Reviews (page 7 of 8)

This was very bleh.

Couldn't bring myself to finish this, and I tried thrice.

I'm really not sure if it was the fact I listened to this while trying to not fall over on black ice while on my commute, or it's inherent thrashiness, but post listening I was extremely anxious. I thought it was incredibly samey and the lack of variety really hindered it. I also had Master of Puppets stuck in my head all day afterwards and I'm assuming getting a different artist's (superior) song as a earworm is probably not a good sign. 2/5

New to me. I tried hard - listened twice! But not for me. Do all thrash records sound the same because of the voodoo vocals? No favourite track but Dawn Patrol seemed a relief.

As background music particularly for existing in spaces where noone knows you i gotta admit this is kinda incredible (keen for your review emily assuming you listened somewhere over the oceans). If i listen to what this man is trying to say to me it sounds like a school of rock parody i fear his messages only detract from this experience - also if i stop to think about the music/vibe for a minute its diminishing returns but look for cultivating an almost entirely false narrative of how one might be perceived it really works - oh no the man has started speaking again thats another star from you bucko

This was really in one ear, out the other for me. Can appreciate it for what it is but it’s really not my jam.

I finally listened to an album!! obviously metal is not my most listened to genre so this was not my favourite. but I loved the song names (poison was the cure, tornado of souls) and also those guitars were electrifying

An impressive outing. The lyrics are impressively bad. They seem to be the political ramblings of an angsty teen which in and of itself isn’t necessarily a terrible concept but they manifest in the clunkiest angsty metaphors. This, coupled with Mustaine’s voice make every time he’s singing an infuriating endeavour. Musically, it is impressive, and I find myself enjoying the groove of it all when there’s no singing. During those times I can see why people enjoy this genre. It’s hard to say if I like this more or less than the Metallica one. Musically, it feels better produced and less tinny but I’d still rather listen to the like 7 good Metallica songs than this again.

OK. 2/5

Kinda hard to listen to, but the instrumentation is fun.

Probably a very good example of music I definitely dont like very much. 1.5 star

Soundtrack of my childhood, I’m sure. Great metal, I’m sure. But not really my scene.

I’m not a heavy metal fan and only able to listen to this music for a very short time, so I listened to this album in 3 short sessions. All metal music blends into one mushy, similar thing for me, so it’s even hard to rate this album. It's okay, I guess... 2/5 —————————————— Liked: — Holy Wars...The Punishment Due

This is one of those albums that make me think the folks over there at 1K1 Albums You Have To Hear Inc. are pulling a fast one on us listeners. Not only do I think this album doesn't need to be on this list, I don't even think this is Megadeth's best album. (The fact that it was nominated for a Grammy just shows you how corrupt that system is. But I digress) I used to love this band. Now I don't. I don't know what happened, but I'm sure it happened sometime around Rust In Peace.

Not my jam. Appreciate the effort, but pass.

Heavy metal, not my speed

I like Metal from time to time. Not these guys.

not so bad as i thought it would be but still uninteresting

There’s something academic about Mustaine’s approach to thrash or maybe it’s metal for nerds? It keeps it apart from Slayer’s speed at all costs and Metallica’s classic rock leanings. Yet the halftime changes and whatnot did feel like they overlapped with where hardcore was going around the same time. It’s Rush or Maiden but for X-Files fans. Anyhow I thought this was great fun, even a little scary when I was a preteen, and while I admire the changes and performances it’s pretty silly stuff.

Just can't get on board with the vocal. 2/5.

It’s ok. Some decent guitar stuff. I feel like it could go a little harder. (2.5)

I knew Hangar 18 coming into this and it's never made me want to discover more Megadeth. They're fine but it's not really my thing. I'm sure I'll raise some ire here but to me, they sound like a poor man's Metallica. You can hear the similarities between them but whereas Metallica were capable of writing grander, deeper songs, this feels very straight ahead, meat and potatoes thrash. If that's your thing then I'm sure this is great, but it doesn't really do it for me.

Ok, but not my genre at all

Not my usual genre- I can appreciate the speedy guitar riffs, but not the music/lyrics.

Better than expected.

