Another group and album that I never dove into. Wow. An auditory fractal that pays homage to the best of synthesizer based dance music through out the ages. While getting your booty shaking, the lyrics pack an emotional whollop.

Love LCD! Great album...

The year is 2007. It's summer. I also just turned 21, and had just started my first “grown up” job. I had said “nah” to society’s expectation that I go to college, and went to the arctic instead. You could either find me at work, the Legion, or outside on the tundra in front of a bonfire. It was a glorious summer spent with friends outside, making memories, and listening to music. All the music I listened to that summer still gets me hyped for a fun summer evening spent under the midnight sun with friends, nothing but life and years in front of us. Except I wasn’t listening to this album, because I was dumb. What a mistake.

This is what I'm talkin' about. Easy 5. Crazy to me that after hearing Losing My Edge for the first time, I was totally off James Murphy as an artist, but then I heard All My Friends and I've been a fan ever since. Standouts: Get Innoucuous!, Time to Get Away, North American Scum, All My Friends, Us V Them, Watch the Tapes, New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down

The album that got me into them

10/10 loved the other LCD Soundsystem albums I’ve heard he’s a very talented guy 👍

James murphy ohjaa tunteita kokonaisuuksilla - ensimmäinen kappale alkaa uskomattomasti, loppuu pelottavasti kokonaisuus hallitaan "koottamuudella" albumiin; vain murphy rakentaa tälläisiä palapelejä, me saamme tyytyä ulottuvuudessamme vain tarkasteluun. Kun muutaman ensimmäisen biisin jälkeen ameriikka aksentti iskee päähän laittavat pojat soivaan ironisesti north american scum.. Tartte ameriikkalaisia heti syyttävällä sormella... Sydämmellinen ja nerokas elektroklassikko.....

Every time I listen to LCD Soundsystem, I think "I should listen to LCD soundsystem more". As a lover of snowboard film soundtracks from around 2010, I love this vibe.

Toe-tapper after toe-tapper on this album. Originality was something sorely lacking at this point in music history but LCD Soundsystem tapped into something very unique to create “nu-disco” and this album is a pure celebration of this fact. The best songs they would ever write including the soaring “All My Friends”. That song alone would merit 5 stars to be quite frank. Incredible album.

This was a great album, a wonderful blend of rock and electronic, funky and emotional. Some really great tracks here and just a great journey throughout! Favourite: All My Friends

It's almost as if LCD Soundsystem is custom tailored specifically for my musical taste. His influences are impeccable and he brings them together in such a way that makes it seem fresh. I think it largely has to do with his more down to earth, at times even vulnerable, lyrics and vocal delivery. Perfect balance of electronic and human elements with just the right amount of humor thrown in. Love pretty much everything about his approach and never get tired of it. If there were only one band we could use as a model for what we are doing musically, this would be it for me.

fuzzy, danceable, goovy, eletronic, funny, james murphy playing in my basement

This for me is a 5. I love lcd, I love this album. All my friends is my favorite song of all time, I love it so so so much and whenever I hear it I have so many emotions pop up. It has been with me for so many years and seeing them live was so cool and incredible and hearing my favorite song live was spectacular. I was ironically by myself listening to all my friends. The top songs from this are all my friends, someone great, new york I love you but you're bringing me down, but they're all great. the backstory of this album is so interesting. I just love everything about it. They're def not for everyone but I think if people gave them a fair chance they would actually enjoy their music. always 5 minutes and up which is actually kind of great considering all my friends is 7 minutes long and I never want it to end. it's a good move to pick a favorite song that's really long. happy to listen to my favs.

Listening to this is like wearing a weighted blanket (insert heart). Reminds me of my peak NYC living years. Struck by how much "NY, I Love You But You Are Bringing Me Down" reminds me of Violent Femmes this time around. Favorite tracks this listen: "Time to Get Away" & "All My Friends".

I was really excited when this album came up. I listened to it a lot when it debuted and have a lot of great memories of it being on when hanging out with friends. The first 3 LCD albums are all superb but if I had to choose a fav, this is it.

Great album with a lot of classic LCD tunes

Two wrongs don't make a right, but two negatives equal a positive ... (?) This is one of those albums that I should absolutely hate and for some reason I cannot explain, I absolutely love. The repetition, the fake-ass drum machines the doink! doink! doinks... should drive me crazy but I keep coming back to this album and all of LCDS work. The only thing I have to explain this is the underlying bitter tone and sarcasm of James Murphy. That paired along the mostly no frills pseudo-80's electronica acts a double negative. Best tracks, North American Scum, New York, I Love You, Get Innocuous!, Someone Great. Actually this whole album is great and should be required for anyone doing multiplication with two negatives.

This album makes me want to dance, shimmy, and shake. All My Friends is a magnificent song. I love the repeated synthesizer part that drives throughout the song. I sincerely hope this part is on a digital loop for live shows and that there isn’t somebody that has to play that same repeating notes for 7+ minutes. I could nitpick a couple things like 8 1/2 minutes being too long for Us V Them and a couple funky cowbell-like sounds, but I won’t. This electro-pop, sometimes bordering on trance-pop, sound is remarkable. Now let’s dance!

This was long overdue for a relisten, I REALLY liked this album. The title track, "North American Scum," "Watch the Tapes," and "All My Friends" were my faves.

I said a few weeks ago on this list that The Suburbs by Arcade Fire was the definitive millennial rock album. After listening to Sound of Silver today maybe 3 times I don’t think I was wrong, but I really had to give my statement some thought. I had known most of the big LCD Soundsystem songs but had never listened to any of their albums all the way through. I think I had also maybe seriously started listening to them in 2010 when they were wrapping up the band for the first time. This was such a triumph to listen to. Starts strong, doesn’t ever lose steam and is the rare album that saves its strongest song for the end. I’m not into dance or electronic music (although have dug some of the records on this list) but this just transcends a bunch of genres into its own thing. It has the elements of scrappy garage rock that make it so exciting and immediate, and the the repetition of rave and dance that just puts you in a higher state of being. This is the music of being a young dirtbag in the city, living away from home for the first time and feeling invincible before your back starts hurting. Amazing supplemental material to this album: the Franz Ferdinand cover of All My Friends is so good. Amazing song for Franz. In addition: the video on YouTube of New York I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down with Kermit singing. Seemingly the official video? I would give 6 stars if I could.

I absolutely loved this. A dance party the whole time and the perfect thing to blast when you’re ready to move.

Beste Album van LCD, samen met american dream; iets meer dance, maar zo cool en gelaagd.

