Reviews (page 9 of 14)

Onhan tässä makeet soundit ei voi minkään!

Not a huge fan of Coldplay but their first few albums are actually pretty enjoyable. Very easy-going. I personally prefer "Parachutes" but this one is good too. Favorite track: Clocks 3.5/5

Loved clocks the rest was ight

It's good. but not for me I suppose

Long before cheating CEO's attended Coldplay concerts, the band released a cavalcade of critically acclaimed and huge selling records from when they first formed, to present day. Their second album, A Rush Of Blood To The Head achieved worldwide acclaim with a record that seemed to please everyone. Well, not everyone...I can't say I've willingly listened to a Coldplay record before now, though I'm sure I've accidentally "heard" them on TV or the radio. So I admit, it's pleasant enough to listen to and their pop sound does have a certain appeal, but really they sound so generic and though I don't hate it and I don't think I could pick them out from other "like-sounding" bands. One does get skeptical when a group gets so popular so quickly and I know there are a lot of haters, so it's hard to listen with an open mind. They seemed to have lasted and endured for over 25 years now, so that's telling you something. After the initial rush of their first couple of albums, Coldplay is a classic example of a band cruising on auto-pilot, but is that really bad?...uh, I think I'm happy to just ignore them completely.

Meh. Didn't care much for Coldplay in the early 2000s and this listening hasn't proven my opinion has changed. That said, they have some interesting efforts into sustainability for tours so they get an additional star

Simple but effective and so much better than what they’re doing these days. You’ll find some of their greatest hits, some experimental alternative songs and other boring fillers in between.

Jeg kan ikke lide Clocks, men det meste af albummet var ganske udmærket. Egentligt et højere niveau på de ukendte sange, end jeg havde forventet. Meget harmløst.

Good album. First half is exceptionally good, clocks in beautiful song. I didn't really like the howl-singing in the scientist song but well done. Second half started mid but ended with a bang.

Coldplay is good at two things, clean production and getting the white folks excited.

Reviled as the Nickelback of not being Radiohead, Coldplay is ok, if a little non-adhesive. "Clocks" is deserving of its 1B streams, a legit beautiful song. The rest hits like an unenthusiastic massage: thanks but it's not really hitting the spot and you can stop now. No need for this to go on for an hour.

Top-tier mediocrity. That's not a bad thing. But I don't think there's anything groundbreaking to this album. It's polished pop music. That has done really well for them. I admit it got more than a few plays back when it came out. But...I can't say I've ever had a reason to re-assess it. Until today. And I don't think anything changed. It's still perfectly cromulent. That's all.

You're lying if it you say it's unlistenable!

Soft and comfy pop-rock isn’t usually my cup of tea, but the guys from Coldplay somehow make it work. They hit just the right spot in terms of tone and atmosphere, with a good balance between dynamic instrumentation and ethereal, dreamy voices. It’s not super original, it sounds like a more accessible and mainstream version of Radiohead with a (big) touch of Britpop, but it gets the job done. Not exciting enough to add to my playlist, but good enough for a rainy afternoon once in a while.

While my wife and I were out for dinner at a fairly fancy restaurant in the city before going to a concert we overheard one of the waiters excitedly telling another table about his summer plans to see Coldplay at all 4 of the tour dates in our city. He went on to explain how he’d already seen them dozens of times and wants to see them at least 100 times in his life. I love music and love going to concerts, but that kind of commitment to one artist is genuinely baffling to me. Anyways, I feel much the same way about this album as I did for Parachutes. Less groaning this time as I did genuinely enjoy Parachutes so I’m coming at this one with a bit less bias than last time. That said, there still were a few groans of ‘ugh, it’s this incredibly overplayed song’. Overall, it was a decent album, but I’m yet to be truly converted to a Coldplay fan and I’m definitely not planning on seeing them 100 times in my life.

This is not bad for what it is. It’s a soft pop album with good vocals.

Ну, такое, вроде неплохо, но как-то очень медленно и скучно, не моё

It was an emotionally driven album with great pop beats and musical taken.

Very teenage blonde boy with a guitar figuring out life, in a good way. Favourite song: God put a Smile on your face. Made me want to play the piano.

Better than expected. Remember the singles being the only Coldplay songs I ever liked and thankfully the rest of the album isn't too far off. I can see this being boring to some but I can vibe with it.

Clocks is such a great song that if the whole album was as good as Clocks this album would be an easy⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but sadly it's not. There are no bad songs on A Rush of Blood to the Head but nothing is anywhere as great as Clocks. I think Coldplay is a great singles band, but I never liked an album enough to own & this is no exception. It's a fun listen but pretty forgettable when it's all been said & done. I would buy a greatest hits collection (I'm assuming they have one) for a tenner.

There's a certain magic of Parachutes that Chris and the gang failed to drag over to this sophomore project, but that doesn't mean it plays without its own highlights. The Scientist is objectively a fantastic 00's rock ballad, Clocks is in a league of its own and Amsterdam is my personal favourite. There's just too much dreary filll between these stellar moments and the album fails to grab me anyhwere near as much as Parachutes does. I understand Coldplay isn't to everyone's taste - it hardly is to mine - but if they carried on making tunes like these through the years I think they'd be more respected and not referred to as "gospel music for atheists". Favourite : Amsterdam Least Favourite: God Put a Smile etc. 6.8/10

God I fucking hate Coldplay. I was dreading listening to this one. As much as I dislike Coldplay, I'll extend the olive branch of saying this is definitely the better album over Parachutes. Parachutes is an affront to the music and so mediocre to the point that it's offensive. Rush of Blood is nowhere near that level - in fact I'd say this thing is very listenable. I cannot believe I'm actually writing a positive review for the most mediocre and overrated band ever, but here I am. Don't get me wrong, it's still Coldplay, but there wasn't really any songs on here I actually had any issues with. I really liked In My Place, Warning Sign was a good one too. The hits are hits, obviously, but they're probably some of Coldplay's better works. Pretty decent listen, unlike Parachutes. Won't be coming back to this, but this wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting.

Competent but mostly milquetoast music that I can’t really bring myself to feel too strong about. Really not much else to say, it’s pretty natural that music this commercially safe is going to be widespread on the radio

These guys wanna be Radiohead so bad. When people talking about disliking Radiohead this is how I imagine it sounds to them. That being said this wasnt bad, the scientist is popular for a reason its a good song. I also enjoyed the title track, although I cant bring myself to put either into a playlist due to the embarrassment of having fucking Cold Play in a playlist. It was alright 6/10

Most music from the early 1990s is new to me (when I got the classical music bug) so I had never knowingly listened to Coldplay. I know they were massively popular but I found they l their style a bit dirge like. Apologies to any offended fans but this isn’t for me.

