not their best

Pretty ok album. Enjoying it but not my favorite Fleetwood Mac album.

For a band that gets so much hype, this was unbelievably dull.

Right, 65ish minutes of this 75 minute mammoth record is absolute tosh. It irks me to the point of anger that this band carried Peter Greens legacy to places like this. Don't get me wrong they've had a couple of decent tracks but the majority is shite saved by some occasional decent singing from Stevie Nicks. In truth they should have changed the band's name to Fleetwood McNicks and at least I wouldn't have to cringe when I tell people I like Fleetwood Mac. No wonder poor Pete went a bit mad... 😩

Pretty meh. Not a big fan of fleetwood mac and it was very easy listening but nothing notably exciting

The intro to Sara is still spine tingling and the title track is an odd, eccentric masterpiece. The rest couldn’t really sustain me through a whole double album though.

I know a lot of ppl like this album, but to me, it was meh.

I really like the hits, and have only listened to Rumors and the Best of... So this is different, and it takes some adjusting for me. Slightly too many meandering, dragging tracks. It does pick up pace halfway through, becoming more enjoyable for me. Very clearly a 'skip Side A' record for me. Second half is really enjoyable, even if too meandering to my liking at times. Ends fairly weak as well. Too bad, expected more.

2.5 stars This could have been a solid 4 star follow up to their 2 great previous pop records. There are enough good songs for that. But they bloat it with unnecessary excess that makes the album drag and takes away what would have made it an enjoyable listening experience.

God just so not Rumours. It’s like a different band

I kept waiting for the good Fleetwood mac songs that I have heard so much about. I guess they arn't on this album. 4/10

God there's a reason why this album is lesser known.

Should have been a single LP

You know the Fleetwood Mac album with all their songs that get stuck in your head? It isn’t this one.

Not for me.

Ett par bra men annars rätt tråkiga

I did not enjoy this one a lot. It's hard to desribe but I felt like barely any song was catchy and mostly it was hard to listen to it. Its weirdness seems to be the main thing people like about it but I did not get it, really. That's fine though, the album was not bad at all but it just did not connect with me.

[4/10] Album on life support

Long and eclectic but focused and mostly painless, Tusk ought to be far grander and stranger than it is. 'When you build your house, I'll come by.' Lyrically, that's about as impressive as it gets, and while 'What Makes You Think You're The One' and 'I Know I'm Not Wrong' have a great deal of pop oomph, I'm not really feeling any track here - not in the gut nor in the head. Somewhere between the White Album and Exile on Main St., but not nearly as successful as those seminal releases, the record can't seem to make up its mind. Is it from the heart or the brain? While you'd most likely want it to be both, Tusk is not soulful enuf to have me moving unreservedly or clever enuf to have me thinking uninhibitedly. In short, it's immensely boring.

First disc was mostly boring. Lots of droning, not hearing a lot of great melodies. Not That Funny was horrible. SIsters of the Moon is probably the best song so far. Hopefully disc 2 is better. Disc 2 is better so far. That's Enough for Me is definitely a highlight so far. Overall disc 2 was better, but not a fan. Apparently enjoying this album takes a lot of work that I'm not willing to put in.

Not great. 2

I was excited to get Fleetwood Mac but then was really surprised when I didn't recognize a single song.

Felt like two bands, mostly the boring one. The opening track sounded like it should be at the end of the album, or at least the end of a side.

Lindsay Buckingham being “punk” just doesn’t work for me. Or maybe the band didn’t go for it hard enough, wasn’t willing to go far enough with him to make it work. I imagine there are people who like how “eclectic“ this album is to me it just sounds like an identity crisis.

I guess I just don’t get Fleetwood Mac. This is just dull music to me. It’s background music for a convenience store. It’s not unpleasant, it’s just bland. I don’t think I’ll ever understand the appeal of this band.

not my favorite. didn't really hold my attention.

Rumours was one of the first major albums I remember coming out and being a big deal and I really liked that album. I remember being excited about the release of Tusk and being disappointed when I actually heard songs from it for the first time. Having now given it a full listen decades later, my opinion has not changed.

There's three types of Fleetwood Mac. The first one is pre-Stevie Nick's (so damn great), second one is Rumours (a couple of good songs), and third is no good.

I don’t know what the big deal about this album is. Didn’t sound anything too special

I've always been under the impression that Rumors is overrated, it's good, but it's no where close to being the greatest album of all time and this album is reinforcing my opinion that Fleetwood Mac got lucky with a few hits. Some of these songs (most of them with male vocalists) sound god awful. Like is Not That Funny supposed to sound bad as a joke? Were they trying to be experimental? Ignoring the songs that sound like dog turds, my biggest problem with this album is that a lot of the songs sound unfinished. A lot of the songs feel like they have 3 verses in a row and then fade out. There are no hooks or memorable melodies anywhere on this album. If I can give Rumours is that it has hooks "Chain keep us together", "Thunder only happens after it rains", or "YOU CAN GO YOUR OWN WAY!!!". Nothing here sticks. High 2.

Decent overall but it didn’t feel very cohesive and a lot of the songs were pretty forgettable. It was an easy listen but I don’t think it’s something I’d listen to again.

It's just not my favorite Fleetwood Mac album. After getting half-way through, I couldn't justify spending the time to listen to the last of it.

It's no Rumours

Having just finished this album, I look back on it to find I can't remember a single song apart from the foot-tapping but uninteresting Ledge. Some nice simple drumming on some tracks as a comment pointed out, but this is already fading from my memory.

Good dog on the cover. Eh.

ok but not great...

