Easy 4, not quite a 5. Pleasant album, fun and bouncy but the love songs get repetitive. Not really an album in the modern sense but a collection of love song singles - Frank! - So suave. This is dancing music indeed - Very fun, at least a 4. May need many listens to fully appreciate. - On a 2nd listen, the whole ‘I love you so much’ gets a bit tired. Fun at times, but how many ways can that be said. Easy 4, not quite a 5
Enjoyed listening to this. Lots of classics. Some have aged better than others.
You can totally see why he was special
Classic after classic
Franks got a fab voice. Songs tend to blend together but anything goes is extremely memorable.
One of the rare occurrences where I can rate an album high without listening to it first. Sinatra is a guarantee for really good and sophisticated music. Songs for Swingin' Lovers takes you back into the late 50s like few other pieces of media can.
I know he’s kind of a novelty and as common in NY as rats, but on a sunny fall day this hit. Ridiculous album title lol
That was a beautiful listen. The instrumental is gorgeous and the voice and delivery of Frank are iconic. I obviously knew already "I've Got You Under My Skin" but the whole album is such a joy to listen to. Another artist that I will listen more often. Also such a joy to have Frank Sinatra playing while cooking and eating breakfast!
reminds me of fallout. i love this kind of music.
What can you say, it’s great.
Yeah it's a run on album but I'll be damned if it wasn't a foot tappin', finger snappin' great 45 minutes. Incredible for almost 70 years old.
Frank is just cool
Listened to this while unpacking boxes in my new flat. Perfect accompaniment.
Really good music
One of the greatest singers of all time.
Hearing Frank always puts a smile on my face.
How can you not feel good after listening to such a tight package as this?
Velvet smooth vocals, and definitely one of his best collections. Ideal Sunday morning music
Was pleasantly surprised I enjoyed the whole album. Frank does have a beautiful voice.
yess
What a classic, and what a voice. You don't hear them like that anymore.
Fun album. Maybe I’m sentimental because I got it on my anniversary, but I liked it a lot.
I love a bit of swing music and Sinatra is just that guy. He sounds so good even if all the songs start to sound the same. I’ve Got You Under My Skin is phenomenal and a major highlight of the album! Great stuff!
fun!
Pure perfection! Sinatra's velvet voice coupled with these American songbook classics are an unbeatable combination. Put this on the next time you're chilling with some wine or hosting friends for dinner.
Reluctant to give another album of this era such a high rating as I do it every time... but they are all so substantial. This case of course is no exception. Incredibly well crafted arrangements and lyrics, with one of the greatest voices of all time on top.
Growing up, my grandmother loved Frank Sinatra and this is one of the albums she plays on her couch-sized phonograph. I rejected Frankie, because he was so "old" by which I meant, pre-rock. Now I love his voice, but much of the overbearing big band backups I never cared for. This is just right, the horns accompanying, not overpowering Frankie's voice. It's a keeper. 4/5
You know what this was pretty good
Sinatra is a legend. Will say that a lot of the stuff on here had the same sound/vibe, but I don't hate it!
So good. 4.5
Ol’ Blue Eyes. Crazy how charismatic this man was. As big as Elvis. As big as The Beatles. The archetype of the 1950’s class and style. The music was easy to digest and 40 minutes flew by. The style of music relies heavily on the same tricks of start, stop crescendos but each song sounds distinctive of the next. I’ve heard the hits and never bothered looking into his discography but this album is nearly perfect and will definitely seek out a physical copy as it is a must-have. Consider me a fan.
Perhaps not as ambitious as most other albums on the list, but while primitive it is still a very pleasant listen. There’s a certain innocence in a lot of the music of the 1950s and early 60s, which I honestly adore
His tenth album. Jazz. Peak Frank as he seems to effortlessly belt out songs in his style. A very relaxed, whiskey sippin' album to chill out to. Great arrangement on the album too. What more can you say ? It's Frank.
This is pretty good. I would need to be in the mood for it.
8/10… big band / swing
This album begs for the crack, hiss, and pop of vinyl. It's very much of its time while also feeling comfortably familiar and timeless. You Make Me Feel So Young, Old Devil Moon, and I've Got You Under My Skin all added to Liked Songs.
ma divota!
Certainly nothing to complain about here. I love having an excuse to end up on the Cole Porter Wikipedia page. Good stuff
Call me a swingin’ lover the way I enjoy this album!!! Super high quality swing music from the king of the voice frank Sinatra himself, not a single miss and from the 50’s too is just yumm
There’s a reason why people glorify the 50s, and Sinatra is apart of that. Such a dynamic voice that is backed by a sweet swinging jazz band. No misses, just a great well rounded album.
THE voice. It’s all said! 👍
I can see how this is a great album. It felt so classy and yet so warm. So happy and yet so far. It was a peculiar feeling, but a pleasant one. I liked it a lot. Not exactly my cup of tea, but it's a good one. For me, it's an 8.5 mini0n, 11/09/2025
Throughout my album journey, I have noticed an inevitability that certain artists whose legacies have withstood the test of time will receive at least one or two inclusions in the books. Case in point, Frank Sinatra, often regarded as one of the greatest singers of the 20th century, got two albums included. To be fair, Songs for Swingin' Lovers is a pleasant little record. Sinatra's sultry voice and Nelson Riddle's bombastic orchestral arrangements made for a potent combination of ripe textures to these traditional pop standards. Renditions of the likes of Cole Porter's "Anything Goes" and "I've Got You Under My Skin", as well as other cuts such as Josef Myrow's "You Make Me Feel Young" and Burton Lane's "Old Devil Moon" come off as smooth and delectable as butter. That said, it made for an album experience where Sinatra and Riddle stuck to a formula that certainly worked, but didn't push the envelope any further. Also not helping matters were a few instances of the cover selections having language that aged weirdly, such as Walter Donaldson's "Makin' Whoopee". Still, Songs for Swingin' Lovers proved to be a mostly classy good time. I am certainly curious about the other Frank Sinatra album included.
