I don't think I'd listen to this on purpose. Lacks the drama of rumors.

That was difficult to get through. Never been a massive Mac fan but could appreciate Rumours. This felt like their White Album, immediately following up a great album with a maraudering stumble through different sounds that just goes on too long. 2.5*

This album alternates between the stupidest song I've ever heard and the greatest song I've ever heard. Despite some songs' success in exploring interesting guitar sounds and song structures, Tusk feels like an exercise in keeping up with musical trends rather than the band putting their best foot forward. You can make a great album without needing to follow it up with an even better album. Sara and Think About Me carry a lot of the classic sounds from Rumours. This is a good album.

The best songs on here are dreamy and chill with Christie McVie & (obvs) Stevie Nicks vocals and her distinctive melodic phrasing.supported by spacey textures, and the bass carrying a lot of the music forward (Over & Over, Sara, Storms, Brown Eyes) or other SN-led songs with a more full chugging along on a groove rock-sound (Angel, Sisters of the Moon). They're experimenting with a lot of other stuff (sounds, tones, genres, instrumentation): there's a Stevie Wonder-style clavinet sound (The Ledge), generic 80s arena rock sound (Thing about me, walk a thin line), 70s country-rock sound (save me a place, that's all for everyone and the synthy I know I'm not wrong, honey hi), some devo-sounding synthy stuff (not that funny). There's some interesting guitar work (messing with reverse tape effects, volume swells and stuff) like on What makes you think you're the one? but the song is too Elton-John mashing a piano in 4/4 staccato to be interesting. Again, best stuff is when the guitar is drenched in reverb nicely compressed, sitting alongside SN vocals. Lots of songs on here - nothing as stand out as their greatest hits and a fair bit of filler - but the best songs highlight the best aspects of the band.

Not as good or catchy as Rumours, but similar.

The White album for Fleetwood Mac but not as good

Coming on the heels of Fleetwood Mac and Rumors, one would have hoped that Fleetwood Mac would put out another masterpiece. Perhaps that was too much to ask. Whether it was because of the fractures in the band that had created the incredible Rumors had abated and there was a loss of creative tension, or they simply didn't care, Tusk was not the follow up we would have hoped for. Angel and Sara are quintessential Stevie Nicks songs but come across as outtakes from Rumors. Her solo album Bella Donna, released two years later, showed more growth musically. The song Tusk is so silly, especially the marching band accompaniment, that it borders on inaccessible. Everything else is dull and uninspired. Tusk is also a 2 LP record. This is an example of where more is less. It's bloated with mostly second rate (by Fleetwood Mac standards) songs. I can still remember the collective yawn that accompanied this release. 1979 was the year punk and new wave broke out, disco was everywhere, and rap and hip hop emerging. Fleetwood Mac's response was to phone it in.

It's not exactly Rumours level of an album. I would be fine if this wasn't on the 1001 album list. It's alright, a little bit too long.

I'm sure it's been said a million times here - there's a 5 star single album in here, that was swamped out by the self-indulgence of going for a double album. When it's good, it's right there with Rumours. But wow so many of the Lindsay tracks are just epic trash. Horrible, horrible. Everyone was yakked out AF here but apparently he just totally cracked. What the fuck man. Well, at least it's a much better streaming album than it is vinyl. Much easier to skip the garbage here. Still, just can't bring myself to put it at 4.

Pretty good

Tusk - the song - is great. Innovative, catchy, musically simple but fascinating. The rest of the album is just sort of nicely bland . It's 1979, there's lots going on in punk, funk, disco and garage rock, but Fleetwood Mac aim squarely at middle of the road adult rock.

This could be another band’s best album, but against Fleetwood Mac’s best, this is just a very good album.

This album is more a vibe than anything else. It's like it doesn't have any individual songs. It's certainly no Rumours.

Well it's no rumors. I'm going to sound like a broken record but this album is again too long. I think there is a very good album here but it's bogged down by it's long running time. Tusk and Storm are great tracks to name a few. I just can't recommend listening to the whole album instead of just cherry picking your favourites.

I 100% didn't give this the attentive listen that I should have. I saw Fleetwood Mac and got super excited to listen to Rumors and tuned out when it wasn't that.

Honestly a bit underwhelming, I've tried to get through this album a few times in the past. There's some really amazing songs, but overall think it's a bit too long without the substance. Clearly an unpopular opinion though considering this albums lore. Not sure I'll enjoy anything more than Rumours.

Lots of what I don't like about Fleetwood Mac. Simple pretty breezy tunes that don't go anywhere. All the elements of the songs are top notch, they just come together into something that feels nearly soulless. The songs with some interest, like the eponymous Tusk, aren't enough to support the whole album. All of that said, kudos to them for making the exact album they wanted to just because they could. That's cool. 2.5 rounding up for the 0 f*!#s given.

