Reviews (page 14 of 14)

Great, an hour of Damon Albarn trying to convince everyone he’s cool. Not falling for it, Damon.

This website loves to pin me down and kick me in the bollocks over and over again

Nicht meine Richtung

would be a 0 if i could

fuck off

Comforting chill start with the first four songs. When things picked up, it wasn't really my bag. I wonder if this made the 1001 list because of the 'virtual band' element more than the music? I guess it does sound modern for 2001. Becomes more experimental, but I'm finding it bland. I like Latin Simone and Starshine and M1 A1.

1/5. Definitely a trial period. Without Clint Eastwood this would not have gotten a second chance. Thankfully it did but dang this album does not age well. So many just unlistenable songs, like someone trying out electronic music for the first time. Even Clint Eastwood isn't that good, couldn't push myself to even finish the album. Best Song: Clint Eastwood but barely

this one leaves me cold

Not for me 1/5

Made me angry how bad this was

More than anything, it's just boring.

I do not enjoy nor would i return to any but one song. In terms of 1001 best albums ever, this is certainly on a much lower end

Dated with one good song. Not Damon’s best.

Clint Eastwood and Double Bass are great songs. A couple of others are okay, and I think that everything else on this album is just pure garbage. And that Clint Eastwood remix at the end is fucking horrible I hope I never have to listen to Daman Albarn again

At the time I hated the song “Clint Eastwood,” it was playing everywhere. The song hasn't gotten any better and the rest of the album isn't any better either.

God did not give me the tools to put up with this

Ghastly. I listened to the first three songs hoping it might get better, but then I couldn't take it anymore.

Eliminated by choice all songs with explicit content. Of the songs I heard, I'd give the rating a zero if I could. A "1" rating implies there might be hope for this music ... which is not the case. Cannot Realistically Accept Poor (CRAP) music.

Not my thing.

gorilla

Gosh, this album was absolutely everywhere wasn't it. You couldn't move without hearing Clint Eastwood and at the time, it felt like something genuinely different and quirky. On reflection, this is dull dull dull - bring back joyful 1991 Leisure Damon please.

Not for me

Not really my music. Liked a couple of song but in my opinion a very ordinary album with no big highlights.

Definitely not for me.

No me gustó para nada. Parecían gatos llorando! .

Not for me

Not suited to my taste at all

nicht meine Musik

Not my type of music

Not my taste. Rock.

oh no, that was just noise & not even good noise

Not a Fan of it. Might have been the headache I had going into it, but did not make it fully through a single song. Stopped about 7 songs in

My first intentional experience with Gorillaz. Outside of some average beats, I find zero value in this music. I would like to apologize to Clint Eastwood on behalf of non-Gorillaz-enjoying humanity. .45

repetitive, and uninspired with a few highlights that keep this album away from a zero.

Nijakie, miałkie i bez polotu, nie mój klimat. Zahacza wszystkie gatunki, a jednocześnie żaden konkretnie. Ani pół dźwięku nie zostało ze mną na dłużej po odsłuchu.

I really didn't enjoy this at all.

A total load of bollocks that wasn’t good enough to become Blur b-sides 👍🏾

Not good

Not my thing at all. Clint Eastwood the only redeeming feature

Annoying fake band. Didn't need to hear this when it came out and didn't need to hear it now.

This did not do it for me felt a little rapish and can’t put a name in the other style. Sit care for it was just noise in the car in the way to work honestly road noise would have been better 1.25/5

I expected the worst, but: fuck me, this is *terrible*

A big fan of Blur and Albarn in general, but at the time of release, I didn't get the virtual band stuff. It's a Damon side project, it didn't need all the cartoon characters. That said, maybe it needed all that bullshit to sell it, as it is a bit boring in many places. The concept of mixing genres didn't seem to work very well in this case, certainly worked better on subsequent releases. Quite liked Man Research, 19-2000 (but even that isn't the single mix on the original album, that was added to the end of the album like some sort of extra which oddly is the standout track by a mile). Albarn finding life after Blur (at the time) a bit tough or self indulgent? - a high 1.

This is the first cartoon band I’ve listened to since The Archies in 1970. I knew immediately this wasn’t for me, so it’s a one ☝️ on the old score board. Sorry Damon, i much prefer your solo excursions into Mali music.

except clint eastwood hated every second of it

Definitely not my favourite album from them, I think I only really liked Clint Eastwood

Not for me and neither are their music videos

Apart from Clint Eastwood, this seems like one long jam session. Not a lot of thought into the album, lots of bells and whistles, very little enjoyment.

I was so depressed with this album, I mean cheer up. If they had remixed all songs like Clint Eastwood and 19-2000, would actually be quite good. But despite these two tracks, still doesn't lift it higher than a 1 as had to listen to that dross!

Humorous ringtone song

Made it through a fifth of the album. Noise. Sound clutter. Early 2000s urban youngish men whining about nothing.

It's a VERY experimental album. I like that about it, and I love Gorillaz to death. But this album really just sucks. Somehow even "Clint Eastwood" can't make up for the fuckery that's going on in this album. Somehow it's just the least enjoyable music to listen to. I'm giving this album a 1, just so I will remember what I felt about it. And also I love the coverart <3

Understandably dated, to my ear. I remember it being influential and important when released originally, but I found it mostly boring. A few catchy tunes. My opinion has been biased by overplays. This is gas station music at this point.

Desperately bland
