Classic
Great album. Another solid 4/5
Best enjoyed sparking a joint on a dock in the bayou or a tunnel in Vietnam.
Great album from a legendary band. Starred 3 songs. Love their southern rock and blues sound.
Good stuff
Great! Proud Mary is the best song!
I mean, it's great. It's hard to understate how great it is. "Born on the Bayou", "Bootleg", "Proud Mary"... it's full of jams. Unfortunately, it also has an ill-advised cover of "Good Golly Miss Molly" and that doesn't sit great. It just plays like another white band taking great songs by black artists and calling them their own. CCR didn't butcher the song by any measure, but it still feels weird to hear anyone but Little Richard perform it. Especially a bunch of white boys from Cali.
CCR in their short but sweet prime is pretty hard to top. It was funny the day I learned they were more or less all California hippies because I had assumed for years they came out of an actual swamp in Louisiana. The album certainly sounds it. Best song: Born on the Bayou
This album was a total banger! Recognized a few songs anyone would recognize and enjoyed the rest of the album as well! Looking forward to more!
Super cool but not long enough
Classic blues rock
great bluesy late 60s album. proud mary definetely a highlight but a lot of strong tracks. strong instrumentals and vocals
A short timeline: – Booooring – Cool music to patrol the Lòng Tàu to, though – [Stank Face] Nice, actually. Raw, rough, primal. As if everything is eager to match Fogerty's voice. Maybe just because it's so worn, but Proud Mary might be the weakest track here? I briefly checked the other albums and, barring Fortunate Son, I do not need a lot more of Creedence Clearwater Revival in my life - it seems they have shaved off the edge later - but this one was rather fun. Plus, it was only 33 minutes. 4 stars, why not.
Short album, but had some good tunes on it.
Absolute Swampy hippie blues best
I really enjoyed their version of Good Golly Miss Molly and Penthouse Pauper was fun. Proud Mary is a perfect piece of music. The other songs felt kind of fillerish to me, that being said, CCR is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands.
From the first track, Born on the Bayou, I cranked this one up. This is an early one of theirs and I wasn't so familiar with most of the songs. They have so many amazing songs that are on their later albums, but this definitely set the tone. This is proper Vietnam War music.
Great Americana. Just a unique sound that I'm always happen to listen to.
Like it. Got it.
Many iconic sounds/riffs/melodies that have been copied so many times at this point that they’ve become a cliche. Brilliant album that has clearly been an inspiration for many.
Short, sweet, and simple with a driving rock sound. It’s hard to believe this is the first of three albums CCR released in 1969 but I guess that explains why it’s only half an hour long. This version of Proud Mary is a timeless classic and every other song has replayability. There really isn’t much negative to say about this one, other than its brevity. Great instrumental sections, meaningful lyrics, and a decent level of variation within the seven songs. It’s a strong four with a potential to be a five the more I listen to it.
In a world with 3.5 hour long movies, 4 hour long concerts, and every new film idea being dragged out into 10 episode tv series, it's nice to have an album only 35 minutes long. What's to say about CCR? You know all their hits, and some of them are on here. The ones you don't know are 8 minutes of pure swamp doggin'. Put a pot of water with spices on the stove and play this album. When "Bootleg" starts, put red potatoes and sausage in the boiling water. Add corn at "Good Golly Miss Molly". Put the crawfish in when "Keep On Chooglin'" begins, and enjoy a good ole fashion Low Country Boil once the album ends!
Not my favorite CCR album but it's always a good listen.
I realized that even though I really like CCR and John Fogerty, I've never listened to a full CCR album before. This was a pretty enjoyable listen. Some of the songs ran a bit long and got a little too close to jam band territory, but I was definitely vibing to the music. The lyrics of "Bootleg" were pretty gross, but the rest of the album was good. "Graveyard Train" was probably my favorite song, followed by "Born on the Bayou." Fogerty's great at constructing little stories with his lyrics. The Little Richard cover was decent, and of course "Proud Mary" is a classic. "Keep on Chooglin" will keep you dancing to the end. 4/5
Good stuff!
A good, solid album!
Fun and interesting enough, despite many of its features becoming cliche over time.
