Reviews (page 12 of 15)

Some great songs on here, but it's really a mix of stuff that almost seems to not come together (pun intended). Pretty clear this is a band with each individual doing their own thing at this point. I have to agree with John's thoughts on the closing medley no matter how much I like (most of) it. It really just feels like a bunch of unfinished songs forced together. This album is still a good listen but not their best by far.

Some classics on here, but you can also tell they'd lost the magic. It feels more like everyone just doing their own thing rather than working together.

Great stuffed brought down by some utter crap.

Liked the first few songs, but found Octopus's Garden and some other songs very strange. Good background music for work.

The side-two medley is the last gasp of their greatness, but a lot of side one is a tired sigh. Even in my most Beatle-adoring youth, "I Want You" gave me the ick, and "Oh! Darling" too saccharine. I've always wished they'd worked more, perhaps, collaborated with purpose, on "Come Together" which is a great song with dumb lyrics. "Here Comes the Sun" is perfect and "Octopus" and "Maxwell" are dopey and fun.

The song "Come Together" is like pop cultural canon at this point, with its iconic and inscrutable lyrics ("He got monkey finger / he shoot Coca-Cola"), and then there's the killer medley on side 2 (this is the first album in this project that I listened to as an LP, not streaming). There's even a murder ballad ("Maxwell's Silver Hammer"). I think I'd give it 5 stars except that I feel like "Something" is out of place on this album and sounds more of a piece with the material they'd release later on Let It Be, an album they actually recorded before Abbey Road.

This was the first "good album" I was introduced to growing up, the idea that the whole of a rock album could be good and worth listening to. It's hard to figure this one out.

Fine I guess. How do you review this?!

Changed music forever

This is an all time album. I've probably heard Come Together over a thousand times but had not heard the album in it's entirety until today. I can't give it a 5 but it's a 4.5 for me any day.

This was by far my favorite Beatles album so far (I’ve had 4). Obviously, I am very familiar with many tracks on here; “here comes the sun”, “come together”, “I want you (she’s so heavy)”. Those tracks are classics and shine on the album. But there are a few tracks that don’t do much for me “octopus’s garden” and “maxwell’s silver hammer” for example. Ultimately I feel like it’s a big sound that is well produced and epic in its appeal. Major moments like that of “golden slumbers” and the full throated “she came in through the bathroom window” were my favorites. After this, I may, just maybe, be able to say I like the Beatles.

8/10 Come together is enough to get this album a 4. 3-21-2025

Pretty good pop rock from the Beatles. I liked this but I didn't love it. Feel like I'm missing something from the Beatles fanboys. Some classic songs, yes, and maybe it was groundbreaking at the time, but it's just pretty good now.

Great stuff, loved the weird story in the middle about Mr Mustard and Pam. Favourite tracks: Come Together & The End Definitely worth a relisten. 4/5

I liked how this album has a large variety of sounds while still managing to stay cohesive. I was surprised at the switch up at "Sun King" through "The End" where the songs flow into each other instead of having a clear start and end like the first part of the album. The low point of the Abbey Road was "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" because it just drags on for too long without much progression. Favorite Songs: "Octopus's Garden", "Here Comes The Sun", and "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window"

Definitely one of the better Beatles albums - more cohesive than the White Album, more interesting than their earlier stuff, but not without its flaws. I do think the first side is by far better than the second, the run of songs that blend into each other and are basically two minute snippets don't really do anything for me, but a lot of the rest of it makes up for that. Plus they didn't put The End at the end, so they can't get five stars for that alone.

Another banger not prob closer to 3.5 starts for me tho

4+ Stars (12/15)

enjoyed the variety of sounds and tempos. and Ringo's "Octopus Garden" holds a soft spot in my heart (thanks Dad). some great tracks on here-the last several just flow together so well.

I was a bit intimidated to tackle on this album... and then, it gave me a big warm hug and a lot of killer songs showcasing how adventurous and diverse the band was for its time and everything was lovely once again.

Octopus' Garden is killer. Come together evokes a feeling not seen very often in me.

Great album! Not much of a Beatles-fan but I liked this one. I'll definitely listen more to this.

Better than I expected.

Literally The album of all time so much that I kind of forgot this was a real album I would be listening to. I enjoy the sound and atmosphere they make even in slower ones I might not always vibe to. They always go all in thoughtfully on the character they need for each song. But there are a couple of duds... can I say that?? Lmao. And Come Together goes on to long until it's not exciting anymore, which is a shame. Thought about how I would feel hearing this without it being the Beatles but that's kind of an impossible question

D - deserves all the pludits it gets

The most overrated album in existence. People were sad because their favorite band broke up and they haven’t stopped feeling those feelings for 50 years. Still, I don’t dislike it. Last year I rated it 7/10, this time I’ll give it a soft 4/5. The medley is fun and I love Oh Darling. The rest of the first half, meh. I could live without hearing Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, She’s so Heavy, Come Together, Something, or Here Comes the Sun ever again.

Love the album cover. Some songs could be left out, but otherwise solid

Sonically brilliant. Lyricslly and themstically very, very silly, pulled up to 4 by the Harrison compositions.

Habe Golden Slumbers kennengelernt

The Beatles will always be groundbreaking and iconic. Not much more to say.

Fantastic album

Great album

More like Sweet Road

Few good songs, but not my cup of tea.

Very good, even though the Beatles are not my bag.

Classic, but a bit played out. I suppose, all classics are.

einer der Meilensteine

a classic!!!! love this album but there’s a few songs on there that are not 5⭐️ in my opinion

I am notoriously not a Beatles fan, but I'm not gonna sit here and say this is bad. I do enjoy some of these.

A poignant listen, knowing this is the last material the Beatles recorded. Overall it is up there with their best songs, with the first side particularly strong - Come Together, Something, Maxwell's Silver Hammer. The medley of songs on side two require more listening to, but they do reveal some hidden gems, such as Golden Slumber and the End and maybe offers some clues as to where Paul McCartney, in particular, was heading musically. Special mention too to George Harrison, whose guitar playing was beautiful throughout

One of my favorite Beatles albums, and an important one as well. A great way to start the day. Thank you!

