Reviews (page 2 of 14)
Every track was pretty good, just a nice vibe from the album. Makes me want to check out more of van morrisons stuff
One of my all-time favorites.
Summer, shining, together.
This is a really solid album, not a bad track in the bunch. Probably his best work. Morrison's voice is spectacular, and the music is great too.
nice and chill! вайб ремонтировать тачку в гараже со старшим братом в джинсовом комбинезоне и пить колу со стеклянной банки
I really loved this album. Calming, folksy vocals and a 70s mellow rock vibe.
Sopranos season 5 Finale, 'All Due Respect', and Glad Tidings is playing in the background as Tony Blundetto pulls his car into the barn of a farmhouse in somewhere like rural upstate New York. .... ' And they'll send you Glad tidings from New York' seconds later Tony Soprano comes around the corner and blasts his namesake and cousin's head off with a shotgun on behalf of the New York mob. Anytime I hear this song I think of this scene, I know it says more about the TV show than the song but still. Classic Van Morrison song off a great album. 5 stars.
No notes.
a masterpiece of Van Morrison. Soul, Blues, and Jazz at the top
I liked every song on this album, except for the first and last song. But everything from rock, pop, jazz, R&B just hit perfectly on this album. I've never listened to his work before, but this has to be my favourite album from Van Morrison.
This album is great! The horns, the songs, van himself. Just don’t try to understand what he’s singing, you won’t 😁. Thanks for reminding me about this one!
# Album Name: Moondance # Artist: Van Morrison # Rating: 5/5 # Comments: What a banger. Great little album. # Top Tunes: Stoned me / moondance / Come running / Mystic / Everyone / GT # Would I listen to it again? Yes
Great record. Classic.
Short and sweet. This is pretty much the ideal length and pace of an album, I would say. Every song hits, but I especially enjoy "And It Stoned Me" "Into the Mustic" "Everyone" and "Glad Tidings" RIP Tony Blundetto.
I have always loved this album. It’s a classic, and solid from start to finish.
An absolute masterclass in organic, jazz infused rock composition. The integration of the tight horn section, acoustic pianos, and nimble basslines creates a remarkably fluid, breathing sonic environment. Morrison’s vocal phrasing acts almost like a lead instrument, darting around the syncopated rhythms with a level of improvisational freedom that makes the entire record feel alive, vibrant, and effortlessly complex.
That first side is really uncontested greatness, the 2nd slips a bit but finishes strong. Not the biggest fan of a lot of Van, but he just has a way of getting into your soul.
Art
vibey, super calming, 10/10
So so so good
glorious - hippy soul, soaked in jazz
Probably Van’s best (though “Veedon Fleece” and “St. Dom’s Preview” are close!); if you love Dylan but don’t know Van the Man, please please put some time into studying this record (and at least four others of his) of sublime folk, soul, and Irish-tinged magic.
Another classic
I didn't realize how much my dad played this album until I was listening to it again. I hadn't remember this until now, and playing it brought a huge rush of emotions back. Crazy Love, Moon Dance, and Caravan are all such amazing tracks. I love the folk, the genres, and the guitar. I normally hit albums if they are samey, but when it sounds this good you don't to change much. I loved listening to this again, and I'll listen to it more in the future.
When each song is as good as the next, what is not to like?
Brilliant musically despite him being an insufferable douche
Van Morrison is a shitty person, but this is an amazing album that feels completely timeless
I’m waffling between a four and a five. What the hell, 5 it is.
In Van Morrison's discography, this one ranks second only to Astral Weeks.
A classic
Beautiful Album.
I love this album. I can listen to it, rain or shine. Daytime or nighttime. All tracks transition well, but Moondance takes all my love, for sure.
Moondance is a 5/5 album — a portrait of Van Morrison at his most generous and spiritually open. Revisiting it now, it’s bittersweet. I love the warmth and wonder of his early years artistry.
Loved the followup to AW as a more formal affair.
Good music! Something for everyone everyone!
I must be in the exact right mood for this one today. I'm normally kinda meh on 99% of Van Morrison's music (the exception being my weakness for Brown Eyed Girl), but I caught myself adding most of these the my Liked Songs as they came on.
Very good. Easy 5.
Fav songs: • Moondance • Into the Mystic • Glad Tidings Overall rating: 8/10
even if you give up and stop listening after Into the Mystic, the first half warrants 5/5
When to listen: laying in the grass looking through the trees. This is an album I've listened through too many times to count. I love it so much, every song is unique and special and beautiful and I'm not accepting any commentary to the contrary.
gorgeous! such a warm vintage sound
Let Your Soul And Spirit Fly 1001 Albums Generator 265 (4/8/2026) A perfect blend of folk, jazz, pop, and rock. Van Morrison at his best. The only song I don't really like is the silly medieval stylings of Everyone. 5/5. Favs: And It Stoned Me Moondance Into The Mystic Least Fav: Everyone
FINALLY, I dont wanna claw my eyes out when I see I have to listen to Van Morrison again
Great album
Perfect feel-good for making breakfast in the kitchen illuminated by the spring sun. I thought I only knew "brown eyed girl" by Morisson but turns out I knew "Everyone" from a Wes Movie! Loved it
I remember the exact time and place that I first heard this album. I was living on a small island in New England. It was September, cold, and rainy. All the summer tourists and workers had left. I had nowhere to be, so I stayed on the island for the fall surf. I was sitting in my truck watching massive, messy waves pound the shore. I noticed that a friend had left his case of cassettes behind the seat. I rifled through it to find something interesting and came across this album. I'm pretty sure I cried a few times on that first listen. It's still one of my all time favorites.
