Reviews (page 11 of 14)
I was a big Zeppelin fan in high school, not as much as I used to be but I still like them a lot. A noble debut, with 'Babe I'm Gonna Leave You' and 'Communication Breakdown' standing out. Listening to this you really see how they influenced 70s rock music.
Classic Zeppelin. First album - best song is you shook me
El inicio de Zeppelin, de gran calidad y sonido propio desde el segundo 1. Mucho blues, mucho rock y momentos de mucha velocidad. Pura energía. 4 estrellas
While I appreciate the importance of this album, it isn't Zep's best. I mean it doesn't even have Ramble On! Blue's covers only go so far
A classic I've never actually listened to till now. A lot of influence into the music I listen to now. Hot take: the black keys donut better with less instruments.jack white is the best parts of this distilled. THAT FAT ASS BASS LINE AT THE START OF DAZED AND CONFUSED.
one of their best
i don’t know how to rate these anymore. i like
Classic
Nice sound!
did like
The song theft has to knock it down some, but it's hard to top Good Times Bad Times as your first album opener.
not as good as I'd heard
I think Ameen's hatred of Led Zeppelin's poisoned me. Even then It's still a good album, you can see how so many other bands were inspired by them. The instrumentals are super impressive and super catchy.
Recognised a few tunes and really enjoyed the album
Started out great, got a little iffy towards the middle. I'd listen to it again.
zeppeliiiiiiiiin
Classic- Loved it
Not quite sure how, but this is the first time listening to this album from start to finish. I still struggle with Plant's voice, but the musicianship and the tunes are top notch.
Oh fuck yeah bud!
Very Blues-y. A lot of heart and soul went into this album.
Good Times Bad Times is one of the greatest album openers ever written. What a record. The fact I like at least 2 other Zeppelin records more than this one means I can only give it a 4. It’s a victim of the grading scale.
Immer noch gut
didn't know I liked their instrumental stuff
I got a great selection this week
Great production, though without listening to other versions of the LP I can't say how much is a good remaster and how much is due to particular recording techniques. Feels tight somehow despite half the songs being longer than five minutes. Feels like a pretty high point of the blues rock style which tends to underwhelm me. And I understand there are three more similar projects.
i like it
Babe I’m Gonna Leave You is huge but as with everything else Zeppelin in can’t get into Plant’s singing. RYM: Y (#278) Saved a song: N
It's fine. I was expecting it to be a bunch of crap I'd heard a trillion times on the radio but I was pleasantly surprised this was not the case.
really good rock very 60s but its very basic to me i dont know i feel like its not that special or maybe its like a template to a much better type of music not my favorite favorite but great first listen to led zepplin!!
Fine, not their best.
Great Led Zeppelin album, highlight is always Dazed and Confused for me!
A decent listen but also not their best work. Some of it was actually kind of blues-y? And more than once the song was just Robert Plant making the same sound the guitar was making back and forth as if you were to keep meowing back and forth at your cat.
Legalzinho mas nada demais
Very bluesy it’s alright but not really full of the hits
already had some songs
Classic rock, pretty good
Good but not my exact taste
Much more bluesy than I expected. Pretty good. Didn’t recognise any of songs and none massively stood out but would happily listen again.
algunas canciones si en general no mgta el rock ñe
I liked this, a bit bluesier than the other album I heard. A bit quieter, but not at all boring. 3/5 - almost 4.
3,5/5 Fav song : Good Times Bad Times
It’s alright :)
Oki
The pathetic wail of the wounded ego of a callow boy, performed decently.
7/10 its good but doesnt have any song that make the album feel special in it
After listening to so much shit on this list of 1001 albums, I appreciate Led Zeppelin a lot more now than I have for the past 20 years. This album though only has a couple songs that really offer anything unique, but you can definitely tell they were on the cusp of something huge.
ramblin' and hootin' and hollerin', woman
6.5/10 - Nothing wrong with this album just a preference that leans against Led Zeppelin
If I were w guitar guy, I guess this would be my Valhalla
No one told me this is more of a blues album than classic rock. But I’m not complaining, I prefer that anyway. Great tunes played very well, but nothing really rises up to match the cover art.
Pretty good, but there are better Zeppelin records. I can do without the tracks "You Shook Me" and "I Can't Quit You Baby." UPDATE: After listening to Physical Graffiti, I am putting this one down to a 3.
this is not the best LZ. its very much a black blues record. thats fine, but it doesnt stand out to me. they get a little more wild and idiosyncratic later on. kinda tepid. still a fine listen.
