Banger mais pas le meilleur des Beatles

One of the best Beatles albums. Favourite songs: You never give me your money, Oh! Darling, Carry that weight, Here comes the Sun

first complete listen, as shocking as that sounds. i only knew the popular songs like come together, something, here comes the sun which are such jams. here comes the sun was hitting me so hard while deeply listening to it. it reminded me of seasonal depression. it felt really comforting and hopeful. the album had such silly elements to it that i did not expect- sounds and lyrics. i loved it!(:

One of the best for a reason.

It’s fucking Abbey Road. What an album. It’s one I’ve listened to countless times but am still not tired of it. So many great songs, with one (honestly completely harmless) dud, Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, though even that’s a bit of goofy fun about a guy going around killing people with a hammer. From that bumpin, smooth, sleazy groove of Come Together, to the bittersweet Something, to the cacophonous I Want You, to the revelatory brightness of Here Comes The Sun, the intricate choir on Because, or that immaculate final medley which sees a wide range of things, with its melancholic ballads about the band’s late-stage management troubles, energetic rock-n-roll numbers, tribute to Fleetwood Mac’s Albatross, and heartfelt goodbye featuring solos by all members (yes, including Ringo), this album truly is immaculately put together, incredibly diverse, *so* well-produced, and such a brilliant way to close out a legacy as insane as the Beatles left behind. You’re gonna carry that weight, a long time.

I remember this was the first Beatles album I ever got on CD, for my birthday in... I wanna say 2011? And ever since, it's never stopped being my favorite. It's just non-stop masterpieces, front to back. Yes, even "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"; I **love** all of the Moog shit on it. But especially "Something", "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", "Here Comes The Sun" and the entire medley. I get the arguments for REVOLVER as the more important Beatles album, but on a purely musical level, there's no other album that inspires as much joy in me as this one does. And I'm not even talking about just Beatles albums, or albums on this list. In general, it might be my favorite album ever made of all-time, and I cannot praise its ass enough. It's absolutely the one 6 I know I would give if I could. Now I jus' gotta hope the album I get after this can carry on this high.

A classic, through and through.

I’ve never heard this album in full. I’ve never listened to a Beatles album in full, really. I know the biggest hits from the band, and that’s really about it. This is a 10. Like, if I could give this a 10, it would get a 10. Instead, I have to give it a 5. I could try to gush about it, but really, I’m just kinda sitting here, stunned after the ending section of tracks that make up the final 8 of the album, wondering why I’ve never bothered to really go through The Beatles discography like that. This album is a genuine triumph of music, and I would imagine that for its time, it set the highest fucking bar imaginable; it's probably a bar that musicians today are still trying to reach, because for 2024, this still holds up unbelievably and timelessly well. It is indeed worth all the hype. That medley just hits like a fucking truck, man. This was their last album? That shit’s crazy. That’s gotta be the best final album ever. Just… wow.

Never been huge on The Beatles, I've heard lots of their songs but never listened to an album front to back. This was incredible. Only bad song for me was Sun King, everything else ranged from great to banger

One of the best bands of all time and one of their best albums

A perfect album. I can listen to it and enjoy it all the way through at any time. The musical themes repeated throughout are just icing on the cake.

Fantastic album.

Oh, man. When I was rating these songs for my own album collection project, I had to sit next to the cd player for most of the second half of the album. That is how smooth the transitions are. I hate the chorus to Carry That Weight, but it's the only part of the album I really don't like. I'd say the biggest highlights are Here Comes The Sun, Something and I Want You (She's So Heavy)

Depending on mood, often my favourite Beatles record, which puts Abbey Road at or near the top of a very illustrious pile. I mean, Maxwell and Octopus are very silly but aside from that, amazing. The sweep of side 2 is mind boggling.

A fantastic sound and solid tunes.

I don't like how the songs on the last half of the albums are all split into two different tracks, but whatever. I listened to Abbey Road twice today and really enjoyed it both times. Something and I Want You are probably both in my top 5 Beatles songs.

Vanvittigt album! Hvad kunne the fab four ikke? Abbey Road stikker i alle retninger og de mestre hver en genre

It's ABBEY FUCKING ROAD. Overall rating: 10/10

Pre album notes: i legit have never sat down and listened to this album before and i think i have an aversion to it just because it’s so popular. guess i’ll pony up and get over myself! Come Together - bop Something - good Maxwell’s Silver Hammer - oh a bit of a different vibe. just a goofy tune about murder! not sure how i feel about it but they can’t all be hits Oh! Darling - OKAYYY i have felt this. relatable. love it Octopus’s Garden - they’re just having fun with this one. i have to say as someone who likes They Might Be Giants a lot, no one told me the Beatles similarly just did silly stuff. I should’ve probably known this before adulthood. I Want You (She’s So Heavy) - love. DAMN. there’s not much here besides vibes but that’s fine. i can vibe. Here Comes The Sun - really a good song i have just heard it so many times Because - not my fav type of song, i’m not a big fan of queen (sue me) and other songs with dialed back instruments and harmonizing vocals in this style. at least it’s short.. You Never Give Me Your Money - okay yeah okay yeah!! turn it around, beetle. Sun King - no complaints. the spanish was fun. honestly would add this to a summer smoke playlist. transitioned into the next song super well!! Mean Mr. Mustard - they’re having fun w it. and they’re allowed! She Came In Through The Bathroom Window - same notes as the last few. makes me want to nod my head to the beat. honestly one of my favorites 🙈 Golden Slumbers - short & sweet! just not that notable. Carry That Weight - the transitions in this album are literally fucking insane. they brought me back just with how smooth that was. the themes! i totally get why this is on this list. everyone should listen to it once. The End - not much to say, guitar pops off a little Her Majesty - wait what is this doing here? the last song was such a good end song. this one has a much different vibe & is so short. i like how many of these are short.

Wow. What can be said about this album, that hasn't been said. I'll just say it's incredible.

Doesn't really have any skips. All of the songs are pretty good, which is a rare thing. Even Maxwell's Hammer was funny, it was so deranged.

Now here’s a good one. Certainly a familiar one. From the iconic cover photo to the final strains of “Her Majesty”, this is one of the best known albums ever. #1 across the world, 12x platinum sales in USA, well over 30 million sold across the world. A great album, probably the best of the late stage Beatles albums. But a bit behind their peak middle period. This first 2/3 of the album is outstanding, what one expects from the Beatles. A mix of timeless classics (“Something”, “Come Together”, “Here Comes The Sun), quirky-but-catchy songs (“Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”, “Octopus’sGarden”) and just plain great stuff (“I Want You”, “Because”). The last 1/3 of the album is a collage of bits and pieces woven together into a medley (of sorts). It’s a clever bit, but at the core, it is a collection of fragments that couldn’t (wouldn’t) get fleshed out into stand alone songs. It is interesting, and “worthy”, but not wonderful. This isn’t a perfect album, and it’s not quite as good as some other Beatles’ work. Still, absolutely an album everyone should listen to and know. And the #1 rated album on the 1001albums generator site. Obvious 5/5

Excellen!

How do you even review such a classic album? One of the best ever. So many classic songs on this record but even the ones that aren't considered classics are great. I don't think there is a single skip on this one. I've been listening to this since I was a kid and will continue to listen to it probably until I'm dead. It deserves all the hype it has ever gotten.

