Reviews (page 12 of 13)
Certainly better than average pop songs, but they are good not great. My Sweet Lord is the best, and i was surprised by If Not For You, which i only knew as an ONJ song. Surprised to find it came from here. Good.
Not bad
3/5
Meh, synes det er lidt kedeligt til gengæld er det alt for langt og til sidst glemmer han helt at synge Highlights: - Run of the Mill 2.4

Yea he's a legend and all, and there are some good songs, but come on really? I'm always skeptical of double albums. This is a TRIPLE album. I found myself wanting this to end most of the way through the first two discs, even during the songs I liked? Out of the Blue was kinda tight low key fuckin banging but then the rest of the third disc washed over me, much like the majority of this overrated behemoth.
First of all, The Apple Jam section of the album was unnecessary. It went on for way too long and it should have been cut to reduce the running time. I don’t think I can listen to this album all the way through anymore. There are five or six songs that are really good and everything else as subpar.
Wow. Talk about leaving your old band behind and not looking back.
Man o man, this is dull as balls and far too long It didn't pain me to get through, so I don't think I can give it a 1, but I was glad when it finished
From the Vault #17 (March 16, 2026) Hey, George Harrison. I was surprised to learn that he had an album on here - I was expecting the book to only include the solo careers of McCartney and Lennon. Guess that makes poor Ringo the ugly duckling. I know that George Harrison is a common pick for favourite Beatle among those who really know their Beatles, though I don't actually know which songs he wrote for the band off the top of my head. I'm pretty sure he was responsible for the Indian influence which permeated throughout the latter half of their career, which I can't say I'm all that into. If this album is more of that, then I'm not expecting much. I'm going to hedge my bets on a folk album, however. The album cover has much of that feel to it. Here goes. Folk rock. I was half-correct, at least. I'm assembling this pre-written review for the exact reason that this album is long as shit, but man. This album is long as shit. I already have conniptions and blow gaskets over double albums, so having two albums and a bonus disc of the band dicking around is fucked up. There are some good moments in here that even I can acknowledge, but this music is ultimately beyond the pale what I traditionally like. Not a folker, what can I say? That genre is among the more tepid that I've listened to. Still, there are some nice moments in here. The piano is generally pretty good, and there's some good chord progressions in the guitars as well. I didn't like the more conventional rock songs in here - they're much too busy and blown out for my liking, but the softer songs were pretty alright. George Harrison also has a nice voice, though I won't lie - I have a nasty habit of mistaking it with Lennon's. Overall, this album does not command its runtime and it's outside my typical sphere of interest, but part of me is tempted to give it a second chance. Book time. "...by the time [The Beatles] imploded, [George Harrison] had a treasure trove of songs saved up for presentation on All Things Must Pass, which ranks among the two or three best albums released by a former Beatle." Produced by Phil Spector, who the book says "...continued down the Abbey Road path" with his infamous wall of sound approach. Uhhhh, hello? He produced Let It Be. Absolute rookie hour here in the thousandty-one albums book. Has a few collaborators - notably much of the lineup that would later become Derek and the Dominos. It "...only sounds better with time." I mean, yeah. Like I said earlier, I've known for a while that George Harrison has been classed by many as their favourite Beatle, so I think he earns this spot on the list. I cosign this inclusion.
Something so mid and meandering should never be 2 fucking hours long. And the whole god spiel is so annoying and preachy.
so tedious and so long
It’s a no from me dawg
lotta strikes against this album. it's a triple album. a third of it is another entry in the I'm Glad They're Having Fun Playing Their Instruments But I Don't Need To Be Here For It jam band annals. it's overtly religious. Worst of all it's another Beatles entry on this album generator that's just here because oh my gosh you guys The Beatles! even more irritating that this would be an easy three if it had been edited down to the good songs. Harrison at his best was more interesting than the other Beatles and you can see glimpses of that here. Maybe I'd be throwing less of a fit if this was on the list *instead* of one of the Beatles albums rather than having it *and* everything else they ever released *and* everything Lennon/McCartney touched. (Not even the music nerds putting this book together could pretend Ringo's solo work needed a listen and we can be thankful for that small mercy.) better than Wings though! I'd rather sit through three hours of the jam band portion of this record before listening to Wings again
Another 2.5
It took 2 hours for this backed up colon of an album to "pass" but it did eventually so George got the title right at least.
Wasn't for me. Really liked a couple but kept zoning out.