It was pretty good. Clocks and the title track both stand out for me, but it's not something I'll think about too much otherwise.

I liked it. Has some good, familiar songs on it. But do I listen to it as a regular?

Not bad. Not great either.

LOVE the key changes in Daylight's chorus. Very cool. All quite good, nothing crazy standout.

Once again the generator being funny with it's selection (see current news). Never understood the appeal of Coldplay but the album is fairly ignorable.

There is bias here and I may get my English-heritage revoked. Coldplay has always been “okay.” I know they are national icons but my first exposure was the overwhelming overplay of their appreggio’d classics like Clocks from this album and its predecessor. Chris Martin’s meandering vocals between head and chest voice with a mix of falsetto grew annoying after the hundredth listen. Admittedly, I did not listen to whole album until now. My modern assessment: it is okay. I get how for some their lyrics and sound could be life changing/affirming, especially pulling from their hymnal influences. For me, there was nothing that U2 hadn’t already accomplished here. The Scientist is a great song and a mind blowing video. Amsterdam is a soulful ballad. There are good songs to be listened to here but overall (here comes the controversy) the effects of their fame are greater than the reasoning for it.

This one is interesting. Its predecessor Parachutes is a straightforward, moody piece with acoustic bass and some laudable lyrics. And this album has some of that too. But it starts to sound self aware in a bad way. It’s edging towards trying to be good vs just being good. Politik is a little too loud. In My Place a tad too dreamy. And so on. It all makes for a solid sophomore album and I enjoyed revisiting it. I actually went to Cincinnati with an old girlfriend back in 2003 to see them perform this album (she made me) and though it a great show! It’s all kind of sad though, considering the schlock they’ve become.

I have always thought "I don't like Coldplay" but it's really based on hearing "Yellow" too many times. I liked this album. Pleasant surprise.

It was fine. I consider it far more of background music than something I’d put on.

Most of it is meh to me....but the singles still hold up: "Clocks" and "The Scientist", especially.

1. The Scientist 2. In My Place 2. Clocks

Jazz with an organ and killer saxophone solos. Amazing, but maybe a tad repetitive. Maybe because I'm not the most seasoned jazz listener. Would probably go up with more listens. An enjoyable album.

I’ve heard A Rush of Blood to the Head more times than I care to admit not by choice, mind you, but because it was everywhere for a few years. It’s not that it’s a bad album, it’s just so beige. Everything feels polished, radio-friendly, and safe. I recognise most of the tracks, and I can see why people love it, but it doesn’t do much for me emotionally. It’s like being served plain pasta when you were hoping for something with a bit of spice. I’m just not a Coldplay fan, if I’m honest. There’s a distant, polite quality to their music that leaves me cold (no pun intended). I know this album means a lot to people, and that’s fine

Decent. 3/5

I liked it, but I didn’t love it. Some songs really hit and I’m not a Coldplay hater, but this wasn’t a gem for me

Forgot how much I enjoyed the Coldplay early days. Not an album I revisit but enjoyed listening to it again

Chris Martin is Chris Martin but I don’t love this album. It just felt long.

My image of Coldplay was the song Yellow and the first song of this album (Politik) kinda destroyed that image. I don't know if I liked it better or not, but it was different. I think I'm just not the right audience for this band. This feels more like background music than music I actually want to listen to. Amsterdam was an excellent choice to end the album with. Favorite song: A Rush of Blood to the Head Song saved: A Rush of Blood to the Head Album saved: No

When they started to become a stellar band. The l singles are great songs but the rest of the album is underwhelming. Not as good imho as yellow

Right in that uncanny valley, where you can hear both the artsy aspirations and bland pop sensibilities fight for your attention. I imagine this is much like the first person to introduce one of those ultra-modernist room designs consisting solely of pseudo-futuristic shades of white, oblivious to the fact that this would soon enough become the status quo for financially well-endowed IKEA customers with a defunct sense of style. They did give us an all-time karaoke classic with The Scientist though, so you've got to give them that much.

Nostalgic. Reminds me of middle school and just starting to discover new music.

3.5 The best of Coldplay's albums is their strongest songwriting before the deluge of ... Side one is especially well-produced and fits together. Then it falls prey to the past ("Green Eyes"') and future ("Amsterdam.") Move that title track up to follow "Daylight."

One of the greatest pop albums of the 2000s. This is their peak.

#628. Music for stay at home moms to listen to while their kids are off at school. 3/5: mid

Maybe I've got rubbish taste in music, cause I kinda like Coldplay.

The songs were ok, overall I found it a little bland.

Fine, like a watered down radiohead, Martin sings well but I can't believe a word he says.

It is hard to rate a pop album. It is hard because pop is usually very pop-ular and everything popular can be a bit bland in a way. I have to say, Coldplay in general, have this DNA, this recipe for success that involves a lot of emotional background melody that is pushing the song to become a superstar-maker. This, I feel, is also the case with this album. Although, apparently, being the album before true fame and glory, the same DNA can be spotted here. The lyrics pass as acceptable, but they are borderline blunt. The music helps you push through. It is the relatability that sets it apart. That lets it become the commercial success that it is. Do not get me wrong, the songs are more than just ok, but they do not seem to be that special. They seem to be the sort of songs you put on in a Friday afternoon, with a lot of rain and not that much warmth, when you have the time to reminisce about the past, BUT you are doing it in not as thorough of a manner. In a way that you just romanticise the past and you do just that. This is common, good but common.

Some songs knew, most didn't. Didn't finish.

Coldplay es una buena banda con un directo bestial. Ahora bien, sus álbumes son algo pesados, ya que la mitad de las canciones no son tan buenas como la otra mitad. Aún así, este es el mejor disco del grupo.

Obviously heard this album quite a few times, and probably Coldplay’s best? The urgency and intimacy of this album is its best strength, with Chris Martin’s light vocals and piano-centric instrumentation providing a welcoming landscape for the post-9/11 context in which the songs were written. However, the ambient yet trying-to-be-majestic nature of a lot of the songs may be polarising, and I am of the opinion that there are memorable and timely tracks, here even though I don’t return to the album much at all, and the second half of the album drops in quality.

I enjoyed this, dont really like Coldplay but it is a good album overall.

Not a massive fan of Coldplay, but this one was alright

I like some of the sound but it is a bit long.

I mean, it’s alright; at least better than all the shit they made after this. Politik, The Scientist and I guess also Clocks are pretty good songs, but the rest is just a bit boring and dragged out to be honest.

