Live album with a lot of solos
This was ok, kinda proggy psychedeleic sorta rock. The drum solo was way too long, otherwise it was alright.
When a live album pops up on this project, I get extra critical. I think a live album needs to pack a special punch to make it onto this project, otherwise why include it at all? You're not really able to tell that this is a live album, aside from the occasional clapping at the end of tracks. It's great that they perform so well live, but without the concert energy, again, I'm not sure what the significance of a live album inclusion is; this may as well be a greatest hits album. But on the other hand, I can't deny that this album is just a complete and total rock fest from start to finish. While it is certainly gratuitous, it is pretty impressive to hear Deep Purple just lose it on these instruments with expert musicianship and improvisation. However, without the concert energy context, the gratuitous instrumental nature does start to get a little boring after minutes and minutes of sitting and listening to it happening in multiple songs; sometimes it even slows down to a droning crawl. Overall, the whole thing does leave me a bit jealous that I couldn't be at this concert/series of concerts in order to see what it was like in person.
Fantastic classic rock album! I'm not a fan of the genre, but this being a live album made it fun to listen to. I don't think I'd listen again, though. 3/5 Favorite track: Child In Time
A solid live album, that has all the great Deep Purple songs you would expect to hear. The band is outstanding here, serving up technically perfect songs that are as good as or better than the studio versions. The album gets insanely jam-heavy in places, but mostly never ceases to be entertaining. Fave songs: Smoke on the Water, Highway Star, Child in Time, Space Truckin'
When I was 14 and 15 this album was the absolute bomb. My favorite live album. Now I'm 60 and I'm afraid the bloom is off the rose. All the songs go on too long except possibly Highway Star and Smoke on the Water. 15 year old me thought Child In Time was a masterpiece, now Ian Paice's vocal wailings just make me cringe. The musicianship is first rate there is no doubt, but I'm just not into wailing guitars and overly long drum solo's and self-indulgent organ wailing solos, though I still think Space Truckin' is great, my favorite song on the album. I think ultimately Spinal Tap ruined this kind of music for me, well at least it now makes me smile wryly. 3.5 stars for the nostalgia factor.
Live rock albums are rarely excellent, in my estimation. Jazz and blues and classical music recorded live has a much better chance of capturing the scope of the event. Not the same as being there in the moment, but you get close to the full experience. With a stadium-sized rock show, with no visuals, live albums almost always leave better than 50% of the experience behind. So it is with "Made In Japan." Deep Purple was possibly the biggest-sounding rock band in the world in 1972 — they were certainly among them — but this album doesn't recreate that sound. Ian Gillan on vocals deserves a 5-star on his own, you can hear the intensity of his performance, and he's one of the all-time greats, just being able to ride atop the massive sound the band is churning out is a feat — and he wails with the best of them. Ian Paice on drums is also in great form on this album, as is the rest of the band. But the throb of the organ, the bite of Blackmore's guitar, the bass... they just don't bring the noise on this recording. And while this is a bygone era, drum solos are almost always a bad idea, and the band spends so much time exploring jams and super-extended flights of fancy — is it really necessary to add solos on top of that? There's too much noodling, and combined with the sub-excellent translation of the live show, what could have been a concise wallop of an album meanders and seems to lack focus, even if the live show itself didn't. It's a 4-plus for the intensity we're not getting to hear, and for including the definitive version of "Smoke On The Water," but the other detractions weigh this album down. I guess they included the live album on this list because it highlighted the best of the band's material at its most awesome, but I bet a studio album from this era would have earned more stars.
The definition of a classic rock live album. Gratuitous as hell. Flashy guitar solos ajd long (too long for me) drum solos. I think I preferred the studio versions of these songs though I do enjoy a long jam. I think maybe being at this show would have improved the listening experience a lot for me. Pretty wild they we heard two deep purple albums before anything by The Who, Led Zeppelin or bob dylan
Impressive but harder for me to get into live albums. Guitarwork was phenomenal
Really was quite amazing by Ian gillains vocal range. Surprising deep purple don’t get the props led zeppelin and sabbath do.
Seems an amazing live experience. The Mule and after made me really want to be there in-person.
fine. thought i'd like it more. recording wasn't great imo.
Good
Cool to hear smoke on thw water. As a whole it was fine
I have a feeling that they were not, in fact, made in Japan
Good live album
I like a lot of the songs on here individually. This Live album just didn't do it for me. Too meandering and too long.
Sometimes enjoyable. The biggest problem is seven songs shouldn't take seventy-six minutes. I don't care who you are. Somebody stop the drummer. And the part where the lead singer was mimicking the guitar? Urgh.
Jam band album. Personally just more of an in studio album Vs recorded in this type of environment. Cool to hear the 11 min version but cooler to hear the distilled intentional version. Not a bad listen overall. Would not listen again.
not a fan of live albums but this is... ok?
I’m just not a big fan of drum solos, I don’t care who is doing it. Come to think of it, not a huge fan of any solos (exception: Hans). It’s just showing off really.
Jam band with good vocals.
Tracks 1-3, and the encores were great, 5 was alright, and 4, 6 and 7 were shit.
I know I should listen to this again, but I just don't want to waste the time. It's Deep Purple. Live. In Japan if that makes a difference. Exactly what it says on the tin. So if you're not a massive Deep Purple fan, don't expect any surprises.
deep purple aight. 70s hard rock woo. I never thought they were anything special and this essentially confirmed it. Fiyah in the sky
i liked it 3.5 but the lenth of each track is too long for me to listen to on a normal day of listening to music.
absolute shred city. love the vox guitar back and forth on SKOW
I did not finish the album because when I started it it was on shuffle and 30 minutes in I realized it was shuffling a bunch of stuff. I'll come back to it.
This was fine. It's a live performance, so it's pretty "jammy". Songs were kind of long, and as someone listening it as an album, I do not think it was amazing. I bet it was great live, though.
big organ driving all the tunes
The songs are great, the 20 minutes of shrieking guitar solos between the songs are a little grating
Heavy, goes on a bit.
There are some fun moments but I don’t want to be tied to deep purple for 2 hours
i stopped midway through. at some point i’m sure i’ll smoke and listen to this, but not rn.