That the first album by The Beatles recommended by the random 1001 Albums to Listen to Before You Die, is one that I never listened to as much as Rubber Soul, Revolver, or Sergeant Pepper. "Come Together" has the most distinctive opening percussion, bass and piano progression and it all seems intended to test production possibilities and stereo technology. The instruments hit you from different proximities that drift across speakers and headphones. The lyrics are Dadaist stream of consciousness jive. "Something" the bass is powerful, the guitars have a strategic strummed and rhythmic minimalism and the organ and string section, this song sounds pieced together but it still accessible pop music. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" Ringo's drums dominate the mix, piano and synth... a goofy pub (granny) song about a medical student murderer. "Oh! Darling" is incredible and passionately gritty, an uncharacteristic intense vocal performance from Paul (evidently John though he should have sung it). "Octopus's Garden" Ringo Starr writing more proto-twee pop with some country western elements, but I kind of love it, a sonic sister to "Yellow Submarine" (a song I never minded). "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" John Lennon singing to Yoko Ono, the repetitive lyrics allow for instrumental complexity, time shifts and experimentation. That intentionally abrupt studio ending, because the tape was going to run out is so jarring. Side Two begins with "Here Comes The Sun" handclaps and vocal harmonies, an acoustic song with layered production and no John Lennon, followed by John Lennon's backwards baroque triple tracked vocal harmonies of "Because" with a Moog synthesizer adding some futuristic noise. "You Never Give Me Your Money" is the first part of the multi song suite is complex, shifting and devoid of choruses "Sun King" only connected by a sample of crickets is beautiful blues with swirling guitars and triple tracked ethereal vocals, Mean Mr. Mustard rocks with tambourines! "Polythene Pam" is an almost low fidelity blues jam dominated by percussion and vocals until it ends with a guitar solo (in this one song I can see the inspiration for Scottish indie pop band The Vaselines), She Came in Through The Bathroom Window is a more cohesive full band pop song "Sunday's on the phone to Monday, Tuesday's on the phone to me." "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight" is probably the Beatles song most covered by global jazz singers, it begins as a ballad of intense longing and then transitions to a melodic march that is all chorus before reprising the melody of "You Never Give Me Your Money." The End is Ringo's only drum solo. "Her Majesty" is a goofy folk acoustic McCartney song fragment, it was intended to be part of the song suite/medley between Mean Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam but McCartney had it cut because he didn't like the way it sounded incorporated into the medley, so it became a "hidden track." What more could be said about the Beatles? Abbey Road is iconic, probably more for the cover art than its actual music. The influence of interconnected medley/suites in psychedelic pop can be seen in albums from the Elephant 6 collective (Olivia Tremor Control and Neutral Milk Hotel).

Great album, a classic. Hard to know if I liked it so much already because of years of familiarity or if it is that great an album. “Oh Darling” is perhaps my favourite Beatle song.

Favourites: Something, Octopus's Garden, I Want You (She's So Heavy), You Never Give Me Your Money (11/1001, 8th Aug. '25, 2230h.)

For me, this is less an album, and more a collection of songs. That's not a bad thing; it just doesn't feel like a cohesive "one thing" is all. That said, it's one of my favorite albums. "Something" is a tender, beautiful description of love that chokes me up every time I hear it "Oh! Darling" has the neatest "variations on a theme" drum fills "Here comes the sun" also chokes me up every time I hear it. Any time I hear it when I'm by myself, I song along as loud as I can. I love this song. The medley, even though Lennon (the worst Beatle) hated it was a great inclusion on the album. Obviously, there are great bits to songs every artist has that they just can't make a whole thing out of. This, to me, was a great way to record some of those really cool pieces and share some really great bits of music with the world. Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight is wonderful, and who knew McCartney had pipes like that? Admittedly, I favor Joe Cocker's version of She Came Into the Bathroom Window, but this is still wonderful. And a fucking Ringo drum solo?!? There are a couple of songs I'm not crazy about on this album, but they have merit and I'm glad they're on it. 4.5

It was pretty good. Several hits, but definitely overstays its welcome

Catchy and memorable Continuity is not really there except like twice and it's not like incredible, except for incredibly heterosexual

This is one of the most popular albums of relatively modern time and it has some jams that hold up even to this day, especially the artwork. I would say that there are some songs that are a bit meh but overall everything sounds great, especially when you leave it as a background listen. I did enjoy the few very popular songs.

I especially like the 1st half

Don’t make me use the O word. It just isn’t among my favorite Beatles records. What I said about the White Album goes double here: the good tracks are excellent, and the rest feel unfinished and less than strong. Despite the hagiography, there’s nothing particularly special about side B. It’s a lot of incomplete tracks stuck together, some of which are fun, some of which totally could’ve been cut. Clearly, given the amount of documentary footage from this era, one can’t help recognizing that this album was made by people that really didn’t want to be working with each other. I can’t help thinking that they should’ve broken up two years previous, the best tracks would all have ended up on solo albums, and nobody would have ever known that the great Abbey Road should have existed, or been any the wiser.

Best song: She’s so heavy

A great album by the Beatles. I liked Come Together, Something, Here Comes the Sun and Because the most.

I meant to give this album 2 stars at most, since I've always thought that the Beatles were overrated. I still think they are, but I must admit this was way better than I expected. 3.77/5

The most successful band in history, the most influential group of all time, the greatest artist ever - all are things often said about the Beatles - and there is plenty of truth to it. However, this makes it extremely difficult to listen to their music in a way that is not clouded by these opinions. Attempting to listen to their music in absence of any of its contextual significance would be like trying to review Hamlet whilst ignoring the fact that it was written by Shakespeare. It is an album that has become so revered over the decades that it seems to have transcended criticism, and anything less than adoration of it will surely be met with scorn and disbelief ("You don't like the Beatles...?"). So what does one do when listening to Abbey Road for the first time? Do you try to drown out the endless stream of praise that fills every music forum and review? Or do you try to drown it out and listen objectively? The crowning glory of this album is not 'Come Together' or 'Here Comes the Sun,' but is its second half of nearly continuous music that starts with 'You Never Give Me Your Money' and runs through until the penultimate track. Given the complexities involved with analogue recording at the time, this must have been a genuine technological achievement, and musically it is just as impressive - some of their best harmonies are found here, and motifs from previous tracks in the 'medley' spring up sporadically and offer a homogeneity reminiscent of a concept album. Despite this, some tracks do not live up to the reputation that this album has garnered, (e.g. Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Octopus's Garden) and are at times almost laughably formless and cheesy. For the greatest album of all time, I was disappointed. Of course, some would argue it was deliberate and genius - but it has left me wondering whether people would say that if it was released by another band. Their influence, prolificity, and impact can not be understated, but it is all too often that context alters our view on what is actually there. At the end of the day, the music should answer for itself: if, when standing on its own two feet, it falls short of expectations or does not speak to us in a meaningful way, then it is worthy of criticism all the same... Beatles or not. Tracks to look out for include 'Old Darling,' 'Come Together,' 'Golden Slumbers.'