I appreciate it for what it is but it’s not for me

Megadeth? More like Meh-Tallica

I delayed about 2 weeks to listen to this and it is definitely not for me. All the songs sound the same except for Dawn Patrol. I understand it is popular and I appreciate the skill to play those solos, and even the eplace on the list, but this is too niche for me. 2/5

Definitely can hear the technical prowess on the guitar. But this hard core metal isn't for me.

Similar review to Megadeth's other album on the 1001 list, it has insanely cool guitar and drum work, but thrash-metal isn't something I'd actively listen to.

A very capable band. If I was into this stuff Dave Mustaine's name would be more familiar to me. It's probably good that I can't hear the lyrics. I presume they're lame. This is definitely a better record IMO than Metallica's "Black Album." 2

Favourite Track: Tornado of souls

I'm just not a metal person.

3/10… trash & metal

Imanol said it is their best album. I had to stop listening to them, but I can't deny its influence or its skill. I am facing the dilemma of wether giving it 2 stars (what it was for me) or more... well, I will rate my liking.

Megalame

do not like the vocals

Not as bad as I expected (hate this kind of music), but still it's hard for me to listen to the whole thing

pretpostavljam da je ovo metalcima super... ne znam. znaju svirat, al taj stil glazbe i stil pjevanja pogotovo – sve to jednostavno nije za mene :/ pogotovo glas. najbolja je stvar predzadnja, lakša i basom vođena, baš fora u stvari. al ostatak me ostavlja ravnodušnim. zašto metal uvijek nastoji biti toliko "epik" il neš? nije mi jasno

This is just annoying.

Meh. Not for me.

this isn’t my thing so was a bit rough to get through

I have never been a big thrash metal fan and while I know this is one of the best thrash metal albums, it ranks lower than many other albums I've listened and will listen on this list.

Always thought Megadeth was super lame metal.

40 Minuten Quietsche-Quietsche Gitarrensoli. GEH WEG, ich wünschte ich wäre Mega Tod

Except for the funky technical guitar work this was monotonously boring.

Dave mustaine is a racist pos. He may have mellowed to be not so over time. But there’s a reason Metallica breaks records and this sells respectably. As immature and obtuse as Metallica can be they were never racist or even homophobic. Everyone who wanted to listen could listen. This is extremely good musically. And is one of the blueprints for thrash. But its unpleasant themes ruin it for me. 2 stars.

Better than I expected. Was always going to be guitar heavy.not sure when I’d listen to an album like this ?

Nah, I struggled with this one. Thrash metal feels so one paced that the raw energy gets lost somewhat as it all blurs together as one long track with lots of different solos. This album is also let down by the weak vocals, he sounds a like bit of a lightweight Hetfield (who also isn’t a great vocalist). There were some fun unexpected chord progressions and occasional sort of pace changes, which I wish there were more of. All in all I can’t say there’s one track that stood out, and have no interest in listening again.

Oof don't like this guy's voice. I like some of the instrumentation but it's all maybe a little too heavy for me.

Tried to enjoy it but just not my thing.

I guess I have to respect Megadeth for finding a sound they liked and sticking with it in spite of what I am sure must have been intense pressure to vary the tempo every once in a while. Maybe this was supposed to be a concept album to determine if anyone could tell it was just the same song repeated 10 or 11 times?

I have never been able to get past Dave Mustaine's vocals, they seem like a joke at times and the riffs don't make up for it for me.

Tight playing, precise drums, they are obviously talented musicians. Metal is not my thing, though, because all the songs sound the same, and it seems it's all about hate, which I don't like, because it brings nothing positive. 2 stars.

Not for me.

Surprisingly decent sound for a thrash record from this era, but the lyrics and vocals make it unbearable.

Some fun guitar solos and riffs but nah. Not a Megadeth guy.

Metallica is a mediocre metal band, and Megadeth is their even worse spin off. Mustaine's voice is irritating, but not half as irritating as his arch righ-wing politics. I'll give it two stars for the decent riffing.

How can an album going this hard be boring? I don’t know how they managed to do that, but they did. Maybe because every killer, iconic guitar riff in popular culture has pauses in it and a rhythmic pattern. These guys sure do know how to play nonstop eighth and sixteen notes without pausing anywhere in their riffs to make anything musical or with melody. Yawn. So fucking boring.

