Reviews (page 3 of 8)

I just love this band. Oh baby is one of my favorites but it’s all just enjoyable. They’re other stuff is more up, but this was chill

Really enjoy LCD Soundsystem. Fav was i used to.

While not being as great as Sound of Silver was, it's not As Bad as some people on this website claim it to be. Personally, I dug it regardless. 4.5 bumped down to 4.

Catchy, propulsive and innovative. It's not my favorite LCD Soundsystem album, but it's still a solid entry in his discography.

Très bonne découverte

Best Song: tonite. LCD Soundsystem is fantastic at making songs that evoke (melodically and lyrically) the bittersweet ephemerality of just having a good fucking time. Worst Song: black screen. It feels like he lost the plot on this one, and instead of building to any satisfying crescendo, it just languishes in this fuzzy, noisy mood. Anticlimactic ending to an album. Overall: For how basic it is, I can't help but enjoy the melancholy of LCD Soundsystem. Some of his songs linger too long in this kind of boring "jam" space, but the slow buildups he makes when everything is hitting have this wonderful feeling of inevitability, like the internal pressure of tears that you both need and don't want to bubble up to the surface.

Day607 - i was impressed by the sound and lyrics

Lacks the energy of earlier LCD records but still great

Looking forward to this one. Haven't given LCD Soundsystem a real listen before. A bit of noise in some of the beginning songs. Really liking the danciness of 'how do you sleep?'. This is the sound I think of when I think LCD Soundsystem. Enjoyable album with a beautiful finish.

Echt een Roald album

A good album that continues LCD Soundsystem’s signature mix of dance, punk and rock. Not every song is a winner but it’s clear that Murphy has matured quite a bit. The themes of this album feel heavier and weightier but it never feels leaden, plodding or pretentious.

Let's get this out of the way first - Oh Baby is a perfect song. No notes, 100/100 greatness. Now that said...I'm not sure why this album is on the 1001 list. It is quite a ways behind other LCD releases, so I guess it was chosen because it was a 'comeback'? Don't get me wrong, this is a good album, maybe even great, but including this one over the debut? Or This Is Happening? Or even their 'farewell' live concert? Nah. Grading on a curve here, this is 3 stars, but gets an extra star for Oh Baby (is that song the entire basis for Nation of Language as a band? Discuss.)

Great dancey album! Gave it two listens and enjoyed both all the same

Not quite five-star material, but definitely way better than I was expecting.

Was good, a bit long but solid electro jams

Very strange that this makes the list but their self-titled first one doesn’t.

Stark fyra!

It was a touch too long. There were a few oddball tracks I really enjoyed, but a lot of it just blended into the background. Overall a pleasant listen.

Tykkään varmaan keskiverto ihmistä enemmän tämmösestä musiikista nii siks hyvä. Tai en tiiä et kuunteleeko ihan kauheen moni ainakaa mun ikäsistä tai tutuista tällasta🧐

Didn't think I would like it very much but I did!

I love this album.

Not as good as a couple of their other albums.

The comeback that was always "happening" with moody lyrics and impeccable style.

As they used to say on American Bandstand, “It’s got a good beat and it’s easy to dance to.” A solid four stars, with a solemn vow to recognize the artist next time I’m on Molly at an all-night rave… which is to say, never.

The length is daunting but the sounds of the record are extremely rewarding for the listen.

I like LCD soundsystem, but never heard most of these. Never a fan of his talking/singing, but otherwise catchy. I enjoyed a lot of this. Highlights: i used to

American dream, oh baby, black screen and how do you sleep were my standouts. The dissonance was musical, strange and lulling, I liked it. It felt like listening to old instrumental ‘classical’ music but modern, in the sense that it employed all the techniques and technology of modern mixing to come up with these electronica-synth beats. Not a genre I’m familiar with.

Enjoyed it a lot. Very atmospheric and at times reminded me of Talking Heads. My favorite part was the 4 track run of tonite, call the police, american dream, and emotional haircut.

This was a fun album! Very LCD Soundsystem - long intros that slowly build before a big crescendo. None of the songs gripped me the way some of their earlier work has, but it was all quite enjoyable

I'm glad this is on the list. I never gave LCD Soundsystem a fair shake and this album has some interesting parts. I had it in my head for no real reason that LCD Soundsystem was just some super accessible dance music or something but that was clearly a wrong take. I like 'blackscreen' the most I think

american dream gave me major Aqueduct vibes. This was super chill and nice background music for the work I was doing.

Look I love LCD Soundsystem. Sound of Silver and This is Happening are two of the best albums of the 21st century. Their live shows are incredible. James Murphy is his generation's David Byrne. But like, why did this album, their comeback after a breakup and long hiatus, make this list? It's not their best and it's not even the best intro to the band for new listeners. That being said it's still better than most albums out there, even if it does feel like late career Lionel Messi playing in the MLS. Oh Baby, Tonite, and Call the Police are standouts.

Gerei e ouvi este disco enquanto visitava a cidade mais feia e pungente de SP, Guarulhos. Acho importante adicionar este prefácio pois certamente isso impactou minha percepção do álbum. Antes dele, já havia ouvido outros albuns do LCD Soundsystem, como Sound of Silver e This Is Happening. 4/5

Never gave this group a listen. Pretty solid.

i used too, change yr mind, American Dream

Another nice surprise from the list. Steady on, this is becoming a habit! Very enjoyable and varied throughout, and I was hooked as soon as I heard the cow bell on track 2 :) Will be listening again and having a delve into other works.

Eigentlich nicht unbedingt meine bevorzugte Stilrichtung, aber das Album ist überragend. Other voices erinnert sogar an die Talking Heads. Schlaue Musik für Bauch und die Beine.

Although this is not my favourite LCD album (last 2 songs could’ve been cut), it’s got some of their very best songs on. The 4 song run from how do you sleep to American dream is perfect.

Only heard maybe 1 or 2 of these before. Unreal album, not far short of their best

4.25 Solid

I’ve heard of them but never heard them. I’m blown away how really great this album was. They just gained a new fan.

I know this one’s divisive among fans, but I like how much they experimented with new sounds here while also keeping their classic vibe.