6/24/2022 - ALBUM #148 Today's Album: "Sound Of Silver" by LCD Soundsystem - This album is freaking phenomenal. I had been exposed to LCD Soundsystem in the past, through their follow up to this project, This Is Happening, and they quickly became one of my favorites pop outfits. The mastery of control over sound was immediately noticable from that record, and I'm happy to say they're just as talented in this project than they were on their next, if not even better. In this album, each of the songs are an incredible showcase of the sonic range of this artist. The track Get Innocuous! is a great introduction to the pumping basslines, diligently crafted synth tones, lively drum play, and the frequent auxiliary sounds that keep each bar feeling interesting and fresh. It feels like there was so much intention put into each little section of the track so that even though there are a lot of looping parts, it very rarely feels boring or played out. The vocal performance is also absolutely incredible and the track It's Time to Get Away is a great showcase of this, with these falsetto flourishes that he maintains such solid control over. Another great example is the pretty much perfect track that is, "New York I Love You, but You're Bringing Me Down", which may be one of the best vocal performances I have heard in terms of range alone. It also serves as a fantastic closer for this album, taking the amazing energy from Sound or Silver and taking it down a notch in order to build to a climactic and satisfying conclusion. The track Someone Great also stands out as a really great track, managing to stay entertaining and sound beautiful for a whopping 6.5 minutes. I think the real star of the show for this album, though, is the production. The way that the sounds are mixed makes a listen of this album with headphones an absolutely memorizing experience and each instrument, especially the drums synths, have such perfect effects on them, making the album feel effortlessly enjoyable and like it will be able to be enjoyed for a long time without feeling dated. Overall, this album is just spectacular and mesmorizing. It feels like I could listen to this 1000 times and I would still notice new sounds due to how sonically dense it is. Give this one a listen if you like indie pop, electronic music, or just want something to go crazy dancing to.  Highlights:  Get Innocuous!, Time to Get Away, North American Scum, Someone Great, All My Friends, Us V Them, Watch the Tapes, Sound of Silver, "New York I Love You, but You're Bringing Me Down"  Score:  8.75/10 Absolutely phenomenal electronic indie-pop

I love this album, the driving , dancy rhythms. Always loved 'Someone Great' and 'All My Friends'.

Constantly rhythmic, always evolving, subtly complex. Lyrics that slide between dancefloor anthems and deeper emotional outpours. A complete masterpiece.

I didn't like LCD Soundsystem at the time they released their first three albums. I guess I was still a little too nostalgic for the nineties indie rock sound, and I found their party-driven, four-on-the-floor hits too shallow at first glance. But since those days, I've completely come around on what James Murphy set out to do with this band. Now I understand. Now I can shake my butt on those tracks AND appreciate the overall artistic intent, not to mention the often witty lyrics. Since those days, I've also learned to enjoy many classic albums by David Bowie and Talking Heads, and it's now clear to me why so many people at the time saw Murphy as the heir apparent of those legendary acts. So yeah, that string of three records LCD Soundsystem released during the aughts is part of my current CD collection and I often return to it. And this particular record here is probably the tighter, most effective of the lot. The first five tracks are absolute bangers, a relentless assault of clever sounds, mesmerizing rhythms and hooks, very much of their time, but still timeless. The simple, yet artfully thought-out arrangements on a track such as "Someone Great"--including that charming glockenspiel doubling up the main vocals--are showing how you can be both minimal *and* expansive for that sort of song (its runtime says 6 minutes, but they feel like three, honestly). Side B is more subtle, but it keeps you on your toes for its whole run. Those synth-processed backing vocals in the title track are nothing short of amazing, for example. And formidable closer "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" is both ironic AND moving, which is a combination rarely reached in modern music. So it's easily five stars for me now. As the French say, only fools never change their minds... Number of albums left to review or just listen to: 907 Number of albums from the list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 52 Albums from the list I *might* include in mine later on: 26 Albums from the list I will certainly *not* include in mine (many others are more important): 20

Dakle, ovo je definitivno album koji me uvijek potakne na cupkanje/densanje. Odličan, važan za dance-punk scenu kako nazivaju ovaj žanr. Definitivna devetka.

This album is just brilliant. Every single song takes some kind of irresistible groove and layers the shit out of it with different instruments and hooks. Read all about it

One of the best sounding albums ever

James Murphy is my spirit animal.

Absolutely brilliant. Immediate must buy.

Very nostalgic album, definitely in my personal pantheon. Second half drags a bit, but first half more than earns it.

Iconic electronica

Awesome post-rock. Killer beats, fun lyrics, just an all around banger.

Vicious!

Fantastic album, my 2nd LCD Soundsystem listen on this list and I think this was a bit better than the first, though I also really enjoyed that one. Definitely a band I've been turned onto from this journey, you can tell that there's a perfectionism going into the music but then there's also this "imperfect" element added in mostly through the vocal stylings, but you can tell it's there on purpose. Added a few songs to the playlist from this one.

Simply brilliant, as usual. will be listening again and crossing my fingers for a ticket to the return tour - one of the best live bands I've ever seen

I think my favorite thing about this record is how every song on here feels like it begins with one instrument, and then slowly builds until it's a massive dance party. "North American Scum" is playing through my head whenever I travel abroad, and "All My Friends" is still one of my go-to depressed songs, even if it's somewhat about touring life. I fought against giving this a 5, but I don't really think I have any complaints, so a 5 it gets. Favorite tracks: "Get Innocuous!", "North American Scum", "Someone Great", "All My Friends"

Electrifying album, that ends on an incredibly strong note. One of the best albums from the last 30 years

There are some real gems on this album. My faves are North American Scum, All My Friends, Us V Them, and New York . . .. Thanks to Wiki for letting us know that James Murphy and Tyler Hope both play the fun machine on Us V Them. How can you read that and not want to find out what a fun machine is? For the last LCD-S album sent to us, I waffled between a 4 and 5 and landed on 4. I like this LP at least as much and on this album they play the fun machine.

A classic!

Great electronic musics

a fantastic album from start to finish.l and an album this is pretty close to being perfect. Just brilliantly crafted songs. I can’t see there there being a time when I don’t keep coming back to this.

A great rythmic album that made a cracking start to my day.Except the track "All of my friends" that just made my head ache with confusion of the piano notes.

Once again they demonstrate their absolute mastery of different musical genres. This is so much more than just a "dance/electronic" album. You can party to it and also relax. Just a great, great album. Best Tracks: North American Scum; Someone Great; All My Friends

beast. picture this, its 2007 and there are retarded 20 year olds wearing neon clothing thinking that their piss poor nu-rave scene is a groundbreaking thing and then james murphy comes up with this timeless classic to show them that you can mix dance music and guitar bands without having to murder a 90s classic. i'm looking at you the klaxxons. one of the worst bands to have ever existed.

The Sound of Silver? No sir, this is a gold medal contender if ever I heard one.