Ultimately by my contemporary ears this album was very silly especially in terms of the singing style and lyrics. Musically I appreciate the guitar virtuosity. It's bombastic and over the top. Nuance is not a thing here and it's not supposed to be. Big skills on display and I like the dual lead guitar thing, but it's not something I'd personally want to listen to for straight enjoyment, rather for a laugh while doing a Beavis and Butthead impersonation. This is probably an age thing too. Born in 1980, I'd bet this hits a nostalgia button for folks just a tad bit older than me since I didn't get into thrash metal until I stole my brother's cassette of Metallica's black album...

It was a thing that happened. I existed while it played. 2/5 – not a ringing endorsement, but hey, at least I didn't turn it off

Норм

Håpte eg skulle lika da bedre siden eg nettopp gjenoppdaga Symphony of Destruction

All of them sound the same

Not. My. Thing.

Nothing unusual, didn't catch on

Try as I might, metal/hardcore is just not my thing, even though I can appreciate the musicianship and the ingenuity, I just can't connect to it.

Didn’t care

1. uuarz - 2 2. hangarz - 1.5 3. prizonerz - 2 4. magicz - 2 5. poizon - 1.5 6. lucretia - 1.5 7. tornado - 1.5 8. dauun - 1 9. peace - 1.5 10. creation - 1.5 11. ruzt - 0 12. holy - 1.5 13. take no - 1.5

Kind of boring..

I liked the guitars but not much else

I do love crazy guitar riffs, but it’s harder for me to connect with albums with this type of singing. I’m into the sound until the vocalist comes in and then it alienates me a bit.

Thrash = trash. Too violent

The Good: Thrash Metal The Bad: Mustaine’s voice… The Ugly: What happens to the genre once you remove the first h in Thrash… Not a metal head. Appreciate the guitar though… Still, there isn’t a single metal record which I would play on repeat, so I will dish out the low-low score of 2* as I don’t hate it, but I can’t find myself to like it enough for a middle of the road kind of judging...

Do like me some trash metal every now and then, but this didn't hit the spot for me.

These guys certainly have skill but not my style.

Allrighty then.

Metal is not a genre for me

Music for angry people. I think I'm not angry enough... +1 for solid guitar riffs/solos

My youth went with "Peace Sells..." and "So Far, So Good...", at the point this album came out, I was listening to death metal and other extreme types of music. What I did remember was the extremely tinny soundscapes they liked on their albums. It's like they used and inverted V-shape for the soundprofile for many of the instruments, except guitars upper end. (I know of the remasters, they're compressed to shit. The original mix has dynamic range, also that's the version that has the merits to be on this list). There are some nice moments, but for the most part this is quite boring record. Merely technical trickstery for the same of being technical and nimble fingers wankery, over melodies and good riffs.

Not memorable. Wasn’t as into this as I was Peace Sells…but also wasn’t in the mood for this vibe today so that could be part of it 😂

Never been a Megadeth fan.

No surprises tbh

Noise, just noise

I simply do not care.

Singing sounds like Charlie from It's Always Sunny, I miss that little dullard.

-well it’s… not really my kind of music so I feel it just felt sort of corny and over the top. don’t get me wrong I can appreciate corny and over the top music but I wasn’t really connecting with this one very much -had some really cool guitar riffs though -Favorites are Hangar 18 and Take No Prisoners

Not for me :(

whatever

Trash, but I didn't hate it. Sounds like Metallica and Iron Maiden, as I would expect.

Not for me.

7/12/24 As much as I like this music and understand what Megadeth are to this genre as the Big Four, I thought this album was pretty weak.

I think I’d like Megadeth a little more if Dave Mustaine wasn’t their frontman. His voice is grating to me. The music is okay. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. Some of the songs are too long, but the album itself isn’t totally u pleasant. This is a 2.5 for me, but I’m rounding down largely because I won’t listen to it again.

There are no 2 bands more intrinsically linked than Metallica and Megadeth. While Megadeth gets closer than most, they never quite reach the peaks Metallica does. Rust In Peace doesn’t have the dynamics a Ride the Lightning has 5.2/10

Not my thing.

