Quintessential
Really enjoyed it. Haven’t listened to a lot of Led Zeppelin.
Damn. This must've been insane to listen to back in 1969 but even now it's clear where the sound of the '70s got it's start. Stand-out tracks for me: Good Times Bad Times, Your Time Is Gonna Come, Communication Breakdown, and How Many More Times. Great listen!
Some poddling bluesy tracks mixed with some really good rock tracks.
Led Zep is the best cover band that has ever existed. Is this a good album? I would say yes, but the fact that a lot of it is liberally taken from other artists with no credit leaves a bad taste in my ears.

Saw this and thought, I'm not in the mood for this album. How wrong was I. Loved the drumming. Hearing the emergence of the trademark Zep sound mingled with some blues was great.
I have a feeling that if I listened to this for the first time today I wouldn't be a big fan, but as it is my teenage self refuses to let me give this anything less than a 4.
A classic. More bluesy than I remembered but not a bad thing. I love Robert Plant’s voice. Organ on your time is gonna come…why so much organ in the late 60s/early 70s? It’s ok though. This album definitely has its moments.

I've had the discussion with friends on what is the best / most dramatic debut song by an artist in history. "Good Times, Bad Times" was on everyone's short list. But also...over the years I had kind of forgotten about this album - I'm very hit and miss on Zeppelin; so much overplay on radio from the 90s on turned me off to even their best for years, and I also don't care for some of their longer/more self-indulgent cuts (e.g. Kashmir no thanks; same with Dazed & Confused here). Zeppelin II->Houses has always been my sweet spot if and when I go back to them, but it started here and this debut is pretty damn great all things considered. ...even if you consider that half the tracks are literally ripped off from older blues artists. But still... Quite a few highlights aside from the kick-ass opening track: "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" just sounds really good with the contrast between acoustics and electric bombast, super heavy reverb... that grandiose and gorgeously huge organ intro to "Your Time Is Gonna Come" and the pure simple power of "Communication Breakdown" - both classics. Negatives: This will seem like too many negatives but the band was just finding themselves on this album - once they started writing more of their own material their diversity really shined. On the debut even when *sounding* great, it still drags in parts. "You Shook Me" is a plodding and dull ill-advised cover; "I Can't Quit You Baby" is similar, too often sloppy/ugly (i'm no fan of Jimmy Page solos - love his chord voicings/progressions but the blues solos are a hard pass from me); "Dazed And Confused" (despite being one of their more famous cuts) just drags too often (and ffs if you agree with that avoid their execrable live version which goes on for 3 weeks...). Hell, it is a very bluesy album which does occasionally sound repetitive by the end. Still though that's really nitpicking - this is a worthy and amazing debut overall and one which they'd refine to perfection just months (?!?!?) later on their near-perfect second album. 7/10 4 stars.
So far II and Physicaly Graffiti have gotten a 4 from me and I still have II and III to catch up on. Fave: Dazed and Confused

One of Led Zep’s great albums, with some outstanding classic tunes.
Very raw sounding, almost has a live quality to it. Production quality is low, but not in a bad way. You Shook Me has a lot of blues influences to it, clearly. More organ that I was expecting.
Did people straight up die when this came out?! The drums are so loud, the bass is on some other shit, and the guitar sounds like how lightning looks!

A classic, but I'm going to round it down to 4 stars. Excellent considering it's their first album and there are some familiar hits. However, the songs that weren't released as singles don't particularly stand out to me and it's more bluesy that their later albums with a lot of "oooh baby baby baby".

Zep is still refining its sound and covering songs here. However, an album that includes a song like “Baby I’m Gonna Leave You” could not be considered as bad. “Good Times, Bad Times” is one of the most rocking songs in history.

Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are 2 big exceptions to my "fuck off late 60s" vibe on this project. This album doesn't fly as high as their later stuff, they hadn't really let the cat fully out of the bag yet, but they don't have a bad album anyway. Everything is at least "pretty damn good". 4/5.