You know it’s Fleetwood Mac within a couple of seconds of starting a track. Track 5, “Sara” has over 65M plays on Spotify, whilst the least played tracks have less than 2M plays, which is still high. Eight singles were released from this double album. “That’s Enough for Me” has a twangy guitar backing that makes it feel like a Country song. “Brown Eyes” is sung by the ladies of the group and gives the song an ethereal sound. I didn’t enjoy this album as much as “Tango In The Night” but I will listen again to see if it grows on me. My Rating: ***

Decent offering by Fleetwood Mac, some well known greats such as Sara and Tusk and a new one to me; the absolute banger which is Sisters of the Moon. 3.5 stars.

Pretty good album. Two really good songs: Sara and Tusk. It is not as good or consistent as Rumors.

Felt like a 3 different artist making their own collection of Rumours B-sides, and then those were cobbled together. Not offensive but not great either.

This album reportedly cost well over a million dollars to make. At least a third of that probably went up Lindsey Buckingham's nose and it shows. Double albums are always the product of ego being mixed with a blank cheque and rarely does it actually produce two albums worth of songs. This is coked out excess about 6 years before it was popular.

I realize that it's extremely difficult to follow up a great album with another great album. With that said, this is an hour plus of a double album that is not Rumors.

I feel there are a number of songs on here that could use a lot more work or could have just been dropped, songs like "Honey Hi" and "Brown Eyes." If you're going to do a double album, make sure you have the material to stretch throughout. The Beatles did it for the White Album. But Fleetwood Mac aren't the Beatles. Even their noodling still can be crafted into songs. Honestly I thought "That's All For Everyone" was the end of the album. What a strange place to put the song, it has such a finality to it. I definitely would have cut out some tracks out of this, pared it down to at less than an hour. "Sisters of the Moon," for example is a DAMN good song and should have been touted more. This may be the "anti-Rumours" but that doesn't make it a good thing, necessarily.

Not quite as good as Rumours, but still filled with some great tracks. Love the harmonies and consistent sound of the record. I also wish there were some more upbeat tracks.

Pretty good, but it just reminds me of how incredible Rumours is. Makes me want to listen to that album over this one.

I'm not getting the hype. It's the most expensive rock album made at the time, and i can't hear where that is. The critics have said it's not so much an album but a collection of songs, but for me that's an issue as I don't hear much cohesion while listening. The song writing is mixed between the members and to me that means the album doesn't flow. As for the tunes they are OK, but nothing wowed me.

To follow up Rumours was already a daunting task with a lot of pressure to release a strong record. They didn't want a Rumours 2, so they tried and went the other way a bit. The result holds some very strong songs, though also some unmemorable ones, mostly the Buckingham, cocaine induced ones. Still the record was enjoyable, albeit a bit long. 7 out of 10

Harsh conditions gave Fleetwood Mac Rumours, Rumours begat Tusk, some forty years ago that album reaches my ears in less-than-ideal environs. The opening one-two is as surprising - and good - as I've ever heard from the band. Everything else is too inconsistent to do anything but expect to grow. The organs stick out now, guiding my ear to expected pop territory. At length, neither challenging nor dragging: Nice.

A few decent tracks in a weird alternative sounding Fleetwood Mac album.

Over And Over is an extremely pleasant track that I fully enjoyed. The Ledge is an entirely different feel, while an engaging and interesting listen I did not really enjoy it that much. Think About Me is a return to the pleasant sound and had me very relaxed. Save Me a Place is a wonderful vocal duet that is very simple yet very effective. Sara showcases Stevie Nicks and per usual her vocals do not disappoint. You're The One was solid but not quite playlist worthy. Storms was an incredibly comforting yet melo listen. That's All For Everyone was relaxing and enjoyable. Not That Funny was an annoying listen. Sisters of the Moon was refreshing and catchy. Angel was a great coming together of the band. That's Enough For Me was a forgettable song. Brown Eyes was quite a good song that was emotionally impactful. Never Make Me Cry was kind of boring. I know I'm Not Wrong was solid but I don't need to listen to it again. Honey Hi was also kind of boring. Beautiful Child is an uplifting and extremely vocally well done song. Walk a Thin Line was a decent song. Tusk was very outlandish and weird. Never Forget was pleasant.

This was a bit of an odd bunch of songs. Interesting though. I didn't think much of a lot of the album, to be honest. I assume I'll like Rumours more. My favourite song was Save Me a Place.

From a Fleetwood Mac fan, Tusk doesn't quite hit the mark for me. I understand the vision of it not being a 'Rumours 2' and think the variedness is there. There a number of cracking tracks within the album. However, reviewing the album as a whole it appears non-cohesive. As such, It's a 3.5 for me.

Not as immediate as "Rumours," but I found a lot to like here. "That's All for Everyone," really stood out to me and I'm fairly certain I'd never heard that before. It feels like an album of moods; there'd be a lot of usage of the word "vibe" if this were being reviewed in 2023. Does it need more tracks with Stevie Nicks taking the lead? Probably. Definitely. But I can see me listening to this again and finding even more to appreciate on repeated listens.

Solid album overall. Knew some of the singles but not the entirety. Didn't realize Stevie wasn't always the main vocalist, seems like the hits all feature her up front. A bit long overall, but not bad.