I like LCD Soundsytem

James Murphy is a genius who makes music that fills my heart with happiness and makes me want to dance. This isnt their best album and sometimes he could do with an editor to drop album lengths by 10% but i happily had this on repeat for the day.

banger 😎

I don’t know. I don’t love this album, but I do really like LCD. I’m probably biased because the documentary of James Murphy connected so much with me (as a man of a certain age). I’m probably being overly-generous with an extra star, but this all so subjective anyway.

interesting. i realized partway through the first song that i was getting LCD soundsystem mixed up with both Bloc Party and Broken Social Scene, so i truly had no biases going into this. probably not something i'll return to often bc omg those songs are LONG, but i enjoyed it on my drive to work. shades of talking heads in a lot of these songs.

this album sounds like what would happen if you gave david byrne access to garageband and 400 mg of caffeine

Sprawling and beat-driven. Thankful to have enjoyed this more than I expected after glancing over the tracklist and runtime. Not immediate maybe, but it kept me engaged even as the songs kept unfolding (there's only one song shorter than five minutes, and that's only by three seconds). There's something urgent and earnest about it and I plan on revisiting. I'd love to dance to this in a concert crowd.

Reviews were not encouraging, but I liked this.

Enjoyed

7.5/10 LCD Soundystem but a lot slower and less punkier than normal, their weakest release for sure but its still very enjoyable! Favorites were emotional haircut, american dream, and how do you sleep?

The first three quarters of this album are really great.

Un album d’une grande maturité où l’exploration n’est pas autoréférentielle. On dirait parfois la voix de Bono avec une touche des Talking Heads

suprisingly brilliant

Don't think this is quite 5* as Sound of Silver and This is Happening are, it doesn't have the immediacy and big builds that those albums do at their best, not until Emotional Haircut near the end anyway. Nonetheless it was, and still is, great to have LCD Soundsystem back. The vibe is a little more melancholy than their previous work, musically and lyrically, but that's fine.

This was my introduction into LCD a few years ago and I hated it. It sat on my shelf for 5 years and I listened to it again and it blew my mind. It opened up their whole catalogue and I was off to the races.

Quite good with some grade A bangers (tonite), but not their pinnacle

Consistently low-fi electronica that manages to be complex and catchy with rambly but wonderful lyrics. The last few tracks are rather indulgent but also decent. 4.1 stars rounded down.

American Dream is somehow simultaneously the 4th/5th best output from LCD Soundsystem, and also better than most other albums, such is the quality of output.

Pas tout écouté mais ça a l’air sympa

I liked this quite a bit. I like mid-tempo electronic music, and this had some good beats and some good melodies. I'm interested to listen to their earlier stuff to see why people were so excited about this comeback album.

Cool sound design and big songs but kind of NPC music, 3.5

Muy buen electrorock

3.7 2x

Sanoitukset on hassuja. Tonite on ilahduttava! Hilkulla nelonen (ks.: tasapaksuus).

One of their best probably

a little lush, a little rocking, a little Talking Heads and a smidge of The Cure combine for a thoroughly good time.

Thoughts before listening: I'm surprised to see this on the list. I remember liking this album when it was released, but its just not the same caliber as the band's earlier releases. Review: Yeah, probably not as good as the albums that came before it, but you know what...it's still pretty good. Dancey beat driven indie rock with plenty of catchy songs. LCD Soundsystem may be a bit derivative of many band that came before them (Talking Heads, Joy Division, etc) but that's fine. The 00s needed their own version of those bands, and they got a good one with these guys. Nice to see that they could go away for a while and come back with such a strong effort. 4-stars

Two LCD Soundsystem albums in a row. This is certainly toned down by comparison to the others, but is excellent in its own way. The 13 minute track at the end made me think I’d been transported into the Minecraft universe though.

Listening to music can be a weird thing sometimes. I remember trying out this album when it first came out and I didn't find it all that interesting and yet today I found at least 4 tracks that were worthy enough to add to my library: "oh baby", "I used to", "change yr mind", and "how do you sleep?"

Not my favourite of theirs, but still some great stuff.

Talking Heads (less annoying) + Joy Division

Favourites: oh baby, i used to, how do you sleep?, call the police, american dream, emotional haircut

vocals are lk angsty, interesting combo w the music. hard to put in a genre. but fire

Pushed me out of my comfort zone in all of the right ways. Some songs I would be find not hearing again.

Big LCD fan...hadn't listened to this album but since the year it came out. Surprised by how good I found it this listen...it holds up well against the previous two monumental albums. 4.5/5

Pretty good. Not as good as Sound of Silver. But still pretty good.

LCD Soundsystem just knows how to make entrancing and compelling stuff. They really let their grooves settle in and you never quite know when of if they are going to chime in with lyrics. It keeps me on my toes. On this album they sometimes sound like U2, thankfully they also sometimes sound like the talking heads.

James Murphy is a self indulgent artist and this album is excessive in so many ways. Way too long, each song pushing 5-6 mins or longer, long intros. And yet, that's part of the charm to me, as he seems fully self aware of it. There are some good songs here, like other voices, i used to, and tonite. I also kind of liked pulse (v.1), though mainly as background music while I work. It's a fine album that could stand to be 30 mins shorter.

This album was so much fun! For being an hour and a half, it really flew by. Never listened to LCD Soundsystem before, but this was a great introduction. 8.5/10

this was awesome! this man has no misses.

I was surprised to find this album on the list! I do adore this album. In my eyes James Murphy deserves more credit than the likes of Thom Yorke and Macca. That said, this is the weakest LCD album in my eyes. It's still gorgeous, don't get me wrong. 'oh baby' is a perfect opener, and 'how do you sleep' is simply gigantic in stature. I think it suffers from sticking to it's vibe a bit too rigidly. I would have enjoyed a bit more variety. The other three albums are definitely more ambitious.

Very nice

Wasn’t even aware they put out an album in this era. It was good!

The first and last songs were my favorite, but the whole album wasn't bad.

Very good on the whole though this album is, it fails to clear the bar for reformed groups: is your new album better than the worst one before you split up? ie I'd take the first three LCD albums over this one. Secondly, and perhaps relatedly, it wears even more nakedly its influences: Talking Heads (scratchy white boy guitar, rubbery bass, funk drumming and a whine about the state of the word), Kraftwerk (the final track) and even Echo and the Bunnymen on its sleeve. 3.5 really but rounding up, even though this feels oddly inessential on this list. Final point: who aced the comeback album. Slowdive that's who.

Great. My least favourite album of theirs though

Not anything mindblowing or revolutionary, but I like it.

Very good !

Already listened

As opposed to previous LCD Soundsystem albums that were solidly Dance-Punk, this one leans into a more post-punk sound. More than just inspired by those sounds, here LCD is paying homage to them. The influences are very direct here. I like that about it.