I bought Led Zeppelin IV first (of course) because I was already sort of familiar with several songs, especially the big one. Then I bought Led Zeppelin II and I remember being surprised at how much I liked the whole thing. It seemed unlikely at the time that I would like two albums, front to back, of the same band. Then I remember buying this one and thinking 'No one ever talks about this one, I don't know any of the songs. This is probably going to be terrible.' And then 'Good Times, Bad Times' started up and I loved it again. I figured the blues-hippie-Tolkien -ock thing would burn off at some point, right? But it seems like these guys just had endless riffs and melodies to mine. I still think this is a great album.
These guys certainly knew how to filch from the best, I'll give them that!
Well, it ain't my favorite Zeppelin album but it was honestly a little refreshing to listen to the band and NOT hear a song off of Zep IV, so there's something to be said for that. And while not every song here shakes the foundations... Jesus Christ, boys: I cannot for the life of me imagine what hearing "Dazed and Confused" in 1969 must have been like. For real, can you imagine hearing that on the radio when a mere decade earlier something like that song was just completely unthinkable? Bobby Darin was in the top 5 in 1959. *Bobby Darin*... I can't do nothin' but 4 stars, and that's only because I know they best it later.

Pretty awesome record. Pretty much every song on here is beautiful in some way, and Plant’s vocals have a lot of passion which makes it all even batter. 7/10

Some bands on this list get the added benefit of nostalgia but some get a handicap. I loved Led Zeppelin as a kid, long after their heyday, I was listening to them in the late 90s. I idolized them and thought they were geniuses for the music they created. Years later you hear the stories, you hear the similarities in their music to older blues songs and things, then all of a sudden you hear the music a little differently. Each member was an all-star at their instrument and they were at the right place at the right time, but they were walking the line between flattery and stealing very closely. That line is ambiguous at best, one guitar player can play a lick and it sounds like they're paying homage to the players that came before them, then another can play the same riff and it seems fraudulent, I can't really explain it but I guess it has to do with their intention and I don't know how you can know what that is for sure. On another note, It's not advised to judge the past by today's standards, but some of the debauchery involving underage girls they were known for is gross to me now too. I know it was the 70s or whatever but still hard to look away from that. If you want to live in blissful ignorance, don't meet your idols and don't read their Wikipedias.

So this is where it started then? Fabulous, unique. However, I still have a preference for the bluesy slide of tracks like 'I can't quit you baby' - but judging by the Spotify Plays - i'm in a minority!
Re-listening for the generator: good stuff here. May have overrated Zep’s beginning in the past or it may be my headphones, but it’s still a 4/5 for the purposes of the 1001 ratings. Good times, good times. 8/10
All Zep had to do was fucking give credit where credit was fucking due! Some folk singer named Anne Bredon whom no one has ever heard of getting partial songwriting credit for the second track wouldn't have detracted from Page's arrangement, his playing, or Plant's wailing. Must've been an ego thing, which doesn't make sense, considering how excellent the band is. Adaptation is its own form of artistry, ya cunts!
The start of something very special.
I don't know if I've ever heard an album that's all bangers and no hits before this one. I loved every track but none of them were legit hits. The album was soaked in that sick vibe that you know and love from Zepp but not a single track had any of the monster hooks that you associate with the band. Still a super enjoyable listen, though.

I've never really gotten into Led Zeppelin although I do appreciate their fusion of blues, hard rock and psychedelia. They made a sound that was not so much of their own but far better than their contemporaries. There are some epic songs on here which far out weighs the selections on here that are purely masturbatory

zep was kinda overplayed by the time i came to hear them on my own. by the time i was working in kitchens, i was getting tired of them...and by the time i was done working in kitchens, i was pretty much done with them. (and aerosmith, for that matter, but that's another review.) that said...man, as a debut - as your first time hearing of these new kids from engerland, the opening seconds of the opening track of their first album (which was also their first single) really set the stage. there's that hard attack of page's guitar, jones' intertwining bassline, plant's vocals, whose style really never wavered, and of course bonham's stumbling over the kick drum's pedals that make you think you must've heard wrong...only you haven't, and that's really how he can play those things, and who IS this guy? i'm sure i've mentioned elsewhere i don't love them - overplayed, as i say, and the fan club by the late 80s was made up of...well, let's just say we were mutually exclusive. but this album, while i still don't love it, really says a lot about where they were going later on. plus, you know, bonham. jeezus, that guy.

