Tender, meaningful, catchy, and unique. Every song on this album is good. I enjoyed listening to the whole thing. It is just missing something to make it a 5/5. I think I enjoy his peppier songs a bit more. Favorite Songs: I'd Have You Anytime, My Sweet Lord, Isn't It A Pity, What Is Life Least Favorites: Let it Down

Lots of great ideas but they are mostly too long, too unfocused, and marred by gross production to really shine. There is also an excessive amount of filler even if you ignore the disc of bonus jams. With some tight editing and better production it could have been a masterpiece.

Several very familiar songs that are longtime favorites from my youth, plus a number of songs new to me that I really enjoyed. A very fun listen.

Geo Harrison is a talented musician, but I really don’t like his music during this time.

This is an easy like Sunday morning album. It feels like being in love in the springtime. Definitely full of flower power.

Always been a fan of the Beatles and George was an amazing musician who was often over shined by Paul and John. His solo collection shows his talent.

Don’t love the remastered versions. They felt to homogenous. His voice is more interesting and satisfying in the originals.

This is a truly wonderful album. Every song worthy as its own entity. 'Isn't it a pity' is so stunningly poignant and beautiful it still brings tears to this middle aged man on every single listen. Is it a perfect album? Quite possibly. I certainly can't see how you could improve it in anyway. Is it better than any of the Beatles albums? Once again, in my humble opinion, quite possibly. And then, surely, this means it must be in contention for 'greatest album recorded'. If its not there, its certainly very very close...

Classic 70s. Really long album. the songs all sounded really similar. Not offended.

One of those albums I just can't be impartial about. It's one of my favorite albums. It contains "Run of the Mill", one of my favorite songs. I'm not crazy about the Apple Jam that makes up the final disc of this triple album, but that's not enough to knock it down a star. The songs that make up the first two discs are among the best ever written or recorded.

Great background music for walking the dog and wrapping presents. Instrumentals felt complex and really had depth, but the overall sound of the album was very same-same throughout (I didn't realize the album was repeating itself until I came back to the second song, when I recognized the lyrics). Would be great to enjoy in California, during road trips, and during physical activity when I need additional stimulation that I can choose to focus on or not.

I like George Harrison! I think he's got great musical ideas! But over 100 minutes for an album is too long! I couldn't finish this album! It would have been better if he broke it into two smaller separate albums, and he could have developed some songs more, made them more unique. If this album is a normal respectable length it gets 3 maybe 4 stars from me.

Another demonstration of why the beatles are the best band in history. You can see that each of the members was a genius who was not at the time. George Harrison shows that despite being the Beatle with the least spotlight, he could do great things. He puts out one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life and it's a beautiful album.

Bloated but good

For being as big of a Beatles fan as I am, I really have slept on a lot of their solo works, only really exploring the big songs. I knew a couple off this album but this was a new experience by one of my favorites and I really should have checked it out a long time ago. Not as tight as a Beatles album, but still really well written songs with great music. Also really dig all the jams at the end.

Rating: 8/10 Great album overall. A lot of great songs on here, the second disc was pretty fantastic in particular. Many catchy songs and melodies, although some songs do sound similar, especially on the first disc. This album would definitely benefit and be considerably stronger if it wasn't so long, I would personally take pretty much the second disc and the best songs from the first to make an absolutely stellar album. Favorite songs: My Sweet Lord, Wah-Wah, What Is Life, Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp, All Things Must Pass, I Dig Love, Hear Me Lord, Out of the Blue. Worst song: I'd Have You Anytime, Run of the Mill.

Waited too long to do solo Beatles, particularly this one. Became the soundtrack to an epic and sad trip around India, and convinced me that what John and Paul were really missing in their solo work was the melodic genius who put this together. Ignore the jam disc, you don't need it. Listen to the new remastered version and let the vibe of the most but also least ascerbic genius songwriter sweep over you. So much loveliness, so many great riffs that could have been insanely good Beatles tracks if not for ego

The long album length prevented me from listening to this earlier. It is pretty good, What is Life is one of my favorite songs on any of the albums we've got. The instrumentals and rerecordings aren't that necessary but aren't bad to listen to. Low 5.

George Harrison is now one of my fav artists. I dont think I'll listen to the whole album again front to back again but theres alot of songs on here that I really love. so good.

A lot of Beatles music seems pretty rambling to me, with a soft beat and not a lot of direction. Many of the songs on this very long album were the same. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the number of songs I did enjoy, not just the ones that were more driving, but also some others. George Harrison is a good musician, after all. I would definitely get bored if just listening, but as semi-background music it was solid. 7/10

8.5/10 - So many great songs but so many songs. There was only one or two I knew before going into it but a bunch of them were enjoyable. However, with as long as the album was they cannot all be bangers.