George, what the fuck are you going releasing a near two hour long album? You need to take a look at yourself. Favourite track: My Sweet Lord
three records, 2+ hours, i get what you're doing but come on man
His guitar doesn’t gently weep here, it whines, almost as much as his voice on this forgettable collection of songs.
Bloated album size. Bit samey and not his best work
3/10 Me canso, muy largo al pedo. Tiene muchísimos temas donde es solo instrumental. Bastante aburrido
I have already listened to this album. This album is okay. It is historical, however w hours feels too long, and the recording is rough. 2.5/5
I get it. But man. Dont really care
2 hours, George!?
nahh
Disappointing
#379 / 1089 Heard before? ✅ Revisit? ❌ I was about to say it feels like Beatles leftovers before I read that from this albums Qobuz review. I remember listening to this once before, after a friend praised it and I was flabbergasted at how that came to be. Later it turned out his taste in music turned inward and backward, no longer interested in what is about to happen and looking backwards to "more of the same". It's well produced, playing is fine, instrumentation is varied albeit filled with hippie cliches (which I'm sure was not a huge thing in the mainstream, dunno), but the music is not interesting to me. Even tho I don't usually listen to lyrics, they got pretty effin annoying quite fast, "hare hare my lord" FFS. Really pressing myself to care enough to rate this, let alone writing this and this is pumping me into rage. Goddamn 2/5 and I'm pissed I can't justify a single star to myself.
Too long and pretty boring
Not great but I mean people like it
All things must pass. I had to keep telling myself this after the first ½dozen tracks. In fairness it was ok, it just kept going waaayyy tttooooo llooooonngg. Vocally he's more in the Lennon camp than the McCartney one. Going to put it down as a
Good for you George
Meh
No es lo mio, siguiente
My Sweet Lord is one of the few nice songs on this double album.
bueno si
could have been worse.
Not my jam
0/28 bekannt 5/10 Beste Songs: my sweet lord, wah-wah, what is life?
Kind mid
Allt lät typ som My sweet lord. Inte riktigt i min smak men väldigt Harrison-esque. Sista instrumentala låtarna var ändå kul.
This album is a bloated mess. There's a couple of good songs in here. But I don't want to listen to this enough to decide which songs to cut and which to keep.
Never heard it. I’ve heard it’s a pisser of an album. I’d have you anytime: 8/10 Really cool song. My Sweet Lord: 10/10 Biblical. Wah-wah: 8.5/10 High energy and catchy. Isn’t it a pity: 6.5/10 Pretty long song. Not bad What is life: 6.5/10 Groovy track. If not for you: 5.5/10 Behind that locked door: 5/10 A bit boring. Let it down: 6/10 Run of the mill: 5/10 Beware of darkness: 5.5/10 Apple scruffs: 4/10 Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (let it roll): 5/10 Awaiting on you all: 5/10 All things must pass: 5/10 I dig love: 4.5/10 Art of dying: 4.5/10 Isn’t it a pity- Version two: 5/10 Hear me lord: 5/10
Has a lot of potential. I very much enjoy the heart throbby aspects to the album, BUT I do, indeed, think that it is too long. I think the instrumentals are SUCH a vibe, especially for the time period, but I do think it's difficult to compose an album with such lengthy instrumentals that does NOT get a little bit repetitive/dull. Overall still nice for a vibey, chill time but felt half hearted.
Oh George. This one never hooked me.
Zei tegen iemand "Beatles-ass music" en ze reageerde met "uh, yeah, that would be the Beatle who made it"
Dnf
Much too busy to listen to a 2 hour long album today, but what I did hear was just fine. Definitely heard more tedious music than this from the early 70s!
I didn’t care for this album at all. I was surprised because I enjoyed the Beatles. There is not one song is ever have to hear again!
I think that the only reason it is here is because it is ex-beatle album. This album is too boring to be that long.
i didn’t know anything about George Harrison before (including that he was a part of The Beatles) so while i was listening to the second or third song on the album i was like huh it sounds like beatles. and then there came the same instrumentals with the same lyrics. got bored in the middle of the album. ima gen z
Kuinka kauan on instrumentaaleja, käytännössä Blues-kaava -jamittelua? Riittääkö puoli tuntia? Jämäbiisejö, jotka eivät mahtuneet Beatles-albumeille? Kenties. Huono levy vaikka miten on Beatles-mies. 2/5
Ok'ish
All things must pass, including our obsession with Beatles(and The Beatles for that matter). Favorite Track: "My Sweet Lord".
ACTUAL RATING: 2.5 This could’ve had a loooooot less songs on here.
There are good songs in this album, however it is just way too long and repetitive at one point. Would rate it higher if it was shorter. 2/5
It was fine.
