Reviews (page 10 of 15)

An absolutely classic album that has withstood the test of time. Although I wouldn’t consider it The Beatles' best work, it is definitely among some of the greatest albums of all time. The album is extremely enjoyable. While it isn’t as cohesive as other albums due to it having certain songs that disrupt the flow, I still adore this album and consider it amazing. Fantastic work by The Beatles!

Best beatles album

Perfect, unimprovable, magnificent, interesting both musically and for its cultural resonance. Absolutely wonderful

I already know that I like this album. In fact it's my favorite of the Beatles catalog, which is a predictable choice. I always find myself returning to this eventually as it has the heaviness and catchiness of everything that makes the Beatles the best pop of it's time.

Beatles implode, Harrison rises

Decent album.

So great!!!!!

There are some awesome tracks on this album, but I was gonna dock a star for some of the twee nonsense. A couple of listens and the tracks that initially seemed weaker grew on me (unlike Sgt. Pepper) so, sure, five stars it is. Fave track - "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" in no small part because of Type O Negative's cover, although it's still a monster track on it's own...

Like what do you need to know about it? One of the most iconic rock albums of all time. Every song is great. Don’t sit here and read reviews of it, just go listen to it you lunatic!

classic. top 3 beatles albums. abbey road medley is one of my absolute favorite pieces of music of all time

This is my #1 all time favorite album.

4.6 - fantastic album with iconic songs throughout that work so well together. “Come Together”, “Octopuses Garden”, “Something” and many others make for a great listen.

Brilliant classic album. Everyone knows the cover of this album, I knew quitte some songs. But it’s an different experience when listening it as a whole. Listened to it twice and the second time it was even better. The songs individually are great but get stronger as a whole. No wonder this is such a legendary album. Favourite songs: - Come together - Here comes the sun - Golden slumbers/Carry that weight/the end

Still one of my favorites!

Gets better every time

Just the Beatles

One of my favorite albums of all time! My top Beatles album....consider the medley my top Beatles song. So many highlights! 5/5

not much to say. undisputed masterpiece. always have loved she came in through the bathroom window.

The best Beatles' album imho.

Brilliant

It's Abbey Road

Pretty much perfect. 3rd favorite Beatles album. 10/10 1. Golden Slumbers 2. Something 3. Octopus's Garden

One of the greats

Extremely influential album full of hits.

The very definition of what is an "album your must hear before you die". Still vital and relevant after all these years.

Absolutely one of the classics of music.

Not quite my favourite Beatles album but it's up there with the best.

The pinnacle

Excellent

Abbey Road is perfect - I could listen to any song off of this album on a loop and never get bored. ‘The Medley’ is so fantastically well executed. The 1-2-3 punch that is ‘Golden Slumbers’, ‘Carry that Weight’, and ‘The End’ might be one of my favourite endings to an album ever.

It has to be a 5, one of their best albums

"I love this album more than I love myself!!!"

Quite obviously a 5. 1. Come Together - First favourite Beatles track 10/10 2. Something - George masterpiece 11/10 3. Maxwell - Gets a fair bit of unfair hate 7/10 4. Oh Darling - An all time great in terms of vocal performance 8.5/10 5. Octopus's Garden - >>>> Yellow Submarine 9.5/10 6. I Want You - Big and ballsy. Could imagine another album full of tracks like this if they stayed together 10/10 7 . Here Comes The Sun - 11/10 8. Because - 8.5/10 9. You Never Give... - Best track on the album 11/10 10. Sun King - Albatross inspired goodness - 8.5/10 11. Mean Mr Mustard - Good fun 9/10 12. Polythene Pam - As above 9/10 13. She Came In... - And again 9/10 14. Golden Slumbers - Fucking class 10/10 15. Carry That Weight - Belter 10/10 16. The End - The love you take is equal to the love you make ✌️ What a way to sign off 10/10

One of my favorite Beatles albums. The suite in the middle is just epic.

It's always nice to listen to this again. Every song is a good song and I feel like I always find something new. This time around, I felt incredibly moved by "Here Comes The Sun." What a simple and profound song. It's hard to believe that John left the Beatles 6 days after they finished recording this. I would love to be in the room where it happened.

What can I say? This was an absolute joy to listen to!

5 stars without even listening. This is the way

God, I love this album. Even Maxwells Silver Hammer can’t detract from the overall masterpiece

No explanation needed. The highest rated album on this site for a reason.

It’s abbey road

Maybe the easiest five stars on the list for me. This one still surprises. What a good album.

Mastapiece

Absolutely perfect! From the major hits to the lesser known slower songs to the tracks that expertly transitioned seamlessly from track to track makes this album a masterpiece. Loved it!

One of the best ever

McCartney's bare feet are conclusive proof that he died and was replaced by an imposter. Fact. Great album doe

Good listen, come together, octopus’s garden and here comes the sun, good trip songs

some of my favourite beatles songs and some great ones i hadn’t heard. good mix of strong songs

Of course, a classic. 4 and 1/2 stars because of "Octopuses Garden" .. sweet Christmas.

Great. Timeless. Slightly overrated, but stil fantastic.

What is there to say?

