good tunes. Bang A Gong always a toe-tapper.

Interesting how many of these albums are "genre defining" - makes sense given the list and how they would be considered some of the best albums of all time, but also weird to think "Glam Rock" was invented by one album

Only got halfway thru

This is the band that sings “Get it on” and I think some of the other songs on this album are better than that one.

Pleasant surprise again - doesn't sound dated at all, and some real top tracks.

Different in a good way

More 70s american pop rock, "the only culture"

Reminds me of David Bowie, with a little more guitar/rock edge. Definitely a 70's sound. Some good electric and acoustic playing.

Bang a Gong the most notable song. Nice album, T Rex just isn't my thing because it sounds like generic 70s rock. 6/10.

C’est original, mais pas vraiment mon gout. Un 3.5*

Fun to Jam, recognized some songs I didn't realize were T. Rex. Feels cool as hell, but only a few rise above better than average after two listens. It's a 3.5 I'm gonna need to round down.

cosmic dancer is a great tune, thought it was bowie

Some good tunes.

Wasn’t particularly memorable except for Bang A Gong. Nice background mood music.

Meh 6/10 mellow rock

Initial critique - Clearly influenced by the Beatles, not always in a positive way. Lyrics contrived in their whimsy. Blues guitar. Shades of bowie Not special. Final critique - 6.0/10 Nothing entirely original. May not have been the case at the original release of album. Great guitar tracks. Some really nice composition of songs but always sounded like it could have been a wannabe bowie song. Good music but not something I will seek again. Best tracks - monolith, ripoff*

Bang a Gong... So good, didn't even realize it was a T. Rex song. Rest of the album was fine and good but didn't blow me away.

Was fun enough. At times reminded me or marcys playground. Holly didn't like it

The classics are great but other songs washed over me

I recognized one of these jams. Cool album.

I have definitely heard some of these tracks, but never knew they were T. Rex. Another artist I'm aware of but haven't listened to much. I like it but not sure I'd listen to it on my own. Reminds me of a very subdued Queen, which makes sense considering T.Rex is considered Glam Rock. 3.5 rounded down to 3. It's a liiiiittle too poppy than I would like. I could see why some would rate it 4 or 5. Fav tracks: Monolith

As a rule of thumb, being glam rock isn't a great start if you're an album that wants to be appreciated. However, there's a definitely a couple of good songs here if you can sift through the rest of the drivel that makes up the bulk of the album.

Interesting but not memorable

A little disappointing but not bad.

Little bit off for my taste. I think it’s the singer’s voice that I just did not enjoy

Get it on gets it on, but I'm not hot on this

Ganz gut

Very beach rock / Beatles knock-off band. It was fine but really not what I normally listen to. Stop trying to make Jeepster happen.

More upbeat and happier than I anticipated from my previous exposure to T.Rex.

Nice! Quite groovy and rocky.

Easy listen, but nothing crazy imo. Enjoyed The Motivator and Get it On (ofc) the most. 6/10

Some bangers, but lots of filler for my taste.

all songs seems very similar

Not bad. I’m pretty sure the Bang a Gong song was on a commercial but I have no idea which one and it bothers me. I wasn’t a fan at first but it grew on me.

6/10 quite forgettable

Pretty good, has some excellent songs. Could use more energy and ocasionally lags a bit. Closer to a 3.5

2.4/5 A solid album that I enjoyed listening too, even though nothing really blew me away. Could see myself coming back to this one day.

This is pretty terrible. The lyrics are awful, full of lazy images and rhyme. The music is predictable and derivative. Nothing innovative or memorable at work here. Like a true T-Rex, it should have died long ago.

it's ok

This hasn't moved the needle for me on T Rex. Get It On, Life's a Gas, Hot Love are still songs I enjoy but there's a bit too much Doors-esque navel-gazing going on

506/1089 - Rudimentary and repetitive.

I think my fundamental problem is I don’t like Marc Bolan as a songwriter or vocalist, and that dislike goes harder than my enjoyment of the rock’n’roll boogie sound the band can get going when they’re doing something upbeat. I started out pretty high and then just brick by brick, especially after Bang A Gong onwards, my enjoyment went out the window and by the end I was just in a sort of permanent sigh and eye roll ready for it to be done. My Bolan tolerance just is not high enough for a full T. Rex album with its slower album tracks and all the rest, even if I can enjoy singles.

I can't place it but there's this odd feeling I get whenever I listen to this band. Like seeing an ill man have the time of his life. One of the most American, British bands out there.

If I was a teenager in the 70s, I probably would've enjoyed this. It's definitely of it's time and not really my thing. The guys voice was a bit annoying too.

not really for me but its alright

This feels like it took all the wrong lessons from a Beatles album or like a Mac demarco album but without the interesting guitar skills to make it really interesting

I feel like this album just isn’t for me. For instance I like the guitar and bass parts but something is off. I don’t know if it’s the vocalists or the lyrics but whatever it is stopped me from really getting into it. I honestly couldn’t finish the album due to this problem.

i would like to say it is a detailed album, as a piece of art should be. i like it but i don't know, i suppose i am feeling particularly horrible right now therefore i am looking for something melancholic? - based on the songs i did hear; i would revisit it and perhaps review this review lol

its fine. too slow. not for me.