I freakin love this album. Maybe not my favorite album by The Beatles, but for sure in my top 3. I love how it starts out with all the bangers mixed with weird lovely songs. No one can hate Come Together, it slaps every time. Something is such a good follow up, kind of grounds the listener and get more emotional. And then just get weird Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Oh! Darling. But then gets rrrrreal weird with Octopus's Garden. Shout out to my guy, Ringo. Just glad he snuck this one in there. Its such a gem. Then the record starts to be bi-polar. We have the 8 minute heavy jam of I Want You (She's so Heavy) that then lightens up with the best happy song of all time, Here Comes The Sun. And then it goes right back into Because and You Never Give Me Your Money. They're just toying with our emotions. I love it. But I think what really does this album, is the final 7 short songs that all kind of feel like 1 song. Sun King > The End + Her Majesty. It flows so well. It tells a story, its almost prog? But then not at all. Its just so perfectly The Beatles in all their glory and weirdness. Its endearing, its emotional, its sentimental. Its just kind of everything.

Probably The Beatles’ most coherent album, despite it being the last they recorded before they broke up. Amazing start to finish with the exception of “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” which was apparently a nightmare for everyone but Paul. Harrison’s two songs on the album are probably the best: “Here Comes the Sun” and “Something”.

Maybe it's over-rated at this point, definitely overexposed... still undeniably great though.

ok it is a 5. I always found the recording and every single instrument here so wonderful, it also serves the songwriting and makes it shine, and that songwriting is so fresh, it would be incredible in 2024 as well. Wonderful music for any person, any age, one of their 3 masterpieces for me with Revolver and White Album

My favorite album of all-time. Not a wasted second or note. The grin across my face when this popped up as my album of the day says it all. True perfection, one that will always inspire me and provide me endless happiness. 5+/5

One of the best albums ever, and probably my personal favorite.

nnot their best album, but iconic anyway, very good

I thought this album was awesome, because while the hits are undeniable (come together, something, here comes the sun), almost all the songs are good. Except Maxwell's Silver Hammer, that song is so ass 9.5/10

dont have much to say

Nothing I can say that hasn’t been said

My second favorite Beatles album, such an incredible album Top tracks: Come Together, Something, Oh! Darling, I Want You (She’s So Heavy), Here Comes The Sun

What's not to like? I own several Beatles vinyl LPs. I didn't know over half of the songs on this album.

One of their best.

The album seamlessly navigates a diverse soundscape, experimenting with unexpected textures and tempos, yet retains a remarkably cohesive heartbeat throughout. The band's willingness to push boundaries shines, hinting that this could be their most accomplished work. Moments of soaring, majestic melody collide with more intimate, introspective passages, offering a listening experience that feels both fresh and timeless.

eins der besten

‘Oh! Darling, please believe me, I’ll never do you no harm’ McCartney says the song immediately after having sung about murdering multiple people with hammers. But, yeah, fine, you got me. This is a masterpiece

can't go wrong.

Great album by the best to do it

Состарилось не очень хорошо, не понимаю, почему добавили в список его. Но за динамичность четыре звезды.

Classic Some of my favourite Beatles songs: Something Come together Here comes the sun

5/5 great listen. Listened on the way to work on 2/21/24

It's albums like this that highlight the ultimate failings of the 5-star system. I've given so many other albums 5-stars, and yet, VERY few of them can hold a candle to an album like 'Abbey Road'. So when you see this 5-star rating, understand that what I actually mean is that this is one of those transcendental 5-star ratings - the kind where any number of stars has difficulty really doing justice to the incredible masterwork that is 'Abbey Road'. It is a King amongst Kings, the Beatles' last hurrah, their magnum opus, and a culmination of their unmatched musical prowess that, to this very day, is STILL talked about, lauded, and admired for its unparalleled influence and the pure enjoyment it brings to music fans everywhere. 'Come Together', 'Something', 'Oh! Darling', 'Octopus's Garden' (Yes, this one is an absolute joy to listen to and is pop perfection, don't try to tell me otherwise), 'I Want You (She's So Heavy)', 'Here Comes The Sun' - every single one of those essential, classic tracks is on the same freakin' album, and that's without me even mentioning the incredible medley on the album's second half that's kicked off by "You Never Give Me Your Money". Essentially, this is about as good as any music anywhere gets, and god damn is it ever amazing.

probably maybe the beet beatles album.

Easy 5 stars. Not sure there is a better album beginning to end.

All time great.

banger after banger

Love it. One of my favorites.

What can I say that hasn’t already be said. This is a great album start to finish. Even the less popular songs are great and fit well with the others. This album can be enjoyed in heavy rotation.

p164. 1969. 5 stars. More ideas and creativity in 47 minutes than most bands manage in an entire career. Half a point docked for excessive wankage on "Oh Darling" and "I Want You (She's So Heavy)", but bonus half a point for the incredible song cycle on side 2.

Octopus' Garden is a shockingly fun song to play on Rock Band. 5/5

Maybe the best they ever did.

Classic.

Just pure pop magic!

Amazing. Octopus's Garden has an awesome rhythm for running 180+SPM

More like “Owl Be Rowdy”, amirite? I don’t know what that means. Anyway. One of my all time favorite albums, from what might be my all time favorite band. If I had a couple beers in me I could probably talk about this album and things tangentially related to this album for an hour or more. As a kid when I was old enough to play records from my parents’s collection I gravitated to The Beatles and listened to them a lot. That experience probably has a lot to do with what my music tastes are now.

I mean, what can I say that hasn’t already been said about this album? About as perfect a Beatles record as there ever was, the beautiful sound of collaboration after a fractious period, a last gasp before all the wind was knocked out, one sweet dream coming true. Or something like that.

My favorite Beatles album, an easy five stars. The top rated on here for a reason, I don’t know what else to say.

Classic album. An amazingly I had never listened it completely in one session.

Still one of the greatest albums of all time

I’ve listened to this album countless times and will keep coming back to it. It is definitely one of my favorite Beatles albums. George’s songwriting really shines on this one with Something and Here Comes the Sun. I love how the last half of the album runs together with songs changing and melding into one another. And the finish (minus Her Majesty) is epic and iconic.

A masterpiece

CLASSIC. Some of the Beatles' most brilliant compositions.

#29. Disposition: there's a photograph of me, 11, in front of the red wrought iron gate to Strawberry Fields, with my little yellow Beatles pin buttons on the jacket. On the way back from a Bed & Breakfast road trip vacation through the UK, my parents hadn't been too keen on driving into Liverpool but after I threatened to Silver Hammer them if we don't do this (cried silent rivers actually) they gave in and I got to see some places of - is there a threshold to fandom? but pretty much: - the only band/thing I've ever been a proper fan of. Went to the museum, too (maybe they had been playing a cruel prank on me?), it was awesome! Since then - even though it's always been easy to reignite it - my love for the Beatles has grown old a bit; it's been A WHILE since I'd put on one of their albums to listen to with intent and attention. I... should do this more often, holy shit. Just immaculate, amazing, every second. The production. I want to live in this! Even in its two sillier outliers, I don't care. My special song mention goes to 'Golden Slumbers', because fu, Paul, I cry if I want to, now. One thousand stars.

I mean, come on

There’s a reason the whole world was totally and completely on the Beatles’ collective dick during the 60s, to borrow a phrase from Ice Tea. There are more good songs on this one album than most bands manage in their entire careers! Come Together, Something, Octopus’s Garden, and Here Comes The Sun are all great stand-alone tracks. Some of the shorter tracks like Golden Slumbers and Polythene Pam left me wanting me more. I think the rest of the tracks need to be listened to all together as an album rather than individually because together they’re greater than the sum of their parts!