Hermoso. Una de mis bandas preferidas de todos los tiempos. Amé. Me encantó este disco. Gracias. Excele te
Short but good music
Baby they sound GOOD! Couple of the songs run together but Proud Mary alone nets this album a four.
Not my favorite CCR album, but when most of their stuff is top tier being lower on the scale doesn’t lower you too much.
ccr is fire
Bluesier album with some hits. The brick man song had great drum
GET TO THE CHOPPER!! 4/5
Very chill and happy, easy listen
Keep on chooglin', I guess? 4 stars.
Esuchable el mejor hasta ahora de 4 que llevo.
Toffe plaat, toffe sound! Denk dat veel (of alle?) rockbands waar ik zelf veel naar luister(de) wel op de 1 of andere manier schatplichtig zijn aan CCR. Maakt nieuwsgierig naar ander werk van deze groep.
Loved it.
Really liked it
classic
It was super nice to listen to while working.
Great album! I recognized one song. I knew about this band from my dad, but never really listen to it much. This is a great album and I’ll add it to my digital collection. Definitely gonna listen to it again. Cool mood and sound.
I appreciated the wholehearted attempt to make chooglin’ a thing.
A great classic blues rock album to rediscover on a sunday morning.
I like the "dusty" vibe! I knew CCR only by "Proud Mary" song, but the album was a welcomed surprise.
Beste Songs (neben Proud Mary): "Born on the Bayou" und "Keep on Chooglin".
Glorious swampy blues rock!
Recognised more songs than I thought I would
Pretty solid blues rock from the late '60s. It's understandable how it became a classic, it's well-written and the melodies easily get stuck in your head. I love the guitar parts, full of licks (the blues influence is strong there), and how their create a discussion with the lead singer.
Original proud mary! expecting a 3 but maybe that's my default rating for non-dad-rock-albums. I gotta say a toe tapper.
Never listened a full CCR album, only greatest hits. Short album. Great sound.
Groovy. Some really slow hypnotic stuff on here that you don't get from the anthology album.
Proper strange But GOOD GOLLY MS MOLLY
I wish I didn’t dig these old classic rock albums as much as I do. I blame my upbringing. 4 stars
Had to get my credence tapes back to listen to this one. Fun country rock album that’s super easy to listen to. Fun guitar riffs, fun harp riffs, fun all around. Some bangers in there.
Fantastic album by one of the purest rock acts. Fogerty was a mad, frantic genius. Great album, not all time transcendent work of art. I'd go 4.5 if that was a thing.
Solid album 7.8/10
Bayrou Country ici 😔
4.2
Great old stuff.
ладно, подамся очарованию алкоальбом: ерш
nice vibe. there is one song that goes on way too long but other than that it's pretty good.
Creedence 👌
Standouts: Proud Mary, Born on a Bayou, Bootleg,
I liked
exactly what it needs to be. Tight, spare. Proud mary. Good golly miss molly, pretty themed. the unkowns are tight. Keep on chooglin still silly
I liked it. Cool cover. I like JF’s voice
Love Creedence, but they’ve got stronger albums. Still thoroughly enjoyed these 33 minutes, though!
Can't go wrong with some classic CCR
Mon père écoutait cet album pendant les longs trajets en voiture. Je me souviens écouter Born on the bayou en regardant le soleil qui se couche.
Great album, been a long time since I'd listened to it all the way through.
I can listen to this for a very long time. Feeling like a real dude here and there.
I love the gritty, raw, imperfect sounds of CCR. I love John Fogerty’s gruff voice, I love the loose snare sound, I love the guitar tone they use. And not only that, but there are some great songs on this album, in particular “Proud Mary,” which may be one of the greatest songs ever written. Though I don’t view this as one of CCR’s best albums, it is still an excellent entry in their impressive catalogue.
Huge w
Hyvää soitantaa ja miellekästä yksinkertaista musiikkia sopii soitettavaksi..
8/10
Some classics on this one.
first listen
4.0 - Rock solid as any CCR record.
What I think Classic Rock is
Classic Americana.
Great Album, especially I enjoyed Proud Merry
4/5
Un excellent album de CCR, il y a probablement just Proud Mary que j'ai trop entendue, mais sinon c'est vraiment très bon. Pas tellement de négatif à dire. 9/10
Creedence eh excelente
Was a very enjoyable listen.