Albums longer than 2 hours should not be allowed Very seventies Okey, but boring after a while
Kule bangers, men mye æ kunne vært foruten. Highlights: What is Life og Wah-wah
I just don't have a spare two hours and five minutes. Heard before ❌️ Listened this time ❌️ Revisit ❌️ Can't be arsed - default★★☆☆☆ (4/10) Total reviewed : 232 Already owned : 53 Purchased : 12 To buy list : 2 Nope : 165
Started it just fine -- both the things I knew and the things I didn't. And then it just went on forever, giving itself time to become totally boring and then straight up irritating.
I can see how he was a Beatle, but not in that he influenced the band, but rather the other way.
This album was testing me before I even started listening to it. A 2 hour long album, are you actually for real? I’m glad Emily sent a shorter version of the album, but it’s still too long. I know I should be talking about my thoughts on the songs, but the length of this album is bugging me so much. There are some bangers on this album, but this album isn’t really for casual listening. The Beatles were definitely better together, you know why? Because their albums were less than an hour and were able to be listened to in one sitting. Is it bad? Yes. But not as bad as Rock Bottom, so I guess it can have a 2.
Had a few good songs on it butdid not need to be a double LP with an 11 minute jam as the last track.
Sometimes I think my view on George Harrison and the Beatles is too harsh. To assign the band the idea that they're grandiose might be a bit much. Then Harrison makes a 2 hour album and I don't feel guilty anymore.
my favs are “beware of darkness”, “thanks for the pepperoni”, “let it down”, & “behind that locked door”. i really enjoy the electric guitars. rating 2.5/5
This is an odd one, as I’m confusing objectivity with my personal reaction. My objective side tells me it can’t be bad. I can hear the music is played well and I’ve no real issue with the vocals or the musicianship. The problem is the album ambles and flows in a way I simply can't connect with. I don't even hear the lyrics. Is it because I’m "right", that this is just an artist who was given a canvas and the money to get it mega-produced or is this a hidden talent I’m failing to appreciate? No idea.
..
There’s no need for an album to be this long and lacking in substance.
George Harrison is definitely a talented musician, but I really don't wanna spend 2 hours on listening to 70s pop rock. I'm sure there's some good music hidden here, but I'll let others listen to it for me, I think I'll pass.
nah
Troppo lungo, improponibile
Two hours of arduous, mediocre nonsense.
If this album was only "Art of Dying" and the instrumental stuff at the end, it'd be a 5 star album. Unfortunately, Mr. Harrison had a quality control phobia and thus we got a 2 hour long bloated mess.
Chill ass music
I got bored sorry george
folk
There's nothing actively bad on this album but nothing really stands out either and it's just so, so long. You could take half the songs out of this album at random and it would be instantly better. As a result, even though it's three star music, I'm only giving it a two.
Just not for me I'm afraid - I've heard people say he was the most talented Beatle but I just don't like his solo stuff
A triple album is great when you like the music. Unfortunately this is just too many boring songs for my liking. I definitely see the value in a few songs, but I would have liked this slightly more if it had a third of the songs. Soft Rock isn't exactly my style.
It‘s ok.
4/10
Some Beatles sound obviously. It’s just ok to me.
Blah blah blah
boring. never quite like the guitar style of the beatles.
This is better than any Beatles album, but no one enjoys triple albums, George. No one. I'm also not a fan of the religious elements on this. If I wanted to be prostelytized, I'd go to church.
I had difficulty passing this. This was a slog. A difficult, drab slog. Good for what it is, but to me it was uninspiring and far too safe. I’m not taking away anything from Harrison as a musician or as a former Beatle, but this was dull and far too long.
Barely mediocre.
2 1/2 album is too long.
My Sweet Lord is good. The other 99 minutes are not.
My Sweet Lord I finally understand why Patti left
George had a lot to say when The Beatles broke up, but this is excessive in all the wrong ways. There are too many songs, and many of them overstay their welcome. The Apple Jams are mostly uninspired filler despite introducing the world to Derek and the Dominos. And was it really necessary to have two versions of “It’s A Pity”? No, it wasn’t. The album simply can’t sustain the energy generated by its two hit singles, both of which are among the best solo work ever created by a Beatle and are amplified by Phil Spector’s sound (although that sound doesn’t really work with the overall folkiness of the record). Self indulgence is fine, but there needs to be a pay off.
Boring
Thankfully redeemed by Time Bandits. Just saying.
