Reviews (page 12 of 13)

oksih.

alright

Not his worst. The best song was about murdering a woman. Wtg.

Not my thing Probably will not listen to this again

Apparently I’m not a Neil young fan

Not my thing

crazy boring

I’m gonna be honest didn’t love this album. The melodies never really caught me. Won’t come back to this one.

Sorry Neil. You just don't do it for me. I can't get over your whiny voice and the country nonsense. Not unlistenable. You're not early Genesis, but this just doesn't do it for me.

Cinnamon Girl is the best song on the album. The rest is typical late '60's folk rock. Not really my thing, but I can see the influence on later artists; especially during the '90's grunge/garage/alternative period.

Please - no more Neil Young! I listened - to most of it. And there are a couple of songs on here that are worth listening to, but no, it's not something I needed to hear

this is pretty desultory. i think the first two songs are my favourite because they don’t overstay their welcome .. unlike pretty much all the other songs. Just not much to interest me here 2/5

Couldn’t even be bothered to rate it. Boring but the one about rainbows was nice.

Just pretty boring

I was really excited to listen to this, but I think I should have simply been excited. It was chill, not dtf though.

It was ok, I found myself a little bored, because the nostalgia it was selling me wasn't my own

Down By The River and Cowgirl In The Sand are mildly decent twitchy guitar epics but overall this debut from Neil Young with his Crazy Horse team tends to be duller than a dull day in Dull County. And things veer from dull to just dreadful with the painful screeching violinfest on Running Dry (Requiem For My Patience). 2.5 stars for that and for being so staggeringly overrated.

This album opened me up to Neil Young. I didn't love it, but the jamming in that last track made me want to take a second look at him. I don't love his voice but I could likely get into some of his music. This is why I joined this project. Open me up to stuff I wasn't into before. I don't expect it to show me anything I will fall in love with, rather give me new options to get to love!

I read the title as everybody knows this is nonsense.

If this guy sane karaoke at The Red Lion, they'd send him right up the road to Sammy's.

Kinda boring, every song felt the same.

Running Dry sounds like it should be played on a harp, in some King's quarters...Weird cadence to it.

so bravi ma un pò smorti..

even more boring rock, that I wouldn't revisit highlights: round & round (despite being the slowest song, the only one i can say i actually quite liked lol)

Не совсем понимаю почему этот альбом здесь. Последний трек что то типо протометала, а трек down by the river включает в себя протогранжевый рифф, который мне напомнил smells like teen spirit, да и википедия пишет жанр протогранж. Обычный рок. Ничего обычного. Вокалист не очень нравится. Что то типо немного кантри и американы. 2

This was my 100th album for this project, and unfortunately, it didn't make me feel young, or crazy. While I do appreciate the rawness, and authenticity of the album, it needed a bit more of a spice to engage me better. Favorite Song: "Round And Round(It Won't Be Long)"

Still don’t get it, dull and bland

Wow. There are much more interesting albums on this list by a long shot from this same era. I thought this one would be more captivating, but I was wrong. I would much rather listen to Neil from Deja Vu (Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young, 1970) than this one.

I've never been a Neil Young fan. I hate his voice. I think his music is generally bad. That said, I think collaborating, or at least harmonizing, wiith Crazy Horse really helped polish. out the qualities I dislike. "Cinnamon Girl" was enjoyable. Same with the title track. "Running Dry (Requiem for the Rockets)" was the dud here. Everything I hate about Neil in one song. "Cowgirl in the Sand" was close to meeting that same criteria, but it was a. little jammier and that momentum kept me from skipping the song entirely. By the album's end, I found myself a little surprised. Finally, a Neil Young album that isn't awful. That said, I don't think I'll ever come around to Neil Young.

it's an "ok" listen. overall, not a fan of Neil Young's voice or songwriting. another meh album

Not bad

Listened to it on my way to work, really set me up for a terrible day. ‘Running dry’ was unnecessarily depressing. Probably a 2/5 again, the muted 60’s tones aren’t doing it for me. ‘Cowgirl in the sand’ does salvage it a bit though.