Really really cool debut album for them. You can hear how vivid their vision is and how it got fleshed out into their hits that followed. Cool blend of instruments all throughout and even a tabla appearance. Vocals are iconic. Similar to the Neil Young album, with older albums it's hard to tell if my criticisms are proper criticisms of the music or if they are only possible bc of retroactive context that didn't apply at the time of release. Regardless, there were fun riffs but extended stretches where I found myself bored. I could not call any part of this uninspired though.
lo note un poco inconsistente y se me termino haciendo pesado pero los bangers son innegables 7/10
I'm a little surprised. Zeppelin felt like a band that should have been my thing but I ended up feeling pretty ambivalent to the album.
not bad
Best covers band of all time. Snark aside, I know it's good, important, old mates are incredible musicians etc etc... But, it's a bit much, right?
a machine that eventually will tighten. not my favorite of theirs
Enjoy this but not their best… 1. Good Times Bad Times 2. Dazed And Confused 3. Communication Breakdown
Good
Obviously the guitar solos are amazing. Some of the slower songs have kinda whiny vocals. The organ and harmonica solos in You Shook Me are very cool. Some songs, like Dazed and Confused as well as How Many More Times, are a bit much for me. Overall fun to listen to.
Pretentious. Good.
This is probably a great album.
Rock parts feel kind of stock... Blues parts are awesome. Weirdly, I found the least popular songs (more bluesy than rock?) to be the best: You Shook Me and Your Time is Gonna Come.
I used to really like this album, but on this listen it didn't make anywhere near as much impact as I remember. I did like the blending of styles and think it creates something bigger than the sum of its parts, but still left me feeling a bit underwhelmed.
S’okay.
Had no idea that this album was almost straight up blues music. Plant and Page are as stirring as advertised. A little too much griping about women for my taste.
what do you even say about this album in 2026. maybe the bluesiest led zep? 💥good times bad times 💥dazed and confused 💥your time is gonna come 💥communication breakdown
It’s always interesting listening to the debut album of a band. Sometimes their nail their sound from the start, but other times it’s more illustrative; like an early but incomplete draft. This is a great album, but not at the heights of III or IV. Still had that fusion of sounds, amazing vocals, and Jimmy page and Robert plant. But it’s not fully into the hard rock yet still has a little more jazz in it. I like it, but it’s like seeing a prom photo of a partner you met in your 30s.
Good feels like the end point of a way of making music that was less techno heavy basic instruments effects but after this it was synths, lots of effects and noodling.
I enjoyed this one but I think i’d have to be in a very specific mood to listen to it, not my usual type of music. TOP songs: Babe I’m Gonna Leave You, Dazed and Confused, I Can’t Quit You Baby
Kind of chaotic, I liked it, but not sure there was anything that stood out to me and really grabbed me. 3/5
12 year old me would have checked 5 stars for every zeppelin album on the list. Listening to this now and there are definitely some really good songs but they just don't have the same mystique that they had for me as a teenager. Solid album but not an all time great.
Solid set of bangers. Not my fav zeppelin album but it’s great.
I like the songs about Lord of the Rings but the rest doesn’t do much for me
a solid 2 songs i’ll probably listen to whenever they pop up on queue
I listened to this while eating an original Hershey’s chocolate bar and had to reckon with the question: which did I enjoy more, the music or the chocolate? Track 1: 1.5 pieces Track 2: 2.5 pieces Track 3: .5 piece Track 4: 2.5 pieces Track 5: 1 piece Track 6: .5 piece Track 7: 1.5 pieces Track 8: 1 piece Track 9: 2 pieces 13/16 pieces of chocolate. The chocolate bar wins
Me gustó, muy largos los temas pero estam buenos You time is gonna come mi fav
Never been a big Zeppelin guy and this didn’t move the needle. I couldn’t sing back a melody of any of the songs. Guitar is good of course.
like most of their work, Led Zeppelin's first is a lot more enjoyable to me now than it was when I was in high school. it does fall into that category of bobo ass white blues a lot of the time, though. that said: Babe I'm Gonna Leave You goes. deserves to be one of the 1001? nuclear take: Zep just need this and IV. the others are superfluous
okayyy sometimes dad rock is good
Listened to at least 2 tracks, not actually my fav type of genre, sorry.
I liked ‘You Shook Me’ and ‘Communication Breakdown.’ The rest of the album was okay, but those songs stuck out to me the most. I liked it until the last song.
Gets old quick and is repetitive and songs are long so that makes it pretty damn boring
Good guitars and drumming, annoying vocals. In short, just like every other Led Zeppelin album, but this time without any standout songs
3.5 / 5
good album, won't probably listen to it again
I enjoyed it. I like this better than some of their other albums because it doesn't sound like it was recorded inside a can of beans. It also has a much more bluesy sound to it. Kinda crazy that this came out in 1969, and even crazier that some of these songs are reimagined blues and folk songs from other artists. It's an interesting piece of rock history if nothing else.
