over-singing, a common pitfall for many vocalists with similar technical abilities. I found "25" to be a sophisticated album, boasting clear production and excellent arrangements. Yet, on the whole, the material doesn't quite live up to Adele’s immense talent. The track list feels somewhat light on truly memorable moments, with 'Million Years Ago' being perhaps the only standout that lingers. While there is plenty to admire and enjoy here, it remains a 'good' rather than 'great' record. Three stars. 1 "Hello" (4/5) 2 "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" (3/5) 3 "I Miss You" (4/5) 4 "When We Were Young" (3/5) 5 "Remedy" (3/5) 6 "Water Under the Bridge" (4/5) 7 "River Lea" (4/5) 8 "Love in the Dark" (3/5) 9 "Million Years Ago" (4/5) 10 "All I Ask" (3/5) 11 "Sweetest Devotion" (3/5) Total - 38 Average - 3.45 248/1001 137/248 albums reviewed were new to me
Pretty good. Not my genre of music but I liked it.
A well crafted album which has more variety than earlier Adele efforts. Not my thing though. 3
I’m torn on this one. She sings beautifully, but ends up being a bit boring for me, except for the hits. 6/10 Pretty Good
Just by passive exposures it is apparently one of the albums I know best thus far. Really nice voice, okay songs - still nothing that I would listen to voluntarily.
Nice voice, have heard Beth listening to this one before
An obviously beautiful voice. I'd never really clocked how much this album talks about her getting old. But... 25?? Almost got angry about it at one point when she'd said it for the third time. Stop whining and say something different.
She has great vocals and they really focus on them in every song by putting her voice at the forefront. But some of her high notes felt slightly jarring even for me who loves higher vocals generally.
Amazing voice but not that impressing
She’s got the vocal chops, but this is a snooze fest. At least 21 had some chutzpah
I never really quite got the hype around Adele. Send My Love really took me out because a) I didn’t even realise it was an Adele song and b) it’s inclusion in this album, as second track no less, is honestly baffling. Having said all that, there are some very poignant, emotional moments to be found throughout the album. 3.5/5
Another great Adele album. If you are familiar with her work then you pretty much know what to expect. Several big hit songs and some other good ones too that showcase her vocal talent. Not necessarily something that I would choose to listen to on my own but it was nice listening to it.
Stærke sange: - Hello - River Lea - Million Years Ago
Perfectly fine. I imagine it would be a lot better had you not heard an Adele song because there wasn't much original from her previous work on here at all. Still a great singer and songwriter, no doubt.
It’s good.
Some songs peak really hard. I have heard this before and "Send my Love" and "When we were young" are bops.
I’ve never been much of an Adele fan. The hits are so overly emotive as to be cheesy. The deeper cuts on this album are pretty good though.
Adele by numbers
I remember the advert to launch this album. I was playing FIFA on a monitor in the room whilst the wife was watching X-Factor. I pretty much instantly went to Twitter to see if everyone suspected it was Adele. It was a great viral moment. I like some of Adeles songs, Hello is a pretty decent song, but I wouldn't say I'm a fan or that bothered overall. There is no doubting her impact though and that's why that ad was so effective. 3/5 some good songs, she has a great voice and I recognise her contribution to music. Overall not for me though.
I like the lyrics of Hello, how they are are open to interpretation, etc., and she had a great voice, but then the backing instrumentation is just way overblown by the end, I would love a smaller, more intimate cover. Send My Love was a fun tune. Remedy, and a lot of these other songs, are really overdone, oversung, and surface-level. Something about the rhythm of the singing in the final Sweetest Devotion reminds me of Enya.
This is pretty bland. Some decent songs but all seem to be about the same thing. She doesn't throw crap songs at the end so that's a bonus. The 2nd song on the album is definetely stolen 😅
meh
HELLO…. ITS ME…. I WAS WONDERING IF AFTER ALL THESE YEARS IF THIS ALBUM WAS STILL GOOD AND IT’S STILL EEEEHHHHHH!
Fantastic singer. I can’t believe this album is more than 10 years old. Definitely those three solid gold hits, but tbh, not too much more than that for me here. 2.5
“It matters how this ends, ‘cause what if I never love again?” Obligatory “man, what a fucking voice, holy shit can this person sing, god damn” comment, because holy shit can Adele sing. What a voice. I wonder once again if ‘30’ will be included on this list eventually. I think that’d be a more worthy entry than this particular Adele album, but whatever. Sounds like there’s a new edition coming out in October ‘26 anyways. That being said, this album is better than I remember. I thought it was longer than it is, and while some of the songs feel a little bloated it is mostly time appropriately used. It was hard to hear the big hits from this with fresh ears, but if I can work past the listening fatigue they are sturdy, worthy songs (especially “Send My Love (To Your New Lover)”). It’s not her fault radio loves her. “All I Ask” is one of her crowning achievements of songwriting and vocal performance, in my opinion. Could break the heart of a single person or person in relationship both. I don’t think she’s the best lyricist to walk the earth or anything, but she does find ways to speak very directly to the human experiences that can pierce through me when I’m not expecting it.
I really thought I'd enjoy this a lot more because I was familiar with a few of the songs and they're pretty incredible. Turns out, the hits are hits for a reason, and the rest of the album is just OK.
Worst thing about this album is the cover. Scares the hell out of me. Why is she looking at me like that. Fantastic voice as always, but I felt like I wanted something different from the production. It either felt too safe or too much, but I guess that’s what happens when an album is carried by its vocalist. I was surprised to find that some of the songs that have been overplayed by the radio were still a delight to hear. Others were just a pain to have to listen to again. Overall, solid listen.
objectively good. not my sound.
Who doesn't like Adele? Not my favorite era but she knows what she's doing
Some wonderful songs even if I don't consider it outstanding.