An excellent electronic record, holding up to the last decade's (and today's) standards, much deserving of a Grammy it won!

listened arond release?

Love it. Loved it for a long time.

pretty nice tbh

January 27, 2025 (listened on a redeye flight) HL: “How Do You Sleep?”, “Call the Police”, “I Used To” LCD Soundsystem is a band that has grown on me since this website gave me Sound of Silver (2006)

mjög hrifinn. hlustaði ekki á sínum. þarf aðra og aðra. 4,5.

A synthetic-driven adventure that begs to be played loud. Loves subwoofers. Both intelligent and danceable.

I gave Sound of Silver a 3, and reading that review again I feel about the same about this one. I like it maybe a little bit better, but it still doesn't get there for me. Good in stretches, though. 3.5. Rounding up on a second listen.

Instantly loved this

I think James Murphy should become a verb. Is it possible to take yourself too seriously when not taking yourself seriously? My heart says yes, and this phenomenon is called James Murphying it. I've got deep love, respect and admiration for most anything LCDS, but this isn't their best work. The four tracks, Oh Baby, Emotional Haircut, Call The Police and Black Screen are stellar, but there's some filler here that drags the album down. Add the above tracks to your playlist and then check out Sound of Silver.

I did not have high hopes for this album as I had another LCD Soundsystem that was not good. Perhaps the low expectations and good listening conditions made for an enjoyable listen. I guess I also like punk electronica.

Maybe not a 5 star for my taste, but I was entertained all the way through. Definitely some talking heads vibes.

Not the best LCD Soundsystem album but, hey, still LCD Soundsystem.

Lots of cool 80s influences. A little too long, could use more highlight moments. Strong 3.5

Not the best LCD Soundsystem album, but still really good. "Oh Baby" and "Call the Police" are great. 4 stars.

taking some time out of my christmas to review my least favourite LCD soundsystem album. it’s what james murphy would have wanted. this album really suffers from the lore surrounding it, i think. LCD soundsystem breaks up, films a documentary about their final show, and returns seven years later with an album that re-hashes the sound that made them blow up. i spent all 7 minutes of other voices thinking “this really sounds like pow pow…doesn’t it?” fortunately (for me, at least), i will eat anything this band does up, and they can pose as old dogs re-learning old tricks forever and ever. i don’t care. i’ll be in the audience.

Oh baby, i've listened it before.. definitely a favorite other voices... hell yeah! black screen is wonderful, a great closer

## In-Depth Review of *American Dream* by LCD Soundsystem LCD Soundsystem's fourth studio album, *American Dream*, released in 2017, marks a significant return for the band after a lengthy hiatus. This album encapsulates themes of aging, existential dread, and the complexities of modern life, all delivered through a unique blend of electronic, punk, and dance music. Below is a detailed examination of the album's lyrics, music, production, themes, and its influence on contemporary music. ### Lyrics The lyrical content of *American Dream* is introspective and poignant, reflecting frontman James Murphy's personal struggles and observations about life. The lyrics traverse a range of emotions from nostalgia to despair: - **Opening Track: "Oh Baby"** The album opens with “Oh Baby,” a love song that juxtaposes soft melodies with heavy emotional weight. Murphy's lyrics convey vulnerability: *“Oh baby, have you been having bad dreams here in my arms?”* This sets the tone for the album, where love is intertwined with feelings of anxiety and insecurity. - **"Other Voices"** This track features a spoken-word section by Nancy Whang that addresses themes of paranoia and societal change. The lyrics reflect a sense of disconnection: *“Who can you trust / And who are your friends?”* This captures the zeitgeist of modern anxieties about relationships and authenticity. - **"How Do You Sleep?"** Perhaps one of the most intense tracks on the album, it serves as a dis-track aimed at former producer Tim Goldsworthy. The lyrics are raw and confrontational, depicting feelings of betrayal and loss: *“One step forward and six steps back.”* The relentless beat mirrors the emotional turmoil conveyed in the lyrics. - **"Black Screen"** Closing the album, this track reflects on mortality and regret with haunting simplicity. Murphy sings about missed connections and the weight of expectations: *“Couldn’t make our wedding day / Too sick to travel.”* This encapsulates the overarching theme of grappling with life’s disappointments. ### Music Musically, *American Dream* showcases LCD Soundsystem's signature sound while incorporating new elements that reflect their evolution as artists: - **Instrumentation** The album features a mix of electronic beats, live instrumentation, and layered synths. Tracks like “Tonite” exemplify this blend with upbeat disco rhythms that contrast sharply with darker lyrical themes. - **Production Quality** Produced by James Murphy himself, the album has a polished yet intimate sound. The production choices create an atmospheric quality that enhances the emotional impact of the lyrics. Critics have noted that while some tracks feel reminiscent of earlier works, they still maintain a fresh perspective. - **Standout Tracks** - **“Tonite”** is a danceable anthem that critiques pop culture while simultaneously celebrating the act of dancing itself. - **“How Do You Sleep?”** stands out for its chaotic energy and emotional depth. - **“Black Screen”** closes the album on a somber note with minimalist instrumentation that allows Murphy’s voice to take center stage. ### Themes Thematically, *American Dream* explores several interconnected ideas: - **Aging and Regret** Many songs reflect on the passage of time and the feelings associated with growing older. Murphy candidly addresses his insecurities about aging in tracks like “American Dream” itself. - **Disconnection in Modern Society** The lyrics often touch on feelings of isolation and confusion in an increasingly complex world. This is particularly evident in “Other Voices,” where Murphy questions trust and friendship. - **Existential Anxiety** The album captures a sense of existential dread prevalent in contemporary life. Murphy’s reflections on personal failures resonate deeply with listeners navigating similar feelings. ### Influence *American Dream* has had a notable impact on both fans and critics alike: - **Critical Reception** Critics have praised the album for its honesty and maturity. It has been described as both profound and relatable, offering insights into human emotions that many artists shy away from. - **Cultural Commentary** The album serves as a commentary on modern life’s absurdities, echoing sentiments found in works by other influential artists like David Bowie, who was an inspiration for Murphy during its creation. - **Legacy** By tackling themes relevant to contemporary audiences through innovative soundscapes, LCD Soundsystem has solidified their place in modern music history. They continue to influence emerging artists who seek to blend genres while addressing personal and societal issues. ### Pros and Cons #### Pros - **Emotional Depth**: The lyrics resonate with listeners experiencing similar struggles. - **Musical Innovation**: A successful blend of genres that keeps the sound fresh while honoring their roots. - **Production Quality**: High-quality production enhances both lyrical content and musicality. #### Cons - **Pacing Issues**: Some tracks may feel drawn out or less engaging compared to earlier works. - **Nostalgia vs. Innovation**: Critics argue that some songs recycle ideas from previous albums without adding significant new elements. - **Accessibility**: The introspective nature may alienate casual listeners who prefer more straightforward pop music. ### Conclusion LCD Soundsystem's *American Dream* stands as a testament to their ability to evolve while remaining true to their artistic identity. Through rich lyrical content, innovative musical arrangements, and profound thematic exploration, they have crafted an album that speaks to both personal experiences and broader societal issues. While it may not appeal universally due to its introspective nature, it undoubtedly cements their legacy as one of modern music's most compelling voices.