As a full record, this is not really a cohesive piece. The reason I give it this rating however is because I feel relaxed while listening to it. Every song passes me with a slight warm impression and that's enough. Sinatra sails through the night and gets the job done. That is enough for an honorable man (7/10, 4/5 on this scale)
Canciones favs: you make me feel so young, too marvelous for words, pennies from heaven, I've got you under my skin, I thought about you, anything goes
Frank's so classic. What a voice on the guy. The album has to be one of his most famous, with a handful of classics including one of my favorites: Makin' Whoppee. It's hard to give it a 4, but I also in just don't feel it's a 5, if only because there isn't a lot of variety, and a lot of the songs are covers- not uncommon to the era. Even the album name, "Songs for Swingin' Lovers!" feels more like a compilation than an original piece of work. No Sinatra hate here. 4.5 would be perfect!
You know, there's something so cozy and nostalgic about Frank Sinatra's music that I don't really find in other artists from the 50s and early 60s. I don't know what it is. The fact of the matter is that I really like Songs For Swingin' Lovers! This album's great. This and the other Sinatra album I've gotten, In The Wee Small Hours, paint two different pictures of his music. ITWSH is more somber and bittersweet, while SFSL! really leans into the the whole swingin' thing. Honestly, they're both great. It turns out that it's possible for one man to sing different styles of songs, and oh boy does he sing these songs. I think it's his singing that gives me the nostalgia. His voice is just wonderful. I love it. Of course, none of these songs were written by Frank himself, but I think he does a great job of picking the right songs to sing. Too many songs from this time just feel degrading towards women, so it's nice to hear Frank Sinatra sing nice love songs. Nothing in here has aged too poorly, which is great to see. The jazz instrumentation here is excellent. The swing style is done effortlessly and I love it. This is just a nice album in many ways. Frank Sinatra is just cool, okay? 4/5.
Arguably Brian Griffin's best work
They make it sound so effortless
Classic for a reason. Perfect for singing along to
Sinatra is timeless. The whole crooning era, the music, the mob. It’s just pleasant all the way round.
Well, I know this album well. His voice is so smooth and gorgeous, and it’s almost but not quite enough to overcome the ‘you pretty girl , I’m your man and I’ll complain if I don’t get you’. Can’t argue with the voice, have to argue with the era. But we’re on our way back to that, aren’t we?
The music of my parents and in law's generation
What an absolute pleasure to listen to. Sinatra has one of the silkiest voices of all time and this is definitely an album that can be played and listened to over and over again. Not too many of his biggest hits are here, but that doesn't take away from the album at all. I hope we get some more of his work soon. Also I really want some Italian food now.
This is the first record I ever bought on vinyl. I bought it for my wife for our anniversary. She loves Sinatra, so it was my way of saying hey let's get a record player. It was a bit of a selfish gift if I'm honest. 3 years later we're still listening to it though! This album is that classic big band Frank Sinatra sound. You know what you're getting before you even start listening. There are a couple of his big hits on here, but if I'm honest all the songs sound pretty much the same. That's not a bad thing since I love that sound. I just can't justify 5 stars with that flaw.
bold to put a fallout radio mix on a top 1001 albums list but whatever it is good enough i suppose
If sex was a music genre. I got pregnant just by listening to this album. Fave song: I've Got You Under My Skin Honorable mention: We'll Be Together Again
> The Beatles
Beautiful songs. Didn’t make my lover and I want to swing though :/
I'm going to be frank, I like Frank.
I like this kinda 50's stuff
Sinatra en uno de sus mejores momentos. Me gusta más cuando está triste, pero no se puede decir que intérprete peor este tipo de canciones.
The Chairman of the Board! Lots of love songs....
Always like anything by Frank Sinatra This wasn’t one of his best albums but I still like it.
One of Frank's best ones. I've got you under my skin is iconic. Nelson Riddler's arrangements are perfectly suited for Frank.
Classic Sinatra but gets pretty tedious by mid-album. Better arrangements of some of the songs can be found elsewhere. But, sets the mood back to the 50's and 60's for dancing, boozing, and smoking.
Sinatra had a super pleasant voice. Made me travel back to the 50s, very nice and smooth.
Classic and classy. Not my favourite Sinatra's album, but that only proves his great output.
No i to jest w końcu stary dobry Sinatra. Każda piosenka to klasyk i płynie się po nich jak po najlepszej fali. Gość ma głos jak jedwab, czuje muzykę i no jest profesjonalistą w każdym calu. 8/10
Very nice. Love Sinatra. Nothing to say except that this sort of music holds a certain kind of nostalgia for me. vocal delivery is great (naturally, it's sinatra), the big band instrumentals are great, still even now. songs start to sound a little same-y near the end. 4.3/5
so enjoyable
What a voice, what a collection of love songs; more frank in the rotation
Pretty pretty solid!
Swingt.
Ol' Blue Eyes doing what he does best in front of a microphone. The less said about what he did off stage, the better.
Relaxing album, upbeat and nice big band feel. Franks voice and delivery really works here. I think the only thing keeping this from a full 5 stars to me is the lack of anything really personal in it, if he had written these I think it would have been better
All-swing set from the legendary crooner. Well-performed and produced, this is the classic Sinatra sound.