IF ANYONE SAYS ANYTHING NEGATIVE ABOUT OCTOPUSES GARDEN I’LL KILL AGAIN. Where to start… Weirdly, Come Together might be my least favourite song on the album, doesn’t mean it’s not a banger though. Something is not only my favourite song on the album and favourite Beatles song, it might even be my favourite song of all time. Feel like I could fall in love with a piece of shit (even Chris) provided I was looking at it while this was playing. Harrison knocking it out the park on this one, with Something and Here Comes the Sun. Genuinely think there is a world we’re the Beatles might be even better than they were, had they let good old George have more than two songs an album. This may be a benefit of listening to the vinyl as I’ve never noticed it quite so acutely when listening on Spotify. But the way almost the entirety of Side 2 flows seamlessly into each other, making effectively one big track (sorry El G) is so satisfying. So yeah it’s alright innit… Simpsons reference: Every member referenced, 3/4 guest starred, and there are even some references to songs on this album. Might be the biggest Yes to this that we are going to have.

Not bad

Obviously I kind of knew what to expect going into this. Come together is a brilliant opening track. And I was enjoying the album and thinking to myself easy 5 stars all day long. Then I want you plays, why is it so long come on boys not cool. At this, I was ready to drop this down to a 4 Luckily, Harrison saves the day with here comes the sun, and another couple of songs afterwords ( golden slumbers and carry that weight) pushed it back to a five star. Over all I think the first half of the album ( apart from I want you ) does all the heavy lifting. And when I listen to it again I will be listening to tracks 1-5,7-8,11,12,14-15 the rest aren't needed.

Just an incredible album. The progression from Sun King to The End just blows me away each time. I love every song individually and as an album it just works so well. I want you(She’s so Heavy) drags a bit but I can forgive that as it’s the last song on the A Side so it feels more acceptable? Just an incredible album.

The masters of popular music craftsmanship. Nothing else really needs to be said. Their weakest tracks on any of their albums would be release singles on the albums of other acts. One of my favorite Beatles albums, (my absolute favorite being Revolver) there is just so much here. 60 years have passed since they arrived in America in 1964, and they still remain culturally relevant. I just love this album. Every decade I listen to it during my life, I am drawn to different tracks and learn more about myself as a musician. In their discography, recorded between The White Album, and Let It Be, Abbey Road was not just figuratively crossing the road, but during the decaying process of The Beatles, the band's identity increasingly dissolving back into a collection of individuals. Fortunately these are interesting individuals, and the magic was not yet spent. In the GET BACK long form documentary assembled, from footage by Peter Jackson, we see that the Let It Be sessions were largely an awkward and uncomfortable affair; a group of people at their own wake if you will. The formal decision and announcement that The Beatles had broken up was not made yet, but you can see in their faces, particularly Ringo Starr, that they knew, but that would come later. On this album you can feel producer Sir George Martin's deft touch. Abbey Road still possesses the charm of The Beatles writ large: adventurous songwriting, sonic risk taking, and precise engineering on such tracks as "Come Together", "Something", "Here Comes the Sun", and "Because" with Moog Synthesizer, 8 track recording, and true Stereo sound recording that comes through clearly and gives ever song depth and subtleties. This album set the entire popular music world on a new recording path. So many ideas were sparked by this album and all kept and produced meticulously by Sir George Martin. Songs that could have been silly, like "She Came in Through Bathroom Window", and the entire medley, would, in hindsight, foreshadow the entire dark heroin and cocaine years that awaited society in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. The beloved album cover has been imitated so many times by so many artists that I've lost count. 5 stars.

Wonderful little album

Well what can i say about this. Absolutely awesome. I ❤️ The Beatles and what an iconic album this is. So loved the inclusion of the acoustic takes at the end of the album and the banter between them. So cool and a bit emotional too hearing John's voice talking so candidly. Brilliant

What more is there to say. An all-timer.

I am sure that the true music connoisseur will disagree with my review, but I just love this album. Is every song a masterpiece? No, but they are just fun to listen to and nostalgic, and remind me of my younger years, not that on that old.

Perhaps the greatest album of all time. Flawless.

This album is a candidate for the best Beatles album which of course means that it’s a candidate for the best album of all time. The Beatles final album seeks to move beyond the fraught ‘Let it Be’ sessions and end up being a joyous final statement. The Abbey Road medley culminates with ‘The End’ and feels like a victory lap in the form of a dominant musical mini album to top off the most legendary career in popular music history. It’s fitting that the Beatles went out in their terms with one of the most memorable and influential records ever made.

the best beatles album and it's not even close

I mean... just one of the greatest records of all time. And I say that as someone who isn't a classic rock die-hard. Endless creativity, unique compositions that still feel fresh today. Even the sorta goofy tracks are just all-time classics.

There are 2-3 Beatles albums I like more than Abbey Road, but that doesn't mean AR is not a masterpiece which I love as well.

Great album full of hits

Absolut Classic!

An album I do not need to listen to as I bought it on vinyl on release and played it to death and still regularly listen. My favourite Beatles album behind Sgt Peppers. Without the inclusion of Octopus’s Garden and possibly Maxwells’s Silver Hammer this album would be faultless. The song segue on side 2 brilliant and I never tire listening to it. Come Together is perhaps the best John Lennon song ever and George’s Something one of the best love songs ever. The next album Let It Be was for me a letdown so for me Abbey Road was the last great Beatles record and an all time classic.

On one hand, I'm not a fan of the Beatles and want to give them three stars because I'm a punk. On the other hand, come together is one of their greatest songs. Don't tell anybody, but I'm going to give them five.

Amazing album. One of the best from the best of all time

Mi disco favorito de los Beatles, el sonido lo replica muy bien Wilco en su disco Sky Blue Sky

What a great album. The closing medley is just magnificent!

not my favorite Beatles album. But solid.

I love Abbey Road. Every time I listen I feel like I'm listening to two albums, where one album was jammed into the middle of another, but that's still cool. The record takes a left at the fork starting with Sun King. The road merges back at Golden Slumbers but the detour was scenic and you didn't mind it at all. I listen to this album at least once every few months and will continue to do that. Five stars for me.

A perfect album! ⭐️ x10000000000

Inspite of Sgt. Pepper existing, this is, without a doubt, the best album by The Beatles. It marked the last time they recorded together (Let It Be was released later, but recorded earlier). The maturity of songwrighting here is of the charts; every member contributed. Lennon wrote Come Together (where McCartney's bass plays the key role), I Want You (She's So Heavy) and Because. McCartney contributed the quirky Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Oh! Darling. Even Ringo Starr produced a timeless classic with the inescapable Octupus's Garden. But the real star, as far as songwrighting goes, is George Harrison: Something and Here Comes The Sun are iconic masterpieces that demonstrate how far he had come as a songwrighter. And then there is The Medley, composed of snippets of ideas and unfinished songs. It was a brilliant idea to compile these into probably the most famous medley in rock history, transcending the individual ideas and making a strangely coherent whole. The production is equally masterful. George Martin was back after the rather unsuccesful attempt at replacing him in the Get Back sessions (which would turn into Let It Be). The Beatles were able to use 8-track machines, which was a novelty at the time of production. We still can hear a good deal of experimentation, but it is always in service of the songs. Finally the cover artwork has become famous in it's own right. It's just the four guys, barefoot, crossing the street in front of Abbey Road Studios. It's such a simple concept, but it has become a cultural icon that even many people know who - sadly - have never listened to the album. This album is sheer brilliance, combined with talent and hard work. It's really iconic and one of the most important albums of Rock History. The Beatles managed to go out with a bang. 5/5

Always a great classic

I don't consider myself someone who likes the Beatles. But this album is impressive. Five stars just for writing Here Comes the Sun.