Good when good things stop retiring after a couple of years but this was good before that good thing happened

Classic.

Dancey, beautiful, and spunky

The best album from one of the best bands of the last 20 years!

Amazing.

21st May 2021 Listened to this throughout the day during an annoyingly busy Friday (normally dead). All My Friends is one of the greatest songs of the 00s as is this whole album. It's a shame that I got into LCD so late and that I've never seen them live. I hope one day they'll come back.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rock del siglo XXI, progresivo y cañero, electrónico. Para bailar todo el rato. Moderno siempre.

Already

murphy's hitting his stride here. the sophomore effort features less improvisational lyrics and much richer production from S/T. SOS has some of his best songwriting in All My Friends and Someone Great-emotional bangers. and it's still got the dance vibes on Get Innocuous, NA Scum, and Us v Them. overall a remarkably balanced album. i tend to think This Is Happening is the high water mark, but I love this album and appreciate a reason to revisit it.

El más grande disco del record collector rock. Lloré un par de veces, me alcanzó la edad. Mucha nostalgia con esto.

I really liked it. I thought some songs went on a little long especially towards the end like Sound of Silver but they were all good. Some favorites as of now are All My Friends, New York I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down, and North American Scum. Strong 8/10

A modern classic

Excellent, great sounds and tunes

One of my favourite albums of all time. Just perfect from start to finish. All My Friends was a tough listen during lockdown. So many great memories associated with that song in particular.

Pretty much a perfect album

fav tracks: get innocuous!, time to get away, watch the tapes, sound of silver, new york, I love you but you're bringing me down

It’s damn good. 10

guilty as charged

Probably my favorite album of the 2000s. An absolute masterpiece. Kinda like a more electronic Talking Heads. 10/10 1. Us v Them 2. New York I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down 3. All My Friends

Already listened, one of my favourite dance records of all time

Very long songs

mastapeece

Probably the best LCD Soundsystem, at least in terms of consistency. Hard to choose a rating, might give it a 4.5 if I had the option, as it trails off a bit at the end. Even if it's not perfect, it's really up there.

<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 the best

kept surprising me. fun would listen to again

I don’t know that I’ve ever listened to LCD Soundsystem but I was pleasantly surprised! Made for a great album to walk to. Also blown away by how much All My Friends clearly inspired Sex by The 1975. Everything old is new again!

This man loves cowbell!! personal highlights included the 8+ minutes of near non-stop cowbell on Us Vs Them. Besides that, can’t go past the glorious heart of this album: the riotous, sleazy good times of North American Scum, followed immediately by two of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard, Someone Great and All My Friends, brought together for nearly fifteen minutes of transcendental bliss. Just two of the best songs ever made, sitting there together, antgems of 2000s indie but also just powerful all time songs. The melancholy, the build, the little blips and electronic sputters. Incredible incredible incredible. I went straight back to play them both again after the album finished. Without a doubt the pinnacle of LCD Soundsystem’s career. Thank you James Murphy. I’ve sometimes been a skeptic of New York I Love You… but I loved the bombast in the album context. Great closing credits. Sound Of Silver (the song) also had some great moments

Okay I went into this thinking it would be an instant 5 stars because I really do love this album. Lowkey it does slap, of course it does, but maybe not quite as hard as I originally thought? I love the fun art-pop electronic 2007 vibes of it, truly like the best of quite a shaky era. I just don't think it is LCD Soundsystem at their bestttt.. sorry <3 NY I love you is always a tune x

I thought this was a pretty cool album actually. I missed it when it first came out because with the ages of my children at that point, I was listening more to things like The Wiggles and the Dora the Explorer soundtrack. Still, I thought this was edgy and fun, and I definitely heard bits of the Strokes and Cake and Bowie influences. Highly enjoyable four stars for me.

Another album that should go against everything I claim to stand for, but alas, I fucks wit it. Quirky and vibey and unique, and goddamn it "New York, I Love You" is so fucking beautiful. I mean what the fuck. They capture that yearning, broken, tired, privileged-enough-but-like-you-know-it-and-you-accept-it feeling so fucking well. It makes me want to cry. This is not my favorite music but it's an easy 4. Fave tracks: - Get Innocuous! - Time to Get Away - All My Friends - Us V Them - New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down

Someone Great is the best song on here New York is good too

Solid album. A nice variety of songs. For anyone who hasn't seen it, I leave you with this banger from the olden days of youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huEtJw7pfLk

LCD Soundsystem are a 9/10 band with a 9/10 discography. The albums are always phenomenal, but there is always a weaker track among the bunch that slightly dampens the mood. Sound of Silver starts phenomenally and lays out its cards instantly. The influence of Kraftwerk is probably the first thing you'll notice, and the band isn't ashamed of it in the slightest. There are a couple of more obvious infleunces sprinkled along the album, all of them well incorporated into songs that in the end manage to sound fresh and original. The two obvious standouts are the electrifying production and James Murphy himself. He isn't often praised for his vocals, but he should be, because he delivers everything perfectly here. His lyricism is also great and adaptable to both serious and more lightweight songs. While it's an obvious step up from their debut, Sound of Silver remains only my third favourite album from the band (I predict some disagreement here, but I love American Dream much more than the average person). The stretch between Us V Them and the title track is probably my least favourite in their discography, which is a bit crazy to say because all of these tracks are pretty solid. However, the highlights of Sound of Silver are among their best ever tracks, so it all evens out. Favourite track: All My Friends