I do love George Harrison's music, and this is a lovely album. Such an interesting, somewhat sad yet sweet, path his life and art took him on.

Only 2 good songs

Quite simply the best solo album by any of the Beatles. What more do you need to know?

It's evident that George had something to prove with this album. It must have been hard to always have been in the shadow of John and Paul, but it could be worse, he could be Ringo! There are some great songs on this album, but there is also a lot of filler. No album needs to be over two hours long. I'm sure some poor record producer tried to tell George it was too long and would benefit from a good chop here and there, but I imagine George puffed out his chest, shook his head and said, "This is my time to shine".

Imagine being the third most talented member of a band and still having a hall of fame solo career. George made a whole album off the cutting room floor of his time with the Beatles - which is awesome, but also kinda sad when you think about how much more that band had left in the tank. Still, these are great songs in their own right and I don't think George gets enough credit for his impact on the Beatles' sound. He made that case pretty clear on this one. He's a good songwriter and a great guitarist.

Listened Before? No Album opens with a super clean bluesy guitar lick. Love the progression of I'd Have You Anytime. Had this in the background through the first 4, but it has been very enjoyable thus far. The songs sort of wrap around you like a warm coat. Isn't It a Pity is a long-form piece with orchestral flourishes. Too much in here to possibly dissect it all... Let It Down was a pretty one. Stripped down and tender. [begin rant] While I don't dislike anything so far, I think that 2 hours of any music is a hell of a lot to ask of a listener. Add also that they decided to remaster and re-sequence with additional bonus tracks... I really wish they would let albums just rest the way that they are instead of inserting additional bloat... [end rant] I'm halfway through and found that first set of sides to be really enjoyable. Crazy that this was a six-sided release on delivery. Man had a lot to say, I guess. I will say that there are a lot of different ideas presented here, but it is hard to say that 2 straight hours is ever justified. It just feels like a failure at the editorial stage and a stroke of overblown hubris. Pending any significant farts on the second half, this is a 4 / 5 for the quality of the sounds that Harrison put together alone. There is probably a 5 / 5 album in here, but I can't get past the excessive length without more experimentation to justify. Added to Library? Yes

Long boy album here. Definitely loved this album and considered giving it a 5 stars. I would give it a 4.5 at least if the option was available. Lot of great songs and some I didn't even realize was George Harrison. Really enjoyed the listen.

Had something longer written out but erased it, here's the gist: Long album. Spotify has the track listing all messed up. Really good music. Nothing innovative, but a very high level of musicianship in each and every song. Faded to the background a bit. 3.5 rounded up because this is a flawless, albeit not too exciting album. Probably too long for me to ever re-listen, but I feel like this really earned 4 stars.

Oh boy this is a doozie at 2 hours long. (Edit) only 1:40 after realizing there are bonus tracks scattered around in the middle of the album. I thought I was going crazy thinking that I had already heard some songs before. This album has a bunch of songs that I knew but didn't know where they were from. Not the albums fault, but Spotify having the alternative versions of the songs randomly placed in the middle of the album is criminal. That was a marathon which I had to break up into 3 different sessions. But overall a super enjoyable album with songs that were such easy listening and capped off by 3 straight instrumental jams to close it out. This was already a 4 for 90% of the album but then those three jams at the end raise this to a very high 4. Favorite song: What is Life

Widely considered the best album a former Beatle released, this album really shows how great of a songwriter George was. Sucks because some of these songs could've ended up Beatles songs. Also insane that he made this after the Beatles broke up and was still only 27! Unfortunately it's also insanely long and has some songs that just seem like filler compared to the rest. If he whittled this down to a single album it would've been 5/5 easy but alas, can't quite go there with a 4.5

Pleasant album. Sounds unsurprisingly similar to Beatles. In the end it drowns in waves of rock and roll.

I went into All Things Must Pass anticipating a 4 or perhaps even the coveted 5 star rating, but I was disappointed it didn’t give me those kind of feels. It’s more a reluctant 3 in my opinion. The singles are phenomenal but the remaining tracks, most of which I was unfamiliar with, didn’t have the same pulling power.

