Reviews (page 6 of 13)
I find that CCR is one of those bands whose songs are better off mixed in with other songs, but even when listening to an entire album, it's not bad, just a bit much.
it’s crazy how soulful this band is. influences of blues and r&b mixed with folk. very good!
Great album,
A really nice listen.
It's a nice album. Musically, it is kinda simple, but the songwriting makes this simplicity effective. This album has a 60's vibe I enjoy. I don't think I'll revisit this album soon, except for a couple of tracks. It could be a fun road trip album. fav tracks: Green River, Wrote a Song for Everybody, Lodi, Bad Moon Rising. 4/5
Just great rock/folk music. No standouts but everything sounds great
Интересный, самобытный коллектив с качественным альбомом. 7 из 10.
Great album. Loved the organ component.
Pretty great
Wemmer eis lied vo Creedence Clearwater Revival könnt, könnt mer basicly scho alli. Das, wel sie adoch relativ ähnlech töned. Das esch aber ned wörk e schlächti Sach, wels au öppis esch wo sie au chönd. So chönds no e entspannti Atmosphäre erzüge. Trotzdem wörd es bez Abwächslig i dem Albom au ned schade. Ergendeinisch werds de cho au es bez eitönig was sie vo 5 Stärne trennt.
gud
There's a bathroom on the right
I remember listening to this on cassette tape while smoking the smallest roaches and being part of a money conspiracy while trying to get my rug back. Night Time is the Right Time is a nice bluesy doowap type song (turns out it was a cover). Overall, had a good time. Lotta hits!
Classic
Classic album, amazing songwriting. Almost plays like a compilation of hits. Hard to believe how hit-dense these guys were. This dude will always abide Creedence.
This is truly an amazing album. Almost every song is a classic. I listened to CCR a lot in my younger days; and the musical protests and social critique are apt for today’s stormy social climate. Today, I don’t think I’d listen through the whole album by choice (much less repeat it every few days) — Fogerty’s iconic vocals grate on my nerves a little. With much respect to the songwriting and performance, this is now a 4 for me.
This was a fun album
Nunca tinha ouvido e me deixou no chão, canção totalmente elétrica. "I can hear the bullfrog callin' me!" 4/5
Good
This was really great all the way through! Had me pick up a guitar and try to play Bad Moon Rising.
It’s so hard not to love this album. CCR’s sound is so distinct and iconic that it’s really an all or nothing proposition and I’m all in personally. The coarse vocals and soaring guitars are pure rock and I thought this album is a great smattering of songs that gives you a clear idea of what CCR is all about. At 29 minutes long, it’s almost a bit too short for my liking but enjoyable all the way through. Favorite songs include Green River and Bad Moon Rising
Bangers on bangers
9/10
Was good. Not my favorite of CCR. Also, the live tracks at the end really ruined the vibe for me.
When simplicity becomes excellence. Great album.
CCR was an influential band, and not just for their ability to mainstream "Swamp Rock"
The second of three splendid albums released in 1969 (!) you read that right CCR released 3 albums (all splendid & shit) in 1969, two of which are on this 10001 list! Even though CCR never knocked my knee-high sox off I have long admired what a tight and to the point band they were (not a wasted note to be found) and forever are the undisputed kings of swamp rock. Yup. Three albums. One year. 1969.
Easy listening and very enjoyable, as expected for CCR.
Great album. 4*
entertaining!!
It’s good those are all my thoughts
CCR, not much else really needs to be said. Very distinctive sound and kind of a mix between rock and country. I enjoyed hearing some stuff beyond their big hits and how the tones changed throughout but the sound stayed the same.
3.5
Another one of those albums that could be a Greatest Hits if you didn't know better. Dang it was short, though.
sure
CCR, one of my favorite band ever. My first 45 was Suzie Q. So many great tunes, Great album.
I quite liked it. The songs sounded the same but that wasn’t a bad thing. Overall: 4/5
I noticed from Lodi on that Fogerty’s vocals followed the music so much the lyrics were hard to hear. Very echoing bass of the era. Solid album.
I always loved I Wrote a Song For Everyone. Good mix of hits and album tracks.
As always, Creedence is just incredible music. I love it. There were some songs I knew here, and some songs I didn't. It was a pleasure to listen.
Tombstone shadow going crazy in the bass and guitar, song is so catchy. Catchy album, each song has its own really catchy guitar riff, or bass groove. Didn't think I was gonna enjoy this one as much as I did.
RCC oikein hyvä
Solid. Not the best CCR album we’ve had (that would be Cosmo’s Factory) but still really solid. Great palate cleanser from Venom earlier this morning.