8/10 Mix one cup of Talking Heads, one cup of Kraftwerk, a tablespoon of 2000s indie and a pinch of disco and a soupçon of punk, and what do you get? LCD Soundsystem. This is an album that I know reasonably well, but not one that I come back to all that often, so I was pleased to be able to give it the thorough listening that this process demands. As someone who finds that endless repetition can very easily become incredibly boring, I was very pleased to hear that, for the most part, LCD Soundsystem do an absolutely excellent job of avoiding that pitfall. Their arrangements and layering of elements ensure that there is a near constant movement to their tracks, even when superficially, there isn’t significant obvious change to the patterns. They also manage to play and programme rhythms that manage to successfully fall into the “hypnotic groove” slot that is so successfully handled by artists such as Kraftwerk and Fela Kuti. There is repetition, but it feels alive and exciting all the same. For me, that blend of beat making and synths with new wave, post-punk influences is where the band really excel, with the opening three tracks being real highlights in that regard. When they lean a little more into the indie-rock sound through the middle of the record, there is still great quality in there, but it doesn’t quite manage to connect with me in the same way and starts to feel like it lacks a little of the unique LCD Soundsystem sound that their best work delivers. Fortunately, they manage to pull things back around for the final three tracks, which anchor us fully back into the world that the openers built. There is a solid, hooky melodic sensibility present across the record, and their sense of groove is of a really high standard, but they also prove themselves capable of moments of real emotion, bite and swagger, all of which contributes to an album that feels stylistically coherent, but broad enough to offer a good range of experiences through its runtime. If I was to be a touch critical, I think that they could probably have truncated a few of the tracks a little, which may have improved my experience through the slight lull in the albums centre, but otherwise, this is a really solid record that I’m glad to have spent a bit more time with. Get innocuous! - There’s something of an edge of Talking Heads about this. It manages that trick of being repetitive, but maintaining enough variety within its arrangement to maintain a sense of direction and not become too boring. There’s a hypnotic edge to it and it’s got a cool, slightly robotic, Kraftwerk style swagger to it too. A strong opener. Time To Get Away - There’s more of that cool swagger again here. The drums and percussion are carefully distributed and layered to build a groove that shifts while maintaining a consistent pulse. It’s interesting how simple all of the parts are, but the arrangement is where they get given life, which is admirable song construction. North American Scum - The groove between the bass and drums here is really compelling and has great feel. Again, the use of different layers in each verse as the song progresses give this more range than one might initially expect. The chorus is a great hook, even if the vocal is a touch shrill, and sits as a nice contrast to the rolling verses. I’d say the verses are perhaps a touch long, but it’s a minor quibble on an otherwise quality, punky cut. Someone Great - Another quality, layered groove now and that staccato synth lead is really nice. The vocal sections here are a bit too bland, unfortunately, and the vocal melody is a bit boring and repetitive. I’m not in love with the doubling of that melody with the glockenspiel either. There’s some great stuff in here, but it’s the first track that doesn’t full connect for me, and feels a bit flat. All My Friends - This takes a while to get going, and it reminds me of The Killers a bit. It does develop as it rolls along, but it doesn’t have the deftness of arrangement of the first three tracks. This one is more about the narrative of the vocal really, and it’s not bad, it’s just a bit too one-dimensional, perhaps because the developments are subtle and all within a more limited dynamic. It goes on for way too long too. US V Them - It feels like we’re back to the more interesting type of arrangement now, and there’s some nice dynamic ebb and flow here too. I think they’re more interesting when they lean towards electro funk, rather than indie and while there is repetition here, it’s more cleverly layered and structured to create a pulsing, shifting, hypnotic groove that sucks you in and flows around you. This is a touch on the long side, and probably could do without the more repetitive stuff towards the end. Watch The Tapes - This has a cool, driven, front-foot groove to it. The main riff is great and there’s some excellent drumming in here too. There’s not as much clever layering, but it’s not needed as much for a sub 4 minute track. It’s cool, swaggering and has a nice, slightly punky attitude to it. Sound Of Silver - Back again to the more hypnotic, Kraftwerk edged electronic grooves now. The layering of drums and percussion is pretty good here and there are some nice subtle shifts in there, particularly from the synthesised percussion. It’s a nice, chilled vibe, and I’m getting into the sound design here quite a bit. The vocal parts add a bit of extra range, but feel less core to the track than the evolving synth work, which is restrained and delicately balanced, but very effective. Great track. New York, I Love You But You’re Bringing Me Down - A sombre, stripped back effort now that weaves in tiny touches of hope here and there really effectively. It builds in weight as it goes and then punches in aggressively just after the mid-point. There’s great dynamic and tonal change to this one as it goes and the two sides of those changes sit really well against one another. It’s not as layered as other tracks, but offers enough emotion and range to succeed on its own terms.

Another album/band that I’m sorry I missed when it came out. Really enjoyed it!

Very enjoyable. Enough to listen to multiple times and to be intrigued enough about to want to dig about in their back catalogue. Lots of stuff going on here and well worth a listen.

Punk and Funk

disco para acompañar una tarde de lluvia sin hacer nada, parece dance pero muy melancólico, buenas variaciones de ritmo, se siente como el punk de los 80 con toques de modernidad.

such a funky typp beat that i enjoyed

great album for walking around the city/ partying with friends... horrible for doing boring desk work-- I'm so stressed lol

Found on this album journey that i like this sort of music. Really enjoy the beat. Im hearing Snow Patrol especially the singing. Also The Killers.

Great. I am definitely the target audience 😆

refreshing, experimental and skilled

A refreshing surprise. They are quirky, raw, and daring with their electronic rock mix. The rough edges make it an interesting journey and while they add a lot changes during the tracks, it doesn't feel like it's too much or too little.

On first listen, I quickly wanted to dismiss this as "not for me". But somehow, it called me back for a second listen, during which I realized I liked many aspects of this blend of dance and post-punk, especially the repetitiveness and the driving feeling that somehow felt Krautrock-inspired. Also, great instrumentation that differs from track to track, incl. bonus points for cool use of cowbell. Highlights for me were "Get Innocuous", "Us v. Them" and the title track. Unfortunately, not all tracks are that good and the voice remains a weak point. Will surely revisit and take a dive into their discography. 3.5/5 - strong

I wanted to be more sore about this but naw it’s great. So many wonderful songs. So many that have become anthemic for my generation. Important album for us newly old people.

Another great album by one of my favorite bands. So danceable and just amazing synths and beats. If I didn’t have a favorite album by this band it would be a 5 but it is so very close

The radio singles are still great, but the repiditive parts detract

One of the first real surprises for me. I have never given lcd sound system any time cause I figured they were not my thing. It was really enjoyable and I will listen again.

A great surprise! A very listenable and fun album. Lots of cool grooves and a bit of experimentation. I look forward to exploring the rest of LCDSS’s catalog.

Some real bangers on here (especially North American Scum). Really solid album.

Personal enjoyment: 4/5 Relevance to this list: 4/5

I liked this a lot. Categorized as electronic music in my music service, so I did not expect to like it. It was far more punk (dance punk) than electronic music- though there was some electronic. Definitely heard some Bowie influence. Great!

Great songs, enjoyable to listen to and recognize songs I didn't know was from this album

One of the greatest alt dance records of all time.

It's been quite a while since I have listened to this album in its entirety. However, I've seen most of this material live on multiple occasions far more recently. This is a really good record. It builds on the strengths of the first album and brings in more sophisticated arrangements and stronger songwriting. Murphy's vocals also have a lot more range and the amount of deadpan irony that defines the first album is reduced. The first record is quite good, but often feels a bit like a novelty product. This is no longer the case for this record. It often feels like a version of Suicide that listened to disco rather than rock and roll and had more money for instruments and techology. (LCD Soundsystem really doesn't hide its influences and a more extensive review would probably bring in a lot more names, but I think that this doesn't detract from the band producing its own sound.) The unfolding textures and patterns used to build the songs is really hypnotic and the length of the songs feel warranted. That description doesn't apply to the entire record and songs like"Someone Great" and "All My Friends" bring in more sentiment and conventional song writing to the mix. However, I'm just not a bit fan of "New York, I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down." It's definitely a fan favorite and frequently is show closer, but I think I would like the record more without. I guess I'm just not interested in a LCD Soundsystem ballad.