Stays afloat the whole time -- the one song that I didn't know before that grabbed me was "Sweetest Devotion", but the banger here is "Send My Love to Your New Lover", I think the clear achievement of this album that otherwise I find lesser to all of her other albums (this weirdly was the only one I had never checked out). Good but not especially great ya know
shes got a nice voice and the songwriting is competent but nothing really feels like, sticky, for me
Undeniable vocal prowess but majority of the tracks don't light a fire in me
An amazing vocalist, for sure. Her style of vocal pop isn’t something I'm drawn to. 'Hello' is a great song, and 'Water Under the Bridge' caught my attention, whether I wanted it to or not.
Apparently Adele named her albums after how many times Len Houmous tried it on with her. She was his 21st century Joni Mitchell. 3.2 5/11 Remedy
She can sing but signers don't do it for me.
3/5
Adele is ridiculously talented, so I refuse to give her anything less than three stars. Her voice is still incredible, and there’s no denying how good of a performer and writer she is, especially at such a young age. That alone deserves respect. That said, this album just didn’t hit me the same way 21 did. Nothing here grabbed me or stuck around once it was over, even though everything is polished and well done.
So,e excellent songs but drops off toward the end. Crazy voice
I’ve definitely never intentionally listened to this whole album, but I knew almost every song. So that’s something. By the time we were about halfway through though I was starting to get bored, seemed like there were really only two songs here, the slower ballads and the faster pop songs.
Première fois que j'écoute un album au complet d'elle. Comme dirait China ça vaut un 2 mais on peut lui donner 3 pour sa voix.
Pleasantly surprised by the quality but the whole album is the same "I miss my ex" and there's not enough variety in songs for me
good
3/5
adele has a nice voice but i have never really been particularly fond of her music, having only heard it on the radio, in stores, etc. unfortunately i find her music to be very dull. i wish i liked it more, because i do like her voice. the production here is pretty bare bones and stark, but there are some production moments that have not aged so well - particularly the production on 'water under the bridge' sounds like royalty free music on a youtube pre-roll ad. i suspect this is not her fault and they are taking the sound from her, but it still sounds pretty awful in retrospect.
Canciones que no sabía que estaban ahí, como canciones famosas. No se porque no me encanta Adele aunque yo quiera! Pero es un buen álbum.
I've got nothing against Adele. Great voice. Like her as person (from the little bit I know). Enjoy her music in small doses. Her style is just not something I would normally listen to at length. While I was already familiar with many of her songs, this was the first time listening to a full album. It hasn't changed my opinion. Great for one song at a time, but a full album of them just sound too similar and not really my thing.
sinceramente? é o menos bom dela eu acho. gosto do 19 e do 21 mas esse é tão... sei lá ela parece velha nele.
a voz dela é incrível, os arranjos são lindamente orquestrados, mas... não consigo gostar.
I think this is a 2.5, but the vocal talent feels illegal to assign a 2 to so it’s probably a bland 3? It’s probably a 2
Couple of bangers but after that not overly fussed
Great vocals. Wonderful production. But the songs themselves are just not for me. Had I heard this completely fresh, I might have a slightly higher opinion. But this just brings me back to a time that I simply have no desire to revisit. And that’s a me problem, so I cannot completely blame dear Adele for that.
I was sort of excited to listen to this because there are a few Adele songs I really like. I was disappointed by the non-singles. I absolutely love When We Were Young. The only other song that stuck out to me was Water Under the Bridge. Other than that, kind of plain and same-soundy as all 'diva' radio music.
This kind of balladry is really not my thing.
everything here is incredible, but almost everything is like a minute too long too
I really liked the ballads, but the other stuff, not so much.
Melodic ballads
Found it bit low energy
Her voice doesn’t need all of the pop production around it, it takes away from it
I feel the same as NinaQ... just a blur of sad ballads.
Great voice.
Good pop music. Very good voice. Very compressed production.
Marcante, e aquela música é muito plágio
Great voice, boring songs.
I know I should like this more, it is an album full of hits. But it just didn't land too hard for me. Maybe I've just heard the songs too often?
Adele has a beautiful voice, and she's a lovely person. Her songs are very emotionally touching and well written. It just is not my jam. I listenednto the entire album to give it a fair shake, and just can't see myself listening again on purpose.
It's alright. Great voice, songs are fine. Weird there are 2 Adele albums on this list
I'm surprised that this one was included instead of 21. I love "Water Under the Bridge", and the rest were generally alright.
It’s ok.
Only liked a couple songs. The ballads got repetitive. Fav: sweetest devotion (banger)
love her voice, like the record, it works. love in the dark was my favvv
An okay album, not for me, not sure I love an entire album that is a ballad. But she’s very talented.
Much better than I thought on the first pass. Quite listenable, I never really gave her much of a chance but will come back to this one. 3.5 stars. What a voice.
очевидно, что альбом популярный и iconic. но чтобы получать удовольствие от прослушивания надо разделять те же эмоции, что и адель - поэтому он пока не для меня
Well is has a bangers and ofcourse, Adele's voice is etheral. But there is a reason why 21 is still in every record store en 25 is not and it is felt too.
Poor woman has never gotten over anything in her life
3.0 stars I was expecting more. I've loved the singles I've heard from her over the years. she's got an amazing voice but these songs didn't really hit with me. Favorite songs: Hello & Sweetest Devotion
Ridiculously talented vocalist, but I can only take so much of a whole album of nothing but dramatic songs about relationships. Can begin to sound the same.
Not great
ja ne, die klavier "solos" waren noch mein lieblingsteil von den Songs. In 2023 hab ich Adele echt viel gehört, auch das Album. Aber inzwischen ist es echt nicht mehr meins.
Great voice but not my thing
Man there was one song that sounded straight up like something from a commercial. Still I feel it would be wrong to give it 2. Even though its not something I would listen to normally, some of the songs were not half bad
Nostalgic music for me, there were many songs that I recognized from the radio growing up. Adele has an incredible singing voice and style, and the songwriting definitely takes care to highlight Adele’s vocals. Hearing more unfamiliar songs gave me the ability to listen to this era of Adele uncolored by nostalgia/history, but I think the stronger tracks were the ones that became the most popular.
