Popular Reviews

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós

I have no idea what they are singing about but I loved this already years ago... Great album

Apocalypse Dudes by Turbonegro

Yay, Turbonegro! Really good album from. First track, the age of pamparius, is sucking you into the next 54 mins. Probably their best album. I was surprised to find it on the list but it quite makes sense.

1-Star Albums (2)

All Ratings (959)

Foo Fighters by Foo Fighters
Dec 25 2023

Love the Foo Fighters. Good Album!

The Velvet Underground by The Velvet Underground
Dec 27 2023

Never really listened to the Velvet Underground. Like the album and how calm it is. A bit psychedelic at the end, alltogether a good start to explore more albums of them.

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Dec 28 2023

I like the style. Only knew a few songs so far.

Cross by Justice
Jan 01 2024

Usually not my genre but this is a good album. I remember the hit singles which I might have heard a bit too often back then and was surprised that for me there wasn't a song on it where I felt the need to skip.

Eliminator by ZZ Top
Jan 02 2024

If you love their hits you'll love this album.

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Jan 03 2024

To me personally this album came as a nice surprise. I knew „Son of a preacherman“, but that’s about it. While listening I recognized one song of the album, so basically all songs were pretty new to me. She has a great voice and there’s some nice variety between songs regarding style and mood. Good album!

Bert Jansch by Bert Jansch
Jan 04 2024

Somehow I’ve never heard of Bert Jansch before. Quite interesting album, before even reading more about him I thought „sounds a bit like Donovan“ whom he influenced, according to Wikipedia. I understand why it is on the list and am happy to have discovered this artist!

Melodrama by Lorde
Jan 05 2024

I knew one hit of her, but this is surprisingly good. Basically every song from the beginning to the end. She does have a great voice; it’s worth listening to more than once.

Guero by Beck
Jan 08 2024

Good album by Beck!

Jan 09 2024

James Brown. Sex Machine. Did not know many songs besides that one, and even though that one is a hit, it never occured to me to listen to an entire album of him. After listening to it and reading a bit about it, it seems this live album is a good place to start. You can hear and feel that he was a great musician and - nice touch since it’s a live album - that the audience was exctatic about it which adds to the atmosphere.

Mama's Gun by Erykah Badu
Jan 10 2024

It's probably just not my type of music and unfair but I find this pretty boring.

Arrival by ABBA
Jan 11 2024

„Oh no, not ABBA, I can’t listen to that, heard them so many times on the radio“ where my thoughts. I never listened to an album by them and was positively surprised after hearing it. I’m not gonna listen to it again probably, but from the first song on it just is good, easy-to-listen-to pop music. And I was surprised that I knew half the songs without having listened to that album before, just a sign of how famous and often played they are.

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Jan 14 2024

This was surprisingly great. I only knew one song and didn't even know the band really, but I liked it very much from the beginning to the end.

Pictures At An Exhibition by Emerson, Lake & Palmer
Jan 15 2024

Interesting. Did not know them before - after listening to this album I think I know why. It just isn’t my kind of music. The beginning was quite interesting (oh, live; oh, do I hear an organ?) but it then turned out to be just too experimental and „noisy“ for me. I found it in party extremely exhausting to listen to. This might be unfair, it might have been groundbreaking at the time, but I don’t really like it. I read a bit about the band and am always happy to listen to things I usually would not listen to, so I do not regret it, but this album was the hardest to fully listen to so far for me.

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Jan 16 2024

Two songs I knew before, didn't know the artist though. It is a good album alltogether and I enjoyed listening to it. Some of the songs might as well be part of a Tarantino Soundtrack :)

Apocalypse Dudes by Turbonegro
Jan 17 2024

Yay, Turbonegro! Really good album from. First track, the age of pamparius, is sucking you into the next 54 mins. Probably their best album. I was surprised to find it on the list but it quite makes sense.

Birth Of The Cool by Miles Davis
Jan 19 2024

I am sure it is a great album, but it's just not my cup of tea.