⭐⭐⭐⭐ Svårdefinierad genre. Funkig, rockig elektronika. Bäst är Get Innocuous!, Time to get away, North American scum, Someone great, New your I love you but you're bringing me down

Great album.

Lots of throwback retro styles in play but done very well, the addition of cowbells is a treat. Slick and cohesive sounds.

Almost a 5

The self titled is better but you can’t really complain. It’s still some of the best indie dance music of the aughts

I enjoyed this one a lot. It’s dance but without the annoying repetitive beats. Instead it has intricate percussion and a quirky, spastic voice.

‘New York I love you but your bringing me down’ was on EVERY mix I made in ‘07/‘08. It’s a great song! But I still didn’t know the rest of the album well. Most of this album is solid- North American Scum and Someone is Great are stand outs. Bowie, Lou Reed, Talking Heads… I hear them all in the best of LCD. But I didn’t love the first LCD album we had on this list- even though it had some of my fave LCD songs on it- Call the Police and American Dream. Of Apple Music’s top 10 LCD songs 5 different albums are represented… ranging from ‘02-‘10. So I guess that makes them something of a greatest hits band for me… but where I pick the “hits”.

An album that is more interesting, the more I listen to it. This album pushes my negative "repetitive" buttons, but has heart, depth and meaning that engage my brain and triggers my "Spidey sense" for great music. All My Friends is a staggering high point and the view from there is epic. The final songs aren't quite as good, though. 9/10 with half a point off for repetitiveness.

one of those album everyone yaps about loving and i'm finally checking it out. yea its worth the hype shit got me dancing in my room good shit

De er gode

A very pleasant surprise!

LCD Soundsystem has a very unique sound that is fun to come back to from time to time. I hadn't heard this album before but it's instantly recognizable.

Hits like a guerrilla radio signal of the best party you've never been invited to.

9 / 10

Was looking forward to this one, as it's been a minute since I've listened to it. Assumed a 5, but landed on a 4. Not as epic as I remembered throughout the album.

I wondered if this was electronica. I looked it up, and it's apparently called indietronica? I started out thinking this was not my favorite example of this style, but the longer the album went on, the more I got into it. It's not changing my life, or the world, but I enjoyed!

Loved the instruments on this! Really cool sounds all in all

Title track is a little overly long imo but overall very very good! The sound is so dynamic and I felt an actual connection to the tracks

lmao nice. i’ve heard this one before, a couple times. i really like someone great. crazy, but all my friends is the worst song on this album. it’s not a bad song, but it goes to show the quality on this. i just don’t really care for the instrumental on that one as much as the rest.

best GTA 4 song on here

I didn’t think I would like it but it grew on me. Cool lyrics

Nice palette cleanse of an album. Catchy tunes and fun lyrics that remind me of The Flight of the Concords (only much better musically). A breath of fresh air in a list that can feel overburdened with edgy experimental albums.

Particular to my taste of long looping electronic/ instrumentals that progress through multiple phases. There's enough variety in the differences that I found myself really getting into the flow on most tracks. It feels like important moments are happening in my life with music like this, especially on All My Friends. Really liked everything on the album up until Watch the Tapes and beyond, then it became only a bit less good.

First time listening to them and didn’t know what to expect. I liked it!

First listen, but I was really drawn into the tracks. I think overall, they tend to be a bit too long and there is not a lot of variety, but I enjoy the drive of this album. Us V Them, New York, and especially North American Scum really stood out. Starts at a 3.5 for me, but might rise.

This album doesn't have any of my, like, top 5 songs by these guys, but it's still awesome, if a bit repetitive.

I like this album quite a bit. I hadn't heard it until a couple years ago when it showed up on a book club music list, but it's become part of my regular rotation. It's not a 5, but pretty close.

The three song group from North American Scum to All My Friends is his high point. Love NY too. There are too many forgettable songs on the back half to climb the mountain.

At a certain time it was hard to miss LCD Soundsystem. Their music was a constant at indie club nights in the earlier part of the 2000s, and while they were never a band that I got really into, listening to this brings me back a lot of sweaty and half-forgotten nights. Listening to it now, I enjoy it, but also I get the feeling that James Murphy never really managed to surpass his record collection. The thing is, it’s a really good record collection. And so this album is referencing a lot of good music: listening to it I can pick out bits of David Byrne and the Talking Heads, some The Fall, Joy Division/New Order, David Bowie (of course) and it all works and comes together as dance music with a heavy post-punk bend, but it never feels like it becomes that much more than its influences either.

I Love LCD Soundsystem. Their discography is super solid and this album is an integral part of it. It contains some, well, perfect songs. Someone Great, All My Friends, New York, I Love you But you're..., all absolutely perfect songs. The narrative of growing up is strong and makes it a bit of a sad listening experience, I found out yesterday. While it's a great record that I even own in vinyl form, it's not perfect in my opinion,  and maybe my least favorite of their incredible three album run. There's some drop, I think, on tracks 6 and 7,which are on as great as the masterpieces before. Saying that, it's still a fantastic album, masterfully produced, full of heart and commitment. All the great influences are there, from electronic music to Bowie's Berlin era and Talking Heads. James vocals are some of his best ever. Yeah, it's just fucking great. A high 4. Not far from 5 at all.

I really thought that I'd hate this, probably because it wasn't really what I was expecting at all. I thought that LCD Soundsystem was more of a rock band than a dance band with some rock influences. To my surprise I really liked this.

Amazing! LCD is being put as a major player in the industry.

have listened before. a little overrated i think, still love it to death. hits all the emotional beats and it's a hell of a dance record. All My Friends is a stunner

Still love my “LCD Soundsystem - Last Show Ever” t-shirt.

LCD Soundsystem! One of those albums I'm excited to listen to before the first track plays. It was a good listen too! I think I saved 3 songs. Honestly, I want to go and listen to more of their albums now. Was in phenom? No, but still a good time.

Outstanding album, you have to lift yourself from repetitive to hypnotic with this genre and they nail it on most of these songs. 4 to 4.5

This is an album of fun, light bops putting modern twists on pop/punk of the 80's. Are the songs a little long and repetitive? Sure, but such is the nature of electro-dance rock, and there's just enough change-up in the backing track to keep you hooked. Better than I remember

I don't even know what these guys are up to but I'm liking it.

Kinda gives me a more electronic focused talking heads kinda vibe. Digging it!