Wonderful voice
Great vocals. I knew the opening track and that might be the only song I had ever heard. I wouldn't be against listening to this album again. The hype for Adele is too much... similar to Taylor Swift. Is it great or just overly hyped. I didn't cringe at anything on this album and will dive a beat deeper to know what the songs are about.
de facto, a dele é uma boa artista e o álbum está um bom álbum mesmo não sendo muito do meu gosto musical
She’s got a great voice and if piano ballads are your thing, this is for you. Unfortunately it’s not my thing and this album is not for me.
Decent modern pop record with Adele’s powerful, earnest voice.
It's classic Adele.
Very strong vocals. Brings some talent back to pop music. Some very strong song writing by other artists.
I prefer Adele’s earlier music, but this is still lovely.
She has such a strong powerful voice, and it was fun listening to an album that i've heard other stuff of of 6.5/10
Nunca la había escuchado. Realmente me parece todo muy bien hecho y su voz no me resulta desagradable como creía. Pero no me transmite nada, me parece música ambiente de calidad.
So like she was going through a divorce with this one yeah? Cause there is a lot of miss the old times songs. Makes me think of thousands of divorced moms just belting this album out in their cars on the way to get Starbucks. She has talent though. Her voice is beautiful I just feel that all the songs are alike. I'd like to see her do something wild and push it. I will listen to more of her stuff because of this album though.
The bottom line is that this album is just not as good as 21. If you want to listen to an Adele album, 21 is the one you should listen to, unless you are a major fan I guess. When We Were Young is kinda an all timer though.
active gym listening - not right mindset. great for listening while playing spire or something tho :)
Remember liking this more when it came out. Still some standout songs though 2.75/5
her voice is so good
2.5 not for me
Very nice for somebody else
Hello
Comme je m'attendais: beaucoup de forçage de voix et beaucoup de pleurniche. Je vais être clément par contre, Send My Love est quand même un banger à ne pas piquer des hannetons
Decent album
White women music (positive). I love you Adele, they will never make me hate you.
Pleasant to the ear, but nothing mind-blowing
Surprisingly good.. Enjoyed it much more than I expected. Some really cool songs. Doesn't quite flow as a full record for me
This may have hit better at 27 than it did at 25. There are some skips so I’m giving it 3 stars
Just ok
Too much of a good thing is possible
This was ten years ago now. Good Lord….. She has a great voice. She can whisper and she can belt. Her voice sits in a really nice range, as well. Gritty tone when she wants it. “Hello” doesn’t do it for me. “Send my love” sounds like someone else- ??? Oh god is it IMAGINE DRAGONS??? MIA? Or even worse- both? Argh. Maybe “Girls Chase Boys?” "I Miss You" has that weird, halting beat that sounds like it's off but it isn't - turns out to be a fine song. Then the album gets a bit gray and mushy for me - the middle of this record isn't bad just not particuarly memorable. Then - the last three songs things really picked up. I loved "All I Ask" and "Sweetest Devotion" especially. Not sure why they saved the best two songs or last but they did. "25" definitely feels like a sophomore slump album (yes - I know - it's her 3rd). You spend your whole life writing the songs for your first album (or two, in this case) and then - bam - you're out of ideas. And you make something - but it isn't *quite* as good as your previous efforts. It's fine, but it feels like there was a better album before this one.... THREE STARS
- "girl with piano and a lot of reverb" is a whole genre, but Adele is arguably the queen - at one point, my three roommates in college were all playing this song at the same time while in their respective rooms, so my perspective going in was not positive. however, I enjoyed it more than I thought I would - as I'm not 25 anymore, the lyrics were a little melodramatic, but I'm sure I would have resonated with them in some way if I was more into dramatic pop music at the time (or now) - still, a solid effort that did seem to speak to a lot of people at the time. if the radio hadn't overplayed so many of these songs a decade ago, I might have called myself an almost-fan
It’s fine but mostly basic pop. Her voice is truly amazing but she refuses to be interesting with it
Franchement pas mal, belle voix mais ça m'a pas touché du tout
Pas mon style
She’s got the pipes, no argument. But the material is weepy and a bit boring. How many times can a heart be broken? I guess for Adele, 25 and counting.
Great singer. Not as many good songs as on 19.
Not meant for me, but for 5 years you couldn’t escape Hello and Send My Love- and maybe there is a good reason why. When we were young makes me want to gouge my ears out though. First half way way stronger than 2nd.
While I think she got closer to something strong on this than she did with 21, there's still a pretty bad pacing issue with this album. She's still very ballad heavy, and on the one hand I get it, ballads are where she can sing the most. But listening to that many in a row is just not the best experience. Still some really strong highlights though. Favorites: Hello, Send My Love (To Your New Lover), Million Years Ago
I have a lot of admiration for Adele. Her music has had such a profound impact on so many people and she's immensely talented, and she came by her success honestly. I had small children in the Adele era and her music was omnipresent at that time - so I have a lot of positive memories attached to her music, especially the album "21". I had forgotten that this album dwelled so much (and so monolithically) on her heartbreaks and the massive life transitions she was experiencing. I suspect this album spoke (and still speaks) to a lot of people, but it wasn't written for me; which of course is totally fine, but I can't really connect with it. I think it is fair to say this album accomplishes what it sets out to accomplish and does it reasonably well. Personal preferences aside, I think it is also fair to critique the album for being too one-note - more musical risk taking, and more translation of her personal experiences into more universal themes would have been lovely. Lyrically its all too literal, and after a while the music just gets so dreary and monotonous. I wish the strong personal experiences she wanted to work through and express had led to more artistry and creativity, frankly.
miss adele already know most of these songs just by listening on the radio wish i would've listened to this album when i was 25 but here i am, freshly 28 giving it a shot i think this album was really going for commercial success which is why it's a bit mid and i think even adele knows this... and why some people question where the risk is kind of crazy this is the album that beat Beyonce's Lemonade and while adele really is that girl, i very much so understand why she had the reaction she did when we were young is an all time banger though
Not as good as her earlier stuff but still some bangers on there
Her smoky voice is really fascinating. I genuinely think so. But, strangely enough, I didn’t feel very drawn to this album. Maybe it’s just a matter of taste. If I had an amazing voice like hers, I think I’d want to explore very different kinds of music.