Haven't listened to this since I was a kid. I forgot how much talent they had.

Yeah this is pretty good I guess. These guys might be going somewhere.

Another banger

Favourite tracks: come together; something; Maxwell's silver hammer; here comes the sun; octopus' garden; I want you (she's so heavy); oh darling; mean mr mustard; golden slumbers; the end; she came in through the bathroom window; polythene Pam; because; sun king

So many hits. So many songs. Just awesome.

So there’s this list. And there are only a couple albums that belong on this list. This list is solely for those that have acquired a cultural ubiquity in the music world. Dark Side of the Moon. Nevermind. Rumours. Thriller. Purple Rain. Almost everyone can agree that these are incredible pieces of art. And I believe it’s completely reasonable to include Abbey Road on that list. It’s a bit intimidating and challenging to speak about an album like this. Simply because what else is there for me to say? Any “original” thought I might have has probably already been spoken about before. And no opinion of mine is going to change the level this has reached. I think the easiest way for me to digest this is to take it on a song by song basis, which I rarely ever do, but for once I feel confident in being able to say something different about each song. Come Together has one of the best drum fills and best bass parts that Ringo and Paul ever wrote respectively, and is gloriously catchy. Something is probably George’s best song he ever made for the band. Frank Sinatra called it the greatest love song of the last 50 years when it came out. He didn’t even like The Beatles. 55 years later, I’m inclined to agree with him. It’s still one of the greatest love songs ever made. Hearing that metal clank on Maxwell’s Silver Hammer was a delightful surprise. Reminded me of how Electric Light Orchestra hit a fire hydrant for Mr. Blue Sky. Oh! Darling started off nice, but hearing Paul start singing with this growl in his voice made the song way more interesting. It works as a really good highlight of his vocal range and styles. Octopus’s Garden is one of the few songs written and sang by Ringo, and while I enjoy Yellow Submarine, Ringo’s songs are always a little silly, and this one is honestly better. I Want You (She’s So Heavy) has been my favorite song from the band before I even really liked their music. John’s writhing vocal delivery genuinely feels like a love you can’t get your hands on. I don’t care if the lyrics are too simple, because the way they come out makes up for it. It’s a legitimately heavy and bluesy song, and I fucking live for it. Here Comes the Sun might be the greatest pop song ever written, and is also in the conversation for George’s best song. No song expresses joy and happiness like that one does, and it will continue to be endlessly played in the summer, rightfully so. The vocal harmonies on Because are incredible, and learning that they were triple tracked to create nine individual voices singing at once is pure genius. The rest of the record is devoted to “The Long One”. An 8-track, 16 minute long medley of short songs. Golden Slumbers and The End are my favorites by far, but I like how simple and fun the stretch from Mean Mr Mustard to She Came In Through the Bathroom Window is. You Never Give Me Your Money is supposedly about Allen Klein, but I can’t verify the validity of this. I like the piano in the beginning though. Sun King has more triple tracked vocals, and Carry That Weight even features all four members singing. Her Majesty is a weird one, but it doesn’t affect the overall listening experience in any way. This is an enormous amount of nothing to write about one album. I didn’t even want to like this as much as I did. But I can’t sit around and pretend like this magnum opus wasn’t the absolute strongest way the biggest band to ever exist could ever go out. I know Let It Be came out after this, but I don’t care. This is the last Beatles album, and what a way to end it off. Rating: 10/10!

One of the very best Albums ever, it is a masterpiece. Some of the most amazing songs. The Beatles are The GOATS.

Perfect

Almost perfect album, always a good listen. Can’t believe I ever hated The Beatles.

best of the best

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!!

It was and it is still a number 1

I won't dispute its classic greatness. But it's not something I'd want to listen to as much as a Captain Beefheart or NIN record for example. It's too catchy for its own good. I still prefer Nilsson.

Legendarisch album, veel goede en mooie nummers

It’s like listening to 5 or 6 different albums in one. So hard to even comprehend how good it is! 5.0

Classic. What else is there to say?

Abbey Road is undeniably a hit. Aside from the obvious quality of the musical talent, the pace set by the order of the track listings kept me engaged from start to finish (which isn’t always easy when listening to whole albums)

Ok I'm old, that doesn't mean I'm a Beatles fan, thats your grandparents. my music was 80's. That being said this album is stunning. Totally blown away. Never listened to this as a complete body of work, if my dad was still with us I think I'd owe him an apology, perhaps the Beatles were all you said they were.

Total classic, it still stands as an amazing album. There's no more to say than 5/5.

I don't even need to listen to this album. This is by far one of my favorites The Beatles albums and one of my favorites ever. Every song on this is a masterpiece. The way they close out the album with the medley and in the end. so good.

I mean..it's Abbey Road! It's such a classic, but it was interesting to really listen to each song after the next. I have to give it a 5.

Amazing album and an amazing band. One of the best albums of all time.

Such a weird album, really, veering from rock to blues to whimsy to medley. And not even close to my favourite Beatles album. But never less than astonishing.

christina sang every word

The Beatles = one of my fav group ever. This album is a monument of music and has almost only bangers Come together : 10/10 Something : 9/10 Maxwell's silver hammer : 8/10 Oh! Darling: 9/10 Octopus Garden: 10/10 what an incredible song with fantastic lyrics I want you : 10/10 Here comes the sun: 10/10 how not to be amazed listening to this Because : 8/10 You never give me your money : 7/10 Sun King : 8/10 Mean Mr. Mustard : 8/10 Polythene pam : 8/10 She came in through the bathroom window : 7/10 Golden slumbers : 7.5/10 Carry that weight : 10/10 amazing transition The end : 8/10 great ending of the album Her majesty : N/A 5* easy

Classic

A classic for a reason. Oh! Darling was my favorite. And Come Together, feels like the the prototype for Red Hot Chili Peppers song. Alot of freeform words and vibes.

I mean this is a classic. Lots of bops. I knew more songs than I thought i would.

I’ve listened to this one a ton! Total classic that no one should miss!

I’m a Beatles fanatic from way back. I grew up in the 60’s and bought this album when it first came out. In my opinion, this was one of their best albums.

Awesome! One of the best ever albums.

Absolutely iconic album. Easily one of the best of all time. One listen and you know why. 90%of the songs are legendary and even the goofball fillers are fun and interesting. Features my favorite song about murdering a judge.

This is a tough album to rate. Part of me thinks I should give all Beatles albums on this list five stars because they invented modern pop music (or stole it from American R&B and country and brought it to white middle class teenagers like Prometheus bringing fire to mankind). But I think Abbey Road has some problems. I hate “Come Together” and don’t like “Something.” “Oh! Darling” is good but a bit much on the Little Richard impersonation. “Octopus’s Garden” is a Ringo song 😒. But starting with “I Want You (She’s so heavy)” it’s essentially perfect. Ridiculously, insanely perfect. “Oh that magic feeling, nowhere to go” wrecks me every time I hear it. Even “Golden Slumbers” isn’t too treacly when it comes after the long suite of songs blending together that precedes it. Then capped off by the weird and wonderful 23 seconds of “Her Majesty.” Fuck it, five stars.