Notables: - Someone Great - New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down

An album that feels like, instead of being from the 07, it feels like a very avant-garde album from the 90s, this is a good thing. It can feel a bit repetitive at times, but overall it is a very good album with some solid songs.

I've always thought it was interesting that the two camps of people I always see talking about LCD Soundsystem either think this album and their debut are better, or that This is Happening is better (the objectively right option tbh), and then everyone forgets about American Dream and 45:33. Fair enough, American Dream just sort of came and went and 45:33 isn't even 45 minutes and 33 seconds long. Anyways, it's still a great album. Despite definitely being weaker than This is Happening, it has my favorite song in their whole discography, All My Friends. It's like a Strokes song if they actually knew what reminiscing sounds like. There are a lot of good songs on this album past that, and the whole thing has a great energy to it. I always like music that slowly adds instruments into a beat and let everything build. The closer is always weird to me on this album, though. I like it, but I feel like it doesn't fit well with everything else.

raro pero interesante la verdad, algo bastante nuevo

Yeah I liked this more than expected. Will be back.

super fun electronic album. I wasn’t expecting much and it blew me away. I especially enjoyed the off beat vocals

New Order meets Daft Punk at a Talking Hesds concert as the band walk out to Television. 4 stars

Electronic rock music with enough of a post-punk influence to keep it interesting for me. I especially liked "Someone Great," "All My Friends," and "Us V Them."

J'adore LCD Soundsystem, cet album est top car il enchaîne les sons super bien. L'univers est cohérent et les refrains sont entraînant. Je le réécoute sans souci. New York I love est dans mon top 50 all time facilement !

I liked it very much, specially to listen to while working :D Still, won't be an album I'd buy to own on vinyl, for example.

Unique, danceable and fun

I wasn’t expecting to enjoy this album as much as I did. Like a more mainstream and palatable form of Venetian Snares or Aphex Twin, but one that plays to the strengths of that by injecting a lyricism and beat the previous examples are normally to avant-garde to make a play for. Occupies a respectable niche that I didn’t think needed filling, but glad to see the fort is held by a good representative. Good time had by all.

Not typically my kind of music but this album is pretty good

Feels sooooo nostalgic, so many little quirks and references but enough to toe tap to. Slightly melancholy but with enough of a beat to not be dreary. Some recognisable modern classics in there too.

i was excited to listen to lcd system for the first time and had basically no expectations for what theyd sound like but was still surprised. something was in the water in 2007 i swear ppl were doing such cool and new things... anyways i rly liked it! electronic dance & indie rock combined in a way ive never heard before

liked this more than I thought I would!

As featured in the soundtracks to two equally iconic films: "Greenberg" and "Step Brothers".

Lowkey pulsating.

I quite liked this. It reminded me a little bit of Daft Punk in terms of the music but the lyrics and vocals are great.

I have never listened to this group before. This was great!. I really enjoyed this and found myself listening to this repeatedly after the first listen. I will certainly listen to this again, and would look for other music from this group

James Murphy, the driving force behind LCD Soundsystem, once told journalists, "Writing about us isn't hard... Just use words like 'unlikely frontman,' 'bear-like,' 'unshaven,' 'Talking Heads,' blah blah blah" Indeed, looking at this disheveled man, the last thing you'd think is that he's a key figure in the indie sleaze movement, the 2000s' punk-electronic sound. Yet, it was his debut album that took New York dance floors by storm in 2005. On Sound of Silver, he further refined his style, while also making nods to Kraftwerk and, of course, Talking Heads. This energetic music, which makes you want to run somewhere, is surprisingly combined with lyrics about relationships, thoughts on aging, and the melancholy of the big city — in fact, these are precisely the topics that conversation turns to when the sun breaks on the dance floor.

An electronic album that won me over by the end. There's a lot of personality on here and the lyrics are actually pretty notable given the dance floor inclinations. The music is catchy, but repetitive enough that I was almost ready to just absorb it passively, but the songs kept drawing me back in and even look up the lyrics. The clincher was "New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down" which is stellar. Oh, hello guitars! I wish more of the album had been like this, but I'm not complaining.

I liked this!

Love the electronic sound. North American Scum, Someone Great, and New York I love You but You're Bringing Me Down were my standouts. I'm feeling a 7.6/10.

4.5 this grooves hard, I’m a big LCD Soundsystem fan

There really isn't a bad song on this.

Perhaps unsurpringly, I really liked this one. Strong emotions and vocals, amazing synths and soundscapes. Dragged a little towards the middle, but still a strong album overall.

I really liked this and it has introduced me to an artist that I wasn't familiar with and will listen to more. A great fusion of dance and rock

Blind album, know the artist by name. Very repetitive but also catchy. House vibes. Very intriguing in many ways and kept my attention throughout.

Solid album. Really like someone great & all my friends. 4

So many of y’all’s favorite albums sound the way they do because of lcd soundsystem btw It’s soooooooooooooooo awesome truly

Alright Sound of Silver kind of bumps.

Loved loved loved this album in high school and college. Have since fallen mostly out of love with LCD Soundsystem and their permanently ironic sincerity but Sound of Silver still bumps. This one might be a victim of my own love and overplaying of it, so attached to specific memories that I can't really revisit it & unlike other albums that are saddled with similar baggage, the songwriting doesn't raise it above my own relationship to the songs. Its catchy, the riffs are good, the hooks live deep in my brain but their meaning is two-sided. James Murphy's meaning is there, yeah, and its alternately heartrending and smarmy but then my own memory encodes it with another meaning and I rarely feel that kind of way anymore & even find feeling that way indulgent and gross. And New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down is a skip and always has been!

I grew up with this album so I'm biased but I always thought that this was such a unique and fun dance album. 4/5

Love a bit of punk-funk, so yeah this was good.

reinterpreted low

I liked this a lot more than I thought I would! Beep ba boop

Great album. Great group.

While I love some of the songs here, the album as a whole isn’t a full listen.

All my friends is one of the greatest songs ever written

Definitely has some stand out songs

I can’t really specify why but I liked it more than a 3/5

I loved this album when it came out and it's a time capsule album for me. Favorite songs: All My Friends, Get Innocuous!, Someone Great

ya knowww not all songs need to be 7 minutes

I had never listened to an album by this band. I really dug it. This is what I came here for, will put this on my rotation.