Nothing needs to be said about this - takes me back to listening to my parents' copy when I was 10. I love this album

Great album

Of course

Love this album and it's really good.

Not my favorite Beatles album, but still like a 7.5

5/5 - fun listen; Beatles are not my thing but I get it

Absolute class. Bang bang Maxwell's silver hammer is an odd song about a serial killer. We used to sing this in primary school! Great songs from start to finish.

A veritable tour de force. Superb.

For reasons unknown, Maxwell's Silver Hammer regularly plays in my nightmares. 🤷 Aside from that, it's an excellent album.

Though they were falling apart they still managed to produce one of the greatest albums ever. Everything has been written about it and just to reiterate - the end medley is worth the price of admission alone. If you don't like this album you've got no soul. Best Tracks: Oh Darling; I Want You (She's So Heavy); You Never Give Me Your Money

It’s Abbey Road. What is there to say. It’s perfect

Absolutely amazing album. Hit songs everyone knows, but even the minute long songs near the end and the lesser know ones filling the rest of the album were great. Maybe a little bias towards the group, but overall fantastic!

Probably the Beatles most well known album but not necessarily their best. Still great in its own regard. It has 17 songs and still short of an hour. It’s a refined, simply curated album. The Beatles mellowed out with this one compared to yellow sub and magical. The songs flow exceptionally well throughout and makes the album an easy listen and yet there’s still depth to the songs. 8.8/10

I'd give then ten stars if I could.

10/10. The back half is weaker than the front, but still solid throughout. A lot of classicsongs I was familiar with, and it's nice to finally listen to the album.

Probably not the best album of all time but there’s something to be said about universal acclaim. It’s damn good. 10/10

Not much to really say other than this album is a certified masterpiece. The Beatle's discography is so stacked, yet this album just might be my favorite of theirs. So many absolute bangers, and the transitions between songs are pure bliss. Surely an all time great album. Favorite Tracks: Something, Oh! Darling, Here Comes the Sun, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window

Easy 5/5... Can I give it a 6? Classic start to finish.

Vraiment un clsssique des beatles. Leur dernier mais ca frappe fort. A ecouter absolument. 5

Really great album.

Didn’t like very well

A day after getting Rumours by Fleetwood Mac I get Abbey Road. Two albums I didn't need to listen to again to rank as 5 star albums. Just what I needed to wash the taste of that shitty Lenny Kravitz album out of my mouth This album captures a massive range of moods, but somehow makes them all fit. More importantly, just just keeps getting better as it goes. And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. The Beatles always had an incredible way to state the profound with the simplest words 5/5

Classic.

Very satisfying and an easy listening album. Can definitely tell the blues notes flowing this one.

Amazing output. The soundscapes here are phenomenal. Nothing bad on this album. The 2nd side medley might be the finest 17 minutes of music ever made. Highlight tracks: 1, 2, 4, 7, 9-17 medley

Really enjoy the songwriting. One of the greatest opening songs to kick of an album.

Great album, good reminder of how awesome the Beatles are

I will always love this album. I cannot answer the question of whether the Beatles are a must-hear. (10/10) FT: Something, Oh Darling, Come Together

Everything from "once there was a way..." to "the love you take is equal to the love you make" is perfect (that's side 2 in old money). It's my favourite piece of The Beatles music and I'm apparently not alone - that was George Martin's favourite, too. Wonderful. Glorious. Desert island music for me.