I have a deep and abiding love for George Harrison, the man, and the artist. His years of being the money behind Monty Python has given us important and enduring art. His work with the Beatles was foundational within modern musical culture. His work as a public human being and humanitarian set the mold for many many musicians with a cause to come after. I would have liked to meet the man and simply tell him thank you for all that he has done. All that said, as a musician, he's a better ensemble man than lead. It's a crying shame he got sued over My Sweet Lord. What is Life is as good as any song as he's written. The wall of sound approach on Let It Down is delightfully impressive. Apple Scruffs is charming. (I think it's about a dog, perhaps?) He's one of the best guitarists of his generation, and one of the best of all time. So much of this album is merely okay, and that's unfortunate. Listening to track after track of indulgent b-side material, I get that he wanted to express himself as a serious musician post-Beatles, and I admire that. This is one of those examples of recording work that could have used some editorial input. You take the best tracks on this double album, and you have a solid 4. His need to write all the things and record them after being held back by the Beatles' working relationship is absolutely understandable. The 11-minute instrumental Out of the Blue is a great example of what I'm talking about. I'm not remotely opposed to instrumentals, but this track is a meandering, untethered jam session. It's not a composition that says much of anything about Harrison's artistic viewpoint. As a cohesive artistic expression, these extras and curiosities bring this album down. His best post-Beatles work was to come with the Traveling Wilburys. At least, that's my favorite. (Can be argued to be better than his Beatles work with one or two exceptions.)

I've never listened to Harrison's solo work but man did I like this. I'd Have You Anytime immediately caught my ear and had it the whole album. Probably like the tune above, My Sweet Lord, and Let It Down the most. When I have more time, I need to listen to disc 2.

3.5 it grew on me as the day went on. I'm sure at the time it was made it was revolutionary but it just didn't really hit hard for me.

This album is way too long. Folk tinged rock. A few good songs but I got bored by the style before th album was half done.

Finally! The best Beatle, the one who has the best solo catalogue and is the best person, is being gifted to me today! Oh how I love George, and I’m so happy this band broke up so he could flourish artistically. John was an oppressive and abusive glory hogging prick, who could have learned a lot from George’s songwriting were he actually capable of all the peace and love he facetiously touted. Side 1 and Side 2 of the original release are absolute perfection! All of my favourite ever George tracks are here. But he didn't stop there, poor man was sitting on a deep well of creative energy that wasn't being tapped. This is his magnum opus, and it is a rare gem, a true sparkling beauty. Rest in power, George! You were a massive talent and what your music will always have a special place in my heart.

I doubt I'm the first person to say that this proves that Lennon and McCartney were right and Harrison had obviously bought a load of average songs into the Beatles rehearsals. If all double albums might have made a good single album, this triple album has a great EP in it.

The best Beatle

Streaming and CDs really do this album dirty. It's billed as a triple album but it was released as a double album with a bonus Instrumental LP (labeled as 'Apple Jam'). The 2014 remaster on Spotify also adds four bonus tracks to disc one and then ends with Out of the Blue which is supposed to start Apple Jam. Do yourself a favor and listen to this one as it would have been on vinyl. Each side has a great little arc to it. I'm looking forward to picking up a pressing because I can totally see myself listing to single records or even single sides from time to time. This is a ton of music on one album and I think it was meant to be listened to in chunks as much as a complete record. All in all the quality of the album is very high. Too many great tracks to list. I don't think I'll every do all three records again, but I'll be coming back to it frequently.

yall would rather listen to the beatles over this??? if it weren't for that final stretch of instrumentals plus happy birthday johnny (whatever the hell that was) this wouldve been an easy 5 for me. it's not perfect but i enjoyed it enough to put it up there. i think i'm still gonna give it a five ~anyway~ because the first like eighty or so minutes were pretty great. let it down and art of dying were the two biggest standouts for me.

So, in the interest of transparency, I did not finish this album. I think I have “Hear Me Lord” onwards to finish. In fairness, it’s over two hours long. Anyways. I generally like this. I wasn’t expecting to, but I actually enjoyed a number of songs. I think if I broke it up more I’d enjoy it a bit more, I did kinda get tired of it after a while. One song I liked was Art of Dying

The 1-2-3 punch of My Sweet Lord, What Is Life, and Awaiting On You All is really killer. I think if there had been a little more editing/sequencing of the trackless this could have been a really really stellar record for /everyone/ and not just beatles nerds like me. The Phil S 'wall of sound' production is still there, but the additions by the band and Clapton and George himself are also really stellar. Really enjoyed getting to know this record again and it gets a 5 from me though it's maybe barely over that line.