Alla har ju hört Get it on.. men resten av albumet känns all over the place

Could have been an email

it's just okay. I only knew "get it on", which is a good song, I like it. but I didn't enjoyed the album too much

Get It On is a great song. I hoped the other songs rocked as well. But instead of it you get some boring songs that I really don't like. They sound like T. rex is a Soft Rock band instead of a Glam Rock band. So i'm a little disappointed about the lack of great songs on this album. 2/5

Years ago when listening to Bang a Gong i came to the realization that…i didn’t really care for it. That is, after the first 90 or so seconds. Once you hear the verse/chorus cycle a couple times, you’re like “okay i get it, and then what?” But it JUST. KEEPS. GOING. Other than that, most every other song didn’t really do it for me. There were a couple toward the end that i would consider going back to but most of it left me kind of bored.

Glam rock is really an odd odd thing. Wonder why it never really stuck around.

was very mid and soft, but the one song was good

Most over-hyped band ever 🦖🦖

Electric Warrior has genuine range — acoustic tenderness on "Cosmic Dancer," full glam stomp on "Bang a Gong," orchestral shimmer scattered throughout. Bolan clearly wasn't content to stay in one sonic corner, and that restlessness keeps the album from feeling like a one-trick pony. The production has a warmth to it that holds up, and you can hear why this thing landed the way it did in 1971. That said, warmth and variety only carry you so far. A lot of these tracks blur together after a while — the riffs are similar, the lyrical imagery runs on the same mythological-sexy-nonsense fuel, and Bolan's vocal delivery, charming at first, starts to feel like a tic more than a choice by the back half. It's an album that makes a strong first impression and a softer second one. So yeah — worth one solid listen, maybe two. It earns its reputation as a landmark more on historical terms than on pure staying power. Not bad, not transcendent. Exactly what a 3 out of 5 should feel like.

Heard the music without knowing the band. Not bad!

Chill music, but a bit mellow. Like something to lounge to. Nice for in the background but not something I would just put on to enjoy.

Didn’t get through the whole thing but it was fine. Another 70s boy bad that sounds the same.

Ich habe zu viele Live Cover Schunkel Stadtfest Bands gehört. Lalalalalalala (rep ad inf)

I can't really figure out why, but I just find this music annoying.

not for mee

I'm 4 tracks in and still don't care. Bang a gong is recognizable, the rest of this plays like a concept album of "Bowie, but what if he was boring?"

Not too bad, nothing worth saving

Its cool, its very of its time and theres nothing wrong with that. However, I will never gargle Mr Bolan as deeply as the UK press. Having said that, this album along with the majority of the big Glam movement sounds incredibly dated today and not always in a fine wine kind of way dated. This is not Salma Hayek at 53. Solid 3 star record.

Not a T-Rex fan, not for me.

Hmmm… stereotypical 70s tone and rhythm. Was not enough variation.

1 legendary song The rest was okay but didn’t blow my socks off 2-3/3

I enjoyed some of the more distinguished songs like Bang a Gong and Cosmic Dancer. Otherwise, everything else pretty boring or bland or both.

One great song. Not a good album.

not my style

very cool album cover, but the songs are pretty boring

meh didnt do much for me just felt repetitive as glam rock does

Not really my thing but it was ok.

Yeah that was a let down.

Fun, but quite samey. It felt like Get It On stretched over 40 minutes.

Never heard this before, other than the couple of singles. I'm not sure I really like this band, even though I know I'm "supposed" to. Get It On is... fine and that's the best song here. Mostly boring, sometimes even annoying. I can see this possibly growing on me a little with more effort, but didn't grab me at the moment. Maybe all of the iconography sets expectations too high.

Last song slapped tho

This album is the most boring white boy guitar stuff I've ever heard. Not completely unlistenable but I wouldn't choose to listen to it again on purpose.

saai van wat ik heb geluisterd. Ik heb niet het hele album geluisterd…

Nothing really stranding out from this album, wouldn't seek it out. Best song is Get It On, but just due to familiarity

Not my thing again

It’s kind of ok and then it’s not at the same time. Not for me!

mej skeptical pa 'ko sa ganitong genre pero maganda siya

The 70s version of mumble rap

Not really my bag but I liked the second half of the album. Rip off is a standout track tho!

It was alright, very different but somehow exactly the same as everything else Songs a bit boring, no interesting twists or melodies

I'm of two minds - Some of this was good! But I think this is the kind of music that isn't supposed to lose your focus and this very much lost my focus for most of the album, and it wasn't interesting enough for me to listen to again today. Maybe next year. Wild how popular it is in the UK and I'd never heard of even their top US single

Straight white man Rock'n'Roll. Every other song is just about 'some girl'. I am very bored. Melodies are unmemorable and to me there's nothing interesting happening here. If it played on the radio, I wouldn't switch the station but I won't go out of my way to listen to more. Taking another star off for stupid lyrics.