Wow, it's as if after rumours they wanted to prove they were also really good at making bad albums. Some songs sound OK (mostly the ballads) but are, musically, basic pop songs (Sara, Storms). Many songs are cliché, boring rock & roll (I know I'm not wrong). Some songs are barely tolerable (What makes you think you're the one). Fleetwood Mac deserves to be on this list, but not this album. Could have been a 3 if they kept the better half of the songs. Also, I don't understand why this was the mostly expensively produced album ever at the time. My wife said it better than I can: it's as if it's recoded in a pub and anyone can sing along.

Poor (by Fleetwood Mac standards!)

sorry buy boring

This is the second time I tried listening through this album. First time I got about half way through before giving up. I find this album utterly boring, way too long and sort of fumbling through. It's a pop album that is trying to have an edge, emulating what is popular at the moment, but without much passion in the trying. It's got the polished sound of a well produced albu, playing with new gear in the studio with a capable sound engineer, but otherwise I can't hear the millions of dollars poured into making it. To me it's all filler material, none of the tracks grabbed.

As a disclaimer, I’ve always held the very unpopular opinion that I hate Fleetwood Mac. However, I’ve also had the realization that it might just be Rumors that I hate. That may be true, because I didn’t hate this album nearly as much. It’s kind of like stepping in a puddle vs stepping in dog poop. Neither are enjoyable and I avoid both as best as I can, but one is decidedly more objectionable. Some of my opinion of this album may be due to a preexisting bias, but there’s also very little here for me to sink my teeth into. From an objective as possible view, these aren’t really great songs. Save Me a Place is particularly awful.

Overlong and a step down from previous material.

Not their best work. Only a couple of memorable songs.

I love Fleetwood Mac but Tusk is a HARD listen.

This is the first I’ve ever listened to Fleetwood Mac. I feel like I really wanted to like it but just couldn’t get into it. Also mixed in Stevie’s voice. It’s unique and interesting but only for a couple of songs then I get over it.

Eh. Can’t really review because I listened to a few songs and skipped around but it didn’t really connect.

Nossa, tô achando bem picolé de chuchu. Meio pra baixo, sinceramente.

First time listening to this album. Not what I expected from the little I've heard from FWM.

FAVO: Sara, Angel, Tusk

Overestimated in my eyes. None of the songs in this album is remarkable or recognisible among others.

A bloated nonsense album, which has all the hallmarks of over-production of under-developed tunes. Oddly, the only track I like is the title one, which doesn't redeem the whole.

Pretty lengthy and nothing notable.

A challenge! Not sure why this needed to be a double alby=um

Bit of a boring one

LOVE them but not this album - Sara is a massive hit, so dreamy and beautiful never gets old and Tusk is a fun track.. + a few other Christine McV slower tracks but that is it - F Mac for me peaked w Rumours this album not so much

Sara connects. The rest of the album... not so much. It blended into the background.

Yeah, I really didn’t care for this one

The music isn't bad, which is about as much of a complement as I can give this record. The songs feel unedited (constant repetition) and incomplete (the repetition leads nowhere). Additionally, The production is rough, lending to that feeling of incompleteness (a remarkable feat for an album well over an hour long). If FM had cut 7 or 8 songs, and edited or re-produced the rest, this album has great potential. As it stands, however, this is a bit of a mess.

I thought I was going to enjoy this - I mean it sold 4 million copies - But I didn’t. 10 months in the studio one would think they could have come up with something better than this

I prefer the hits Fleetwood Mac to the avant garde Fleetwood Mac.

This album seemed about 17 songs too long. The boring ones all sound the same, which is to say they sound like Fleetwood Mac and are highly annoying. The song Sara is the stand out obviously.

There's the odd track with signs of like to keep this above 1* but this is pretty boring

2/5. I don't have any true feelings about this album. I skipped it because on my first listen I got nothing from it, it felt like just sound. I love other Fleetwood Mac material but this was nothing. I let it sit for like a year and now reviewing it again and... it's about the same. Nicks songs were the best part about this record, and a lot of the other songs were just fumbles. Sure, some of the songs are simple and fun but that enjoyment goes away by the end of the song and I forget what I just listened to. Again, it wasn't terrible but this was the not great overall. Best Song: Storms, Sisters Of The Moon, What Makes You Think You're the One

These are skilled musicians and they deserve to be on a list such as this. However, when an album has 20 tracks and I enjoyed maybe three of them, I cannot rightfully rate this very high. Without further context about why this specific Fleetwood Mac album is on the list, I'm going to make an assumption: it was when everyone confirmed their vocals should just be left to Stevie Nicks.

An uneven and un-memorable follow up to a classic. Not experimental enough to challenge and one of the most bloated albums I’ve heard so far with about half the tracks feeling like musical wallpaper. The were some moments that I enjoyed, particularly around the middle of the album, but this is no one’s favorite Fleetwood Mac album.

Anxious to read why this one made it. I am looking for the hits, but none in sight.

Not a good Fleetwood Mac album.

Subpar for Fleetwood Mac. I feel like they haven't matured or evolved beyond where they were 30 years ago and it shows.

That's way more Christine McVie than I expected.

Mid album

It's too long and has too many mediocre songs

Really wish zero stars was an option

Didn't like this much - I can see why their later albums were more successful.

Don’t get the hype

I am used to way better from Fleetwood Mac. These are just some demos as far as I'm concerned. I don't know why this album is on this list.

Not my thing, just a bit too mellow and more songs simply fade out than is necessary. Not bad background music, but not an amazing album that I'll go back to

I found this album to be extremely dull and boring. There were some good songs, with "Tusk" probably being the best, in my opinion. However, most of the album felt forgettable and basically unnecessary, especially at the length the album is. I don't think the music is actively bad, but it is just so dull that I can't imagine listening to it again in its entirety.

Recording sessions were described as a 'cocaine blizzard' lol Maybe I'm too basic, but I prefer Rumours any day of the week. I appreciate they were going for experimental, but not all experiments work out.