Damn that was era defining
So first I didn't even realize Van Morrison was from Northern Ireland. Secondly, I didn't expect this many good songs. I thought he was just a blue-eyed soul, but "And It Stoned Me". Great songwriting. Good music for me and my Loce. I never would've expected as much Jazz as him. I look forward to trying out his discography like Astral Weeks.
april 14night to 15mn '26 i loved it the first thing i listened to after starting social media detox!
Amazing, piano parts incredible and lyrics besutiful
I love 70s music and I had heard of Van Morrison a few times already, plus a couple of his songs. But curiously I had never listened to an entire album of his. This was a wonderful experience. It's got some folk in there, but I'd say it's mostly R&B and with some soul and jazzy influences too. So, basically it's got everything I like in it. I listened to it twice and I loved it. Will definitely add it to my usual rotation. I pretty much liked every song, especially Moondance, Caravan, and These Dreams of You.
And It Stoned Me- The first song and it has me HOOKED. It is only because I love me a slow rock and jazz album. The music is not "too much" and there is a nice rhythm to it. 10/10. Moondance- This song is such a different vibe from the first one but kind of the same if it makes sense?? It is groovy and quiet, just how I like it. It is just soo jazzy. Again, 10/10. Crazy Love- The vibe is switched up yet again. It is slow and sweet and full of love. The guitar in the background is making me feel things. And the background vocals too. They are just so amazing. It is through and through a romance song and I am in love too. AGAIN, 10/10 NO NOTES!! (Fav one so far tbh) Caravan- How is it every other song is just a different vibe. To me, at least. The drums. THE DRUMS WITH THE GUITAR. That's it. And the vocals are just too good as well. Every song is just delivering the vocals so damn well. Like blown away. Those high notes have my heart. And I love me a classic fade out. 10/10 AGAIN!! Into The Mystic- I am loving the guitar so much in this album man. Like so so much. The acoustic one especially in this song. The switch up is crazy and what is that instrument playing?? Don't know the name but it is so beautiful omg. The high notes eat AGAIN. 9/10 for me. Come Running- I think the same instrument from before is back and it sounds pretty good! I can also hear the piano which is always amazing and it fits the jolly feel of this song. Literally makes me want to dance and just move my body to the music. I am currently snapping my fingers and moving my head to the song. It is addictive. Another 10/10 solely because of the end. These Dreams of You- I HEAR A HARMONICA!! It sounds good man. Soo good. And I think the instrument is a saxophone. It all sounds so jazzy with the guitars man. I am so relaxed listening to this album. This song in particular is making me feel so relaxed and chill. Wtf is that instrument?? It is different from before. I think?? I love the high notes man. They are amazing. 9/10. Brand New Day- We have the classic jazz vibe back. The background vocals are eating it up again. They actually sound amazing. It actually sounds like an inspirational song which is a lot different from all the other songs from the album, and it is such a nice change at this point. The country vibe is so strong with this one song. The classic fade out brings it to another 10/10 (not surprised) Everyone- What in the medieval era?? Another major switch up with regards to the vibe from the previous song and basically all the sogs in the album at this point. The guitar is so much more present in this song that I feel amazing, and in a mood to dance, again. IS THAT A FLUTE?? These instruments just keep on coming in, I swear. It adds such a whimsical feeling to the song. Why do I feel this song would have sounded amazing being sung by a bard as he travels the medieval world?? Another banger, 10/10. Glad Tidings- The last three songs are such motivational songs and also so different in terms of music, the tempo and the vibe. It is so refreshing to hear such diversity in just the last three songs. This is such a happy song and the little "la-la-la" in between just adds so much to the song. The background vocals COMING IN WITH SO MUCH every time. I love it. Again, I prove that I do not have nay knowledge of any instrument because what is that instrument that you, me and everyone hears?? That was an abrupt end, but it is still a 10/10. THE ALBUM- 10/10 no doubts, and no questions about it. Ever song is just so different from each other that genuinely one song does not sound like the other at all. And it is a exactly the vibe that I LOVE in albums. The ones which make me feel relaxed and laid back and make me enjoy the silence a little more. This is gonna be on repeat, starting now.
beeyootiful
EPIC
10 great songs clocking in at 38 minutes felt pretty perfect. Turn it up! Little bit higher!