What do you want me to say, classics front to bacl

Welp, first album I receive from this very interesting website, and I get as my first album to listen to is one I have listend to numerous times and agree whole heartedly that this is one of the Greatest Albums of All Time, just Abbey Road, the last Beatles album recorded. My short thoughts about the songs on the album: Come Together: If this is supposed to be a drug song, it really feels like a trip that hits you, getting ready to take you on a journey to a world where nothing and everything makes sense at the same time, with that fuckin killer guitar by George i think? Something: This song really grew on me, because I didn't really get myself into the talent that is George Harrison, and this song just struck me as basic lovey dovey song when i first discovered it in Freshman year of high school. Listening to it several times later and thinking of the women that used to make me feel, this song captured the emotions perfectly, and it's also just a vibe Maxwell's Silver Hammer: REALLY? They hated this song?? I can understand the fucking pain in Paul's Percise Direction on the song taking a toll on everybody, this still shows that the art you imagine in your head doesn't have to be perfectly how you imagined it to still be fucking awesome! It may be the inner edge-lord in me that considers this on the top 5 best off this album, but it's like Tarantino's who analogy with Joker (2019), it seduces you into enjoying the villain's presence. Oh! Darling: I always remember the title of this song but never the actual song, but it's instrumentals are really something. It's a more manic Something now that i think about it... so John made this! His vocals are on point and the classic harmonization by the end... wait is this Paul or John... Im stupid. Octopus's Garden: Top 5 off the album, more like on MY TOP 5 FAVORITE BEATLES SONG OF ALL TIME. This song deserves more love, RINGO deserves more love, and I'm glad they are getting more each year. this is just a song that makes me so fucking happy. I Want You (She So Heavy): Another top 5 entry on both lists omg, 2 in a row! This song gives me the weird feeling of thinking of a girl and other things when you're supposed to pay attention to Sunday Mass. This is probably Paul's absolute best fucking Bass work in his career Here Comes The Sun: c'mon, no words are needed. It's like waking up at the top floor of your apartment as the sun is rising above your home and shining the world. All your worries are blinded by the pure bliss radiating from this moment in your life, happening right now... also from the gamma rays Because: I should've listened to this song more, this is an incredible song. Y'know those ascended memes, this makes me feel like that, so outer worldly filled with bibilical like power. You never gave me your money: what a different tone from the last song but it kinda matches with the notes, but this feels like snapping back to reality from the last song and making something happen. Sun King: Sun King yes, which sounds like full moon, midnight by the campfire. THIS GUITAR THO. Mean Mr. Mustard: now it's the next day and now we're people watching. Kinda feels like this album is about living in the moment in life :) (also this song sounds as groovy as Paul's future work) Polythene Pam: Good transition, You think Mr Mustard is somethin, well you should see... this woman She Came in through the Bathroom window: You fell in love with a Girl but the drugs start kicking in again ~my hands are getting tired so i'm just going to write down the image these song's give me Golden Slumbers: this is like Part 2 to Sun King, now another night, reflecting what we learned and need to learn. Basically a reflection of the past. Carry the Weight: Know that reflecting on the Past will only darken your life even more and letting go and feeling free is the world's greatest luxury The End: One of the best endings to anything, it's like the final song at the end of a series you spent a long time with Her Majesty: End Credits scene, Love confession overall, good album, I wish i could type more aboutt his album but my hands hurt, I ALREADY KNOW ABOUT THIS, BEST ALBUM Her Majesty:

Well, having never owned a Beatles album, surprised myself by giving this 5/5 - but it's got Come Together (could be 1 year old never mind 50), Golden Slumbers and loads of great tracks i'm not familiar with like Maxwell's Golden Hammer. Plus I live near Abbey Road so

Is there a more iconic album? I prefer Hard Days Night & Rubber Soul, but this is solidly in the top 10 ever? Maybe top 5? Every damn song on it is recognizable.

5/5. A classic start to finish. I can't still remember the first time I heard the entire album. I checked it (cassette) out from the library and listened to it on my walkman over and over again. Loved it. It is special.

pretty dope.

Classic

Loved it since age 9.

classic

What superlative can I add that hasn’t already been said?

The Beatles conceived another masterpiece on their final album together.

This has always been up there with SGT Peppers and Rubber Soul. Silly Psychadelic Symphonies that Simply Send me to the Stars..... Yeah. ... I said that.

No notes necessary for this classic

Brilliant

Disclaimer: While I like the Beatles, I also think they are the most overrated band in history. Not to say they weren't among the greatest ever... but the boomer obsession with this band can be a bit much. Having said that, this is my favorite Beatles record. Side A is good but side B is just incredible from "You Never Give Me Your Money" to the end. They definitely went out with a bang on this one (the last record they recorded together)

Another classic for a reason album.

The last classic album by the Beatles. On this one the contribution of George Harrison is larger (Because, Here Comes The Sun, Something). Every song is sublime.

Easy 5* - favourite album of all time, and the first record I knew I had to own on vinyl. Harrison's contributions obviously excel here, but all four Beatles are on fine form instrumentally and vocally (did their harmonies and backing vocals ever sound so gorgeous?) The Side 2 "medley" (contrary to Lennon's dismissive comments) is one of my favourite sequences of music by any artist. Fave Track: You Never Give Me Your Money Least Fave Track: At a stretch... Maxwell (but I still love it, sorry Paul)

5/5 everything has already been said about this album

Great album... classic

I simply can't say anything about this record that hasn't be said before, it's one of the most iconic albums of all time. It's the magnus opus of The Beatle's career, and the concourse of sounds that come from this album are so spectacular. It starts with one of the most iconic, rocking songs in their catalogue and ends with a grandiose medley that is so rich is lyricism and composition that it's almost cinematic. George Harrison and George Martin are the rock stars of this album. If you can't get into this album, The Beatles are not meant for you. Favorite Song: Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End Least Favorite: Her Majesty (I know it's a hidden track, but it should have just ended cleanly)

So I think the front half of the album starts off so strong with Come Together and Something, but then with Maxwell and Octopus it's a take back to older Beatles. The B side of this album is where things really shine. Here Comes the Sun gets us going, and I love the flow of one track into another at the end of the album

Perfect

One of the all time great albums. The medley in the second half towards the end of the album is divine.

BeeeUhls!!!!!! \m/\m/ Best Evar and one of the greatest and most listenable albums there is.

FAB ofc, esp side 2. Boring paul tracks on first half are the only down side, as well as the befuddling order (should be Come Together, Oh Darling or smth then Something as Track 3 surely, will re-order properly one day)

Classic

Production: 17/20 Songwriting: 15/20 Innovation: 16/20 Presence of pure bangers: 20/20 Emotional response: 16/20 =84 Can’t argue with that can you. Even if it did have a spastic hammer on it

A classic! One of the best albums ever created.