I don't have the best impression of Fleetwood Mac but I'm excited to give them a chance. I was not psyched to find out this album has 20 songs though. Over and Over is pretty good, probably a song you'd slow dance to at a wedding. The Ledge is fine, I don't like the lyrics that much but the instrumental is interesting. I can see how it inspired people. Think About Me is pretty good, so far the closest song to being added to my playlist. Sara sounds familiar to me but I can't place it. The chords in the beginning kind of remind me of Video Killed the Radio Star. What Makes You Think You're the One is okay, at times I don't like it but at others I do. I think if Storms came out now it'd be on a bunch of people's study playlists, it's calm and quiet. It's at Sisters of the Moon where I realized I vastly prefer Stevie Nicks vocals over the other guy, I only really know her name. The Angel chord progression reminds me of Werewolves of London. That's Enough for Me reminds me of the Land of the Lost intro a little bit, it's the guitar in the background. Never Forget sounds like it could be the closer to a coming of age movie. My final review of the album is, "Wow they really just did stuff back then, huh?"

Enjoy Fleetwood Mac. Not one of their best. Hard to follow-up to Rumors.

Not much to object to. A lot of individual tracks are strong. All the performances are clean as well. It's just a little poppy with too much open air in a lot of the tracks.

This is good, the songs are great, but check out Camper Van Beethoven's recording of Tusk. I strongly prefer the CVB version...

I love the songs I love, namely the title track and The Ledge. Mostly I find this album a bit too indulgent and a bit too directionless

I must have seen the Tusk video with the marching bands hundreds of times when I was a kid, but had never listened to the album. It's a strange collection.

There are some Fleetwood Mac songs that I think are fabulous and I am more than happy when I hear them. I would not say the same about their repertoire - most of it doesn’t have any effect on me at all although I appreciate how talented they all are. Here I prefer when Stevie Nicks sings - she is their powerhouse. Although Tusk (the song) I find incredibly stirring. Those drums and the brass band and the increasing urgency. Glorious! That song alone gets a 5 but overall I wasn’t that excited.

As far as the number of tracks goes, this is a bit overkill; but even so, most songs are at least OK, if not better. There's nothing mindblowing or stellar here, but this is a solid album nonetheless. 3/5

This is really patchy. I really like it in places, but really don't in others. Starts off very bland, has some really interesting bits interspersed with some dross in the middle, then bland again towards the end. Just didn't fit together very well (did they decide to make an experimental album or is the album referred to as experimental because it's an incoherent mess?). 3/5, just.

Tusk is a pop rock double album and is the 12th album by British-American rock band Fleetwood Mac. The album was more experimental than previous works and was regarded as a flop commercially because it only sold half the amount (4 million) than the previous album "Rumours" did (10 million). Although critically the album was a success around the world and has been certified double platinum in the US. It's now praised for its experimental and unpolished nature. I liked this album, but it's not my favorite Fleetwood Mac album.

Soon, I'm throwing up all over my brand new diamond encrusted loafers at how disgusting the music of Fleetwood Mac truly is. It's such a basic bitch and makes my toes curl and my dick shrink back up inside my bloated body. How dare they?

Enjoyed this, didn't expect to, mainly because I was expecting it to be turgid shite like Rumours. Good. Carry on.

Odd one, considering this is probably their 8th best album (and I'm assuming there won't be 7 more mac albums). It's a weird hodgepodge of stuff...definitely Buckingham's attempt to prove he was a real "artist." Sometimes works. A couple definitely sound like demos for a Vacation movie. McVie the weak songwriting link at this point. Not sure who was fucking who during the making of this record.

That’s All for Everyone: has a tamped-down ethereal sound. Simple lyrics. Not that Funny: the energy is back! Sisters of the Moon: the energy changes, the coven is near. Angel: Sara with a little more power. And more voices. That’s Enough for Me: I love Lindsey. The playing, the voice, the tempo. Brown Eyes: I keep waiting for it to rock out but it remains repressed. I thought it might at the end but it didn’t. Never Make Me Cry: solid I Know I’m Not Wrong: straight-ahead beat. Lindsey Honey Hi: Christine with great harmonies Beautiful Child: poignant, pretty. Seems like a precursor to Landslide Walk a Thin Line: simple, a bit plodding Tusk: JACKPOT! Never Forget: a fine song, but a let down after Tusk I’m listening on Spotify and after the original it goes into the remastered versions. Not commenting on those, but all the power and ‘rock out-ness’ I wished for on the original was there.