Underrated live album. Child in time was the standout
Best Song: Child in time. The best vocal performance on the album, that perfectly hits that sweet point between singing and screaming. Plus a killer guitar solo. Worst Song: The Mule. Excessively long drum solo that even the crown didn't seem interested in. Overall: The music is good, but the live setting doesn't add much atmosphere beyond apparently giving the band permission to draw out each song into these long, drawn out solos and musical interludes while the audience quietly watches. The result is an album that feels a little "look what I can do", and lacks the cohesion of a regular album but also the passion of a live setting.
Ok. Fine. This is pretty cool. 4 Just a little too much boring dad music. (Though they get technical even in the boring parts) 3... (2.5)
Classic songs. But it was maybe slightly to long for my liking
My wife's mood fluctuates as much as her weight does. When she's naked it's hard to tell what's a stretch mark and what's a self harm scar. She likes Deep Purple and who am I to judge the sad, chubby moose?
Yet another album with a 50 year anniversary, this time a live concert recording from Japan by the band Deep Purple. The album has only 9 songs, but all of them have a different arrangement than on the studio recording. The big change - a lot of solos, improvisation and just general craziness. The first two songs were very promising Highway Star and Child in Time had the right amount of all the ingredients: faster songs, guitar solos, vocal improv, just a great show. As for the rest of the album, the quality, in my opinion, went a bit down. The same recipe as for the first two songs stopped working. It became bothersome and boring. I had a really hard time getting through last three songs. It might be amazing, when heard live, especially 50 years ago, but as a listener from a different generation, in my bed and with headphones on, that album doesn't have anything special for me anymore.
Great way to start a Monday morning
Solid 70s rock jam band - enjoyed more than I thought I would and love the live album sound
Nah - too drone’y for me
Wild sprawling jam sessions. What a rush
Almost lived up to the hype
Too much jam but still fun
Don't need a live album of this. Smoke on the Water speaks for itself - probably the first song anyone learns on guitar, if not Iron Man.
I'd say as far as live albums go this probably captured the energy quite well. Definitely some wankery in guitar-work but they definitely change things up as it goes on. Never got into much of Deep Purple besides liking "Smoke on the Water" as a teen learning guitar, but overall not bad. I could see people rating it 4-5 but it's generally not my thing.
I like Deep Purple as much as the next guy (though judging by the reviews, where too many people are under the impression that Smoke on the Water is their only song, maybe I like them better than the next guy), but come on. This thing lost steam somewhere around The Mule / Strange Kind of Woman. Sometimes the live show needs to stay the live show. Best track: Highway Star
Highlight: Highway Star
It seems a bit redundant to have a live album on here as well as the studio albums the tracks come from. It's then also a bit of a stretch to expect us to sit through the extended jam/solo versions of these songs. It's also a real punish when there are two versions of speed king and THREE versions of black knight on it (all 7min+), pushing the album to over 2 hours. wtf. Gripes aside, this is still preferable to most of the other 616 albums I've heard so far. The rockin' parts really do rock, Gillan can scream like a banshee, the guitar/keyboard playalongs are at least fun at first. My criticisms are all "it didn't need to-s": it didn't need to be any longer than an hour, it didn't need a 5min drum solo, it didn't need extended jams... but it wasn't "this fucking sucked". So it still gets an easy 3/5.
I know a few of their songs from hearing them at different times in my life. I liked them when I was a teen but didn't really listen to them beyond that. This live album was a good one for me to hear because I could listen to how incredible they are at improvising over their hard rock tunes. They play incredibly well. I don't necessarily love all the songs, and stylistically they probably aren't a band I'd come back to very often, but I definitely appreciate and admire what they can do as musicians.
Dirty fuckin' hippies on the cusp of some great shit. The 10 minute drum solo that felt like two hours really sucked, but there is some great riffs here that is true hardcore shit. I really liked this album as a historical artifact, but could taste the PCP through my earbuds and was hungover before the album ended.
I ended up liking this album more than I thought I would. To the point that I wouldn’t mind hearing it again. For a live album, I was surprised how little we hear the crowd.
I guess I’m not that into metal
I've never gone out of my way to listen to Deep Purple before. Their songs are recognizable, and jumping straight into a live album would not normally be how I introduce myself to an artist, but this was a treat.
I feel like with a very few exceptions, live albums are only suitable for fairly serious fans of a band or performer. It mostly held here, I am relatively indifferent to Deep Purple and was unmoved by these various bloated song versions, with all the Original Recipe Heavy Metal live show trimmings - the hyper-extended drum solo number, the call-and-response yell-off with the crowd... On the other hand just getting me to tolerate a nearly 20 minute version of “Space Truckin” is a feat, and at times the fun and energy of the time and crowd does shine through.
Kritisoin kyllä hieman sitä että tälle listalle nostetaan livelevyjä ja kokoelmia, mutta it is what it is… Asiaan. Onhan tää aika väkevä live. SOTW ehkä huonoin biisi kuten on myös DP:n Machine Head levyllä joka varmaan tästä generaattorista putkahtaa jossain kohtaa. Vittu tekis mieli antaa neljä pistettä ihan ton Highway Starin takii ku on nii poskettoman härkänen veto, mut laitetaan vähä malttii. 3/5
So Täp
Love a good live album, and Deep Purple certainly don't disappoint.
Holy long album Batman. Started at about 8:30 am and took me until 3:30 to get through it with interruptions. It was good but didn't need to be 2 hours long.
Actually pretty groovy, only heard smoke on the water and strange kind of woman before... only thing is pretty self-indulgent.
There are two types of people in the world: those who find Ian Gillan's high- pitched wailing in Child in Time completely thrilling and those who are horrified by it. I happen to be in the former camp and yet I'm not much of a Deep Purple fan (there is another way of splitting humanity into two clear groups: those who enjoy Smoke on the Water and normal people). It's all a bit silly really, though I must admit to enjoying a fair bit of it. Sort of.
Najbardziej było to widać w przypadku jedynego znanego szerszej publiczności Smoke On The Water, gdzie w solówce basowej zaczęli klaskać nie w rytm.
This is a double live album from Deep Purple's first tour of Japan in 1972. It is regarded as one of the top live albums, and this album's version of "Smoke on the Water" is praised as being the best by the band. At first the band had no intention of releasing a live album showcasing their amazing concerts, but bootleg recordings of the band were immensely popular so they planned their own release. Even after this change in decision, the band still did not want this live album released outside of Japan. However, this album jumped to the top of charts and sold a lot all around the world once it was released worldwide. In conclusion, this is a very popular live album with a lot of great tracks from Deep Purple. I recommend everyone to give it a listen!
not something i would ever come back to, but these guys deserve some points for sheer enthusiasm.