Some absolute classics, but also some songs that I didn't overly care for. Still a great album, though.
Not much for me to say about this album that hasn't already been said honestly. It's Zepplin man. Good times bad times is a fantastic opener into an album that really does cover situations that show that in action. From I can't quit you baby to babe I'm on gonna leave you. It's a good album and one I think is absolutely working taking the time out of your day to listen to.

Lots of classic songs on this album. It is a very solid first album from Led Zeppelin. I am not sure I had heard this full album from start to finish previously, but it is a great album.
Zep's first album is kind of an oddity in their discography - it's a blues album with rock elements, rather than the other way around. "Good Times Bad Times" and "Communication Breakdown" are classics, but the pacing is kinda off - the first side drags a bit with lengthy downtempo songs, especially when "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" really feels its length. It's refreshing when "Dazed and Confused" finally picks up the pace, and the second side in general is more consistent. Still a crazy good debut, but they have a half-dozen better LPs.

An absolute classic
An exciting blend of Rock, Blues, and Folk Music. Each song stands alone as a solitary work of art on it's own but each contributes to the overall emotion and flow of the album. Still not my go to for music but won't deny it's place and influential nature and I very much appreciate and respect Led Zeppelin.

The original Led Zepplin album. Can't say I ever consciously listened to it, so this might be interesting. First song immediately has that very 60s "texture" you often hear in the Beatles as well. I can't quite put my finger on what it is. Lots of widdly widdly.

4/5, fun album, but not quite as awesome as I remebered. Maybe its their influence on the genre, but it felt like so many other blues/rock bands that Ive heard before. Still, every song is solid and theres a lot of fun parts (dueling vocals and guitars etc). Obviously classics like Dazed and Confused

Reminds me of buying up all the LZ albums from the CD store by the theater near Pembroke at the beginning of high school. I'm also now realizing my dad tried to connect with me on music, but dang, we just have different tastes. Not much else to say about this though; I suspect this will be one of the more previously listened to albums on this generator.
Not an album or a band I would listen to on the regs but clearly hugely influential on a lot of the music I do listen to. They are the Beatles of harder rock music genres. Jimmy Page's production techniques also highly innovative. 8.5/10

Bands like this are a main reason for doing this. One of the most influential bands ever but I’ve barely listened to them. First time I listened to it I wasn’t sure, but over the weekend I got stuck more into it.
This is the first band I ever fell in live with. I remember being on family vacation, listening to it on a disc-man, laying in the grass, eyes closed, mind blown. I didn’t know about sex or Robert Johnson yet, but as time went by my appreciation for this album matured. It has a place in my still adolescent heart.
Not their best, but can’t argue with this for a debut album.

I was a big Zeppelin fan in high school, not as much as I used to be but I still like them a lot. A noble debut, with 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You' and 'Communication Breakdown' standing out. Listening to this you really see how they influenced 70s rock music.

I think Ameen's hatred of Led Zeppelin's poisoned me. Even then It's still a good album, you can see how so many other bands were inspired by them. The instrumentals are super impressive and super catchy.

Good Times Bad Times is one of the greatest album openers ever written. What a record. The fact I like at least 2 other Zeppelin records more than this one means I can only give it a 4. It’s a victim of the grading scale.

Great production, though without listening to other versions of the LP I can't say how much is a good remaster and how much is due to particular recording techniques. Feels tight somehow despite half the songs being longer than five minutes. Feels like a pretty high point of the blues rock style which tends to underwhelm me. And I understand there are three more similar projects.