I am never impressed with this album. It sounds like a Rolling Stones album, I don’t really see why this band was adding to the conversation at that time. And I don’t really think that they wrote amazing songs either I did like rip off and life’s a gas. Daniel Gang is fine too, but it also reminds me of just how similar this band sounds to the Rolling Stones. I know I like it/it’s only rock ‘n’ roll came out after Daniel Gang, but I also don’t really know why I would listen to one over the other.

Não é muito meu estilo. Curti "Planet Queen". 1,5

Despite The Cure being my entry point as a music fan, I’ve never really cared that much about Smith’s whole look (nor the teased-out crew for the 85-93 line-up) and any androgyny I just kinda shrugged at. Like, cool man, do your thing! I’m just here for the tunes and maybe the girls who like the band. So goth having some roots in glam rock’s presentation and theatricality, likewise, fine, do your thing! Bowie is a space alien and his band are from Mars? Excellent, whatever works fellas. As such, Marc Bolan (and Slade, Roxy, etc) becoming just as known for the presentation, sometimes more, as the music, and doing a whole lot of 12-bar blues, but with some tricks in the mix, especially, the distorted guitars sitting low in mix compared to the kit and handclaps, whisper quiet, isolated vocals...it’s a cool sound...but oh well.

3/10 Bad. Not the type of music I usually listen to. (And for a good reason🧌)

Não curti muito não, mas estranhamente gostei bastante da música cosmic dancer

You can't plagiarise yourself... A few classics, and a more songs that sound a bit, or a lot like those classics but not as good. I think a best of T-Rex would suit me fine.

I'm not sure why exactly, I just didn't dig this one.

This band has never connected for me. “Jeeper” is perhaps the best of the lot.

Bang a gong is the only song I recognized and the only song I cared for. There were some notable moments of blues improvisations. But mostly a lot of the songs felt similar to each other and non of them ever got rhythmically complex.

Started off very strong for me, but ended up losing my interest towards the end of the album. not usually something i would listen to on my own but a couple of the songs i will definitely listen to again.

There was just nothing remotely exciting about this album. Like I feel like none of the songs had bridges, weird chords, fun instrumentation or time signatures. This was just 40 minutes of yet another 4 chords, 4/4 song. Nothing offensive but at a certain point I forgot I was listening to music.

not my vibe but very grunge

First artist so far that I don't recognise. Though I've heard at least a part of Get It On before. Some good stuff... time will tell if I will be going back to this album.

Slow mid, didn’t like it

Rock that leans into pop. The instrumentation is good, maybe a bit thin. The album is something nice to chill out a bit, though some tracks get a bit annoying.

I thought we were going somewhere cool from the first track but most of the rest just kind of dragged along…

Not the worst nor the best listen ever, didn't have acid to compliment the album otherwise it may have been a 3.5/4

This album was an audition reel for a new sound. A few made the cut as can be seen by the listen count, but many just didn't make it to the cook book

Decent background music i guess

A little bit more low-key than I was expecting from a "glam rock" album, but given that this band was apparently originally a folk band maybe I shouldn't be surprised. Would have appreciated a bit more of a pulse on some of the songs, honestly most of them were rather forgettable.

Early 70s rock, an era I am not that interested in; this album did nothing to change that.

Wasn’t bad but it didn’t blow me away. The music was good enough but lacked something to be desired as it felt rather boring and derivative. Another likely one and done listen.

I knew of T. Rex because of the iconic Electric Warrior album art, and I had heard "Bang a Gong (Get iIt On)" before, but I otherwise went into this blind. The band alters between folky, bluesy, and pop rock styles, occasionally adding in some psychedelic tendencies. Outside of "Bang a Gong", there wasn't much for me here. I found it all very underwhelming. I don't get the hype.

Just a bit dull !

Some memorable songs which you probably already know (Jeepster, Get it on) but the rest is quite forgettable.

I don't know how most of these songs end because they all contained some lyric or vocal tic that was so toe-curlingly embarrassing that I stopped listening. When I did finish them they didn't go anywhere anyway. Two stars because Get It On is a pretty good song

It's kinda like discount Beatles, it's alright

For an album called *Electric Warrior*, this is some of the most restrained rock 'n' roll ever committed to vinyl. Electric guitars are kept safely in check and, aside from the closing track "Rip Off", Marc Bolan's vocals are essentially sedate throughout. This hushed approach *sometimes* works (especially on the stronger numbers like "Get It On" and "Jeepster") but on the weaker tracks it doesn't conjure up a mysterious or seductive mood (or whatever they were aiming for), instead it ends up sounding narcoticized.