It is a live album
crisp. the drum solos and long ass guitar solos are purely jerkin' off.
Of all of the live albums I've gotten so far, this one felt the most like a concert with all of the guitar solos and added stuff to each song. Unfortunately, I don't like Deep Purple that much so I couldn't fully enjoy the live vibes. Smoke on the Water is still cool though
it's a live classic rock album what more can be said - never been a huge deep purple fan though
Live albums aren't my thing per se, but it is a classic.
Elements of this I enjoyed, but each song just went on and on. And The 2-3 min drum solo was hard to get through. I'm a fan of Black Night and Lucille, the first half let it down for me. Wish I could give a 2.5
Pretty enjoyable at times, other times it gets too self-indulgent with the technical wankery. 2.5/5
Deep and long
Impressive live album, long, fun solos, call and response, dorky but they know what they're about
I feel the same way about this Deep Purple album that I did about the other Deep Purple album I got on this list, which is that when the lead singer hits his high notes, all I hear is Dennis Reynolds from IASIP singing Day Man. Add to that that it's a double live album, and there isn't much for me to get into here. Their music is fine, but there's so much about this album that biased me against it going in. Not bad, but I was ready to be done after two songs. After the high water point of Smoke On The Water, every song is at least 9.5 minutes long. 3/5
Pretty sure my dad had this on vinyl, not too bad, but quite proggy in parts. Won't listen again
A very well produced and engineered live album, by a band in it's grandiose and feral peak.
If you are familiar with Deep Purple this is probably great cause it adds a twist to songs you already know. If you are not it's a lot of jamming and screaming. I am not familiar with most of there work but I can appreciate this.
Sort of a cool sound with the organ, and I liked his voice. I'm not as big on such long songs/solos.
fine, I can appreciate it but not my thing.
Good live alum. Some songs were extended, but it really felt like it didn’t add to the songs. More like the band was just showing off that they know how to play their instruments and not expanding the song so much.
Similar to "...In Rock", which I reviewed last week. Soloing good, but lengthy. Slightly proggy. Good live recording. All the hits!
Not crazy about the live album ness
Live Deep Purple. It's good.
It was okay but: 1. Prefer the studio recordings more 2. Songs are too damn long. Just get to the next one already, sheesh.
Not for me. It rocks though, for sure.
Fun, I guess, but most of the songs lack a strong enough hook or chorus to justify such long solos.
This rocked when I was at school: still does.
First Listen. It's a great album and it's live.
Loved this album in high-school. It hasn't aged well for me. Songs are too long the solos are too long and indulgent. But it sounds great. 3.5 🌟
Very long drawn out songs. Rocked tho 6/10
Solid if meandering classic rock. I like envisioning being there, in a Tokyo arena with a Tokyo crowd, listening to American rock more than I like the actual album. But it's pretty fun, nonetheless.
I liked it
Not bad. After the well known tracks fades from enjoyment. 3.4
Something is weird about live albums to begin with, but having three different shows throws me off a bit more AND to have multiple versions of the same song is even more off (all three versions of Black Night?)
Some great songs. Never been much for live albums. I'd rather see the show.
pretty good live versions
Decent
I wish I could give this 2.5, because I would much rather rate the album on which these songs were originally included. 3/5.
Great classic rock
Would've been better if they'd stuck to having actual songs not just 20 minute drum solos.
I knew Deep Purple for Smoke on the Water - the tune every kid knows when learning the guitar. It's a classic and it pigeon-holed the band to a certain sound in my head. This album expanded my understanding of the band a lot. While a fairly hard band, sort of metal, sort of hard rock, the progressive rock element was also highlighted. At times it could have been Emerson, Lake and Palmer that thought I was listening to, other times, the lilt of the voice and riffs reminded me of Spinal Tap. The long drum solo was lost a bit without being able to see it. As far as live albums go, it seemed to capture the band well for the true fan, but as a casual listener to their genre, I will check this one of the list and probably not revisit it again.
There are decent classic rock sounds here, but also a lot of tiresome muso self-indulgence.
It's kinda fun, but they're just not that good though, are they? It's half hard-rock, half psych-rock, except not as good as the best bands from either genre and never committing to either genre for a satisfying enough length of time. I enjoyed bits of what I heard, but it wasn't good enough for me to sit here for the full 2 hours.
Undoubtedly incredible musicians, but a little too rock and roll for my vibe. Am I not a hard rock personality....? ...But she’s so cool... we never saw it coming...
7 songs, 76 minutes 😳
Guitar good
One of the first CDs I bought for myself and listened to on repeat, when I started getting into rock in middle school, was a "best of" Deep Purple. I loved it... but I never listened to any of their real albums! This is actually a live album from a performance in Osaka, Japan. It's got a bunch of tracks from that "best of" disc. 1. Highway Star- voice recording is awful, in a charming way. awesome electric organ solo. 2. Child in Time - I forgot what a great song this is. Fun jams in this version. 3. Smoke on the Water - nice to hear a different version of the classic 4. The mule - I like this song. I'm less familiar with it. Long drum solo. 5. Strange kind of woman - excellent extended jam on this track 6. Lazy - wowzer of a synth intro. Fun outro. Best track so far? 7. Space Truckin - 19 MINUTES LONG. That synth doing the main riff is THICC.
Instrumental!
All around pretty good, love the extended solos from all members on the songs, entertaining to listen to.
A bit bluesy
Rekoh si kud sad ta glazba bemu lebac. Child of Time vjerujem da je nekakav klasik jer zvuči kvalitetno. 3.03/5
Dobar koncert, krenuo jako
I have a newfound appreciation for Deep Purple. Still not my cup of tea necessarily, but they definitely put on a show. Lots of epic tunes here. Favorite Track : Highway Star Least Favorite Track : The Mule
don't usualy listen to hard rock but this nostalgic lifly af
Interesting enough. Lots of messing about on solos, great if you were there at the time
More deep purple! It's like being 17/18 and discovering my dad's records again.
Silly, over the top, self-indulgent stadium rock. In other words everything a Deep Purple live album should be. Love it.
I have to stick to the system - love some of this music, have been one of my best surprises from this thing and this was really enjoyable but unlikely to go back to it really (unlike their studio stuff)
jako dobra gitara sve u svemu, vise melodicno i "atmosferno"
3/5 this kind of lives are not my cup of tea at all. Even though some songs were good
Hard drum solos.