Meh. I enjoyed the Tornadoes song but the rest of it seemed sort of juvenile to me.

Can't believe we had 2 Thrash albums in a row. I didn't like this very much -- way too harsh -- but it was still better than Slayer.

Could barely listen to it.

I’m sorry but I don’t think I can get this album to win me over

Not my thing.

Good album to get after 2024 elections

Not my thing. I can enjoy it for what it is, but this style of music isn’t for me. 2.95

I was waiting for this to end.

Surprised that there’s bits here I like. Technically it’s impressive, the power is there and pulled me in - but it gets boring, if not a little tedious, quickly.

I dislike the entire aesthetic of this, from the sound to the album art. Listening to it doesn't hurt, but I don't see myself seeking this out ever.

Fast, noisy, fun. A lot. Not at all for me.

Not enjoyable.

Well, I went into this with an open mind. And the first song was pretty good. But then the weedly-weedlies started and I just lost interest. I mean, I'm sure it's fine for what it is. Great even. But I just couldn't with this today. I did like the singer, though.

Heavy stuff

A little heavy for me.

I can play it really fast. I can play it really loud. I can play it over and over. No thanks.

Fine for what it is but not my jam.

This whole style of music is just not my thing,

Not for me. Though I do think this album is more listenable than a lot of metal.

Classic metal. I'm actually into it, but I guess there is a limit to my daily dose of double-kick-drum that I can listen to without being annoyed.

not for me

Despite being the best of its kind so far, it's still 80s shredfest metal, which is so devoid of any content other than lust, hate, cars. And the guitar solos are booooring. This one straddles the line between so-bad-it's-good and so-good-it's-bad. I just don't care about this genre.

Not for me 2/5

it's ok, but simply quite boring - every song sounds the same

Man, that guy can play guitar! Thrash metal isn’t a favorite, but this album is listenable. Strong finish with Dawn Patrol (best song) and Rust Never Sleeps. Liked it enough to give it (2.6*s)

I was surprised I didn’t hate this album more, but the opening couple of tracks weren’t terrible.

Some cool riffs. A little samey for an entire album listen but there is fun playing and cool aesthetic.

More music for teenage boys and incels. Very similar to Iron Maiden - massively overblown, almost operatic vocal and furious guitars, played very very fast and with absolutely no musicality or feeling. It's just guitar as a competitive sport.

i can't stand Mustane's voice. rhythm section is tight. 2.5

Kind of repetitive but pretty good, high 2, nearly a 3.

More power chords, guitar noodling and not very strong vocals. I just feel old listening to this sort of music

not really my type of music.

Not my cup of tea

I didn't like this album nearly as much as I thought I would. I found it, more than anything else, boring? My relationship with metal music is mostly one of passing interest, I really like the first 4 Black Sabbath records, I love the first 3 Iron Maiden records, but beyond that, I haven't ever really found anything I super connected with in the genre. A couple Metallica songs or Judas Priest songs here or there, but I also wouldn't say I dislike metal. And I wouldn't say I strongly ~disliked~ this album, but I didn't like it, that's for sure. I went back and listened to some of it over again to see if maybe I was just missing something, and I just felt like I wanted it to be over. I even went back and listened to Iron Maiden's first album and immediately I was headbanging along with it, came back to Hanger 18, and just, I don't like it. Again, I don't dislike it, but I would never ever pick it to play. Also, I'm now reading lyrics (I never read lyrics, I almost don't pay attention to lyrics) is the song Lucretia about Dave Mustaine taking a walk around his house? Anyway, I don't know why I don't like it, but I don't. 2/5

3/10 - It was similar to the Iron Maiden albums but just significantly worse. His voice was annoying especially in five magics when the second voice joins in. Do not plan on ever listening to this again

I like the metal, just not so much the voice. 2/5

I must be getting old. Some of the songs were ok, some a bit better and most too loud and unable to understand the words…

Hm, einige Gitarrenparts fand ich ganz nett. Den Gesang aber überwiegend schlecht oder peinlich. Insgesamt zu langweilig.