Appetite For Destruction by Guns N' Roses
Jan 20 2024

Surprisingly good. I am not a fan, know some songs (how could I not) and have to say that I did not regret listening to a full album.

Sound Affects by The Jam
Jan 21 2024

Okay. I really like "that's entertainment".

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Jan 22 2024

Nice, but nothing special.

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
Jan 23 2024
Walking Wounded by Everything But The Girl
Jan 25 2024

OK, easy to listen to, but I don't really understand why it is on this list.

Gasoline Alley by Rod Stewart
Jan 26 2024

I just am not the biggest fan of his voice. In some songs it works for me, in others not so much. One day after listening to this there's nothing special about this album that I can remember.

The Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest
Jan 28 2024

Didn't know them. Great album. I really like this old school rap that isn't just about cars, drugs, hoes and Gucci.

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jan 30 2024

Not my favorite album by RHCP but still... Some awesome songs on it.

LP1 by FKA twigs
Jan 31 2024

Surprisingly good!

Feb 01 2024

Good Album. Reminds me of The Distillers. Somehow never listened to Hole before but I like the style and Courtney Loves Voice here.

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Feb 02 2024
Neon Bible by Arcade Fire
Feb 03 2024

Love all their albums.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Feb 06 2024

For an album on this list a bit too boring for me, sorry!

Joan Baez by Joan Baez
Feb 08 2024

Not bad but not really my taste

Timeless by Goldie
Feb 09 2024

Wow. This was a tough one to listen through. 2 hours of a genre that I do not really like. But: I tried! I sat through it. Don't judge it by its shitty cover I said to myself. But it didn't catch me at all. I found it rather boring and uninspired. Plus, extra annoying, the unnecessary long tracks. It actually did feel like torture after a while. At least parts of it could be played in an elevator, which is not a compliment. Might be important for the genre but it just isn't good in my opinion, sorry.

Fetch The Bolt Cutters by Fiona Apple
Feb 12 2024

Never heard this before and it for sure has some great songs on it.

1984 by Van Halen
Feb 13 2024
Risque by CHIC
Feb 15 2024

Sometimes I am surprised by the fact how old some songs already are. Not exactly my style here but it is a good album.

Fever Ray by Fever Ray
Feb 16 2024

Liked it back then, still like it.

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Feb 17 2024

While a few songs are bangers I remembered that even back then I only listened to those. Whole album, nah.

Ready To Die by The Notorious B.I.G.
Feb 25 2024

Well... Dunno. Beats, style, all good. But skits and lyrics, not my thing. So since I am not an OG I only give 3/5.

Feb 27 2024

Hmmmmmm some great songs, some did not click. Might have to listen again. Great artist in general.

Picture Book by Simply Red
Feb 28 2024

Don't really understand why this is on the list. It is not bad, but... Mainly boring.

Never heard of this. Interesting find. Liked it.

Tidal by Fiona Apple
Mar 12 2024
Immigrés by Youssou N'Dour
Mar 13 2024

Awesome. Something different, I like it.

Hot Buttered Soul by Isaac Hayes
Mar 14 2024

12 Minute long first song here I come... Good vibes but not entirely great until the end I'd say. But difficult to rate. A song like walk on by is just crazy. Especially when knowing it is from 1969.

Fuzzy by Grant Lee Buffalo
Mar 15 2024

This is a really good album. Completely unknown to me but I enjoyed it from the beginning to the end.

Kind Of Blue by Miles Davis
Mar 16 2024

I understand that this is a great record for it's genre and maybe music in general... But it partially gets a bit annoying while listening to it.

461 Ocean Boulevard by Eric Clapton
Mar 18 2024

Some great songs. Unfortunately I cannot seperate the music from the musician here... And I do not like him as a person.

Solid Air by John Martyn
Mar 21 2024

Solid Air is a Solid Record

Be by Common
Mar 22 2024
Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Mar 23 2024

Not as great as I thought it was. Still good though. Somehow only ever listened to the albums that followed.

