Reviews (page 9 of 15)
Remember when you were in the Beatles and you did that album Abbey Road and at the very end of the song, it went: 'And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make'. You remember that?
I mean, it's the Beatles...
A masterpiece. The first half of the album bounces back and forth between the serene and the silly. Some of the greatest songs ("Come Together, "Something", "Here Comes the Sun") ever written on the same playing field of some of The Beatles more ridiculous ("Maxwell's Silver Hammer", "Octupus's Garden"). Then we are hit with the Medley which is just wonderful. Each song working into each other, but somehow can be enjoyed as a standalone track. And then a little reminder to not take things to seriously they end with "Her Majesty", which serves as a great encore. This is The Beatles at their best, pop music at its finest. 5/5 Would listen again. One of the absolute best.
One of the greatest crescendos to the close of an album ever. Absolute classic.
It’s the most complete album that I can imagine. I wouldn’t say that I would list any of the songs in my top 50, with the possible exception of He Came In The Bathroom Window (god damn that’s a good one). However, the album as a whole can be viewed as one compete work and that is what makes this special. You hear common themes throughout, guitar licks, piano melodies that reoccur in various intervals, woven into the tapestry. The magic is the dynamic rise and fall of the album into the poppy Beatles, into the rocking era, and then expanding the drug renaissance. They pay homage to their anthology, in a way that pays respect to the fans, but really helps to appreciate that they made this album for themselves. It is their passion project before the upcoming departure form one another, to escape the crazy fans but to also let them know that they appreciated it as much as us. The ones who enjoyed it get a final parting gift. The greatest album ever.
What is there to be said about this album that hasn’t already been said? A timeless classic from a band that nothing else to prove, and yet still recorded one of the greatest albums ever made while each member drifted towards completely different artistic and personal endeavors. Lightning in a bottle.
Still Fab
Can’t say much about this that hasn’t already been said 1000 times. A true classic in every sense.
My favourite fab album. Or sgt pepper. Side 2 of this is the best thing they ever did. Fight me.
I don’t even know where to start with Abbey Road. I can criticise aspects of this album, but the Beatles are still the Beatles. Things they did on record, especially from their studio-based period, which may have been accidents, have become so influential they seem like deliberate strategies, and people have built whole careers based on them. Some of the marked features of this album have become integral parts of the rock lexicon; the hidden track, the medley, the tom-heavy drumming, the use of effects like the leslie speaker, etc. that emerged out of (arbitrary) opportunity or necessity. Most noted is the side 2 medley; born of necessity to utilise partially written song fragments, it became permission for extended side-long suites with disparate fragments (hello prog rock). The fact that it worked on Abbey Road excused the confusion of willful collage with ‘clever’ song writing. McCartney is one of the worst offenders at this (qv. ‘Band on the Run’, which is a ghastly incoherent mess). On this album, it helped present material that benefited from the succinct presentation. I mean, would ‘I Want You (She’s So Heavy)’ be better if edited down to a similar length as Polythene Pam? Possibly. Maxwell’s Silver Hammer is, frankly, atrocious and feels like a track that might have made its way onto the White album, but does not belong here. And I agree with John and George that it was not worth the effort to record and include. But other than that, the songs are outstanding. (I was recently doing a deep dive on Let It Be, and the song writing here is SOOOO much better. Come Together, Something, Here Comes the Sun, and the side 2 medley are highlights of the Beatles catalogue. Here Comes the Sun is the most streamed Beatles song Spotify, and has always been a favourite of mine. Despite the clear tensions in the band around this time, they seem, to have put aside the worst of their bickering to lean into what a tight band they were. Augmented by Billy Preston and really great orchestral arrangement and production from George Martin, this last recorded output from the Beatles is confident and leaning towards the future. The crisper sound from 8-track recording and a solid-state desk, tasteful use of synthesizer (white noise in 'I Want You' aside) show that this was not just recycling their clichés, but committed to making a really great sounding record. I rate my favourite albums according to those I most frequently play, and this is definitely in my top three Beatles' albums (along with Revolver and Hard Day’s Night). Everyone should make themselves familiar with the many pleasures of Abbey Road, five stars.
What’s there to even say? It’s the Beatles. This is the third record in a row that I’ve rated 5/5 so it’s been a good week.
Album 131 of 1001 Beatles - Abbey Road Rating : 5 / 5 Favorite Track : Because & You Never Give Me Your Money Interesting little band from Liverpool. Seems to have done well for themselves a while back. Some catchy little tunes. Such an awesome album. In my opinion, it deserves all of the accolades it receives. A pleasure to listen to. A couple of random notes: - John Lennon should have sang on 'Oh Darling' - 'I Want You' was too long
Now then. I can’t explain why this is a 5 while doing it justice. The last ‘proper’ Beatles album. This album was my musical awakening. Smoked a joint at 17 and listened to the whole thing with Darwent. Didn’t speak. Never forget it. Suddenly, my adolescent music didn’t do it for me anymore. Went through a Beatles phase, completely obsessed. Even to this day, whilst being into prog bands, nothing comes close to the emotion and depth to this whole thing. This is 50 years later. Some of the sounds and effects are mind blowing for the time. Imagine it at the time. If Sgt. Pepper gave Brian Wilson depression, this surely gave him a haemorrhage. Sot: All of them. Yes, even Maxwells Silver Hammer 5/5
What's even to say. Truly something special
My second favorite Beatles album. They are really coming into their sound. Half the songs are very memorable, and the other half are in the Medley and still quite good.
awesome :)
This is one of those albums that I don't often spin from front to back but when I do, it's a reminder of the genius and craft that make this band so timeless. I love every song, including the goofy ones, and the medley at the end never fails to stop me from whatever I'm doing to just listen. And "Golden Slumbers" is a remarkable vocal performance. I can go on, but what's the point? Nothing speaks better for this album than just listening to it.
Easiest 5 stars I've given so far. I mean, hell, even the damn cover is 5 stars. The first side is merely outstanding, but that second side is transcendent. All Beatles albums are great, but this one truly feels like a gift. Everyone is at the top of their game here. The bass playing, the drumming, the harmonies, the songwriting, Billy Preston... I mean, if this isn't a 5-star album, I don't know what is.
I'm as familiar with this album as I am the aroma of coffee. But aren't we all? There's so much to say and yet it all seems trite. I listened to this album with Sylvia and asked his thoughts---first thing he said "I've been listening to this album my whole life." And I said, "yeah, me too. Please have another listen when you're 56." It's a universal 5...always has been.
Love.
Classic.
A nearly perfect album. Side 2 is magnificent.
This album is perfection.
It’s Abbey Road What more is there to say? Everyone and their grandmother knows how great this album is This is the culmination of this band’s entire career and I don’t think it could’ve been any better All four members reach their lyrical peak (especially George) Every song is integral to the experience of this album (except for Her Majesty maybe but I think that’s supposed to be considered more of a bonus track) “The Long One” is probably one of the best runs of track in music history Favourite tracks: Something, I Want You, Here Comes The Sun, You Never Give Me Your Money, Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, The End
The fact that they recorded this ~6 years after their debut is mind boggling and big credit to George Martin. Bands don't show that growth in 20-30 years. Come Together used to scare me as a kid and keep me from listening to this. And the ending - Golden Slumbers --> Carry That Weight --> The End!
A perfect album by my favorite band.
Best Beatles album, very highly ranked for best album ever. 5 / 5 stars.
A masterpiece? I've listened to this album a couple times in a row and i understand the hype but not quite see it yet. 5 stars cause I'm sure it will grow on me.