Really strong album. Made me want to drop a pill and chill TF out 😂

This took me a few listens but I like this album, American Dream (2017), a bit more than Sound of Silver (2007). What I like best about this band is their beats and rhythms and how they fuse those with interesting electro-sound scapes. Nothing super grabbed me but all together I though it was creative and a pretty solid album with good grooves.

Really dug this album! Funky fresh beats, and they don't feel like anyone else out there. They've made their own sound that's very LCD Soundsystem. Love their blend of rock and electronic, with emotional and thoughtful lyrics too.

Even as a huge LCD Soundsystem fan, I was a little surprised to see this record on the list, and can only assume that Sound of Silver must be laying in wait for me on another day. This record came a little out of nowhere at the time after the band had announced their effective break-up some years before. Whilst it doesn't quite have SoS's (or any other LCD record for that matter) stand out banger, or even as much of a 'club' feel to it, this record instead captures James Murphy contemplating aging what the future will hold. It still has the usual LCD trademark sounds - cowbells, 80s synths, nods to musical heroes such as Bowie &The Fall but doesn't quite reach the heights of SoS, but let's be honest, very few records do.

Far less LCD than I was expecting. This album had escaped my radar but feel better now knowing it exists. The sounds are great and there is a darker tone to the album. Really cool and felt an emotional connection. Don't know why exactly but it hit

I think lyrically this is a really good album but the songs are all lengthy but will say the album seemed to go by really quick. I think it has a theme and most songs have a similar feel. I can’t decide between and 3 and 4 and I’ll be generous and go with my gut 4/5

Good! Always forget about LCD SS

didn’t really get it when it came out (only listened to the singles) but now it’s really resonating. perfect work music too

Istina je da james Murphy zna bit iritantan isto je tako istina da nije snimio loš album

liked songs: other voices, change yr mind, american dream I got some major Talking Heads vibes, a little bit of Bowie, and a little of something new. I might have to dig into their discography, this was a pretty good album. 3.75

Funk, electro, pop. This is a really fun record and great one to listen to in the morning to get the day going (as was the case for me today). I've always been a fan of LCD, and listening to this record reminded me why. Relatable lyrics, nothing overwhelmingly emotional but almost philosophical in a way. I'll definitely come back to revisit this record in the future.

before: I don’t know what to expect! after: I LIKED IT A LOT!! I heard a bit early pink floyd, mixed with some late radiohead and I loved the unexpected changes in the songs

This is so much better than a lot of the reviews implied. Decent electronica, although it is overly long - and it's not like there are tons of tracks it's just that they individually go on for a bit too long, each one. Having said that I did enjoy it quite a lot - not 5 stars, but a good 4.

A slow start getting into the album. It used a lot of spacious electronic sounds to drive the music forward, and it didn’t always work for me. Sometimes it amped them up with some drums and guitar, which hooked me. Lyrics flip between direct and vague. Overall good album with some shining moments. Standouts: other voices, how do you sleep?, tonite, call the police, and american dream.

This album has neither my favorite LCD Soundsystem songs, nor does it have any songs that get annoyingly repetitious in the way their worst songs could be. More soulful than I think of them being, too.

Nothing new but still an enjoyable listen

Didn't really notice how much these lads remind me of talking heads

The album is great except for two songs. Soft 4

how is this album cover more 2005 than his 2005 album

Biased review because I already like some of their music. I don’t love all the songs (like the end of the album drags a bit for me), but I really like a lot of the others. Really love call the police.

A very cool record but after a while the ran out of ideas. Still great but they recorded better music.

Successful promoted rock music with an icecream truck.

Not as good as Sound of Silver, but still good. I think call the police (none of the songs here have capitalization, I’m not just being lazy) was my favorite song on here.

It was a good album great Ben just feel like it ain’t there best feel like some ideas where not fully tapped into. 7/10

LCD Soundsystem isn't really for me. But I liked this album more then other I have heard from them.

I was in the right mood for this yesterday.

a modern classic

I know these guys. Just recently listened to them a bit more. I do enjoy them a lot. I have not checked out this album. Very good album. Very LCD, obviously.

I have always wanted to listen to an LCD album so this is my chance. I really enjoyed this album. There are some great songs on it like Tonight, call the police and how do you sleep. Such a good mixture of upbeat songs and ballads. Favourite song: How do you sleep Least favourite song: Black screen was just so long and not needed Cover: It’s a simple yet effective album cover

I still love LCD Sound system!!

oh baby // i used to // how do you sleep? // call the police // american dream // emotional haircut //

Very good electronic music. Atmospheric and catchy

LCD Soundsystem is one of those names I’ve seen floating around for a couple decades, but I’ve never really spent any time with their music. This album is quite good, but it really benefits from listening through headphones. Lots of driving beats, synth pop textures, and not a small amount of Talking Heads influence.

Loved oh baby. Great intro. And then how do you sleep through call the police was wonderful. Solid album for me.

The end is a bit long and they repeat the old recipe anyway

Exciting like the others in the list. Not sure if it needed 3x LCD in the collection, but still a 3.5 with a tendency to 4

I said this exact same thing when I listened to Sound Of Silver by LCD Soundsystem, but I went into this thinking I would be listening to Motion City Soundtrack. I don’t know why I have such difficulty separating the two artists. Anyway, this album was very pleasant. I think I probably preferred it over Sound Of Silver. It has plenty of Synth, and plenty of catchy hooks. It made for a pleasant soundtrack to me eating a cake.

i did not expect to like this album very much. however, when i listened, i was pleasantly surprised. this album sticks with you and doesn’t let go. quality stuff. highlights: “change yr mind” “call the police” “american dream”

This was really good, though some of the tracks near the end started to drag a bit. I think I liked this better as an album than Sound of Silver, even though Someone Great is still my all time favorite song of theirs. 4/5

not their best album but a pretty nice comeback

# Playlist track - oh, baby # Notes - It's a dense album, not a dance one. I kind of like the dancier LCD Soundsystem. - Not bad, not great. Worth the listen.