When it's good it's iconic with songs like Clocks and the Scientist but when it's not it kind of just floats around in a boring and unassuming way. That said, I don't hate any of it and I can hear the groundwork being laid for some of their work following this that I enjoy quite a bit. 3/5

Wasn't a big fan of Coldplay growing up since I grew up only hearing the overplayed radio hits, and only was familiar with songs like Yellow and Clocks. While they aren't one of my favorite bands, I do really like some of the songs on this album, and was very surprised on how their sound was on this album (I was expecting the same pop sound they have now!) Overall --> pretty good! / #1 Favorite song off album: Daylight, A Whisper Favorites: Daylight, God Put A smile Upon Your Face, Politik, A Whisper, Title song - I LOVE the guitars and vocals on Daylight / A whisper. love the synth like sounds(?) in A Whisper. Both songs immediately hooked me Least favorites: In My Place, The Scientist mixed? : Clocks. -Ive heard it so much that it sort of just melts in my head when I try to think of it (negative). I can say that I do love the drums and piano in the song. Green eyes -didn't hook me well and I just didn't have an opinion on it.

Not my vibe but can see what people like it. Scientist used to be my go to cry song in middle school. Coldplay is still fire I’ll give them that.

classic coldplay album

Some amazing songs, the scientist deserves a 5/5 and clocks 4/5. I feel like if I took coldplays hits from across their albums it would be a 5 star. But the album was too repetitive after the top songs and I'm struggling to justify a higher rating

Nostalgic for sure. Clocks was fun

If Radiohead were to go pop, I guess you'd get Coldplay, which isn't exactly putting Chris martin and co. on a pedestal. Radiohead isn't flawless, tho they have their moments, and Coldplay is a diluted take on Thom Yorke's vagaries and philosophical pretensions. But they aren't merely that: 'The Scientist' is a pop rock classic, 'Clocks' is another worthy single, 'Green Eyes' is a gem, and 'Warning Sign' is sappy but convincing. Still, the songs are too long, Martin's voice is effective but not an all-time stunner, and the lyrics are neither saved by wit nor enhanced by sincerity: 'Am I a part of the cure? / Or am I part of the disease? Singing / You are'; 'I am nothing / In the dark'; 'Come back and look for me, look for me / When I am lost.' nah.

Noh joo en oo kova coldplay diggari mutta on tää mun lemppari levy tältä bändiltä. Biisit on must aika tasalaatuisia ja kansi on hieno. 3/5

You would have to be living under a rock not to be aware of Coldplay. That said, I have not heard this album, or any other album of theirs, apart from their debut album. 1. "Politik" 5:18 - Percussive guitars, in the "yellow" style for the chorus. Trundles along nicely. It's nice. It has the Coldplay guitar flourishes. 3* 2. "In My Place" 3:48 - I recognise this and I don't seek Coldplay music to listen to. Nice guitar riff, simple but effective, dare I say Radiohead inspired (No Surprises). Nice vocal melody for the chorus. I don't want to give half stars, and will try to accentuate the positive, so 4*. 3. "God Put a Smile upon Your Face" 4:57 - Again, like the opening track. Pretty melody, nice, bright guitar riff/run. But, it lacks something. 3* I've heard the next two songs before. They're very well known and popular. 4. "The Scientist" 5:09 -Love the piano intro and accompanying vocal melody. Vocally Chris Martin is excellent on this, instead of the mournful style he has. Nice build. Reminds me of U2 when the guitars come in, and then vocally of Bono. Those are compliments. This is a great song. 5*. 5. "Clocks" 5:07 - Nice piano motif to start things, that then repeats. I struggle with Chris Martin's vocal's. Not that they are poor, but they are so mournful. I might mention that again! I know this is a famous song, and one loved by their fans, but it does little for me beyond the pretty piano hook. 3* 6. "Daylight" 5:27 - Musically, this sounds pretty. Nice orchestration. Doesn't really go anywhere though. 3* 7. "Green Eyes" 3:43 - When I saw the title I instantly thought of the song "Green Eyes" by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. This is not that. Again, nice enough, it's not a poor song or a poor performance, but ultimately forgettable. Nothing to grab me, vocally, lyrically or musically. 3* 8. "Warning Sign" 5:31 - Slow paced. Nicely produced. I waited for something to happen, the big reveal or chorus. No, verse two, same again. This is a somewhat dull. 2* (the first time I have issued this). 9. "A Whisper" 3:58 - An improvement from the previous track, but just. These songs aren't really doing anything for me now. Again, nice enough, on its own, but as part of a listening experience for an album it's dull and uninteresting. 2* 10. "A Rush of Blood to the Head" 5:51 - The title track has more dynamics that the previous two. Slow paced verses, with the chorus kicking things up a notch or two, albeit with the stabbing guitars in the vein of "Politik". 3* 11. "Amsterdam" 5:21 - Echoes of U2 here, both vocally and musically. 3* 34/55 Overall a three star album. It's pretty, nice, but somewhat dull. Chris Martin's vocals just don't do it for me. He doesn't stretch himself. They're safe. Tracks 6 onwards just drifted along, and didn't elicit any emotional responses. Would I listen again? No. Would I buy the album? No. I felt the need to add the following, as I felt that after awhile for me this album was dull and bordering on mediocre. 1-2 stars: May signify a song or album that is not particularly enjoyable, possibly disliked, or considered mediocre. 3 stars: Often represents a song or album that is decent, enjoyable, or worth having in a library. 4 stars: Typically indicates a song or album that is well-liked, enjoyable, and perhaps one that the listener would regularly revisit. 5 stars: Usually signifies a song or album that is a favourite, perhaps an all-time favourite, and one that is considered to be of exceptional quality.

I remember listening to this album quite a lot when it came out, so I was slightly alarmed to find that the second half felt totally fresh to me. I think that there's a degree of blandness here, that's hidden in the immaculately crafted music. This is extremely easy listening, so I'm going with 3 stars, as it's well done, but ultimately, not anything truly special. I also feel that this Coldplay's high water mark.

I didn't really expect to enjoy this upon first listen but it was surprisingly good. "Politik" and the two big hits from this record are really good. Rest of the album is pretty forgettable. 7/10 Favourite: Clocks Least Favourite: A Whisper

Nice album with ambient and orchestra sounds and music combined. Sometimes the orchestra climaxes seem out of place.

Mellow, non-controversial. Some big hits. Would officially give 3.5 stars and would revisit.

coldplay

Pretty alright

Ok, I guess.