Not my favourite Beatles Album, but I loved the journey it took me on and how it almost felt like two differrent albums - the first and second half... which would make sense in the context of a double sided tape/ vinyl. I am a Beatles apologist and am often of the opinion everything they do is great, mainly because it is and it's the first of its kind. So many classic songs on this album, and I'm very glad I actually listen to it back to front for the first time. The vocals from all members, the way it can go from an experimental psychedelic song to a pop hit with nearly two billion streams on spotify is incredible. Range, creativity, innovation and love for the game of music is so clearly present - not to mention the iconic album cover... I want to give it a five, but I feel it's a high 4. Love x

Not my favourite album by The Beatles, but what an album! For me, the stand-out tracks are "Come Together", "Something", and "Here Comes the Sun", but let's not forget that this album includes "Octopus's Garden".

This is my first Beatles album ever and I do absolutely understand why is considered one of the bests records ever. So many interesting ideas, catchy choruses and production

Lots of variation in this album, mostly tonally. Saw someone saying it's hard to imagine how the Beatles split up so soon after this, but to me it's not so surprising. This feels like each member had grown up and beyond the band and wanted to do their own thing, but were shackled to the others. Each member's contributions all feel different but there's something to enjoy about all of them, and there's also enjoyment in the hilarious juxtaposition of e.g. Octopus's Garden with She's So Heavy.

um yeah i guess its a classic or something but like who fr cares p.s. fuck john lennon

It’s da beatles

4.5, love the medley and the first few songs but a little slow in the middle

Excellent! Really great job guys, you absolutely deserve to be famous.

Can't really say anything about the Beatles that other's haven't said a lot better. All solid songs, not a bad one between them.

It’s the Beatles most famous album.

This album is good. It's even good by Beatles standards. But side B doesn't quite touch perfect. Side A is amazing, hits galore and cool studio shit. The songscape of late-side B is just a little too floated for me. Carry That Weight is dope though. 4.4

Abbey Road by The Beatles is a fantastic album, made even more impressive by the fact it was recorded while the band were starting to fall apart. This feels like one last moment of brilliance, where everything comes together perfectly. George Harrison delivers some of his finest work with Something and Here Comes the Sun, two of my all-time favourite songs. At the same time, Paul McCartney is at his best, with tracks like Golden Slumbers and She Came In Through the Bathroom Window adding to the album’s strength. What really sets this album apart is how cohesive it feels, especially across the medley on side two. There are also some brilliant deeper cuts like Oh! Darling that often get overlooked but add real depth to the record. Favourite tracks: It’s hard to choose, but Come Together, Here Comes the Sun, and Something are three of the best songs ever recorded Least favourite tracks: Because doesn’t quite land for me Album artwork: An iconic cover, and arguably their best

Compared to my basic idea of Beatles this is a fine piece. Much better and much bigger arrangements that I expected also including totally surprising stuff like Oh! Darling. Much more edge and balls majority of Beatles stuff like classic tunes like Here Comes The Sun.

Clearly this phase of The Beatles is the one I need to explore because this is interesting and creative without being overindulgent and wacky or boring and straight ahead like the early stuff. A hit with me.

I love this album! Everybody does right? I just have heard it so much! And it’s kind of the same problem I had with Purple Rain. I’m just unsure of how to rate it. It’s like I take it for granted and should probably put it at a 5, but also it doesn’t really come to my mind when I think of my favorite albums.

As someone who did not grow up listening to the Beatles this is my first time listening to an album of theirs end to end. I am genuinely impressed with the variety of style and genre this album seems to cross. The psychedelic rock on tracks like She’s So Heavy is great and it’s easy to see how other bands evolved from this sound. That said I didn’t love everything, still feel Come Together is one of the most wildly overrated tracks of all time. Overall a great listen.

It’s 55 years later, and Abby Road is still top notch. Whole album is fantastic, but the B Side is one reason why we must still listen to albums. From Here Comes The Sun through The End is just a wild joy ride. And it’s a better listen as a compilation than individual, stand alone songs. Nice little bonus kicker with Her Majesty (first secret song?) Weak link is Silverhammer. nanny always loved Octopus’s Garden. The whole album brought back fond memories of a bus ride through the German countryside! There’s still something in the way she moves… L = (3.0*s) J = (4.8*s)

Abbey Road is deserving of the list for its song content and iconic cover. Ranks on the lower end for my top Beatles albums but still a good one. Some of the corny songs like Maxwell and Octopus I could do without. I do however like the little run through at the end with the shorties. Cut "Her Majesty" and make the last song " The End." More better ones to come from the fab five...3.5.

Abbey Road is a tough album to review. On the one hand its discussed as one of the greatest works from a band that was the biggest thing on the planet at the time. It features one of the most iconic albums covers ever and is sprinkled with a couple of all time hits that have become anthems bigger than the album itself. On the other hand I don't think it is The Beatles best work. It is a hodgepodge of a variety of styles and a handful of the songs are pretty forgettable, especially when lined up against the remainder of The Beatles catalog. Context is key here and while I still think it is a good album, it doesn't wow me the way many of their other albums do. It's still a very strong album and its hard to knock it simply because some of The Beatles other work surpasses it though. 3.62 stars

Not personally my favourite Beatles album but still great. Has no real misses and is obviously one of the most important albums of all time for all the way it revolutionised production. Very good overall

I've said it before and I will say it again. I think that the Beatles are over rated. With that out of the way, this is a good album. Does it deserve the massive amount of praise that it receives? Not entirely. There's mostly good songs here, with some great songs and some mediocre.