Hey if the other LCD Soundsystem album I listened to was his Beck album then this one is his David Byrne album

I like this album, but I'm not sure I love it. It has some really great songs but some songs didn't jive with me. I'm giving it a 4 because I think with more listens I would enjoy it more.

4/5 This album is consistently interesting and enjoyable, but rarely exceptional. The lyrics are great, and the Bowie tribute is touching, but ultimately the album doesn't come together to be more than the sum of its parts. oh baby 4/5 other voices 3/5 (LEAST FAV) i used to 4.5/5 change yr mind 4/5 how do you sleep? 4/5 tonite 4.5/5 call the police 4.5/5 (FAV) american dream 4.5/5 emotional haircut 4/5 black screen 4/5

One of the greatest albums ever

Coincidence that this album came right after a Talking Heads album in my list? LCD Soundsystem sounds like TH reinvented for the 21st century, especially on songs like other voices, tonite, and emotional haircut. Those songs had eccentric but clever lyrics, a halting and off-kilter David Byrne-like vocal delivery, and unique up-tempo beats and musical blends - probably my three favorite songs on the album. Except maybe oh baby and how do you sleep? (the latter really picks up about 3.5min in). Those 2 songs had some great pumping beats, but felt a bit more like techno synth than TH new wave. So what about the other half of the album? A little bit meh to be honest. But I was definitely bopping along to the songs I did like. Maybe another album that's a 3.5 but I'm rounding up because I was pleasantly surprised - most synth pop or dance pop stuff (especially on this list) I haven't been excited about in the least. If, like me, you got energized by their up-tempo songs, you need to go listen to one of their early singles Daft Punk is Playing in My House - it's so fun and probably the only song of theirs I knew before this album.

decent

Produktionen er så vild på den her plade. Måske kun den tredjebedste LCD plade men det er næsten straight bangers

I wasn't expecting much going into this one since I'm familiar with LCD and only like a couple of their older songs; but damn, I'm thoroughly impressed by this one! The whole record feels both fresh and familiar, definitely adding this to my library. Stand out tracks: other voices, i used to, call the police

I haven't heard this record before but generally like this band from other exposures. This is solid and might even be a five with more listening.

This is the third day in a row of second albums I've gotten from artists on here, and while they've all been good they've all also not been quite as good as the first album I got (but very close in every case). Maybe it's just the luck of the draw, maybe I'm getting too critical, who knows. This one came after they had been disbanded for 5 years, so it was a bit of a surprise at the time. Honestly I didn't expect to get this album on here, I was surprised to see this recent LCD Soundsystem, but I guess this did pretty well when it came out. I'm familiar with "oh baby", but not the rest. LCD Soundsystem is mostly just a vibes band to me. Luckily the vibes are generally pretty good. I feel like both of their albums that I've gotten have a couple of songs that are far and away the standouts, and then the rest is just consistently solid vibes to jam to. I think last time I said "the whole is better than the sum of the parts", and I think this one is the same thing. On this one the standouts are "oh baby" and "call the police". It's a bit long of an album and there's a few songs that are a bit uninspired, but there's not too much to be critical about here. I actually get quite a bit of New Wave sound on a decent number of songs on this one, there's a few that are a bit synth-heavy, it almost sounds a bit older than it is at times. Probably a 3.5 for me, but "oh baby" and "call the police" are so good I'm rounding up. Random note, but apparently they got roasted for the album cover being weak. Can't say I disagree, it's a little weak. It's giving 'Pay Nothing Until April' by Edward Ruscha (or "Infinite Jest"). Favorite song: oh baby Other: i used to, how do you sleep?, tonite, call the police, american dream 6/26/24

Hidden gem for me. So good. 4/5

Not too bad. Singing reminded me of Cake, U2, Cure at times. Sort of pleasant electronica.

How Do You Sleep is too slow; I especially like Other Voices, Tonite

Love this album, can’t believe it’s been 7 years, long overdue for a new one!

Liked it! Nothing too revolutionary but it's in a genre I always enjoy.

Some of it is sublime, but it's not all equal

I really liked LCD Soundsytem's debut album. Then for some reason they never appeared on my radar again. I'm glad this list did what it had to do

They got a funky style and a couple tracks bot on this album that are certified hummdingers. Im giving these guys a four because they are like a more cool and less douchey with electronic funk U2.

Enjoyed this

An epic slow burn that takes it’s time - which is mostly brilliant and only a fraction frustrating.

This was the first album in the project that I had to stop and come back to. I've never been the biggest fan of the 80s sound, and the album started off on a terrible foot in my opinion. But the second half is absolutely incredible. It's one of those albums where every song is either a love it or hate it for me. Which is still better than leaving me with no impression at all. Top tracks: oh baby, call the police, american dream

I never realized these artists thought so much about dying

Great comeback album from a great band. Already within my regular rotation so obviously had a bit of bias coming into this one.

Probably only needs to be one LCD album in the list but this has got a real nice build to it. call the police is a very good song. His ability to turn any uber ride through the city into a hell moody metropolis dream is pretty sweet. Also an opportunity to mention the LCD Sound System documentary, worth a watch. Side note I make a conscious effort to be grammatically correct with capital letters when referring to songs in all these reviews but considering theres no capitals on the track listing I shall true to the artist's intent.

what a nice new find that is!

Closer to a 4 than a 3. It’s not his best work, but it sure is charming and groovy!

The lead track, "oh baby," is an absolute banger. Didn't realize this song was by LCD Soundsystem. Track 5, "how do you sleep?" is also really great. "emotional haircut" is also a great track in the latter half of the album.

I really liked the build up for each track, creating tension which is sometimes released vi a big chorus, other times it just keeps going with a hypnotic, atmospheric groove. It's great dance music, but it's also great background music as well.

There's lots to like here, great album.

Even at their lowest, LCD Soundsystem still can make a sound crisp yet nostalgic, rife with instantly infectious beats and tunes that just scream style and glamour, drenched however in maturity. Sans a few of the more head-scratching lyrics.