Personal Enjoyability (out of 40): 35 Consistency of Quality (out of 25): 18 Keeps Interest (out of 25): 22 Album Flow (out of 10): 9 Overall 84/100 ★★★★★ Quick Review: So I was very familiar with this album before reviewing and I was ready beforehand to give this four stars because I am not a fan of the medley. Gave it a courtesy listen and it's a bit better than I remember (who cares if sun king is a bit boring for the sake of two minutes?). Golden Slumbers into Carry that Weight seems to have been lost on me in the past. First Side of the album + Here comes the Sun might be the best sequence of songs ever written.
such an easy five stars. i grew up on this stuff and it makes me cry just how fucking perfect it is. if you think this is anything less than a masterpiece you’re a brain dead mouth breathing inbred fool who deserves to be put down for their own good.
Magic.
Avalon, Black Star, Abbey Road - a five star 'final' album made as a final album is a rarity. This is full of life, full of clever music and if John and Paul do sound poles apart the album's big enough for both of them.
album rate: 4/5 very good record
A perfect album in my opinion. One of the best ever.
obvi
I've listened to this loads already and I like it a lot. I don't have anything more to say that hasn't been said before. 5/5
Superb.
Theres nothing to say here, the album talks for itself
Best record the Beatles ever made. Best record Rock Music has ever seen. Best D-Side of any album ever. This album just might be my favorite of all time. Can't really heap enough praise onto it. And that's really all I have to say Favorite Tracks: The End, Her Majesty 5/5
I've owned a copy of this for over 20 years and love it, but I tried to listen objectively today for the sake of this review. There's not a single bad song on this album and IMHO, the medley on the back half is one of the best things ever recorded. I will say that I never noticed how jarring "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is coming hot off the heels of the masterpiece "Something." I like the song but I don't think the album would be worse off without it. Overall, a truly amazing album that I never grow tired of.
One of the greatest albums of all time: No one will ever convince me otherwise to this point. The lyrics, the bass, the funky little riffs, all of it amounts to pure perfection and I adore this album. The second half ( Abbey Road Melody) flows perfectly by design and is nirvana for the ears. Personally my favourite Beatles album and always will be.
it’s sick and I like the part where the music play’s especially when it doesn’t
Yeah it’s a pretty good album Rating: 9.5/10
This is the album that proved (to me at least) that the Beatles could have survived if Paul had left the band. His contributions seem like the weakest and "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is just not a good song. It is a song that indicative of McCartney's trite songwriting style that sometimes takes him over (even to this day). "Oh Darling" is a banger and it shows the kind of soul and power that makes me like the Stones so much. This album is definitely worth a listen and is important because it shows how/why the Beatles ended up breaking up. It was the last written/recorded album and contains so many classic songs that are heard on the radio. Don't love the Beatles, but really like this album.
oh my. One of the best albums of all time, this is a 5 stars. I don't even need to listen to it again, but I will anyway. The side 2 medley is probably one of the best pieces of music of the 20th century. Every song is really good and worthwhile. I don't think you can mention a single song, because then you'd have to mention other songs. Even the silly beatles songs (Octopus's Garden and maxwell's silver hammer) are better than a lot of bands produce in their entire careers. Simply amazing songwriting and performing.
Awesome album. One of my favorites still.
easy 5/5 for me. One of my favourite albums of all time. The second half is incredible
The first three songs tell the story. Lennon’s “Come Together” is epic at many levels, the overall feel the lyrics especially. Harrison’s “Something” is a great love song with great guitar playing. McCartney’s “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”, is a stinker, loathed by the entire band who were unable to veto it, and right up there with "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da". It makes you wonder how the Beatles would have turned if George was able to make a bigger contribution. I find the second side medley interesting. The songs merge quite seamlessly. It’s like they had too many songs and recorded 2-minute versions of them.
One of my least favorite Beatles albums. You can really feel their looming breakup. That said, it’s still amazing. The guitar tones are tasty, and the production and instrumentation are a beautiful microcosm of where rock came from and where it where it was going.
the easiest 5 i’m going to give this entire list, this is perhaps the perfect album. not much more to say about the project itself, but i really enjoyed the alternative takes on the deluxe edition — really nice to hear the boys experimenting in the studio, i really wish those sessions were fully recorded like get back was.
Najlepszy album Beatles
Tried to listen Beatles few times but always didn’t understand the hype. Nowadays I can finally understand what is going on. It’s 5, something special which you want to releasten again and again.
Best album with worst beatles song on it
This is Abbey Road by The Beatles
If that's not a masterpiece, I don't know what is.
This is easily one of the most perfect album ever recorded by the greatest rock act on Earth.
No-brainer att detta är en femma
Simply the bezt
Masterpiece! The Beatles don’t really have a dud in their short but amazing career to me. I’ve grown up with this band and love the songs to death. 9,5 out of 10
One of my favorites. So many great songs on this album, INCLUDING "Octopus' Garden". Yeah, I said it. I know people find it a little insipid, but you know what? I saw Ringo Starr last year and it still was great to hear, over 50 years later. I've heard a cover band perform this whole album live, but still nothing compares to the sound, production, and craftmanship of the original. You want a lesson on how an album should be done? This is it.
Brilliant. Not perfect, but brilliant. At first I thought side one was a bit stronger, buoyed by some of their best stylings in rock (Come Together - one-of-a-kind and thumping with wicked Lennon lyrics), blues (Oh Darling - McCartney's strained vocals are awesome), and love ballads (Something - Harrison didn't compose many, but this is one of their greatest). They more than make up for a When I'm 64 retread (Maxwell's Silver Hammer - still fun), obligatory Starr offering (Octopus's Garden - still decent), and solid but flawed prog rock attempt (I Want You - beginning and end are cool). But I really came to enjoy side two and the 8ish song medley. Some of the songs don't quite splice together cleanly and so at first listen I was wondering about fit. But as it keeps going different songs really fit together well and it all comes together. On multiple listens that sequence was my favorite part. I know that Here Comes the Sun and Because aren't part of the medley, but the former is another Harrison masterpiece and the latter is a real beautiful Lennon piece (the three-part harmonies are exquisite) that fits nicely next to the style of You Never Give Me Your Money, which is an awesomely arranged piece. The transition to Sun King could be better but bringing back three-part harmonies (and the opening line) helps it connect with the first two songs of side two (again, not part of the medley). And it connects really well into Mean Mr. Mustard, and the whole sequencing between those two, Polythene Pam, and She Came in Through the Bathroom Window is great - it feels like one song with four different twists. Again, a little abrupt as it transitions to Golden Slumbers but the sequence between that one and Carry that Weight is incredible and the two together are beautiful - I really love the former (a sweet lullaby) and the segue into the latter gives goosebumps. Carry that Weight also nicely ties back to , and the latter also nicely ties back to You Never Give Me Your Money and decently segues into The End, which is fitting for the last song (minus a bonus track) on the last album put together while the Beatles were still a band. The separate drum and guitar solos for each member is great. And hey, why not finish on a great lyrical one-liner. They really should've just cut Her Majesty but I'm just nit-picking now. Some flaws, but as a whole, brilliant.
Simply one of the best albums of all time, and my personal favorite Beatles album, hands down. Absolutely timeless. Favorite tracks: Come Together (perfect in every way - Ringo's great tom line, the bass-line, everything), Something (love the simple understated guitar solo - Frank Sinatra famously called Something the "greatest love song ever written" and said it was his favorite Lennon-McCartney song - sigh), I Want You (such great guitar lines and composition - the ending repeated motif gets more ominous as it goes, which makes for a great segue into...), Here Comes the Sun (another masterpiece by George Harrison), Golden Slumbers (loved seeing Paul play this live a few years ago), Carry that Weight (really the whole ending medley). It's a little irritating to hear all the shit Lennon said about the album and McCartney's contributions. The more I learn about John Lennon, the more I think he was a sad little man who tragically never got a chance to show maturity and growth. But enough of that - this is a perfect album start to finish. Definition of a 5-star album.