Rating: 7/10 Look, it's good, this is classic British blues rock done really well, but it's just not my favorite thing. Dazed & Confused is awesome, but it's my only real highlight while the rest borders on enjoyable. So it's good but I'm not crazy about it. Earlier Led Zeppelin in particular just doesn't do it for me, I know I will find more to like in their 70's output though
No private session used for Spotify. I am not much of blues fan, even when it wrapped in heavy drums and guitar. Putting those homages to the delta aside, some of this album is heavy metal gold.
I doubt this rating would be too popular, but I find Led Zeppelin quite boring.
Curioso pero bueno
I always knew led zeppelin as a “my dad” band, but after listening to this album through, I enjoyed it. There were a few moments that were a little long but overall it was a good listen
Cover album pesawat zeppelin sangat terwakilkan oleh tembang-tembang pada album ini. Dari stadium anthem GTBT, Dazed and confused, commbreak, dan how many more times yang menggelegar dan penuh energi lalu dibawa mengambang dengan track sepeti babe I'm going to love you, your time is gonna come, dan black mountain side yang floaty dan indah. Akan tetapi, seperti pada album cover, beberapa lagu fall short dan dilematis seperti you shook me & i can't quit you baby karena blues yang di telinga saya kurang. Cultural appropriation? kurang tau, tetapi menurut saya mending gak usah ada disana.
The guitar solo hit me
Sometimes I go into the records this website spits out and think I'll surely like something, and then hate it. This time I thought I'd hate it, but I liked it.
Lo escuché mientras caminaba en la cinta
Good songs bad songs, this album has its share
This is a tricky one. The musicianship is great and I really like some passages of some songs, but it can also feel a little self-indulgent at times too. I will listen to it again to see if I can see why it’s so lauded. It may grow on me more.
Good old Led Zeppelin always delivers. This is a great debut album, but they, for me, improved with their later albums hitting home.
...ehh? I prefer my led to have a polished sound, thanks
can see why this album is considered influential, but it didn’t really connect with me. The sound feels powerful and raw, yet sometimes repetitive and not very emotional. There are a few strong moments, but overall it lacks the depth I usually look for. I respect it more than I enjoy it
me gustaron más las primeras canciones del álbum que el resto
Sounds like a very pivotal album for the rock genre, I liked it! I love how passionate rock is.
I really got into this album, 3rd LZ album this week, I even downloaded it, saw Huey MorgAn last night - he lives LZ, that’s good enough for me
As a debut album it is certainly very ambitious. None of the notable zeppelin songs are on this but a lot of favourites such as baby im gonna leave you and dazed and confused. This is a band finding their stride rather than hitting it.
Definitely not my favorite Zeppelin album, honestly outside of Good Times Bad Times and Dazed and Confused its mostly filler imo
This is by no means a bad album, but is it their best album? For the main part this is blues album. I think Jimmy Page is a great guitarist but is he a great blues guitarist? I’m not sure that he’s all that good - I Cant Quit You Babe. Could be the sluggt sloppiness is deliberate because he is undlubtably a versatile player. But blues rock folk bands in the 60s are a bit dime a dozen. Is this better than a Canned Heat album, a Mountain album, John Mayal? Its an extension of the yard birds but a pointer of what might come at the same time. Not a lot of originals on here and as a cover band, they’re pretty good. Many have argued that Led Zeppelin and are basically a cover band which I think is a bit unfair but this album is probably the most coverIsh of all their albums and I think they got better from here.
Not my bad but I appreciated it.
Cool kids
It seems as though this album is trying to burst out into something more than it is but just does ever quite do it.
3.5/5. An interesting but pointless exercise I like to do is thinking “in what year did a decades music really ‘start’.” As an example I’d argue that the 90’s really began in 1991 with grunges mainstream explosion. And the 70’s I would say began In 1969 thanks to albums such as In the Court of the Crimson King or this debut from Led Zeppelin which displays the heavier, bluesier style of rock that would go on to be massive in the 70’s. And for a debut album this is good stuff, especially on songs like “dazed and confused” which just have great guitar riffs. I do think Led Zeppelin will go on to make much better albums but this is still a good record that helped to shape how rock music would sound going forward.