I wont be too coarse. But I don't see the appeal. Rumors was special sure. But, referencing it in the lineage doesn't add much value to the content or conversation. This is certified Target Mom junk music. There's something to appreciate somewhere within it. But, its mostly simple instruments and non complicated vocals with pretty simple song structures. Like a 8th grader could write something equal.

la segunda cancion vale corneta, mid af

Like 3 good songs, generously.

Distinctive sound and loads of tracks, but nothing grabbing me and telling me to listen to it over and over. Sadly forgettable.

Ive never really got Fleetwood Mac. True, Rumours had a lot of excellent pop hits on it that makes it an undeniably great album but its spectacular rating was always alien to me. Tusk seemed to be all of the run of the mill bits of the band without the pop hits. I dont know where this comes in their discography but it sounded like them post-Rumours furiously trying to create another hit record but having to substitute good songs for endeavour and throwing as many ideas as possible at a record in the hot that some stick. 2 listens through and i can only really recall the weird production on maybe track 2 that was all bass and really low vocals

Really unremarkable for a Fleetwood Mac album. Doesn't contain any of my favorite songs. 2.5/5

Not their best albums

It's no Rumours

I really don't wanna point about what the 'tusk' is as it could be inappropriate, but I could be wrong :skull: Anyways, I like that the lyrics are simple, and I also like the album.

is this a joke? this album isnt terrible, but on a scale of buckingham to mic fleetwood this is a christine mcvie

Didn't really like it surprisingly.

It was in offensive. Fleetwood Mac is exceptionally talented, just nothing that wowed me on the album

Fleetwood Mac is a legendary band. Their songwriting was renowned, their musicality was first rate, and the Rumours of the internal drama was the 1970s equivalent of Love Island. According to Wikipedia, this was one of the most expensive albums ever, and became a commercial failure. I kind of get it. The first few songs are …mmmmeeeeh… until you Storms. I respect the experimentation. For me, a lot of this album feels overproduced and disjointed. There are some gems in there, though admittedly I find myself leaning into the Stevie Nicks tracks. Storms and Sisters are my standouts. As a whole I’m torn about this album….

I really, really like Fleetwood Mac, however, this is not their strongest album. This even more apparent since Rumors was my record of the day 3 days ago. Some enjoyable songs, but overall not my favorite. This could have easily been a single album. Some of the songs sound so far removed from their premier material.

Not anywhere near as good as rumors

I remember listening to this when it first came out - stoned, sitting in a girlfriend's basement, thinking about how damned good this music was. I must have been *really* stoned.

This one didn’t grab me, especially having heard Rumors recently where every song’s a certified hit. If I was in the mood for Fleetwood Mac I’d always reach for that one instead.

Not in the same league as Rumors

Better than I expected. I like the weirder tracks. They should have leaned in to weirder.

Not bad but definitely not my favorite of their albums. It was nice to hear the songs that I am not familiar with though even if they don't have the same impact as their earlier albums. I'm sure I will listen to the hit songs on this album but probably wouldn't listen to the whole thing again.

This is a great band that just kinda missed the mark here. A lot of the songs felt very jarring and while the harmonies were nice, there was something a little off about them. And so whiny at times. Not a strong outing by an otherwise pretty great group.

I know I wasn’t exactly Rumours biggest fan, but this was…. well, I listened to Rumours again after this and I guess this made me appreciate Rumours more? I can tell my preference against country/folk is in play when it comes to Fleetwood Mac. I am not saying Tusk is bad per se, but it was definitely a step down for this band. Rating: 2 Rating: 2

Not the Fleetwood Mac album I wanted. Rumours is one of my favorite albums of all time, and I had high expectations for this. I was pretty disappointed. Everything about this album just felt flat. There wasn’t any of the genius that the other album had. It didn’t hurt my ears or anything, but I wanted more.

welllll I like the famous Fleetwood Mac songs. Alas, I will remain a basic bitch it's super sunny and it's ok as a backdrop for seeing my hometown in its full glory but it feels like not much more than the backdrop to me unfortunately. I got into the vibes of What Makes You Think You're The One at some point, as well as Sisters of the Moon, but I doubt I'll be coming back

It was okay. Twangy and folksy, and altogether forgettable.

This list must be compiled by a very pretentious person, bent on avoiding fantastic records that might be seen as cliche, in favor of albums like this. FM have two top tier albums, this is not one. Not even close. It is a boring album with way way too many tracks.

Not my favorite sound from FM. Hard to place it, but I kinda felt like skipping every other song.

So I am famously not a fan of Fleetwood Mac. Oh I don't hate them and I totally respect Rumors for the classic that it is. But I think they're largely overrated. So I was prepared when faced with listening to Tusk to be proved wrong. I would have to admit that the album was good and FM were a great band. Not so fast. I can honestly say Tusk is everything I do not like about FM. The songs seem half baked and meandering. While I like Christie McVie's voice I find Stevie Nicks annoying in all but certain of her songs. It feels like one of those albums where each of the major players in the band was allowed their few songs so it comes across as disjointed and fragmented. A few moments are a 3 but overall its a 2 at best.

Not memorable.

Fleetwood Mac had a long and crazy history from the excellent blues band with Peter Green to the later AOR band that produced the massive Rumours (and losing several guitarists along the way). It's hard to disagree that Rumours was a massively important and well-crafted album. But Tusk must have been designed to follow Rumours with something a bit different. For this, I think the band deserves credit. But I think the end result is a double album of AOR pop/rock that is surprisingly bland. I didn't find much of this album notable.