I love CCR, even though I feel conflicted about them cosplaying as a bayou boys. And this album really plays up their deep south act. Bayou Country puts a southern twist on some of their contemporaries music. I hear influences from the Beatles and Blood Sweat and Tears on songs like Penthouse Pauper. Other songs, like Born on the Bayou and and Proud Mary feel CCR through and through. The only song I didn't really like was Bootleg. Keep On Chooglin' was also a lowlight on the album. Best Songs: Born on the Bayou, Penthouse Pauper Worst Songs: Bootleg, Keep On Chooglin'
Born on a bayou, Proud Mary (Rollin on a river) good golly miss molly
Awesome album
Excellent album, testament to a certain period in time when rock music was still finding it's feet. I like the 'groovy' element in the songs, where the band takes it time to 'find' the riffs and groove. Solid 4.
Definitively 70s American. Bluesy as all hell. Southern vibes. Good golly miss molly
Classic...absolutely slaps...would be a 5 but Tina does Proud Mary better
Nice Vibe - a few classics on this album!
I actually liked this more than Cosmo's Factory. 3.5/5
3.5
Bayou country is good, kinda zone out on some songs tho
Just want to say for the last Bruce Springsteen album the song “Darkness On the Edge of Town” was a banger. This was the first time I thought his voice worked. Drumming was great. I even added it to my liked songs 😳 I couldn’t go back to edit my review :( This album was great. I was a big fan of the mix of acoustic and electric guitar. Good golly miss molly was a banger. Singers voice was really unique and definitely fit the style. I would get this on vinyl.
Absolutely a banger album. Cajun as fuck. I listened to this album twice today and it put me in such a great mood. I feel like I’m on a raft going through rural Louisiana. Haven’t listened to CCR in a while and forgot how much I love them.
The album is a 4/5, but ‘Good Golly Miss Molly’ is a 5/5.
Its a sunny day and I am in the back garden. Budweiser in hand, proudly sporting my beer belly as I flip a burger on the barbeque. This is what being 40 is all about. Quite a short album, does not overstay its welcome. Graveyard train has no right to be 8+ minutes though. you could cut that song in half and this album could be one for regular rotation. Keep on chooglin' might also fall into this category but I'll let it slide as its the closing track and it has some ripping solos. Plus I like the word chooglin'. I have no idea what it means but John Fogerty seemed quite insistent that I continue doing it. I'll take his word on it, that word being chooglin'.
Love CCR! Great album from start to finish.
SWAMP ROCK BABY
Classic band and a couple classics on this album. Fun tunes.
Doesn't have the consistency of Green River and it a bit more up and down, but it's CCR, so it's still pretty dang good. 3.5/5
Not behd, some of the slow songs were too long and the solos too long. Overall a banger though. Apart from the obvious ones, good golly miss Molly and penthouse pauper were good
Loved this, swampy, Americana Louisiana, psychedelic rock vibes.
Lebowski approved
Good, but not exceptional.
This is a great album, but I can not stand the word “Chooglin’.” As such, 4 stars.
Fun party stuff
Bluesovy Graveyard Train super, ostatne fajn, niektore mozno trosku dlhsie (Born on the bayou), niektore dlhe tak akurat (Keep on chooglin), super juzansky mood, nastastie nie su juzania, vtedy by to asi nefungovalo :)
Soundtracky AF
Great, gritty, not-so-southern rock! These guys shaped Americana forever and gave power back to the rockers!
Some great. Some weak.
Yet again… not a CCR fan. Or so I thought. I haven’t heard this record end to end before. And have intentionally avoided these songs because I heard them too damn much on FM a rock stations back in the day. But I really enjoyed it to my surprise.
The singles are just classics at this point. A quality listen all the way through.
Some classic songs on this album. And it's really good. But I didn't enjoy it quite as much as Cosmo's Factory even though it's a really good album.
5.5/7
Probably not the best Creedence album but it's still pretty solid. I will admit the songs where it felt like they were a jam band grooving in someone's garage for example Graveyard Train and Keep on Chooglin'. Just didn't work for me despite normally being into that kind of stuff. I think it just goes to show that (unsuprisingly) that John Foggerty absolutely carries this band. Either way I'll probably give it a high 3 low 4. There's just better Creedence albums out there than this one here despite the fact they'll probably all get 4 stars.