Our grandchildren will be discovering this album and lamenting that their music just isn't as good as hiking on a spring morning listening to a Van Morrison album like Moondance.
favorite album
Very good. Love this vibe. Reminds me of my Dad. Want to listen to again.
Such a fun and approachable set of songs! Sounds like something you should listen to while on vacation, especially on a ship or on a roadtrip.
Enjoyed this throughout. Like his voice a lot. Faves were Caravan, Crazy Love, and Come Running. Also Glad tidings - the good ones kept coming!
This feels like a blend of rock and jazz with a great balance. A lot of familiar songs that are feel good songs. Better than any other 70s album we’ve heard so far.
3/23/26 - listened at the computer. I really like this vibe. My old roommate's favorite musician was Van Morrison but I never got into him. This I could see myself continuing to listen to. A number of classics and good vibes = five stars! Top Song - Glad Tidings
Ez nagyon jo. Nagyon kellemes.
Great album bonus points because it’s my wedding song
Perfect Sunday morning album. Some of my adoration for Moondance is nostalgia, but the rest is just because the album feels like a hug.
Marvelous!
Sublime
Classic.
Super Dope
“Half a mile from the county fair And the rain came pouring down Me and Billy standing there With a silver half a crown” To say I was pleasantly surprised by this would be a gigantic understatement. I have avoided Van Morrison like the plague my whole life. This bias against him was probably more due to what I’d heard of him as a person than it was based in any actual musical defect. So, when I decided to dive into this I braced myself for pretentious nonsense. I was instead instantly hooked. The whole album is a smooth and relaxing experience. It’s vivid in its imagery and Van Morrison’s voice compliments the instrumentation wonderfully. It all feels so cohesive and it holds you captive for the whole runtime.
Nice 5/5 I own this on vinyl
Klassiker! 😍
Love this album. First half is a masterpiece. Blends R&B, rock, jazz, pop, folk, in a simple but compelling way. Combines a very listenable singing voice with horn-driven arrangements that are at times led by varying instruments (saxophone, piano, guitar) without feeling eccentric. Lyrically takes the listener beyond a traditional, crooning love story to a more nature-based, spiritual world. Standouts are "Into the Mystic" and "Caravan".
A lovely album for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Cozy, comforting and warm. This album accomplishes what it sets out to do flawlessly.
Close to perfect, easy listening in the truest sense. 4.5
Stone cold classic. This album could brighten any day. No skips, but Glad Tidings is my favorite of the bunch and such a great way to close it out.
Classic album. If it was just Moondance on a loop it was still be a classic, but it showcases a depth of emotion across every track.
Classic 70s album. Van Morrison doesn't seem like a guy I'd wanna get a beer with but the music slaps. Standouts: And It Stoned Me, Caravan, Into the Mystic, Everyone
Beautiful album. Astral Weeks will be rated higher but this is my favourite - and the title track and Into the Mystic are my favourite van Morrison songs.
When do we separate the art from the artist? How could the person responsible for this sublime record be such a contemptible jerk? There isn't a skip on this record and every song is the work of a craftsman in peak form.

A wonderful collection of songs. Such an original voice
Überraschend gut! Sehr vielfältig hinsichtlich der Musikgenres. Ruhig und gut zum nebenbei hören.
I've known this album since I was a kid - especially the songs "Moondance" and "Into the Mystic". They have kind of been ubiquitous on FM radio and I think in movies and TV shows. I've also had the CD for a really long time - but actually haven't listened to it in quite awhile. This album is like comfort food. You know it, it's good, it's familiar, it goes down easy. It's not the most exotic or adventurous or creative - just all solid songs. It has 1 great song - "Into the Mystic". When that first acoustic guitar part comes on, it just sets a cool, contemplative mood and builds from there. I wish Van Morrison didn't turn out to be such a creep as he got older - but I'm not letting that color this review. Liked songs on Spotify: 10/10 (Perfect Album) Rating: 5/5
love this one.
A gorgeous album.
I like this album... A lot. I understand why people dont like it though
I love this album. I can’t add anything new to what’s been said by others more eloquent than I. This is an album everyone should listen to at once in their life.
Remarkable
What is the coincidence I listened to one of his songs for what I thought was the first time yesterday morning and I liked it not knowing he made brown eyed girl so much I added it to my like playlist, I genuinely think this is a top tier album
I love it
This album is an absolute banger! This album is just a great feel good classic/folk rock album with tracks that are hits that I completely forgot were in this album.
One of my favorite albums of all time.
I love this album, so many great memories growing up listening to it. While I like the first side songs a little better, I never skipped not playing that other side. Each time I heard something new that hooked me.
The best of the Morrisons. The best of the Vans
I love van Morrison
Really enjoyed
YES YES YES!!!! LOVE THIS!! every song is perfect and incredible and such a delight to my ears. Every next song that played I was like WOW LOVE! 10/10?????