A bit too folk-y for my taste. Also very long
Lame
Too much of a slog to give a true, subjective rating. I finished it, but at what cost? Sorry George.
Just never really got into the man. I love every individual part, from the voice to the guitar to the basslines, but together it just slides off my noggin
This album is decent, it has some good tunes, but why the fuck does it need to be two discs, two hours with multiple versions of the same songs over and over? This is just utter wankery. Typical of post-Breakup Beatles. Harrison is a good musician, but the entitlement here is fucking breathtaking. Album just has waayyy too much filler.
Obviously way too long... Some of it was alright to listen to.
Found it kind of boring and poppy. Very saccharine sounding. Well put together, complex instrumentals and backing vocals. I couldn't finish it
What a fucking slog. Even the standouts aren’t that good. A waste of time and oxygen.
Great as background music, not much else. This is thanks to its excessive length and consisting of often mellow sounding songs. It looks to be about death and relationships. I like Art Of Dying for its high energy and decent lyrics.
Far too long
I'm glad to see from other reviews that I'm not missing something here. It's boring, not interesting, too long... Disclaimer: I'm not generally a Beatles fan, if that is a factor here....
This was okay. I didn't listen to the whole thing tho. A TRIPLE album??? That's asking a lot. Sorry, George.
The songs that I liked I really liked (All Things Must Pass, Art of Dying, and some of the instrumentals- though it helps I started drinking before I got here). That being said, it's not hard for me to notice that this is first solo album crammed with a mix of rejects from Beatles albums and anything George thought "good enough, put it in." The Beatles and the artists who made it happen are widely popular for a reason. George is very talented and I can recognize that even if the music of him and his former bandmates aren't my speed anymore. Like many artists, I can see why so many people love them so much. I still think this album needed to be trimmed down to be a little shorter. Maybe I need to take more drugs?
Oh my god, this was so long. A two-hour triple album solo project from 1970 is very on-brand for this 1001 album list. I don’t care if you’re a Beatle, this is just too much for a one-day listen-and-judge. I enjoyed this fine? My Sweet Lord was the only song I knew going in. It’s a nice song. The other standout for me was Wah-Wah. I read the lyrics after…it’s a Beatles/Paul diss track? It comes off pretty petulant out of context, but this reminds me, I never watched Get Back…I should go do that. And re-watch Let it Be. Anyway I still really liked that song. I think there was a good album in there somewhere but by the time I got to the instrumental jams I simply did not care anymore and couldn’t remember the songs I liked.
Let me get this straight. George Harrison leaves the Beatles then immediately releases a triple-album that is over 2 hours long and has 28 songs on it? And they are all mediocre? Yea, I see why this stuff didn't make any of The Beatles albums.
Che pero al final no cambió nada. Nota: 2.6
I thought "it's kind of meh and boring" four songs in and then realized this was a 2 hour album of this.
Who knew that not liking the Beatles would translate to not liking one of their solo projects?
pretty boring
So Beatley in parts. Did George provide the foundation for some of the Beatles' most swelling beds and choruses or did he learn this from being a Beatle? Overall, as I thought it would be. Some decent tunes but way to many that are uninteresting. A big old vomit of songs written over the years. I didn't find the magic. But better for trying.
As big of a Beatles fan as I am, the solo careers largely miss me except for John’s wanderings. I mean, they defined and stood above an entire decade, a bridge between early rock’n’roll and what it turned into in its various strands. What else is there to do when you reach that kind of artistic and societal, global success? Mostly it’s: bitch about each other and also return to the well and sing about love. Throw in a whole mess of spiritual concerns and you have the entirety of All Things Must Pass. I dunno, I’ve tried with this multiple times over the years, focusing in on a few tracks at points, doing the entire thing (jams included), seeing what GH liked enough to keep in live sets, etc. And the result is almost always the same: I want to listen to Abbey Road. George gets a lot of love for being the quiet one, which allows you to project anything you want onto him: deep, passionate, cute, hurt, wise, heartfelt, wide-eyed, gregarious. To me he just seems like a dude and as a musician one who benefitted tremendously from having collaborators either at or above his level. Preston and Voorman aside, they are not present here. I do admire the “wall of sound” approach revisited here by George and Spector and one can make a case it set things in motion like shoegaze. There are interesting songs and some melodies here and there are also several attempts at internalizing the drones of raga into the conventions of rock music - guitar, drums, bass, maybe some keys, vocals - yielding songs that don’t have many changes, if any. The lyrics, not unlike John’s, grow more and more basic, simple, to the point, but hanging over all of this is...he’s a freakin’ Beatle! It’s George! The band just broke up! He also really does not like Paul! As such, it’s hard to hear these songs separate from that, nor from the trends of the late 60s that his heroes/friends Dylan, The Band, and Clapton started or were in the middle of continuing. I dunno, one day I might find something here to go back to, but it really wasn’t until he hooked up with Lynne and co. that I heard something that best used his talents (to what end, well...).
pretty boring, sorry george
my sweet lord the only real banger
Not for me.