4 - amazing record, tons of classics, super recognizable. It’s safe to say the beetles improved throughout their career. Not my favorite, and hard to know if it would be so good without their name attached

This album has some of my favorite Beatles songs out there (Something, Oh Darling, Because, I Want You (She's So Heavy and Here Comes The Sun), but man oh man do the filler tracks hold it back and bring the flow to a screeching halt. (Looking at you Ringo!) Octopus's Garden, Maxwell's Silver Hammer Mean Mr. Mustard and Polythene Pam are so bad that their inclusion on the album prevents this from being what should be an easy 5/5. I wanted to give it a 5 so bad but am currently listening to Octopus's Garden and it's irritating me so much. 4.5 stars

Come together - classic song that has been covered by so many artists and I was half expecting it to be MJ singing it in the beginning as I heard it from him first. Something - love ringos drumming on this song Maxwells silver hammer - first time hearing this song. Very upbeat and quirky. Oh darling - nice voice and the drumming is really nice Octopus’s garden - fun song. First time listening to it. Like the country twang to it towards the end I want you (she’s so heavy) - very punk, metal and rock at the same time. Even a bit jazzy. Here comes the sun - very poppy You never gave me your money - the beginning sounded like I want you.

Yep, Beatles.

Album cover is a classic and gets it to 3 stars. Great stuff on this one but a few that were meh. Maxwell is fun. Here Comes the Sun is an all time great.

Maxwell was funny even though I had no idea what it was was supposed to be Abt, definitely on the top of the list 9/10 Really like octopuses garden super vibey personal fav of the album 10/10 I enjoyed I want you, it had a really good baseline that was fun to listen to and good lyrics, one of the better ones of the album 9/10 Here comes the sun is a classic 9/10 Didn't super love because. It felt very repetitive but it never had any sort of climax or high point one of the most boring on the album 6.5/10 Never give me your money wasnt anything special and really weird ending 7/10 Sun king was cool and was fun to listen to the weird language 8/10 Carry that weight was fun to sing along to it was a teeny bit repetitive but the parts that repeated were good 8.5/10 All the other were not very notable and somewhere between 6-7.5/10

Favorites: • I Want You (She's So Heavy) • Here Comes The Sun • You Never Give Me Your Money • Golden Slumbers !!!!!!! • The end Least favorite: • Because

I’ve never gotten into the Beatles, but this is one of the most famous albums of all time, so it has to have a good review. 4.

Enjoyable as always.

bang bang

A great album that celebrates a band pretty much at their peak. Love the medley ending and the general vibe of the album. Perhaps it is missing big hits and could do with ditching the Octopus song!

The Beatles are unusual for me in that I pretty much rate their albums in reverse order to release date (apart from maybe Revolver ahead of this). I think that’s reflective of the way that, in a relatively short period, they evolved their sound from the now super-dated early stuff, up to this album on which Lennon vocals, and in particular Harrison’s guitar is (1) unrecognisable from the early stuff (2) pretty fucking epic, and (3) probably quite ground breaking. You can certainly hear a lot here that was influencing other bands for decades after. What I do always steer those with is the rag n bone man songs that turn up on all Beatles albums, such as here Maxwells Silver Hammer. For that and a couple of others I’m deducting a star, but without those this would have to be a solid 5 from me.

Great. Varied. Quirky. Funny.

Way more rock than I was expecting, awesome stuff

To me this is not one of their best. There are some cracking songs on there but it isn’t a cohesive body of work for me. I guess it reflects the fact that they were on the verge of breaking up. Still a 4 though

4/5 I’ve never been keen on Beatles music, but listening through this whole album opened me up to the range they have and makes me appreciate their music a bit more. I get the hype now.

I did love all the songs, but overall a great album

Our descendants will be enjoying, analyzing and discussing Abbey Road for centuries to come. A damn fine album.

One of the Greatest

An absolute classic!

Solid great album

Great!

Well there's no argument that the Beatles were not musical geniuses, this album has been great, lots of great hits on here and I've enoyed some of the tracks I'd not heard before, like Because. I like the sound of You Never Give Me Your Money. 4 stars

I'd like to be under the sea In an octopus's garden In the shade

Although greatly influential and packing some of their tunefulmost songs, 'Abbey Road' is still marred by inconsistency in pacing and tone, quite typically for the Beatles.

A great Beatles album full of some of their best songs. I like the first half a little better as the back half seemed to have a little less differentiation. The Beatles are the 5/5 band so they are on a different scale. For a Beatles album this is a 4/5.

I poo poo the Beatles a lot... but this is a really solid album.

# Playlist Track - Octopus's Garden # Notes - +1 for iconic album cover - Trippy and fun. Aged pretty well! - Hard to overstate how influencial this ended up being. Definitely recommend for anyone that *somehow* hasn't listened to it before.

I love this album, one of the best Beatles albums! Great variety.

Nothing I can say about this that hasn't been said before.

I know it's heretical, but I don't love the Beatles. I certainly respect their influence on music, but a good chunk of their catalog just doesn't speak to me. A decent portion of this album feels like filler. 3.5*, only rounding to 4 because it's the Beatles.

This album is great, but at times there were elements I found odd. The first half of the album is full of incredible songs, but they whiplash around tonally and stylistically every track. Then the back half of the album feels like one long, extended song broken into movements. And then The End is a neat little bow to tie the package together. You can absolutely see why albums like this are the foundation for so many other musicians for decades. I just wish I liked the whole package a little more to bump it to a full 5 stars.

Classic album, good listen

Throughout my entire life, I've always held on to the opinion that The Beatles are one of the most overrated bands of all time, and this album didn't change my mind. If anything, seeing this the highest rated album on this website only helped me double-down on that opinion. Sure, it's a good album, and it had some talented, and catchy tunes, but it certainly doesn't deserve all the adulation it receives. Favorite song: "Come Together".

interesting drum parts (riffs) rising and falling velocity

I need to give this a relisten. I didn't give it the attention it deserves.

+1 for George.

It's a very good album, and I'm glad I listened to it, as I had somehow never heard everything here together, even some tracks I'd never heard at all. It's not quite coherent enough for 5 stars from me. There's a couple of weaker tracks, and the medley isn't as great as I was hoping for.

I don’t…really care…for the medley…most of the songs aren’t that great, and they don’t flow well. I’d rather those few be expanded more into better tracks like the first half. I’m sorry

So much growth with this group. Their music has depth and really built with the time and age they lived in. I Want You was kind of a weird song and didn't totally feel like it fit.