Album #89 LCD Soundsystem: Sound of Silver Why doesn’t All My Friends open the album? It literally starts with the lyrics “That’s how it starts”. When you have a song that good on your album, it almost overshadows the rest (even though the other songs are all great too), therefore it’s best to put it on first, that way we aren’t just waiting for it the whole time. All My Friends is pretty much the modern-day Baba O’Riley, a rock epic with a repetitive piano lick that sets the tone for what's to come. At least The Who recognized that it needed to go on first so that we could enjoy the rest of the tracks without tweaking for a hint of that piano. Would be a 10 if All My Friends opened, but as it stands, the album feels disjointed. Also, less cowbell, please. Best Songs: All My Friends (one of the greatest of all time), Someone Great, New York I Love You, But You’re Bringing Me Down Worst Song: Sound of Silver Score out of 10: 9

Somehow I thought I’d liked it more Still a great album though!

Soft 4.

The music was not as interesting as i wanted it to be, particularly considering this is my genre of choice, but gee the lyrics were clever and fun. 3.7

Super stuff. Full of brilliant dancing bangers.

Have I listened to this album before? No How familiar am I with this album? Unfamiliar How do I feel about this artist? Not a big electronic fan, I’ve seen them on a SNL Favorite song(s)? Time to Get Away, All My Friends, New York I Love You Overall Thoughts: I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. It’s a nice blend of electronic, rock, and alternative. The first song turned me off but it only got better after that.

Really liked the sound, really fun and complex/interesting instrumentals. Occasionally a little overly silly for my taste, but otherwise really enjoyed it.

Really cool vibe. I really enjoyed it

Not one of the most cohesive albums I’ve ever heard, but it wins me over through its sheer number of great songs. Last three songs especially were all complete slappers: the dance punk of “Watch the Tapes” the Kraftwerkian repetition on the title track and the beautiful and completely unique ballad “New York I Love You”

It's great, but I don't know if I would listen to it again. Stand-outs - Someone Great - All My Friends

Good to hear again

Dance-punk, electronic rock, electronica, indie rock, dance-rock, art rock.

I liked this, gonna revisit.

It was good. I haven't listened that before. Something to chill out.

Made me want to dance. Found myself wishing for better vocals though

Light 8

Not sure how I feel about this album. I love the EDM elements, but it skews way too indie. I've heard New York I Love You, and North American Scum and they're good, but All My Friends was just grating. I just heard that same piano chord just being slammed for 8 minutes. There is something about it though, that's endearing. The music part of it is great, but the lyrics and vocals are so amateurish that it feels like a record your hobbyist friend made. That isn't really a negative, but it adds to the relatability of the record. If your friend makes it, it's absolutely insanely good. If a professional musician makes it, it's missing some "professional" quality. Funny how our expectations change. I think that aspect alone has kinda changed how I feel about the album. On more listens, some tracks grow on me as dance tracks, and I still like North American Scum, I think it's just All My Friends that I have a problem with because of the piano part which makes it feel like 8 minutes of hammering a nail into my skull.

Swings wildly from super cool to formulaic. Sometimes you think the whole album's the same song and then you're in the middle of a banging iconic chorus. It was certainly more exciting when you heard them very loud 7 pints down in small indie venues. It's definitely one of the better albums of the era 3.6

Good album! I really enjoyed it!

Really liked this - listened a lot at uni! The vocals break up the beats really well!

EDM with lyrics about the melancholy of getting older.

me encanta este album y le tengo mucho apego, estoy muy sesgada y no me importa

LCD was always more of my brother's band. They're great but they never moved me the way they did him. I still think this is an amazing album filled with wry messages drunkenly mumbled at a bar that should have closed a couple of years ago. Somehow now set to idiosyncratic tunes that border on the theatrical. Did...did I just listen to a musical?

Sound of Silver was a good listen at work, the beats where chill and I enjoyed the album

Teilweise sehr eigenartig, aber mag den Stil. Sound of Silver, All my friends, und NY I love you sind top.

Haha, wusste am Ende nicht woher ich New York i love you but you are bringing me down kenne, aber das Video mit Kermit dem Frog war wohl ein isnichwahr video. Witzig. Angenehm zu hören. 4 Sternchen

Started slow then the North American Scum-Someone Great-All My Friends trifecta hit and turned it up to 11. Fun fact, the working title for Someone Great was All Hail the Glock.

The challenge of EDM music is how to create unique music that can give you a distinct new sound worth listening to. I'd listen to this again.

Fun, minimal Fav: time to get away

Get Innocuous! Time to Get Away North American Scum Someone Great All My Friends Us V Them Watch the Tapes Sound of Silver New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down

Songs are good, style is interesting. 7/10.

Great alternative album no skips, all my friends, sound of silver, and New York, I love you but you’re bringing me down are highlights

Really fun! Saved it

Fuck yeah

DIvertido de escuchar. Puede volverse un poquiiiiiiiiito largo pero es lo de menos, el resto está muy bien. Lindo sonido.

Liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Already knew a couple of the songs, which I was surprised by. There were some moments were it was just too repetitive for me, but overall I really enjoyed it. Crazy to get given this album on the day my partner left for New York for almost a month though. New York you’re definitely bringing me down. Fav song: All My Friends - also liked Someone Great and New York I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down Least fav: Us V Them

Great dancy album. Simple and good

8/10, very niche

great as background music. listened to it on the train and had a grand time

Great ride, my favorite LCD album. Love the energy vibrancy urgency

A fever-dream! It zigs and zags - unpredictable. As soon as I have a grip on reality, it’s gone instantly on the next track. Thats the beauty of it; 56 minutes inside someone else's head.

Art in all forms is the control of energy. Great sculpture feels like actual movement. The best authors can shift gears with just the assemblage words. Music is perhaps the best at truly affecting a room. Whether calming ones or quickening the pulse - there is a direct connection to the mind and body. With beats and words and chords your entire day can be transformed. You can feel the energy whether using Brian's Eno's Neroli in birth wards to provide a background that literally calms mothers and doctors alike, the droning tones of Low or Nick Drake accompanying a view out a window on a rainy day or the undeniable jolt you will feel from Reign in Blood or Dig You Own Hole. No matter how your feeling - or want to feel - the music matters. I am mixed on this LCD album. I like most of it fine but the two song in the middle of the album - Someone Great and All My Friends are uncanny both as songs as well as experiences - in diminished by the almost 20 years since this albums release. They control the energy in different ways with beats and words and chords. You hear them but also feel them. They are certainly the high point of 2007 (apologies to m.i.a.) if not the decade. To be on one album miraculous. They use elements of Eno, Human League/Depeche Mode/Gary Numan and Gang of Four/The Fall to get the point across and for the most part succeed. But the two songs at the center of this truly elevate. 4.5 stars.

This reminds me of New Order's dance-rock aesthetic combined with some indie/garage rock influences here and there. I love the grooves and rhythms. They're putting me in a trance! (I love reading the reviews of other albums here!

I onda dobijem baš pozitivno iznenađenje. Kao i mnogi drugi komentatori ovdje čujem brojne druge utjecaje ali mi nekako opet zvuči inovativno. Nimalo dosadno svakako. Baš dobar zvuk.