I'm not a huge fan of recent soft/pop rock, but I find Coldplay to be an exception (at times). The instrumentals were absolutely beautiful throughout the majority of this album --- without them it would have very little merit. Songs I've heard before were on this album that I wasn't aware of before, which was a pleasant surprise. I think such hits are the ones most worthy of reaching the popularity they have, as the rest of the songs don't stick out as much. The lyricism was nice and helped portray intricate stories, which I found to especially be the case on the title track. What frustrated me about this album was how the first 5 or so tracks felt cohesive but unique in their own ways --- all strong songs --- while the final 6 or so felt a little redundant and similar sounding, blending together. I almost feel like this would have been more effective as an EP, but a great album nonetheless. 3/5 stars

Tried to stay awake during this but it is so soporific. Maybe they are great, but they make me yawn. I know they are adored by millions, but just don’t get it. Snooze.

Early Coldplay are good for about 3 good songs per album. On this one it’s “In My Place” (which has annoyingly been stuck in my head for two days now), “The Scientist” and “Clocks”. Three pretty good tracks and a bunch of filler that I can’t remember any of 48 hours later. Meh.

As I said in my last review, I've never really given Coldplay proper time of day. This album is stacked with radio hits (the whole run from In My Place -> Clocks, Green Eyes, Warning Sign) and is nicely put together. I found it to be a little sleepy and ran a touch long for my tastes, but altogether was a nice listen. Specifically, I appreciated God Put a Smile upon Your Face. Just a fantastically draw song. Not to take away from it at all, Daylight sounded a bit like late career Radiohead-lite with the strings etc. As much as I detested it growing up, Clocks is a great pop song. That damned piano line is ridiculously catchy. As I said, I found this to be a bit sleepy and while the hits are strong enough, I don't see myself drawn back to this magnetically in any sense. So for that its a high 3.

This album is better than I expected it would be. But I didn't find it as good as I wished it would be. I wanted to be surprised that, having not liked Coldplay for years, this album would be fantastic. The sound is exactly how I would have imagined it being, probably because we've all heard Clocks and The Scientist a million times a piece (thanks math review guy). Maybe it would be better if it was 15 minutes shorter.

It's pleasant enough but doesn't do a ton for me.

Not too bad although instrumentals could have been a little more pronounced. Album starts better than it ends. Scientist is overrated af, politik underrated. I very much like how it is less overproduced like their later material.

Not my cup of tea

I guess it's decent musically. Coldplay, though. "People? "People" Jeremy, are idiots. "People" voted for Hitler and listen to Coldplay."

I was honestly expecting this to also be a dud considering how Coldplay's singles are just ok, especially because they are very boring, but this album has more going on, at least the ones that focus on the more rockier/pop rock aspects than the piano stuff. It's not my favorite (I prefer listening to Snow Patrol or something) but it's not bad!

While i have heard a bunch of Coldplay songs before this album started of with some songs I hadn't heard before and they weren't bad by any means. But then The scientist and Clocks started playing and it became clear why some of their songs have more than 20 times as many listens on Spotify as others. Coldplay is still a great band and they have many great songs. So while I wont be listening through the entire album again I did go on a binge of their best songs according to me.

Bar the hits, this album is pretty boring. The scientist and Clocks are undeniably great, but there are only 2 other songs really worth mentioning.

Honestly better then I thought it would be

Better than I was expecting. Very listenable.

-idk what i was expecting going into this, but i think i might actually prefer this album to parachutes. the piano and drum stuff is a niiice touch -i think i actually preferred some of the deep cuts on here to the big hits. there were undoubtedly a couple boring tracks but overall, really pretty and captivating. nice -Favorites are God Put a Smile upon Your Face, Daylight, and A Whisper

Well produced and easy to listen to, but not especially compelling.

Not as bad as I thought it was gonna be, a few good tracks - the first track was rockier than I expected. Overall pretty bland.

6/10. Easy listening record with a couple of great hits (Scientist, clocks) but lots of forgettable tracks. Strong opener and title track. Idk how anyone likes In My Place. Found a lot of songs had elements and moments I enjoyed, but struggled to build to convincing hooks. Didn’t have the payoffs I was looking for, but still a perfectly fine album.

The hits on this one are actually quite good, even of they’re really overplayed and slightly boring. The deep cuts are just boring.

What can I say? It’s Coldplay. It’s fine.

Okay, but the falloff from their debut is noticeable. Still, there are a few good songs in here, the hits. ⭐⭐⭐

Not the best Coldplay album but a lot better than yesterdays

A timeless classic

Inoffensive easy listening fav track: rush of blood to the head

It was way better than I expected, few of the songs were actually really good comparing to what I expected and the rest was okay - but the album became very repetetive over some time.

1. Politik - 7.5/10 2. In My Place - 7/10 3. God Put a Smile upon Your Face - 7/10 4. The Scientist - 7/10 5. Clocks - 7.4/10 6. Daylight - 8/10 7. Green Eyes - 6.5/10 8. Warning Sign - 7.5/10 9. A Whisper - 8/10 10. A Rush of Blood to the Head - 7.8/10 11. Amsterdam - 7.5/10 7.5/10

Good calm

ok randomly ive been listening to so much coldplay lately and Yellow has like been the soundtrack to my grandfather's death (no idea why) i remember begging my piano teacher to let me learn Clocks on the piano and she wouldnt let me because it wasn't royal conservatory ... anyways it was cool to listen to and i kinda wanna listen to their 2024 album ...

Clocks is awesome, but besides that it’s alright

Not a bad album, it had the typical Coldplay sound and some of the songs were even familiar. Overall, their songs are mainly just for a background listen because sometimes nothing really happens, whereas if you just leave it playing in the background, it's a nice little jam.

i mean its fine but why is everything so slowww?

Some underrated Coldplay songs. Bit slow dancey though.

Best Song: Clocks Worst Song: God Put a Smile upon Your Face

I wanted to knock this entirely but it's quite good in songwriting. A bit whiney still

Good record, liked Parachutes better.

- Ich bin absolut kein Coldplay Fan, nein die Band ist eher sogar negativ behaftet.. bin einfach kein großer Fan von seiner Stimme - trotzdem ist das Album insgesamt ganz gut und man kann es sich gut Mal anhören

Good album overall, not a huge fan of Coldplay though, but all the pieces come together and this album I felt illustrates what they do really well, with the lyrics and vocals.

In My Place; The Scientist; y Clocks; son canciones que trascendieron en la historia de Coldplay. Siendo, hasta ahora, himnos de esta banda y el pop/rock británico.

75% Best: God Put a Smile upon Your Face; The Scientist; A Whisper Must-Hear? Not quite

Hating Coldplay is a meme. They’re fine and these are some iconic bangers

Chill et coherent

I think this album is good overall. Not my favorite Coldplay album, but I think it has some of their best songs on here.

Better than I remember, but still a bit generic to my ears. I find it easily confused with a number of other artists.