American 60s rock ’n roll. Driving, stomping rock. Bluesy. A really good time.
All time classic. Have listened to a bit and would definitely listen to it through again.
This is very easy listening and easy to enjoy.
Solid CCR album. Good variety in songs
Absolute belter - want to drive down the highway with the wind in my hair.
I listened to a lot of creedence in high school and university alongside all of my 90s music. I loved it when it was on. I even went to see creedence (minus John) with my girlfriend’s dad who was also called John. Anyways. Putting this album on brought me right back and the songs are distinct and great.
Good album very sexy
Fav tracks: Green river , Bad moon rising , lodi , sinster purpose, The night time is the right time, All the songs are solid with some superb standouts. Loved the extended versions instrumentals, Broken Spoke Shuffle and Glory Be fun riffs. Added to Album list
CCR is a classic rock group that works.
Not my fave CCR but they are all HEAT. Fogerty rules - love his weird southern fried imagination
Volim ovaj album! Lodi mi je najdraža stvar, a Baš Moon Rising je onako, legendarna stvar. 4/5, 8/10
I listened to this album while doing some chores. It made doing them more enjoyable.
Ok, I love the genre name "swamp rock" for this. I see the swamp rock tag on this album and I think "yes, it certainly is." Perfectly evocative. Stylistically Green River is a little outside my wheelhouse but I do think it's a very good work, and "Bad Moon Rising" is perfect.
Familiar classic.
Very much a classic record. I don't know if I consider it inspired or inspiring, it's a bit derivative of some of the other stuff that was going on in the south at that time, but it's fun to listen to, and it's aged well.
This was a good album that really helped open me up to southern and blues rock. For anyone who really enjoys classic rock, this is definitely a good album to check out.
Phenomenal vibes throughout. Great album.
This is really good. “Wrote a Song for Everyone,” obviously “Bad Moon Rising,” Sinister Purpose, and Glory Be are my favorites. Also really like the live Suzy Q on the deluxe. I feel like I’ll revisit this again.
Solid CCR album containing my favorite song of theirs, Lodi. As with all CCR albums, there’s a mix of country rockers and songs that are more blues based. It’s the rockers like the title song and Bad Moon Rising, minor hits of their time, that I prefer.
I've actually heard a few songs off of this album, so my expectations were high. Considering it's Creedence Clearwater Revival, I should have known they'd absolutely be met. This is definitely one of my favourite bands of all time. They're one of those artists that just managed to encapsulate the spirit of the time so well, but also left such a mark in the history of music that they influenced generations of artists to come. Loved this album and I can see myself listening over and over and over again whenever I feel like I need to experience that specific feeling of nostalgia.
I keep coming back to this album
John Fogerty's vocals are iconic and this album is a joy from start to finish.
it was really good, not a genre i would typically listen too though :)
This struck me better than the last CCR album we listened to. Bit more stripped back and old-timey.
Groovy, nostalgic, and overall solid
bad moon rising was good
Well, another incredible CCR album. Enjoyed all of it, front to back.
Classic. Tight guitars
The album is good, a classic. But kind of similar feeling in all songs and reminds me of vietnam war movies.
A little too blues-heavy, but CCR is gonna CCR. Excellent album nonetheless.
Good fun listen
Very chill and relaxed. Quite enjoyable.
Green River is a collection of very good, but not excellent, CCR tunes, I wouldn't say there are clear standouts. It's my least listened to CCR album besides Mardi Gras, but it's still a great time. As with most of their music, it's simultaneously of its era and timeless and it's full of their personality and character that you'd expect It's maybe not as diverse as Cosmo's Factory and Willy and the Poor Boys, they focus mostly on their characteristic swampy sound. This is probably them at their most CCR, if that makes sense I don't think I would ever really choose to put on Bad Moon Rising, it's a good song but it's like a national anthem for my hometown and you hear it in every bar and at nearly every function so I'm a bit tired of it Highlights: Green River, Commotion, Sinister Purpose
Green River +1, Bad Moon Rising +1, such a unique fun style
Kelpo musisointia, muutama kohokohta. Ei pahaa sanottavaa.
always great
Solid creedence, maybe not necessary with the other albums of them we have on here but I guess the creators wanted Bad Moon Rising.
This was a very good album that had the bad luck of closely following a better CCR album. "Green River", "Bad Moon Rising" and "Lodi" are all rightly considered classics but the ambition and scale of some of the longer Cosmo's Factory tracks were missing here. Would do a 4.5 if possible.
I listened to this while getting ready for work. It rocked.