Oh the solos! Drums in "The Mule," Vocals (screams!) in "Strange Kind of Woman," Keys in "Lazy." I loved discovering "Can We Have Everything Louder Than Everything Else?" and learning the story behind "Smoke on the Water" (I looked it up on Wikipedia). "Space Truckin'" is quite an exit jam! I wasn't familiar with this album before. It's not really my "thing," but still enjoyable and interesting.
Good album, but I don't like Live music...Hearing people screaming or clapping kind of annoys me.
The caterwauling in "Child in Time" is laughably horrendous. "...Some stupid with a flare gun..." might just be one of the worst lyrics in rock history.
Pretty fucking wild 2 hour long Deep Purple concert recording. It’s good to listen to for sure, but like its a whole ass concert. I listened passively and it was solid, but I could not have actively listened to this for that long. So, I guess plan accordingly.
Good start but a little bit noodly toward the end. Live albums tend to disappoint.
3.5 - Hesitated for 2 months to give this a listen. Good as far as live recordings go - some killer extended guitar solos - but not likely something I'll be excited to listen to unless it's playing on late night classic rock radio, or maybe at some dive bar.
Not bad, but it is waaaay too long
Not a bad live album. 6/10.
Good album. Started off strong and I was into it with its powerful guitar and drums. For me it just started getting a little annoying about 5 songs in with every song just dragging on. Maybe I needed to be high.
Interesting. Not my favorite but they get after it?
A very strange album. This was probably more interesting live where you could also watch it. Lots of improvisation, drum solos that went on for a very long time, etc. Otherwise it was enjoyable to listen to. Smoke on the Water obviously the most recognizable as the first song everyone learns on guitar
This is good. It rocks. 3 stars.
Not bad, dragged on some songs
Great live album. Screaming hard rock.
It's a good live album from a good rock/metal band, but nothing special
Good stuff but I'd rather listen to the studio versions
Prefer the studio version, not a fan of prog
Eh
Great album to show they band's mastery over their instruments, but holy balls it's a long album. Also, even though yes, it is good, why is it on this list? I wouldn't say it's quite all that.
I think there’s a latent impulse in basically any talented musician to want to show off, and I don’t think it’s innately a bad thing because it can bring you and the others around you and the audience genuine musical gifts. However, as with any sort of showing off, there’s always the chance that you cross the magically unknowable line of overindulgence - obviously where this line sits is so personal and context dependent as to be something you just know when you hear it, but it does always exist either way. Anyway, this album is like textbook overindulgence to me. Taking already simple and thin songs (not bad, just an observation) and stretching them way beyond sense, spinning out beyond musicality into showcases that just feel like they’re made for the person doing the playing and no one else (not even other people in the band on stage) and this is all without me getting into some of their tendencies to just make annoying noises repeatedly for whatever reason, much to my additional chagrin. Almost every song here seems like it would be much better in the tighter form of a single recorded album than a double live album, except for Smoke on the Water, which they build on without toppling. It’s just the kind of 70s hard rock and the kind of live album that makes you want to not like either, even if you do like them.
I did it, I listened to it all the way through, and it's official: I do NOT dig DP. I'm sure they tick all the boxes for the metal heads, yay for them but if I never hear them again ... I wouldn't shed a tear
I simply don't care how good this album is. I don't care that the playing is great. I don't care that the band sounds vital and energetic. I don't care that it some how refreshed and shines new light on one of the most recognizable and cliched riffs in music. In the end they are to blame for some much that would come in their wake. And every time Ian Gillian screams for the rafters my hatred grows. They have much to answer for but I just don't care.
Metal is not my thing and the screeching/screaming vocalist was irritating.
I have had it with these motherfucking live double albums on this motherfucking list. The musicianship is impressive. The tracks are cool and bluesy... at first. Then they go on and on and on. 7 tracks drawn out over 78 minutes.
Want to basically hear Machine Head again, but with like half an hour of extra gratuitous solos? Have I got an album for you!
Not sure how I feel about live albums on this list. This is the first one I’ve had so far and the performances sounded great but was just too long as someone who’s not a mega fan
I wasn't sure about this one
⭐️⭐️ I ain’t much of a live album guy. I like Deep Purple and the guitar solos are interesting, but seeing disc 2 and its run-time for the same songs just took the wind out of my sails.
I was nice about a different Deep Purple album before but respectfully, is a live album from them something we need to hear? Like yeah it sounds good as a piece of live music but I think that most live albums could be easily omitted here 2/5
I’m not a huge Deep Purple fan as it is, so a double live album of theirs didn’t exactly fill me with joy. This was fine. I get this would probably be a wicked show to have seen live, and some of the extended guitar sections are fun, but I’m just not that into it.
I feel like if I hadn't gotten Machine Head just a month ago, I'd be inclined to rate this highly. But why does this need to be on the list with Machine Head? Are we gonna start putting deluxe albums separately from the regular edition? Being generous with a 2 star here.
This album is like a T.S. Eliot poem. Quite long and difficult to digest. The quality of the music is mostly 3-star level, sure; but the absolute daftishness of its conception, birth, and execution is just stunning. It really does my head in.
I’m not a Deep Purple fan, to me it’s just basic bitch early heavy rock. You have to appreciate the musicianship but then again it’s hard to keep attention in a non gig setting to 10min long mid song jams and solos. Does nothing for me, I expect it does loads for some but I am not arsed about listening to it again. 2.3
Didn't really like this. Some great riffs and playing at times but it's full of self indulgent soloing that goes on way too long. I hate the vocals and keys sound too. Never been massively into deep purple and this just confirms my indifference.
Every time a solo ended it felt like when you turn off the kitchen fan and it's a relief because you hadn't realised how loud it was.
Beetje lang
Smoke on the Water!! I just don’t think live albums (in general) should be on the list. Already long songs made longer.
Hootin with a side (or 50) of hollerin but not in a completely bad way. Great live performance but not my cup of tea, DNF
Sure, these guys are very talented and the performance goes pretty hard and heavy, but you can skip this one. I don't believe any live record belongs on this list unless it's something along the lines of Fela Kuti and Ginger Baker, or James Brown at The Apollo. Basically, if it's a live record that must be heard, it should be a singular piece of music history, not just the radio hits that we already know from the studio version with ~10 minutes of solos/jams added in....
These songs are mostly way too long and noodly for me. The never ending drums on the Mule almost put me to sleep.