Förstår varför de blev stora, men inte min typ av musik

I appreciate this album being on here because I think that it represents a time in culture. That culture happens to be minimalist, ultra safe, ultra boring bullshit. But you can't tell the story of music over the past 100 years without talking about this absolutely dreadful period of pop rock.

Big nostalgia factor with this album. Favorite Song: "Clocks"

It is a solid album, it kinda reminds me of Radiohead.

I was in high school when this came out, so the singles were everpresent. As an album I enjoyed myself! It's a bit hard to untangle the nostalgia from the real quality of this, but I ultimately think it's good!

I have never really listened to Coldplay, and if I have, they clearly did not leave an impression! Listening to this album, I feel (for a lack of a better word) - underwhelmed. I must have heard hundreds of songs that sound like these. They sound simple, but not in a way that truly hits with its simplicity! Paradoxically, I think this is exactly what the appeal is- The familiarity of it! It's something I would put on when I want to listen to music without actually wanting to engage with music. When I want to zone out sitting in a semi-crowded bus at the end of a tiring day! That being said, there are a couple of songs I would definitely return to: Politik, and The Scientist! Album rating: ⭐⭐1/2

I tried to give this an unbiased review because I have some preconceived notions about Coldplay. I will admit I enjoyed it for the first half and was considering a 4, but it just got too repetitive for me, so it lands at a 3.

always thought this album cover was Bill the Cat

"A Rush of Blood to the Head" stands out as arguably Coldplay's best album. At this point in their career, they had not fully transitioned to a full pop sound; instead, some tracks, such as "Politik," retain a certain rawness, and the album overall is full of memorable hooks and lively rhythms. The track "Clocks" is not only the highlight of the album, but is also my favourite song they ever recorded. Other solid tracks include "God Put A Smile On Your Face," "Green Eyes," and "Amsterdam." I understand the criticism directed at Coldplay given their subsequent albums have struggled to reach the quality of this one, as they moved closer toward a more manufactured pop sound. Nevertheless, this album is objectively good, brimming with vibrant musical energy. Is this music revolutionary? Certainly not. Should it be included on this list? Perhaps not. However, that does not make it a bad an album, either.

I dont get all the hype

Très bel album avec Parachutes. J'ai en revanche vraiment pas aimé tout ce qui a suivi.

Coldplay is like comfort food. Solid album.

Coldplay’s radical shift towards dance-pop is shit, but it literally highlights their two first albums. These were highly accessible yet imbued with an alternative sensibility and a dark, ethereal quality. Among others songs, “A rush of blood to the head“ ‘s fierce intensity and introspective spirit struck a deep chord with me back then. Clearly not a revolution in music, it has been overplayed and it sometimes also carries an annoying, whiny dimension, but it remains a good album that I enjoyed revisiting.

3.0 - Ok

way better than I was expecting, still not my thing

Some bangers. I see why it was such a big hit when it came out

The Scientisssssssstttttt. CLoooooccccckkkkssss. Honestly, two great songs. but I have heard them so much in my lifetime that I just don't need to hear them anymore for the rest of my life. Like why did Daylight get the shaft? Its got something more interesting sonically than either of the 2 smash hits.

I like cold play and I know this was a popular album for them but this one didn’t seem as good as some of the others.

Some of the old Coldplay still present, but the stadium rock ideals were showing. A good album, but too commercial.

This was fine. Nothing grabbed my attention except the two songs I already knew (The Scientist and Clocks). I think Coldplay is good but kind of overdone for me at this point. It doesn't really have staying power

Hard to give this an objective review with the songs being so overplayed since its release. Feel like this is so often the soundtrack of a supermarket trip. While it's bland, I also didn't mind listening to it

Coldplay get a lot of hate for being boring, and fair play they are a bit boring. This album has some decent songs, albeit the whole thing now sounds v dated. It's okay, not anything particularly special in my opinion, it's one of those albums that is very of it's time. Green Eyes is actually a really sweet song though, enjoyed hearing that again.

Shockingly good. It’s still too long, dreary and his voice is annoying throughout; but there is defo something here at least. The mixture of extreme blandness and bombast is a somewhat interesting combination, and is at its most compelling whenever the two are actively pushing against one another.

I'm excited for this one! I know that Coldplay is often thought of as being cheesy or lame arena rock music these days. But when the first two Coldplay albums came out, none of that had happened yet. I was like 14, into indie music, and liked being a music snob more than my other friends. Coldplay gave me the chance to do all three. ha. It actually brings me back to this time I was on a road trip on Vancouver Island, where I had a burned cd that sort of combined the first two albums. I listened to it on my walkman and now the memories of these songs brings me back there. Even though it was summertime, it was perfect for the sort of grey and hazy weather that was there at the time. The first few tracks are so good. No skips at all. The remaining half of the record is good, but doesn't have that same no skip quality. I really enjoyed listening to this while I read and I'm glad to have run into this album here.

3/11, 27%

Mostly just stuff to hear but not stuff to listen to. I read that Chris Martin wrote about 30 songs for the album - it's a pity that he didn't write just 10 really good ones.

AKA when a pop band is inspired by Kid A

“Ain't nobody got nothing to say about a 40-degree day. Fifty, bring a smile to your face. Sixty, shit…damn near barbecuing on that motherfucker. Go down to 20…get their blood complaining. But forty? Nobody give a fuck about 40.”

I won't lie, my heart sunk when I saw this one. I was expecting the worst and honestly it was a reasonably decent album with a handful of good tunes. Delightfully surprised and somewhat glad to have this one in the rearview. Highlight(s): the Scientist/Green Eyes/Warning Sign Lowlight(s): God Put a Smile Upon Your Face/A Rush of Blood to the Head

Not these guys again. Another hour of music so unremarkable that I already forgot about it an hour later.

I like it. I'd like a little more variety, which I think they do well on Viva La Vida, but this is solid work.

"The Scientist" and "Clocks" are definitely the stars of the show here. I was actually pretty underwhelmed by the rest of the album.

I was ready for some fight. To hate it or love it, to pick a side in everlasting war between good and overrated. It is fine. If you are in right mood it will fit perfectly and you can enjoy some melancholy.

hello me from 2015 3/5 sorry Coldplay

Rock para comercial de IPhone. O mais inofensivo de todos os tempos

elst frekar vel. er svona poppaðri útvarpshaus. hefur samt aldrei heillað mig. 3.

This is a beautiful, well-engineered album that didn't appeal to me personally on the first listen. I'm still going to add it to the collection. Maybe repeated listens will help me connect to the music.

This Coldplay album sounds a lot like the one before it. It’s not bad, but not particularly great either—just very middle of the road and inoffensive. It has a bit of nostalgia as a product of its time, but it’s not something I would go back to.