Classic stuff

Great album. Several classic songs. Also a couple of meh (Octopus’s Garden seems so random). Plus an iconic album cover!

Solid album, actually liked I want you she’s so heavy or whatever which is a song I’ve always skipped over by them. Octopuses garden had no business ever being written let alone recorded

Obviously very good. But they have better albums.

Solid!

From optimistic tracks like Octopus Garden to the zanier like Maxwell Silver King, this album does a lot. Some of the songs are misses and can be too soft for my liking but overall I really like the album as a whole. Come Together and Carry That Weight might be my favorites.

Classic album, some shite ones in there but overall solid

I know it’s the Beatles and it’s definitely a 5 for this project but it just doesn’t do it for me. There are a few great tracks with great arrangements but overall it just never really speaks to me, the silly goofy side of the Beatles has always been so cringe for me and there’s just no edge or grit to any of it

It's the Beatles great album with McCartney well in charge and running the show. Good to read about how the album was made and the tensions that were happening. Stand out tracks: - Come together - Something - Oh darling - Octopuses garden - Here comes the sun - you never give me your money - Golden slumbers

Never been a Beatles guy but there was a lot of great stuff on here.

Like most Beatles albums, it has some songs I really like (Come Together, Here Comes The Sun) but also some songs that I can't stand, on this album for example Maxwell's Silver Hammer (on other albums songs like Yellow Submarine and Hey Jude). But overall, one can't ignore that this is a very creative and influential album... for these reasons I should certainly give it a 5 and it is absolutely a "must hear" album. But 4 it will be for me just because I don't really enjoy it as a full album.

Loses 3/4 of a point for Maxwell's silver hammer and 1/4 for octopuses garden.

Classic.

Already listened to it Yeah Medley overrated And def not the best album of all time, not even the best album of the 60s imo

Banger

Before listening to this I have preconceived notion this is The Beatles greatest album, although it’s not my favourite of theirs. It’s great, but to me seems like a lot of weird random filler type songs. Solid 4

Beatles er bare godt

One of the classic Beatles albums. Remarkable in the variety of the tracks where it's both clear that the band is somewhat fractured, but also that every member seems to peak in their own respective ways. Big fan of the rough vocals on 'Oh! Darling' good call from McCartney to take it rather than let Lennon sing it Standouts Come Together Here Comes The Sun Oh! Darling "You are breaking up the band Yoko"/5 (4/5)

音乐中的音乐!

Maxwell's Silver Hammer is a creepy, terrible song. Octopus's Garden is a cheesy, terrible song, and they never should have let Ringo write anything. Take those two songs out and the album is just about perfect. The two best songs on the album (and two of the greatest songs ever written) are "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun." George Harrison was the best Beatle, fight me. 4/5 (would be a 4.5 if I could)

A solid album that I had never actually listened to in it's entirety. Some really good ones

Obviously a classic, though I gotta shake my head at total nonsensical lyrics that try and appear deep....

Varied Beatles Album

Sweet, genre defining.

goofyyyy i want you!

along pink floys darkside of the moon, abbey road is regarded as THE album. not just one of the beatles albums, its THE album. its an inescapable album. its a gigantic album. its very good. and its also a surprise. born out of a very complicated and maybe troubled period in the beatles history, its nothing short of remarkable the fact that the beatles still sound like theyve got it all figured out. they shine and sparkle, with their characteristic glimmer of joy. dont get me wrong, one would not expect an awful album from the beatles, but abbey road is not just songs, its a complete thing. my main struggle with the beatles has been that, at the peak of their greatness, they struggle to deliver one complete thing. a single, solid statement. here it is. this is the thing. abbey road is not my favourite album, but i dont regret any of times i decided to indulge in it. it is a very confident album when it comes to its presentation. it feels almost as if their beatles are inviting you remember what they have always been, warts and all. warts being "maxwells silver hammer", my least favourite song in the album. its one of pauls many silly, whimsical songs, such as "when im sixty four", song which i find to be much more succesful at playing the part. while "when im sixty four" makes me smile, "maxwells silver hammer" makes me check my watch. "oh darling", however, is quite good. thats it. so are the rest of the tracks here. the standout stracks, such as "something" and "here comes the sun", are obviously excellent, but that is not to say the rest of the album is not on a similar level, proved by tracks such as "because" and "come together". the consistency is notable, thats for sure. as one, complete thing, however, i feel like the entire album is only an intro to "golden slumbers". by itself, the track is delightful, but its short runtime makes it feel like it came out of nowhere. in its place in the album, however, right after "she came in through the bathroom window", "golden slumbers" aquires a particular sense of intimacy as pauls sweet voice takes you to sleep before rising you to the heavens above. truly wonderful. "carry that weight" certainly carries on with that momentum and lets it crash in "the end". great album. it also feels like a fitting ending to have "her majesty" as the last track, leaving the beatles to invent an entire new concept in their last album. this album fucking sucks btw

No es mi favorito, pero es brillante.

amazing

Hey, not bad. 😏

So… Sue me for not giving this one a 5. I get it, most of us grew up knowing the hits on here, and there are a bunch of them. “Something” truly is a gorgeous song. There are a couple others I really enjoy (Oh Darling, Golden Slumbers). But there are plenty of them on the second half of the album that do nothing for me. “I Want You” Is particularly annoying and it’s over seven minutes long. So, close but no cigar from me. I’m sure there will be other Beatles albums on here, they will get another chance.

This album has some really amazing songs on it, and it's been a long time since I listened to it. Enjoyed listening to it again, but it's not something I go out of my way to listen to these days.

4.5 ya gotta ding a bit for Maxwell and Octopus

Ээээ... Лучшая песня - I Want You (She's So Heavy)

There's a lot of timeless hits in here, and a surprising number of songs that really aren't hits.

they were just a band yknow

I mean…Abbey Road? C’mon it’s like all famous and stuff. Don’t be difficult. It’s no Sergeant Pepper though that’s for sure and why I give it a 4

I've heard this album a lot. I Want You (She's So Heavy) is my shit.