I love southern rock in general, but Creedence Clearwater Revival is quickly becoming my favorite band in the genre
Me gustó bastante, los toques de rock y blues, un toque clásico pero a la vez suena contemporáneo, divertido de escuchar y al ser corto se me pasó volando
Really good album. Tons of sick solo's. Favorite track: Proud Mary
Fun listen gives “dad rock” vibes if dad rock was actually cool. many classic tracks I’ve heard before but nice to hear them in the context of an album. also didn’t know they were from el cerrito interesting
Classic, a little bit slow, but probably perfect for the bayou.
*raspy vocal* *guitar fill* repeat for 33 minutes Pretty good though, wasn't familiar with their work beyond the hits
Gritty, classic country vocals. Evolution of late 60s to 70s.
Love the album and rate 8/10. East listening and very fun.
Proud Mary is a rightfully popular tune, the entire album has a coherent sound and makes you think if a simpler time
An absolutely solid 34 minutes of zero filler. Didn't realize how many bangers were on this album.
Fav: Keep On Chooglin' LF: Graveyard Train Eh like a low 8, great vibe
CCR has a great sound and great songs. Especially enjoyed Proud Mary and Down on the Bayou.
Love it. Pure classic rock.
Awesome swamp rock but not Creedence best album in my opinion. Some classic songs like Proud Mary.
Great rock and roll
Rocking in all the best ways. Takes one to the time when today's dad rock was for the youth!
Good blues & rock n roll infusion. Wife liked it too
3.75
Hello
CCR is always great!
Never met a Creedence record I didn’t like
Meh
Heard this described as swamp rock Very consistently good songs, can’t believe they did fortunate sons and I didn’t know it No idea what lyrics were about, but enjoyed the listen
So far two listens and just a phenomenal record. Proud Mary will always be the number one CCR song, but this album has a lot of good tracks. "Born on the Bayou", "Bootleg", "Graveyard Train", "Penthouse Pauper". Fantastic record.
Dit is een album dat ik dagelijks kan luisteren. Ik hou het simpel. 4 reeten
Excellent
A very chill and upbeat album with a great mix of genres
Bayou Country by CCR delivers that unmistakable southern sound. 'Proud Mary' is a timeless standout, and while not every track hits the same high note, the album's charm is undeniable. 🐊🎶 Rating: 4/5
Fun. Rockin'. Iconic.
Love CCR
Great album. Love CCR.
Like it a lot, no bad songs
Proud Mary alone is enough to put this album on this list, and the rest is solid enough.
All the essence of CCR in a 34 minute brilliant album. The strong vocal, the simple melodies. It has everything to come back and listen to it again. Very non-stressful and easy-going.
I think what this album showcases are credence clearwater revival are a great jamming band.
That voice! Blues-Rock. I really liked the album - I especially liked the laid back "Graveyard Train" and "Keep On Chooglin'". The album also features their hit "Proud Mary".
You don't need me to tell you this album is good. You've probably already heard the whole thing played throughout 20 different Vietnam War movies
This is a fun album. I had never dug into CCR's deeper catalog much but have always enjoyed their music when it comes on. They have a great, raw sound on this album. The guitars sound amazing and they have a couple of long, jammy songs on here, which I didn't realize was part of their sound. Standout Tracks: Born on the Bayou, Bootleg, Good Golly Miss Molly, Proud Mary, Keep On Chooglin'
Cat: CCR is definitely a vibe! Bluesy and gritty. AJ: muddy swamp blues. Songs about hound dogs and moonlight and hound dogs in the moonlight. And trains. Rhythm section is rocksolid, and I was pleasantly surprised by some of the guitar jams. CCR is for everyone. and everyone should listen every once in a while. #Chooglin
1 = Turned it off, couldn't handle it anymore 2 = Listened to it fully, but I didn't really like it 3 = Ok I guess? 1 or 2 interesting songs, but that's it 4 = Multiple good songs / I would listen to the album again sometimes 5 = I will listen to this on repeat for the foreseeable future + Can't buy me love + Any time at all 4/5 I like their songs enough that I wouldn't mind playing it in the background again, but I was sick of love songs at the end of the album.
One thing I like about this project is that it allows you to join the dots: I had no idea CCR did "Proud Mary." The rest is pretty good; solid and consistent like a nice poo.