Easy 5. Favourite Beatles album. Bass in I Want You 👌

one of their best albums

One of the best albums if have ever heard :)

It’s Abbey Road, innit?

Top tier, S+ class album all around. Good one lads. Cheerio and the rest yes. One of The Beatles best, absolute hits from top to bottom. Each song is memorable and warrants a return listen. Idk how many times I've jammed to this record. Confession: my favorite song throughout all of middle school was "Octopus's Garden." A Ringo song!

Amazing. Brilliant musicianship.

As good as you’d hope and expect it to be, and not just the more well known songs.

Classic.

True classic - What else needs to be said?

Just great

a classic! still rocking

No words

Never new the second half of the album was considered a "medley."

amazing! Classic! The segues at the second half of the album are glorious.

Amazing album.

Concept album for sure!

As good as it has ever been <3

One of the greatest albums of all time. Just perfect.

What’s not to love?

+ Here Comes the Sun + Come Together + Something + Oh! Darling

Might be the Beatles' best album. Highlights: Come Together Something I Want You Here Comes The Sun You Never Give Me Your Money

This just might be a 5 star album...

what an absolute jewel. come together, something, oh darling, here comes the sun, golden slumbers/carry that weight, the end. the early part of the medley doesn't do it for me (sun king and mr mustard) and i think "i want you" drags on for a bit too long. i was tempted to score it 4.5 because of these, but the good parts are too good. 5 stars. incredible.

The best of the best

ATG album.

Good album yeh?

A glorious epitaph.

One of the greatest albums by the greatest band of all time

Don't know how I called myself a Beatles fan without having given this one a thorough listen. For some reason I thought of this one as disjoint from the rest of their discography, but there's still the narrative whimsy of classic Beatles interspersed throughout. The tension inherent in the creation of this LP is clear as the track lengths thin towards the end, but even these snippets carry a wealth of life and delight.

Simply one of the best, if not the best, album of all time. Not much to say that hasn’t been said.

perfect ending!!!! fav track: she came in through the bathroom window

Classic must-listen for a reason.

we love

classic

a classic with surprisingly more great songs than I expected

One of the best albums from the Beatles, can't give it anything other than a 5 stars

A classic!

Heard this a few hundo times. Still awesome focused on middle songs, Because - Polythene Pam. Under appreciated by me in the past.

- Best Beatles Album? - Abbey Road to assembling a bed - Favorite track(s): Here Comes The Sun, Come Together, and Octupus's Garden

Well done the beatles

Hadn't heard in years. Hard to believe this is now the "best album of all time" but still an absolute psychedelic classic. Dug "Oh! Darling" quite a bit.

Kannte ich davor schon wunderbar! + Oh Darling + Here comes the sun

I mean what has to be said. total bop. 90%

The best

Er....it’s Abbey Road...

Beautiful

One of my fave albums.

This is so close the being a 5-star album. I don't really like The Beatles, and that is the only thing keeping me from 5-star. So, what the hell....

The best

A virtually flawless album that I've adored for years. That medley at the end tho >>>

1969. Key Songs: Come Together, Something, Here Comes The Sun

Great album, front to back. Sure the last song is stupid, but I feel like it is a bit of a wink towards the listeners. No bad songs, and that is even including Octopus's Garden

3/31 A sonic trip.

Listened to on vinyl. I think this album is worth the hype. The songs are catchy while still being deep and meaningful. I want to listen to it a few more times just to fully understand it. Overall an excellent album lyrically and sonically.

Abbey road é foda

it's about time! very strong first song, perfect start. smth - i like this a lot T_T oh darling - <3 id like to be under the sea in an octopus's garden in the shade/with you - don't we all???? this song is very relatable and catchy and fun and everything u want a song to be sun king - italian???

The best Beatles album!

I like this one a lot. This was the first album I heard from them, I still have it burned it into a CD.

STupid ass list has given me everything except White album now, meanwhile I still live in fear for the day I get a Morrissey album. BUt on to Abbey Road, a classic sure, they're the Beatles and they don't really have anything under a 4/5. I love this album, I always belt out Oh Darling, but I'm on everybody except Paul's side in regards to Maxwell's Silver Hammer; you can hear the rest of the band's tediousness and frustration with Paul really working this song up. The dude made them bring in an anvil for the bang bang sound, what the hell was he thinking? I also have my reservations on the B side melody, because even without their admittance of it, it is clearly just throwaway songs mashed up together. Even though it is a fun listen, it's a compressed White Album with less effort on it. Enough of my qualms though, because this is still the fab four. Besides Maxwell, Side A to me is one of the most perfect runs of songs ever for this band. Come Together by Lennon, Something by Harrison, Oh Darling by McCartney, and Octopus's Garden by Starkey; just these four make Side A so heavy. And then there's I Want You, one of the most unique songs in their catalog for its epic coda and next-level playing in the rhythm section. The End serves its intended purpose as well, showing off fantastic solos by each Beatle. Maybe I'll come back and drop it to a three, I basically scoop out the middle of the album. But what's left after is just so good.

4 just cause of few fillers imo

Nice. Nostalgic. Enjoyed. Made me think of my dad. Loved that.