4.5, but honestly, cant really find any major flaws with the album. Great mixture of energetic tracks with slower ballads, with super dense instrumentation.

Easy to listen to with a lot of catchy and itneresting songs. I quite enjoyed this one and I have listend to some of their other stuff before.

I bit long, but it continues to evolve and remain interesting all the way through. Vocals are good, instruments are really great and definitely some of the most diverse I have had so far. Nothing absolutely mind blowing, but I'm definitely very glad that I discovered this.

Favorites were "oh baby" and "black screen"

4/5 Pristine production offering lush synth pop sounds with lashings of 80s nostalgia, driving krautrock beats escalating to explosive heights, heady psychedelia and seriously groovy basslines, through to thoughtful droning passages. This album offers a lot once you give it a chance - with a general formula of driving tracks that slowly build. My only complaint is that I'm not listening to it live - I feel like this would be 10x better if I were witnessing it live with a big sound system and a crowd.

This is what Synthpop would sound like if they had modern electronic music tools in the '80s instead of those synths.

Really liked this! His voice (and echo effects applied to it) sounded like Bono at times. Great and unique style. 4/5

Very pleasant project, with two different tones that are well mixed together. First I thought, "2017? Too new to be here" Then I remembered that is 7 years ago. There are a couple tracks that are well known, which were quite an easy listen. I could imagine myself in Nasty Mondays with a couple tracks, or driving at night with others. Great combination, keep it up.

I like the sound, but the songs are simply too long and it gets old listening to it. Very solid rock sound though.

Things I’ve discovered doing this: I like LCD Soundsystem a lot more than I thought I did

Some good long songs here, I didn't get tired of them despite the length. If they were shorter I'd call it radio rock but they're not, so I won't. Stand-out: american dream

oh baby might be my new favorite song.

Underrated LCD Sounsystem album, some top tunes on here

Another band that is rated exactly as they should be. LCD Soundsystem is universally acclaimed as being very, very, good. This isn't my favorite album of theirs. I prefer the dance-y stuff. Would be four stars, but gets kicked down a half-star since I learned that James Murphy has a Producer credit on Arcade Fire's "Reflektor" album. Booo!!!

Not what i was expecting. More edgy than pop. Solid retro synth sounds

3.5 stars. No big standouts in terms of individual tracks, but it's a good album overall. Uses layers and depth to go a bit genre-bendy in a creative yet listenable way. Dance-y but not overly catchy electronica but not at the expense of a variety of instruments. Runs a bit long.

Loved this since the day it came out

This surprised me in a couple of ways. Despite it being recognisable as LCD Soundsystem, it is quite different to the previous albums. If I were to try and describe this, I might say that this had a geet big chunk of David Byrne influence, and that actually works really well. It's actually a very listenable album with some compelling tracks, but it unfortunately misses out on a top rating simply because it is too damn long. If it was twenty minutes shorter it'd be a masterpiece. As it stands, the eponymous "American dream" earnt itself a skip for being obnoxiously repetitive, and looking back at the track now I'm genuinely surprised that said track is "only" 6m8s long when others on the album weigh in over 7 minutes - and an excruciating 12 minute finale. Proof positive that you really can have too much of a good thing.

fick bli både dubbel och trippellyssning för att bestämma sig. väldigt nära en femma.

Never heard the band, liked the album 👍

This was a surprise to me. I’ve always been pretty meh on LCD Soundsystem, but I really liked this. It’s a little darker than previous albums. The lyrics are pretty biting self reflective. Good stuff and super fun at the same time.

I liked it more and more. 4/4

I really liked the music and vibe of some of the songs, but most of them went on for too long without any real need for their length. “emotional haircut” was a standout song for me.

Enjoyable album. I would recommend listening to this one!

I missed this LCD reunion album when it originally came out, which is surprising since I was a bit obsessed with their last album. And it was very good! I enjoy LCD Soundsystem and I enjoyed this. Sometimes these things aren’t intricate math problems.

Solid. Good vibes.

Never REALLY listened closely to them. A bit like a Talking Heads for the 21st century. I need to listen to them more. A good find!

My first impression was to go and listen to the sources of the eclecticism instead, that's on full display here, but after some tracks, this is better than the sum of those parts, so to speak? Not really my cup of tea but I understand how it's among the 1001. It's 2 pm now, I'll probably listen to it some more today. // Still, there're going to be trailblazer albums on here and this is anything but. 4

First time I heard it I was not impressed, would have given it a 2/5 at best. Now I've heard it 100 times... Yeah, it's pretty great. Very diverse. No two songs are the same. 4/5

What a lovely surprise it was to revisit this! I'd listened to it a lot on release, and really enjoyed it (especially call the police, which is one of the great songs of the 2010s for me). But I assumed it would just be one of those albums that is of a time and swiftly forgotten. Not so, it seems! You can really hear the Bowie and Talking Heads influence in this album, and it hangs together really well. The first album on The Project that I listened to while running, and it works well for that. Let's have two fewer false endings on the final track though eh lads.

i was pleasantly surprised, almost as great as Sound Of Silver, almost more consistent, but it doesnt have that many huge highs

Great stuff

It's such a great album but it really comes at the expense of their last album. A "final" album hits different when it isn't their final album..

A near ideal mix of the driving and dreamy, but across and within cuts. The transition from minimalist beginnings to baroque bodies and endings on many tracks ‘tis wondrous strange. Even as you want to move, this is music that gets in your head. Just excellently interesting. Opens intriguigingly and closes most compellingly.

Now this is what this thing is for! Never heard them before and it’s right up my street. 4 due to a couple of weaker tracks but with more listens it may become a 5

Excellent. Definitely more mellow in their later years but still powerful. Heard Kraftwerk but also some Joy Division. The title track is an earworm, call the police and how do you sleep were my other faves but this is one to listen to straight through. Drags a tiny bit at the end but a heavy 4.

я вообще боялся кислятины, поскучал вначале, но разъебался к 4-му треку

This album is the perfect example of how 80s synth music has made its way into the contemporary lexicon. The music is interesting and combines a lot of atmospheric elements and dance inspired beats to create something that sits on the border of synth wave and post-punk. Having said that, I'm not really picking up on much that's groundbreaking, but this album does what it does very well.

This reminds me how I missed a pocket of music for a time!