Quem sao os besouros
The human brain is weird. Is this album good because I can remember the lyrics and music? Or do I remember it because it is good? I might listen to this again sometime. Who would ever write a song about an Octopus's garden?
Pretty nice to come across a simply enjoyable and wonderful album like this. There's both darker and brighter pieces, but all are memorable and engaging. I'm not sure i fully appreciate the small snippets of songs on the back half, but there enough good pieces in there that keep it fun.
My personal favorite Beatles album. The B-side is just astounding.
This was my introduction to Beatles albums, as it was the only one my parents had on CD. She’s So Heavy used to scare me. So did Maxwell’s Silver Hammer (it wasn’t so much the murder, as the impotence of the justice system - terrifying). Anyway, I could spend ages reviewing this but it speaks for itself so I won’t. Other than to say I don’t know what the greatest album ever is, but if someone told me it was Abbey Road, I wouldn’t argue.
Incredible that the Beatles, the most popular band from the 1960s, got really good by the end of the 1960s.
And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make
Best beatles album
Odd compilation on this one but still great
Five stars, why not. As tempting as it was to deduct stars for Octopus's Garden
Simply a masterpiece. Maxwell's silver hammer included...
A 10/10. Perfect score. It feels rushed by the end but it might be because you don’t want it to be over.
Absolute masterpiece.
Beatles, niente da aggiungere
What can you say, it’s a 5, but it does have the song that broke them up (Maxwell), so I guess it would 4.5, but then round it up.
How can it not be a 5 with side B alone and "the long one" being awesome. The recent Super Deluxe release is worth seeking out for all the rehearsals and outtakes.
Me every time a new track started: oh okay, so this one is my favorite one on the album. Just incredible all around. Everything about it. Songwriting, arrangement, variation on styles. There aren't enough stars in the world for this album. Favorite track is I Want You, but other favorites include Oh Darling, Octopus's Garden, Sun King, and Carry that Weight
I'm a big Beatles fan and love this album. It's a 5/5 for me. Standout Tracks: Come Together, Something, Oh! Darling, I Want You (She's So Heavy), Here Comes the Sun, Because, You Never Give Me Your Money, Mean Mr. Mustard, Polythene Pam, She Came In Through the Bathroom Window, Golden Slumbers, Carry That Weight, The End, Her Majesty
Like kids in a toy store filled with musical instruments. And a record button.
A pretty obvious 5 from me. I really adore the medley, and the songs on the A side are very good as well. Probably not my favourite Beatles album, but still a great album. My favourite songs were Because, She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, and Sun King.
First time hearing this thing all the way through, and it definitely lived up to the hype. This album has a cool stripped down lo-fi type feeling to it that I really enjoyed. Highlights: something, I want you, here comes the sun
-I cant believe Something is immediatley followed by Maxwells Silver Hammer lol. What a mood change -The bridge to something is spectacular. My personal favorite part of the album -Octopuses garden underrated af. Shits a jam -Don't know why, but that guitar riff at the outro of I Want You sounds so much like Elephant by Tame Impala to me, I looked up if he used a sample from this song but he didn't so idk -transistion from Sun King to Mean Mr. Mustard was smooth af -upon first listen, I thought Mean Mr. Mustard - Polythene Pam - She Came in Through the Bathroom Window was all one song -Ringos drum solo in The End is peak Ringo. Such a simple, but effective solo, kind of just like Ringo. -I really like how The End is like the curtain call for the Beatles, shows off all of their skills and I think of this as their 'one last hurrah' jam. They go off in this song. Kind of a bittersweet ending for this record and for the Beatles as a band(Im not counting Her Majesty as the final song because its 25 seconds long) If I had to pick just one: This is very hard for such a legendary album. It took me a bit to think of just one that would represent the album as a whole. I think if I had to choose one it would be Come Together. The song really is a good metaphor for the Beatles at the time: coming together one last time to make an album. I like the everything about the song
Come together: every part of this song is dope. The simple ass but moving groove, the lyrics/vocals, and the keys and guitar licks that come in. I overlook this one a lot but it’s a tune. Something: maybe the best chord progression and love song in pop music. The strings are beautiful and the key change for the middle part lifts the song before mellowing back out for the end. The bass also is weird but fits the song really well. Maxwell: probably the worst track but still kinda funny Oh darling: just a good song with insane vocals. The slight backing vocals on this one are also just classic Beatles harmonies. Octopus’s garden: simple song but kinda reflects the sentiment behind the album of wanting to make one more joyful album as a full band before the drama outside of the studio eventually broke them up. Guitar licks are really catchy. I want you: the noise ending is sick and it’s another dark groove to vibe to like come together. Here comes the sun: Perfect 60s pop song. Been played so many times that people overlook it but it’s always fun to listen to and the production/harmonies/lead synth lines are great. Because: harmonies are crazy on this one and is one of those songs you’d really only hear from the Beatles You never give me your money: “out of college money spent see no future pay no rent” that’s life man Sun king: another chill jam with a great guitar tone and perfect harmonies First 3 song medley: the guitar licks on bathroom window are sick. I think making them a medley helps speed through the second half and keeps you intrigued. Second medley: golden slumbers has a great melody and I like the call back to you never give me your money in carry that weight. The instrumental breaks in that one are really interesting and the lead guitar is smooth af. The end is a great way to end it and shows how much the Beatles were open to fucking around even on one of the most anticipated albums ever by throwing in drum solos, trading guitar solos, and ending with a string arrangement. Her majesty: wasn’t even supposed to be on the album and they didn’t know it was there till after it sent to production Just a happy album all around. I feel like people get caught up in wanting albums to be perfect where every song is deep and emotional but I think the reason this one is great is how it can switch from being a genre defining song to almost nursery like songs that they made just to have fun. It’s an album that doesn’t take itself too seriously and is better off for it. 👍: all but favorites are something and oh darling
I’m not the biggest Beatles guy out there, but I do enjoy them and there’s no denying they consistently made good music. There’s a weird mix here of incredible songs and nonsensical weird ones. It’s not even that they’re bad, they're actually kind of fun, but it’s just odd. The highs here are very high and the lows aren’t even that low. Cut this track list down to 10 songs and it’s a 5 but the inconsistently keeps this at a 4 for me. Heard b4: Come 2geth, something, oh darling, octopus, I want you, her comes sun, bathroom window Best: Something, golden slumbers, carry the weight, here comes sun MMM: BOY YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT CARRY THAT WEIGHT A LONG TIME PS: I listened one more time before bed and this album is 5. This second half grew on me a ton. Yeah, there's some novelties here, but like I said they're still fun and well made. And the odd ones are all pretty short which makes them easily digestible. Also, the way they all flow into one another on the B side is pretty cool.
The second-best Beatles album. 5/5
Top drawer beatles. Some of the slower songs are a bit naff let's be honest. Come together and octopuses garden are class though.
I mean potentially the best record in the world from the best band in the world. What a swan song. The b-side to this record is incredible and it hits all the feels. Just love it so much.
In my opinion, “Revolver” is a better record by a small margin, but this record stands as one of the best ever - for very good reason. It’s a masterpiece.
Abbey Road is The Beatles at their absolute best, with classic hit after classic hit. The back half does what the White Album was trying to do, and wraps everything up in a perfect coda with The End. When you factor in critical acclaim, popularity, and lasting legacy, Abbey Road is probably the greatest classic rock album of all time, aside from maybe Dark Side of the Moon.
This bunch of offcuts created in the middle of a split still outperforms most bands on a good day. Potentially the best side two ever.