Frank Sinatra was so charismatic that it's charming to hear him sing about "making whoopee" and liking potato chips.
going to start a wave a digging into his music more. so timeless
Frank Sinatra mit seiner unvergleichlichen Stimme, und der Sound dazu - toll.
Ja, wirklich für Swing Lovers, ganz cool!
Hold up pretty smooth like butter go Franco. I can’t listen to this all the time, but I can see putting it on from time to time out salad. I would listen to it again this is all voice to text. It makes absolutely no sense crooners for higher.
Pleasant easy listening
Classic shit. Sounds great. The kind of thing my wife comes into the kitchen and hears and goes "This is a nice vibe!" Of course we both know a lot of these songs from them showing up in endless rom-coms. To be honest, I think that is still their best environment; 45 minutes straight of songs like this gets tiring and offers diminishing returns. But each of these songs on its own is pretty awesome. So I suppose it easily qualifies as a must-listen album. #182
Chairman of the board
As I'm getting older I enjoy music like this more and more. The tracks are really excellent on their own but as an album it's a bit repetitive. But I will be adding more Frank Sinatra to my longer playlists.
best date album ever
Actually a couple of songs that I knew! Great big band sound.
Its a classic
Liked this one. "Songs For Swingin' Lovers" indeed. Love me a good cheesy love song. Best song: You Make Me Feel So Young Notable(s): You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me, Anything Goes
I was fairly disappointed in the other Sinatra album I got on this list (the one with Antonio Carlos Jobim) but this one was a lot more like what I like and expect from Sinatra. This was very enjoyable, his voice is clear and great as ever the instrumentation is fun and overall this is a good time.
A little syrupy for my tastes (with very little in the way of nuance), but the melodies are undeniably great. 3.5/5.0: Very Good
great songs, great voice. a little too much frank all at one time
Perfect for driving through the Scottish countryside
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing 🕺
I found it a bit twee but seems mean to give this a three as its a smooth listen from start to finish and that's how things were at the time!
This Sinatra guy has a good voice, he's got a bright future ahead of him.
I mean, it's a classic.
Somebody needed to tell Frankie that you don’t have to rhyme every lyric to make a good song. He has a great voice though
Like an incredible bottle of red wine, warm and velvety. I don't always feel like red wine though, and I can't drink too much in one go.
You’ve got to respect Sinatra. Every song is a perfect dinner party jam.
Enjoyed this great mix of Sinatra songs
Recomiendo.
Prime Frank without the baggage of the greatest hits I am so used to hearing brings out the vibe of this record.
Tää toimi yllättävänkin hyvin. Just semmoista kliseistä 50-luvun hienostelu ravintola swingiä josta tulee nimeltä mainitsematon peli mieleen. Rentoa. Parhaat: You Make Me Feel So Young, It Happened In Monterey, I've Got You Under My Skin
Iconic and catchy. 4 stars cause it's a bit repetitive by today's standards, and i won't be seeking it out. But it's easy to see why it's a classic.
So many classics and love the smooth voice of Sinatra.
Okay, so yes, this album is basically 15 songs that sound the same. But it's so joyful, pleasant, effortlessly easy listening. Favourite track: I've Got You Under My Skin
Tight enough in its lyrics focus that this ALMOST feels like an early concept album? I liked a lot of these, and although it can get a bit one-note you've got to remember the time it was made! strong 3.5*
Great lp
There's a reason Sinatra was so popular. Does get repetitive
Smooth. Old but gold.
You Make Me Feel So Young - 5/5 It Happened in Monterey - 3/5 You're Getting to Be a Habit With Me - 4/5 You Brought a New Kind of Love to Me - 4/5 Too Marvelous for Words - 4/5 Old Devil Moon - 3/5 Pennies From Heaven - 4/5 Love Is Here to Stay - 3/5 I've Got You Under My Skin - 3/5 I Thought About You - 3/5 We'll Be Together Again - 4/5 Makin' Whoopee - 4/5 Swingin' Down the Lane - 4/5 Anything Goes - 4/5 How About You? - 5/5 Average score: 3.8/5 (rounding up)
Classic Frankie. He exudes timelessness, and it all feels so easy. The band is really into it too.
Definitely a master of his craft, this album is still a good listen almost 70 years later. Excellent voice, framed by calm and understated instrumentation (which could be more interesting - that's where the fifth star would have gone). As I'm nearing the end of this list, I see I didn't enjoy two of his other albums as much, almost 800 and 900 albums back. Not sure if this one's better, if you need to be in the right mood for Sinatra, or if my tastes changed in the last 3-4 years. Anyway, simply a good listen.
3.5 - Good
All of the songs kind of blend together, but I didn't mind. I could listen to Sinatra sing the phone book.
great listen , really enjoyed it
Love me some Sinatra!
I listened to this album a bunch of times when I was obsessed with Swing/Jazz in my teens. I loved it back then. Frank has a great voice and there are a lot of good songs here, but it definitely feels a little samey throughout. It also feels a lot longer than it actually is because of the amount of songs. There isn't a bad song though. They're either okay or good. 7.5/10
I’m a big Frankie fan
Wouldn’t want to live in a world without Frank
I love swinging Sinatra. This is great!
Fun music to listen to that I haven't been exposed to before. The sure kept the songs short though!