non l’ho sentito tutto, comunque non è propriamente il mio genere però ovviamente è tanta roba
Maybe my least favourite of their albums so far? Idk it was good but others were better
It didn’t say deluxe so I’m listening to the regular album. I can’t say I have the best taste in music, but this album wasn’t my favorite. (9 songs, 44 mins)
Since the 1980s, so for 40 years, I have periodically interacted with this classic hard rock album, with its iconic cover art and compelling lead single, Good Times Bad Times. The result has always been the same: underwhelmed(edness). There are really good moments, Jimmy Page is obviously very good at playing guitar, but ... eh. Only one song is fully successful (Good Times, on which all four membets of the band shine). Several months ago I went through the Zep catalog for purposes of capturing the songs of theirs I like in my Apple Music library. I offended a friend of mine, who loves this band, by complaining to a text chain that their catalog is thin. But lots of it is plodding and underdeveloped. Sorry, Ross! I found the provenance of Black Mountain Side to be highly interesting ... Al Stewart taught it to Page based on Bert Jansch's arrangement, but got the tuning wrong ... the record company wanted to sue, but couldn't quite get there... Down by Blackwaterside - Wikipedia https://share.google/9qTkwYSegQjQPCZFI
I liked it more than I thought I would. Listened with hubby and it was very nostalgic for him. My mom saw them at a tiny hall at Harvard on this tour and she met the band. It was fun talking to her about that experience.... She remembers what she wore and where she sat. It brought a big giggly smile to her face.
not for me
This is a solid debut album, highlighting their blues influences and Robert Plant’s vocals at possibly their best. I’d give it 4* but for it still feeling too long in places, which causes it to lose some of its spark.
First two tracks I really loved and I figured this was definitely in line for a 4 or 5 but then You Shook Me started. The most plodding 5 bar blues ever. It was so so so slow. I debated what it would sound like if the speed was doubled - I think it would improve it, especially as it would mean it wasn't so fecking long. After that I intermittently enjoyed and was ambivalent towards tracks. There were some definite high points for me - Your Time Is Gonna Come and How Many More Times were enjoyable from the second half of the album. I love the vocals and they're clearly skilled musicians but You Shook Me annoyed me so much though, there's no way I could ever give it more than: 3/5
I should really like this more than I do. Bluesy rock, great guitar, but it just doesn’t hook me. It was just ok for me. 3.5/5
Like many people I grew up on Led Zeppelin. The first couple of songs are killers and staples, particularly "Dazed and Confused". Other songs are filler here as they're reaching to grasp their full potential and break out from the blues artists that they stole from.
i heard a lot of the songs before during my rock phase im gonna have to give this a relisten
It was hard not to be a smidge disappointed with this one coming off of Physical Graffiti back in December, but I went into Led Zeppelin's debut album assuming that it'd sound a little primitive by comparison and that definitely helped taper my expectations. It's just a solid blues rock album – nothing less, nothing more. Highlights: Good Times Bad Times, Dazed and Confused, I Can’t Quit You Baby, How Many More Times
first song's best part is the drums and the bass. vocals are not my fav vocals are better on the 2nd song. and the drums 🤌 dazed and confused is a banger, the drummsssss and the bassss the amount of accoustic instrumentation is surprising. differenting the bass and the guitar is hard many times, but the way the drums and the guitar interact with the bass is great didn't feel much emotionally tbh except like the fact that it was COOL. drums drums drums. subject matter was corny but I liked the passion in the vocals good album but I didn't feel much or connect much with the album with an emotion other than awe.
Cool musicianship. As usual with Led Zep, I prefer the least-ornamented bluesy songs to the more complex ones; and I don’t like Robert Plant’s voice (although he’s more restrained here than sometimes).
Early Led Zep which shows many early examples of what would become their own brand of rock blues. Not one of their best albums but they were only just beginning to work together. Still good to listen to from time to time.
Eh. "Good Times Bad Times" is evergreen brilliant but my attention drifts through much of the rest of this album.
A band that has never clicked with me. It makes me think of movies that have used their songs, and that makes me feel good.
Decent album.
pretty good
This album tends to switch between being pretty banger and then having moments that are yeah they’re fine I guess. They’re alright. I’m kind of a lyrics snob and I think it was a lil nothingburger in that regard. But it was good!
Dober ampak the other one were better
Boy those guys plagiarized some good stuff! Nah for real though. They’re obviously talented but you can tell this is their first record, the much more interesting stuff comes later.
Super
Meh. Waiting for Stairway to Heaven.
This is a good time, but I don't even know that it's my favorite Led Zeppelin album (that would be "IV"). Great bluesy sound with a hint of what they'd grow into. Favorite tracks: "You Shook Me" and "Dazed and Confused"
never been overly excited by LZ but it's good
Like the instrumentals and how they sound kind of raw. Not so much the vocals, too much "baby baby".
I'd never listened to this before. Pretty good, and unmistakeably Zeppelin from the outset - it's a really strong style. That said, several of the tracks don't justify their length, and I wouldn't listen to it over and over.
Good but nothing that sticks with me.
It’s good. I liked it. I most likely won’t be listening to it again but I can appreciate the music and the impact. Favorite: communication breakdown
Rating: 7/10 They made better albums, much better albums. Overrated.