Die Band schleudert Blues‑Riffs und Hard‑Rock‑Energie in die Welt, oft beeindruckend, manchmal noch suchend. „Good Times Bad Times“ knallt, „Dazed and Confused“ brodelt, doch nicht jeder Moment trägt die gleiche Wucht. Das Debüt zeigt enormes Potenzial, aber noch nicht die spätere Größe.
Quand même fun quand tu t'imagines être sous acide. Les guitares acoustiques sont vraiment cool. Et quand t'es en crise et que tu t'imagines faire la batterie, toujours sous acide lol, ça aide à apprécier.

This wasn't as good as I remember. I much prefer the less overtly blusey version of Zeppelin which came later. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is an all timer though. Best thing on this album by a mile.

The Zep just doesn't connect with me, which is weird cause I love some facemelting rock. Idk, I just can't shake the song stealing stuff, and maybe it's just SO rock that it's somehow too vanilla? Crazy to say but thats how I feel at least for now. Can't deny it's a great album though.

Led Zeppelin is cool. You know, they take the structure of blues music, add distortion, a bit of speed and the shrieking vocals of Bob Plant. It's nice and all, but I suggest you cut the middle man and go to the original electric bluesmen from the 60s. You will thank me later.

A strong record with considerable strengths and shortcomings that Led Zeppelin largely overcame over its next few records. Without Grade A original material, too many songs seem like they are just a vehicle to show off Jimmy Page. Theremin and violin bow solo on “Dazed and Confused”; Albert King and Otis Rush skills on “I Can’t Quit You, Baby” and “You Shook Me.” The prerequisite nod to Indian music in “Black Mountain Side.” Editing and better integration into the song would have to wait until future efforts. The ponderous nature of Led Zeppelin kept peeking out on the first side. After the spirited opener, “Good Times, Bad Times”, three long tracks follow. I enjoy the acoustic gallop of “Babe, I’m Gonna Leave You”, a skill that future metal bands could not match. Unfortunately, “You Shook Me” and “Dazed and Confused” test patience. I certainly love the doom of “Dazed”, which certainly must have made an impression on Black Sabbath, but there is not enough variety to boost these two songs nor the closing tracks on side two. The opening three songs on the second side have less Zeppelin quality but are the strongest parts of the debut. “Your Time Is Gonna Come” makes a real attempt at a song with its stately organ intro and bright drum work. I was not knocking “Black Mountain Side”, the "Embryonic Journey” of the record. I wish Zeppelin recorded more songs like “Communication Breakdown.” An absolute buzzsaw that foreshadows Motorhead and The Ramones. It still has a spot for Page to step into the spotlight, but he keeps its brief with a burst of notes before returning to the song. My complaints outnumber my praise here, which is unfair. Every song has great moments with each member displaying the magic that would turn Led Zeppelin into a great band. At this moment they got a contract before they had the material to make a record. They needed time (a whopping six months or so) before they harnessed their abilities.
I like LZ more when they start incorporating more styles around III but I found myself more in tune with the extremely loud guitar and drum production on this this time. There are still too many instances of Robert Plant moaning bluesily.
A little ominous to discover that at #923, this is only the third of five Led Zeppelin albums in the collection, so I suspect there's a lot of Page, Plant and friends in the near future. And given our surfeit of fairy rock riches (thankfully largely absent in this album), I kind of question including their debut album in this project, except perhaps for completeness' sake or part of the evolution of "heavy" rock? Unlike albums "IV" and "II", this one's pretty light on timeless/classic Zeppelin fare (aside from the eternal and fantastic "Good times bad times"), I suspect largely because nearly half of the songs aren't theirs, but I enjoyed "Your time is gonna come" and their classic "Communication breakdown" more than the rest, as well as Bonham's fantastic drumming throughout (especially on end track "How many more times"). I'm also impressed to read about how technically proficient Jimmy Page was, both guitar- and recording/production-wise, even this early in his career; also interesting to read that this album was largely panned when it was first released, and only achieved greatest-album status after a few decades. To be honest, I'm kind of inclined to agree with the contemporary reviews, and regardless, this is definitely before Zeppelin found their groove.
Love Zeppelin but also, sometimes, don't like Zeppelin very much at all. It's complicated. I've always considered the first fifteen seconds of this album my favorite fifteen seconds of Led Zeppelin. I reserve the right to change this opinion. This album is fine to listen to but I never find myself eager to return. There's so much music out there, man, some of it directly ripping this off. But, still, I'd rather listen to many other things. I have to be in a very specific mood for this, and as I age that mood comes less and less. Rambling today, in honor of "Ramble On" which does not appear on this record.