I'm a big fan of Sound of Silver, and this album lives up to it. Dense and heavily-layered soundscapes with great grooves, great atmosphere, powerful rhythms, emotional punch. A lengthy album with a lot of lengthy songs, yet I never felt bored or unfocused (save, maybe, at the end). A great comeback. Best song: how do you sleep?

I've really come around on Oh Baby. I used to think it was a little too slow and vibey, but it has a really nice atmosphere. Love the energy on Other Voices, and the woman's spoken vocals are awesome. Change Yr Mind didn't gel with me - didn't like the slow, downtrodden energy. Call the Police is very epic feeling, kinda reminds me of All My Friends. Really don't care for the ballad-y vibe of American Dream, but I do love the descending synth part.

Good album, I liked the music style. I liked Oh Baby and american dream the most.

Love it! Not my very favorite LCD, but a great one.

75/100

Started off a bit slow but I enjoyed it. I said in my other review that it would be great if the album where shorter. Once again that applies here. Could have cut 10-15 minutes and make it a stellar listen.

Pretty good. Nice soundscape

This is not as consistently good as LCD Soundsystem's earlier stuff (Sound of Silver is better) but it's still right up my street.

From 2017 but is Talking Heads meets Depeche Mode meets Tangerine Dream meets Bowie steals Bono

A cool mix of talking heads and Depeche Mode. Enjoyed this more than I thought I would.

Not familiar with this album..... Wasn't convinced for the first half, but thought it was much better from tonite onwards. Highlights were: Tonite Can the police American dream Emotional haircut No where near as good as sound of silver, but still unmistakably lcd Soundsystem 3.5

Wow, I enjoyed the heck out of this album. I anticipate more rotations!

finally we have some good albums

it was surprisingly good omg these guys CAN pick an album after all

2 times in a row it is people i like 🎉😊

Honestly did not expect to see this album on the list. Pleasant surprise. I remember when this first record came out, I was cautiously optimistic given that Murphy made such a big deal About 2011 being their last time out. The first three records are near perfect, and this fourth attempt almost seven years later almost didn’t feel right. Anyway, the album is great. In a weird way, it’s exactly what you want from an LCD project. There are new, unexplored sounds happening while bribing you back to what was so encapsulating about the band to begin with. I don’t think it’s an immediate banger upon first listen. It’s one that grows on you, the slower pace of the first half leading up to something really special. In the back half, there’s a three-song run where each track keeps topping the previous one. Murphy does this consistently on every album, and I think some of his best is sandwiched in between how do you sleep? and american dream. All that to say, this isn’t a perfect album by any means. It’s too long, and really does overstay its welcome, but it certainly proves Murphy hasn’t lost his edge.

very good electronic sound, edgy.

the vibes on this really sooth me. it’s long, hypnotic, and catchy too. loved it. will probably listen again.

Really enjoyed this - like a love letter to the 80s! For sure, being 600+ albums into this project has better equipped me to think of anything 80s related in a more positive light. 😆 This album wears its influences on its sleeve, and that's a good thing in this instance. I can definitely hear the Suicide, Talking Heads, OMD, etc etc. 4.5 stars I think - would probably manage 5 with more listens... Fave track - "Call the Police", maybe? "American Dream" sounds like prime movie soundtrack material - like, a modern film set in the 80s could have that playing during the emotional climax and I wouldn't bat an eye...

It wasn’t hard to believe that Murphy had another really strong record in him. And best of all it still sounds like 100% LCD Soundsystem, thank the gods. First record and Silver are still best.

I’ve heard great things about this group. This albums track list is perfectly arranged. Tonite is such an enjoyable, peppy song. Quality album on the whole that inspires me to explore the band’s other work. 8/10

Can see why it's great, not my vibe

I'm questioning why an album as recent as 2017 is on a must-listen list when it hasn't had time to actually have an impact, and based on prior reviewers it's not their most impactful album. Regardless, I walked into this not looking forward to listening and came out of it impressed. My Apple Music was on repeat and I didn't know I listened to the album twice. 4/5.

This album showcases the band's signature blend of indie rock, dance punk, and electronic music, with frontman James Murphy's voice and lyrics taking a little more of a back role compared to Sound of Silver (which I reviewed earlier). The album is filled with dark and introspective tracks like "How Do You Sleep?" and "Tonite." Murphy's lyrics are biting and witty, and he captures the angst and uncertainty of modern life with precision. Also the opening track "American Dream," is a moody and introspective reflection on the fleeting nature of the titular dream. Despite the heavy subject matter, "American Dream" is also a more enjoyable album to listen to. The band's danceable beats and catchy hooks keep the album from feeling too heavy or depressing, and songs like "Call the Police" and "Emotional Haircut" sure got me moving whilst I was listening. Overall, "American Dream" is an album that manages to be both deeply thought-provoking and incredibly fun to listen to.

The worst LCD Soundsystem album. It's still a 4/5.

This was a really great album. I kept hearing Talking Heads voice all through out. The electronic music element combined with the Talking Heads sound made for a really great album!

I'm not sure why I've never really listened to LCD Soundsystem before. This is right up my alley. It has an 80's influence that I really dig.

Seems like a modern day Talking Heads. Some good tracks on here, more sort of laid back listening while I work type music. Might listen again.

The more I listen to it, the more this album grows on me. Can definitely here the David Bowie and Talking Heads influences. Other Voices and Tonite are bangers. Black Screen is haunting and dark. Solid album.

4.5/5. New Order for the millennial. This band makes me feel some type of way but I can never put it into words. Perhaps nostalgia or the anxious feeling of wasting my 20s.

Yeah I enjoyed it. Would like to listen again on better sound system

A very nice, psyhadelic experience 4/5

Very good

Not quite their best, but LCD Soundsystem doesn't make bad albums.

I feel like this album is best listened to high the beginning songs are all really good, only brought down by the last ones which are barely even songs

Quite nice

LCD sound system I actually never heard them before and it’s not quite what I expected. They do retro synth rock really well. Oh baby has that one note intro is cool way to start album Other voices has a talking heads vibe And so does change yr mind Tonite is Call the police has a Bowie “heroes” vibe with the guitar Black screen is so minimal and repetitive. The outro is weird and cool I like the subtle changes to the pulsing synth over time. Interesting minor over major chord sound on the piano. Pretty good album but I feel like I have to be in the right mood for it. 3.5

boop beep boop oontz oontz oontz 4 stars

I do like LCD. Hard to believe this is 2017 and not in a niteclub in Sheffield circa 1981. I prefer Sound of Silver but this is a continuation on the themes of retro electronic dance. Similar sounds sure but I like them. Listening to 'Being Boiled', 'Electricity' or 'Fade to gray' I'd like to think Mr Murphy has copied them but he's invented his own vibe and I love it.