I really tried to like this
No sabia si cogerme a mi mismo o hacerme la paja. Buen álbum pero hay mejores
Good listen, probably won’t listen again
I don't know. I see the relevance and there are nice songs on it, but it's just not my cup oft tea.
kinda short and more varied than expected. Still not my style.
Surprisingly buesy album. No real standout songs, sometimes the tracks go on for too long. But enjoyable rock musi overall.
Not going to lie. I didn't give this album the best shot I could have. But I've already not been that into Led Zepplin's work, so it would have been a surprise if this was the album to get me. It was not.
Reminds me of Nick from freaks & geeks, the clingy bf you don’t want listens to this! But I like it so far, bonham is good!!
There are times where this album has me jolted, excited and thoroughly enjoying every second of music on display and others where I'm snoozing with my headphones on. However some of the songs on here are truly special and cornerstones of every rock fans diet, including mine. I think that actually sums up my opinion on Led Zeppelin as a whole really.
The bombastic reinterpretation of blues riffs.
Lamento no haberme equivocado.
7/10
Zu hart
Ok
None of them are ones I want to save, but they are all decent songs. I can see why ppl fw led zeppelin
12 bar blues annoying, but the rest were very good. Nice guitar
You can hear the roots of what Zeppelin would become, but this is not their best work. Some good songs, but not as good as their best, and some pretty bad ones.
That’s not really the type of music I would usually listen to, it was different, but worth it. I love the instruments and voice arrangements of all of the songs, still, that’s really not the music genre I’m into. “I Can’t Quit You Baby” is definitely going to my playlist though.
Not a huge fan of robert plants voice. Good riffs tho
good sure but often annoying or boring and from what i’ve read much stolen. i do understand the appeal but not crazy about it
Strong start but I lost interest as it went along. Solid 3.
Pretty good, some songs dragged on a bit but sti enjoyed it. God few saves
My least favourite of their first 4, but still has some great moments
Rating is mostly down to personal taste and knowing their career trajectory. They’ve got much better stuff in the tank.
монументально, молодцы, но пока кажется не мой жанр (хоть и не бесит)
Kind of thought this wouldn't be up my street, it is a fairly decent listen but isn't something I'm desperate to come back to.
This is the debut from Led Zeppelin, including three tracks that are heard often on classic rock radio: “Dazed and Confused”, “Communication Breakdown”, and “Good Times Bad Times”. Also on this album are some old blues songs which have been converted to heavy metal. Overall a good debut album, not quite four stars.
I liked this album but didn't love it. A couple of good songs and a nice sound but not really engaging for me.
Good, but they got better and more interesting later.
Led Zeppelin is a solid 6/10 for me in general, I always tolerate it and sometimes enjoy it, but never put it on by myself. This album was decent though.
Just not very exciting to me. My third Led Zeppelin album on the list, and least favorite so far. Still a classic album for a reason but not something I need to revisit personally. Just really tired of this sound. Top Songs: Dazed and Confused, Black Mountain Side
not a fan of hard rock, if only they knew how to make folk songs
Hmm, cv nog wel. Over het algemeen is het een enjoyable album, enkel de eerste 3 nummers zijn een beetje te lang waardoor ze te repetitief lijken.
Used to love this. Doesn't do it for me anymore
I know these guys are huge but I personally am not obsessed. I didn’t add a single song to my liked playlist.
I respect the talent but more so than other hard rock acts I just found this particular album to be especially masturbatory and posturing, like I couldn’t describe a worldview. I say this as someone who likes their later albums.
Sounds good!
Nothing crazy, just some sexy rock.
3.75 I like some of it, chill rock, some songs feel similar to other bands of the same era (‘68), like Traffic and The Band and some of The Rolling Stones songs. Only issue is that the songs I like the sound of are really long (like 6 mins), which is kinda annoying. Maybe some if their other albums would work better for me
Great for it's time and later, just kinda clunky now
Its an ok introduction to Led Zeppelin, but its not their best.
Yeah pretty good. Didn’t love it, but didn’t hate it.
You can tell the greatness to come from this album.
Some songs were better than others, but every one felt too long
Pretty good
I feel similar about this as I do about Led Zeppelin III
Hell yeah. Some slammers on this one, I don't intend to lie. I don't think I'm the hugest zep fan but this album rocks. A solid 6.7/10
fav songs: - Babe I'm Gonna Leave You - I Can't Quit You Baby least fav song: - Good Times Bad Times musings: - I feel like Dazed and Confused would hit crazy after 2-4 beers at a dive bar - Communication Breakdown would be a great song in the background of a movie where a couple is fighting or something - I really thought I wasn't gonna like this at all but it grew on me rating: 6.8/10
Classic!