Not for me

Eh, sorta good sound but somthing I wouldn't listen to again

Megadeth kinda sucks. Metal can be great when it carries a big atmosphere, but this almost sounds AI

Thrash/trash

Didn't think the first album of theirs I got on this was anything special and this continues the trend. Not sure why we need two of these things

It's ok. Maybe those who really know the genre can appreciate it more. I can listen to a few songs this heavy but a full album is a lot for me.

Not my thing, but good.

Every track sounded the same but I love the album artwork

2.5/5. Meh, it was not that bad, but I did not enjoy it. Not my type of music.

Well, this is way better than the Judas Priest album I got last week! What I respect about metal, and this album: 1.) The musicianship. A lot of talented musicians with technical chops. 2.) I like complex compositions, so dig the tempo changes, odd time signatures, etc. 3.) Love the energy. Dig the shredding. What I dislike about metal, and this album: 1.) It all kind of sounds the same. 2.) Metal vocals. I don't enjoy the high-pitched wailing nor the low cookie-monster growl. Very little metal falls in between. 3.) The lyrics/imagery. The constant references to dragons, death, curses, poison, disease, hellfire, burning, war, insanity, evil, snakes, jackals, roaches, gallows, cesspools, darkness, etc. "I am a nuclear murderer." It's just exhausting. So, in general, metal bores me. I can see the artist peeking through many of these cliches here, but they are totally still here. That said, in terms of a metal album, as a non-metal fan I was able to make it through this album, so that's saying something.

I was a fan of metal in the 70s then got more interested in other things. Hadn't listened to any metal that came out post-1980, until this site. Had Metallica and Slayer earlier, so I was glad to see this come up. Disappointed. Vocals sounded like a million shitty 70s bands.

supaboring

Toi aggressive for my liking but had some good old school metal vibes

The vocals ruin it but I’ll give it 2 ⭐️ because the music is good for what it is.

guitarras e tals

Cool album art. I got bored after track 3 for some reason. Will take the word of the Wikipedia article and associated references as being an important album for thrash metal. Overall: 4/10

I hate this kind of music. But, the playing is very precise, which isn’t easy to do at these tempos. 2.6

I mean, sure. If you're into that sort of thing. 2.4

Heavy metal fan and can cope with the non thrash Metallica era. But I don't get this ...

+Five Magics +Tornado of Souls 2.5

Goes hard

Known Before: Standouts: 6. Lucretia 3.5

Known Before: Band Standouts: 8. Dawn Patrol 3.5

“Y’all better hurry up and finish the album before your mom gets here to pick you up.” — overheard from the engineer’s booth at guitar center during the making of this record. It’s fine. Competent. 2/5

too rowdy for me

Wow. This was…something. I’m not sure what, but it sure was. Not for me, but I can see the appeal. I’m hoping this is the only Megadeath album I’ll need to hear, but I fear not.

I recognize the shredding talent, but good lord I just can’t. At least not alone in my house. I could see this being fun live.

Knew this wasn’t for me when I looked at the track listing to see how long there was left to go and discovered I was only on track 2. Dave Mustaine wanted to be harder and faster than Metallica and he succeeded. I prefer something a bit more melodic myself. They’re a tight unit though so I’ll give them that

I'd have a better chance at enjoying this if I listened to one song instead of 9. Got worse the longer it went

Shreds 🤘

I tried. I did. I even like an occasional thrash metal song. But not often and not more than one.

Couldn’t finish it, noisy and boring at the same time

Another one. Same thoughts as maiden. Great riffs but shit singer. Amd I like off beat singers. People who aren't the norm is my jam but no Thanks. Oldschoolers you hit it but not for me 2*

For metal to work for me, I think I need it to be quite... outstanding. And this album wasn't that for me. It's not enough to just dish out lots of notes in fast order to get my blood pumping. It should have nothing to do with the music, but it might also get dragged down by my view of Dave Mustaine as a whiny child about getting kicked out of Metallica for a being a drunk and general douche.