Enjoyed this a lot more than I expected. Albeit I didnt listen to the full thing, 4 hours is a bit much for someone who isnt a massive fan like me. Recognised a few good tracks from it; My Sweet Lord and Isnt it a pity being two of the better ones. Wah wah was a belter too. Reminds me a lot of Wilco at times (or should I say Wilco reminds me a lot of this). Agree with the other comments: this is better than a lot of what I’ve heard from The Beatles. Probable wouldnt rush back; but very good nonetheless. 3.5

Listened to the first two albums, felt like it was acceptable to skip the 'jam' album. George can feel hard done by that he wasn't allowed to include any of this in the Beatles as it was significantly better than most the album tracks, without having anything that matched the big singles. Generally more interesting and cool than the average Beatles song. Therer was an annoying number of reprises for an album this long, clearly wasn't interested in trimming it down. I enjoyed it more than the average Beatles album but I don't really like the average Beatles album, it was okay.

My Sweet Lord is, of course, superb. The rest of the album is decently solid, If Not For You stood out but the rest were pretty alright. A heavily-weighted 5 stars for My Sweet Lord, 3 and a bit for the rest of the album.

When I saw the 2 hour runtime I was dreading listening to it and had very low expectations. Surprisingly I liked quite a lot of it. While I did enjoy the last three blues guitar tracks, all of them out stayed their welcome. The album is far too long and in dire need of trimming down. It's a shame George couldn't include more of this work into The Beatles because this is a very good album. Highlights: My Sweet Lord Wah-Wah Isn't It A Pity What Is Life Let It Down

Was familiar with "my sweet lord" as my wife plays it all the time, but the rest was new to me. I quite enjoyed it. It's too long, but it was largely decent. Lots of religious themes too, which got a bit tiring. But some great guitar. You can hear the Beatles in there, which I suppose isn't surprising. "Isn't it a pity" pretty much had the nah nah nah bit from hey Jude! Highlights: My sweet lord Art of dying If not for you Not sure I'll be rushing back but it's good, better than McCartney 3.5. Probably would've given more if it weren't so long

To me, this album is George's loving letter to all the lonely people out there, offering them hope and promise of a better life through a more spiritual existence. Musically, I love the interesting melodies and little surprises tucked throughout. Not every song is great, but the good ones are so good that I agree, this album is a must-listen before we die.

Never listened to much of the Beatles past members´ own work, and the few songs I have heard were from John Lennon. So this was quite uncharted territory for me. I have to say I was surprised and impressed. It is VERY good! It contains the hit 'My Sweet Lord', but I find it overall to have very high quality songs, at least in the first half, with 'Run Of The Mill' being my favourite one. I actually wanted to give it 5 stars at some point, but when I consider that it's over 2h playtime and the second half doesn't nearly live up to the first half, I have to lower it a bit. So I think a 4 is quite appropriate!

I hadn't listened to this album before. Something is so calming about this collection of songs, it feels warm and relaxing. I knew the hits like "What is Life" and "My Sweet Lord" but the rest of the songs are good too. There are too many great songs to count and I think they really excel being played as an album as you get into the right mood. "Run of the Mill" and "I Live for You" stood out during my first listen. If there is anything bad to say about this album is that it is way too long, if it wasn't for it's length this would've been an easy 5 star. I am quite torn though as I can't really pinpoint any bad songs, it just continues for a bit too long. I'm really happy to have found this album and when listening to it more in the future I think this could easily be a 5 star.

There is a 5 star album in this assortment but it's just too long. If it was more cohesive I'm fine with length but this feels like two albums taped together at times. What is Life and My Sweet Lord are both incredible. I really like George and think this as a response to The Beatles ending really shows how much of the band he had become. Decent album, needs edits, some fantastic songs.

First bit of the album sounded like the Beatles to me. Beware of Darkness I like, I hear a lot of 90s music in there, but I like this more. Okay here we go. Apple Scruffs might be my favorite song. Apple Scruffs sounds like the kind of thing that gets us to a Daniel Johnston eventually. Again glad this exists, might even put it on again in the future. It goes a little off the rails towards the end, but I can't complain. It's a lot for just one day, some of these songs have growth potential. I feel like I can hear all of his influences in here and the ones he influenced.

There is absolutely no reason for first draft versions or backing instrumentals of songs already on the album to be included on non-box set version of albums. With that being said, this album is brilliant otherwise. Especially compared to the other solo Beatles albums in this book, it confirms my long-standing belief that George was the best Beatle. This is the type of folk music handling that draws me in. I really, really love the arrangements throughout the album. Favorite tracks: What is Life, Thanks for the Pepperoni

I haven't listened to any of Harrison's solo stuff, but I imagine it's not going to be too far off from the normal Beatles sound. I imagine a bit slower and more melancholy. It's what I expected but I am liking it more than I thought I would, very easy calm listening. Putting me in a relaxed mood. Reminds me a bit of Young of course. Oh wow, 'Run of the Mill' is a Harrison original..... surprising I've never heard this before. The band Deer Tick covers it and I thought it was one they wrote. Great song. This album was crazy long, had a hard time focusing near the end. overall decent.