Mmm no es mi favorito de los Beatles. Temas como "Come together" o "Here comes the sun" son imprescindibles. Entre mis favoritas "Octopus garden" de Ringo y "You never give me your money".

Not my favorite Beatles album, but it's still a Beatles album and is fantastic.

It seems a little ridiculous to give the first of 1001 albums a perfect score, but if this isn’t a 5 what is? Not a truly bad song in the bunch. The worst songs on her would be at least above average on most others. Here Comes the Sun and I Want You are tops. I immediately started it again after the last track ended.

It’s perfect. One of the best pieces of art ever made.

I think this might be my favorite Beatles, maybe just in front of Revolver. I Want You (She's So Heavy) is pretty much a Black Sabbath song, probably a good example of one of the first early metal songs. I love the medley on the second half. I think it's funny because it's pretty much Paul being like "look at how great a songwriter I am" - most of the medley is this super tightly written piece, you can tell that Paul is going to continue to have an amazing career post-Beatles, and BAM the two Lennon songs in the medley are probably the coolest songs in it. I think this is kind of the vibe for their entire writing partnership.

amazing of course

Like I have anything new to say about Abbey Road.

Got to get a belly full of wine/10 The medley - that is all

The Beatles are like the jock who peaked in high school and spends the rest of his life basking in the glory of "I used to be a big deal." Abbey Road isn't the best album of 1969. Heck, it wouldn't even make my top 10 for that year, but it's got some catchy tunes and does contain my fave Beatles song. Five begrudging stars.

I’m mean, it’s Abbey Road

Arguably their best album.

A Come Together 4 Something 5 Maxwell's Silver Hammer 5 Oh! Darling 4 Octopus's Garden 5 I Want You (She's So Heavy) 5 Here Comes the Sun 4 Because 5 You Never Give Me Your Money 5 Sun King 4 Mean Mr. Mustard 3 Polythene Pam 4 She Came In Through the Bathroom Window 4 Golden Slumbers 5 Carry That Weight 4 The End 5 One of the greatest send-offs in musical history, capped perfectly with the meaningfully titled "The End."

This album is certainly one of my favourite albums by this great band. The first tracks with the grandiose opener Come Together in particular set the mood for a joyride that goes up and down, louder and quieter. The Beatles showed what a versatile band they were.

I mean, yeah.

favourite song: i want you (shes so heavy) i mean what is there even to say. obviously a 5/5, love every song on here.

The most fabulous album ever!!!

Side 2 is a masterpiece. Side 1 is almost as good which is saying something because they have that cute and cheeky little song about a dude beating a bunch of people to death on it (Octopus’ Garden obv)

A masterpiece.

This album is perfect.

Fantastic album back to front.

Pas mon préféré des Beatles, le medley final a toujours ressemblé à un destockage avant fermeture définitive mais quel destockage... L'enchainement "I want you (she's so heavy)" avec "Here comes the sun" restera un des plus beaux que je connaisse.

God I despise Octopus's Garden

Abbey Road has this subtle mellowness and melancholia that can't be missed once you've noticed it. And knowing the context of this album makes it all the more beautiful. The band members were at their breaking point, all of them composing solo material and avoiding having to collaborate (especially between John and Paul). It was Paul who suggested they record an album that returned to their old Beatlesque ways: engaging song structure and melodies, breathtaking harmonies, and creativity that pushed the boundaries of rock and mainstream music. (I imagine all four members knew, in the back of their minds, that this would be the final album they ever recorded together.) The production is not to be overlooked either; it rivals Pet Sounds and Sgt Pepper with its fresh, clean audio that makes for an incredible with-headphones experience. The result? A collection of rock classics that have easily stood the test of time and include some of music's most beloved tracks. Come Together. Here Comes The Sun. Something. Because. Octopus's Garden. Oh! Darling. I Want You (She's So Heavy). The Abbey Road Medley. (And, just like that, I've covered every track except for Maxwell's Silver Hammer, which some people consider a dud but I definitely don't. It's a banger.) Within the medley are killer moments such as the multifaceted You Never Give Me Your Money, the beautiful serenity of Sun King, the energetic and fun-packed transition between Polythene Pam and She Came In Through The Bathroom Window... and, of course, the iconic finale of Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End. What a brilliant way to end the career of the greatest band of all time.

Already listened to it, one of the greatest of all time.

Favorite Song(s): Something, Come Together, Octopus's Garden Least Favorite Song(s): Mean Mr Mustard Overall Rating (1-10): 9.6/10

They're just excellent. Great songwriting and two exceptional vocalists.

Classic album in my eyes. I love the way the boys seem to cooperate so effortlessly. Most of the album is Lennon and McCartney providing their songwriting genius to the table, but occasionally Ringo and George write good songs, too. This is a prime example of late Beatles gold. 5/5 Favorite track: “Because” or “Oh! Darling” Least Favorite: I have none.

Probably the best Beatles album

A classic - again, classics aren't my fav but I'll always jam to the Beatles

Very familiar with this one. Everything is still where it should be. Like walking into that perfect version of your childhood bedroom, untouched by time, that only exists in your mind's eye.

Prachtig.

Been waiting over a hundred albums for this lot to appear. Worth the wait for my favourite Beatles album (I think!?🤔). Going to be tough to write up this review as I don’t think I’m eloquent enough to describe it. It’s a straight 5. Nothing comes close from that era. The song writing. The variety of song styles. The richness of the guitar work. The way the B side just flows from one song to the next. All time classic songs. Just incredible and a regular ‘Go To’ album throughout my adult life. If I have to find a negative, then it’s Maxwell’s Silver Hammer, which isn’t very good but I’ll forgive and forget.

Fantastic album. I particularly like the creative writing throughout many songs. Favorite Tracks: Here Comes The Sun, Octopus's Garden, You're Gonna Carry That Weight

# 127 : What can I say - it’s the Beatles and… critics today view the album as one of the Beatles' best and rank it as one of the greatest albums of all time. Also, The album's cover, has become one of the most famous and imitated in the history of recorded music. Favourite Track : Oh! Darling Listened : 08/12/2023

It's The Beatles. What more do I need to say?

Gear: Fostex TH-610 (Lawton) / LETSHUOER S12 Pro Mische (2009 Remaster): Referenz. Mugge: Vielfältiger Klassiker mit überwältigender Persönlichkeit, Humor und Genialität (Lennon`s quasi Doom-Metal Nummer "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" größte Überraschung!) Wertung: 5/5

What can I say that hasn't already been said? I'm sure any of these things were bound to have been mentioned. It's probably the best first side of ANY album. Knowing the history of the Beatles and how they evolved from their first single "Love Me Do" to.... this. In a way they reflected the turmoil and change of the 60s as their music became more polished. George, originally solidly in the Second Banana role with the guitar at the start, became their most matured songwriter by this album, and contributed 2 absolute gems with Something and Here Comes the Sun. Seeing the clips from the "Get Back" Documentary of Ringo and George "working on a new idea", gives Octopus's Garden a new dimension for a song I've always liked. And then there are Lennon and McCartney's contributions. Come Together and Oh! Darling are just absolute bangers. I Want You (She's So Heavy) is such an epic hook and jam. Maxwell's Silver Hammer and You Never Give Me Your Money are good, though not as strong as Oh! Darling. Then there's the Medley - a weaving journey of the final contributions of Lennon and McCartney. All of them singing on Carry That Weight, and Ringo's great drum solo in The End. Favorites by contributor: Lennon: Come Together McCartney: Oh! Darling George: Ok - both Something and Here Comes the Sun (how can you not?) Ringo: Octopus's Garden (obvs)

My favorite of all The Beatles albums.