W/ more jump & pace than Deep Purple displays on the two studio albums I have heard of theirs, which weren't any good, this live record still drives me nuts, even tho the instrumental prowess is clear. It's not palpable tho - the talent is obvious enuf, but soul is replaced by self-seriousness, & Ian Gillan mixes the pot w/ a one-note campaign that often takes away from whatever enjoyment I get out of the album instrumentally. There are moments here & there that remind me of the blessed aliveness of the Allman Brothers at Fillmore East, but they're few & far between, & at its worst, Made in Japan flaunts cheesy modulations that reek not only of metal but prog absurdity. It's the organ I think, the organ that takes bands like DP from bad to shite.
The punk in me just can't with this shit. I've found the other Deep Purple albums in this project fun in a "real-life Spinal Tap" kinda way, but not this. It embodies the ridiculous excesses of '70s rock, laying bare all the reasons my punk forefathers revolted. A 20-minute version of "Speed Truckin'"? Fuck right off.
Long
Not good
1972 in all its glory. Ian Paice in particular is on splendid form, swinging away as he drives the band. Lots of guitar solos with widdly-widdly-widdly happening An interesting time capsule, but I was quite relieved when it was over
Didn't really enjoy. Too screamy rock for me.
Would I listen again: no Only had time to listen to the first half. I just couldn’t get into it. Best part was when he was imitating the guitar on strange kind of woman.
On a déjà eu Machine Head, c'était ben l'fun. Ça c'était vraiment pas nécessaire. 2.49 étoiles
This band has never really clicked for me and, while Smoke on the Water is a classic for a reason and I do admire the live performance, this is not a record I see myself revisiting very much.
I don't know why live albums are included in in this list. Maybe it's just me, but for me, I have to be a pretty big fan of a band to want to listen to their live versions. I ended up giving up on this one, no thanks.
Just because you can do 10min drum solos doesn’t mean you should … and live albums are still cheating
Some nice guitar parts but ultimately an absurd amount of solos. I'd be upset to have an hour + concert and only 7 songs cause there had to be a jam session in nearly every single one
Hey, it's that band that did that one song that every kid trying to learn guitar learns the riff to. Otherwise live albums of rock bands that noodle for minutes on end without vocals just isn't my jam.
Live Album. Metal / Rock. Never been a huge fan of live albums. This gig was obviously epic. To be there and see Deep Purple absolutely shred all their instruments was clearly awesome. As an album though it's out of context and loses it's juice. Also overly elaborate stuff like this is a huge reason why Punk needed to and did happen.
Another live album. My only gripe with this type of music is why every song needs to be so long. For instance The Mule seems like a 10 minute drum solo. Granted the crowd seem to like it however it always seems artifical and redundant. The organ us a strange choice in a ro k band probably dates back to 60s roots. The last track nearly 20 mins with an organ piece. Philistine that I am do songs really need to be over 4 min max. Good hard Rock riffs. The high pitched singing can get a bit much. Not a chore to listen to but don't think I would revisit.
My dad loves Deep Purple, so even though I haven't listened to Deep Purple much on my own, I've heard a lot of these songs multiple times. I've also seen Deep Purple live, not in Japan in 1972 but in Oulu Finland in 2014. Deep Purple has a few good songs, but none of these live versions are up to the standard of the album version. Also, there should be some rule that limits the number of solos to one per song.
Most live albums feel weird being on here.
Highway star is awesome, it's cool as fuck. Best version. Amazing organ, amazing guitar. Best song on the album. Child in time is fine musically, if not for it plodding on for a bit too long. However the vocals, specifically his wailing AAAAAAAAAAAAAs for a chorus are a pain in the arse to listen to, they're grating and I actively hate them. Smoke on the water, also awesome and cool as fuck. It's Smoke on the water. The Mule starts off cool then the drum fill becomes a solo... and it just keeps going... I was like nah mate, so I skipped through like 5 whole minutes until the rest of the band kicked back in. Easy skip unless you're really into drums, in which case it's probably the best track. It's a good drum solo, it's just not worth 5 minutes of my time. Strange kind of woman is fine, nothing special at all, a by-the-numbers early 70s hard rock song. About 6 minutes in the singer starts trading licks with the guitar but I don't know, it just sounds annoying, like when someone mocks you by saying your words back to you in a high pitched voice. Led Zeppelin manage to do the same shtick but don't make it irritating. I think I just find Ian Gillan annoying. Sometimes he sounds like a seagull with its nuts in a vise. Lazy is a fun little piece you can boogie to. Doesn't really go anywhere though. Some fun but unimportant filler, gives the impression they used up their actual songs before the gig was over so they spunked this out to pad out the runtime. Edit; For some reason the version I was listening to didn't have Space Truckin on the end. Looking at the runtime I'm thinking this had better be worth it. Starts off pretty cool, not as good as Highway Star but probably in the top 3 of the album so far. I'm halfway through, and while it sounds pretty spacey and far out, it's not really worth it yet. About 11 minutes in it sounds cool. Maybe I'm too sober for it. This isn't in the top 3 anymore haha. There's no need for it to be this long without it developing further as a song, so much meandering noodling and unnecessary padding. There's about 2 minutes where literally nothing happens. About 16 minutes in, Blackmore is back from taking a shit and plays some cool stuff. Oh and it just ends? Okay I guess. Yeah that wasn't worth it. --- The album is cobbled together from 2 dates, one in Osaka and one in Tokyo. Everything on the LP is from Osaka except for The Mule and Lazy. The Tokyo show must have sucked. Overall one or two really high highs and the rest is some average stuff tainted by some annoying choices they didn't have to make. The Organ and Guitar are consistently world class, but you already knew that. About half the songs are guff, and when each song is like 10 minutes and there's only 7 songs, that's not very good value for money.
While the arrangements are skillful and you can hear where other bands that came along later took their inspiration the lyrics of Deep Purple have always left me wanting more. I am a bit of an anti-live music person as well and find albums recoded live to be wanting. I would have preferred a studio album from Deep Purple to be on this list so given that I did drop the rating a bit.
There are no live albums I truly need to hear before I die. Parts of this were okay. There were also some unnecessary shrill sounds, both vocals and on guitar, that I could do without. That last track would be the point in the concert where I would go to the bathroom. If that was an encore, I'd be annoyed.