Listens: 3 or 4 Standout tracks: Old Devil Moon, Too Marvelous For Words This is the king of crooners. My grandfather loved Frank Sinatra; couldn't understand how anyone could listen to any of the "music you kids listen to" when I was a kid in the 90s and 2000s. I get it now. I understand his perspective. Sinatra can sing, for daysssss. My only gripe is that this album, is how every goddamn song is about him loving some woman. Trying to bang her. Infatuated with her. She's a drug for him. He'll be her slave. The only thing that redeems the album from this point is that it's expressly "Music For Swingin' Lovers". The entire point of the album is to have these kinds of songs. It's basically a concept album and the concept is utterly loving women. I have no idea if there will be other Frank Sinatra albums on the 1001 albums list. I also have no idea if literally every song Frank ever sang is about a woman. It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest, but I sure can hope that one day I come across a song that is about literally any other topic. It's still a 4.
от хеппи нью ирского вайба не отделаться. жаль что альбик попался летом, а не зимой...
Cute album
:) Suena a navidad Muy largo
I don’t think I can describe this album any better than the title does: “Songs for Swingin’ Lovers!” It perfectly captures the upbeat, jazzy vibe. The opener, “You Make Me Feel So Young,” is the top highlight, but Sinatra puts his spin on lots of classic tracks here. This was an absolute pleasure.
One of my favorite things about the voice as an instrument is that it's kind of actually magical. Some people just naturally have good pitch, and some people have a naturally attractive singing timbre. You could have told me that Frank Sinatra came out of the womb crooning with both of these qualities and I would believe it; his voice just seems so naturally gifted even when compared to other greats. An underrated aspect of these songs from this era is that the lyrics are great and filled with cute little punch lines. I could be wrong but I don't think that Frank was the songwriter on any of these, so credit to the people who did write them. Really enjoyable. 4/5 for me.
Well, it’s kind of hard to know what to say about this album because Frank Sinatra’s name speaks for itself. If you’ve never heard of him, then you’ve probably been living under a rock your entire life. This album shows the more jazz and big band side of Sinatra, and like always, his vocal delivery is expressive, confident, and suave. His phrasing and timing are absolutely impeccable.
more up in my alley, easy to listen to, does not overwhelm me
Incredible album - has bangers such as You Make Me Feel So Young, I've Got You Under My Skin
Lots of great songs on here. I do find some of the songs start to sound repetitive though which keeps it from a 5.
Great voice nice choice of songs
This album sounds like my childhood to me
Put on your smoking jacket, pour yourself an ice-cold martini, and then put this record on your turntable. Classic crooner music..
Great love songs! Love Makin' Whoope!
Great. Classic Sinatra, good lyrics.
Classic!
The lyrics are interesting because in this era they almost sound clunky but they must reflect the speech and writing patterns of the time. Also, there is such an emphasis on rhyme - pretty much every verse in every song follows a simple rhyme scheme that you only hear in pop or rap nowadays. It's very homogenous but I don't really desire anything else from Sinatra, and in fact it means the album perfectly achieves its purpose as "mood music" - where every song sounds similar enough that you could play the whole thing through and never kill the mood.
Those sure were songs for swingin' lovers, which is something I am not.
(A6/V7)
Classic smooth listening Sinatra
Chad 4.5
8 out of 10. Maria Man sang good love song
Un clásico. Punto y final. Mejor que leer, escuchar o bailar
Better than Coldplay.
Ahh old blue eyes! I love me some Sinatra! Actually the whole rat pack, dino, Sammy! All of them! But this was a good album a very focused album of live songs that he gives his own spin on obviously! But I've only ever listened to his like greatest hits but this was a good one!
Well well well. If it isn't some wife beating music. Im joking but only kinda. This is music that I would see tony soprano rough up one of his girlfriends. Maybe that Russian one with the peg leg mom. But all jokes aside it's Sinatra. That's all. From the get go it's exactly what you would expect. And it's good. All around. Not really my favorite thing but i enjoyed my time pretty thoroughly.
There's something just so happy about the way Sinatra sings, and I've always enjoyed it. My first college roomate sang and played a lot of Sinatra and so I've got a soft spot for this music. A lot of great songs, including a great cover of I've Got You Under My Skin. Excellent album and totally worth a listen.
Thought I was going to hate this but actually didn’t dislike it at all! Happy, easy listening songs that made me think of the old 50’s films I love. Nice voice and that cheeky smile on the album cover made it a winner for me 😉
full of classics honestly.
So confident! Sinatra of fashion nowadays but he was great at what he did. 4.1
just so very classic. effortless and his voice is so clean docked because the songs sound very similar
No one's loved and lost like Frank.
Didn’t really listen closely but had it in the background of the cafe while I worked which was nice
Third time's the charm. The other two Sinatra albums on here left me cold, while admiring their craftmanship. This is just spot-on and advances son's theory on why jazz from the forties and fifties sounds so good: playing an instrument was a route out of poverty as well as a vast industry. So we're hearing the tip of a very large pyramid. Rather like watching Premier League footballers. Because the musicianship on this album is frightening. An all-uptempo album takes out at a single pass most of what I dislike about Sinatra and swing, leaving the fabulous playing under his cool cat phrasing. Only track that outstays its welcome: We'll Be Together Again. These are all miracles of concision and thus have to be under four minutes.
smooth af
Love some good Sinatra, his music is almost always amazing to me. I don’t know if this is the definitive album that I would use as an example, but it is very good. I’ll say four out of five for this one.
Sinatra osaa... mutta ei lemppari genre,, ei huutele 5 star genre syö tähden,.,, mutta ultimate respec silti
Big band, 1950s sheen, very enjoyable and easy listen. Probably not his best album of all time but I can't imagine rating any Sinatra album less than 4. 4/5.