Depending on the day, this one trades places with Rubber Soul as my favorite Beatles record top to bottom. I just think everyone is really bringing their A-game here. They all get a moment to shine while still making it feel like a group effort, which is something that can’t always be said about Let It Be or The White Album. The two Harrison tracks in particular are incredible stand outs on side one, and the melody of side two is about the most fun way I can think of to bookend their career. I know Let It Be came out afterwards, but this is their final album to me, and feels like the fitting end their legacy deserved. I mostly listen to the 2019 mix these days, but this album needed it the least out of all of their releases. The original was already mixed for stereo, so there’s not a lot of changes here beyond beefing up the bass, which I appreciate. As a bass player myself, I’m always astonished by McCartney’s playing, and this album is no different. The only one here that is maybe slacking would be Lennon. While I love the drugged out I Want You, I can really take or leave Come Together these days. I recognize that’s a me problem. I think I’m just tired of the song at this point, and I feel that every song after it is better. Regardless, this is one of my most played albums ever and I still love it as much as I did the first time I heard it. A truly timeless album that keeps the rewards coming every time I press play.
Duh
Easy ten. A too 5 album for me. 1001 listens
Way better than expected
There’s a ton of undeniable greatness on this album, including many classic not only Beatles hits but just songs that are essential to music, and simply for that maybe it deserves a 5. On top of that the less popular tracks were impressive as well - loved the blues influence on many of them! Then the medley on the back half just sends the listener through a maze of sounds and colorful instrumentation full of imagination. Such a great listen! 9/10
Greatest album ever?
It's on the top of the very best albums ever made. What can I say about Abbey Road? The Beatles got together one last time to make an album and they created this masterpiece which is really one of the best written, best produced and greatest albums ever. The album was almost called 'Everest' and yes, it would have been a fitting name of it, too, since they reached the top with this album. It has Harrison's finest songs he wrote (Something, Here Comes the Sun), Lennon's incredible opener with a fantastic bassline (Come Together) or the great I Want You, McCartney showing his singing abilities on Oh!Darling, Ringo's fine Octopus' Garden, and the fantastic medley on the B-side. 10/10, 5+ without a doubt.
Amazing
What more can I say, its an absolute classic
Fun fact: when I was a child, my father would choose this album as the dinner music whenever we had a "nice fancy family dinner" in the dining room. I am thus very likely the only person in the world who associates the song "Come Together" with steak and potatoes.
It's a good thing I really like this album because I think my family would disown me if I gave it anything less than a 5 XD. Best tracks: Something, Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Oh! Darling, Octopus's Garden, and Because.
I'm definitely in the set of people that believe The Beatles changed everything and this is, at the end of their career together, the epitome of why they were so good. Three songwriters (OK 4 if you allow Ringo's contribution) desperate to outdo each other. Harrison finally getting his due regard. Something has the most sublime bass line from McCartney which, whatever Harrison thought about it, makes the song. I know "Come Together" was a rip off, but it's still my favourite Beatles song. Golden Slumbers is a beautiful piece of work. "Because" is a beautifully structured song. You know what? I like "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" - McCartney was always keen to nod to the story telling tradition of British music hall and why not? I hadn't listened for a while and the second side is still a whirlwind. The Beatles could throw away songs the best of the rest couldn't imagine writing.
I don't get this album I'd be like money :/ funny paper :D
Perfect album
Masterpiece. Technicolor genius from the top shelf of songwriters ever.
Banger after banger after banger after Octopus' Garden after banger after... you get the idea. When the WEAKEST song on this album is "Octopus' Garden", it gives you a good idea on how bloody good the album is. The 2019 remaster gives the record a new breath of life, especially side-B and its medley. Every song on this album has been played on AM radio at least one million times, and they never grow stale. Had a bad day? Feel like the world's going to shit? Just want to listen to music where the band isn't confronting the harsh realities of life? Pop in this album and thank me later. Standout Songs: "Come Together" "Something" "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" "Oh! Darling" "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" "Here Comes the Sun" "Because"
Wowza. What an album, huh? Great stuff
Excellent. Probably my favourite by the Beatles.
Oh dang. Where to even start. I grew up listening to the Beatles so off the bat I can say I love their stuff. My personal favorites are Sgt Pepper's and The White Album, but Abbey Road has some of their other most popular songs. It's a great album! Also, the album has to have some of the most iconic and well known cover art ever.
A masterpiece. And amazingly still only my 4th favourite Beatles album.
Woweeeeeeeeeeee what a journey. I HATED the first song. The octopus song made me cry like a lil wussy. I Want You, Because, Golden Slumbers and Carry That Weight carried. Thanks for the menty b Abbey Rd 🫠
Beautiful album. One of the best by the Beatles
its abbey road
I struggle going through some of the albums on here because they can be boring, generic, etc. but I didn’t feel this way at all with Abbey Road.
This is tied with if not a close second to revolver for my favorite Beatles album. Every song on this album is just so great and the infighting with the band members ended up making even better showcases of each person since paul and john appear as much as they usually did on a lot of these songs. Every song has a different influence and sounds so distinct and makes the album perfectly eclectic. I would list off my favorite songs but its most of them so I guess my top tier picks are oh darling, here comes the sun, either carry that weight or sometimes. Maxwells hammer and octopus's garden are nostalgia songs for me too.
Boys groove
It’s Abbey freaking Road, what more needs to be said?
My first of 1001 records to listen to. Nice choice. Of course, it's often considered by many to be the best album of all time... Being a major Beatles fan, I love this record. It's not my favorite Beatles album, though. Opening with, "Come Together", puts me in a place of comfort. My memories of past listens, environments, etc. are heightened. While listening, I'm in "work mode", so it's obviously great to hear while in that mode. I love to listen to this record while doing nothing, too. So very versatile. Classic!
Really good album, still like revolver more tho. Songs that stood out to me, Oh! Darling, I want you (she’s so heavy), she came in through in the bathroom window
As a kid, I thought I didn't like the Beatles. My friends had gotten into them and from what I heard through them I thought they were an old boy band. I held this belief for years and never gave them a shot. When I got my first job at 15, I used my first paycheck to buy a budget record player (something I had wanted for years) and was soon gifted "Let it Be" and "Abbey Road" from family friends. At the time I wished that I had gotten albums that I wanted myself but soon came to realise the power of gifting music. I gave both these records a try and was absolutely blown away by what I heard on "Abbey Road". The ideas of a boy band had disappeared with songs like "Come Together", "Oh Darling!", and especially "I Want You (She's So Heavy)". And the genius of the medley on the B side was an amazing listening experience. It made me rethink the Beatles but it also made me rethink music. There were many aspects of this record that I have never heard before from any other group in the last 50 years. This album has stuck as one of my favourites and so have the Beatles. Overall - 9.7 Maxwell's Silver Hammer knocks off 0.3
fantastic
This was one of the first albums i've ever fully listened to and hearing the medley for the first time has changed me forever. It's the album that made me love albums. Just perfect.
perfection
shoot me du du du du shoot me du du du du shoot me du du du du shoot me du du du du here come old flat top he come grooving up slowly he got joo joo eyeballs he one holy roller he got hair down to his knees got to be a joker he just do what he please so brilliant
One week, two Beatles albums. After listening to Abbey Road for the third time I made up my mind - this is my favourite Beatles record and also one of the more pleasant albums to listen to, that are older than 50 years. It also has a song that I most enjoyed, written by Lennon "I Want You (she's so heavy)". It's basically like watching (or listening) to a documentary about the early beginnings of progressive rock. Also, I was very positively surprised by some vocal techniques presented by everyone, but especially Paul. Ah, and important to point out, my second favourite song by The Beatles is from this album as well - "Something" written by Harrison. Really great and slightly melancholic piece. Remarkable album.
What's not to love here? (If you say "Octopus's Garden" I've got three words for you: "haters gonna hate." It's a jaunty song that's fun to sing along to, and it pairs exceptionally well with "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" on the album "Love," which you should definitely check out if you haven't already.) I'll admit that "Sun King" is probably a throwaway track, and the medley on the back end of the album might leave casual fans scratching their heads a bit, but c'mon. "Something;" "Come Together;" "Maxwell's Silver Hammer;" "Because;" and my favorite of the bunch, "Oh, Darling!" This is all top-notch shit. It's probably not my favorite Beatles album, but it's easily top 5 and unquestionably 5 stars.