Oh boy. Look, I enjoy Fleetwood Mac for the most part but not so much this. Too long. Way too long. There are good songs, particularly the title track. There are other good songs too but it's hard to really remember them. I think my opinion might change a tad if I spent more time with the album, but I'll be honest: I'm not so sure that I will. I tend to prefer Stevie Nicks songs and she is not heavily featured here, another issue that I had with the album. Frankly, this is a band where I know what I like from the band. I want Silver Springs, Dreams, Rhiannon, etc Yeah mostly hits. This didn't deliver what I wanted, I respect the artistic choice to change up after Rumours but this just didn't work for me. This thing cost a mil in 1979? Yeesh

I'd heard Tusk was an experimental, overblown mess that confused people, so I thought it might be right up my street (plus I was familiar with the title track, which absolutely slaps). In truth it’s not all that weird, but it is a bit inconsistent in style and in quality. In general I’m a big fan of the scuzzy Lindsey Buckingham numbers like The Ledge, but the Nicks/McVie tracks don’t match up to their Rumours offerings. Still enjoyed it though: 3 / 3.5

Interesting album with too many songs that didn't seem to fit. It had different vibes that made it feel like two different artist worked on it amd the song didn't follow up strongly. Still some great song and enjoyable for the most part.

I find it hard to judge this album. A lot of the songs just do nothing for me emotionally, and just sound like talented artists playing boring songs. When I count out the songs I like though, there are at least five (Sara, Sisters of the Moon, The Ledge, Storms, That's all for everyone), which is a good number for a regular album. Sprinkling them in among 15 other boring songs makes for a bad album listening experience though.

Arma de dos filos

Tusk is a legendary album - especially due to its absurd cost. It feels more evident than in previous and later albums, that the three main songwriters (Buckingham, Nicks and McVie) wrote these tracks individually. Especially Buckingham’s songs stand out.. But often not for the better. “Not That Funny” and “That’s Enough for Me” are totally misplaced and it’s clear that he had wanted the band to go in a whole new direction - not an easy goal to achieve when the songwriters are given almost total individual freedom. Nicks’ provides some of the best songs, “Storms” and “Sisters of the Moon” while McVie offers both great moments and easily forgettable ones. At almost 75 minutes this is filled with both classic Fleetwood and a glimpse into a new direction for the band. In the end neither are pursued all the way and the result is, though most often great, somewhat incoherent.

Very hit and miss. Christine’s & Stevie’s songs are solid to great (an album of just them would be 4-5 stars), but Lindsey’s songs are not good. They feel like incomplete snippets of things that he wanted to yell in Stevie’s face, and whatever he was going for with his guitar tone doesn’t work for me. Even Tusk is fun and sounds epic but lyrically is overly simplistic and not particularly interesting.

I didn't like it too much. Bit slow for my liking and didn't have the longboard song.

This solidifes that I don't like a double album generally. If I carved a good 30-40 minutes off this, it would be much tastier as a project.

I sincerely do not know why, but everything from Fleetwood Mac sounds to me like a copy. Sometimes a Beatles copy, Beach Boys copy, copy, copy copy... I know this is not true, but I cannot rate it with more than three stars.

Very mellow

Een paar echt geweldige nummers, maar als geheel zeker niet hun sterkste album.

Where's Stevie? Buckingham and McVie are of course great songwriters, but i'm three songs in and all I've heard from the lead vocalist of the band is a quiet backing vocal. Feels like the power struggle within the band can really be felt at this point. Ok so the Stevie songs have hit and wow, head and shoulders above B and M's songs. Her songs are so moody and powerful, probably even better than her Rumours work. That being said, B and M's songs pale in comparison with their near-perfect pop contributions to Rumours. The production is more experimental in parts (The ledge), more traditional in others (Save me a place) and not particularly cohesive or polished.

I wouldn't want to be the follow-up album to Rumors either. Over & Over starts on a pretty somber and slow foot. Its very ethereal and transitory. 10 songs in and Sisters Of The Moon is the first song I have liked on this. Tusk is a lot of fun. Ultimately, the album itself is not bad, not great, with a couple fun songs and other I'm not very keen on.

This is an interesting album for them, definitely more "experimental." Some of the tracks are a bit longer and more indulgent/jam-y. I like it! UPDATE: "Tusk" turns into a straight up marching band anthem! I love the unexpected turns in music happening on this record. I just wish it weren't over an hour long.

It was an okay album but there are other Fleetwood Mac albums that I enjoy more.

I liked bits of this but I don't understand the need for this to be as long as it is.

Fews hits, but too long. Amazing voice from one of my fav singer : Stevie Nicks, but still too long ;)

There are a lot of very strong songs on the disc (Sara, Sisters of the Moon, Brown Eyes, Walk A Thin Line, etc). It would have been a good 35-40 minutes of excellent material. Unfortunately, these tracks are drowned in fillers equivalent in duration. So I'm giving this album a 3, but it would have been a strong 4 without the completely useless songs like Not That Funny. Also, I have to mention... Damn. Stevie Nicks vocal performances are always so spot on!