Just wonderful.
Some charming ditties Perfect for a glitzy night Of romantic fun
Absolute classic
swing at its best
While I don't expect any of this album to be part of my daily listening rotation, Frank Sinatra's crooning and the jazzy stylings of this album made for an enjoyable listen. Listening to this album felt like I could envision the set pieces of a romantic movie from the 60's. I value music that can give you an experience that can fully envelope you, even if it's not something I will go back to regularly
Classic originals and covers by Sinatra
Classic Sinatra when he was at peak.
Great album to throw on while just doing things, such easy listening. His voice sounds so effortless over these tracks. I think swing really complements his voice and makes it stand out. He’s got some huge songs on this album and by no means are they the only good ones. Stand outs: You Make Me Feel So Young, It Happened in Monterey, Old Devil Moon, Makin’ Whoopee, Anything Goes. I had to check and our modern definition of the word “swingin” came to prominence 8 years after this album. So looking back now, this album title is just so funny
His voice is iconic. Can’t help but enjoy it. The instrumentals is what kept me engaged though. Don’t get the back and forth between singer and band like this much anymore.
Pretty good.
Great
Lovely old school
Was really fun to listen to!
He is so down bad and me fr fr
Some of his absolute best. So effortless.
My jam. I dig this one.
I mean Frank Sinatra had one of the best voices of all time, so this is great just for that reason alone. His music isn't really something that I'd listen to very often but every time I hear Sinatra, I'm glad to be listening. This album is good, but I think this is one of the rare occasions where there should have been just one Sinatra album on this list, and it should have been a double length best-of. The problem with this album is that, even though the songs are great, none of them really stand out from the rest. They do all kind of blend together as others have said. But to his credit, I listened to Sinatra for a while after this album was over so he gets points for that. 3.5/5 and will round up to a 4.
It's okay every song sounds similar but throughly enjoyed it enough, his voice sounds angelic but just not the biggest fan of jazz i guess
Frank Sinatra is always a good choice, but he’s got better albums than this one.
A legend.
This put me in a fantastic mood to start my day
Classic
8/10. Love frank
Smooth, great vocals but not super interesting. It was a nice mellow album to listen to while working. 7/10
I wish you could have all seen Angelina's face when she walked into our office and saw me snuggling with our cat and listening to Frank Sinatra.
It's like really good vanilla ice cream
It's pretty good.
finally a 50s record!! i mean, Frank Sinatra's music is a classic for a reason, and this album is no exception. his voice is smooth as butter and the production sounds incredible. though i have to say i'm not really a fan of his more downtempo renditions of songs like "Pennies from Heaven" or "Anything Goes", but maybe that's just because i'm more familiar with uptempo versions. it all kind of blends together in an easy-listening sort of way, but honestly this type of music from this era was designed to do just that, so i can't really complain. sounds like the soundtrack to a 90s rom com lol
This was pretty cool, great singing, great songs incl. the lyrics, and most of all a great orchestra performance.
This one felt like It Happened In Monterey. Was almost Too Marvelous for Words.
Nothing to hate about this at all. The musicians on this record sound great, Frank's voice is the definition of smooth and the songs just flow very well all-round. I'm not a fan of the opener, but that might be because it's been played to death. I knew a few of the songs already before listening to the album as a whole (for the first time) and was afraid it might just sound old to me and I won't be able to get into it much, but I gotta say I really enjoyed it!
Alright
Feel like this has to be played on vinyl while drinking champagne with a 10/10
Golden voice in his prime. This is a book of standards. Captures the zeitgeist.
He has such an easy way about him. Floating through, enjoying life, and performing for the crowd. It’s feels much more about the listener enjoying the song than about him oddly enough.
I prefer the previous outing (in the wee small hours) but frank and Nelson Riddle knock it out of the park yet again. Standards perfectly suited to Sinatra. Totally enjoyable - even the songs they have been heard too many times to count.
Love sinatra
Ain’t too bad
This is a brilliant album.
Franktastic
82% Best: You Brought A New Kind Of Love To Me; Pennies From Heaven; We’ll Be Together Again; Makin’ Whoopee; How About You? Must-Hear? Sure
You know what to do Frank, keep doin' it to me
Classic Sinatra. I am not a fan of him as a person, but he sure had pipes.
For as old as this is, it hold up pretty well. You could play it at a wedding and nobody would complain. Many of the well known Sinatra songs
Frank Sinatra was such a charmer! Finding another artist that had the same amount of charisma is almost impossible. The personality he brought to swing and jazz music... there was nobody like him. His voice is so unique and captivating. That being said, as my group member accurately pointed out, this album is rather one note. But to Sinatra's credit, the songs are beautiful and so easy to listen to. I wasn't bored one iota. I enjoyed this so much that my 3.5 is rounded up.
Very smooth and relaxing music. I listened to it while being on the train and it was quite an awesome experience.
cute
Interesting but feels outdated
could see this as a 5
Pre-listening thoughts: okay Frankie let’s see if you can sing standards better than Ella Fitzgerald (unlikely) Post/during listening thoughts: while I personally don’t think Frank Sinatra’s voice had the emotional depth Ella Fitzgerald’s did, he’s got that silky crooner quality ala Bing Crosby that is impossible for me to dislike. Every song just rolls off his tongue with such ease. The big band arrangements are fun, and complement his voice well. I think I really enjoy pop/vocal jazz from this era. Even though they all sang the same damn songs. I really liked this but shoot I just prefer other people’s versions of some of these songs. 8/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: ya know I think everyone should hear at least one Frank Sinatra song but maybe not the entire album Fav tracks: You Make Me Feel So Young, Too Marvelous For Words, Love Is Here To Stay, I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Swingin Down the Lane, How About You? Least fav tracks: Pennies From Heaven (they could never touch you Louis Prima), Anything Goes (they could never touch you Patti Lupone)
Can't go wrong with Sinatra
Love the way Frank sings a song.