Love it. Own it. Masterpiece.
This is objectively a 5 star album, but I wasn’t in the mood to listen to it. I enjoyed Morrison’s vocals and his backing band nevertheless. This is a great collection of songs. Not your typical pop album—fluid song structures and performances add enough variety to keep the listener interested. A great record that I will revisit again in a different headspace.
That first half is a fucking heater. Five elite songs all in a row- though Caravan is a contender for the song most outclassed by its own live version (last waltz). Second half isn’t quite as high but it’s still wonderful listening and nowhere near bad enough for a deduction. And everyone rips.
Despite the sharp drop-off of the second half, the first 5 songs are so incredible. The perfect melding of rock, jazz, folk, all wrapped in Van's wonderful voice
I forgot how good this album is. I mean the first half is non-stop hit after hit. The back half is lesser known but it is so even throughout with the quality. The pain, the joy, the optimism all shines at different points. It's a short album with no one song overstaying its welcome. This one is a good background album, or one you can immerse yourself in as a soundtrack of your life. Biggest Hit - Into The Mystic Biggest Miss (if I had to choose) - Everyone Hidden Gem - Brand New Day
i like this in the background
This album is simply a banger. Makes me want to do a cross country roadtrip so bad.
Day748 - i could listen to those first five songs everyday. crazy love is extra special since it was our wedding song
Love it.
One of my favorite albums of all time. Banger after banger. More commercial and less conceptual than astral weeks but I think that kinda makes it better. I had never really listened to Van Morrison and then I went to a Grouper Concert at a Church in Austin when I was like 21 and before the show they played Into The Mystic off this album and it absolutely blew my mind and I've been obsessed with Van Morrison ever since.
Reallly liked this one
Very enjoyable. Cheerful and relaxing. Standout tracks - And it Stoned Me, Come Running, Everyone. Alongside Moondance and Crazy Love, which I was previously familiar with as Michael Buble covers. Interested to hear more Van Morrisson.
Liked it a lot will be adding to vinyl collection
Easily a 5. Into the Mystic alone makes the album
Great songs, great voice. Too bad dude's reputation for being a nasty cur darkens his legacy.
A classic album. No notes?
*1970. *So many good songs, but they're all at the beginning of the album, so the first half is better than the second (It Stoned Me, Moondance, Crazy Love, Into the Mystic). *I love Van Morrison, so this is getting a 5. There's room for improvement, but it's a pretty solid 38 mins of music. RATING - 8/10
Van the Man at his best!
Stellar album. No boring moment. Big on variety and big on quality. Favorite track: Moondance other picks: and it stoned me, crazy love, into the mystic
Fantastic. So much soul.
i love this album. i love 70s
A mark of a great album is it leaves you wanting more.
Very chill whimsy vibes
The blend of folk, jazz, soul, and whenever else is so seemlessly done. People try to replicate this style by writing folk songs and then shoehorning in a saxophone player, but these arrangements are all so natural. Standout tracks: Crazy Love, Into the Mystic, Moondance
So great. So many iconic songs that have engrained themselves in our culture. Great morning vibes, great afternoon vibes, and an album length that leaves you wanting more.
This album rips.
The album brough me back to my youth. It is a chill, enjoyable album.
What a way to start. Shocked by how many hits this thing was packed with
I saw this come up and really wasn't looking forward to it but made myself listen and glad I did. Brown Eyed Girl was the only song id previously heard which coloured my opinion but this is a really good album and right up my street.
brown eyed girlll
Into the mystic 10/10. The rest easy 7/8 out of 10. Great record
Absolute masterpiece. Every time I listen I change my mind on my favorite song.
Great album! I didn’t know he was very folky jazz
Fav
Liked moon dance and it stoned me into the mystic and crazy love. beitiful
This album feels like Ron Burgundy
lovely
Wow, pretty impressed even knowing it's a classic. What a start... "And it Stoned Me" to "Moondance" to "Crazy Love" with "Into the Mystic" as song 5. My favorite song was "Everyone" which holds a special place for me as the outro to The Royal Tenenbaums (top 3 movie for me). The album was surprisingly upbeat most the time. Short album at 10 songs 38 mins but was loaded. Generational talent, bangers, and influence. Has to be one of the top 5 to 10 singer-songwriter albums of all time.
All-timer. Listened to it a few times because I love it so much.
Loved this one from track 1. Jazzy tunes with good complicated lyrics and stories. Romantic without being skeezy. Listened before? N Saved some tracks? Y Favorite tracks? And It Stoned Me. Moondance, Crazy Love, Inside the Mystic ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Loved it, saved a bunch of tracks
I enjoyed the sound of this album a lot. I enjoyed the different merge of genres. I love the use of the flute a lot on this album.