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Mar 31 2024

I give it 3/5 but it feels like some of the lyrics are outdated and... sad, in retrospective.

The Doors by The Doors
Apr 03 2024

Great from the first to the last song.

Play by Moby
Apr 04 2024

Liked it back then, now... It's okay!

Cool. Only knew 2 songs before but this is quite good.

Heroes by David Bowie
Apr 16 2024
Heavy Weather by Weather Report
Apr 21 2024

Very hard to rate. It's just not really my music.

Crazysexycool by TLC
Apr 22 2024

The only word that really comes to mind while I listened to this: boring. Not bad, but boring.

Ágætis Byrjun by Sigur Rós
Apr 23 2024

I have no idea what they are singing about but I loved this already years ago... Great album

In It For The Money by Supergrass
Apr 24 2024

Listened to it twice. Some good songs but alltogether it's just a 3 for me.

School's Out by Alice Cooper
Apr 25 2024

Of course I knew the first song. Test of the album felt quite different, I liked it!

Liege And Lief by Fairport Convention
Apr 26 2024

Quite nice and surprisingly short.

Either Or by Elliott Smith
Apr 27 2024

Pleasant surprise, will listen to more of him.

The United States Of America by The United States Of America
Apr 28 2024

Interesteting Album. Not my favorite but for sure not as bad as some reviews say. It was something different and I enjoyed listening to it... Even with the circus theme 😁

Tuesday Night Music Club by Sheryl Crow
Apr 29 2024

Good album! Only knew one song. Not interesting /good enough for me to be on this list but enjoyed listening to it.

Usually like this kind of music but found this quite boring, sorry.

The Visitors by ABBA
May 02 2024

Hmm not bad but would not listen again.

The Infotainment Scan by The Fall
May 03 2024

Album cover and title are really the worst. The album itself I kind of liked. Didn't know The Fall before so it was an interesting discovery.

Some good tracks, some parts for me hard to listen to.

I was not ready for this. Parts of it are just too exhausting to listen to.

Ghosteen by Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds

May 17 2024

Too bad it's not on Spotify. I would listen to this more often, really interesting music.

Playing With Fire by Spacemen 3
May 23 2024

Wanted to give it 2/5 at first but got into it after a while. I needed the right setting for this though (walk just after it rained after after a long workday).

Let Love Rule by Lenny Kravitz
May 26 2024

It's quite all right but I do not understand why it is on this list.

Oar by Alexander 'Skip' Spence

Horses by Patti Smith
Jun 19 2024
Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Jun 21 2024

It might be groundbreaking for the time but I found it quite annoying, sorry.

Moss Side Story by Barry Adamson
Jun 27 2024

I don't know why people have a problem with the fact that it is a concept album. I was positively surprised and thought it sounded quite timeless. Don't know if it should be on this list though.

Cupid & Psyche 85 by Scritti Politti
Jul 01 2024

Didn't find it that bad but I cannot justify 3/5 compared to other ratings I gave. Not sure if it should be on the list.

Shaft by Isaac Hayes
Jul 03 2024

Is this an album or an EP?

1999 by Prince
Jul 07 2024

Quite interesting. Nothing I'd actively put on so nice that I got to listen to it. .

Like A Prayer by Madonna
Jul 08 2024

I usually do not listen to Madonna but thought that this might be a good album since Like a Prayer no doubt is a great song. I was however not too excited about it, so I’ll give it 3/5.

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jul 09 2024

Around the World this album could Easily Get On Top of many people’s lists. Even in a Parallel Universe or the Otherside it is considered to be awesome not only when Road Trippin’! Right on Time another 5/5 on the 1001 list.

Dirt by Alice In Chains

Elephant by The White Stripes

Space Ritual by Hawkwind
Sep 11 2024

This was some crazy stuff. I kind of liked it but it's just a bit too long.