Best Song: Hangar 18. This song was in either a Guitar Hero or Rock Band, and the memories of being a pretend musician really amplifies the nostalgia. I might as well have written this song myself. Worst Song: Dawn Patrol. Who asked for this weirdly whispered vocal fry? Overall: A totally mediocre metal album whose listening experience was greatly influenced by my having just finished listening to Napalm Death. Sits firmly on the "boring" shelf of classic metal.

Well they work Hard and I can not say its bad but it is not my cup of tee.

Kinda sounded like one 45 minute-long song, but I got through it. Now, I would probably never play any Megadeath on purpose in my car, but if I had a friend who was like a die-hard metal fan and was into this, I wouldn't ask him (no girl is listening to this shit) to turn it off! It has a time and place. Unfortunately for them, it will likely never be the time nor place when I'm on aux.

"we've got Metallica at home"

This is not at all my type of music and I wasn't really looking forward to listening to it. Honestly though, it was better than I expected. It's still not really my music and I don't see myself listening to it again, but the band is clearly super talented and the guitars and drums are pretty impressive throughout. Just not really aligned with what I like, but I respect it. Favorite song: Rust in Peace...Polaris (Honestly they all kind of sound pretty similar to me, this is the last song on the album and it closed things out strong)

it was fine 2/5

I was expecting this to be a lot worse than what it was. It was not screaming music in which I couldn't understand it. It was heavy metal, a little heavier than Metallica. I don't think I would listen to it again though.

It's pretty cool. It's just not quite my vibe, which is odd as I do like Disturbed. I don't like the guy's voice too much and a lot of the tracks seem too similar. Standout Track: Dawn Patrol

Not worth the time.

James Hetfield is a singer who plays guitar. Dave Mustaine is a guitarist who sings.

So far... I can feel a slight headache coming on. At the same time, I feel rage and power! My favorite part of these songs is when they slow down and chill out for the "breakdown" moments. Finally, a moment to catch my breath. Lucretia is fuckin rad. Ahhh. It’s finally over. 2/5.

That artwork is sick. Kinda gets repetitive if you dont have an ear for it. Five magics was my favorite. Made me feel like I was playing DND in the 80s. Hangar 18 is pretty bangin too though. I'm trying to think where else I would like to listen to this at. And I think my answer is at a monster truck rally

Definitely more melodic than I expected for a thrash metal album. I can see it being great if you were into the genre but most of it didn’t do much for me. 4/10

There's a reason hair metal died.

I had to go back and check but apparently there were multiple songs on this album. They fit all the notes in though — all of them.

Definitely not my cup of tea. I can see how some would enjoy this album but I didn't care for the wailing guitars and doomsday lyrics

Megadeath? Wouldn’t of imagined it would be on the list. OK nothing special

I listened to this album in the 90s in high school when I was really into heavy metal and I wasn’t a huge fan. Not much has changed.

I get why people love this, but I just can’t get into it.

Not much of a fan of this one. Don't like the vocals.

Meh. Didn’t do anything for me.

Lol, I wasn’t feeling this.

It’s alright

Not my cup of tea but you can appreciate the musicianship.

So many people at school wore these shirts. I can appreciate the mastery of the guitar neck but this isn't something I really enjoy

Screaming, thrashing guitars, driving percussion and growling vocals, I get it, I appreciate why people dig it, I just don't like it.

Not for me

Don't get it - feels like a token entry - but a lot of them do

Intro that doesn't got three test of the song. Check. Crunchy riff. Check. Shredding solo that shows technical versatility but detracts from the song. Check. Repeat ad nauseum. Two stars for the riffs but this is very boring.

The instrumentation is exceptional, but the vocals really don’t fit. Also, Dave Mustaine is a disappointing human being.

mmmmmmmm bit loud I feel old

Metal is not my genre and this album does nothing to change that. It sounds very cliche to me and is largely in distinguishable from most of the other metal albums from that are. I respect their place in music history and acknowledge that there are intricacies that I might not get, but I don't find it particularly enjoyable.

Feels quite dated to me - religion and holy war plus nuclear armageddon is so eighties... I can appreciate that it's technically really good, and well put together, but it doesn't grip me at all. Lyrics are a bit too cheesy, and it doesn't quite work for me. Not unpleasant to listen to, but not one I'll ever go back to. 2/5.