ок
Love CCR
2nd of 3 killer album they released in 1969 alone, it has "Green River", "Bad Moon Rising", and "Lodi" and all that and more coming in at under 30 minutes is a feat of unbelievable tightness.
Are these guys the ultimate American rock and roll band? If not, they’re up there.
Only the 3rd 4 star album, c'mon there are hundreds. Stop with the rubbish
Solid classic bluegrass
Another Creedence album is always welcome. Although its songs I have heard many times before its still great and I will continue listening in years to come.
Overall, the whole album is a vibe. Some nice instrumentation and a classic feel. Not my preferred style, but there are definitely some hits. The instrumental songs in the expanded version are more interesting than any of the other tracks though lol. I keep trying to actively listen but the songs just slide off my brain and before I know it, the album is over. Pleasant listen though.
This album is a classic for a reason. Every song is enjoyable and blends together nicely.
Good album all around. Just a great rock project that some of the songs I will be returning too. There is good spectrum of calming rock music to music your 50 year old dad would play while drunk😂. This shit is tuff good ass vocals and amazing instrumentals with their guitars. But my only flaw is some of the songs the vocals can be mad annoying which are usually the higher energy tracks. Fav tracks include Bad Moon Rising, Lodi and Broken Spoke Shuffle. 8.4/10 4.2/5
Kind of taken aback by how much I enjoyed this album. Good songs all the way through and a lot «rougher» than I expected. Cross-Tie Walker could have been a Cramps song, while Sinister Purpose wouldn’t sound out of place on a Hellacopters album
This is a really good album. It has some of CCR's biggest and best known songs in Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, and the title song. In addition, the non-hits are strong as well. I was already familiar with this album and I would listen to it again any time.
Maybe the most Boomer band ever, but I neglected them unfairly. This was a super solid record. No other band sounds like CCR, that alone puts them on many lists
Absolute classic album full of timeless bangers, sing-alongs, and all around perfect pieces of production
1) Green River - Guitar is good/bull frog line is fire 2) Commotion - drums/guitar to start song are fantastic 3) Tombstone Shadow - Fantastic 4) Wrote a Song for Everyone - Classic 5) Bad Moon Rising - Classic 6) Lodi - Classic 7) Cross-Tie Walker - good song but probably least favorite on album 8) Sinister Purpose - Good 9) The Night Time is the Right Time - Great finish/ like the solo mid song
This album was good, I had only listened to Green River and Bad Moon Rising before. I liked the other songs but the whole album sounds very similar so it kind of made it hard to listen to the whole thing straight though
Enjoyable album, plenty of great tracks to listen too.
I love CCR’s loose, bar band, country-tinged sound. They get played to death on classic rock radio but they are good enough to still be fun to listen to despite that. Not every song on here works but most do. A great album.
Love it
True American Rock. Some of the truest. Birth of rockabilly? My longstanding distaste for Fogertery being over turned here. The bluesy licks of Tombstone Shawdow were pleasing to fresh ears. Wrote a song for Everyone hit hard this time. Simple songs, done very well
Not mind-blowing or anything but I don't really have any notes either – very solid, classic rock album.
7/10
I don't think I've ever listened to a proper CCR album before. They've always been a singles and greatest hits type band to me. This one is great.
I think John Fogerty has the best voice for any southern rock band, only really second maybe to Lynyrd Skynyrd. He’s got that energy that’s you would hear from the likes of Led Zeppelin while retaining that southern influence without sounding like a complete country bumpkin. He’s definitely the main reason why CCR is so revered even today. As for this album, I struggled what I really thought about it. Outside of Bad Moon Rising, I never really heard the rest of these songs. I think the back half is stronger than the front half, mainly thanks to Lodi and yes, Bad Moon Rising. But there’s enough substance here that I enjoyed it. I feel my actual rating is more 3.5 than 4, but I think I’m okay with rounding it. Favorite track: Bad Moon Rising Other hits: Lodi, Wrote A Song For Everyone, Sinister Purpose, Commotion
What a great album, there's so much energy and emotion on here. Stylistically, this is a blend of classic rock, blues and country, all with a southern twist. While researching the album I saw it described as swamp rock/blues, which is as good as description as any. Listening to this is like sitting in a saloon, drinking whiskey, and telling stories with your friends. You are completely transported to a different time and place. The album is crawling with great guitar riffs, rhythms and lyrics, pretty much every song is great, you would struggle to find a subpar song on here. This, combined with the somewhat typical album length for that time period of just under 30 minutes, provides a quality album through and through. There are also some really nice blues solos. The vocals of John Fogerty have such a great color and raspiness to them, they fit into the music and themes absolutely perfectly. This one is definitely going into the favorites as an occasional listen.