One of a series of classics where the worst song on the album is called "Come Together"! This one redeems itself almost immediately with "Something" and keeps the high quality going until The End. A few Beatles albums in so far, what's to say apart from marvel in their diverse excellence. You forget how good they were [minor edits for context, and also to praise that medley, goddam!]

Having just listened to Abbey Road for the first time I can finally realise why it often tops charts such as this. Unfortunately the first half of the album is track after track of musical perfection marred by Paul’s whimsical murder ditty sat in the middle like a smear of shit on the roof of the Sistine Chapel. Still, great album.

this album fits like a cool relaxed pair of pants, some of my faves

Perfect album. The medley at the end is my favorite

Awesome

What a great album!

Classic

I've heard it said once that the Beatles are best in the morning. I can get behind that opinion. For Abbey Road, however, try listening late in the evening with a good pair of headphones and the drink of your choice. This one is easily rated high in my book, but why? To simply say, "Well, it's the Beatles. Of course" is not a good enough answer. To avoid lazy cop-outs or make eyes roll, I'll attempt a better response. Abbey Road is all at once chill, smooth, biting, emotional, experimental, and fun without a dull moment and nothing feeling out of place. It really feels like a sequel to Sgt. Pepper's and builds on the quirkiness of the White Album to great effect. A lot of small details pop out in this recent listen such as little rhythmic things from the drum and vocal work, how much the keys and eclectic elements create and complete the symphonic atmosphere, how well each song on side Bs suite fit together thematically with it's various leitmotifs and overall seems to borrow a bit from side A. The guitar work is also very tasteful and every song on the album flows very well together. Abbey Road also contains possibly the greatest love song ever written in 'Something' with it's simplistic yet honest lyrics and music which seems to float along but feels deceptively complex. And 'Here Comes The Sun' could be the greatest pop song ever written, with its infectious chorus while even jumping between different time signatures. I've also always been struck by more of the odd stuff such as 'Because' and 'Sun King'. Perhaps it's an age thing.

I haven't listened to this for ages. It's wonderful!

This shit slaps.

I mean it’s the Beatles and it’s abbey road

Two Beatles albums this week? I’m all about that. I’m going to listen to my vinyl of this instead of listening from my phone. Abbey Road is probably the most recognizable album of The Beatles and my second favorite. Another case of if you rate this less than 5/5, you’re wrong.

Iconic cover, iconic tunes. I had never listened to it straight through before or read about the making of it. The final medley is perfect, yet I had Octopus's Garden stuck in my head for a day after.

4.5 stars, rounding up because I was pleasantly surprised I've been wanting to listen to a Beatles album for a long time, I've just been too unsure where to start so I never have. Until today! So funnily enough I ended up starting with one of their last albums. I really liked this, and will definitely listen to it again in the future. My favourites are Something, Maxwell's Silver Hammer and I Want You.

Amazing album by an amazing band. It's The Beatles...come on.

Það er ekki oft sem ég set plötu dagsins strax aftur í gang eftir að henni lýkur. Geri það í þetta skiptið. Fullkomin plata. Allur tilfinningaskalinn. Elska hreinlega allt við hana.

Masterpiece

I mean, come on.

What can I say that hasn't been said. Best album ever!

Yeah straight up 5. Hardly a wasted moment on this album.

Amazing, few songs are top all time, the others just a great listen, weird psychedelic beatle rock

While my answer may change depending on the day of the week, I’m willing to say that Abbey Road is my all time favorite album from my all time favorite band. Pure excellence

Easy 5 star one of my favorite of all time

5. A few songs aren't the best in my opinion but everything else makes up for it. Easily the best Beatles album

What else is there to say.

Now I can appreciate why this is a classic

Come on

I used to hate the Beatles. On principle, because I was a wannabe punk and it was controversial—perverse, even antisocial—to hate the Beatles. But what an absurdity. Everything just exactly where it should be in every song.

Hearing the hits on their own so often made it easy to forget how great this is altogether. You deserve a five star wedgie if you can’t give this one a fiver.

This week I fell in love with the Beatles. It could play on and on and on. Yes... Don't stop.

the hype makes sense. incredible to think this was made in 1969. come together something maxwell's silver hammer oh! darling octopus's garden i want you (she's so heavy) here comes the sun because you never give me your money mean mr mustard she came in through the bathroom window golden slumbers carry that weight the end

Im so surprised I love this album but it literally has everything the commercial pop hits you hear ad naseum, heartfelt songs, guitar riffs and good lyrics. I can finally understand the Beatles hype with this album.

Never properly listened to this album all the way through before. It is really a complete pleasure to listen to. Some great stuff.

A true classic.

Do I need to say anything? Anything below five stars should not be allowed

Classic album that I'm already very familiar with.

I mean. The spoiler part of me wants to revisit this album and find it has lost its luster but these songs are buried so deeply in my psyche it is impossible not to love it (except maybe the gleeful paean to a serial killer—that remains a little weird to me). The production flourishes are sublime. What I took away a fresh appreciation of is George’s compact, elegant guitar lines and the absolute perfection of Here Comes the Sun. Five out of Five, forever.

Dude, I've heard Abbey Road a million times. It's ingrained in the folds of my brain. Five stars.

Full of memorable classics. Holds up half a century later.

Top 3 Beatles albums. What is there to say, great album, some of the best Beatles songs, but also some more avearge songs towards the latter half of the album. Still a fantastic album Repeats: come together, something, here comes the sun Skips:

It's the Beatles not lunch else to say.

It's Abbey Road. iconic cover, some of the best songs ever, and a fabulous ending to the GOAT band.

Come Together: really like the pounding drums and bass line. Something: about the same as I remember. Maxwell's Silver Hammer: never heard before. Cool synths. Oh Darling: also never heard before. Really pushing romance song. Octopus's Garden: don't remember, but felt like a different genre with the background singers. I Want You: very different feel from Oh Darling. Actually similar to Santana's Black Magic Woman. Here Comes the Sun: never really paid attention to the violin track but I really like it. Really liking the line of all the other instruments. Because: still a weird song. You Neve Give Me Your Money: neat with the guitar effect being similar to bells. Not sure what the message is or who it's really for. Sun King: enjoyed the relaxed western feel. Not sure what the spanish is saying. Mean Mr Mustard: feels like a Sgt Pepper song. First of several short songs to finish the album. Polythene Pam: I like the mix of instruments. Realizing these short ones are really one long continuous one split into different parts. She Came in Through the Bathroom Window: different from the one I remember. Golden Slumbers: eh Carry That Weight: feels different from what I remember but I like the instrument breakdown The End: surprise drum solo was cool. I like the abrupt change for the bridge. Her Majesty: strange.

Such a varied interesting well constructed masterpeice.

Great from the first second. Undebatably 5 stars. (A bit weird around the middle tough.)