I was listening to this while studying for my physics degree that's taking over my life at the moment and for the duration of the album I was able to imagine that I had a much more interesting life than I do. So that was nice. Favourite song: all my friends

Great album with some incredible songs. 7.8/10

I’ll give it a 4 cause I think I like LCD Soundsystem now. Didn’t enjoy it as much as the previous album though. Stand outs - Someone Great, All My Friends and New York I Love You is a great ending

Absolute banger. Peak new york cool Standouts - get innocuous!, north american scum, all my friends, sound of silver And lets be clear that new york i love you but you're bringing me down is the best song ever written ever, ever

Knew I liked this album. N8ce revisiting it. Less predictable and less repetition for repeyitions sake than their orher one. Sounds great with earphones. Dippy egg.

I like this. Can get repetitive though

i listened to it two days ago just randomly and i loved it. 'all my friends' was fun obviously because being funny in a foreign language is my favourite the 1975 album

Not bad. I enjoyed this. I was tempted to save a lot of these songs to my playlist

Try not to bob your head while listening....

Enjoyed it. Remember liking a couple of the songs from this album back in the day.

Not a 10/10 but it has some of the best individual bangers in the entire LCD Soundsystem discography

Not my usual kind of music, but I liked it.

The late 2000s/early 2010s hipster energy is a bit too intense to give this a 5 (unlike other LCD Soundsystem albums where the flannel & beard factor is just perfect)

LCD Soundsytem is a unique group. Fusing electronic dance and indie rock. I guess with everything if it's done well, it will find its audience. Either way, this is a fun listen and I think it's emotional and good. NYILYBYBMD, the last track is one of my all time favorite songs.

Joyous

Excellent album, especially the first half. Almost a fiver.

non mi dispiacciono

Starts and ends on a high note. Some of the tracks though overstay their welcome. Brings me back to being a teenager discovering this for the first time.

north americans--anthem to house parties getting shut down by cops? someone great--love the syncopation us v them--kinda weird sound of silver--lol, fair. what is the sound of silver tho? new york i love you--sad little waltz it's good but not my style. 3.5/5 rounded to 4/5

Hell yeah

Reminds me of cake a lot, I bet Pat would like this. 4 stars since I think I will go back to this

I'm thankful for the dichotomy that this album has. One one hand, the electronic side of this album pushes me away, and on the other James Murphy's vocals and the distinct indie feel of this album had me hooked. It's certainly a couple of songs too long even apart from the genre pieces that don't fit with me, but the handful of big hitters here helps earn this album's place on this list. Probably a 3.5 if I was allowed. New York, I Love You but You’re Bringing Me Down is an all-timer, and I’ve never even been to New York. Edit: Whoops. I severely underestimated how much I enjoyed the top 3 songs here. One week later, and they've all been cycling through my head. I can't put my headset on without listening to them at least once at this point. North American Scum is early on the album, after Time to Get Away almost tees it up. Its baseline absolutely cranks. The first verse is magnetic. It's a fun, funky song, that showcases James Murphy's tongue-in-cheek self-deprecating lyrics that is high energy to the end. All My Friends is a masterpiece. Devastatingly relatable, and wholly engaging, the song grabs you from the very first hits of the piano through it's entirety. It's an anthem about growing old, missing days gone by and friends that have quietly fallen out of touch along the way. It has an argument of being one of the best songs since the turn of the century. This is closer to a 4.5. For sure. Highlight: New York, I Love You but You're Bringing Me Down Lowlight: Get Innocuous! Surprise Hit: All My Friends Surprise Hit #2: North American Scum

96/1001 This one was in several album of the year lists but it still took me a few years to warm up to it. In fact it was their next album that won me over. The music is great. The vocals threw me. Not something I just throw on any old time. 7/10

Interesting album. I didn't know what to make of it. Was it electric, punk, alternative, or what. Very listenable and enjoyable.

4.2/5 Stars Top Songs: Someone Great, Us v Them, Get Innocuous!

Some of the more repetitive electronic songs aren’t for me, but All My Friends and NY I Love You are proper classics.

Bangers

I love All My Friends, so I was very pleased to find some of these tracks are around that level for me. Very close to a 5 star.

Good album. Interesting dance music, with a singing and attitude style that, in a way, makes it sound punky. The weak points on this album are definitely the long songs, because there are long instrumental sections that have one single repetitive beat, that they get tiresome. All in all, a solid 3.5/5

Solid album. 4 stars

I really liked how experimental this album was

What a variety of feels housed in a single album! I have never listened to this band before, so my initial listen felt a little jarring. The album really grew on me though. It was a great blend of electronic and indie and it was perfectly experiemental.

Been a fan of this since 2009

183/1001 LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver Heard before? ✅ Revisit? ✅ I always have a hot/cold relationship with this band and therefore don't listen to them all that often. This is definitely my preferred album of theirs and always pick up something new with each listen.

we love easy listening. probably very influential at the time bc its solid but nothing too crazy, like i'm taking it for granted in 2025. there are today the sounds holds up, sounds like goths listened to it in the late 80s. also i swear there are tracks here that sound like they're straight from another green wrld.

A good groove to this, enjoyable driving album

Gran album de rock alternativo mezclando electrónica, dance, punk… a tener en cuenta y en cada colección privada

Great! Usually not my speed but I’ve always like a few of LCD’s tracks.

Fun, maybe 4.5+? Good music to do something productive to. Would listen to more

This album takes a little while to get going IMHO, but ends in really good shape. Maybe North American Scum is the point at which they move from 'good but unremarkable dance-adjacent indie band' to 'Oh my god it's LCD Soundsystem'. Certainly once you're into Someone Great and All My Friends, you're all the way up, the windows are open and you're loving life. A strong four.

12/16/25. Fun revisit, still holds up really well. Enjoy the danceable vibe, with an all time classic for the last song to close it out. Would recommend this to anyone.

top 3 in disordine: North American Scum Sound of Silver NY, i love you but you’re bringing me down (camera della emma riadattata a studio, luce grigia molto vigontina, sto per andare da forniture ufficio)

I like that this isn't just electronica, but also has many of the elements I love about rock. This did go on for a little bit longer than I would've preferred, but a couple of these songs were good enough to make me forget how long they are.

Absolute banger. I'm partial to post-punk but undoubtedly LCD Soundsystem are one of, if not, the best. The songs themselves feel incredibly stripped back yet still full of energy. Top pick: North American Scum.

I've grown up listening to LCD sound system a bunch, and our local radio KEXP plays them allll the time, so it was fun to hear more of their songs. It's great for studying :] 7/10

High 4.