Something, Oh! Darling, Carry That Weight en Here Comes The Sun zijn onbetwiste favorieten van me. Daarna I Want You (She's So Heavy) en afsluitend met The End. Rating: 9/10 Highlights: Oh! Darling, Come Together, Here Comes The Sun, I Want You (She's So Heavy), The End

Heard it before it's a good album

Good, polished album. some greate tracks. I feel it lost its way a little about halfway but the first half is cracking

Muy buen disco con temas icónicos. Agradable de escuchar por primera vez y con temas de estilos muy variados con tiempo para solos.

Come Together Oh! Darling Octopus’s Garden Here Comes the Sun She Came In Through the Bathroom Window Golden Slumbers The whole album has a great feeling behind it. Everything about the Beatles is top of the line so it’s no surprise this album is too. Certified classic. Certified banger

A classic.... Heard most of the songs before, but never as an Album.

До Golden slumbers хотела поставить 3, но эта песня почему-то в сердечко

Great album overall. About every 3rd or 4th song there'd be one thats "not my favorite." But even those are enjoyable.

Not the best Beatles album. Seems to lose its way a bit but considering what the band were going through. Some iconic tracks but not enough to make it a classic album in my opinion

Some bangers and also some weirdness

Great, not my personal favorite Beatles album, but what can you say about Abbey Road that hasn't already been said

Definitely the best and most cohesive beety project I've heard in full. Timeless classics abound on this tracklist. That's not to say there's not goofy duds and bizarre lyrics - there absolutely is and they are still annoying - but they're far overshadowed here. Four and a half. Fave track: Because

Good album with some standout songs if a bit uneven overall.

Classic

Jamen, det er jo Abbey Road..

I don't have anything clever to say here. It's Abbey Road, baby.

Perhaps the most highly acclaimed album in history, "Abbey Road" is the Beatles' eleventh studio album. With styles including blues, pop, and rock, every track is strong and is considered the Beatles' greatest work. At this point, it sounds as if each Beatle was out there for themselves as the tracks sound very independent of each other. While the songs are good, the tension between the members is palpable, surging out into their music and into the poor transitions between tracks. "Come Together," "Something," and "Here Comes the Sun" are probably the best tracks, while "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Octopus's Garden" felt meandering.

Definitely not on enough LSD to understand some of the lyrics they were writing... definitely still a classic but not something I'd come back to often. However "I Want You (So Heavy)" is electric

A good album

Yes it's a great album and an all time classic. The stereo mixing is weird when listening through earbuds. Some of the songs are great, most are okay, some are silly and some are boring. There are other Beatles albums I like more. Early/mid-career Beatles were innovators and way ahead of their time. But by 1969, the rest of the music world had caught and surpassed them. There are 10+ albums released that year that I would rather listen to than this one.

A lot of classics. Much better than some of the other Beatles offerings we've had so far. Could have done with some more ruthless editing towards the end to remove some filler, but good overall.

Some great stuff, the medley is also good I love cohesion.

Favorite track: here comes the sun

Buen disco que voy a decir que no sepáis ya.

Damn good! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I almost gave it a five but I reserve fives for the very very few special ones that light up my heart in a way that no others do. This came close. I would definitely give it a 4.5 if I could.

Lots of great songs, but not all of them. I feel like I should give it a 5 out of principle, but I've had better from this list

Þrátt fyrir fyrri yfirlýsingar um að ég sé Stónsari þá verð ég að segja að mér þótti þessi plata bara mjög góð. Temmilegt popp, temmilegt rólegt, temmilegt allt. Ég mun örugglega setja hana aftur í gang seinna þótt ég ætli samt ekki að segja að þetta sé það besta sem ég hef hlustað á. Bara temmilega gott

I'd listened to all the songs from this album individually, but I don't think I've heard it from start to finish before today. Now that I've done so, I don't feel like I was missing out on anything. It doesn't feel like a cohesive narrative is being told by the arrangement of songs. This album contains a few of my favourite Beatles songs - Something, Here Comes the Sun, Oh! Darling - but the second half of the album contains quite a few filler songs, and I was waiting for the album to end.

Iconic album, incredible start but unfortunately goes downhill from there. Love the Beatles but this isn't my favourite album from them.

The harder electric Beatles era is just night and day better from where they started out. Tracks develop in unexpected yet organic ways, and never overstay their welcome. There are a few head scratchers that keep this from being a 5, but really great record overall. Favorite tracks: Come Together, Because, Carry That Weight

They split up at the right time. This is definitely a band on the wane. No longer are these Lennon and McCartney songs, they're Lennon or McCartney - and a lot of the John ones, while still ahead of the game, are ahead of that bland, American MOR sound that was to come. The best songs (Octopus' Garden and Here Comes The Sun) are led by Harrison and Starr. It's a great album still, especially in the latter half where it feels like a suite of ideas all jumbled together before they could disagree on them. But it's a four star album after one of the best five star runs of all time. And Come Together is overrated and a bit boring. This should upset a few of the Beatles bores.

Not their best, there are tracks on there that are just don't fit in with the album. Still the tracks that shine are brilliant, but still only worth 4 stars, just

This was my first time back on Abbey Road since being a stoned teenager that just got a record player. My short and sweet review - a few all time greats, with mostly pretty good ones in between. Come Together and She's So Heavy are 10/10. I'd forgotten about Something and really liked it, my highlight of the album was remembering this song. Carry That Weight was also very good. Everything else was good but didn't stand out. 7/10 If it was an EP with just those four songs, 9/10 A+ album cover

Classic

It's a certified banger what can I say

Solid album.

Finally George's song writing broke through the Mcartney/Lennon wall!

Would be a 5 star if not for the poor flow and transitioning in some parts of this album, where it sometimes feels unfinished. Carried by a handful of absolutely spectacular songs and a few good ones. Best songs: Come Together and Here Comes the Sun.

beatles good

It’s not my favourite Beatles album but there’s some amazing songs on there. Maxwells silver hammer can get to france

It's been many years since I last played this album, probably back in the day when I had a vinyl copy (long since sold). The Wikipedia page calls this one of the greatest albums ever. Well, I think it's good but not some kind of masterpiece. Many reviews I see fit this into the psychodrama of the end of The Beatles. It's a good selection of songs.

sidewalks (>w<))/

5 best ever songs. definitiv top 100 album.

The Beatles can hardly do wrong. Except Maxwell's Hammer and Octopus's Garden. Those songs suck.

Great album

Not a huge Beatles fan, but still a good album, quite a lot of variety, would listen again...