No thanks. Not a fan of this kind of music really

Quite the instrument heavy album. Didn’t really enjoy this one too much as it was just high speed guitar and drums one song after another. Similar to Iron Maiden but they at least have decent singing and some songs are catchy. Megadeth seems more like a purist band for those that just like thrash metal. 4.3/10

Classic metal. Enjoyed the electric guitar. Buzzing it wasn't screamo. Holy wars and Tornado of souls both made it into a personal playlist. Not an album I will be running back to.

Much better than expected. Still not really what I like to listen to, but I can see how it would be loved by metalheads! 2.5/5

Not my taste. Conscience of the early connection with Metallica. Easier to hear lyrics, but more irritating voice than Hetfield. Less “noise” so guitar soloing is a little clearer, but not that enjoyable.

Ei sytyttäny. Muistelen kuulleeni parempaaki Megadethii

Very samey sounding songs, but it might be a genre thing and not something to do with this album. Not really a fan of metal in general so my criticism might not bet entirely valid.

Just not for me at all

This is just video game boss music, so unless I'm fighting an immortal demon king, I don't really care

Heavy, clean, precise, just not for me.

I think it's safe to say that I just don't like metal. I can enjoy small bits, but I mostly can't get myself to enjoy it. I also don't like the style of singing that metal sometimes uses. I feel like I'm being held at gunpoint. Highlights: Holy Wars... The Punishment Due, Five Magics

Riffs potentes, mas o vocal não agrada.

- pop fan here - i listened to this so I can see whats going on - sounds very skillful - sorry, cant stop laughing about the whole concept, like how the band is called MEGAdeath or how to album cover looks, or the pun RUST in peace - going back now to listen to beatles

I expected a band called Mega Death to be a hell of a lot darker than this. its such a good name for a band, but it feels a bit of a lie. Mega-stonewashed would probably fit better. maybe mega-real-ale. i mean there's not much dethy about this.

not my vibe.

Okay. Worst part is easily the vocals but I seldom like metal vocals.

Megadeth should slap but Dave's voice is just not good. It's not terrible enough to ruin the listen but I think it's a big reason why I don't revisit Megadeath a lot.

Just poor, with bad lyrics and a sad attempt at political commentary.

Wish she was iron maiden

All sounds kinda samey to me. Something I’ve never clicked with.

I respect the musicianship here and face-melting guitars But, this death metal stuff is just not my thing. However, this is like 100000000 times better than those Sepultura albums that kept coming up. This is more Metallica than Sepultura. They appear to have an alien conspiracy fixation, which is weird. Anyway, this is not my genre.

If 11 year old boys who've just learned how to play power chords on the guitar dreamed up the coolest most "ROCK" guitar sound, they'd likely come up with this. For anyone outside that demographic, it's corny as a corn field

Not for me

This is the sort of metal that put me off metal. Technically SO tight and fast, but the reedy vocals and blandness prevents me from loving it

Again, I understand why it is on this list, but it is definitely not my taste.

Maybe it was too early in the morning for this type of music?

It gets a little boring and repetitive by the end

That was a struggle

Ps. Mulla taitaa olla tää orkkisvinyyli hyllyssä jonka sain yhden vanhan baarin omistajalta kaljakaapin päältä, jossa se oli säilyttänyt äänilevyjään jotain 15 vuotta

Ihan siistejä tilutuksia, muuten ei kauheesti iske tekstit eikä meno muuten. Tornado of Soulsissa hyvä riffi. 2/5.

Didn’t really get into it. Megadeath’s singer and metal sound aren’t for me.

They seem like the generic version of Metallica. Album was ok but no real stand outs. It was like they were following a script on how to make Metal.

Joah. Amtliches Gethrashe, wa?!

Good tones and melodies... kinda catchy.... but cringy lyrics. too basic.

Fantastic opening track but everything else sounds exactly the same to me

Whew. Okay, so definitely better than Anthrax. Better sound, drums, and vocals. A little more variety of sound. I'm still not into thrash--and I'm trying! I like punk! But it's a no from me, dawg.

Although I can appreciate the skill required for these musicians to perform this music, it is not an album that I want to sit back and listen to. The variation in tempos and melodies was nice, but I am not in love with the album…I don’t think that we can even be friends.