This sounds like a greatest hits album. About as close to perfect of an album as I think it gets. If I would have had more time, I would have listened twice in a row. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
*Irish folk *kinda country vibes *folk-soul vibes *chill 4,5/5
So good! His voice is amazing and the music is so good!
van
Fantastic first album. Easy listening and all the songs are hits. Album flows well, Morrison does not disappoint
The singles from this record alone are worth five stars. The deeper cuts are just icing on the cake.
This was an early Christmas present for me. I love this album, one of my favorites - the proverbial desert island album. Van Morrison’s voice is rich and soulful. The music itself has such a soothing groove to it. It’s the kind of music that you can just melt into the couch and forget about the world for a while. This is comfort music for me.
Grade A poes making grade A music.
Brilliant News
The official soundtrack to the entrance to the restroom at Red Lobster, Bubba Gump, and Papadeauxs around the world. Jokes aside, this album is iconic. Was feeling a 4 star until I went back in for more.
I bought this album about 30 years ago on the strength of one track, specifically 'Into The Mystic' which I thought was one of the most beautiful songs I'd ever heard. I still think that track is beautiful, and it was a pleasant surprise that the rest of the album was absolutely fantastic. There is not one track that I would class as weak. I listen to it regularly, and will never tire of it. An easy 5 stars!
Talent can come from Belfast.
One of my dad’s favourite. Always love this
Truly great
Love
This was actually a really nice album to journal to, I really enjoyed how calm it made me feel. It had R&B, soul, rock, jazz, pop and Irish folk. It had such a unique sound and I would rate this a 10 out of 10. I even downloaded it
Wow! So far this album was the biggest "exceeds expectations". Van Morrison was always that boring soft rock / jazz guy with a few hits. But this whole album was excellent! Each song so well crafted, the instrumentation was awesome. Each song was unique and kept my attention. The production was phenomenal. The singing was top notch. First five star for an album I never heard before.
An absolute masterpiece! If I had to pick only 50 albums to listen to for the rest of my life… this would be one of them.
Now this is some classic dad rock.
Classic. Nearly every song is a master piece.
Well, it's not "Brown Eyed Girl", but it's a wonderful album. I thought the title track was a cover or one of those American Standards, and it is, because he wrote it. "Glad Tidings" was such a wonderful way to end an album.
One of the great singing performances on one album, arrangements are perfection too.
Aww. This sort of gentle positivity needs to be in my mood boosting toolbox. Added to library. ....man, I've CHANGED over the year I've been doing this. I'm more open to softer, gentler music than I used to be. Perhaps it'll be a good time to revisit some of my previous 1 and 2 star ratings during the holidays?
What an album, great listening experience all the way through, another perfect length that doesn’t overstay its welcome, songs were really catchy and I wanted to keep listening to them. A new favourite that will be played quite often
Beautiful beautiful. You know I hate to have art vs the artist conversations because I think it’s such a huge gray area that depends on context…but in this case I think it’s so clear that fame and money corrupt the delicate human thing that lives inside of poets like Morrison. To become some antivax reactionary freak making bad music because he spent too much time on a pedestal. Incredibly sad that getting the adoration he deserved led him to this. Anyway great album no skips all bangers.
Wow! I did not expect to like this as much as I do. I'd always thought of Van as a simple singer-songwriter with an interesting voice, but it never quite grabbed me. Then I listened to this and I already know and like about 8 of the 10! I'd heard them as singles and I people seem to love him, but I just never put it together that he was all of these. What a great listen. A bunch of them are already on playlists and I'll be listening to this again. (Am right now!) I love the horns and the piano throughout. Much better than just a guy and a guitar. First half is a bit better than the latter half, but all in all quite listenable. I'm going for a 5 on this. Excellent!
Very good album invoking a feeling of coziness and warmth during a rainy nighttime car drive
Love so.smooth
magnificent
Listened to this album in one go and felt like every song contributed something new to the listening experience. They excel at being actively heard as well as passively fill the background. Many strong tracks in themselves and definitely a few i will add to my playlists.
Van the Man. Watch The Last Waltz.
It’s an uneven album for sure but the first side is so very good I will give it full marks. Naysayers need to turn up their radios.
What an album
What a great album.
No question about it, it’s a classic. 5/5
Fantastic album and great sound!
Classic!
10/10 if I could. Amazing album!
Všečen začetek ("And It Stoned Me"). A je "Moondance" njegov najbl znan komad? (Lol, ne, pozabila na "Brown Eyed Girl".) Ful je jazzy. "Caravan" je nov zame & I love it! U, sledi mu pa en, k mi je ljub že nekaj let, čudovit "Into the Mystic". Maš komade, k ti vzbudijo določena čustva, pa ne štekaš zakaj - zame je ta en takih. Ok, "Come Running" mi je tud nov & kul. Zakaj nism že prej tega albuma poslušala? Mislm, sj sm vedla, da mi bo všeč, še preden sm začela.
Great music, interesting lyrics. I was hooked from the first song. Really, it goes too fast.... life and this album.
good
Great tunes and lyrics, thx !
Absolute classics.