I found this all a bit dull. There are some pleasant lyrics and vocal arrangements at times, but I found it quite whiny. The guitars throughout meandered and irritated me, bit indulgent, and lacking character or conviction. Title track was my favourite.

Just sound

It’s imcredible to get to listen to all these artists I’ve always known about but never listened to.

TBH I always find Neil Young quite boring and this is no different!

Forgettable tbh

Probably the least terrible of the Neil Young stuff on the list. Still not good.

More meh from Mr. Young.

Bland country sounds and painfully whiny sometimes, though I liked some of the electric guitar (especially in The Losing End and Cowgirl in the Sand). The strings are interesting in Running Dry, and I quite like the haunting quality of the verses, but then it returns to the chorus which is quite generic. Struggled to feel moved by the “emotive” singing. Down By The River was done better by Buddy Miles and Young’s singing is BAD on that final track.

I'd rather die than listen to another Neil Young album, but honestly this was the most tolerable one so far.

Not for me, found it very boring

The music is part of the soundtrack of my early youth. I like to listen to Neil Young from time to time for this sentimental reason. I found this album rather boring. Only Down By The River was nice to listen to again. 2/5

I can see how this would have influenced artists I like such as Radiohead but not really one I listen to again.

Not the hugest fan of Neil Young, but Cinnamon Girl is on here. That track was covered by the Stone Roses and Smashing Pumpkins amongst others.

This was an ok album for me. I think maybe Neil's voice might be more of an acquired taste? I have never listened to any Neil Young album. I am not the biggest lyrics person ever so sometimes I lose track in the songs a bit if the musical parts and notes in the melody don't catch my attention and I think this one falls in the category. Cinnamon Girl was a standout to me.

A deeply deeply forgettable album

Whatever

Ja vel

I love what Neil Young is about. I just don't dig the music.

Ensimmäinen kappale ihan ok, sen jälkeen ei mikään kolahtanut.

boooooooooooooooooorrrrriiiiiiiiiing

2 stars

Sidste gang hyggede jeg mig med Neil, den her gang keder han mig...

Overrated album from an overrated artist

I am sure this is good but I don’t want to hear it.

not my cup o tea

Okay, this album only makes sense cause it was released on the tail end of the 60's and probably would've been a hit through the 70s.

Did not like it

Not for me

Ready for something other than Neil Young…

Cinnamon Girl is a great single. Probably going to have to hear more Neil in this exercise so I’ll just give it 2 stars and move on. It’s fine.

No thanks.

Die Musik ist ja ganz gefällig, wenn die nölige Stimme nicht wäre.

Favorite: The Losing End I approached this with an open mind, but discovered after a couple of listens that I still really dislike Neil's vocals and am very unlikely to ever listen to this or any other Neil Young album (unless there is another on the list, which I'm pretty sure of). Really like The Losing End and to a lesser degree Everybody Knows This is Nowhere. Giving it two stars on the strength of those two songs.

I don't mind this version of Neil Young compared to some of the other albums of his we've been served by the randomizer. The songs were ranging between nicely rambly and a little *too* rambly. it's a rare 40 minute album where i'll complain about the length, but the jamming on the last track had me wishing it would wrap up. almost a 3 but not one i'll come back to.

the least offensive neil young so far

I don't like his voice, but the album was ok! I don't know why Neil Young has multiple albums on this list with Crazy Horse because I feel like these albums aren't good enough to warrant multiple entries.

ok eiossss 6/10

No thanks! This album is at best boring, and at worst actively annoying. Everything is just so uninspired. It’s almost like 90% of the album was made with the one objective of not offending anyone or taking any chances. The remaining tracks are some sort of whiny country knockoff. I think everyone understood that he was a very sad boy after the first 5 tracks, so you could have saved the horrible violin stuff at the end. Other reviews mention that this was released 4 months after his first album. Maybe he could have spend a bit longer and produced something worth listening to.

Way better than his stuff with CSNY, but still a bit too much falsetto and easy listening. “Cinnamon Girl” and “Cowgirl in the Sand” are strong though.

Meh, only because story / songwriter combos don't do it for me. I can appreciate the talent behind it, but I just don't care.