Doesn't have their biggest hits, but this is the sound of classic rock radio.
Love me some CCR
Really great album. I like the songs, also the less famous ones.
Excellent album
It's definitely Credence. I can't help but love them...
Really enjoy the sound. The blend of guitars, drums and voice work really well. They leave space for imagination to work.
Love me some CCR. This is a great album, maybe my favorite of theirs. Favorites are the title track, Tombstone Shadow, Wrote A Song For Everyone, and of course Bad Moon Rising.
Songs of my youth!
This is the third CCR album I've gotten on this list (there are only three CCR albums on the list) and, still, none of them have been "Willy and the Poor Boys". The omission is frustrating, but not my gripe with this pick. I don't mind this album. It certainly isn't better than "Willy and the Poor Boys", but it's close. Very close. No bad tracks on here, no huge improvements from the previous album they had released less than year prior. I'm not sure, but maybe they would have benefited from delaying a release to really work these songs out and make something truly special. I don't know. The instrumentation, vocals, and production all complement each other very well. It's fun. I like it a lot. Great work boys. 4/5
As this project wears on, I've learned that 60s CCR was pretty legit, but 70s CCR sort of becomes self-parody at a certain point. This may seem to be an insane thing to say about a band who released *FIVE* studio albums in 1969 and 1970, but it makes sense if you think about it. They clearly were gonna run out of steam doing that. Fortunately, all of Green River is well before that; they're really clicking here.
something i appreciate about Creedence Clearwater Revival: short album lengths. their longest record is 42 minutes long and it doesn't waste a second of it. in the case of "Green River", when you've got the title track and "Bad Moon Rising" on your album, you really don't need much else. 28 minutes is fine -- people get it. still, i do feel like the album's missing a certain something. i like "Wrote a Song for Everyone" almost as much as the big hits and "Lodi" isn't half bad either. still, the more standard, bluesier cuts miss the sparkle that makes something like "Bad Moon Rising" shine like veneers. i wouldn't have minded a 7 minute jam all that much to round out the record instead of "The Night Time Is the Right Time". at least it can be pressed at 45 RPM on modern reissues and keep higher fidelity, right? ...33 RPM, huh? cripes, why do we waste vinyl like this?
This is a good one. 4/5
Oh lord, CCR again!
Great 60s 70s music
Classic and catchy swamp rock. A pretty good listen; no "wow" moments or songs, but consistently good throughout. Par for the CCR course. Top tracks: Wrote A Song For Everyone, Cross-Tie Walker, The Night Time Is The Right Time
Неплохой альбом, достаточно классически для меня звучащий. Очень известная песня Bad moon rising. Остальные слышала возможно впервые
Excellent!
A classic. Fogherty kills it.
Great album
Creedence Clearwater Revival - Green River Really great country and blues album coming from CCR. Very consistent and fun to listen to, with songs having a nostalgic feel to it, as well as it being super catchy to hear. Overall, this is great! 1.- Green River = 8/10 2.- Commotion = 9/10 3.- Tombstone Shadow = 7/10 4.- Wrote A Song For Everyone = 8/10 5.- Bad Moon Rising = 9/10 6.- Lodi = 9/10 7.- Cross-Tie Walker = 7/10 8.- Sinister Purpose = 9/10 9.- The Night Time Is The Right Time = 9/10 FINAL SCORE: 8.3/10
Really enjoyed this one. I of course knew bad moon rising, but new discoveries which I really liked were sinister purpose and wrote a song for everyone
Great! Would listen again
I gotta say this album goes hard.
Classic CCR sound.
I’ve mostly given up writing reviews but this album was good.
own
Great album! Short, great songs, everything worked!
It's CCR.
This is a classic album that has some huge hits on it.
super chill to listen to during work
I was looking forward to discovering some nice deep cuts, but no — you’ve got the three awesome songs everyone knows, and the rest is kinda filler. Also, I think CCR is a band best enjoyed one song at a time — the sound gets a little old when you sit through an album. Still pretty good though!
I give it a foi outta foive
Short and sweet. Simple but fun. Great riffs, great vocals, great vibes. Doesn't have any sort of "wow" effect, but it does what it tries to do well.
Solid folk album.
I wasn't going to listen to this album due to life getting in the way yesterday, but Sant's review convinced me. Always liked Bad Moon Rising and CCR feels good to listen to. Probably shouldn't factor into my review, but I also enjoyed the sub-30-minute album
This is the 2nd of 3 albums that CCR released in 1969. To my ears there's nothing on this album that's a dud. That is a staggering amount of music, more than some bands can create in 6 or 7 years. My hats off to CCR just for that! The album sounds great, I love the drums. Vocals are on point too. Really enjoyed this, not just for the hits, but everything here was worth it.