Her third album. Pop. Hello is a really big opening track. Fantastic. Adele's voice is just great and it hits hard. When We Were Young is also one I like. The rest of the album stays in that safe 'Pop' lane. I am left wishing she'd take more risks both musically and with the subject matter. Unbelievably talented, safe.
Ещё один поп-блокбастер.
Naaah, jednak tylko single. Wspaniały wokal, ale kompozycje banalne
I simply ADORE Adele's voice and the whole album was better than I remembered.
not a fan
"Hello"?.....More like GOODBYE!!!!
Amazing vocalist, with soul grabbing stories. Production values through the roof, this truly wakes up my audio gear; it's like she is singing right next to me in a huge studio space, the players are there but way out there. Sadly this type of music isn't really my jam. While I enjoy the whole as a masterful product of the music industry machine, mainstream pop music doesn't really work for me.
It's good. There are some big hits in there but also some filler. Good background music.
She’s got some bangers and soaring moments but it’s overwhelmingly fine
Büro, Heidenheim, Deutschland. Schon gut, ja.
It's alright, nothing really stands out to me
Oh yeah Adele… worth some more listening
Bom álbum, mas sem grandes nuances.
I get why so many people love this. You could argue it's pop perfection... Adele can definitely sing and has a recognisable voice (which some hate but better that than a bland voice). The album is beautifully produced too. And yet... it's all too cheesy and cliché, for me to score high on this list there needs to be novelty not just popularity, or plain musical genius. There is neither of that here. This is nothing I would choose to listen to but I'll probably have to, as long as radios and celebrity dance programmes exist. This is probably the best sounding 3 I've given.
Poszczególne utwory są dobre, ale ciężko słuchać jako album
100% need to be in a particular mood to listen to this. Sad, moody, lonely, basically a perfect period listen. Some songs were absolutely my style while others, well…
Amazing voice on Adele! I'm right in the fence between a 4 and a 5. The genres not my fave but her voice almost pushes it over
It wasn't what I was looking for
Love some of the songs, felt meh about others.
Pretty good for what it is, which is basically an adult contemporary album. If you're in the mood for slower songs with feeling, this is pretty good. I'd give it 3 stars out of 5, because basically I need to be in this kinda mood to enjoy this album. Great voice, however. That is not up for debate.
Pretty good
Yes it’s a classic! I loved it when it was out in 2015!
I am a huge fan of Adele. I was blessed with the opportunity to see her live in Vegas on Christmas Eve a few years ago and it was as magical as you could have imagined. That said, this is my least favorite Adele album and always has been. Should NOT have won album of the year over Lemonade. Her weakest work is still groundbreaking, to be fair. My beef with this album has always been that there are very bright moments on the album, but as a full cohesive project, it isn't as strong as her other outputs. 21 and 30 do a fantastic job of telling a full, complete story. "Send My Love" has such a fun beat that feels like a callback to her debut, 19, with minimal instrumentation. "I Miss You" has a really interesting soundscape and is my partner's favorite track on the album due to the heavy tom beat. "When We Were Young" is such a special song. I don't know what I could say right now that would be fair of the track because watching her perform it live with all these photos of her childhood in the background was magical and sad and sweet all at the same time. My favorite song on the album is "All I Ask" - which was co-written with Bruno Mars and I don't know how to articulate his particular sound, but you could close your eyes and hear him sing this as well. The instrumentation is simple to suit the heaviness of the story being told. "All I ask is if this is my last night with you, hold me like I'm more than just a friend" UGHHH. That melody!!! "It matters how this ends 'cause what if I never love again" OUCH. I have definitely cried a handful times listening to this track. It is insane though, because Adele always has a devastating ballad at the end of her albums and this is also one of my least favorites! A testament to her songwriting ability, but if you love this song, just put on "To Be Loved" from 30. My overall feeling with this album is that when I listen to it, I just want to turn on 30 or 21 and listen to those albums because they came to me at such pivotal moments. Like each track on this album has a stronger counterpart on a different album. I still love it, don't get me wrong! It's just ranked 4th out of 4 for me.
This is fine. There were some songs that shocked me with how much i liked them and some that shocked me with how much i didn't like them.
boring
3,5
More of the same stuff from Adele. If you like "21" you'll like this. Apparently this album had the record for first week album sales until just recently being beat by Taylor Swift's "Life of a Showgirl". Even though I wasn't that impressed by this album, it's at least much better than that dog shit. Whatever man. Favorite track: Million Years Ago 2.5/5
Great sound. Voice I remember, but none of the lyrics from this album stuck with me
Laptop? What? This is the soundtrack of days out with my parents. They still have a CD changer in their car and I’m pretty sure four of the five trays are taken up by Adele albums. I went into this ready to roll my eyes, but she actually is a very good singer. Not as many hits on this album as on her others, but if you don’t think she has an incredible voice you’re just lying for the sake of it.
Started really strongly but fell off towards the end
I've never listened to an Adele album before but after listening to this, honestly pretty good album, I've realized my thoughts on her haven't changed. My thoughts on Adele?: She has one of the greatest voices modern music has ever heard, and yet she's kinda boring. I know as a black man from Detroit I'm not her demographic, but I appreciate music enough to give my honest opinion on her. These songs are sung well, the melody of each instrument are well put together, but man it's just kinda boring. Maybe it's this album but man who the fuck hurt her.