Too long and the songs sound more or less all very similar to one another. The religious songs did not appeal to me. It was not a bad album but the length, the decision to put on some songs twice in different versions, and the mushy mixing in many of the songs absolutely killed it for me. 2 stars.
Muzak basically 4/10
This might be the most Beatles sounding album of any non-Beatles album I've heard
Kind of just...boring music? Good for zoning out or ambience.
Nicht schlecht aber auch nicht spannend
It’s ok. Couple toe tappers suspended in fluff. When it’s good it’s good but not great, but when it’s bad it’s just ok. It’s a mild hot sauce without much to write home about.
It's just so boring. And so long. I fuckin hate the Beatles man
The album was good but it just kept going on, and for this exercise makes it tricky to stay engaged. The album is 2 hours long as it’s 2-sided, the music is generally good but sometimes a shorter album will leave you wanting more, this left me wanting less. 5/10.
Its pleasant listening but tbh, maybe too long. Fav = if not for you
Not really my vibe honestly. I’m a little bored by it. Nothing too bad to the ears, nothing I wanna skip, it’s listenable, just not enjoyable for me.

This was always gong to be a tough listen. I cannot stand The Beatles, and I despise double albums. I was not pleasantly surprised although the last part of this album is, strangely, better than the first.
**An ok album, maybe 5 out of 28 tracks had a different sound. Most sounded similar. Easy listening, no loud banging instruments. Pleasant but redundant.

Meh. I'm not impressed
it's such a long album, especially for someone not into the beatles. i get why it's in here hahahaha, but man does this album drag so much in the 2nd half, by the end it just feels like a jam session lmao. it has some good tracks tho. fav song: my sweet lord
Again, another 2 hour plus album. Any album 2 hours is more is just taking the piss.
Beatles never were my cup of tea really, this album has some good classic but agree with others far too long and too many B-sides!
Very very good songwriting, cool instrumentals. Still very old and boring. Just basic rock production.very cool cover art
Not a bad album, but not really anything that stood out. Too long for it's own good. 2.5/5
It was nice to listen to this and imagine my friends enjoying it
The music itself is good. But 2 hours?????? That's enough time to make the best album of all time a total slog to get through. Let's get some variety in there. I just don't understand why this needed to be so long. Self-indulgence? I'm not sure, but I'm not about it. 2 stars because this length is torture. If this album was trimmed down to even 1 hour, I could easily see a 3-4 star.
I get that trying to share the spotlight with the McCartney/Lennon duo was probably difficult as a songwriter but the way to work through that cannot possibly be a triple LP of boring Beatles songs
This was a drag. I think the most interesting thing about this album is the guitar sounds on My Sweet Lord, which is another one of those songs where i'm not sure if i actually like it or if i've heard it twelve million times. eleven minute instrumental to close out was a plus, imo.
This album runs long and would have benefitted from some cuts but overall it's not too bad. There's some good guitar and harmonica combos, you can hear the blues and Dylan inspiration throughout, but it's not anything I need to revisit. The whole thing is pretty mediocre. 2.35.
A lot of content here from the quiet Beatle. Not all of it was needed and like a lot of the lengthy albums on the list...could have been trimmed. Harrison is quite good on guitar though and has always been the deeper one of the fab five which is noticeable in many of the tracks. I recognized a few but preferred the lesser known jams at the end. Certainly came "Out of the Blue" so "Thanks for the Pepperoni" George but I'm more of a plain slicer guy...2.3.