Great Stuff!
Would listen again. :)
Great album. Good vocals guitar and rhythm.
Swampy!!
Very American nostalgia vibes. Took me back to ‘Nam
theyre always pretty fun, we love our scratchiest-singing-of-the-60s
Enjoyed this
pelastuksen päivät siunaavat kansakuntaa
One of those albums where I listen and go “woah! This is why they’re so important!” Rollicking good time the whole way throughout. Seriously have to investigate wtf was up with these guys inventing swamp rock in the east bay — LFG obviously. Sounds so good.
Cool twang, nice rustic vibes. Bad moon rising best here.
It's hard to dislike Creedence. This one starts off a bit slow for me, but side 2 is packed with jams.
Solid
It's a CCR album so obviously I'm going to like it - but there was a lack of energy from this album that I've felt in other CCR albums like in Cosmo's Factory. I still love their sound - but it felt like that they were phoning this one in.
Very Vietnam war sound. Only finished the first half
Pretty solid. Gotta love the sound, even if it is a bit one-note. More classics for a good reason.
so cool like a american old car some of pony or smth
Not a perfect album, but a really good album with a few perfect songs. 4 stars
Never gets old. 8/10
I mean it’s CCR what else is there to say
Some classic "Classic Rock". Pretty good stuff.
I remember having the Bayou album by CCR earlier and it was a pretty rough listen, but this one is much better. Hard to say what specifically changed for this album as they were not a band for very long. It does help that only one track lasts over the 4 minute mark, and that one long one is probably my least favorite--a little Fogarty goes a long way. It is hard to pick one favorite out of the lot. I didn't expect Lodi to be the one stuck in my head afterwards and there are a lot of familiar and catchy tunes that really bring out the woodsy-creek bayou settings. Very visual songs playing. Favorite track "Bad Moon Rising" 4/5
Good. Not sure if I'm at that point in my life yet though.
This album has so much going for it. CCR pretty much at the height of their career and they leave no crumbs.
Very good, but not as many standout tracks as I'd hoped for
Great album. Surprisingly powerful Americana music for a quartet of Californians.
Lodi was a new song I fw
CCR LFG!!!!! Bad Moon Rising obviously a perennial fav but I hadn’t really listened to many of the others. This was exactly what I needed for my Sunday evening chores and reset.
This is my first time listening to Creesence Clearwater Revival. Listening conditions: Leg day gym I really enjoyed the first part of the album. Maybe not the best suited for how I’m listening to it, but I really enjoyed Green River and Commotion. I don’t really have a detailed review. I saved this album because I enjoyed it a lot and will probably give it another listen when I’m feeling this vibe. 4.5 for me but I’m reserving the 5 for a real goodie
Always a good time
Really good album! I had heard the classics from the Greatest Hit comp, but there was more really good stuff on here.
first listen so many bonafide classics on this
Uplifting tunes, makes winter in london bearable.
Thoughts before listening: One thing this project has taught me is that the music that resonates with me the most is just simple, catchy rock n roll...just like CCR. This is one of the band's classic albums with a killer title track and plenty of other recognizable songs. This will be a fun listen. Review: I mean this is basically a greatest hits album for CCR full of their 60s style rock meets country/rockabilly influences sound. So many of these songs have become iconic on classic rock radio and there really isn't a bad song on here. My personal favorites are "Commotion", "Lodi" and "Wrote a Song for Everyone" but the title track and "Bad Moon Rising" are probably more well known. Overall its a great album, and since I've already given CCR a 5-star rating for Cosmo's Factory, this one gets 4-stars.
have always loved their sound, this album was no different
not the greatest album of all time but its chill vibes. there will always be a bathroom on the right. fun fact: i actually got stuck in lodi on a field trip with my junior high orchestra.
Old school CCR
Great classic rock vibe
This album relieved a lot of my anxiety. I went for a drive while super stressed and put this on and it made my whole day better. Love CCR
My first CCR album. Up until this point, I only knew the hits. I never knew that they were this good.
Great
Classicz
Always amazing that CCR's discography runs a cool 4 years. Sue me, I sound too much like John Fogerty.
Another one where it's hard to get past the baggage, but I'm happy I listened. So much rawer than I remembered. And what about those instrumentals?
They'd reach their peak on Cosmo's Factory, but this album still has plenty of great tracks like green river and lodi.
Why do I feel like I need to ride in a fan boat NOW?
What a songwriter, what a voice.