Everyone knows CCR and this album is a must listen! Glad to see it included in this list. Favorite song pick: Born on the Bayou
Classic CCR. Too bluse-y for my everyday.
pretty good
Classic CCR.
I really don’t like CCR. They are an annoying band with a distinctly annoying sound. But this album is kind of good. I don’t like saying it but I have to acknowledge that it jams.
Born On the Bayou is about as CCR as things get. Great little melody with Fogerty's gravel-soaked voice crooning over top. Bootleg turns over to an acoustic strum intro with a gradual build. Features call and response between the vocals and lead guitar. Good song for driving down the road to and bobbing your head. Graveyard Train is a blues song propelled by a slowly walking bass guitar line. Kind of goes nowhere for 8 minutes. There is a harmonica interlude, but in general this is just ambient mood music. Not bad, but nothing interesting either. Good Golly Miss Molly is a ripper. Standard rock riff and progression with some slick, effective guitar work. Jam. Penthouse Pauper follows up in a similar vein with some slick licks over top of a rather standard 60s rock rhythm. Groovy little number. Proud Mary is a fine song -- not my favorite of their hits, but it certainly hits a spot. Album rounds out with Keep On Chooglin'. Kind of dropped into the background, but it is a lengthy number featuring all of the CCR goodness you come for. I have mostly experienced CCR through radio hits and haven't dug into an album front to back. This was a solid listen, but nothing revolutionary. CCR had an aura about them and certainly the skills to pay the bills. Soft 4/5 mostly on the atmosphere alone.
Tons of hits of this one. Really like how short this one is. Guitar shreds. Little to complain about on this one.
I'm definitely going to keep on chooglin' CCR is great not much more that I can say
Gimme some of that swamp rock! Born on the Bayou is great. Great songs all in the middle of the album and then another absolute fire track in Proud Mary. It's too bad these guys fought so much and broke up because they made some really good jams.
Good old rock n roll
Good old rock n roll
Proud Mary proud
Damn, these guys just knew exactly how to write concise, effortless rock.
The first great album from CCR. Cosmo's Factory is my favourite but this is the start of CCR being the biggest band in America for a few years.
There is something interesting here, but I'm probably missing something for being too young, non-American or both. Either way, the raw feeling of these songs are not easily found anywhere else. Specially Bootleg, but I guess that was the point. Either way, some worthy mentions are Graveyard Train, for the perfect haunting vibe it transmits, and Good Golly Miss Molly, that guitar riff makes me wanna dance. Proud Mary was also nice, but it may also just be bias from the countless covers I have heard before. Overall a great album.
Maybe not their strongest, but still a good time.
Classic rock with the CCR twang
A Southern sounding album if there ever was one. Played by four California guys. What a marvel! As CCR was nearing its end the rest of the band wanted more individual songwriting credits. Fogerty (you know which brother) allegedly replied: “My voice is a unique instrument, and I will not lend it to your songs.” Granted. He may sound like a douche. But listening to “Born On The Bayou”… I kinda get him.
Fun southern rock. Wild to realize this tone and style were around in the late 60s. I'm learning a lot doing this lol.
Just another solid CCR album, not much more to say.
California is my favorite famous swampland.
Nice blues, raw sound, good album.
CCR isn't typically in my wheelhouse. i enjoy their hits, and they have some fantastic songs. i wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as i did! this genre is formally called swamp rock, but to me it's just a combination of rock, blues, and a good amount of country. i mean, of course it's swamp rock when you have the album opener called "born on the bayou." i'm reminded of tom petty and the heartbreakers, though he was more southern or americana rock, so i'm not sure if that connection works. bayou country is a remarkably even album--this stands out to me after listening to metallica, so maybe some context will help. it's still rock but it's a chill kind of rock music. "graveyard train" is an example of that; it doesn't get very excitable but the bass and the lyrics catch you. the cover of "good golly miss molly" was interesting. while it's still a cover with the slightly changed lyrics, CCR made it their own with their swampy music. and, of course, a special mention: we have to thank john fogerty for tina turner's "proud mary." a delightful 4.5!