I've long thought Fleetwood Mac was not to my liking. But I'd never gone below their known hits on the radio, which I never liked. So this was a good test. By 3 songs in, my opinion was strengthening. A few more songs and it's just about confirmed. I finished, and it is not at all to my liking. In my opinion, this is a very overrated album.

Very surprised this is post Rumours, it feels earlier.

I kept wanting it to be better. It’s boring

this album is... weird. coming off the back of a WILDLY successful and popular Rumours, its a very interesting turn that they take. its almost like if Rumours had the wheels starting to fall off for the band, this album is them pulling the cart without three wheels and all taking separate turns. there seems to be little cohesion between the songs, and its much more rough than the previous album. i knwo i shouldnt be comparing it to Rumours so much... but to have that album and then follow it with this... its quite the juxtaposition

Dull and lacking substance

If Rumours is the sound of a couple breaking up while on a cocaine high, Tusk is… well what is Tusk? It’s kinda long, and kinda boring, and most of the songs are kind too long, and kinda boring. It’s more like being the only sober person listening to a conversation between a drunk group in a pub, but everyone’s like sad drunk and not funny. I feel as if the album’s a grower, and that you have to be in the right mood for it, to be in the mood to like settle down and appreciate it’s melancholy beauty or some shit like that. I’m just surprised that they seem to have forgotten how to write hooks

Over & Over Sara Sisters Of The Moon Tusk

Tusk doesn't do it for me. I can indeed hear that it is all a bit more experimental, but it's Fleetwood Mac Experimental. It creates a few songs that I can hardly sit through. Amazingly, almost all of them are Buckingham songs. The title track jumps out a little for me. For the rest, there is a lot of mediocre stuff that goes in one ear and out the other. Tusk doesn't feel like an album made on autopilot, but neither does it feel like an album that has a clear vision. Three captains on a ship, so to speak. I understand that a second 'Rumors' was not desirable from Buckingham's perspective, for me it just doesn't make for an album that I really enjoyed. Not something that annoyed me, but I really don't understand the high scores.

Strange to include this one in the book. I thought that we all agreed that Rumours is the classic Fleetwood Mac album. I suppose you could need to listen to this one to understand how ponderous much of their other music is. Sara is the standout song w

Boring.

that was hard work to listen to, way too disjointed for my liking, some decent tracks (Sara being the standout)

So disappointed. If this album were by anyone else. Easily a 3. But from the people that created Rumors?!?! Really. So disappointed. Absolutely too long. The brilliance gets lost in the blandness of it all.

It’s alright, Fleetwood Mac is very hit or miss for me

some bangers some repetitive fav= the ledge

expected to like it, didnt. 2 stars

Sara, then the album offers nothing worth listening to. Furthermore, the individual tracks do not form a coherent picture to form an album.

The first two songs are pretty much country music. Not quite, but not far away. Lots of twang, lots of slide guitar, very whiny. Third song is more rock-y, but it's whatever. The fourth song sounds like -- you know those cheapo plastic pianos you can buy for a toddler? where all the keys sound similar and it's just a clinking cacophony of chaos as the happily bang away, oblivious to the migraine they're giving the parent? I'm pretty sure they used one of those pianos as the background for this song. Fifth song...Why don't they let this chick sing more? She's got a great, unique voice. The dude is just annoyingly bog standard. It's like when Alice In Chains started letting Jerry Cantrell sing more. Read the room, Alice, we're here for the vocal god, not the dude that sounds like my dad singing tunelessly while changing the oil in our 1967 Nova. Anyway, fifth song is pretty OK, actually. Bit long, but best so far by a mile. Song six, back to Jerry Cantrell Guy. Sounds like an overwrought marching band. I just checked and there are 20 songs. Fuck me, that's a lot of songs. I'm not doing this for 13 more songs, so I'll sum up at the end. It's just not great. There are crap songs, and there are inoffensive songs. It definitely picked up after the first few songs, but nothing I ever need to hear again. One star is extremely unkind, so I think 2 stars is the play here.

boring rich people hippie music for people that I imagine are too afraid to order something different than what they always order at the restaurant they go every friday. All the songs there had the potential to be good but it feels like they gave up halfway. Should have focused on quality over quantity instead of making a pretty long double album.

Boring

Toch maar eens even wiki opduiken.

Not their best effort

Soft words soft music. One and only time I’ll hear this.

Just OK. Not a single outstanding song and overall too long to be good :(

This was okay musically, but I didn't really enjoy it that much. I thought the title track was pretty inventive, and though I had heard the song before and enjoyed it, this time through it didn't really stand out that much.

I mean maybe if you are really into their sound its good. I think rumors is just a better ablum.

Unremarkable. The only song that made me sit up and listen is Sisters of the Moon, which got bogged down in ridiculous electric guitar solos at the end.

Yet another followup to a massively successful album that ventured into more experimental territory, with diminishing returns.

Glad they gave us the weekend for this album as it’s a long one. Tough to follow up Rumours and suffers from what you’d expect, bloated album that sounds disjointed. Sounds more like each band member is taking turns writing songs than a band, which I guess is the interesting part of the album as the band breaks apart. I like Tusk the song a lot better than Tusk the album.

Not much to say. Big let down after rumours

not particularly exciting tbh. struggling to even find anything to say about this album. fleetwood mac never really caught my attention and this has failed to remedy that

Not my sound

Swipe Left

Gulp… I don’t like rock. Is this even rock? Or is it country… it’s rock 2.5/5 - I liked it more than most rock, I like that it has chill songs. Prob would not listen to it again though

Title track is fun and playful, but the rest is an insipid, disjointed slog. This is music for divorced aunts who live for drama and have no self-awareness to clutch their shawls and sway too.

Not my thing. Nice to have in the background

It was a real drag.

Didn't finish, not super invested?