4.5
Green River is an immediate groove. Southern Blues Rock at its most basic. Outside the singles, I don't know that I love this album, but the title track and Bad Moon Rising are both definitively hits.
I would smile if someone put this on at a barbeque but that someone probably wouldn't be me.
Americana machines. They had the voices, the lyrics, and the twangy, jangly guitar licks to transport you to the set of Dazed and Confused. This album is the softer side of CCR, a little more ‘residing within the bounds of the genre’ but not at all underwhelming.
gives off a nostalgic 1969 feel, reminiscent of albums such as Abbey Road
That's more like it. Unlike the last album I reviewed, it's an album I enjoyed. There are classics like "Bad Moon Rising" on "Green River". This is the album with most of CCR's hits. Even the two bonus tracks are good. 4 stars for "Green River".
great late 60s country/blues/rock, includes "Bad Moon Rising" and the fab voice of John Fogerty
It's a toe-tapping breeze of an album, even if not everything is of the same quality as "Bad Moon Rising." Still, it's a good time.
Solid
CCR. Great band from the 60’s- 70’s. Great songs, that still sound awesome today.
I love me some CCR so Green River is right up my street. I previously gave Bayou Country and Cosmo's Factory 5/5, this one doesn't get there but it's a strong 4, has a few well-known songs on it but I adore Wrote a Song for Everyone, while The Night Time Is the Right Time is a strong cover done well. John Fogerty is one of rock's greatest ever vocalists and he's on form here as ever; this is what evocative 60s rock should sound like, not some psychedelic bollocks.
It’s a good album
Looking back I gave their other album on here a 5. Wonder what my mindset was at the time. While this is good and probably my fave Americana type album on here, plus Bad Moon Rising is a banger, it doesn’t quite get there for me
Не, ну ладно, неплохо. Четверка в сторону тройки. Название группы им бы поменять.
A classic album full of great songs
The Good: CCR! The Bad: bands that are recognized by their initials alone… The Ugly: Another acronym band used this album’s name as a reference… What? Who in their right mind would not give this album 4*+? -Someone who prefers techno music! -Someone who hates the ‘60s! -Someone who doesn’t like rock n roll music! -Someone who has a phobia for rivers… I am not one of the above.
I can't wait to listen to this again when it's 98 degrees outside instead of in the day of the first major snowfall of the year
They had the best run of 5 albums of the late 60's and early 70's
Yeah. Good. Simpsons: Yes
Good stuff, these guys have some top albums.
In a year where they released 3 albums in a single year there was obviously a lot of fluff. However you still have some all time great songs like Lodi on this one that makes it 4 stars.
Musically this is a 5 star all day. But the album cover is SO bad that I had to take a star away.
1st album of the 1001 albums. It's overall a great listen and pleasing to the ears, but well it isnt perfect . 4/5
Legends.
Green River and Bad Moon Rising are the hits for a reason, but this album is really solid throughout
For the love of music! 4
норм. подойдет для поездки на машине или приготовления еды
Creedence have a real ‘girth’ to their music through the singer’s voice I don’t know how to describe it but I do like his voice… in doses. But this is a dose, the album’s less than half an hour. It’s good 4/5, none of it gets to have you ever seen the rain quality but I like it.
There are CCR singles so magnificent that they've entered public consciousness, and then there's "Lodi", the band's greatest song, in my opinion, for it is them at their bluesiest, and thus at their most real and most beautiful. This is a brilliant rock album, no doubt about it, and "Lodi" shines right at its center.
What if this just ends up being my favorite band I mean come the fuck on
10/10
Great music, great sound and feel, and songs. Shame it’s less than 30 mins but it does a lot in the time.
I would be a god-forsaken sin-filled liar if I said I was a huge fan of Country Music, although Creedwater Clearance Resuscitation strikes a nice balance with their country/rock sound that is literally and figuratively music to my ears. Gotta turn it up for Bad Moon Rising, which is one of their most popular songs, although like herding sheep, you can't neglect Green River, Wrote a Song For Everyone, and The Night Time is the Right Time, as some other notable tracks. As an aside, the last two tracks sounded a lot like Led Zeppelin's debut album (in a good way), they did release in the same year, and are probably both quite defining of that time period.
Love CCR and John Fogerty. Sure, maybe some of these songs blend together and sound similar but it's their sound. 8/10 (4/5)
Some classic southern rock right here. Hard not to just jam along when CCR is on. They do definitely have a style that they stick to so I'm not going 5, but it's definitely a 4.5 with half stars.
these guys know how to write the hits
More classic childhood road trip radio.