Not into this one at all. Very same-y sounding 70s rock made by hippies

mei chatao

Totally fine. Faded into the background pretty consistently for me. I think I knew Bang a Gong, but maybe it was just in a generic car commercial 10 years ago. Neither liked nor disliked.

Album was fine, no takeaways for me and I wasn't crazy about it. Bang a Gong is still popular to this day, but aside from that nothing really stuck out to me

A pretty straight ahead rock record. Pretty cool, but a bit repetitive, and I don't know if it fully holds up. Get It On is a great song though.

I knew this was the "Bang a Gong" band by the guitar tone in the first song. The whole album felt like it was circling the "Bang a Gong" drain. I say meh. Will not be listening to this album again.

it was boring to listen. could go back again.

I didn't recognize the name and didn't see the release year, so I wasn't too impressed until I heard Bang A Gong and realized it was an early influencer on this widely mimicked sound. Paid a bit more attention to the second half and found myself enjoying it more than the first.

Of course I am familiar with the 'big hits' on here. Given my age how could I not be? My musical journey started around the time of Bolan's death but the music was still all over the radio. My thoughts at the time were of a band with a few fun tunes but no real desire to ever listen to an album. Having listened to this now, I still hold to that. 'T-Rex is important to the development of Glam Rock'. Fair enough, I can't argue with that. It doesn't mean I like this, though, and that's what I am ranking albums on. It gets a 'historically important' 2/5 from me.

Decent, singles were great, rest of the album was very samey

inget speciellt

Trex again already?? I thought I was gonna get this one but this first three track run is rough. Jeepster for your love is horrific. I just really don't enjoy his vocal delivery throughout this whole thing. Even bang a gong was just okay. For me this is a really talented and rhythmic guitar player who just can not string together an enjoyable vocal performance. Almost every complaint I have about this album is "alright we've been grooving on the same little blues riff for a little too long, why is Marc Bolan moaning again?" This album will continue to be the one with that one song that's in every movie trailer for me sadly.

I found the album to be pretty mid.. Very cliche and predictable throughout, but not a terrible listen. Due to the high expectations I've placed on the list, I'm rating it a 2.

73/1089 6 songs in and i recognise Get It On of course, definitely the best so far i think. it was a fine album but just really not for me, it all blended together and didn’t speak to me personally. This style isn’t my kind of music and there are much better examples of it 2 stars or 21/100

I mean, Get It On is a classic song and rightly so, but I'm not sure the rest of the album measures up to that standard, frankly.

It was ok, but it bored me.

Had the album playing in the background at work. Can't say it really grabbed my attention but it wasn't painful to listen to.

Kind of bored rock and roll.

AHHHH. AHHHHH OH GOD NO AHHHHHH ITS A DINOSAUR AHHHHH HE UHHH actually he’s riding a swan. What the hell? This guy is dapper as hell. He’s got a top hat? Is that a? A tattooed gown? This Dino is loaded! Hey man, spare some change? AHHH OH GOD HE ONLY HAS DINAR FROM THE FORMER YUGOSLAV REPUBLIC AAAAHHHH THIS IS NOT ACCEPTED IN MOST OF THE REGION AND IS ESSENTIALLY VALUELESS AFTER YEARS OF HYPERINFLATION AAAAHHHHH NOOOO. Oh wait a second. That’s not a dinosaur. It’s famous rock album Electric Warrior by the BAND T Rex. I’ve made a fool of myself. Mambo Sun - With a song title that expertly weaves two horrible concepts into a little ball of cringe, I’m surprised this as enjoyable as it is. Cosmic Dancer - I was Dunce-ing when I was those ages too. They brought back the whole hat and corner concept after I mistakenly referred to the study of animal behaviours as “bestiality.” Proud to have been a part of the tradition returning. Again, somehow more enjoyable than it has any right to be. Jeepster - Oh yeah. This is what I play every time I get into my Jeep (Honda Fit). I show up at Jeep rallies with my obvious jeep and say things like “how many inaccessible bogs you tear this baby through?” And then I slap my car’s hood and say “Oh yeah I conquered Festoon Lagoon last week in this here jeep. I’m a HUGE jeepster.” I was physically assaulted in Tucson last year. Two men left in tears. Ugh this song is the worst so far. Monolith - Shuddering beneath the cold granite. Bloodshot eyes weighed down with consequence. Bask in the aura of ages. Like the source of all life, gazing directly upon the monolith is enough for cessation of all life. The curiosity overwhelms, the earth opens up into a ravenous yawning maw. Jewelled eyes glow their last as life crumbles around the books where this was written. Clairvoyant prophecies. Human error erased. Lean Woman Blues - A firm endorsement of “Fat Bottomed Girls years before it’s time. Get It On - One of the two T. Rex songs I’ve heard before this fateful day and it still hits pretty hard. Loved it as a wee guy and it still holds up as a cool pop rock song to this day. Planet Queen - Ughhh this is sort of jumping the shark for me. Girl - Now Fonzie has been caught in mid air and is being disemboweled by the shark in question. The cameras keep rolling as Happy Days has taken a miserable turn. Sunday, Monday Shark Attack. Tuesday Wednesday biker themed funeral. They had to do two days because of the recovery effort. Not much was left of Fonzie. RIP. The Motivator - This is Get it On with somehow more sexual moaning and a weird didgeridoo outro. So a BETTER version. Life’s a Gas - Lynyrd Skynyrd and Lou Reed had a baby and the baby was the product of infidelity and shares no traits with Lynyrd Skynyrd at its core but has also picked up some of its mannerisms by osmosis. Rip Off - Oh were rockin’ now. For some reason we needed to interrupt the serene calm of this record and my perfectly rational reviewing skills with screaming heard outside some particularly contentious Arby’s locations. HEY PAL. YOU CALL THIS “EXTRA MEAT?” This one may be a grower as it didn’t knock me on my ass this time around. I know how much reverence this album conjures in musical nerd circles but it just didn’t blow me away. It hits my ears as dumb glam rock that occasionally has a soft or sweet moment. The lyrics were more boring than I had hoped considering we’ve got former “Mother of Invention” members on this thing. This is a true monument to the death of the 60s and the beginning of boring sex culture that overtook the radical protests and drug-induced psychotic breaks that coloured the very colourful previous decade. Time marches on. Hey, now everything is described using therapy buzzwords while all products are designed to fail in order to enrich an increasingly shrinking group of people resulting in a growing homelessness problem worldwide. What was I talking about? This album was meh. 2.5 HIGHLIGHTS: Mambo Sun, Get it On, Life’s a Gas