Fleetwood Mac are my favourite radio band. If one of their songs comes on the radio, I will always turn it up and sing along. Love it. But I never choose to put their records on the turntable, with the exception of the Tusk 7”, which I love for its weirdness and the nostalgic memory of the ABC playing the video in the 5 minute break between the Goodies and the 7pm news on a pretty regular basis. I know the reputation of this album; wilfully weird, overblown, expensive and coked out. This was Lindsay Buckingham’s reaction to the incredible success of Rumours and the rise of post-punk. He wanted to forge his own thing, and this was it. It amazes me that he spent a million bucks recording an album that sounds this badly recorded. Never before, and likely never again. Is this Fleetwood Mac’s White Album? There are some superficial similarities (double album, studio weirdness, clearly identifiable songs from different songwriters, arguably better as a single LP, but no one will agree on what tracks would be on it). There is probably a pretty good follow-up to Rumours if you compiled the Stevie Nicks and Christine MacVie songs, with the fresher production take preventing it from being just Rumours 2.0. And the production on these songs is not that weird. This would a total radio favourite and solid 3 star album. And then an album of Lindsay Buckingham songs, especially The Ledge, Walk a Thin line and Tusk. They are idiosyncratically recorded (although now quite contemporary sounding). They are strong songs, but with quite an unusual approach for the time, which has been quite influential in the 2000s. I can see why the hipsters picked up on this record. I am considering playlisiting just his songs for an Abbreviated Tusk, which would be an interesting listen for me, and something I would play regularly. More to my taste, and 4 stars. But, as it stands, this is a three star album. Like it, a few standout tracks, but needs a big edit and would never choose to put it on the turntable.

Coked-out excess - all over the place but better than I was expecting for a double set.

How do you follow the best album of all time? Disappointment. After capturing lightning in a bottle on Rumours the only way is down. It feels a lot like The White Album to Sgt. Pepper: a bit disjointed and unfiltered. A collection of ideas for tracks that never really got focused into a cohesive album. A few nice moments but nothing to elevate beyond middle of the road.

A sprawling double album written on cocaine. It didn't have the stature of its predecessor but is is still a solid album. Production is very tight.. *Those funeral dry drums) Sara remains my favorite Mac song (though on the on the original album it was hacked from 6 to 3 minutes) Sentiment says its a 4...but I think its really a 3.

This would be a tough album to make given the success of Rumours. Looking for a different sound was probably the right decision so they would avoid falling into the formulaic music trap. The album is good but it is certainly not the type of album that would get a lot of airplay at house parties in the late 70s. It just didn't have the magic that Rumours and the preceding Fleetwood Max album had.

nope, boring. 2.5/5 at best

While there were some classic songs on this album, the pacing was all off. It went from slow sweet singing from Stevie Nicks, to fast paced shouting from Lindsey Buckingham, it does this multiple times, leaving the listener confused and rattled. The album also had quite a bit of filler, i feel that it wouldve been better as a single album with 10 songs and a 37 minute run time than 20 songs and a 74 minute runtime. A double album simply isn’t ideal to listen all in one setting. Not to say double albums are all bad, one of the best albums of all time is a double album: Songs In The Key Of Life, by Stevie Wonder. I wouldve liked this much more if it had been more sonically consistent.

Hope abides in the first track, such beautiful vocals and a wonderfully composed track. If the album was entirely in this mood, the rank would have been higher, but alas, it was not. "Tusk" is an eccentric album. Even after two listens, the sentiments are hard to narrow down. Maybe that is a pro disguised as the con? At a risk of oversimplification, all of the female led tracks were great, and all of the guy led tracks were seemingly from another album.

Gotta love the vocals, and the songs as standalones are all perfectly fine, but I find a lot of FM's stuff really samey and difficult to stay engaged in when it comes to listening to a whole album.

Not nearly as wacky as people are describing it. Favorites: "Tusk", "I'm Not Wrong", "Sara", "Never Forget" Might change my opinion on it after a relisten but some songs are genuinely hard to get through

J’ai embarqué tardivement dans Fleetwood Mac avec l’album précédent Rumours. Cet album n’est pas aussi facile d’approche et bien sûr, on cherche à le comparer. C’est un album long et ça joue souvent en défaveur des albums. Il y a quand même des pièces qui ont attirées mon attention comme The Ledger, Sara, That’s All For Everyone, Sisters of the moon, Brown Eyes, Beautiful Child. Bref, la production est super bonne. Je vais sûrement y revenir.

Great album. I usually listen to rumors but this album offered a fun and different feel.

Haven't listened to this entire LP since it was released back in 1979. Starts off OK with “Over and Over” from Christine McVie then Lindsey Buckingham follows up with the hoedown fail “The Ledge”. Next song “Think About Me” is OK, then some more Lindsey Buckingham drivel, “Save me a Place”. Thankfully Stevie Nicks brings it back with “Sara”. Good song, and light years ahead of the previous tracks. Of course LB follows up with another turd. He did not recover well from his breakup with Stevie, as his songs here really suck ass. “Storms” is a Stevie Nicks sleepy bedtime tune, and Lindsey ups his game slightly with the very mediocre “That’s All for Everyone”, but have no fear as he’s right back to type with “Not that Funny” - he was right. 🤮 Thank god for Stevie Nicks (and Christine McVie) as their voices push “Sisters of the Moon” a notch above the songwriting. Buckingham guitar here is really good. Ditto for the vocals on “Angel”. “That’s Enough for Me” is a thankfully short wannabe stomper. “Brown Eyes” is another track destined for the background mix tape at the Sleep Study Center. By the time we get to “Never Make Me Cry”, another mediocre song with a pleasant vocal, I’m thinking ‘Who thought this deserved to be a double LP?’ This is a stinking mess of shit compared to Rumours. “I know I’m not Wrong” confirms my last sentence. “Honey Hi” is nondescript background tune, and “Beautiful Child” is another snoozer showcasing great vocals. Disappointing. Ditto for “Walk a thin Line” minus the great vocals. Then we get to the title track - “Tusk”. Finally some meat on the bone! This song slow-burns and absolutely rocks - phenomenal percussion. It’s the kind of song to crank after you’ve strapped on the armor, sharpened your sword and begun the long march towards the breach. The album wraps up with “Never Forget”. Oops, I did. This should have been a 45. “Sara” on side A, and “Tusk” on B. 2.5 and rounding up. Also note that I was stuck on a three hour flight, so this is what you get…