A surprisingly low energy live album given how many iconic songs it includes. I'd much prefer to listen to the studio versions of these tracks if I'm entirely honest. I'm sure all the freestyling and long winded sonic detours would be great to appreciate live, but when I'm just sitting down and listening to stuff at home I really just prefer a tighter experience. Like I'm really not here to listen to a meandering 6 damn minutes long drum solo. Sorry to be the world's #1 live album hater and all that.
2.2 Oof. I've said my piece on here about the inclusion of live albums, and this epitomises why: - terrible audio quality - unnecessary intros/drum solos/electronic feedback/codas - embellishments that would only sound great when used to the shorter, polished album version I'd much rather have had a decent Deep Purple album, as there are small segments here where they sound talented. But then it goes off the rail with live extravagance again. Lost opportunity.
LUCKY ME, 2 hours & 2 minutes of repetitive trash music!
The music wasn’t bad however this seemed like a weird mishmash collection of their music that did not seem to fit well at all together. Also way too long.
Loved my DP back in the day. Lesser so these days but still appreciate the sound they created. Decent live recording. High 2s.
I mean, it was a bit of a long, diddling compilation of live tracks from some Osaka/Tokyo tour dates. Half of the songs were just ok, and half were pretty good. Not enough to make 70+ mins standout as needing to go on this list. 2.4/5 -> 2/5
Le doy 2 estrellas porque tiene temones como smoke on the water
Album #104 Deep Purple: Made In Japan Two things are required for you to enjoy a live performance from a band: being there in person and actually knowing the songs. I feel like when it comes to live albums, you lose the most important part of the live experience, and the only way for an album to come close to capturing the same live magic is to reinvent the songs that we know and love. If a live album is just the band playing the songs in the exact way they sound on a studio album, what is the point? That being said, the only way to appreciate the reimagining of the songs is to know them well enough to be surprised by the changes. When I listen to Bob Dylan at Royal Albert Hall, or Dire Straits Alchemy, I’m captivated since I’m a big fan of both and am eager to hear how they sounded live. When I listen to Made In Japan by Deep Purple, I’m left lost because I can’t tell where the song begins and the jamming ends. Of course, I know a few songs from this album, and I do enjoy Deep Purple very casually, but I am far from a superfan. The first three songs were all decently familiar and enjoyable, and brought some great live energy and experimentation; but by the time The Mule kicked in I sort of lose interest in what is happening. Even though the songs ‘Space Truckin’ is one that I know and enjoy normally, the 20 minute live version just seems a tad unnecessary and boring. This is far from the worst album that I’ll hear on this list, and I’d wager to say that if you’re a Deep Purple fan it probably is a great album, however, I have to rate is poorly because as someone who doesn’t know much about Deep Purple, it just feels like a waste of an inclusion on this list. Best Tracks: Child In Time, Smoke on The Water, Highway Star Worst Track: Space Truckin Score out of 10: 5
Very competent but not every song has to have a 10 minute solo
It has some cool part but the songs kept on going, I can appreciate a good solo, but this just kept coming. Once there was a second version of black night, I realised I was listening to the deluxe version. I thought to myself, this is where I draw the line and I turned it off, never to be listened to again
Not in the mood for a full Deep Purple concert thanks
The length didn't bother me. I'm just not a Deep Purple guy
Please for the love of god stop giving us live rock albums where every song is between 7 and 12 minutes long, every song is either identical or Smoke on the Water, and every song has a dreadful drum solo in it. It's neither good nor bad, because it isn't art. Maybe I'd like to see it live. I highly doubt it, but maybe I'd be drawn in by quite competent guitarists and a straining singer? I will say that I think Smoke on the Water is a bit of a banger. Fine.
Not a deep purple guy
smoke on the water is a real song???
Smoke on the Water is the song that democratized guitar.
Hard to listen but some good moments
Not my favorite. 5.5/10 Best songs Smoke on the water Highway star
Unnötig lange.
Irre lange instrumental Phasen.
Not for me
I do not dig live albums in general, especially if it's full of Deep Purple songs
I almost went with a 2.5 or higher, but some of the instrument solos were overly long and downright annoying. One time they decided to make a grating noise to kick off a track and it made me audibly yell out “WTF”, and I just hit skip. Again, outside of live jazz albums, we don’t need live rock albums on this list. JFC.
Probably would have been cool to be there, but listening after the fact… I dunno, it’s the studio versions with extra noise and some cheap thrills?
Standard rock
Never thought I would get bored of solos
Not sure why a middling live album is in the 1001 list.
I don't even hate Smoke on the Water and the main riff in Space Truckin' is pretty good but I just can't with 19-minute version of songs featuring drum solos and "improvisation" and whatnot. Just play the song like you're supposed to.
besides smoke on the water who gaf and to be honest even that song is overrated
I just cannot get into live albums. I would always rather listen to the studio version unless I get to be in the live audience.
Better than the other Deep Purple album. Did we need two on this list?? Probably not. Glad this band means something to somebody else
a high 2. more momentum and power than ‘smoke on the water’ would suggest but this is a slog. it’s medium pace riff rock and nothing else, not like maybe sabbath or zep where there’s something there for the freaks
I'm fine with live albums, but this is kinda redundant. Does anyone care about Deep Purple any more? I enjoyed Machine Head, ok? Don't push it. (also, it's super funny to me how badly the clapping fell apart on Smoke on the Water)
Didn't like much this style. couldn't listen entire
Fine.
The band was clearly jamming and enjoying itself but as a live album I found it a bit dull listening to a 10minute drum solo or random wailing or "spacey sounds". Maybe it would have been better as a live dvd to see the performance as well. Smoke on the water is obviously the classic and most likely the first song a lot of the generation has learnt as the first guitar song (as have I).
Oh yay another Live album. Still not a fan. Pretty decent start to the album, "Highway Star" is highly energetic, and has some impressive (if slightly over-the-top) solos. OK. What is this drum solo. Why is it still going. The call and answer bit in "Strange Kind of Woman" is ... I guess kinda fun, but it was also really cringe inducing, and once again it dragged on for way too long. "Space Truckin'" is just genuinely god awful wank. I'm pretty sure at around the 14 minute mark it is literally just a kid having a cello lesson? I think in conclusion, I really liked the bits of this album where the band were playing, all together, the actual tracks. I disliked all the dicking about. The solos are so ridiculously self-indulgent, and though bits are impressive, they aren't exactly that pleasant to listen to. I'd listen to more Deep Purple, they're clearly a talented bunch, but I'd never listen to this album again. I usually hate Live albums because of the crowd interactions, but I hate this Live album because of the ego-stroking naffness of the solos.