I think I’m going to prefer later LZ albums as I didn’t love the over-the-top 12-bar blues songs. Clearly a super talented and influential band defining what rock music means. I just prefer them a bit more psychedelic/progessive. Dazed and Confused ✅

Uhh its kinda a middle of the road Zeppelin record for me. And for the 5th time im not a huge Zeppelin guy. Don't hate em but not in love either. This one has i think the least amount of big songs. Nothing really caught my ear much but I will give it the passionate performances. Every song feels like it could be thier last and they put it all on the table. I respect that alot . Solid bluesy sound is a nice touch. Im just not huge on the songs overall. They are fine but nothing more than fine. Even 24 hours later im having a hard time remembering what was here. Dazed and confused I gues I know that one but it took some doing to pull it back. Well its still decent. There are things to like and other things that just wash over me without any punch. Its ok

A decent listen but also not their best work. Some of it was actually kind of blues-y? And more than once the song was just Robert Plant making the same sound the guitar was making back and forth as if you were to keep meowing back and forth at your cat.

After listening to so much shit on this list of 1001 albums, I appreciate Led Zeppelin a lot more now than I have for the past 20 years. This album though only has a couple songs that really offer anything unique, but you can definitely tell they were on the cusp of something huge.

No one told me this is more of a blues album than classic rock. But I’m not complaining, I prefer that anyway. Great tunes played very well, but nothing really rises up to match the cover art.
Pretty good, but there are better Zeppelin records. I can do without the tracks "You Shook Me" and "I Can't Quit You Baby." UPDATE: After listening to Physical Graffiti, I am putting this one down to a 3.
this is not the best LZ. its very much a black blues record. thats fine, but it doesnt stand out to me. they get a little more wild and idiosyncratic later on. kinda tepid. still a fine listen.
Really really cool debut album for them. You can hear how vivid their vision is and how it got fleshed out into their hits that followed. Cool blend of instruments all throughout and even a tabla appearance. Vocals are iconic. Similar to the Neil Young album, with older albums it's hard to tell if my criticisms are proper criticisms of the music or if they are only possible bc of retroactive context that didn't apply at the time of release. Regardless, there were fun riffs but extended stretches where I found myself bored. I could not call any part of this uninspired though.

Obviously the guitar solos are amazing. Some of the slower songs have kinda whiny vocals. The organ and harmonica solos in You Shook Me are very cool. Some songs, like Dazed and Confused as well as How Many More Times, are a bit much for me. Overall fun to listen to.

Rock parts feel kind of stock... Blues parts are awesome. Weirdly, I found the least popular songs (more bluesy than rock?) to be the best: You Shook Me and Your Time is Gonna Come.
I used to really like this album, but on this listen it didn't make anywhere near as much impact as I remember. I did like the blending of styles and think it creates something bigger than the sum of its parts, but still left me feeling a bit underwhelmed.