⭐️⭐️⭐️ 1001 ALBUMS- # 85 Adele at 25, where has her youthful personality gone? Oh how hype can drive commercial and critical acclaim…off the MASSIVE success of her much better previous release, this record sold over 3 million copies in its first week alone 😱. As many others have pointed out, Adele certainly has the vocal chops, however lacks the musicianship that her her personal charm in performance more than made up for in her first two releases. While ‘25’ is beautifully crafted and contains a more mature thematic presence, it grows long in the tooth focusing too heavily on emotional weight, which ironically perhaps was foreshadowing the physical transformation the singer songwriter would display upon her follow up album. 🎧 Classic Track: Hello 🎧 Deep Cut Gem: River Lea 🚫 Skip Track: Water Under The Bridge Adele’s voice is the star of the album — raw, powerful, and unwavering. Whether it’s the haunting lines or the restrained emotion, she delivers every lyric with conviction. Few artists can carry an album on voice alone the way Adele does. Adele has a rare ability to make universal feelings feel intimate. 25 doesn’t devastate you the way 21 did, but it lingers with bittersweet warmth. It’s reflective rather than reactive — a quieter, more adult kind of heartbreak. 🖼️ Album Artwork: Clooooooooooose up! 25 is structured like a personal retrospective — Adele revisits her past not with resentment (as in 21), but with empathy, nostalgia, and self-awareness. It’s a coming-of-age album in the most emotional sense, capturing the moment you realize that growing older isn’t about moving on — it’s about making peace. She does play is rather safe with this release without any notable artistic leap forward, however the power of her vocals to grasp your attention is undeniable. Adele, it is ok to incorporate playfulness in your songwriting, being reflective of your passing youth at the ripe old age of 25 is rather misguided.
2.75 It was fine to listen to, but it all kinda sounded the same to me
Really a big step down vs 19 & 21 Best Song: When We Were Young Rating: 5.5/10 Stars: 3
Adele's voice is absolutely wonderful, but the music per se is nothing special
Yes, very quality tunes by a quality singer. Great stuff, although I don’t emotionally connect to this kind of music so well. Three stars from me.
It's no 19 or 21 (whichever the good one is - I think 21, really sad? Maybe I'm just remembering the banger tracks), but it's pretty good but far from ground breaking. Hello is an incredible track. Her voice carries the album, of course.
today this web app has informed me i've listened to 50 albums, and today this web app has deemed it so to give me adele's "25." scientists say that 50 is divisible by 25, and they're pretty sure the number you get is a 2. but i don't think this album is a 2 - it's more like a high 3, erring on a 4. i liked this more than 21, which - i've heard things about 21. mainly that: it's divisible by 3, which was the rating i gave it. ergo: 30, if it were on this list, would've gotten 5 stars from me, but it's not, so it won't, and that's just the way the cookie crumbles. highlights - hello, send my love (to your new lover), i miss you, river lea, million years ago, sweetest devotion
Let's be real, this is a single masquerading as an album. Hello is a killer song and adele has the perfect voice for it. The rest of the album is pure filler with strong disney vibe. The album feels as a whole like a 2 for me, it sounds great and she obviously has an amazing voice, but the music is very very middling and forgettable. Hello is such a massive song, though, that it adds a whole star on its own.
feels like a recency bias, 21 is the album that should be represented for her
She's clearly got a great voice, but the songs themselves are too elevator pop for my taste.
Beautiful ballads, legendary vocal talent. Unfortunately also smitten with dull, sanitized pop
No doubt she is a talented singer, and this is very well produced and she sounds great. Apart from being impressed with her chops there is not much that blew me away. It was ok, but I am not going to either want to buy this or listen to it again. I have no recollection of the other album I listened to, and this will be the same in a few days. It was quite monotonous. all the songs had the same structure. Also...what is a 25 year old singing about life flashing by. FFS! 3 stars
Someone has to send Adele an up-tempo song or two that she can sing. Adele can sing, that's never in doubt, but we gotta work harder to get her some torch songs worthy of her talent. I listen to these songs and pretend there is another artist singing the lyrics to the music. It shows just how much Adele is able to elevate the material. When she is able to find music that matches her talent level (Hello, Send My Love, etc.) then she can produce an album like 21. A great artist can take good/decent material and make it work, which is what Adele does here. When great songwriting and a great artist collide, you get greatness, but when a mediocre artist gets great material or a great artist gets mediocre material then if you look closely it shows. It's easy to get lazy and write good songs for an excellent artist, knowing the material will get elevated. 25 is a good album but is more of an Adele good album than an actually really good album. Do better for her. The tracks I enjoyed were: Hello Send My Love (To Your New Lover) When We Were Young Love in the Dark Sweetest Devotion
love her but damn is it a lil slow
She really does just have heavy hitter songs on every album
The opening "Hello..." on this album is amazing. Adele's voice is great and I loved performing Rolling in the Deep with Jazzy Jo and the Bonheur Bros. All that said, there wasn't a single song on this album that I felt like listening to again.
Solid melodies, with good themes to the songs. A bit primary but still relatable
Des trucs très cool mais aussi des trucs moins cool
Certainly still a great voice, but disappointing compared to 19 and 21.
Вроде и неплохо поёт, старается… но не хватает какой-то изюминки из-за чего ощущения от песен больше склоняются к заунывности, нежели к душевности и грусти, как, вероятно, задумывалось. 5 из 10.
While still being a 3, this is by far her best album, way more upbeat, better pop songs, songs like Water Under the Bridge are bouncy pop, better than constant ballads Unfortunately it does lose momentum when we go back to the ballads
Adele has such a great voice and ability. Overall a good listen, not fully to my taste but I can appreciate the talent.
The music seems formulaic, but she has a truly beautiful voice
Was more familiar with this album than anticipated, don't know that helped with general enjoyment though.
Solid outing from one of the iconic voices of her generation but not at the level of her earlier efforts.
Good vox. Songs sound aggressively samey. Highlights - All I Ask, Hello Lowlights - most of the rest of the album 2.5/5
It's OK. She can certainly sing, but I can't ever imagine that I'd sit down and listen to this again.
Adele hab ich früh tot gehört, aber soll nicht ihr zur Last gelegt werden. 3 Sterne weil ich 21 besser finde aber wohl keine 5 geben will :)
I get why she is popular and why her top 10 songs on Spotify all have over a billion streams. Her voice is good for broadcasting the heartache she sings about on literally every song. There is more to life than love and loss. I never thought I could assimilate Adele to Iron Maiden but here goes... The power in here voice is limited to one note that while hits hard, is an assault on the ear after the third or fourth song. I didn't hate this album, but I would not seek a second listen.