One of the best albums by one of the best bands.
How can you go wrong with this Beatles classic. So many amazing songs. I never paid much attention to Maxwell's Silver Hammer, but damn what a happy sounding song with such horrific lyrics. Love it. So much in the album to love. And it still holds up perfectly.
pretty superfluous to give this a rating but yeah.
It's Abbey Road. Is it even possible to give it less than a 5?
One of the best. Ever. I hear something new (unintended Beatles call-out) on it every time I listen. After the mess of the Get Back sessions, they decided to get back (totally intended) together to finish things off properly. That they did. A fine collection of songs that also functions as a whole.
The first full "grown up" vinyl ever given to me. Christmas from my Aunt. To this day one of my favourites, doesn't hurt as a memory but a great album that never bores me. That's an easy 5 stars. And yes, I did listen to it again just for this, because again. Beatles, Abbey Road.
Classic. Wondering what they used to get the tone
Are there any bad tracks on this album? I'm not sure there are. There are some that aren't as good as the others, but I'm not sure there's anything outright *bad* about this, and there's plenty that's outright awesome.
I means its Abbey Road by The Beatles, need I say anymore? I don't but I will anyway. "Come Together" is just a perfect song that I never tire of. "Something" is also a perfect track, one so good that Harrison thought he must have heard the melody and stolen it accidently. You can thank James Taylor for the intro line and George getting the motivation for finishing the song. "Octopus's Garden" might be one of the stranger Beatles songs, especially on this album, but it is such a damn good song. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" might be some of McCartney's best bass work, and the rest of the track was, well, heavy and dark and just groovy as hell. "Here Comes The Sun" is yet another perfect song on this album, the contrast of the bright optimistic tone of this song in comparison to the prior song is the best way to open up the back half of the album. I can admit that the back half of the album is a little weak, but that doesn't take away from it being a 5 star album. The sheer number of time this album cover has been recreated should immediately qualify it, I would venture to say this is the most recreated album cover of all time. Fantastic album by an obviously fantastic band. Justifiably the highest rated album on the website.
pretty dam good. i slept on them
Seminal album, explores telhe depth of the band and some silly moments as well. Guitar is just spot on across the tracks, and Ringo really shows his chops.
All time classic
it's abbey road. obvious 5 star
I'm excited for this one! Hard to believe but I've never listened to it! I somehow missed my "Beatles" phase...
Classic 100%
Exquisite. No notes. I love it more and more with every listen.
There’s a very fine reason this is considered the fab fours finest moment. Top to bottom there’s amazing songs. Whether it starts with the fantastically titled “Come Together” or the perfectly named “The End”. Banger after banger can be heard here.
Listened on vinyl. 9.5/10. A few songs that seem more like filler than anything else, but nothing I need to skip and a lot of fantastic songs throughout. I Want You is probably my favorite Beatles song ever. I like how everything flows together on the B side. Sun King is an obvious nod to Albatross from Fleetwood Mac. Come Together - 9.5/10 Something - 8.5/10 Maxwell's - 4.5/10 Oh! Darling - 7.5/10 Octopus's Garden - 6/10 I Want You - 10/10 Here Comes The Sun - 9/10 Because - 8.5/10 You Never Give - 6.5/10 Sun King - 7/10 Mean Mr. Mustard - 5.5/10 Polythene Pam - 5.5/10 She Came In - 7.5/10 Golden Slumbers - 6.5/10 Carry That Weight - 7.5/10 The End - 6/10 Her Majesty - 10/10
An unequivocal masterpiece but also a very clear reminder of why it was time for the Beatles to all go their own way. Octopus's Garden next to Come Together and Golden Slumbers? It was time but thank goodness we got this first
What's not to like about this album? The Golden Slumbers -> The End is one the most fantastic endings to album of all time, Harrison gets more songwriting time on this album with two slaps: Something and Here comes the sun. Also worth noting: we previously listened to A Hard Day's Night, which came out in 1964. This album, five years later, is completely unrecognizable from that era of Beatles. Five years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Name another band which had such a rapid career arc. You can't!
Album muy solido, que fluye muy bien durante todo el tiempo. Something es mi tema fav y creo que el medley del final es algo innovador y disfrutable.
so much better than a hard days night all the songs are good.I don’t know what else to say but that’s it’s really really good.
Easy.
Been a long time since I've listened to it start to finish.
Always a classic, even if the Beatles are sometimes regarded as the pumpkin spice lattes of these “best album” lists. Honestly the transition from Polythene Pam to She Came in Through the Bathroom Window is one of the best of all time.
There's something about albums recorded by bands fraught with tension - more often than not they end up being shit, but once in awhile you get something like Abbey Road or Rumours. "Come Together" is a fantastic opening salvo, and the immediate switch of gears into "Something" is a nice touch. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is... "Maxwell's Silver Hammer." Not the finest moment in The Beatles catalogue, nor their history. "Octopus's Garden" was one of my early favourites when I first started exploring the lads from Liverpool. "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is a BEAST! Billy Preston is an incredible addition to the group here. "Here Comes The Sun" led to one of my favourite Nina Simone recordings. "Golden Slumbers" is one of my favourite later life/deep cut discoveries. Five-star album through and through. "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" can be forgiven for the fact that this album also brought us McLemore Avenue by Booker T & The M.G.'s and George Benson's The Other Side of Abbey Road.
So many classics. Paul McCartney’s songwriting skills are so evident in the second half of the album I love how each song flows into the next. Hot take tho not top 3 in their discography 🫢
Listened to this album multiple times, I love it every time. Always a classic.

so many great songs
Love, favorite Beatles album.
A masterpiece
This album is perfection.
What a classic album! Top fave tracks: Maxwell's Silver Hammer, Octopus' Garden and Mean Mr Mustard… Come Together is a great opener.
Not much to say other than it's a fine classic
Not my favourite Beatles album, but an undeniable classic worthy of 5 stars.
Simply one of the top 5 albums of all time. From 'She's So Heavy' onwards, this is a sublime medley taking the listener of a journey displaying The Beatles at the height of their powers.
Love this album, of course. I forgot how much I liked some of the songs.
Touched by divine genius
This is the Beatles album I've been waiting for. It's the perfect mix of the Beatles experimental and songwriting genius sides. The opening track, Come Together, is the perfect example of this. They may have been struggling to work together at this stage, but individually each Beatle was on top form for this album. Here Comes the Sun and Something are arguably George's two best songs, I Want You (She's So Heavy) is classic Lennon, and Paul did a great job with the medley that forms most of Side 2. Even Octopuses Garden is Ringo doing Ringo to perfection. The Fab Four living up to the hype. Rating: 5/5 Playlist track: Come Together Date listened: 13/12/22
What can I say that hasn’t been said? I will say, there’s a couple songs on here that really made me think about knocking it to a 4/5 (I’m looking at you, Maxwell) however the rest of the album more than makes up for a couple silly ones. Iconic song after iconic song. The last 3 songs are such an experience. The build into Carry That Weight makes me want to SCREAM every single time. A gorgeous album.
One of the best ever. Big fan of all Beatles, esp. Rubber Soul and after. Abbey Road one of the best. Favorite lyric: “And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make.”
A serious contender for the best album of all time. I have heard this entire album plenty of times and hear the songs present often, and while I have pages I could write about the amount of amazement this album holds within, I worry that this may have a word limit, and so I will keep it brief in saying this is just immaculately made, and while nothing here is my favorite Beatles' song, many come close. Perhaps not my favorite Beatles' album, but easily the best, and no matter what a 5 star. One of the few albums that deserves the overwhelming amount of praise it gets.