I was sort of dreading this listen once I saw the run time of this album. Over 2 hours is a lot to ask, and it's definitely too much here, but aside from the sheer amount of music here it was actually not too bad to sit through. I didn't need the repeated tracks, and maybe they weren't there on the original album. But there are a few bonafide hits on here. I probably never gave George Harrison enough credit as a Beatle. This feels as 70s-singer-songwriter as it gets, and if you're a fan of the genre and willing to skip around a bit, then it's definitely worth your time. Highlight: My Sweet Lord Lowlight: Wah-Wah Surprise Hit: If Not For You

I enjoyed listening to this. However, is it a good *album*? Well, it's too long, the tracks are varying quality and it ends with several long instrumental tracks that basically feel like jam sessions. If the beatles were beetles George harrison would be a north american black beetle (i forget their official name, much like i do with the name george harrison) because usually i forget his existence until he shows up on the floor of my kitchen and then i appreciate him from a distance but im not as impressed with him as i am with the more flamboyant beetles nor do i know what instrument he played in his band exactly. The album generally recognised as the best Beatles solo effort, and I can see why. Released in 1970, just seven months after the Beatles broke up, it is characterised by George Harrison's signature slide guitar, Phil Spector wall of sound production, and themes of love and spirituality. It is instantly recognisable as George Harrison, but more Beatlesy than I had expected and is even Lennonesque in places. It is badged as a triple album, although there is a debate to be had about whether the third disc, ‘Apple Jam’, should be considered part of the album or whether it is merely a bonus disc. I personally consider it the latter as it literally is half an hour of jam sessions. It doesn’t fit the rest of the record and whilst the musicianship if excellent, it feels a bit pointless. I understand that it may have been included to more quickly fulfil a contractual obligation, which is a shame. 2/5 for Disc 3. Disc 1 is where it’s at. Side A comprises four our really nice songs with spiritualist themes, including Harrison's biggest solo hit, My Sweet Lord. Side B is the love section and the standout part of the album. It comprises five songs about romantic love from a variety of perspectives. My favourite is 'If Not For You' - a beautiful, simple, innocent love song. I really like the lyric and must remember to check out the Bob Dylan original: "If not for you, the winter would hold no spring, couldn't hear a Robin sing, I just wouldn't have a clue, If not for you". I also particularly like that 'Let It Down' is a song about wanting to be in your lover's hair tent. An easy 5/5 for Disc 1. Disc 2 is more nice Harrison songs with similar themes. A bit of a drop off in quality from Disc 1, but still decent. 3.5/5 for Disc 2. It’s a shame that Harrison didn’t release Disc 1 and perhaps a couple of the strongest tracks from Disc 2 as a single album. Overall it is still an excellent double record, but the single album version would have been an all-time masterpiece. The third disc further dilutes the portion that is exceptional, but I’m pretending that doesn’t exist. Rating: 4/5 Playlist track: My Sweet Lord Date listened: 05/11/23

I really enjoyed the album, especially when Harrison's distinct guitar style mixed with slide and steel guitar country influences. I listed to it on Spotify, which included some of the 2014 remasters but appreciated more of the stripped back original tracks in comparison (eg Beware the Darkness). Quite liked it, and a few really good ones! Some did get a bit samey.

It's shocking to me that, growing up obsessed with all things Beatles, I've somehow gone 53 years without ever listening to this album, George's magnum opus. Well, better late than never! It really is a great album, showcasing George at his best. It must have been so refreshing for him to move away from the sitar and Indian-influenced experimentation and get back to his roots. It's a great album, although it maybe could have used a bit of editing to get it down to a more reasonable length. 4 stars.

Fun fact - the newest Beatle’s track is released today. I like a bit of George Harrison once I’m listening to it, but never relish the thought. Soz George.

Atmosferical, relaxing

10/10 I feel like George Harrison doesn’t get enough love I know his contribution to the Beatles discography wasn’t as prolific as John or Paul’s, but he still has some really incredible songs in there but what makes this album so special is that his talent gets to be front and center he holds nothing back as he shows you his complete and honest self in the most artistically creative way possible this album has always held a special place in my heart and I sincerely hope more Beatles fans would give this a listen

I enjoyed this despite not being a Beatles super fan. There were some really good melodies and the song that stuck out to me was I Dig Love, which was fun. Overall a mellow album for a quiet day.