Trotzdem.
double live album....seriously?
I think I would call this album “Mommy, when will this song be over?”, or “I think I’ll go to the bathroom during this 15 minute drum solo”. I think you get the point…there are people out there that love this sort of thing, but it sure isn’t me. I think it’s a snooze-fest. Two stars.
Fun listen but there's no reason for this to make the list.
No track needs to be 19 minutes long
Some talented musicians but really not my style
I don’t get live albums. Part of my ratings are based around “would I return back to this?” And I can’t imagine listening to this again. It feels like I need to have some chemical assistance and a vibe to enjoy this.
If you told me this was a Spinal Tap album, my only question would be "why isn't it funny?"
Meh
Ian Paice does some amazing things, occasionally joined by the band. However a disappointing live recording devoid of atmosphere
Child In Time is always a pleasure to listen to, but this mostly sounds like pointless fiddling after the first few songs
God. another Live Album. Another tiresome generic 70s rock album with those generic rock guitar riffs. Oh, they do smoke on the water..figures. While you are at it, throw in a 7 minute drum solo why don't you. I know people love this sort of thing, and I can see why it is on the list I guess, but this is not for me. 2 stars
Mnogo talantliva grupa, no na momenti stawaha mnogo dusadni barabanite I kitarata 3.5/5
When I love a band so much that I buy a ticket to go see them in concert, I’m there to hear their songs as they recorded and released them to the public. Now I’m not a fool. I know that some songs will be embellished and stretched out. When every god damn song is that way it really pisses me off and makes the concert worse (I’m staring at you angrily Foo Fighters). Just play your fucking songs. Don’t become a jam band all of a sudden live if you’re a rock band. I guess Deep Purple fell into this trap too. Give me a break.
Don't see the point. It's just a best of Deep Purple album essentially.
Wasn't looking forward to this one but then the first song rocked. Maybe this won't be the over-the-top seventies self-indulgent rock music I thought it would be. Wrong.
I'm surprised there's a Live album on this list. Maybe I have an anti-live album bias. Maybe it's a good thing that there's a live album to specifically combat this bias. I still don't think I enjoyed having the album be live though. Some of the solos are way too long (like the drum part in The Mule), much longer than they need to be. The songs themselves aren't bad, but the solos are too uninteresting and long.
A real mix of top notch songs and self indulgent nonsense. 5 minute drum solos and playing a guitar so fast my brain can't keep up is the limiting factor here
It's ok. But for all the air guitar masters it must be great.
A little boring
I’m sure some people love 7 minute rock drum solos… I’m not one of them. 3/10
Album No. 0072 on my list. I've known the album and its reputation before, but never listened to it. Some of the songs were familiar in their studio versions. I didn't like the album that much to be honest. Most songs consist of very extensive guitar solos, most of which lack a bit of dynamism unfortunately - I can't deny that the instrumental work is good, the solos themselves are still not very distinct and characteristic. Most songs themselves are okay. I think this is a great album for fans of a) the band or b) that specific style of (guitar) playing. As far as I can tell, the band really is in the prime of their abilities, and if you enjoy listening to the same track in different live recordings three times on one album, great. I'm a big fan of neither, so it's not my album unfortunately. "Highway Star", and "Strange Kind of Woman" will be added to my playlist. 2/5 stars.
enjoyed Machine Head as I liked the chunky rock groove esp Smoke on the Water. This live album takes the rock groove on a very long walk through the woods to see granny and stopping of at the shops on the way home. Musically they are clearly talented and must have been great to be there - but I dont need an extended drum solo and guitar noodling 12 min versions esp the yelping breakdown in the middle of Strange King of Woman. Which is a shame as there are some real moments when it rocks.
Made in Japan I found a few versions with varying tracklists, but I ended up listening to what I think is the original 7 track release. I kind of wish I’d stuck to the 4 track version, and maybe just stuck to Highway Star and Smoke on the Water, as they contain all you need from this really. Obviously they are very tight, the organ, drums, bass and guitars are all excellent, but it’s so long and unless you are a big fan of Deep Purple it all feels very inessential, especially as each song is unnecessarily long. Not terrible, but not that interesting to me, and I don’t think I’d come back to it. 2. 🎌🎌 Playlist submission: Smoke on the Water
Child In Time //
Boring
I felt like I had put a fair amount of time in this album, heard several impressive guitar solos, a lot of high-pitched wailing, a couple slower sections, definitely enough to get the overall feel of the album. I was getting a little bit bored with it, though, and checked to see how much was left before I can move on to something else. I was still on track 2 3 Stars UPDATE: I got to the part on Strange Kind of Woman where the singer starts a call and response with the guitar, so I'm downgrading this to 2 stars

Not as deep into this as I thought I’d be
I hope someone had a good time. I didn't.
I’m not a huge fan of live albums and I’m not a huge fan of this band, however, this isn’t bad as far as all that goes. Songs tend to overstay their welcome because it’s a live album. Highway star, Child in Time, Smoke on the Water.
Alright, seriously overrated though
we get it, guys
Points off for excessive soloing
I respect that the Japanese audience didn't make a lot of noise during the songs, she I appreciate that. There were some of the big hits, and some some that is y never heard before, because I'm not a big Deep Purple fan. But the "second" disc was largely unnecessary because it was the same bloody song three times, and I only needed to hear it once. And the lead singer scatting the guitar notes was annoying. My rating:2/5
Funnily enough I'm off to Japan later today. I'll hit Osaka next week, where conservatively I presume I'll truly be able to appreciate this rambling, repetitive album. Wonderful recording quality though. Even if it has been remastered, it is a masterful remaster, the atmosphere has been preserved. Really cool beats and compoteition, but I did get bored very fast. Every song having a mid-way jam made marmalade of my head.
If I wanted this much noodling I would go to a Thai restaurant.
This live album was a little self indulgent and needed to be trimmed down a little bit. No one needs 10 minute versions of these songs, especially when 2 of those minutes are the chatter in between. Decent performances but nothing I need to visit again.
Most of the cuts were way too long. Extended solos were tedious
Whilst i respect the reverence with which Deep Purple are held, this is not for me. I didnt particularly enjoy their studio albums, the live album sounds so much muddier and unappealing.