Sinatra at his finest. Nailed on Cafe Kelvinos material
Синатра хорош конечно
Classic crooner.
This makes me nostalgic for a time I wasn’t alive for

I like the happy go lucky I'm having fun and trying to get laid Sinatra allot more then the sad "In the wee hours" Sinatra.
Today, the sound of big band swing and suave jazz vocals is practically synonymous with Frank Sinatra, but when Songs for Swingin’ Lovers! first dropped, this style was more closely associated with Black artists like Nat King Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, and Louis Prima. Sinatra didn’t invent this sound — he borrowed it, polished it, and sold it back to America with a grin and a raised glass. It’s impossible to ignore the racial dynamics at play: the swaggering, urbane style Sinatra rode to career-defining success was built on foundations laid by Black musicians who rarely received the same accolades — or paychecks. Sinatra needed a reinvention after a shaky run at Columbia — and this album gave him one. Partnering with arranger Nelson Riddle, Sinatra didn’t just record a set of standards but also built a whole persona. The Sinatra you picture in your head — tailored suit, cigarette dangling, half a smirk — that’s this Sinatra. Sophisticated but never stuffy, romantic but never sappy, confident with just enough vulnerability to keep it interesting. What’s striking is how easy this album is to love. Every track glows with charm and confidence, epitomizing the “Swingin’ Sinatra” sound — brassy, bold arrangements that walk the line between elegance and swagger. Riddle’s orchestrations are a masterclass in dynamics: playful horn stabs, gentle string swells, and a rhythmic bounce that propels each song forward. Sinatra, in peak vocal form, moves effortlessly between flirtation and heartfelt romance, phrasing every line like it’s a conversation whispered across a candlelit table. His mastery of close-mic technique — a relatively new approach at the time — gives these recordings an unusual warmth and intimacy, even with a full orchestra at his back. The album’s biggest moment — and maybe Sinatra’s career peak — is “I’ve Got You Under My Skin.” That slow-burn arrangement, the building tension, the sharp brass accents, and Sinatra’s immaculate phrasing turn a simple love song into pure cinematic drama. But the brilliance doesn’t stop there. “You Make Me Feel So Young” captures the giddy rush of new love with irresistible bounce, while “Too Marvelous for Words” is charm distilled into three minutes of effortless swing. Even slower moments like “We’ll Be Together Again” show Sinatra’s gift for understatement — he doesn’t oversell the emotion, he just lets it simmer. Songs for Swingin’ Lovers! wasn’t just a personal triumph — it helped redefine what an album could be. Instead of a loose collection of singles, this was a cohesive statement: a fully-formed mood, a curated experience from start to finish. Arriving just as rock ‘n’ roll was rewriting the rules of youth culture, this album became both a pinnacle of sophisticated pop and, in some ways, its farewell. And yet, its influence echoes far beyond mid-century cocktail bars. From the orchestral pop grandeur of Scott Walker to the crooning confidence of contemporary artists like Michael Bublé — who made an entire career out of imitating this schtick — the template Sinatra set here still shapes how we think about the “male vocalist” persona. Even artists outside the genre — from Nick Cave to Arctic Monkeys — have tapped into Sinatra’s blend of bravado and vulnerability. Even if ‘50s pop isn’t your usual thing, this album’s sheer charisma and melodic brilliance make it impossible to resist. Before rock made rebellion the default, Songs for Swingin’ Lovers! proved that charm, swagger, and a perfectly timed wink could be just as dangerous.
ah, the smooth vocals of ol’ blue eyes. so good.
C’mon it’s Sinatra. There’s no downside to it, although I’m pretty sure “swingin’”meant something else then.
Anything Goes
classic Frank, baby!
It's Sinatra — how bad can it be? Not the most mindblowing stuff in the world, but a beautiful relic from a time when craftmanship was a central part of pop musiz.
I can't imagine a scenario that wouldn't be improved by having this on in the background. Cooking? Check. Palm Springs Pool Party? Check. The end credits of a rom-com? check. Swingin'? DOUBLE CHECK. Speaking of, would you just look at this album cover? An apparition of 'ol blue eyes creepily looking at a couple that's clearly seconds away from get'n it on. I wonder if Diarrhea Planet wrote the song Ghost With a Boner about this album cover.
I really like Frank Sinatra. I think one of the key things about him to me is not necessarily his voice, but how well he uses it. He always floats notes in the perfect slot around the musicians. I know he was known for redoing a lot of takes, and I think it pays off. You can almost see how he is dancing around the instruments with his voice. That being said, although there were a lot of great songs on this album, it is unlikely I'd ever throw it on. Even in the most romantic of settings. Let's be honest, I'd only need 1.5 tracks worth of time anyway. 3.5-4/5 I'll go with 4/5.
Great voice, can't hate it.
p30. 1956. 4 stars. The great American songbook, with Frank and Nelson on top form. Absolutely timeless. Point deducted for a lack of any real variety though.
If you want some jazzy crooning, Sinatra's your guy.