It’s always interesting listening to the debut album of a band. Sometimes their nail their sound from the start, but other times it’s more illustrative; like an early but incomplete draft. This is a great album, but not at the heights of III or IV. Still had that fusion of sounds, amazing vocals, and Jimmy page and Robert plant. But it’s not fully into the hard rock yet still has a little more jazz in it. I like it, but it’s like seeing a prom photo of a partner you met in your 30s.
Good feels like the end point of a way of making music that was less techno heavy basic instruments effects but after this it was synths, lots of effects and noodling.
I enjoyed this one but I think i’d have to be in a very specific mood to listen to it, not my usual type of music. TOP songs: Babe I’m Gonna Leave You, Dazed and Confused, I Can’t Quit You Baby

12 year old me would have checked 5 stars for every zeppelin album on the list. Listening to this now and there are definitely some really good songs but they just don't have the same mystique that they had for me as a teenager. Solid album but not an all time great.

like most of their work, Led Zeppelin's first is a lot more enjoyable to me now than it was when I was in high school. it does fall into that category of bobo ass white blues a lot of the time, though. that said: Babe I'm Gonna Leave You goes. deserves to be one of the 1001? nuclear take: Zep just need this and IV. the others are superfluous

good album, won't probably listen to it again
I enjoyed it. I like this better than some of their other albums because it doesn't sound like it was recorded inside a can of beans. It also has a much more bluesy sound to it. Kinda crazy that this came out in 1969, and even crazier that some of these songs are reimagined blues and folk songs from other artists. It's an interesting piece of rock history if nothing else.
Rating: 7/10 Look, it's good, this is classic British blues rock done really well, but it's just not my favorite thing. Dazed & Confused is awesome, but it's my only real highlight while the rest borders on enjoyable. So it's good but I'm not crazy about it. Earlier Led Zeppelin in particular just doesn't do it for me, I know I will find more to like in their 70's output though
Classic Led Zep, good to listen through but hard to pick out anything I like specifically about it. It meshes together pretty well but I'm not exactly thinking about any specific songs or moments afterward 6.7/10
No private session used for Spotify. I am not much of blues fan, even when it wrapped in heavy drums and guitar. Putting those homages to the delta aside, some of this album is heavy metal gold.
I doubt this rating would be too popular, but I find Led Zeppelin quite boring.

This is a tricky one. The musicianship is great and I really like some passages of some songs, but it can also feel a little self-indulgent at times too. I will listen to it again to see if I can see why it’s so lauded. It may grow on me more.
Good old Led Zeppelin always delivers. This is a great debut album, but they, for me, improved with their later albums hitting home.

i remember learning about this fucking blimp in elementary school from our english teacher who was the biggest nerd.. he also made us sing the beatles whole discography and i remember once he told us a horror story he made up about jim morrison getting bit by a snake in the jungle and he had to get an arm transplant from a gorilla. vaguely also remember him telling is about some brothers with the name gallagher
can see why this album is considered influential, but it didn’t really connect with me. The sound feels powerful and raw, yet sometimes repetitive and not very emotional. There are a few strong moments, but overall it lacks the depth I usually look for. I respect it more than I enjoy it

As a debut album it is certainly very ambitious. None of the notable zeppelin songs are on this but a lot of favourites such as baby im gonna leave you and dazed and confused. This is a band finding their stride rather than hitting it.
Definitely not my favorite Zeppelin album, honestly outside of Good Times Bad Times and Dazed and Confused its mostly filler imo
This is by no means a bad album, but is it their best album? For the main part this is blues album. I think Jimmy Page is a great guitarist but is he a great blues guitarist? I’m not sure that he’s all that good - I Cant Quit You Babe. Could be the sluggt sloppiness is deliberate because he is undlubtably a versatile player. But blues rock folk bands in the 60s are a bit dime a dozen. Is this better than a Canned Heat album, a Mountain album, John Mayal? Its an extension of the yard birds but a pointer of what might come at the same time. Not a lot of originals on here and as a cover band, they’re pretty good. Many have argued that Led Zeppelin and are basically a cover band which I think is a bit unfair but this album is probably the most coverIsh of all their albums and I think they got better from here.