SIX
Anything other than 5 would be sacrilege. An essential record
#1 rating on this app. A whooping 4.45/5 grade. You don't need my review here. You just need to listen to this historical gem-of-a-record if you haven't already. "Come Together", "Something", "Here Comes The Sun", "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", the 'medley' at the end... So many great tracks. Plus, the Beatles basically invented the "modern" album, with this one and the white one, plus *Rubber Soul*, *Sgt. Pepper* and *Revolver*. How can one *not* include those on a list like this? Number of albums left to review: 718 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 141 (including this one) Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 69 Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more important): 77
Rating: 9/10 Best songs: come together, Something, Maxwell’s silver hummer, Oh darling, I want you, Here comes the sun, The end
My second favorite (after Sergeant Pepper's). There is some validity to the criticism that it's too much Paul and not enough John, but it has some absolute classics "Here Comes the Sun", "Something", "She Came in through the Bathroom Window".
How can you give it anything but a 5 c'mon now. If you give it less than a 5 I'll take you out with the silver hammer
I probably still like Revolver and Rubber Soul a little better, but they're all 5 stars in my book. Great album. George was really starting to come into his own and contribute in a meaningful way. I know they took some slack for all of the effects and instrumentation, but they were really pioneers in retrospect.
easy peasy lemon squeezy. she came in through the bathroom window is the bestest song
One of the best albums of all time
Easily my favorite Beatles album, good songs front to back!
lol
I've never realized it until listening to this album just now that four individual tracks, starting with Sun King are not all just one. Until now I thought all four were one continuous track. [Sun King / Mean Mr. Mustard / Polythene Pam / She Came in Through the Bathroom Window] Not the best Beatles album in my opinion, side one and side two have different vibes. Regardless, this good enough to make this list. Hard to imagine ever scoring the Beats at a less than five. But this rides just above the cusp of a four.
This could nearly be a 5 star album on the strength of the two George Harrison songs alone. Adding Come Together, Oh Darling!, and Golden Slumbers and Carry That Weight seals the deal. The rest is the most delicious gravy possible. The genius that is the bulk of side 2 is as audacious as it is tuneful. It just doesn’t get better than this.
Great shtuff
The Beatles ditching some of the experimental stuff and returning to making a great album with a few janky tunes. Some of the songs on here are up there with the best they ever did. Hard to argue.
Yep, this album is filled with bangers
One of those albums I’ve heard was good but never listened to from start to finish. Pretty amazing.
Fantastic
While it isn't the best ever Beatles album, it still has some of their greatest ever songs (and song fragments). Maxwell's Silver hammer can fuck off into the sun. That aside, lots to love. I Want You (she's so heavy). Two of Georgie's Best. Because. I Want You (she's so heavy). Remembering watching Ringo and George working through Octopuses Garden in its infancy on Get Back. Oh Darlin. The medley! I Want You (she's so heavy)!!!! Seriously that song is just the best.
Still great
Is het lekkere muziek om te luisteren? Ja. Is het origineel en creatief? Ja? Staan er hits op? Ja. Zitten er nummers tussen die je raken? Ja. Zitten er nummers tussen met sentimentele waarde? Ja. Heeft het invloed gehad in de muziekgeschiedenis? Ja. Is zelfs de hoes een icoon? Ja.
-"Come Together is just a killer song with an iconic drumbeat. Idk the interaction between the drums and bass makes a dope beat. The lyrics are totally nonsensical as far as I know but they are still dope. -"Maxwell's Silver Hammer" is an absolute banger I don't care how goofy it is -The jump in intensity in "Oh Darling!" is dope. Also the yelling bits are mega intense and very fun to sing along to -OI OI GOOD JOB RINGO "Octopus's Garden" IS A RIGHT JOLLY CHUNE, VERY SPLENDID AND ABSOLUTELY SILLY SCENARIO (octopuses don't have gardens, so it is very silly) -"I Want You (She's So Heavy)" is a super heavy tune with a great breakdown. I love the shredding keyboards -The drum, bass, and cool voice after the kick in in "You Never Give Me Your Money" is cool. The guitar like 2/3 of the way in has cool licks as well -"Mean Mr Mustard" and "Polythene Pam" are totally bangers. Both a quick, right little songs with lots going on that just get stuck in your head -"The End" is just an absolute banger with such a good drum solo from Ringo (as much as I hate to admit it) and some sweet guitar shredding. -"The End" is really an incredible way to end their recording career and the final line being "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" is really beau-OH SHIT out of nowhere here's "Her Majesty" to screw that whole idea up /sidenote -The medley isn't quite the smooth medley that everyone claims. It has some great song transitions, but also has some starts and stops. I'd argue it's more like this: (slashes denote 2 different songs, arrow means they flow together) -You Never Give Me Your Money/Sun King>Mean Mr Mustard>Polythene Pam>She Came In Through The Bathroom Window>Golden Slumbers>Carry That Weight>The End/Her Majesty /end sidenote -For me, this album's songs are in 4 tiers: 1) Godly songs: "Come Together," "Maxwell's Silver Hammer," "Octopus's Garden," "I Want You (She's So Heavy)," "Mean Mr Mustard," Polythene Pam," and "The End" 2) Good Songs: "Oh! Darling!," "You Never Give Me Your Money," "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window," "Golden Slumbers," "Carry That Weight," and "Her Majesty" 3) Fine songs: "Here Comes The Sun" and "Sun King" 4) Songs I don't really care for and I am aware I will be crucified for: "Something" and "Because" -All in all, the album got bangers and good tunes and flows and they really do be crossing the street on the cover
One of the greatest albums ever put to vinyl. A real mastepiece. Some of The Beatles' best tracks are on this album, even the more silly songs like Maxwell's Silver Hammer are pretty good here. However the absolute best part of this album is The Meddley. A true classic in every meaning of that word.
Perfect
Y si, la música con la que fui adoctrinado desde chiquito. Estoy escuchando la Super Deluxe Edition ya que estoy con 40 tracks 🤺🥂🎯
Who in the fuck gives Abbey Road 1 ⭐️??
No caption needed.
Another album where I'm not sure what else can be said. This is probably my favorite Beatles album (either this or Revolver) and it's fantastic, but I think it's important to acknowledge that it isn't perfect. The Beatles were so highly and blindly acclaimed that they were able to get away with a couple of actual duds ("Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "Oh! Darling") on what's considered one of the best albums of all time. "Octopus' Garden" is quite silly too, but I love that one. Obviously though, "Come Together", "Something", and the entire second side of the album are solid gold. I had also forgotten how much I love "I want You (She's So Heavy)"!
Heard it many times
speechless...
The Beatles were falling apart at this time. They created an album of near perfection. Masterful. Five.
If you look up the word perfection in the dictionary. It says 'The Beatles - Abbey Road'.
Vinyl on the radiogram. It is good, isn't it.
Great
Crazy album wesh, la giga dingz ! Big bangerz in there and also some I did not know. Definitely a classic.
Hard to not rate this album a 5. Most songs are classic and perfect in every details. But most importantly the whole things is so good all together.... Also hard to find negative things.. So definitely 5/5
Ok, yeah. It's brilliant, I can even forgive Maxwell's Silver Hammer, the rest of it is so good.
5* in spite of, not because of the twee nonsense of Maxwell's Silver Hammer and the execrable Her Majesty.
Masterpiece.
I've listened to this one plenty before getting this prompt. The Beatles were experts at making an album with no lulls in production from one song to the other, and Abbey Road is clearly no different. Also, I'm very partial to the ending medley.
Amazing album anything less 4 stars and you need to see a hearing professional.
Come Together might be my favorite beatles song. Another excellent Beatles album
It's another 5 star Beatles albums. It's almost boring rating Beatles albums, they're pretty much all going to be 5 stars. Two of the best songwriters of all time in the same band, groundbreaking recording techniques, and a discography that is top-notch all the way through almost makes it unfair. Some of their best songs are on this one.