Nice album, always

I read they started out as ‘Samey Same and the Same Things”, then Gwenyth said “I’m cold, play that song you play so well” and they did, over and over again and again…

Not a bad album- I prefer their debut and found that they were already a bit samey by this album. A few good songs that I enjoy when they come on but can’t imagine I’ll listen to this as an entire album again.

Actually pretty good, I could listen to that some times. Coldplay deserves the Nickleback renaissance.

Coldplay is like the high you get from smoking a cigarette for the first time. It's fun in the moment, not too dangerous, you know that there are better, more interesting highs to be had, but this one was easy to achieve because you just stole one from your grandmother's purse without her knowing and the plus side is it won't last too long that your parents will find out what you did. But seriously, if Chris Martin were not Chris Paltrow, the pseudo-christian rock, overly-earnest-yet-annoying-as-fuck celebrity we know him today, and if you ignored the fact that he exploits collabs with black youth culture in order to stay relevant, imagine hearing the first half of this album at an open mic night -- it would kill. Politic, In my place, the Scientist, Clocks. Those are great pop songs. I don't care that a crescendo culminating with a single chord strum was done better by Radiohead. Fine. The Scientist still slaps. Come at me!

The first half of this album is incredibly solid, the second half doesn't quite meet the same standards and you'd be forgiven for checking out early. Sadly, a sign of things to come, I fear, for Coldplay after this.

Coldplay's second album, 'A Rush of Blood to the Head' is meticulously produced and clean with some instantly recognisable and cleverly made hit songs. 'The Scientist' or 'Clocks' are among the most played rock songs from the early 2000s and the whole decade. The problem is that I find the album instrumentally not really creative and interesting, and all the songs follow the same formula stylistically which makes it a bit dull and boring after about half of the album. They elevated their sound and progressed from their debut album - they weren't too commercial with this album either, and this album is definitely their best in their catalogue but overall it is not to my liking. I realised this band will remain a singles band to me as I don't enjoy very much their studio albums as a whole. 6/10.

Argh more boreplay.

This album was everywhere when I growing up, especially the popular songs which actually made me loathe them a bit. As an adult they are like sound to me like Radiohead but Christian. Excellent production quality to music that kind of bores me a bit. His voice sounds like he is chewing every word and whining. I don’t loathe them anymore but they still aren’t my favorite. 6/10

15/02/25

It doesn't do anything, for me. The only song that barely stuck in my head was The Scientist. Aside from that one, I didn't felt anything with this album. Just a neutral impresion overall. A 5.

The album was an easy listen with what felt like sonically simple instrumentals. I believe that is by design because the lyrics are quite deep. I think I would like this album more if I took the time to understand and relate to the content of the album.

It was okay. Not something I’ll listen to in full again, but better than yesterday’s.

I cant give this anything above a very average middle of the road rating

Never thought I'd like Coldplay, but the only song I knew for sure that I didn't like was that yellow song (not on this album). After listening to an entire album, this was really enjoyable and a relaxing listen. Wouldn't mind listening to again

A few really good songs (The Scientist, God Put a Smile on your Face, Clocks), but also a fair bit of filler. Struggled to make it to the end! Their earlier work, such as this album, is better before they fell into even more repetitive song structures and whiny, earnest lyrics. 3⭐️

3 stars

I mean, I can easily see how this spawned a couple of respectable Radio-2 playlist hits. Milquetoast with your milquetea. And there is some merit in that. What I can't get my head around is Coldplay's emergent status as U2-style biggest-band-in-the-world by default. Truly baffling.

I actually saw Coldplay on this tour, and it was excellent. Really enjoy this album, although this is where my Coldplay listening pretty much stopped. I've certainly heard some of their more recent things, but between this album and Parachutes, I'm good. Highlights are obvious: Politic, Clocks, The Scientist

loved it in my youth. now it's a tad bit too sleazy for me to fully enjoy. still, solid.

Not bad. I rather enjoyed this one this morning. I've heard it before and it didn't make any memories for me so I enjoyed the chance to give it a closer listen today.

I think this album is 2-3 songs too long.

Pretty solid, to me Coldplay has like one sound but it's a sound they do well so! Can't complain

honestly great but chris martins voice has the effect of going in one of my ears and out the other

It's fine, but nothing really grabbed my attention—good or bad.

Sorprendentemente me gustaron las canciones que no había escuchado. Me siento muy white girl escuchando Coldplay pero bien

Just fine

Radiohead but meant for the radio

Well, I wasn't an adolescent in 2002 when this album was released, so maybe I just don't get the draw. I dig the sound of Chris Martin's voice, but honestly the music feels adolescent and repetitive to me in a way that I don't love. And I'd be happy if I never heard "Clocks" again for the rest of time. This is fine, but just fine. It's more like a 2.5 than a 3, honestly, but not bad in a sense that it needs a 2.

I liked this a lot more than the other Coldplay album we've heard here, and i clearly spent a lot of time with some of these songs in the early 2000s. The back half of the album dragged like crazy.

this was so overexposed in the early aughts that it sounds like stale chips taste now. we really were starving for good pop back then. the hits are the hits and the stuff in between is hmmmmm more resilient than i expected it to be. making a willful effort to ignore how insincere everything about chris martin always seemed (to musical fucking brats who came of age in the early aughts), this is good.

It was a pretty solid album. I would like to go back and give it a second listen to see if there are any songs that really jump out to me. On first listen it was good, just not my favorite or one that I would listen to regularly.

All logical reasoning says that I should like Coldplay. They write beautiful melodies which are well-performed and well-produced. However, I feel kind of meh. For the longest time I thought I just disliked Chris Martins voice but he proves me wrong whenever I hear him outside of Coldplay. The reason I don't like them, are because they usually lack a sense of drama. I am not talking about drama as in stage presence — I don't care for gimmicks and acting. I talk about musical moments that awaken you and force you to pay attention. This is something they have become increasingly better at. However, there are also moments here where they succeed. God Put a Smile on My face is brilliant piece of dynamic rock music that reeks of a band that dares to explore what they can do with their sound. The intro of Clocks is beautifully atmospheric. Sadly, these all drown out in the dull mediocrity of The Scientist, or the almost interesting In My Place.

I've always associated Coldplay with more or less boring pop. Now I've listened to the album. I wasn't entirely wrong in my opinion. There are a few nice tracks on the album, but it's not really thrilling. There are more interesting pop albums out there. 3/5

Ok listen

Genuinely not as bad as I thought it would be. Politik the standout track. Probably won't listen again though.