This one has been in my top 5 albums for at least 20 years. Van Morrison is so slept on it is insane! This is his best single album in my opinion.
My favorite album of his. Side vibe is awesome.
oooooooh fuck yeah. edit: this was an awesome album. back-to-bac bangers. first time listening to it start to finish. avn morrison is great.
Perfect album for most any occasion. Sexy & brooding. Great background music filled with under appreciated lyrics that sneak up on you.
Best Song: And it Stoned Me I bought Van Morrison's greatest hits in 1999 and listened to it to death. This was the first time I've listened to an album in its entirety that wasn't greatest hits and I think I liked this album better than the Greatest Hits. Plus, how is it possible that Into the Mystic was not on the greatest hits?!?!?! 5/5.
What a great listening experience! Special shout out to the flute and the back-up vocalists! Who or what is Jelly Roll though? And Glad Tidings should be called Brown Eyed Girl: Reprise (I’m not complaining, it’s a bop 🤗).
Overall really great, I've always enjoyed listening to Van Morrison, especially his 1974 live "Too Late To Stop Now" album. This had a few studio versions of tracks I hadn't heard before, only knowing the live performances. I'm probably at a 5 star on this album
One of my personal tops
An absolute joy.
Wow! I’m a fan 6/5⭐️
Good album. Some aspects of Van's music i've liked but overall I don't find this music much interesting for me. Strong 3 star record.
A lot of good songs
What a classic. Glad to have listened to some new favorites
I see why Van Morrison makes it on to every musician's Desert Island Discs. Such a beautiful album to listen to
Call me a normie but I like this like more than Astral Weeks
An absolute all time classic.
Something about this album instantly calms my nervous system. I can take a breath and just let the music wash over me.
When I asked my parents what song they danced to for their first dance at their wedding, they both smiled and said “Moondance” by Van Morrison. Then they thought about it a moment longer and my mom said, “Actually it wasn’t. It was another song. But it should have been Moondance.” They both had trouble remembering the name of their actual first dance song. I love this album, partly because I grew up with it, and because there was as a sense of specialness around it in my household. But also, it’s a fantastic pop album, stacked with great songs, and I’ve formed my own special relationship with the music. On my own wedding day, there was a moment when I realized that I had left something important at the venue during our morning rehearsal: a bag of ties that I was supposed to give to a few of the groomsmen. I needed to drive 20 minutes from the hotel to the venue, then 20 minutes back to the hotel to get dressed. It was a real pain of an extra trip to take on my wedding day when I should have been relaxing. But it was a beautiful, sunny day, and I thought: “Why not enjoy the drive and listen to some music?” The choice of music was obvious. Van Morrison’s “Moondance.” It’s almost exactly 40 minutes long, and it perfectly captured the bright joy of that warm day in May. I savored that drive. I can picture the roads I drove down as clearly as many other memories from that day. It was a nice way to be alone with my happiness, if that makes sense. A way to process the significance of what was going to be a special day and a great party. This music feels like a balm. It’s bright and colorful and full of life. Always a pleasure to put on.
a must- have!
Album 933 of 1089 Van Morrison - Moondance (1970) Rating : 4.5 / 5 What a great album - great songs, great performances, and a whole vibe that just feels timeless. Van is one of those artists I somehow forget to mention when listing the greats, and listening to this reminded me that I really need to stop doing that. This album has everything working in its favor - smooth, soulful vocals, incredible musicianship, and that warm, easy groove that just draws you in. Tracks like Caravan, Into the Mystic, and the title track still sound as fresh as ever. It’s the kind of album that feels like an old friend - comforting, familiar, and always welcome.
This is one of my favorite albums of all time, so I am a little biased in this review. From the start, it is just something you want to live in for a little while, letting his voice and those amazing melodies wash over you. Five stars, no notes. And yes, I am conflicted about how I feel about this music versus how I feel about the artist.
My Mom would play this album relentlessly during my Childhood so hearing this again today brought me back. I understand why it was her go to dinner party album, it’s such a warm soothing record. For as many times as I had heard Stoned Me, I still had no idea what the lyrics, “Stoned me just like Jelly Roll” meant, I always assumed it was just nonsense that sounded nice. Finally looked it up today and it’s in reference to Jazz musician, Jelly Roll Morton who Morrison listened to as a child and “Stoned Me” reflects on how he was deeply moved by him. So I’m glad I finally figured that one out. So yea, this is an album that brings me back to a comfortable part of my childhood and I’ll always appreciate this album for that. It’s not quite on par with Astral Weeks but it’s still pretty strong. I’m giving it 5 stars
Kungens överman. Som Elvis in Memphis i facket traditionell tidlöst bra musik, fast snäppet bättre. "Turn it up, a little bit higher" bara att lyda. Jag undrar mest var den sjätte stjärnan för Hysénklass är nånstans. Bästa albumet hittills
Top 100 albums of all time. Classic.