pos esta guay, fuera de mi zona de confort diaria, agradable de escuchar, con royo bailongo pero tranquilo a la vez.

Production wise, this album sounds fantastic. This is like Black Keys level production and that was 30 something years later. But, the songwriting doesn’t do anything for me? The songs don’t really go anywhere they just sound nice. Not much to say I just don’t connect with it tbh.

Best Song: Get It On. It's fun, the brass is bombastic, and the line "Get it on, bang a gong" goes hard. Worst Song: Girl. Wasn't a big fan of the do-do-do-do-do-dos. Overall: Largely forgettable dadrock. As inoffensive as it is unexciting.

Just ok

Servicable glam. Get It On an obvious banger, but this album is let down by being far too long and dotted with tracks where Marc Bolan seems to be trying to channel David Bowie and is all the weaker for it.

It was fine ig. Wasn't really into it. Awesome band name tho. Best song: Get It On Notable(s): None :\

Ok just finished this album and I’m not a fan of this group at all it wasn’t easy too finish listening to this album , but I’m glad I herd it and I want try a different album of theirs if anyone can recommend before I close them off .

kinda boring

Merkelig album. Virker lite gjennomtenkt, men noen høydepunkter innimellom.

Liked the groove but not so much the voice.

This is alright, but I don't really hear anything that sets it apart from other middling British blues rock. The track "Jeepster" seems like it's trying to incorporate an American/Country influence and falls flat to me.

Couple of cool singles but overall not really my thing

pas si mal mais pas trop bien non plus

Nije mi bio ništa poseban, “get it on” je s razlogom najjača njihova pjesma no ostale s albuma su mi bile cisti mehh. Najbolje su mi bile “Cosmic dancer” i "The King of the Mountain Cometh".

Another early 70's album by a group I haven't heard of. I would have been okay with having never heard it.

For all of the fluff T Rex seems to get, I found this utterly underwhelming

Hell. 2/5

I liked knowing the “big hit” song. That was a fun surprise. I wish we were stoned while listening. 3/10

I think this is relatively lame. I don't get it.

Generic rock

Why do all early rock albums just sound the same, regardless of country of origin?

It was ok. Enjoyed the first half, became bored with it in the second half

I liked this enough but I could not focus on it, always faded into the background & I tried twice. I want to judge these albums harder because they’re supposedly ones I need to hear before I die but that’s too harsh; not like the bands are saying that about themselves. Well maybe Oasis would. That said…I have to listen to all the Beatles albums, did we really need this & other “stepping stone” albums? This was fine

Kind of a boring to mid album.

Meh. Bland. Nothing I found remarkable.

A lot more boring than I expected.

I think it’s cool at times and also boring at times

Not sure how to describe the lyrics. I didn't hate it. It was just ok.

It improves it to picture the whole thing as a concept album - the wedding of two uninteresting people, all feathered hair and dancing the hustle slightly off beat, then the purchase of a split level with shag carpeting that always smells of cigarette smoke and mold, the birth of their lumpen offspring and a montage of school pictures with closed eyes and crooked teeth, the divorce, the awkward reunion in the Tab aisle of Safeway.

Not my cup of tea

This is just ok. Ziggy Stardust for the skating rink. 2/5

A couple of classic songs and some mediocre. Not enough to lift it to more than two stars.