That's not my taste in music - But ok

>like it except the bridge part >rraahh >nirvana vibes >meh piano >clocks is clocks >yes brotha >chill, like it >chill but okay >cool vibee >sympathisch >yes

It’s Coldplay. Moody enough to keep my attention. Though I might never put this album on, I also wouldn’t turn it off. Green eyes is a pretty sweet song. There are also a few other songs here that I think have worked their way into ubiquity for better or worse, verylikely from grocery stores. Saw them live in the early 2000’s. That I can’t remember if it was the tour for this album is an indication of their position in my catalog.

Listenable. I don't have much else to say about this one.

Politik 3.2 In My Place 3.4 God Put a Smile Upon Your Face 3 The Scientist 3.1 Clocks 3.3 Daylight 3.1 Green Eyes 3 Warning Sign 3.2 A Whisper 3.2 A Rush of Blood to the Head 3.3 Amsterdam 3 Score: 3.163636364

Fine. Atmospheric music that panders to your emotions, you'll have to try harder then that Chris.

Idk man kinda made me wanna kiss boys

I am generally not a big fan of Coldplay, and particularly dislike their music of the latest years, but I guess this album is okay. Still I found it quite boring and wondered 2 times during listening it whether it was close to ending already.

OK, not as good as I expected

Having only heard Coldplay hits before and never a whole album, this started off well but then tailed off for me and became a bit ploddy.

Some big hitters on this, Clocks & the scientist amongst others. I've always assumed that Coldplay songs were written by someone with not much to write about. And now after listening to this, from what I can can gather, this is mostly about a needy bloke who, quite rightly in my mind, is being constantly spurned by his lover/partner. And I can fully understand why! Who'd want a needy Chris Martin lallopping around you like a dejected slavering oversize puppy. But with all that said and done, I listened to this whilst on an early morning winter walk, and despite the vapid introspection and needy whining, it made for an interesting companion for on the way. And for that reason will give it 3 stars.

Not particularly unique. I like The Scientist, but overall, the album was kind of boring.

As someone whose only exposure to Coldplay are their singles, this is a really nice-sounding album indicative of the 2000s. Not really a fan of the vocal delivery and lyricism.

It was alright

I used to love this album, but this was the first time I'd listened to it in probably fifteen years besides the singles. The back half of the album was a bit of a bore until "A Rush of Blood to the Head".

Interesting themes potentially, at first the instrumentals were refreshing but after all the songs the sound is kind of repetitive. Mellow sounding

No soy nada fan de Coldplay, pero con este disco descubrí que los temas que me chocan son los súper hits. Las menos conocidas me gustaron considerablemente más.

Coldplay doing Coldplay things. Better than their debut album though. At least initially before it went a bit downhill. The Scientist is still probably the best Coldplay song.

It’s just ‘OK’ isn’t it, and dragged a bit towards the end. A couple of the singles are decent, but others are just soppy bollox crowd pleasers. More generally speaking though I just don’t understand how they’ve achieved such global status. He’s an average singer (with some questionable falsetto), and musically it’s very limited. They make U2 seem like musical visionaries. So 5 stars to their marketing department, or perhaps just marrying a Hollywood A lister does the job alone.

My first introduction to Coldplay. I hated "Clocks" as a kid, but as an adult, I kind of looked forward to revisiting older Coldplay. I've always kind of brushed them off as a Starbucks band, and to some degree, I was right, but they've since long outgrown my original critique. Though they're primarily known as a pop group, I forget that they were just a soft alternative rock band at one point. "In My Place" is kind of what I expected from Coldplay. "The Scientist" is the song that originally brought me back to Coldplay. The simple arrangement and the wistful vocals truly ground this song in lived experience. and who could forget "Clocks", though I will admit I can enjoy this song for what it is. Something Coldplay excels at is building and holding tension. Songs like "Daylight", "God put a Smile upon Your Face" and "A Whisper" were welcome surprises. The instrumentation and general brooding mood feels like something from Radiohead. Especially the extended instrumental on "A Whisper". The song, "A Rush of Blood to the Head" was the only real low point. All said, this was a solid second effort and they deserved the attention they received, though I could've done without their "pop band arch". This album absolutely deserves to be here.

A couple songs I enjoyed, the rest were pleasant but not memorable.

This is actually my least favorite Coldplay era. I do like some of their songs, but 'Clocks' especially is so samey and boring. The tempo is just too sloooow (making the name apropos). I guess it's a little bit nostalgic now, but c'mon, 'Yellow' and 'Fix You' and 'Something Like This' are all better Coldplays than anything on this album. Almost Highlights: 'God Put a Smile on Your Face' started very slow, but it picked up a bit. 'The Scientist' is my favorite of the singles. I like when they say the name of the album in the album.

Pretty solid album. Nothing too exceptional for me, Clocks is one of their biggest songs and it’s the highlight of the album for me

I was never happy with the way 'alternative' rock evolved in the coldplay/radiohead/muse way - yes I associate the 3 bands very much with each other. And judging from the state of alternative rock and rock in general I think my feeling must be widely shared.

A band people seem to love to hate.... but I do like the fresh sound of Politik and I imagine there are some other songs of theirs that are pretty good. Still, nothing that interests me too much here, but could be worse.

Not a big Coldplay fan but this album was better than I thought it would be. There were a couple of songs I recognised but most were new to me. None saved to listen to again.

Decent

I liked this a lot more than their first album. This album is more dynamic and energetic. In general, I just found it more interesting and thus, I enjoyed it a fair bit. Politik hit for me, especially.

I liked this one a lot more than I thought I would. definitely feels bloated in the second half and clocks and warning sign kinda suck. giving it a 3 because I probably won't ever listen to it again in full but I enjoyed my time with it, a whisper and god put a smile upon your face both rock.

wasn't really paying attention because of homework and shit but this was the first Coldplay album I listened to and it was pretty cool. I enjoyed some of the softer stuff, and the composition of some of the songs subverted any expectations I had going in. I might give it a listen at some point in the future to try and really hear what they're saying. Adding to the liked songs for future shuffle.

I already have The Scientist and Clocks on my Liked Songs list but nothing else really stood out. Good for background music

I always wrote off Coldplay but they're actually pretty good.

Coldplay feels like the British Nickelback. People hate on them for no real reason other than it's the fun/funny thing to do. I enjoyed most of this album, the singles are undeniably catchy.