Review - the best songs are incredible, but it has some less than perfect songs too. Octopus' Garden isn't bad but it's not that good either. Something isn't great, but I'm just not as big a fan of George's songwriting. Definitely worth a listen, but there are more consistent Beatles albums out there. Score - 8.5/10 Need to listen? YES

Classic

There are some wonderful tracks obviously and the album is really diverse, covering lots of genres. There's a few tracks that I would not be bothered about if I never heard again. But overall fair do's - I can see why this is so influential and revered.

A really strong album. Come together as an opener is just so peak. Immediately into it. So many good songs and very few just okay ones

A very good album but doesn't quite hit that '5' sweet spot for me. Enjoyed listening to it a few times this weekend though.

I mean, I am not about to tell you that this is a bad album, I'm not enough of a contrarian to say that an album where every song has it's own wikipedia page is a bad album, but I can't quite justify giving it a 5 star rating. The best songs on this album like Come Together and I Want You are excellent, however it has songs like Maxwell's Silver Hammer (a goofy novelty song that is both kinda annoying and doesn't really have anything interesting going on) and the medley (a collection of short half-formed songs that are a mixed bag). It is still a very solid album though.

I like the Beatles. I don't go gaga over them, but I like them. Come Together is one of my top three Beatles songs. Funny, to me it sounds more Rolling Stones than Beatles. The rest of the album is good too. Many consider it the best ever. It doesn't hold that status with me, but I get it. 4.25 rounded down to 4.00 (And, finally the first album I've had above a two in three weeks)

SHE HEAVY

That’s probably the most well-known bass lines opening up Abbey Road. How did such brilliant and musically talented individuals come together? Pairing with McCartney’s impactful yet colorful bass slides, Ringo had a perfect hi-hat and tom pattern. I also read that Ringo’s left-handed approach also adds to the uniqueness of the sound. “Something” is just brilliant. George Harrison’s gifts of guitar clearly shines and tugs at all our heart strings. The lyrics, and the way he sings them, highlights Harrison’s emotional depth. There’s just something about it. McCartney tries to enter this arena, with “Oh, Darling” but when compared to “Something,” it feels like it’s better suited for a sorrowful moment in a holiday rom-com. Now it’s Lennon’s turn at desire in “I Want You (She’s So Heavy).” Lyrically simple, but Lennon’s and Harrison’s guitar play are the true spotlight of the song. It has an amazing blues feel which bound back and forth between a higher tempo, capturing how they a being driven mad, to drawn out heavy chords reflecting the deep longing. But good news, “Here Comes the Sun.” Harrison’s magic for weaving meaning lyrics and the beauty of an acoustic guitar shines brightly in this number. The album in its entirety feels like a 3, but it’s the genius of George Harrison which makes it a four for me.

It has some classic songs that I could listen to over and over, but other songs were just odd.

Another album full of classics. Here comes the Sun is glorious. Felt it fell away towards the end, perhaps because the start is so strong?

I have listened to just about all the songs on this album, however, shockingly, I had never listen to it all the way through. It’s a great album. What else is there to say?

oh yeah fuck Maxwell and his silver hammer

I’ve never heard Maxwell’s Silver Hammer wtf. Heavier and more bluesy than expected. Did from Can to Can’t sample I Want You(she’s so heavy)? This is really what I feel like I grew up listening to. Previously I probably would’ve called it like 70s or 80s rock but really thinking about it this is quintessential early 70s rock. I already knew tracks 1 - Come Together and 8 - Here Comes the Sun.

As someone who has never understood the Beatles hype, I *can* see the appeal here. There are a lot of fun songs where, if I had not already been exposed to several black bands who did these elements better, probably would have blown my mind. The hits hold up and definitely feel like foundational pieces for future pop music but again, it's just not original to me. But for a moment, I'll even let go of that context. I can listen to this without any background and still be unimpressed. There's just not a lot of imagination in the texture of the music. Everything is expected. It's good just not great. Highlights: Come Together, You Never Give Me Money

Expectation: -> High. After listening: -> A classic. With one of the most memorable album covers of all time. Enjoyed this. The top two songs here are engrained for life. Hate this Maxwell character! Track ranking: Sun Together Something Darling Octopus Maxwell Money Want you Because Bathroom Mustard Weight Pam Golden Majesty End Sun

I have always thought the beatles were way over rated. I don't think they're bad, just not the greatest gift to music to be universally loved. I do think they generally suffer from being the first to do so many things that have become so commonplace that it's not novel anymore. That said, almost all of my favorite beatles songs are on this album. I can't give it a 5 because there are a bunch of songs I really do no like. Come Together, Something, I Want You, Here Comes The Sun are peak music. The rest, I don't care as much for.

Ooo, my first Beatles album. And ... what a wild album. It's all over the place, but not necessarily in a bad way. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Octopus's Garden" threw me. What is this weirdness? Then it occurred to me that I've liked weirder stuff, so ok sure. Anyway, pretty darn good for the most part. Loving that medley - most of the B side in fact. Not something I'm likely to revisit too much but I wouldn't be mad if someone put it on. I'm just noticing, where are McCartney's shoes? Have you ever walked on a paved road barefoot? That shit hurts. Drugs, I tell 'ya.