This was a pretty disappointing album. I was looking forward to listening to it after I looked at the song list and realized I had only ever heard a couple of the tracks. Turns out the tracks I knew were the only ones listening to. This is probably a 1 star album if Sara and Tusk aren't on here. And I'm pretty sure Sara is only good because Stevie could sing the phone book and it would be worth listening to.

Some songs are boring. The ballads are much better.

The Fleetwood Mac equivalent of the Beatles White album - a weird mix of well crafted pop songs, half thought out ideas that don't really cut it, fabulous harmonies and over-production. Someone needed to slap Lindsey Buckingham with a wet kipper and tell him, "this track ain't good enough." Would have been a great single album.

I generally like Fleetwood Mac but this was a departure from what I thought if as their sound. I thought most of the album was ok but nothing standout. It was like a collection of solid background music not a killer album like Rumors.

I liked it. Didn't blow my socks off.

Can't help but compare this to The Beatles' White Album. Lot of randomly assembled and disjointed songs with no tonal consistency and while I love the White Album it'd be an awful introduction the band. Unfortunately, this is my introduction to the band and it's left me feeling like I'm missing the context needed to enjoy it.

Didn't listen to whole album but it got some great songs. Will revisit again.

Od strony produkcyjnej bardzo miód dla uszu, szczególnie na głośnikach (na słuchawkach, momentami, panning okazywał się dla mnie bardzo irytujący i potrafił odwrócić moją uwagę od muzycznej strony projektu) - ale co się dziwić kiedy wyjebali na produkcję taką kupę forsy. Muzycznie wszystkie kawałki są bardzo przyjemne, jednak w większości nie urzekły mnie od strony kompozycyjnej i zabrakło mi w tym czegoś intrygującego, żebym miał później ochotę wracać do tego albumu jako całości, bo nie wywołał on we mnie większych emocji (wcale nie dlatego, że mój gust opiera się w dużej mierze o mroczne i pokręcone klimaty), z wyjątkiem kilku kawałków które jednak wybiły się ponad szereg i zrobiły na mnie wrażenie. W dużym skrócie: świetny record, ale emocjonalnie dupy mi nie urwał Ulubione kawałki: The ledge (ultra lekki, catchy i energetyczny, bez banalnych rozwiązań mimo wszystko), Sara (nie wiem czemu ale skojarzyło się mi momentami przez melodię z the winner takes it all i zrobiło mi się sentymentalnie, nie przez miłośc do abby, ale ze względu na wykorzystanie tego utworu w jednym z najbardziej emocjonalnych momentów w BTCS XD), Brown Eyes (te laid-back momenty z nutą nostalgii mnie kupiły), Tusk (ten poczatek niesztampowy kompletnie mnie urzekł, chyba najbardziej intrygująca kompozycja z całości jak na moje ucho, ze względu na tą ewoluującą kompozycję - dynamika i zmiennośc jest u mnie zawsze na plus).

3 piosenki mi sie bardzo podobaly: The ledge <33 brzmi jak pavement Brown eyes Tusk - woah look at the stereo. Ogolnie totalnie nie siedze w takich klimatach ale przyjemne doświadczenie, produkcja była całkiem niesamowita ale jakbym miał 1.4 miliona dolców na produkcje bym zrobil cos lepszego ;3

Enjoyed this one. Some good songs though none that compare to rumors. Some late 70s vibes but gets a little stale later on in the album.

I was deciding between 3 and 4, but now towards the end I am leaning more towards a 3. I could hear their talent from across the room but it just wasn’t interesting enough for me to feel it. still a great band and album.