Smoooth
Before starting this journey, I did not know I would enjoy Frank Sinatra but I do :) Brings you to another dimension and time and that's what you want from music
Very likable. Frank doesn’t oversell or schmaltz it up too terribly much. His voice is strong and clear and more fluid than elsewhere – perhaps the effect of enjoying himself, which he seems to be doing. So many excellent songs – ”Under My Skin,” “Getting to Be a Habit,” “I Thought About You,” “Makin’ Whoopee,” and “Anything Goes.” One's not a Sinatra fan generally (preferring Tony Bennet), but this is his best in one's view.
I've never listened to a full Sinatra album but have heard some of this. I think this album shows his voice off to great effect and also what a showcase for his song interpretation. And hats off to Nelson Riddle as the arrangements are wonderful. I really enjoyed this. Favorites: You Make Me Feel So Young, Too Marvelous for Words, I've Got You Under My Skin, I Thought About You Would I listen to it again: Yes
Good stuff, bunch of songs that I enjoyed
👍
penis from heaven 🤤
Classic.
fire. love frank
Undeniable. But Songs for Young Lovers is better
Nice change of pace from previous albums. Can't go wrong with Blue Eyes.
This is the Sinatra I've been waiting for. Decidedly not lame like the other selections. Still not exactly my jam but a good time.
80 percent sure that "You brought a new kind of love to me" is about him exploring a dominatrix style relationship. "You brought a new love to me I know that I'm the slave, you're the queen Still you can understand that underneath it all You're a maid and I am only a man" It's nice to listen to old music like this. It left me feeling pleasant and like I could easily buy a home making minimum wage, pay 100 dollars for tuition, and support an entire family as a skilled laborer. Take us back, Frank. You dirty old pervert.
I love Frank Sinatra!
Sometimes I wonder if these albums were just thrown on here. Like, do they get proof listened to when someone makes a suggestion? Do they have to maintain a certain ranking or they get eliminated from the list? This is a great swing time album. You have to like that. This is classic crooner music. You have to like that. This is a great big band album. You have to like that. It’s not a great album when out against some of the more known “must listen to albums”. I think there are better Sinatra albums out there. Listen, you know who Frank Sinatra is, everyone does. You will either like this before you listen to it or you will skip it. Plain and simple. I enjoyed it, I knew I would. Choice cut: You Make Me Feel so Young
Mag die Stimme und Big Band von Sinatra. Gut produziert. Leider keine originalen Lieder und n bisschen too much. Meine Sinatra Favorites hier nicht vorhanden.
I want to make pancakes to this music and spin around the kitchen . Great arrangements and smooth phrasing.
I think I listened to this 6-7 times before finally reviewing it. Solid work from Ol' Blue Eyes
Crazy that there was a time when this was new. And even now, it's kind of magnificent.
Enjoyable experience
I'm a bit of a swinger myself!
Most of the tunes sound similar to one another, but there is just a happiness I get when listening to Sinatra. It is hard to describe, yet I think it is a universal feeling.
First few songs are pretty boring but then it gets good
Thoughts before listening: I like Sinatra in general all though I haven't loved the other albums by him on this project. Maybe Frank is just a greatest hits only type of artist for me. Review: Okay so this is the sound I want out of Sinatra. Playful crooning over well arranged swing music with easily relatable (albeit slightly cheesy) lyrics. It's very enjoyable to listen to, and there are some absolute classics on this album. 4-stars
Most of the songs sound exactly the same but it's still good
Some absolute classics on here and no denying that voice. But what the hell is 'makin whoopie'???!!!! Goes from a 5 star to a 4 just for that track. 'of the times' I'm sure?
banger
What can I say? Lots of great songs by a great singer
Just classic Sinatra really. Lovely brass runs with muted trumpets, dreamy vocals, gentle swing rhythm section. Favourite tracks: It Happened in Monterey, Too Marvelous For Words, You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me ... honestly it's all just quite good and solid.
It’s Frank Sinatra
Standard 50s love songs, easy listening
# Album Name: Songs For Swingin' Lovers! # Artist: Frank Sinatra # Rating: 4/5 # Comments: This was a much better album that his wee hours i have previously received. Musically, the album is great. The quality of the arrangements is fantastic. Sinatras voice, well, not much to say. He is relentless. I love his voice. Its extremely powerful. The sex appeal oozes through this album. Theres some good songs like got you under my skin and you make me feel so young. A negative about the album is the length. It feels way too long and samey after a while. Which is a shame. But overall a good album, however, not quite top tier for me. Jazz is always a funny one for me but i did enjoy this one. # Top Tunes: under my skin and you make me feel so young # Would I listen to it again? Yes
The man, the boss, the voice, the blue eyes ... Sången är världsklass, klar femma. Men arrangemangen ... snacka om jazzstandards. Svag fyra.
Pleasant! 4/5
Essential classic
Wouldn't even have to listen to this to rate it. Say what you like about him, Frank was the greatest - the Godfather of Crooners, often imitated but nobody had "that voice" - he was what he was in a different era and generation to today.... he wouldn't have been Frank if there wasn't the edge and controversy behind him in his life. Every track on here a classic. More comebacks than Elvis? probably. If I could see an artist no longer with us on the planet it would probably be Frank (& Jimmi!)
Banging tunes!!
WAY better than the last one (wee Hours). Couple of all time classics in You Make Me Feel So Young and I've Got You Under My Skin. Just too many songs (15)
电影感十足
You Make Me Feel So Young I've Got You Under My Skin
I mean it’s frank sinatra
crooner classics!