It has oh baby on it. Very good album.

Fun! I'll be back

des longueurs mais j'ai bien aimé

Love all the layered sounds on this record, and the longer songs as well that let you really reflect on the total walls of noise that it creates. At some points I'm reminded of Talking Heads even though I don't know them very well, but it's obvious that a lot of the synth and drum machine sounds that are used are kind of dates, which is on purpose of course. Really funky album that just as some great layering at points.

A good album, not my favorite of theirs, but some solid songs. Also some songs that could have been cut in order to make a more concise album. I was tired of it well before the end.

Definitely one of their better albums for sure. This was post-reunion I believe so there was likely some extra skin-in-the-game here as well. I dunno, there's like at least half of these songs which are fun bangers. I'd love to see them live.

The lightest of fours, an overall enjoyable album

8/10. Similar complaint to the other LCD Soundsystem Album, where everything went on just a little too long. Still pretty good though.

It was alright! I loved it! I really love the sound of it. Reminds me of some Talking Heads. Some songs were kinda weak, then theres some songs that start weak, but slowly turn into a masterpiece!

Before today I only knew one of their songs, ‘Daft Punk is playing at my house’. I really like that song and I always think of it as being very meta-. I’m not actually sure what Meta is so I may be wrong and now I’m thinking of poor Alanis and all of the unironic things she thought were ironic! And that song isn’t on this record anyway so pardon my tangent. This album is delightful. I heard influences of The Strokes, The Killers and even New Order. The music was good, some lyrics were clever and I will definitely listen to this again.

I was all in on a 4-star review until the last two songs tried to dissuade me. As I detected elements from one song to the next that hearkened to other artists — Elbow, Talking Heads, King Crimson, Bowie, Psychedelic Furs — I wondered if this album was some kind of writing experiment, where James Murphy (yes, I had to look that up) binged an artist for a week and let that influence his songwriting. I had a whole story drawn up. Perhaps that will be my next venture. All my fantasizing aside, I enjoyed this album a lot, and the aforementioned potential influences only elevated my interest. The eclectic batch of songs were all interesting, and while I'm more a fan of acoustic instrumentation, the techno/electronica was expertly orchestrated. So yeah. Ok, 4 stars.

I knew I liked LCD Soundsystem prior to listening but now I know I LOVE LCD Soundsystem. James Murphy is like a Brooklyn version of Morrissey without the complicated political views. The band takes the best of other bands and genres that I love—Talking Heads, electronica, Bowie, dance, Madonna, ambient chill—and blends them into their own sound. I really like the album cover.

Interesting intro, very dreamy with good synth vibes. This second track is really making me think of Talking Heads - Once in a Lifetime. How do you sleep is a straight banger. Black Screen has some distinct *wave vibes. I'm really enjoying how every track is basically in the same genre, but it able to distinguish itself in subtle ways to make it feel like a whole different genre.

Already very familiar with this album. Didn't know the band much before this came out, but I heard call the police and fell in love. Long album but very good overall. Some of the electronic parts are not my preferred type of music, but the way the band blends these with indie rock and new way stylings really work for me. Album from track 5 on is the best part to me.

Ég fæ mikinn late 90s fíling yfir þessari plötu. Mjög gaman að henni.

Great album. I’d not listened to it before and will definitely be listening to it again!

Pretty decent, but the first song is definitely the high point

Perfect running music. Will go back to this a lot.

cute!!

Sehr geiler variabler sound. Von EDM über Rock bis Pop ist alles an Klängen mit drin!

I don't know why I'm not more into these guys than I am. Whenever I hear them, I think, "I like this." Somehow, that never leads to me seeking them out. I couldn't name any of their songs, but I love listening to them when they're placed in front of me.

Haven’t to anything more recent of theirs, enjoyed it

Cool sounding record, but docking a point because I kept thinking of other bands while listening (Cure, Smiths, Gang of Four)

Bra platta men låter mycket som foals - mer cred till dem!! Pluspoäng för att radion spelade car seat headrest efteråt

american dream is truly an american dream. how do you sleep? will still haunt me. to this day (five days later)

I really like LCD Soundsystem, this release is not my favourite of theirs. There’s some great stuff here but at 2 hours this feels bloated. I guess This is Happening is also 2 hours long but I never had the same feelings towards that one. Black Screen especially felt unnecessary. Overall I could cut a few songs and would love this but I’m gonna have to score it a 3.5 based on the bloat rounded up to 4 bc the good stuff here is great

Dreamy electronic album, I found myself thinking of Hot Chip, but not really America.

Iets tussen synthwave en rock. Wel tof om te luisteren

It's an interesting mess of 3 genres, which are of course, not mutually exclusive. I like the Brian Eno-ish ambient bits, probably because I'm enjoying the recently discovered Brian Eno himself. I won't actually mind if they go full Brian Eno lite. The disco grooves and the synths gives it a unique character. Then we have those small rock or punk stuffs. It's actually lots of fun, punk with electronic-dance grooves. Quite an experience. Lastly, we have electronic dance. Not a big fan of this one, I'm afraid. It's ironic considering this is the one that gives colours to the other two in this album. Overall, a nice adventure. My kind of mess.

I checked out their album "This Is Happening" after finding a truly sublime mashup of "Dance Yrself Clean" and Big Boi's "Shutterbugg" (called "Shutterbug Yrslf, by DJ Lobsterdust for anyone wanting to track it down), and was disappointed by what I found. I was expecting similar disappointment here. Much to my surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed this album. I don't now if it caught me in the right mood or what, but I ended up listening to it multiple times. The top track for me was "American Dream," which hit me in an existential angst-y sweet spot—chock full o' disillusionment with modern life mixed with futile self-destructive flailing. That's kinda my brand (if not musically, then certainly in real life). "Tonite" also pushed the right buttons, and, along with "Other Voices," gives off a 21st century Talking Heads vibe (which I swear was a conclusion I came to before reading my fellow group member's review, who made a similar comparison). They're not as good as the Talking Heads, but this album's got a similar sort of nuance and flavor. I dig it.

Almost weird I don’t think I’ve actually ever listened to LCD sound system. Strong start. I don’t know what the influence point is, but I enjoy the similar sound to Parquet Courts. It’s an add.