Second time was the charm, but CCR nailed it here. This album definitely launched them into stardom and set them as a fixture of a specific brand of folky bluesy rock: swamp rock. This album set an entire trajectory for the band; they would go on to make a massive career from this sound and would just continue tweaking it and developing it over time. They have an entire discography of well-known swamp rock sounds that ultimately found their start with the success of this album. Other bands who would come to seek similar sounds also found inspiration here, so this was definitely an influential album.
That voice will always do it for me. CCR stayed in their comfort zone for this one but that’s good enough.
Amazing how many great songs this band produced in such a short period of time. A couple of those standouts (Proud Mary, Born on the Bayou) are included here. Too bad they didn't last longer.
Exactly what I expected to hear when I pressed play. Not a bad thing just an observation. These guys have a clear sound and vision for what rock and roll should sound like and it works most of the album. The first and last tracks were the highlights for me.
23.05.2023
Loved: Bootleg, Good Golly Miss Molly Disliked: none Graveyard Train was great I felt the length was a little bit long Overall: 8/10
Brilliant album. Reminds me of the nelson.
Objectively 3.5
Nice
With a name that screams Bay Area, it’s surprising how unlike their peers CCR sounded. Singlehandedly bringing a swamp rock sound to the Beatle-infested charts, the frères Fogerty and their school pals blast out alternating hits and jams, the first of three (!) records that year. If you’re looking for the hits you’d do better to grab a best of, but there’s something about throwing on the full record on a hazy afternoon and enjoying the ride through a mythical bayou. Allons-y!
pretty good, nice memorable songs. creedance clearwater revival stan
Liked it, not surprising
i liked all the songs except graveyard train.
Just so readily enjoyable
Good and swampy!
This one has some real highlights and real duds. Giving it a full 4 because I liked this album more in high school.
I know some of these (and it's from the year I was born...). Easy to listen to and right up my street in terms of blues rock. I'd listen to this again without a problem.
I thought kicking off with Bayou was bold but then the album kept producing great songs.
excellent and classic album. Loved it!
Favorite tracks were #1 Born on the bayou, #5 Penthouse Pauper, #6 Proud Mary
Not gonna catch me speaking technically about music on here cuz I don’t know that shit and I’m not one of those loser critics on the internet. I’ve only heard the 2 big ones before listening. Album def creates a certain vibe. Makes me feel like I’m on the bayou. I’ve never been to the bayou. Not gonna catch me listening to this if it’s not hot and humid, luckily for ccr, it’s hot and humid.
4 stars
Fighissimi!
I dig CCR though it’s not my favorite. Surprisingly short album.
4/5
I wasn’t really wowed by this album like it was just what I expect from ccr but I still can’t resist this kind of swampy garage blues. It sounds about the same from track to track but it at least does one thing really really well. Born on the bayou and proud Mary relatively stood out compared to everything else.
Nice, will listening in future
I think CCR has one of the most consistent discographies of any of the groups on this list. They all have that swamp rock sound and they’re all pretty good. Keep on chooglin’ boys. 8/10
Love CCR. 3.5 stars. This has "born on the bayou" and "proud mary"
Enjoyable album, although Chooglin' got a bit repetitive. I guess that's the point.
A little repetitive in chord progression and strum pattern but I can get over that.
This was surprisingly fun - I mean - CCR are usually a good butt of many jokes, but this 33 mins of tightly packed Southern blues is belted out with good feel and proper rocking. It basically sounds like it should and the brevity of the record makes it never overstay it's welcome.
Great authentic sound and rock n roll tunes, you can close your eyes and see yourself down on the bayou.
Lekkere country rock. Ken wel wat pokoes van ze maar stonden allemaal niet hierop. Herkende wel proud mary waarvan tina turner hem blijkbaar gecovered heeft wat ook een lekker plaatje is.
Nice collection of songs and jamming. I never knew this was called swamp rock but when you hear the term it so obviously fits. Their prior album was mainly covers but this one has just one cover - a fine version of Little Richard's Good Golly Miss Molly - as Fogerty takes over song writing. (Little Richard returned the favour by covering Born onThe Bayou.) The songs stripped down would be just OK but the band plays very well and many of the songs break into excellent jamming sessions.

Altijd lekker CCR
i need my creedence
Good vibe, great sound - from groovy to rocky. Loved it.
Bass grooves, man. This is what holds all Creedence albums together. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to start a no-wave CCR tribute band.