He definitely proved he's not just that dude who was allowed to hang out with Lennon and McCartney. I would have liked this record better than John Lennon's solo records if it wasn’t way too long with way too much filler. Favorite song: Art Of Dying.

Album plays like a recipe. There's Oasis, Bowie, Dylan, all here and there. And like a recipe, a good long waffle about shit all. George, dude. Why use lot song when few song do trick?

Weirdly long album, lots of krishna

The highs are mesmerizing. Standout songs are “I’d have you anytime” and “Run of the mill”. However, due to that 2+ hrs runtime, it can be a slog to get through all at once, and I found myself waiting for it to end. Still an amazing album and I’ll listen again but in sections.

This one blew me away. Even the “bonus disc” of instrumentals was great. It’s a serious compliment to hold my attention for 106 minutes and at the end I’m disappointed there’s not even more. Best Beatles solo album by a landslide.

I liked the first half, wasn’t a fan of the instrumentals

What can I say about this seminal album except that it really needed a better editor? Always a fan of George Harrison and discovered this epic album early in my musical journey, so it holds a lot of meaning for me, but upon listening again after a long stretch, I now realize I mostly love the first half or so. Lots of beautiful, heartfelt, stunning tracks, but lots of filler tracks that I find myself wanting to skip. This album is not, as Sum 41 put it, all killer, no filler. Favorite track: I Live For You Least favorite track: Out of the Blue

Enjoyable background music but otherwise way too long

Classic tunes, lots of hits onthis album. Certainly hear the Beatles flavors coming through.

For his first solo album, George gave everything he had and more. It must have felt so liberating to release these songs without having the pressure that was coming with the iconic Lennon/McCartney duo. And to be honest what George releases here is stellar, pretty much everything is on par with his latest Beatles compositions like Here Comes the Sun and Something. But there's two things that prevents me from giving it a 5: the cute but ultimately pointless jam side and the fact that he could have trimmed the album a little. He could have saved some of the songs to release them on a followup album instead of laying everything he had all at once. But it's still indeniably a classic and easily one of the very best solo albums from a Beatles member.

Epic album from the a Beatles who had been carrying his unreleased songs around in his suitcase for years. The result is wonderful with some of the best songs of his career. Unfortunately, the third disc is pushing it too far with more pointless stuff that could have become bonus tracks.

It's kind of funny how quickly Paul dismisses George's ideas in the Get Back documentary. I think it was the song Something that George was showing the band for the first time, and their reactions are all just, "meh." George had a lot of ideas that were more or less blown off by the band, and maybe that was for the best. I think a few of them make it onto this album. Some of them are brilliant, others, not so much. A double album (triple album for the initial LP release in 1970) is bold, no matter who you are. There needs to be GOOD reasoning for making your album 2+ hours long. And while I don't think the runtime is earned here, this really is a monumental achievement of a record. All in all I’d say this is the best post-Beatles solo effort. This album has some of my favorite guitar work, maybe ever. It separates Harrison from his pre-existing legacy while helping create a new one. George was always an incredibly underrated songwriter, and I think this album proves that. Unfortunately he wouldn't go on to top this, as most of his solo work is entirely forgettable, but this certainly solidifies the idea that George didn't need The Beatles to be successful.

All Things Must Pass, some take longer to do so than others.

A little long

To think that GH created this album at the tender age of 27 … The last song recorded on Let it Be was GH’s I Me Mine (ha!) and then GH releases ATMP!! The cover speaks volumes of what GH must have been feeling when he released it … three toppled garden gnomes and GH in a chair …, first triple album in Rock History simultaneously occupying both #1 Album and Single an amazing and influential work!!

Learning from additional reading, Clapton was involved in this album and in each other's lives to the point where Harrison's wife, Patty Boyd, marries Clapton 9 years later and everyone remained amicable. The famous song "Layla" is about her and was released the same year. The rift between Harrison and Boyd was starting by this time, due to infidelities, infertility, and Harrison's interest in Indian religion. I think you can feel that in this album - loving someone but not totally happy, accepting something but looking beyond it hopefully... It's even outwardly said in "Isn't It A Pity"

Excellent album! 5 out of 5. Interesting to listen to early versions on Beatles Anthology and Get Back projects. Of course, if you hate the Beatles and 60's and 70's, you won't like this album.

A beatle and a slide guitar - what could be bad?

Fun time hanging out with the hippies. He got a bad deal on the My Sweet Lord case.