Oooooh Greeen rivah
Another great CCR album that brings a couple huge hits and plenty of other soulful country-rock tunes along with them. This is the second of the three ‘69 albums for me during this project, looking forward to the other!
catchy tunes even if you can't understand half the words Standout: Wrote a song for everyone
3.78
Wrote a Song for Everyone and Bad Moon Rising are classics. Everything else is okay
While it isn't the best rock record I've ever heard, nor is it life-altering or groundbreaking, its just damn good all the way through. These guys have a ton of talent and each track, whether it is well known or not, is flowing with the unique identity of CCR.
This is my third CCR album in less than a month and these guys are just consistently good. Quick easy listen with great singles and good deep cuts too. I don’t think this is as good as Bayou Country or Cosmo’s Factory. Favorite tracks were Green River, Wrote A Song For Everyone, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi, and The Night Time Is The Right Time.
Great Album, Good Length and can easily played as a whole without any needs to skip a song. Perfect for Roadtrippin and drivin through warm weather!
Green River flew by, though that's probably it's short for an album with it being just under 30 minutes in length. It's probably more of an EP than an album really. Anyway, it has some songs I consider to be pretty iconic CCR songs, like the eponymous Green River and Bad Moon Rising. Most of the other songs are pretty good as well, though I didn't care much for Commotion at all. A good old bit of classic hard rock.
Pre-listening thoughts: u know what’s crazy? At work today, I turned on a random playlist I had made and the second song to play was Bad Moon Rising. And I was like no freaking way that song is on today’s album! Post/during listening thoughts: this is so me when there’s a bathroom on the right. CCR has a nice genre blend of country, folk, and rock and it’s executed really well. The vocal reverb is kinda insane like I wonder why there’s so much of it. Tombstone Shadow, Cross Tie Walker, and The Night Time is the Right Time: don’t think I didn’t catch your basic ass 12 bar blues form. Wrote a Song for Everyone reminds me of something and I cannot for the life of me place it. I think this is a great album overall like not much else to say I suppose 7.5/10 DID I NEED TO HEAR THIS BEFORE I DIE: nah Fav tracks: Green River, Wrote a Song for Everyone, Bad Moon Rising, Lodi Least fav tracks:
Good stuff! A few songs I recognised on this, but the rest were just as good 4 ⭐️
Classic rock. A good short album, lots of good songs, but a few felt too samey which I feel is just the band.
Quite like this CCR album, more so than the last one I reviewed. And it has the classics Bad moon rising. 4/5
Love me some good old fashioned CCR. The Vibe: When your cool uncle gets the aux at the family barbeque.
7.5/10
Sian - really like this one and probably will listen to it again Deb - helped me to relax, liked this but it wasn't My favourite Actual score 3.5 - Deb 3, Sian 4
Did CCR ever have a bad album? Seriously though. I’ve heard three now, and none of them are even mediocre. They only had seven total, so I’m guessing they’re just that good. The band knows their sound and, by the time they hit this album, had absolutely mastered it. They, to me, are the epitome of their sound and genre, at least in the popular and mainstream sphere. Fogerty’s voice really just lends itself to the grit and raw energy in each song. Even when the songs are a bit less intense in tone (think “Bad Moon Rising” or “Lodi,” he’s able to retain what’s great about his voice while also removing the grit at the same time. He maybe only sung a certain genre, but he had range within it that was overlooked. It’s a shame that most (including myself) don’t know the names of the other band members of CCR, because they’re damn good. If I had more than one day with this album, I definitely would figure that out. But I don’t and so on we go. Four stars. Standout Tracks: Green River, Commotion, Tombstone Shadow, Bad Moon Rising, Sinister Purpose, The Night Time is the Right Time
Great album
I expected this one to be very good and it was exactly as expected.
Me encanta el olor a napalm por la mañana
This is #day64 of my #1001albumsyoumusthearbeforeyoudiechallenge, and... "where were you while we were getting high?" (c) Well, we were getting high on the music! Hailing from San Francisco, Creedence is a perfect paragon of discipline and devotion. They went further and made a pact that they would do no drugs or alcohol. The results? Green River is the second of 3 (three!) albums they released that year. And the year was 1969, if you know what I mean. While the title track and Bad Moon Rising are the obvious gems, the whole album is a smooth, bluesy rock journey. Not too long, not too short, straight up to the point. This is a well-deserved 4 out of 5. Looking forward to #day65.
I didn't realise Bad Moon Rising was so short. It's one of the more enjoyable oldies I used to play in a band. The rest of the album is also enjoyable.
Decent album, a bit short
Writing three fantastic records in the span of a year is insane. I especially love this one. During Covid lock downs, I would play Bad Moon Rising on the guitar for my kids over and over again while they danced.