Overall: 6/10 Although her songs don't wow me, it's obvious that Adele is incredibly talented as a vocalist and performer. There were moments on here that really showcased how powerful her voice is. Her lyrics are honestly a bit mediocre and I think that's what stops me from loving her music. Still, this is a pretty good album overall and I could see it growing on me if I cared to relisten to it, which I honestly don't. Fav Song: I Miss You
Fin musikk, men når du får midtlivskrise som 25-åring har du et langt liv foran deg.....
it's adele
Who doesn't like Adele? 5/10
Good, not my thing
Involuntarily heard some of these songs a thousand times. It's good. Didn't even bore me, how it often happens with these AAA pop albums
Like Streisand, my tolerance for her voice ebbs after 2-3 songs.
Nostalgic
Despite these songs being so overplayed, this is a pretty good album. I just don’t see myself listening to it casually…I don’t like pop from this era where everything had to be “epic.” Still, Adele’s talent as a vocalist is undeniable.
Multiple amazing tracks in the album. But I just didn't engage with most of it.
Not as impactful as her earlier albums but it’s Adele, so still pretty good.
i lowkey forgot about this album (aside from Hello, which was maybe a bit too overplayed for its own good ). but 25 has some really good stuff! not quite peak Adele but it definitely has its moments. All I Ask is an instant classic imo
The album can get a little repetitive and this usually isnt my favorite style of pop music but Adele voice is so crazy that I can’t not like it.
Well produced, just isn't as interesting as some of the earlier albums
Very surprised how much I enjoyed this album.
Was a great listen and now I understand the hype, 10 years later. Amazing voice as always, and a delivery that captures all the emotions needed for this monster of an album.
Every song is incredible as an individual song, but they all have the same cadence with little to no variation. As a whole, it just didn’t work for me.
Talent is undeniable but as an album it sounds very samey throughout
ok
I was not prepared at all to enjoy this album as much as I did! Adele is an incredible singer, and unlike many solo acts that get by mostly on their singing chops, I didn’t find myself tiring of that voice. Each song obviously puts Adele’s talent front and center - but there’s also a lot to be said for the way three songs come together with all the additional accompaniments. Melancholy is the clear driving force behind many of these tracks, but overall, there’s enough variety here that kept me engaged. A high 3 for me. ✨
Adele Laurie Blue Adkins delivers 𝟤𝟧 at the height of her fame. I’ve been familiar with her extraordinary voice since 𝟣𝟫, when many rushed to label her “the next Amy” — a comparison she never welcomed. Beyond her voice, she’s always shown herself to be a strong songwriter. With 𝟤𝟧, Adele cemented her status as a global pop icon. Yet the record leans too heavily on safety: it’s polished to perfection, smoothed out for radio, and at times loses the raw emotion that made her earlier work so striking. Still, I can’t help but give it some extra credit — because it’s Adele.
hei kaikki katsokaa hello video youtubessa niin pääsemme 1 miljardi näyttökertaa ja ohi gangnam style!! vittu vihana paska gangan style katsokaa hello from the other saaaaaaide.. ja älä katso kuvaa ylösalaisin outo illuusio. hypnoottinen kummistus kajahdus iik. juuh toki tämä henkilö satarosenttista poppia ollut koko uransa ilmeisesti niin edellinen albumi tältä oli yksinkertaisesti parempi. tämä yrittää olla intropsektiivisempi ja taiteellisempi mutta pop-lemut tuhoavat sen yrityksiä... silti onhan tuota laulajaa aina mukavaa kuunnella vaikka biisit ovat erittäin geneerisiä laulu/lauluntekijä kappaleita. varmasti kova sana livenä. i miss you
Excellent production, great vocals, amd safe uninspired song writing.
This is my first time hearing Hello in its original form. Wild. Very good singing but bland otherwise.
Beautiful voice, but I love the more upbeat stuff more. This is a lot of ballads.
Nothing I'd ever seek out but better than I thought it would be. 3.25 or 3.5 stars.
Started with a couple of bangers but the rest started to all sound the same
Tim and I listened to this together and his scoffing at the song lyrics annoyed me so much that I made a 'Adele or Dylan' song lyrics quiz. Needless to say he did terribly. I think she's definitely a victim of her own success. She has a beautiful voice but its hard to enjoy the songs without their overplayed nature being part of the experience. Still she's clearly more talented that so many people.
Almost embarrassingly bland and homogeneous lyrics for such an acclaimed act. But what an amazing voice. Great production too — everything sounds so big.
Adele is one of the strongest voices to come out of British Pop in a LONG time, but this album....not the best babes. It's quite routine in what and she's done a lot more with a lot less.
A talented singer but a lot of songs just wash over you and are nothing memorable 3.5*
Maybe I was just too disconnected when this came out, but it obviously doesn't measure up to 21.
Standouts Hello I Miss You
Highlight Song/s: Send My Love (To Your New Lover), When We Were Young and Water Under The Bridge I thought this would be special, but it really wasn't. Good singles, but the album tracks aren't noteworthy. This review will probably be similar to my next Adele album; whenever that comes around.
good pop album, boring at times
Música de mãe, mas mesmo assim é bom
Along with 21, her best album. The sound is coherent throughout the album (maybe even at the cost of being repetitive and boring), there are some unremarkable songs like I Miss You and Remedy, there are iconic songs in the album. Definitely one of the albums that shaped Adele's identity as an artist. However, I much prefer 21 to this one. Favorite tracks (other than Hello): - Send My Love - Water Under The Bridge - Million Years Ago It is easy to overlook this album as "Classic Adele" now but it was the phenomenon when it came out, solid 3,5/5 album. What surprises me is how she has the soul of a 41 yo woman at the ripe age of 25.
i’m 25 right now and my album would be about going to the dispensary and spending too much money on cat toys
3/5
not super memorable
She is good but not my jam
Beautiful voice, catchy songs, but something missing - I think mainly playfulness - that makes it quite a bland listen. Mixing is technically good, but probably so good that it's bad. Like pre-digested food. I wanted to like this album more than I actually did. Fav: Love In The Dark - quite dramatic, true to what Adele is and what people like about her. It feels full without being busy.