This album is long. When I saw that 100 minute length, I got a little scared. I was worried I'd be stuck listening to an hour and 40 minutes of nothing. But once I played that first song, I knew I had something special on my hands. Truthfully, this album is worth every second of its runtime. George might not have been the most prolific or popular member of The Beatles, but everything he was capable of shines through here. There is probably so much I could say about this album, but I'm bad at talking about individual tracks. Overall, this album just has so much love in it, and it warms the heart. Most of the songs are softer and more chill. It is an excellent blend of pop rock and folk rock. But there are also some bangers on this, like Art of Dying. Or pretty much the entirety of the E and F side. I like how bluesy and jammy those last couple of songs are, but I don't know if they really hold up to the rest of the content on the record. Honestly, it might be overplayed, but just listen to My Sweet Lord once and you will understand why this is so special. Rating: 8/10

Boring. Wholesome. Did I say boring? Also, wholesome. Neither of which I enjoy. Is it technically sound? Yes. Is it objectively good? Sure. Will I ever play it again? Not unless forced or otherwise coerced.

This was my first time listening to this album in full and it definitely meanders a lot, especially with some instrumental breaks that feel a little too long for my tastes. It all ends up dispersing the impact of the album somewhat. There are some very high highs in here, however, and lots of great soundscapes. I prefer the heavier tracks overall; that distortion is so crunchy and satisfying. Favourite track: Art of Dying

From the ridiculous to the sublime. It's hard to think of a stronger run of opening songs than the first six on this (any of which would've improved Let It Be), and yet the two best songs - Beware of Darkness and the title track - come later. All Things Must Pass is my funeral song and maybe contains the best lyric of all time - daylight is good at arriving at the right time, it's not always going to be this grey. It loses out on the big five for being a triple album that could have been a great double or up there with the best single albums of all time, but God it's great.

George you quiet little Beatle. This is a superb album that showed how much George enjoyed Hinduism and the slide guitar. It has fun catchy songs. It has good rock songs. It has deep ballads. It’s everything you would expect from a good Beatles album. It’s one of the best solo Beatles albums and a great album in general. This is a must listen. 8.5/10

One of the greatest albums of the early 70s, All Things Must Pass is three records of the kind of music the Beatles couldn't even imagine making. It's pop, but it's also psychedelic. It is rooted in the British Invasion, but also Indian Mysticism. It's one flaw is that it is a record too long. The Apple Jam side has a lot of, well, jams that may not appeal to everyone. That said, the first two sides are absolutely brilliant. The next two sides, which include alternates of some of the side 1/2 songs, is merely great, and sides 5/6 are not for everyone's tastes but, if they are, also great, in large part because they presage the jam band era by 20 years.

One of my favorites

3.5 Wonderful melodic tunes. The pent up creativity can be felt. Unleashed in a colorful, tuneful slide guitar lines and well-micced acoustics. Still, most songs hew pretty closely to pop structures and I would have liked to hear more experimentation, although the three disc album does get there at times, notably with Out of the Blue. But yeah, overall a great album. However whe you put two versions of the same song on an album… well, come on now. Love the descending chord moves that the Beatles loved so dearly in their later years ala While My Guitar Gently Weeps, and they are all over this one. Close to a four, but I don’t know if I’ll be adding it to my library

Isn’t it a pity how long this is? He could have made a beautiful and perfect single disc album if he’d focused on perfecting his better songs rather than including two versions of Isn’t a Pity. All of it was enjoyable and gets a high score, but just not as high as it could have been if the project had been more focused. Loved it as always. 4/5

I am not a Beatles fan, or a Harrison fan. I love my sweet lord, but nothing else connected with me. I'm giving this a 3 because I recognize that the greater world loves the Beatles.

The album sounds like my perception of George Harrison. Musically very solid, but no unique selling point. Back and forth between "Does not bother me" an "Seems to be close to greatness, but that certain something is missing". Admittedly, rather the former than the latter.

Spectacular songwriting displayed throughout.

There are few albums that qualify as masterpieces, yet "All Things Must Pass" is one of them. Just over 50 years on, it still stands as a magnificent record. To think this was Harrison's first release in the aftermath of the biggest band in the world's breakup is even more stunning. Always in the shadow of one of the greatest songwriting partnerships in musical history, the quiet Beatle announced himself as a musical force in his own right with this triple album. Harrison's stature allowed him to invite collaborations with some of the best musical forces of his era or all time, for that matter. The result is simply one of the greatest LPs of all time with the statistics and achievements to support that claim.

Very good album! I had forgotten what a great songwriter George Harrison was. I really enjoyed the alternative versions of "What Is Life" (backing track/alternate mix) and "My Sweet Lord (2000)".