10/8/24. CCR is very solid, songs are well crafted and easy to listen. Catchy without feeling tacky.
It was calming and good while studying which is probably when Im gonna be listening to these albums
Not their best album on this list, still a lot to like though
Great album but again didn’t enjoy final song
😊
4.4
Not much to say. It's solid. I enjoyed listening to it.
Just a good damn good album, especially for the late 60’s.
Great album, almost a five. A few classics, a few I haven't heard. Green river is the best on the album which means it is all downhill from the start though
Top Classic 8/10 Toptitel: Sinister Purpose
Pretty good
It's great! If I hadn't heard it a million times I would have loved it :)
Enjoyed listening, some of the tracks a bit monotonous to my ear.
CCR is one of this bands you can instantly recognize by their sound, I don't think I know of any artist that sounds quite like them. They are also some of the most successfully productive bands I know just constantly hitting the top of the charts and releasing album after album during the short time they stayed together. And this album was kind of the real kick-off for that Standouts Tombstone Shadow Bad Moon Rising 4/5
Really enjoyed this. The obvious hits are here but I really liked the last two instrumentals I had not heard before. Great drum beats on “Broken Spoke Shuffle” and nice riff on “Glory Be”.
Gimme a cold Dixie beer and slap me on a hot sweaty porch in the deep South. Listening to this sure does make one believe that we were all born on the bayou.
After getting Cosmos Factory earlier this exercise, this one sort of pales in comparison. But still a good album, between a 3/4 for me and I think I bumped it up on account of a couple classic tunes.
That John Cameron Fogerty sure knows how to write some songs, play that guitar and sing from his soul. I figured he was in fact born on the bayou…turns out he’s from Berkeley, CA and never actually lived in the South.
This is a very rare case where I complain an album is too short... I need like 10-15 more mins or these glorious tunes. 4/5
CCR:n kolmas studioalbumi on mainio swamp-rock albumi. Klassikko.
CCR at their best.
Enjoyed this. Bad moon rising so good
When I learned that CCR was actually from San Francisco I remember being truly shocked. Authenticity questions aside, I still jam to Creedence. Looking at the timeline now - 3 albums recorded in one year and basically all of the dang hits in 1969-1970, John Fogerty was NOT fucking around.
Ok, vintage rock, j'aime bien
Good songs, but a bit one-note for me. Upped to four stars for 'Bad moon rising'.
rock & roll
Day252 - what a run of success ccr had. this is the third album and maybe not as good as cosmo’s factory this does have three smash hits
❤️❤️❤️❤️/5
I quite liked it.
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Good fun. Foof stars.
You know what you're getting when you pop on some CCR. This particular album is short and sweet and sticks to its blues rock roots amidst a crowd of drug-induced, psychedelic rock from the time. The fact that Fogerty and the boys pumped out three albums in 1969 alone (this being the 2nd of the 3) was impressive. Never a dip in quality, plus gave us some iconic hits such as the self-titled "Green River" and "Bad Moon Rising".
Not my favorite CCR album, but its damn good!
Bad moon rising has undoubtedly become a classic song in every musicians repertoire. Certainly a more accessible CCR album, can become a bit repetitive with riffs in parts.
# 310 : Great album, I liked it a lot. It even has hit or two which is good considering it was their second album that year - probably should have banked 'em all up for a smashing end of year screamer, but anyway - I always like listening to these guys, it makes my foot tap... Favourite Track : Commotion
Gosh damn! These guys are consistent! I’ve listened to Bad Moon Rising so much but it never grows old.
Certainly doesn't reach the heights of Cosmo's but this album is an absolute slugger fest, these guys are basically the most consistent band in swamp rock and they consistently kick ass
A nice little album! I think it needs another listen.
Just solid aren't they. 3.5
Fantastic album, short and punchy. Highlights here are “wrote a song for everyone” and “bad moon rising”. A genuinely fantastic way to spend 44 minutes of your time.
Sooooook folkyyyy and country!!! Hashtag LOVE. So good. Starts slow at first but then you get adapted to it and the pace seems to pick up for the better. 9.492/10.
Old-fashioned in a fairly timeless way.
A masterpiece by led zeppelin.
Did I have a CCR album before? Was it exactly the same as this one? It's so hard to tell. Despite that, there's no denying the glorious country-rock on the big hits here. Of course, they're almost too familiar now - making a 60's documentary, slap some CCR over the top - but that's hardly their fault. Pull the soft-top down, crank the AM radio up, and blast down a highway into the sunset with Bad Moon Rising as your soundtrack.
Who doesn’t love a bit of CCR!
i like this album! would listen to it again :)