Are they trying to be silly? This isn't funny enough for me to believe they're not earnest but ... The songs I _almost_ liked were Breakpoint and, I can't believe I'm about to type these words, Tornado of Souls. But I've had enough metal for a while. Could we please have some Indigo Girls or Barbra Streisand or, as a friend of mine once said, "some goddamned Dolly Parton?"

Not for me. Metallica yea, megadeth nah

Albums like this can be difficult. You really have to be in the right mood. I'd say for the genre, it was quite good and better than expected. I'd enjoy hearing it again sometime when the mood is right. For me just 2/5 for now though.

Not that it is bad per se. But, like, Masters of Puppets covered this territory almost a decade earlier. Underwhelmed.

The Kansas City Royals enjoyed their first 25 years of existence as one of the model Major League Baseball franchises. They won 2 pennants and a World Series, and never finished in last place. Then around 1996, the franchise reversed course and spent a good 15 years as an embarrassment. They tried all sorts of gimmicks to still maintain fan interest they hoped would somehow remove the stench of the lackluster product on the field. The added black to their uniform color scheme for a few forgettable years. And most notably, they finally decided the team needed a mascot: A lion wearing a crown named Sluggerrr. This is really a long way to say if the team was any good, they wouldn't need to create an embarrassing mascot with unnecessary R:s in its name. The same goes for music bands. If the music is any good, it wouldn't need to create a mascot. It turns out Megadeth has a mascot, one prominently on display of this album and most of their other work. Apparently the mascot even shows up during concerts. What the mascot really tells us is that the music is not enough. It's a mask alright. But I can't completely dismiss this due to the fact that thrash metal doesn't appeal to me. There's a ton of metal and hard rock that clearly does speak to me. This just doesn't, but I can still see where there's a certain sector that proclaims this is the best thrash metal album of all time, or at least enjoys it. It was rough sledding for this author, but I found parts I could appreciate and save it from the 1 bin. It's fine for representing whatever thrash metal or guitar masterbation is. I'll also give the album artwork credit for telling me everything I need to know.

Not a genre I listen to or have any real knowledge of - so I will be neutral on this.

I really don't enjoy plain ol' metal on it's own.

not the best old school metal. gimme some slayerrrr!!!

Rock again.... let's see... Not a big fan but Dawn Patrol is good

eh a 2

I instantly deflated when I saw the album was another metal band. It is so not my thing. But I am trying to stay open minded to things in 2021 so I gave it a shot while I ran. Still not my thing but it was ok for running. I didn’t get any kind of feeling when listening to it.

Metal meh

Had this on a very very low volume. nuff said

Pretty decent, just very repetitive.

It's fine- just not my style

I didn't get much from this. It wasn't completely awful but just not of interest to me. I appreciate that people really like death metal and I can understand why but I just don't want to listen to it.

Thrash is just one of those genres I'll never get into

I would like Megadeth at least twice as much if it weren't for Mustaine's voice which just makes me want to punch him. Musically this is great, in fact it seems a little less annoying than it was at time of release, I wonder if the remaster turned down the vocal tracks in the mix. Seriously, you know some people have a face you want to punch, he has a voice that does the same thing.

Better than most other metal, but still not my cup of tea.

not my jam, not bad though

Not really my cup of tea, but I didnt hate it at all. I guess im just not really that into Metal (other than early Black Sabbath).

Pretty bad. The voice of the singer made me want to hit him.

cldnt do it today not my style

Not for me thanks

Terrible album but very standard metal.

Why would this exist on here?

Ak by tento štýl hudby neexistoval, vôbec by mi to nevadilo.

Not my kind of rock and roll

Every singer can be a guitarist but not every guitarist can be a singer

This was a test of indurance. I just about passed. Shit to the core.

Couldn't listen to it, it was a bit too much for me

Knew I wouldn’t like it, and I was right. Thrash Metal just makes me angry and anxious- who the hell wants that?

It's Megadeth. It was always going to be a 1. A few albums have some solid guitar work, but nothing can lift this album any higher. Best song: Five Magics

Not my style

Not for me