I know I said there wasn't much to say about Pet Sounds that hadn't already been said, but I genuinely don't know what to say about Abbey Road. It's The Beatles, likely the most iconic and influential band that has ever or will ever exist, at what is arguably their peak. Some people could go into a whole rant about how overrated The Beatles are, but I just can't. This album is a masterpiece by today's standards. Imagine how groundbreaking this was in 1969! The variance in tones and moods, the vocal harmonies between the band members, the writing, everything about this album is just phenomenal and very experimental for the time. The medley in the second half is mind-blowing at times when you think about the culture of the era. I can't really think of a song on here I don't like. Even something like Maxwell's Silver Hammer, as weird as it is, is still enjoyable for me. I think my favorite thing about this album is the finality of it all. You can feel that the band knew this would be the last album that they ever record. It adds this mood to the second half in particular that feels like the finale of a really good TV show or movie series. I haven't even listened to the other albums from before this, and yet, this feeling still shined through. It cannot be underestimated just how influential and amazing this album and band are. 5/5.

This was once my favorite Beatles album and, who knows, may be again someday. These days my favorite Beatles are on the knife edge between their bopping youth and experimental middle period, rich and stoned and sick of fame and the road but still entirely under Brian’s thumb. Still, this must be the world’s greatest swan song by the world’s greatest (studio) band by far.

I don’t want to hear people complaining about Maxwell’s Silver Hammer or Octopus’s Garden; the greatness of the Beatles is the headspace the songs map out in combination, and unrepentant childishness is essential to the blend. That’s main thing is that this album is not about selling persona or cool or a mood to meet the market. It’s just the celebration of music-making as a practice. The implicit text of music is always something something about love, mixed with all the other jumble in your head, and in some inarticulate way is about everything in your life, including the nonsense. Oh that magic feeling. Yup, they nailed it. Amen.

The Beatles. I’ve heard of them. Don’t often listen to their full albums, though. You know what I continually kept thinking on the full listen to this? “I really like the drums.” Throughout the whole thing they are just really punchy and tight. The whole album is tight. ‘Golden Slumbers’ and the transition to ‘Carry that weight’ is, by any measure, an epic passage of music. For any other band it would a defining pièce de résistance. But, in the context of The Beatles, it’s almost a footnote, a punctuation to sheer gravitational weight. And that’s just this album. Even their stupid songs, that shouldn’t work, because they’re stupid … well they are great too. OK I’ve been brought up on them … but so are my kids. Octopus’s Garden is the ultimate long term marketing strategy. Draw them in with under the sea nursery rhymes, seal the deal with the meandering bluesy bass odyssey of ‘I want you so bad’. Just the best.

The most iconic album of all time, do I have to elaborate? This thing blew my mind the first time I heard it. I was like 15 or something. Highschool. It was among the first albums that I've heard from start to finish. Introduced me to albums, to this band, and to good music in general. I would say that it changed my life, at least in terms the way I perceive music. And I'm pretty sure that's what happened to the music world too when it was released half a century ago.

Classic album

One of my all-time favorites EVER

Love it. 5/5

LOVE this album. I actually listened to it a few times the day it came up

I mean this is about as classic as it gets. Starts off with some incredible tracks that are all time greats. The instrumentation is incredible throughout. The bass is killer on the entire album. Oh Darling, Something, and Golden Slumbers are probably my favourite tracks that I didn't really listen to already. Not really a weak point on the album. I thought it was really interesting how the back half of the album is comprised of these really short but fun tracks that just flow together. I'll definitely come back. First time listening though.

Cultes

Onhan tämä hieno. Edelle menee omassa listassa Revolver ja Rubber Soul 5/5

Rubber Soulin vanavedessä parhaana / toiseksi parhaana Beatles-lättynä. Lopun medley tuntui tällä kertaa erityisen hyvältä.

jaahas sit se ois beatlesin paras levy

Not the beatles' best album. still 5 stars tho.

This is probably the only album besides ‘The Blueprint’ that I’d call perfect of the 200+ I’ve had so far. This is just perfect. It still feels fresh and amazing.

This has always been one of my favorite albums of all time. I can literally sing every line. Solid 5 in my book.

I just realized that MAXWELL'S SILVER HAMMER was a straight up murder song. There are just too many bangers (pun very well intended) to be any less than five stars for me.

There isn’t a song on the album I love. The first side is all incredibly famous songs, but aside from Come Together they feel somewhat kitschy to me. The B Side is why this album is a classic. The medley is sublime and Because is a good one. As an album it holds up, even if it’s not my favorite Beatles

The best of the best

Magnificent! Every good thing about this album has been said. There is nothing to add! Simply amazing!

There are two debates. One, is can an album with arguably two of the worst pop songs ever written get a give star rating? The other is, was it so hard to push Paul McCartney out of a window? Or will his chirpy boudacious blimpy cheeks expand, like a chipmunk's, into rosy great balloons which bounce him towards safety? Big questions. In short, Harrison's Something is phenomenal, I Want You is groundbreaking, Come Together era-defining, Because, groovey and excellent, Oh Darling, great - I just.... you never give me your money is Paul at his best and most British mid-century beige. I just... It's just utterly a loveable excellent album. Do I want to punish them for the octopus song? A bit. Do I want to cram Maxwell's silver hammer so far up McCartney's arse his next song is simply a mallet thudding like the clanking bells harkening me to eternal darkness? YES! It has to be five though, it has to be

Maybe the hardest band to listen to objectively, with fresh ears. I love this album. I think the band was still evolving right up to the end.

I mean come on

No nie.. :)) jak mam wystawiać same 5/5 to spoko..

The final recordings of The Beatles. I often forget how good this one is. The album gives a glimpse into what a Beatles of the 1970s might have sounded like. The song writing had, in many ways, matured but there's still a playfulness that comes through. The use of the Moog synthesizer stands out. The studio recording process is more transparent here than in previous albums, fitting for a band that had stopped performing live several years earlier. On the other hand, the schism between Lennon's and McCartney's styles seems to be growing here. The temporary truce helped them to make one last wonderful album but it's also clear that their short time together ran its course, much to the detriment of fans everywhere who didn't get to hear enough.

Come on. It’s Abbey flipping Road.

What can I say that hasn't been said already? A masterpiece of modern music, and pretty much explains all by itself why The Beatles became what they are today.

Only a couple songs I was less keen on, but the highs are soaring on this album.

Simply one of the best albums ever recorded

Who are The Beatles?

so many timeless hits, some of The Beatles' best. The latter half isnt quite as strong but its still pretty good.

The first album that finally got me into the Beatles, a timeless classic. Something will be one of my all time favorite songs. Peak hippy college phase listening, 10/10

I adore this album. It’s like a member of my family (except that I like spending time with it). Its familiarity never reduces my enjoyment. Maxwell and Octopus are objectively shit songs but literally every other second of the album is magnificent. A fitting swansong - vastly better than Let It Be or the (IMHO) overrated White Album.

Great album. Need to listen more often

Have listened, will happily listen again. A masterpiece

Starting off with what will probably be the best album of the entire list.

so many things on the album are unique or rare; running songs together, the two ending songs, the way certain songs end, plus hits, and every Beatle has a strong prescence

this album is and deserves to stay at the top of highest rated albums. abbey road shows the beatles in their prime and deserves all its accolades. a double album worthy of its length. et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. this album will always remind me of my twin sister being obsessed with "octopus's garden" at about age seven! she'd play it on repeat on a boombox while playing on our swingset. despite my loyalty to george harrison (whose songs on this album are delightful), "i want you (she's so heavy)" remains my favorite on this album. the instrumental aspect is grandiose! can't get enough of it.