Good but not really my style. Nice for a BBQ.
Enjoyed Dazed and Confused the most. It’s a great rock album but probably not one I’ll come back to.
Not sure the first Monday morning back at work after Christmas break is the right time for Led Zep. Can tell is groundbreaking, influential etc but maybe just not my thing.
Favorite Songs - Baby I'm Gonna Leave You, Dazed and Confused, Your Time Is Gonna Come, How Many More Times
Never heard the album before, kinda what I expected.
5/10 - Favorite song: I can’t quit you baby
I'm not sure if it's the case that I'm not into the blues, or it's a case that I don't care for Led Zep's attempts at it. Favorite song: Black Mountain Side
Ipnotico, amo il mix tra rock e richiami alla musica spagnola. Richiamo alla musica psichedelica di quegli anni
5/10, I love the guitar but I just don’t like the style or pace that much .
Honestly, I didn't know what to expect frome Led Zeppeling besides their absolute greatest hits. Was enjoyable classic rock with lots of talent and variety.
Thought I'd heard them before, but this seemed new to me.
Classic, jam-heavy hard rock. A little too unrefined and wild for my liking - I prefer the later Zeppelin albums. Unbelievable that these guys were only in their early 20s when they made this.
The best of their records, which isnt a huge compliment, but some good, some uninteresting
This is certainly a "cool" album. It's not what I always want but it does have a few great gems. Great vocals. Good to throw on in the background when cooking or cleaning!
a lot of screaming in the morning
Alright but a bit boring.
I used to like LED Zeppelin, then I heard Greta Van Fleet and it made me really not like LED Zeppelin.
I am a bit disappointed, I had a fond memory of this album, and found myself underwhelmed by most song on this album. Babe I'm Gonna Leave You is still one of my favorite rock song since I first listened to it a few years back. Fav: Babe I'm gonna leave you
I liked it but not my fav LZ album.
Pretty good!
Bättre än tvåan, men lite sämre än Physical Graffiti. Bäst i låtar med tydliga raka rockriff, som de två inledande, samt orgelbaserade Your time is gonna come. Tre långa sega blueslåtar för mycket.
Good album, not their best job
After many years of really trying to get on with Led Zepp, today's homework has finally landed an answer as to why I just don't: it's Robert Plant's sex noises that dominate the vocal delivery, that's the issue! Will always remain a 'Best Of' band. Heard before ❌️ Listened this time ✅️ Revisit ❌️ ★★★☆☆ (5/10)
Et av de største bandene jeg fortsatt har til gode å sjekke ut. Ekte rockepionerer. Solid men inkonsistent hard rock her. Dazed and Confused bærer dette albumet på sine skuldre. For en vanvittig god sang! Top 3: Dazed and Confused, Communication Breakdown, Babe I’m Gonna Leave You
This was easily recognizable as a Led Zeppelin album.
Don't understand the hype ngl
Not my fave but definitely a good album to listen in the background when with friends or at a party. I liked "Babe I'm gonna leave you" the most.
Solid rock baby! All the so gs we gree up on.
I liked black mountain side - more diverse range of songs on the album and more blues like than I thought this would be - honestly cannot tell how much I like it I think I enjoyed it but probably wouldn’t put it on myself again not super my style
I get it, I promise I do, I just don't really care too much
6.5/10 Super heavy on the guitar, long songs but I enjoyed most of them! Liked Good Times Bad Times best. Learned that the album cover is Hindenburg which was manufactured by a company called Zeppelin (hence the band name). Also learned that their drummer, Bonham, died at 32 from choking on vomit which led to the eventual break up of the band. Stairway to Heaven is the most popular song of theirs. Immigrant Song is also popular and goes hard.
12/11/2025 Stoked to get this as my very first pick. This is a fun listen. Mind melting long ass songs and primal screaming and moaning back and forth with the guitar (end of You Shook Me and middle of Dazed and Confused). Goddamn I'm lost in the sauce. 6.5/10
Led Zeppelin being Led Zeppelin
This is one of those cases where I have so much respect for the band and the music and that they're clearly good, but it just honestly doesn't really do much for me.
Quite 'classic rock', because that's what it is. But it's the better end of classic rock and the drumming slams. Favourite tracks: Good Times Bad Times, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Dazed and Confused, How Many More Times.
wasn't turned off by it but earlier rock doesn't really catch my ear or interest me
Hed mi gar nöd abgholt, vill z rockig. aber han denn namal tüüf i mich ieblickt und denkt, chum es 3 gämmer scho. Will Zeppelin ja scho au es OG fortbewegigsmittel isch
Much preferred this to Physical Graffiti. Still not really my jam, but I get why people like it - some of these tracks have got such a colossal, operatic presence to them. 6.5 / 10 Best track/s: Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Good Times Bad Times
Jimmy page and JPJ are great musically, Robert Plant not my fav. A couple songs I like but I never seek out LZ to listen to.