I feel like this type of album is better done by others.

Super boring no energy

Kinda boring, a tad repetitive. I do appreciate keeping the runtime tight, and I dig what Crazy Horse is doing, certainly more lively than Young sounds without them.

This is a hard one because it’s fine, but Young had definitively not hit his stride yet, although he was already an excellent songwriter.

Sometimes think I don’t like Neil Young as much as I should. At some point I should make the effort though.

Neil Young is solid. just don’t enjoy him as much as I think I will. Even the hits we know are really just OK

this is the second Neil young and crazy horse album b2b and everything I said about the first one still stays true. still bad vocalist, still boring instrumental, but with the added bonus of the afore mentioned war crime fiddle. after that song I want a requiem for myself

Ooo la la la, la la la. Ridiculous. This is trite garbage, Neil. None of this makes any sense. Somewhere in there was a violin being strangled to within an inch of its life. Maybe once this came across as clever, but wow are those solos and guitar flourishes clumsy and poorly realised to modern ears. The single note 'solo' on Down by the River is particularly painful.

ik ben gewoon geen fan van Neil Young en ga dat de komende tijd ook niet worden

Some nice highlights on here. I have a hard time with the vibrato and tone of his voice. I get that he’s an important artist. I just don’t usually seek out chances to listen to him. Some cool parts but also lots of parts I didn’t find particularly cool at all. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Rating this on Monday and I can't remember it from Friday, soo

Not bad per say, but quite dull

Meh. I dunno. I like Neil Young solo stuff.

2+ Stars (6/15)

this is a painfully boring album and I see absolutely nothing interesting about it. from lyrics, to melodies, to the boiling kettle (oops – I mean violin) parts, it's just all so uninspired and uninspiring. nope

Easy listen, a vibe just not my vibe

Kind of a boring album to be honest. And I do like Neil Young's music. This was just kind of... passive and boring.

Listened on YouTube. Wasn't tracking, but think I got the full album. Not what I expected from Neil Young, I guess. Pretty neutral on the tracks, nothing stood out. Nice album cover. Wonder why it's ground-breaking?

Not really a Neil Young fan...

Irgendwie nicht.

not on spotify but on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PC5EgIv9Ws0 it's okayy :/ too yeehaw for my personal taste

Not really a fan of this one, not my style.

Langsamer, mäßig interessanter Country Rock.

Neil Young needs much more horsepower to get carried to a 3

Alright, album, only like 2 songs I enjoyed listening to. I probably wouldn't listen again.

Tracks wouldn’t play

I don’t get it. Guitar parts are simple, but not in a musical way, lyrics are weird, and I just didn’t really enjoy listening to it.

Sin mas.

No me ha gustado mucho. No estaba disponible en Spotify y he tenido que buscar canción por canción.

When I first started listening to this album I though it was boring but it was ok, whatever, I'm just not really into it - that was until I got to 'Running Dry (Requiem for the Rockets)' which was frankly auditorily offensive with it's violin/fiddle section. Lots of people seem to have a fondness for Neil Young, and maybe its a time and place thing (?) I found his voice is pretty irritating - so I don't really get it. Next

No conecto. 2/5.

Not something I would listen to again. Instrumentals are all off and out of tune with the lyrics throughout the entire album.

Not my favorite artist. Songs seems so similar.

made me download apple music to listen to this. didn’t really do much for me, like a lot of these albums i imagine it was pioneering at the time but listening back it doesn’t have the same impact. favourite song was down by the river

Didn't really like this - but now I know where Cinnamon Girl came from. Although, I do prefer the Matthew Sweet cover.

Not groovy enough for me. It’s ok as an easy listening music but wouldn’t listen again.

1. cinnamon girl - 1.5 2. everybody knouuz - 0 3. round and round - 1 4. douun by the river - 1.5 5. the lozing end - 1.5 6. running dry - 2.5 7. couugirl in the zand - 1.5

Den her plade endte egentlig mest som baggrundsstøj. Der var ikke noget som stak ud, men heller ikke noget som lød dårligt...

This wasn't actually that bad but I still think Neil Young sucks.