A long, boring slog to get to the only good song (Tusk)

This may be one of the worst Fleetwood Mac albums. Why this one was chosen I have no idea. The songs are just boring. 2

OK album, but I would not listen again.

I'm usually very sympathetic to the little sibling of the really popular guy/girl (I'm talking Tusk vs Rumours of course). But Tusk really falls short for me I'm afraid.

Thought I was a fan... always heard great things about this album but after listening to this album, I've come to realize... I'm a greatest hits of Fleetwood Mac...

A little more experimental than their normal stuff. Not bad, but not what I like Fleetwood Mac for.

Tusk's Apple Music description describes the record as Lindsey Buckingham's desire to make another good album and "would die on his cross to make a point." So... yeah... I'd like to say that I like this record, but I realized each song I enjoyed was lead by Stevie and Christie; the songs in between are some of the worst songs I've ever heard in my life. Did Buckingham make a point? If any, it's that he'd be nothing without Stevie Nicks and Christie McVie, and there will never be another Rumours album. Favorites: Sara, Beautiful Child, Sisters of the Moon Hate list: What Makes You Think You're The One, Not That Funny Honorable Mentions: Over & Over, Storms, The Ledge, Angel

Mid album added due to artist popularity rather than merit. If you want a good Fleetwood Mac album, listen to Rumors, which is also on this list.

After Rumours, this was just not as good. Sara did come out right after Sarah was born (about 8 weeks later), so people might get those confused in their timelines. 314 N Webster has now been torn down in Norman

interesting to say the least

Likable. There were a few songs that were especially enjoyable, but nothing jumped out at me. I bet if I listened to it a few more times I would like it more, but this is 1001 albums and competition is fierce. Interesting that this was the album directly after the album with Dreams/Everywhere/etc. it didn’t have any comparable hits.

I feel like it works really well from beginning to end. But I don’t think the songs standout so much as they work really well in the flow of the album. Not sure that I will return to re-listen to it more than once but I am going to give it another chance.

This album is very front loaded. I loved the first half, banger after banger, timeless classic after timeless classic. However, this album fails to keep my attention for much longer than half of it, with the second half being very bloated and full of songs that are either boring, or even a few that I found annoying to hear. There were a handful of standout tracks in the second half, most notably beautiful child, and the titles track. But on the whole this album burns itself out very quickly

Sappy!

Title song and Sara...maybe a couple others on there but barely. Surprised this makes the list from Fleetwood. If this album made it, I know at least 2 of their others are showing up.

Ya bore me

I dunno I guess it’s fine

long album. starts with a slow song. don't think I could get through this album without skipping as soon as I'm bored. it's not a bad album, but it's not the kind of thing I listen to when I look for something new. What Makes You Think You're the One is the only song to catch me attention so far. to review or listen to this properly, I'd need to know the context around it. it doesn't sound like anything I haven't heard Walk a Thin Line is interesting, my favourite so far. it's pretty diverse when it comes to sounds and their arrangement, and I'm a big fan of that. the highlights in the album are inspired and have an identity Never Forget does that weird change to the musical boring place that I see. just vamp and lead it back into the other part, that'll work... I'm not a fan of the slower songs, I just get bored too quickly, but the parts I liked, I liked a lot.

Different from Rumors, but still not really my thing. I can appreciate they are talented.

Was not a fan of this one. Sounded more "noisy" than musical in my opinion.

I know I'm not wrong is decent Never forget also not bad. But realistically the headline here is how did a band make this album straight after making rumours?? It's REALLY BAD in comparison. Even independently it's not a very good album

Sara and Tusk the rest of the album kind of sucks though

The sophomore slump is a real thing. Athletes after a breakout rookie season. Sequels to hit movies. A second album after a groundbreaking debut. Following up on brilliance and genius is nearly impossible. Now, “Rumors” wasn’t Fleetwood Mac’s debut. In fact it was their 11th album. But it was a groundbreaking breakout like few others. After that kind of success, and the most unenviable tasking of following it, it’s no wonder Lindsey Buckingham wanted to go in other directions. But he didn’t choose the right directions. Kind of stunning to go from such a hit filled album to such a complete dud. There are a few good songs on “Tusk,” but because it was such a commercial dud they wound up having no lasting impact. Oh, and those good songs? They’re mostly Stevie Nicks. “Rumors” felt like more of a group effort. “Tusk” feels disjointed, with Buckingham, McVie, and Nicks each doing their own thing and not bothering trying to make it fit together. There was lots of band drama during the recording of “Rumors” right? Maybe it’s better that they not work too closely together. Though that strife did give us one of the greatest albums of all time.

This is a disappointing follow up to Rumours. The band didn’t want to do Rumours 2, which I get. But there’s a reason it would have been a good idea to develop some of the left over ideas…because Rumours was amazing. Hit after smashing hit. What’s wrong with trying to recreate some of that while evolving their sound a bit? There were a couple moments here that muster up the magic. But by and large, I am bored by Tusk. And while wanting to reinvent themselves is understandable, embracing boring is not the way to do it. As with many, many double albums if the band had pared this down to a single album, the result would have been much stronger.

Mostly "eh"; a couple good ones. 2/5

Way too long and uninteresting. Shame as Rumours is so good

Stevie made some of the songs tolerable, and there was the occasional interesting music experiment going on, but overall a really hard listen.

I don't know Fleetwood Mac too well, just some of the well known hits. So this album was unfamiliar to me. On the whole it was "meh". None of the songs grabbed me immediately, and it's not a sound I'm especially drawn to.

So much filler, and no real killer

not a fleetwood mac guy and the only songs i find remotely interesting are the ones with stevie nicks on vocals. there’s just something about lindsey buckingham’s voice that i just can’t stand. and this one is WAY too long, clocking in at over 74 minutes.

This was actually pretty boring, to be honest.