Yeah, this is a long album. And not all that poppy (for a band coming off a pop-rock masterpiece). For sure there are some definite pop elements (mostly Christine McVie) but famously (infamously?) it was a conscious effort to not be "Rumours: The Sequel" - total respect for that because it would have been boring, not possible, etc. But so yes - this is a long and a weird one. Not shitty-weird-for-the-sake-of-it-but-ends-up-being-a-pile-of-ass like Velvet goddamn Underground but definitely something way more than a collection of pop songs - it's a diverse mix. While there are some Stevie songs like "Sara" which are the kind of "ah yeah that's some AM-gold Fleetwood Mac (and the rather dull Christine McVie cuts "Over and Over" and "Never Make Me Cry"), but also the title track "Tusk" which I recall getting considerable airplay as a kid. Tusk is sort of an unsettling song... which I like. And to double back so as not to pick on Christine McVie's boring cuts - "Brown Eyes" has a slinky creepy vibe to it that probably couldn't have been a hit yet is still accessible. Love it. Also this album *sounds* amazing - just sonically. Don't listen to it in through chintzy phone speaker - put on some headphones at least. I grew up kinda thinking I hated Fleetwood Mac - as a kid in the late 70s and 80s very into music, I preferred more mystery, more hard-hitting, more drama, and Fleetwood Mac's smooth hits were always on the radio. But this is kinda/sorta their White Album? If I critique it in a negative way, there honestly aren't a lot of amazing songs, but on the other hand there just aren't really any bad ones which is something. What a milquetoast review - ha. I'd sum it up by saying there is a little of everything from good to less good, but it is quite a talented piece of art and I'm glad to give it a revisit, just won't be an all-time favourite of mine. 7/10 3 stars

Yeah was a really cool album. I believe it's the follow up to Rumours (which I love) and I just recently heard an interview with mick Fleetwood about the writing of and recording of the album.

It was ok. It wasn't anything special in my opinion with there being a few songs that actually annoyed me. Overall the feel was chill and low-key, nice to hear at times but bc of some of the annoying songs I will likely stay away from this album. 5/10

Started off sounding generic, but there were some bops in here. The title track slaps

So far I’m finding this just okay. I don’t hate it, but it’s not really jumping at me, either. Honestly, it’s just a lot of the same, and by the middle of the album, it was starting to grate on me.

Honestly surprised me that there was a female voice on the album - genuinely thought it was a male led band. Then I do some extra digging and find out the Stevie Nicks is that voice?! Definitely a TIL. Overall a good alt album which I can see some songs making it onto a road trip playlist. But for the hype that everyone talks about Fleetwood Mac, IMHO, totally overrated. Best: Angel Worst: Honey Hi

ниче не понял, я думал, этот альбом ответит на вопрос, является ли человек по сути своей в глубине души моржом, а тут какая-то хуйня напета.... В общем-то, в разрезе этой группы для меня интересна только одна вещь - насколько же последняя треть прошлого века на западе была богата и процветающа. Как же много денег крутилось в музыкальной индустрии, и перепадало на карман даже в целом невзрачным актам без каких-то уж супер интернациональных хитов. Вот для записи этого полуакустического альбома группа Флитвуд Мак взяла и построила себе отдельную студию. Просто чтобы записать то, что можно было в домашних условиях насобирать (ну ладно, в то время, наверное, запись была не настолько доступна, но всё равно, вы тоооолько вдуууумайтеееееесь). И так было везде - музыканты просто утопали в роскоши, нафармленной с продажи дисков/пластинок. Интересно, конечно, смотреть на это сейчас, когда даже относительно успешные группы вынуждены музыку с работой совмещать. Да и на запись хуй тебе кто денег даст - сначала сам, за свои, запиши и сведи альбом, а потом, так уж и быть, связав тебя анальным контрактом, добрый дядя-издатель великодушно присвоит себе твой труд и твою душу и поместит тебя куда-нибудь на плакатик. Ну да ладно, что по музыке можно сказать? А хуй его знает, честно. Продукт своего времени, очевидно, хиппарские завывания под гитарку с выборочными экспериментами по звучанию. Плохо ли? Да ну не то чтобы, местами прикольно. Достойно ли звания одной из самых коммерчески успешных групп эвер? Ну бля, зависит от опр... да нет, конечно. Если к прорывному Rumours ещё можно отнестись с теплотой из-за реально качевой The Chain, то здесь по большей части нечто постное и закадровое, хоть и без совсем уж "сыра" и блевотного блюза. Количество оценённых песен, кстати, немаленькое, но стоит держать в уме что это (о боги, когда уже это кончится) - двойной альбом на двадцать песен, а следовательно понравилась только его треть. Да и то, как сказать "понравилось"... ну если проблеск хоть чего-то неординарного ловился, то неуверенно ставил палец вверх. Но запало ли хоть что-то прям до глубины души? Да не. Можно послушать: Think About Me, Sara, That's All for Everyone, Sisters of the Moon (наверное, лучшая), Brown Eyes, I Know I'm Not Wrong, Tusk. Можно не слушать: всё остальное. 6/10

Dakle, ima dost dobrih stvari, ali po meni je album dosta dugačak. Definitivno je oko 3.5/5, ali nije 4. Inače, ovo je prvo slušanje albuma, pa je moguće ako bih se opet vratio na album digao rejt, znam da nije ispod 3.5.

I'd rather Jack, than Fleetwood Mac

Fleetwood Mac are amazing but this album was a bit hit and miss for me. Musically it was great and loved a few songs. But not enough to get more than a like. Maybe because some of my favourite songs come later on in their career.