A: The Beatles!!! Jeee. 4/5

Was a little unsure about how I felt about this album in the end, but I think the A-Side is mostly pretty good, even the more whimsical and silly tracks like Octopus's Garden and Maxwells Silver Hammer. The B-Side is obviously not as strong and imo a bit random but somehow still good, it is The Beatles I suppose. Deep down I want to give it a 3, but some of these hits are undeniable, so I'll give it a 4. 4/5 Top tracks: come together, here comes the sun, I Want You (She's So Heavy), because

Dette var overraskende bra! Dette redder Beatles for meg!

Um… 😐 what I find befuddling is HOW many people LOVE Maxwells Silver Hammer. 🔨 what??? Its inclusion almost takes this, the absolute best Beatles album, down to a 4 with the rest of their uneven stuff. I agree that this album is best listened to all together. I think the medley and I want you/ she’s so heavy are brilliant. I think Paul’s bass playing is amazing. Truly. I remember when I realized that was him. But Maxwells Silver Hammer is… bang bang not a banger. Anyway- is it possible to not give this album a 5? Despite its flaws. Deep and concussive I guess it is. Because I was just reprimanded for only giving it a 5 because I am supposed to. 4 Boolean: true

I can sense Renly slow dancing as I listen to this very album

Standouts Come Together Something Maxwell's Silver Hammer Octopus's Garden Here Comes the Sun You Never Give Me Your Money The End

A Beatles album I don’t have in my collection, some decent songs on this album, but I don’t like everything on here, I’m obviously aware The Beatles are massive, but based on my listening yesterday, it’s a 4

An all timer but not about to say it's perfect from start to finish

Shockingly, I think this is the first time I’ve ever listened to this, but it obviously comes freighted with expectation and reputation. Unsurprisingly, it turns out that the millions of people who have sung its praises previously have got it right.

always thought people were joking about the beatles, but this album is so solid and you can see how they were such a big influence over the entirety of the music industry because of it. here comes the sun is possibly the best song of all time?

This is my fave Beatles album, but don't take it as a compliment. I am not particularly a fan of most of their stuff in general. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is probably in my top 20 songs ever. That ending gets me every time. But then there are other songs I often skip, so meh-to-good overall.

9/10 album I already listened to it. Classic. Favorite song is Octopus's Garden.

I am not very familiar with the Beatles outside of pop culture. In this regard, several songs here felt familiar. I enjoyed the listen but there is something about it that escapes my reach. Maybe its because I grew up on artists that came after and/or because of the Beatles that I prefer the product of their work more than their work? I am going to score this 1 tick higher to encourage a future relisten. 4/5

For being the most well known album it kind of was mid. 7/10

Mysbeatles, mindre indiskt flum så rätt najs

One of the best

Yup, so the classic album is actually really good

Some great tracks

An iconic album, was looking forward to this. Pretty good overall, some of their best songs, and some lesser stuff added in. Overall, an enjoyable listen, and well worth the hype.

Damn. Why did no one tell me it was a prog rock album.

Most of side 2 is poo, but that notwithstanding, this is the Beatles have every sounded to me.

Great album. Love how it starts. Funny that it has Octopus's Garden

5-star tracks: “Something” - “Oh! Darling” - “I Want You (She’s So Heavy)” - “Here Comes The Sun” - “Because” Over the years, I’ve come around to this album, but…. I still think it’s not the great album that so many Beatles fans think it is. There’re some great cuts, obviously, but I can’t shake the first impression: The lads are fried, burned out, and have nothing to say. With some notable exceptions -- including George's great tracks -- much of ABBEY ROAD reflects the toll of so many amazing recordings in such a short span (1963-1969). They must be sick of the fame, sick of the constant pressure to produce albums, and sick of each other. The keen observation and brilliant lyrics of Lennon and McCartney in the past are, for the most part, absent here. And all the unfinished ideas! Sure, the stitching together of them all on Side Two is one of the most brilliant forms of knitting together a bunch of unrealized and incomplete fragments of ideas ever, but….it doesn’t hide the fact that John and Paul, for whatever reason, just wouldn’t or couldn’t make them into fully realized songs as part of this group anymore.

Once you see the cover, the expectations go through the roof. I was surprised at how varied and experimental the album was. Like any exploration there were a few dead ends. Of the songs new to me I liked that Octopus one and the medley of short ones at the end was good too. A very well done album, but not a masterpiece.

The story of the recording of Maxwell's Silver Hammer was wild. They spent weeks on that single track at Paul's existence while the others hated it. If they had somehow managed to patch things up and carry on, I can only imagine the tsunami of repressed resentment we would have been served.

Here Comes the Sun may be George Harrison's best work.

This is the face of music. There isnt much I can add other than of course you need to listen to this until you die.

Best Track - "Here Comes The Sun"

Hell yeah this is a classic, honestly some big misses here but some great stuff too. Not my favorite Beatles album but gotta love it.