So-so at best for me.

It was fine. Nothing really stood out to me. I couldn’t finish the album because I had to listen to it on YouTube and for some reason the last 2 songs weren’t playing. I didn’t care enough to look them up somewhere else.

Yet another artist that I need to start really ranking their albums next time he comes up. But it's tougher to do so without him on Spotify. Fight the good fight I guess.

First song was good. Everything after was whiny sounding trash. White people did not make good music in the 60s?

Not my cup of tea

I just don't get it. Moments were alright but most of it just doesn't do anything for me.

Not much interesting to comment on this, wasn't particularly impressed but I think that's just that I'm not a big fan of Neil Young.

cinammon girl and everybody knows this is nowhere are aight down by the river scares me every single song sounds the same and then theres the fact that one song is nine minutes and one for ten minutes and FOR WHAT

It seemed decent, but didn't grip me.

I've heard Cinnamon Girl before, but I didn't know any other songs. Some songs it seemed a little long at some points. It didn't make me want to listen to anything else Neil Young has put out.

Alles ziemlich Standard, teils erfrischend leichtfüßig. Vocals sind besser als gedacht.

It seems like every song was a little longer than the one that came before, culminating in someone playing something that sounds like a cat being tortured.

It's definitely not the best version, it's not necessarily even a good rendition, but Down by the River is a good song. Thank you Neil Young.

Maybe a 3 but -1 for being a woke a-hole and removing his music from Spotify.

Ugh. These songs go on way too long. 2/5

Old, boring. Not mine.

i know neil young can write good songs but none of these grabbed me at all. this was an incredibly long and boring album that went nowhere for me. just a resounding meh. favorites: cinnamon girl, i guess

It was okay

Annoying, but a blessing in disguise, no Spotify. But thankfully, none of this guy's shit will show up randomly while listening. That's a plus 1 star right there. Speaking of annoying, this guy's voice. Thankfully, I would have to actually seek him out to hear it again. I won't. 3rd annoyance, 10 minute songs with no substance. There's a couple on here. As much as I disliked most of this album, Cinnamon Girl is an all-time classic I just won't diss. Probably the only song I can say I enjoy from this guy. So, I give another star for Cinnamon girl. Not really my taste, but there parts of this album I thought the were some nice music. A couple songs went way too long and there was nothing outright terrible....except his voice. I am thankful this guy not on Spotify. For this reason and Cinnamon girl, I give a solid 2

2 232 albums ago, Ragged Glory convinced me I might be a bit of a Neil Young fan, and 63 albums after that, Buffalo Springfield seemingly reinforced that. Well, at album #240, I’m finally presented with a proper Neil Young solo effort from his golden era… and oh my god this album is so lame. Look, I’m normally a folk music defender, but this album doesn’t give me much to defend. While I don’t hate Young’s voice like most people do, the songwriting here just isn’t interesting. I gave a re-listen with headphones to try and see if there’s anything I’m missing - nope, not a lot there. So, I went online and did a bit of research to see what all the hype is about, and apparently this album marked a shift to a rawer sound for Young - a shift that has made people retroactively refer to him as the “Godfather of Grunge”. Yeah… not really sure I hear that. It’s slightly unpolished and lo-fi for sure, but come on, it was 1969 - really doesn’t feel like a standout from the era. Anyway, I wasn't really into it, but it wasn’t objectionable, so we’ll give a 2.

Sometimes uplifting and sometimes pensive. A decent effort. Really strong opener and closer and then a bunch of ok stuff in the middle

The actual fever dream ramblings of a drunkard. I just can't understand why it's lauded.

Bit boring

Still don’t care for Neil Young

There is too much Neil Young on this list. It didn't help that his music is mostly generic country rock.

I like Cinnamon Girl but wasn’t crazy about the rest

Never been a fan of Neil Young, but fairly easy listening

this is not my first neil young album on this list, but i finally arrived at the conclusion that i don't enjoy his voice very much. this album isn't bad but perhaps lackluster. the instrumentals can be good, which i respect. everybody knows this is nowhere is mellow and relatively easy listening. but it couldn't excite me, and it really comes down to young's voice. i have enjoyed some music by young (when i'm distracted by the message or there is more music happening), but i think this was just too mellow and isn't quite the neil young i enjoy.