It's Fleetwood Mac, there has to be some good stuff, right? Nah nothing really hit home here

Not for me.

Boring tbh

Not their best effort.... and they made it into a double album??? Obviously the songwriting was influenced by powder... I really struggle with this album, with 20 tracks and only 1 I liked, Sara. Least liked, The Ledge.

This album feels like a claustrophobic, experimental fever dream. I thought I loved Fleetwood Mac but maybe I just love Rumours. Some songs on this album are okay, but I ended up skipping the ends of a lot of them because they felt boring and same-y. I think this album still had a lot of elements that make Fleetwood Mac great, but it felt half-formed and needed a lot of songs edited out completely.

Not sure if this was an album i "needed to hear" before i die. Probably would have been better listening to a FM greatest hits compilation.

Wat een onboeiend album. Te lang, te saai, te weinig goede nummers. Af en toe wel goed.

Sadly a very forgettable record. The considerably better second half comes too late to save what it is an inoffensive but bland and overly long album. There are some nice tracks in amongst it all but moments of real interest are few and far between.

the Stevie songs are good… that’s all I have to say

Oh my god, this album is boring. 19 boring songs, and Tusk. Wtf. Boring, boring, less boring, boring, MARCHING BAND. Before today, if you asked me if I liked Fleetwood Mac, I would have said a resounding yes. Now I'd have to say "Mostly"

What a mediocre album, I'm surprised it even made this list! I've heard Tusk before, but never in a critical capacity and I was hopeful there was something I had missed the first time around, but no. The album is just so bland and boring to me, beyond the standout song "Tusk" and maybe "Sara" and "Storms." Otherwise, it's just a long, lame, snore. Maybe I have a higher standard for Fleetwood Mac because of Rumours, but regardless this album just ain't worth another listen.

Not as good as Rumours. Didn’t really enjoy this one at all.

I've found it a bland and uninteresting record, and overly long. A single album with max. 40 minutes would've been more than enough. I usually like pop-rock, and experimental rock from the 1970s but I can't hear the appeal of this album by Fleetwood Mac.

This album puts the zZzZz in easy listening.

Fleetwood Mac, where do I start. Two of my all time favourite musicians, and a good band. So what happened here? The critics panned this album when it was released and quite frankly I can see why. The only thing is it does contain one of my favourite Mac tracks, that being the title track Tusk, which drags it up to a mediocre 2.

It's nice enough, but I'm 5 songs in and it's not really popped yet, it's just kind of floated along. Ok I'm now 8 songs in and it still hasn't - it's so stripped back and barely there. Surely this can't keep up for the whole album...? Ok I've finished it, and it kind of did. I'm not mad Fleetwood Mac, I'm just disappointed. You have some banging tunes, did you forget to put any on here? The album cover is rubbish as well. 2.5 rounded down.

kinda crap, didn't hear a single song I'd recommend and thought more of the songs seemed to edge toward the folk angle than their bigger hits which are much more listenable

Some okay songs, but it was too long and faded into the background.

If you remove all the Lindsey Buckingham songs (maybe excepting the title song and "That's All for Everyone") it's a decent album. His songs are unlistenable though and they are almost half the album.

Uneventful

I liked the dog on the album cover and the production seemed pretty good. That's about it I'm afraid. This was airy-fairy-later-70s pap with no real substance to it. I didn't like Rumours much at all and if that was Fleetwood Mac's high point, then there's no way I'm going to like this mess. It feels like Rumours again, but just the filler songs and none of the hits. It all breezes along in a jangly, bright manner, with people singing nicely and lots of instruments playing pleasantly in the background. God it's boring - almost like a parody of indulgent 70s pop/ rock. I also found it quite amazing that a band could put out 100 minutes of tedium with not a single stand out track from start to finish. In itself that is some accomplishment. I half recognised the title track, second from the end, but then it faded into the background noise again. Pretty easy to rate - it's not dire enough for a 1-star rating and I could even imagine having this on in the background of a long car journey, or when trying to get to sleep. 2-stars for elevator music seems fair enough.

Admittedly Rumours was a hard act to follow, but this was a real disappointment. Mediocre at best - absolutely no sign of the past promise. I hated it at the time and hate it more now. The title song is the best effort. It makes me cross just listening to this. I can't bear it.

One good song

Woof. With how good Rumors is, i was excited to get this, but man this was not good. Dragged on forever without ever landing. Half the songs sounds half finished, others sounds like cheesy. Only enjoyed like 2 songs out of 20

Meh, skuffande

How does a band follow up an album such as Rumours? Well, not with this flatulence. As someone who bought Tusk when it was released and forced myself to play the whole thing more than once before getting rid of it, I am unsurprised to find that it has not improved with age. Stevie Nicks voice is a pastiche of Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie appears to have forgotten how talented she was, and the less said about Mick Fleetwood's by the numbers drumming the better. There is an excellent EP trying to escape from the turgid mediocrity: Sisters of the Moon; Sara; Tusk and (maybe) Beautiful Child, those tracks alone merit the two stars. The less said about the rest the better.

Cocaine.

Uninspired follow-up to 'Rumors'. 20 tracks is too much, especially with so many underdeveloped tracks. They sound like a garage band at times!