It's perfectly fine. Some good songs but I don't think I'll ever seek out listening to it as an album

A 3, but a solid 3

3 boring

It was pretty good. TBH a little boring but I respect its brilliance and the scientist and amsterdam are all timers

I fear this album gets a tad boring, and maybe i'm just in a bad mood with these albums idk... but it's giving a 2. but amsterdam is goated so i'll give it a 3

This is a very safe, very middle-of-the-road album—but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. It’s mellow without being dreary, offering a soothing listening experience that’s pleasant and relaxing. While I personally prefer modern Coldplay, where they’ve leaned into dancier elements, this album still holds up as a strong example of their early work. The songs are polished and radio-friendly, with Chris Martin’s vocals bringing a gentle warmth throughout. The album may not be groundbreaking, but it’s consistent and enjoyable, even if it doesn’t reach any dazzling highs. Completely unrelated to the music, but I have to say—Chris Martin’s guest appearance on Modern Family was genuinely hilarious. That has nothing to do with the album, but it’s stuck with me! Standout Song: Amsterdam Score: 3/5

This started out really good, but then got boring about 2/3 of the way through. I actually couldn't wait for it to end so I could listen to something different.

3.5 a solid, enjoyable thing. The last of the listenable Coldplay....

I liked this album more when I was younger, but there's some decent stuff on here.

Very meh

It's a Coldplay record. They pretty much define the middle-of-the-road, three-star album, don't they?

Some solid songs and some less memorable ones.

How are they so massive. I'll tell you, keep it safe, appeal to the masses. There's some singles on here you'll know if you spent anytime in the last 20 years listening to Radio 2. It's OK, but is any of it exciting? Not really, Melancholy is the word, very twee. It just isn't for me. It's a 2.5 really just because I can see the appeal but essentially it's mainly dross.

Some good songs, overall a bit boring

I'm slightly on the fence with this one TBH

It had a couple of songs that I enjoyed. It's not my favorite genre, honestly. I do think that if it was 2009, I would have been more open to it.

It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Thank god Yellow isn't on here though.

Never listened to Coldplay, so I was excited to check this out to hear the hype around the group I’ve always seen. But it's middling... Neither good or bad, just kind of inoffensive mainstream rock music.

Half good. Half really meh

Not a bad album, plenty of recognisable songs so gets a higher rating just on familiarity alone, still not a fan of Chris Martin’s voice though and you should never trust a man who’s full name is just two first names. Musically they are very solid. However, I’m hoping this is the only Coldplay album that made it into the 1001. 3.5/5 ideally but I’m going to round down because of some PTSD I’ve experienced with ‘Yellow’, even though it doesn’t feature on the album. ‘Warning Sign’ was also a good song, I’ve not heard it before.

60% of it was the same song over and over again, enjoyed the less miserable stuff

Nice to listen to but lyrics all just sound like vague nonsense. Musically very cool though. Did enjoy, never in a rush to listen to again though.

Pretty good album. I think the first half is loaded with better songs, and the ones that are good are exceptional. Nice vocals, guitar, piano. Some great songwriting.

Two famous and boring songs surrounded by not at all famous and boring songs.

I had a copy of this when it first came out and still only remember the first few songs, the end really drags.

Pleasant enough. I lost interest a couple of times. Few stand-out moments. 3/5.

Undeniably a great album and musically amazing, especially for 2002. I just hate Coldplay 😂

Ja leuk, maar ook Coldplay. Goed dat het veel bangers zijn, beetje saai wel

Nostalgia, mostly.

Not my thing at all but I can see why it is so popular

Comforting and pretty; but not very interesting.

Better than I thought but I still don’t get the hype on these guys.

7/10 I’m in the camp that Coldplay are actually good, and not due a lot of the negative attention that they get Having said that, I do prefer the albums immediately after this one, where they expand the sound both in terms of experiments and pop sensibility This one is extremely well crafted indie rock, but very much stays in that lane But there are a lot of very good songs on here - several could be considered greatest hits Best: God Put a Smile Upon Your Face

Better than the other one!

It's alright. Nothing particularly stood out.

'Clocks' still makes me want to spin around and jump up and down but most of the rest of it blurred into an often whiney quiet-loud-quiet mush.

Coldplay.

Very few Coldplay songs make me feel anything. This album had a couple rise above meh level.

A few good ones.

Better than I expected. Not quite my taste, but good music and I feel more respect for Coldplay listeners now. Id only heard Clocks before, I like it and the rest were pretty good. Just a bit too… pop for me.

Pretty much as expected. Standout songs: Politik Clocks

Not a big fan of cold play

You gotta be in the right mood for sure but you have to admit Coldplay can write some ballads. Clocks is an all timer

eh, its not too bad

Music is much better than I gave it credit for when you separate and listen. Shame Chris Martin is so fucking wet.

Not a hater. This was ok.

Respekti kolmosta aika mullistavaa musiikkia avantgarde....

Much better than I anticipated. Sounds quite a lot like a more melodic Radiohead. Some really strong tracks on here like the title track and Clocks. Doubt I'll listen to it much more though.

Never heard the album before. I'm not a big fan of Coldplay, but I didn't hate this album. At the same time there's nothing noteworthy here. a soft 3 stars.

Very good, well made but unspectacular pop. I like their first albums better.

Yeah it’s fine. Like I’m not a big Coldplay guy but the songs are catchy enough, just don’t really linger.

good album.

I discounted this album when it came out because of the constant radio play the hits got, but there's other good songs on this album besides what made the radio. Politik is a great opener to the album and a better song than the hits Clocks and The Scientist. A Whisper gives some early Radiohead vibes that I dig.

Meh, never been a fan of CP, seems pretty pedestrian

It's not something I'd choose to listen to, but I also wouldn't mind if somebody else put it on. Favorites: "God Put a Smile upon Your Face", "The Scientist", "A Rush of Blood to the Head"

Full of many bangers, if you’re not a loathsome Coldplay hater. The last 3 songs can get a little boring, but even they can be sweet little ditties if you’re in the right mood for them. Green Eyes had me tearing up thinking about how much I love my lady, who of course has green eyes. This is one I’ve heard before, but am always happy to hear again! A worthy follow-up to their incredible debut album, Parachutes.

Good background noise but didn’t grab me for more than the occasional line

Good variance in album, a classic by Coldplay

I do own this album picked it up for a couple dollars second-hand because I liked 'The Scientist' and 'Clocks'. 'Politik' always surprises me as a good opener, but there's nothing particularly special about this album.

I don't hate this music. I don't even really actively dislike it. It's just so bland. So clearly designed to be palatable to the masses. I want to hate it but it's so uninspired I can't even work up the energy to have such strong emotions about this band. 2.5

A solid album. A peak of some very good songs in the middle. A mostly chilled vibe.

The singles from the album make it tempting to rate it a little higher. Clocks might just be their best work to date. I couldn’t help but feel a stiffness to the production. When the backround ooos come in on the track The Scientist is a prime example. The filler tracks feel really filler. Especially compared to some of their biggest hits.