Great album. Every song is good. Van Morrison at his peak. Favorites are And It Stoned Me, Moondance, Crazy Love, Into The Mystic, Brand New Day.
Great songs great music I love his voice!
Stone cold classic
The highs are so high on this album
I own this album. Fantastic.
Classic favorite
This nob made some great albums in his day.
Perfect from start to finish.
Easy 5. Into the Mystic - one of the greatest songs of all time
Very easy listening soulful music from Van the Man. Really enjoyed having this on in the background. Quite front-loaded, but that's nit-picking. A great listen.
Not mind blowing, but a solid album that was easy listening and enjoyable from beginning to end
Turn up your radio, because this album is a gem. I've loved this album and it's still a classic in my book. It's a 4.5 because I 'Everyone' just feels like it doesn't belong, but rounding up to a 5.
Fantastic album, will listen through
Classic.
five stars no notes
Hit me just on the right day.
4.8/5 excellent songwriting some of his best stuff possibly best album
Brilliant record. Loved everything about it
This is the perfect soundtrack for a lazy Sunday morning. “Anything in particular you want to hear?” “Well, it’s Sunday and we’ve got nowhere to be, right? Put on Van Morrison’s Moondance.” Van Morrison feels a bit like an Irish James Taylor—just a touch less mellow—but it’s hard not to love his music, especially the classics. I’ve grown to appreciate him even more since getting married, thanks to how much my wife adores his songs.
The most enthusiastic 5 I have given on this journey. This is a fantastic classic album I grew up listening to as I rolled through my mid to late teens. Into the Mystic is the highlight here with Moondance and Crazy Love rounding out the top three for me. The rest is immensely enjoyable as well.
Enjoyable

Loved it
Yes! This album! This restored my interest in 1001 albums. No skips. I even listened to some of it again the next day.
koff koff…ahem…
Classic!!
One of the best, simple - yet complex and it stoned me Moondance Into the mystic
'Oh, the water / Let it run all over me / And it stoned me to my soul / Stoned me like Jelly Roll.' Altho Astral Weeks will always be the album for me, not only in Van's catalogue but perhaps of all time, Moondance is where his romanticism is somehow fulfilled in the vernacular of hits and catchiness. He isn't an occultist like Yeats; he's a nature-worshipper like Wordsworth, a mouthpiece for the sublime merge of self and non-self: 'Hark now, hear the sailors cry / Smell the sea and feel the sky / Let you soul and spirit fly / Into the mystic.' It's also and unavoidably black music, soul music for the gospeller of the 'Brand New Day' and 'Glad Tidings.' This record is on the short list of the greatest, and let me stress, happiest ever. 'Lalalala,' etc.
Love these songs, made me cry a little.
Love it!
How did such a serious ass make a string of just flawless records? Another perfect one that deserves to be on the list.
love this album!
Sounds like a soft light and breeze coming through an open blind. Gentle and moving. So good I’m going to listen to it again now. Favourite track: Into the Mystic
This album unites people. Anyone - regardless of age, class, nationality - can agree that this is a masterpiece and Van Morrison is a raging dickhead.
Some classic songs mixed with some very good songs. 5 stars or A.
High quality from start to finish. An album that is guaranteed to improve your mood.
The greatest ever songwriter at the peak of his powers. There isn’t a bad track on here. It’s a sexy, jazzy folky love story about love by an absolute powerhouse and a bizarre nutter to boot. Couldn’t pick a favourite track, genuinely impossible. 6/5
One of the best albums ever.
A masterpiece, and I'm thoroughly convinced those who do not appreciate it are complete up their own ass.
Yeahhhhhhhh that’s the stuff right there.
“Ooh that sounds like a white 24 year old from Belfast” Said no one ever upon first hearing this album. Whilst not delivering the ethereal sound of the earlier Astral weeks, Moondance a soaring achievement nonetheless, More accessible and eclectic, fusing as it does elements of motown, blues, and jazz into a consistently listenable and enjoyably uplifting whole, this is an album I’ll never tire of. Another 5 for Van the Man, that’s a rare double from me.
This album conjures up the year I fall in love with my wife, the summer we met and the summer we worked together doing timber/veg research plots in California, Oregon, and Washington. Magic, simply magic....
A favourite for 50 years.
Jazzy folk...me like. Nice, easy listening. Van Morrison has a pretty chill voice (though hard to understand at times). I enjoy the acoustic work along with the horns and pianos. That solo in Moondance(!!!) was amazing. Favourite songs: Moondance Come Running Caravan Brand New Day Glad Tidings
Good album. Every song was interesting. Into the mystic is my favorite song to play on a summer evening when I’m driving and I believe this album should be played that way. Driving with someone you love and scream singing the words together and doing Van Morrison impressions together.
What an absolute classic. Without ever having listened to Moondance, I already knew and loved every track on here. Van’s meandering vocals can get tiresome in large doses, but just as I was beginning to tire, the album ended. A perfect length for an excellent and unique artist.