It was okay. Not something I'd replay probably. Stevie Nicks sure does have a pretty voice though. Thought it was cool that it was my birthyear. There were some songs that were decent. 2 stars

I was wondering when we'd get a Fleetwood Mac album. I've never been a fan, but I want to give them a fair shake, so here we go... Right off the bat, I see I'm going to be fighting an uphill battle. Not stoked that this is a double album, and starting it with "Over & Over" is nuts. This track's got "buried in the middle of the album when your audience feels too invested to turn it off" written all over it. One would think they'd want to pull in the audience with a track with a quicker tempo and more personality. It appears the entire first side of the first album was similarly lethargic. "Sara" is the closest thing to interesting, and unsurprisingly, it's the first Stevie Nicks song. Still not great, though. Moving on to side two... ...Which wasn't really any better. But hey, things at least picked up a bit on side three and side four. Well, it looks like if there's a Fleetwood album that's going to change my opinion of them, this isn't it. I was pleasantly surprised by "Tusk," which was very familiar to me, at least in part. My high school marching band played it quite a bit; I had no idea it was a Fleetwood Mac song, but the inclusion of the USC marching band on the track was inspired. Other than that, the only thing I truly enjoyed was lead guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. Sadly, there weren't a ton of uptempo tracks on this album, so he didn't get much time in the spotlight, which seems like a waste of his talent. I'll give this a 2.5.

Nothing special in my opinion. Guess it's a guarantee we're going to run into 'Rumours' at some point if this is on the list.

I guess there was bound to be some token adult contemporary on the list. For what it's worth, the musicianship is good, but man was I bored to tears. Two tears. 😢😢

A couple of decent songs early on. Just an overall boring and forgettable album

Nothing on this stood out as a great song, I only recognized the title track, and everything else was mediocre at best. Rumors is a far superior album, this as a follow-up is meh

Some good songs, and plenty of songs I didn’t care about

Pretty fine southern rock

A lot of weird stuff going on here. Too weird imo

Admittedly I had high expectations for this album, and that is likely why I gave it such a low score. This album is all over the fucking place, smooth and sweet sometimes, manic and loud other times. I pretty sure there is a marching band on the song Tusk. Overall I didn't hate this, but I was confused and disappointed, especially after reading that this many people's favorite Fleetwood Mac Album. Maybe this deserves a few more listens to really appreciate it.

It is incredible that this is the same band that made Rumours.

I like Rumours a lot, but Tusk is a big, dull dud. And to make matters worse, it's a double album. Why is it on this list? Some of the songs sounded like they might be going somewhere, but never did, and then some songs like "The Ledge" could have been good but the production was terrible. How could they release it sounding like that?

Apart from a few tracks such as "Sara" and the quirky "Tusk", I thought that this was a pretty lacklustre album, certainly not as good as "Rumours".

On the decline from their meteoric "Rumors" album, Tusk finds the band pushing out mostly forgettable and unremarkable songs.

Not their best work.

Nowhere near as good as Rumours, kinda surprised how much I disliked this one except a handful of songs.

Did not age well. Boring

Not my thing. I was like, “will this ever end?” The sonic landscape is fine. The vocals are fine. Everything is fine, but I think I had higher hopes for a Fleetwood Mac album. In looking at the reviews of others, they put the album in the context of everything happening around the band. I don’t have that historical reference. So, for me, it is just sort of a hodgepodge of sounds, vocals, and styles. Not something I’d come back to… ‘Sara’ is a good song though.

Whatever. On an album as lengthy as this, by such accomplished musicians, you'd expect some good stuff. The top tier material comes courtesy of the late Christine McVie, by way of 'Brown Eyes' and 'Never Forget'. I also found the song 'Tusk' to be a pleasant oddity. Of the remainder, too much felt half-baked, half-realised or half-arsed. There's plenty to like, if plodding mid-tempo soft rock is your bag. 'Not That Funny' is a bit like a Sparks song, if Sparks were crap. I was in a band called Tusk once upon a time, and on one occasion we were booked due to the assumption that we were a Fleetwood Mac tribute act. That we were assuredly not.

very basic, couple good songs

I didn’t get much out of this album. Seems like a swing and miss to me.

I hate to say this about Fleetwood Mac today, but meh. Rumours is one of the all-time greatest BEST albums ever, a must have for vinyl collectors, and I look forward to having it come up some day during this project. Tusk, unfortunately, is not even a pale shadow of its greatness. This is just sleepy. It's too slow, too meandering, it doesn't give me life. There are beautiful compositions and vocals, no doubt. But this album lacks the vibrancy and enthusiasm of Rumours. You know what it is? Too much McVie and Buckingham, not enough Stevie. There, I said it! Stevie is the best thing about Fleetwood Mac, the songs she's lead vocals on slap harder than any others and we don't get enough of it on Tusk. I can listen, but I find no joy.

I can only assume that Rumours provided thm with access to a mountain of cocaine that Scarface would have raised an eyebrow at. The songs tend to fit into one of two moulds - songs that sound like less good versions of Rumours songs, and songs that show off that they can afford lots of synths, but don't necessarily know how to play them. The best track, Not That Funny works better because it doesn't have that expensive studio sheen. Maybe if they'd spent more time quickly writing and recording songs like this, you'd have an album of rough diamonds, rather than gleamingly polished dog doo. In it's defense... there are almost enough decent songs to make a passable single album here, and I think it's forgivable that success had gone to their heads.

Tusk isn't among Fleetwood Mac's best work, although their bar is really high. Sara is lovely, the rest is pretty bland for a 2/5.

Aika laimee

I can hear pre-punk on the album, but the cacophonic nature of most songs (minus Sara) make it a less than appealing entry in an otherwise excellent discography.

The last Fleetwood album was way better

Soft rock, miellekäs

The song Tusk is a masterpiece. Instruments are good.

Meh. It's fine, just not really my thing

An uneven album, in my humble opinion, containing some jewels!

Good album to hear appreciating a great sunset alone or around a campfire with friends. Relaxing and moody. Otherwise utterly boring.

Not a big fan of their sound

I gather it was experimental and there were probably a lot of drugs involved, and there are a couple of great tracks on the album. But on the whole it's crap.

It’s okay, but I like some of her other stuff better.