I was excited for this album. I really loved the previous assignment, Cosmo's Factory, and "Proud Mary" is CCR's perfect signature song. "Born on the Bayou" creates a pretty awesome atmosphere for being written by a group from San Francisco. I love their take on "Good Golly, Molly" and "Penthouse Pauper" is fun. There were some moments that I didn't love. I don't know why "Graveyard Train" about did me in, but it pretty much killed my vibe for a long, long while until "Good Golly, Miss Molly" rescued things.
Yep, that's CCR all right. No surprises. It's fine.
Good stuff
3.5
fun
3.5/5 It's a style of music I'm used to/like, and reminds me of my childhood. I recognized songs, which made me happy. I'm starting to think I need repetition and predictability. 🤣 Also, music from the 60's automatically makes me think there is some kind of historical context or reference and I get excited to research it cause I'm a nerd. 🤓
Great mix of jam and hits
Very strong and iconic album. Sweet Mary really is a defining track of both CCR and this album.
Good album to have on in the background or whilst driving. Has some pretty rousing songs, would listen to again - I already own the "Greatest Hits"
I constantly overlook the fact John Fogerty is not from the bayou. Do people from the bayou have problems with these songs? Is this a concept album? Graveyard Train was a highlight. Seemingly mellow walk through a very sad story. The jamming and guitar tone on Keep On Chooglin' another highlight for me. Good guitars, groovy melodies. Doesn't have my favorites from CCR, but still down with it.
I'm beyond stoked that this album was my first piece of homework. CCR is a band that has always strategically placed critical thoughts in my cranium. Now I may be biased, seeing as how I peeked at the track list before spinning the record....but the album is choogy man. It choogs. With a BPM that resonates with trudging through a swamp, driven forward only by fear as the growl of John Fogerty creeps up behind you. The album is swamp rock, but you can't write about the chug without payingn homage to artists like Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker. The Album is rural blues with a little more foliage. Coming in from 1969 you can see where The Eagles found inspiration for tracks like Witchy Woman and Chug All Night. All in all the album is tight. It's pulls from so many obvious spaces while still remaining its own. Hell Yea.
I heard lots of great tracks attempting to listen to this album with help from our new Google assistant ! I loved the title track and most of the rest of the album. 3/4* ?
I knew several of the songs and they are really good songs. There are a couple of songs that I did not know. A few of them were too long. I enjoyed the album though.
With a couple 7+ minute songs, I thought it would feel rambly. But I was engaged the whole time
First one! <3 que buena grabación y groovy country!
It's short and sweet with a high ratio of bangers. What's not to like?
Vietnam Undefeated! EZ
Great soundtrack for car rides!!
I thought this was an excellent album even though I'm not the biggest CCR fan. Big hits in "Proud Mary" and "Good Golly Miss Molly". Also shoutout for the album being easy and short to listen to - almost 500 albums in on this and I can't tell you how many albums should've been shortened to make it better; I guess people like to think more is better when in many cases it's not. 8/10.
A bit short, isn't it? Best track: Proud Mary
Actually quite liked this. Another band I’ve never listened to besides singles but there are a few gems on here. Definitely another case of a band being fairly poorly represented by their most famous tracks.
Another classic from CCR. Not all of it is as strong as Cosmo's Factory, but Born on the Bayou is amazing of course.
Pretty good, has the hits Born on the Bayou and Proud Mary. I always thought it was funny how CCR's whole Southern/swamp act was fake.
They just sound like they're enjoying themselves more than other bands doing the same schtick, and it makes it so much more enjoyable. Also, they wrote Proud Mary.
Solid CCR. Cosmo’s Factory is better, but this is a good second place
Nice swamp rock!! Not sarcastic. I've heard most of these songs and this album is iconic. It doesn't necessarily move me, maybe because I'm so used to the songs, but I know I already like them!
Bayou Country. My dad loved oldies and he liked Creedence. I remember he had the cassette to Willy and the Poor Boys. Brought back some good memories. Back on the Bayou and Proud Mary are the standouts on this album.
Loads of decent tracks here.
Always a great listen with CCR. Easy listening, and Fogerty just kills it with his singing and intelligent application of his guitar playing to his songwriting.