BL: this is an album that has a level of infamy for me. Despite never listening to this one it’s been regarded as one of the greats for the longest time, my dad loves this album and I know plenty of others have that know me. So it’ll be interesting to hear the album of a post-beatle that isn’t Lennon or McCartney AL: wow. What a listen. This was truly a white whale of an album. Being such a long record but keeping consistency is such a feat. While some lyrical content is simplistic the wonder contained within it is emotive enough to make up for it. Absolutely loved this, probably on a running for my favourite album of all time within the first listen. All of the guitar parts and the mixing is absolutely superb. Boring and long.

A phenomenal album, full of great tracks and a regrettable third disc that is lame. This is the backlog of George's music from writing in the intense creativity hotspot of the Beatles' recording studio, but overshadowed by the prodigious output of John and Paul. Those years of behind the scenes writing and only getting a couple songs onto Beatles albums gave us the crystallization of the best ideas he had over that period in this album. If only the Beatles had found a way to work stay together, I can't even imagine how these tracks would have developed without all their input. Amazing stuff.

Best Song: My Sweet Lord. The catchiest, most clear and resonant chorus. Glad the best song was the second track in a 2 hour long album. Worst Song: Behind That Locked Door. Just not interested in this plodding honkytonk. Overall: Albums this long annoy me. Were all of these songs good enough to make it onto the album? This listener says "No". Sure there are a few decent tracks littered throughout, but it mostly just sounds the same as one continuous note, and it betrays a disdain for editing that I don't like. If you're going to put out a project this large, make it cohesive and grandiose. Try to do something really difficult with it. Don't just bulk upload to increase quantity.

Á aðeins erfitt með þessa plötu, því hún er svo mikið notuð til að hamra á elsku Paul. og að mínu mati er Ram a.m.k. jafngóð, en þessi er líka frábær. Saxófónarnir mjög vel nýttir, mixið áhugavert, gítararnir mjög flottir og Ringo góður. Instrumental platan er augljóslega síst, en Out of the blue er þess virði að hlusta á oft.

Good things in life mostly are simple. In this sincere approach to simple beauty George has found his path which may lead you towards lengthy ways through his existentialistic garden. We find a lot of known patterns pleasing to the ears, dwell in the rustical halls where the wild sounds live and stroll over meadows of dreaming tranquility. It‘s a nice trip and I hope to find something new where I assume having already seen everything. 3.7

# 48 : I am a Beatles fan, that's why no solo work will ever get 5 stars in my view. In saying that, some of the songs on here are mega, whilst others are just so so. A lot of "B sides" that just lack the production of a truly great 5 star album. Close, but not close enough :-) What Is Life

While George is not considered the greatest songwriter of the Fab Four he is still a pretty damn good songwriter. And I think he was their best musician and he demonstrates that thoroughly on this album. A great listen top to bottom.

3/5. Bigger doesn’t mean better. This 2 hour anthology has a few good tracks especially towards the end. My favorite was Behind that Locked Door

First I need to clarify the length of this thing. The eye-watering 2hr 5min version on Spotify is the 2014 Remaster which includes 20 minutes of bonus material. So take that out. Also the album was originally released with a 28 minute bonus album "Apple Jam". So if you don't like jam-music, think of it as skippable. I think of it as a bonus. What remains is 1hr 17min of sweet tunes and gentle melodies. Consistent quality throughout. In my opinion, the best of The Beatles after The Beatles. If you don't like the fab four, this won't be for you.

Album featured a lot of different styles, from folk rock styles to more conventional rock to spiritual chants and hymns, along with extended blues jams. Songs were good in general, with some of my favorites being Isn't it a Pity, Let it Down, and Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let it Roll), but album felt really bloated, especially with the long blues jams at the end. Overall, the album wore on too long and some of the lesser songs took away from the highlights.

always meant to listen to this. its yonks long tbf. T1 that soundscape is gorgeous. T2 what I have learned is that I cannot and could not differentiate the voices of the different Beatles. this could be Paul 'ball is life' McCartney singing and I'd be none the wiser. Also who tf is on the boards this sounds amazing. album cover makes me wanna go visit avondale tbh. Holy fuck hear me lord is such a vibe. A way more atmospheric album than I expected. I did not listen to the apple jam disc tracks but I feel I will be likely to revisit this album to explore them. Out of the 2 post Beatles solo albums I have listened to (ram on being the other), this is the best by a wide margin. FAVS: Let it down, Beware of Darkness, Isn't it a pity V2, Hear me Lord. What a fucking vibe of an album. Turns out if you just listen to the tracks from the original version it is much much less than 2 hours long. I feel like I might feel differently upon revisits, but perhaps it still is a bit bloated. If it were only the best tracks it could be a 5, but instead I'll give it a high high 4. Great album. deserves to be on the list