Pretty typical Neil Young. There's some talent there, but ugh. Just not for me.

Klinkt wel vet, begrijp de vooruitstrevendheid. Verder beetje eendimensionaal album.

Another Neil Young album. It isn't a great album. I made it through but I did not care for it. I didn't skip any of the songs though.

The songwriting and voice are sooo boring. The instrumentals themselves weren't half bad except for the monstrosity of Running Dry and it's violin part which almost made me get tinnitus. Cinnamon Girl, Down By The River, The Losing End, and Cowgirl in the Sand were good instrumental wise. Maybe if it was someone else singing with better lyrics it would be much better.

Staat niet op spotify te veel moeite, bedankt joe rogan

Listened to the album but its definitely not my style of music. I can see the charm of the songs but I won't be listening to it again.

Hieman ongelmia löytää mesta josta kuunnella tämä. Ihan jees muttei omia NY lemppareita. CH -soundi alkaa kyllä jo muodostumaan. 2/4

Yeah... okay. Stand out tracks: Down by the River.

troche nudne, ale jak ktoś lubi takiego rocka bardziej klasycznego to mu się powinno spodobać

Meh, I don't really care for this one. After the Gold Rush and On the Beach are much better.

Not really my style, a little too slow for me. 4/10

huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh

It's fine, drones on a bit and made me really want to curl up and take a nap. I mean, that's not entirely a bad thing, I like naps.

Usual winey vocal from Neil Young on an average set of songs with an Ok backing. Wasn't particularly impressed but it wasn't bad either.

Was OK I know like he's a big deal but just the vibe I could not get excited about. Just wondered why he was trying to push over the tree.

Still struggle with whiney old Neil. Was better when diluted by C S & N

It is 2022, Neil Young managed to make the news as though the world was going to care about his catalog being available on Spotify. This album's unavailability makes that regrettable as far as convenience regarding this list of 1001, but for whether or not the world cannot move on without Neil Young's music being available digitally is a rather far fetched position, but not for him apparently. Perhaps someone told him a long time ago that he is the best musician, song-writer, to ever grace the music scene. He has obviously believed this about himself. Through the aforementioned lens, there are pre-judgments against the man that skew the acceptance of his music. There is history with CSN and his disruption of the trio, the familial discord that he seems to believe is a disservice to fans (it is) but it is this same out of touch with reality approach to himself that overshadows his talent, and by extension is out of touch with the consumer. Normally this would not be a problem, but Young does try to connect through activism and use of his platform. This album could be a good one. It is an easy listen, the songs are nice and Neil Young does have talent. His ability to achieve what he has is a testament to that, and this review will not deny him that. Where this album fails to connect is the historical pretentiousness of Neil Young, perhaps it was the pursuit of success and the brutal acquisition of it that paints the picture. Thing is, it is the opinion of this review that this album does not meet even minimally the requirement before death. We love our entertainers lest they become too self-important, and Neil Young has become the latter.

Cinnamon Girl and Everyone Knows This Is Nowhere are a goo pair of openers, by Down By The River is 9 minutes about nothing. Again I don't get why so many people have a hard on for this sound. Cowgirl In The Sand is 10 minutes of bullshit.

Just can't get the love for Neil Young. Whiney voice.

Better than the last Neil Young album, but still not great. I still don't like his voice, but these songs seem to fit it a bit better than the previous album. Not something I'd listen to again. Upper end of a 2.

Not really a fan

pretty boring

É bom, mas não me cativou.

Gives me BBQ restaurant vibes, not a total hater but not a fan either.

Wouldn't be my first choice but it was a decent listen.

Nice album

Droning, uninteresting sounds

I only liked the first song, thank God we no longer have 9 minute songs

Neil Young's second album, backed by the band Crazy Horse, released in 1969 and was remastered in 2009. This country rock album was popular even at release and has been certified platinum. 4 songs including the title track became staples for Neil to play at shows. I've heard of Neil Young but this was the first time I really listened to his music. It was fine, but not my musical genre of choice.