I didn't really like this one. Not that it was objectively bad, but it's really just not my cup of tea. It's a kind of early glam, kind of album, with a lot of blues inspiration. And that's what I don't like about it. Glam sometimes tends to be just a big nothing to me. They don't really sing, more like talk to the music. And the music isn't all that interesting, just fairly straightforward. Again, I'm sure some people really love this stuff, but I didn't.

Pretty standard glam rock album. Had some stand out hits but was overall pretty monotone

Boring

Not bad but nothing great

ts lowk pmo icl

Pretty chill, easy listening rock music. Nothing really jumped out at me Favourite Track: Bang a Gong (Get it on) 2.5/5

Not bad, but not my cup of tea, I thought it was a little samey and repetitive. Jeepster was a bop though!

Okay. Lyrics were a little flat and I thought the instrumentation made me more interested in the folk sound they had on previous releases.

A little better than the other T. Rex album I got but still a little underwhelming.

bang a gong, and the a lot of other crappy 70s music.

Nothing noteworthy about this one. Just generic 70s rock. I literally put it on and didn't realize it had ended 40 minutes later.

I'm real tired of mediocrity.

never heard of t. rex if i’m being honest. pleasantly surprised! a bit of a psychedelic type beatles vibe to it. not my favourite but still cool. 3.25/5

I know of T-Rex but I haven’t spent any time with any of their albums. I was curious to see what Electric Warrior was all about. Not crazy about Cosmic Dancer or Jeepster. First part of the album is slow going. Do know Bang a Gong (Get It On). Fine song that gets lots of FM radio play. Back half of the album is pretty bland. Nothing on here grabs my attention. There is a meme of Colin Farrell shrugging his shoulders. Not sure what movie it is from. That’s how Electric Warrior makes me feel. Just a shrug of the shoulders. No real substance. Just blah. If this was the beginning of glam, I’m just not seeing it. Found this quite silly and lame actually. Electric Warrior does nothing for me. This is a 2 rating. 2/5

прикольненько Mambo Sun, Planet Queen та Rip Off більше всього зайшли але подібна музика не зовсім моє

I'm sure I'm not in the minority when I say this, but the only T. Rex song I know is "Bang a Gong," which is a fantastic song (for what it's worth, The Power Station version is great too). I know T. Rex are pioneers in British glam rock, so while I think I have a decent idea of what to expect from this album, I'm not sure if I'm going to like it or not. There's only one way to find out! While I can appreciate the influence of this album, I didn't really enjoy listening to it. At first, I really liked the sultry and hushed vocals, but as the album went on, that singing started to wear on me. The guitar playing was pretty good, but it really didn't vary much over the course of the album, and the drumming and bass didn't really add much to the sound. The more this album went on, the more of a chore it felt like, as I didn't really feel like T. Rex explored the space they were creating with their sound. "Bang a Gong," is still great, and it definitely stands out on this album. I love the saxophone playing and Marc Bolan's vocals are perfectly suited for it. Other than "Bang a Gong," I thought "Jeepster" was pretty good; it had a rockabilly sound to it that I thought worked really well, and it stood out from the rest of these songs. Even though I didn't care for this album that much, I'm hoping that The Slider is much better.

Pretty repetitive lyrically within each track, but the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Never having heard glam rock before, I expected it to be a little heavier. Favorite track: Mambo Sun

Mycket låter samma

Outside of "Bang a Gong" there's really nothing noteworthy here for me. The stripped down sluggish vocals weren't doing it for me.

I'm conflicted. I want to give this a 2 or a 4 or maybe a 3? I have no idea. On its own, it's a solid 2. There are a few good tracks. Bang a Gong is fun and Rip Off really saves the album though a bit too late. The rest isn't bad, just trite. But then again, it's trite because this band's influence runs deep and this is the first album they really found that new sound so maybe it's actually pioneering? I think I'm rating more on my personal enjoyment of the music more than anything so I'm going with a 2 in that front though as a historical album it's interesting and could deserve a 4.

I go back & forth on this one. or I only like about every other track. mambo, bang a gong, motivator, & rip off best tracks (and really good). others more of a snooze-especially when he moves to the falsetto

I've never really seen the appeal of T Rex. The songwriting half the time (like Get it On, Hot Love) is pretty lazy and uninspiring 12-bar stuff with equally lazy lyrics. The rest of the time I can't get past Bolan's vocals. Songs like Cosmic Dancer are plain silly but there doesn't seem to be any irony in the delivery which just makes it annoying.

Really bland and overstayed its welcome.

No es. No sé cómo pudo ser música estos ensayos de garabato, bueno, en fin, hay gente ya con la mente retorcida con estos sketch.

was alright

A few solid songs, Bang a Gong namely, but other than a few solid tracks the album was overall meh. If you're into this kind of music you'll like it, but not for me.