Going in to this listen I expected a lot of this triple album would be skippable filler. While I don't think I'll come back to ATMP, I was surprised how competent it was. There aren't much in the way of high points or hits, but there also aren't many low points. It's a pretty solid collection of songs that do more than enough to prove that George was an effective song writer. While the inclusion of the Apple Jams on the back end aren't something I will revisit it felt good to get a slice of George's musical mindset in the wake of The Beatles breakup. I'd probably say that various cuts get a little too spiritual and holy, but I guess that's to be expected from George. Honorable mention to the songs that were co-written with Bob Dylan which were some of the strongest tracks. I imagine the release of All Things Must Pass was a huge and cathartic moment for both George Harrison and his fans alike. I've always liked George's influence on the band and will continue to hold him in high regard even if All Things Must Pass will get mostly shelved by me. I don't plan to re-listen to All Things Must Pass but I do believe I had to hear this album before I died. 2.38 stars
I don't doubt the talent, just not for me. A generous 2 stars for Art of Dying and Out of the Blue.
alrighty George, mi is kinda off with the vocals in the back but maybe that will figure itself out. This sounds a lot like an extension of Sargent Peppers. And if thats your thing, this album is like a goldmine. I'm sort of ambivalent on the thing. I am absolutely taking a star for making me sit through the Jam session.
Interesting, I would have never listened to it on my own.
I can't believe that we had to listen to a 2-hour album, but we are finally done. There was one song that was popular - My Sweet Lord, and the rest were half alright jams for background listening and half just meh songs. They all seem to have quite a lot of listens on Spotify, so the album definitely has fans but it was just overall a bit meh.
The music was okay. I didn’t really vibe with it. I guess it really wasn’t my cup of tea. I know I’ll never go back and listen to it again. Disc 1: 1. What Is Life 2. If Not For You 3. 2 uur. 2 uur!?!?!?!? FAVO: What is Life, If not for you,
I get it. He was a Beatle. But like... This needed an editor. Someone to tell Harrison that the good ideas here are being drowned with hundreds of wasted bars. This is considered a serious classic and I do not get it.
Not my cup of tea
Absolute shit
Far too long. Might have been enjoyable if cut down to a normal length
Pretty much unexciting to the kinda sounds that stir and excite me, sorry George, you deserve more credit .. 2 stars
Why is it so long? There are some late Beatles-y moments melodically and production-wise. Highlights: "My Sweet Lord" (earworm), "Isn't It a Pity" (nice piano work), "Run of the Mill", "Beware of Darkness" (seems confessional lyrics-wise and dramatic with the piano-based backing music)
Not nearly as bad as I thought it’d be! More or less insufferable when Harrison is actually singing, but fortunately, that’s not all that frequently. Two hours is pretty ridiculous though.
Never was a fan - still not - 28 tracks to listen too, no chance
Sigh. I can’t get into the vibe. And it was so long it felt like a slog.
A few highlights like "My Sweet Lord" or "What Is Life" but over all quite boring. Every single song is way too long and therefore the whole album is much too long! 2,5
Nice. 2,5
After 6 or 7 songs I felt like I had enough of the album. Had no desire to put myself through 2 hours of this
I like this better than Beatles. Not by much, and the length certainly doesn't help, but it's listenable Honestly, the last 30 minutes really tested my patience. Still don't think it's a 1-star level
Some good stuff, however there's an overall feeling of 'meh' that runs throughout.
lol @ 2 hours of runtime.
too long for no reason, it made all the songs kinda blend together. good background music though
The slide guitar is cool, but this is one bloated album of generally very similar-sounding songs.
Folksy and boring
this felt like 2 hours of Beatles B Sides - zoned out several times whilst listening.
Too long, too full of himself. Why the decision to have multiple versions of some meh songs was made will remain a mystery? A lot of this was a real chore to get through. Clearly the real songwriting talent did not lay with Harrison. Favorite: What is Life Rating: 2
some decent songs on here but hardly worth it for the 1.5 hrs slog of the original release.
Schrijven is schrappen!
Not sure I needed almost two hours of George Harrison
I don't want to continue, some nice songs but just boring...
Not so great. Overrated musician
A little bland
My Sweet Lord Isn't It a Pity What Is Life
Glad that's over. Too long and pretty boring.
Why is it two hours
so many double albums 😠
Nice guitar playing, boring vocals. Overall pretty bland
Nice not awesome
ok
Naja
One or two decent songs, but on this list because of who he is IMHO
Can't say I've ever liked this album. Mediocre. Terrible cover of Dylan's If Not For You.
So there are some classics here. Some meaningful lyrics and intense production. But writing good lyrics makes you a poet, not a songwriter. Don't get me wrong, there's gold here. But there's a lot of dross. Probably better with a relaxing herbal medicine.
first song in...this album is two years. i dont see myself listening to all of this. okay it sounds pretty relaxing so far. ill let this ride in the background while i get other things done
Not as good as I hoped. I have put this album off for so long because it is a 2 hour album, and I finally have listened to it, and its so meh.
Geo Harrison is a talented musician, but I really don’t like his music during this time.
i only liked the first song but everything else was mid
i wish this album would've passed a little faster
Idk it’s fine
I wish I could give this more than one day but I can’t! I must move on!