Look, it's a good enough album objectively. But at this point, pop culture has been so saturated with these songs that it's impossible to not be a bit jaded about them.

Breaking News: There's some pretty great stuff on here.

Not perfect, but very close. It's a classic for a reason.

Bro it's the Beatles

Just The Beatles! It seems they had not been able to do a bad or at least an average album. favorite: Come Together worst: Oh! Darling 4,5

here comes the sun never fails to put a smile on my face 8/10

I loved the main hits like Here Comes the Sun but I wasn’t really feeling a lot of the other songs. -8/10

I had pretty high expectations which I think are justified given that this is the number one album on the site. I like the album length and the songs sounded good. There were some great tracks but a lot I was feeling ok about. I think if I listened to this another 4 or 5 times it would grow on me but for now I am giving it a 4.

I’m not one of these Beatles haters. I like a lot of their music. I guess I’m just not sure how they got so huge. Is it the high volume of very catchy songs? I guess they did make a lot of catchy songs. But I feel like their style isn’t my #1 favorite. I guess it was novel and popular at the time though, plus they have a lot of catchy songs. Okay, maybe I get why they’re so big. 8/10

8/10 - Octopus's Garden is great. I want you was also quite good even though it was quite long but the transition to Here Comes the Sun is so abrupt. The random Italian was surprising. As the album completes the songs flow together so well. Overall pretty good album, but I do not believe it deserves to be the top album of all time on this platform.

A few super iconic songs but the rest was just good 8/10

So many beautiful and nostalgic songs

An enjoyable Beatles album as it's not fun and boppy/poppy.

Second review for me, I hope to find more records that I never heard about. Classics are cool but I want to explore a bit more in the music universe. Of course great album, and so the cover. John was crazy. Paul high. Georges the only one serious. Ringo autistic. Classic Beatles shit. Still not their best album for me (below white album and sergent peppers) but it stays as one of the best rock album ever produced. Transition between golden slumbers and carry that weight is gold ! Fav song : Oh! Darling Good song but definitely the worst in the album : Mean Mr Mustard

i think the only song from here ive regularly listened to is here comes the sun. thats gonna change

I preferred revolver overall, but revolver doesn't have here comes the sun (would definitely have preferred if the rest of the album leaned more into that sound)

Octopus's garden 🥰

- First half of the album is strong. Very entranced by the back-and-forth of slow and fast tracks. - Second half of the album is near perfect. The stretch from "Golden Slumbers" to "The End" is some of the best work the Beatles ever did. This part is so good that I am tempted to bump the whole album to 5 stars. - God, I cannot stand "Maxwell's Silver Hammer." On the flip side, "Octopus's Garden" is an extremely fun jam.

Album speaks for itself 4.5

I guess I never really sat through a full listen of this album. Wasnt actually familiar with a few of these. I love listening to these full albums and wondering what that teen somewhere out there in the late 60s was thinking about this brand new music

I enjoyed this far more than I thought I would.

Really enjoyed the album and knew many of the songs.

oof, it's their second-best album. I just hate boomers with a passion tho, 4/5

I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did. There were a handful of good songs and some average ones too. Also, a load of the songs have been sampled in the Wu-Tang vs the Beatles album which I really like.

Great song sin therre, but honestly some filler too

Not my favorite Beatles album but this is still great. Come Together and the Harrison songs are my favorites. I also really love Oh Darling which doesn't feel like a typical Beatles song. I Want You has to be the watermark for metal pre -Sabbath if it's not Zeppelin; interesting experience listening to those back to back. Maxwell's Silver Hammers has such a great melody and rhythm but the lyrics feel gratuitous and not explored.

This album has some bangers, but honestly as a whole it’s just ok. Definitely not the greatest Beatles album. The End is a banging tune that I wish there more Beatles songs like.

Great album that loses a bit of steam at the end.

Great album, but liked Revolver more.

Un clásico de los 70! Pero no me ha sorprendido

Come Together made me think of Hannah's senior showcase. HA! Good tunes, though. I knew more of them than I thought.

4.5. Half star off for Maxwell's Silver Hammer.

Lots of bangers but some songs I didn't really like as much and were too long.

It’s abbey road. It’s fine. It’s a bit overrated and a lot overplayed.

the tracklisting for this album is crazy, some of the most famous and classic beatles songs sandwiched between the campiest, dorkiest songs ever composed. she's so heavy tickled me on this listen like, this was the heaviest shit in rock music at this time. and it goes hard. still a paul stan for life sgt peps gang 100 love his voice and bass playing!!

Lovely stuff. A bit repetitive but can't go wrong with the classics.

Not a Beatles fan, but this is tolerable.

A classic, had a lot of fun

Starting the album with fucking "Come Together" is probably the most, ugh, baller move they could've done here, after following it up with fucking "Something." Just a one-two punch of awesome. And then they follow it up with "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"??? Jesus Christ, that's just fucking---no one would tolerate that if it wasn't anyone but fucking Paul McCartney. Why did they put this on SIDE A?? This is Side B material, or hell, like---why?? "Octopus's Garden," however, is an awesome classic and I will not hear slander for it otherwise. "Here Comes The Sun" is the Beatles' most listened song on Spotify??? That's...huh. It makes sense, because it's genuinely one of the greatest songs ever made, but also it's surprising to me, a person whose first exposure to the song was "Bee Movie." Side B of this album is kinda hilarious, it sounds like the Beatles just walking through the most random song ideas, like switching radio stations and getting a new song every time. In fact, I bet they could've done a concept like that and it would've been FUN.

Some life altering amazing songs .. so I feel bad rating this a 4

I think I rated the other ones too high! Haha because I can’t give this one a 5 but i like it better than the other two! Lol what do I do? Lol re-do the other ones lower?

I really loved some of the songs, but others I could completely pass on. There were moments where I thought about skipping something.

Great album. Never listened to it through and through before but was pleasantly surprised by how every song was a delight. Lots of blues influence I hear. Also, i didnt know that this was their last album they recorded as a group. I thought it was one of the first, Due to the iconic album cover. Great album overall, listened to it multiple times yesterday and still listening now. I loved the bass lines and guitar stabs and the whole electronic feel of the album.

Great album. George Harrison is great, and this album top to bottom flows nicely. Overall great listening despite not being a big Beatles fan

Also a classic, everyone should know this.