This album is a lot more down and dirty than Led Zeppelin's later work. This brings some compelling energy to the album but also leads to something that is unfocused and often feels unfinished. The vibe of a band just hanging out and jamming out together makes some of these songs very cool, but others just meander and never get to the point. I like Led Zeppelin but this is not their best work. I see the spark and get why people were excited about them, but I'd rather listen to later records. The cover is great, iconic, well composed, thematic, it's a 5/5.
Very Pink Floyd
*Nice mix of rock and blues- just went a little to mellow with the blues at times.
It was ok. Not necessarily my taste in music. I did like some of the blues feel in some of the songs.
Blues rock meets psychedelic rock.
omg only zep III and physical graffiti to go until we escape the influence of the black magic of jimmy page. /j it's (of course) not as good as led zep IV but since it is their debut, it's alright. but its still a 3.5 for me cause IV impressed me too much and this album didn't impress me much apart from good times bad times and dazed and confused (which is literally a watered down version of whole lotta love), although i know debut albums are always weaker than later works. 3.5/5
sometimes i just wish led zeppelin was a doom metal band and it's weird because at times they actually almost are, when they REALLY stretch out the blues it sounds cool as fuck but sometimes they get distracted by playing guitar solos or whatever and trying to impress the 14 year old girls they wanted to groom, overall as i get older led zep kinda is horseshoe-ing back into being cool in my mind but only like half the time anyways have a nice day yall  Fav song: Dazed and Confused (main part is insanely heavy)
Even though I’m not a big fan of rock, I can see why this album is so loved. Its blend of blues and folk elements really stood out to me. Favorite Song: Babe I’m Gonna Leave You
Clearly some mad guitar skills, but not my favorite.
3.5
Zuhause, Gerstetten, Deutschland. Die Menge an Hits ist überschaubar.
Classic, but a bit difficult from start to end
Bluesy, rockish, sounded familiar.
I don't get Led Zeppelin. This was ok, but nothing special for my ears/heart. Communication Breakdown stood out. ★★★
3.5 stars. His voice gets annoying after awhile, sorry.
3.5
pretty good
some bangers on this, although robert plants voice can be extremely grating 3.5
Best Song: Good Times Bad Times. It's just such a great kickoff to the album, and the guitar solo really sells it for me. Worst Song: You Shook Me. It's not that it's bad, it just feels like a relatively ordinary blues track, relative to the rest of what's going on here. Overall: It's good, but it certainly isn't Zeppelin's best. A lot is spent floundering in blues rock, without that extra energy and electricity that makes Zeppelin really work for me.
Brings back teen memories of songs on the radio!
Millor del que pensava a la primera impressió, però necessito escoltar-lo més.
It’s okay. Would be better if they didn’t write about and normalize sexualizing underage girls.
Led Zeppelin’s self-titled debut album (1969) is one of those that I felt obligated to score highly, but after listening through in its entirety, couldn’t bring myself to do so. As a debut album, it’s obvious why they burst into the scene, as it’s filled with lots of popular songs people love, like “Good Times Bad Times”, “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You”, “Dazed and Confused”, and “Communication Breakdown”. The problem is in the catalog of Zeppelin hits, these would all rank in the bottom half or near the bottom for me. So while I thought this was good, it just wasn’t great. 3/5
Real good quality album. Should be 4/5 but Black Mountain Side is actually garbage. Can't believe that made the cut.
It's a good band. They got some big hits. Just maybe not a...
An ok album. Nice mix of blues rock and proto hard rock
I’ve never been wholly convinced by Led Zeppelin and this does nothing to persuade me in either direction. A little too much of Robert Plant’s anguished wailing for my taste.
I like Led Zeppelin, and I really liked Good Times Bad Times, but the rest of the album isn't as good as their later stuff. Like someone else here said, it feels more like a jam session than fully thought out individual songs.
This is the 3rd Led Zeppelin album I've listened to on this list and I still feel like I'm missing something. The talent on display here is unquestionable but something about the music just doesn't resonate with me. I think you had to have grown up listening to Zeppelin to really capture the full essence and if you didn't then you won't ever truly "get" it.
Solid album - especially for being the debut. You can see how they got so famous.
This Blues Rock album is a powerful but uneven debut, bursting with raw energy and instrumental fire yet held back by uneven production and moments of indulgent blues interptetations.
Fine.
Another day another debut album from a band I don't care for that I found to be actually good! I'll need to figure out why this is one day.