It seems as though this album is trying to burst out into something more than it is but just does ever quite do it.
3.5/5. An interesting but pointless exercise I like to do is thinking “in what year did a decades music really ‘start’.” As an example I’d argue that the 90’s really began in 1991 with grunges mainstream explosion. And the 70’s I would say began In 1969 thanks to albums such as In the Court of the Crimson King or this debut from Led Zeppelin which displays the heavier, bluesier style of rock that would go on to be massive in the 70’s. And for a debut album this is good stuff, especially on songs like “dazed and confused” which just have great guitar riffs. I do think Led Zeppelin will go on to make much better albums but this is still a good record that helped to shape how rock music would sound going forward.

Since the 1980s, so for 40 years, I have periodically interacted with this classic hard rock album, with its iconic cover art and compelling lead single, Good Times Bad Times. The result has always been the same: underwhelmed(edness). There are really good moments, Jimmy Page is obviously very good at playing guitar, but ... eh. Only one song is fully successful (Good Times, on which all four membets of the band shine). Several months ago I went through the Zep catalog for purposes of capturing the songs of theirs I like in my Apple Music library. I offended a friend of mine, who loves this band, by complaining to a text chain that their catalog is thin. But lots of it is plodding and underdeveloped. Sorry, Ross! I found the provenance of Black Mountain Side to be highly interesting ... Al Stewart taught it to Page based on Bert Jansch's arrangement, but got the tuning wrong ... the record company wanted to sue, but couldn't quite get there... I liked it more than I thought I would. Listened with hubby and it was very nostalgic for him. My mom saw them at a tiny hall at Harvard on this tour and she met the band. It was fun talking to her about that experience.... She remembers what she wore and where she sat. It brought a big giggly smile to her face.

This is a solid debut album, highlighting their blues influences and Robert Plant’s vocals at possibly their best. I’d give it 4* but for it still feeling too long in places, which causes it to lose some of its spark.
First two tracks I really loved and I figured this was definitely in line for a 4 or 5 but then You Shook Me started. The most plodding 5 bar blues ever. It was so so so slow. I debated what it would sound like if the speed was doubled - I think it would improve it, especially as it would mean it wasn't so fecking long. After that I intermittently enjoyed and was ambivalent towards tracks. There were some definite high points for me - Your Time Is Gonna Come and How Many More Times were enjoyable from the second half of the album. I love the vocals and they're clearly skilled musicians but You Shook Me annoyed me so much though, there's no way I could ever give it more than: 3/5

Like many people I grew up on Led Zeppelin. The first couple of songs are killers and staples, particularly "Dazed and Confused". Other songs are filler here as they're reaching to grasp their full potential and break out from the blues artists that they stole from.

It was hard not to be a smidge disappointed with this one coming off of Physical Graffiti back in December, but I went into Led Zeppelin's debut album assuming that it'd sound a little primitive by comparison and that definitely helped taper my expectations. It's just a solid blues rock album – nothing less, nothing more. Highlights: Good Times Bad Times, Dazed and Confused, I Can’t Quit You Baby, How Many More Times
first song's best part is the drums and the bass. vocals are not my fav vocals are better on the 2nd song. and the drums 🤌 dazed and confused is a banger, the drummsssss and the bassss the amount of accoustic instrumentation is surprising. differenting the bass and the guitar is hard many times, but the way the drums and the guitar interact with the bass is great didn't feel much emotionally tbh except like the fact that it was COOL. drums drums drums. subject matter was corny but I liked the passion in the vocals good album but I didn't feel much or connect much with the album with an emotion other than awe.
Cool musicianship. As usual with Led Zep, I prefer the least-ornamented bluesy songs to the more complex ones; and I don’t like Robert Plant’s voice (although he’s more restrained here than sometimes).
Early Led Zep which shows many early examples of what would become their own brand of rock blues. Not one of their best albums but they were only just beginning to work together. Still good to listen to from time to time.
Eh. "Good Times Bad Times" is evergreen brilliant but my attention drifts through much of the rest of this album.
A band that has never clicked with me. It makes me think of movies that have used their songs, and that makes me feel good.

I'd never listened to this before. Pretty good, and unmistakeably Zeppelin from the outset - it's a really strong style. That said, several of the tracks don't justify their length, and I wouldn't listen to it over and over.