What can be said about this album that hasn't been said time and time before? It is one of the best albums of all time, and for good reason. Considering this album sits at the end of The Beatles' group career, it does a really good job of encapsulating their various musical styles from across their career. Some things here are zany, some are dreamy, and some are just pure rock anthems or ballads. But as The Beatles tended to do, each member took turns leading the songs on the album. But each member had grown in such different directions by this point, so the final product are a variety of songs that are all completely different and stylistically unique. And yet, the songs are all still genius because these guys were still geniuses, despite growing apart; they were individually genius. Harrison, McCartney, and Lennon all have some of their best songs ever featured on this album in the forms of "Here Comes the Sun", "Oh! Darling", and "Come Together", respectively. The Beatles, as a group, pushed themselves onward further into greatness until the very end. Every single song on this album is well known, or at the very least, well regarded for its place in and contributions to music. To be able to say that not only an album, but every song on said album, has influenced music, is quite a feat. I am by no means a huge Beatles fan, but I can admit the quality and impact of this album, without any doubt. Every song, down to every vocal, every lyric, every note, is TIGHT here. A masterful achievement in music.

Come Together- 5/5 Something- 5/5 Maxwell's Silver Hammer- 5/5 Oh! Darling- 5/5 Octopus's Garden- 5/5 I Want You (She's So Heavy)- 5/5 Here Comes the Sun- 5/5 Because- 5/5 You Never Give Me Your Money- 5/5 Sun King- 5/5 Mean Mr. Mustard- 5/5 Polythene Pam- 5/5 She Came In Through the Bathroom Window- 5/5 Golden Slumbers- 5/5 Carry That Weight- 5/5 The End- 5/5 Her Majesty- 5/5 Total- 5/5

The penultimate album. One of the best albums ever produced. And in my personal top 5 favorites.

Fabulous

Liverpool’s answer to The Inspiral Carpets doing bits

Everton’s own 6 stars

I consider this to be the best Beatles album. Every song is at the least strong, some of them are beautiful, memorable. I have a fondness for "Revolver" but it's not as coherent or as mature as this record.

Beatles. Muchos megahits. Vinilo.

With “Come Together” as the opening tune / then transitioning to “Something” … what more can you say? Except it only continues to get better … no wonder it’s on every rankers’ list of top 5 Albums of all time … no disagreements here … a generational work of art …

Ápice do desenvolvimento do rock marcado pelos dois momentos iniciados perfeitamente com "Come Together" e "Here Comes the Sun"

One of my favs of all time

this is a foundational album for like 90% of music today. not much i can say other than that it holds up really well

absolute great album. its so good its almost scary! one of them few perfect albums

Incredible!

Classic

Como todos los discos de The Beatles, una maravilla. Disco en su madurez, con melodías muy pegadizas, buenas voces y acordes. Y con canciones que perdurarán en el tiempo

A classic, my third favorite Beatles album. And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make. Is that true? I like to think so.

This album has been in my rotation for my entire adult life. It's not my favorite Beatles album by any means. I think there are a bunch of duds on this album. But there are several classics and the album has a unique voice among Beatles albums. I Want You (She's So Heavy) is a revolutionary sound for them in my opinion. This uniqueness adds value that warrants a 5 star from me. Despite it's faults, this album is a must listen. The good vastly outweighs the bad here.

Really great album, different types of songs, will listen to it again.

Not too much to say here that hasn't already been said. It's a fantastic album throughout. There are a few weaker songs here and there, but I think they don't do too much to diminish the overall album.

kinda feel like a chump giving every Beatles album a 5 but sometimes you just gotta give it up for the boys

Possibly my favorite Beatles album. It had to grow on me though. I think some of that was the blending of songs on side two. Side anecdote: growing up, two of my three favorite Beatles songs were "Something" and "Here Comes the Sun", from this album. The other songs was "Norwegian Wood". I had no idea, at the time, that all were written by George, not John or Paul.

Each album of The Beatles I’ve listened to so far has left me very impressed. It seems like an obvious thing to say with them being of such a legendary status, but I tried listening to them in my teens and found them overrated. Listening to them with my older ears is completely different. Songs I already knew: Come Together, Something, Oh Darling, Octopus’s Garden, I Want You, Here Comes The Sun, You Never Give Me Your Money Favourites: Here Comes The Sun, You Never Hive Me Your Money I’ll say this from the start: I think this might be one of the best albums I’ve ever heard. The music here is incredible, with certain themes and licks that recur making it an album worth listening from front to back. The harmonies are incredible, especially in You Never Give Me Your Money. The music is fascinating and travels between genres frequently, making me want to actively listen to what is going on with the music. If you haven’t heard this, definitely give it a try. This is the best album I’ve heard in a good while.

It's fitting for the band to make their last record their best record. And yes, this IS the best Beatles record. I don't know if that's much of a hot take, but it just doesn't get much better than this. I could spend hours writing about each individual track and how they're all responsible for some dramatic shift into modern popular music, but the fact that they're all here, on this album together is just mind boggling. Come Together is the strongest opening track the band ever released. Sure it's overplayed and every boomer dad's "last good rock song", but come on. That bass line, those drums. Ringo was not a technically proficient drummer, but I don't think there was another drummer alive who would've thought of THAT for the intro to Come Together. Follow that up with Something...Something?! George's BEST contribution to the band ever, and one of the best love songs of all time? That's the ticket. The wall of sound at the end of She's So Heavy followed by a dramatic cut to nothing was so experimental and weird for a mainstream pop album, and could be argued as one of the driving forces that influenced heavy metal music. That's just something you don't get too much these days with popular releases. I've listened to that track a hundred times and still get caught off guard by that shift. Not to mention it goes into Here Comes The Sun (The Beatles' most popular track on Spotify). Let's talk about the suite. Can we talk about the suite please Mac?! You Never Give Me Your Money to The End is musical mastery. On their own, each of these songs is a masterpiece. The blending of them together just solidifies George Martin as the official "5th Beatle". Without going too much into the production of this album, I'll just say it's damn near perfect. Golden Slumbers into Carry That Weight is one of my personal favorite moments in music, period. I know there's been a lot of debate on whether Her Majesty should've been left off the album, but I love it. It's such a pleasant and strange epilogue not only to the record, but to The Beatles' entire career. I don't know if the "perfect record" exists out there, and of course everything is subjective, but this is always the one that comes to my mind when I think of perfection in music. It's not my favorite album of all time, but it is the one I can speak on the most and make the strongest case for being the GOAT. Its influence is heard in some capacity on virtually every album that's come since, whether you love or hate The Beatles.

Great classic album, bringing together all band members talents. Varied and delicious.

One of their best.

Well, shit. What is there to say? As far as I’m concerned every Beatles album is a must listen before you die album.

One of Greatest album.

Very enjoyable.

Well... another one of the greatest

Besta plata ársins 1969. Það er óskiljanlegt að George Harrison hafi ekki lengur viljað vera með Paul í hljómsveit í ljósi þess hversu fullkomið lag Something er. A hliðin er stórfengleg, Maxwell er meira að segja fínn. B hliðin er fullkomin.

5 0 skips, yes not even maxwell's, the medley on side 2 is probably the best 20 minutes of music ever. fave songs: i want you, you never give me your money, polythene pam, she came in through the bathroom window, golden slumbers, carry that weight, the end

I mean, come on, a top 3 Beatles record is an easy 5 out of 5 if not 6 out of 5