Not a huge pop Beatles fan but this was a great album. Especially liked I want you (she’s so heavy)!

Abbey Road is not one of my favorites, so I can't justify giving the highest rating. But it's undeniably damn good.

This has gotta be one of the best if not the best Beatles album. It flows consistently throughout and the instrumentals on the songs were great.

Really strong beatles album with a lot of timeless classics. Amazing they put this together even tho this was the end of their road and they were all done with each other. Unreal album to end on

Fav golden slumbers

This was a good album with several fantastic songs. This was one of my favorites when I first got into the Beatles and it still holds up. You could tell the differing styles being pushed from the different bandmates as they got closer to their breakup, so it wasn't really cohesive, but it was still very good. 4/5

Not really music I can lose myself in. But I guess that is the biggest compliment I can give to it. When I was listening to this album the first time, I got excited about each next song, curious what It will sound like, who will sing it, what it will be about, .... The album features songs that are distinct enough to feel like an anthology, but at the same time, they are intricately connected by something I cannot describe and will approximate by simply calling it "The Beatles". You really get the feeling of listening to some of the greatest musicians of all time, even if the music itself isn't really your taste. Something in there transcends music and becomes something else. You can really dig into each song and find information/historical context/meaning/interpretations/... Abbey Road demands recognition.

My first ever full Beatles album and I’m happy to report I thoroughly enjoyed it. Another one of those where you’re just enjoying it and before you know it it’s over. Didn’t think I would enjoy a Beatles album this much but the people that asked me so far “What did you think of yesterdays album” I’ve been quite excited in my praise for it.

Never listened to a whole Beatles album before, though I do know a lot of the tracks on this one. There's a some really good experimental stuff too, which I presume was John. But doesn't quite make it to 5 for me, so 4 it is.

Never listened to this in one go before, but knew all the tracks. This the problem with some Beatles albums you know the songs but forget which albums they are on. Like most Beatles albums for most, the cover art transcends the actual music. Makes a change to concentrate while listening to them with fresh ears so to speak. Away from the famous standards, 'I Want You (Shes so Heavy) and 'You Never Gave Me Your Money' were the ones that grabbed me the most. The songs on this are all excellent, Paul's bass playing is a standout for me, they have had so many creative trailblazing peaks throughout their career and this is no different. It would be wrong to give this a 5, as I've never bothered to listen to this properly before, and rude to give it less than a 4 as it is so good.

Well, it's Abbey Road. I really enjoyed listening (except for Maxwell's Silver Hammer). Is this really the best album ever? Maybe not, but surely it's the album most people can agree on to like.

Classic

I like the Beatles, this album has a variety of sounds which kept it interesting. Songs are catchy and melodically interesting.

Listened Before? N(ot all the way through) What can I say about this one that hasn't been said. Clearly it's one of the best selling and most critically acclaimed albums of all time by one of the best selling and most critically acclaimed bands. Incredible stuff. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight

Lekker, zitten lekkere funky geluiden in

Same as all the other Beatles stuff, where I'd usually just stick it as an inoffensive 3, but it gets a 4 from me because of the strength of Come Together, Here Comes The Sun and Octopus's Garden.

Think this is the best Beatles album as a whole that we've had - the highs are high but not quite as high as some of the others, but it flows together better and blends in the nonsense songs better. The first half of this is amazing - the good songs are so good that I find myself tolerating Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Octopus's Garden much more than I would anywhere else. It loses a bit after Here Comes The Sun, but then picks up again with Carry That Weight and The End (although the actual last track is pointless). Loses one point for the big old lull in the middle, but still a comfortable 4/5.

Surprised at how much I liked this.

It's a Beatles

Wow, not really sure where to begin. In my youth I always wrote off The Beatles due to their perceived softer sound while I was head banging to Nu-Metal. How wrong I was; though I think I appreciate this album more now having been able to listen to the vast amount of music The Beatles have influenced. I love the progressive elements of this album, I love when the vocals get harsh and elevated, and I think the dynamics are spot on. I think this album is worthy of a 5 but since this is the first full listen of a Beatles album and I know some of their earlier stuff is a bit more aggressive, I’ll stick with a strong 4.

Packed with some of my all time favourite Beatles songs but is let down with the tail end of the album, would be ranked higher If it ended after "Because" Everyone goes on about how this is their best album and I can't take that stance with all the filler.

Full of classics, but it's a long album with a lot of filler. There's a 5 star tucked in there with the 8-10 best.

Fantastic album, and definetly amongst there best, but ont my absolute faviurite. I think some of the other albums has a clearer character as a concept. but not there absolute best. Maxwell's Silver Hammer is fun, come together and you has fantastic baselines. Something and here comes the sun are beautiful, but the second half is ont that great.

oikea klassikko! hyvin koottu ja perus beatlesin hyvä mayhem, what can you say

What’s up with the silver hammer.

4.0 - 4.5

Timeless

Pitty 4 stars. OK it's not bad.

Known Before: band, album Standouts: Come Together; I Want You (She's So Heavy); Golden Slumbers 8

Known before: band + some songs Standouts: 05. Octopus's garden 09. You never give me your money 14. Golden slumbers 7.0

Good album.

Unsure. Some moments of classic Beatles, some weird and wonderful bits. A bit of a mess really.

Liked it. I have never listened to whole album and I was surprised by How much I liked it.

Barely over 30 albums out of 1000 and I already got two by The Beatles… My relationship with this band is complicated to explain and not everyone will understand. So I’ll just say that this record is fine.

Like a lot of the Beatles I like it, but don't love it.

Mellow vibes Lazy morning Only listened to first song but really liked that

A couple of songs that I never got into, but my goodness, The Beatles in their prime is something to behold.

great hits

i can c why its so iconic, the lyrics are silky smooth and creative

this is a cautious 4. i am an avid beatles hater but even i appreciate Sgt Pepper’s and now this.

I think I had pre conceived notions about the Beatles. I've heard enough of their music to feel like I had a pretty good idea of what this would be. That idea was that it would just be a once legendary album that had lost its uniqueness over the years as other bands had copied the Beatles success and ultimately done it better. I was pleasantly surprised though. The music on here was better than I expected and it still holds up to this day. I Want You (she's so heavy) has some serious groove to it. Not the type of song I was expecting from these guys but I really enjoyed it.