Some of the best songs ever written with a sprinkling of crap thorughout

A masterpiece. Actually insane this was released in 1969. Not a bad track in the list in my opinion. Each member clearly brings their own talents to the forefront in different moments, George Harrison's ballad 'Something' being my favourite and Ringo's drumming on 'The End' is mega.

The best

Was hearing up to hate on the Beatles here as do feel they’re over hyped but what a fun little album. Mellow in parts, moody in others overall very pleasant

It’s really good, don’t get me wrong, but I just don’t have the nostalgia required to give it a 5. It’s just popular

its ok

actually interesting instrumental writing and decent performances, which is very much not the case for their earlier music, but the lyrics are still frequently quite sus and they can't decide whether to cut a song short before developing it out or to stretch it out well past its welcome.

not a fan of the Beatles but i can see why this is so highly rated..except Maxwells silver hammer which is shit.

1. Here Comes the Sun 2. Something 3. Golden Slumbers 4. Oh! Darling

Exceeded previous expectation of Beatles being a boring band. Found out their ballads for example "something" were simple yet beautiful. I also noticed that whilst prog rock wasnt created at the time, they had the basis of the sound especially in "i want her so bad" and ""because". Paul McCartney's vocals on "oh darling" were phenomenal and he is someone i severely underestimated as a vocalist, being able to switch vocals from tender to raspy brilliantly. Would have rated a 5 outta 5 if it wasnt for "maxwells silver hammer" and "golden slumbers"

Alright, well, I don't like the beatles, but I must say, I was very very impressed by the album. I thought this was pretty good. Other than Maxwell's Silver Hammer, I can honestly say there isn't really another bad song in this. The medley at the end is kinda cool. Can't believe I'm about to give a beatles album a 4.

It's a a piece of music history, and shaped culture. Revisiting it after a few years my favourite songs remain, "Because" for its freaky harmonies in the beginning and "Oh! Darling" I like the bluesy yelling. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" still makes me laugh. Ringo delivers his best clink clink hammer work. There aren't enough songs that are just about telling weird stories about characters outside of the lyricists' emotions.

Honestly, what more can be said that hasn't been said a thousand times? It's site-wide rating is well-deserved.

Muy bn los beatles, me moló

I am no Beatles connoisseur, but this was album I knew and really enjoyed the majority of the songs. I didn’t know more of the latter half, but still had a dang good time.

I received the White Album previously, and I like this album a lot better. It's more cohesive to me. There's catchy, poppy songs ("Here Comes The Sun"), heavy songs ("I Want You (She's So Heavy)"), and psychedelic pieces, of course. The psychedelia wasn't too out there, however (there were a few songs on the White Album I found to be too weird). "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is certainly something, but it gave me a good chuckle. The harmonies, melodies, and overall instrumental tones are wonderful throughout, and there are some beautiful songs on here, too. I suppose this is an acclaimed album for a reason, and I'm glad I listened to it.

Casi masterpiece

Some great songs but some that r rlly short good but like short af

One of the best, but in my opinion not the best Beatles Albums, definitely needs to be heard at least once if not multiple times in your life.

So...turns out I've been a Beatles hater this whole time for no good reason. Of course I knew all of the hits, but I never really got what the big deal was, I just thought "yeah these are some nice 60's pop songs" and just left it at that. But I am really pleasently surprised at the amount of depth this has. Still not my favorite thing in the world, but I will for sure return to it.

Really interesting. Got 2 Beatles albums in a row. This one properly hangs together and some great songs

I don't know how controversial my opinion is, but I'm not the biggest Beatles fan. Their music is iconic and continues to make a lasting impact on music internationally, but Abbey Road as an entire album just isn't my favorite. This is really one of those times I wish we could rate 1/2 stars because I think this is a perfect instance of 3.5 stars. It isn't a 3 and it isn't a 4. But like... do I rate it a 4? I typically round down, but...yeah. There are so many classic songs on here. It's undeniable.

knocking off one point for maxwell's silver hammer. messy and good otherwise !11!

A great album, obviously well known. Even for the Beatles this album is really great.

The first Beatles album I ever actually listened to of my own volition, despite being inundated by THE BEATLES ARE THE BEST EVER since childhood. Come Together is the GOAT opening track.

Very nostalgic to listen to this one again. Listened to this one quite a lot about ten years ago whilst gaming with my brother (Call of duty, Ghosts). I really like this album. It's not one I would listen to super often though, therefore the 4 stars.

It’s abbey road isn’t it. If it was a different bad album you could say ‘well it’s not abbey road is it’ but this one is abbey road isn’t it.

I mean it abbey road. Some of the guitar playing is a bit hum haw but like the ending is so fire that u can’t really complain about anything

This has never been one of my go-to Beatles albums. It’s very good so I’m not sure why…I guess I always got scared off by Maxwell’s Silver Hammer early on. I think Paul is at his Paul-est here and sometimes that’s a bit shmaltzy for me, but the ending really is so good. That being said, I definitely lean towards George and John’s tracks as standouts, which feel compelling in their own right outside the greater context of the album (although they are also great in the context of the album, particularly those in the continuous second-half run). And in the end… I think it all works very well together and feels fully developed with peak-Beatles-ness qualities, even if some of their albums that are rougher around the edges have more songs I like. Fav tracks: Something; Come Together; I Want You (She’s So Heavy); Here Comes the Sun; Mean Mr Mustard

Is it the best album ever? I don’t know. Is every song on the album good? Yeah I’m pretty sure. Also an iconic album cover.