Great American Songbook, Nelson Riddle, Tin Pan Alley, repeat ad lib…. Anyway great album
exactly what you'd think it'd sound like and STILL really good
Frank Sinatra has such an iconic voice and with it comes all the nostalgia of the 50s and 60s. It’s not the sort of music I would listen to regularly but when it’s on it’s easy to listen to and enjoy. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 due to his connection with the mob. 😂
Frank Sinatra's voice is amazing - its just a shame its not singing music that I enjoy! I'm still giving this a 4, because even though its not my personal cup-of-tea the musicians are amazing and it deserves to be on this list. I class myself as a lover, but I can't see myself coming back to this album.
Good album. Smooth. Sinatra at this best.
bastante monótono por momentos pero i'm just a girrrl !!!
Overall good. Great singing.
I love Frank Sinatra honestly. This put me in such a good mood.
I liked this quite a bit more than I expected to. Easy listening, great voice, solid instrumentals. Reminds me of my grandparents.
Classic Frank!
If I'm listening to Ol' Blue Eyes I'd opt for a greatest hits album. Good music all the same though.
The Good: Swinging lovers getting some much needed attention! The Bad: Frank probably not knowing what that kind of swinging is all about… The Ugly: imagining swinging swingers on a swing… ‘50s relax ‘50s “innocence” ‘50s showing why there will never be another Frank Sinatra Hate to admit it, but this stuff is just soooooo nice to listen to as background music, that I played it 5x in a row by accident. 4*
smooth, easy listening. okay frankie, i see you.
though i myself am not a "swingin' lover" nor do i want to listen to a song specifically about "makin' whoopee," this album is a nice, fun listen and great to have on in the background while doing just about anything. the songs all sound pretty similar but at least it's a good sound, and they're all about 2 1/2 to 3 minutes, which is excellent. let's bring that back as a society, huh? favorites: you make me feel so young, love is here to stay, i've got you under my skin
Beautiful production and vocals. A surprisingly comforting album I can kind of just play in the background. Each song sounded pretty similar and and there wasn't much distinction between each, but the short runtime made it bearable. Lyrically alright at best, but that was definitely not the focal point of this album.
Making Whoopy baby
Big fan
Not for the first time I'm caught off guard by the Chairman of the Board. Guess I have no more excuses now. This is just the kind of music that takes you to a place in time. Very cozy, very evocative. The strings, the bass, the voice. This was an easy listen. I think the first track You Make Me Feel So Young might be my favorite, but none of this was bad.
It's about time Frank showed up. I was in high school in the late 2000's/early 2010's. I had no business enjoying anything Frank Sinatra had ever put out. But I've always found, like many others have, something outright charming about Sinatra. His smooth voice, his style, his attitude and showmanship. It's just all tied up neatly in a nice package. You know what to expect from a Sinatra album. It's reliable, it's comforting. Sure, you could say that makes it boring. But I say it makes it great. Is this his best output? Hard to say. He always seemed like one of those artists that didn't put out conventional albums but just kinda recorded songs and they were released on themed compilations. I'm probably speaking from ignorance there, but I don't know that I've actually ever listened to a straight up Sinatra release. Maybe I just alway assumed that because he mostly recorded jazz standards. I dunno. Anyway, seems like this is his ninth studio album. As an album of covers, the focus is on the interpretation - the arrangements, the vocal choices, and the song choices (taken mostly from jazz standards). So let's break it down. The arrangements: Nelson Riddle is, of course, a master and a frequent Sinatra collaborator. I do think he borders on overdoing it here a little, and there's a little too much schmaltz for me in certain places. Kinda feels like this was in an effort to make it a little more hip-sounding. I don't hate it, I just could've done with a slightly scaled back version of these arrangements. The arrangement for "Pennies from Heaven" just left me wanting the Louis Prima version. I know they probably slowed it down to differentiate it from that version, but if you're living it is shadow why even try it at all and create an inferior version? I also give Nelson Riddle a pass because he scored the 1960's Batman show and movie, and that score is ingrained in my very being (another anachronism on my part). The vocals: what is there to say? It's Sinatra. His phrasing is largely impeccable. Say what you will about his actual vocal talent or range, the man knew how to use what he had to its fullest. He delivers the lyrics in a stylistic and smooth way that just makes them insanely listenable. I'd listen to him sing the phonebook and it would be interesting. The song choices: This is a great mix of songs a lot of people with a passing familiarity of jazz standards know ("Pennies from Heaven," "I've Got You Under My Skin," "Anything Goes," etc.) and ones that I've never heard before. I love this. It makes it so it isn't just a hit fest of songs we all know. It kept my attention because I had to really listen instead of just make this background music. I appreciate that. This is a great time. Not his best, but it's hard for me to give it less than four stars. So that's what it gets. Standout Tracks: You Make Me Feel So Young, Too Marvelous for Words, I've Got You Under My Skin, I Thought About You, Anything Goes, How About You?
Its Frankie, baybeeee. Tunes to make you forget the impending apocalypse 🥰
Oh, I love this. I love this kind of music in general, really—it’s the sort of music I put on to relax or to work to. Sure, it gets a bit samey, but it’s just so soothing. Frank had the kind of voice I could listen to for hours. I will say, though, that although I do try my best to make allowances for differences in vocabulary between then and now, the song Makin’ Whoopee was somewhat challenging to listen to straight-faced. However, I did look it up, and when it was written, the phrase simply referred to celebrating marriage, rather than what it might suggest to modern ears. Standout Track: You Make Me Feel So Young Score: 4/5
Fun bombastic crooning - maybe a little same-y at times but I can’t but help being in a good mood with some good old big band Sinatra