Honestly was a bit disappointed with this. It's fine and some great songs but not as impressive as Rumours IMO. Thought I'd like it more but probably is a grower.

For whatever reason this one of my least listened to FM albums. I generally think that everything they do is genius, but this one is a little too chill for me. A few great tracks on it though.

Compared to Rumors, this album is very boring to me. It’s still great on the technical end (recording, mastering) but the content does not grab me. Other than the 1 or 2 singles cut from this album, the rest is mostly forgettable.

There's some really great songs on here. I'm not a huge FM fan but by all accounts this seems peak Fleetwood. Personally, the album's a little long and the track order is a tad messy. Still a good listen though.

So, so many different sounds on one album. There is a pretty clear influence of drugs on a lot of the more up-paced songs. They go fast, they feel groovy but they make very little sense. Track 2 feels like the essence of cocaine funneled into a song. I've enjoyed half the album thus far, but its all over the place. Only one or two songs feel like they were written with soul. Second half seems to be where the feelings come through. Overall, a very solid listening experience. Ups and downs, fun and serious. Very, very 70s.

The album was fine, but none of the tracks felt like something that I would want to play again individually. "Sara" was the only track that sounded familiar. I did not like several tracks ("What Makes You Think You're the One", "Not That Funny", "Tusk"). Even though there are some tracks where you can hear the quality of Stevie Nicks' voice ("Honey Hi", "Beautiful Child", "Walk a Thin Line"), her voice isn't strong enough to carry the weaker portions of this double album. This was a solid 3 - there was stuff I liked, but would not listen to the album as a whole again. Most of the tracks scored a 3 as well.

Does nothing for me. Possibly a failed experiment, in an attempt to avoid a Rumours2. Probably pleasant enough if you get to know the tracks better.

Pretty decent album, though most songs are a bit too sleepy for my tastes. Rumours wins over Tusk for me. That being said, the song "Tusk" is a jam!

I really like some of the songs on Tusk, but as an album it's not my favorite FM album. It feels like there is a lot of filler here in between the hits. I do appreciate it for it's place in the Fleetwood Mac story.

It's not my favorite Fleetwood Mac, but I like it. It's a little experimental and varies a bit from Rumours, but it's relaxing.

No Rumours.

I mean, it's not Rumours but it's still good.

I was expecting more from this album. It was a lot slower and more subtle than what I’ve heard from them, maybe I’m more of a Fleetwood Mac greatest hits kinda guy.

Better than I remember, and definitely a few gems in there, but compared to previous albums it's just hard to feel completely satisfied

A whole lot of very low key countryish rock that didn't really do a lot for me.

I find Fleetwood Mac boring/uninspiring without Stevie Nick's vocals. So, some big duds on this album for me. Also, way too long. Rumors this ain't. A few ones I liked like Sara but beyond that, I'd never listen to anything on this album.

Usual complaint of albums over an hour, was too long. Good album, not hugely coherent, missed a lot of what makes the Fleetwood Mac sound. Some really good individual songs though.

I have rumours belted into my head so this album just doesn't seem to hit the same heights. Some really nice sounds and harmonies but the songs never really hooked me in.

I know this is a hot take but I've always thought Fleetwood Mac are overrated. I particularly disliked every single one of the Buckingham tracks - What Makes You Think You're the One is especially off putting. Did he have a four year old drumming for him? The fact that the $1million production cost makes it the most expensive album ever made makes it even worse and his attempt to channel David Byrne have fallen very very short. I get the valiant attempt of trying not to make a Rumores 2.0 but fkn hell go easy. McVie's weren't that much better. On the flip side, all the Stevie Nicks tracks are excellent. Sara and Storm were really really good and saved this album from the dreaded Vokes 2/5 rating.

Fleetwood Mac just isn't for me. This is a good album, but I don't see myself coming back to listen to it in the future. I've been waiting for one of those iconic FM tracks to come on and make me take interest in this album, but I don't think it's coming. On the plus side, Rumors autoplayed right after this album, and I really like Rumors 3/5

They really came down hard from all the coke they did in Rumours. Very Relaxing album overall. Just a nice listen. Would like some more energy though.

I like their album Rumors much better. Their music is so precise, it was still a great listen.

Good album but none of the true FMac classics

Not there best but still solid

Long, needs a bit of a fat trim. Seems kind of unfocused. When it hits, I like it, but when it doesn't, grows stale very quickly. Favorite tracks: "Think About Me", "That's All for Everyone", "Tusk", "Angel"

I don't know that this album did anything to make it on to this list.

Underwhelming. I was excited for this one and it really was pretty bleh. A bit better on repeat.

I never liked Tusk, honestly. If you cut the album in half, it would still feel uneven. The entire second half of the album, apart from the title track, is not worth going through, and the first half isn't that clean from weak tracks either. The majority of the tracks led by Lindsey Buckingham in particular are straight up bad. Not to mention how poorly recorded the entire thing is. Other than five or six admittedly great songs, I doubt I'll ever listen to Tusk again.