Song: Get it on this song is good it kind of reminds me of Fourth of July i do not know why it just gives me summer vibes i like it though this song would be like a 4 stars Song: planet queen this song is good again but just a little country for my opinion and then it just gives me like spring mixed like summer it gives me both of those vibes this is like a 3 stars Song: motivator This song is okay but for some reason it also gives me July vibes i do not know why this whole album is giving me summer vibes but i like it i would rate this song like a 3 stars maybe or maybe 2 stars and this album was slow and the same beat and like it was the same theme every time

What is happening on the cover? "Get it on bang a gong" was okay. It wasn't my favorite song but I would listen to it if I have too. It was kind of slow and boring and old. "Planet Queen" was better. It was much more upbeat in my opinion and I liked it a lot better. "The motivater" was also better then the first song. Overall this album was just okay so I would rate it 3 stars and I would not reccomend this song to anyone becuase it is boring and basic.

Overall, that was an unexciting album. Bang a Gong was the best song by far.

Fine. One big classic. Glam rock. Straight down the middle of enjoyment.

Meh, feel like once you've heard one T Rex album your heard them all. They definitely have their own sound, can immediately tell it's them. As I've said before, not sure what other bands even count as glam rock. That sound is defined by putting together about three riffs in various combinations though. Didn't hate it but would never go back.

Probably marginally better than the previous album, The Slider, but not by much. Get it On is decent, but I swear I thought I heard it multiple times before it came on.

Not my thing. Songs are too similar and I don't dig the sound.

One good song and it’s probably overplayed

This is just intentionally listening to all the adverts of my (90s UK) childhood.

It was ok - some classics on there - Solid but unremarkable

Pretty boring glam rock.

Gave this a 2 on my other account

Actually quite enjoyable. Cosmic Dancer and Get it On stood out to me the most. I definitely do not see myself listening to the whole album again and some of the songs are already forgotten but it’s not bad

Kinda meh, second half especially didn’t connect with me

This takes me back to early high school and its not a pretty memory. Sounds so dated now, that canned pop music sound. Reminds me a bit of The Sweet, but funkier. No better than a 2

Never heard about T.rex Didn't have a bad time listening to it, wasnt't moved either Good voice 2.5

Oh not another Marc Bolan album, there are certain vocalists, Morrissey being another that I can't get past their voice to listen to the music as a whole. And that it appears is where I'm at with Bolan with his flaccid form, oh how the critics love it and I’m sure the young girls swooned in 71. As said, Just cannot get past that languid vocals and that's the main essence of his sound. It’s the equivalent of having no backbone, everything just falls flat, he’s singing a song about dancing and it sounds like he couldn’t get up off the floor, say dance. The album title, and guitarist in front of the big amp on the cover, even the band name, who are you trying to kid. As I said on another of his albums on here much rather have his songs sung by others. So maybe there are some good songs on here but I just really, like really dislike his feel and sound. 2 star, but if I have to hear anymore it will be zero.

Meh. Just fine.

2.5 It’s whatever. I’m missing context obviously as to why it was important. The singer’s voice is annoying and I only like 3 songs

1 good song

It sounded alright, but not something I see myself going back to.

Hey this is the bang a gong record, neat. First and foremost I do not like the vocal style employed on this album, the vast majority is this weird breathy throaty speak singing that I just can’t enjoy. Musically I think this is a pretty big standard bluesy rock n roll album straight out of the 70’s. There’s some extremely obvious Beatles influences going on, which doesn’t do a lot for me. It’s fine, but nothing at all to write home about. I really struggle to find anything more to say about this album. 2.5* but I feel so strongly that it doesn’t deserve 3* that I’m going to round down for once.

I don't love t. Rex

Pretty ok…perfect description

Never been the biggest T. Rex fan. I've always found their music pretty pedestrian 70's rock. Bang a Gong is a decent song, but the rest are very meh. Don't hate it, but don't really like it either.

Not for me! Can’t say I’m excited by 1970s rock. Get It On a certified smash though.

Me gustaron mas los B- sides que la mayoria de canciones acá. Esta bastante ok el album, tiene varias canciones decentes pero la mayoria simplemente no me llegan tanto. Pero un buen álbum. Total del album: 68, casi 3 estrellas

I'm pretty uninspired by this album, minus the wonderful track: Bang a Gong, which I love.

Not bad, but not great. Bang a Gong (Get It On) is definitely the highlight of the album, the rest of it is not terribly interesting. 2.25 stars. I'll round down to 2.

Went in one ear and out the other. Mostly a pleasant and inoffensive listen, definitely something you could put on while driving and have a good time, but that's the extent of its merit. The only moment that stuck with me after the album was over is the very ending of the last song, Rip Off, when the music dissolves into noise and guitar feedback, which made for an interesting auditive experience. The rest of the album is just by the book 70s glam rock (which also might be because this was one of the pioneering works of the genre, alas I am not a music historian so I don't care about that) and the tracks ranged from borderline interesting to straight-up unremarkable. Nothing that David Bowie doesn't do a thousand times better. 5/10

Really not a fan of glam rock in general now that I’m no longer right.

Just ok for me.