Abbey ever after.
5/5. What an amazing album. Truly a masterpiece. Not a single bad song, it’s crazy how each one is just followed by another.
10/10. fue la primera vez en la vida que Escuché a los beatles y quedé tan enloquecida que espiralé y estoy mirando get back ??? buenardo
cara esse é o meu fav deles, entao nao é justo. something é a maior música de amor do mundo
lenda
One of the most well produced, best written, enjoyable albums ever. 5/5
Amazing
Enough amazing tracks on this to make it a 5-star album, but to be honest I could have done without a couple of songs like Maxwell's Silver Hammer or Polythene Pam.
Lost notes but we know about this album 5/5
Outstanding album. The first two tracks are two of the best of all time and the medley-style second half works very nicely. Something my favourite track.
Um so yeah, great album. Minus Maxwell’s Silver Hammer. That song ruined the album, great job Paul lol. But still great fucking album. This is the last album the Beatles recorded together, but the second to last that was released (Let It Be album was released afterwards bc they were trying to make the Get Back movie series, but that didn’t actually happen until 2021 lol). Come Together - banger Something - best love song ever written Maxwell's Silver Hammer - suck a dong Oh! Darling - ight, but a banger nonetheless Octopus's Garden - well it’s at least the best song Ringo ever wrote haha I Want You (She's So Heavy) - absolute fucking brilliance Here Comes the Sun - gorgeous, thank you George <3 Because - heart melting You Never Give Me Your Money - stunning piano Sun King - always sounds like a peaceful summer night Mean Mr. Mustard - I mean, it’s ight haha Polythene Pam - I mean, it’s ight haha She Came In Through the Bathroom Window - a bangin song about a prostitute bangin? Hell yeah Golden Slumbers - sweetest lil lullaby Carry That Weight - so sad bc you know it’s getting near to the end. Great reprise of You Never Give Me Your Money The End - absolutely fantastic, but so sad bc this is the last song the Beatles wrote and recorded. They all have rockin solos Her Majesty - the Beatles shortest song ever. Also, very overused in memes right now. In general: 9/10 My rating: 9/10
A master class in rock music. I want you (she's so heavy) is fucking ridiculous. The B side medley, always great. Ends strong. That fucker Ringo really likes the ocean.
There has already been enough said about this album, 5/5 start to finish.
The sky is blue so am crying😳, you keep getting me mehnnn. Keep em coming
Come Together is a good song, it has an iconic bass line and there is a reason it is well known. Something was okay, I didn’t like it as much as Come Together but I can see how someone would enjoy it. Maxwell’s Silver Hammer wasn’t what I expected, although I didn’t know what to expect, again it was okay though. Oh! Darling I did quite enjoy, especially the more strained, rocky, Roger Taylor-esque vocals, my favourite song so far. Octupus’s Garden is to catchy, I don’t want to like it, given how ridiculous it is, bug I’d be lying if I said I didn’t. I Want You (She’s So Heavy) was okay, I was a fan of the heavier segments because I like metal breakdowns, so I’ll give it that, wasn’t my favourite, wasn’t the worst. Here Comes The Sun I don’t like, I can’t say why, the guitar is fine, the song is iconic, the vocals are good, I just don’t like it and don’t think it should be their most popular song. Because I feel weird about, I feel like it would work better if it was covered by a band like Ghost, it would fit their creepier aesthetic well, but it was ok. You Never Give Me Your Money I know because of the Tenacious D cover, which I love, it so upbeat and fun, and I do prefer it over this version, but this is still decent. Sun King I wasn’t a huge fan of, it was a tad to dreary for me, however the change in language caught me off guard. Mean Mr Mustard was good in comparison to Sun King, I quite enjoyed the drums. Polythene Pam segued quite well from MMM, which then flowed nicely to… She Came In Through The Bathroom Window, which is fine, I have preferred other songs, but this is one of my higher songs, although I feel like this, PP, MMM and possibly Sun King should have been one big song. Golden Slumbers I didn’t know that I knew, it’s an okay song, but I have known the song for years and didn’t know it was by them, so that was a nice surprise. Carry That Way again segued nicely from Golden Slumbers, and I did like it, especially the callback to YNGMYM. The End is the other half of the Tenacious D cover, so I did know this as well, again preferred the Tenacious D cover, however I did like this version as well, and I really liked the guitar solo and drums. Her Majesty I don’t think should be on the album, it was unnecessary, it should have ended with The End. Overall, my dislike of the Beatles may have been unwarranted, Abbey Road was a pretty good album, I think some songs were better than others, and that some *cough* HCTS *cough* are quite overrated, but I get why this is one of the greatest albums now. 4.6/5
He say, one and one and one is three Got to be good looking 'cause he's so hard to seeeeeeeeeeee
Likely the best album ever recorded.
An integral moment in music history, and such a delight. Never a dull moment here. There's often a back-and-forth for me claiming this album to be the best in the Beatles discography, only matched by Revolver. Favourite Tracks: - All, except Octopus' Garden & Sun King Overall Score: 5/5
One of my all time favourite albums
Would listen again.
What an album! Simply amazing! I wanted to listening to it all day
Amazing The cracks beginning to show with group; ringo solo song, McCartney + Lennon not working together as much, harrison consistent as always; still manage to put together an incredible album 5/5 penultimate album
5 estrellas.
Doesn't get much better than that!
Still holds up, absolutely stellar album overall. Such a great mix of Beatles songs, and feels somewhat nostalgic especially when listening to Octopus's Garden - my first official introduction to the Beatles, by my father. Maxwell's Silver Hammer still has the double-effect of making me creeped by the lyrics, but still enjoy the fun melody.
It is impossible not to give five stars for a album like this.
Class
Solid. Didn’t realise Golden Slumbers was the Beatles.
There are so many fantastic songs on this album. I wish they’d tightened it up at the end instead of having a bunch of shorter songs, but this is still a 4.5 rounded up to 5.
God, I fucking love this album.
A classic. Insta 5
Forgot how many truly great songs are on this album. Thinks you completely forget are Beatles songs. Solid combination or pop and even heavier rock than I was expecting.
Un de mes albums préférés à vie! Tout simplement génial. L'enchainement des pièces à la fin tout simplement génial.
Two days in a row where the worst song on the album is called "Come Together"! This one redeems itself almost immediately with "Something" and keeps the high quality going until The End. 3 Beatles albums in the past 2 weeks, what's to say apart from marvel in their diverse excellence. You forget how good they were
A lot of variation in genre and composition, spread over long and short songs, which are actually pretty good and unique. Reminds me of other bands like The Who, Queen, Santana and Cream. Definetly understandable how this got famous, especially since it's from 1969. Favourite track: Here Comes The Sun.
Very calm album. Nothing was overly amazing, but tons of quality tracks. Favorites: Come together, octopus' garden, here comes the sun, maxwell's silver hammer

What can anyone say about such album? Masterpiece!
nothing more to say
Finally, a Beatles album I can get behind. Very few of the dated, cloying songs that I hate so much.
One and One and One Make Three
This was probably the first Beatles album that I really listened to properly. These songs are imprinted on me at a pretty deep level. There's so much amazing stuff on here - the arrival of George as a tour-de-force, the Long Medley, the final harmonies and guitar solos on The End, Ringo's voice overpowering the chorus on Carry That Weight, I Want You - just wow.
Don’t think there’s an album I’ve listened to in its entirety more than Abbey Road. So yeah. It’s OK.
Not much I can say about this album that hasn't already been said. I'll just say that this is a fitting finale for the greatest band that ever was. 5 stars.