“Young is a strange artist and I am not all the way into him yet, but this record is haunting.”

Not really my style of music but certainly better than expected

A bit twangy.

Jangly classic rock in the chillest hippy sense. Some randomly ~long~ songs.

Some of these tracks go on waaaaaaay too long

#1 everybody knows this is nowhere #2 round & round #3 n/a sorry i do not like country

Liked: cinnamon girl; everybody knows this is nowhere; cowgirl in the sand. Ok: down by the river; the losing end. Didn't like: round & round; running dry (liked it at first and then it got worse and worse). Overall I wouldn't listen to this album again, although I might give the songs I liked another listen!

Just country, idc Acoustic Guitar, Male & Female Vocals Kkona 5th song in kinda growing on me

Of all the Neil Young albums to pick…

Wasn't gonna listen, but it starts with Cinnamon Girl, and it's only 7 songs, so maybe I can try it. I suspect it will be lucky to get a 3, but you never know.... Naah, it's a 2. Quality is fine, but it's just too quiet and mournful for my taste. I think I like Young better than the rest of CSN, but still not really my thing. I can hear the beginnings of grunge in the sound, but still just too slow/contemplative.

Neil Young is an artist where I know all of his hits but never really listened to any of his albums all the way through so I am happy about this selection. I always meant to listen to more Neil Young. 1 - "Cinnamon Girl" - One of his hits so I of course enjoyed it 2-3 - "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere" & "Round & Round (It Won't Be Long)" - These two were a little to slow and sad for me today. I am working while listening so maybe the lyrics weren't sad but the music made me feel sad so there is that. 4 - "Down by the River" - another one of his hits so I enjoyed it. 5 "The Losing End (When You're On)" – okay, this is seriously depressing to me. I didn't finish it...NEXT! 6 "Running Dry (Requiem for the Rockets)" – OH FOR FUCKS SAKE!!! SERIOUSLY?? I DO NOT NEED THIS SHIT RIGHT NOW. I DO NOT LIKE THIS SONG AT ALL - opening verse: Oh, please help me, oh, please help me I'm livin' by myself I need someone to comfort me ANOTHER SKIP!!! 7 "Cowgirl in the Sand" – Ok, I like me some cowgirls, lets see how this goes........Pretty nice guitar intro..... I like me some guitar! Maybe this is an instrumental... nope. Lyrics are so so but I dig the guitar solos. I give this song three snausages

Rocking

Not bad. Protest rock it seems. 4/10.

meh, droney

A good example of average music from the late 60s era

weird combo of being really short but too long. He do be having better albums

It was country... Not my fave, but wasn't the worst country I've ever heard.

A good example of average music from the late 60s era

Nope. Not in the mood for drunk John Denver...

Production: 7/20 Songwriting: 9/20 Innovation: 10/20 Bangers: 0/20 Emotional response: 5/20 =31 Soz Neil this was pretty shit

not really my style, the background singers sounded weird.

Meh. Samme sangen om igjen og om igjen.

Some wailing country bullshit. Didn't expect anything and still was disapointed.

Ehhhhhhh

good for a neil young album running dry and cowgirl in the sand are decent songs i guess

1969: Down By The River, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere

Controversial opinion... Neil young ain’t my thing. And his guitar solos are too long and boring!

It was fine. I find his vocal choices grating more often than not

Don't get it.

too much Neil Young

Just not for me

My god this guy sucks

this is how i imagine taylor swift male boomer version to be

Все на высоте, инетересное перекликание вокала, баса и гитары. ВИРТУОЗНО СЫГРАНО Я БЫ СКАЗАЛ. Я не завайбился. Running Dry больше всех понравился. Cowgirl in he Sand достойный трек, но типа занудно.

This music style for me was awful , I wouldn’t listen again , but that’s my opinion

Vrij makke rock, niets slechts maar gewoon zeer vergetenlijk

Couldn't find it on Spotify, only bits from the album. I listened to the track "Round and Round," and to be honest, I concluded that it isn't for me. It's kind of some sort of "modern-banjo" music, and feels targeted to a particular demographic.