Nuclear take - this is mid. Led Zep is at their least compelling when they are just playing (stealing) the blues. They do it well! I don't care though! When they get a lil kooky with it is where they really shine. The only song on this record that doesn't make me pine for subsequent Zep is "Your Time Is Gonna Come". This record is a 3 in my heart but a 4 in my brain.
fine
Led Zeppelin >4>PG. I like about 2 minutes of each Les Zeppelin song.
I was something of a Led Zeppelin super fan as a teenager, so it feels weird to rate this so low. There are some great songs on here, but overall it's not them at their best. A very promising debut in retrospect, but wonder how well I would have reviewed it if I was around in 1969. The production is also rough AF. The best songs imo are Good Times Bad Times, Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, Dazed and Confused, and Communication Breakdown. The rest I can kinda take or leave. I always thought that Your Time is Gonna Come sounds like a completely different band - it sticks out like a sore thumb.
Probably the most I've enjoyed Led Zeppelin on this list so far, a solid crop of songs, but still, not an album that I see myself re-visiting. But honestly, this was the most expressive and enjoyable I've found Plant to be (especially on 'Babe I'm Gonna Love You'), a vocalist I can seldom stand. As usual, though, he's still the worst part of this band's music, and his repetitive, derivative, and directionless riffing on songs like 'I Can't Quite You Baby' bog down these otherwise solid jammy songs. Overall, the album is considerably heavier and grittier than some of their other albums in the self-titled series; the riffs are dirtier and catchier, that's for sure - listen to 'Dazed and Confused', 'How Many More Times', and 'Communication Breakdown'. And yes, I know these guys stole a good chunk of their riffs, but assuming they didn't, the ones here are some of their absolute best. I mean, you still get your occasional snoozer ('Your Time Is Gonna Come'), but for a band that I don't really care for, this was pretty enjoyable.
Good classic rock
I didn’t find it too exciting but it wasn’t terrible
85/1001 Led Zeppelin - s/t Heard before? ✅ Revisit? ✅ This is the weakest of the Led Zeppelin albums I've heard so far, as for me it leans far too much into the bluesier side of theirs. There are still some absolute belters but doesn't quite elevate iinto the next level for me.
Decent
Bluesy at the beginning, better towards the end
There was a time when I really loved late 60s/early 70s rock music, but when I listen to it now, I often find myself astonished by how repetitive and indistinguishable the songs are from one another. That's my feeling on this album as well. "Your Time is Gonna Come" has some unique characteristics, but the rest of the album just blends together.
It's an interesting debut, but with this one Led Zeppelin were still finding their feet. Blues jamming (like you shook me, i can't quit you baby) might have sounded fresh back then, but now it's bit boring. Led Zeppelin did make some much more interesting bluesy tracks later on. But there are also definite highlights on this album, like Good times bad times, black mountain side and communication breakdown.
Atmospheric and melodic, not as heavy as I was expecting based on it's reputation. Interesting melodies but little that's instantly memorable
Not heavy metal Dad rock with blues vibe Good Time Bad Times - Great track Dazed and Confused - Decent but too much moaning, gets awkward Black Mountain Side - Only good for a piss break Communication Breakdown - Best solo on album
Communication Breakdown is my favourite from the album, I definitely prefer the faster tempo. Bro also legit nutted at the end of Dazed and Confused. I think I got PTSD from You Shook Me. The harmonica returns, thank you Bob.
1969 - Crazy. Definitely a leader in this sound. The album was really good. No stand outs, but generally awesome.
This album is fine. I was hoping for more from them but it’s not a bad listen
fantastic debut album. I was a Zeppelin fan from an early age, although I started young with "Presence". I was familiar with this album, and I think the first side is rock solid. I honestly prefer Cream; and while I like other Zep albums but this is a powerhouse that has stood the test of time. Favorite tracks: Good Times, Bad Times , I Can't Quit You Baby
OK Zeppelin.
Ekki fyrir mig en mjog skemmtilegt undirhljoð
3.75
3/5
they play the instruments well
This started out strong but then devolved into more white men singing the blues. It lost me at that point.
You can tell it’s their debut album cause it feels so raw and unpolished - but hey how awesome huh. I rate this album and it’s def above the pack for the era it dropped in.
Seems derivative and self-absorbed. Not a fan.
some great guitar riffs, I like how the songs lead into the next and the voice is not bad. However the lyrics are wandering and unoriginal and some songs just go on forever repeating the same words. 5/10
It's good, but they got better
Another good Album. More blues than I would have expected
Preferable to the last album by them. I even like another track by them. You Time Is Gonna Come is very nice indeed.
Some real bangers on this one, regardless of how insufferable Plant is after awhile.
Finally took the time to listen to it
too much led zep recently