I doubt I'm the first person to say that this proves that Lennon and McCartney were right and Harrison had obviously bought a load of average songs into the Beatles rehearsals. If all double albums might have made a good single album, this triple album has a great EP in it.
Too mellow for me
Yea I passed on that one
Meh
He definitely proved he's not just that dude who was allowed to hang out with Lennon and McCartney. I would have liked this record better than John Lennon's solo records if it wasn’t way too long with way too much filler. Favorite song: Art Of Dying.
Enjoyable background music but otherwise way too long
Not my favorite album ever but still good. It has some fun songs on it. Very folky, it reminds me of being on a farm far away from civilization lol.
Not my favourite.
Fine songs, but entirely too long. It makes listening to the whole an issue
Deserves another listen some time. There's real talent here, but it didn't do much for me; I didn't vibe with it.
Not my style
The last few songs are a poor reward for trudging through an album that is as dreary and droning as it is long.
Boring and long.
It's really really good song writing, but it's not the kind of song writing that does it for me
George really needed an editor or a producer with some gumption on this one. A triple album? Really George? Pare it down and it's decent. But this is overwrought and disappointing. Some high quality musicians save this from being a total dud.
Entirely too long. Ridiculous. Also, I understand he was a Beatle but he can be told to tighten up the songs. With all of that said, the songs are good, but they dont need to be a jam session. Some songs will be revisited but never the whole album. If this album had not been two hours and the songs tightened up it would have been much higher.
Had been a three if it wasn't too long
like a few songs on this, but over all it felt like 6 different albums. A lot of the songs sounded like he was making his version of someone else songs. I feel like he was in search of his voice and he was searching for it by trying on others' voices.
Terrible
i have always hated this record oh despite the title its fucking endless
This was long. Plug Me In and Out of the Blue were the best. Not my favorite song writer.
Not really into post Beatles stuff.
Overall okay. Pretty samey, but overall pretty chill. Peaceful and tranquil, but not too many I'd listen to again, but a handful that are pretty good for sitting outside on the porch. Nice daytime feels, but a style that isn't too standout or me enough to be anything more than background music, or fine to hear through someone elses playlists; not for me to own. And also waaaayy too long. But that could just be because it's a remaster/rerelease, so I don't know if I can count that as a criticism or not
Thought it was fine. The highs were very high (My Sweet Lord, Wah-Wah) and the lows were very low (Apple Scruffs). If you love the Beatles I can see how one would like this album but I don’t love them so 2.5 stars from me for Mr. Harrison.
I don't really get the Beatles sleepy sound.
slow, chill. Likely won't listen again.
man, that got kind of boring.
ok
too long
you: "Mom, can we get The Beatles?" mom: "No. We have The Beatles at home." The Beatles at home:
i ain’t listening to all that.
Piecie rocknroll verder saai
I mean the Beatles were good...George on his own was mediocre. Loved the melodies and guitar but the songs got muddied together easily.
Not really anything better than very middle of the road.
The crown jewel of bloated albums. This could have been a great 30-minute album, but good old George decided that not only was a double album not enough, he was gonna do a TRIPLE album. The instrumental jam session is completely devoid of any cool ideas. It's just a random rockabilly jam session... and it takes up an entire disc. He's still the most talented Beatle.
Blimey, long album is long! Some decent tracks here - especially for 1970 - but by golly gosh there's some self indulgence about. "Let it down" is interminable. It could do with being 7 minutes shorter, and no mistake. I feel that someone, somewhere in the process of making this should have said "Look George, I know you were a Beatle, but I really think you should trim the playing time by about ⅔ here mate..." It's just too damn long. If he'd put this out as three separate albums he'd have got one very good album, one good album and a pile of dross. But it somehow made it into the wild being over two hours long. And that shouldn't have been allowed to happen.
Jeez that was long
Harrison's music is just less joyful and fun compared to Lennon and McCartney. His songs come of as being whiney to me. Isn't it a pity is probably the best song on this overlong album but some songs, particularly Wah Wah are just plain annoying.