Not great, pretty repetitive, no Rumors

It sounds ok but overall not very interesting especially given its length.

Tusk - Fleetwood Mac ------- Initial Thoughts: I've heard this one, I love it gonna slap an 8/10 before listening ----- Over & Over - Still not a fan of the ballad tracks, gorgeous but boring. This one added a bit of country twang. 6/10 The Ledge - Fun, high energy. The left only bass is driving me nuts and causing me to rate this song a bit lower than I initially remembered. 8/10 Think About Me - Solid, fun. Love the chorus with the harmonies. 7/10 Save Me A Place - Eh - too country for me. A bit slow. I like Fleetwood Mac when they're high energy. 4/10 Sara - I've heard this one lots. One of my favorite Stevie Nicks led songs. Unlike other tracks on the album I don't feel like pushing repeat. 6.5/10 What Makes You Think You're the One - Big sound. Great vocals, fun instrumentals 7.5/10 Storms - How does this have 21m plays? zzz. Maybe I'm not in a Fleetwood Mac mood today. 3/10 That's All For Everyone - Another ballad type song. Chord progression reminds me of about a girl by Nirvana. Anyway, skipped. 4/10 Not That Funny - Boom tap boom tap. Energy is coming back a bit and I like the squealy guitar. But this isn't quintessential Fleetwood Mac. 5/10 Sisters of The Moon - Kinda funky right out the gate. This is a track I apparently haven't given the time of day in the past. I'm loving this. This may be my new favorite Stevie Nicks track 8/10 Angel - Kinda funky again. Keyboard sounding like 3 dog night lol. Pretty decent. 5.5/10 That's Enough for Me - This sounds like the ledge with banjo and spastic vocals. Not doing it for me 6/10 ... Look I can't do another hour of this skipping to Tusk Tusk - 10/10 track. 10/10 ---- Final Thoughts: This album is too long and feels like mostly filler. Not a big fan - I must have been drunk last time I listened to it, or skipped the filler. 5/10

I don't know what to make of this album. On one hand, I quite like the idea of having a patchy album from Fleetwood Mac. It gives us the chance to hear them stretch out a bit. But on the other hand there are a lot of filler in there, and not the funny filler kind. Maybe I'd enjoy it more with subsequent listens, but I doubt I'll ever return to it.

Stevie Nicks songs are on point, the rest of the album is quite dull. How did this get so popular? The album is so full of fillers, 40 minutes MAX of the good stuff would be enough and much more enjoyable.

Not bad

You can tell LB took a back seat on this album. It's still good in the sense that the talent and musicianship is there, but I still find this album mostly boring. It feels lazy (especially after Rumors).

I find Fleetwood Mac to be a story of two bands (Fleetwood and Mac?). The hit song one, represented best with Rumours, may not align with my tastes, but I totally get its success. The other, which we see more of in this album, can be outright boring some of the time and ordinary at best.

It seemed okay, but I probably need time to get into it.

I guess Rumours was a tough act to follow because this is a pretty mediocre effort. The only bright spot were Stevie Nicks and Christine McVie who both have really lovely voices. It's almost unfair for one band to have two solid lead vocalists such as these two. A surfeit of riches really. Apparently the band was going through some turmoil during this time and it shows, this album is pretty uneven and damned long. Even the album cover is quite underwhelming.

Seemed just kind of generic in this day and age

So inconsistent. I’d compare it to Cerberus, but it’s more like Scrappy-Doo. Subtracting a star for the great expectations that Rumours generated.

The follow up to Rumours. Some great moments, and a couple of great songs. Did NOT need to be a double album though!

This projects is making me hate the 70s even more.

Everything up to Tusk is middle-of-the-road soft rock at best, absolute brain-melting garbage at worst. Tusk is great. Never forget is back to middle-of-the-road soft rock. Would I listen to this album again? Oh good lord no. Not in a million years. Would I listen to Tusk again? Yes.

A double album that is described as "experimental", Rolling Stone Magazine compared it to the Beatles's "White Album". Not only that, this album is very messy, mostly due to the band's own internal conflicts. The result? A long, boring double album that is definitely not Rumours 2. Congrats Buckingham, you did it. Among the sparse mess of this overall unimpressive album, I find Stevie Nicks's songs great. Kudos for carrying this 70 minute whopper of an album, Nicks. Love your voice.

It didn't catch me

Rumours I find too overplayed to enjoy so I thought I might like a FM album I hadn't heard before. Really boring unimaginative songs unfortunately

I just don’t get the hype around this. I know Fleetwood Mac are iconic, but this album is disjointed and lacking in strong ideas. A lot of tracks feel like a test that needed more work. Others should have been culled.

It has some ok songs but jsut confirms my belief about double albums. Probably wouldn't listen again.

Pretty boring.. Some of the songs sounds like unfinished demos.. Not my cup of the…

The first 1/3 of this album I was somewhat enjoying, but then it just kept becoming more derivative and boring. Some decent guitar work, but nothing that stood out to me as amazing. Some pretty vocals, I mean come on Stevie can sing, but again nothing that stood out to me too much. I'm a fan of a lot of the Fleetwood Mac songs off of Rumours, but this record just didn't really do it for me. By the last few tracks I was just waiting for it to be over.

After listening to this album, it's clear that I'm a Fleetwood Mac normie. It wasn't bad and I get that they're going in a new, experimental direction but I just found it mostly boring more than anything else. Title track wasn't bad though

I struggled to enjoy anything on this album. Was all just a bit to MOR, and quite frankly, boring. Dull lyrics, dull music. It's not terrible but it neither makes me want to dance or sit and listen. One to skip.

For an album like this you need time. It may he a grower but was underwhelmed on first listen.

Bit dull, far from their finest work

Note the best album by not my favourite band.