An album full of happy nostalgic bops
I'm being generous, giving it five stars. But I like if a lot and was happy to be reminded. Most of Van's albums I find repetitious. This one and Astral Weeks are both vary nice.
I was already very familiar with this album. Balances precariously from brilliant to boring old white peoples music, depending on the day and mood when listening. Today blasting Caravan it was brilliant.
Excellent work by a man with a very spotty record.
Perfect. No skips
Classic album. Great songwriting and an unmistakable voice.
I own. I love 9.2
Definitely a 70s keeper album. Goes along with Fleetwood Mac well.
Amazing album and one I am consistently drawn back to. One great song after another by the musician's musician. Van Morrison is an incredible talent. Nothing beats Into the Mystic.
Two Van Morrison albums and two 5 reviews. I don't mean to be common and care so much about the singers voice but for him I will make an exception. This is such a beautiful sounding album and I have loved listening to it for 20+ years. Morrison, Sam Cooke, Dean Martin, Paul Simon, Vandross and a few others can sing almost anything and I will love it.
My favorite Van Morrison album! Never a bad day to listen to this one.
Banger
Hold now this brother has some soul!
Full of melodies and writing that makes this album amazing. Moondance, into the mystic and caravan are timeless.
I was familiar with Van Morrison, but had never listened to this album all the way through. I loved it! This would definitely go on my list of classic, timeless albums!! Standout songs (of course ) were Moondance, Crazy Love, and I also liked Glad Tidings.
Wonderful listen.
Now that’s what call music
This was a great album from start to finish. A delicate balance of slowing things down as well as adding more energy just when it was needed. There wasn't a single song that wouldn't have been listenable by itself and therefore, this album will get a 5/5 as a definite listen again whenever it would pop up without a doubt.
Love this album. So much so I even have the vinyl. Blend so many styles and could be seen as the greatest non-American soul album. 4.5/5. Raising to 5.
I love this albums soulful, R&B / jazzy sensibilities. Van Morrison's vocals have such great swing and vibe. Side one is killer and there isn't a skip-worthy song on the whole album. Great stuff!
A classic!
I remember buying this CD with a Circuit City gift card around 2004. I must have listened to it quite a bit because I knew every song on here. Hadn't thought about this album in a long time, but it's damn near perfect.
Great Album
2 star person, 5 star album.
All bangers. If bangers were slow soothing music.
10/10
What can I say that hasn't been said before? One of the most recognisable voices, brilliant lyrics, melodies to die for. This probably doesn't even cover the accolades this album richly deserves.
So many good songs.
Not a skip to be found on this one. Suave, soulful and folksy. Just a few g-words shy of the ideal afternoon listen. Strangely festive? Probably best left to the autumn and winter months despite its summery strumming and springtime brass sections.
This is genius. A truly exceptional album. This was a favorite during my early college days. Care free good times for me. It’s impressive how fluent he is in different genres (jazz, gospel, blues, folk-rock) and more impressive how he blends them. Morrison creates a genre of his own here. A desert island mainstay. It’s a 5.
So much consistent good stuff. I love this album.
I bought this on CD many years ago at a now defunct Borders Bookstore. The kid behind the counter said something to the effect of, “That’s a great album.” I accidentally answered with the very jerk-sounding, “Yes, I know,” which I regret because I didn’t mean to sound rude, just agree with him. Because he was right, it is a great album. And I knew that, because it is a great album. I don’t think there’s a weak link in this chain, either. My personal favorite for reasons I don’t understand is Caravan. But I would listen to this album just about any day of the week.
Never have I heard an album that reminded me of my childhood more than this one, this is dad music if ever I heard it. Absolutely love it 5/5
This was the perfect album to go for a summer walk and listen to. It’s relaxing but not boring. It doesn’t force emotion on you but instead gives you the ability to feel however you need to feel. It’s not overwhelmingly happy but you don’t feel sad either. It’s the perfect “easy listening” music. I loved it so much more than I thought it would. I think I just like late 60s, early 70s folk blues rock fusion. And this is exactly that. I can hear a Celtic influence too which is nostalgic for me. I wanted to keep listening after it was over. The songs flow nicely into one another without blending together. A real surprise for me. I’d 100% listen to this again and enjoy it. Am I….. a Van Morrison fan now????
This is Americana. Every song is beautiful. A combo of folksy, rock, jazz. Everything you want.
Beautiful, especially after the last one
This album makes me happy. Everything about it. Nothing more needs to be said.
5 stars aren't enough. S-tier album.
Even the ones you don't recognize by name are legendary.
Great album for travelling, kind of a snoozer sometimes but it's a good album. 8.5/10
I know he's a wrongun but it's a 5
One of the best albums ever!
Album is full of bangers that I haven’t heard in time, good reawakening
‘Into the Mystic’ gets regular plays for me, but this whole album was pretty great. Lotta new stuff for me, nice to hear the original ‘Moondance’… 4.5/5