CCR never fails to deliver, although in comparison to the other albums, this one falls off slightly as the songs are not as catchy and easy listening
Very good album. 4/5
3/7, 43%
Classic
Parfait album d'automne, avec la vibe blues.
Felt like I was sitting through a film marathon of Apocalypse Now - Forest Gump - Platoon. Pretty awesome.
Some brilliant stuff here
full listen album, not good seperately
Very good classic rock bluesy album. Probably my favorite from CCR. Clearly an overheard classic, but still great.
Nice album to listen on the road. The best of the blues rock.
loved, CCR is always amazing.
Gran album, agrega mucho tono al country-rock-etc esperado de CCR
Creedence Clearwater Revival- Bayou Country Genre: Country Rock, Blues Rock Score: Decent 8 Favorite Songs: Born On The Bayou, Bootleg, Graveyard Train, Good Golly Miss Molly, Penthouse Pauper, Proud Mary, Keep On Chooglin’
Good, had a lot of classics.
Consistent in mood, style, quality, lyrics, polish, and self-confidence. This is the record that defined the CCR "mythos", and maybe that's why this is in the book over Cosmo's Factory, Green River, or Willy and the Poor Boys. Proud Mary is their best ever song though, so hard to imagine it being left out.
classic but not my kind of music, good to listen too whilst working
Solid. Wailier than I usually like, but actually enjoyed it
Classic. Not the most inventive - behind the CCR signature style - but supremely listenable.
Great blues. House-filling presence even on a small system. Graveyard Train and Chooglin are twice as long as they should be, Proud Mary is perfect, and the rest are very good. But you can put this on over and over. That's worth a lot! (prior listen)
CCR has always been the definitive swamp rock band. As an album, this one sort of lacks consistency between songs. Graveyard Train is a boring snoozer but then the cover of Good Golly Miss Molly and Penthouse Pauper are real bangers with some fantastic guitar lines. Overall, not their best, but a good album.
Classic!
The best of the unbelieveable CCR run? I think so.
Great band and great album,
Remember the first Kings of Leon album? That was like a modern reboot of the original Creedence universe. This album isn't the strongest collection of songs which makes me wonder why it's included in the book. The production, however, is incredible. It really sounds great and keeps me chooglin'.
swampy bluesy piano, electric guitar. doorsesque. Born on the Bayou is a solid driving fun song; Proud Mary probably my favorite on the album. Like a lot of these sorta bluesrock albums I've heard, every song is at least pretty good, but only a few make me wanna come back [8-8.5]
Really good swamp rock. John Fogharty’s guitar tone is worth the price of admission alone.
These guys are great - distinctive voice and sound, great energy, and really fun songs. 4/5, last track of the original 7 drags it down. Born On The Bayou and Proud Mary are super songs.
Another great record from CCR. I think my biggest complaint, is that CCR is more of a singles band. That being said, the jams on here are tasty. Favorite tracks: "Born on the Bayou", "Proud Mary", "Penthouse Pauper"
Shorter album, but a good listen. A little more raw/early sounding. Standouts are: "Born on the Bayou", "Proud Mary",
Hyvän mielen levy. Sure shot
some classic hits, and some songs I hadn't heard/didn't know that well. fun times!
A pretty solid album with no skips, ot exactly revolutionary i felt but it wss definitly good
gotta love this gritty, bluesy sound. Great album
4.5. CCR is one of the best bands ever and this is a great album.
Pretty awesome CCR album again. This one is a bit too short. Some classic hits in this one with some other nice funky tunes. One of the better rock bands to exist made a tightly packed hard rocking album. Another one that can be listened to on repeat. 8.2/10
Good ol' CCR. Band of many a good unpretentious bare bones singalong tunes. I love John Fogerty's simple uncluttered approach to his song craft. This isn't my favourite bunch of CCR tunes , but it's solid as a rock.
The first song is a classic, 5/5. Second song is good, 3/5. Third song is ok, a little long, 2/5. Fourth one I am familiar with and enjoy, 4/5. Fifth Song is alright, 3/5. Sixth song is another classic, 5/5. The last song is alright, 3/5. Overall a fantastic album!
A classic, though listening to a whole album of that singing accent sounds is a bit much.
Fantastic stuff
Good ole Creedence. Born On the Bayou and Proud Mary are the standouts but all the tracks are fine enough.