Beatles innit.

Excellent

Pretty good but I still don’t quite see why it’s such an iconic album. Just about gets four stars

As a non-Beatles fan, one part of this project with which I have a love-hate relationship is exploring their discography. I believe this is the third album of theirs that I’ve listened to since I started, and I can say that this one is the best yet. There’s nothing I can add to the discourse, so I’ll just waste a few more words on this review. This album was by far the most polished. It sounds really modern, and I was interested to see that upon its initial release it was a bit controversial among some. These people found the sound to be artificial and too studio-like, due to the band using modern techniques at the time such as synthesizers to achieve complex layering. To me, that stands out. I enjoyed it a lot. My favorite song was "Come Together".

I didn’t think I liked the Beatles very much but I was surprised at how much I liked this album. The popular songs are popular for a reason but I liked the lesser known songs too!

What hasn't been said?

There some excellent moments but there is also a bizarre tendency to veer towards nursery rhyme/knees up songs around the Joanna. As with many later Beatles albums, George Harrison is at the centre of all that is good. I think it probably should be a 5 but it is also rated higher than Revolver at the moment which is just plain wrong, so 4 it is.

It’s a great album and the medley on the back side of this shows the brilliance of the album as a format as I’m not sure some of the songs work in isolation. It’s an album with some of the Beatles’ greatest highs on (two of which are Harrison’s work here) but also some duds (‘maxwell’s silver hammer’, ‘polythene pan’, ‘octopus’ garden’). I want you (she’s so heavy) also feels quite out of place on this, and I’m not sure that the Beatles lend themselves well to the rock and roll blues that this was going for. Despite that, some excellent songwriting, interesting harmonies, some real restraint shown on some songs (‘come together’ is an excellent demonstration of less being more). The little accompaniments (most likely from George Martin) also add a little sparkle to the songs just to make the rest of the band shine more. Just not quite as good as revolver in my eyes.

Classic

What is with these bands that no one has heard of and their obscure albums??

You think a band is oversaturated that you roll your eyes when the album comes up. And then you find out: you don't know shit. Exactly why I love this.

Let me preface this by saying, I have always been indifferent towards The Beatles. In my 38 years of existence, I have listened to their entire catalog multiple times, not by intention. Abbey Road remains a strong entry into this list with great songwriting, producing, and musicianship. It is not my favorite Beatles album, and that's ok.

I knew it, really god though

would return for a few but primarily the hits

Overrated but still good. I was surprised by how short the average song length was

The highlights are so high it cant be ignored how influential and significant this album is. The Medley in on B Side is where i tend to check out but it could require more time to digest and dive in. Not sure if you can really hear the fact that this was their last album in the songs themselves but its interesting from a historical perspective. The album starts extremely strong and keeps the momentum enough to not become unenjoyable by the time you reach the end. Come Together, Something, Here Comes the Sun and Because will always be great to go back to.

Great beatles album

Some really great tracks on here but not all are 5 star.

If this was the last album, they definitely pass the audition, I think it gets a four I want you. She’s so heavy does not need to be seven minutes. Lol and while it is cool that all the songs do mess together I think we can get rid of sun king through she came through the bathroom window objectively they seem rushed, and if the band could’ve stayed happy, they probably could’ve made something better with those but it’s a damn classic album when you have come together, something here comes the sun because you never give me money and then the ending three tracks of golden slumbers carry that way in the end along with a little fun her majesty I mean it’s the Beatles dude I’m gonna have to give it a four because they were some things that just didn’t vibe with but that’s just my opinion man. Great work boys always a fun listen

I really struggle with The Beatles, I can't get past my belief they are massively over-hyped. I tried to listen to this with an open mind but I'm not sure I managed it. Some of it was good, some very familiar, but some of it was average. TBH better than I expected - but not really my taste.

Very cohesive structure, which makes for a great album, but not as many pure bangers as REVOLVER

Incredible, but not as the first time I heard it

I see why people thought Klaatu was secretly The Beatles now.

The combination can be very strange — "Something" followed by "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" followed by "Oh! Darling"? I had forgotten how much I like "Golden Slumbers." That second side medley has always been interesting; the songs mostly shouldn't really fit together, but they do. Is that just something I've become used to?

Die regel “oh what a joy, for every girl and boy” haalt me er een beetje uit. Because vind ik bijvoorbeeld zwaar underrated.

A tale of two covers. Come Together has been ruined for me by Aerosmith to the point that I never want to hear it again. And I've listened to Elliott Smith's cover of Because so many times I actually forgot it was on this album. The Medley is great, the Harrison songs more than prove his songwriting chops. I still want to steal the riff from She's So Heavy for an intro or mosh part.

Gutes Ding, kann man nicht anders sagen.

Imagine being a teenage boy living in London in 1969 whose girlfriend just broke up with him, and these fuckers release "Oh! Darling"