Love Adele but was only caught by a few songs on this album
I remember all the hype when this album came out. Was it really over 10 years ago? Fundamentally it’s a massive whinge about being 25 and past it. Bleedin' millennials! get over yourselves. Well you’re nearly 40 now so suck it up! Some songs are really great, When We Were Young, Send My Love (later to be ripped off by Self Esteem), but there’s a lot of mediocre. I find it a bit suspect that each one has a different co-writer? Adkins/Uncle Tom Cobley Adkins/Pew/Pew/Barney McGrew. Either she’s difficult to work with (surely not!), or else these are songs that she’s added a line to and claimed a writing credit. Should I be such a cynic? I also think her voice is overrated. Yes it's striking and in tune, but personally I find it a bit shrill. Overall ok. Some great songs, mostly dull filler. 2½
Her voice is lovely but I find all the hype around her off putting and not warranted.
3/5 Not my style, but full of belters
Listenable but not really my thing.
• it’s fine • obviously a wonderful voice, but the songs are overwrought and pretty much all sound like they were meant to be interlude tracks for some Netflix series
Cover 5 Not her best but still a good album.
Great voice, obviously, and I liked a couple songs in the middle. Less successful than 21 for me: a lot of the songwriting/lyrics feel a bit too heart-on-the-sleeve, all text and no subtext, but hey, it wasn't written for me, it's her thing, and good for her.
Was fine, just very bland
More-than-servicable easy listening pop, expertly presented by Adele.
I gave it a 3 because on the whole it's very good but I don't know if I'd be playing this back.
Me ha sorprendido ver que conocía la mayoría de las canciones.
I've always loved Adele's voice but her music never really did it for me. "Hello" was vastly overplayed and over-memed and I just can't take it seriously anymore. Water under the bridge is probably my favorite on this album, but overall I can take or leave this
Repeat listen
Not a bad album, but not one of her best if I'm honest. I went with it, because it was already in my collection so why not listen. It's not really going to stand out.
“Hello” is such a good song. “Send My Love” is garbage. Her talents make up for parts of the album that aren’t great or drag on.
Familiar with this album. Some great songs, but not her best album. Best Songs Hello Send My Love (To Your New Lover) When We Were Young Love In The Dark All I Ask
Really nice listen. Adele has a remarkable voice and it’s just a pleasure the ears. Some catchy melodies too. Not the genre I’m typically drawn too, but in all honesty I just like this record.
Holy nostalgia! Personally, I think not as good as her previous two but there’s some undeniable hits on here
Great voice, decent sound, but kinda repetitive
Great voice, not crazy about the material.
Lovely instrumental break on Remedy and Love In The Dark. The best song was definitely Water Under The Bridge. That should have been the smash hit. When We Were Young would take my 2nd place. I felt 21 was a stronger album.
Solid vocalist, but not my favorite genre.
I sort of knew it would just be very similar to the last one and that's pretty much true, you can tell that half the songs were just trying to be catchy pop songs of the era, with the trap beats and cheesy group backing vocals and chants. I think I just like the more down-to earth more stripped back songs, where the verses feel quite personal. I like Hello more than I thought I did, it feels quite down to Earth. The photograph you in this light part always strikes a weird emotional chord in me for some reason, ever since I heard it first many years ago. Probably this is actually on par if not a bit worse tham the 21 album. Favourite songs: Hello, when we were young, million years ago. Overall around 6/10
The album was good, but I did not resonate with it as much as "21". "Hello" was probably the most played song in 2015, and I liked "Water under the bridge" and "Love in the Dark". However, I don't find myself going back to this album much.
Obviously her albums are meant to showcase her vocals more than anything else, so in that regard it's a good album. It is pretty bland though outside of the singles.
Great voice, couple bangers, many bland songs. Some parts are 2 some are 4. Overall, I'm going with a 3.
Quite like Adele.
Its an ok album with a couple of good songs.
Intense cover photo. Overall not as strong as the album she released immediately before, with Rumor Has It and Rollin In The Deep and generally a cool throwback vibe a la Amy Winehouse with shades of Dusty Springfield and Lesley Gore. This album is less stylized and more generic sounding. And how many breakups does it take to write an album's worth of her tunes? And I can't pretend to hear Hello objectively, after my youngest became obsessed with it. But I respect her musicianship and I bet we can all agree that as a singer Adele has some serious pipes!
Hello is a good song, but the rest wasn't quite up to it-- a little too much of her making a big deal, vocally, with lyrics that weren't all that interesting.
Still a very good album. Not one I’ve revisited much since it came out but really good to get back into it. I’d probably only ever actively listen to the singles off this though.
This was disappointing. Adele's debut was so stunning that maybe it set the bar too high. Because this one just doesn't have the same power
Ist halt adele
I have avoided this album because that Hello song was played *EVERYWHERE* and I hated it, but actually, you dive further into the album and it's just more of the same. Which is good, if you're in the mood for something sung beautifully but without much challenge. I enjoyed this.
Better than expected
Me gusta más 21.
Seventy-eight albums in and this is the first repeat artist. I knew this would happen, but I thought it would be the Beatles, Bowie, or Pink Floyd. Another reviewer noted this album is off the list which I will take for granted as I want what comes up to be surprises. First off, 25yo don't get to credibly sing about when they were young. Second, the production is overly bombastic too often and starts to all sound the same. Third, Adele has a great voice but she oversings so much. A light touch and dash of artistry goes so far with her. "Hello" and "Send My Love (To Your New Lover)" are the best songs where her talent is better harnessed and the production matches her vocal strength without over doing it. On lesser songs, it's all too much.
My wife tells me Beyoncé got robbed of a Grammy because of this one and after 30 seconds of hearing Lemonade I agreed. The uber seriousness of this album made it all feel one note and flat. Obviously unbelievable singer, but basically everything else sucked. Two songs were good. The piano sound throughout sounded like shit. 2 stars and an extra for the pipes.