Beatles but more folk like. Should be cut in half 2 hours is too damn long
If this wasn't an Ex Beatle I feel this would have no where the recognition it has. Mostly super boring "My Sweet Lord" was OK, the rest I just found dull to get through. 1.6
A tale of two albums. The first - two disks of roughly 90 minutes of demo material (i.e. songs that weren't good enough for John and Paul, but in actuality would have been improvements over some of the dribble and filler they routinely pushed out) on which George mostly tries to recreate the sound and success of either "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" or "Something". 3 Stars because at times he makes you feel like he just might pull it off. The second (titled Apple Jam) - roughly 30 minutes of bluesy acoustic studio jamming and a truly annoying birthday song. If the first album is full of b-sides, than these are equivalent to f sides. 1 star deducted. Overall, very listenable but hard to make a case for essential.
Ordinarily I would give this type of thing 2 stars, but for how long it has gone on for it will now only get 1.
Only thing I remember about this album after listening it is hare Hare Hare Krishna. That's not much....
This is better than Beatles, but that's not much...
Every song sounds the same
old man slop
Yeah, I listened to it. And I did not like what I heard...
Trash
Not a fan
There should be a law against this sort of thing.
I hate the Beatles and all of the members. I will not be listening to this
Beatles ama kötüsü xdddd
What a slog! A well executed and melodic slog but a slog none the less. Ringo was a vastly better album. I tried to frame it in the context of the times but then saw it was released in 1970. That year gave us Sex Machine, Bitches Brew, Loaded, Fun House, Zeppelin II Paranoid for Lemmy's sake! In a year of such groundbreaking and emotional work I truly fail to see how this qualifies, being a Beatle isn't enough.
Great songs for falling asleep but seriously I was about to fall asleep into the deepest sleep ever .😌 I might use this album when I want to have a good nights sleep and no I didn’t finishh it😀
All things must pass, except perhaps this triple album from everyone's second favourite Beatle, weighing in at 2 hours and 5 minutes on the remastered edition. Add George to the list of artists who apparently believe "more is more." At least any curiousity I might have had about Harrison's solo work has been thoroughly answered.
i didnt listen to this and i dont like music at all why would i care hftgf
DNF #ihatethebeatles
This is extremely overrated. Just like The Beatles themselves.
It's good but I don't want to listen to this stuff it's so aggressive
Hey do you want to hear George Harrison coo into the microphone for 2 hours to a backdrop of music neither exciting or interesting? I sure don’t. Are there some good songs in this? Probably. But I won’t be going back into the trenches of dripping kitsch
Why the frack am I even listening to this sheit?? How's this dribble in the top 500 best rock albums ever?? Has everyone lost their collective marbles?? Walk away while you can, nothing to be gotten here... PS: I dig love (2014, remastered edition, cd2), has nice stereo imaging. Still not great though 😂 PS: in regards to track 21, isn't it a pity, the answer is: yes, indeed, for there are 6 more tracks to get through. I hope mister Harrison doesn't quit his day job 🙏😔 Edit; 27, frack! Out of the blue I really dig a track here! Finally.
He checks ned ganz.
There were about 28 songs that shouldn't be in this album.
It's amazing what The Beatles achieved given the fairly generic solo material they all put out after the band split. Harrison was sued for the one good tune here, and the rest is over-played and under-cooked seventies rock fare. Nothing stood out, and much of it put me in mind of Oasis, which is not a great place to be.
Way too slow for my tastes, but it has potential. 2/10
I’d never heard All Things Must Pass before, and honestly, I kind of wish I still hadn’t. Phil Spector’s production is completely over the top, with layered choirs, orchestras, reverb, and enough guitars to bury anything personal or reflective. It feels like Harrison handed him a journal and Spector turned it into a Broadway finale. Even George admitted later that it was too much and tried to remix it. I get why some people love the grandiosity, but to me it smothers whatever sincerity might have been here. This project was supposed to reconnect me with music. Instead, it has drained my enthusiasm. If this is what “important” albums look like, I’m out.
-Wonky -Too yeehaw in a bad way -"Isn't It A Pity" is interesting
Not for me. 1/5
Boring and all sounded the same. Didnt finish this marathon of a snoozefest
didn’t listen
Beatles fucking sucks and so does every solo act from past members.
Meh
Yeah not really into this on. I know a song from this album but its just to mellow and not in the mood. I listen to disk and couldn't make it to disk 2. Hard Pass for me.
No, not for me.
Erm, what the sigma??
Liked Song What Is Life
Ok
I tried- but still not crazy about George
I have a visceral hatred of My Sweet Lord which has now expanded to the rest of the album.
Yet another unnecessary sampler from a now uninteresting artist. Regards to those in marketing who did this.
Album #10 I am not a fan of GH and this album is classic GH. I don't really have anything to say about it and the only word that comes to mind when I listened to this album was "Meh!"
Could not launch. Tried all day.
All things must pass...including this album