Sep 12 2024

„Right Here, Right Now“, „The Rockafeller Skank“ and „Praise You“ are great songs. I did not enjoy the rest of the album that much. Too repetitive and sometimes even annoying, and what the hell is the idea behind the lyrics of „Fucking in Heaven“? Sounds like a child just learned a new word it’s not supposed to say.

Architecture And Morality by Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark
Sep 15 2024

Quite interesting sometimes. Never heard of them and yet I knew their song Joan of Arc from the radio.

Imagine by John Lennon
Sep 16 2024
Bummed by Happy Mondays
Sep 22 2024
Sep 23 2024

Got two Happy Monday albums in a row and hope the second was the last one. It's not bad, but I don't know what they are doing on this list.

Opus Dei by Laibach
Oct 02 2024

Wild. Didn't know this band and I think this is quite entertaining and even amusing. Might have to do with the fact that I understand the lyrics - in German, sung with accent by a Slovenian. I'll give it 3/5.

Shleep by Robert Wyatt
Oct 16 2024

I did not know Robert Wyatt, I saw the album cover and thought: this might be something great. Oh boy was I wrong.

Justified by Justin Timberlake
Oct 17 2024

Oh no. Is it, pun intended, Justified that this one is on the list? I don't think so. This is pure torture and was one of the hardest to go through with so far. Oof. 2/5 only because of Cry me a River and Rock your Body which are great pop songs imho.

1989 by Taylor Swift
Oct 18 2024

I am not am fan and don't understand the hype but have to admit that this is a good album.

Bitches Brew by Miles Davis
Oct 23 2024

I am sure it is great...but very exhausting to listen to

Juju by Siouxsie And The Banshees
Oct 31 2024
Nov 09 2024

Listened to this as a teenager. I remember that even back then I did not like some of the songs and did not like the skits. Still do not like the skits and the lyrics are... Well, typcial for the genre but questionable. I'll give it 3/5 because of the classic The Real Slim Shady, Stan and The Way I am.

Did not really enjoy this except for the classic "Nuthin but a G Thang". I don't think it aged well.

Dare! by The Human League
Dec 22 2024
The Slim Shady LP by Eminem
Jan 06 2025

I listened to Eminem when I was a teenager... I still like his voice and flow, and some songs are still fun. But then again there are so many questionable lyrics, I cannot ignore that when rating this album. Especially '97 Bonnie & Clyde - who likes to listen to this sick shit? What was the point of it? You hate your ex wife, we get it. Times were different back then, sure. But even then there was no need to be homophobic, mysogen or to glorify violence. 3/5 is therefore the max I can give.

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Jan 08 2025

It is kind of nice but also kind of boring.

Jan 12 2025

This is one of these albums that is quite hard to rate. I'll be honest, to me this sounds like background-music, nothing someone active listens to. I am not the biggest fan of electronic music but don't dislike it, at the same time I couldn't tell if this is good, groundbreaking for the genre or whatever. I didn't dislike it but would not listen to it again.

Harvest by Neil Young
Jun 07 2025
Murmur by R.E.M.
Jun 08 2025
To Pimp A Butterfly by Kendrick Lamar
Jun 19 2025

I do occasionally listen to rap and gave this a fair chance, knowing its reputation. Over in-ear headphones, it felt overwhelming and almost stressful to me – Kendrick’s vocal delivery just didn’t connect. But after re-listening to key tracks on speakers, the production really opened up and I could appreciate the musical depth more. Still, the skits and spoken word parts pulled me out repeatedly. In the end, it’s not really my kind of album, but I can respect the ambition. 3 out of 5.

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey

RIP, Ozzy.

Jul 29 2025

I never knew that there is one U2 album containing so many of their hits. Great songs, I have to give this 5/5.

Dec 14 2025

Well... I cannot seperate the artist from his actions. Read about that after I had listened to most of the album already. Otherwise I would have thought about listening to it at all. He won't receive much from my stream but do I want to stream music of such a plesasnt person? Not really. The music itself: Hard to rate for me, might have ended up with 3/5 but do not want to give it a second listen.