Once again, you couldn't avoid Adele around this time. The single "Hello" led the way and was everywhere in 2015-2016, along with most of the rest of this album. Now a new mother and a little older, Adele gets reflective here and pines for the days of old and feeling nostalgic (like many do, but at 25?) whilst accepting her place in adulthood. This album is described as a "make-up record" when comparing to her previous work, which isn't totally inaccurate, but there are still quite a few love ballads found within as well. Adele certainly has the vocal talent for these slower songs and I will always be in awe of said talent, but I was hoping for a tad more variety here. Still, it's well-produced as per usual, but I can see/hear why many would think that this album is "too safe" though.
She has an amazing voice--obviously--and some of the songs swing for the fences, but I found the album pretty meh. All same tempo, by and large the same kind of big voiced a.m. radio ballads, all of them about lost love long ago, and nary a whisper of wit, humour, complexity--a lot of general platitudinous stuff. Blah. Great vocalist but I wonder if she's a great singer. That said, I mean, if you are coming to Adele, you are coming for amazing vocals about lost love long ago, so....
I wish I liked this more, but there were some highlights and overall it was enjoyable.
Not my thing
Emotional
Although Adele is far from my favorite artist, this album was acceptable and fairly easy listening. Nothing offensive, but nothing memorable either.
HELLO FROM THE OTHER SIDE (of a bunch of half-century-old albums)! Although this extremely recent album is, er, 10 years old now. Hm. I do like all songs called 'Hello', and Adele's is no exception. 'Send My Love (To Your New Lover)' is also good. 'When We Were Young' is decent. 'Water Under the Bridge' is decent. She picked the right singles. But they're all a little bit the same vibe. Maybe Adele's not for me. She's fine. A good singer, obviously. I wish that one song were called "Riverly" instead of River Lea (which is giving Family Stone!!!). I don't hate any of these songs, but I don't think I would listen to this again. So much for modernity.
Adele has an amazing voice, I absolutely love the album “21”. I don’t like this album though, it feels bland and emotionless.
2.5
drei bis vier million years ago
Surprisingly pleasant listen
I like and know Adele plus I know quite a few of these songs already and like it. She’s an amazing singer and has a lot of meaning in most of her songs. Not something I’d listen to again apart from a few songs so 3 stars
Adele has a great voice, wouldn't clas myself as a fan but hello, water under the bridge and send my love all make my playlist, Solid album
Esta bien pero adele me la trae floja
I find it really hard to have an opinion about Adele's music. She has an astonishing voice and based on the odd video I've seen of her, she seems like a brilliant person who I'd very much like to be friends with. I just don't find her songs very interesting. I liked the piano that's on a few of the tracks. The songs were all perfectly lovely just not my thing. 3/5
Some good stuff, but overall it is just a generic pop record.
Undeniably impressive voice but such a sad album
If this is on here I’m just going to assume 21 is also here because that one is better. Honestly Adele should be included, but I’m not sure two albums is necessary. This is a good album. Targetcore at its finest. Her voice is really great. The second half is not quite as good as the first. Favorite songs were Hello, Send My Love, When We Were Young, and River Lea.
Review closer to 3.5 stars
Great vocals. Decent album. It all just seems to start sounding the same.
Objectively good but not my fav
Ta maomeno
1001 ALBUMS YOU MUST HEAR BEFORE YOU DIE #6 I have never like modern pop, so imagine my delight when I got Adele's "25" from the 1001 Albums generator. But to be completely honest, it really wasn't that bad. While it has mostly the mid-2010's production style, and some of the tracks can get annoying / boring, the highlights we're pretty good. And Adele has some beautiful vocals on this thing, especially on tracks like "River Lea" and "Sweetest Devotion", which also have some of the best production on the record. "25" is just an ok album for the most part, there are tracks I dislike, and some I love. but for the most part, it's fine. Overall, I don't have that much else to say, it's a good pop album. I personally wouldn't return to "25", but maybe modern pop isn't that bad. Overall Rating: 70 / 100 Favorite Tracks: Send My Love, I Miss You, Water Under the Bridge, River Lea, All I Ask, Sweetest Devotion.
"25" tem como atrativo a voz da Adele, mas depois de um tempo se torna cansativo pelo formato do disco, muitas baladas, alternando entre voz e piano ou voz e violão, mas o álbum tem bons momentos também, quando sai dessa coisa melancólica e vai para algo mais pop/dançante/soul.
Nice
I liked it. Hello is amazing. Nothing else blew me away. Love Adele
2 juni Hello - klassiker Send My Love (To Your New Lover) - en till klassiker typ? I Miss You- första jag inte hört innan, inte en favorit men inte dålig When We Were Young - BÄNGER, kanske bästa på albumet Remedy - ok Water Under the Bridge - JA! River Lea - lite najs Love In The Dark - klassiker igen Million Years Ago - den här var ganska bra All I Ask - låtarna är liksom bra men hade inte lyssnat på dom riktigt Sweetest Devotion - ok Stabilt album Ger det 3/5
Ja natürlich gut, aber hatte nach 3 Songs keine Lust mehr tbh
resident adele expert jamison’s least favorite album of hers but he says to listen to the bonus track “can’t let go” i like 25, maybe it was just overplayed at the time but it feels a little made for radio
Not the best catalog choice for Adele but not a bad record
I'm gonna give up on this challenge if I keep getting 2000s pop music. Nothing wrong with Adele or anything. Just on a run of pop albums lately and looking for something more challenging. 3/5 #78
I know this album was huge and all - best-selling album of 2015, and it only came out toward the end of the year - but do we really need to listen to it before we die? No, we don't, especially considering we are already going to listen to 21, which is a much better Adele album and sounds pretty much identical. The highs here are not as high as on that album, but there are no bad songs here either, unlike on her following album 30. That one has some real stinkers. 25 is not bad, just reduntant in this context. Key tracks: Hello Send My Love (To Your New Lover) When We Were Young All I Ask
Had some amazing tracks, very enjoyable to listen to, lacks depth though.
