Classic, great first choice for me to start this experiment.
Superb. I probably wouldn’t have appreciated it in 1981, but regret not listening to this sooner.
Not for me I guess. Reminded me of CCR and Tom Petty but not as good.
Excellent
Didn’t age that well. Comes off kinda corny in 2023. This most surprising thing was that it was an R&B record with a few rap songs too. Can’t deny the cultural significance of the record though
Not bad. About what I expected, a folkier version of Band of Horses, who are my favorite of the Neil Young rehashes of that timeframe popularized by My Morning Jacket
Very good. Still a voice I am not a fan of, but the songwriting is undeniable
One of my favorite bands.
Very good, kicking myself for not listening to it before.
Really good punk record. Not really what I expected.
Pretty good, some unexpected experimental sounds.
Another classic
Very good
One of my all time favorite albums
Had some moments, but seemed kind of bland
Pretty good
Very good early new wave is how I would describe them
Keyboard heavy Van Halen but still a classic
Good record
Good record, can definitely hear the beginnings of industrial metal
It was pretty good, nothing ground breaking, but definitely a solid record.
Juana’s Addiction
Classic
Solid record
Solid record for later day Bowie
Pretty good
I liked it. It was someone I’d never heard of.
Meh
I can see how this would be influential, but not something I’m gonna ever listen to again
Very good
Good but dated
Still holds up and the amount of n words is still shocking.
About what I expected, not bad but not my cup of tea
Full of classics
Not a fan of 80s synth heavy prog rock.
All this time I thought I hated Steely Dan. Turns out they’re very good
Super weird and super catchy.
Quite good
God bless the Bomb Squad. Better than I remember, but no “Nation of Millions”
I know Biggie is supposed to be one of the greatest, but he’s too misogynistic and derivative to me. Didn’t compare well with Public Enemy either who preceded this choice.
Not as strong overall as I remembered.
Enjoyed it a lot
Never even heard of these guys and US Spotify is missing a lot of the original album tracks but did have most of the bonus tracks. Pretty heavy for 1967.
Pretty good but nothing special to my ears
Hadn’t heard of this band despite them being pretty modern.
Solid record
Not my favorite Depeche Mode record, but still quite good
Not bad. Jazz just doesn’t do it for me I guess
Never got into Air and never saw the movie, but I bet this was the perfect soundtrack. Makes me want to watch the movie.
Meh
I always wanted to like Massive Attack more than I actually do.
Strong record, great for rainy days like yesterday was for me
Didn’t like it
Didn’t like it.
Foundational record for sure
One of my favorites
A little too “challenging” for me to get into with only 1 or 2 listens
I never really “Brass in my pocket”, but this was pretty darn good
Really good
Classic collection of Christmas staples, pity about Phil Spector’s name being attached though
Would be higher rated if Dave’s voice didn’t bug me so much
Nothing special to my ears, but not my cup of tea
Most of the tracks on the album aren’t available on US Spotify
I knew I didn’t like Steely Dan…
So many songs