N/A, couldn't find the album

Не понравилось

Nikdy som nepochopí, prečo je tak oceňovaný...

Why there’s one album by this back on the list I can’t imagine - imagine my surprise when I find he’s got multiple. Awfull

not my vibe. Next please

The dictionary definition of Tedium. Make the boring man go away, mummy!

nja whatereber großer name und..? c

Really ordinary listening experience. 40 minute record of which 20 minutes is two songs of late sixties wig outs. It is just plain boring, he's not fully developed his songwriting chops and Crazy Horse are pedestrian. Don't' bother deadbeats.

Bland country with a distortion pedal with awful singing and worse vocalisations

I didn’t think I’d feel this way about a Neil Young album but… I do.

“It is difficult to find happiness within oneself, but it is impossible to find it anywhere else.” Arthur Schopenhauer 1 Deluded, clodhopping nonsense from Neil Young and his merry band of mediocrities. As usual. 1/5

Cinnamon Girl starts off the album strong, but it meanders. I didnt really like this at all. It felt like men going through a midlife crisis trying to live out their rockstar dreams of their youth. 1 star.

Unfortunately not really my taste

Dear author of the book your preferences are showing again. I am writing this before I even listen to the album but do we really need this much Neil Young on this list, and in life in general. A lot of people might come to his defense because he is 'political' and maybe talk about his 'battle with Spotify'. Sure, he did pull his music, briefly, from Spotify but I do believe you can still listen to it there because in the end he sucks. There are plenty of reasons for artists to pull their music from Spotify but if you're going to do it you need to do it and do permanently. Like most shitty boomers who like to think they solved civil rights, war, and all the other bullshit from the 60's and 70's, Neil Young has pulled the ladder up behind him after making it big. Fuck the newer artists who won't get the same royalties as him he got his. Cinnamon girl is a great song there are better covers of it out there but it's nice to hear it. The rest of this is the same old bullshit from Neil Young.

Very country rock, usually not my style. Album's target market is probably not me, and that's okay.

This was no good, overrated artist

Absolute background noise

Not for me. 1/5

Shite.

The most over rated asshole on the planet. I will never willingly listen to even a single note or syllable. I can’t believe this loser is on this list as often as he is. F-CAW-F

“Cinnamon Girl” is fine, if covered by someone else. One star, filed under Everybody Knows Neil Young Paid to be Over Represented Here.

Not my thing

I'll be blunt: I have never liked Neil Young's voice. I've tried. I really have. But every time I hear it, it's just this incredibly high, nasally sound that I find almost painful to listen to. I'd rather sit through "Tiptoe Through the Tulips" on a loop than spend five seconds with this guy. It's just a painful voice. That said, I have to give him credit for the songwriting. The man can write a song, no question about it. Tracks like "Cinnamon Girl," "Down by the River," and "Cowgirl in the Sand" are undeniable classics in their own right, and the way he crafts a song is pretty impressive. So, while I appreciate the craftsmanship and the genius in the writing, I just can't get past the voice. It's not an album I will be putting on again anytime soon. The talent is there, but so is the voice I can't stand.

This was boring and barely music

This is way too mellow for me. I just want it to be over. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): If I had to choose one, I guess Cowgirl in the Sand

у меня слов не найдется чтобы описать насколько он скучный. нейл крайне посредственный певец. я могу только понять почему в 70-х это было хитом, но 50 лет спустя только лицо кривится от его голоса. как ж можно было так не научиться петь вообще, емае

This is way too mellow for me. I just want it to be over. Listened before? N Saved to library? N Favorite track(s): If I had to choose one, I guess Cowgirl in the Sand

Lite för folkligt för min smak. Allt är lite generic och inte så memorable Texterna var också ganska tråkiga. Musiken måste vara väldigt tråkig om jag lyssnar på text Not for me

7 songs - 40 minutes. One excellent song.

Disappointed by this, bland and sterile.