I didn't listen to this, but I gave it 5 stars all the same. It should be 6. It's probably my favourite album of all time. Quite a dull, unadventurous choice. But's it's their finest piece of work from what is an impressive and exhaustive choice. I listen to it rarely these days. I don't like to overkill it. But when I do listen, I really DO listen. It doesn't deserve being on in the background whilst I work away at home. The run of songs for the final suite can't be bettered. Perfection. Their finest work.
One of those rare albums that when I try to write or say anything about it, I feel a little silly. It's Abbey Road. It's a truly rare and remarkable work of art.
I understand when John said there are too many of Paul's Granny songs on here. It's still a brilliant album. Very hard for me to justify not giving it 5*
An iconic album no matter how you look at it. Some of the greatest hits from the Beatles
10/5….classic..one of the best of all time
not really a lot you can say about this that hasn't already been said.
My wife often says to me "Nigel, you're a 46 year old man who's fantastic at giving me orgasms. Do you really have to scream 'Come together' every time we're reaching climax?". The truth is, I don't know that I'm doing it. I've filmed us fucking eachother many times and she's right, about 14 minutes in, at the top of my lungs, I bellow "come together" over and over until she's finished. It takes me another 10 minutes of wanking over her tits before I can cum though. One day we'll do it.
Put some bloody shoes on, Paul! You damn hippy.
The greatest band of all time bids farewell with a stunning, self-assured masterpiece. Sometimes tender, sometimes bombastic, a thrill right to the end.
I don't think there's anything I need to say about this one.
With a little more polish, I could see these guys getting really popular.
Classique. Définitivement à avoir écouté une fois dans sa vie, mais c'est difficile de ne pas y revenir.
Only a few 5* songsfor me, but a a whole...
It’s fucking Abbey Road
I'm not the biggest fan of the first half of this album. It ranks low for me, Beatles-ly speaking. But then the second half makes up for it. By the time you get to The End you cannot help but give it the full five, right?
First time listening through. Much more mellow than other Beatles releases but possibly my new favorite. Emily knew every song
Predobar je jednostavno. Nisam ga nikad cijelog poslušala i htjela sam imat neke kritike, ali ih nema. Jebeni beatelsi.
P.S. Ivane, Ringo Starr će nadživit Paula - Jameson će biti moj.
Nema se šta komentirat.
Discazo
A classic. Timeless
As close to perfect as you can get
An amazing album with some of the best lyricism from the band. And the medley is just great too.
Probably one of the greatest albums ever. Beatles at their peak. A complete album
Never listened to this one in its entirety before and I must say I'm pretty surprised. It's a lot heavier and more complex than I expected and actually more reminiscent of late Queen albums than of the well-known Beatles pop-rock hits. I also had some difficulty in rating this one. At first I was a bit confused because it didn't fit my expectations of what it would be like. At the same time I found the album composition pretty weird. The individual tracks seemed like they don't fit together and some of the contrasts seemed to jarring. Still, I thought the individual tracks were mostly pretty awesome. Right after it finished I gave it a second spin and it seemed a lot more organic when I knew what to expect. It's a great album. Maybe more of a 4.5 than a 5, but great nonetheless.
Possibly, or probably definitely, the best album of all time
Grandes!!
Ovo nema rasprave 😄
No need to listen to this album again in order to rate it: one of these super-classic albums that is in every best-of album list. each individual song fully analyzed, (but of course the album still works best when played as a whole).
I mean, come on.
It's so hard to rate the Beatles because everyone has heard these songs a billion times. Objectively a 5* though. It's been a long time since I listened to this album, it may be my favorite album as whole with the White Album following closely behind.
Great Album!
Is Abbey Road the best Beatles album? Not in my book. It's got some great great songs and starts off with a fantastic one two punch of Come Together and Something. But there a couple of songs that some wou,d call whimsical and charming I would describe as unnecesary filler. (though their sense of melody is strong even in those throwaway tunes. So it's not their best but it's still an easy 5 star album.
Yay Beatles!!!… The album opens with come together and what makes this a good opener is all down to that iconic guitar riff ( well it is in my opinion anyway) this song lyrics are rather nonsensical but they’re just there to carry the song really than to be it’s focus. It’s great though! Something is probably one of the most loved songs from this album and I have to agree it’s George Harrison’s magnum opus everything from that iconic guitar riff to the amazing lyrics and thundering chorus another banger! Now, was it worth getting the anvil for maxwells silver hammer? I’am not too sure but it’s still a fine song it’s one of those happy sounding songs that are really dark, the chorus is probably my favourite bit very catchy and the piano work after makes it so epic. Oh darling, is a great slower songs but still with a rampaging chorus probably not one of my favourite Paul songs but that’s just because he’s done so many bangers. Piano work is excellent here. Octopus’s garden is very Ringo it’s not a top tier song but still good all the instrumentation is perfect, the chorus is one of the most infectious ever. But it just sounds like a kids song. I want you ( she’s so heavy) is the very opposite to octopus’s garden a very John Lennon song a spiralling 7 minute epic with one of the best guitar riffs ever by the end it gets all fuzzy only to have one of the moon abrupt ending’s in music history. I still like it though. [yeah that was side one probably one of the best displays of each Beatles individual talents] Here comes the sun the most popular song that wasn’t a single, yeah this is a classic, great guitars good lyrics one of the most memorable songs of all time; great song! Then is because essentially a drugged up cult like chant with one of my favourite opening lines of all time in “ because the world is round it turns me on”. It’s solid though but only because of that vocal layering if not the attraction would probably be gone. [ now for the medley] You never give me your money: It has great piano work, good lyrics and while this is the only one that isn’t a fragment of this song this one has never been a favourite of mine. The flow between this and sun king is just a bit odd as well with some bug noises bridging the gap. I think it would’ve been better as it’s own song than park of this. Sun king: it’s essentially a reprise of because with different lyrics not bad but the album’s worst. Mean mr mustard: a short kinda comical little track It’s not a favourite but the flow into polythene pam is good. Polythene pam: my opinion on this one is practically the same as mean mr mustard but it flows well into she came in through the bathroom window. She came in through the bathroom window: best intro of the whole medley it’s sort of the end of the “first half” of the medley as there’s no flow into golden slumber’s. It’s a very good song though. Golden slumbers : probably my favourite song off the medley great lyrics great chorus which is kinda like a trick thing as it flows the same way it does into carry that weight! Carry that weight: another favourite of the medley the most uplifting track top song again! The end: I like this one and it’s a great closer to the album and to the Beatles catalogue and the lyrics are great but out of the this and the previous two theres no competition. [ bonus track] Her majesty: ( ha ha i’am doing this on the day before the jubilee) it’s okay… {Also on a Beatles note unrelated to the album my Spotify rolled over to I saw her standing there the first song on their debut so that’s cool.} Probably the funniest review I’ve ever done! Anyway it’s a true classic and still only my 3rd favourite Beatles album!
Oh end era Beatles, the great Abbey Road, a tribute to all their creativity I think, wonderful notes to end on. My Favourites are "Come Together" "Something" "Her Majesty" "Maxwells Silver Hammer" "Oh Darling" "Octopus's Garden" "I Want you (She's So Heavy)" "Here Comes The Sun" "Because" "You Never Give Me Your Money" "Sun King" "Mean Mr Mustard" "Polythene Pam" "She Came In Through The Kitchen Window" "Golden Slumbers" "Carry The Weight" and "the End" so that is the whole album then. Believe or not this is not my favourite Beatles Album (Which is the White Album) but it is in the top two! wonderful stuff that shows how influential these four liverpool lads are to music today sixty years after they started their journey to the "Toppermost of the Poppermost" great stuff and in my top 10 albums of all time.
I've heard this many many times already. Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Sun King are maybe lower points, but there are some all-time great songs on here. Here Comes the Sun is probably George's best, and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" and "The End" are two personal favorites.
One of the greatest albums of all time
nice