I guess you had to be there. I get it, they were on fire and playing the hell out of their instruments. It just doesn't move me, and I'm familiar with a lot of the songs. From Wikipedia, "but were unenthusiastic about recording a live album..." and I can see why. There's something lost in the translation to vinyl here for me. Would have been a fantastic show to have attended but not having been there I'd rather listen to the studio versions of these songs. "Lazy" is maybe the exception to that feeling for me. This version is killing it. However I don't need a twenty minute version of "Space Truckin'"...ever.
When it's good it's very good, and i've no doubt these shows would have been spectacular to attend. However, as a live album, it has no respect for the listener's time, and the ridiculously long drum fills and solos weigh heavy. Would not listen again. 4/10
A few of their classic songs on here but this isn’t as good for me as it was back in the 70’s.
Like a lot of classic rock bands, they get a lot more noodle-y in live performances. Most people consider that a bad thing, but I tend to like noodling from time to time. Sometimes the noodling worked in their favor, other times it just made me bored. Not a bad album, but it feels odd to have this here when there's others missing. Also Space Truckin did not need to be 20 minutes fuck off with that shit.
Deep Sleep
Great band from the 60’s and 70’s. Great songs.
This annoyed me today. I probably didn't judge it fairly just because I wasn't really in the mood for it. I was thinking to myself that if it was on in a cafe, I would be mildly entertained by it, so maybe I should be more generous. I found it very uninspiring though. Don't really like their straight up hard rock sound, without any particular grove or interesting features. Don't really like the live fan engagement, long solo, drawn out tracks and endings antics
2/5 unironically sounds like spinal tap
No. There is no way this album is essential listening. Half the tracks are already on this list with Machine Head, so all this adds is guitar wank and crowd noise. Noone needs a 20 minute version of space trucking.
I am one of those people who just doesn’t like live albums. However, sounds like these guys were having a great time, so good for them.
Some of the harder rock elements were cool but honestly this goes on too long and as I’ve expressed before I’m really not a fan of live albums. Smoke on the water will forever be iconic but beyond that, I don’t have much interest in returning to this record.
Some fun classic rock and roll but didn't really feel like I was at the concert.
Not the best work music. Some of the jams were hard to listen to and messy. I liked highway star so hey that’s something
So many songs from my youth, when the Purple were very good listening after one or two Camberwell Carrots. How's it hold up for those about to drop? The tunes generally are banging, Ian Gillan is a superb rock and rolling singer, absolutely nails it, Rob Priest totally ripped him off, one too many Camberwell's perhaps? Highway Star is very top shelf Beavis and Butthead you rock! But there is an early seventies urge to nurdle, solo and extend that is terribly dated. The wig outs on Child in Time etc are dreadful. Even the song BB King could never play, Smoke on the Water, is seven minutes, leave it out Mr Paice. And I lurved Space Truckin to death when I was a long haired smelly 13 year old, but 19 minutes with an organ sustained drum solo, I mean seriously get me my dealer stat! A four minute intro alone to a nine minute Lucille? Little Richard was done, dusted and ready to good golly miss molly within 2 minutes wooooooo! A serious early seventies mistake that one. So, a great band with some great early seventies kick arse tunes, but they are ruined by the desire of too many "players" to indulge themselves in that very seventies "we are serious musicians" kind of way. Bummer.
Decent live album but I don't really see why this is on this list
I'm not a fan of live albums
I think it would be fair of me to start with talking about some of the things I like about this album. I liked: 1. That it is definitely more interesting than Deep Purple in Rock and, largely, their songs are much cooler performed live than in the studio 2. The use of the organ as a rock-n-roll instrument generally 3. Some parts of Lucille 4. The quiet breakdown near the beginning of Strange Kind of Woman 5. The overall sincerity of this band. They are trying REALLY hard to make epic music and rock out, and I can respect that 6. The fact that they have an overall aesthetic sensibility that is trackable and tangible and is even reflected in some of the song titles like Speed King, Black Night, and Highway Star. Ultimately these aesthetics don't amount to much, but again, I can respect it 7. Solo on Highway Star 8. Harsh noise intro on Lazy 9. Deep Purple is a pretty cool band name 10. Instrumental section in second half of Space Truckin' was actually cool asf 11. There are moments that, even in 2025, sound like that they threaten to devolve into chaos. This is honestly pretty sick and probably sounded even crazier at the time With that said, unfortunately, the things I hate greatly outnumber and outperform the things that I like. I'll list a few here: 1. The fact that they have an overall approach to music that values quantity over quality. The songs? Make them longer, it'll be sick. The vocals? Scream louder, it'll be fuckin epic. Solos? Let's give each instrument a solo. 2. In fact, the drum solo track as a whole I hated and really captures the errors of their approach. They dedicate SO MUCH TIME to a drum solo that GOES NOWHERE with the thought that people will eat it up because it's an 11-minute drum solo. And undoubtedly people did. But when they went home, they certainly said "It was amazing, they did an 11-minute drum solo!" but, if forced to name WHY they liked that or what their favorite part of the drum solo was, they would draw a blank. And that's because there weren't parts. It was just an aimless drum solo for grandiosity's sake. I don't like that 3. When the vocalist vocalizes the guitar notes, I want to die 4. The vocals generally are grating and irritating to me 5. Not to be a broken record, but the LENGTH OF THE SONGS. There's no reason these songs need to be this long. They basically are composed of like 3 ideas, and usually the ideas aren't all that good or dissimilar from the ideas on their other songs. Why do I have to listen to them repeat their shitty ideas over and over? 6. The tone of the organ can, at times, be really fucking awful 7. The lyrics are nothing for me 8. Smoke on the Water, which is garbage 9. The fact that, in the version I listened to, I had to listen to Speed King twice and Black Night THREE TIMES 10. They sequenced a live album with songs that ended their sets multiple times, so several times in the middle of the album he says "Thanks, goodnight" which makes absolutely no fucking sense 11. It sounds bad So I can be fair to my dear speed kings from Deep Purple and, compared to Deep Purple in Rock, there is much more for me to enjoy here. But ultimately that is not saying much and I would much rather be listening to most other things (not including Sex Packets) Fav song: Space Truckin'
This sort of stadium, overly long, self indulgent, dad rock just bores me. At first I thought that the two hour long "deluxe" edition of this album on Spotify was the original and was going to give it one star as the sheer length of the tedium got very annoying. However, I realised that the original album was only an hour long, so it deserves a two.
Smoke on the water is een klassieker. Absoluut. FAVO: Highway Star, Smoke on the water