It's fine 2.25

A little generic but otherwise enjoyable. Fav Track: Cosmic Dancer

Eh, a very average listen. Really just kind of boring and nothing really stands out. Vocals are a less good Bowie, the music is pretty slow and repetitive as well. 5/10 (2.5/5)

It's fine. A couple that I'd heard before without thinking I needed to dig deeper. Best: Get It On. Worst: It's A Gas, Rip Off 2.5/5

Not bad but simultaneously quite boring 4 / 10

Generic 70s rock. Few bangers but mostly sound the same.

It was whatever

Liked it better when I was younger.

Boomer rock for cool dads

Okay album but only got half through it in truth 4/10

So first suggestion by 1001 Albums...

Yet another boring rock album.

This album has a lack of fuel in the engine. I tried many times, but I just don't get it with T. Rex.

I really love 70s rock, but this album is just OK. It’s repetitive and not a fan of the singing style. It’s one that I think I would have liked more if I heard it when it first came out. Bang a Gong is clearly the best song on the album, and almost sounds like a different band wrote and performed it. That’s even more true with It’s a Rip-off - it’s like someone finally got them in the studio when they weren’t on shrooms (but maybe on uppers?). Also, what did “bang a gong” actually mean in the UK in 1971? 2.5-ish⭐️ (but I’ll round down)

You can bang the gong all you like, it still won't make me dig the rest of the album....

Add this to the “one big song so the album should be on the list” list. 3/10

Not my thing.

The only song I have heard of by T. Rex is Bang a Gong. That was after hearing The Power Stations remake. I am still much more of a fan of later version. I also had heard T. Rex was a pre-glam band who influenced many like Bowie and The New York Dolls. I feel many of the songs need a bit more of an aggressive approach. Much like Robert Palmer gave to Bang a Gong. Feels like they are holding back a bit. That being said, it was an enjoyable album.

marc bolan is just not for me

A little on the boring side for me with a few ok tracks. Will I listen to again: 0%

Ok some hits

just boring most of the time

Except for 'Get it on' I didn't really get it on for this

Not overly catchy or interesting. Cosmic Dancer best track

Had promise but i quickly become bored with the melody. All it did was drive me to want to listen to CCR in the end.

Listened Before? N It was okay. I think the author is a bit hung up on 1970s British rock, because this is yet another one that doesn't stand out. The big hit off the album (Bang a Gong) is severely overplayed in the US, so I can only imagine how overplayed it is in England. Anyway, just sorta generic. Added to Library? N Songs added to playlist: Cosmic Dancer

One of the weakest starts of a rock album I've ever heard, had to abort the listen The vocalist in particular is really underperforming, and the mix makes it even worse

Wasnt feeling this album besides for 3 songs

It is fine.

pretty standard blues rock. Nothing too special, drummer and bass player are probably more bored than me.

Marvin’s version of “Get It On” is better.

decent 2. I just like, the songs are chill i guess like i can mess with the vibe but sometimes they really draw out. like its a 4 minute song playing the same shit with like the chorus 4 times with no other buildup. what saves it is how chill this genre is and some catchy parts in some of the songs 1. Mambo Sun 2. Life's a Gas 3. Cosmic Dancer

Get It On is a great song, but the rest of the album lacks the energy and catchiness that their one hit song emotes. This is an okay album, but not one I’ll likely come back to. T. Rex will be relegated to one hit wonders in my book.

Drags.

Gitarrenpop der 60er. Gut zum nebenherhören. Nichts besonderes

Just meh.

Look, this albums fine, that’s not the problem. What’s wrong is that the last 5 albums I’ve gotten are calmer ones. Look, all I’m asking for is just please give me something, anything that isn’t classic rock, hell I’d be fine with jazz.

Only knew it as the album with "Get it on" on it. I did not know what to expect. It's good! Especially the production - which is perfectly ballanced between pretty and raw. I can hear how influential theese ideas and sounds has been to so many artists - way too many to mention here! As a classical album compared to other classics i will rate it 2. As an album compared to other albums i will rate it 5. stand out tracks: Mambo Sun Cosmic Dancer Monolith Planet Queen

It sure is fine!

This didn't do much for me. Not bad, but not compelling.

Wack. 3/10

Não tava na vibe

Walmart David Bowie

Åh hvor er det dog kedeligt... Men det et sikkert fordi jeg har lyttet til alt det som de har været med til at få frem i lyset. Kommer aldrig til at lytte til den her igen.

4.5/10

I didn't really like this one. All songs are bland and hollow sounding. Half of the songs sound like weird versions of "Bang a Gong" but worse. The other half sound like garbage versions of the worst Beatles songs. Songs like "One After 909" that use basic blues scales that went over well in the 60's to fill album space like but sound like something that you would hear a beginners garage band attempt nowadays. Boring album that is outdated imo. 2/5

4/10 low end of mid. Nothing of note

Lean woman blues Bang a gong The motivator Feels like the set list that woulda played at my dad’s prom. And the crowd went mild. Really just doesn’t do anything for me.