Terribly mundane for me

I feel like I should like Neil Young. I like rock, I like country, I don't really like Neil Young - I like some of his songs but only when other people cover them. I don't particularly like his voice, sometimes he sounds like Kermit, sometimes he sounds like a poor mans Mick Jagger, I don't like the sequencing on this album, it stylistically feels lost. Harvest was alright and I imagine that's on this list somewhere but this album is not it. I won't be adding this to my library, I'll probably skip any of the tracks if they some on rotation. Sorry Neil but this is my first 1/5

I don't think I cared for this. Couldn't listen to it enough to really know but maybe thats a sign? But I also just could be sick of listening to new music that I don't like. MAYBE CHANGE TO 2 STAR IF I REVISIT AND SEMI LIKE IT

Didn’t enjoy this.

Bryder mig ikke om den.

Fucking hate Neil Young’s music. Don’t need to listen to this record to know that it’s going to get a 1 from me, and I’ll save myself the frustration of wondering why the world regards his work so highly.

Very rock.

I like Neil Young’s big hits but this was very meh to me

Unknown why Neil Young is so popular. He did some cool stuff with Pear Jam. But this just isn't good. Maybe I had to be there or something.

A rating of 3.55? Would give it 0.355.

Another overrated album by an overrated artist on this list. Harvest is a great album but I'll take a pass on all the other Neil Young on the list.

Nope. Boring

Very dated. Maybe meant more back then. Not sure it would make this list if being compiled now. That awful soft rock, white mid west easy listening FM station stuff that clogs the airwaves

Didn't like it

Such an overrated artist

Not a fan

please, god, tell me i am free of this man now

I have never seen the appeal of neal young. Bland paint by numbers music, and Lynyrd Skynyrd didnt need him around so I cant for the life of me think why I would.

Try to avoid Neil Young where possible, can only really tolerate 'Heart of Gold'. Everything else is just vanilla, boring. Sorry Neil, your name may be 'Young', but your songs get old pretty damn quick.

The album is in the main ‘of it’s time’. It sounds a bit too ‘country and western’ 😬 ‘Down by the river’ is the best track… the rest is forgettable.

Ugh idgaf about Neil young.

Nothing ruins a song quicker than Neil Young opening his mouth.

Not available on Spotify

Couldn't listen due to artist pulling album from Spotify.

Giving this 1 star because I’m required to give it at least 1 star. I get why people like this but it is NOT FOR ME. Plus it’s not super accessible.

The brilliance of the album may be lost on me since I was not around for the time to see how groundbreaking it may have been for its time. But it sounds incredibly generic with weak instrumentation. And by then end I was tired of Neil Young's weak and shrill voice. Running Dry was a fun track but other than that I was disappointed with this album.

So far, first three are a little to slow and folksy for me Song 4 playing this feels like a nope for me, guitar solo kicked in as I wrote this and it's nice. Just not my vibe Song 5 - This is not my type of album at all Ending song, nice guitar intro. Just not my stop Wondering why it's top 1000

Never did like Neil Young

not available on spotify :(

meh NNN

*not on Spotify*

Doesn't seem to be available on spotify

Not on streaming

For every 10 minutes subtracted from this album's length, it gets a star. The work was far too long and the instrumentals were too repetitive for too long. Music can sometimes feature a long repetitive instrumental and be great pieces. A specific example of this is Desire Lines by Deerhunter and the drone genre . Yet it EKTIN is not a drone piece and the repetition falls flat to me. It's a boring album. Maybe I need to listen to it more but this is my current review.

I'm gonna have to listen to this AFTER my Release Radar, as it starts with REZZ! And maybe not actually. It's not on Spotify. I might have to find it on youtube later.

This guy again :(

Not on spotify

this isnt on spotify. so consider this also a fuck you to neil young. im not putting up with this bullshit. joni mitchell and neil young can both go fuck themselves.

Better than the last one. Still not for me. Boring at best. 1

Given Mr Young's stance on having his music available on streaming services, I can't comment or rate effectively.

do not understand the hype whatsoever. you see the amount of accolades it has and you expect something a little interesting but it was just so unbelievably stale and mediocre

Didn't really enjoy it, seemed like background music

Still can't listen to Neil Young on Spotify and I still don't care.
